Daniel (Danny Southside) Simmons Danny Southside was born in south Jamaica Queens on August 31, 1987 at 7:45 PM in Jamaica Hospital. When Danny was born an angel grace his presence in many ways. His mother knew that God sent her a gift and with him came many lessons to be learned. Growing up Danny always wanted to play basketball but lost his drive for ball around the age of 11. That's when he started to pick up on music but he didn't really understand rap. As a result of that he sang in a church choir for a few years. While in the choir Danny decided that he was gonna learn rap to its fullest and with that he wanted to pursue a rap career. A producer by the of Tone Beatz had interest in Danny Southside, he knew that with guidance and a lot of hard work that he would become one of the next hot rap artist coming out of South Jamaica Queens. At the age of 15 reality struck, he had his first baby boy. Around that time is when things had to change. Danny had a little mouth to feed, so he had to provide by any means. Also by being the oldest sibling of his little brother and sister he had to make sure they were straight too because his father wasn't around to help. It was time for this little boy had to became a man. A few months later Danny was introduced to the Infamous Severe Productionz through Tone Beatz. Shortly after that Danny began to work on major projects with Severe and his artist Omega Da God, Alpha, and basik who are know as "Da Faculty". As time passed Tone decided to move to North Carolina so severe took over as Danny’s full-time producer. In 2007 Danny released his first mixtape "Next up Vol.1" which was distributed throughout Queens and some of Brooklyn. His mixtape is also available for free download over the internet. 2-3 months later Severe decided to submit a track he produced which featured Danny Southside & Omega Da God called "loyal" to Dj Green Latern's Monster Mash Contest for underground unsigned artist. While patiently waiting for news from that contest Danny entered a contest sponsored by Vibe Magazine called "Vibe Verses Rap Battle". Over 200,000 entered the contest and only 25 rappers were picked to continue on. Danny made it to the top 15 and was then cut. Still holding his Danny received good that the track "Loyal" made the cut to Dj Green Lantern's Monster Mash. Danny Southside & Omega Da God are featured on other mixtapes such as Dj 1 Mic’s “ Crossing State Lines Vol.2 ” and Dj Don Corzone’s “The Shootout” which are available for purchase over the internet. Danny Southside has work with various producers such as Mr. Noise, Sean design, and Mortal Productions. Danny also did collaborations with numerous underground artists.
