Okay, guys, I'm be really honest here for a minute. This is something way, way new. I thought post games interviews were new to us, but now we're kind of changing lanes. So this is complete opposite of what a post game is. But I dig it, and I'm excited for it. Y' all have obviously heard and seen on social media and episodes that Beefmaster Revolution has become a sponsor. And we are fond of them. We're fond of the people that are behind it. And so we decided, let's do a preview of the best beefmaster sale that's been brought to the breed. So, with all due, we have Mr. Reese Tassen on once again. Y' all absolutely love this episode. And we have Will Tarwater. And your name. I forgot it. Kennedy, right?
B
Yeah. Kennedy or Kiki Hover. And there you go.
A
Okay. There we go. I knew it was hovered, but I wasn't quite sure. With all this said, we're glad to have them on. I can't wait to see how this goes. I'm ready to dive into the lots and talk about maybe the backing of the sale as a whole and the consignors and just everything that goes into this sale. I know they work really hard to provide the best that they can. Luke's pretty. Pretty into this as well. I mean, he's helped Reese before in the Beefmaster ordeal with me as. And so, Luke, you got any thoughts? Got any words? I'm ready to dive into this thing.
B
Yeah.
C
I think this is definitely something new for us, and. But I think at the same time, it could definitely be a big step forward, and I think I'm excited to see kind of how this goes and see what the future holds.
A
Heck, yeah. Well, guys, Will, if you want to introduce yourself first and then Kennedy and then Reese, you can. And then after that, we'll kind of just dive into what the. The story is of the sale and then roll into what all the lots hold. Consignors and such.
D
Yep. Well, thanks for having us. I'm Will Taywater with Taywater Cattle Company. I guess I'd be a little different than most. I got in. We hadn't raised animals my whole life. We got into in 2012 when I was in 8th grade, caught in the cast scramble, and that was kind of our first intro into raising cattle and showing cattle caught in that cast scramble. Got our first calf, actually, from McAllen, Texas, and it was a Beefmaster. So one of those things where you. They gave away a beefmaster calf, so I didn't get to go pick A breed or whatever. That's what we started with. So that's how we got into the Beefmasters and then just went from there. I showed throughout kind of middle school and high school, got a little more into it, of course, early on, did well, but not as well as what we had hoped to. So continue to improve over the years. Went to Blend for two years and then went to Sam Houston after that. Then we started focusing a little more on the Beefmaster herd, improving, buying partnerships and some bulls and then going from there. So that's. That's how we got in.
A
Awesome. What about you? And what about you, Kennedy?
B
Alrighty. Well, I'm super excited to be here as well. To anybody who might already know me, I love to talk. So this is like the most ideal situation that I could possibly be put in. But if you know me personally, you know me as Kiki, but if we're Facebook friends or maybe you know me through showing cattle, it's going to be Kennedy. So my start was kind of a little different. I was probably in middle school, let's say, and for years I'd been begging my dad to show. Finally I was able to get my first couple of steers and Weston, kind of like you, I've kind of dabbled in the American crossbreds. And then after a couple years I was like, you know what, I think I might want to keep some of these animals. So we got some Beefmaster Heers. I'm really thankful for kind of those people who helped us get started in that, whether it was just through owing Sears or even with my brothers, kind of in the beginning and definitely need a shout out. My dad, John Hubbard, he would be here and he would be so much, so much fun to have on this podcast too. But yeah, so kind of a different start into the Beefmasters. Had my first couple of show heifers, had some arbs over the years and then had a pretty good amount of success whenever I was in high school. And then after that I went to K State for three and a half years. So shout out to any of my K State listeners here. Love y'. All. And I studied ag communications and global food systems leadership and then graduated December of 2024. And since then I have come back and been working with my dad at the ranch and we've really been able to kind of have a hands on experience with all of our customers over the years. TBR has been a huge thing that we're going to get into, into this whole episode. So really most of our herd is old show heifers from myself or my two younger brothers. And then we definitely do a lot of IVF embryo work, and we'll kind of talk about that throughout the episode, I'm sure, too. So we use all of our commercial cows as our recips, so there's a bunch of them. If anybody's ever been down to the ranch in McFadden, we got a bunch of cattle out there. So that's kind of where we got started in all of it. It's definitely been a journey, and we've gotten to meet some really cool people and learned a lot along the way, and we're excited for the future. So. Yeah, that's kind of a intro for me.
A
Reese, I guess you can introduce yourself.
B
Yeah, I guess you can have a little time.
E
Well, y' all probably tired of hearing me talk, but no, I kind of went through my whole story on the last episode, so I kind of go back and repeat all that. Um, but names. Reese Tassen. I'm from Sandy Hook, Mississippi. Well, I guess technically Bush, Louisiana. Sandy Hook, Mississippi, now. Collins, Mississippi, now. So, yeah, y' all kind of heard my story on the last episode, and I met Will and Kiki, you know, a couple years ago, and we've gotten closer over the years, especially through the sale and stuff, and great friends and, you know, business partners. You know, we partner on a lot of different cattle together and bulls and stuff. And, you know, the last couple of years, they've definitely become part of our show family. So great people, and it's been, you know, really good ride. Glad to. Glad to have them.
A
So awesome.
C
Sweet.
B
Sweet.
C
So now that kind of everybody kind of got to know you all a little bit and everything, maybe. Do y' all want to kind of introduce the Beefmaster Revolution sale itself? Maybe? Kind of why y' all started it, Vision behind it, Kind of the purpose, maybe.
E
Yeah, I would like to. I would like to know how it started, too, because I still don't know.
B
Reese is here. He's hanging. Yeah, well, beef Faster Revolution is. So I guess we should start both Hubbard Cattle Company and Taywater Cattle Company. We're the hosts, and we're super blessed with some awesome consigners like Reese and B2 Livestock, and they always just bring some really cool stuff to the table. But I guess the origin of the Beefmaster Revolution would go way back. We had our first sale in fall of 2023, and we're coming on our fifth volume now, so it's definitely been a journey, but I would say the start of our Sale and kind of everything that we work towards started way before that first sale. Like we said, we all have kind of had different paths coming into the beefmaster breeding. And we've all been working on our operations, genetics and you know, you see things whenever you're in this industry and you see trends and you see stuff that you can maybe contribute and bring to the future of your breed, of your area, anything like that. So definitely a lot of conversation just between our different, like our group of people. And we were like, you know what, we need to put something together with elite breeders who can bring that elite high quality show cattle to our breed. And even some of those kind of arbs. We've had E6 advancers in there, bring all of us together, make something really cool, really unique and see where that takes us. And so I'd say that's kind of where it began. Just a lot of conversation and seeing a gap that can maybe be filled and how we could do that. But that's what I would say. Will you have anything to add on that?
D
No. She hit the nail on the head, but we started it like she was saying in 2023. And the goal was we saw a void on the Beefmaster side of those cells. Some people we know, we've had the conversation how people like to buy, but some do like to go to the sales. And we saw a void there. Putting together a group of elite breeders, now all good friends, to put something out there for people to kind of network around and then us put some cattle out there for other people to see.
A
Awesome. That's great. Reese, you got anything to add to that or. I mean, I guess you came along in it a little further down the road, but.
E
Well, I was a part of the first one. And I'll be honest with you, first picture day, kind of awkward. Really didn't know everybody that great. You know, it was. They were just kind of people you saw at shows or whatever. But we had a good time and we came back for the second one and it was a real good time. And then we've had more fun every year. So it's. It's been really good. But I just didn't know how I got started. That was educational for me too.
B
So that's now, you know, listeners, everybody.
E
I'm learning on here too. But no, we were very happy to be a part of it. You know, we had a lot of success with the first volume of the sale and the second one we did really well. So I was like, well, we need to keep on Doing this, and it's a great way to market the cattle. You know, there's kind of like what Will said, you know, there's people who like to buy out of the sales, you know, and. And on the other hand, there's people who don't like to buy out of sales. But you have a lot of people that whenever you, you know, put together a set of cattle, you have those professional sale pictures. You have them all in one place for them to come look at. That really, you know, speaks to a lot of people, and it draws a lot of interest and stuff, and it's been good for us, you know, and they kind of threw the sale. You know, we kind of got into partnering on some bulls, you know, and we part had. We partnered on playing with fire, you know, with, you know, Taywater Cattle Company and Hubbard Cattle Company. And that's been good for all of us. You know, I. I feel like we've been able to market that bull pretty hard and sell a lot of semen on him, and we have a lot of good babies out of him. And, you know, now we're starting to see a lot of other people, you know, have success with using him as well, which is really neat to say. I think just yesterday, one of his calves won four states fair. You know, it's. And out of cattle we had nothing to do with. You know, I said, which is really neat, know, to see him working in other programs for other people, too. So through that, you know, we've marketed up some bulls together, and it's been, you know, a lot of fun, and I'm forever grateful that they thought I was cool enough to be a part of their crew.
D
So that's awesome, guys.
A
Well, so I want y' all to talk to me first about maybe over the course of the last five volumes, maybe what were some of the challenges that y' all faced and how y' all progressed since then and overcame them and. And evolved?
B
Yeah, absolutely. That's a great question. I mean, I think that Reece kind of touched on it a little bit. But in any kind of new event or group operation, like, there's going to be those initial, what does this look like? And bringing in the right people and getting to know each other. I think a huge thing that we probably should add, too, is customer service is one of our main things with the be Faster revolution. So not only are people buying from one breeder, but they're also getting all the other breeders in the sale as hell, because everybody see things differently. Everybody does their own things differently. So there's just a big group to learn from. So I think that in the beginning, probably getting to know, like, different dynamics and kind of seeing, like, what is this going to look like? We have all these great ideas, like, how do we put that into action? So that could be just kind of scheduling, figuring out when, like, how do we do this picture day? I'm sure that if we looked back at the first picture day, I mean, I know I had calves busting through fences. I was running a mug. I had just came back in for the weekend from college. And so if we look back on that now, like, we're like, wow, what were we doing at that moment? So I think stuff like that is probably just the learning curve of it all. So in the initial first couple sales, I would say that that's probably part of it and definitely some more. Will, I'll let you get a chance to talk.
D
Yeah, no, you. You brought up the word challenge, and so that was our first time to, like, do sell pictures. And I'll say a challenge was probably where we did the pictures. The pitcher pin. I think we may. We may be getting closer to that direction. I think we've had five different pins, and we. I still don't know if we landed on the right one, but that has been a challenge. We think the pitches have turned out nice, but it's still trying to figure that part out. And it may be another challenge next week, but we're going to see. So that's just one. One. And that's maybe a different perspective on a challenge, which is a small and easy thing to fix, but. Right.
B
Absolutely.
E
And halter breaking. Halter breaking. Halter breaking.
A
Reese, have you been stuck with that?
E
No, no, no, no. I usually get tasked with clipping everything for the sale, and I've been assaulted by a lot of the Hubbard. But not anymore. Not anymore. They're good now. They're good now. They've got really good help back at home. He gets them good and broke and knocked down, and I have not been hurt and quite a while from any of the Hubbard cattle. So we have. We have navigated that. That hurdle for sure.
A
I can just envision Reese going, why is this thing not altered? We gotta clip this thing and get it right.
D
Yeah, well, we got a text last week from Reese saying, I don't know if I'm gonna break my lie. I'm just gonna bring her. So he's more alert, and we'll get a better picture. So the tides may have turned on this one. So we'll see.
E
Oh, well, I've had the problem, like, the last couple cabs. I get mine too broke. I feel like. Like I've messed with them real early, and they're lazy in the picture field. Yeah. Like, you don't. I mean, God, I know there's a lot of livestock photographers out there, and they're probably going to listen and make fun of me. I know some people picture on the halter, some people p. Picture off the halter. I don't know what's the right way. I don't care. Whatever y' all do, that's what y' all do. But, like, some of ours, we've got them so broke, it's hard to really get them to, like, wake up, you know, when they want to come over and lick on you and smell on you while we're trying to video them and stuff. So this year, I'm trying to leave just enough sauce in them to turn the picture.
A
Awesome. Awesome.
C
So now that y' all had mentioned, like, this is Yalls fifth volume of the sale itself. What's maybe something different in this volume itself that kind of separates it from the past four?
B
Oh, I love that. Yeah.
D
So one thing. And then Kiki getting Reese can add on. We're gonna. We. We've had more than 10 lots. I think each time, I think this cell, we're going to keep it a little smaller. Seven to eight. We've all been selling. We sell private treaty as well. And so we're not trying to extend that sell out. We want to keep it to a kind of a smaller elite set of cattle that from one to lot seven or eight is you. You don't find a quality gap like a lot one in people's minds has to be the best one. But why can't she be Lot 8 and then go from there sort of deal? It's kind of. Kind of what we're working towards is that always be the exact same from stop start to finish, as far as that goes.
B
Absolutely. I definitely agree with that. I mean, I know even, like, when it comes to choosing lots, like, well, we talking about one. And I know I have a joke in my barn of like, oh, you just got yourself a spot spot in the sale. Like, just by they'll do a look. But when we're looking at the calves out here, it's just so crazy because it's like, it doesn't matter where this calf falls in the sale. You're gonna do well, and people are gonna find these calves regardless. So I definitely would agree that Quality in this sale is going to be so cool. And I think, too, just like the diversity behind all the genetics, too, there's going to be some stuff that. Breedings that haven't been offered before, and some stuff that is just going to be new kind of to the beefmaster breed as a whole. So I would definitely say some of that and would be some of the big changes with the sale. For sure.
E
Yeah.
A
Or. Go ahead, Reese.
E
Oh, I'm sorry. I mean, to cut you off, but in this sale, we'll get to kind of showcase a couple of Kid Dynamites calves. You know, the first ones have hit the ground, and everyone's been, of course, people want to ask, you know, what does calves look like? I'm like, well, give them some time. Let them be born and. And then we'll see, you know. But the last couple weeks, you. Will has started. You know, Will Part. He owns half of him. You know, we own them with Will and Taywater Cattle Company. So he's kind of getting through and clipping some of those calves. And we've been doing the same thing. We're like, okay. We like what we see under these long, crazy baby hairs. So we'll have, you know, a bull calf. And I don't. I think. I know Will's gonna have one. One daughter. And so we'll kind of get to showcase, you know, some of his genetics. And we're pretty excited about that. You know, he's pretty unique for.
B
For.
E
For the breed. You know, he's a little different for some people, but he's pretty unique. And we'll get to kind of showcase what he can do, you know, as far as producing bulls and producing females. So we're. I'm pretty excited about that.
A
Tack on. I've seen Kid Dynamite in person. Not that my opinion matters, but that bull, compared to his contemporaries in the breed, is a whole nother level, in my opinion. I love that bull. But. So y' all were talking about different types of consigners. Quality versus quantity, new genetics. I want y' all to tell me, in terms of growth, what y' all projected, in terms of what the last volume held and what y' all thought and envisioned for this volume five. And I know you. You know, growth's an important thing. And me and Luke do this a lot. We sit down and we talk. We write down notes, we bounce ideas back and forth. And I'm sure y' all do that, too. So just talk to me about maybe the growth that y' all see within this volume, the Types of consigners and why y' all decided to maybe shrink down the amount of lots. But. And I'm sure that y' all have, like y' all said before, they're all pretty much elite. Like, your lot one could be your lot eight. And that's something that I think we need to project more in terms of online sales, because I would. Me and Luke were looking at se online sales today, and there were so many sales. You know, they started out really good, and then you get to the bottom, you're kind of disappointed. And so. But as I look through Beefmaster Revolution, I'm excited because as of last year, there wasn't a lot that I didn't like, and I'm sure it's gonna be the same way this year, so maybe kind of expand on that for me.
B
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I think definitely just quality over quantity was a huge thing here. And like you said, like, you don't want to scroll to the bottom of the sale and be like, oh, well, maybe this isn't it. Like, when I think of somebody who's participating in our sale, okay, maybe they have lot three, six, eight. I'm just throwing out numbers right now. And, okay, your first two, maybe they went higher than what you were planning on paying there, but that third one should still be just as good, and you should be just excited about that cap that you're getting. And like we said, the consignors, and we've all gotten to be pretty good friends over the years. I think, too, it's really important that everybody is bringing what they think is the best of what they're producing in their programs, too. So I would definitely say that that's a huge part of what we were trying for in this sale and last sale, I want to say we had 11 live lots and then some. Some semen and embryo opportunities, too. And this time, we'll get into that, too, a little bit here. But I think this time they talked about kit dynamite in this sale, too. It's going to be the first time that we'll be offering semen out of blaze and fire. That's a bull that Reese raised that Hubbard Cattle company owns. And Reese can probably share a little bit about that bull, too. So definitely some stuff that it's never been seen before. So let's just throw it into the sale at you right now. This is the time to get it.
D
And you. You mentioned the word new and something we're kind of working on, and we talked about this a while ago, is we have the live lots. And then we also have the frozen genetics semen embryos. This year we're going to throw a flush in on a donor that Hubbard Cattle and Taywater Cattle are partners on. So something new there. And then I know Reese, he's putting in some embryos that are pretty high end on his side, so. And then we even talked. I think what we'll see next year is we're going to separate the two cells, have semen embryo genetics flushes one night and then do the live cattle the next night. Kind of split them apart. Just to put more emphasis on. On those frozen genetic plots as we get going.
B
I think it's one of those things. I mean, in any aspect of life, you always want to keep getting better. You never want to just stay in the same place that you always are. So what is it that you can do in the spring that we haven't done before? And then looking into the future after that, you never just want to stay stationary. You always want to keep growing and keep getting better. We do that in our own operations. You do it in your personal life. Why would the Beefmaster revolution not continue to do that? Every single sale for our customers, for each other, and for the Beefmaster breed as a whole. Really?
E
Absolutely.
A
Yeah.
E
And like, you'll see some of, like what Kiki said, you want to keep changing things up and getting better. You know, you'll see some of these sales or groups that come out. They come out and they come out the gate hot, and they'll have the, you know, crazy big, you know, high sellers that may or may not be real, you know, but that group or that sale might burn hot for a year or two, and then it kind of fizzles out and they don't happen again, you know, so. And I think a big thing that we try to do, you know, look, we've had some cattle that have sold high, you know, but we try to let those cattle sell for what they're worth, you know, and. And we don't have to have, you know, every lot selling for through the roof. Crazy numbers. You know, the cattle are going to speak for themselves, and if they're going to bring a lot of money, it's because a lot of people are interested in them and they're going to, you know, bid against. They're going to bid against each other, and it's going to go up. You know, we haven't, you know, tried to, you know, finagle those numbers and make them look all, you know, all these cattle. So for crazy Amount of money. Because when you do that, you scare off real customers. You know, you scare off people who are really going to invest with you. Not everyone has 20 and 30,000, $40,000 to spend on a show camp, you know, but if you can sell good cattle for what they're worth for, you know, good and for good money. So I'm not saying give these things away by any means. Sell them for good money, where everyone turns a, turns a profit, make some money. But you're fair, you know, I think that's a big thing too. Just being upfront, being fair with it. And like Kiki said, changing things up every couple years, you know, like Will alluded to maybe doing the genetic sale, you know, different, you know, next year and switching things up. Because I feel like people get bored with the same format every year. Oh, we're going to do this, this and this. We're going to sell this, you know, put new genetics in there, put new opportunities in there every year. You need to keep people's interests, you know, I mean, if you went and saw, you're not gonna go watch the same movie 100 times, you know, you need to mix it up and keep people interested in coming back. So I think that's what we try to do a good job of, you know, keeping it interesting and keeping people interested and engaged with us while also maintaining some honesty and integrity along the way.
C
Yeah, I could agree with that. And you say something?
D
Oh, yeah, I was just saying I think one thing we try to do which is different is we have RM Designs do a catalog for us every year, which you don't see that much on like a 8 head cell with some live. Some genetic plots and stuff like that. But we have him put the extra time and effort into building a nice catalog. I've been trying to change it up every year, just a little bit as far as the design side goes. So we hope people kind of find that a little interesting and, and see kind of some improvement there as we go cell to cell. Yeah, I'm as far as I go.
A
Shout out to Garrett Melner. He does a.
E
Bar M design.
B
If you haven't worked with bm, go and reach out right now, guys. Everybody, Blood Bar M's messenger on Facebook. Absolutely. I definitely think that, like the catalog and marketing behind it, I think that that makes a huge difference and I feel like people notice that. I've had people say like, y' all do a great job. The social media. Yeah, maybe sometimes I flood that thing a little bit much in a couple of Days, but I think that that makes a difference. Having a presence, social media, being at the shows, communicating with your previous buyers and making sure that everybody knows what to expect, how you're going to find our sale on SC online and everything, that makes a huge difference. So definitely having that catalog and RM design and everything just going that extra mile. Really?
A
Yeah, absolutely.
C
I could agree now I'm kind of. I kind of had a question pop in my head. I'm kind of curious and maybe some other people listening are too. What may be does like sale day, the sale itself like that day insist of or maybe like the day leading up day after, like what does kind of that entail? I've never been, so I'm just kind of curious.
B
Yeah, absolutely. That's a good question. So I feel that we need to mention our sale is October 5th. Everybody on SC Online, we have an amazing sale rep, Chad Oates, who we work with. Shout out to Chad too, and we work a lot with him. So kind of leading up to sale day definitely being all over social media by that time we have the catalog up usually there's a lot of people kind of reaching out, asking about it, making sure that everybody who's interested has the link is ready to access and has all their login stuff ready. So definitely kind of leading up to the sale and it's an online sale, so maybe we don't do as much in person, but when it comes to sale day, I know it's a lot of, kind of all of us talking back and forth, making sure that we're knowing what it is. I know that I, whether I'm with everybody else in the sale or just on my own, am constantly refreshing my feed just to see kind of where everything's at. So it's definitely just a lot of excitement from everybody's end and post sale. It's you get back who's buying your stuff. So reaching out to everybody and kind of making those arrangements of when they're going to get the calf, telling them about maybe their cap and kind of just starting that relationship with your buyer and getting to know them a little bit. But that's just a brief. Well, you got anything else?
D
Yeah, kind of around the sale there's a lot of people who come out and look, they want to come see them in person, which is good. We want people to come see him. A lot of people, I'd say a lot of people who've purchased this buy them off pictures and videos, which is nice to see too on some sides that they trust what we're doing, putting out good pictures, good videos that aren't edited. That the calves, whenever you see them in person, they match up to what they see on the pictures and videos. But it's really. A lot of people come to look and then sell day is actually pretty chill. Just kind of sitting back and watching it.
A
Got anything, Reese?
E
No. Sale day. Usually we do. We'll wash our sale a lot time up. May post a story of them on Facebook, aggravate all the haters. Yeah. And tell and answer a lot of questions. Stay on the phone, you know, and have people. Usually we're answering. Usually the phone's ringing. You know, we're answering a lot of questions. And lots of times people they'll. They'll call me about just other lots in the sale. And I'm sure Will and Kiki get this too. They'll call you and they'll ask you about different ones. I'm having to relay messages to them.
A
You.
E
I'm all for it. I love it. I love, you know, people calling that. Talking about the cattle and doing. It's a lot of phone answering and text message send in. And, you know, some people who maybe don't know how to navigate the website, helping them with their login info, getting, you know, getting Chad to help them get logged on where they can bid and stuff. So it's fun. It's always a good time. We usually play music in the barn, wash whatever calf we're gonna. Having to say, I'll get the. His sister or whatever showman is in the. Is in the barn to set him up and just post picture, let everybody know, hey, the sale is today. You know, it's kind of. But it's fun. It's a good time, you know, and then we usually. We're never all in the same place during sale day, so we're on the phone on group calls constantly, you know, burning up our minutes.
A
That's right. That's right. Driving up that screen time.
D
Yeah.
A
So y' all have five consigners. I want y' all to talk to me about those consignors that y' all have picked out to be distributed in your sale. And then run through the lots for me. Maybe genetic backings, the story behind them, what they have to offer, why they're on there, why you believe in them. Just give me an overview of the sale.
B
Yeah, absolutely. Just a quick first. Or all of our consignors is going to be Taywater Cattle Company, Hubbard Cattle Company, Towson Cattle Company B2 Livestock and the Revolution Cattle Company. So us three were on this podcast. So we cover the first few and then B2 Livestock. That's the Allison family. So Wes Allison, who actually just started a super cool job at National Western and his whole family. So family operation. They've brought some really cool stuff. They have super exciting lot. I was looking at her today and just love this calf. And then the revolution cattle company, that's our partnership between Hubbard and Taw. Like Will mentioned, we bought a cow a couple years back and then we've partnered on some flushes and stuff. This spring we had a couple lots in the sale that we're actually offering a full sib to those lots this time. So that. And then like he touched on the flush. So those are our consignors. What lot do we want to start on, guys? They're all siblings. So exciting to talk about. So where do we want to start?
E
I'd say we start with lot one.
B
Place the sword.
E
I want to talk about this one just for a minute.
A
Now.
E
She's not mine, but she's out of my bulls. She's like my stepchild or whatever, if you will.
A
Pride and joy.
E
Soxy Red as Kiki has named her, she this female. I saw her for the first time a couple months ago. We were riding through and just kind of looking and thinking about what would be in the sale, you know, because if y' all haven't been to McFadden Texas, Kiki and them have a lot of cows. A lot of cows. So it's. It's overwhelming. Even for a guy like me who's seen a bunch of them, it's overwhelming. You know, you gotta ride through and look and maybe have you a beer and go back and see them again, you know, to kind of see what's what. But this heifer, every single time we ride through this group of cabs, she surfaced to the top. She's a plane with fire out of their sriracha donor cow. And you talk about one, we're talking about last week. Ones that make you stop and stare. You'll stop, stare, look, listen and learn. When you look at this, I think this female is super, super good. Good in her feet and legs. Big legged sound at the ground, big bellied, you know, you get in behind her, there's some muscle, there's some maternal rib shape in this female. And you get off to the side of him and she cocks off and she gives you a million dollar look. We want to talk about one that can be the stay at home mom can Go raise the babies. Can get out and move and can go beauty contest. You put her in. I think Socksy Red is it. I really, really like this heifer. And the only reason. Well, and the only reason why I didn't buy her before the sales because they needed to sell a lot. And I think this one needed to be in the sale. And I mean, she might be coming home with me. I might just have to buy her sale night. That's how much I love her.
D
That's right.
E
But I think this female is good. And I think there is not a better way to come out swinging, if you will. I think this heifer is it. She embodies what playing with fire will throw. It's where power meets pretty. And I think this heifer is really, really good. I don't know what all Kiki and Will have to say about her, but I love that one. I think she is. She is it.
A
Luke, what would that score in a reasons room?
C
I'm thinking like a 53.
D
Breaking records, which is going home with.
B
I don't even know how I can follow that up. I mean, guys, she's my calf. But Reese talked her better than. I.
E
Just love her.
B
I love it. Yeah. I mean, he hit all the points. Guys, if it was up to me and I wasn't trying to bring the best of the sale, Soxy would never leave. And I think the day that she does, I might shed a tear because I love her that much. And that's just how cool of a female this is. But it's one of those moments where it's like, all right, I can hold on to this thing or let somebody else have her and see what she can do because she's going to be successful. And like you said, playing with fire. And then that cow, Sriracha, she's one of my old show heifers. She was my favorite. I had another calf that I showed at the same time, so I didn't get to take her out as much. But I really think that where Sriracha strives is in the donor pen. And Socksy Red is a prime example of that. And, guys, the name, when you see the picture, you're gonna understand. She's got socks on her. For the longest time, I just called her socks, and I was like, we gotta spice this up a little bit. So Soxy Red it is. I mean, the name gets you.
A
No offense, but there can't ever be another Socks. I'm sorry. There cannot ever be another Socks. That red one of Reese's is an all time favorite of mine.
E
Well, this is our little sister, so.
A
I might have to look into the sale more.
B
Yeah, yeah, you're gonna have to look Weston and then update everybody afterwards because I think that you're gonna like Socksy Red a whole bunch. She's awesome. So, yeah, I mean, that's a great way to start it off. So thank you, Reese, because that was great. I'm gonna listen back to this and replay that. I'll make it my ringtone for when Reese calls me or something.
C
Yeah, I guess we'll jump in the lot, too. Who's doing that one?
B
Absolutely. I mean, like I said, we really. I mean, we do it based on a lot of different factors. So we're still working on the exact lot order. But I think next we should probably talk about Will's consignment. We talked about Kid Dynamite already. So you want to tell them a little bit about your first cast?
D
I'll take this one. So this is kind of a first debut for Taywater Cattle Company on the Kid Dynamite side. So that'll be the first Kid Dynamite heifer that we offer. And then it'll be the first effort out of Grace as well, which she was a heifer that we had sold and then got back. That's a Hollywood daughter. Back on our mocow, talking about just calf quality. Just looking at her, she's probably as dense made as Kid Dynamite, but she's also real dimensional and soft bodied. So super excited about that. But she's got the extension, the front end, the look. But probably the one thing that I like the most about her having all that power is a nice, soft back kind leg. And she can utilize it. So couldn't ask for anything more out of that kind of mating. And then being the first one on the siren damn side to kind of put out to the world. So super excited about her.
A
Awesome.
E
And she's a red baldy. Everybody loves a red.
C
Everybody likes a red ball.
D
And she's polled a red.
B
Baldi. You can't miss her. You can't miss her. Yeah, I mean, this calf is. She's awesome. I mean, Will talked about it all. And I think too, on both sides, too, you got to shout out some of the success that sire and dam has had. I mean, Kid Dynamite was 20, 24 National Champion Bull partnership with Will and Reese. So, I mean, that's the duo right there. Guys, I think we probably should have mentioned ahead of time, Will and Reese are both some of the smartest and they know cattle guys. So I think on both ends of it, this thing is stacked. And Grace, she was 20, 21 reserve Beefmaster Houston. And Will's done a great job starting to promote that female. And seeing those calves hit the ring is just going to be really exciting. So that calf is definitely one to check out. Once that sale lineup gets out there, you guys.
A
Awesome.
B
And then I think next, Reese, we gotta let you talk a little bit about your bull. It's the one and only bull that we got coming into this sale. So I think we gotta follow it up with that and let's hear some race talk for a little bit.
E
Yeah, we got. We have a little bull calf. He's a Kid Dynamite son. He's a young buck. He's just a makeaf. He'll be weaned, you know, probably a little closer to the sale date. But he is out of Kid Dynamite and Dream. And yes, he is line bread, you know, but it was an intentional line breeding. He's double bred. Playing with fire. His mother, Dream was the first playing with firecraft that showed on the side of black China. And they were reserved. They were reserved at junior national. I mean, not junior Nationals. They were reserve at Houston a couple years ago and they won Junior national cow calf pair show and Dream went on to have a pretty good show career, you know, herself, she, her and her mother actually 2 hold beefmaster u a couple years ago, she won the fall division. Her mother won the oldest division. And then in the grand drive, her mother was grand and she was reserved. So pretty neat. Phenotypically, that cow was really cool looking from the side, designed, really, made really, really sharp eye appealing from the side. Just needed to be powered up just a notch to, you know, be that next level. Well, we put Kid Dynamite with her and this mating did just that. We have a little red polled bull calf who is got all the body and, and middle that you could ask for. And one being so young, big set of feet and legs, soft, soft at the ground. And then you just get behind him and he's loaded with muscle and just power and he's rounding his rib cage and then he balances up so nice and cool from the side. I think this guy is really, really. He's one that I think can have a big, big show career. You know, I think he can be super competitive and I think he's one that could do a lot for a lot of different breeding programs. You know, we want to talk about rib shape. Rib shape, rib shape. I think this guy, even at as young of age as he has has so much rib shape that he can bring to a lot of different females and a lot of different programs while still maintaining the look. He's KTCC Comeback kid is his name. He. I think he's gonna be pretty cool. And we'll be retaining semen interest in him. We think he's gonna be really neat. So if you buy him, you're purchasing, you know, ownership of him and possession of him, and we'll be retaining 25 semen interest. So we will be getting into a partnership situation. You know, he's young, and that's a lot to gamble on. But like I tell everybody, scared money don't make money. And I would gamble on him any day of the week. And we've raised a lot of good black bulls over the years, but in this situation, I'm pushing all my chips on red for this one, so. So I think this guy is going to be pretty neat and hope everybody else likes him as much as I do.
A
Well, you're talking about Kid Dynamite cattle. Will, I did not realize three hours ago you posted that heifer on your story. I just went back and looked at her and realized that's the heifer he's putting in the sale. Looks really, really well.
D
Now, that's a different. That's another one built really similar to the one going in the cell. That's right. Yes.
A
Oh, okay. Different.
D
Okay.
A
My bad, my bad, my bad.
D
But no, all good. Yeah, Same type and kind and quality that you see there. Yeah. Yes, sir.
A
Awesome. Good deal. What's next? What's what? I mean, y' all talked about frozen genetics as well. Maybe we can talk about those with embryo lots. Y' all talked about the flush that intrigues me. Y' all have done that before, or Reese has in the American nation. As of last year, you offered a flush out of. Who was it?
E
Elizabeth.
A
Elizabeth, yeah. And I don't know what y' all are doing this year, but that. That's cool. Let's. We can talk about that, too.
B
Yeah, absolutely. I think so. The Flush is going to be that Revolution Cattle Company, our partnership. So we're going to be offering one live lot and the flush. And I'll let Will talk about the flush. But just a quick little overview of that live lot. It's going to be Olivia playing with fire. She's older than the rest of the calves that we have in here, so that's definitely something that I think is going to be unique about that one. And then to follow up that live lot with the Flush, it's Just something that we're really excited about. But yeah. Well, if you want to tell them.
D
A little bit about. So the last cell we offered that on Bubba embryos on the CJ queen of hearthstoner that we bought from next gen, I guess, a couple years ago. That's worked really well for us. And we've had people asking for us to sell a flush on her. So that's what we're going to do. She's. She's one that we. We went and we saw her on, I guess, kind of story behind her. We saw a picture of her on Facebook.
E
1.
D
Sure. She was a beefmaster. What she was. But once we found out she was a purebred, okay. We're like, we're all in on her. So we bought a flush, like the calves well enough to go ahead and go buy her and then partner on her as Taywater and Hubbard. And this will be the first time we actually sell a full flush and allow somebody to get that. And then I'll touch on one more thing. Just. We have. So B2 Livestock. I'll speak on their behalf. Wesson here with us tonight. But they're putting in a bet on Bubba on their bougie donor cow, which is. She's a Hollywood that his daughter Brinley showed years ago and did very well. I think she was champion at the united and reserve at Fort Worth and Reserve San Antonio. He flushed her to bubble last year, and the effort he has is really nice. She matches up just like her mom, but maybe a little more extended and cleaner up through the front end, which is all that cow needed to be elite. She's got a big, big set of legs under all the body you could ask for. So I think that's going to be really neat consignment coming from B2.
A
Yeah. Awesome. And y' all talked about the. The revolution cattle company. I've never heard of them, granted. That's my apologies. No offense to them. I just. I haven't. What. What are they offering? And maybe some of their lots as well.
B
Yeah. The revolution cattle company. So that's just a partnership between Hubbard and Taywater. You know, you go to start registering calves, and it was actually those Olivia playing with fire calves. And I'm logging into digibef, and I'm like, all right, we can do this with hub or TCC prefix. And you're like, you know what? Like, we do some really cool breedings together. Like, we need to just go ahead and start a partnership. So kind of our thought when we went ahead and did that. I mean, we have the Beefmaster Revolution, so why not make a cattle company that is just focused on kind of future breedings and bringing in something totally different. That donor cow that we're doing that flush on, she's. We got her from NextGen, so a completely different set of bloodlines that you don't really see as much in the show side of things and what she can do. If you haven't gone and seen her picture on our Facebook page or Will's my personal, you need to go and look at it, because whether you're a Beefmaster person, whether you're just a steer breeder, whether you're living way up north and you just want to look at a good cow, I mean, that's the one to go and see. So, yeah, Revolution Cattle Company, it's just our partnership between Hubbard and Taywater. So, yeah, definitely. Thank you for asking that, Weston, because it definitely gets a little kind of mixed up between TBR and that, too. So, yeah, we're super excited about the live lot that we're going to be offering in the flush, too. And I definitely think, too, of B2 Livestock, their consignment is one that we're really excited about, especially with Wes going out to Colorado and their family moving out there, and his daughters are playing a bigger role here with it, too. So super excited about that calf that they're bringing and where she ends up, too. So awesome. Yeah.
D
Sweet.
B
Sweet.
C
So is there anything else, or. You got something?
E
Oh, yeah. No. As far as frozen, like, genetics and stuff, us and Taywater Cattle Company will be offering the first sex female semen on Kid Dynamite in this sale. So pretty excited about that. And Tassin Cattle Company, we're going to offer another package of three Ring of Fire Times saline embryos. Those will be full sieves to Maddox McCollum's Supreme American at Houston this year. We offered some back in the spring sale. It did really, really well. I didn't think we'd offer any more again, but we flushed that cow, and she makes just a pile of them every time we flush her. So we have some extra ones, and we'd like to share those genetics with everyone else. And we had a lot of interest in them last time, so we'll be doing that. Give someone opportunity to maybe recreate that animal or make one like her. So be curious to see how they do. And then we'll have, of course, playing with fire semen and semen on Bubba's black beast as well. And then we touched on earlier Blazing Fire, which is a bull we've been showing the last couple years, and he's done pretty good for us. He was reserved at Cattleman's congress last year, and he won the Dixie national open show. And you know, he's always been in contention and won his division at several of these open shows. And he's done really well and hovered. Cattle company bought him whenever he was a baby. And we've just kind of been showing him since then. So this will be the first semen we've ever offered on him. And he's one that super, super long necked and clean from the side and, you know, but still has that added foot size and muscle and power. He's a playing with fire out of a Hollywood cow. And I think he can be utilized in a lot of programs. And he's polled too. You know, that's a big thing. People like talk about being polled. He's polled. So anyone you know, I think that'd be a good addition, you know, to have something different. We've had people asking for semen on him for quite a while, and now Hubbard Cattle company is finally gonna let some of it go. So they need opportunity and see what they do.
B
Yeah, absolutely. We're super excited to be offering that. And kind of a full circle moment I was thinking about right before we started this too, and Reese will, I hope y' all remember it too, is that first TBR sale that we had. We had an open house down at my ranch and Reese brought. I think he just had the one calf and he needed like, or she needed a little buddy. And one of those little buddies was blazing fire as a cabin. He was just a little guy. And my dad sees him and starts checking him out and we ended up buying him. And really we just needed a purebred Beefmaster bull out there. And recent them showed him and he was really successful. So kind of one of those full circle moments. Now that we're on the fifth volume and it being the first time we're going to be offering him so super cool Beefmaster revolution things, guys, that's.
D
They had Reese had him there with his other lot, like she was saying. And he wasn't in the cell, he was just a buddy. But you would think he was in the cell by the amount of people who came to look. He had as much interest as anybody walking through those pins. Just because he was in the same run with them. They want to know what he was and if they could buy him. But unfortunately they. They bought him before.
E
Oh, yeah. Well, the night before, John joked because we had planned on keeping him, he was like, sell me that bull. I said, man, I think we're just gonna hold on to him. Like, we haven't kept many Red Bulls, you know, and he was one of the first play on fire, like Red Bulls that we had. And John was like, oh, I'll buy him. Well, then the next day. And I just kind of. We were joking about it, you know, the next day he had so much interest. John was like, no, I actually will buy him. He was like, I. I think I do want him. So, yeah, it's definitely a full circle moment. It's pretty neat. And we'll actually be bringing him out picture day to get him pictured, get a sire picture of him. So it very, very full circle moment for sure.
C
That's awesome. So it seems like we covered quite a bit everything in the sale. Is there anything real quick that y' all kind of want to talk about or something we might have forgot on, like the sale? Maybe some lots or anything specifically?
B
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I feel like we've hit a lot of them. There's a couple lots I know that are going to be related to some of those that we've talked about, and maybe we should leave a little bit of surprise for people to see once it comes out too. But I mean, the biggest thing is from top to bottom, the sales quality, guys. I mean, if you want a Beefmaster and you have never had Beefmasters before, this is the time to go ahead and get started. Or maybe you're a steer guy looking to add something to your herd. I mean, some of these, they're gonna go and be successful. Shout out Weston. There you go. There you go. And you're looking to bring something. No matter where these calves end up, I mean, they're gonna do well and they're gonna be successful. So we're just super excited. And I'm glad we kind of got a go over all these lots with you guys too. I mean, y' all have any specific questions about any of them?
A
Man, when, Reese, when are you gonna breed to a clubby bull and make some awesome half blood ABC steers? That's all I got, man.
E
I tell you what, I next time, offer a flush. I think empower. You just needs to buy a flush.
B
Yeah.
E
Whatever. One of them dang club rat bulls you want to.
D
Awesome, man.
C
We can find something that could click.
A
I'm sure, I'm sure.
E
Oh, yeah. Oh, God. Man, if. Look, if I had the resips and I had the the time to waste on them. I'd flush her to one of them, but I don't. Weston sells any steers that I have, so I can't give a steer away.
C
So maybe something like the people that are listening, maybe they're curious on how they can get involved with the sale or find it. I know we kind of went over it, but kind of start to closing out to kind of give them a little refresher.
B
Yeah, that's a great question. Thanks for asking. So we're on Facebook, the Beefmaster revolution. So definitely go like and follow that page to stay up to date. I'm constantly posting on there, so you're going to see all of our consigner spotlights. If you want to learn a little bit more about us, maybe see some of the success that Cavs have had. And all of the links for the sale are going to be posted there. The catalog is going to be in the link to bio, so super convenient for anybody on there. So make sure you follow our Facebook page, all of our flyers. The catalog is going to have our contact information. So go ahead. Once that's all posted, save our contacts. You can shoot us a text if you want. You can call us. We're going to answer. I mean, we're used to talking about their sale day. We're, I mean, kind of secretaries on when it comes to the sale day itself. So reach out if you have any questions at all. And it's going to be hosted online as a see online. The link will be in there. And I know I like to just scroll and look at sales, so make sure that you have that ready to go would be my main kind of points there. And if you want to come out and view calves ahead of time, Reese's bull. I mean, Reese lives far away from all of us. Unfortunately, we can't just be hanging out all the time. But the cabs are going to be at Will's house and that's near Waco. So if you're coming up for Heart of Texas, it's an easy drive to check everything out here. What other advice y' all got for keeping up to date?
D
Just. Yep. Stay involved. Mainly we post everything on Facebook, so stay involved there. And then, of course, like she said, just reach out to us. We always have our phones. We're on them all the time, so there's no reason we shouldn't respond to you pretty quickly.
E
Yeah, don't be afraid to reach out. Don't be afraid to get involved, like share, you know, get. Ask us questions. You know, we appreciate all the engagement and everybody, you know, have an interest and don't be shy. Come out and see them. Come out. Hang out with us. Come. But come bother Will for a couple hours. Look at that. Yeah. Give us something to do.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, I'll just. I'll just say this and to kind of wrap it up, I. I don't specifically sponsor people that I don't believe in. I've watched beefmaster Revolution for I for sure, last two years. I could have before that, but honestly can't remember. What I will say is I believe in Reese Tassen and everything that he does. I've been able to meet Will a couple times. I've seen his cattle. I believe in his cattle as well. Kennedy, I haven't really met you, but knowing that you're tied to those two people, I know for sure that your quality. And so looking over beefmaster the last couple years gets me excited hearing all these things, and seeing Reese's Snapchats on the daily about all the calves that he's got gets me even more excited. But I believe in what beefmaster Revolution has to offer. I know that they're game changers in that breed specifically, but more so even out of it, because if I had the opportunity to buy a beefmaster female from either one of these people, I know exactly what I'd be doing with it to make quality show steers. And I'm not saying you have to do the same thing, but specifically for what they're after in terms of winning shows and creating donor and foundation donors for other people's operations, that's where you need to go. I believe in them wholeheartedly. That's why I said, hey, this is why I want you all to sponsor. I want to push you all in any way, shape, or form that I can. And it's exactly why I wanted to do a preview sale or preview episode of their sale. So, I mean, with all this said, guys, I mean, I appreciate everything you all do for that breed. Not that I'm tied to it in any way, shape, or form, but I love people that try to push the limits inside their own breeds and offer different opportunities to people that maybe don't have those opportunities afforded to them.
B
Yeah, absolutely. And I think, too, I'm like, yeah, let's just stay on here forever, guys. I think when you're coming into a breed or maybe it's something you've been at, like you said, you. You find those people and you trust in those people, you can look back at any of the success. I mean, look at just a couple weeks ago, West Texas, some of the success that we've had. Taywater had that division champion in the caf division. Reese had basically. I mean, almost a sweep there. I mean, when you looked at the drive that first day, it's all Mississippi kids. Taywater, tasson, tasson, tasson. And then you look back to nationals. I mean, Hubbard had the third overall in that national grand drive, six out of the 12. It's. We're backed by those kind of things. And you're getting that team whenever you're buying in the sale, too. So definitely. I agree with that for sure when it comes to the people part of it, Weston. So thank you for that.
A
Absolutely.
E
Yeah. The one thing I want to say, I know we're talking about a sale and promoting the sale here, but this is a podcast called Empower your. And I. I would, you know, be mad at myself if I didn't say this. You know, I'm thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Beefmaster revolution. I'm very thankful to have met these two people, you know, and become friends with them and known, you know, knowing their operations and their families. We've made a lot of memories along the way. You know, my wife, she loves Will's dad. She thinks he is just the nicest man. And they became little best friends. Guard Garden, the weak spot in the picture pen at the first volume, the first, you know, sale we ever did. And, you know, John Hubbard, if you to know John Hubbard is the love John Hubbard, he is a one of a kind and, you know, and Wes Allison, he's the man of very few words, but he always has something, you know, very, you know, wise to say over there in the corner whenever all of us young bucks are goofing off and stuff. So we've just made so many memories along the way. And, you know, you talk about, you know, empowering people, young people listening. If you're fortunate enough to find something that you do that you love, and then you're even more blessed to find people that you can do it with, you know, you need to keep those people close, and you need to take care of those people and be good to those people who have your back, you need to have their back. And a lot of times, like we talked about in the last episode, people get scared of competition. You need to embrace it. You should help your friends and want to see them win. And, you know, it's been very humbling and fulfilling experience to see, you know, all of our programs Grow and to be able to be happy for each other whenever all of us, you know, wins, even if it's not our day or it's not their day or we can all, you know, share in that success with each other. And it's very neat to be a part of something like that. And I'm forever grateful to have known them and have met them. So young people listening, find something you love, and then if you can find a group of people to share that with and support you, you'd be good to them. You have their back. Because I'm telling you, it's one of the best things that's ever happened to me.
A
So that's awesome, guys. I think the coolest thing is, is watching yalls friendship and how y' all resonate with each other and allow yourselves to grow off each other and build in that. I mean, that shows in the Beefmaster Revolution sale as well. You know, with all this said, you know, we kind of covered majority of the sale. I'm pretty. I. I'm pretty excited, not gonna lie. I mean, I can't wait to see all these things come come to surface, and I know I'll probably get some behind the scenes. Thank you, re Stassen. And so, Luke, I don't know if you got anything tack on with this to end it out, but yeah, I.
C
Think this is what y' all have going on is definitely great that y' all can all come together and create a community and an atmosphere that brings a lot of people together and still offer some of yalls best stuff that I'm sure y' all would love to keep for yourselves and. And not get rid of. But y' all are still pushing them forward and giving some people a new opportunity. I think that's fantastic. And still backing it, being strong and having the great connection that y' all have it. It's awesome.
D
