Justin
Yay.
Martin
We've got my wife in here with us. Brittany, to we.
Justin
You brought it up.
Martin
I brought up a weird fact about weird jobs and tips whenever we were talking about that. So then that led some of our producers.
Justin
I guessed.
Martin
You did guess. I mean, it was pretty easy.
Justin
Dear S, do you know where Britney worked in college? It was in college.
Brittany
Yes.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
You know where Britney worked in college?
Unknown
No, I don't.
Justin
Are you excited to find out?
Unknown
Yeah.
Martin
The list is long.
Brittany
Actually, I was just about to say.
Martin
But the first stop.
Brittany
This was my first stop. And I do want to preface this by saying I didn't really have a choice. I had applied to every restaurant in the area.
Justin
But one in particular saw you and said, you're a fit.
Brittany
But one in particular was a first and I was in. No, I.
Justin
To be fair, that's kind of like, speaks volumes.
Martin
Yeah. You had to have a job.
Brittany
I had to have a job. It was actually very crucial. I didn't have help. No one was helping me at the time, so. And I had just got an apartment with my best friend and her mom, who I've known since I was very little, was the co signer. So I was like, I'm not going to let her down. I've got to. I've got to get an income.
Martin
So you decided you needed to be delightfully tacky, yet unrefined. Isn't that the catchphrase? And that was put on the back of those.
Justin
I've only been one.
Brittany
Fortunately.
Unknown
Now I can't wait. Tactful.
Martin
Delightfully tacky.
Justin
Have you ever been to a Hooters establishment here in the United States of America?
Unknown
No. To be honest, no, I haven't. And I'm shocked that I'm saying that.
Brittany
Well, good for you.
Martin
Why are you shocked? You're saying that I love women. Oh.
Unknown
Okay. I've always drove by.
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
Okay.
Martin
Just never pulled in.
Unknown
Never pulled in.
Justin
My grandmother went to Hooters once.
Martin
For real?
Justin
Yeah. It was an accident.
Martin
The same one that got caught in a high speed chase?
Justin
Yes. My very Church of Christ grandmother and three other old ladies were on a church trip and they were like, that looks like a nice restaurant. Serves wings.
Martin
They had no idea.
Brittany
Serves wings. And much, much more.
Justin
They have not been back. They have not been back.
Martin
Did they eat?
Brittany
I was about to say, did they stay?
Justin
I don't know the full story.
Martin
Yeah, but we might have to have your grandmama in here one day, man. No, we need to have her own Thelma and Louise. I mean, they got Spike stripped in West Monroe. Not many people have ever done that.
Brittany
Hooters, that's so impressive.
Martin
Yeah, yeah.
Justin
She's 92, so she's probably got some.
Brittany
Stories even more impressive.
Unknown
You don't think of stuff like, you know, like, she needed. You needed a job.
Brittany
I needed a job. I was. I had no business.
Unknown
When I'm watching western movies, you know, they always talk about how bad about, okay, well, she works in a saloon. Hey, folks, you gotta live, okay?
Martin
Gotta have a job.
Brittany
So I even told them I could because like I said, I had applied to every restaurant in the area. And I even told them when they called me that I couldn't start for another week. So just in case, just in hope.
Justin
Just in case Chili's called, you're like, call me.
Brittany
And they didn't. And like I said, I was in no position to turn away an income. I'm not proud of it, but I had to do what I had to do.
Martin
Well, and the reason this all got brought up because apparently our friends over at Hooters are in the news because they're trying to rebrand their restaurant to a family friendly atmosphere. Yeah, but I read the article. According to them, like, there's. The original owners are back involved, who sold it, and they still own like 22 of them. And theirs are a much different standard. They didn't have a standards policy in place.
Brittany
They had no policies in place.
Martin
There you go. See, there's somebody who worked there.
Justin
I'm pretty sure there's like a Netflix special on how unhealthy of work environment.
Brittany
It was pretty much one of the most toxic jobs I've ever had. How long did you Work there four months. Four months. And then a friend of mine that I had met in college, she actually got me a job at Valvoline changing oil.
Martin
So there you go.
Brittany
If you need your oil changed or your tires rotated, I can also help you with that.
Justin
You just. See, I have so many more questions.
Unknown
See, that's what this. This is. This is great. I really.
Brittany
I did what I had to do.
Unknown
Well, no, no, that's. Most people, you know, they don't think about. Well, why would grief, you know. Shut up, you idiot. You ain't never been in a band where you need a job.
Martin
Yeah, well, most of them don't look down on me. Most would rather sit home and collect a check rather than go work something I feel is beneath them because I.
Unknown
Fought at my whole life. Yeah, that ain't. That is not for you. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with you. Get off your yo butt. Go to work.
Justin
Valine.
Brittany
Valine, baby.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
I don't know if you were the hottest at Hooters, but you were definitely the hottest girl to ever work. Congratulations.
Brittany
I had a lot of guys looking at. But I also had some haters at Valing too, because I'd get these guys come in and their big jacked up trucks and they.
Justin
She don't know what she's doing.
Brittany
They'd see me go down and below and they'd be like, is she the one that's about to change my oil? And they throw a little fit and they would. My boss would always back me up like she's certified, but in my head I'm like, you wouldn't be here if you could do it yourself. I'm gonna go change your oil in 15 minutes.
Unknown
Yeah, go ahead with your bad self.
Martin
Yeah, go ahead, you little man complex self. You driving that jacket truck up in here.
Justin
How long did you work at Valvoline?
Brittany
Oh, that was a Quite probably almost a year.
Martin
She still got scar on her arm.
Unknown
I do.
Brittany
I actually have a scar on the inside of my arm because the burn sleeves are made for men and my wrists are tiny and dainty.
Justin
It's kind of like the outfit at your previous job was made for women.
Martin
Yeah.
Brittany
Yes.
Martin
Yeah. A man wouldn't fit in that very well. Those are a couple guys. Those orange shorts would be a little unforgiving, if you will. Yeah. Potentially they change from an owl to a, you know, camel.
Justin
I don't know. No, no, no.
Martin
Or a moose.
Brittany
The burn sleeves were not made for women. And I. The exhaust pipe was wrapped around the oil filter and I had Reached up to unscrew the oil filter and I.
Justin
Don'T even know what you're talking about.
Martin
It was hot.
Brittany
My burn sleeve slipped down and it sizzled the inside. Yeah. And then hot oil proceeded to trip.
Martin
There you go.
Brittany
It was very traumatic.
Martin
Ah, yeah. See, but that's what you got to have, man. You got to find your woman with a work ethic, man. She work at Hooters. She work at Valvoline.
Brittany
I went back into the restaurant business after Val.
Justin
I want to know how many people have gone from Hooters to Valvoline just in America.
Brittany
I was desperate to get out of Hooters.
Unknown
Well, that.
Justin
That. That checks out according to Netflix.
Martin
Did you rock that blue jumpsuit?
Brittany
Yeah, it was all wool.
Justin
Did it say Brittany on it?
Brittany
It did, yeah.
Martin
Hey, I still have it.
Unknown
No, I would just fix that. I know somebody that'll give you big money for that.
Martin
Yeah, Jacob Mayo. Probably pay you top dollar for that. General vantage, baby.
Justin
Alvileen woman's jumpsuit.
Brittany
A navy blue wool jumpsuit.
Martin
But I'm a firm believer.
Brittany
I kept it in a locker at work. We have black steel toe. Yeah.
Martin
All the things everybody needs to start at a job where your name is on your shirt. Yeah, to some level one.
Justin
My name was on my apron. I burned out a blue collar job.
Martin
Yeah. Like at Tanner Peters. I had a name tag said Justin Martin across it. Like everybody needs to start where your name's on your shirt, where nobody knows who the crap you are.
Brittany
I've had a lot of jobs and.
Martin
Then figure it out.
Justin
Did you have a name Jack at Hooters?
Brittany
Yes, I did.
Justin
How did.
Martin
Was it a stage name or did you go with your real one?
Justin
Did you have to be very careful when putting the pin doesn't seem there wasn't much material. Terrifying.
Brittany
Yeah. And especially cuz we had to pay for our uniforms. So I was not trying to mess my uniform up because it's coming out of my paycheck.
Martin
So did y'all had to pay for like them pantyhose?
Justin
They were.
Brittany
Yes. There's a vending machine in the back of every Hooters.
Martin
It come from a vending machine?
Brittany
Comes from a vending machine. You pay for your socks and your panty hose.
Martin
I see where they got the tacky part.
Justin
Now that's tacky.
Martin
What about they give you them orange shorts?
Brittany
Huh?
Martin
The orange shorts they give you to.
Brittany
Yeah, they gave me the orange shorts. Well, that gave me the orange short. I got my first uniform free. It's the least they could do.
Martin
Yeah. There you go.
Brittany
So that was quite a no. I. There is no evidence, other than the.
Justin
IRS and this podcast.
Brittany
And this podcast up until now, that I worked at Hooters. I worked very hard to bury that. But I am unashamed. I have found Jesus, and I'm honest.
Justin
You got a different name across your chest today.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
Her shirt today says, yeshua, the king is coming.
Martin
There you go. So it was really kind of a weird moment when last year, we went to Cancun for New Year.
Brittany
Yeah, that was.
Martin
And with some friends, a bunch of friends. We were tired of eating out at the fancy Mexican places.
Justin
I would never get tired of that.
Martin
You would. I mean, you really. Yeah. No. You really?
Justin
Mexican. Every day for the rest of my life, buddy.
Brittany
Yeah.
Martin
Just trust me. You would. It was. It was a weird deal. So we were like, national championship was coming on. We said, we're going somewhere American. Got on there, Googled American restaurant near us.
Justin
There's only one Hooters baby.
Martin
Which then allowed her chance to explain to our friends face to face.
Brittany
Because he brought it up again and was like, well, Brittany used to work here.
Martin
It's a great story.
Brittany
And I was like, stop telling people that.
Martin
It's a great story. I'm gonna tell our kids.
Brittany
You are not.
Unknown
Oh, yes, he is.
Martin
Yes, I am.
Unknown
Because if he don't tell him, I'm gonna tell him.
Justin
Well, I'm at least gonna watch Big Daddy with them and be like, y'all wanna know something about your mom?
Martin
Oh, my God.
Unknown
It always reminds me of. Look, hey, I knew mom before she was bomb. I've always loved that. Because people don't think about it.
Justin
Martin.
Martin
What?
Justin
We had ants, and it was a problem.
Martin
Ants in your pants?
Justin
And even worse.
Unknown
Oh, no.
Martin
In your pantry.
Justin
In my kitchen. Yes. All around the sink.
Unknown
Oh.
Justin
And I was like, this stinks. But you know what?
Martin
What?
Justin
Our friends over at Pesky had me locked and loaded. I zipped that thing on, poured it in there and said, I wish I had it. Put my gloves on, walked around. You know what we haven't had ever since?
Martin
Ants. Ants in your pants.
Justin
Or in my pantry. Or in my pants. Or in my kitchen.
Martin
There you go.
Justin
Pesky rules. And it's super easy.
Martin
Yeah. And you can. It's a diy. I mean, they.
Justin
You can do it.
Martin
Yeah. The other guys charge over $800 a year. Pesty gets you going for just $35 a treatment. And it's made for your location. Bugs and climate. Look, it's springtime. It won't quit. Raining your house a lot of times is the high spot. Bugs are going to the high spot. Water everywhere. They're coming to the high spot. That show how. So if you want to evict them, you can get with Pesty. Look, Pesky gets rid of over 100 types of bugs. I'm talking spiders, ants, roaches, scorpions, you.
Justin
Name everything you just said. I just like being in my home.
Martin
And there you go. Look. Pasty is also kid and pet friendly. The pesticides, they, everything you just said.
Justin
I enjoy being in my home.
Martin
The pesticides they ship are fully registered and they've been used all around the country in hospitals and schools. So you know you can trust it. Pesty offers a 100% bug free guarantee or your money back. If the bugs don't go away, they'll give you a full refund. Pesti's kit includes a sprayer, mixing bag, pesticide gloves, and instructions you can complete unless than 10 minutes they don't even mention.
Justin
It's kind of fun.
Martin
Now is the time to protect your home from bugs with Pesti. Go to pesty.com for an extra 10 off your order. That's P-E-S-T-I-E.com for an extra 10% off.
Unknown
I'm looking and it says. Okay, who's it? Expand this family friendly restaurant. Yo, check out the model. The, the uniform. Well, I, I, I, I wish them success with, with trying to come back modestly. Okay.
Martin
With not having to live in that world to be a successful restaurant.
Brittany
And I'm here for that because they have great wings. I love their wings. I wasn't allowed to eat them.
Unknown
Well, no. Okay. It's a business. And hey, yeah, y'all for real, that.
Martin
Grilled cheese and curly flies straight.
Brittany
They have great.
Justin
I've only been to Hooters once and it was away from my parents, so I felt safe. And I had cash so they couldn't see the debit card.
Brittany
Wow.
Justin
And my friend Luke was like, hey, give me some cash, man. I was like, no. My mom see Hooters.
Brittany
We have very different lives.
Justin
I said, eat it, son. Your mom's going to see you at Hooters. You're going to get in trouble. And that was rude of me. I apologize. Luke, if you're listening.
Martin
But no. The reason I'm going to tell the boys is because it probably proves you're not above anything, right? Like, if you need a job because you signed on the dotted line to make a commitment to pay for something, you go get that job.
Brittany
Whatever Help.
Martin
That's what I'm saying. She was one of them at 18 that ran out of mom and dad gone. I'll figure this crap out.
Brittany
Yes. Right now, my dad, I will say I want to give him a little credit because he ended up coming around. I think it was my sophomore year of college, and he. He's a veteran, so he signed over his VA benefits, which gave me a housing allowance at that time. So that was. Which I still worked on top of that. But it was nice to have that little break. But at the time. But at Hooters time, I was on my own. No one was helping me.
Martin
And when you sign on the dotted line, you've got to do it.
Brittany
You've got to do it.
Martin
There's no forgiveness. There's none of that. You signed up for it. You got to do it.
Brittany
My home life was very toxic. I had to get out of where I. To get out of the situation I was in, so.
Martin
And that's something I want the boys to know. Figure it out, man.
Unknown
That's a. A gold girl. You're on your story.
Brittany
Yeah.
Unknown
Okay. That's. I look at it as. Okay, you done that with a badge of honor.
Martin
Because you got to. Yeah, right. We all have the badge.
Unknown
I've got no choice. I've got to, you know, I've got to take care of myself.
Martin
Yeah, right.
Unknown
Nobody's helping me. Okay.
Justin
And it's not like, you know, it's the best part of the story to me. We were talking before, and she was telling us some stuff that was. We're not going to stay on this podcast, but the Netflix documentary is not lying and, you know, pretty toxic place. And then Brittany said, you know what? Screw this. I'm going to go change oil. And as a man who goes to get his oil changed, I. There's not many of you in there. No, no.
Martin
And if they are, they generally have the clipboard and meet you to deal before the oil change. They're not. They're not the ones under the lift.
Justin
You don't have near big enough mustache to work.
Brittany
I go, yeah, I can rotate your tires, too.
Martin
There you go.
Justin
I actually need that done.
Brittany
Yeah, I'll hop on over there.
Unknown
Hey, my hats off to you, darling.
Brittany
Thank you.
Unknown
Really.
Martin
Yeah.
Brittany
Thank you.
Unknown
Because, you know, you had. You had issues. Okay. You know that. And. And you handle it.
Brittany
Yes. Best I could see.
Martin
That's what we're talking about. It's yours to you, Mom.
Unknown
No, no, I'm serious. I'm serious. You know, my hat. I'm even cheer because people don't think about that. Okay. Hey, you have no choice in this.
Brittany
Yeah. And I was not gonna lie.
Unknown
I've got to provide food and lodging and all this for myself. I'm not going to do it.
Martin
Well, you do have a choice. And you can either lay there and.
Unknown
Yeah.
Martin
Wallow in it for me, or you get out there.
Unknown
Or you can get out of it.
Martin
Yeah. You can put your britches on, put your shoes on and go to work.
Justin
Sling wings, sling oil. Sling something.
Martin
Slang. Something you sling. Fertilizer. Fertilizer and quick creek, buddy. When I started at TP Outdoors, my first one, I worked in the warehouse.
Unknown
And I learned y'all that don't know that's 50 pound bags that quick.
Martin
Creed 80.
Unknown
Well, okay.
Martin
We only sold 80.
Justin
I was about to complain about pumpkins and watermelons, but that's not quite as heavy, but that's that. I never forget that first October I worked in a grocery store, and all them pumpkins showed up. I said, what am I supposed to do with those? And Rick Cody looked at me and said, move them. And I was like.
Unknown
Because my mother told me this when I was a teenager. Okay. And it stood the test of time. Don't you ever look down on nobody?
Martin
No.
Brittany
Yeah.
Martin
I actually love that job, too. Like, I got talked to a bunch of people, got to help. The best part was loading the stuff for the old people.
Unknown
Yeah.
Martin
Because I was a kid, right. I was 17, 18. So, like, you got to help out your grandparents every day. I mean, pretty much, you were putting stuff. You were putting bags of quit cretin like a Lincoln Continental. Like, because, you know, they about to go home and grind over burying a post, you know? Know. But still, nothing make you more irrationally angry than that bag of quit creep being busted. And then you end up with concrete all in your shoes.
Justin
And then you're like, that's not irrationally angry. That is certified anger.
Brittany
Can't.
Unknown
You can't get it out.
Martin
Yeah. And that's. I mean, but it taught me a lot about, like, it taught me what I didn't want to do for the rest of my life. Like, I didn't want to load fertilizer for the rest of my life. I didn't want to. I didn't want to thread. I didn't want to thread gas pipe for the rest of my life because we did that too. Like, we cut pipe and threaded it and all that. But it's a cool skill to learn. But, like, this ain't what I Want to do. And my dad, who was a member of the plumber and pipe fitters union, that's all he ever did was that kind of stuff. And I was like, yeah, now this? I don't. I don't think your boy wants to do that. I decided I'm going to figure out a way to work with my brain. Oh, that's real work, you know?
Unknown
Yeah, that's real physical work.
Martin
Yeah, this tough work, too, man, so. But I'm thankful for my time there. And I was in the warehouse for a few years, and then I ended up at the gun counter slinging guns, you know, so thankful. I work my way up, man.
Unknown
Thankful.
Brittany
I mean, Hooters paid my rent for four months. And that necessity. And I'm thankful for babbling, like you said.
Unknown
Who.
Brittany
What? How many women do you know that can do that?
Justin
Not Allison.
Unknown
I look back.
Justin
Oh, you won't.
Unknown
Mama works on B17 bombers.
Brittany
That's awesome.
Unknown
Well, she was a riveter. Rosie the riveter.
Brittany
That's.
Martin
And then look at you. You ended up riveting. Duck call. Read Genetic family history, man.
Unknown
And look, she was the first one that worked on television. Yeah, well, she was the pioneer all the way.
Brittany
Yeah.
Martin
She ever put one through her finger like you do?
Unknown
Oh, gosh.
Justin
Probably.
Unknown
I would not. I would. I would not doubt it.
Justin
Those were some bigger rivets.
Martin
Yeah, that was bigger. Them was a lot more. That was a lot, lot tougher. But, no, you do what you got to do in the moment, man. You figure it out. And you. You. You do what you got to do. And I'm thankful that my kids come from that kind of stock.
Justin
I was a waiter for two weeks.
Martin
Two weeks? Yeah. I couldn't be.
Brittany
10 years.
Justin
It was right behind Hooters is the funny part. I was just past them, but I was like, I don't fit in here, gang. Like, I can't do this.
Martin
Yeah. I couldn't do. I don't think the service industry is not one that would fit my personality, because if you want to get lippy with me, then I'm just. Well, that's why everybody right back.
Justin
If you think you want to work in retail, you got to go work at a grocery store first, because nobody wants to buy their groceries, and they're mad. Well, and then you go somewhere where they want to buy stuff like guns and fishing stuff, and it's way easier. Easier?
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
Yeah. If you mess with the public in any.
Brittany
In any capacity.
Unknown
All right, You've got. You got a tough one.
Brittany
Yeah.
Unknown
Okay.
Martin
Yeah, I didn't mind my retail.
Unknown
You can never please them.
Brittany
I liked serving more than retail.
Justin
Where'd you work at retail?
Brittany
Huh? HomeGoods. I was opening up boxes in the back. That was actually my very first job.
Justin
Home Goods.
Brittany
Home goods, Yep. And then I also worked at Opryland at a place that was kind of like for clubbing, clothes, journeys. No. Gosh, I cannot remember the name.
Justin
Express.
Brittany
Back then it was kind of like an express, but not as nice as an express. It was like a city.
Justin
Was it like delightfully tacky?
Brittany
Yeah. Yeah. But then actually from that job, that was the first time I ever went on unemployment because a big flood happened in Nashville in 2010 and took my Aubry. Land got flooded and I didn't have a job, so.
Justin
Oh, wow.
Brittany
Yeah.
Justin
Hey, Martin.
Martin
Hey.
Justin
There's a sucker born every minute and I don't want our listeners to be one of them because that big wireless company keep talking about free phone this free phone that. They're going to give you a free phone. I'm here to tell you this is scam. It comes with a lot of fine print. They require you to sign up for four lines. Then they got an activation fee, then they got this fee, then they got a fee just for touching.
Unknown
Don't let them scammy folks.
Justin
There's just plus plus, plus plus plus. At the end of the day, Martin, you've paid for that free phone three times over. PureTalk, our sponsor and my wireless company has a much better offer. With a qualifying plan of just $35 a month, you can get a brand new Samsung Galaxy A26 for free. The Samsung Galaxy A26 has virtually indestructible gorilla glass. You might even be able to use this phone. Sigh. It captures beautiful wide angle with a next generation camera lens. All you got to do is switch to Pure Talk. For just $35 a month. You get unlimited talk, text and 15 gigs of data with the mobile hotspot, all on America's most dependable 5G network. I made the switch, kept my number. That was my favorite part. And you can do it in 10 minutes. And they do a ton of stuff for veterans. They're always donating money, helping veteran cousins outside. Even though you can't get behind cell phones, I think you get behind a company that supports our vets. All you got to do is go to PureTalk.com duck to make the switch again. That's PureTalk.com duck to claim your free Samsung Galaxy with qualifying plan when you switch to Pure Talk Wireless By Americans for Americans.
Brittany
That's why I was almost scared to come on and talk about it. But at the same time, I shouldn't be ashamed of it, because I had to do it.
Unknown
I had one person it was worth coming to and telling it.
Brittany
Yeah. And it led me here in this seat right now, like Murphy's bros. You.
Martin
Ended up in the duck call room via Hooters. No.
Justin
You're the only person that can say that Allison ended up here because of Red Lobster.
Brittany
You know, I ended up in the duck call room via Old Chicago.
Martin
Y'all were. Y'all were both slanging biscuits. Unbelievable. Look at there.
Justin
What year was that? What year were you at Hooters?
Brittany
A 2011. No, 2000. It was towards the end of 2010, beginning of 2011.
Justin
Hundred. Allison was at Red Lobster at the same time.
Martin
Cheddar Bay biscuits.
Justin
I hate those things. We ate them every. She'd bring home, like, six of them every night.
Martin
Yeah, I remember, man. Leftovers. That was a big deal back then. Yeah. When I met Brittany, she was at. What is that old Chicago. Chicago pizza joint.
Unknown
By the grace of God. There I go.
Brittany
For real, though.
Martin
And next thing you know, like, Hunter's gonna have a real interesting time one day telling his kids about the time he worked with four crazy rednecks up in this duck call. Go.
Justin
Can I watch it? Well, just not one episode.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
Where I had a giant hickey on my neck.
Brittany
How was North Carolina? I'm just kidding.
Martin
Oh, you are back from your trip. Hunter, how was your trip to visit your. Your. Your woman lady.
Justin
Oh, it was awesome.
Martin
Was it? Yeah. How was your time at Mellow Mushroom, though?
Brittany
Oh, I love Mellow Mushroom.
Justin
I didn't get to go. You're well? Yes.
Martin
Good for you, man.
Justin
Win for the pizza people.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
I don't go to no chain.
Martin
Why? I wanted to try it.
Brittany
Melon mushroom's good.
Justin
It's fun.
Martin
It looked fun.
Brittany
We just.
Martin
We just ran out of time.
Brittany
Yeah.
Justin
Well, you're supposed to start with the pizza, Hunter.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
Giving you any advice? You start with pizza.
Unknown
Always. When you're having fun, you always run out of time.
Martin
Yeah. Yeah. Whatever were you doing to run out of time? No, I'm kidding. It's a family show, man. I'm kidding.
Justin
It's a family show. We're talking about who?
Martin
I was just about to say we're talking about.
Justin
It is a family show because.
Martin
Well.
Justin
And that is.
Martin
We're talking about all things that make a family. The clean, the dirty, the messy. It doesn't matter.
Justin
And there's somebody listening to this that is right now driving to a job that they hate. They hate.
Brittany
There's a way out.
Justin
And they're sitting there going, I'm going to this. I hate it. The boss is a jerk. It's a. It might even be probably in your. You would say that that job was a little demeaning.
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
Yeah.
Justin
Probably more than a little.
Brittany
Let me tell you. We had to stand and I can only speak for my Hooters. I don't know about all the rest of the Hooters, but Netflix will speak for you in the be. Like when we would get there at the beginning of our shift, we all had to stand in a line and our manager would come one by one and make us do a spin to make sure that we were up to par for the shift. As far as looks are concerned, mama.
Martin
You won't stand up and take a spin.
Justin
Stop it, Martin.
Brittany
I wore this big old baggy shirt.
Martin
No, I'm not gonna.
Brittany
I'm not.
Martin
Go ahead.
Brittany
Yeah, so.
Justin
But there's somebody that go to a job they hate.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
And I mean your story is one of, hey, you might have to go change oil instead of do that job. And it's coming that opportunity and then how do you like.
Unknown
But that was an upgrade.
Justin
Yeah, yeah, it was an upgrade.
Brittany
It really was.
Unknown
Okay. No, no.
Martin
Yeah. You went from no clothes to a full wool suit and you said, I'll take Yes.
Brittany
Yes, in a heartbeat.
Martin
Boy, I don't tell you something right there. Like, golly go from wearing nothing to.
Justin
I don't want to be naked.
Brittany
I cover up quick.
Martin
Well, I mean, just think Tennessee is. Is hot in the summertime. You hop up under them things in a wool sweater. You won't talk about hot.
Brittany
And when you're under the bay, you have these giant fans like back underneath the bay that are pointing towards you when you're under a vehicle, but it is blowing nothing but hot air. It's hot air. And then you have the hot from the engine.
Martin
Somebody just pulled in there with a 240 degree vehicle up underneath everything and it's getting sucked down in there.
Brittany
And you're wearing a wool jumpsuit and it.
Martin
And I. Still better than slinging wings.
Brittany
Yes.
Martin
Because that's hard to figure.
Brittany
And I had. Like I said, I can't talk about everything that I experienced there. But it. That was 100 times better at Valvoline than what I was experiencing at Hooters.
Martin
But just like you're talking about like, like our friend Josie Wells. Man, Endeavor to persevere.
Justin
Reserve.
Martin
And I wasn't giving up to persevere. Man, just keep on pushing through. Because you are. You're listening to this. You're driving somewhere, most likely, and you're either loving where you're headed or you're hating where you're headed, or you're indifferent about where you're headed. But where you're headed ain't going to be where you end up.
Unknown
Jeremiah 29, verse 11. God speaks. You have no idea the plans I.
Justin
Have for you, declares the Lord.
Unknown
Not to harm you, but to give you hope and to give you a future.
Brittany
And look at my future and everybody else.
Unknown
See, that's what I'm saying. You're going to have trials and tribulations on this planet.
Martin
Ain't no doubt.
Unknown
It's how you. You can only control one thing, what you do.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
And.
Unknown
Okay. And hey, I don't wish. What happened to this young lady happened to nobody. Okay? I only want the best for all of you.
Martin
But the reality is, it's going to happen.
Unknown
Yeah. Yeah, but it's going to happen.
Brittany
You can make it happen.
Martin
It's going to happen.
Unknown
Yeah. And then, hey, here's what is. Life goes on.
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
Knives hit you. What are you gonna do with it?
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
Yeah, yeah.
Brittany
Oh, life hit me a few times.
Unknown
Oh, no. Yeah.
Justin
And now look at you. You're one of them women at church with a big white SUV and the twins. Yeah.
Brittany
Who knew?
Martin
And we go get. We go get chips and queso and.
Unknown
Hello.
Brittany
And I'm an orthodontist assistant now. Yeah. If you need braces, I can also help you out.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
Change your tires, get you a new beer, and change braces all in one.
Martin
Swiss army knife, if you will.
Brittany
I'm a Renaissance woman. That's what I like to call myself.
Martin
Oh, boy. Well, there's a story about that.
Justin
We got here, we had a Renaissance man used to work.
Martin
The point of the deal is, is don't get stuck in your hooters, whatever that is.
Justin
They should put that on a T shirt.
Martin
Yeah. Don't get stuck in your hooter.
Unknown
Don't.
Justin
That. That'll preach, Martin.
Brittany
I will preach.
Martin
Whatever it is. Don't get stuck there.
Unknown
Don't ever give up your dream.
Martin
Yeah. Keep stepping, keep pushing, keep persevering, okay?
Unknown
Because guess what? The Lord didn't tell you. Hey, I got some planned for you.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
And it might not even be your dream. Like you don't know. I. I don't want to speak for Brittany, but I don't think Brittany's dream in life was to be a mom of twin boys, living in West Monroe, Louisiana, being an orthodontist assistant, coming from Nashville.
Martin
But look at you now.
Justin
But look. But now you would say, come on over here, girl.
Brittany
Yeah.
Justin
Quit getting handsy.
Martin
I'm trying to be like Godwin. And Paula, well, she said she was.
Unknown
Gonna fit this lady. Hey, don't let her go. Get away.
Martin
I guarantee you. Hey. Sometimes in there, I was like, why not?
Unknown
I said, hey, look, don't let this.
Brittany
And now we've been together, what, 12 years.
Martin
Oh, 12.
Brittany
Total. 10.
Martin
Yeah. It'll be 12 in September. 10 married.
Justin
And anniversary's in May. Huh?
Martin
Yeah. The end of. The end of May.
Unknown
See, neither one of y'all knew it, but God knew it.
Martin
Oh, didn't he? And he laughed the whole time.
Unknown
Oh, no, I'm serious. That's why God does about three things a lot. He laughs a lot. He cries a lot. Because, hey, he loves the human race so much.
Martin
Yeah.
Unknown
That he gave his only one son for you.
Martin
Yeah. We just got through celebrating all that, man.
Unknown
Yeah. Yeah. And that was just past. Yeah, it just, you know, that's why, you know.
Brittany
Yeah. Easter hit different for me this year for sure, because it. I just kind of.
Martin
Yeah. Which, by the way, look back at it. On Easter, we. We did the Saturday night thing with y'all.
Justin
Yeah. We went all together Saturday.
Martin
You know what? You know what his son told me?
Unknown
Who?
Martin
Carter.
Unknown
Oh, it is no telling.
Martin
Let me tell you what. Carter. I'm gonna start calling him Carter the literal. That's because that's what he is. He's got everything very literal. There's no figurative. He looked at me at church and he said, oh, hey, Martin, I didn't recognize. You look different. And I was like, oh, well, I'm not wearing camouflage. He said, no, there's nothing on top of your head because you're missing a lot of hair.
Brittany
He realized he was bald.
Justin
Carter's, like, going through his head, going, he's always had hair. No, he's just always had a hat.
Brittany
It's all an illusion.
Martin
I got so tickled, like, because, I mean, the bald jokes, the fat jokes, I've heard them all. Like, they don't bother me. But to see it. But to see it coming from Carter, I got so freaking.
Unknown
He didn't even think about it.
Martin
No, it was just.
Brittany
He just.
Martin
It was from brain to mouth.
Unknown
It was no evil intended.
Brittany
It was just factual.
Unknown
No, just factual.
Martin
And then we went and had the mouths of Babes and then we went to Javi P's and had a dance party. Johnny D's kids taught my kids how to dance. Yeah, we in the middle of the.

Brittany
Time around the table?
Justin
Well, no. So after church on Saturday, we went to Saturday night service together. I was like, hey, we're going to Hobby Peas if y'all want to join. Martin was less than enthused about going with five kids to a Mexican restaurant.
Brittany
I had to convince him.
Justin
And Brittany goes, you never let me do anything fun, Martin. Justin. She calls him Justin.
Brittany
I call him Justin.
Justin
You never let me do anything fun, Justin. And I had to call a time out because just the last week alone.
Martin
I believe two times they were out to about 10:30. The mom's club.
Justin
Some sort of moms. They call it a Bible study.
Brittany
It's a Bible study, but they eat.
Martin
And then they bring home leftovers. And then they sit there and talk till 10:30 at night, but they don't ever get do nothing fun.
Brittany
That was such a fun conversation that.
Martin
I was like, what in the world?
Justin
She said we never do anything. Then we all did go eat Mexican food.
Brittany
Yeah, I meant just because he doesn't like to. Like, he's. I don't think he's comfortable yet taking the boys out places, because it is. It's a lot.
Justin
I saw him. They. They told everybody in the restaurant hello and threw something at each one of them.
Martin
Well, and it's not only that. I just don't want to be the people that may be somebody's one night to go eat out or go do something. And I don't want my kids to be the one that ruined their night out, you know, because, like, if. Yeah, if everybody in the world thought my kids were as cute as they think they are, this wouldn't be a problem. Right. But because in their world, they're so. They're two. And they're still extremely selfish because you can't teach them nothing else. That the whole. The whole world is theirs and nobody else's. So that's what. Why I am. Like, I am. It ain't like I don't. I mean, it ain't like I don't want to hang out with y'all. Like, your kids are hilarious, but, you know, And I can't wait till mine get to that age. But, like, it was just. I don't want to ruin that for somebody if it's their one time or they've been trying to plan this.
Justin
We've ruined plenty of other people's.
Martin
Yeah, I know.
Brittany
That's why I'm like, I get that side. But at the same time, I'm like, we got to get them. It happens.
Martin
But I also knew Sunday was coming, too, so, like. And I know we had a full day plan, so I was like, man, we need to be in bed by seven.
Justin
You never. Let's do anything fun.
Brittany
Never lets us do anything fun.
Martin
Well, we did it.
Brittany
We did.
Martin
We did.
Brittany
And he put on. He didn't eat, but he put on a.
Martin
Well, now there's no chance to eat. There's no chance both of us eat.
Justin
See, you always talk about how fast I eat. Now, you know what it is? It's just, I got kids. I'm about to see how fast I can shove this down my throat.
Martin
Yeah.
Justin
And then I'll be ready.
Martin
And then you get to play defense.
Justin
It's all defense.
Martin
Yeah. Yeah.
Justin
We kind of lucked out, though. That's it. When our kids, the boys, were that stage, the world shut down for reasons you don't want to say on YouTube.
Unknown
Yeah.
Martin
Flag you, flag you.
Justin
And they'll be like, oh, this is cdc. Anyway, so we never went to restaurants. Then we took them at, like, the next year, like, 20, 21. And it was like, nope, I'm never going anywhere again.
Brittany
See, that's what I want to try to avoid. I want to get them used to it so that when we do take them out places, they won't be completely.
Justin
Banshee spaghetti on the walls.
Martin
Yeah. Instead, they were just driving concrete trucks down the.
Brittany
See, that's all. As long as you give them a truck or a monster truck or something, they.
Justin
Your kids are cute. Other people's aren't. That's the truest thing. Everybody thinks their own kids are cute. And I'm just telling you there's somebody out there that thinks your kid's ugly. If you're listening to this, your kids might be ugly.
Unknown
I'm just.
Justin
My kid might be ugly. I don't know.
Martin
Yeah. And then that's what. Everything was fine until Beans got up, started dancing. And then the boys were like, oh, I'm getting off this table. I'm getting off this little seat where I've been confined. And we about to have a dance party.
Justin
Yeah, that was on me.
Martin
Yeah, it ain't on you. Like, they. I thought it was hilarious. And Waylon decided he wanted to, like, do the worm or something and crawl on the floor of the restaurant. I was like, come on, son, get up.
Justin
We were in the dead center. I gotta talk to you. Y'all chose the seats. We're corner people. You gotta Corner them.
Brittany
Well, at the time when we first walked in, there weren't corner seats available.
Martin
Yeah. We went for the biggest, longest avenue for them to drive those trucks.
Brittany
Yeah.
Martin
Yeah. Like, we didn't want to be around.
Brittany
It wasn't about us. It was about how can we keep these kids contained.
Martin
Yeah. How can we. How can we give them the biggest space to drive these concrete trucks while. While she tries to eat. And then Waylon ate a little bit, which is surprising. Jackson. Nothing. And then as soon as we close the door. You want something to eat? No, no. We closed door on the cart. Snacks.
Brittany
Snacks. What snack?
Martin
We were just in a place that had everything that wanted and. No, I just want to drive my truck. And then we close the door on the truck, on her car, and snacks. Snacks. Like, oh, my gosh. All right, dude, Whatever. I don't know. I don't know how the kids gonna survive. Yeah. I don't know how. When do they start eating?
Justin
They don't.
Martin
Yeah. I don't.
Justin
I. I legitimately don't think my middle child, Ben's, consumes more than a roll and maybe a fruit gummy a day.
Brittany
Allison and I talk about that. She really makes me feel better about this situation.
Justin
How are you still alive?
Martin
Well, what's weird is they will go five days where it feels like they don't eat 500 calories, and then on.
Brittany
Day six, they're eating everything.
Martin
They will eat everything that you put in front of them. And then you're like, oh, cool, man.
Brittany
They'll even try new things.
Martin
Yeah, they'll eat this now. And then you give. Give them something the next day, and they're not. I don't like it. That's their favorite.
Brittany
I can't like it.
Martin
That's their favorite. That's their favorite.
Brittany
Like it?
Martin
It's. I don't like it or. I can't like that. I can't like that.
Brittany
Gosh. I hear it in my sleep.
Martin
I'm like, and now the new ones. Help me. Help me. I'm like, oh, my gosh. Waylon will drop his car, be standing there looking at. Help me. I'm like, bend down. Pick it up.
Brittany
I feel like they're getting that from your mom, though. Cuz she's. She. She loves those boys so much, she'll pit. She does everything for them. She picks up all their stuff. She.
Unknown
That's grandmama.
Brittany
Yeah. And they've been staying with her for two days a week while I work, so.
Martin
Which is fine. But I just.
Justin
Right.
Martin
Oh, yeah. Hey, man.
Brittany
Oh, she's absolutely earned.
Martin
Look, I love them kids, but I'm kind of ready to be a grandpa. Like, I get to see the stuff she gets away with. Oh, no. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, hold up. No, I'm just saying that's part of it. Yeah. You just. You put in the work with them and then you get to do.
Unknown
You got married and raised, and now I'm fixing to show you.
Justin
Yeah, yeah.
Unknown
What I would say. Yeah.
Martin
And then you.
Justin
Before you can be a grandpa, you might have to have another one.
Martin
Another what? Another who?
Justin
What?
Unknown
What are you saying?
Brittany
We're not in agreeance on that?
Martin
No, we're in agreeance. You sent me to the urologist. We are. We are in agreement. I am not that, though.
Justin
Welcome.
Unknown
It can't be. Hey, it can be reconnected.
Martin
No, it cannot.
Justin
I'm gonna let these two talk just as John David signing off. Go ahead, Brittany.
Brittany
Listen, if it is in God's will.
Martin
It can be done.
Brittany
I would absolutely carry another baby. I wouldn't prefer to have two babies. I'd like to just experience one.
Unknown
That's where this. But that's where this gets crazy.
Brittany
But when he went and got that done.
Justin
Snip, snap.
Brittany
Snip, snap. When he got there, I was.
Justin
I know a guy.
Brittany
I was in the thick of taking care of twins. I was. I was. I don't even remember the first year. I was surviving in the worst way possible. So I was like, you're not touching me. You will not touch me until that is snipped. And now we're two and a half years in and I can breathe and the darkness is like, subsided. And now I'm like, I could do it again.
Unknown
Mar.
Martin
Not with me.
Unknown
Hey, one more.
Martin
Not your cowboy.
Brittany
I want a girl.
Martin
I don't know.
Justin
You know who the problem is?
Martin
Your wife.
Justin
Lottie. Yeah, well, that's the rudest kid on her, I promise. Let me send her over one of these.
Martin
So y'all started with two boys, right? Then had a little girl, very close together. And our friends, about two and a.
Justin
Half years later, had a little prince princess.
Martin
Our friends, the Holmans.
Brittany
Yeah, same situation, same way.
Martin
And the rooster is the coolest little kid. She's a cool little girl. For now.
Brittany
Yeah.
Martin
Like, you know the. The problem with girls. No offense. I love you, dear. I know we're crazy, but hormones are coming. Yeah, like, at least with boys, you know what's coming? Stink. Yeah, like, they just gonna stink.
Brittany
Like, hormones are a wild ride. It's a dragon that you gotta learn.
Martin
Especially for Females, like, that's a. That's a different deal. And I. I just.
Unknown
They crazy. It's just a different.
Brittany
Yeah, a crazy that we don't necessarily.
Unknown
Have control and couldn't. I can't help it.
Martin
Let me tell you something.
Brittany
That is precious. When we were talking ovaries right now, that's the most precious thing I've ever seen.
Martin
You're not going to find.
Brittany
Look at her little dress.
Martin
You're not going to find a guy. That was. I was so cool with being a boy and girl father. When we were told it was a boy and a girl, like, I mean, I was like, all right, cool, man. That's.
Brittany
And I think that's why I'm holding on to it. Cuz up until the anatomy scan, we were actually supposed to have a boy and a girl.
Martin
Yeah. They scanned it, and you look and there was Waylon's penis, you know, and so, like, you know, it's like, well, that ain't a girl. Hold on.
Justin
Quick question for y'all, though. What? The first time, y'all were only having one, right?
Martin
Yeah.
Brittany
The first ultrasound was just one baby.
Martin
One baby, two babies. Boy, girl, two penises.
Brittany
Every time we went into the.
Martin
I told them, quit saying anything.
Brittany
Yeah, hey, look, we're done.
Justin
A guy came up to me, me that we all know I'm not gonna announce their baby for him, so we're gonna leave names out of it. And he said on Easter, he was like, hey, man, gonna be a dad. I was like, man, congrats. You've been to the doctor and everything. He's like, yeah, had our first one. I said, well, Martin had his first one, and there was only one. Because he literally said, it's only one, though. And I was like, that's a weird thing to say.
Martin
And so then, don't count them chickens.
Brittany
But wait till the second.
Justin
I said, there might be two. He's like, no, there's only one. I said, that's how it was for Martin. And he goes. And then he went to tell Allison, and he goes, but we're not sure if it's one or two yet. She told me that story. I said, I'm the one.
Brittany
I still. I still have the picture of us from the first ultrasound, of us holding the ultrasound. And it was just.
Martin
I remember vividly, we walked out of that office and said, we beat it.
Justin
Listen up, everybody. I want to take a moment to talk about something that you may not know affects you, but it affects a lot of us. Do you feel exhausted? Exhausted, Weighed down and Struggled to get through the day.
Martin
Boy, do I.
Justin
The culprit might be right under your nose.
Martin
About my mustache.
Justin

Brittany
I'm a. I'm a boy mom, though. I just feel like I. I wouldn't know the first thing about having a girl.
Martin
Yeah, you and a girl would be really cool. So she got about eight.
Brittany
And then we would have beef.
Martin
Then y'all would be, oh, no, no.
Unknown
Yeah, well, there's always that. It's crazy.
Justin
Lottie got beef at Six.
Unknown
But it is.
Brittany
It is crazy.
Unknown
It is so. Cause they both love each other. Okay, but you talking about some knockdown drag out.
Martin
But I see it too now. Like, when you're in the thick of that stuff. Like, the boys are a lot of fun right now. Like, they're a lot. And they like each other most of the time. I mean, they still do. What kids? Well, they fight over stupidest things.
Unknown
You'll see some of that as they get older.
Martin
Yeah, that.
Unknown
Hey, big brother or little brother, whichever way they look at it, you know, hey, don't mess with him.
Martin
Oh, that's coming. Yeah. Because right now it's monkey see, monkey do.
Unknown
Yeah.
Martin
I'm like, if one of them gets to doing something and the other one ain't doing nothing, then they just go do the exact same. Like, it's. Which is where a lot of the fights come from.
Brittany
Right?
Justin
Like, I witnessed a fight this morning.
Martin
Did you?
Justin
Yeah. Lottie came and set her breakfast down beneath the couch and backed into Ben's feet and goes, daddy kicked me. And I was like, no, he didn't. So then he did kick her so he could be like, now I did. And I'm like, hey, what are we doing? It's 6:15 in the morning.
Brittany
Have kids.
Martin
They said that's what Jackson will do. Jackson. Waylon Jackson hates being yelled at. Getting loud things. He's just not a big fan of it. So Waylon will just yell at him.
Brittany
He'll get up right in his face and go, yeah, it just.
Martin
And then he'll turn to us like we're supposed to do something. Like, son, he didn't do anything to you. You just got to. You got to quit.
Brittany
But Waylon knows what he's doing. I know that I'm not physically tired.
Unknown
But he's pushing the button. Oh, yeah, he knows what?
Martin
And it's Tip. Jackson does the same thing. He knows he's faster than Whan.
Brittany
So he's way faster.
Martin
He'll take a toy that Waylon likes and he'll just hold it out in.
Brittany
Front of him and then take off running.
Martin
Boom, zoom, zoom. Take off running, like, yeah. And I mean, he's like, yeah, catch me. He just wants to be chased all the time for some reason. I don't know. Know it's weird because he's chunky, so you wouldn't think that'd be the normal.
Brittany
He's faster than he looks.
Martin
But yeah, he's in my house.
Justin
You'll look up and Carter's running from Lottie like she'll be chasing him with something, and he's like, dad, make her stop. I said, you're twice your size, man.
Martin
You can make her stop.
Justin
I said, you. You can end this right now. But he's just not a violent kid. He's, like, fighting nobody.
Martin
Yeah, that seems to be Jackson's right now. He's a. He's a lover, not a fighter.
Brittany
He submits if. If, like, Waylon wants to come grab a toy out of his. He might resist for a second, but then he'll be like, all right, here, here.
Martin
I don't want. I don't want you to yell at me.
Brittany
He doesn't like being yelled at.
Martin
Yeah. So it's. But it's a lot of fun right now. So I get where you could be talked into having another one, but I think we're a good. We're a good family right now. We're good. We're still. We still ain't figured this out, Jeff.
Justin
Neither have we.
Martin
Yeah, just add another one. Yeah, just keep on, huh?
Brittany
Just one more.
Justin
Did you. Whenever you went to that doctor, did he explain. Did you go to the guy that looks like Santa Claus Clause?
Martin
No, I went to a young guy.
Unknown
Okay.
Martin
Yeah. I went to a young guy.
Justin
He explained to me there is a pretty easy process.
Martin
No.
Brittany
To get it undone.
Martin
He said, reconnect it. He said, no, no, no.
Justin
You don't reconnect it at this point.
Martin
No. He said, consider it permanent. So what he told me. I mean, said, you can do something. He said, but just trust me, you don't want to. And I was like, okay, whatever. Let's do this.
Brittany
What, like the reversal process?
Justin
No, you never get it reversed.
Martin
No. Revert. You can go get it drawn. You can. There's yes, and then.
Justin
Yeah. And then it's bam.
Martin
Yeah.
Brittany
That's aggressive.
Justin
It's not near as fun as the original way they intended that God intended.
Martin
So I'm considering it permanent.
Brittany
I'm not gonna lie in some of my prayers at night. I'm like, lord, if it is your will, you have the power.
Martin
Yeah. And he does. He does, and he does, and he can, and he may, and that's up to him.
Unknown
He's got that. That's for sure.
Martin
I have made mine. Mine is. My bed is made.
Brittany
But go ahead. And if you're going to do it, do it, because I'm about to be 34, and I don't want.
Martin
Oh, you poor thing.
Justin
I know you.
Martin
You poor thing.
Brittany
Old 40 over here.
Unknown
That's her heart.
Martin
Yeah. You poor thing, you.
Justin
For you did have someone ask what midlife crisis is going to be. And I hope it's a little girl now, cuz that would just make me die.
Brittany
Like could you imagine?
Martin
I just don't want to go back.
Justin
Gave me a look.
Martin
I don't want to go back through some of them early stages, but, but I mean like now if they pop out of like two and a half, that'd be cool.
Brittany
But just think about just how easy it would be if we just had one.
Martin
Are you forget, are you forgetting about the other two that we still have to take care of?
Brittany
They'll be more self sufficient. Like when we had two infants that literally could do nothing for themselves.
Unknown
They.
Martin
They won't even go pee on the grass and you're calling them self sufficient? They're not going to be self sufficient for another three years, but they're getting there.
Justin
Carter can make popcorn.
Unknown
Oh boy.
Brittany
Hey, there you go. Efficient.
Martin
Look, Lindsay's kid here yesterday, if you wonder why the office smells weird. She, Finley is a great child. She's 10 out of 10 recommend if you got a daughter.
Justin
She's been on the pod.
Martin
She's been. Oh yeah, Finley's been here. I forgot about that. You consider her self sufficient, right? She's 12, probably maybe a little older, right? Or somewhere around there. 10, 12, say a year.
Justin
Two older than Carter.
Martin
Yeah, she's made ramen noodles up here before. She makes ramen noodles yesterday.
Brittany
She burned them.
Martin
She didn't put any water in.
Brittany
Oh, you can blow up a microwave.
Martin
So when you consider self sufficient, let's consider the sources here.
Justin
Like, you know that microwave has been in danger before. Back whenever I first started, Stone's oldest, Carly, at about 8 or 9, walked into the store, looked at me and goes, there's a fire. Walked out and I said, what? And I ran in and there was just a fire coming out of the microwave because she put a mustard packet in it and hit start.
Martin
Oh, there you go. Yeah, see that's what I mean.
Brittany
Like, yeah, self sufficient enough that we could have an another baby.
Martin
Yeah, and it'll probably be of the canine variety. The next child.
Justin
I ain't doing no dogs. I'd have another kid before I had another dog.
Brittany
Listen, I, yeah, I, I'm with you on that. Another kid before the dog. Because I'm drowning in dog hair and I love our dog so much. She was our first child, but yeah.
Martin
We'Ve already had a girl. Yeah, her name's Jude. She'll be 11 this year. So our time's running thin.
Justin
I'm sure it took a dark turn.
Martin
No, I'm just saying that's the. That's the problem with a dog is most of them you're gonna outlive. Oh, yeah, that's the. That's the.
Justin
If we go down the dog route, I might cry. But I. I have.
Brittany
I'll definitely.
Martin
We're not going.
Justin
We. We talked about it recently and I have made my piece. I'm good on dogs. I'm good on dogs. Like Martin's good on kids. Yeah, I don't need another one.
Martin
I mean, I could be talked into a turtle.
Justin
Nope. You know, I don't want anything.
Brittany
He loves turtles, dude.
Justin
Unless it's like Michelangelo, I'm out on turtles.
Martin
Well, I mean, I would go for a box turtle over one of them that requires like a water deal. But like, I just don't.
Justin
I.
Brittany
They smell though.
Justin
I've reached the self sufficient stage where like, if I want to leave town down, I ain't gotta worry about no dog.
Unknown
I don't like a box turtle's friends.
Martin
Oh, I had one box turtle. Yeah. Yeah, we. Our house used to be infested with centipedes. I would. Yeah, it earned its keep because it would go through eating the centipedes in our house.
Unknown
You just had it.
Justin
You just had a turtle that roamed free.
Brittany
Yeah, he's a free range.
Martin
Where's he gonna go? Yeah, we gave him water. He ain't gonna just ate the centipedes. He ain't gonna run out the door on you.
Justin
But was he house trust, right?
Martin
Johnny D. Turtle poop. You would never even notice that man in your home. A little box turtle. Yeah, you're not going to notice that on your own, but I would say right now with the boys current obsession, we're trending towards some sort of lizard.
Brittany
Yeah, they're obsessed with lizards, which I'm not excited about.
Justin
But if you want an animal, the Monroe Zoo is available. And those are basically house cats.
Martin
Anyway, they love catching lizards right now. Like they just look at you and go, go catch a lizard or. And then you watch them, they like sneak up like they want to be like a baby cheetah, but you know, then they don't know what to do once they get there. And the lizard's like, all right, Brahma.
Brittany
Yeah. Then they look at dad and they're like, pick this up.
Martin
Yeah, can you catch him for me and let me pet him and then we'll put him back.
Justin
That was a great episode. And I think Sat nailed it on the Bible verse. We're going to call it our hooters verse.
Brittany
Oh.
Justin
Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you declares the lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, you, Plans to give you hope and a future. Don't get stuck in your hooters. Is that the tagline?
Martin
Yeah. Don't get stuck in here. And if hooters management reads this and y'all put that verse on a shirt, we just want some credit. That's all we're saying.
Justin
Don't get stuck in your hooters.
Martin
Yeah. Don't get stuck.
Justin
Believe it's now called hoots.
Martin
Hoots.
Brittany
I was just about to say, I just don't see how they can be family friendly and still be called hooters.
Justin
I think they're switching to hoots.
Brittany
Okay.
Martin
There you go.
Brittany
Like toots.
Unknown
Well, it's just modestly dressed and paid.
Brittany
Yeah, I'm here for it. Because it. I. I'm here for it.
Unknown
Let the imagination take over.
Brittany
Yeah, absolutely. You go Hooters.
Unknown
Yeah. I'm serious. Yeah.
Justin
I'm going to Wingstop.
Martin
Yeah. We'll see y'all next time. Right here in the duck call room. We're out.
