Earlonne Woods
Earl.
Nigel Poor
I'm Earlonne Woods. I'm Nigel Poor, and we're the host of Ear Hustle.
Earlonne Woods
If anyone out there is hearing us for the first time, Earlonne, should we give them a quick primer?
Nigel Poor
Of course. Our show is about the daily realities of life inside prison. We launched back in 2017 when I was still a resident of San Quentin.
Earlonne Woods
State Prison and I was a volunteer teacher. We still tell a lot of stories from inside San Quentin, but over the years, we've also expanded to talk about life after prison, and we've started telling stories from other prisons and prisons across the country and the world.
Nigel Poor
I'm no longer a resident of San Quentin.
Earlonne Woods
Earlund. I can hardly remember when you were. Seems like a lifetime ago.
Nigel Poor
I mean, I still go in a lot. And, Nyge, we're here today because it's our final countdown.
Earlonne Woods
Yep. We are launching a new season of Ear Hustle and Earlonne. I'm sure you can hear it in my voice. I am positively giddy.
Nigel Poor
Indeed. So we're gonna do a little game here. I've picked out a few clips from our upcoming season, so I'm a Play these, and you can give our listeners a taste of what's in store for them.
Earlonne Woods
I love surprises. Let's do it. I did nursing for a little while. I committed crimes for a little while too.
Nigel Poor
Which one was more profitable?
Earlonne Woods
Nursing. Ooh. Is that from our last memory episode? That is.
Nigel Poor
That is.
Earlonne Woods
I almost couldn't place it. That little clip tells you that we are to be doing at least one story from a woman's prison.
Nigel Poor
Yep. Next up, clip number two.
Earlonne Woods
I got a very important question.
Nigel Poor
Go.
Earlonne Woods
Did you sit or hover? I hovered. Yeah, me too. I never sit. I'm so excited this is making it into the season. Can I reveal what that is?
Nigel Poor
I'm trying to now. I can't remember that one. I remember the question. I just can't remember the person.
Earlonne Woods
It's a very important question.
Nigel Poor
Okay.
Earlonne Woods
She and I have the same answer.
Nigel Poor
Up next, we have another one.
Earlonne Woods
All right, let's hear it. I love this game. I love everything that a drunken housewife would read.
Nigel Poor
A drunken housewife.
Earlonne Woods
I think there's gonna be a lot of laughing this season.
Nigel Poor
I hope so.
Earlonne Woods
This episode is gonna make a lot of listeners happy because it is a topic that we get more requests for than any other topic.
Nigel Poor
I know what it's about.
Earlonne Woods
Yep.
Nigel Poor
All right, Nigel, I got two more teasers for you.
Earlonne Woods
Only two? I could do this all day.
Nigel Poor
I know, but we only got two minutes.
Earlonne Woods
Okay. All Right. All right. Right, Right.
C
I know how to live. I know how to live in here. I know every day. I gotta get up and go to breakfast. Go program. I don't know if it's the way of life, the structure. It is sad that I got comfortable with it, but it's just the way it is, you know?
Nigel Poor
You know what was funny just now?
Earlonne Woods
What?
Nigel Poor
To watch how your smile just left your face when that. When that clip.
Earlonne Woods
As soon as I heard her voice, it brought that whole story.
Nigel Poor
He was over here smiling, and it was just like, whoop.
Earlonne Woods
I know. I felt like everything just got sucked out. So this is a topic that I think is going to be controversial for some people. I think I might just leave it at that. But her voice is so. What's sort of evocative.
Nigel Poor
Her voice gives a great depiction of basically what she's talking about.
Earlonne Woods
Yep, exactly. Oh, that's a good teaser, Earlonne.
Nigel Poor
I just got one last clip to play. You ready for this, Nigel?
Earlonne Woods
Yes.
Nigel Poor
You gonna get a little streets, a little romance. You gonna get lots of money? You gonna lose lots of money. You might even lose your life. But I'm just saying, it's entertaining.
Earlonne Woods
Okay, this one stumped me. I have no idea what this is. Is this your mystery episode? I'm getting the blankest look from you. Okay. Last season, we did a thing where I did a mystery episode, and Earlonne didn't know about it until I played it for him, and he did a mystery, and I didn't know about it until it played for me. I feel like that was a tease about your mystery episode.
Nigel Poor
All right, listeners, just like Nigel, y'all gotta wait to hear this. It will be coming out soon. September 4th. So set your reminders. Cause we will be dropping into our feed September 4th.
Earlonne Woods
Very, very excited. And I cannot wait to find out what that last audio is from. Tune in.
