Anthony
All right, so we. The numbers are out. Peter, I don't know if you looked
Peter
online, I have not seen it.
Anthony
The numbers are out for the final World cup game on Sunday. Argentina, Spain. Not a great game, but competitive. What do you think? I've got the actual number.
Peter
All right, what is the number? The US streaming and television US number, right?
Anthony
Yeah. No, no, it's the US number.
Peter
Give me 65 million.
Anthony
65 million. The actual number was 38 million 930. Let's say 39 million.
Peter
Okay.
Anthony
And it peaked between 545 and 6. So that's at the end of the game, pretty much at over 51 1/2 million.
Peter
Okay, what did I say? 59.
Anthony
You said 60.
Peter
61.
Anthony
Best finish for the best tournament ever. 38,937,000 viewers watched FIFA World Cup 2026 finals Sunday afternoon on Fox, the most watched soccer telecast in U.S. history. That's up 132% from the 2022 final. That did 16.8 million. Most watched non NFL telecast on any network since 2016. Just World Series game six on Fox did over 40 million. Peak audience of 51.6 million between 545 and six. Good numbers.
Peter
Those are good numbers. So let me ask you a question. What's the number if the US is playing?
Anthony
You know what I'm going to tell you, I'm going to surprise you.
Peter
Not that much better.
Anthony
It'll be better, but I don't think that much better. It might get to the like 61, 62. But if it did 30, if it did 39, I might do 42 because I think soccer fans were watching that game. You. And because here's the thing, if you're a US fan, you're invested, you're a soccer fan. It's a final. You've been watching. You're gonna watch the final. It's Sunday afternoon. You're gonna watch Right. If the US is involved. Like how, like what number was the US doing when. When they lost to Belgium. What was the final number there? Oh, it was 24, 25, something like that.
Peter
I think it may have peaked in the 30s.
Anthony
So you really think it's going to double the final? That's a lot. That's a lot.
Peter
But remember, it's Sunday, 3:00 clock and final. No, you're right. It would go up. I'd say it might be 10 million higher than it was.
Anthony
Yeah, yeah, maybe, maybe. But listen, those are incredible numbers.
Peter
I mean soccer is a beast, man. It's just. It's just a different animal.
Anthony
Yeah, it's different than anything you're gonna see. And it's every four years. I mean we. These are Olympic numbers, you know, because the Olympics are kind of the same thing. It's a rare event.
Peter
But what Olympic, What Olympic events do this?
Anthony
Well, well, Anthony, what was the number for US Canada, the gold medal game?
Rosenberg
I'm checking now. 20.7 in the US
Peter
so.
Rosenberg
Peaked at 26 million during overtime.
Anthony
Yeah.
Peter
So not, not a bad number.
Bus Rolney
Most pre watched.
Peter
Not this.
Rosenberg
The Most watched pre 9am sporting event in US history.
Peter
Well, that's a terrible time slot too.
Anthony
Yeah, that would have done a much better number if it was at 3 o' clock in the afternoon and not 8 o' clock in the morning.
Rosenberg
26 million.
Bus Rolney
That was good.
Rosenberg
That was.
Anthony
That's good.

Oh, hey bros. Gay. Hey, how you doing, Don? Don, before to the Cosby visual of you going to a garage sale, comparing it to Peters, talking about like these authentic kind of vintage threads, just making that analogy between, you know, walking down the street, you stop at the garage. Sally, maybe you're fiddling around with a Cosby DVD and it's like 50 cents. Just a hilarious thing. But to my point, guys, the, the LeBron conversation, his landing place. Yeah, I got the vibe that you were kind of underestimating the value of a Cleveland reemerg again with LeBron because he's got something to prove again, just like he had to prove when he came into the league. So I think that sandwiching those two kind of dynamics for his career, I think that's going to actually bring a lot of like marketability to, to, to LeBron James and just the NBA in general. The reason Cleveland is on the map at all for basketball is because of LeBron James in general. So I think you can kind of bring a level of nostalgia back into that, too, by bringing in combination to. With the championship chances as well. It's not like Cleveland's going anywhere either. And like, I think, you know, you say it's not a sexy thing. Yeah, Cleveland, Ohio. Like, what? You're not going to find those things there. But I think with the, you know, career kind of like winding down aspect coming at it from there. But where else, too, besides for LeBron to win? Like, I was thinking that, you know, I don't know what the budget looks like in San Antonio, but somewhere like that where he can, like, unite with Pop, who's always had kind of a relationship with, you know, to me.
Anthony
To me, the sexy one would be Philly. They haven't won since 1983. So he. So there would be that sexiness of like, hey, the Knicks hadn't won in 53 years. Philly hasn't won in 43 years. Remember, he's been back to Cleveland already. He's won the title in Cleveland. So if he wins the title in Cleveland. Been there, done that. If he goes to Miami, wins the title. Been there, done that. All right, he's not going to go. I don't think Golden State. Yeah, he'd win a title in Golden State, but Golden State's won a bunch of titles. San Antonio, I mean, that would be almost. That would almost cheapen it. Go to the team that went to the finals last year. I'm not saying Cleveland would be nothing because he would be going home. And it could be a story without him winning, that he went home. Nobody's gonna kill him if he doesn't win in Cleveland. He's already won there. But to me, Philadelphia is sexy. And listen, I'm no Philly fan, but 43 years without a championship, they haven't won since Dr. J.
Peter
It would be a huge thing for sure.
Anthony
And it's a big market. He gets to play with Jaylen Brown. I just. To me, that's sexier. But listen, it's in the eye of the beholder, right? I mean, I don't think there's any right or wrong answers. I just think going back to Cleveland, it's redundant. The only thing, the two things that I will give you about Cleveland, Peter, is that if he didn't win, he wouldn't get killed for it, because just going home would be a thing. And also, Cleveland would have a really good chance. They went to the conference final.
Peter
Well, that's the part that I think you're not giving enough credit to and
Anthony
so hey, they probably don't blow the 20 point lead in the first game if LeBron's there and now they're up one nothing. It changes the whole series. But from a sexy standpoint, going to Philadelphia and if he was able to win there, win with another team now he won with the Lakers, he's won with Miami, he's won with Cleveland, he'd win with a fourth team. He'll never catch Jordan going four, going six for six. But he'd win a fourth title with a fourth team, ending a 43 year curse in Philadelphia. To me, that would be sexy.
Peter
And it's just like random. I don't think it's going to happen, but I think the randomness of it makes it very interesting too Smalls here

Tomorrow's the big day before the birthday show. You know there's no show like that.
Anthony
No show like the birthday show. And also we should remind everybody because The Mets are a 220 vehicle tomorrow that we will at least start app only. And YouTube we should say Apple app and YouTube are always the go to and then we'll be joined by 880 a little bit later on. Yankees got a split double header tomorrow as well. They've got rained out because it's gonna be a tough night tonight. Weather wise. I don't think tomorrow's gonna be any gem either.
Peter
So now I did. I forgot something in ENN that I meant to. I actually cared about this and didn't get to it. Aaron Rodgers has finally reconnected with his estranged family.
Anthony
Yes. I saw this for the first time
Peter
in at least a decade. Rogers was together with the family, shared pictures with his mom, one with his dad and one with his brother Luke, and wrote another bonding week. Famous Jordan Rogers still not there.
Anthony
Hmm. I love Bobby. Well, Matt was asking on social media did the, did the numbers, were they the streaming numbers included in and I don't know. He said, I don't know if I'm being trolled, but he's like the peacock numbers. The games wasn't on Peacock.
Rich Eisen
That wasn't.
Peter
No, there were like somehow was on in like multiple places.
Anthony
I don't even. I'm sure they counted every number. They could now be water my friends. And he's got Bruce Lee as his avatar. That makes sense. Jeff Bezos is talking about like the most viewed things live broadcast and Super Bowl 60. Because LX is 60, right?
Caller or Guest
Yeah.
Peter
Yeah.
Anthony
137 points.
Peter
Really? Two biggest numbers. Not debate Give me Hillary and Trump.
Anthony
No.
Peter
No Oscars. No Hillary and Trump. Non sports.
Anthony
Not on this list here.
Peter
Nonsense. Is any of it political?
Anthony
No. Okay, well, one you should know, definitely. Because it gets brought up. It's among all the super. It's the one thing that's not a Super bowl on the most watched things.
Peter
I always thought that's the Oscar. It's the non.
Anthony
With 105 million.
Peter
105 million people.
Anthony
You should know that.
Peter
You're gonna be like, oh, okay, hold on, give me a second.
Anthony
And you're gonna be like, it's corny. And you probably didn't see it, might even hate it.
Peter
How often does it happen?
Anthony
No, it was a one time thing.
Peter
It was a one time.
Anthony
These two things are one time things.
Peter
They're both one time things, Anthony. You know what they are?
Rosenberg
I do not.
Peter
One time things that rated up over 100 million viewers.
Anthony
The way they broke it down here, that Super Bowl. And then there's an event that did between 125 and 150 million. And then this one in traditional television. So there might have been the things between the 105 and 150, but these are the three things that cover three different genres.
Peter
Just real quick, can you give me the eras?
Anthony
I'll tell you, I'll give you the year.
Peter
Okay.
Anthony
1969.
Peter
Moon land.
Anthony
The moon Land.
Peter
All right, give me that.
Anthony
And 1983, TV like a show.
Peter
Oh, the Dallas finale.
Anthony
No, the Mash. Mash finale.
Peter
Sorry, what am I doing?
Anthony
Because you always see that, like, just like it's. Listen, I'll be honest.
Peter
Was that big?
Anthony
It's crazy. I'm surprised. It was only between 125 and 150 million to watch the moon landing.
Peter
Right.
Anthony
I would almost think everyone that had a television watch that now. I. I wasn't alone. I was. I was one, I want to say was in the middle of the day, so probably affected it. If they landed on the moon at 8 o' clock at night, how would anybody not watch that?
Peter
Well, also there were less TVs. You know, you could have a home there without a TV.
Anthony
No, like in 1969, there could still
Peter
be homes without TVs. People hanging on. People like your dad. Well, I'm all good.
Anthony
You know what was a thing back then that would never happen now? People gathered outside of an appliance store, gotta watch this. And they'd have the TV on in the front window.
Peter
I know, because they show it in movies at least.
Anthony
And I don't know if they still do this Peter, they probably threw it up in Times Square.
Peter
Oh, yeah.
Anthony
Now, I don't know. Did they have a big jumbotron type of thing in Times Square in 1969?
Peter
I don't know. And how many people at the time knew that the moon landing was fake? That's the question.
Anthony
How do people think it's fake?
Peter
I'm starting. I'm getting slightly pushed that direction, but slightly.
Anthony
But they left things on the moon,
Peter
so how do we know? I could see it still. Yeah, you can see it right now.
Anthony
They've got ways to be able to look at the. See the footprints and everything up there. Now Anthony has.
Peter
Anthony, tell me the truth.
Rich Eisen
Yes.
Anthony
Between me, you, just us girl and the walls.
Rosenberg
Yep.
Caller or Guest
Sure.
Peter
Has any part of you gotten pushed towards. Maybe it's not real.
Rosenberg
For me personally, no.
Peter
Okay.
Rosenberg
That's just me, though.
Peter
I just. I don't know why. It's like, when I do look at how bad the video looks, I'm like, wow, they were on the moon.
Anthony
We're lucky we had video.
Peter
How did we have.
Rosenberg
We were at war.
Peter
How do we have video, though?
Anthony
Well, we had video. It was poor video.
Peter
How do they even do the video? Who shot the video?
Anthony
They did.
Peter
They brought a camera also.
Anthony
Wouldn't you. Could you imagine? They land, they go, we forgot the camera. Damn. What do we do? I will draw pictures.
Peter
By the way, Don, if you want the. If you want the show to go and we got. Let's be honest, sports wise tomorrow, God only knows if you want the show to go completely haywire and have phone calls filled for four hours. If we do a prove to me that the moon landing did or didn't happen. I bet we're four hours in. People are obsessed with this topic. I'm only. I'm playing around. I haven't really done the dive. People are crazy.
Anthony
I don't want to be like Alan, you got a minute and a half? Richard, go.
Caller or Guest
You guys mentioned Philly in 83 to sixes. Billy Cunningham was the coach. He won a championship with Philadelphia and then won a championship as a coach and a hall of famer. Him and Bill Russell are the only two guys that did that. Don, the system at a downs lead singer. Serj Tankian.
Anthony
Yes, I read his book. Very good.
Caller or Guest
Tim Kirchin. Steve Sarkeesian. My Last name is McCallion. Harry from Inglewood. Cleaves Harry. Chuck Nock. John was from my church up in Washington. Sure. Alexis Ohanian. Of course. Fellas, Boston Red Sox. If they win tonight, 15 game winning streak. They were 15 games under, I would bet. I don't know for sure. The first team in sports history 15 games under to then go on to a 15 game winning streak. You mentioned three old goats yesterday. Tom Brady, Lionel Messi and LeBron James. Am I correct? Yes. The one goat you guys haven't mentioned. Old guy that's connected to both of you guys. And Don, I'm very surprised at you.
Rich Eisen
Alex.
Caller or Guest
You haven't mentioned him. Alex Ovenston. Is he coming back? He's got those two new guys from St. Louis.
Anthony
No, he's definitely.
Caller or Guest
I hope he comes back.
Anthony
He had announced it is coming back and he'll play with Kyru and he'll play with Tuck and Washington is gonna be a very, very dangerous team.
Peter
When I was at Lids the other day, I was doing my thing and they said, oh, just you know that we're gonna be having a thing with Ovechkin here at the same time. And I was so excited to get a picture with Ovechkin and he didn't come.

The signature mix of stats, sports banter, and New York attitude defines the hour.

This episode captures the excitement surrounding soccer’s U.S. moment, classic sports hypotheticals (where next for LeBron?), and the shared language of viewership stats, iconic TV moments, and the legends who transcend their sport. But as ever, it’s all delivered with New York wit, listener engagement, and good-natured teasing.
Listen for: Real talk about the magnitude of the World Cup’s breakthrough in the U.S., fresh takes on LeBron’s endgame, and a dash of nostalgia and conspiracy with that classic Don, Hahn & Rosenberg energy.
