Jay welcome to the program.
Caller (0:44)
Hi Doctor, how are you?
Dr. Laura Host (0:46)
Good.
Caller (0:47)
I listened earlier to your response to the victimhood, so I kind of have a version of it myself. My on again and I think I've gotten close to telling her that we are no longer together, but I keep unfolding every three to six months when she keeps back up and you know.
Dr. Laura Host (1:15)
And why do you do that to yourself? Why do you do that to yourself?
Caller (1:22)
That's a good question, I think.
Dr. Laura Host (1:24)
Well, why don't you sit quietly for a moment and think we don't need to talk about her. If this is in any way destructive and useless and just a cycle of the same sick stuff, then you have to really stop introspect and determine why you volunteer each time.
Caller (1:47)
That's a good point. And after going through introspective thoughts, I guess I would like to end and kind of like not respond to it.
Dr. Laura Host (2:01)
But for some reason, sir, you're not answering my question. Everybody says I would like to be better, I would like to do better, I would like to eat better, I would like to exercise better. Those statements are useless. The more important one is you volunteer each time she bounces back. What do you gain from that? How is that good for you? What makes you continue helping the cycle go on? This is about you, not her.
