Welcome to EKA166! Today we are joined by Ace Enders and Jeff Kummer from seminal New Jersey emo band The Early November! Amanda and I have both been fans of this band for over 20 years so we were very excited for this interview and the guys did not disappoint. Truly class acts who made for an incredible conversation that covered everything from the early days of the band to their multi decades long friendship to this past weekend at Warped Tour in Washington DC. Ace has worked extensively with friend of the show and previous guest Gabe Woodrow so we chatted about Gabe as well as tons of other bands from Yellowcard to a drive thru records special emo gauntlet featuring everyone from NFG to SoCo to The Starting Line, Finch, Hellogoodbye, you name em! Plus, did we get the inside scoop and possibly name their seventh LP (#TEN7)? At times this conversation gets philosophical and at other times it's heavy and then it's all laughs. Truly one of our favorite interviews in show history, I'm not sure if I wish these guys were my best friends, my dads, or my senators, but either way wow what an absolute treat they were. Thanks guys!-------------------------------Thanks for watching, please subscribe to our show for more content! With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA165! Today we are joined by Jus Rus, a singer/songwriter from Philly! Jus Rus is the solo project of Justin Russell. Justin and I have followed eachother on tiktok for a while and couldn't help that we basically had the exact same taste in music so once he had some new material to promote we had to have him on! We filmed this while Amanda and Catherine were in DC at Warped Tour so this is a classic solo dolo Robbisode. Justin and I talk about his musical influences and origins along with his journey so far as a musician. Along with this we talk Philly, Jersey, and all of our favorite bands from the area. The Gaslight Anthem, Jack Antanoff, Bruce Springsteen, The Menzingers, this was such a good time. Justin has been slowly releasing singles over the past couple months and honestly, we might be looking at a real underrated hidden gem here. How tf does the tristate area produce so many great artists?!? Lets discuss!------------------------------Thanks for watching, please subscribe to our show for more content! With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA 164! Today we are joined by our most long distance guest in show history, Walwin! Walwin is a singer, songwriter, producer and overall just cool dude. Currently based in Melbourne by way of South London, Walwin was kind enough to join me early in the Aussie morning for one of the most fun conversations we've had on the show. We dive into what makes pro wrestling so special, its correlation with alternative music and how it influences are culture as well as Walwin's wrestling Mt. Rushmore. We discuss his upbringing and early music history, from first hearing Chad Kroeger & Josey Scott's song "Hero" on the Spiderman soundtrack to playing LA in the 2010s to the upcoming release of his next single Parasocial Princess (mixed by former guest Tom Denney). We discuss Oasis, The 1975 and the musical stylings of the one and only Jim Johnston. The day we recorded this interview, his song "Make Stacy Great Again" did not leave my brain so we discuss the meaning behind the track along with some of his previous work like Survivor Series '97. Welcome to EKA163! Today we are joined by Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It., Pet Symmetry, The Progress and so many other projects. Evan has been a pivotal figure in emo for the last 15+ years so having him on was truly an honor. In this episode, we discuss his personal progression and history as an artist, from HS days with The Progress up until now. We spend time talking about his production work with Pretty Bitter, sports., and a few other mystery bands that we can't mention here, but oh my LORDE we are going to be feasting in late 2026/early 2027. Evan is mentioned quite a bit in Andrew Sacher's upcoming book Emo Revival and with finishing the book and talking to Andrew on just a couple weeks ago, it was perfect timing to talk about his thoughts on the book as well as his thoughts on how the quotes made him look. We bring up Fest, as has been the case quite a bit lately, as well as how he balances each project.----------------------------Thanks for watching, please subscribe to our show for more content! With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA160! Today we are joined by an up and coming emo band out of Dayton, OH called Hawthorne Heights! In all seriousness, JT and the fellas were kind enough to take some time to sit down with Amanda for an interview at the Vans Warped Tour in DC. We talked about the importance of bands supporting other bands before pitting bands against eachother and making the band pick. Along with this we also discussed the term elder emo, as well as the state of the genre today. Welcome to EKA 159! Today I'm joined by Ethie, the tour manager/booker/photographer/graphic designer/ merchperson for quite literally like 82% of the bands we have had on our show. Leisure Hour, Palette Knife, Stars Hollow, Adjust The Sails, Tequila Mockingbird, Thoughts on Bowling, Dear Maryanne you know em, Ethie has worked with them. We talk about how they got their start, our similar roles as adjacent support staff to the scene and the community surrounding us. Oh yeah I think at one point we talk about how Dear Cincinnati and Walking Blue are the future. Parenthood, the unhinged Emo Game of the 2000s, this episode has a little bit of everything. If you're in a band, we probably talk about your band. sorry.-------------------------------With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for emo and everything else.
