All right. We have another preview with someone new that I'm very, very excited to represent there at McFarland Show Cattle. Mr. Raleigh decided to allow us to represent him. You can find a sale on steer bidder there and it happens all on the 5th of March. We're very excited to go through all the lots with him. There's a lot of quality in this sale that goes back to a lot of successful stuff as well. So Mr. Raleigh, I'd like you to introduce yourself proudly what the primary goal is there at, at your operation. Then after that we'll go through all the lots.
B
You bet. Well, I'm glad to be on with you. Like what? Like what you're doing and the platform that it gives us and the ability to, to talk through some of these calves with, with our customers. I think it's going to make a big difference. So we do like that and appreciate you. Yeah. I'm Brawley McFarland. My wife Megan and my son Teague and my daughter Madeline. We run a club calf operation in, in North Texas. That's what we do 24 7. We're ate up with it. We love it and we're, we're really dedicated to trying to make elite show steers. So that's, that's where we're, that's where we're at and look forward to tying in with some, with some new customers and appreciate the ones that we do got already.
A
Well, this, this set's really deep and I think to start off with lot one is definitely eye appealing to anybody that clicks the link. Obviously this one be a how great thou art over whitey. Which would be a maternal S to the steer that won Denver back in 2024. In my mind. This one's a great char or aoc. This one has awesome hair. His feet and legs are incredible. He's very flexible at the surface. I think this one at a haired show, whether at Denver or Fort Worth, he's in extreme contention. What do you think?
B
I totally agree. This calf, this is why we tied into Whitey. This calf's unbelievable. And I think he's just as strong as a slicking one as a hair one like this one's true. Gonna be under the hair. Which I think at this point in time, as deep as. As the cattle industries got is what most of those top elite ones have under that hair. Then he does it naturally and he's got the presence to boot. So yeah, I can't say. I can't say enough good things. But I do think this calf Works anywhere from Denver to Houston. And, and I never want to make too many promises, but I, I will tell you that I do look forward to hearing what this calf gets done because I, I think he's a, I don't think he's contender. I think he's a real contender for a show in the right hands. So.
A
Yes, sir. Yeah. Well, lot two would be next and this would be a golden ticket out of yalls 2025 female, which is a 1oak over an in God. This calf in my mind is extremely dual purpose. His profile is the most intriguing, but I think to go along with that, his hair quality alongside with the flexible hind leg and the way he utilizes it. But I love his back shape and to me I think that he's in the same scenario as Lot 1 as being extremely dual purpose anywhere from Denver, Fort Worth all the way to, all the way to probably San Antonio, Houston.
B
Yeah, that's, that's, that's where I see him as well. And you get in behind this one and for him to be as wide as he is and, and just have those pieces that he's got, it's hard to get one and make one that can move like this steer does. That's built the way that he is and on top of it you could, a five year old could show this calf. He is so doggone gentle, but still has the presence about him. Like I was a little concerned going online video with him that he was just going to drop his head because he's so darn gentle. But, but he pictured decent and, but he's super elite. Could have been, definitely could have been lot one. Obviously we only get to do one lot one, but, but he's in there and this is, this is what we are striving to make here. And we're as excited about 2025 as any cow that, that we got. And she, she seems to do it most of the time. We've used her on how great thou art, but I've got a few golden tickets on here and I do like what I see. So we'll, we'll be, we'll be putting in some more of these for sure.
A
Lot 3 will be next and this will be a How gray out how great thou art whitey. In my mind, this one's also another maternal sid to the champion there at Denver back in 2024. This one's really dense haired. This one's extremely burly. In my mind, big ribbed, big hipped, reads to be a little moderate and I think that's completely okay. I think he's a short back steer that's extremely good. And he used his hind leg as well also. Just in my mind, a little dual purpose as well. I think he's got the right shape to be a slick in one, but I think his hair quality is absolutely phenomenal.
B
Yeah, he's got, he's got the soft hair and he is dual purpose. So the good thing is, is all of our hair shows are down here or for the most part you can go in that way. And that's, that's where I, that's where I vision him and I hope that he, whoever buys them doesn't have to take him to another one after that. But he definitely does work slick and, and balances up nice. Yeah, this is, this, is this how great. Tawaite is really working for us. And so we're going to, like I said, we're going to continue to, to put those in. But, but he moves good and, and soft middle, cool necked, got a good attitude, I think. I think whoever gets this one's going to really enjoy their year because he's going to be fun to jackpot all year too with the hair that he's got.
A
Well then Lot 4 is next and this one's going to be a size matter over tag one, which is a full sister to knock knock. This one in my mind isn't the craziest hair, but I think he's a better slick more so. This calf's build is incredible. I think that needs to be highlighted there on the turf or the green chips. And so just talk to me about where you think he needs to be 12 o' clock and where you think he'll end up.
B
San Antonio through Houston. And, and I, and I think you can feed this calf. He's obviously green right now, but with his neck and how sound he is, you can, you can feed on this and come, come 12 o'. Clock. I think this is. You hear so many people talk about they, they like to see him green. Here you go. This is one of them and he's going to be able to take it and he is a slicking one. So I think you, he can take the feed, you can pour it to him, puts work some metal on him. He's just at a funny stage right now. I see this one as being a very good deal for somebody that they're going to call me back next year and be like, hey, do you got any more of those? Because at the end this one's going to stay right and he's not going to be anything that overwhelms anybody right now at this point in time. But a lot of times those steers don't actually turn out when they hit the ground and they're, they're just too much too fast and their, their body can't, their structure can't take it. I think this one takes it and I think he'll have the look come the end.
A
Lot 5 will be next. This will be a take me to church out of your Christmas female, which is a Huston 208 in God we Trust. Talk to me about where you think he needs to end up. I feel as if he's a little contrasting to the steer that we just talk about a little earlier in his maturity pattern. I think he's a great state fair prospect in terms of being an AOC or something of that nature.
B
Yeah, I would like, I would like to see this calf go to Dallas or. Yeah, to Dallas for sure. And I suppose he probably could work for a state fair calf up north, but I, I see him Dallas and, and you probably, probably be around a mid middleweight there and if that don't work then, then you can, then you can roll them into our spring majors down here in Texas. But yeah, with our Christmas Christmas donor came from Mike Houston and out of the famous, his famous 208 cow and, and man she, she is incredibly built, awesome legged, kind of of a boxier made type thing. We had a calf just like this that we won heavyweight, the heaviest heavyweight class at Dallas two years ago. That would be a. And they are, they're spitting images of each other. So yeah, this, this one, this won't be a fun calf for somebody and he's got, he's got the legs and stuff that, that it takes to win nowadays. So I think that when whenever you show up, just as just his walk alone is gonna be pretty eye catching, he's gonna add some just knowing that mating and seeing that calf, there's gonna be some true muscle in that calf to that'll that'll make him work as a slicking one at the end.
A
Well, lot six will be next and this will be an in God We Trust whitey. This one is a full sid to the steer that wood Denver back in 2024. He is not the greatest haired one, but I think in the right home you could get that back on its. On its game. And on top of that though, I think his shape over the top side and especially from behind reads to be an awesome slicking calf as well. I think Anywhere from Fort Worth onto Houston. I think he works extremely well.
B
Yeah, it's been, I guess everybody knows it's been a rough winter. As far as hair goes, this one had the hair and, and soft hair. So he, he definitely will work for Fort Worth and they'll be happy. Come, come, come. Fat calf time. But he does, he does work slick. I don't know that this calf, I was a little disappointed in how he pictured because I think this, I think this calf is better than what he looked like in his videos. I know he look is better than what he looks like in his videos, but this is, this is a high quality calf. Like I said, we'll have the hair and, and those genetics, they work. And I've seen this calf from the get go of see him born and, and wish. Wish the timing was a little different and the winner was a little different as far as the hair goes, but this is, this is a quality calf.
A
Well, lot seven will be next. And this will be a man amongst boys. Out of the female you own with Prince that you all call 1776. She's a Jake's proud jazz over a heat wave. This one in my mind is an awesome shorthorn prospect. He's extremely hairy. So I think Fort Worth would be neat as well as I think he's an awesome dual purpose calf as well because his build is incredible and that way he would definitely be highlighted somewhere. Extremely cool. So talk to me about where you think he needs to be in terms of his endpoint, what he needs to look like 12 o'. Clock. He's definitely got a much more gentle disposition, so I think he could work for just about any family for sure.
B
Yeah, gentle disposition is there and I guess that's kind of the chance that we, that we take doing these online deals. When you stick one out there that is as gentle as he is, that thing is. And anybody that's fed One of these 1776 calves, their tops are incredible and his, his is right there with him. This thing is massive topped. And so yeah, he's got the hair and, and he's, and he can slick. He's, he's dual purpose and, and I think, I think that gives a family so much opportunity where you're not just kind of one and done. You're relying on that hair to get the look and then you're. And you're done if you don't get it done. At Fort Worth, the toughest show in the business. This, this calf can go on somewhere and get. Give you to get it Done. Because he is, is good and his neck ties in real good. When you get him and blow him out, tie his head up this, this calf, it changes his whole appearance. So when you show this calf, you're, you're not even going to recognize him from the video. He's. This is, this is a very high quality calf and got the good soft big hair. He'll be fun.
A
Lot 8 will be next. This will be another full sid to the steer that won Denver back in 2024. One of my favorites in terms of presence and balance from the side. But he combines that with an extremely well and level hip and hind leg that is very flexible at the surface. He's got the hair to make it for any hair show. But also in my mind also reads a dual purpose. Could, could end up being an awesome slick steer as well.
B
Yeah, I would, I would call this one a slick in one. Not to say that he doesn't have the hair, but boy, when I see this one, this is a slick, slick Sheeran. The kind that actually gets the job done. I pointed out in my comments that he's not fit for a first year showman. He's not mean, he's not crazy. But I don't want a young, you know, he's, he's going to be an older calf and I just don't think, I think it could be a recipe for a disaster for a young kid that's just starting if you're a family that really works hard. And I know, I know that almost everybody that shows these things works hard, but there needs to be a commitment right off the get go and not waiting for this one. Take them to a couple jack. Just throwing some feet out and take them to a couple jackpots right before the end. Won't work. But if you do put in the work and you want to show an elite steers this calf is that. And so I don't want to scare any bidders off obviously, but that's, that's what, that's why I made those comments on this calf. And as far as his look and his presence is as good as anything in the sale for sure.
A
Yes, Sir. Well, Lot 9 will be next and this will actually be a full sib to Lot 7, the denser haired version that I think is a very awesome steer for the upcoming Fort Worth. In my mind he's extremely dimensional, bold rib steer that's got awesome back shape and awesome and extremely dimensional pin set and hip. Talk to me about where you think he needs to end up and I think that he worked well for just about any family.
B
Yeah. So kind of the same scenario as the last one as far as. As far as my comments on a. On a first year or younger showman, but same thing. Not crazy, but yes, this one's got it.
A
Would.
B
It would be sad if this calf didn't get an opportunity to go to Fort Worth because I think. I think he. I think he. He's a player there for sure, but he's. You peel the hay when. And we wash him in the wash rack. He's got the. He's got the muscle on the top obviously that the 1776 just puts into him. So yeah, I read this one as a short horn and gives you a couple. Couple of opportunities there and, and got the presence to boot. So kind of like that.
A
Yes, sir. Lot 10 is next. This will be a golden ticket out of your 1 over 30 donor, which is a Thompson show steer, 650 over the in God We Trust. He is a Mayborn. And in my mind this is a short back, short hip steer that is squishy footed and also with that he couples it with an awesome hair coat. But in my mind he also slicks extremely well and I think it would work really well on the turf.
B
Yeah, you. You. I don't even know that I can add anything after that. You pretty much nailed it and you darn sure know what you're looking at. That's. That's exactly what this calf is. And I want to call him meat and potatoes. Sometimes I get frustrated. Frustrated here in meat and potatoes. But in, in, in my book, like this calf is exactly the way he pictured. He is meat and potatoes and. But I don't. I don't use that term. Just saying he's just so, so like he. He does the things that we are trying to raise as far as beef and red meat goes. So he. He definitely has the soft hair. That'll be fun. Fun to. To jackpot with him. But I do see him. I do see him through San Antonio and through Houston as a slick and one and he's going to do a lot of the things that. Where everybody's pumping supplements and everything into him and he's going to do a lot of those things all on his very own and pretty deep there. Yeah, he'll. He'll be fun to. He'll be fun to show at San Antonio Houston.
A
Yes sir. Lot 11 is next. This will be a man amongst boys over the female again that you own with pre 1776. In my mind, this one is a little behind in terms of his condition. He's a little greener compared to his contemporaries, but I don't think that works to his demise. This cap's bill is incredible. I think that with a little TLC and a feed scoop, this thing could end up being a very, very fun show steer no matter where you take him. But I think he's got impeccable hair to make Fort Worth as a. As a. Probably division one, maybe division two, middleweight. But I think he's also got the right shape and size and the right home to be awesome there at Houston or even Austin.
B
Yeah. So I would. I would say that I would. I would start feeding this. I would. I would give him as much feed you're going to be able to feed on this thing. And so I would, I would give him. Feed him real good and then. And then kind of make your game plan come. Come early fall and see. See where. Where you think. But yeah, he, he's green. But I'll tell you what, I'm as excited about this calf as anything in the sale. Like, I think he really, really like. So whistle front ended, no chest floor. He's a little bit of an outlier on the 1776 cow. Haven't had very many of them colored this way, so. But. But I think he gives you some options all the way through. And he definitely does have the big soft hair to be able to. To go to Fort Worth. But I think you read him right. I don't think he's anything. I don't think he's anything above a middleweight at Fort Worth. So if you're wanting a heavyweight, this one isn't your steer. But hey, somebody's got. Somebody's got to win those lightweight deals and that's pretty fun at Fort Worth. I think this one gives you a lot of. A lot of options there. And he is cool. He is cool. Top same thing on a 1776. Big wide set, cool back leg on him. This calf does a lot of things that. Right. That's winning these days. Be. Be fun. I can't wait to see what somebody gets done with that one. Got a good attitude too as well.
A
Lot 12 will be next and this will be an in God We Trust out of one of your charcross cows. In my mind, he's got the hair that'll be fun to utilize and. And exhibit over the jackpot shows over the summer, potentially fall as well. But I think this cap's build and his muscle shape breeds to be an awesome slick and steer there at San Antonio, Houston. I do think that his build is incredible, and that definitely needs to be highlighted. Long spine level hipped steer that has great set to his hind leg and his lower joints are incredible as well.
B
Yeah, he's. He's got some length of body to him, but he. He does it all. He does it all good. He. He does have the hair that you can. That you can go play with over the summer and. And work it. But I. I read this one the same. He's a slick, and he's a slicking steer and kind of like the 130 MAB or Golden Ticket steer just does a lot of things naturally that. That's. Maybe sometimes we have to work pretty hard to get them slicking ones to do. So He's. He's got some depth. Cool. Flanked. It'd be fun as a slicking one. I do. I do say. San Antone through Houston.
A
Thirteen will be next. This will be a. How great thou art over the one over 30 female of yours, which comes from the doubt of the Thompson show steer. 650 on the in God We Trust. This one's one of my more favorites of the sale, just due to the fact of his presence and silhouette from the side, the way that he draws back down to a soft and deep flank. Big hip that's extremely dimensional with an awesome hind leg. I think this thing at Fort Worth is extremely competitive, but also, with that said, I think he's that much more competitive at San Antonio and the AOCs.
B
Yeah, this. This calf is this calf's elite. He really is. That. That particular mating, we sent a steer to the glovers that they're showing at Oye, and I'm telling you, this mating is unbelievable. Most of them are silver, but this one here is yellow, and he does slick. He. I don't have a weight on there, but I will get a weight on him and post that shortly. He's a big. He's a big steer right now, and. And he is. So you're not going to have to rush this one at all whatsoever, you can kind of coast him along then. I go back and forth between several steers in this sale, but when I'm working them, every time I get done working this calf or washing them, blowing them or clipping on them, I'm like, I think this one's my favorite one. This. This. There's big time, and somebody big time needs to tie in on this one.
A
Well, lot 14 will be next, and this will actually be a full sib to the lot 2 steer that you have to offer. In my mind, she's a brood cow prospect in the making. I mean the angle to her shoulder and the way that she still draws back to a soft and deep flank with a level hip and extremely nice hind legs. She's soft haired. I think this one's in extreme contention to make awesome show steers one day.
B
Yeah, that's, that's exactly right. And I think you got a couple pretty good options on the mating on what you can mate this one to. I think as we saw this last fall with a lot of the guys up north that were pumping out some of these golden ticket heifers, just how awesome it looks like those cows are going to be on making some show steers. And I put her right up there with some of them really good ones there. I think you could. I obviously love how great. It'd be pretty hard for me not to try to want to flush her to how great. But, but you can also go back being golden ticket is out of that near perfect, near perfect cow of Laramie's. And I'm not sure who else owns that cow, but I apologize there to whoever does that. That, that gives you like some serious shorthorn options there. But this one is, this one is definitely a donor. And, and she's. If I tell you what, if I had more grass, there's no way this one's, this one's leaving. But we got, we can't keep them all and, and she is, she is special. She's going to make somebody something.
A
Yes, sir. Well, I think that goes to say the same thing for lot 15. She's obviously a full sister to her. And I think for making shorthorn, she's a perfect contender. Mating is like pure reflection, perfection. And others would make some awesome show steers, but not even that. I think her build is absolutely incredible. And I think her on any type of th or DS mating, I think that you could get awesome show steers no matter what that she's mated to.
B
Yeah, I almost could repeat myself on, on these two full sibs here, these two heifers as far as that goes. And I did not test these heifers, but if, if I had, if you. I had to say neither one of these heifers are th carriers. If I had to guess, they're probably a DS carrier. But they, they're going to give you some options as far as using some th stuff and, and they're going to make them. These, these are, these are very, very, very high quality heifers to make some show steers.
A
Yes, sir. Well, to round out the sale, you got lock lot 16. This will be a man amongst boys over the priest female that we've talked about prior the 1776. This one is extremely good haired and my mind reads extremely maternal in the shape to her head, the top side of her crest, as well as the way she just balances and looks from the side. I think this one is a very special female.
B
Yeah, I, this is, this one here is, is very special and in some ways it's a little sad that she's not a steer, but she's also got enough maternal about her that, that, that she's, she's going to work, she's going to make some show steers. I'd say she's th carrier. She's got the bump and she. I think she's th hot for sure. So I think she's gonna put some hair on him. I think you got some options, you know, Red and white Delight. The written in red bull that Brock Walshin has raised gives you some options there.
A
There's.
B
There's plenty of these clean bulls now that are out there that I think you can use on this one. She's going to pass this hair down and she's, she's boxy, super boxy. Build to her to the kind of stuff that that's, that's going to win as far as show steers. So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing what somebody can, can do and utilize her because they're going to make some money with this one.
A
Yes, sir. Absolutely. Well, that's the end of the preview. Is there any other extra comments that you would like to make before we kind of end the deal?
B
Yeah. I just want to say if, if you get the chance and you're up in North Texas by we love. This is what we do 24 7. I think there's only a couple things in this world you can control and that's effort and love and, and we're big believers in that. By hang out. Let's go look at some cows and see what these things are out of. All these cows that, that are out, these calves are out of. Are here in the front pasture and we can look at cows and we can look at calves. I know it's hard because everybody's so busy this time of year with all the shows, but if you can make it. Sure love to have you. We're around 24, 247 around here. Thanks everybody and thanks to all of our, our customers. And like I said, we're really looking forward to meeting some. Some new families and helping them out along the way.
A
Yes, sir. Well, you can find the sale on steer bidder. The sale happens on the 5th of March. Extremely excited. There's a lot of variation in terms of type and kind, but I think there's something for everybody in here. So with all that said, Mr. McFarland, thank you for letting us represent you. I love talking about the cattle. So we'll see everybody next time.
B
Yes, sir. Thank you.
