Alan
You kidding me?
Rosenberg
3:00 clock tomorrow out on Long Island. We've got a lot of fans out there. It's always great to catch up with them. So it should be a very, very cool show. More calls. 1-800-919-3776. I've been looking forward to this all day. How Spike in St. Pete handled all of last night. What's up, Spike?
Spike
I'm just explaining to Susan, my wife, what the. Aaron Fox. You pull the ball out. My God, Alan, am I wrong?
Peter
Yeah, it's definitely a thought there. It's a one point game, but the game is over. If you get fouled, you go to the free throw line.
Alan
Not over, but it's close.
Peter
I mean, you feel like it's over, but yes, I guess you still have to make the free throws and all. But he's. He knows he's fast and I think he just thought, I can get to the rack and I can get through, I can get a quick bucket. But their problem was they did everything too fast in that fourth quarter. So, Mike, everything they did.
Spike
Here's my take on reports. Real simple. You know, I know the game they had took eight three point shots and seven of them had 12 or more seconds left. I'm explaining to my wife. So you have an accrued 80 or 85 seconds which gave the Knicks enough time. And on the inbound space, you know how the guy who inbounds the ball you get back to shoot. Well, OG was the inbounder and you had Castle on Towns, right? Yeah. Wemby's assignment was to be with Brunson and. And then the other two guys got lost and it looked like I was watching the ten Commandments and the Red Sea parted and OG went up. His hand was by the swear well
Peter
that the leap was incredible.
Spike
Yeah, because he had a running star now why doesn't he if he had time? I wasn't. He put in Cornell, one of the big guys. I don't know. Look, he's a young coach. This reminds me of Taylor Jenkins when he had Bane and JA and JJJ and they just were there and then they lost it. But this, they can't recover from this. They. They may make a close game on Saturday.
Fernando
You're calling it.
Spike
I could. No, I said five games at the beginning. I came on, told Michael and you think about it. But. But this game you get basic fundamental basketball. Pull the ball out unless you can dunk it. And my guy Zach did pretty good after.
Peter
He was good. Yes, he was a long way. That wasn't his call. Now the town's call was done at the replay center. That's call.
Spike
I know it's not his call, but I watched everything. And your post game show, Bill Pedo, my God, you put him back on the ground when his feet hit it. He's such a fan. I love it. And Monica is a great asset. Guys did a great job. You just made everybody's day.
Steve
And go Knicks most bike.
Rosenberg
Enjoy it, man.
Peter
Yeah, they make it easy.
Alan
Zach's arb is a long way, a long way away from the Jewish center on Eastern Parkway.
Rosenberg
And just so you know, if the Knicks win on Saturday, make sure you tune in right after the game because we've got some special stuff in store if they win on Saturday. If not, there'll be a game six on Tuesday. We'll be back at Stout and dealing with all that. So we've got a couple of days before game five or at least between the two games where they'll play on Saturday. I love stout, Antonio.
Peter
I love stout. I'm good.
Alan
Yeah, you don't want to know you're
Peter
good for this to be over. I love going there. I love them all there. I'm good. I don't need any more of these.
Alan
You need to wrap this thing on up.
Peter
Wrap it up.

Let's go to Steve in California. You're on ESPN New York.
Steve
Hey guys, always a pleasure talking with you. I feel blessed to have been able to speak with you a few times this past week. A couple of things I noticed a couple of times that I thought that for the Knicks to have a blowout game they would have to have 40 assists. I haven't seen them have 40 assists in any game in this series and I'm wondering, the defense has been so tight they haven't been able to buy a bucket for most games. They put together two, a third of a game last night and a third of the game in game two. It's really tough. The defense has been very tough both ways and it comes down to execution. But the thing is the Knicks have experience at the spurs though. Same thing with the coach. Everybody's talking about the error with the last play with getting blocked by Anunoby, but they should have been holding that ball out and taking time off the clock the entire second half with a 29 point lead.
Alan
Great point.
Steve
Just bad coaching and unawareness. You know you've got a 29 point lead. The only thing that can help them is having enough time and you guys frittered most of it away.
Rosenberg
No, it's great.
Alan
It's a great call by you and like listen, I hear what Spike is saying. The dribble out by de' Aaron Fox would be the right thing to do. It's not as easy in the moment as everybody would have you believe. But, but, but Mitch Johnson slowing his team down and just finding any way to bleed more time off the clock. That is something that should have been thought about more. I talked about it earlier. There were just possessions that were absolutely silly for the spurs team and when you saw the shots weren't falling, you had to imagine at some point guys logic told you they're not going to continue to shoot perfect basically from the floor. They were shooting in the 60s in
Peter
the first half and that's not who they are. They're not a great they're decent but they're not a great three point shooting. So you have to be out of. Yeah.
Alan
And they. And they just. They were not coached that way so self.
Peter
Not the again not about you Peter. But it was very Celtic like oh
Alan
no no, I hear you.
Peter
It's just. They just. This is what we're gonna do. We're just going to shoot threes. We're going to settle for threes. And it just. It ended up being a disaster for them.
Rosenberg
But that's in the moment. Like the Celtics were built that way.
Peter
Right.
Alan
And they were doing that to try to win games. This is trying to preserve. I don't know that the Celtics would jack up 29.
Peter
I think the spurs were just settling.
Alan
They.
Peter
They were, you know the easy quick first shot. They wanted to turn it into a 40 point like game. They. They weren't. They were thinking about building that lead from 29 to. To 40 and you know, blowing the Knicks off the floor and it's. It made them play too fast. It really was a recipe for disaster for them. But things had to go away. Number one, get cold. Number two, the Knicks just stay with it. Instead of being like any other typical team which would have just given up.
Rosenberg
Sure. They don't Howard in Boston. You're on ESPN New York.
Dan
Hey guys, thank you so much for having me, man. As a Nick Met Jet Islander fan,
Steve
this is a freaking long time coming for me.
Dan
Last thing I had was the Terps in O2 basketball.
Alan
There you go.
Steve
Anyway, best. Hey haha.
Dan
Big time, big time.
Steve
Juan Dixon, my guy incarnation of Jalen before Jalen. Hey, so quick technical question. I have not heard anybody comment on this about all day. The town's tip on that last play. The clock should have started with the tip and it didn't start until Castle touched the ball.
Peter
Yeah. Because the clock.
Steve
Am I right about that?
Peter
You're correct. Because the clock manager. They did not. He didn't know he tipped it. That was such a subtle tip that you had to watch the replay back to realize he actually tipped that. They didn't see it. That's as simple as that. It wasn't an obvious tip.
Steve
Where were we with. Where were we with challenges? Because Towns would have known he tipped it. What if he brought. What if it ended up becoming a challenge situation? Did they.
Peter
I don't think. I don't think you challenged. You can challenge that a clock. I don't think you can do that. But they had already. I think they already.
Steve
Well the other thing is they took that play with a Cleveland against Atlanta with like point 4 to go earlier this season. That was a dunk. That was this play.
Peter
Yes, exactly.
Steve
This play.
Rosenberg
But you have to understand them not seeing it in real time that he touched the ball.
Peter
Of course, of course.
Rosenberg
And there's no way to go because I just don't know how it works. You're talking about 1.2 seconds.
Ethos Announcer
It's.
Rosenberg
I can't kill him for that.
Peter
No, no, that's, that's way too subtle of a, of a, of a tip. It's just, you know, but it, it broke it up. It was enough to break it up. And that's, that's really all you were looking for there.

Stand like a final tonight. Looking forward to this game. Game five. It's been crazy. You know, this is brought up to me, Alan, and I'm wondering, as a hockey guy, whether you. Of a rule change in basketball. If you get the shot off before the clock zeros out, you get to follow through with whether the shot is good or not. But we saw at the end of the first period of game four, yeah, There was a goal disallowed because it didn't cross the line before the clock zeroed out. Would you want to see an NBA rule where you let the play. If the player takes the shot before. Before the clock zeros out, you let it play beyond the clock. You mean in hockey?
Peter
Yeah, I want that in hockey. If it leaves your stick, I don't care about the buzzer. The sh.
Steve
Right.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Peter
It's the same as if it leaves your fingertips on the shot.
Rosenberg
Right.
Peter
The fact that it has to cross the line before the buzzer is kind of dumb right?
Rosenberg
Now, I think that shouldn't count for deflections. If I take a shot and it gets deflected, you know, then it's different.
Peter
Oh, good point then.
Rosenberg
But that you can put in the rule. Like. Like.
Peter
So it can't be redirected. Has to be the initial shooter or pat. Like, even if it's a pass.
Rosenberg
Like if I. If I. Like if I take a shot. Right. Kind of like the. When UNC. When North Carolina State won the bat in 83. Right. That was a missed shot. Didn't hit the rim. They grabbed, put back like that.
Peter
Well, think about this, Don. Tyrese Halliburton's shot wouldn't have counted by. By NHL rules.
Rosenberg
Right?
Peter
Because when it bounced in the air, the buzzer sounded.
Rosenberg
Right.
Peter
It fell through after the buzzer. That would not have counted.
Rosenberg
Right?
Peter
So. So I wouldn't buy NHL rules. Yeah, I like. I like the fact that you're. So it's the last time it touches the stick before the buzzer.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Peter
The minute it touches anything, it's dead.
Rosenberg
Right? Because. Because if that. If that hit the rim but didn't go straight down a pacer Couldn't tap it back in.
Peter
No. Right.
Rosenberg
So that's what I, that's the way I would look at the deflection. If I take the shot, it's sailing towards the net. Clock zeroes out and it goes in. Count the goal. If it gets deflected in after the clock, zero's out, no goal.
Peter
No. If it touches anything.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Peter
It's dead puck. So if it touches a body, a stickle, or the back of the neck.
Rosenberg
Right.
Peter
But that's what it's, it's gotta, it's gotta like, it has to. The next thing it touches decides its fate.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I'd like to see that.
Peter
That's actually not a bad rule at all. Because, because it takes away from, you know, the chance for a late goal like that.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I, I, and it doesn't hurt anybody. I don't know why you wouldn't do it otherwise. You know, it's just. Well, it's always been that way when goals are made to be changed. Right.
Peter
How many goals is it really going to change?
Rosenberg
Well, it certainly would have changed maybe things in game four. Right. Because Vegas would have scored and they end up losing by. Well, they lost by two, but it was an empty net or something.
Peter
These finals, Don, you're going night after night of epic games and comebacks. It's. This has been such a, this has been so much fun to watch.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Peter
Every night.
Rosenberg
And you know, if you got nothing tonight, no NBA Finals here in New York, you got the Mets played this afternoon, Yankees off. They play Toronto tomorrow. So if you haven't watched it, it's been a treat on ABC.
Alan
What time is the old puck drop?
Rosenberg
8 o'. Clock.
Peter
Should be an 8 o' clock APM vehicle.
Rosenberg
Let's go to Dan in Queens. You're on ESPN. New York. What's up, Dan?
Dan
Hey, how you doing, guys? I want to give accolades to the Nick organization, what they did last year, making a change for the coach. A lot of your callers didn't want to see Tibbs go, but look at the difference. One more game. This guy got a coach really well bringing in Alvarado. He's been doing it all playoffs. It's been the difference. The Knicks, I feel with this coach for the last three years, they could have won multiple titles. It was Tibbs. It was. Think about, think about the bench, think about the changes.
Alan
The overall point is a good one. Multiple championships the last couple years. I'm not on board, but there's no argument. The proof is in the pudding.
Dan
You.
Alan
The point has Already been proven they are a better team now with Tibbs, they are a deep. I mean, with. With Mike Brown, they are a deeper team, more capable of using their bench. With Mike Brown, it's. It's a better basketball.
Rosenberg
Well, Dan, how did you feel about it when they let Tibbs go?
Dan
I was calling you for three years asking him to go. Listen up. I'll be honest. I wasn't happy with the higher at the time. I am not, of course, because we're gonna. We're on the cusp of winning a championship for the first time in 53 years. The guy I wanted will never allow back in New York, so that's a different story. So. But this is unbelievable what this guy has done. He has even proven me wrong. Not that I didn't like him to begin with. It's just he exceeded my expectations. If he wins one more, he still win one more. You got to do.
Steve
I.
Rosenberg
We're losing you, Dan, so we'll let you go. But I think the overall point is a good one.
Peter
Yeah, look, I was one of the. I was one that. I didn't like it. I didn't like the coaching change at the time. I didn't. I thought it was a very, very risky move. And for a coach that got you, like, out of the. The dregs and back into being an elite franchise. And I didn't like the idea of putting the power into the players. I thought it was a dangerous thing to do. But the players proved me wrong, that they could handle it better than we've seen a lot of other places handle it. Where the inmates run the asylum and they get lazy and do what they want and complacent. This group's not like that. And then they brought in a guy who was. This is so Joe Torrey.
Rosenberg
It is.
Peter
It really is just the right fit at the right time. This is such the show Walter Tory situation where Mike Brown was not considered to be the top choice, but he
Rosenberg
was the right choice, and that's all that matters. Let's close it out with Fernando in New Jersey. You're on. Donjon Roseberg.
Fernando
Hey, guys. Big fan. Long time. Nick fan, man. Since I was a kid. I'm 32 years old. My grandfather, he taught me everything. It was about the Knicks. Unfortunately, he's not with us anymore. You know, he passed away in 2016. But I've been. I've been through it all, man. Watching Chris Duhaan, watching Al Harrington, talking myself into Nate Robinson being the next great thing. And then, you know, when Mellow came aboard. It was, it was, I got some, some excitement, man, and then some dark days after that with Phil Jackson. But listen, my grandpa was told me, man, the team has to play together. Beautiful things are happening and that's what I see in this Knicks team right now.
Steve
It's beautiful.
Fernando
Bridges doesn't have a good game, but he's there hyping up og Josh Hart shouting out OG after. And just the connectivity is what's beautiful in this team right now. Hope we get this done.
Steve
Let's go, Nick.
Rosenberg
Well, Fernando, yeah, maybe it's hokey, maybe it's wishful thinking. And I felt this way when my after my dad passed away and the Giants won a couple of Super Bowls. I hope they're able to see this. You know, that's what I hope is that they're up there, you know, watching and seeing that. I hope there's a way. If there's a heaven, hopefully there's a tv. And I would think there would be
Peter
at least one team they're all gathered around. You know what I think it is too, Don? I think it's a car colored TV on a TV stand and then a black and white on top for those who want to watch something else.
Rosenberg
That's right. Or you know, depending on when you died, you're listening to it on the radio. You're consuming it the way you at the time you consumed it. No improvements.
Alan
So if you just missed the cutoff for hd, you're watching it standard by
Rosenberg
