Thanks for listening. Hi there, I'm Dave Butler.
B
I'm Grace Freeman. Welcome to Don't Miss this, our weekly scripture study class.
A
You guys, today is good stuff. We're getting to the end. We really are. If you didn't know we're in November, obviously, you know, but we have the rest.
B
The calendar makes it pretty obvious, pretty clear.
A
Getting there some awesome sections leading up to the very end. Really. There's some really, really good ones. We have the Trek west coming. We have next week, which is. It's the martyrdom, which I was gonna say, I just said some really awesome stuff coming, which is terrible. Oh, the section is actually really good and like what it talks about is, is really awesome. Then the articles of faith are coming and we do the living Christ. And anyway, so a lot of we're wrapping up the year super strong while at the same time looking forward to the Old Testament, which is coming in January, which it might be my favorite year as a complete. I think I'm so excited. It's so good. I think it just like because it comes once every four years, you get super excited about it coming. And then the stories are so good. The imagery in there is so good. I honestly even studying today's section made me really excited for it because today's section 133 includes a lot of allusions to both Old Testament and New Testament scripture. It sort of speaks like an ancient scripture language. Section 133 does. There's just like hints of these stories and verses all throughout Old and New Testament scripture in 133 that are really cool. So getting excited for Old Testament but still finishing the Doctrine and Covenants, super strong. This is like a teaser. That's a teaser to the Old Testament. True.
B
A trailer. It's your trailer.
A
Yeah, it really is for things that are coming. And remember, if you haven't seen some of the past few videos, we have all of our stuff ready. All of our resources, study resources to just help create scripture centered Jesus centered homes and lives with understanding and application of the scriptures. So we have all of those things ready@goodnewsbrandco.com also if you want to get in person, you can go to Deseret Book for that. But there is a combo price and package on Good News Brand company so get excited about that and get excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas Also coming up. So actually I want to say something about all of the illusions that are in 133. I actually started going through and making lists in here and there's references to Isaiah.
B
This is how you know you're serious because you're not even doing phone scriptures.
A
You're doing like, oh, I brought both of them.
B
You're doing serious. You're doing like.
A
I don't know why I grabbed these and brought them, but I.
B
You were just kind of feeling that.
A
It'S nice, like you have it open to. To be able to see. So don't worry, I have both. Everybody. I'm still the same person expanded. But here's. I just started going through and listening all of just like the things that I could discover. We're talking about Old Testament stories and New Testament stories that are in there and started to make a list. And this is what it got me thinking. Like, that's probably a little bit too Bible nerdy for most people. But I think as you read it, if you're familiar with Old Testament and New Testament scripture, even if you're not, we're telling you right now that it almost is like bringing to the party all of these past prophets is what's happening. Because section 133 is kind of feels like the grand finale of what we've been doing since the Garden of Eden.
B
Yes.
A
Like, it just has this like, almost like the Garden of Eden was this paradise place and there's royal language there where he's like, I wanted Adam and Eve to rule and reign over this paradisiacal place. Like that was my goal and intention for them. On page one and then on page two, a problem enters, a curse, a fall. And then page three of the Bible all the way to section 133 of the doctrine Covenants is this rescue story. And it's just like this. God is calling prophets and he's restoring gifts and he's restoring authority all to bring and then above all else sends his son to the earth. It's all this, like, there was this problem on page two that's not going to be fully solved until Jesus comes again. And everything that's been going on since page two of the Old Testament has been contributing to and building up to this great and grand rescue. And that is what 133 is about. It's the grand finale of the whole rescue story and sort of a sense of you are a part of this story that's been going on since the Old Testament. I feel like verse one does that it says, hearken, O ye people of my church, saith the Lord your God, and hear the word of the Lord concerning you. Verse one invites you into that story and says, you are a part of this great grand rescue story that's included Isaiah and it's included Malachi, and it has included Noah and Enoch, Peter and Paul, and the Savior himself. And all of this has been working toward, like, the grand rescue of humanity. And you're in it, and you're a part of it, and you are in the final inning of it, too. We have, like, on the day we're filming this, Game seven of the World Series is happening. And there's something really great about a World Series. It could end in four. And how boring when it does.
B
How boring?
A
Unless you swept the other team and that's your home team, and then you're really excited about that. But to get closing. Yeah, to get to a game seven has so much hype, Ticket sales double. Because there's something that's in us that says, I want to be a part of this huge grand finish. This. The build up to the great victory is. Is. It feels so moving and so epic and so exciting. And 133 is. Is that. And verse one invites you and me into the story, not as spectators, but as participants.
B
And I think there's something really fun to me about. About realizing we believe in a God who's an excellent storyteller. And this is evidence of that, that we have a God that looked at all books of scripture, all humans ever born, ever created, and said, I'm going to tell a story that is gonna last throughout all of time that every single person gets to be a part of. And I love that he knows how the human mind works so well. Because, like, even you think about, like, the best storytellers on earth, like, right now that we're familiar with, and you think of like. Like you go back to, like, like Harry Potter. You can, like, go to the Harry Potter series and it's like, oh, we love to read those so much because there's seven books and you feel like you get to be like, watching the story unfold and it all hints back to things. And you're reading book six and you're thinking about book two, and you're making connections that you're like, oh, I need to tell my friend that I realized this. And it's like, Taylor Swift does that. That it's like, oh, like you're catching, like, Easter eggs and like, you're like, going through and you're like, finding or, like, Avengers, that it's like, oh, that's like. That's a character from a different movie that, like, you have to, like, know the whole thing for it to, like, all connect. And I think that we love that because it makes us feel like we're.
A
A part of it.
B
And then we're like, oh, no. Like, I'm catching onto something that's bigger than just one story. It's bigger than just one person. It's bigger than just me. I'm catching a vision for something that's even more marvelous than, like, one single person could create. And I think that's so thrilling about God's plan that he wants to, like, create this story, that he's like, no. Like, you're going to catch glimpses and you're going to find Easter eggs and hints, and you're going to realize that this is more than just one person's story. And it's so fun because this feels like the moment that he's like, look. Look at what I did. Look at how I wove this all together. Look at your part in this.
A
Yeah. And even to, like, you're like, you were just saying to just. Sometimes I look back and I think, well, Noah's job was clearly, like, so important, and Isaiah's job was clearly so important. But this section puts all of us in the same boat. Right. As God's covenant children. The reason he, like, covenanted with his children, part of that covenant was for them to bless all nations of the earth.
B
Yep.
A
And to think it's almost, like, unbelievable to think that I have a role that's on the same team as these great prophets that I admire.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's just. It's awesome. So if you start looking at it, what you're going to see, you know, the tippins sort of divide this section really well. I feel like, as a great way to study it, all three tippins. Well, the kid one is just so cute. How will I feel when he comes again? Goodbye. That one's just so awesome. But the other two are talking about preparing for something big. And the questions are, how do I do that? And who is coming? And section 133 does a really good job of that. I actually think, you know, flipping those two questions might make more sense to people to say, okay, first of all, what big thing is coming to get me excited? And then say, all right, now that you've won me over to it, how do I actually do that?
B
And I would say specifically, if you're a person that you're not necessarily sure if you're excited for the second coming or terrified. I think that, like, there's, like, this secret part of us that, like, we're, like, a little bit, like, nervous about the second coming or, like, even in seminary. I'm a seminary teacher, and if I were to ask my kids how many of them were scared of the second coming, I think the majority of them would raise their hands. And I've actually done that. And that's true. And I think that this is backwards, but if I was a teacher, I think that's one of the ways I'd teach this lesson and I would actually switch it. So I don't think we're going to do that right now. But, like, you should just watch this video and think like that, that it would be really powerful to say, like, what are your thoughts and feelings about the second Coming? Okay, let's first remember the second coming means someone's on the way. Let's discover who that is. Now that you realize that it's not someone scary, it's not something evil that's coming. Now let's discover why we wanna get excited about it.
A
Yeah. Yeah. In fact, you know what? Maybe we should actually skip ahead to verse 10 to start, just to give that idea where he just says this. Let this be the cry among all people. Verse 10. When you talk about the second coming, let this be the cry is what it's saying. Awake and arise. Wait, get up and get ready and go forth to meet the bridegroom. For behold, and lo, the bridegroom cometh. Go ye out to meet him. The bridegroom, obviously is in reference to Matthew 25 and the Parable of the Ten Virgins. But verse 10 puts the whole context of the second coming in as a wedding. It's like you're preparing for a wedding. You're preparing for a party. You are preparing for a wedding, for a celebration. This bridegroom, whoever he is, we know who he is. You're gonna wanna go out and meet him. You will. If you understand who he is, you'll be so excited about his coming that you won't even wanna sit and wait for him to come. But rather, you're gonna wanna go out and meet him halfway, three quarters of the way because you're so thrilled about who's actually coming. And I love that it puts it in that kind of context where it says, this is a wedding celebration. That is how we should think about Jesus coming again. Think about a wedding, gifts and cake and dancing, and everyone is so Happy. And it feels like everything is right in the world. You know, when you go to a wedding, you just feel like, oh, my gosh, I believe in love again. I. I believe in happiness again. You know? Not that you didn't, but it just.
B
It's a reminder.
A
It's a reminder. Right? And it's abundant and it's. It's just fantastic, you know? And that is what he's saying. And so I would ask the question and have the discussion and say, okay, what's going to be so celebratory about Jesus coming again? What is it about him that would make someone want to go out and meet him and not wait for him to get there?
B
I think that's a really cool, like. That's, like, a really cool thing to notice in that verse is that you aren't waiting for him.
A
You.
B
You are going to get him.
A
Yeah.
B
And I don't think that's normally how we think of the second Coming. And I think that's a really important thing to realize, especially in section 133, that he is saying, I actually don't want you to just sit around and wait for me to knock on the front door. And usually when we talk about the Second Coming, we're waiting for it. That's true. Because we don't get to choose when it is. So, like, there is a level of us waiting for it. But the fact that he says, go out and meet him means that there is actually something we need to do in the waiting. We are on the edge of our seats so much that we can't actually stay inside. We have to hurry and go. We have to get out of there. And that's a theme that you're going to see so strongly in section 133. But I also think it's important to realize, like, that's how he wants us to view it. He doesn't think that we're just going to be sitting here on Earth being like, oh, my goodness, it's terrible here. Hurry, come. That's not the tone of this.
A
Yeah. No one likes waiting. No, no. Like, no one wants to stand in the line of the grocery store on a Saturday night. Nobody wants to go to the DMV ever in the history of their whole existence.
B
Yeah.
A
One of the things I'm excited for about Heaven is there's no dmv. I think that's in one of these sections. I can't remember where it is. But, like, nobody likes waiting for a call, for an answer, for anything like.
B
That, even for a text yeah.
A
And sometimes I'm tired of waiting for the second coming.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm like, let's go. Yes. But we are called to, like, get excited about that. And as. As. Hopefully this isn't moving backwards a little bit in this conversation. But I was just thinking about, you know, when Jack came home from his mission, we didn't sit at our house and wait for him to, like, catch an Uber and get. You know, like, we went to the airport. You know, the man.
B
He's on, like, the track.
A
I might do it for Christian. I might do it for Christian. Just for the bit. Just for the fun, just for the game of it, for the content. But I. Well, and also, we, like, were, like, the worker at the airport had to, like, barricade us back because we were, like, chomping at the bit for him to get there. Like, I wanted to be at the gate of the plane, you know, like, with the pilot for him. And. And I just think that is. He's speaking in a way that we. As if we're feeling that about Jesus. And. And I think we can discover. And we can talk about why it is that we would be so excited to go to the airport to get him, because we're so excited for you to be here and for you to be home. I can give my reasons for Jack, and I can give my reasons for Jesus and I. And that'd be such a great conversation. Why are you so excited for him to come?
B
Well, and I think there's something really also important, and I think this is, like, sorry, this is skipping ahead. This is another thing that we'll dive deeper into. But I think there's also. When you were just talking about that, I was like, oh, we're, like, joking about Christian. Then I was like, yeah, but really, imagine if Christian walked out of the airport and no one was there.
A
Be so sad.
B
He'd be so sad. Like, it really would be so sad for him. And, like, in my head, I just thought, like, oh, why does the Lord care so much about gathering? And then I'm like, oh, it's because that is the only thing that ruins a wedding is if someone doesn't show up.
A
Right?
B
Like, that actually is, like, the saddest thing that could happen at a wedding. And it, like, makes me realize, like, oh, this is so much deeper about relationship than anything else, that it's like, no, in a good relationship, you show up for each other and you get excited and you're not dreading to show up to that event. You are on the edge of Your seat.
A
And how heartbreaking if somebody dreaded Jesus is coming, I think he would say, I don't think you understand who I am.
B
This relationship might not be what I.
A
Want it to be.
B
What?
A
It.
B
What? Yeah, yeah.
A
Because I think about, like, Adam and Eve who run and they hide from God when he comes into the garden after they've made their mistake or however you want to catch that. We'll get into that next year. Everybody. But they run and they hide from him. And I think about how heartbreaking that must be for God to think I would be so, so heartbroken if when I came home from work and the kids heard the sound of the garage opening, if they ran and hid in their rooms, I would think, what? What? Like that. What do you not understand?
B
And that happens because of something they believe about you.
A
That is what could be true about me. But it's wrong.
B
Sorry, right?
A
No, no, no, no, no. It could be true about a person, but it would be wrong about God. Right. So if you go back where he just says so, prepare ye. Prepare ye. O my people, there's kind of two kinds of preparation. One of them gets a little bit more attention, time and attention than the.
B
Other, which makes sense. Oh, I say it. Sorry, I'm skipping hard.
A
Go, go, go.
B
Which makes sense. And I think it's because usually what we think of is, I need to be prepared. I need to repent. I need to make sure I'm doing good. I need to make sure that I'm okay. And I think that gets so much attention and that gets so much mind time. Because I think we get so nervous and so insecure and so in our head that we won't be. And I think that.
A
And what are we actually afraid of? I mean, I think it's what Adam and Eve were afraid of.
B
Yeah, right.
A
They're just like, oh, if I can't look at God in the face after, you know, what I've done. And to have this understanding about the conversation behind the tree that Adam and Eve have about. I. I like, I can't believe I did that. I can't believe I'm. I've become who I am. I can't. You know, all of these things. That also is a misunderstanding of his character, you know, because he's so, you know, he wants us to repent. He wants us to. And he says it right here. But hold. But before. Well, let's just go right before.
B
Why are we being so all over the place?
A
We don't know right where he says, prepare ye. Prepare Ye, O my people, sanctify yourselves right? And gather ye together. O my people of the church, go out from Babylon and be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. That is a call to come out of that place that you are. Babylon seems to be this, you know, remember that the children of Israel were taken away from Jerusalem and they were taken into Babylon, and they were there as captives and they were there as slaves. So what he's calling here is, come out of slavery, come out of captivity. You don't have to stay in the captivity of sin and fear and discouragement and despair. Those are binding, and you don't have to stay there. Come out of that place. There has been a rescue, there has been a salvation, right? So sanctify yourselves. Get rid of those things in your life that are degrading your soul and breaking down your relationships. Like that is what sin does. And he says, get rid of all of those things because I want you to live more free, number one, right? But second, I need you to like, unanchor, all of that stuff so that you can be a part of the bigger preparation. So prepare ye. Prepare ye has two parts. One, prepare yourself. Leave Babylon. Leave selfishness, leave idolatry, leave. Leave pride behind. Right? They're. They're loud and they're all consuming mentally and emotionally and spiritually. So get out of that so that you can be a part of the preparation for the wedding. Because Jesus wants everyone there and he wants everyone to be excited and he wants everyone else to be free from all of those things. So first, get it out of you so that you can help me get it out of everybody else. And I think that we have both of those preparations that you find in section 133, which is cool, because verse.
B
Four says, that's what's going to happen, right? He says, I actually am going to tell you how to prepare yourselves. It's going to look like sanctification, and it's going to look like gathering. And then it does feel like the next. Like 20 verses are going to pile on to those two things. What it actually looks like.
A
Yeah, There's a couple times in the beginning where it just says, get out of Babylon, verse 5, verse 7, and verse 14. But then in the midst of that, there's verse 9 that says, okay, now go out and cry to all the people, Go ye forth from this land, so that the borders of my people may be enlarged, that the stakes may be strengthened, that Zion, this one heart, one mindness, no poor among them, this heaven may go Forth unto the regions roundabout, go take heaven to everyone else. So they're almost happening simultaneously, which I.
B
Never have noticed before, but that's really powerful to realize, is that he is not going through in this section and saying, first, I'm going to need you to be perfectly sanctified, and then second, I'm going to need you to gather. After you've already made yourself perfect, then you're going to go gather everyone else. This is mortality, which means sanctification is not a one day process, that's a lifetime. You are going to learn the power and process of sanctification every single day. That's daily repentance. Gathering does not need to start once you've been perfected. We'll miss it. We will miss the gathering if we're waiting to do that. Once we're perfect, that's resurrection. We are in the middle of sanctification right now. That doesn't eliminate you from being a good gatherer.
A
And I think just being a part of the grander preparation, preparing people and gathering people together will always be motivation to keep sanctifying yourself, to keep repenting.
B
To keep standing there.
A
So true. Like, why do I want to repent? Like, oh, so God's not mad at me? Well, I guess. But I want to be as clean and unanchored as possible, to be a part of this greater, grander work.
B
Because once you experience the miracles of gathering, once you felt that in your soul, you want to live every day of your life like that.
A
Yeah.
B
And then the next day it's so easy to say, what do I need to do? Not easy all the time, but like it gives you motivation to say, what do I need to do to consistently live in a place where God can work miracles through me.
A
Yeah.
B
How can I continue to live that gathering? And once, like you feel that it's a spiritual momentum that President Nelson always talked about like that, like once you get going, you just want to keep going.
A
Right, Right. I feel like, yeah, I've experienced that recently. I mean, all throughout my life where I just like there's almost like a moment or like you're needed for something.
B
Yeah.
A
And then you think to yourself, I need to be ready for that. I want to be ready for that.
B
I don't want to miss that chance.
A
Right. I want to be the kind of person that encourages and gathers and strengthens and not the person who is, who feels so weighed down. So I just love that they're both happening together. And he says, go ye out from Babylon. Because if you're There you can't be out doing the great preparation work that I have for you. Verse 17. I've sent forth the angel crying through the midst of heaven. There was one angel that started it, but a multitude of angels have carried that banner. Right. And continued. They've taken the. What's that thing called? The baton, Right?
B
Yep.
A
And just said, prepare ye. This is verse 17, everyone. Well, starting in 16, he calleth upon all men and commandeth, you know, to send out, prepare ye. The way of the Lord. Make his path straight for the hour of his coming is night. Get as many people to the airport, as many people to the wedding as possible. And one thing that we both love about this section is it includes a lot of things that will be your message. This is your message to the world. This kind of teaching, this of kind, will help people become hopeful and happy and anticipate Jesus coming. And there's a couple things that we want to point out in here, and maybe there are even more that we're missing. Okay, Should I start with that?
B
Yes, sir.
A
Starting in verse 22. This is part of your message. This is what you want to tell the people about Jesus. And his voice will be as the voice of many waters. Right. And as the voice of a great thunder which shall break down the mountains and the valley shall not be found. This is an Isaiah reference that's being brought up here about the valleys being made brought up and the mountains being brought down. I think there's a lot of ways to read into that. One of them is that God's going to kind of want to take away all of our mount, our mountains, our egos, our, like, our pride, right? Yeah. For a valley to be brought up gives the idea in the sense of. And I want to take away despair and I want to take away hopelessness. Right. I want to do both of those kind of things. But also this idea of one, I see all people as equal. Right. And maybe more important than that is this imagery of valleys and mountains slow him down. So he's like, let me get rid of anything that's in the way so that I can come in really quickly. And it says, he shall command the great deep, and it will be driven back into the north countries, and the island shall become one land. Verse 23 is talking about Jesus is going to make everything right again. So remember in the story of Genesis, like, once the curse starts happening, like, everything starts going wrong. All the, like, continents split. And whether that's figurative or. Or actual, I don't know. But this idea of Them becoming one is this idea of Jesus is going to make everything good and again, he's going to fix every fault and every problem that's happened because of the fall of Adam and Eve. Like, that is a message. We want to tell people that Jesus is currently healing the nations and when he comes, we'll do it an even greater measure. Like he's going to fix all relationships, all problems, all heartbreaks, all loss. That is what 23 and 24 are talking about.
B
That's a moment that you'd want to stop and pause. And if you have a tip in that is such a cool conversation to pause and say, who is on the way? And does that seem like someone scary? And does that seem like someone you should be afraid of? Or does that seem like someone that is making you so excited to run out and meet him and do anything you can to prepare? That's the conversation.
A
And take people with you too.
B
Yes.
A
Like I have people who are in need of healing and in need of restoration and redemption right now. And I. And I want to take them with me and say, listen, I know who can fix this. So come with me. Be a part of this now and in the future. Yeah, right.
B
And that's not the only place in the section that you're going to see that it happens again all throughout. But 45 is one of the. The most beautiful verses ever. And it says, for since the beginning of the world have not men heard nor perceived by the ear, neither have any eye seen. Oh God, besides you, how great things you have prepared for him that waits for you. And that to me is like, I love. Well, it's because I love words probably. But how beautiful is it that they're like. It's just saying there's. I can't describe it. You've never seen anything like it. You've never heard a story that can describe the amount of goodness that God has prepared for you. For you individually, it is going to be more marvelous, more miraculous, more extravagant than anything you have ever even dreamt of. That is who's on the way. That's who's coming back. Verse 45 does not give you a reason to be worried that he's on his way.
A
Yeah.
B
In fact, it's making me want to make a paper chain to say, oh my goodness, why would I not worry, want that? Why would I not want to wait for him? Why would I not want to run out and meet him when he comes again? Because he has that great and good of things prepared for me.
A
So cool. I want to add, go back a little bit and add this on just because I love the imagery of this starting verse 26. They who are in the north countries shall come in remembrance before the Lord. The north countries is an Old Testament reference to them being scattered because the 10 tribes were taken up to the north. So the north is considered like the. The faraway place, like gone and lost, you know, forever and ever. And he is talking about remembering the north countries and finding a way in verse 26 for them to come back. It will require smiting the rocks and ice flowing down in their presence and a highway cast up in the midst of the great deep. This feels like reference to the Red Sea opening up. And this idea of there are some people who feel like they are so lost and so forgotten and so far gone that they will never be able to make it back and be found. And he's saying, I will move literally heaven and earth to come find you and to come rescue you. It will be a great miracle like the opening of the. Of the Red Sea. No one is lost. Nobody is gone forever. He says. 29. In the barren deserts there shall come forth pools of living water and the parched ground shall no longer be a thirsty land. He says, even if your life and your marriage and your family situation and your hope look like a barren desert, one day water will flow freely there. It will look like Eden again. I can do that. I am doing that. I will be doing that is what. What he's saying there, right? And. And look what happens when it does. Look forward to this.32. And they'll fall down and be crowned with glory by the hands of his servants. And they will be filled, verse 33 with songs of everlasting joy. 34. Build. This is the blessing of the everlasting God upon all the tribes of Israel. It's like, ah, there is so many much to look forward to to just.
B
Well, and even now you have to do verse 35, because that one's so sweet to me.
A
Yeah.
B
And they also, of the tribe of Judah, after their pain, shall be sanctified in holiness before the Lord to dwell in his presence day and night forever and ever. And that one, I. There's just so many people that I just want to grab them by their little faces and say, like, oh, your pain is bringing sanctification. And that will not restrict you or hold you back from the presence of the Lord. That will be the reason you're next to him. Those pains and those heartbreaks and that hurt is the reason you will be in his presence, because that is sanctifying your heart. That's changing you.
A
So awesome. Okay. Another part of the message that we want to go out into the world to help them gather is starting in verse 46, because it says, when he comes again, people say, who is this that cometh down from God in heaven with dyed garments, yea, from the regions which are not known, clothed in his glorious apparel? And he'll say, it is me. I am he who spake in righteousness, mighty to save. Isn't it interesting, by the way, that, like, even if you don't fully understand who he is, you're still invited to.
B
Come and that that's what he wants you to know about him?
A
Yeah, that I am he who speaks in righteousness, and I'm mighty to save. But then this. And the Lord shall be in red in his apparel and his garments, like him that treadeth the wine vat. This is an Isaiah reference also, right? That this idea of he's going to be his. His clothes are going to be dyed red as if he were in a wine vat. And that was a big stone basin where people would squish the grapes, right? And because they're squishing the grapes.
B
Thank you for the demonstration. That was really helpful.
A
Because he's squishing the grapes like it's going to splatter up and it's going to dye his clothes, right? And he says this, I, his voice shall be heard. I have trodden wine press alone. And he's talking. This is reference to his atoning sacrifice, right? Where he's just like, I was in that alone. And this is so sad. He says, and none were with me. A reference to Gethsemane when he just went off by himself to do the work that only he could do. And it required loneliness. And he was in a place of pain and hurt and doubt. And he was just like, but I did it. It's finished. Like, the stains on him are finished. 51 makes it sound a little bit sad and scary, right? Because it says this. And I have trampled them in my fury. And I did tread upon them in mine anger. And their blood have I sprinkled upon my garments and stained all my raiment. For this was the day of vengeance which was in my heart. We need to remember in verse 51, he is not talking about people. People were not his enemy. Sin was his enemy, and death was his enemy. And those he has trampled, the blood that is on his raiment is his own. If we know that story from the New Testament, then we know that's what he's saying and we can get that imagery even better. He's like, I finished it and it cost a whole lot to do it. But you were worth the rescue. You were worth saving at that great cost. That is a story and a message that we should send to people all over the world. One that will get people excited when they know what he's done to rescue him and they know how they feel, I mean, how he feels about them, that makes them want to go to the airport and be excited for him. Look at 52 with that. And now the year of my redeemed has come, right? The final scene is here, the full measure of redemption. And they shall mention the loving kindness of their Lord and all that he's bestowed upon them according to his goodness and according to his loving kindness forever and ever. There's a prophecy that says one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess. And I think that will happen after they realize verse 52, when they finally see and recognize all the loving kindness of their Lord and all that he's bestowed upon them according to his goodness and according to his loving kindness forever and ever. That is the message that he wants to send forth his servants with. And P.S. that's the word. The word is loving kindness. I like to use these posters on a Sunday and kind of teach like the scripture and the quote and the. And the word with it so that everybody knows kind of what to think as they pass by in the house. But to have a discussion about verse 52 and his loving kindness, like where and in what ways has he shown his loving kindness to you and those that you care about. And just to be thinking about that this God of loving kindness is the One who's coming back. And then seeing this as you pass by every single day will be of this week will be a reminder and sort of get you excited for him to. To come again.
B
And now you have to also just do 53, because that one's so exciting and it is so sweet to me and especially if you're filling out those tip ins of who is coming. This verse, I had never even noticed it, it might be famous, I don't know, but I love it. In all their afflictions he was afflicted. When they hurt, he hurt. When I hurt, he hurts. And the angel of his presence saved them. And in his love and in his pity, he redeemed them and bore them and carried them all the days of old. And that to me, when I think about who is on the way. And I get to say, oh, the one who is on the way is the one who has been with me through every single mortal experience I have ever experienced. Why would I not want him to be here? Why would I not want to prepare the world for Him? Why would I not want to gather as many people as I possibly can that get to know him here and get to wait for him to come?
A
Yeah. And this. Let's add on this one last part of the message, at least that we will mention. Verse 66. He says, in that day when I came unto my own, no man among you received me and you were driven out. When I called again, there was none of you to answer. Yet my arm was not shortened at all that I could not redeem, neither my power to deliver. He's talking about the part of his. His character where there are times when people reject him and there are times when people push against him. And he says, yet my arm was not shortened at all that I could not redeem. This is a story that we see on all throughout Scripture of a God who does not stop, he does not give up. He keeps on trying, and he keeps on doing whatever it is he can do to rescue. And even our stubbornness, he says, won't get in the way. And our pride and our sins won't get in the way. He's like, I can and have defeated all of those. And I just think it's worth reminding people I'm not giving up on anybody. And in fact, if you go back to verse 54, he starts talking about Enoch also, and Noah and Moses and Elijah and John and Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and the disciples will all be in the presence of the Lamb. I'm not finishing until everybody is there. It's not a good enough wedding if anyone is missing. And verse 56, in case you're like, but I'm not those awesome people. And the graves of the saints shall be open, opened, right? Even those who think, my chance has been up, I ruined it, and I'm dead. He says, those graves will be opened, and they shall come forth and stand on the right hand of the Lamb when he stands on Mount Zion and upon the holy city in the New Jerusalem. And they all shall sing the song of the Lamb day and night, forever and ever. He says, that is my end goal for everyone, to be there, to sing the song of redemption. And it'll be so good, you won't get tired of it. You will keep going day and night and forever. I can't even think of celebrations. I mean, some of the best ones obviously last longer than a day. And for a celebration to last day and night forever and ever is a really good one. So true, right?
B
So true.
A
Something really good has to happen for you to celebrate all day and all night and then for it not to end. Like when the Astros won the World Series. I lived off that victory for years, right? But this one is so good. The victory is so good, you won't be able to stop singing the song, because he not only will have redeemed you, he will redeem everyone that you love and care about. He says, for this cause, for this reason, for this celebration, I've sent out the everlasting Gospel. This is verse 57, into all the world. That's why I restored the gospel. That's why I sent Isaiah and Malachi and the disciples. That's why I sent my Son to the world. And he says, and that's why I've called you to be a part of this, too. Because this is what I want. For everyone to be partakers of this glory, for everyone to be invited to the airport, for everyone to be invited to the wedding, to be a part of the great redemption and the end of the rescue story. It's like, that's what I'm trying to do. So good. And we're part of it. We get to be a part of it, every one of us. So until then, or until next week, we'll see you next week. They emphasize the ideas of gathering, preparation, and understanding who Christ is in a deeply personal and communal sense.

"Section 133 is kind of feels like the grand finale of what we've been doing since the Garden of Eden... This God is calling prophets and he's restoring gifts and he's restoring authority all to bring and then above all else sends his son to the earth... You are a part of this story." — Dave [03:12]
Quote:
"We believe in a God who's an excellent storyteller... creating a story that every single person gets to be a part of." — Grace [06:26]
Notable Segment:
Quote:
"If you understand who he is, you'll be so excited about his coming that you won't even want to sit and wait for him to come. But rather, you're gonna wanna go out and meet him halfway." — Dave [10:21]
