Foreign. Welcome to the Earn the right to live your dreams podcast. This is Coit Cooper and I'm ready to rock it out. What's going on, friend? Welcome back to the ETR podcast. It's been a bit since I've released an episode and I just thought, man, it's time to get on here and just start to do new episodes that serve you, that add value to you. And I've had so many different coaching clients, just people who used to listen to the podcast saying, coy, when are you gonna bring it back? And I've told them, you know, I feel like I'm in the space to do that now. Got some amazing things I'm working on, excited about. I've got some ideas that I'm ready to share. And so this is me starting to do that. And today's episode is called this Three steps to find your way in a frantic world. We right now are in uncharted territories. We have some just very unique challenges that we've never faced before on several different fronts. I think the biggest one that most of us know about is Covid and how that's just created this interesting response in our society. And I'm not interested in talking about that right now, but I am interested in talking about that in the context of, with that and some of the challenges I'm about to talk about in a second. The one thing I've noticed as I look around is a lot of people who are frustrated, who are stressed, who are overwhelmed. And I think as a whole, one thing I've seen, and even from really, really amazing, special people, is uncertainty. And I would even say a little bit lost in terms of kind of out there and not sure how to find their way back. And the one thing I've noticed is even higher level people with all these challenges. It really is a lot. And so, so many different people I think are in that spot. And I thought to myself over the weekend, I was thinking about this topic and I thought, my immediate thought is like, how do we arrive at this point? And when I put that question to my mind, the immediate response I came back was, of course we're lost. There are so many different things coming at us right now that are designed to take us off track. Let me just give you some examples and then we'll come back to this idea. Number one, we literally every single day have thousands of advertisements telling us we're not enough. Now they're telling us we're not enough. Because if you do that, you can play to people's Pains and you can sell products, but. But when it comes to the context of us, every single day, thousands of advertisers, you're not enough for this reason. And then telling us what to do about it, which is generally buy the product. And that seems a little bit harmless on the surface, but it's not though. I mean, every single day those messages are going in and subconsciously we're being told over and over and over, we're not enough. And if you're not aware of what's going on, there's implications to that and there's this just desire to go out and purchase these things to fill that. And that's not the topic of this thing. But just being told we're not enough over and over again, it's a really, really unique challenge. Two non stop news teaching us to focus on fear. Now, again, the media, it gets eyeballs and that by showing us things like this, because it plays to people's systems, our amygdalas tend to respond to things that threaten us. And so the news is constantly doing these just dramatic stories to pull us in. And it's not only teaching us to focus on fear, it's showing us consistently what's wrong in our world. Now, at any given moment, there are at least, if not more really amazing things going on in our world. I would say it's a lot more. But because of this focus, what we're getting is we're getting this negative slant that you need to be afraid, number one, because all people are bad and these bad things are going to happen. But just always focusing on what's wrong, that's not healthy for us as human beings. It's not a good thing for us to just move into this and just, and just process this information without an awareness of what we're doing. And I think you need to minimize that at the very least, if not eliminate completely. But the final thing, this overarching concept is this a constant barrage of messages of people telling us how to live our lives, what products we should purchase, what things we should be scared of, and just in general, how we should go out and make decisions in our lives. And the thing with that, the problem with that is when you combine it all, what's happening to so many people, and it's happened to me too, is that when we don't filter this out, we go out and without knowing it, we start to make decisions that are not our decisions. They're not truly what we want. And when you start to do that, it's easy to find Yourself lost, making decisions that are outside of who you are, who you want to be. And what ends up happening is you get in that spot, and it is frustrating and it can be overwhelming. But I thought to myself this weekend, what if it's not that complicated to correct? Number one, own what's going into your brain. Pay attention to the advertisements, the news, basically all the messages that are coming from technology and from people around you. What are they telling you? And don't just take those things in. In fact, learn to ask yourself this. Is this actually true? Is what I'm being told true? Do I really need that product? I don't think I do. Then don't buy it. Or is this really true, what I'm learning on the news? And you don't have to go crazy on this, but just refrain from going out and just taking everything in, even this podcast. This doesn't serve you. Reject it, don't use it right. But the key is for you to start living your life on your own terms. And that's one of the things I'm most passionate about in my coaching club. My private coaching is I want to help people do that. So in this episode, I'm going to give you three ways to make that happen. Three steps to find your way in a frantic world. Frantic world. Stressed, overwhelmed, Just in a spot where we don't want to be. And so here's what I would really say, and if you've listened to my podcast or you've worked with me, the first step is not going to be a surprise to you. I think the single most impactful, important decision that you can make to create change in your life is. Is, number one, to rise early. Rise early and point your brain to positive, to productive, and to possible. And so I should say this. This is almost like an overarching concept. Just scrap the whole. Number one thing. The single most important thing that you can do to create change is to rise early and point your brain to what's most important right off the bat. If you can push off technology and these things that are feeding you negative messages, you will start to set the tone in a really powerful way in your life. It's this incredible shift. You say, nope, not going to touch any of those things. Instead, I'm going to take control of what goes into my brain first right off the bat, and that's going to set the tone so you can do it in the rest of your day as well. Okay, so now that we've made that decision, you say coy. I'll absolutely do that. I will. I can spend. I can wake up early and give five, ten minutes to this. That's all you have to do, really. Five or ten minutes. The most incredible changes that I've ever seen come from the place where you create a pocket to start thinking for yourself. That's really, really important. So in this morning ritual, where you're rising and setting the tone, what you're really doing is starting to think for yourself. Okay, now that we've said that this is this foundational piece, here are three things, three steps that you can take to make sure that you find your way. Number one, when you rise early, consider what you value most. This seems like a subtle little. Is that really that impactful? It is. Unequivocally is a huge decision to make. Why? Because most of us, me included until recently, have been told all our lives that we need to value status, we need to value power, and we need to value these things that don't actually matter to us. And if you really do truly value those things, by all means, go for it. But what I'm really saying is sit down and say, what areas of your life matter to you most? Is it family? Is it faith? Is it your business? You creating this amazing business that you believe in? Is it fun? Is it friends? Sit down and think about what you value most. What areas of your life do you want to prioritize moving forward? It's so important that you do this, because if you don't, I promise you this, you're going to go out and people and messages are going to try to tell you what you should value. You go and follow that. It doesn't matter how good your system is, your goals and your habits, you will be pursuing the wrong thing. You will be climbing the wrong mountain. Okay, imagine that you want to go climb Mount Everest. And instead your friends, you go out and you think you're climbing Mount Everest. Come over here. This is really, really cool. And you go and you climb this mountain. And they're like that. You realize that wasn't. That wasn't the mountain I wanted to climb. And I didn't. I didn't even like this mountain. It wasn't even good mountain. Didn't even challenge me. If it's the wrong mountain, it doesn't matter. So when you sit down and you wake up early and you wake up and you just say, hey, what do I value most? What matters most to me? What areas do I want to show up and be the best I can possibly be at moving forward and limit that right off the bat to maybe two or three areas so you can start building momentum in your life. That's number one. You do that and it's an incredibly powerful thing because, number one, you're starting to set the tone for where you want to invest. Two, you get to tell your brain every single day, this is what matters to us most. Because even once you've chosen these things, you should get up every single day and say, you know what, brain, here's what we value. We value family, we value faith, we value just building this world class business, this coaching club that radically transforms people's lives. And if you do that with excitement and enthusiasm, you get your brain's attention and you got a shot. When you move out into the world and it tries to tell you what to value, you do it every single day and you will start to set the tone to make your decisions in your life. That's number one. The number two way that you can do this is to consider really who you want to be as a human being. This is really super important, you know, because again, so many different people telling us who we should be, what we should do. And when you sit up, when you get up in the morning and you say, who do I want to be? And you answer that question, now you've got this map to go out and follow. And what I recommend that you do is to take a look at your most important life areas. Again, if it's family, faith, business, those three, right? Sit down and say, okay, who do I want to be in those areas? Do I want to be caring man? Do I want to be impactful, energetic, whatever it is that you want to be, write those things down, start to revisit those things every single day. Maybe it's patient. You need to be more patient, right? Write them down every single day. So when you go into the world and it's telling you to be shallow, you go, nope, that's not who I am. I'm a person who serves every single day. I selflessly serve my family and the people around me because that's who I'm passionate about being. I promise you the world will try to take you away from that. And when you say every single day, no, no, no, no, no. I'm going to fight for this. I'm going to fight to be this person in my most important life areas. It is transformational. It's one of the most important things I do every single day to make sure that I'm on track. And now the number three thing though, because again, I want to Keep this compact. The number three thing you want to do is this, okay? Once you've considered what you value most and you've considered the person you're passionate about becoming, sit down and think about, what is it that I want to create in my life? If this area of family is really, really important to me, what do I want to passionately go out and pursue? And you might sit down, say, you know what, Coy. I want to make sure that we have time every single night without technology to just play, to just do games, to just connect. That's a really powerful thing. You might say, once a week, I want to go out and do something fun to make epic moments with them, or, I need a date night with my wife. That's you creating a vision. That's you creating a blueprint for a life that will be truly meaningful for you. And you get that down right, and you start to revisit it every single day. And you say, man, what I value most is family. And I'm going to do a 1, 2 combo. Here's who I want to be. I want to be loving. I want to be caring. I want to be present. And then you come down below and you go, you know what? I'd love to create this environment where we're connecting every single day. This spot where I'm making sure that I'm spending quality time with my partner that is unbelievably powerful. Maybe it's in your area of vitality. You say, you know what? I want to show up and I want to start investing in myself. I want to drink water. I want to exercise. That's what I want to be able to do. Because this outcome, I want to have this vibrant health. This is just a starting point. There's so many more things that you can do. But to avoid getting lost, what you got to do, you sit down and create a pocket to think for yourself. This is your life. This is your opportunity to go out and to create something really, really special. You can't do that if all you do is go out into the world and listen to other people telling you what to do. And I hope I'm doing this in a productive way that serves you. If not, again, don't listen to it. But what I'm really encouraging you to do, create that pocket every single day so you can think about what's important, so you can start creating a plan to make that happen, so you can follow through and commit to those things in a world that's pulling you in a lot of different directions. You can find your path and start taking that path to a place that you absolutely love. That's one thing that I know that's totally possible for you. So as I come back in this ETR podcast, I just want to say, in the middle of all this, create something special. Get out. Carve out your own path. Get out and do your thing and just have an extraordinary life. So I hope this serves you. I'll be back to talk to you soon. Take care. I hope you really enjoyed this episode.
