It is now 8:12am on Sunday morning. It is December 21st. I'm extremely excited, but I get to do a preview for M. Lazy Heart. And I'm sitting here with Mr. P.D. miller. I'm very, very excited. This sale is phenomenal. All the lots. I love looking through all of it, all the info, all of the meetings. It's very, very cool to sit here and have this opportunity. So, PD if you want to introduce yourself and talk to us about what M Lazy Heart is and what. What yalls goal is to achieve, we can go from there and then we can dive into all of the lots.
B
Yeah, absolutely. Well, first off, thanks for having me. My voice may be a little scratchy. Been going around to too many cow shows this time of year, but thanks for having me. And I'm P.D.
C
Miller.
B
I'm the ranch manager for M Lazy Heart Ranch, also mom and dad, who actually own the operation. I'm their oldest boys. That makes it a little easier as far as the hiring process to get me back to the school.
C
M Lazy Heart Ranch, we've got about.
B
350 primarily club calf cows and seed stock cows out here in Torrenton, Wyoming. Mom and dad have been at it for hair over 20 years trying to raise show cattle and honestly make them better. I think last year we sold show cattle to something like 26 states and sold 117 of them from coast to coast, from New Hampshire to California to Florida to South Texas and sent a couple up into Canada.
A
Wow, that is awesome. That's awesome.
B
Try to send them all over. And we're a little probably heavier in this tiered game, but we're trying to diversify a little and get into the heifer game as well here recently.
A
Awesome. That's great. With that said, I honestly, from what it looks like, lot one is really good way to start the sale. She's a maternal maid. Kelly, open spring of 2019 is when she was born, Right. And then quarter main and key, right?
C
Yep.
A
Awesome.
B
So she'd be.
A
And why y' all are offering her?
B
Yep. So she would be something like six and a half percent key, which I think is valuable just because her mother's so high key. But so that's a maternal made Kelly. And I think if you're around show cattle, you know that that pedigree is really, really hot right now for cows, you know, so her mother or that cow will be a full sister to the mother that likes my third and fourth overall. Excuse me, reserve and third steers. And who's your bee congress? Those RCC1s are hitting all over the country. Just thought it was a unique opportunity to have this cow around. I actually bought her last December when we bought all of Trey Hurst cows down there in Fiona. And to be honest, we've just got so many gilded cows around right now, I think I've got 530 frozen embryos in the tank, and we average putting in about 110 embryos a year. So just what I have in the tank right now lasts me for at least four years. And shoe flux is so good, we just decided it was time to have a partner. And honestly, I'd like someone that has some different mating ideas as well. You know, maybe we come up with the next new thing.
A
Absolutely. For sure. And so with that said, we got a lot too. She's a get you some classy, which is hairy bear over heat wave. Another open female. Y' all are selling half interest or embryo interest on almost 7% key. She's a TH carrier and looks like she produces more oocytes than your lot one. That's crazy to me. Talk to me about her.
B
She does. She spits out a lot O sites. That's a heifer that my cow, that my sister showed that we towed it all over the country. I think if you were anywhere from Kansas Beef Expo to Denver there in 20, 18 and 19, you probably saw that one and you probably liked her. Just an incredible show effort. Phenotypically, really, really impressive. And she's had some nice calves. That's something else flush out of her. Those steers averaged a bunch of money. And we've tried to do a few different bulls. Another one that I've got so many eggs banked up in the tank. I mean, I've got extra specials, hits, difference the orders, some greatness, how great they are. I've got so many eggs in my tank, it's time that I probably just sell half of that one and let someone else maybe have another few ideas as far as mating and see if we can make the next great one.
A
Even pairing her to like. Like a king of kings. Red and white and delight. Water to wine. Like a triple clean bull like that, I think would work really cool, too.
B
Absolutely. I think. I think she's a very versatile one because she makes females very well. And she makes skus well.
A
Absolutely. For sure. Well, then in lot three, you're offering full. Full possession of lot three, correct?
B
Yep, full possession.
A
Awesome.
B
I am gonna keep two flushes on that one. I'm offering all that one.
A
Yep. She's a ginger versace which is a Versace. Y' all are offering a flush on her later in the sale. But she's an mab Harry bear, and she's a fall of 2023. She's clean.
C
Yep, she's clean across the board.
A
Awesome. Well, that's real good. So, yeah, triple clean red one that, I mean, to me, looks insane. I mean, I love her color. I love her build. And she's obviously out of yalls proven Versace cow.
B
Yep.
C
So she's a ginger Mab Harry bear. Heat wave. So Versace and baby lot two. And the mother to lot three would be maternal sisters.
A
Okay.
C
And they would also be maternal sisters to, like, Patton's reserve exotic steer at Fort Worth in 2020.
A
Yep, yep. And it says that she's AI'd to that dual intrigue. Why did y' all decide to AI her to that bull?
C
So that bull does a really good job of those calves spit out.
B
I think the heaviest one that I.
C
Had this year was about maybe 82, maybe, and wanted to bring her to something that wasn't gonna tear up the first time. But I like the fact that if you take. If you get one out of that pedigree that you like, they're maintainers right off the bat. So if you luck out and get a heifer, you've got a taner heifer that you can show or keep around in the herd. Yet the boat gales are stout enough to where you can cut them and sell them for steers.
A
Well, then in lot four, you have a justified over brass monkey. Heat wave. She's another fall of 2023, and she's a bread. Y' all also have AI her to that dual intrigue. Talk to me about why y' all are offering her and what you see the benefits in buying something like this.
C
I think that one's intriguing just because she's another dual purpose. One that justified bull has been doing really good things for us. He's out of that lot, too. Baby donor. And all those cattle are just so good legged and so good middle. That's a little older one that I just figured would take a nice picture and video and someone else can have a lot of fun with her mother goes back. So that heifer's grandmother is actually the mother to Deadliest Catch as well. My first show heifer.
A
Wow.
C
Awesome. So she should have a red bean buried in there somewhere. I think if a guy can make some yellow baldies or something like that, that'd be awfully cool, for sure.
A
And no retaining anything on her, correct?
C
Nope. You get all of that one.
A
Well then in Lot 5 you got a gravy train. Get you some alley. Another bread heifer. She's a spring of 2024, so a little younger. But from what it looks like, she's triple clean, right?
B
Yep.
C
She's triple clean as well. And wow, that's one intriguing animal.
A
Just from her pictures. Absolutely.
C
I mean she is one high necked, good looking one and I don't exactly know. So her mother was fourth overall market heifer at Denver. It would have been in 2020. Really good cow. She's black and white. Gravy train is a Snapchat carpe diem bull that I bought from Laramie Priest. A clean deal, big muscles, real good looking and she just got covered naturally. That's a little younger heifer. She's like a mid April. But the thing I. I don't know how I got one that color. It's awesome. I mean she's got. And she doesn't have a feather on her neck, but otherwise that is a dang sure Hereford a lot of places. I think that one's intriguing. Just the amount of mating versatility you want to make Southern Herefords. Let's go. You want to do her to in God. You want to make some cool colored ones. Awesome. Yet she's still a quarter main. I mean if you go back with all me, you're making red mains and to me that sounds like something that would sell off a well for sure.
A
Absolutely. Well, you have her paired to that MC Bankroll bull. Why did y' all decide to AI her to that bull?
C
Just they come out real easy. That's an Angus bull that we bought from our neighbors in town. And I think the heaviest one I've ever had out of that flood or out of that bull. Might have been. Might have been 75 pounds.
A
Awesome.
C
Just something that calves easy. And that bull actually does a good job of making pretty boxy, hairy calves. A Cavanese Angus bull. But last year he had fourth overall in reserve at a county fair in Colorado.
A
Wow. How about that?
C
They've got some gas, they've got some grow. They're pretty boxy middled.
A
Right.
C
I've kept some females out of him. We've had that bull around for two years now. We'll calve his first females out when my cows get down from lusk and my heifers start calving there in February.
A
Awesome. Well then in Lot 6 you got another baldy heifer. She's a break the bank icon unleashed. She's another spring of 2024 high main and she's also bred to the same bull that PD was just talking about, the MC bankroll. She is triple clean right thds and from what I can tell, I mean that female's just got a huge rib cage, really flexible and sound in the video. Talk to me about what you think a bull wise would work with her in the future.
C
That is a big middled soft high main and her first calf right out the gate would be a main Angus. Being out of that bankroll bull. I think that one for a high mains intriguing because I like the baldy headed high mains and I think there's a lot of mating versatility with that one being so big legged and punchy like a me too or an all me back on that one on a little different pedigree I think could be awfully cool. And her mother we would have shown her if I didn't freeze her ears off. Her grandmother won the bread known show at junior nationals for Paige in 2019 and then went back as a pair in 2020 with a heck of a calf on her side that we sold at junior nationals. The only pair we've ever shown and it was actually worth it. But I think another one that brings a lot of mating versatility to the table. One that you can do to here I am or one that you can keep a little more maternal.
A
Well going down we got lots. She's a spread the word quality counts. Monopoly for one. That quality counts bull has always intrigued me but this female's by far one of the coolest ones to look at. Picture wise. Lot 7 is pretty neat. AI to that intrigue bull that y' all have talked about. She is a key and talk to me about why y' all are off and her and what club calf bulls you think work with her as well.
C
Yep, she's th and pha clean for sure. We didn't actually test her for ds but I think one that's so good looking and so short backed for a club camp donor type cow. I think that one works really well to any of those bulls that you know we're just going to smooth one up and keep their feet and legs big. I think she's got plenty of punch and power to inject a look and some stoutness and if a guy can just keep them good jointed and real good middled, I think you'll be fine. Now that cows had a lot of really good heifers here. Actually Hearst back in the day would have been three years ago about a red and white sister to her that was out of our something else bull. I think that one brings something like 16, 17,000 and did a lot of good things in production. So her mother has done a lot of good for us. I think one that's bred on both sides to have some success and another one that should have a red gene back in there. Her grandmother was red so hopefully she's got one tucked away absolutely well.
A
And y' all will be retaining two flushes on that female as well. Just for anybody that's interested in that one. But eight is another tricked out loaded up grizzly. She's a th false pha false. She's a bankroll bull that Petey's talked about before. She's a spring of 2024 and I love tricked out females. Personally. I think their feet and legs have always been great but they've always got the right look. And I just, I mean that heifer's look, presence and flexibility. Been watching her video is really awesome. Another female that y' all will be retaining two flushes on. But what do you think her future looks like?
C
I think that one is awful unique just because she's so smooth, she's so good legged like you said and she's got an awesome look. I just had to own that one's mother. We're actually partners with my now brother in law and Gabe dwellow on her mother.
B
That was one of the most impressive.
C
Cows in Dave's sale in Oklahoma City and just had to own her. I think that's one that works really, really well. Back to something like a red elephant. Honestly, I think you get some tricked out, some red elephant playing together, you could make some gnarly calves. I think that one's very, very high quality.
A
Absolutely. For sure. Then in Lot 9 you got a Psalms Monopoly alias. She is a TH carrier so this one's a little different. She's another spring of 2024 bre female to bankroll of lazy M's. I've never heard of the Psalms bull so talk to me about that bull because that intrigues me and what you think this female future looks like.
C
He's a nice bully. Never sold semen on him or anything. I've got a picture, I need to get it online of him. We just pictured him a good turnout bull. For us. He's a state of mind, unstoppable. Harry Bear, heat wave.
A
Okay.
C
Really good turnout bull. Those tails are always real big haired and real soft and they mirror what she looks like. Awesome, awesome. Fuzz that one there in particular is probably not the punchiest like hipped one in the world. But I think back to a couple of these clean bulls now that are getting to be so punchy and so stout. She's got the fuzz, the mid rib and the look to make them awful nice. Even something like that allegedly boulevards would work back on her awful well.
A
Then in Lot 10 you got a red. You got a red female being offered that I really, really like. Picture wise Burning Man, Fu Manchu, Heat Wave. She is TH Falls. Pha Falls. Have you tested her for DS yet?
C
We haven tested her for ds. I have one that has all the club calf in the world in her pedigree. It's all in. It's all in there. And then for that one to come out clean, I think is awful unique because there is a lot of sauce in her pedigree.
A
Absolutely. What do you think? What do you think club calf bull wise, you think would work with her well? Yep.
C
Not to keep talking about my own stuff, but I think that 7 bullshit or even that back to good bull. I think either one of those two works awfully well to make shorthorns.
A
Absolutely.
C
Just something punch that one up and make them good colored. I think she works awful well to make like southern. Southern shorthorns. And I think she also does a good job. If a guy just wants to go ahead and just make good cattle, I mean, why not try that thing to lichen in God or some of those bulls that are getting hot even. That's right. I honestly think that one's neck set, throat and jar are good enough that that one to. That's right. Could make something pretty sporty and make them a good.
A
Well then in lot 11 you got a Here I Am Fu Manchu unstoppable spring of 2024. She's th falls and pha Falls. She's a to that intrigue bull that we've talked about. What's intriguing is for her to be a Here I Am and be Th Falls I think is really, really sought after. But like stout featured from what I can tell in her picture. Huge legs that move and her neck attachment and look from the side is really neat.
C
Yep, here I am. Cows and food cows have both been good. I had someone ask me the other day what I thought of the Here I Am cows in general. And I just said it like I think it is. I think they're going to be like Heat Wave cows. At one point, you know, when we were raising them, we didn't really necessarily know about Keeping them. But now that guys are keeping some of these. Here I am cows. I think they're awesome. It gives you some more punch and a pedigree to work back on. And like you said, I mean, that one's so dense and stout. Their neck sets so good. There's a lot of cool stuff in that one's pedigree to make show steers better down the road for sure.
A
Absolutely. Even her on like. Like I was gonna say how great. But he goes back to here I am. I would love to see her and how great paired. But anyway, I say swing for the fences.
C
Let's do it. The more the merrier, man. Get it all in.
A
The more the merrier. Well, you got your first. Your white smokey or whatever you want to call it in Lot 12. She's an allegedly white queso torrington. And that white queso bull is actually one of my favorites of yalls I've. But she's a th false pha false spring of 2024. She's bred to the bankroll bull. Why do you all want to offer her? And I'm just going to tack this on her. And Amazing Grace bound to make some awesome calves.
C
That's kind of the route that I thought would really, really work on that one. And honestly, that one, I would love to keep her around as a cow. I would like to promote some of our genetics out there where she's got allegedly in case. So in her pedigree, I want someone to take that one and honestly make my bulls look better. That white queso bull was a gun smoke yellow jacket heat wave that I thought was very, very good. And his females that we've retained have been awesome. They've been awesome legged. They've been awesome uttered awesome look. I really think that someone can take that one and make those bulls of mine look really good down the road for sure.
A
And not to discredit like the way that her ears are set, but this is the Texas coming out in me. I would love to see her paired to like a keep swinging of thick pins to make Americans. Or if golden boy was on the market. He pairs really well with exotic cows. But I think him on that cow would work really well too.
C
That doesn't scare me one bit. It takes all kinds and shapes and sizes.
B
You might as well diversify a little, right?
A
Exactly. Then in lot 13, you have a worth the weight icon duelo 3099. Another bring bread heifer. She's spring of 2024 Pha false and sired to the Intrigue Bull talk to me about what type of cattle would she generate to make the most profit for someone that buys her.
C
I think that that one's another one that's real versatile. Her mother was very, very good as a show heifer. She was always just a little bit too stout to go win the show as a breeding heifer, but always got along in her division. One that we just had to have from dweller again, I think that one does really, really well. Back to like a Here I am. I mean if it scares you with the worth, the weight being a here I am, that's fine too. But I think back to here I am. That one's got the mid rib, the smoothness and the look to do really good things. We also had a litter of data banks out of her mother that were nice. I think we sold two or three of those ones and average just a hair over 11,000 on them. Really nice cattle out of that one. That one's mother to databank. So if you can kind of stay down that same genetic lineage and put a shot of club calf in there, why not try it? Let's put a little bit of fuzz on them and keep them real smooth and good moving.
A
Well, in lot 14 you have a something else. Monopoly hoodoo. She's a quarter main bread heifer or. Yeah, bread heifer. Yeah. Spring of 2024. She's th. False. Ph false. And your AI she's AI to may we all. So with her being a Monopoly hoodoo on the name side, I'm anxious to see what this calf looks like. I mean that calf just me thinking genetic wise, I mean that's gonna be a stout, big hit, big backed one. In my mind I'm a. And that's what I think.
C
But yeah, but it's going to keep them main. And that's something to me that if it comes out with plumbing down south, I think that's something that a guy could keep the seeds in and honestly be like a cleanup or almost canvanese sire 100%. I like that heifer awful well. I think she has some big pieces. I know she's probably. She's probably a shot rod in the build of her mid rib right now. There was something else. Cattle typically carry their calf just a little higher and she's one of those that you can see that calf isn't sitting down that rear third of her body like some of these other ones. But man, I love her look. I love her feet and legs and she's the natural calf out of a D2 cow. So that means her mother was born in 2012. So she's the natural calf out of what at the time would have been an 11 year old cow. And when we preg checked the other week, what would she be now? 13. Coming on 14, she's bred again and still around milk and fine. So there's some longevity built into that one's pedigree, I would say.
A
Well then lot 15. You got another gravy train over here? I am Monopoly. She's a spring of 2024 bread heifer. She is a TH carrier. Y' all call her a cross, which is awesome. And she's also AI to that intrigue bull that we've talked about. For my mind. I mean that looks like a really cool looking big rib, big hip female. That would work really well to something like water to wine if you were trying to make red ones.
C
Yep, absolutely. The thing I like about that one is she's good colored, she's real good looking. And that one got some gas. I mean she's a big bread heifer. She's got a lot of size. I think that can make stuff versatile, you know, to where she can make stuff that state fair size and then make holdovers a little younger. I think the unique thing about her is that one for being a th carrier in all the club kiff and her pedigree, she's got some gas in the tank as far as grill.
A
Absolutely.
B
For sure.
A
Well, in lot 16 you have another red. She's an allegedly Torrington L18. So talk to me about her. Her, her dame what that Torrington L18 is. Because I'd like to know just from my side.
C
So Torrington was a bull that we owned with MLC was a Kevin Ease bull. And he was a simple man. He was a simple man. Northern improvement. Ali total solution, direct hit. There was a lot of generations of Kevin Ease in that bull cage carrier Kevin east bull. But we had a lot of really good cows out of him. I mean they're that bull. The females that we retained, they kind of set us up for success. Just make awesome cows, awesome udders, awesome feet. And then that L18 on the bottom side is a Hereford bull. So we took and a couple of these club calf cows. We'll kick out a Hereford bull every now and then. And we got him from essentially our neighbors the Ochsner's up there north of Torrington. And he is an L18 son. But you find him in the bottom side of some pedigrees like that yellow elephant bull that we own with MLC. That one's mother is an L18 milkman. It'd be the same bull. So I think there's a lot of cool things in that one's pedigree where she's got a shot of Hereford in there, she's got a shot of club calf and yet still comes out red. None of that allegedly bull.
A
Well she's a teenage carrier as well. So I mean like we talked about before, if you're trying to make reds I think there's several red non th carrier bulls out there that work really well. But even with that said I the cows potential on white club calf bulls just making different types of colors I think works really really well.
C
Yeah for sure. Red's red's awful hot nowadays. I think that one's got a lot of fuzz, a lot of look and our build's awesome.
A
Yes sir. Well then lots. Lot 17 is a tricked out loaded up grizzly. Th false and pha false and also bred to that bankroll bull that we've talked about prior. But what I envision out of this cow is pairing her to like a like a how great thou art. I think works really well on this cow but that's just absolutely personally.
B
Yep.
C
No I think Calgreat works awesome and her and the other tricked out on the sale. They're both full sisters. They're actually flushmates to my high selling steer from my fall of 24 sale. That calf went on to be reserve grand at Utah State Fair. And that was always I mean one husky middle big haired one for both of his sisters to come out clean I think is awfully unique and gives those things a lot of mating versatility I'd say on that one just line it up to how great.
A
And so then lot 18 and honestly probably one of my favorites of the sale. Yeah I looked through it quite a bit last night and I'd written down lot 18. She's an in God Harry bear heat wave th carrier red to may we all. She's a spring of 2024. I love this one's look be shape and feet and legs.
C
Absolutely. I think that is one very very high quality animal. And like like I've said on a couple we got a lot of stuff that goes back to that classy cow and she doesn't miss very often. I mean she makes them things out there exotic looking and big haired. I think that one's future as a donor cow is sooner rather than later just because she's got so many out there outstanding pieces.
A
I think the neatest part about her is the way her head's shaped like, like that is just a refined headed neat jawed female for sure.
C
Sarah have one that's like that good jawed and slick underneath yet still be so square between her eyes. I, I think that bodes well for production in the future for sure.
A
Well and then she's also a full sister to Patton's 2020 Fort Worth Reserve exotic steer which y' all y' all offer embryos on or a mating of that nature down later in the sale. But we'll get to that. Lot 19 is a pandemic over that 753 Kelly clone. She's a spring 2024 bread heifer. To may we all. She's a half semi key heifer. Obviously she's th false pha false. But what do you think of her and what do you think semi bull wise would mate well to her?
C
I don't necessarily know if there's gonna be a more unique bread one. I mean that's kind of an off the wall pedigree to put a red baldy semi bull back on a clone To Kelly it's, it's an awful unique pedigree. I think semi bull wise she's something that works. I mean where she's got her edging in there. Why not try to make red ball these semis and just do her back to something like bet on red or something that'll pull out that red gene and make really cool ones. I think that's another one that's so versatile. You can make keys, you can make semis. You can do her to a main bull and make main females to sell. But I'm not so sure that like back to an in God or something like a holy ghost. That one doesn't work well too just because she's so smooth. She has a red gene. You know you're probably going to end up getting something that's yellow and a baldy.
A
Right. Awesome. Awesome.
C
Like a very, a very, very versatile one there and a little younger. She was a true like 1st of May calf. So that one's maturity still hasn't even hit its peak yet. Just as far as stoutness and feature.
A
About as versatile as you can make one for either side of the maternal or club calves for sure.
C
Absolutely.
A
So that was obviously the last live lot of the sale. So now in Lot 20 you're offering an IVF cycle out of yalls Matilda female. What do you, what would you advise to flush to for anyone that is buying this, this IVF cycle.
C
I think apex works awesome. Back on that one, like just showing it. Kansas Beef Expo the other week, both Jared and Ryan in the ring they said it's hard to make one with a better silhouette than that cow. She's so high neck, she's so fresh, she's so good looking and has a really good round rib shape. I think back to a bull like apex or end game. Any of those mains, even a hard feelings type bull, Any of those main bulls that are really just soft and maternal in the build of their mid rim, I think she does everything else as far as look and punch and feature and presence. Guy just keeps that one just soft enough on those chaos and I think you hit a home run for sure.
A
Well then lot 21, you're offering some embryos, obviously. B3, the embryo types, the conventional IVF. And these are going to be that apex bull over 752. What do you think these like? Like give me the background of the calves of this mating if y' all have had them.
C
So we haven't had any yet. We just got those clones last December. So we've had them for about a year now and haven't seen any of those calves yet. But that is amazing that I am plumb excited about 752 is probably the most phenotypically impressive animal I may have ever seen. And that apex bull, those heifers selling, they've been hopped this year. I mean they've been some high neck, good structured, high selling ones. Back on that Kelly pedigree, I think it makes some really, really high end show heifers. And I didn't sex them just in case someone wanted a really nice turnout bull. That cow's got enough punch. I think you could mess around and make a promo bull or AI sire out of that mating as well.
A
100%. Well then you kind of change it up. In lot 22 you offer some Red Elephant 753s, another three of them conventional IVF. But in my mind those are going to be some really, really long necked, high tying, really flexible cattle.
C
Absolutely. And another one that I didn't sex them because I think the steer calves or the bull calves, I think those ones have a lot of value. Just as stout, featured and smooth this red elephant is and how good tying he is back on that Kelly pedigree. But I think the females to keep around could be incredible. You throw a red gene in the Kelly pedigree and I think it opens up up so many avenues just to what you can do with them.
A
Absolutely. Well then lot 23, you kind of change it up a little and you do an ain't bluffing over 753. Obviously these will be kind of like some main keys three embryos. But what do you think that cattle wise will come out and look like.
C
Another mating that I was swinging for the fences on. You know that Kelly pedigree to maternal maid means really no, not much introduction. So why not use a, a, a maternal maid son that's got a lot.
B
Of look, you've got a lot of.
C
Stoutness and a lot of presence. I just envision that flush making some awesome cows for some really high selling bread heifers. And they may be a little too punchy to be show heifers, but man, I think for a clean pedigree you could make some awesome donor type cows out of that deal.
A
Well, in the lot 24 you're talking about maternal maid. You have maternal made 751s right here. And so obviously you y' all say you know, this is a pedigree that works. Why stray away from it? So what type of cattle have has this mating produced and what's been the success behind it?
C
So those would be full sibs in blood to like the lot one donor cow, the RCC one cow. A lot of those maternal maid Kelly's that have been raising these high end showsteres, there would be full sibs and blood to all of those. I think Levi's Warren on his sale had a couple maternal mate. He sold choice of half of one of three maternal maid Kelly's as calves and they bring 41,000 for half interest. They'd be full sibs to the high selling cow from share of the brand last year. A pedigree that really works. It has a lot of genetic value down the road. Really excited about those to get some of those on the ground. I have some coming there 1st of February and I think if you're someone looking maybe for even like a show heifer, they would be maternal sibs to a $245,000 heifer that sold last December in Stillwater. So I think there's a still a chance that those things go and show very very well.
A
Well then you have in Lot 25 another embryo mating that is out of the same cow, which is 751but different sire. No hard feelings. These will be like mane and keys from what PD explains. Talk to me about the backing. Have y' all had progeny out of this mating yet?
C
We have it. The first ones will hit the ground here in February. But we own those clones to Kelly with Ryman Ranches. And that's something that Barry really really thought would work. Him and John decided that no hard feelings was kind of the new wave of a bull to do those things too. And seeing some of those calves, it's got me really pumped up because they're so soft middled and good haired. I think that's a mating that produces a really, really high end show effort down the road.
A
Well then in Lot 26 you'll kind of change it up and it's something else over Gucci. And these would be main key types of cattle. There's going to be three of them. Obviously they're conventional ivf. Talk to me about this something else bull because I'd never really heard or seen that bull.
C
So something else is a get you some ali uchi strictly business. He's a th and pha clean sib to a bunch of heifers that Paige showed bull that we own with Griswold. He unfortunately died when he was 3. So we didn't quite get those get that semen out there as far as we would have liked to. But that one's raised a sellers especially down south. He sold some really, really good shearing steers because they're so high necked and square muscled in that pedigree. We've had several of them. The steers have sold well but the females I've kept around have been incredible. They've been ones that are just so high tying and so good middle. That cow's an impressive specimen with just her amount of fuzz and softness and midrib. I think that mating works really well. And I can get away with selling three of them because I've still got 17 in the tank. That cow flushes like gangb. So I might as well let someone.
B
Else have a few of them.
A
Well with that said lot 27 you gotta that cockadoodle do over Versace and that bull himself. I've loved the bull. I think he's awesome. I think he's a game changer. But him paired over Versace I think is going to make some really, really awesome cattle.
B
I agree.
C
That count so fat legged and big haired. That's the best market effort I think my brother ever showed. He really, really phenotypically impressive cow. I don't exactly know what color that mating is going to come out. I'll tell you about the second week of February when the first ones hit the ground. But I've been hearing rumors that bull can have some shorthorns and it can have Hereford colored ones. If that mating comes out and they make shorthorn colored ones, I think they gain a lot of value really, really quickly.
A
100%. But in all reality, lot 28, the king of kings over Versace might be my favorite. Mating over her, I think.
C
Oh, I think that's gnarly.
A
I think those are going to be like just huge ankled, really flexible, big backed ones. The way you're describing Versace.
C
Yep, absolutely. And something to shorten up her back a little and chub up that one's mid rib. I, I think that king of kings mating works awesome. And so that one Versace would be the mother to the reserve red steer at Dallas last year.
B
Yep, last year.
C
And that calf was a knock knock.
A
Lot 29 is a get you some over what y' all call as XO33. So these are going to be reverse sort mail, correct?
B
Yep, reverse sort mail.
A
Awesome. Okay, this has been a full sib to Cooper Cummins, Kansas Classic champion. And then what y' all say is Paige's last Denver steer. So talk to me about that, that mating.
C
So that mating has been potent. Them are some chubby middle high neck, good looking, fuzzy ones. And they're a little older. Like they may. I think those ones were kind of March calves, but still kind of slid into that holdover category. Category. They're not ones that probably just have the most gas in the tank, but I think they're very high quality show steers. That last Denver steer pages is kind of a funny story. Wade Rogers sold that calf for a lot. It was north of 80 and just to find out the boy that bought him had aged out of Denver and he didn't realize it. So instead of reselling him, he said, well, heck, we'll just let your sister show him. So that's kind of how Paige got that steer. But that's a, a high selling, very, very high quality mating. Some of the traders that I really respect and like cattle like I do have been through and I think everyone's tried about one of them and it always seems like they get along at some point in their show career.
A
Well, in lot 30 you have some maternal sibs to Patton's reserve champion exotic steer back in 2020. But these are going to be paired with red elephant. I mean, if I can envision what that calf looked like, I would say that these are going to be some really good slicking calves.
C
Well, absolutely. Actually fed one of those a couple years back. A calf that was so out there. I mean that calf was on the edges everywhere. Like out in the corners of his skeleton. I necked huge back the thing. That cow's got a really hot red gene so they'll be painted up red and white. I've got a calf. I don't exactly know when I'm going to have my holdover sale yet but there's a red elephant classy in that set that I think will make guys head spin down south.
A
Well then lot 31 same thing. These will be maternal sibs to to Patton's reserve champion. Exotic. But these are going to be over here I am. And I think those are going to be some big haired, big feet and leg.
C
Absolutely. That's a mating that is going to be out there. We've seen a couple of those ones and they are the biggest legged square shaped ones you can ever see. Really intriguing kind of a combo there where you've got that mane and that hairy bear on the cow side. I think the here I am could be awful good.
A
Lot 32 and 33 you have some offerings on yalls 81 the cow. One being on cockadoodle do and one being on y7 bull. So talk to me about the differences between the two matings and what you think they can offer.
C
I think that they both probably make short horns. I just had to have that cow or have half that cow out of share of the brand this year. Phenotypically I'm in love with that animal and she's done a lot of really good things as far as selling in God and red elephant cams. We actually did her to king of kings too. I think that could be gnarly. But the seven mating that's actually dirty on dirty and the cockadoodle deuce would be clean on dirty. I think if you're swinging for the fe and sevens I mean make incredible short horn steers whether you're sharing them or keeping them haired. I think Cockadoodle do is a mating that just intrigues me knowing that he can have a couple of short horns just to keep that one so smooth, so elevated and so good right at the surface.
A
And then why did you decide to do it a 7 also so since.
C
She had those red elephants, those calves.
B
Were very, very nice.
C
They were soft metal, square shaped and high cell. And I'd have to ask Jay and Wyatt what they averaged on those red elephants. I don't exactly know but just knowing how red elephant breeds back to seven, I knew it'd work Just because that bull is so boxy and Short backed and square, them things will come out built like salt blocks and colored like shorthorns.
A
Well then, just for anybody that's aware, it says in the comments, but that's going to be a th on th. So buyer beware for sure.
C
Yeah, buy, buy. Buyer beware. But she's not exactly the hottest blooded one in the world. I. I think you should be okay. Hopefully.
A
Right, right. Well then, Lot 34, y' all have some full sibs to sign. I guess a calf y' all called waffles?
B
Yep.
A
Okay.
C
Talk about that really good calf that wasn't. Here I am. His ricky calf crop back in 2017. I mean, rookie or second year, one of the two. One of the most phenotypically impressive steers that we've ever sold, Wade Rogers comes out and buys them and resells into the Jones family in Ohio. To my knowledge, he's the last steer to win Ohio Beef Expo and Ohio State Fair in the same year. But a calf that was so big footed and smooth and so good looking. And the thing that I like the most about that mating is that calf was a mid March. He had the gas in the tank and the maturity to still go get it done at a Midwest state fair. I think that's awfully unique and honestly, kind of rare nowadays.
A
Well then lot 35 have what it seems full sibs to the yellow elephant, Correct?
C
Absolutely. And those things have come out kind of a multitude of colors. Yellow elephants, a yellow baldy, obviously, but. But I've had Herefords out of that pedigree too. They pull enough of that Hereford color from that L18, you can make class in Herefords. The last one I had I sent to Florida actually. His feather was a little long and he had a little too much white to class in Texas, so we sent him to Florida. And that calf hung a lot of banners down there in the Hereford division.
A
Well then lot 36, you have some reverse sorted males and It'd be that seven over age 50. How is that one? Go back to that calf that was showing there in that picture at junior nationals. Because that cast, I actually remember seeing that one. And remember that one is the first year I ever went to a. To a battle of the cattle.
C
Yep. So another cow that came from the Hearst outfit when we bought all those ones down there and shipped her up from Canyon. That's why I don't have a picture of her yet. But that's a full sister to that steer.
A
Okay. Okay.
C
And she is th clean pha carrier DS clean. So I figured Heck, we might as well throw a TH bull and DS bull owner and go ahead and just try to swing for the fences and make them triple dirty.
A
Absolutely. For sure.
C
I think, I think a pedigree that'll really work. That cow is really, really impressive in person. And that seven bull back on her. I don't necessarily think it'll make shorthorns, but I just think that they will be some high quality animals.
A
Well Then in Lot 37 from Reddit reads, these are gonna be full sibs to quality counts, correct?
C
Yep, yep. And that's a little older. Little older. Kind of a pedigree there, but a pedigree that had a lot of good for us. That quality council made so many cows that are prevalent in our herd. And the females kept back. Awesome. And we even sold some show steers out of that mating that were good. I've still got. I made those embryos conventionally. It had been a while back and I've still got 30 couple of them in the tank, so somebody might as well try to use them and make a promo sire as well.
A
Well, with all this said, we went through all of it and the sale happens on the 27th and I'm grateful for the opportunity. It all happens on SC online sales. We're obviously gonna post where the link is and everything of that nature. Paul's info is on there as well as his mom's as well. We're very, very excited of what's to come. Loved going through all of it. The cattle are always great. PD's been great to me, so I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to be able to represent them. Them.
C
Yep. But I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to finally get with you and finally talk about some cattle. Enjoy talking with you and working with you. And I think the unique thing is it's hard for me to sit down when I write sale comments and get all this information in there. It's just not necessarily doable for me. So thanks for the opportunity to talk a little more in depth about these cattle and give people really the ins and outs of what they can do if they can't make it out here or give me a call.
A
Absolutely. For sure. With all this said, it happens on the 27th. The link or I mean, this preview will be posted the morning of Monday, the 20s or yeah, Monday of the 22nd. So everybody, if y' all are interested in any of the lots, be able to know that if you have any questions, you can always reach out to Paul. He's willing to answer any and all. So with that said, thank you all for tuning in. This is what it's all about, empowerments here. Thank y'. All.
C
