All right. So I'm fortunate enough to have an awesome friendship and relationship with Blake Holly, and we've been able to do a lot of stuff for rockin h genetics, and they're having another sale there on the 6th of April. You can find it on steer bidder here for the last couple sales, and I'm sure for plenty more in the future. They've been pairing up with the Hensley brothers. Kale Hensley's on here with us as well to talk about the sale before we get started. Is there anything y' all like to point out or let me let the audience know about before we dive into the lots?
B
Blake, you want to go first?
C
Go ahead.
B
Just wanted to say thank you for all the interest and inquiries we've had so far about the cattle and had a good amount of visitors so far. I think this upcoming weekend will be full of plenty more people out and about looking for show steers. It'd be a good weekend to be in central and western Oklahoma, really, all of Oklahoma. There's a lot of cattle to be sold this weekend and the first part of this next week. Just excited to be a part of the busy season. Hope everybody has a chance to swing by and take a look.
A
Blake, anything for you.
C
Yeah, I'd just like to say thank you to everyone that's bought in the past, sales and future customers, and we just like to help every one of you out that we can to achieve your goals. And we're really proud of this set of cattle. Most of them are all home raised, so it's a little more dear to my heart. But Kale does a good job on got a good crew, and I think there's a lot of good things that could come out of this group.
A
Well, lot one is kicking off. Anita, how great thou art on the donor 82. This would be a BDR monopoly. Extremely dense haired, but not just that, but huge feet and legs that move the right way with an awesome look from profile, Obviously, y' all state from Fort Worth to oie y' all talk to me about him. What you think his best endpoint is.
B
I think, like the calf himself, I think his balance and proportions are awesome. Picture and video are a good testament to his quality. And you hit it right on the head. Like, his structure is impeccable. The foot shape is awesome. Big bones, neck ties. Right. I think this thing can be real competitive anywhere a guy wants to take him. I think you can manage him on size and end points. Just how you take care of him and how you feed him, but a really, really good calf here to start. I think Blake will probably talk to you about his cow that he's out of.
C
Yeah, this calf's out of donor 82. We sold a full flush heifer down in Texas for 7,500 last year. That was really her first calf. She's pretty young, but when this one hit the ground, we were pumped up. He's been real nice since day one and we got him to Kales and he's just continued to click and thinks he's got a bright future and there's really not a hole in this cap.
A
Yes, sir. Well, lot two is next. Another how great thou art sired calf, but this one is pulled and I think he's an absolute hammer as a, as an Angus prospect. I mean, I think the calf can classify just about everywhere just in terms of the conversations we've had. Kale and I love the calf's proportions from profile. I love his width up high and how stout he is out of his pin set and hip. But more so not even that, just the pop posture of his hind leg is incredible. Yep.
B
Yeah, his, his head shape and the set to his ears and his flat forehead. He's got a nice little pole that sets up there and he's clean sheathed. I think he gets in anywhere as far as an Angus. But aside from that, like, I, I do think his quality is very good. Just a really, really good feeding one. That's chubby, good bodied, moves perfect, crazy good haired. Think that one will be really tough about any place you want to take him.
C
Yeah, I like this calf. Cale and I went back and forth between him and lot one and a few other calves when they were young early on and he kind of worked his way towards the top of the younger group of calves and he's out of an awesome cow and I think this thing's got big future and very exciting to see where he goes.
A
Lot three's next. Another how great thou art on a man amongst boys. Solid red steer. I think that's about as burly of a show steer as you can make. Reads to be like a moderate, easy feeding one. You kind of coast along till his right end point. But I think no matter where he is, he stands out for his dimension and mass and size for sure.
B
Yep. No, he is just crazy good haired, cherry red color that be be hard to miss him in the ring. He is. He's got a little bit of a ridge in his head for a th bump, but he is smooth pulled. So I don't Know how you guy wants to run him in Texas and at Oye. I think he's a really competitive shorthorn, but you hit it right on the head. Just crazy burly, crazy stout, huge pinned, monster legs. Moves really nice. Good calf.
C
Really good calf. On picture pin day he came out in the ring and he made a lot of people perk up. And I think there's just a lot of good in this kit. And I think like Kale said about the Oie shorthorn, I think he's going to be an animal in that deal. I think he's good enough to run in any crossbred breed though also.
A
Well, lot four is next. This is going to be an in God We Trust on a broker red thunder cow. And what I think the so intriguing about the calf is really how well he ties everything together. Flat shouldered and really blends well into his fore ribbon heart and progresses back to a deep flank. Really neat about his chest so his lines and symmetrical from the profile. But I do like the calf a lot. I think he really stands out at Fort Worth for sure just in regards to talking to a lot of people and how those white ones displayed themselves there. He.
B
Yep. So Lot 4 is actually a full brother to Lot 16 from our March 1st sale that that his brother generated a lot of buzz. He was a lot of favorites by people that came and looked through the first set. And this one is I think of the same quality, maybe just a nickel different. Just in the way that he hooks up and his neck and his shoulder I think is a little better. And I think the set to his hind leg is maybe just even a little softer than his brother's was. And I do think that this one is just very, very high quality. And I think it's a good chance kind of late in the. Late in the show buying year or the show steer buying year for Springborn to come along. That for those guys that like to feed a little older one, I think this is a good opportunity.
C
Yeah, I think he's really good. Kind of like Cale said. I think he's a little bit different than his brother but has just as good a quality as any white kef we've sold this year in my opinion. I just think he's real good and I think there's a possibility he could slick. I don't know if Kale agrees or disagrees, but I think this thing's pretty stout made and can run with the best of them.
A
Lot five's next. This would be a How great thou art on the donor 20, which is a BVR monopoly. And I do like this calf's fundamentals of being sound, structured, good footed, stout, featured, and still have awesome back shape. And seeing his video going away, he's got a really wide pin set and an awesome hip on him. I think the calf is really good haired. I also think he looks really nice as well. What do y' all think?
B
Yeah, I think a very good or a very good dual purpose. One that's got the right kind of hip and hind leg for it. His tail, head sets in the way that he needs to. Back shape and rib cage are awfully good. And then he's still just really good hair. The texture to it's nice. He's obviously spit a little bit of it as warm as we've been. But as far as quality and build and feet and legs like kids. Calf spot on.
C
Yeah. This is out of one of my favorite cows. We campaigned the end God out of this cow a couple years ago. Had a real good career with them, but I think this is probably the best calf she's ever had so far to date. He's been a standout since day one. He was born like a few days from lot two. And those were my two go to guys out there that I'd always go and ponder on. But I mean, I think there's no holes in this calf and I think he's got endless opportunities however you want to go with him.
A
Lot six is next. Here I am on the donor 40, which is a maternal made driver. And I love this calf's neck set and his presence from the side. I think he blends it in so seamlessly to his shoulder and really, truly, he reads so proportional from profile and I do like the shape and size to his rib cage. He's got a burly hind leg and knows how to meet it, right?
B
Yeah. I think this calf's presence is spot on. His neck is crazy, crazy long. It sets right on his shoulder and then like as equally impressive as his neck is. Like, he's just as stout and just as burly. His pin sets awesome. He's good haired. A really nice show steer. I think he'll make an Oklahoma Angus if that's what somebody would like to do. Regardless, I do think that this calf is very high quality.
C
Yeah, this is a full brother to the lot two heifer in our last sale that commanded 20,000 to own her. This cow's not really missed whether it's maternal club. Kev. I think this is a no brainer pedigree and I Think the kef is just as good as a pedigree.
A
Well, lot seven is next. This is a how great thou art on the donor 251, which is a troubadour. And this is a different speed of a steer. One for his haircut, but two for his pieces. I love that calf's back shape, and I really think he couples it so well with a stout pinset hip and lower stifle. But the calf is so proportional and balanced from the side as well. He has an awesome set of running gear. I think this calf anywhere from San Antonio, Houston. He's right on the money. Just depends on what area of Texas he lands in for sure.
C
Yep.
B
Be the first to admit that probably not known to sell a whole bunch of slick shear and cattle, but when Blake dropped this one off, kind of thought he was special from the get go. And you, you talked him just right. I mean, his shape up high and his pin width and his lower quarter and how he'd still be able to carry it and go the way that he needs to with so much presence. One that I think is just a very, very quality slick. Sharing one.
C
Yeah. I've always liked this calf all the way through the stages. And to be honest with you, before we shared him off, he was a little bit rough looking. He'd had ringworms. That's where you're gonna see the black spots. And Clayton Weatherly, when wearing the picture of pennies, like, hey, let me slip this thing off and let's see what we got. I'm sure glad we did because I think he portrays himself exactly how he needs to. And I think this is a hammer of a slit sharing guy. I'm not sleeping saying me or Taylor swips here and guys, but I would take a whole pasture full of these to sell.
A
I completely agree with that statement. Lot 8's next. Another how great thou art on donor 20 and little white flank. So he's got some chrome. So I think the calf stands out no matter where he's at, slicked or haired. But I do like the calf's proportions. I love the calf's rib shape and just how burly and massive he is up high. Talk to me about what you all think his best endpoints at. Yep.
B
So the brother to Lot 5 in this one, and these two are always really similar in the way that they looked when I'd go up and look at them on the cow at Blake's. And I think that this one is of the same quality as the other one, and they Got the white tailed one is just really dense and just has so much expression and width and rib shape and then still gets out and goes good. And his chest sits in him nice. A really high necked one. I'm just a really good, honest, good feeding calf.
C
This one always kind of hit me as the slicking brother. Not saying the other one can't but just kind of watching them through the stages. And I think he's still dual purpose but I think really he probably is calling it slick. Sharon and I just think kind of like what you guys have said. I mean he's just a real complete kiff and not one you're gonna have to worry about getting too big, not too little. I just think you put a bucket in front of him and let him go.
A
Completely agree. Well, lot nine is next. This is an in God we Trust on Donor 126 which is a general, general monopoly. I think the calf is a true standout just in terms of his presence. I do like his neck set and the way it ties in. But he blends a flat shoulder into a fore ribbon heart and progresses back deep to his flank. I think the calf's haircut's awfully nice. I don't really know what his best end point is. I just know wherever he does land and he's 12 o', clock, he's going to read right to the judge.
C
Yep.
B
Yeah, exactly. Really, really dual purpose. Kind of almost slick. Sheeran built. I mean he is slick, sheer and built about his head and his neck and how need he is in his chest and he's round bodied and his hip and pins are shaped the way they need to. But I mean he's been hairy. He's still hairy. He was born hairy. So I mean I think just one that offers a lot of versatility. A good one to add to somebody's lineup that could fill a spot on either at a haired show or a slick one.
C
Yeah, this is one of our top colored donors and we've got a set of heifers that are out of this cow that are phenomenal. Kirby Eaves and Chaplin bought a full brother to this calf a couple years ago. Was campaigned by the Norwood family. Successful. I think it was one hole out for making a sale in Houston. So I think the road work is already done for somebody. I think this calf's big time and I really feel like in my art he needs to go slicking down south and Houston or San Anton, but that's just my opinion on that. Deal.
A
Well, lot 10 is next this is how great thou art on a troubadour female. And y' all were talking about slick ones. This calf's hair coat is really nice, but he reads to have slick and shape. I mean, his back looks huge and his hip and lower quarter is absolutely massive when rudd. It reads here on the photo and video. Kev's got a really nice set of running gear. Really, truly. Just depends on what area he ends up in, is what his best end point is going to be. But I do like the calf either way. Yep.
B
I think this is just like a really good, honest, like easy feeding, no holes calf that's still got all the power and all the dimension a person could want. Gets around and goes the way that he needs to. I just think one that's just really hard to put a hole in and be just a really easy feeding. Good, good, good, easy feeding. Good calf.
C
Yeah, I agree with Kale and you. I think he'll be an easy feeder. I think he's going to be better slicked. He's not massive haired, but he does have good hair. So, I mean, I think a guy could do whatever he wanted to with him and I think he's very sound on his legs. He's got plenty of power, got enough extension that he's still going to got that good show steer look.
A
Lot 11 is next. This is a golden ticket out of the donor 40 that we talked about prior to. But this cap's actually really neat and his profile says a lot about him. That is a really bold rib cage and he's so soft bodied, but he couples that with an awesome hind leg, his hips long and level. Talk to me about what y' all think his best endpoint is. His hair coat is tremendous. I think he's an awesome haired calf.
C
Yep.
B
Yeah, I think another one that's dual purpose, but he is awfully, awfully soft haired for a silver one. The texture of it's really good. The calf himself is, is like so good and practical bodied and then still his neck and head and chest all set on the front part of a skeleton the way they need to. And his structure is phenomenal. Hip and hind leg is spot on. One that I think is just very versatile. A good one to have on the team.
C
Yeah, I think this kiff's gotten better and better since day one. He's got seven or eight full sisters running around it for our next heifer sale. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of bulls out of this mating, but I think this one's high quality. The Donor is proven. I just think that this Kiff's gonna have a good show career and someone can have a lot of fun with this dude.
A
Lot 12's next. What's funny is, y', all this hat. Kale, you've had a life trip on a sale before, and I don't remember exactly which one it was, but I remember seeing one. And that calf was one that I was quite a fan of, if I remember him right. But this calf's life's a trip out of bdr and I do like the calf. I think he honestly being a life's a trip. What's crazy is he reads more slick and type than he does hair. I mean, he might have shucked a little bit just because of the weather, but just the way he's built and the way he looks and just how tidy his chest is and his ratio from forum to flank reads. I think the cap would be awfully nice for a slicking one, but he's got awesome hair quality from what it looks like, for sure.
B
Yep. Yep. Actually, Cody Bailey raised this calf.
C
He.
B
He used a little bit of that bull this last year, and he honestly had a pretty nice set of calves out of. Out of those. This cow, the. The dam on this calf is a BDR that goes back to the 28 cow that won San Antonio for him couple years back. But anyway, the calf himself, you know, a shot on the greener side. But as far as his skeleton and his build and his structure, the parts and pieces are all there. Just needs just a little more time. But somebody that. That likes to feed one hard, I think this one would fit what you need.
C
I mean, I think this calf's got some really neat pieces. When he came into the picture pen and threw his head up and strutted around, I mean, he's pretty arrogant looking and he's got all the big pieces and the wow factors. Kind of like Kale said, if you're willing to push on one and get him dialed in, I think this thing could be real good.
A
Lot 13 is next. This is a how great thou art on donor 20. So I really, truly. The calf reads to be like an easy feeding one. I think you just coast this calf along. He doesn't read to be just the biggest calf of the group, but I think that he's an awesome lightweight middleweight somewhere with an awesome hair coat for sure.
C
Yep.
B
I think another one that's dual purpose. He has a pinch moderate, but he's really good necked and his structure is good. When this calf's wet. His back shape's awesome. His pin set's good and the turn to his quarter is awesome. Just a really high quality calf. I do think he'll probably be a lighter or middle kind of no matter where you take him. But as far as having some versatile parts and pieces can go either way, hair or slick like, he's a good calf.
C
Yeah, he was kind of the runt of the three and then he kind of started gaining ground on him prior to weaning. He didn't wean the easiest and he didn't break the easiest. I would say he's not for a first time showman. He's not mean or anything, but he is a little bit spicy. But I think you get him at home, get him settled in and pour the coals to him, he's probably going to be the buy of the sale, in my opinion because I think the quality is there and the genetics are there.
A
Completely agree. Lot 14 is next. This is a How great thou art on a patent female. This calf actually reads to be a little further along about his condition. Maybe a little more further along in his maturity pattern as well. But this calf reads extremely burly. He reads to have a lot of mass and dimension up high. And he's got an awesome hair coat to couple that with a extremely nice hind leg. Talk to me about what y' all think his best endpoint's at.
B
Yep, that's another one that's springborn. Kind of a good chance to get in on a springboard if somebody's still looking good, honest feeding one that's really nice structured, really chubby built and chubby looking and crazy, crazy good haired.
C
Yeah, this one's a full brother to the one the Wynn brother sold for me about three years ago. I think he made the sale at Oye as a lightweight, but he was a younger calf. I think this kef didn't picture the best that day, but I think the calf's high quality, got good hair, just has all the pieces to be an easy feed and want to go out and go have fun.
A
Well, lot 15's next. This is the last steer for y' all to offer in the sale. He's a here I am on the Clarabelle, which is a maternal maid. And really, truly, I like the calf symmetry. I love his proportions. His hind leg is awesome. He's big, ribbed, reads to have an awesome shape up high. Y' all talk to me on what y' all think of this calf and really, truly what he ends up as or what y' all think his best
B
endpoint is that Clarabelle cow was. She was bronze at Oye in the Influence show as a show heifer. There was a full brother to this one that was fifth in class 11 three years ago there at Fort Worth. There was a litter of winning doubts a couple years ago that averaged 20. So this cow's been really good to Cody. There has been some people that have asked about his sheath and the shape to it and his head and his ears. I'm probably not qualified enough to tell you yes or no, but we can supply some pictures and videos on the wash rack or come take a look and yourself. And we can do what we can to help you guys along in deciding what you think you can class as. But as far as for the calf himself, like, his structure is awesome. His parts and pieces are all there. Maybe he just needs a little bit of time on feed, but a real high quality calf.
C
Yeah, I think he's very high quality, very good structured, appears to have enough hair. I think he can slick as well. I just think he's a real complete calf. Someone can go out and campaign him early on and then coast him into his end point and be proud of him.
A
What I can say is I've definitely seen less sheath and people calling them Americans, but that's for anybody else to decipher and what they're comfortable with and really, truly just where he lands. But I think regardless, the cat's really nice. With that said, like I've said prior to the sale, happens there on the 6th. You can find it on Steer Bidder. Is there anything else y' all want to leave the audience with before we end the preview?
B
Yeah, I just wanted to say, like, if you get something bought or have any inquiries about something else we may stumble upon later, we're more than happy to help in any way that we can. You guys send us pictures and videos. We'll give as much advice and as much help through the process as we can. Always do our best to follow them around and provide as much fitting service as we can along the way as well. But we're just happy to help and we want to see you guys succeed.
C
So, yeah, I just want to thank everyone that's showed interest and has visited the cattle. I think that they're very nice set and I think we're going to have a sale mid May with a bunch of these running mates to these steers here. I think there's a lot of big things going on between the two programs at the moment, and I just like, where everything's headed. And if you guys need any help or want to reach out about any questions, feel free to call me or tell.
A
For sure I know either of y' all will definitely pick up the phone and talk with anybody. So I'm very, very excited to see how the set goes. It looks phenomenal. Glad I was able to represent y' all once again. Empowerment's here, and we'll see y' all next time.
