Anthony
York app, and your smart speakers.
Don Hahn
Well, I mean, listen, there's a lot of good things happening. Yeah, you may not have your football team playing in the super bowl, and if you're listening right now, probably you probably don't. I'm sure we have our share of Eagles fans, and certainly some probably like kids between the ages of like 7 and 14 who fancy themselves as Chiefs fans now. But for most people, Don. No, it's not happening. But there are other good things in life, right?
Peter Rosenberg
There's a few others, especially for you.
Don Hahn
The baby certainly helped, and I did a good job. I watched with her because the way things timed out, I was still feeding or burping her when the game started, and I did a good job not freaking out while holding her. I was. I was. I was impressed with myself. But, yeah, it made it. It certainly made it a little bit easier. Now, the rest of the way, let's talk to the people. There's so many things going on, so many feelings when it comes to the football. One person we haven't spoken to all day is our good friend Griffin in Connecticut. Hey, Gripster.
Griffin
Hey, guys. First thing, before I get to my point, there's a little thing with Weekend Warrior that we have to, like, controversy here. Maybe Alan still won, but if you actually look at the problem, the podcast from Friday, he didn't have Shaquan Berkeley. He had Patrick Mahomes. So.
Don Hahn
Oh, yeah.
Griffin
Can pull up it. But he didn't have Shake one. He had Patrick Mahomes. That's what he said on the ENN on Friday.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? I. I didn't want to question it. It seemed odd to me, too. Like, I thought it was Mahomes, but then I just. I just figured I heard it wrong. But he still wins anyway.
Griffin
Yeah, he's right. It was Mahomes, but Allen still wins.
Peter Rosenberg
So I don't know what happened there.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I don't. I don't know. Did Alan say it was. It was Saquon?
Griffin
Yeah, he did.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. When he when he went over it, he took. He took Saquon.
Don Hahn
That's right, he did.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, if that's the way it's gonna work from now on, Griffin, I have a very good feeling moving forward. I'm gonna have an excellent chance to win. If I can pivot the next day, that's gonna change everything.
Griffin
At least the winner was still the winner.
Anthony
Let's.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. But, boy, I wish it wasn't just for the controversy of it. Thank you for listening. We appreciate it. I guess nobody else does on the show.
Griffin
Not me. I know when I get to my point, Peter.
Don Hahn
Right. I'm here.
Griffin
You're. You should I. I know right now it's hard because you just lost, but you guys took a surprise jump that you weren't even supposed to take. And just like the. In. In yesterday in the game, I thought you guys. When you guys got the ball back down by 11 and they were driving before the Aqua Fumble, I was like, oh, my God. They're gonna. They're gonna. They're going to cut this lead to like, four or three. All of a sudden, they're going to cut it to a deficit almost. I thought the commanders were going to almost do what they've done before. So you really are having. You really had an imagine, magical season, and I'm feeling that right now with my capital. I don't know if hockey is a little bit different than football. I don't know if we could keep this next year. But you should be very happy about the way your commanders played this year and the way Daniels just surprised the whole world.
Don Hahn
Well, thank you, Griffin. I do think that's the. I think that is the overwhelming feeling that I have is. Is one of gratitude. But here's the one part where I'll push back. Going back isn't guaranteed. And. And so even though it's the beginning and even though I have to feel great about what this team is building, so many things have to break, right? I mean, most teams are not the Eagles, the Bills, or the Chiefs, who always go to the game. Don, for most teams, it seems nearly impossible to make it this far. So even though I am okay, there was part of me that was like, but you just don't know. It could be seven years, could be. Who knows? So when you get there, you want to take advantage of it. It hurts when you don't.
Peter Rosenberg
I get it, but I hate that word, you know, trust, the process. But it is a. I do think winning is a process. Do some teams come out of nowhere, win the whole Thing very rarely. Usually you got to go through something. You know, when you look back at those last two giant championships, or at least the first one in 07 with Eli is like, oh, they came out of nowhere. Now, they had gone to the playoffs the previous two years and lost, and then they figured out, you know, a way to go on a run. I just think that 90% of the time, that's usually the way it works out. And usually that loss would have came in Tampa or you would have lost a week after, but you ended up riding it all the way to the championship game. So a ton of positives happened on the way to what was a real failure in the championship game. But that's all going to be knowledge for a young team and a coaching staff that's now starting to learn its players. I'm telling you, it doesn't feel like that way now. And you're right, maybe they never go back. Maybe Kings Barry gets a head coaching offer and leaves and it changes everything. And now he's got to go through a second offensive coordinator and something might change. You're right. But there's a process to this. You just don't go from irrelevancy to winning a championship immediately. You've got it. You got to suffer through this and hopefully it works out. So I, I just think that's the only way to look at it.
Don Hahn
You know what, Richard.
Peter Rosenberg
Hi, Richard. Hi.
Richard
I'm sorry, Peter. I'm sorry, Don. Hi, fellas. The 69 Mets don't. They didn't go through any process. They were miserable, miserable, miserable. And then they won the world series in 69. Shocked the world. Wally Szczerbiek Saturday night. This guy's the greatest, greatest analyst, basketball or any. He is fantastic. Boy. He painted a picture of the game with Tyler Murray. Right. Is the name of the other guy, the play by play guy.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Richard
Yeah, he's great, too. And I mean, he had the game right away in the middle of the first. He says this team, Sacramento does not play defense. They run up and, and down. The game is fun to watch. I watched the fourth quarter. It was fun going back and forth. But he says they do not play defense. And it brought back memories. The coach, Doug Christie played with that Rick Adelman. Adelman team in 2000. Coached that team with Chris Weber and those guys. Those guys. Stojakovic. All right, now, fellas, I got. Oh, by the way, Don, you were talking, you and Alan were talking about Las Vegas last week. Do you know the first American sports city that was Las Vegas?
Peter Rosenberg
The first. First team.
Richard
No, first American city. United States city before Las Vegas. What was another city that took four teams on in a very short time that had zero.
Peter Rosenberg
Hmm.
Richard
We'll go back to 65. The Atlanta City. Atlanta. Milwaukee Braves came there. The St. Louis Hawks came there. In basketball, Falcons were formed a year and a half, two years later. And then the Flames came in there six, seven years later in 82. So four sports teams when they. Nothing. All right, let's talk about yesterday. I got some analytics for you guys. There were 18 touchdowns scored yesterday, fellas. How many do you think were done by the run and how many do you think were done by the pass? 18. What do you think the split was?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, the. How many did the. The Eagles alone have in that game? What was it, like six or seven?
Richard
Something like that?
Anthony
I'd have to say it was. It was seven for. It's a 13.
Richard
13 is right. Very good, Don. 13 run, five pass, which means the running game. And in the big games, you better have the best running backs you can. All right, here's my second point. There were 18 touchdowns. Obviously. 18 point after attempts. Correct. Whether one point or two point. Okay, how many do you think were done. Out of the 18 were done with the kick and how many were done with the two point? What do you think the splits were? Out of the eight?
Don Hahn
I'm going 12. Six.
Richard
Very good, Peter. You're 100% right now added 12 kicks. 100% of the kicks were successful. 100%. All 12 points were gathered. Out of the six pass runs for two points, only two were good. So two out of four, that's 33%. What I've been saying all along, never go for two until you need.
Peter Rosenberg
I know. I really thought Skills made a huge mistake with the. With the pursuit, with the penalty on their extra point when they could have made it 21:17. And they got enticed to go for two because the half a distance to the goal was a huge mistake. And then they had. Then. Now they got to go for two. The next touchdown and they could have been up by three instead of one if they just kicked extra points. Use it when you need it.
Anthony
I go away for. I was gone, what, 10 minutes?
Richard
Oh, yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
But did you hear the beginning of the conversation? He said, wally Zerbiak is the greatest analyst ever. How about that? How about that for high praise?
Anthony
That's high praise.
Don Hahn
I mean, listen, it's hyperbole to go.
Peter Rosenberg
No offense to Wally, but, you know, there's some really good analysts in the History of the media.
Don Hahn
Wally's great, but I mean, ever, ever.
Anthony
Like, ever.
Don Hahn
He doesn't mean like he's better than you. He means like he's better than anyone.
Anthony
John Madden is included in this conversation.
Don Hahn
That's right.
Anthony
That's what we're doing.
Peter Rosenberg
He said, the best analyst ever. Am I wrong, Anthony?
Griffin
Yeah, I blacked out for a little bit.
Don Hahn
I may need to hear that back. The amazing thing about Richard is the luck of this man to be living in a time and place where he happens to get to hear all of the greatest broadcasters who have ever lived? I mean, what are the odds, Don, that you would live in an area and in a time where everyone who announces every game is the greatest who's ever lived?
Peter Rosenberg
And he based it, Alan, on the fact that he saw the Kings don't play defense.
Anthony
Hmm.
Peter Rosenberg
He saw what no one else saw.
Anthony
We kind of all saw it. But, yeah, I mean, they scored 143 points. I. You know, I think Maya saw it.
Don Hahn
She did. She mentioned something about it.
Anthony
I figured her first words were, kings don't play any damn defense.
Peter Rosenberg
That. Oh, and then. Listen, Alan, a little disturbing. We were just working together for the first time. We have our first major controversy. I feel kind of away about it. You did not have Saquon Barkley as your weekend warrior.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Griffin called us to say you had Patrick Mahomes. Now, you would have won anyway.
Don Hahn
You did.
Peter Rosenberg
But what shenanigans are going on here?
Anthony
All right, I'm going to take a picture. My sheet in front of me, because I wrote weekend warrior, Patrick Mahomes. I asked Anthony. He said to me, and I went out to Anthony because Don's coming at me. And he said, you said for me.
Griffin
Anyway, so.
Anthony
So I went. I did. Okay. And then I looked up Saquon's numbers. I'll take a picture of it and put it in the group chat.
Griffin
I have to. I'll just have to double check you guys, because I think you said it in the group. So I said, oh, Allen definitely believes he has Saquon. And that was two weeks ago you had Saquon. This week it was Mahomes. We went with quarterback. Everyone went with a quarterback this week.
Don Hahn
Yeah, it was.
Griffin
Peter was easy. I don't have to check. It's Jaden Daniels. Next week it's gonna be Jaden Daniels.
Peter Rosenberg
In the Pro Bowl.
Anthony
If going to the group, you're gonna see Mahomes is crossed out under Warrior and then a dash with Saquon next to it.
Griffin
You went either way. But that also happened at 4:30. A lot was going on.
Peter Rosenberg
We should. You should start dating. The things that you put down there, like something's going on with your computer.
Don Hahn
Wait, you going after Anthony now?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, who am I going after?
Don Hahn
Well, I, I just.
Peter Rosenberg
It was impropriety.
Griffin
I didn't see it as going after.
Anthony
Dom wanted to come after me, apparently.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I just want to know what was going on.
Anthony
Like, you know what I'm noticing, Peter? Don is waiting for the moment because you know we're not gonna get along on something. Right. I think he's almost itchy now. He's like, no, no, we gotta have a fight. We gotta have.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, did you take that away, Peter? I just wanted to get to the bottom of it, that's all.
Don Hahn
No, Yeah, I, I don't think lied. I don't think you guys think I.
Anthony
Pay attention to this stuff. I just went down and talked. I did a 90 second segment in the lobby with a whole bunch of fans around me talking about Josh Hart. And then I ran back up here and I'm hearing Richard from Manhattan. I don't even know what he was doing. Well, so my head's spinning right now.
Peter Rosenberg
Can I. I shouldn't ask this question.
Anthony
Oh, here, I'll go ahead and ask it. No, go ahead.
Peter Rosenberg
No, come on, let it all out of these networks. Think it's a good idea to do anything in front of fans. Like poor Michelle Jingris was doing a stand up in the, in the concourse yesterday afternoon with Dave Maloney.
Anthony
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
And the same guy with his kid walked back and forth. Oh yeah, back and forth. Like, is that what we need? Getting ready for a game? That's what I need. A guy mugging for the camera.
Anthony
We get that. How about the guy that sends his kid to walk? Like, walk behind him? Like they do that. And the kid doesn't know what he's doing. He's just walking aimlessly. And then you see the guy push him back again. He'll go back again, go back again. And it's, it's. This is what people do. But there's that. And then speaking of Wally, how many times do you think per day when I walk in this building, I hear.
Don Hahn
Hey, Wally, is it, by the way, is that very common? We've never discussed it. I get this a lot.
Anthony
Yeah. This far into it, it shouldn't be this common, but it is. And I know, like, what's the right way to handle it? Ignore, say I'm not Wally, or just wave or the. Really, to me, the last option is the best one, if you ask me. It's like, you know, flip the bird or do something derogatory so then they think that guy Wally's.
Peter Rosenberg
I thought about that. I thought about.
Don Hahn
I got back to back tweets that make me want to punch people in the face.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I love it.
Anthony
Let's go. Let's go.
Don Hahn
One was responding to my. My tweet yesterday about rooting for the Eagles. This issue right here is why no one can take you seriously. I truly wonder why a New York sports network employs you. Say that ish on a D.C. sports show and see how fast they blow you up. That I decided I would root for the Eagles over the Chiefs invalidates every thought and opinion I have on sports. I don't. I mean, you. Listen. Some people just shouldn't. This is the problem with social media. Some people shouldn't have access. Not every voice is needed. Here's another one. Your fraud is. Is very pathetic. Are. Are you proud of your commies? They got blown out. Never was a game. Don't ever talk about my Giants guys.
Griffin
I think I want.
Don Hahn
I watched every snap of the 2022 Giants Eagles game from the first. Giants three and out. They never competed. Not for one moment. Not offensively, not defensively. They never competed in the game. Allen, half the people who've called today have said the same thing. They believe the Commanders could still win the game well into the third quarter. You cannot and will not compare those games. You're a fraud. You're a moron. You watch sports and don't know what you watch. Don, you know I'm right. The Giants never were in that game. Not for a moment.
Peter Rosenberg
I agree. But I'm not. But I wouldn't get all worked up. Yeah, I don't understand how somebody's opinion of who to root for means that you don't know anything about sports.
Don Hahn
You have to root against your division, Don. It's the rules you made earlier. You have to root against your division. You don't know sports. God, everyone is so quick to call everyone else a casual. When it comes to sports fanship. It's the most irritating thing about social media. Any opinion you give invalidates whatever other opinions you may have. Because why? Who really knows?
Anthony
But I got a great suggestion for you.
Don Hahn
Stop looking at you.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Anthony
Lock out.
Don Hahn
Yeah, but then what?
Anthony
Honestly, like. Like, what do you care about replies? Say what you got to say and then keep it moving. Like, are you here. Are you here for people's validation? Or are you here to express your opinions? Because this is what you're paid to do. You are a sports personality, so you express your. Your opinion and then you leave the room. That's essentially what social media is. You are saying something and then you get to leave the room without a question and answer session. You don't have to hear from the people that are now consuming what you had to say. You get to just leave. They're the ones that now have to fight over it and they're angry that they can't yell it in your face because you're not looking.
Don Hahn
Oh, Claudia. That's Claudia the yo yo. Claudia, the yo yo says, if you think this game was ever in jeopardy for the Eagles, you know less about football than I ever thought you knew. And that's not much. No, no, no. I'm sure when Terry McLaurin was strolling into the end zone to make it 1412, you. You didn't even think we were in the game.
Anthony
I, I'm sure it was 11 in the four. In the third quarter. It was 11 point game.
Don Hahn
Yeah. When they were driving, when they were driving down 11. I'm sure you weren't even concerned, Eagles fans. Not even for a moment?
Anthony
Not even a little bit? No. God, I hate you people. See, Don, am I right or wrong? Don, because I think you handle social media better than anybody. I think Don has the best approach to social media.
Don Hahn
He's good at it. He is.
Peter Rosenberg
What kind of reaction did you think you were going to get from people when you tweeted that? Right. Did you think everybody was going to be like, that's a.
Don Hahn
You're, you're right.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm going to do the same thing.
Anthony
I was going to root against the Eagles, but now you convinced me my life is forever changed. Like, come on, man, you just got.
Peter Rosenberg
To take it all in stride.
Anthony
Even though that was an aggressive take by you. It was aggressive. You know it was aggressive. I wasn't looked at the comments if you didn't think it was aggressive.
Don Hahn
Well, when I saw how many comments there were. Once you get ratio, do you go, oh, what's going on? This is striking a chord, huh? So you're right, you're right, you're right.
Anthony
Engagement, Farmer.
Don Hahn
I didn't mean. Well, I didn't mean to farm, but I farmed.
Anthony
You did, and that's what you want. You got engagement. And I am waiting for the replies when it comes to callers because it's amazing that people are very aggressive to type things in replies, but when you then provide them a number to talk to you directly they'll never do it well.
Don Hahn
And it's funny the rational people who've called this show, no one's been particularly bent out of shape about that take. I mean, like I think one person called and disagreed, but like, no one seems to really overly care about it. Because you know what I think, unlike Alan, I think most people really also hate the chiefs. So it's not that surprising for people. But Alan loves greatness.
Anthony
Yes, I love greatness and I'm very disappointed in society. I've already known society's crumbling, so it doesn't surprise me that people don't like greatness anymore. Anyways, there's tons of calls to get two boys 800-919-3776. So why don't we do that right before, of course, right after Don tells us about his favorite new non alcoholic beer.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, listen, I love it because it's dry January and I've been taking advantage of this. Cheers to new beginnings this dry January with Clausthaler, the pioneer of non alcoholic beer. Taxact can think of a million.
Anthony
Things more fun than filing taxes. TaxAct is going to name some now. Sitting in traffic, folding a fitted bedsheet.
Peter Rosenberg
Listening to your co worker talk about.
Anthony
His fantasy team digging a hole.
Peter Rosenberg
Digging an even larger hole next to that original hole.

Unfortunately, TaxAct's filing software can't make taxes.

Fun, but TaxAct can help you get them done. Taxact. Let's get them over with.

Okay.
Don Hahn
At ESPN New York that we will have our Big Game Live debut. This is the first time we will ever have been out as Don Hahn and Rosenberg. So this is the first ever event, first time together out in public doing this show. It is happening Feb. 7, the Friday before the Super bowl from 3 to 7 at the Tap Room at Rockville Center, 4751 North Village Ave. In Rockville center at Tap Room. It's going to be a great time. Brought to you by our friends over at Sloman's Tullibore Dew Irish Whiskey. We're going to have the Super Box Bonanza. It's going to be a happening, Don.
Peter Rosenberg
It's all coming together, but I'm looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun.
Don Hahn
And I have an appearance this Friday too, guys, out at Lids. There's a new LIDS location, 239 West 42nd right there in Times Square. It is going to be happening as well. A brand new store. It's the grand opening this weekend. They have a lot of things going on, plus the awesome customization they're doing. So come hang out with me and Team ESPN from 12:30 to 2 this Friday at Lids.
Peter Rosenberg
I love Lids. I got some really cool hats. Oh, I was at Lids in a mall, the Bridgewater Mall, because I had to get. We got. We got together with people we haven't seen since Christmas. I didn't get him a Christmas present. I got one of those old throwback devil hats. Really nice. They got a nice selection of a.
Don Hahn
Lot of a little green and red.
Peter Rosenberg
A little green and red. Yeah, absolutely. And I went over, went over big.
Don Hahn
Let's go to Marvin in the car. Hey, Marvin.
Chris
What's going on, fellas? First off, I want to just say in radio person, Peter, congratulations on baby Maya.
Don Hahn
Thank you so much, Marvin. I appreciate you.
Chris
No problem, no problem. I called a couple weeks ago when you were off and just wanted to do in person, but I just wanted to get. I had two points real quick. The first one is for the Chiefs. If there wasn't all of these, you know, commercials with the chefs and you know, the State Farm commercials with Patrick Mahomes, Jason Kelsey and, you know, Andy Reid and all the, all the camera time with Taylor Swift during the games, do you think they would be a more likable team than they are right now for people to cheer for them for a three peat?
Don Hahn
I, I think that's like. I think those are factors.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
But for me, it's a factor for me. But honestly, it's kind of like the way they play football. That annoys me too. It's not just as simple as the extra stuff for me.
Peter Rosenberg
Don, I hear what you're saying, but really I can only speak for myself. I can't speak for other people. I can't speak for Peter. It is all the ancillary stuff. It is because I just love football. I don't need. That's why I hate the super bowl usually. Because it's not, it's everything but football. You know, the big extravaganza, three hour pre game show, the obnoxious halftime. It just it. And you're usually at a party, seeing people all, they're watching their first football game. And especially here with the Swifties getting involved, they seem to be like the super bowl. Every time they play. It's there in every commercial. Oh, here's Taylor Swift showing up to the building or here's Taylor Swift in the suite. Then I, you know, I pop on the news today and they're, they're going over the highlights of the game and they of course have to show Taylor Swift like she's a part of the team and then her exiting with Travis Kelce after the game. It's like I don't need all that stuff. And that's why I just, I just want it to be about football. And it seems to be everything but with their. It's not their fault, it's not their fans fault. Just I was ready to kind of move on something different, something to a better story. And as far as the greatness, what does that do for me? Peter and I've been very fortunate. You can make the case in our lifetime, even yours. We've seen the greatest basketball player play. We've seen the greatest hockey player ever play, some of the greatest teams that ever play. You know, I was alive to see the Islanders win four straight Stanley Cups, the Yankees win four championships in five years. You know, we've seen the greatest quarterbacks, Tom Brady, we've seen so much like I have to see three in a row. I have to. I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't have to do anything for me.
Don Hahn
Marvin, what else you got? You. One other thing.
Chris
Yeah, so I also am a fellow Commander fan, highly disappointed, but I'm so proud of how they competed. I think the game was a lot closer than people say they are, you know, but they're probably all, you know, Philadelphia fans. You know, it did get away from us at the end, but you know, up until the third quarter it was still a game. But I wanted to say I agree with your point. When you said you know, we don't know where we're going to get back there again, you know, and even with all the cap space we have, I don't really like the move we'd made for from Lattimore, you know, and I looked at the previous games when he was with the Saints and he kind of reminds me of, you know, a little brother trying to reach a ball from his bigger brother and the way he's best flailing around and like a lot of his past defenses, it just looks like they're borderline pass interference calls.
Don Hahn
And he wasn't great, Marvin, he wasn't great. And thank you for the call and the well wishes. I hear you. The Lattimore thing, I think they expected to get more he. First of all, he wasn't available for the first four or five games. Don, you watch the playoffs. He seemed to be getting picked on quite a bit.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Don Hahn
He also can get very feisty and get into it with people and cost you with penalty yards, which he did. I sort of like some of the energy he brings to the team, but I also think the easiest thing to do in sports is pick on cornerbacks. And Don, I have this thing. I feel like most of us, like regular fans, non football experts, I think we rarely know when it's completely on the cornerback. And I think it's kind of this obvious easy football thing of like, I hate Lattimore. He's always giving it up. But I think it's just. Don, isn't it so easy to always look at plays like that without understanding exactly what happened?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, oh, absolutely. It's. It's such a thankless position.
Don Hahn
Oh my God. There's not a more thankless position in sports.
Peter Rosenberg
And especially considering how every rule favors the offense. So you breathe on these guys wrong. It's a penalty. All the defensive holds. It's a really thankless position. Really. Even like Darrell Revis was one of the best at it, you know, they didn't throw his way usually, you know, so it's, it's just so it's such a difficult position to play and if they're going to throw in you, you're on the best receiver, you're going to be targeted and you're going to screw up.
Don Hahn
Let's go to Chris and want to talk. Hey, Chris.
Spike
Hey. Hey, Pete. Congratulations. I got him. I got on the radio like when I heard you talking about you rooting for the Eagles. I've been spending this for. Since yesterday, speaking with other, other Giants fans, etc. I'm a Jets fan. I've experienced hating the team and stuff, but let me just. Before I get this done, who are you rooting for? This for the Super Bowl.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm disgusted. I can't root for the Eagles. I can't. So I'm not rooting. I'm not rooting. I. I guess I want the Chiefs to win so the Eagles don't win, but I can't say that I'm going to be, like, clapping my hands and John gonna watch in utter disgust. I'm telling you, if I was a plumber, I wouldn't be watching this game.
Spike
But here's the thing. And. And why are you not rooting for the Eagles?
Peter Rosenberg
Because I hate.
Spike
Because you would be. Because you would be.
Don Hahn
No, that's not it, though. He doesn't feel that.
Spike
Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter. Listen, I just want to ask you, who's the commander's biggest rivalry in the division? I don't know. Personally.
Don Hahn
It's Dallas. I mean, come on, that's one of the greatest rivalries.
Spike
Okay, it's Dallas. That's fine. But I don't. Personally, I don't. I feel you guys are like the 14 that never gets. So I don't know who your rival is, regardless.
Don Hahn
Wait, hold on. You're a football fan. You're a football fan.
Spike
You're about jets fan. I'm a Jets.
Don Hahn
But you're about to give me. You're about to give me. And I respect you, but you're about to give me sort of a lesson on who I should be rooting for. Just saying. And you don't know. You don't know that the. That the rivalry is the Cowboys and the Commanders.
Spike
Dude, I was born in 96. I missed all of them. I don't care about anyone's rival besides Mind, because I'm a guy.
Peter Rosenberg
That's fair.
Don Hahn
All right, but.
Peter Rosenberg
But here's the. Here's the thing, Chris. Obviously you're trying to get me to say fraud. Okay, you don't have to call him a fraud.
Spike
You don't. I'm just trying to get Peter to understand he has two weeks to change his mind. Because here's the thing. Like, I get it, Peter. They're very annoying. But like Alan. I called Alan two years ago when he was on Barton's. Barton Hahn. I love the Eagles. Super Bowl. The Eagle super bowl is the only time Brady didn't lose to the freaking Giants. By the way, Don, thanks for those two Super Bowls. I hate saying that as a Jets fan, but screw Tom Brady. Anyway, I had to root for the Chiefs instead of the Eagles because they are going to become the best dynasty ever when they three peat. And you know why? Because when you're a Jet, the moment you become a Jet, you hate the Bills, you hate the Dolphins, you hate the Patriots, you choose to root for the Redskins. Slash Commanders. You hate the Eagles, you hate the Cowboys, you hate the Giants. Don't end. And then, Peter, they just cost you a Super bowl trip. You just said you don't know the next time you're going to get back there. The only other time you can hate a team is when they cost you a trip to the championship. I hate the Steelers. I hate the Royals, I hate the Colts. But those are the teams you hate.
Don Hahn
I don. Thank you, Chris. I hear you and I understand why. That is the common logic. And listen, I know this isn't good for sports talk radio because you're supposed to just make up takes and be over the top. Sure. It's two weeks away by that point. I might be so disgusted with the Eagles, I go, you know what? I. Who was I kidding? I actually would rather them lose. I don't know. But in the moment yesterday when I saw the Chiefs pick up that first down at the end to yet again beat the Bills, who, like, if you're like me and Don and you have no issue with the Bills, you kind of pull for them. And I've been pulling for them. And I just was so disgusted, Don, that I was like, I don't want to see the Chiefs win again.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't want to see them win either. That's why I'm disgusted with the super bowl, because. But I just can't root for the Eagle. I guess root is. I guess the problem I have with your tweet is that you're rooting for the Eagles. Just be like me. I just hate watch. Like, I can't sit there and pump my fist for anything positive that the Eagles do. I can't jump up and down and get excited. I just can't do it. So really, you're not rooting. You're just like, all right, if I have to take one of these two correct to win the game, it's Philadelphia. And the reason I won't call you a fraud is because, at least from a football standpoint, I know you're not. That's why I just get aggravated with, like, Dave's take. It's like, oh, you're a fraud. How can you do it? No, because I know you love the commanders and I know that you're into. So obviously you have your reasons. I get it, because I'm done with the Chiefs too. But I'm older than you. I think the Giants have been owned by the Eagles more than I think the Commanders have been owned by the Eagles. So my, my hate is so visceral. I just can't possibly root for the Eagles. But this chief team, I'm so sick of them. I gotta watch because it's my job. Because I'm gonna come on the Monday after the super bowl and break it down like a professional. But I'm telling you, this is not gonna entertain me. And as much as I love football, the fact that I hate both of these teams is gonna take the fun of watching football. Because I don't care what you say, I don't care how much you love a sport. You're going to create some sort of a rooting interest, something you're going to want to see. And when you see two teams you don't like, I just don't. I don't get enjoyment out of watching that. I don't.
Don Hahn
I. I know. I got to tell you, I. I don't. If Kendrick Lamar wasn't performing at halftime, I'm not saying I wouldn't have the game on. But I am not looking forward to this. I'm just not. I'll tell you what I am though. The one thing that can help me look forward to it on some level is placing a bet with FanDuel. And see the FanDuel kick of destiny is back. Spike
Longtime listener, first time caller.
Peter Rosenberg
First off, Peter, you brought me to.
Don Hahn
The station because I went to my.
Spike
Brother'S car while he was. He had the car set to a 98.
Don Hahn
7.
Spike
I was like, what's Peter doing on the afternoon?
Don Hahn
So besides that, my question is, am I a fraud?
Spike
Am I a fraud?
Don Hahn
Never really cared about football sports growing up. Started playing fantasy a couple of years ago. Galen Hurts was my draft pick. Been rooting for the Eagles ever since.
Spike
I'm from Brooklyn, New York.
Don Hahn
Celebrated the Giants, the Giants, Super Bowls.
Spike
Both of them, but really never cared about it, Right? So I'm all in on the.
Don Hahn
I'm all in on the Eagles now.
Spike
Sorry, I'm walking up the train station.
Don Hahn
All on the Eagles now. I can name the players on the team. Am I a fraud? Yes, but it's fine. Who cares? That's the thing.
Peter Rosenberg
No, you are.
Don Hahn
But it's fine. It's fine.
Chris
You.
Don Hahn
You're obviously a fraud. You cheered for giant super bowl victories and now you're onto another team. So by definition, you're fraud. But we're fine with you.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, because you're not a big sports fan. You said. And you go fan because of the money with the fantasy. I mean, but by definition you're a fraud. But it's fine because you're not claiming to. I get, you know, he's not claiming to be a big time fan. Like he said he partied, you know, when the Giants won, but he said he wasn't really a fan. So by the way, that seems strong.
Don Hahn
That's the same as my wife. She partied when the Giants won. She always talks about how fun a night it was. And I said, well, guess what, Sorry, you're a commanders fan now. You weren't really a fan. You just partied. Who cares? Before we get out of here, Alan Hahn is back and Alan's friend and friend of our, of all of us, Spike in St. Pete. We only have like 30 seconds. Spike, what do you got, man? How are you?
Spike
I only 20. I have a logistics question for you. When both of my daughters were born, the dogs always the midnight feeding, the late night feedings, the dogs always went with me.
Don Hahn
What's your situation? Well, it's a great question, Spike, and thank you for checking in, buddy. And I saw your nice message on Twitter and I appreciate it. We, I've been really handling all things dog, basically. But I do have to give credit to both these old pups. They're both over 14 years old and they've kind of figured out what's going on. And when one of us is feeding Maya, they kind of just go in the room and plop on either side of the chair. They've been pretty wonderful. Got. I got to give them credit where credit is due. So props to the dogs. Alan, are you ready for. For big time Nick action tonight against the Grizz?
Anthony
It's a good one here at the Garden Boys. I mean, this is the Grizzlies, who are really good. They're playing very well. They have John Moran, who's a show. He's always fun to watch. They're. They're a big, tough team. They've won a bunch of games, I think five or six. They've won six in a row and five of the six are in blowout. So the Knicks have won three in a row. They've been blowing some teams out here as well. So I, I'm going to be interested in this matchup tonight with the Knicks and the Grizzlies and of course, the world's most famous arena. I had to run up and down the stairs a couple of times. But, Donnie, I'm going to be back here tomorrow with you for the Rangers. I love it because we got to talk about that game tomorrow.
Peter Rosenberg
That's a big game. Huge.
Don Hahn
Donnie Allen. I'll be locked, Dan, and we'll talk tomorrow. Thanks for listening to the Don Han and Rosenberg podcast.
Anthony
I don't want to know how the sausage is made, man. I just want to know. It's good.

Don, Hahn & Rosenberg Podcast – Episode: Hour 4: Last Call Crew
Release Date: January 28, 2025
Hosts: Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, Peter Rosenberg
Platform: ESPN New York and New Jersey
In the "Hour 4: Last Call Crew" episode of the Don, Hahn & Rosenberg podcast, hosts Don La Greca, Alan Hahn, and Peter Rosenberg delve into a variety of sports topics, focusing primarily on NFL dynamics, team performances, and the intricate interplay between sports fandom and social media interactions. The episode is peppered with lively discussions, listener interactions, and insightful analyses, providing a comprehensive look into the current sports landscape.
The conversation kicks off with Don Hahn reflecting on the prospects of local football teams making it to the Super Bowl. He humorously acknowledges the slim chances for many fans, particularly those supporting teams like the Eagles, Bills, and Chiefs.
Don Hahn [00:38]: "You may not have your football team playing in the Super Bowl... but there are other good things in life, right?"
Peter Rosenberg adds to the camaraderie by sharing a personal anecdote about his newborn daughter, highlighting how balancing family life with a passion for sports can be both challenging and rewarding.
Peter Rosenberg [01:08]: "I watched with her because... I did a good job not freaking out while holding her."
A significant portion of the episode addresses a controversy brought up by their listener, Griffin from Connecticut, regarding the "Weekend Warrior" segment. Griffin points out an inconsistency where Alan Hahn reportedly mentioned having Saquon Barkley instead of Patrick Mahomes.
Griffin [01:45]: "Before I get to my point, there's a little thing with Weekend Warrior that we have to like controversy here."
Don and Peter express their confusion and disbelief over the mix-up, with Peter humorously conceding that Alan still wins regardless of the error.
Peter Rosenberg [02:32]: "I don't know what happened there... but he still wins anyway."
This exchange underscores the often unpredictable nature of live sports discussions and the challenges hosts face in maintaining accuracy under pressure.
The hosts delve deeper into game strategies, particularly focusing on running versus passing touchdowns. Richard, another participant, engages the hosts with analytical questions about the recent game stats.
Richard [07:33]: "There were 18 touchdowns scored yesterday, fellas. How many do you think were done by the run and how many were done by the pass?"
Don correctly identifies the split, emphasizing the importance of a strong running game in crucial matches.
Don Hahn [08:30]: "13 run, five pass, which means the running game. And in the big games, you better have the best running backs you can."
Peter echoes the sentiment, discussing the fallacies in game decisions, such as opting for two-point conversions unnecessarily.
Peter Rosenberg [09:55]: "I really thought Skills made a huge mistake with the pursuit, with the penalty on their extra point when they could have made it 21-17."
A substantial segment of the podcast is dedicated to addressing the negative feedback Don has received on social media regarding his support for the Eagles. Don shares excerpts of harsh comments that label him a fraud and question his sports knowledge based solely on his team allegiance.
Don Hahn [14:25]: "Some people just shouldn't have access. Not every voice is needed."
Peter and Anthony join in, discussing the toxicity of online interactions and suggesting ways to manage or ignore baseless criticisms.
Anthony [16:49]: "Say what you got to say and then keep it moving. Like, are you here for people's validation?"
Don emphasizes the frustration of being misunderstood or unfairly judged by fans who conflate personal team support with overall sports intelligence.
Don Hahn [16:25]: "You have to root against your division, Don. It's the rules you made earlier."
Throughout the episode, listeners like Marvin and Chris call in to share their viewpoints, adding depth and diversity to the conversation. Marvin discusses team management decisions, particularly criticizing the acquisition of player Trevon Grimes and its impact on team dynamics.
Marvin [26:26]: "I don't really like the move we'd made for from Lattimore... he reminds me of a little brother trying to reach a ball from his bigger brother."
Chris, a Jets fan, engages in a spirited debate about team rivalries and personal frustrations with both the Chiefs and Eagles, highlighting the emotional investment fans have in their teams.
Chris [31:35]: "I just hate watch. Like, I can't sit there and pump my fist for anything positive that the Eagles do."
These interactions showcase the passionate and often polarized nature of sports fandom, enriching the podcast's discourse.
Don shares a personal glimpse into balancing hosting duties with family life, specifically managing his responsibilities as a new parent alongside his role on the podcast.
Don Hahn [25:34]: "I have to give credit to both these old pups. They've been pretty wonderful."
This segment humanizes the hosts, allowing listeners to connect on a more personal level beyond just sports discussions.
Towards the end of the episode, the hosts promote upcoming events, including a live debut at the Tap Room in Rockville Center and a grand opening of a new Lids store in Times Square. These segments, while promotional, highlight the community engagement and real-world connections the podcast maintains with its audience.
Don Hahn [23:53]: "We will have our Big Game Live debut... happening Feb. 7."
Peter shares his enthusiasm for the live event, indicating a blend of entertainment and fan interaction.
Peter Rosenberg [24:34]: "It's all coming together, but I'm looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun."
The "Hour 4: Last Call Crew" episode effectively balances in-depth sports analysis with candid conversations about the challenges of public persona and social media presence.
