All right, everybody, we got another preview, one that you can find on steer bidder on February 26th. We're very, very excited to have Mr. Potter on here. He's got an extremely well versed operation there out in Ohio. Very fortunate to have him on here and talk about his success. He's got some embryos, some flushes and some semen up for grabs there on the 26th. So, Mr. Potter, if you'd like to introduce yourself so the listeners get to know you a little bit, maybe what y' all do there at Potter Cattle Company. Then after that, we'll go through all the lots with you.
B
Lot of work. Yep. Potter here, Southern Ohio, predominantly raising show cattle, show steers, show heifers, Got a little breeding stock. Started out whenever I was young, you know, fooling around with commercial cattle. Actually started off at, you know, my county fair, you know, raising some Holsteins, showing some Holsteins, then moving into commercial county fair stuff. Really got started whenever I went out to Timmy's and went out to Brian's and a few of them other guys and really started getting some of them donors or whatever else. Then everything kind of moved in. And I started out, you know, just working, working with my dad, my path. And then here, over the last year or so, kind of built my place here, you know, by my mom and dad's and got started and went on to, you know, me. Made a girl that went to high school with, grew up around, you know, her name's Josie. We got a little boy named Sawyer. So it's a little bit about me and how I kind of got started in this.
A
Well, the first lot that you got up for grabs is one IVF cycle out of yalls, out of yalls PCC. One donor, obviously, she is out of a 53K primo on a cow called 4303 list that anybody who grabs this IVF cycle, they can use any bull of their choice. She's a full sister to the Kennedy's reserve supreme champion there, the Ohio State Fair. Talk to me about her, what she's done for Yalls program and why y' all are offering this IVF cycle.
B
So actually a little. A little thing there on her. She is actually a $53,000 full sister that I purchased from Timmy's. I purchased that one there and his Schaefer ties plaster sale. I seen. I seen that thing the very first time, and that was one that I knew I just. We had to have that one. Like, there was no hands down in my mind. Like, I mean, as you as you went on to mention there, you know Kennedy's reserve Supreme Ohio State Fair Pen Brooks Reserve Grand Female Junior Nationals. Then you know you go back to our dam which was obviously supreme female at N&A many time champion Kenny and as well, I think that one, I mean that one's a vir heifer but like that one, I think her first flush. No matter what you take that thing to, if you do some, do some breeding stock, get in those mains keys, whatever you want to do, that thing will run no matter which way you take her. That thing is a flat beast. I mean hair, big boned, stout and I mean that is one that you put her on the move and that thing will flat motor like that one is one is high dollar and for
A
a reason in terms of sires. Have you flushed on her at all or had any calves out of her that you know, work?
B
Nope. This, this is actually your first, very first opportunity to see what she will do. So I'm kind of letting someone take the reins here. You know I. I got her. I went ahead and got her. I mean that one is going to end up being my boys kind of thing down the road whenever, whenever he really gets rolling. So. But no, as far as, as far as what she's. She hasn't really done anything. I mean I think she will. She's thpha free. So I mean I'm giving someone the opportunity to kind of go out and make the first, the first stand with her. So.
A
Well then lot two is next. You're offering another IVF cycle out of a donor you call a 368. She's a how great thou art maternal maid. Four. Two. Two you list again. Any person can use any bull of their choice. Talk to me about the cow, what she's done for y' all and maybe some progeny that she's had so far.
B
So that one, one was one that I purchased as a bread heifer from Wade Rogers back in 2024. She had a May we all bull calf. I was going to take that bull calf and take him to the beef expo. Decided that it was probably better off to keep him around here just to kind of go back and have some progeny out of that bull calf as well. That one is of course as you just said, like that thing goes back to RJ's. Heartbreaker. Heartbreaker is that broker Angus Harrietta half blood Simmental. I mean that one's mother went to Jason Waldo in Ohio and also had four brothers that sold for 20,000 and 40,000 proof's in the pudding there, folks. You take. You take that cow and you flush her to whatever you want to flush her to, and she's going to hit your home run.
A
Well, the next you're offering three sex male embryos that are going to be Here I am out of your donor 7 obviously been very, very influential there, that mating at your place. Talk to me about what they've done for you so far, what those calves looked like.
B
Yep. So that seven donor, she's a Fu Manchu back on a doctor who patio. Mali, that thing is. Is just out of the world also. One of our very first calves that we sold out of, that one was a 135 steer that went to Garrett Kalbig's that sold out there for 13, 5. He was a chosen one. And that thing had probably 4 inches of hair hanging off of him. I mean, that thing was good, but we also went and took her to Here I Am and I've got. I got one in Fairfield county that's getting ready to show in October. And that thing is really good. Then this year she had a pave with gold, which is that little in God little red deal that Wade has. And that thing is best. Best calf I've ever raised, hands down. Like, I won't be afraid to keep that one a bull, whatever. I mean, that thing just honestly, what he needs to do is he needs to go out west, out Iowa, Illinois somewhere and just flat roll. I mean, that thing is so style, so hairy. I mean, cool. And not to mention that things are going to be selling the 26th of April through.
A
Well, with that said, lot four is next. You're offering three conventional embryos that are. Here I am out of your donor that you call 7 13. 713 is a semi over a monopoly cow. Obviously. This cow has raised a $43,000 here I am calf few years back. Talk to me about what she's done for y' all and what you're most excited about this meeting.
B
So those. Those here I am 713 were embryos that I purchased from just a mock. The story behind that deal is that $43,000 one that that CME monopoly raised was one that went to Kansas City for Kendall Bremer's boy and was second in class. I acquired them embryos. But, you know, as most people know, were we're all in the same boat. Not enough recipes. Just too, you know, too many other matings out there. I do, I do want to offer those because I think that they do have potential and they probably need to be out there. I just don't have enough free tips to put them in.
A
Well, the next is lot five. And these will be four conventional embryos. That will be these over a cow you call sissy. She's a monopoly cerveza, which is a full sib to Ohio senator. Talk to me about what this embryo or this mating has done for you or that you have seen, and we'll just go from there.
B
So the sissy donor, she was the one that got it all started. That was one that we went over to Steve White's and acquired from Steve White. I took her to Ohio State Fair. Owed her. She was reserved as a calf up at state Fair. Probably kind of got behind the eight ball with that deal a little bit. I mean, we sold, sold a $10,000 one that went to Phil Lautner. You know, he was banking on that on that thing to go to Denver. Just some things don't work out the way they should. However, though, like that one also raised a majority rules deer that sold for 5,000. He was a champion AOB in 2019 at the AGR. She raised a $6,500. No worries heifer that was third in class bothering 2017. The class winner AGR holiday classic in 2016 and champion maintainer at Madison County 2017. Those I 80 like, I mean, as most people know, they've seen it on my Facebook. I posted it. You take those, they're conventional, you get you some heifers. Them heifers, them are I 80s. You know how. Well, here I am is working on I 80s. Hit them things, you know, get them Ambrose in, put them in, make you some females. Breed them things back to Here I am and come holler at me whenever they're born.
A
Absolutely. Yes, sir.
B
That's an old school mating that works. And that monopoly surveys a deal. I mean, of course, you know, she's obviously, you know, the full sister to Ohio senator. Like, I think it's time we bring back some old school matings.
A
Well, the next will be Lot 6. There will be five conventional embryos out of a donor. Y' all call Rachel. The sires walks alone on these embryos. Talk to me about the mating, how it's worked. Obviously it's had a little bit of success for y'. All.
B
So the Rachel embryos, those were ones that I acquired from a really, really, really good family here in Ohio that we've been friends forever. Zach was on family here in Ohio. They was kind of to the point where they was getting out of it. They knew I was really getting into it. He went ahead. Scott went ahead and brought them things down. Got him in my tank. I never really thought anything about him. However, where, you know, I'm. Where I'm really starting to kick everything around now. Like, them things go back to Kelly, which Kelly was Brwell's donor and Ryman's donor. Believe it or not, Rachel was actually the first natural calf out of Kelly. She was an Orland improvement. Kelly. Kelly was the 2009 supreme female at all. And walks loans. They're, you know, walks loans, a heat wave out seven physic. That 7, 75, 87 drop pit cow. I don't know them things or females. No matter what you do with them, I think that those things can flat get out there and go. Rachel, she was the 2011 Galliat county game day show best series. She won that show. She was top five at Wilmington in 2011. And she was at champion crossbred points in 2011 as well. Also, she was a champion key at Ohio State Fair in 2011.
A
Awesome.
B
That one is, you know, a little old school. I mean, there's a little age gap there, but I mean, don't hold back on them. Embryos like those ones are probably as good of embryos you're going to find anywhere.
A
Well, then 7 through 14 are all semen lots. If you want to briefly run through all of those with me. Obviously some of them are well known. Well known. How great. Here I am. Holy smoker. You got quite a few in here as well as predator.
B
Yeah, yeah, yep. So let's get in here about how great. How great. Conventionals. I mean, what. There's hands down no question about how great. I mean, every, every time you turn around, it's how great, how great, how great. That one doesn't need to be explained. If that one, if that one can't sell itself, then I don't know what will. I mean, you can't shake a stick of that thing and not be able to sell it.
A
Yes, sir.
B
Here I am, same way smoker. Probably the same way Thunderbird. Oh, I don't know. He's a yellow jacket Faber chantel donor. He's double clean. He would actually be a full sib like moonshine bull. Yeah. So I mean, just old school kind of. Old school kind of bull. Still probably got some value to him.
A
Yes, sir. Well, then 11, 12, 13, 14 are all bulls. You got stud monkey, Predator, alias Red Rock. All very, very old school bulls that have worked very well in the past for sure. And then 15, you're offering up a semen tank. Talk to me about the semen tank briefly.
B
Yes, sir. So the semen tank, it's used, but it's in real good, real good condition. Only reason why I'm selling it is because I'm looking to, you know, kind of upgrade, get a bigger tank. Starting to acquire some other embryos and really starting to stockpile some more embryos out of some other matings. Just trying to get. Trying to get some stuff moved around here and kind of start fresh. Nothing wrong with the tank. Stays charged, stays filled all the time. Never late. I wouldn't, I won't be afraid of it. So.
A
Well, that wraps up the sale. Obviously you can find it here on Steer Bidder. That happens on the 26th of February. Caleb's information is on there. If you have any questions at all, Mr. Potter, if there's anything that you'd like to tack on before we end the preview, go for it.
B
Yep. So I appreciate you having me on here, Weston. It's truly, honestly a humbling experience. I. With me being my second year into this deal, I didn't think that I was even going to have an opportunity at something like this. It's truly, you can't really put it into words how, how exciting it is to be able to get on here and kind of get some marketing out there and get my name out there and that sort of thing. I do want to encourage everybody to come in this April on the 26th, look through all these spring babies. I mean, there's some really good stuff here. Planning on having a little get together on the 25th. So I'd be interested in having all you guys come out and look at the new operation and see how things are rolling. There's some donors standing around here that are going to be, you know, they've got some offerings here coming up after this, though, that you don't want to miss out on. There's, I mean, some high, high dollar ones and some ones that are already proven and producing and that sale that's getting ready to come up here within the next probably, I would say four to five weeks is going to be a sale that you don't want to miss. It's going to be another genetic cell as well, so.
A
Awesome. Awesome. Well, good to hear with all this said, Mr. Potter. Thank you for coming on and trusting us to represent you and your embryos and genetics there at Potter Cattle Company. Again, all your information is there in the bio sale happens on the 20th of February there on Steerbitter. Make sure to check it out. This is what it's all about. Thank you all for tuning in.
B
