They may have moved on to the next level, but they remain beloved Dukies. The latest edition of the DBR podcast takes a look at how Cam Boozer and others are faring in NBA summer League action. There are plenty of interesting stories about Isaiah Evans, Maliq Brown, and guys still hoping for a big NBA shot like Trevor Keels and DJ Steward. After the break, Jason and Donald dive into a new trend in recruiting, the kids showing up on campus a year earlier than expected. From Jojo Boumtje-Boumtje at Duke to new recruits at UCLa and Texas, this is becoming a trend. Are they making Two-and-done into a new thing? Learn more about your ad choices. In a matter of weeks, Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje has become perhaps the most hyped recruit on the planet. His latest accomplishment was winning the MVP of the FIBA U17 World Cup leading an incredibly talented Team USA in scoring and rebounding and 3-point shooting. The Duke Basketball Roundup watched a bunch of the FIBA tournament, including every second of the championship game on Sunday. The podcast guys break down everything they have seen from JBB as he prepares to arrive on Duke's campus in the very near future. After the break, Jason and Scott dive into the topic of NIL spending with a breakdown on which ACC programs are spending what on their rosters. While the top of the list may not carry many surprises, you may find some unexpected names in the lower tiers of NIL spending. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

There was exciting news and also a little bit of a bummer when it came to Dukies and the NBA Draft this year. The Duke Basketball Roundup guys hopped on to do a pod shortly after Isaiah Evans was taken in the second round (they wrapped up only minutes before Maliq Brown was picked -- bad timing). And while Isaiah's slip may have surprised some Duke fans, the podcast guys explain that it may not really matter all that much in the grand scheme of things. The DBR pod also breaks down the expected result at the top of the draft as Cameron Boozer went #3 and finds himself in a pretty good situation in Memphis. And, before they sign off, the pod crew talks a bit about Duke's West Coast trip in November which will find them playing an unexpected foe in an unexpected place. Learn more about your ad choices. Guess who is back from vacation? Jason Evans returns to the DBR Podcast just in time to talk a bit about his favorite semi-international Dukie, Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje. JBB was trying out for the Team USA U17 World Cup team this past week and we got some good intel on how his game stacked up against some of the best teenaged American players around. Jason and Scott Rich break down what they have heard about JBB and how he projects at Duke over the next couple seasons. After the break, the DBR Podcast crew also dive into the latest social media videos being put out by the Duke basketball team, including a very revealing look at the newest member of the Duke coaching staff, KJ Conklin. The NBA Draft Preview series concludes on Episode 830 as we discuss the final Duke player eligible for the draft, Maliq Brown. One again, Jay Bilas is back to speak on Maliq's qualities and how his game translates to the next level. He obviously needs to continue to work on his offense, but can his defense carry him in the Association? After Jay wraps up, Donald and Scott react and give our final predictions on a) if Maliq will hear his name called in the second round, and b) where he could go if drafted. It's almost that time! The 2026 NBA Draft is almost upon us, so it's time to jumpstart our NBA Draft Preview series with Episode 828.. And once again, we're honored to have Jay Bilas join us! Donald and Jason were able to sit down recently with Jay Bilas to discuss each of the three Duke players who are eligible to be picked in the NBA Draft: Cameron Boozer, Isaiah Evans, and Maliq Brown. On this episode, we focus on Cam Boozer, widely presumed to be among the first three players to hear their names called by NBA commissioner Adam Silver. Jay provides his analysis of what makes Cam such a great player, how his game will translate to the NBA level, and what he can work on moving forward. We then hear his over/under on where he thinks Boozer will go in the draft. We then hear from Donald and Scott Rich, who react to Jay's analysis and discuss what they think Cam can do at the next level. They then offer their over/under takes on where we will hear Cam Boozer's name called and to which team. Next up in the NBA Draft Preview series: Isaiah Evans! That episode along with the Maliq Brown episode will come later this week. Make sure you’re following us! The ACC-SEC Challenge matchups have been announced, and Donald and Scott Rich combine to discuss it all on Episode 827! Before we discuss the challenge, we give our takes on the report that the Duke-Michigan game is going to be shifted to LoanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins. A baseball field?! We go through the ins and outs of keeping the game but adding the spectable of it being in a retractable roof non-basketball stadium. We then get into the ACC-SEC Challenge, first on the men’s side. Duke will head to Gainesville to take on Florida in a matchup that we all expected. Still, it’s a potential top 5 matchup and we’re pretty excited that it’s another high profile non-conference game for Duke. We also discuss the other matchups in the ACC-SEC Challenge and which ones we’re looking forward to seeing. We finally end on the women’s side with Duke drawing South Carolina, one of the two best programs in women’s basketball, and having that game in Cameron. For Kara Lawson’s bunch to take the next step in the program’s desire to ascend to the top of college basketball, they have to defeat teams like Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks. We’re excited about the opportunity the matchup presents for Duke to take that next step and show they should be considered a title contender. Make sure you’re following us!
