Peter Rosenberg
That sounds like heaven to me.
Don Allen
Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New.
Don Hahn
York app, and your smart speakers. All right, so, Peter Rosenberg, if I was going to ask you your favorite year of the Washington Redskins slash commanders, what year would that be?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I can. I could answer that for Pete. 1991, correct?
Don Allen
Yeah, I mean, it's hard to say. I. I feel like I'm. I'm a little more emo about 87 because it was the first and like.
Don Hahn
Some of my little.
Peter Rosenberg
But you always. Some of my 91 team.
Don Hahn
91 was your wheelhouse, one of the.
Peter Rosenberg
Greatest history of the sport.
Don Allen
91 is one of the greatest top five team probably in history. But I'm just telling you the truth. I think probably about 87 more, but 90, almost amazing.
Don Hahn
91'S like. But that's like your real. How old were you?
Don Allen
I was 12.
Don Hahn
Yeah, see, that's right. I mean, that's. That's the sweet spot, right? All right, so here's some trivia for you, espn.com doing this for all the super bowl teams. Franchise that won a Super bowl, they pick one year or maybe the last one.
Don Allen
You said the last one the other day.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I think that's what it is. The last one they won. And they'll give you some tribute. Let's see how good you do out of 10. And Don, you can participate to see if you can outscore Peter.
Don Allen
Well, yeah, we kind of helped each other more than anything the other day, but it's okay. Whatever you want to do.
Don Hahn
It's a competition. Hands on the buzzers, gentlemen.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Don Hahn
Which quarterback started the most games for Washington in 91? Stan Humphries, Mark Rippon. Jeff Rutledge, Gus Farratt.
Don Allen
That would be Mark Rippon.
Don Hahn
Sir, you are correct. That seemed. Let's see, again. These start very easy. Which players scored in the super bowl for Washington in 1991? Ricky Sanders, Art Monk, Gerald Riggs. Gary Clark.
Don Allen
Give me Gerald Riggs.
Don Hahn
Gerald Riggs. Two for two, bang.
Don Allen
How do you like that, Don? For your ace.
Don Hahn
I mean four yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Nothing goes up.
Don Allen
If it's up, then it's all right.
Peter Rosenberg
It's up there. You'll know.
Don Allen
Well, yeah, actually, you know what? I had a little bit experience with that yesterday. Not me.
Don Hahn
I'm gonna leave that alone. Let Rick handle that one.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Which player was a rookie on Washington in 91? Mark Schlerith. Martin Mayhew, Ricky Irvins. Brad Edwards.
Don Allen
Oh, man.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna go Slayer.
Don Hahn
That's right.
Don Allen
Yeah, I think it's. I think it's stink. I'm gonna go stink as well.
Don Hahn
Ricky Irvins.
Don Allen
Oh, I thought Ricky Irvin was 92.
Don Hahn
We do need the buzzer. All right, so we're two for three so far.
Don Allen
That's embarrassing. I knew Ricky Irvins was right around then. I kind of thought he was. The next year, I forgot he was on the super bowl team.
Don Hahn
Okay, well, Ricky, you lost that number. Which player played for Washington? 91. And is now a member of the Pro Football hall of Fame? Oh, Jim Lachey. Did I say that right?
Don Allen
Jim Lachey.
Don Hahn
Lashey.
Peter Rosenberg
For a hockey guy, that was a bad job.
Don Hahn
It's a bad job by me. Listen, we're just getting through it. Art Monk, Gary Clark, Charles Mann.
Don Allen
I'm gonna go with Arthur Bartholomew. Monk.
Peter Rosenberg
That's right.
Don Hahn
Nailed it.
Don Allen
Current.
Peter Rosenberg
Current.
Don Allen
Raven. The Charger.
Don Hahn
Now, let's go to which defensive player, along with Darrell Green, led Washington Interceptions in 91? Oh, so you have Mayhew, Andre Collins, Sydney Johnson, Wilbur Marshall.
Don Allen
It's got to be Martin.
Peter Rosenberg
Mayhew.
Don Hahn
Mayhew, yeah. Wilbur Marshall. No.
Peter Rosenberg
I wouldn't have guessed that, Peter.
Don Allen
That is shocking. I didn't know. Listen, last second I went, well, it could be a weird year. And a linebacker got a bunch, I would have thought.
Don Hahn
Fun fact. It's been 10 years since a defensive player was named Super Bowl MVP.
Peter Rosenberg
And that would be Von Miller, if I'm not mistaken.
Don Hahn
I'll go with that. All right, which. Sorry, who was the kicker on that team in 91? Peter. Chip Low. Miller.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Don Hahn
Kelly Goodburn. As if there's a bad one. Al Edwards or Jake Moody?
Don Allen
That would be. That would be Chip Lo. Miller.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Chip Lomo is the only number I knew in that list.
Don Hahn
Nailed it. Let's see. Okay, almost done here. Right now, I think you are. Are you Four for six?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's what you are.
Don Hahn
Which player on The Redskins in 91 had played 10 or more seasons at that point in the NFL? Jeff Bostick, Ernest Byner, Raleigh McKenzie or Daryl Green?
Don Allen
That's so tough. Not. Not Daryl.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, he was drafted in 83. Right.
Don Allen
Who was the first?
Don Hahn
Feels like he was. He's been in the league for 40 years.
Don Allen
So it's, it's, it's, it's going to be beiner or Raleigh McKenzie.
Don Hahn
Okay.
Don Allen
It's 91. Don was Byner already on year 10. He had a whole career in Cleveland.
Don Hahn
Yeah, Don't.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. So he. Because he was in when I.
Don Allen
That's tough. First name was what?
Peter Rosenberg
Bostic.
Don Hahn
Jeff Bostick.
Don Allen
Yeah. I don't think Bostic is your 10 already. Although I got to tell you, he's probably getting close to Don. Bostic's probably hovering right there too, isn't he?
Peter Rosenberg
That's who I'd guess.
Don Allen
All right, let's. Let me Don. Stick together. Let's go, Jeff Bostick.
Don Hahn
Show me Bostic. Correct.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Don Allen
Wow, Don, thank you for pushing me the right way. God, you guys, how crazy it is. Bostic. That is the core player on all of the Super Bowls. One they lost and all three they won.
Don Hahn
Let's see if Don gets this little, like fun. I like things my way. My coffee, my schedule and my treatment. So I talked to my doctor about self injecting with the Vivgard Hytrulo pre filled syringe which contains fgar, Tigamide Alpha and Hyaluronidase qvfc.

Don Hahn
Sidebar who's the oldest player to appear on a Super bowl roster? Oldest player? Yeah. Little hint. He was a backup quarterback. So backup Steve deburg nailed it.
Peter Rosenberg
Now really?
Don Allen
What?
Peter Rosenberg
Superb. Got a chance to say it. He was on that Falcon team in 98.
Don Allen
He was on the Falcon team.
Peter Rosenberg
He played a little bit too. Not in the game, but he definitely played a little bit.
Don Hahn
That he was 45.
Don Allen
He was that.
Peter Rosenberg
He was the quarterback in San Francisco before Montana.
Don Hahn
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Then he finished the season for the Dolphins. When Marino tore his Achilles, he played forever.
Don Allen
Then he went to Kansas City. And then Montana goes to Kansas City.
Don Hahn
All right, Peter, you are right now five for seven.
Don Allen
Oh, here we go.
Don Hahn
Another one who scored a touchdown. I think this again. This was like the giant one who scored a touchdown for Washington in 91.
Don Allen
In the whole season?
Don Hahn
I guess so. Yeah. But it's probably going to give you ridiculous names. So let's say I wouldn't know any of these names. Brian Mitchell, Terry or Ron Middleton. I do not. Ambassador Johnson Last name?
Don Allen
What's the give me spelling ad?
Don Hahn
I'm afraid to say it. A D I C K E S Mark.
Don Allen
Mark. Addicts to Terry or and Middleton are two tight ends.
Don Hahn
I looked at it as totally.
Don Allen
And of course. And of course give me Brian Mitchell with a return to the house.
Don Hahn
Don, show me Mitchell. No, it's Terry or.
Peter Rosenberg
That's a tough one.
Don Hahn
That is a tough.
Don Allen
You're just. You're totally guessing. Yes, Terry or. Or Middleton. I certainly could have scored a touchdown, so.
Don Hahn
But you're 12.
Peter Rosenberg
And to remember everything that happened in the regular season that year, it's a lot. It's a lot.
Don Allen
Here we go. Two to getting tough here.
Don Hahn
Down the stretch, it gets a little harder. Which member of your favorite team went to college at South Carolina? Joe Jacoby. Tim Johnson. Russ Grimm. Brad Edwards.
Peter Rosenberg
You need Rothenberg for this.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I know, I know.
Don Allen
Give me the names one more time.
Don Hahn
Joe Jacoby. Tim Johnson. Russ Grimm, Brad Edwards.
Don Allen
I have. I have no clue, but for some reason, Tim Johnson is sticking out my mind like that's the answer, but I have no stinking clue.
Don Hahn
Ambassador Johnson. It's Brad Edwards, by the way.
Don Allen
Love Brad Edwards. Solid. We love. We love Brad. The rare white boy cornerback, number 27. We love Brad.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't. I can't picture, like, Grim and Jacoby playing in college. They feel like they're working lab somewhere, you know?
Don Hahn
All right, the final one. And where is he now? Is he seven of. No, he's. You got six. Six of nine.
Peter Rosenberg
All right, so this pass or fail right here.
Don Allen
No, I think I got two wrong in a row. I might be five.
Don Hahn
You might be at five.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I think you got the six.
Don Hahn
No, I think he's five for nine. Five for nine?
Don Allen
Yeah, five for nine. I got the Brian Mitchell one wrong, too. And it was Terry or who was.
Don Hahn
The ball carrier on Washington's longest play from scrimmage in the Super Bowl. Art Monk, Gary Clark, Ricky Sanders, Jeff Rutledge.
Don Allen
Give me a wacky play to Ricky Sanders.
Don Hahn
Ricky Sanders. Nailed it.
Don Allen
There we go.
Don Hahn
Nice way to finish it, Don.
Don Allen
We had a similar sort of. It was a very similar trajectory.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I love trivia.
Peter Rosenberg
It takes us back to, like, the COVID days when we used to have all that trivia. We go at it, but these questions are really rough.
Don Hahn
They're very weird.
Peter Rosenberg
They're very weird.
Don Allen
But that was fun. Thank you for indulging me, people.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, we got calls to get, maybe more trivia. Who knows? A lot happened until 7 o'. Clock. And then it's Knicks basketball right here on espn.

Let's do it. Talk to the peeps.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's go to Moose in Jamaica. You're on ESPN New York. What's up, Moose?
Caller
Don Allen, Tito, what's good? Good evening.
Peter Rosenberg
What's up, baby?
Caller
First things first. Quick shout out to Michael Happy belated on his birthday week. I wanted to get you, but I couldn't. And he had this topic on his show of. He wants somebody to call in and say why they wouldn't watch the super bowl because of Bad Bunny. Well, I haven't been watching the Super Bowl. Last Super Bowl I watched was 2018 Eagles over Patriots. I saw it at a Super bowl party in a bar with the locals and stuff because of what 45:47 said about Colin Kaepernick and how he couldn't get a job after that. So in solidarity, like many in the black community, they stop watching the Super Bowl. So I might be inclined to watch it this time because of the reverse controversy based on the current political climate. Not to get political, but that's how I feel.
Don Hahn
But you did.
Don Allen
I respect your take. You're not boycotting.
Peter Rosenberg
Not to get political, but you're not boycotting the NFL. You're just boycotting the Super Bowl. But you still watch.
Caller
I don't watch the super bowl game or the halftime. I just watch everything up until the Super Bowl.
Don Hahn
So what do you do?
Don Allen
Well, what do you do? I mean, you know what?
Don Hahn
Don.
Don Allen
Don. Fraud alert rule.
Don Hahn
Yeah. Doesn't make sense. You're either out or you're in. Like, you can't be.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, listen, what do you guys want to protest?
Don Hahn
Right? Like, that's. That's.
Don Allen
That's kind of like you hit a late fraud here at 6. 51.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? I. I never revealed this because I. I don't want to get political, but I was so disgusted by what Happened with the NFL and Colin Kaepernick that since then, I've protested every Pro Bowl. I will not watch the Pro Bowl. I'll watch everything else. But me and my buddies all get together and say, listen, I drove a line at the Pro Bowl. Not watching.
Don Allen
No, I, I.
Don Hahn
And the awards. I'm not watching that. Oh, no.
Peter Rosenberg
NFL matters.
Don Hahn
Out, out, out. That'll. That'll let. That'll show them.
Don Allen
Yeah, I'm not watching your Pro Bowl.
Don Hahn
Talk about a pro. Talk about a pro. Like, that's not even. That's an embarrassment to protests.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes, that's.
Don Hahn
Protest him.
Don Allen
How has no one hit the fraud siren? It was insane. You can't.
Commercial Announcer
You can't.
Don Allen
I respected it. I thought he meant he protested everything.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I would respect that.
Don Hahn
That's protesting like protesting the, you know, eating meat and, you know, the whole meat is murder thing. But, I mean, I really like hamburgers, so I'm just, you know.
Don Allen
Well, no, I can't include hamburgers.
Peter Rosenberg
You know what? I'm really disgusted by the whole meat industry. So I've decided I'm never gonna have liver again. Ever.
Don Hahn
That's it.
Don Allen
Done.
Peter Rosenberg
Not gonna happen. Let's go to JJ in North Carolina. You're on espn, New York.
Caller
Hey, fellas. I haven't called in a while, but I wanted to.
Don Allen
I just.
Caller
I don't think this gets said enough before I get to my. The Super Bowl. My super bowl prediction. What do you guys do as far as. It's hard for you guys to understand, but when people are going through stuff and you guys just provide this entertainment and comedy and good talk radio, it does a lot for people personally, just going through, like, you know, an elderly dog situation. As you know, Peter's gone through. It's brutal. But you guys, you guys helped me out and I appreciate it a bunch, so wanted to say that.
Don Hahn
Thanks.
Don Allen
Sorry to hear that, buddy.
Caller
Of course, man. Thanks, Peter. I know I've talked to you about that before, so appreciate it. Tough stuff with the.
Peter Rosenberg
I think the.
Caller
I just think the Seahawks are overall a better team. When they played the Patriots in the super bowl, you know, last time, I think the Page that patriots team is 10 times better. Not 10 times, but definitely better than this Patriots team, so. And I don't know if Darnold is better than Wilson right now, but I think this Seahawks defense is as good or even better than the last Seahawks defense. So I think they win by about 10ish. And Darnold wins MVP. JSN probably has two touchdowns.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's Kind of where I'm at with it. I. Listen, I can't say the Seahawk team is the Legion of Boom. That was a really good defense, but it was a different league. Even 10 years ago, there's still a lot of parody. I don't know if there's any real great teams. So I can't put that Seahawk. I kind of committed myself that whoever wins the championship to me will not be comparable to teams from the past because I just think the game is different now.
Don Hahn
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So I can't go that far. But they're deserving if they do win it. Ed, New Jersey, you're on espn. New York, make it quick. We're up against it.
Caller
Hey. Hey, guys. How you doing?
Peter Rosenberg
Good.
Caller
It's fitting. You were talking about Billy Kilmer and he had a little bit to do with something. You, you don always talked about the goal post in the front of the end zone. Because In Super Bowl 7, the Redskins were in the red zone and Billy Kilmer sees Jerry Smith wide open the core of the end zone and the ball hits the cross, not the crossbar, but the upright, and incomplete. Very next play, he gets picked off by Jake Scott and basically that's. And the Redskins basically lose a Super bowl kind of because of that. And two years later they moved the goal post back.
Peter Rosenberg
So. Well, I don't know. I guess the logic wasn't. Thank you for the phone call that, hey, you score a touchdown crossing the line, that's where the kicks got to be. But it seemed really stupid. Jeff Passon reports first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and the New York Yankees are finalizing a one year contract.
Don Allen
Goldie.
Peter Rosenberg
No, they're not running it back. Allen.
Don Hahn
No, no, no, it's not running it back.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's, it's running in place. It's, you know, I don't know what it is, but. No, that's. Yeah. Why not?
Don Hahn
No, it's. I mean, again, you get him cheap, right? Like, and he's, you know, he's good. So, you know, but you're right.
Peter Rosenberg
It's.
Don Hahn
It's pretty much the same team.
Peter Rosenberg
Alan, enjoy your night off. Got Knicks, but no Allen. So enjoy. We will talk to you again on Monday. Recap the super bowl and get, get life ahead without some football coming up at 3 o' clock on Monday. Peter, I know you got everything going on at home.
Don Allen
God bless.
Peter Rosenberg
Everything's gonna be okay.
Don Hahn
Thank you.
Peter Rosenberg
God bless you and your family. And let's hope it's a really good super bowl. Man. I've got Seattle winning. Sam Darnold is the mvp. We'll talk to you on Monday. Have a great weekend.
Don Hahn
Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg Podcast.
Don Allen
I don't want to know how the.
Don Hahn
Sausage is made, man. I just want to know. It's good. Hear more More of Don Allen and.
