Peter Rosenberg

Peter Rosenberg
The puck drops at seven, so their pregame will begin at 6:30 right here on 880 ESPN. So you and I have as Don Legreco will be calling the game tonight with Dave Maloney. So that'll be great to listen to.
Caller
Love Donnie on the call.
Peter Rosenberg
But since we only have one segment left in the show, what do you say we just talk to the people?
Caller
You mean Last Call Crew?
Peter Rosenberg
Is that we're calling it?
Caller
Oh yeah, baby.
Peter Rosenberg
Last Call Crew.
Caller
Let's talk to them.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's get to 800 now. 193776. Let's see how many we can get in.
Caller
Keep going.
Peter Rosenberg
Right? Let's just fly through them. So let's begin with. Is it Amit in Ahmet in Bayside? Amit?
Caller
Yeah, that's me.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay. Ahmed, how you doing?
Caller
How you doing, guys?
I was gonna ask a Nick's question.
But you know, the subject changed into nudity. So. I have a question.
All right.
My 12 year old boy is asking me about manscaping and I don't know what to tell.
Well, what did he. What did he ask?
Yeah, like he's.
He's got.
He's got an evolving bush.
Okay, describe it exactly.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. Well, it's evolving.
Caller
Okay, you hung up. Is he gone?
Peter Rosenberg
Wow. Yeah, I mean it seemed like he needed advice.
Caller
I wish the description. I wish he would have played the radio. Did you dump two or just hang up on him?
Peter Rosenberg
That sounds like it could be a great album name.
Caller
Well, maybe the group Bush. Bush could have made if they come back Evolving Bush or a campaign if one of the younger Bush children runs for office again.
Peter Rosenberg
That's no. Like I'm not Dennis in North Carolina. Hey, Dennis.
Caller
Hey, guys. Yeah, I was going to talk about something else, but you're talking about nudity. And I was in. I played baseball in college, and we did not see much nudity, except for in the showers, but in the locker rooms, whenever a guy would walk around kind of flaunting it, we'd be like, yo, what is Scotty doing? Like, who does he think he is? Just walking around, like, showing off, right? Some. It's a little weird sometimes. It's weird.
Listen, it's. It's situation.
Peter Rosenberg
You played nutshot, right? That's what you played. Just let him have.
Caller
Yeah, we had the weapon.
Peter Rosenberg
Yep.
Caller
No, sometimes you gotta. You gotta regulate.
Peter Rosenberg
Happens.
Caller
What are the movies you guys said that might not age well? Have you seen Dodgeball?
Peter Rosenberg
Of course.
Caller
It's not. It's not good, is it?
Peter Rosenberg
So it is absolutely still funny.
Caller
Is it good?
It is hilarious. My girl, my girlfriend hates stupid funny, was what she calls it. Anything with Will Ferrell in it. She does not watch. She is not like, stupid funny. And over the holiday, watch Dodgeball.
Anything with Will Ferrell.
Peter Rosenberg
Anything.
Caller
Anything. She hates old school.
Respectfully.
Peter Rosenberg
He's so good at all.
Caller
Respectfully. Why did you marry this joyless soul?
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, boy.
Caller
That is horrible.
It's not. But we're not married.
Peter Rosenberg
No.
Caller
There you go. Oh, perfect. Okay. Got him.
Peter Rosenberg
That should have revealed something.
Caller
I'm holding it. I'm holding it off a little.
Yeah, I get it. You got to get her to get this right, because that's such a broad. Will Ferrell movies is such a broad description. She doesn't want to watch Elf on Christmas.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, Elf.
Caller
Great. She'll, like, tolerate Elf.
What about old school?
Does kind of play the same kind of guy, though. He played the same character. Like, it's stupid funny. I think he. Personally, I think he's hilarious. I mean, he can't stand.
I. Honestly, it's a shocking call. I don't know if I've ever heard of a person say, you know, I can't stand that Will Ferrell. Yeah, I don't know if I've ever heard of that.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's new. Yeah, that one's new.
Caller
We're watching. We're watching Dodgeball and I'm crying left. And, you know, Ben still puts on an amazing white goodman. And so does Jason Bateman. Yes, Jason Bateman as the stupid commentary guy.
Right.
Average Joe's aver strategy Cotton.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see how it works out.
Caller
Let's see how it works out. Joanie loves Chachi, and I'm on the couch dying, laughing. I Look over at my girlfriend. She's just got this blank stare. I'm like, you don't have a soul, do you? I don't think this is gonna work.
Peter Rosenberg
She is a cold woman.
Caller
She is definitely a fellow that is very, very. Thank you for the comment. I gotta tell you, that's very tough. Like, feral to me. It's like, if someone comes up to you and goes, you know, there are two people. I just hate them when I see them. Will Ferrell, you know, and that monster Julia Roberts that. You just go, you don't like Will Ferrell or Julia Roberts? Like, you see them and you smile when you see.
Peter Rosenberg
Absolutely.
Caller
If Julia Roberts smile on camera doesn't make you feel better, feel a certain way or emotionally or emotional, there's something going on.
Peter Rosenberg
What's your guilty pleasure movie like? One that's embarrassing to admit that, like, you. If it's on, if you're flipping channels and it's on, you just stop. Cause I gotta watch it. Guilty Pleasure. But not something funny or guy movie, but more of like one of those mo movies that, you know, like, people might. Might think a certain way about you if you admitted you love this movie.
Caller
That's a.
Peter Rosenberg
It's guilty pleasure.
Caller
That's a really good question. I'll give you mine I'm proud of. Maybe this will jog me, but, yeah, maybe I'll disagree with you and go, I don't find that guilty. I find that to be quality Pretty Woman. But is that guilty?
Peter Rosenberg
Yes. Come on. It's a. It's a.
Caller
It's a girl.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a mushy love. Yeah, it's a whole thing. But it's like, that story is adorable. She's adorable in the movie.
Caller
She's the cutest human who's ever lived.
Peter Rosenberg
And yet she's a hooker in the movie.
Caller
Which is amazing. Sure. Yeah. Oh, Exactly. The combination of all.
Peter Rosenberg
So she's adorable, but when you realize what she really is, you're like, wait, why? Why is she so adorable? But it's just how she. Because.
Caller
Because humans are complex.
Peter Rosenberg
And wouldn't you want to be the.
Caller
Beauty of a good film?
Peter Rosenberg
You'd love to be Richard Gere. You'd love to be that character. So anyways, that's my guilty pleasure.
Caller
Guilty Pleasure.
Peter Rosenberg
That's not a guy movie.
Caller
No. So if you mean girly movies in terms of, like, your wife likes to watch it, but you also really like to watch it.
Peter Rosenberg
My wife doesn't really love to watch that.
Caller
I don't want to call this a guilty Pleasure. Because I think it's gone on to be, like, historic for many reasons, but I'm sure a lot of Titanic. But I'm sure I like Titanic, but I don't rewatch it. Not that too long. I'm going to a show instead. I love Sex and the City Fair. Okay. Grown on me greatly. Like, when it first came out, I thought the way it was written and acted was, like, cheesy and fast and stupid. And now I find it to be great. Having lived in New York the last 18 years, I love Spot every location. Like, I love Sex in the City, I think. I guess what, I love the new Sex in the City. I love sjp. I'm a Sarah Jessica Parker fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay?
Caller
So, yeah, I like Sex in the City.
Peter Rosenberg
There you go. There's your guilty pleasure. Yeah, that's kind of all on the lines. I was.
Caller
Yeah, There you go.
Peter Rosenberg
Langs in Stamford. Hey, Lang.
Caller
Yeah. Back to the next gentleman. Come on, keep focus.
Peter Rosenberg
I really.
Caller
All right. Yeah. Let me preface this comment. I'm a tips guy. I love them. Since the Van Gundy days. Jeff. I don't buy into the hole. They, you know, they run them into the ground. The players overplays them. But when you shoot 24 from three point man, okay, in the last three games, and you've lost all three, you got to put in a shooter. And this guy, Matt Ryan, he's lit the Knicks up when he was on the Pelicans. I watch every game, all right? You can't tell me that you can't find them 10 to 15, 20 minutes, all right? While preserving some of the players to put them in. The Knicks can't throw the ball into the ocean. And, you know, Don, I gotta be honest. When you look back two, three, four months from now, and we've lost some games that we should have won, and now we don't have a favorable matchup in the playoffs. These games do matter. I'd like to get your take on that.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, but they do.
Caller
Of course they do.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, they all matter. And you're already now predicting they're going to lose a whole bunch of games and they've lost three. They got to play the Raptors tomorrow night, and we'll see. But I wouldn't start, you know, feeling like this whole thing's going to come crashing down. Matt Ryan is a nice story playing for his hometown team, but Matt Ryan's not saving your season. Now, is it Worth? Get him in there and see what he can do. Maybe he gets hot. Maybe now he is a 40% career shooter from three. So he has a. That's his thing. He is a shooter. But, you know, are there pockets of times where you're like, man, we're just ice cold. Let's get a guy out there, see if he can knock some down. Maybe, you know, like, that's all the stuff that's now on the table when you start to struggle. So it's all fair to throw out there. Casey in Farmingville. Hey, Casey.
Caller
Hey, how you doing? I wanted to touch on the whole thing. I fall on the same line. I'm not a fan of Anything Will Fail does. I think he's extremely obnoxious. I do not find any of it funny.
So you are a serial killer is what you're saying.
Peter Rosenberg
It just doesn't get the humor. You don't get the.
Caller
You watched Old School and you did not find Old School funny.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's a good one.
Caller
No, no, I did give it an honest try and a lot of friends that were into it, but it's just not my thing. So, Vince, what do you like the Seinfeld comedy?
Peter Rosenberg
Do you like Vince Vaughn? Do you like those Get. You like, like Owen Wilson? Luke Wilson. Them, like, that whole crew. Like, do you find any of their stuff funny or is that whole crew.
Caller
Really, to be honest, you don't get them.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's it. It's just that kind of comedy.
Caller
Did you. Did you like. Did you like. Did you like. Like, how old are you?
39.
Do you like Farley and Spade movies or anything like that?
Oh, of course. Yeah.
Yeah, that's classic.
Peter Rosenberg
Of course. Wow. That's very, very similar.
Caller
Yeah, it's. It's. You didn't. You didn't like, like Farrell doing George Bush on snl? You've never liked any of the things he's done?
No.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Caller
He never laughed at the word strategy.
Kind of the same character.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's fair. But you know what? All right, of last one, Adam Sandler, do you like him?
Caller
Oh, yes, Adam Sandler. I do, but I think that he.
Peter Rosenberg
Does a lot of this, his character.
Caller
A little bit more thoughtful, thought through. So I feel.
Peter Rosenberg
All right. I get what you're doing.
Caller
I mean, that's fine.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, look, it's not everyone. We all like different things. Casey is not a fan. That's fine.
Caller
Old school, though.
Peter Rosenberg
That's such a good idea.
Caller
Wait, hold on. Anchorman. Like, imagine not enjoying Anchorman.
Peter Rosenberg
I do not believe you.
Caller
Like, I just. Fair, I guess maybe also because we're in broadcasting, the Level to which I love anchorman and know practically every word.
Peter Rosenberg
When you understand the nuance of the background of the. That whole thing. Yes, absolutely do. All right, I'm going to give you a little roulette right now. We have seven minutes to go.
Caller
Here we go.
Peter Rosenberg
We have a direct jets head coach call. Then we have Griffin and Richard.
Caller
Richard, Griffin was good yesterday.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Caller
And he brought it. And he was there for day one. Let's see. Let's see what he does on day two.
Peter Rosenberg
Griffin, how are you? Good to talk to you.
Caller
I'm good.
I.
Maybe you talk to Don with this tomorrow. I have something that you guys could do with whoever has the lowest in the picks. So, Alan, you are a Yankee fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Yes.
Caller
John is a Met fan. Peter, your big. Your big thing is the commander.
Peter Rosenberg
That's correct.
Caller
Sure.
Well, the loser, Don, if Dom loses, he has to wear a Yankee jersey out in public. Alan, if you lose, you have to wear a Mets jersey out in public. Peter, if you lose, you have to wear a giant jersey out in public.
I don't think it's enough.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, there's not enough public. You know, that's the only thing, Griffin.
Caller
It'S going out to eat.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I wouldn't wear a jersey out to eat.
Caller
Nope.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that's the only thing, Griffin. I like. I like. Look, you've got a plan. You've got an idea here where it's something that should be really effective. But again, wearing a jersey once versus I have a Mets tattoo because of dpietro.
Caller
Yeah, listen, I'm. We're not.
Peter Rosenberg
That's forever.
Caller
We're not going to go that far. And that was a long term bet. That was like a very long term bet.
Peter Rosenberg
That was a whole season.
Caller
Whole season.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Caller
This is a playoff bets pick. It doesn't have to. I get it. But it has to have more stakes than wearing a jersey. I could wear a Giants jersey any day. What one person's going to come up to me and go, rosenberg, why are you wearing a Giants jersey? But otherwise I just look at a random New Yorker wearing a Giant jersey.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, exactly.
Caller
There's no.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not like you have to be on national television and do this or something.
Caller
Yeah. And even so you'd go, it's a bet. I lost. I'm wearing a jersey. I mean, remember, that's what happened back in the day when Don and Michael had a bet and Michael dressed up in the Rangers thing. People took pictures with him.
Peter Rosenberg
That actually was kind of cool.
Caller
Yeah, it worked.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, that was fun.
Caller
Now if you were to tell me, like, for example, Peter has to do. Whoever loses has to broadcast live from. From an outdoor location in the nude. That's not really doable. I mean, if it was your son, it would be. That'd be winning the bet.
Peter Rosenberg
Very comfortable.
Caller
But in a full clown suit or something in public where people are walking by and you're dressed next clown the neck.
Peter Rosenberg
When we do an event. When we do one of the.
Caller
Well, we actually.
Peter Rosenberg
And we have one coming up.
Caller
We have one coming up.
Peter Rosenberg
Super Bowl. Everybody keep. Be ready.
Caller
Yeah, there will be a Super Bowl. Although my availability, of course, is going to be subject to.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm going to write you a hall pass anyway. I don't think.
Caller
I don't think that's going to pass.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm sure it won't. But yeah. And so at this. When we. When we do this show dressed as a clown show and you have to dress like this.
Caller
And now all your photos with the listeners are. You're looking like a clown. And now, now a hundred people all have a photo of you looking like a. That's a little something. You see what I'm saying?
Peter Rosenberg
Something. Yeah, but we won't be done by then.
Caller
We might not be.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, that's true. Somebody might already be. Mathematically, it could be over or the loser.
Caller
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Caller
So it's worth considering.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we've got till Friday probably to come up with a plan.
Caller
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Because we'll do our final picks on.
Caller
And this is going to be interesting because we'll get. We'll get six games in week one, we'll get four games in week two, and then two and one. We'll get 13 games left here to play with. It's a lot. It's a lot of games.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, no, it'll. It'll feel legit and I think it's going to be more fun. So. Yeah, definitely looking forward to that. People do bring up one thing, though, Peter, again, as you guys were on YES Network for a long time, no longer.
Caller
And I keep hearing not on TV currently. No, Currently.
Peter Rosenberg
Right. Currently we're not on. Yeah. Well, the question that keeps coming up from a lot of people on social media is, you know, how come you're not on yes. Or are you gonna be on yes. Or you gotta get on yes. And I think people need to let that go. But I do feel like there's a. Not a demand but a desire for us to be as simulcast.
Caller
There definitely is.
Peter Rosenberg
And I think we should let the people know that there are, you know, there's certain conversations that could happen.
Caller
Absolutely. And no matter what, I think there will be a visual component to this show. Sooner than later.
Peter Rosenberg
Sooner than later.
Caller
Yeah, sooner than later. And I'm excited about that. But right now, I love that we're building the radio audience. I love that people are going to sign up for the podcast, which you should do wherever you find podcasts, if you already subscribe, make sure you rate and review us all that give us five stars. We need all of that. But I do think there'll be a TV component which does add a lot when it comes to things like paying off a bet. Yes, right. Like things like that are certainly helpful. But we will figure it out by Friday. And if you're late to the show, we are gonn to start a new picks contest for the playoffs where we bet every single game, pick every single game the rest of the way. So we're excited. And I do think, Anthony, I think you'd agree. I think we got to keep Ballard on the graphic. He had a hell of a season. He deserves to be on the graphic, don't you think?
Well, if we're starting anew, is Ballard going to make a bet?
That's an interesting question. Does anyone who's on the graphic end up in. That means you're also in the bet.
Peter Rosenberg
You can't just be on the graphic and then you're scot free if you.
Caller
Boone's getting a tattoo.
Aaron Boone. Now, will Aaron Boone go on the playoff run with us? Because that would be big for us to keep that. You know, there was a lot of beef between, you know, me and Don. Had some issues down the stretch there with Michael about guests who we wanted for our show. Aaron Boone staying a part of this thing moving forward. You know, you're a huge Yankee fan.
Peter Rosenberg
Absolutely.
Caller
Don and I both have a very good relationship with the Yankee manager.
Peter Rosenberg
So how do we work this out? Can we. Do we need to have some discussions?
Caller
I think that Boone will say. Yeah, I think Boone will rock with us.
I'll say this about the ballot thing, by the way, I think Ballard stay on the graphic. Makes a lot of sense. I'll talk to Jarv and everything, but in terms of obviously the betting, It'll be the three of you, maybe 45, 47. He's got a lot going on. Maybe he takes a vaccine.
Yeah. And Bear, by the way, you know.
Who I was mad at?
Bear.
Bear not texting me was ridiculous over this.
Well, that refers to the fact that he was not with us for a limited period. Some of his pics. Got in a little bit late.
I saw him on Instagram all the time. I just needed one pic. It could have been bears.
Peter Rosenberg
Wow.
Caller
Did you see the look in his eyes? Did he look happy on Instagram?
Peter Rosenberg
No, I can't.
Caller
I don't. I can't say.
Peter Rosenberg
Certain outfits on. He's just staring at the camera like.
Caller
Yeah, I know. I just want to go home. I know. He said. I demanded here. I demanded a picture of him holding up a newspaper with the day's date. I needed proof of life. Should we talk to him? Should we talk to our guy? Oh, no. We gotta go.
Peter Rosenberg
We gotta go.
Caller
We can't.
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, yeah. It's unfortunate, but.
Caller
Richard, we'll talk to you tomorrow.
Peter Rosenberg
We did banter a little bit too much there, but I just thought. Because I know it's been a topic, so I just wanted to sort of just let.
Caller
No, we gotta figure it out.
Peter Rosenberg
Something's coming. We're. We're trying to make something happen, but it's what I do do. Yep.
Caller
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
At some point, we will hopefully have a video element to this show because it does feel like something that feels inevitable. So. Yeah, so he's always part of the show in one way or another. So. Don Lagreca on the call tonight. The Rangers and the Stars coverage is coming up momentarily, and we will all see you tomorrow. See you tomorrow, Pete.
Caller
Yep.
Peter Rosenberg
