All right, so we kind of ventured out into a new area. I've never done a preview for someone out there in Florida, but I'm real excited because the quality is incredible. We get to represent Mr. Broughton Martin there in Oxford, Florida. He's got an incredibly deep set of cattle there to offer. You can find it on Steer bidder on the 15th coming up. Obviously Broughton's on here with me as well as Clayton. So after. What I'd like to know is kind of what the objective is for Martin Cattle Co out there in Florida. A little bit about yourself and then after that we'll go through the lots.
B
Yeah, absolutely. I appreciate you having me, Weston. And I've actually been listening to the show for quite a while and never thought I'd have the opportunity to come on. But yeah, definitely. My name is Broughton Martin. I'm from Oxford, Florida. Like you said, me and my family own and operate Martin Cattle Company. My dad Craig, my wife Lacey and our six year old. And I would say that we focus on mainly selling show steers, whether that's raising them or buying and selling them. And we try to offer some high quality show heifers as well.
C
Yeah, what an incredible opportunity for, for Broughton and his family and the Empower U platform we have here. Being able to, to get these guys on and just visit and, and bring you guys some thoughts on an incredible set selling on steer bidder the 15th. Really appreciate Broughton and his family joining on and jumping in on the Empower U movement. Uh, look forward to discussing all these great cattle with, with him and Weston.
A
Today we start off the sale with lot one. This will be a new world order over Dakota Gold female. In my mind, that's an extremely long neck, real proportional steer that's got the shag to really give a go. Whether it's obviously anywhere from Fort Worth to being a slicking calf. Derek Houston or Austin. I think he's extremely dual purpose. Has a really, really nice hind leg that's really soft at the surface. I'd like to know your thoughts and what you think his best end point is and maybe the story on him.
B
Yeah, I completely agree with you. I've actually been to Fort Worth a few times and I think that that's kind of a Fort Worth calf in my opinion. You know, I, I tend to lean on rogers and horn bulls when I go picking out show calves or breeding cattle, but I sure think that NWO does work on some things and definitely tied to, tied to plenty of those calves pretty hard lately. But yeah, I think that Calf's got awesome feet and legs and definitely the, the big, big hairs.
C
Yeah. Both you guys reading the same way I do. Just, just incredible presence and that new world order in his early on in his career has really stamped what he can provide. And this one's no different. Just lots of balance presence just incredibly sound on his feet and legs. I'm like you guys, I see this thing being a high end Fort Worth one and could even stretch to the guys in Oklahoma for an oye one.
A
Completely agree. Well lot two's next. This will be a. That's right, Monopoly. Obviously you stated before you heavily utilize hornbulls there and I think this is a perfect representation of what they shoot to to make. This thing reads to be an awesome slick steer. In my mind I think he's perfect built, perfect shape for San Anton size. I think that his feet and legs and his flexibility at the surface could definitely be highlighted there on the turf. I don't know your thoughts. I think his hair's really, really nice as well. For someone to have fun over the summer and fall. In my mind I think just in terms of his rib shape and shape up high, especially from behind that really needs to be exhibited at a slick show. I don't know your thoughts but would love to hear it.
B
Yeah, completely agree. I just love that calf's body and rib. Awesome feet and legs, just really square built all the way through. Just love how that calf proportions through through his neck and down into his chest floor.
C
Yeah, the, the. The horn bulls need no, no recognition. They, they have certainly stamped the industry and and here's another prime example of that. And I'm, I'm a big fan of Monopoly on the cow side and I think this thing is a great representation of that very dual purpose. Just another one that's just awesome on his feet and legs, lots of rib shape, big ended big back, good looking one that you can can really give yourself plenty of options when you own this one for sure.
A
Well, lot three will be next. This will be the first heifer of the offering. She's a three quarter Simmental. She's a next level over an executive order. Ditto cow. In my mind. I don't think it gets as much of a brood cow statement as, as her. I mean in my mind that's a really stout footed big footed female for especially a Simmental and she still comes with an exceptional rib cage and her ratio from full rib back to her flank is awesome. I read this one to be extremely, extremely be able to be utilized down the Road for sure. What's your thoughts, Broughton?
B
Yeah, 100%. She's actually one of the two breeding heifers we're offering and I think this one's incredibly good. Her depth aside and overall balance is awesome and still sets down with a
C
great foot and leg the times right now. Spring is usually big on steers, but Broughton brings an incredible female opportunity here that, that I think has some show ring presence, but I think she's going to stay her mark and make her mark out there in the pasture, whether it's raising show females or, or club calf steers. An incredible opportunity it looks like here. That gives you plenty and plenty options to make your money down the road.
A
Well, lot four will be next. This will be a How great thou art crimson tide. To be honest, this one's hair quality is extremely good. I think this calf there at Denver as a potential middleweight would be extremely incredible in terms of how the lighting looks in that ring, the way those gold calves stood out there, especially with what the judges have said previously to me, especially on the post game as well. But I think he's an. If he ends up in Texas, this calf's a tremendous, tremendous middle to heavyweight. There's as well. What are your thoughts, Broughton?
B
Yeah, I completely agree with you. I had the opportunity to go to Denver this year and like I say, I would completely agree that he'd look awesome at Denver. The hair quality is just outstanding. I don't think the video does this calf justice. I mean he is so green, so, so green and, and, and the foot and bone is just incredible on him. The front 1/3 presence is second to none and I mean I, I think you pour the coals of that one and you have something really special on your hands.
C
I definitely agree on both you guys sentiment. This, this calf I think end point could be anywhere from Denver to, to even Hawaii. And the foot and leg is just something and the presence is just something that, that Mr. Ward really tied into at Fort Worth and hair coat balance look, man, this thing could be fun wherever you decided to take him.
A
Well, lot five is going to be next. This can be a one oak over a man amongst boys 16, one cow and honestly, I think this one's extremely unique for his type and kind. For one, I love his proportionality, but I love the way his, his long neck ties in the top side of his shoulder and he's still a level made flexible steer. But to couple that with that amount of rib shape and mass up high I think is extremely sought after for the Texas Slickshire and majors. I think this calf's got a lot of upside going to San Antonio through Austin there in Texas. What are Yalls thoughts and Broughton maybe what's the story on him?
B
Yeah we actually decided to shear that one. He had a couple rub spots on him so we shot our hand at a Texas quarter there and yeah I just think that was incredibly good. Just super cracked open and when you get on top of them that that's one I would call just hard to pick on. We actually are showing a full brother to that one and KAF has already won the prost or won a class in in Louisville as a prospect.
C
So 1 I would agree 1 I would agree with you guys on too. Just extremely fault free balance. Look feet, legs just bold rib big ended big backed scoots around there. Just lots of options again for for any of them slick sheer shows here in Texas. It looks like the hair coat that he has could probably be good enough if you decided to take him to a hair show as well.
A
Lot 6 will be next. This will be another heifer that you have to offer. She's a how great thou art I 80 really dense haired, really bold rib female that's big hipped and has an awesome hind leg that's very flexible at the surface. I think this one in terms of the future can make some awesome club calves. I don't know what she's like in terms of genetic defects. If you tested her yet or not. I would go out and say this one's probably th but obviously that's not listed. Or maybe you have some of that info brought in. But I think there's plenty of bulls in terms of red and white delight or Water to Wine or anything of that nature that she could really really work to.
B
Yeah, I probably wouldn't have to go far out on a limb to say that she's probably th for sure but definitely a market heifer donor prospect for sure. Just love that one's body and rib and just a ton of dimension. Overall I definitely think that somebody's going to have them a real donor on their hands if they get a hold of her.
C
Yeah, both these heifers you you guys have made available just just gives the the the people purchasing an opportunity to recruit recruit money quickly. The these things are built to go out there and the donor pen and be extreme extre from very on. Just just ultra powerful. Good looking again just gives you a ton of options.
A
Lot 7 will be next. This will be another heifer prospect that y' all have to offer she is another how great thou art on a cow y' all call 6261, which would be an in God we trust over the ATL620. So Hornbred on the bottom side and comes out of an extremely high quality bull that needs no introduction. In my mind, she's just as good haired. She reads to be a little bit more moderate in her type and kind, but I don't think that works her demise. I think that actually helps her out quite a bit because she reads to be short back but big hipped, has an awesome hind leg. In my mind again, I think this one you could go out and say she's th and there's plenty of bulls that aren't th that she could work to extremely well. What are your thoughts, Broughton?
B
Yeah, 100% agree. This is actually a full sib. Would be full sib to Floyd's class 11 11th steer at Fort Worth and then also the Rogers family reserve champion in Iowa. Yeah, I mean, I think that breeding just needs no introduction. I could go on and on about her, but she's extremely high tying with the world of presence and obviously going to make somebody a great donor.
A
She replicates that steer quite a bit.
C
She does. She, she is, in my opinion, a carbon copy of that steer. And you, you talk about one that just had commanded your eye when he walked in the ring. And I think this one does too. When you, when you latch on and view her video. Whether you want to raise American show steers or you want to raise club calf steers or you want to raise percentage females, this thing right here can do it. Boy, she sure is nice.
A
Lot 8 is the next steer that you got to offer and he's a magic Mike over solid gold cow and it doesn't probably get any better than in terms of slick shearing calves. In my mind, he reads to be like again, sensibly sized, easy feeding steer that's got an extremely bold rib cage and an awesome back shape to him. But I think what's even better is he complements that with just the same amount of foot size and bone. This steer's got an awesome hair coat on him. In terms of what's there to offer, I think that he's extremely good and needs to be highlighted, especially his, his flexibility at the surface and the size to his foot and the shape of it there at San Antonio as well. What are your thoughts?
B
Yeah, another great sheer one and that one's got great body, great shape and awesome set of runners. I mean, y' all Would just have to tell me, you know, what that thing with class has. I'm not entirely sure, but surely something.
C
Yeah. I'm not a classifier myself, but it doesn't really matter in my opinion when it comes to this calf. I'm not one that's good at hiding my cards. I like this one an awful lot and I don't care if it's a semi or a Red Cross or an AOC things. High quality feet and legs, balance, rib shape, muscle shape. Just a real, real high quality animal in my opinion, that I like an awful lot.
A
I completely agree. Lot 9 is next. This is gonna be a get you some believe in me. This thing works in all sorts of facets. I think if you get him heavy enough, he could definitely have a good run there at Houston or Austin. Obviously he reads to be a little greener compared to his contemporaries, but that's a really sound, structured steer that's extremely proportional level in his lines and has awesome symmetry. I love his chest floor and how it draws back to a deeper flank. Again. He also reads have an awesome hair coat. So I think if someone got him there in Oklahoma and decided to run him at oie, he could definitely be in contention out there for sure.
B
Yeah, these. These nice couple odds are some younger, greener ones and I really like this calf. Just hard to pick on. Love his presence, feet and legs and just overall balance.
C
Yeah, I would agree. Just. Just a calf that. That's hard to to pick a hole in. Just super complete shot on the greener side compared to some of the above. Lots of but one that's just got a lot of balance, good feet and legs. Just needs a little time and feed bucket and somebody to love on him.
A
Lot 10 is next. This can be a heifer that y' all got up to offer. She's a 38 semi. She's a good times on a Fort Knox female. Again, probably on the greener side compared to some but I don't take think it takes away from her quality because that's an extremely good built female. Just the angle to her shoulder, the levelness of her hip and the utilization of her hind leg. And still to be that green. She's got an awesome underlined Just reads extremely maternal especially in the terms of the. The shape to her head, the top side of her neck and how long and thin it is. And just talk to me about her what your thoughts are as well. Yeah.
B
Low percent semi that we didn't originally plan on putting in the sale, but man, I'm glad We did. That thing just gets better and better every day. Great rib shape and awesome maternal sweep. Their belly. Definitely a little kid friendly one for sure.
A
Yeah, for sure.
C
Times that. Good times. Bulls working. And I think he definitely. I worked here. One that's probably not as far along as the other three heifers in the sale, but just an incredible show ring presence. Maternal book. Another one that gives you a ton of options down the road as far as a breeding piece and in the show ring as well. So awesome, awesome built heifer that looks like she has a bright Future.
A
So lot 11 is next. This will be a maternal maid broker on an Angus cow. This one is pulled. I think that in terms of his hair coat, he's a great Angus prospect in terms of being a lightweight or potential middleweight there at Fort Worth. But if you didn't want to take him there, I think that he'd be a perfect middle or heavy there at Oye. But also in. In terms of that just his angularity and his balance from the side is intriguing. But I love his feet and legs. I think that this calf definitely classifies in terms of here in Texas, his head shape and the way his ears are set in terms of his foot and bone, I think this calf's an awesome contender here in Texas for sure in terms of Angus breeds.
B
Yeah, this is another one we honestly didn't plan on putting in the sale, but thought the genetics were just too good to offer. Calf's actually a full sib to get as it gets and just thought he's really fault free and you could pour the coals to him and watch him go.
C
Yeah, I share the same sentiment as Weston. When I saw this calf, I just think this thing is built to be a Texas Angus. Whether it's at Fort Worth, Angelo, San Antonio and Houston Austin. Just incredibly built, awesome feet and legs. Great on his angles from his hawk to the ground. Great looking ear set right head shaped right. One that you got to get excited about when thinking about the Angus breed, in my opinion.
A
Percent Lot 12's next. This will be a. How great thou art on the Mercedes Benz cow. Extremely dense haired, has a long neck that ties the top side of his shoulder. Has an awesome squishy big back leg on him. I think this one is incredible as a lightweight there at Fort Worth. Obviously he's a little greener compared to some. So I think that trying him out as a lightweight there at Fort Worth is really good. But I also think that if you didn't do that and there was someone in Oklahoma that Wanted him. I think that he'd be an extremely good calf for Oye. But also with that said, he reads to have awesome shape up high and a wide pin set. So if someone thought about slicking him, I wouldn't beg to differ either.
B
Yeah, I completely agree with you. I mean honestly, I'd like to see that calf go to a hair show that the hair quality just too good. I mean that's another stout one that's a really green, great set of runners and for the feed.
C
Yeah, I agree with you guys. The calf's bred incredibly good. Just looks to be a little bit on the green side today, but one that you just feed that thing and give him the love that he needs and he's just made really, really good. Another one with just lots of presence, feet and legs, mobility, just everything that that calf gives you. I think he, his future is one that could be very bright from Fort Worth all the way to Hawaii.
A
Yeah, a lot of variety of end points for sure. Well, 13 is next. This will be a water to wine on a red American. I don't really think it gets any better in terms of American prospects just due to the fact that there's not many that have this type of hair quality. And it's intriguing, especially you being out there in Florida. I don't know how hard it is to grow hair out there. But this said it looks to be extremely easy to be honest because this one's got the awesome hair quality. But that's not his only attribute either just in terms of just how stout footed he is and big boned and replicates that up high in terms of his body shape and rib cage especially shape up high. I think this thing is incredible for to be a light or middleweight there at Fort Worth, depending on what area of Texas he gets in. But I also believe that this calf is incredible as a slicking steer. I think at San Antonio, Houston, this thing there in the possible sim bras. I'm not quite sure in terms of his markings where he could end up, but I think this calf is extremely good no matter what American breed he ends up in at the slick show. But I think he's an awesome haired calf that a lot of people can have fun with over the summer and fall. And I think he's an awesome breed steer for sure. What are yalls thoughts, Broughton?
B
Yeah, he's actually the first American that we've ever offered down here and but, but you said it, the hair quality is awesome on that thing. It's, it's incredibly hard to Keep hair on these things, that's for sure. And he's done it in spades for sure. And just love that calf's body and how he carries it all the way through his flank. And that's another one. That's that a little kick it tattoo really quick for sure.
C
Big fan of this calf as well and looks to. Looks to be and read as an. As an easy feeding one regardless of location on where he goes. But I think that thing is built for Fort Worth from. From look, balance, hair quality, color, feet and legs. I think this thing could be a high quality Fort Worth American and 26 next year or 27 next year.
A
Well, the last lot to round out the sale is 14 and this is a here I am Irish whiskey. I think this one screams fat, slick steer there in Houston. In my mind. I think this steer is extremely good built for the chips. I think in terms of his presence, he'll stand out, especially with the chrome. I think this calf is extremely good built. I think his hind leg is incredible. I think his body shape and mass up high is something to be extremely sought after. What are your thoughts, Broughton?
B
Yeah, that one's kind of been. Been a crowd favorite since pictures came out and, and I agree. I get pumped for a. For a good chromed up one and I like that one a lot. Gotta love his shape for sure up high. Super cracked open all the way through and great rib shape. Killer fronted and just love that calf.
C
What a great way to end the sale for you guys. In my opinion, just, just an ultra, ultra good calf that another one like the rest of these calves in the sale, just gives you plenty of options from. From Fort Worth to Hawaii that mating has worked really good. As far as the dam on the. On here I am bull. Another one here. Just awesome look. Balance, feet and legs, lots of shape. Whether it's muscle shape, body shape, just a great, great way to end y' all sale. Another high quality individual for.
A
Well, that wraps up the sale and obviously it's a really deep, high quality one with a lot of variations in terms of types and kind and where they can land. Broughton, is there any extra comments that you'd like to add onto the sale or anything you'd like to point out before we wrap it up?
B
I don't think so. I mean, like I said before, I just appreciate you having me on.
C
Well, what a good. We thank you and appreciate you and, and your family for coming on and visiting with us about the cattle and allowing us to help promote these things. I'll go ahead and share a sentiment you posted on every one of these. Cal, don't let the distance in the trucking hinder you from tying in and digging in on one of these things. We'll obviously do everything we can to help get them things to Texas or Oklahoma or wherever they need to go. But a high quality set and one that you guys should be certainly proud of. So thank you for coming on.
A
For sure.
B
Thank you.
A
With that said, you can find it on Steer Bidder. It happens on the 15th for Mr. Broughton's numbers found on there as well as Lacy and Craig. So I'm sure they'd love to answer the phone with you and talk to you about anything that you really have questions about. But in my mind I hope that we answered everything in terms of anybody that is interested in any particular lot. So with that said, very grateful that we're able to get you on and talk about your cattle. Extremely excited to see how they end up and where they go and how they do. For sure. So empowerment's here.
