All right, we got a repeating customer back here on a preview. We got a sale on steer bidder on March 1st. It's their first annual steer sale for the Rockin H people there in Oklahoma. They're paired up with the Hensley brothers. It's a phenomenal sale. Saw all the steers myself, and to be completely honest, I was pretty excited to look at every single one of them. It is a very deep set of steers. They all range from Denver size prospects to oye cattle. Obviously, Blake is starting off. I want him to introduce himself first as well as Kel Hensley. He's joining us tonight. So both y' all introduce yourselves, and then what y' all do there in Oklahoma, and we'll go from there.
B
I'm Blake Hawley with Rockin H Genetics. We're out of Leedy, Oklahoma. We're proud to offer this set of steers with Hensley brothers.
C
Kale Hensley, Hensley brothers. We operate out of Hydro, Oklahoma, just outside of Weatherford. And our main goal is to just raise and sell competitive show cattle, both heifers and steers. And we're real excited about this set we have to offer. In this particular offering.
A
Yes, sir, for sure. Well, to start it off, you got a very familiar mating a how great thou art maternal maid. It's worked in a lot of firms before. Still does today. Obviously, really unique look from the profile. Big backed, big ribbed, huge feet and legs that work the right way. Talk to me about what y' all are most excited for this calf. From seeing him in person, he seems to me like he'll work real, real good as a middleweight, possibly there in Denver, but could work real, real good in a class, let's say seven to nine at Fort Worth. Or you could hold on him a little bit and take him as a heavy heavyweight over there to Oye.
C
Yep, yep. Good calf to touch on his pedigree a little bit on that maternal maid cow. We had an in God out of that cow last year that the Weatherleaf family showed and found quite a bit of success. He won the progress show at the OSU AGR show and got along at a couple other jackpot shows. I think he was top five four or five times along the way. Actually. That's wrong. It was the Bracken family. Anyway, as far as the camp, I think. I think he's pretty versatile as far as shows that he can hit. I do think that his hip and hind leg and the way that he gets out and grabs the ground, I think would look awesome on the turf at Denver. I think you were spot on middleweight or maybe even a heavyweight, just depending on how he takes the summer and goes into the fall. But one that I just really think is balance and his structure, his silhouette from the side is just awesome, for sure.
A
Blake, any thoughts?
B
No, I completely agree with you guys on that.
A
Awesome. Well, lot twos next. You got another how great thou art Sired calf out of a unanimous cow. Black and white painted up calf, probably a little longer neck, extremely burly hind leg. That works the right way. Personally, I love the size of his pin set and the way his hip looks. Talk to me about his calf, his story, where y' all think he'll end up best.
C
All his extra substance at the ground in his center cage and back and his pin set like he talked about.
A
And.
C
And then I think he's just unique in the way he ties it into his head and his neck and the way it blends into the top side of his shoulder and his ears set way up next to his poll. And I just think his balance and attractiveness is. Is really hard to deny. I think that one's a middleweight, maybe a heavyweight at Fort Worth, but I think he's a real, real big contender there at Fort Worth in the middles. And I think he's spot on size wise to be a contender there at Oye in the heavies. One that I just think is just a really, really high quality calf for sure.
A
And the black and white calves in particular look really, really good there in the Fort Worth ring compared to some shows. So that'd be awesome to know and good to good to utilize. Threes next. Another how great thou art calf. The mother's side is 8301. She's a style over who that a little more chrome to him, probably a little more frame size compared to the two that we just talked about before. A denser, burlier version, but still just as cool from the profile. What do you all think?
C
Yep, yep. This thing's mother's real impressive. Has been real consistent producer for the Watsons there in Ohio, kind of where I picked up this calf at. I think this one's perfect size for Denver or heavy at Fort Worth. I think he's, you know, an 8 or a 9 or a 10 at Fort Worth or sorry at Denver. And I think he's a 10 or 11 or 12 at Fort Worth. But just as far as balance and attractiveness and having some extra substance in his hind leg and his feet, I think this calf's just like real solid, no holes. And then he's still just real good looking and awesome nicked and cool headed as well.
A
Well, then lot four is next. This is a personal favorite of mine. He's an in God we trust out of cow you'll call 83. She's a Denali. Honestly, real good haired, fuzzy, dense haired. Right. I think he works really, really good as a heavyweight in Fort Worth, but I think slicked off as an AOC and San Antone on the turf will really, really emphasize how good his feet and legs are. His square and huge foot size. But I do love the calf as a haired one as well.
C
Yep, yep. And then touch a little on this one's cow side. The 83 cows done really good things for Kane and haulbacks there. I think a brother was 70 or 80,000 last year out of their fall sale. And then this year we were fortunate enough to snag this one. And I think structure wise, he's 100. His hip and hind leg are awesome. His neck and chest and the shape to his head is really, really out there. I think his balance and proportions are awesome. And he is crazy, crazy haired. He's spit a little bit of it here in the last two or three weeks. Just how hot it's been. I think structure wise and balance and eye appeal I think is just awfully, awfully good.
A
Absolutely. Blake, any thoughts?
B
Yeah, I love this kef a lot. He's got a real cool look and watching him strut around the picture pin that day, he. He really cocked off for everybody and got everyone pretty excited that day. I know his videos and some of these other Kev's videos. It was real windy that day.
C
I mean, these.
B
This calf is phenomenal, structure wise and couldn't think more of them.
A
Absolutely. Well then, Lot 5's next. Got another how great thou art calf. Mother side is a primo affliction. This one's rib cage hip size and the way he utilizes his soft hind leg is really impressive. He's real good haired. I don't see this one being a particular heavyweight there at Fort Worth, but I think he definitely is in contention wherever he lands. What do you all think?
B
Yeah, I think this calf's versatile. You can go to Denver Fort Worth. Oie. I think he could possibly slick me and Kale kind of talked about. Also, I love the way he ties out of his shoulder blade. He's real big bodied, like you said. He's good on his feet and legs and he's got enough power and substance that I think he could put someone in the backdrop pretty easy.
A
Cale, any thoughts?
C
Yeah, I think also, like, you're just not going to get missed on this calf. Not only is he just out there looking, but his color and his awesome white markings that go up his side. You know, I think everything about this calf is just loud and demands attention for sure.
A
Well, then, lot six next. Another how great thou art. Bottom side is as good as it gets. It's a kind of brockle faced calf with some chrome on his flank. Obviously this one's a little bigger in terms of his frame size. I think he works really, really, really good as a heavyweight there in Fort Worth. What do y' all think?
B
Yeah, I think so. That's a kef we raised out of our new up and coming good as it gets donor we raised. We showed him at our prospect show for my daughter. He's puppy dog gentle, but I love his neck set, his structure, his boldness in his rib. And he's maybe not as punchy as some of the other steers, but I think he's good enough in his structure that some fed right. He can have enough punch to contend.
C
Absolutely kale like Blake was talking about. I think his build and the shape to his feet and how he utilizes his feet and legs, I think this one can. You can change him and feed him into however you want him to look. I think you can be pretty aggressive with the feed bucket and just careful respond and do the right things just, just on just skeletal quality. And his ability to reach flex out of both ends, I think is really impressive.
A
Yes, sir. Well then, lot seven's next. How great thou art Monopoly. Little smaller in terms of frame size, obviously. Take him to Denver. He's a middleweight. I think he could potentially be maybe a Class 7 or 8 at Fort Worth just from me reading him in person. But I love his feet and legs. He's got a burly hind leg and a really cool look.
C
Yep. I think for me, this one's got oie written all over him. That's just how this calf hits me. I think honestly, this one's probably about as good necked and headed of a how grade as I saw travels this fall. And just really excited to offer this one because I think he's just really, really unique in the way he combines some extra punch and power up high, but moves good. And like I talked about, I mean, his chest is tucked up in him, his chin's tight and his neck's a mile long. I think that calf's quality is awesome for sure.
A
Blake, any thoughts?
B
Yeah, I like this Kev a good deal and I agree with everything Cale said and I think he's a real player at OIE.
A
Well, then, lot eight's next. He's here. I am over 125, which is a strictly business. Hey, it's not the big hair, biggest hair calf of the group. I personally think in terms of his shape over the backside of his shoulder and how wide his pin set is and how much genuine lower stifle he's got, I think he's a real big contender as a slick calf. But I think in the right setting, right home, he gets a good enough hair that he's a nice heavyweight at Fort Worth as well. What do y' all think?
C
Yep, yep. So I actually purchased some eggs from Ferris and this calf's a result of those. And he's always been loud and proud since he was a baby calf. I think he's a real, real nice Sheeran one. His back shapes awesome. His pin sets good feet and legs are really, really nice as well. I will say on this one, probably a little bit more of an experienced showman or somebody that's got some patience. The calf's not mean by any means, just a little quick. I think it'll be fine. But just giving everyone a heads up on that. But as far as the calf himself, his quality is good. And his eye, eye appeal and structure and extra dimensions, really, really good for sure.
A
Blake.
B
Yeah, I agree with him. When I first went out there, when Cale and I decided to do this and I dropped Kev's off me and Kel went out and looked at him and he's done nothing but improve. And I think he's real high quality.
A
Well, then Lot 9 is next one that when I first showed up to the barn, I said, hey, what's that thing? And Kel goes, hey, it's a zookeeper. I think any setting, his presence, proportions and silhouette from the side are always going to be in contention. He's a zookeeper hooda man. Cale, what do you think about him?
C
I'll be honest, I think this is as good of a dual purpose one as we've ever had. I think his hair quality is dang nice, and I think he'll be plenty hairy enough to go to a haired show. But I do think this thing slicked off would be really, really special. And the way that he ties his neck and head to his shoulder and right behind his blade is just crisp and real upstanding in his shape. And his rib cage is awesome. Structure is perfect. And I think his hip is just built to be a sheer in one. I'm a big, big fan of this one. I think San Antonio is where this one needs to go, in my personal opinion.
A
Yes, sir, for sure. Blake, any thoughts?
B
Yeah, I've had several calls on this calf already, and everyone was wanting to know about Fort Worth, kind of like you spoke about. And then me and Kale kind of talked. And I have to agree that this Kiff's got big time future in the slicking ring. I know me and Kale don't predominantly sell slick and calves, but I think this thing's real good, for sure.
A
Well, then lot 10 is next. He's a fight for Trump, Huff and puff. About as dense and burly as you can make. One real big solid back leg. I think this one is a probably heavyweight as Denver. Just reading from notes from what I saw there in person is kind of what a good endpoint would be for him. What do y' all think?
B
Yeah, we agree with that. I know Kale posted a cell phone video of him just to give some insight or gave me a video to put on Facebook. I think this kept like 45,000 views just off a post shared on three or four sites. I mean, I think that speaks measures of the quality of this calf. And he's very sound. I know he's not a breeding that you normally see, but, I mean, this thing's flat. Good, I think.
A
Yes, sir. Kale, what about you?
C
Yeah, I think a little off the wall on the pedigree, but I think if you come and look at him in person, I think you'll be hard to turn this one. I just think his center is so massive. His length of body is awesome as well, and structures dead perfect on and his upper hip and pin set and his back shape is. Is huge. And it's way, way out there. And I think his balance and proportions are spot on as well.
A
Well, then Lot 11's next. He's a how great thou art on the bottom side, a broker hardline. Very, very chromed up calf. Hey, more moderate made calf. He's big rib, big back. I think that his end point would be a middleweight somewhere between Denver and Fort Worth. I don't know if he goes past that. What do y' all think?
C
Yeah, I think, you know, on this one, though, I don't think he has to be real tall to weigh a lot because there's a lot of calf there. His center body's real, real big. His hip and pins and his Muscle shape are just ginormous. And I think what the most important part about this calf is his structure. I think with all that extra shape and dimension, he handles it awesome. And the way that he reaches out of his hip and hind leg, this was one that I noticed kind of fought the wind a little in the videos. And we're going to work on getting some cell phone footage here in the next couple of days. But I think as far as a good, honest feeding calf, that's just really hard to put a hole in, I think this one's as good as any.
A
Yes, sir, for sure. Blake, any thoughts?
B
Yeah, I think this calf's real good quality. I mean, the chrome is going to set you apart number one. And like Kale said, there's really no holes in this kiff. He struts around every day. We're out there working with him, and he's one that I think has continued to get better with time. I think someone will have a good show kif in that one.
A
Lot 12 is next. He's a. Here I am on the bottom side. Broker over Miley. This calf's build is one of my favorites. Extremely good in his angles, level in his build, and really utilizes his hip and hind leg and the way he flexes his lower joints. I love his build and I love him in motion. What do y' all think?
B
Yeah, this is a kif that we picked up from Andrews. We think he's came on like a rock star since he's landed in hydro. He's impeccably built. The way his neck comes out of his shoulders, very impressive. He's got enough muscle shape and pop shape and for here I am, I think he's pretty bold in his rib spring. He's a hard calf to pick a hole in, I think as well.
A
Cale, what's your thoughts?
C
Yeah, and also to go with that, he is ultra soft haired and I think, honestly, a guy could shear him if he wanted to. I'm not saying that he has to be by any means, but I do think just his balance and the shape to his head and I think his neat mark on his. On his head there. The white dot I think gets your attention and I think the quality of the calf would get you along really well as well.
A
Lot 13 is next. He's a. Here I am. Daddy's money. This thing's silhouette from the side is really neat. Long necked, zero throat and chest, really actually pretty adequate in his rib shape. And I love his pin set and the way how big his hip Is. I mean, I think this calf is probably a middleweight at Fort Worth in my mind, but reads to be really good in terms of oye as well.
B
Yeah, this calf's dang good. Cody Bailey raised him. I know we showed a calf with this same exact pedigree. Me and Cody were talking the night or the day of the show or picture day. This calf's pedigree I think alone sets him apart and he's polled. So if you could hold him to oie, I think he'd be a gangbuster in the Angus deal. He struts around the picture pen with ease and he's got adequate muscle and top line. I think he's a real nice kiff with a lot of hair for sure.
A
Kale?
C
Yep. And. And his mother is. Is real impressive and I think this calf is impressive as well in his own right. I think just ultra good looking. Big, big haired, big pinned, good feeding.
A
Well, lot 14's next. He's a. How great thou great thou art over here I am. And this is a little bit of line breeding for those people that are a little scared of doing so. This is a great representation of how well it works. This calf's neck set, the way that he looks from the side, how big ribbed he is and big hipped, he still moves really, really well. Very dense haired calf. I think that no matter where he goes, I think that personally San Antonio is a main slick doff. He works really good. But I think his hair quality is undeniable and it could work at a haired show for sure.
C
Yep, yep. Lined up just a little. My good buddy and Brent Toll raised this calf and we're very, very fortunate to offer him because I think this is a really good feeding one as far as from a structure standpoint, I think this calf's impeccable. His hip and hind leg are spot on. His knee sets back in him good. And from there I think he's a good bodied calf. That's crazy, crazy haired. His neck ties high on the top of his shoulder. I think this one's a big, big player at oie. That's where I like for him to go because I just think his length of body and the shape to his feet and the size of his legs I think will will fit that setting really well for sure.
A
Blake, any thoughts?
B
Yeah, it's a calf my daughter's grown attached to. We showed him at the prospect show, so he's already got some shows under his belt. For someone needing a first time kev with the senior quality I think he's your ticket. His hair is probably as good as any calf in the sale. I mean, I'd love to see that thing fit out in a prospect show. I think he's dang nice and he's got a great attitude.
A
Well, then lot 15 is next. He's a How great thou art and the bottom sides of Monopoly Angus. And for the record, we were sitting there clipping this calf and I asked Kale, I said, hey, is this thing pulled? He said, yeah. I said, hey, this thing class Angus all day long. I think he goes to Fort Worth in the middleweights. If he's pushed right, could make the heavies. But this calf is a perfect representation of what Angus needs to look like for this time and day. Big rib, big hip, and has the big soft feet and legs that Frank Ward reiterated that he likes so much. What do you all think?
C
Yep. Yeah, this is kind of like when a plan comes together and all the things go right. Is this calf for an Angus. I think his body shape is awesome. I think his pin sets are big and the way that he utilizes his feet and legs is good. And he's flat foreheaded. I think the shape to his ears are good and he is big, big haired. And I think all things go right. I think this calf could be a major player at Fort Worth.
A
Absolutely. Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
Yeah, I like this calf a good deal. We had a gentleman from Texas and I had never really noticed a kef until he was in the pen when he was looking at a group there. But I think this kev's very, very high quality and I kind of think he could also slick as an Angus. What do you think, Kale?
C
Yeah, I agree.
A
Well, then lot 16 is next. He's an In God we Trust broker, Red Thunder. Hey, this one's really dense haired, but he's extremely big rib, big hip, and has the big soft feet and legs. I think personally this one there in Denver, in the lights and on the turf there, he would be highlighted extremely well. What do y' all think?
C
Yep, I agree. I think this thing's center body and length of back and the shape to his hip and his hind leg, I think would look awesome on the turf. I think the way that he plants and pushes off of both ends, like, I think that the way that he gets out and goes, he'll. He'll look dang nice on the turf or dirt. But I do agree with you. I think the way that he's built and put together in his presence, I Think that calf would look awfully special there.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
Yeah, I like this kef a lot. I love the way he ties out of his neck. I think that's one thing this sale offers is a lot of good quality front end and structure. And this calf is as good as any calf in the sale. And he's highly on my top end of my list for sure.
A
Well, lot 17's next. Blake, you were bringing up structure and how good it is, especially in the front ends. I think that that is a perfect representation of what Lot 17 is. This thing has zero throat and chest, extremely long neck that sits at the top side of his shoulder, and still really good in the way he utilizes his hip and hind leg. Big haired calf that I think would look really awesome there. And Fort Worth, he's a How great thou art over Hazel. What do y' all think?
C
Yeah, this was actually our purchase from Wade Rogers out of his pasture sale and one that we think a lot of. He's a brother there to reason to praise. And that Hazel cow has a. Has a pretty long list of accolades of shows that she's sire or raised that have gone on to win. And so I think the proof is in the pedigree there. And the calf himself is. Is awfully, awfully hard to deny in his presence and balance. Someone that I, I think will look good at Fort Worth. I think he's a middle at the Fort Worth, and then I think he's about spot on for a heavyweight there at oie. But I do think the calf's quality is very good.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
Yeah, I think this thing's way good. He's another one we posted on Facebook and he's up in that 50, 60,000 range of views. And I mean, you just look at his silhouette and it screams to me perfection. I think his structure is great. I like the. I just like everything about that kif for sure.
A
Well, Lot 18's next Shorthorn prospect. He's a center of attention over Sugar Bear. Moderate made, easy feeding type of calf that's got the big, big time hair. Utilizes his feet and legs. Right. Where do y' all think he ends up and needs to go?
C
I think lot 18 makes a really nice lightweight, maybe a middle at Fort Worth. I think his center body and his extra punch and stoutness up high, I think makes him also a very dual purpose calf. I think he'll shear off real nice and I think if you want to take him to oye, I think his length of body Spot on. And like I said, he is really, really stout. Handles it the way he should, and still got a really nice neck and chest and shape to his head. A real high quality calf there for a shorthorn.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I agree with Cale. I think he's a very good calf, and it's hard to find just real good shorthorn mark calves. I think this one will be a lot of fun for somebody, and he's very good in his middle, and I
C
think he'll be one that you could
B
hold on all the way to.
A
Awesome. Well, lot 19 is next. Want to talk about extreme pieces? I think that's the. The perfect description for this one. He's how great thou art maternal made. Length of neck, length of hip, length of body, but still being proportional. A silhouette is amazing from the side. I think this one at OIE is incredible. What do y' all think?
C
Yep. I. I don't disagree. I think a guy could sit on him there for. For Oie, and his big hair and big pieces and big legs would awfully stand out on the dirt. I think, honestly, I think he'd be a really, really competitive lightweight at Fort Worth as well. Just. Just how loud his look is and presence, and then you get in behind him, and he's a calf that's still got plenty of pin width and back shape. But I do think that he is just crazy, crazy haired and just demands some attention, for sure.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I think this calf's awesome. I mean, I love this calf. From the first time Cal sent me a video on him, he's just got wild pieces, and I think by the time he hits maturity in the lightweight division at either show, this thing's a real baller out there for sure.
A
Lot 20 is next. He's here. I am Monopoly Kelly. This thing's front end is really intriguing. If you watch the video, you can see how much presence that he gravitates. This one's real big ribbed, still big hipped. Where do y' all think he needs to end up?
B
This is a kif we got from Diekmans. We think he's real dual purpose. We love the way he ties in out of his shoulder. He's got good center of body. He's massive on his top line and rear end. He's good structured. I mean, I think this Kev could go all the way from Fort Worth, your slicking shows, and then all the way to Oie as well, for sure.
A
Kale?
C
Yeah, I think his length of body and his balance, I don't think it'd be any problem getting him there to oie. And then I agree with you. Also like to combine the extra substance and shape and dimension and muscularity. He's got his neck and head and are really, really out there. And his balance and look from the sides. Awesome.
A
Lot 21's next. And kale, you mentioned reason to praise earlier. You got one that sired out of him over an i80 cal. This one's a little chromed up, short backed, really good feet and legs. Length of neck is awesome. It sits at the top side of his shoulder. Where do y' all think he needs to end up? I think he's a great middleweight at Fort Worth.
C
Yep. I agree. Also, I think middleweight at Fort Worth or could go to oye. And I think somebody that's got a little patience, calf's maybe just a shot greener than some. I think he's a mayborn as well. So he's a little bit younger than some of these. But as far as skeletal quality and the way that he's put together, I think this cap just reads with a lot of quality. His neck is real, real long. He's tight under his chin. His chest is drove up. Like I said, I think somebody that's got a little patience and time, I think will look real, real smart down the road.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I think with his color and his hair, he's going to be noticed. And I agree with Cal. He's not as ready today, but he's their size, so we decided to offer him. But I think that this might be the bargain of the sale for sure.
A
Lot 22 is next. He's anything goes Monopoly. Cal, length of neck, length of proportions is really nice. But just from that standpoint, the way he moves in motion is something that I really appreciate. Where do y' all think he's be end up? I think he's a real easy feeding calf in my mind.
C
Yep. I don't. I don't disagree. And boy, he's stout. His pin sets wild. And the shape to the base of his quarter is really good. And back shape's awesome. I think he's pretty dual purpose. I would say he might, might even look better sheared than he does hair, to be perfectly honest with you. And I do think he still has a real, real good look from the side. Just a real good, honest feeding calf like you said, Blake.
B
Yeah, I think this calf from the side is very, very put together. He's probably still a little green kind of like the calf above him. But I think at the end, you're going to be happy with this kef. And I think there's a lot of good to him.
A
Lot 23 is next. He's an in God we trust maternal maid for those northern guys that like to call cattle husky. I think that's the perfect representation of this one. Dense maid, huge rib, huge hip. This one's back shape is awesome and the size to it. I think this one has a. The hair quality to make Fort Worth, but I think this one slicked off at San Antonio and on the turf there would be really awesome.
B
Yep, yep.
C
And so this one is out of the. The same cow as lot one there. And we talked about the brother for the Bracken family there that won the osuagr show and was top five multiple times there last year. And so we kind of know the predictability of this pedigree. This calf's going to feed and do the right things. His hip and hind leg are all. Are just perfect. I mean, he's got some extra cushion there in his ankle and the way that he goes out of his hock is spot on. And like you talked about, I think it'd just be a real practical, good feeding one. He did fight the wind just a little and didn't want to just kind of cock off as. Maybe as much as some of the others. But I do think in terms of a good feeding one, he's. He's awesome.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I agree with Cale. I think this is just. You get what you get with this kef, and there's zero structure problems with him. He's big metal. I'm not so sure that he's not. I don't know. He's good haired kef, but I. He reads real good, slick into me, which I'm not saying I'm an expert at it, but I just think this is a very high quality individual.
A
Well, lot 24 is next. He's a How great thou art who demand Steiner. Just when we were clipping this one was one of my more favorites. Looking at him from behind the shape and depth to his rib cage, the width out of his pin set, and then watching him there in the picture pen, his presence, his silhouette from the side utilization of his hind leg is really impressive. I love this calf. I love his color and I think he's really demanding.
C
Yep, totally agree with that. And this thing's mother, a good buddy of mine, Nick Hoffschulte, and I, we. We kind of partnered up and and tried really, really hard to buy this thing's mother. And so when we kind of got the opportunity to offer this one, Caldwell and us just kind of partnered up on this calf here. And we were just really, really excited to offer this one. Not only because of how cool his mother was, but the calf himself just reeks of quality. I think he's an awesome Oie shorthorn. I think the size of him is built for that. His presence is undeniable. His structure spot on. And then you get in behind him and he is just explosive up high and down to the base of his quarter. I just think this one is going to be really, really tough to turn at Oie and the shorthorns.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
Yeah, the first time I saw this kiff, I was blown away. And I love his color. It's a hard color to make. I love the way his neck and his head come out of his shoulder. I mean, he's giraffe necked and he's soggy middle. With that being said, that doesn't come very often. And he's got the big shag and the big legs. I mean, I think this thing's real good.
A
Lot 25 is next. He's an heir to the throne over an Angus female. Length of neck, how tidy it is and the way it sits at the top side of his shoulder, how big and short backed he is. I really like this one reads to be a little more moderate compared to some. What do you all think?
C
Yep, I think this one makes a very nice Angus at Oye. I think he slicks off and makes a good, good cheer in Angus there as well. For the Texas majors, his structure spot on his knee sets back in him good. And boy, his neck's a mile long and it sets up high on the top of his shoulder. And when he goes in motion, he's dead level on his back. And I just think a really good feeding Angus.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I think this calf's real good. I think it's hard to pick a hole in him. Like he said, he's soft on his legs. He's got enough dimension and shape to him that I think someone be real happy with this calf in the Angus division.
A
Well, then, arguably one of my favorites of the entire sales lot 26. How great thou art in God we trust. About everything you could ask for in a calf in terms of his neck set silhouette. Look from the side, how burly he is and how big and soft his feet are. I was watching this thing in the picture pen beside Clayton Weatherly as he was there. And he said the same thing, that this calf haired is going to be really hard to beat. And I think the perfect place for him would probably be Denver. What do you all think?
C
Yeah, I agree. We're, we're really, really proud of this one. We kind of just tagged these things as they come through the chute and we shave their heads and we just kind of randomly pop tags in them. And I guess that's why he's towards the, towards the end of our sale here is just, just the way that we tagged him, but one that we're just really, really proud of. I think he's just really unique. I think elite is overused a bunch in this particular and the way that people describe show steers, but I do think this one's ultra elite. I think he's a middleweight there at Fort Worth or Denver, but I would really be proud to see this one show at OIE because I think he'd have a. Have a chance to run with the best of them.
A
Blake, what's your thoughts?
B
I agree with Kale. You don't find one with this much mass and can carry himself with such presence. First time I ever seen this kef, eyes blown away in the hair. And honestly, after Kale clipped him, I didn't know he was actually this good. But this thing's, this thing's a real deal for sure.
A
Lot 27's next. He's the last lot of the sale. A lightweight deluxe. In my mind. He's made to order. Here I am. I think this one at Fort Worthen at Fort Worth in the lightweights is an absolute hammer. Length of neck, length of body, the way he utilizes a stout, burly hind leg is something that'll be real sought after there for Mr. Frank Warden.
B
Yeah, we think this calf's real good. He's a good calf to finish the sale with because he's still high, high quality. He's got plenty of power, good middle, upheaded, very sound on his feet and legs. And he's got the hair to go with it. I think this calf's got a bright future.
A
Kale, what's your thoughts?
C
Yep. And I also think he's a real dual purpose one as well because his back shapes awesome and I think his length of spine and center body is dead on to sheer. And the way that he goes out of his hip and hind leg I think is also real attractive. And then you kind of combine all that together with his real pretty head and neck. And his tight chest. I think his quality is just good, for sure.
A
Well, that wraps up the sale. You can find it there on Steer bidder. It happens on March 1st. If you have any questions or concerns, their numbers are found there in the bio. But I hope that we answered everyone's questions for all the lots. You can find them there in Hydro, Oklahoma. I'm sure they'd love to have you out and let you check them out. With all this said, y' all want to tack on anything? Before we end the preview, I would
C
just like to say we need to give thanks to our crew that's helped get everything ready and gathered up. Big thanks to them, the Bailey family there, for offering us a great place to sell out of. And then also just to touch base. We. We are happy to help as much as you want us to, whether that be feeding or showing up to the show to help you get them ready. We want to be as involved as you want us to be. And so. And also we just urge you to make the trip to hydro to see them. And if you can't, just please call with questions and we'll give you a good, honest representation of the cattle. And we're just very thankful for all the interest that we've had. And thanks for having us on for sure.
A
Blake, how about you? Anything?
B
Yeah, we're just here to help you guys. We want to help and see you guys succeed just like we would any of our own kids. And I didn't know Kale a year ago, but I'm telling you right now, you want to talk about a guy who has as much want, he's your man. I mean, he'll work all night, all day to make sure these cattle are perfect. And I think the representation of the cattle speak measures on his abilities and the crew's ability to make them look right for the time. And I think that's what you have to offer whenever you get ready to go in the show. Ring is someone that's going to help you to the fullest. And I may not be a good clipper hand, but I'll help however I can.
A
That's right. With all this said, this is what it's all about. I love doing sales like this, especially with people like you all. So with all this said, thank you all for tuning in. Empowerment's here. We'll see you all next time.
