So I'm either good at what I do or I'm just lucky because I get to have the opportunity to represent PO Livestock once again. Either Kelton's fond of me or feels bad for me. I don't know which one yet. But I think that it is a very unique opportunity to represent them so many times, and they've been performing and knocking it out of the park. His last two sales were absolutely incredible. I think they were pretty, pretty shocked at how things went, but not necessarily because they knew the quality of cattle they had to offer. But with all that said, there's another sale that they have going on with Ginger slot Ginger show steers there on April 13. It is another foam bid off steer sale. But actually, this is almost kind of like a live event. And so what I want Kelton and Kevin to do, first off, introduce yourselves. Kelton, you've been on here I don't know how many times, so people are probably tired of listening to you. But Kevin, I think you definitely need to introduce yourself as well and then give us the layout of how this phone bid off works alongside what all entails with this live event that y' all got going on there in Fall City.
B
Yeah. So appreciate you, Weston, on that. I know people are probably tired of hearing my voice, so I'll keep it pretty fast. Just like I introduced myself last time. My name is Kelton Poe. I run that operation down home in Needville, Texas. I live in Fort Worth right now, but in Needville, it's. It's ran by myself, my father Michael, my mom Stephanie, little brother Keelan, and Allie and Jimmy are an integral part of keeping that thing afloat. We discussed it last time. Our operation is relatively new and kicking off kind of our cow herd, but it's ran off ET program stuff that kind of goes back to American cross cows and some exotics mixed into there and hoping to see that come to fruition as the years go by. But we're really excited on how things have came together, especially this set. Just like you mentioned previously, those sales that we had, we were really, really happy with the turnout that we got. Man, it was. It was a good, good event we had. That open house we held was a huge hit and really proud of everything, how it together and hoping this kind of keep the train rolling and do just as that did. So that's what it looks like there. I'll let Kevin kind of take the stage and talk about his operation and kind of what we have coming.
C
Awesome. Well, unlike Kelton, this is my first time on here now. So my name's Kevin Gingers. I'm from Fall City, Texas. Myself, my dad and my grandpa kind of run the, the operation we call Ginger Show Steers and we've been doing it for a while, you know, dating back to as long as I can remember. When I was little my dad was always selling show steers and stuff like that. But in the past few years I'd say five or so we've really tried to take this thing online and make it a little bigger and kind of get our name out there to more of an extent. But really the last three years we've kind of been doing this thing with PO livestock and having a sale down south to kind of go along with all the other ones. And so far based off the last two years, it's had some success in there and so we're pretty pumped about that one. But really how that that weekend's going to break down is obviously we're going to have our phone bid on the 13th. It's going to consist of nine head that are posted on SC but there is a handful of cattle down there. Just talking between private treaties, I know we got four and a bid off that isn't posted online. It's kind of just an in person thing, a four head that we raised on our end that we think are pretty solid. But how the phone bid off is going to work for Monday. Bids will close Monday, April 13th at 8pm and then pretty much all you got to do is either if you come in person, you know, we'll have kind of a book there consisting of the lots, just kind of got to tell us which one you want to be in on and everything like that. Or even if you can't make it out there and you want to get on one through SC or something like that, you're more than welcome to call us and we'll have, you know, your name put down and everything. So that way we can make sure we get all those bids in and then essentially it'll just start in order, I guess not of the sale but of which lots are the highest. So for example, if a lot 5 was the highest one, that would be the first one we would bid off and go accordingly that way I guess through price.
A
Awesome. Well that's great to know and glad that we were able to get that out there for everybody to, to to hear and know how the process works. So with that said, for this sale that you all have on display here on sc, you started off with an absolute hammer in my mind. And I'm not fond of him because he's a Nelson. I'm fond of him because of his color, his look from profile, his depth of body in tandem with an awesome hip and hind leg. Kelton, y' all are offering this one. I don't think that it gets any better for a high quality American for San Antonio, Houston.
B
Yeah, man, absolutely. The big thing that I like to say on this calf is it's our. It's Keelan's senior year. I'd sure like to hold him back for him, but at the same breath, I want to make sure that we always make a commitment to offering our best stuff. With the way this sale's gone, in two years, it's. It's hoisted two banners in the American division. I certainly want to make sure we keep. Keep firing away to do so. I think this calf is an absolute hammer, y'.
C
All.
B
This one is. First things first. Like you said, out of that Nelson bull, there's not a much better American sire out there that can be utilized. I think he's had his fair share of wins and banners already, and I'm certainly happy that we're able to get our hands on this calf because of it. His mom, I remember whenever she was a heifer calf and how much of a freak show was just kind of piecing things together that didn't make sense. And I was always high on her because of it. This calf does every bit of that. You know, if you read my footnotes, I've already kind of insinuated. I want to kind of set the record straight, too. This calf is the real deal. And a lot of things on him just does not make sense. I mean, he has got such a thin neck. He parks on the top side of his shoulder. He is massive, massive backed. He's the biggest, pin thickest ended calf that I've offered all year long. And whenever you juice them up with that much muscle and they're so maxed out in every single aspect, it's pretty awesome to have that calf get out and go and see the rear leg that one's parked underneath. I mean, he has the. The deep heel, the. The really flexible, bendy rear leg that gets out and tracks about as good as everything else that you'd expect. This calf, just, like I said, doesn't make sense how he does it. If he's able to get where he needs to. Gosh, I think that's a calf that's going to hang with the best of him. And no matter where you take him, I think he's real dual purpose. He will have the really good fuz footwork, then, you know, probably be a heavyweight. But if you plan on taking him to a slick show, you know, you can probably see from the video slash picture, there is so much muscle, there's so much body. That is a dense rascal. I think will compete no matter the scene. Man, I love this calf. This is one that, if you're serious about the American show steer game, gosh, I think this one, if you get him in your home and you do all the right things and we work together as a team, we can make this one look awfully tough to beat.
A
No, I completely agree with that statement. And so next will be lot two, and this will be one of Kevin's. This will be an In God We Trust on RJ Rosetta. This is going to be a Fort Worth calf, and honestly, his hair quality is extremely good, but he couples that with an awesome rib cage alongside a very powerful hip and hind leg while being extremely stout featured at the surface. But I don't think if someone wants to take him to Fort Worth or he's not quite 12 o', clock, this calf could be an awesome simmental prospect at a slick show and still be highly competitive.
C
Yeah, you pretty much hit that one on the head. You know, the first thing when I saw this calf and when we offered them up here online to SC was dual purpose. And I think that's a big part of the kind of things, especially down kind of in our area of the world. Everyone's trying to go to Fort Worth, but obviously, you know, the summers aren't always too kind down there. And so you. You gotta have one that can kind of do both. Yeah, like you. You hit the nail on the head there. His hair quality is incredible. One that was super fun to clip on, you know, as we got him ready for picture day. But I think when you're just discussing him as a whole, you see his picture on SC and this thing is. Is really neat looking and how kind of how he's t. That balances super well. He's plenty sound when you get him out and get him going, but one that, you know, you just got to appreciate kind of his natural kind of muscle pattern dimension he's got going to him. Because I think, you know, when we're talking possibly having a slick and mouth, that's definitely what you got to have to compete, you know, with your sand and Tone Houston Austin kind of shows. And this is one that I think becomes very hard to pick a hole in and think he's a very solid one that we had in here is our dual purpose calf.
A
Yes, sir. Well, lot threes next and Kelton, this is going be one of yours. He's a CM on an IV 97 female. What I'd like to know is what you think he classifies as because you list a couple of breeds that you think he can make a run at. But my personal opinion, you were elaborating on a bendy hind leg, and I think this calf has exactly that. And it is a extremely flexible, deep healed, real soft pastern calf that is built extremely well. Think he needs a little time in TLC. I think once he hits 12 o', clock, he's going to read extremely right.
B
Yeah, John, Ike is a dog and with that pedigree, you know, you can certainly look back and talk about what that Ivy program's done. And here of recent, with that bull and their cow base, I mean, they've been setting the world on fire. And this calf is a testament all to that. I mean, this one is. I don't know where you take him. I think he's going to have a little hair, not enough to just get you so fired up to go to Fort Worth, but if you get him to where you need to, San Antonio is my destination of preference on what I see in him. But San Antonio, Houston, Austin, whatever it might, this one is going to look like a million bucks. This calf is awesome, y'. All. I mean, the hind leg, like you said, it's hard to draw a much better hind leg, especially with what we've seen consistently chosen out there in the show ring by all the show judges that come down to Texas. If you have a hind leg that's as bendy as what that one is and sets down as squares he does at the surface on his rear foot, that's kind of the prototype of what we've seen win time and time again. But that's a, you know, that's only a sliver of what we're talking about in this cat. I mean, he's still skinny. He's going to get there. I love the transition that one's got. He is so tucked up and tidy at the base of his chest. But then he worked down his belly line. He works back into a really progressive flank. That kind of gives him a really intimidating silhouette from the outside. But past that level design calf, great, great look. And he is so waspy up through his front one third with a brilliant looking head. I kind of mentioned at the back half of that my comment section. If you were talking about shopping online and having some confidence in a calf, just click his video. It is the most incredible thing. I mean, whenever we got these things out here and these Americans wanted to be a little bit more challenging on us and the videos and the time you didn't see on camera while we were picturing, once we got done with his, his picture, we turned him loose. It took maybe 30 seconds to get all that. I mean he be kind of pranced around, threw his head up way, way high above the fence and it was game on. That calf is the most lethal looking calf that we're going to offer probably this year from the side. Like you said, I put a slew of them on there. In terms of what he classifies in, obviously that calf's American. If you feel like, hey, I want to try my chance at, you know, a heavyweight division and you know, make sure that I'm playing as safe as possible, knowing there's more sales spots. Yeah, run him abc. That's cool. I think he's a gangster of a gurk to go try and win that deal. And I did mention if you did feel a little bit risky and you really wanted to get after him, he's black and he's pulled. I'm not telling you he's got just the head shape that screams brangus. But I'm also saying that it's, it's not out of the, out of contention. I think if you get him in any of those three breeds, you've got a, a top end show calf to compete. If he gets in the brang of steel, heck yeah. You run them girt, you probably got a calf to go win. And then the ABC show, I think that that upholds it into the bargain.
A
Yes, sir, completely agree. Lot 4 is next. This is going to be a perfection walks alone. Shorthorn steer also could run main. So I'd like to know, Kevin, what you think in terms of classification on what you think is safe and not. But the calf is extremely good haired. He's really proportional from the side. His hip and hind leg posture is exceptional. Talk to me about what you think his best end point is. I see him if he goes up north, the calf could have real good air quality to make an awesome Fort Worth prospect. If not, I think he's got all the right mass and dimension to be a very nice slick steer.
C
Yeah. And I think when it comes to classification, obviously, you know, they always tell you it's at the classifiers kind of preference or whatever they Think flies. I think this thing is. Is marked up in deep enough colored red and has the right kind of color pattern to run shorthorn all day. But this is one I definitely wouldn't be afraid to take into the main show by any means if you had to. One that like you mentioned, yes, he is really good haired and Fort Worth is most definitely an option for this guy. Kind of another one that I kind of saw is a dual purpose deal and that is very important for a lot of people I deal with and I know almost everybody in Texas. That is a big thing and so that was an emphasis on him there, but one that I think when you just study him there from the side, really good balance. The one that I think ties his neck perfect into his shoulder and kind of the way he can feed up out of it. And then you get him on a halter one that just can kind of profile wicked there from this side when we get him tied up. Love how big legged he is and still think he's dense enough, middle and stout enough out of his pins that you know if you had to take him into the main show, maybe at a San Antonio or Houston one, I certainly think you can still go in there and be awfully competitive with.
A
Yes sir. Lot 5 is next. This can be one of Kelton pose. He's the next man up on a goss female. Talk to me about what you think his best endpoint is. Obviously you've listed him as a Shaw or aoc. I think the Caf Slicken wise is right on the money for San Antonio. I would love to see his hip and hind leg posture and foot quality be highlighted on the turf.
B
Yeah, his best destination is anywhere, any place, all day long. This calf is going to be a player. When it comes down to it, I don't think he'll ever have the big shack taken to Fort Worth, but every other show after that I think it's game on. Like I said in the in my my footnotes, I'm never going to be one to tell you, hey, we've got the show winner there. But there's intangibles that if everything falls in his favor, he's going to have some say regardless of scene. That calf has got such a picture perfect rear leg and I love that calf's just depth to his heel. His rear foot shape is perfect. That calf just kind of trucks along and has got some sort of agility off his rear leg that I think is really hard to represent, especially out of these souped up exotic cattle. Whenever you Have a chance to hit your hands on one. I think it's a pretty special opportunity. That calf was one that whenever we were. Whenever we were getting Picture Day rolling, he was one of the earlier ones and he got. He got propped up. And I thought to myself, there's not going to be a better picture one all day. I didn't know tag 19 or tag 22 would have some things to say about that, but this is one that immediately lit me up. I had a big smile on my face whenever I saw him kind of cock off and give you that kind of arrog look and presence. This one's one that, like I said, really authentic kind of show steer. There's a big back, there's a really round rib cage. I love that calf's design from profile and to be one that feeds out the way you want to because of the skeleton, I almost feel like you can throw anything at him to get him right where he needs to be. Get that one a bit chunkier, get him to be a little denser all the way throughout, especially the center portion of his body design. And past that, you got a calf I think is going to be at its absolute best. Like I say, just take him anywhere, man. If that calf goes to Angelo or he goes to Houston, anything in that realm, I think there's a huge possibility that if all the cards are in your favor and you get that calf looking 100%, he's going to be super, super competitive at the highest degree.
A
Well, you mentioned cattle representing themselves well and being at the highest caliber as they can. I don't think there's a better Description For Lot 6, Red 53, 19 on a red rock. My personal opinion, those red ones highlighted there at Fort Worth stick out like a sore thumb, but in a good way. His color, I think his hair quality, his proportionality and symmetry all scream high caliber heavyweight American there at Fort Worth. And he's got the stout, burly hind leg that I think everybody feels as if Frank Ward is seeking after.
B
Yeah, I love to have Frank judge this calf in Fort Worth. If this one, all the things click, I think he's going to hit him dead center. Obviously, whenever we talk about how these things have been marketed, man, the days leading up to picture day, I know I posted that tag 19 we talked about previously and how that one kind of took off. Everybody's asking, what, what is that cobra necked, wild look in black steer. And then this one kind of introduced himself to the party. And this has been the. The home run hitter. Everybody's been questioning me about, and he's gotten a whole bunch of love thus far. This is one that, just like he said, his hair quality is tremendous, and it's only better that he's a good dark red color. I think whenever we get him to a Fort Worth destination, he's going to look just outstanding because of that. A really good hair coat, a really stout, dense orientation all the way throughout. I think that's kind of started up front. He's got this really broad head and tough jaw. It kind of works back into just this really, really big back and just almost hit you a little bit more just out there and pride open than what we've seen thus far. That calf is one I think is going to get better with time, too, especially whenever we talk about the places he's a shot immat at. I think once that one really opens up underneath, I don't know where you beat that calf because, like you say, he is great looking. He balances up and gosh, I, I, you put a good haircut on him and you're kind of, you're kind of taking a little bit more than what you probably feel like you should have. That calf, I think, is going to be super, super competitive and someone's going to have a chance to win a whole bunch of trinkets come summer in the fall, but never it's time to really get after them. I think the springtime, I'm. Whether you're taking a Fort Worth or you just run them girded at a slick show, that one's got banner caliber written all over it.
A
Yes, sir. Lot 7 is next, and this is the last one y' all have to offer up on the, on the online sale here or the display. Lot 7 is an amazing grace on a main cow. This is an AOC steer, and I don't think that his leg hair screams I need to go to Fort Worth. But as strongly as I feel about that, I also feel just as compelled to say that his back shape and power out of his hip and hind leg lower quarter and stifle says that I need to a slick steer and I need to go to San Antonio, Austin or Houston and show them what I got.
C
Yes, sir. This is one that, you know, we, we realize not everybody's trying to go to, to cow town and running it there. And we're very well aware of that, especially down where we live. And so we thought this one, you know, was a great one to bring in. I mean, this one's a slicking machine. He is Huge ribbed. He's so bold and dense there to the center portion of his body and then has such an aggressive turn through his stifle and hip. You get on top of him or behind him, you're never going to be disappointed with that kind of view you got there. And then one you, when you get him out and he's on the profile, I think can balance up well. You know, he may intimidate some people. He's got some big time pieces, but I think later on, you know, next spring when we get rolling into the majors, if those pieces can come together. I kind of find it hard to believe, you know, in the AOC show you don't find yourself, you know, one of those sales spots.
A
Yes, sir. Eight's next and lot nine are both going to be Kelton pose. A lot eight is going to be a good time Charlie on a man amongst boys hardcore cow. And you list that this one could potentially go to Fort Worth. I and I do feel the same as if he goes into the right home and they can work here the right way, but if he doesn't end up there, I think this is an awesome Gert prospect.
B
Yeah, this cafe is one that's going to feed out to be an absolute man. His brother was a black and white paint that would have sold for big money and had the big shag to go to Fort Worth. This one is like you say, get the hair quality rolling and have a good home to get him there. He's going to have just the beautiful dreadlocks to really work out and clip up the way you want them to for cow town. Hey, there's a whole lot of real deal muscle. Shape up high and just feature all the way throughout to slick off with the best of them. This calf is one and I'll talk about him and once we get done with him, we'll talk nine in kind of the same fashion. You know, obviously with that weekend and that time in April being a really big time for folks to get on the road and check out some calves. Obviously Luchecks down the road in McCoy having the big live auction they do there and having it all American based more. So obviously a lot of folks are shopping for them. We've got some bigger ones we just previously discussed, but certainly wanted to give a fair shake to two of our younger calves that I'm high on along with the large plethora of younger calves that will have private treaty. But this one is my favorite when it comes to propping up, giving you that look of just High intent presence and still being one that hits you hard for being a good slicking calf that's going to have some extra fuzz to them. This is a really, really unique opportunity to have a calf that may not be as blooming and may not be as just all there as some of the bigger Americans you'd see whenever you got on the place. But I think this cast feedability is really good. Like I mentioned, like Kevin's mentioned a few times, just having these calves where they have a variation of places to plug them in, man, this is as good of a dual purpose calf as I'm going to offer in this group. And like I say, one that I'm really, really excited about what the next few months are going to look like because I think his feed ability is right on target and that one's always going to be super competitive because there's no question about his look, his stoutness and having that kind of balance from the side.
A
Yes, sir. Well, lot nine rounds out this display here on sc and this one's going to be a king of kings on an American ranger, female ABC prospect that I think has got an awesome hip and hind leg. Very flexible in terms of his lower. I think the calf's got a lot to look after when he hits 12 o'.
B
Clock. Yes, for sure. This is one that TLC, you're gonna look like a super, super intelligent person whenever he's finished out. This is one that I really started to love as time kept on rolling. Obviously with that king of kings bull that horn's got, there's been a lot of folks who use him on American cows and it's been clicking time and time and time again. Now this one's no different. This is one that love for being kind of the middleweight American or abc, excuse me, to go compete with the best of them no matter what. I would love to see this calf of Houston because I just think one that's going to look like this is going to hang tight and be an absolute player on the green chips. But the reasons, reasons being I think it's pretty clear his hind leg is super stout and works as good as anything you've probably seen so far. I mean, his hind leg is what I call 100 out of 100. I mean, there's no plan, there's no blemish, there's no reason to pull. Point and question about, there's no concerns about his build and his hind leg posture for sure. The calf is dead level up high. He has rope necked, he's Got just a striking look of arrogance all the way throughout that kind of scream show steer and all the things that hit me as one that will easily feed out the way you want him to as a good tuck to his chest. He works back tidy and and works back progressive to a good flank line, even though he still is skinny and immature in some spots. And whenever we get on top of his calf, there's plenty of man to kind of keep that ball rolling as well rolled up on his back. I love the role that calf's got right there in terms of the genuine look to his forehead and his rib cage. I think that calf, like I say, if you want to go to Houston running the ABCs, he'll look really, really top end and maybe a class three, maybe even a two. I love this calf for that. But if you were to run them to an earlier show, like I say, if you want to put him on, you know, the turf in San Antonio, his hind leg is going to be a clear standout. And if we're hoping for a sales spot, there's no question why that calf can't get him can get himself a brand.
A
Well, with all that said, that wraps up all the lots that we are able to talk once again, I've stated before, this happens on SC online sales. All happens at April 13th there at fall City. If y' all got any other things that y' all want to tack on before we end the preview, go for it.
B
Yeah, let's kind of wrap things up and I'll let Kevin kind of knock out some things too, because he'll know a little bit more about it too. But just like we talked about in the intro, guys, this is a pretty large event for us. You know, obviously there's Luchecks down the road, Waldrick Bros, Robins. I mean, I'm missing a handful of them, but there is a lot of folks that are selling a bunch of cattle in that area. Our deal is not all going to be listed on sc. More than half the cattle that will be at the location not posted. So that's the big thing that I really hope that if you're in pursuit and you're looking at these cattle, certainly hope that they've hit you hard enough to come check out our stuff. But there's going to be so much more American, American crosses and even some exotic and some breed steers mixed into it as well. Me personally, we haven't worked out everything what we're going to bring. Private Trudy. It's not going to be a whole Bunch. Kevin and his father Doug will kind of do more the heavy lifting on the private 3D cattle there, but to kind of touch on ones I do think have a good shot. A few really good breeds, tiers for, for an American show might bring a lightweight shorthorn and I'm hoping he's ready to rock. But there's one. I'm pretty excited about that. If you were, were, if you were a fan of our tiger stripe calf and our March sale, you might be all in on this one too. He's a full sib. He made class girt and there's another one that's just like him, so he'll be simbra. So hopefully they're ready but super excited to get down there and bring our stuff in. And like I said, I'll let Kevin kind of touch on what they have running around there that he knows a little more about.
C
Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, it's on my Facebook page, but it's not on SC at all. There's a forehead bit off. Two of them are out of a bull we call Second Chance that we own. He's a waymaker son and one of them is black and polled and real Angusy and the other one's red and pulled. But I think that one, no matter where you end up with him, he's going to be competitive. Both are, you know, boxy, stout, wide and super flexible in terms of their skeleton. And come with an elite look we got in that, I guess, non SC bid off. We got a couple of Americans. One's a black one, one that is about as robust as I think we've got there on the place right now. And great in terms of his hind leg and just props up with an absolute killer look. And then there is a gray American in there. He's out of 11, 6, 20 Brangus on a business plan cow. And I think that one he is in November. He's a little young, skinny and green right now, but that one could definitely turn a lot of heads, you know, as you get the year rolling and as you get them on some. Some time and some feed. But like Kelton said, and I'll reiterate it, there's plenty of cattle being sold down in that area that weekend. You know, it's. It's a great excuse to come out and look at a bunch of head and try to get your barn filled up for the year. But yeah, it is a big event. We're going to have a lot of head running around there and you know, we're just looking forward to seeing everybody. We pride ourselves in trying to find cattle that, you know, at the end of the day, at the end of the year, can try to get you to a backdrop. And I think we. We this year did probably the best job we've done. Of the last three of that, I think we put together, you know, the best set we've had. Me and Kelton talked the other day, and we think this is definitely the highest quality as a whole in terms of all the cattle that we got to offer that we're bringing everybody. So we're just looking forward to seeing everybody that weekend, and that's pretty much it.
A
Yes, sir. Well, great way to wrap it up. And I hope that all goes well there on the 13th. Very excited to. To get a phone call from Kelton and him tell me what all happened and how high they sold, because it screams high caliber show steers for sure. So very glad to see how the event goes and grateful to represent all of y', all, man. So this time, we'll see y' all in the next run and empowerments here.

Episode: Poe - JSS & Consignors Phone Bid-Off Steer Sale Preview
