Don Hahn
Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 8 80, ESPN, the ESPN New York app, and your smart speakers warriors come out to play games. Don Hahn and Rosenbergs Weekend Warrior.
Alan
All right, here's the context for this. Every Friday at 6:00, myself, Alan and Peter are going to pick a weekend warrior who we think is going to have the biggest moment of the weekend. We're going to pick the player and then on Monday we'll see who did the best pick. So we got a lot going on. All sports. It doesn't have to be just football. It could be anything in the realm of sports over the weekend. I mentioned it during my picks. The guy I'm looking at is Josh Allen. I, I think he's going to win the mvp. I think they've got a chip on their shoulder. I love the matchup against Denver. I think Josh Allen's going to have a monster game in Week 1 of the Wild card playoffs. So I say it's going to be Josh Allen's going to throw for a couple of touchdowns, probably run for a couple of touchdowns. I love the Bills. I love the Bills to cover the number. I love the Bills to blow out Denver. I think what the Broncos have done is pretty special this year. Good for them. But I think Josh Allen's going to have a monster game. So Josh Allen is going to be my weekend warrior for the Buffalo Bills.
Michael
It's so interesting that you pick Josh Allen.
Alan
Yeah.
Michael
Because Allen also picks Allen.
Alan
Wow.
Michael
Now, typically, I would say we should try and have everybody have a different one, but we have different circumstances here. Allen's not available. You pick Josh Allen. Don Allen picks Josh Allen. If Peter doesn't pick Josh Allen, he might get a chance to win because if Allen has a pedestrian game and whoever Peter picks from any sport is a better weekend warrior. Peter, you could jump out of this pretty early on as the, as the clear cut favorite, as the winner or.
Alan
Peter, if you fee, if you're feeling Josh Allen, then let's make it a hat trick.
Don Hahn
No, listen, guys, you already know what I'm about, all right? I have to go with Trevion Henderson. I'm just kidding. I'm not going with the Ohio State running back. No, I'm not. I'm going with Jaden Daniels, everyone.
Alan
Why wouldn't you?
Don Hahn
I am going with Jaden Daniels. I love the guy for a reason. And while he has not had like incredible stats in every game this year, basically in every moment that they've needed him, he has gone above and beyond. Even in the loss to Tampa earlier this year, he still put up good number. I mean, this is, remember, this is a kind of fascinating, underrated part of this story is that Washington played Tampa, but it was week one. It's, it's the man's first ever NFL game.
Alan
Right.
Don Hahn
He didn't have a throwing touchdown. He, he was 17 to 24 for 184 yards and they lost 37, 20. But even in that effort, Don, where he struggled, it's his first game ever. Sixteen carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns rushing the ball. And in that game, Terry McClaurin was a non factor. It was just a different football team. Also, Tampa has gone through a lot of injuries and changes that game. I think Jaden is huge running the ball. I think he's big throwing the ball to Terry McLaurin. I am confidently saying Jaden Daniels is my weekend warrior.
Alan
All right, so Peter has Josh, Jaden Daniels, I've got Allen and Allen has Allen. So that's what we have with our weekend warrior. Quickly, Peter, I want to mention this because this just came down. Townsend McBride. Game time decisions tonight for the Knicks against the OKC Thunder. A game coverage will begin right after this show on 880 ESPN. So big game, but they may be playing without certainly one of their best players, McBride, who's no slouch either, but both of them game time decisions according to Ian Begley. So we'll see if they're going to be in the lineup tonight.
Don Hahn
That is a, that is a big piece of news that just came down the pike. Yeah, obviously that is potentially a different game for this team.
Alan
And how about this? I don't know if you've been following the whole MSG optimum deal, Peter, talk to me. But the MSG network has just released a statement. Altice usa, which is obviously optimum, have pulled their last proposal and walked away from negotiations to bring MSG Networks back to its optimum subscribers. They also dropped WPIX, Channel 11 in New York and other local stations around the country. If you've been waiting like we have for them to do right by their customers, don't wait any longer. Now's the time to switch to Verizon BIOS and special offers from Optimum subscribers. So they've walked away from the table. So if you consume Nicks, Rangers, Islanders, Devils on Optimum, it looks like you're not going to be consuming it anytime soon. They've walked away from negotiations.
Don Hahn
So there you have our very own Sham Charani reporting. The New Orleans Pelicans have suspended Zion Williamson for one game for a violation of team policies.
Alan
So he's on his way out.
Don Hahn
Peter, is that what it's feeling like here?
Alan
It does feel like that, yeah. It's not working out right now. They suspend them. So I guess this is the angle. So where does he go? The Knicks have fallen all over themselves. If this were a couple of years ago now, I'm not so sure.
Don Hahn
Zions averaging 22 and a half points, eight rebounds, five assists, 47% from the floor. It's a really frustrating career so far for Zion, who has played in seven games so far in the regular season. It's just, it's always something with Zion. I mean, he could go on Don based on the talent that he had, based on how thrilling he was. I remember this was a thing on our show on the old Case show. We got into it. Michael and Don were sickened by me because I hated Duke so much and loved watching Zion play. That's how good. I hate the team more than life itself. And yet it was must see TV when Duke was playing. That's how good Zion was. Don, he could go on. And it's not because he can't play when he's available and when he's in shape, he's a really good player still. But there's just. It just very disappointing so far and.
Alan
Kind of we're running the gamut here. I do want to throw this out here. Jim Duquette, former general manager, he had tweeted out earlier that Pete Alonso's camp, which is Scott Boris, has offered the Mets a three year deal with opt outs and this is only a deal for the Mets. So what do you take from that? We don't know what the numbers are, but it does feel like a Hail Mary by Boris because it doesn't seem like anybody else has an appetite to give him big money. And this is actually smart by Boris from, from my perspective because the one Place that makes sense for Alonzo to go is to stay with the Mets. Fan base loves him. He's an original. Matt, we. We heard the comments from David Wright yesterday and we had him on how important it was to him to be a Forever Met. And Alonzo has a chance with New York. But this also puts pressure on the Mets, who have the extra money because of Cohen and probably see more value in him than any other team in Major League Baseball because of what he's meant to the Mets and the home run against the brewers and all that. Does this put them pressure on the Mets to get a deal done? But it also tells me that Boris doesn't have any other suitors, because when is Boris all of a sudden given exclusive opportunity for one team to get a deal done? I don't know whether it's going to be 30, 35, 40 million, whatever it is, but it sounds like Boris has given the Mets an opportunity to lock it up. I think it's going to happen. I think Pete's staying because I think it's really, it's just meant to be. And it's, it's. It's. The only team that can see the value in Alonzo are the Mets. Because of the Forever Met thing. Every other team is just going to look at his numbers and say, I'm not paying, you know, 35, $40 million for that. Analytically, where the Mets, I think, see the value of him being a Forever Met and Steve Cohen having the deep pockets to say, all right, I'll pay more than I should to keep Pete here. So I think this is going to happen sooner than later.
Don Hahn
It is. It is really crazy to me, though, that, like, no one seems to see the value in this guy. It's just so weird to me. Like, he is a really good player.
Alan
But it is such an analytic sport now, and he doesn't have those types of numbers to command the money that he's looking for. You know, Boris has a lot of enemies in this sport. There's a lot of teams that just don't like to deal with him anyway. And you had the whole Prince Fielder comp earlier in the week. He's trying to get $40 million. He's not a $40 million player to most teams when they look at the analytics. He's an okay defender, doesn't get on a base a ton. You know, he's a really good home run hitter, but he just doesn't check a lot of boxes that these general managers look at to give that kind of money. But The Mets can see the value because of the fact that they just haven't had that forever guy. I mean this is a guy that can break every Met record, go down as one of the great Mets of all time. There's value in that. Is there value for another team who just looks at the numbers and say I'm not overpaying for that. So it just feels like Boris isn't getting what he's looking for. He doesn't want to have the egg on face he had last year when the likes of Chapman and Snell were sitting there unsigned when spring training started last year. It feels like if Pete wants to play hardball with the Mets, that's where he's destined to be. Sitting there in March without a team and being forced to, you know, sign a one year contract someplace where he doesn't want to be to try to build up his numbers. So I think this is going to happen. It's just a matter of when. And if the Mets are right and they're really the only team that fits, then I can see Stearns just waiting it out and seeing if the number comes down.
Don Hahn
God, Don, tell me I'm wrong though. When you think about the numbers and the cost. I know it's insane, but I really think our take about Pete just not being the coolest brand in the world, I think it's actually hurt him here. I can't quite legitimize why it seems like he's either going to have to take such a ridiculous haircut or kind of come. My guess is they're going to end up working something out with the Mets that's still less than another person would met would get. Who's given what he's given to the team.
Alan
I know because other teams, here's where your point spot on. Like I don't think they look at the cool factor necessarily. Like the, we've kind of joked about in the time that Pete has been here, but he's just a guy to a lot of other teams. He's just a guy that can hit 50 home runs. He's a guy that can drive in a bunch of runs but you know, he doesn't hit for average, doesn't have a tremendous on base percentage. He, he's an okay defender, not great. And so he's just a guy to most everybody around Major League Baseball. I don't know if you live in California, if you live in Seattle, if you live in Texas, do you go, I got to see Pete Alonso. And then there's a guy that Broke the home, the rookie home run record. But to your point, there isn't anything flashy about him. There's nothing really special to him about him to the average fan. But to a Met fan, he's really special because of everything that he's done here and the fact that they drafted him. There's circumstances that I think only Met fans see. But to the average fan around Major League Baseball, he's just a guy.
Don Hahn
This and every other subject imaginable all available for you. 1-800-919-3776. Let's go to Lang and Stamford. Hey, Lang.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Good evening, gentlemen.
Peter Rosenberg
Before I get to my point regarding tonight's net game with Cat, the news of him being questionable game time decision. You know, I like to say he's got the mellow build, if you will. Not to say I'm Hercules myself, but he's not chiseled. He's got a kind of a, an interesting body physique and he's been hobbled. And I just worry, you know, I think they need to shut him down. Kind of like Luca, because Doncic, because you don't want this thing to become a more serious thing. You think Back to Antonio McDy, God forbid it's patella tendon or something.
Alan
A handful of games that are like this cool tonight. And it just takes the spice right out of the game, doesn't it?
Don Hahn
If he doesn't play and it's a bummer.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. And if you recall a week ago, you know, I mean, how much has changed in the past week with the Knicks, right? They were riding a nine game win streak. They were playing the Thunder last Friday. They lost then they lost three in a row. And yeah, sure they won last game, but it's such a up and down roller coaster than last week. My point has to do with Isaiah Hartenstein. He made a few comments the week before last about comparing SGA the Brunson. And I don't know the exact tone because I didn't watch a video of it. I only saw what he said in text. First off, I don't like the idea of a player compare, comparing two other players to each other. Right. It just, it's just, just not good practice. It's distasteful. Second off, he said sga, sometimes I just get out of his way and let him operate. Whereas with Brunson, I had to set screens to get him open. That really, really irked me. Okay. It's all about what you've done for me lately. Isaiah. You were great last year. I Couldn't really care about you this year because you don't need to say that. We know SGA is an MVP candidate. He's a phenom. We know he's a better player. But Brunson has done a lot more for you, Isaiah. Okay? And getting you the money bag and getting you open and making you a better offensive player than you've done for him. And it really, really. You know, I may be overreacting. Maybe I'm fixated on the wrong things in life, but the fact that this wasn't really picked up. All right. And no one really made a big deal about it, it just makes me more.
Don Hahn
I think. I think he was being sort of silly. I don't. I don't think he was. I think not having the context on there, I think may have been everything.
Alan
Yeah. Again, I need to hear it. I mean, obviously you take it into the context in which the caller took it. You know, it looks like he's throwing shade. Not everybody knows how to be politically correct when complimenting a player. We see this in the media a lot, too. The feeling of, in order for me to talk up one guy, I gotta talk down another. Like, just. Just talk up your guy. All right, you're on Oklahoma City now. Talk up your guy. And in. The caller just admitted he is a better player than Brunson. But. So why can't you talk up your player? Why do you have to use the comparison of Brunson to talk up your guy? But we. He was asked.
Don Hahn
He's asked blatantly, what's the difference between playing with SGA and Brunson? It is the question.
Alan
I will say this. When I was working with the jets, what. Somebody had told me that what the jets did with players. A lot of organizations do this. Never answer the comparison question because you'll always get in trouble. Like, so, you know, what, what. What was this coach compared to Rex? Or what was this quarterback compared to that? Right. Yeah. You never don't answer because you can't win. And yeah, the. The Thunders PA PR director should just listen. If anybody compares SGA to Brunson, just say, listen, I'm not into comparisons. I'm just really happy with who I'm playing with right now. Because anything. Because now. Because now what you're going to do is you're going to talk up your guy. Like, you don't want to talk down your guy. And if you say, I think they're both great players. Well, wait a minute. You're trying to say that SGA is not better than Brunson. And then if you say, no, no, he is, well, then now you're throwing shade at Brunson. That's why you can't win the comparison questions. He shouldn't have answered it, but he did. And I think. And he has to come down Peter on the side of SGA because that's who he plays with. So. So there's got to be a victim in his answer and it has to be the other guy. That's why you don't answer that question. So I. I'm not gonna kill him for answering a direct question.
Don Hahn
I think. I still think he was mostly being silly. But hey, ever have everyone. If anyone wants to add a little juice tonight? Add some juice. Good. Let's go to angel in Union City. Hey, Angel.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, what's up, boys? How you doing?
Alan
Good.
Don Hahn
Yeah?
Peter Rosenberg
Okay. All right, cool. Two things now for the Jets. You gotta pick. Let's just say you gotta pick three for the upcoming year. If Aaron Rodgers, you know, comes back, would you stay with Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, or Breece Hall? You gotta pick one. You gotta pick two out of the three. Who. Who would you stay with? And my second quest, it's not a question, but it's a statement. I'm a Jets fan, obviously, but I think the super bowl winner of 2024 would be the Buffalo Bills. Even though they're in my conference and stuff like that. Like, you can't. You can't hate. You can't hate on Josh Allen. You can't say that he's a scrub or anything. He's just nice. And I think, I personally think he's better than. Yeah, you can't. You can't say that. I think he's a little better than Patrick Mahomes. That's just a bold statement. But I, I think, I think they go to the super bowl this year and they probably win.
Don Hahn
I love. I would love that, dude.
Alan
Yeah, I don't mean winning. I just like to see them get there. But. All right, so why do I have to choose between these three again?
Don Hahn
Because he asked you to.
Alan
All right, well, I got to stick to my normal formula. Lockdown corner, world class wide receiver, world class running back. I'm going to. I'm going to lose the running back.
Don Hahn
Well, I guess the question is, do you think Sauce Gardner is still that.
Alan
Well, that's the question. Right. But I would hope it wasn't a great season for him, but there's a tremendous amount of talent there. Same wasn't great season for Wilson either. Heck, it wasn't great season for anybody with the Jets. Honestly, everybody took a step back. So I'm going to bet that at least for Sauce, it was just one of those years. Wilson too. So I just look, I just look at the potential of each position and doesn't the running back always lose the face off? Peter. Just because even though the running back is becoming more and more important in the game, I can find other running backs. Can I find other great wide receivers? Can I find other great corners? Probably not as easily as I can find a great running back.
Don Hahn
Wilson. Wilson is tops regardless. And I think you're right, he may have taken a slight slide back as well. I still think it's absolutely Wilson. Sauce is interesting because he did not seem to be quite the same guy. Breeze hall is fascinating because I remember that show meeting Anthony. You probably still remember it too, when Anthony's like, oh, Breeze hall is the number one running back in fantasy football. And I was like, why? Really?
Michael
He was like, that'll be overall pick for most people.
Alan
Yeah.
Don Hahn
And, and Don, the reason I find that interesting is just like I don't pay attention to fantasy, which is a big, a really big piece of like, you know, understanding the value of running backs. So when, when he said Breece, I was like, breeze, when did Breece become that guy? It's just interesting how it played out because this year, now obviously there are other extenuating circumstances. He was not that.
Michael
Well, you want to hear where he is in the way too? Early projections for next year, Peter?
Don Hahn
Yes.
Michael
10Th, 10th. Still top 10. Still top 10 player. That if you have a top, if you're in a 10 team league, you should still probably take Breeze hall first in the first.
Don Hahn
How could. How could that be? And what am I missing? I think he's a really nice player, but like, what am I missing? I'm missing something. If you need three new reasons to love Jack wraps at Jack in the Box even more, here they are.

It had just been absolute madness the last week or so of taking the dogs out. It had just been. I just said Han, Don, twice.
Michael
No, let it go the first time. Second time. We're throwing the flag.
Don Hahn
You got to throw it the first time.
Alan
That's how he feels. Let Peter. Let Peter be.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you think.
Michael
You think it's it. You think it's on you. You think it's at you?
Don Hahn
Yeah, he thinks it's a shot. He thinks it's me making a statement.
Michael
Oh, my goodness.
Don Hahn
Why don't you put Don? Yeah, exactly. Well, I can't confuse my name first. It would really be something if I jumped in and just said, it's Rosenberg. Han and Don. Wow. I apologize, Don Hahn and Rosenberg. But yeah, it was. It would have just been so bad, Don. And now today you walk out and It's. It's like 35 degrees and relative to what it's been, it's been. It's amazing. Now, what are they saying about this snow? We get anything or no?
Alan
Yeah, I guess it depends on where you are. I don't think it's anything crazy.
Don Hahn
Sounds like not much like a dusting. All right, listen, I'm just. I'm just happy that when I take out the dogs today, like, I don't have to legitimately bundle up. Like, I'm a. I'm a person Don, who I throw on my winter hat and I grab a winter jacket and I could Be wearing a T shirt and flip flops. I'm good. The problem with the last five days or so was or maybe seven days, every time I went to take them out, I had to like tuck in my shirt and like maybe wear a sweatshirt and then the jacket to me just to go outside. Like, I couldn't though. I live on a cross street where the air that comes off, you know the new what New York cross streets are like, particularly on the water. It was unmanageable. It was just absolutely crazy. Last call, crew. It's time to go to you. 1-800-919-3776. Rob wants to start us off in Whippany with a Rangers question. What's up, Rob?
Peter Rosenberg
What's up, guys? How are.
Alan
I know it's a big football weekend, but Don, just want to get your thoughts real quick on the Rangers. Ever since that January 2nd game against.
Peter Rosenberg
The Bruins, you know, obviously they've won.
Alan
Two games, lost in overtime. They lost that game to the Capitals. But you know, just watching them play.
Peter Rosenberg
I feel like they've looked a lot better. The power play scored a couple times last night. Igor looked pretty good at netting his first game back.
Alan
Just want to get your thoughts. You know, they're only three or four points back of a postseason spot. Want to know if you think I'm crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
You're feeling a little better about the team going forward.
Alan
You should be. You should feel better because they are playing better. They're not playing to the level they did last year. I think that ship sailed, Rob. But a playoff team, why not? They're four points out of a playoff spot. I think they're better than Philadelphia, Columbus, you know, Detroit, some of the teams that they're playing, I think on paper they're better, but they're also three points away from being the worst team in the conference. You got to start winning and being more consistent. You know, they've got five of a possible eight points over the last four games. That's good. But you know, don't go out to Vegas, Colorado and Utah and come back with like one point in six games. Now you're right back to where you were before. So in any sport, Peter, it's about finding consistency, being good and being good again and being good again after that. I mean, they haven't won back to back games in nearly two months. So last night was a step in the right direction for sure. Now let's see what you can do against the best team in the NHL in Vegas tomorrow. Then you got to go to Colorado On Tuesday, they're a playoff team, so let's see them do it two, three, four times in a row and get going. So they have played better, but they still have a long way to go and they still have to find that consistency and do it way more often than they've done it over the last couple of months.
Don Hahn
Let's go to Matt in the car. Hey, Matt.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, Good evening, guys. Thanks so much for taking the call. Congrats on the show.
Alan
Thank you.
Don Hahn
Thanks, buddy.
Peter Rosenberg
I. Listen, before I get to my Detroit Lions question, I just want to say I've been a loyal listener for so long. And Don, I actually remember the episode where you guys locked me in as a fan for life. It was the infamous baseball etiquette when a caller chastised Michael for jinxing Chin Ming Wong's perfect game.
Alan
That was a while ago.
Peter Rosenberg
I, I remember driving home from work and I, I had to pull over from laughing so hard and I have never looked back from you guys. That was, that's an all time moment.
Alan
Thank you, Matt. I appreciate. That was a long time ago. So we've had.
Don Hahn
Are there drops from that day, Don?
Alan
I don't think so. I don't remember hearing any. But you know, Ching Ming Wong, I mean, Anthony, off the top of your head, when was the last time you pitched for the Yankees?
Michael
2007.
Alan
Yeah. So, yeah, going 18 years ago, for God's sakes.
Peter Rosenberg
That, that was like a Michael K all time branch defending himself. But, and, and also, guys, just as a fan, I just want to say to both of you, it is so awesome to see you guys end up with everything you've wanted both on and off the air. Peter, I know since you joined the show you've been through some ups and downs as well, but I'm just so happy to see you guys really come into your own. Like I said, just as individuals and not as entertainers on the bike.
Don Hahn
It's.
Peter Rosenberg
I take so much pride in being a listener because I'm so happy for you guys.
Alan
Oh, thank you, Matt. That's awful nice.
Don Hahn
That's like, that's. Thanks, Matt.
Alan
So what do you got today?
Michael
Oh, Lions are going all the way.
Alan
If, if this was the old West, Jacob would be Billy the Kid.
Don Hahn
Oh, no, he's killing you. He's killing you dead.
Alan
You wouldn't be able to turn around.
Don Hahn
Exactly. In fact, the whole concept of a duel would be different because the second you take the first walk away one, it's click, click. Why won't you click now, now, by the way, Don, I think I have to move the seat.
Alan
Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. How so move what seat?
Don Hahn
So. So, you know, I went to mb White Plains, right? And shout out to those guys, to Jimmy and Alfonso and everybody who helped me out getting my. My new GLC. So we got the SUV, but that's a smaller. It's the smaller of the SUVs, right, Don? And we were going back and forth about which one to get. We ended up going with the smaller one. And I. I put the. The. The doona. Car seat in the c. The glc, and I put her on the passenger side because I thought, well, that way. I was listening to you, Don. You know, whoever's driving, if you're driving alone, you're still able to see the baby, right? And if you have to reach the baby and reach if need be.
Alan
Mm.
Don Hahn
And then I sat in the passenger seat the other day with the seat behind me. And my wife especially. First of all, my wife generally drives in a car like Denzel Washington in Training Day, okay?
Alan
She's. She's.
Don Hahn
She is sitting back and relaxed. But now, particularly with her being nine and a half months pregnant, she's not gonna be able to sit that close up in the seat with the thing behind her. So I think I gotta move it behind me. I gotta unclick. So I don't want to unclick. I think I have to.
Alan
Who. So you're. Who normally drives me after she has the baby, who's gonna be driving to and fro. You are. Me.
Don Hahn
So probably me. So it still makes more sense for it to be behind me.
Alan
Yeah.
Don Hahn
Is that what you're saying?
Alan
Yes. Because she's gonna be the one that's probably gonna reach. If she spits up or if she needs something, it's gonna be easier for her to reach.
Don Hahn
So it may. It does make more sense. But in this immediate. I thought it made sense to do passenger side. And now here I am. And, you know, I love this car. It drives great. It's fantastic. And you know, Jimmy from Mby White Plains, he was at. You know, we went back and forth. Should I go up one? And now I'm thinking. Don, I think I went. I may have went too small.
Alan
Now hear me right up against the seat. Now, have you thought about two car seats in. In. Because in this sense, like, because it's. You're only hooking in the base, and then you take the seat out and basically, for the first few months, the baby is like, in the car seat and you're taking it around all over the place, holding the car seat by the handle until you take the baby out. But have you ever thought about if you had the two bases so you have a chance, you can plug it into the passenger side and you can plug it into the driver's side and just have that luxury. Now does shut out those two seats for a third person to sit. But if you don't ever have a third person sitting and if you do, you just take out one of them and plug it back in. That'll be a pain. But if you had the two, then you have the option of putting the baby in either side.
Don Hahn
Yeah. And I guess only the side that would be uncomfortable is only once the actual seat is plugged in. The base itself is not the problem.
Alan
No, not at all. It.
Don Hahn
It's the seat that like actually only almost touches the seat. It's a. It's. It's an interesting thought by you, Don. I'm going to take this under advisement.
Alan
That means. It means having two, because I don't know if you can get two bases. You might physically have to buy two car seats, which could be a way. But you know what? You put this all on the, on the registry and you get it. It's taken care of.
Don Hahn
Let's go to. Let's go to Steve, who has a point that I find interesting.
Alan
Steve.
Don Hahn
Hey, Steve. Hey, buddy.
Peter Rosenberg
Peter.
Alan
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Hey, can you repeat again what you said about the jets running back? What did you say about him?
Don Hahn
I said when we run into the regular season, I could not believe that people thought of him as highly as they did.
Alan
And what do you think of the.
Peter Rosenberg
Jets offensive line and defensive line?
Don Hahn
You are right.
Peter Rosenberg
We need to get rid of Tattenbaum and Rex Ryan. And everybody was telling what do we have great talent or good talent on this team? We need someone to come in like you and evaluate every single position. I think we're overrated.
Alan
What we are.
Peter Rosenberg
What does our record tell us for the past three years?
Alan
Well, that's it, right? What good is talent if it's not going to get you wins? And I. But the question, Steve, is did we overrate it or they just happen to have all just had a bad year? Because that's what it felt like. Like Sauce and Wilson and Al, they all just seemed to have a. A bad year all at the same time. But I do think it's on the table. But how did they win seven games with no quarterback last year? Like, how did that happen?
Peter Rosenberg
You know, I called before the first game of the season, talked to Legretta. And I said, how are we going to stop the run without. I said, Al woods without. Not just him. And we couldn't stop the run because they cut all the 3B players who.
Alan
Aren'T from the first day. San Francisco ran all over him on opening day.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I mean a defensive line can't stop the run and it exposed everyone else.
Alan
Well, here's what, here's what I think is the killer, Steve. And listen, Salah was the coach on opening day. But here's what I really do think happened to this jets team. I'm telling you, if, and I'm not saying Salah was a great coach, but if they, if Woody kept his fat hands out of it and let Salah be the coach the rest of the way, they're probably an 8, 9 win team, possibly or at least been alive come December. But that defense went south the second that Ulbricht all of a sudden became the head coach. I think then the defense. Listen, they still would have had a bad year, Steve, but I still think they would have gotten more out of this team. Salah just knew how to get the most out. He wasn't a great coach, Peter, but Zach Wilson was their coach, was their quarterback. He's a third string quarterback now in Denver and they got seven wins. And then you replace Zach Wilson with a guy that threw for almost 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns and you take a step back. It has to be because of the coach, right? I think if he leaves Solomon Place, they're at least a seven win team, if not eight, which means they would have gone into December alive for a playoff spot and we would be having the same conversation again. I don't want to take away. Sauce was not great. Sauce wasn't great. When Saleh was here, there was a lot of issues, but boy, did it go south after the firing.
Don Hahn

I was just listening to where it was going down. You know what I mean?
Alan
Where'd it go?
Don Hahn
Hey, guys. I'm not exactly sure. What record is this, Jacob?
Peter Rosenberg
It's LiAngelo's new song, Tweaker.
Don Hahn
Oh, this is the Leangel. I've heard so many. Turn it up. Let me hear this. Are people. Jacob, you're the young, cool, cool one. Well, you and Anthony both are, but you're on the more hip hop leaning side. People are. People legit unironically are into that song, right?
Alan
Yeah, I am too. I've probably.
Peter Rosenberg
This is the fourth time I've listened to it today.
Don Hahn
I don't. And it's not ironic. You really like it? Yeah, I really.
Peter Rosenberg
But it's not like, all right, this is. He's gonna be one of my favorite artists. He just says, you know, it's a good song. You know, it gets me hype. It also has that kind of nostalgic feeling to it.
Don Hahn
So it sounds like people are saying it's giving like early 2000s, 99, 2000 cash money vibes or. Or no limit ish vibes. Is that what they're saying?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. It feels like, you know, I'm booing up my PS2 or Xbox and I'm about to play NFL street or put.
Don Hahn
On Madden or something. Got it. Got it. Yeah. That's liangelo Ball there. Done with a record that people actually like.
Alan
Oh, really? That's what you're talking about being ironic?
Don Hahn
Yes. Is that, like, on New Year's Day, I saw, like, my buddy Kaz tweeting, like, wait, is the. Is the best new song? Liangelo Ball. So. And I was like, wait a second. What is going on here? Here? Let's go to the phones, get to as many as we can before we get up out of here and have a weekend. Barbara in Middletown. Hey, Barbara.
Barbara
Hey. So nice. So nice to hear you guys. The new format. I'm loving it. I'm loving it. It's younger. It's. I love the music. The music is. Has taken us a step up. So you. You got this seating arrangement all wrong, Peter. I. I've actually got three things that I could say. But. But I' Jacob, bless me. But you've got the seating arrangement all wrong, Peter. You're going to be sitting. What you need to check out is, is Natalie comfortable sitting behind you? Because she's not going to be up in the front with you after Guadalupe comes along. Okay. She's going to be in back with the baby. I'm just telling you. That's what my husband said. He said he never realized that when he. When he married me that I would not be in the front anymore, that I would be back with the kids. But I'm just thinking that that's. That's the arrangement that's going to happen.
Don Hahn
It happens quite. I know that does happen quite a bit. I certainly am aware that that is.
Barbara
On the table, especially if she's nursing. And I'm hoping that she is going to do that. It's the natural way. If it's the way we were, the way we evolved to who we are now. And don't. Don't buy the formula. Save it. You can save a lot of money, but no pressure. No.
Don Hahn
No pressure at all, Barbara. No.
Barbara
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just relax. And it was much easier with the second kid than the first, so. So, you know, keep going. And then I just want to say, Don, even though I don't. Even though I'm not a Ranger fan, in fact, I'm a Ranger hater, I have found myself sometimes just getting in the car, and if you're calling the game, I leave it on that's how good you are.
Alan
Well, thank you so much.
Barbara
I mean, it is. Oh, it. It really. You do have the rhythm that. I don't know, it's just exciting. It's just you. You capture what seeing live hockey is like.
Alan
That means a lot to me. I appreciate it. What team do you root for then?
Barbara
Yeah. Oh, the devil.
Alan
Okay.
Barbara
Yeah. Yeah, the devil.
Don Hahn
Come on.
Barbara
I grew up in. I grew up in Texas. It's kind of funny that I'm. But I love. I love hockey because when you see it live, you. It's just amazing how fast it is and how much ground they cover.
Don Hahn
But it's arguably the best live sport. Barbara. And thank you so much for the call. I don't know if I'm gonna tell my wife, hey, if you're thinking about breastfeeding or not, Barbara in Jersey says you need to. I'm a don. I don't think that's a smart play for me. I'm gonna go ahead and go with the flow.
Alan
No, you leave that up.
Don Hahn
Yeah, I don't know if it's my. My spot to decide that. Let's go to Sean. Sean, I know you're gonna say here, you're gonna say the car seat needs to be in the middle of the car, right?
Peter Rosenberg
Yes, sir. I have a 6 year old. My wife and I had a kid, you know, six years ago, and we found out for other people that the safest spot for the kid is going to be in the middle of the back, which kind of makes it a little bit more difficult to get your mirror or whatever. You have to be able to see your kid from when you're driving.
Don Hahn
My car doesn't have Mike. My car doesn't have the metal bars to snap into in the middle seat.
Alan
That's the problem is a new car.
Peter Rosenberg
And it doesn't have them. No. That's odd.
Don Hahn
Yeah, the middle. The metal bars, Don, they're on both sides. They're not in the middle.
Alan
Yeah, I don't. I don't ever remember there being anything in the middle.
Don Hahn
I've heard people say that middle is the ideal place, but like those clips, they grab the metal bars, those are only on the passenger and driver side, guys. Coming up next, we have New York Knicks basketball on 1050. You can get the Cotton bowl until it's joined in progress later right here on 880. Don, enjoy the playoffs this weekend, my friend.
Alan
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. You enjoy it as well? Can't wait for Monday.
Don Hahn
Anthony Jacob. Fantastic job. Me, Alan and Don will be back Monday at 3pm Everyone enjoy the playoffs. Have a safe, wonderful weekend. Thanks for listening to the Don Hahn and Rosenberg Podcast. I don't want to know how the sausage is made, man. I just want to know.
Alan
It's good.
