Members Reviews: Good content but hard to digest Like the individual who wrote a 1-star review, I'm a huge fan of the Sandler system and of the original book "You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar." My struggle with this book is much like my struggle with most of the more recent Sandler books. Specifically, I think all the content is in the book. However, reading it is like trying to decipher a Venn diagram with lots and lots of overlapping circles. There is the 5 stage feedback loop, the 7 step coaching methodology, and so on. I could "see" the author turning bulleted training slides into text. The core issue is that it is not clear how all of these pieces fit together; I assume they should interlock and not merely represent discrete techniques. In addition, there is a fair amount of repetition (the fact that the author says the repetition is intentional does not make it right.). Finally, I did not find that the pseudo-case studies added much --- just filler to bulk up the book. In the end, I feel like I need to spend a couple hours rearranging my Kindle highlights to eliminate duplication and to properly sequence. Must Read For Any Sales Coach This is an absolute must-read for any sales manager, coach or even salesperson. The processes and rules outlined in the book give an in depth look at the real difference between training and coaching, which really are two different things. I think this book is an especially great resource for those sales managers looking to really empower their teams to success. It all aligns with the Sandler Selling System and shows the reader just how the two work together. I thought Bartlett's stories were particularly helpful to see how these ideas play out in real-world scenarios. A must read book for people who truly want to grow both professionally and personally. This is one of the best and most practical books on coaching I have ever read. If you are sales coach this is a must read book. If you ever want to become a sales coach this book will save hours if not years of pain. And for everyone else who wants to know what their coach should be doing with and for them, read this book and you might even be able to help your coach understand what he or she could be doing to help you grow your business.
