All right, so we got another preview and this is all happening due to our awesome sales rep, Mr. Clayton Trammel. He's been doing a phenomenal job and we're able to represent all good show cattle. They got a sale happening on SC online sales on April 12, a steer and heifer sale. There's a lot of diversification in terms of what's to offer and different variety and end points on what you can get. I think it's a very awesome sale and I'm glad to be able to represent Mr. Randy Allgood. Randy, go ahead and introduce yourself so everybody can get to know you a little bit. And then Clayton, give us your thoughts on the lots and then after that we'll dive through them.
B
Yeah. Thank you for having me. Randy Allgood here. I've been, been in the cattle business I guess since I was pretty much born, which I'll be 60 this year. We've effectively been in the show cattle business since I was 11 and I taught AG for about 10 years. I've judged a lot of shows all across the country. Back in the, the late 90s, early 2000s, we ran about 250 Maine Club calf kind of cross cows and would sell anywhere from 50 to 70 head of steers and heifers every year. The drought has caused me to sell out two times over that period and unfortunately I always sell out when the cattle prices are low and have to buy back when they're high. And man, I tell you, we're, we're living in some good times right now. If you're a cattle producer but have fourth generation here now with my granddaughter at the ranch and my daughter as well as her had a successful career, I kind of had to, had to learn by the school of hard knocks and tried to put a good program together and maybe I figured it out. We've, we've had a fair amount of success and yeah, that's me. I just, I enjoy mentoring kids and have done a fair amount of that. I think I've got a really good eye for show cattle. And you know, we, I got a motto around here and anybody that buys cattle from me that holds true and I share it with them, that we're going to get beat by three things or we're not going to get beat by these three things. We're not going to get beat by a better feeder, we're not going to get beat by a better showman and we're not going to get beat by a better clip and fit job. And if we get beat by A better calf, so be it. So that's me in a nutshell.
C
Well, Randy, thank you for coming on. Some old school genetics here with Mr. Allgood, close personal friend of mine that I've known for quite some time. Been fortunate enough to be in a ring next to him sorting the show. Been fortunate enough to dress some cattle with him, Been fortunate enough to help him sell some cattle and we're sure excited to have him on here and trusting in us and our platform and what we can bring to the table. Let's get, get started on these lots. Look forward to hearing his thoughts and seeing what we can make happen for him.
B
Weston, before you jump into this, I would like to make sure. Just go ahead and apologize to your listeners. We had total chaos out here trying to get these cattle pictured and videoed and they absolutely are not represented to the quality in my opinion that they really are. We had 80 and 90 mile an hour winds a day that we pictured and it was just, it was just rough day. So anyway, come see them in person.
A
No, I understand that completely. Picture days always if he asko, no matter the setting. And so I commend y' all for still getting it done. Y' all started off with lot one. It's going to be an In God We Trust on female you call 94, which is a 1Oak solid gold AOC or Lemmy classifying steer. That's got an awesome hair coat on him, stout featured calf that's got a lot of power and dimension. I think he's a, a nice Fort Worth cap for sure. But I do read him to be a slick shooting machine. I'd love to see him come with that kind of power to, to the green chips or even the turf for sure. What's Yalls thoughts?
B
Well, for me, so these first three lots I actually bought for my granddaughter and, and Clayton knows that story and, and they wouldn't be for sale if there just wasn't a, you know, just a difficult situation right there with that. But I bought this calf from John Maples. Had gone out there before Fort Worth went through that group and I thought this thing, John had a pin of 80 or 90 and I'll give John a shameless plug. He does an outstanding job out there. But there was a group of the things out there and it took a minute to sort through them, but this one kind of rose to the top and I asked John just stick him on trailer and bring him to me when he came to Fort Worth. This one I did not know what, what his full brother was going to do. And so we're sitting two weeks before Fort Worth. When I looked at this calf, put it. John put him on the trailer, brought him to me, I think on the. The Monday night in Fort Worth started when we had all that ice and snow or right there. Right, right during all that time. I'm going to Alabama a few weeks here, right there during San Antonio. I didn't make it San Antonio. And John text me and he said, little brother to your calf just won San Antonio. And sure enough, you know, Jet James won it. And then Brian Martin had his sale. But I absolutely love this calf. He's. He's a middleweight all day long, in my opinion. The calf is square hipped. He's powerful, huge feet, great running gear and soft metal. He's got a lot of relaxation up in his spine. When you get that thing tied up and that neck gets out there, that shoulder lays in there so good. But he is so powerful down in that lower quarter. And I looked at those calves that Brian sold in his sale, and I honestly think this one's got more dimension than any of those calves did. So I. I'm. I'm all in on this one. My intentions were with that one. He. He was so hairy when he came in that like that. The calf that you're going to see that's in the. In lot three was kind of my target for calf, but this one was so hairy that I always had that in the back of my mind, you know, just what if, you know, if he could. If you could hold him for class four or if you went ahead and pushed him in there for seven or eight and, you know, try to get a piece of that division. I think that one's legit for. For San Antonio or Houston. And I do agree with you, that thing on the green ships are down there on the turf. Will look incredible.
C
Yeah, Jets. Jets calf for me was a home run. The calf just had so much presence, stout feature, just not really a hole in the calf. This one, this brother here just to me resembles that one, Ted T. And he provides you with lots of options. I love the hair coat of the calf. And when he throws his old head up, the calf just reads to be balanced, lots of rib shape, good on his feet and legs. Whether you want to take him to Fort Worth and that upper light to lower middleweight division, or you want to hang on to him and peel that hair off for the turf and chips. Hey, I'm all in on this one, too. Good calf, yeah?
A
Yes, sir. Completely agree. Well, lot Two will be next. This is a fire in the hole sired calf that's a red cross prospect. And what I like so much about the calf is it his center portion of his body. I mean he's so expansive about his rib cage but he couples that with a very good hind leg. That's got awesome posture to it. He has awesome hair coat. I think this calf would be an AW contender there at Fort Worth. What's yalls thoughts?
B
Yeah, and you'll read my footnotes on that thing. I go back and forth on this red one and there's days that I like him as good as I like the gold calf to me. And the reason I brought this one in, I honestly didn't feel like the Lot 3 would be hanging around after cowtown. I figured that this calf or the lot one calf would be San Antone Houston Austin deals. And that red cross thing I feel like is wide open. But I will echo exactly what you said. He is so massive topped and he's got so much rib shape to him. He gets around, he travels good, get his old head up. He's got plenty of extension out there and he's as gentle as a guy could make. One that thing comes up and he's in my hip pocket every day which want to lick on me. So I like this one for a red cross. I really want to peel the hair off of him, uh, you know, whoever the family is that gets him and, and focus on San Antonio Houston because I, I think that one gives them all they want.
C
I'm a sucker for a good red one myself. And this one sure fits that bill. I think this thing just peel the hair off. I mean looks incredible as a slicking red cross monster back rib shaped look. Watch that thing. In his video he cats around and thank you Randy for mentioning how gentle this calf is. Looks like he could be first timer quality or an attitude and, and senior year quality. Good job here, yeah.
A
Yes, sir. Well, lot three will be next. This is a king of kings on a ready to rumble monopoly, female Charlay or aoc. I'll be completely transparent. He's not the densest haired preacher in the world. But I do read this calf to be an awesome slick steer prospect. And the reason I say that is just his length of neck and where it ties into the top side of his shoulder and his angularity as well. I think with a little time in tlc, this calf's gonna be right on the money for a slick show. What's yalls thoughts?
B
Yeah, I mean I don't disagree with that at all. I do know that when he came in he was so hairy and that that was the one that I had actually pegged to go to Fort Worth and try, you know, try to run on up in there. I mean we've had success down in that, that division one and you know, I thought it was time to try to run on up in the, with the big boys and, and you know, a lighter silver one was kind of on the menu last year for, for our judge. And so that thing to me is probably as good of a dual purpose calf that that's in the offering. He was hairy, he's super sound, he's cocky, he's not aggressive at all. I will say, you know, that I wouldn't put a first timer on him. I think he's going to take somebody that's got a firm hand but a soft hand as well, one that knows how to handle cattle. He's not snorty and I get along just fine with him. The kids have been in the barn get along with him just fine. That have been helping me. But he, if you look at the butt profile picture that I think is on SC of that thing, he so much natural shape and dimension and I, I think this is like the big time calf and you know, everybody wants to put their best calf in the third hole on sales. He's here for a reason. He shucked out. I mean we've had 100 degree days. You guys have witnessed that. So he just lost all of his hair. But that thing was that. That one's really, really good in my opinion.
C
Yeah. Another one I like quite a bit. And when I first saw the calf initially in pictures and videos, I thought slick sheer machine. But then you read pedigree and you got to think the thing's going to be hair. It matters if you decided you wanted to take him to Fort Worth. But just awesome calf that that scoots around that pin with so much athleticism, flexibility, awesome looking, lots of shape. Good, good calf there.
A
Yes, sir. Lot fours next. This is going to be another In God We Trust on the Thompson show Steers Donor 650. And in terms of hair quality, I think this calf's got him beat by a mile. I love how dense haired he is and how much volume there is to it. But to couple that with, with that kind of back shape, rib cage and power out of his hip and lower stifle, I mean, I think the caps are real nice middle to heavyweight there at Fort Worth. What's your thoughts?
B
Yeah, I agree with that, he's, you know, if you look at, you look at the other photos in there, he looks like a poodle. He's got so much hair and. But he is plenty dense, plenty style. He's got a lot of top shape to him and that thing gets out there and he looks incredible. Big footed, big bone, just, you know, and he's bred, bred for success. I mean, that thing's got such a good pedigree behind him and champion after champion all over the country, they've come out of that deal. So he's a really, really good, super gentle calf and I think that one's got a lot of upside to him.
C
Yeah, I think that thing would look real good at Fort Worth under Mr. Ward with a, with a little girl or a little boy on him, awesome haircoat. And he stops there in that video and throws his old head up. Kev knows he's a show steer like that one quite a bit too.
A
Yes, sir. Lot five is next. This is going to be a huff and puff on another Thompson donors 905charolay or AOC prospect. What I like about the calf the most is probably him from profile in terms of his proportionality and symmetry, his ratio from for to flank and how he progresses back deeper. I think that calf's going to continue to do so on the right feed program. I do like the calf a whole lot. I think he's extremely dual purpose. What's yalls thoughts?
B
Yeah, so there's a phrase that I always use and always have in the back of my head when I'm out shopping for cattle. And I want to see an inverted chest floor in these show stairs that I buy, meaning that that chest floor is not quite as deep as they are in their midsection of their belly or in their flank. And this cat to me kind of exhibits that. He's up headed, neckties in really high, he's cocky, got a lot of bone work to him. He is proportionate. And if you look at him, he's got so much turn to that loin, so much natural rib shape all the way from the point of his shoulder back to his hip. Just a big, powerful, stout calf that you know he's going to stay in the middleweights. That's where he needs to be. And got good hair if you wanted to shear him. That one gets along as well too. So good. Good calf.
C
Yeah, very dual purpose, but at the same time, incredible hair coat. Wide base, wide up high. Awesome show steer look. Calf's in four wheel drive all the way, all the time when you, when you study that video of him. Good calf there.
A
Yes, sir. Well, lot six will be next. This is a pure reflection on a, a Glover cow. 1. I love that bull. I think he's phenomenal and been knocking it out of the park and I think that's a representation of the quality of what this year is. I do like this calf's rib cage. I love how big his hip is and how he still utilizes a burly hind leg. I think again that this calf slicks off and is really nice. What's yalls thoughts?
B
Well, this. So this is an older calf. I, I bought this steer for my granddaughter last year and skinny and that, that's kind of how I've made my living in this deal and been able to afford these really good calves is I'll go pick those skinny salmons and bring them home and let the genetics in our feed program work. And so this calf's got a little age on him. Weston, he's weighing right at a thousand pounds. Now. I bought him with the intention of going to Houston this last year for Ava. I fed on him and fed on him and fed on him and we got right to about a thousand thousand twenty with him and I quit him and he's been turned out on a round. Bella Hay. I have not been pushing on him, but that thing has got so much foot size to him. He's big bone. He is so massive and square in his hip. Rib cage is there. And when you get him on the halter and get that head up, that thing is so good. Looking up through that front one third. For me, if I was going to carry on with this cab, I got three schools of thought and they're on the notes here. You either take him to the state fair, get him home, start hammering on him, take him to the state fair, get him weighing 1250, 1300 and go in there and try to knock a home run out of that thing. I don't think there's going to be a better, better looking one from the side. I don't think there's going to be one that's got more power than that calf. Take him to a county fair in the fall, go try to win that deal. Or if you're, if you're a little wild man like I am, I had even contemplated holding on to this calf, just kicking him out all summer long under shade tree on about the sorriest bell of hay. I could get him up in October and go to Fort Worth and try to hammer on him because this Thing had big, big hair. So that's, that's, that's my thoughts on him. I think there's so many different avenues a guy can use that calf, and it's just. He's just a cool calf.
C
Yeah, I share the same sentiment. Just sitting here, you know, studying and reading the calf and, and just so many train of thoughts running through my head on options that you could do with him. And first thing that hit, man, that thing sure would look good at Dallas. Gonna have the maturity now, it sounds like, for you to be able to feed on him and get him to that point. And sometimes, hey, these things, they. They tell you what you. What they can handle and what they can't handle. And sometimes maturity just doesn't allow it. But I sure do like this calf. And the first. First initial thought to me was slick shear at Dallas and go give him. Give him a run for it.
B
Yeah, let me, let me, Let me qualify one thing on that cap before we move on Ava and Clayton. You know Ava. I mean, she's 10, and she's a heck of a stick. She showed him this calf. When I first had him on halter, we took him to a jackpot, and he drugged me. It was all over Facebook that he drugged me, all over Jack County. I put a nose ring in him. And I can tell you, if you get horsey and get rough with him on that nose, it ain't going to be good for you. But if you're gentle with him and have a soft hand with him, he's fine all day long. He wants to be a good boy. But if you get some old kid in there, you know, or a grown man that comes in there and just tries to. To bully him around, you're going to find out what a thousand pounds of wrath will do to you. So just full transparency on this calf. If you buy him, gotta love on him.
C
Hey, thank you for. For bringing that to attention. For everybody listening and looking to buy, I completely agree.
A
Lot 7 will be next. This is the start to your heifer prospects, and what you got in lot seven is a Sancho on a Miles McKee TCC's Diana. This is a Hereford heifer, and I do like her quite a bit from profile in terms of her length of neck, length of body, levelness of build, and her utilization down low at the surface. Talk to me about what your thoughts are on her and what she can do for someone else.
B
So I. Ron Springer, and Ron is no stranger to the. To the purebred game out there in Louisiana. And his has won on a national level, you know as many as brought home as many banners as anybody. I called Ron and I told him, I said hey, we tried to do this last year, didn't happen. And we spoke again. He's like hey I got three or four I want to send to you. And he sends me this Hereford and then he sends me the pedigree or sends, sends me a picture of the Hereford, sends me the pedigree and I go out one. And if you're a Hereford enthusiast you'll, you'll understand the pedigree, the Sancho bull and then you combine that with the Miss Diane double. Oh one cow. Probably one of the most celebrated, just most accoladed female out there in the Hereford breed. Going back to thousand dollar miles McKee bull. It was a world record setting bull. I see this heifer not only being able to show, I think that the true value of this female is in the donor pen. I think that there is a tremendous amount of potential to generate. You know I, the word that I like using when, when like especially if you get a young family that jumps in on one of these. These are generational wealth, herd building type females. And I think that there's three of them in this cell with the Hereford being one of them on these cattle. We're going to own all the heifers, we believe in them, we're going to retain 50% flesh embryo rights on them. But when I got them in I slow roll them and I've had them on nothing but soybean, whole pellets and hay. I didn't want to get them too fat, I didn't want to get them over conditioned and they got some age on them now where you get them home and start hammering on them. If these things are going to blow up and get big bellied and they're sound and they're fresh right now. So I love the heifer. I think she really, really good. And that pedigree is second to none.
C
It seems like all me and Weston have been talking lately is sear. So it's nice to switch gears just a little bit and dive into some nice efforts here. And hey, if you're into red and white ones like Randy said, you know this thing not only can make a, a great show effort but I, I would agree. I think probably her most value is down the road as a donor and just all the right pieces to go out there and generate you dollars down the road. Good heifer here.
A
Yes sir. Well, lot eights next you switch it up A little bit offering a key Angus or orb. This is going to be out of the prairie View Farms insight bull on an R and R. Erica. And quite frankly, I think this one belly down as a bread is going to be pretty unique. Her feet and legs are awesome. In tandem with that as an profile.
B
Yeah. Weston. So my favorite ones to feed for for majors on these on this female deal are going to be those late spring, early summer barns because you know at the end of the day you take them back down there as heavy breads for San Antonio, Houston, you're going to be in contention. If you've got one that's built right this heifer pedigree royalty, you know, you go back to Connolly express style. Got ace on the damn side and PVF inside on the top side. That one to me is an incredible bread. And she's sound, she's first year gentle like this thing is so sweet and so, you know, young kids need something to show. I think that one there will get them in contention first year. Or if you got a senior kid that may or may not have had any luck, I think this one right here is one of the guys you'd look at.
C
Yeah, Randy's already told us kind of how he's been been slow rolling these heifers and study this one's video. To be slow rolled and still have that much depth of body, that much rib shape, that much look and balance, she got to really be excited about what this thing can do. When you get her home and get her on your program and get her get her rolling towards the major show season.
B
Yeah. Shucked out now, but she had great hair.
A
Awesome. Good to know. Lot 9 is next and I'm intrigued by this one. This is going to be out of Colburn's Primo on Conley's DS Sandy Angus female. I really like her brood cow potential. That's a big footed, stout featured female. That's dense haired, but she couples that with such a bold and expansive rib cage. I think her head shape is awesome. I just talk to me about her and what you think she has to offer to the public.
B
Yeah. So this is, this is an unfortunate deal that I got her. I'm fortunate that I do have her. But Josh and Lindsey Bryant, there's some good friends of mine that are in Oklahoma, they've had a, they've had a career life change. And back during Connolly Cell, Lindsay wanted me to find her heifer out of that deal that I thought would be like true foundational donor female that they could put into a kid's hand and get shown and this was the one that I landed on in that cell and they wound up getting her bought which, which really, really surprised me. This heifer, and it is a, is a show pony in my, my, my opinion. She is so cool frontage, she's so skinny neck, she's feminine about her head. You carry all that down into just a super small smooth shoulder. She's got a big swoopy belly, perfect inner top line, plenty of power. Rib cage on this female is unbelievable. It, I'm telling you, it looks like she swallowed two five gallon barrels. She's got a huge foot. She's got good angle to her foot. She's got good angle to her hawk. Big hair, big dense hair that's still there. When that heifer is on point. She, she just does not give you a better look. I just, you know, I've just enough shows out there that like that one in my opinion between her and lot 10, like those are two elite Angus females. Regardless of where they're at, they just got to get them home and take care of them.
C
Well, Randy took care of it for me. I don't know that there's, there's much I need to add other than this was, was certainly a sale favorite of mine and I think the, the options and opportunities with this one are endless. Dig in here boys.
A
Yeah, well you talk about Elite One being in Lot 10. I'd completely agree but she's a little bit different in her type and kind. I read this one to have an awesome maternal silhouette. Little higher tying, little longer necked ratio from forehead to flank. And her maternal lower body balance is incredible. I love her feet and legs and she couples that with an awesome hair coat. I think this one even as a bread as well is going to be extremely impressive. 24 karat female again on the prairie view forms inside on the bottom side.
B
Yeah Weston, this is one that, that Ron, he called me, he's like I've got a big time Angus female out here and full sibs to this female have won countless shows not and there's some, some that are getting shown here in Texas and doing really, really well. But this female being out of 2024 karat back on PVF insight female. She is absolutely incredible. Her age is perfect to go in as a heavy bread next year. Her attitude is incredible. This one is big footage. She's big bones, she's got great legs set to her. You know I posted this picture that, that I'm looking at here the side Profile that she's tied up to the fence. I posted that thing on Facebook and I cannot tell you how many people called me from coast to coast interested in this female. Had people trying to buy her before the sale. And I just, you know, there was part of me that's like, you know what? Take the money and run. And then in all fairness, to have a transparent legit cell, I said, you know, I just got to put her in the cell. Love this heifer. I think she's highly, highly competitive. Everything you said about her is right on point. First year kid, senior kid, open show string donor cow, herd builder, generational wealth builder. We're going to retain interest with this heifer. We want to partner with somebody on her that's going to take care of her. We will help. We'll be in the stall. We will be everywhere that we need to be supporting and pushing this heifer. I absolutely love her.
C
Incredible way to, to end the sale for Randy. A heifer with just incredible feet and legs, incredible body shape, incredible look balance. Just the options and are just endless in a female like this. From show ring to donor pen. And it sounds like Randy's here giving everybody an opportunity to, to have a shot at her. So. Great way to end the sale. Randy, thank you for, for discussing the cattle with us. Thank you for entrusting us. Really enjoyed having you on.
B
I, I appreciate you reaching out to me. Clayton. I thank you that this is an incredible platform and especially being able to tie it in with, you know, guys like me. You know, I'm, I'm not a big name guy like, you know, likes out there, and I just, I want to sell really, really good quality. Don't have to have a bunch in here to sell. But if we're going to do this, I want to sell really, really good ones. And God, I think you guys have developed an incredible platform. Clayton, they're, they're probably not a better guy to be a field rep out there than you. It's just your, your humble attitude, but your, your extensive knowledge of cattle. I mean, you had a ton of success and I think you're the perfect guy right for the time with this. But it's. Yeah, I'm honored to do it and thank you guys for helping me spread the word about our cattle.
A
No, absolutely. Always grateful to represent everybody and anybody. Once again, I've stated before that this sale is found on SC sale days. On the 12th. I know that Mr. Randy would probably pick up the phone for anybody who wants to talk cattle. So with all this said. Appreciate everybody tuning in, and we'll see you all next time. Empowerments here.
B
Thank you.
