Dan Powers
Welcome to the Empty Netters podcast.
Chris
Can you believe what this has become?
Evan
There was a full 48 hours where I felt like I was, like, literally Superman.
Dan Powers
Jumbo loves playing Fortnite.
Evan
So does he.
Dan Powers
Gets on the sticks. Did TR show you the saunacycle or was that all you did? No, I invented that. Almost a year now that I haven't
Evan
taken a body check.
Chris
That's kind of nice.
Dan Powers
So we are back. We are horned up and we are going deep.
Evan
Finished tonight with some chicken fingers and a few Guinnesses.
Dan Powers
Ran into you guys. And that's where this pod came to life. Ice is ready. And we are back with a new episode of the Empty Netters podcast, brought to you by BetMGM. I'm your host, Dan Powers. I've got Dr. Watkins sitting over here ready to rock.
Evan
Talute doing his thang.
Dan Powers
And we got CP over here, maybe ready to rock, but definitely doing his thing, as always. Sir, would you say you're ready to rock?
Chris
I have maybe never been more ready to.
Dan Powers
Wow.
Chris
Isn't that crazy?
Dan Powers
That is. I mean, I wouldn't say it's crazy.
Chris
I'd say it's awesome. We used to call this. Oh, I burned my hand.
Evan
What?
Chris
I burned my hand.
Dan Powers
I think I. I think I'm. Listen, I'm sorry for you, but I think you got to say you burned your finger, because I see a band aid on your finger.
Chris
Yeah, I burned my finger, but I burned.
Dan Powers
Did you do it on a George Foreman girl?
Chris
Multiple fingers and thumb, just. This was the worst of it right here. I did it on a pan. It was a Pan Pam situation.
Dan Powers
Sure.
Chris
And there were two pans on the stove top, and I turn one on and put a little oil in it, put some veggies in it, going like this. And the handle of the other pan was, like, kind of in my way, like this, to spin it over like a clock.
Dan Powers
And the handle was hot, but the
Chris
handle had been over the. Like, the burner.
Dan Powers
Stainless steel pan. So it was a steel handle?
Chris
No, it was cast iron. No, because that I feel like.
Evan
Oh, no.
Chris
Cast iron.
Evan
Oh, yeah. I beat the. Out of my hand.
Chris
Maybe the handle was steel. It was a metal. It was like silver. So maybe the handle was. It was like a black pan. Silver handle.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
So, yeah, I did. I grabbed it. It was one of those things, like if you burn your hand on the oven, for example, you know, you're in the oven, like, you graze something by accident, but you're kind of moving gently anyway. Right? Like, you're like. There's hot shit around here. This was one of those grab where
Dan Powers
you could hit something in the oven and it didn't burn you because you're like, oh, whoa, whoa. Yeah, you're ready. You're ready for pain.
Chris
This was one of those grab something. I am 1000% positive is cold. You know, like, it wasn't. There was. You had a vice grip on it. I was like. And then it takes that full, like,
Dan Powers
Jesus fuck.
Chris
But, dude, there was a stretch. I knew it wasn't bad bad right away. I was like. I immediately run under the water, and I was like, holy hell, yeah. And our sink water's just so not that cold. So I just made a bowl and put a bunch of ice in it. I was just, like, leaving my hand in there and there was a stretch hour plus later where if I took my hand out, it just immediately was just searing pain.
Dan Powers
Yeah, man. Burns hurt.
Chris
I was like, dude, tonight is going to blow.
Evan
Here's a fun question real quick. Would you rather be burned alive or drown?
Chris
Oh, dude, Drowning is, like, my biggest fear. But burning alive would. Fuck.
Evan
I take neither.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Is that an option if you can pick neither? Definitely. I'm with you there.
Chris
Oh, dude. I think you have to say drowning because burning would hurt so badly. But I do, I do. I did. Maybe I just read this in fantasy books, but I think your body, like, goes into a state of shock, numbness pretty quick with the burn. Like, you're horrible.
Dan Powers
I don't know, dude. I think. I mean, if you suffocate from the smoke first.
Chris
Oh, yeah, I'd do that. Yeah.
Dan Powers
Just fucking pass out. Yeah.
Chris
Like you said, like, your feet are
Dan Powers
on fire and you just bend over. You. Yeah, let me get that. Oh, fuck.
Evan
If I.
Dan Powers
If I was drowning.
Chris
Gosh.
Dan Powers
Like, let's say you were.
Evan
I'm so sorry to make it this dark.
Dan Powers
No, but it's an important question. If I were drowning and it was clear, it's not like I'm swimming up and I'm like, get there. Get there. If I'm way deep.
Chris
Yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
And I'm.
Chris
And you're going down.
Dan Powers
I'm looking. Yeah.
Chris
And I'm looking around.
Dan Powers
I'm like, oh, it's. It's over. I think I would probably go, yeah. And just be like, get it over with.
Chris
Dude, that hurts, too.
Dan Powers
I think that, like, yeah, actually maybe that you feel. Whereas, like, if you, like, hold your breath as long as possible, you might make yourself, like, pass out. But I don't think you're. I. I actually don't think your brain lets you do that? Yeah, like I can't hold your breath until you pass out.
Chris
Yeah, no, it goes you. You like knee jerk suck in and then you do that fucking like shake thing and I'm like, dude, fuck that, dude.
Dan Powers
Suck ass.
Evan
Hey, let's talk about happy stuff.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
Okay, really quickly. This is not a long segment, but there's. And honestly, when we are prepping these episodes, I'm like, anything going on in the NHL and in the summer? Often there isn't. But then we arrive in the morning, I just do a quick check to be like, did anything happen while I was driving in? And the. I saw the. Well, and while I did that this morning, I saw the Will and Mack Rocky TikTok. And. And you know, those are my boys. Those are our boys.
Dan Powers
No, they bailed on us last weekend. I'm upset with the both of them. They're in the doghouse.
Chris
But those are our. Normally our boys that are today in the doghouse. Yes. But I love, I love the whole new generation of NHL being online and whatever. And I love them, you know, having fun, dude. Goofing New Boo goofing on their tiktoks. Have fun all. And oh, maybe you can splice it in. They did the Rocky Run. That's all that happened. They did put it in the dock. They did. They ran up the steps. They got their sweatsuits on. They did the. Or not really, but they had some outfits on Rocky Run and they split screen it. All I have to say is this. You know how. And ev. Maybe you can speak to this as the actor in the building, but I think it was in Michael Caine. Michael Caine's Michael Cain. But he said, don't ever dead sprint in a take. Like if your character's supposed to dead sprint, don't. Because they're gonna make it look fine even if you're not dead sprinting. And then you're gonna be so tired. Like when you try to give your lines or when they tell you to do it again, you're gonna be sucking wind. I've always kind of that being like, yeah, I guess you shouldn't be running.
Evan
Tell that to Tom Cruise.
Chris
Yeah, exactly.
Dan Powers
Who goes, fuck that.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
So I'm watching Will and Mac.
Dan Powers
Tom Cruise would say, that's a bitch ass take.
Chris
I'm watching Will and Mac here and I saw them before I saw the split screen and I was like, they aren't going that fast. But then I was like, well, maybe they listened to Sir Michael Caine or
Dan Powers
maybe Sly wasn't going.
Chris
Or maybe Sly wasn't going that fast. So then I watched the split screen, and Sly is firing wheeling. And also, Mac, you. You and your father, you ran those hills every day. Like, that's what that is. That is how you are. As good as you are, your dad made you sprint up those hills every fucking day, even though you didn't want to. Of all people, who couldn't high knee his way up the steps of Philadelphia. So, Mac, listen, dude, I'm gonna need you to move the fucking feet if this is what you want me to get excited about.
Evan
Do you think fans in San Jose are a little worried watching that video going off? They're like, jesus, he better get himself in shape for the season.
Dan Powers
What's he been doing all of a sudden?
Evan
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
Cool. I bet it's a matter of them being like, I'm not going to gas myself for a tik, thank you very much.
Evan
Probably, yeah. Also, like, what if you go too hard, you tweak a knee and then you're like, wow, now I'm in a, like a situation where I completely injure myself doing some dumb.
Chris
Okay, fair. But at the very least, what I would like is when they get to the top and they're doing this.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
Again, they're a little. The punches are a little slow. Slides.
Dan Powers
Yeah, they're just chilling, dude.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
I need more. If you're going to split screen it, I need. I need a better.
Evan
You're doing like a director's critique on their TikTok.
Chris
Exactly. Dan and I used to recreate movies, and every frame was perfect.
Dan Powers
So that is for damn sure. But we are lunatics. Correct. So, you know, that might have something.
Chris
So I love you guys, and that was really fun. Thank you. In conclusion, I really liked it.
Dan Powers
Yeah. And again, I love, love to see the fellows having fun.
Chris
Absolutely. Our hockey segment today is going to be two games. I want to play with you, too.
Dan Powers
Yeah, let's do it.
Chris
Cool.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Listen, there's no news. Yeah, there's no news. So all we can do is get creative and have fun in the hockey space with awesome hockey people.
Chris
So we're going to play a hockey game that I love that we used to play all the time. And we're going to. I'm going to bring back. And then I found a top 10 list that I was like, oh, whoa, that's cool. And I'm gonna quiz you guys on that, too.
Evan
Awesome.
Chris
Evan. The first one, man, you must have done these. I can't remember, though. The first one Is game we call what's the Connection?
Evan
Yeah. I've seen you play a couple of them.
Chris
Okay. Yeah. So this is.
Evan
I'm very bad at this, so.
Chris
Well, this is 10 trivia questions.
Dan Powers
Evan, we can do this together. Come on.
Chris
All right, the first nine have answers. And the tenth question is. What is the connection of those nine answers? So one time we did it, and it was all characters from Seinfeld. The answer. So you're like, oh, shit, I get it. So you might be able to solve 10 before we even get to 10.
Evan
Totally.
Chris
Which then can help you solve the ones you don't have yet.
Evan
Right.
Chris
Understood.
Evan
Yes.
Chris
To the listeners at home. Incoming. 10 trivia questions. Play along with Dan and Evan. Write them down. See if you can get the connection faster than they can or if they can even get it. You bums. Jesus. And I think I shoved this up his hoop. Ev. I think I made this easy enough for you. But there's a couple hard ones. There's a couple maybe you have to come back to.
Evan
Yeah, dude.
Chris
See? We'll see. All right, question number one.
Dan Powers
Yep.
Chris
Former BlackBerry CEO Jim. How do you say his name? Balsilli Belt. I think so. What a movie.
Dan Powers
Yeah, that movie.
Evan
I didn't. I didn't see that.
Chris
It's awesome. Evan, you should watch it.
Dan Powers
Oh, it's so good.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
I'm going to say. What did you say?
Dan Powers
I think it's Balsily.
Chris
Balsily. So we're going to say Balsily and Jim. I'm sorry if that's wrong. Former BlackBerry.
Dan Powers
Kind of a dickhead.
Chris
Former BlackBerry CEO Jim Dickhead. Balsley Try tried to relocate multiple NHL teams to Hamilton, Ontario. It would have been the first NHL team in Hamilton since the 1920. 1925 Hamilton Blanks.
Evan
Okay.
Chris
Back then, that would have made them another member of the trivia question where you share a mascot with another professional team. Pairing up with this squad in Detroit.
Dan Powers
It is. You really made that easy. I had it right off the bat, but we got it.
Evan
Is it Tiger?
Dan Powers
Yep. That's what we're. That's what we're going to say.
Chris
That's what you think it is Because I cannot confirm. I cannot confirm nor deny that. Okay, question number two. The Boston Bruins usually go by this nickname, confusing fans into thinking their mascot isn't a bear, but a blank.
Evan
Okay.
Dan Powers
Bees.
Evan
Yep. Easy. Bees.
Dan Powers
Bees.
Evan
My. My college mascot were the Scad Bees. We had black and yellow colors. We were the Bees.
Chris
Black and yellow.
Dan Powers
Black and yellow.
Evan
But we were in art school, so we didn't have like, our sports were, like, Harry Potter, Quidditch and stuff.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
And, like, frogs, actually.
Chris
A good sport to be a bee in.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
Great.
Evan
Yeah. You're buzzing around.
Dan Powers
You know what? I really like it. Like, what TCU is the Horned Frogs. Not just the frogs. Like, I think Honeybee would be a sick, masculine.
Evan
Well, that's true. Yeah.
Chris
Good point, Dan. Bumblebee.
Evan
Let's make it more specific.
Dan Powers
Bumblebee is a little soft. No offense. Bumblebees.
Chris
Bumblebees are way scarier. What, then a honeybee? Honeybee can't even sting you.
Dan Powers
Bumblebees and honeybees are our friends.
Chris
Bumblebees have that fat dump they got.
Dan Powers
They're dragging wagons.
Evan
Yeah, man.
Chris
Fat ass. Fat ass.
Dan Powers
And that's why I like them.
Chris
That's why it'd be a good mascot, dude. The chicks, the girls teams, they would be.
Dan Powers
That would be. It would be good if you were a cheerleader and you had a dumper and you were like, I'm a bumblebee.
Chris
Or the boys. The boys are down there fucking the boy cheerleaders.
Dan Powers
Have you seen a male cheerleader's ass?
Evan
Dude?
Dan Powers
They're like hockey players. They have fat cakes. It's amazing.
Evan
Lift with your legs.
Dan Powers
Yes.
Chris
Okay. Question number three.
Dan Powers
Yep.
Chris
In hockey, this one you will get for sure. This one's easy. In hockey, if you make a perfect pass, you blank it. Tape to tape.
Dan Powers
I'm gonna say snap. I love snapping a pass.
Chris
Tape to tape. Are you good with that, Evan?
Dan Powers
Well, we.
Evan
Yeah. Yeah. I'll defer to you. You're more of the expert. I was also gonna say wire, but that might be more of a shot saying.
Dan Powers
That's a good one, too. But, yeah, I think wire is a shot.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
We also didn't. We don't need to lock them in yet.
Evan
Yeah, that's fine.
Chris
Okay, ready? Question number four. When the NHL announced the idea for the Winter Classic, it wasn't actually the temperature that was worrying anyone. It was actually goalies complaining this would be distracting. Often wearing eye black to help the issue.
Evan
Yep. Got it.
Dan Powers
The light of the moon.
Evan
Yes. I was gonna say that. That pesky moonlight.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
Question number five. There are currently ten.
Dan Powers
I already know the connection. This is awesome.
Chris
There are currently 10 NHL teams without one of these, including the Ducks and the Blackhawks captain.
Evan
Yeah. That has to make sense. Yeah.
Chris
Question six. With the second coolest helmet in college hockey to match their iconic football helmet, this team has one of the smaller but most famous mascots in college athletics. What is it?
Dan Powers
Say it again.
Chris
With the second coolest helmet in college hockey to match their iconic football helmet, this team has one of the smaller but most famous mascots in all of college athletics. What is it?
Dan Powers
Oh, a little leprechaun man. Little leprechaun man.
Evan
Oh.
Dan Powers
Got to get your lucky charms.
Evan
Yeah. That's Notre Dame.
Dan Powers
Yes, the Notre Dame golden domers.
Chris
Question number seven. Charlie McVeigh played for the Blackhawks and the New York Americans from 1926 to 1935 and was given this nickname for his blazing speed and his uncanny ability to jump over opponents sticks. Charlie Blank McVeigh.
Dan Powers
Damn
Evan
frog. Froggy to leap.
Dan Powers
Maybe Frogger. We'll come back to it.
Chris
Question number eight. The Washington Capitals. Team Blank has the easiest job at the franchise considering OVI orders takeout from Mama Lucia's before every game.
Dan Powers
Chef, I would imagine it's chef. Yes.
Evan
Gotta be.
Chris
Question number nine. The Blank coupe is the legendary skate sharpening shop and informal museum at Shattuck St. Mary's Run by Steve Blank Erickson. Considering he sharpened Crosby, Taze and Parise skates, it's not surprising that this coupe has a little bit more bite than the traditional coupe.
Evan
Coupe De Ville. Traditional coop.
Chris
The Blank coop.
Dan Powers
The Blank coop feels like chicken coop. Makes sense.
Evan
He said bite, so, yeah.
Dan Powers
Yeah,
Evan
Coop.
Chris
Okay. Which ones do you feel confident about?
Evan
A lot of them I feel pretty confident about. There's only a couple that we're maybe stumped on.
Dan Powers
I feel like frog one.
Evan
I don't know.
Dan Powers
We're saying. We're saying the. The. The. Sorry, the.
Chris
The.
Dan Powers
The skate sharpening coupe has more bite than a traditional coupe.
Chris
Yes.
Dan Powers
Okay, so then I feel like chicken coop could be correct.
Chris
And this is truly the skate sharpening shop at Shattock St Mary's it is called the Blank Coupe, named after Steve Blank Erickson.
Dan Powers
I feel like it would be. I mean, is Steve's name Steve Chicken Erickson?
Evan
No. Oh, you mean his nickname.
Chris
That's his nickname. They call him Steve Blank Erickson. And that Blank is the same as the Blank Coop.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Okay, then it's gotta be Chicken. That seems like a cool nickname.
Dan Powers
I mean, maybe it's Rooster, though.
Evan
Oh, yeah. But do roosters have a coop?
Dan Powers
I'm not familiar with a rooster, Cooper. But they do hang out in the chicken coop.
Evan
Hen house. There's henhouses?
Dan Powers
Well, let me. All right, so I feel great about tigers. I feel great about bees. I feel great about Snap. I feel great about Sun. I feel great about Captain. I feel great about leprechaun.
Evan
Yep.
Dan Powers
I feel Unsure about Frogger, Chef and chicken.
Chris
Okay.
Evan
I think I know exactly what this connection is.
Dan Powers
Are you thinking cereal mascots?
Evan
Yes. I was going to say touch the tiger.
Dan Powers
I'm thinking cereal mascots.
Evan
Yeah. This is actually really great.
Dan Powers
So I think. Let's go through this. I think we've got tons. Tony the Tiger.
Evan
Yep.
Dan Powers
Bees. Bees.
Evan
The Cheerios.
Dan Powers
Honey Nut. Cheerios is a bee, right?
Evan
Yep.
Dan Powers
What the fuck's that guy's name? He's got a name. Snap. Is Snap, Crackle and Pop.
Evan
Yep. One of the three.
Dan Powers
Sun. I think we're going Raisin Bran.
Evan
That's Raisin Bran.
Dan Powers
That's Raisin Bran. Captain. We're going Captain Crunch. My guy. Leprechaun. We're going Lucky Charms. Now, I think Frogger or Frog works because the apple smacks. Frog.
Evan
Yeah. Was it Honey smacks? Apple smacks.
Dan Powers
Honey smacks. Yeah. Honey smacks. Apple smacks. That's a frog. Now, Chef, I'm lost on. Can we get that question one more time?
Chris
Yep. The Washington Capitals team blank has the easiest job at the franchise, considering OVI orders takeout from Mama Lucia's before every game.
Evan
It's Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Chef.
Dan Powers
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a chef.
Evan
He's a chef.
Dan Powers
Good job.
Evan
Yeah, man.
Dan Powers
I wouldn't have known that. And then rooster or chicken, I bet. But I think it's a rooster. It's like corn Flakes is like a big rooster.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
So I'm gonna go.
Evan
Or a chicken. We're not. I'm not on that one.
Dan Powers
I think he's some kind of foul. I think. I think he's a rooster. We're going to lock in. Our connection is serial mascots. And we are going to lock in Tiger, Bees, Snap, Sun, Captain, Leprechaun, Frog, Chef, and Rooster.
Chris
Let me give you one question one more time.
Dan Powers
Oh, shit. Okay.
Chris
And I think you and I also want to say on the record, your connection is absolutely correct. Great job, boys.
Evan
It's fun. It's a good one.
Chris
And I think there's a chance your answers are right. Anyway. Like, there's one question that you don't have the answer I expect, but I think you may have backdoored your way into interesting. Yep. Question number seven.
Dan Powers
Okay. Ah, Frog.
Chris
And you missed one piece of it.
Dan Powers
Okay.
Chris
Charlie McVeigh played for the Blackhawks and the New York Americans from 1926 to 1935 and was given this nickname for his blazing speed and his uncanny ability to jump over opponent's sticks.
Evan
Oh.
Dan Powers
What. What is fast and can jump a frog?
Evan
Kangaroo.
Chris
Are Frogs fast.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Dude, did you ever try to catch a frog in a pond?
Evan
Well, I was thinking more of the jumping. But yeah.
Chris
And think about the connection.
Dan Powers
Well, the apple smacks frog.
Chris
I know. That's why I said you might have backdoored your way into. But. But Charlie's nickname was not Charlie Frog. Or it wasn't Charlie Frog and Fay. It was Charlie Blank.
Dan Powers
Maybe. What? What are fast? Like cheetah. Cheetahs are fast.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Road Runners are fast. Can they jump? No, I don't think kangaroos are super fast. Don't, Chris, don't.
Evan
Now I'm just thinking. A cereal mascot.
Dan Powers
Well, that's good. I think that'll help us here. Charlie Blank McVeigh. Never heard of this clown.
Chris
Me neither. And there was a guy whose last name was the answer to. And he was also an old. And I almost used him. But this guy being universally called. This was so funny to me when I was on his Wikipedia. Like, they were like, we only called him this. He must have been so fast.
Evan
Is it Charlie Frosted wheat McVeigh? Like, I try to think like, what Charlie?
Chris
Chocolate chip cookie crisp.
Evan
Oh, well, yeah, the cop. He's not a criminal. Yeah. Cookie thief.
Dan Powers
Jesus.
Chris
Unbelievable snipe by you. Evan too. Wendell is the show.
Dan Powers
Oh, I got it. I got it, I got it.
Chris
What is it?
Dan Powers
It's gotta be a rabbit.
Evan
Oh, yeah. Tricks are for kids and rabbits jump.
Dan Powers
Rabbits jump. They're all.
Evan
Rabbits are great.
Dan Powers
So we're going to change frog to rabbit and go with the tricks rabbit. So Charlie rabbit.
Chris
Nick Vay.
Dan Powers
Ping.
Chris
Gotta be the most famous serial mascot there is.
Dan Powers
Maybe the tricks. I mean, I think Tony probably cut.
Chris
Maybe Tony. Maybe Tony.
Dan Powers
But I mean the tricks rabbit.
Evan
Also, you know that the guy who did Tony the tiger's voice sang the song. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.
Dan Powers
I didn't know. I didn't know that. But it makes perfect sense.
Evan
You're about those one Mr. Grinch. And he's really deep voice.
Dan Powers
She's a crocodile. That's also going.
Chris
They're great.
Evan
Exactly.
Chris
They're great. Wow. Yeah, I think.
Evan
And you know what? His name is Tony Thul Ravencroft.
Dan Powers
Why in the fucking world do you know this?
Evan
I have no idea, dude. Thule Ravencroft. Look it up, dude. Look up. Thor. Please check my work. Thule Ravencroft. If I'm right, I'm going to poop my pants.
Chris
Wow, dude, you should see this guy. He looks like a fucking Dracula.
Dan Powers
He's thorough.
Chris
Yeah, it's thorough.
Evan
I was close.
Dan Powers
I Mean, I count that. I count that. He's also in the Jungle Book. Dude, he's Baloo.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
No way, bro. Wow. He has an incredible career.
Evan
Yeah. I mean, he's long since dead, I think, but.
Chris
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yep. He's Tony the Tiger. Tony the Tiger from 1953 to 2005.
Dan Powers
Thorl. Ravencroft is dead as shit.
Chris
What a.
Dan Powers
This guy fucking. He. He was lived.
Chris
Lived to. Oh, five. He only gave up Tony when this
Dan Powers
guy probably was rich as fuck. Dude, he's a voice in literally everything.
Evan
Yeah, there you go.
Chris
Holy shit. He's from Nebraska. That's incredible.
Dan Powers
I mean, this guy's catalog of work is insane.
Chris
He's one of the pirates in Peter Pan gas.
Dan Powers
Unbelievable.
Evan
Yeah, there you go.
Dan Powers
He was a mouse in Cinderella. He was the card painter in Alice in Wonderland.
Evan
A lot of Disney stuff.
Dan Powers
Oh, yeah. He's in lady and the Tramp. Wonder what the fuck names Mary Poppins. He's a hog I used to know
Evan
when I was a kid. We had a family friend. His. His first name was Hurl, which is an interesting first name.
Dan Powers
You know what really bums me out is there I'm looking at so many of these and it says like some, you know, movie voice, uncredited. And I'm like, why? Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's in it.
Chris
Right, right, right.
Evan
Well, sometimes those guys were under contract and then, like, they wouldn't get a specific credit. They would just come in for like 40 minutes and do a voice and they're like, all right, you're done.
Dan Powers
And then like, that is dog shit.
Evan
They just don't keep good records.
Chris
Oh, he's also Jeffrey the giraffe for Toys R Us.
Evan
Oh, wow. I didn't know Jeffrey talked.
Chris
That's incredible.
Dan Powers
Do you remember when Toys R Us.
Chris
Jeffrey Dollars.
Dan Powers
Remember when that was insane? It was like Schrute Bucks.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Remember when Toys R Us closed and they put up that sign of Jeffrey, like, waving and it said like, I guess everyone's all grown up. The decision for Toys R Us to shame us is such a good move. Yeah, Like, Toys R Us goes out of business and they go, it's your fault.
Evan
And then they made the great move of being like, you know, we're gonna come back, but only in the back of a Macy's.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Which are such a booming business. Like, guys, dude, I guess everyone has grown up.
Chris
There's no more Toys R Us, kids.
Evan
I used to fucking love going to Toys R Us. My mom was like, all right, we're gonna go to Toys R Us today.
Dan Powers
I was like, that is so stoked. It's. I mean, they truly. They're shaming us.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Says. I guess. I guess everyone has grown up. There's no Toys R Us kids. There's no more Toys R Us kids. What the fuck, dude?
Evan
Fuck.
Dan Powers
Why'd you get. Why did you have to. Why'd you have to make this about us?
Evan
Do you remember when you were a kid and you'd get toys and it would come with, like, a little. Like a little booklet of the other toys you could get? Yeah, like, starting lineup. Batman toys.
Dan Powers
Oh, yeah, dude. I mean, Chris told that story where we used to. Like, our uncle used to bring us to Toys R Us. And then the first day, Chris was like, can we go to Dick's? But it was called MVP Sports.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
But, like, that did happen. Yeah. I grew up one day and I was like, I would rather get a new pair of cleats. A Griffey shirt.
Evan
Yep. Yeah, that happens. It's tough, I guess. We all grown up.
Chris
We grown up. My next game for you guys that I saw, I was a top 10 list. It's in this doc. So don't look. I'm going to unblank it so I can see it.
Evan
I'm not gonna look.
Chris
And this actually blew my mind.
Dan Powers
My hands are up here.
Chris
Only 10 people ever have finished an NHL season with over 400 shots on goal. And some of them have done it multiple times, but only 10 people ever. And I want to see. I was going to give you guys three strikes, but it's kind of hard, so I just want to see if you can get it at all.
Dan Powers
Yeah, let's. Let's. I mean, this has got to be. We'll start with Ovechkin.
Chris
Ovechkin. Alex Ovechkin. Correct. He's done it three times.
Dan Powers
So is that three of our ten? No, no, no.
Chris
There's ten people. He has a 425, a 446, and a second highest ever, 528.
Dan Powers
Holy shit.
Chris
Only two people have ever gone over five.
Dan Powers
Okay, let's go.
Chris
Wayne Wayno. Incorrect. Wow, he's a fish.
Evan
Wait, so can I ask you a question?
Dan Powers
That is crazy.
Evan
That can't be true.
Dan Powers
The fact that Wayne has, like, a 99 goal season.
Chris
Why would he shoot if wasn't going in? You dumb. That's true.
Evan
Because when you say shot on goal, that means it didn't go in, right?
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
A goal counts.
Chris
That is also one.
Dan Powers
That's why. That's why I'm thinking Goal scorers. Like, if you're scoring 50 plus goals in the league, you probably have shot. Yeah.
Chris
And I'll tell you, everyone on this list is a prolific goal scorer. And one of the guys there was. I should find it again. But one of them has, like a really high goal total that season, which is sick because that means he was also efficient.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
But some of the other ones, I'm like, damn, these are a lot of shots.
Evan
Can I just say Rocket Richard.
Chris
Great guess. Incorrect.
Dan Powers
Wow. All right. Maybe you stay away from the old, old. What about Jagger? Jagger felt like a good guess.
Chris
Yarmer Yagur Dan. He's done it once and he's. He's the lowest on the list. 403.
Dan Powers
Wow. Okay. Who's scoring?
Evan
Also long. No. Yeah.
Dan Powers
How many of these guys are current?
Chris
Current only other than ovi. Yeah, sorry. There are two more currents.
Dan Powers
Two more currents.
Evan
Okay.
Chris
But to your point, Dan, no one
Dan Powers
is
Chris
older than the. There are two guys from the 70s, but you will know them. Okay. And then there's like an 80s and then there's like a 90s. 2000s. Yeah.
Dan Powers
Can I get a Mike Bossy?
Chris
No. Also great guess. But he. Because he scores 60 goals every season.
Dan Powers
I know.
Chris
It was easy.
Dan Powers
It was easy for him.
Chris
Too easy.
Dan Powers
All right, what about mess?
Chris
Nope.
Dan Powers
Okay.
Evan
Fuck.
Dan Powers
Jesus.
Evan
Stamkos.
Chris
Oh, no. But, God, there's Stamkos like guys on here. Like, that's a good trend, right? And who'd you say before Max Bossi? Oh, yeah. No. Okay. All right.
Dan Powers
But we got two current. Let's get the currents. This would be mind blowing to me. No, I was gonna say pasta, but I don't think there's any way it's pasta, so I'm not guessing. Pasta. How do you feel about Nate Dog? He doesn't feel like that much of a shooter to me, but at the same time, he's got multiple 50 goal seasons. And I feel like sometimes Nate goes nuclear and he's just ripping the puck.
Evan
Yeah, I'm fine with that.
Dan Powers
Let's go, Nate Dog.
Chris
Nate Dog. 405.
Evan
There we go.
Chris
He's done it one time. Very good. Wow. Okay, so from the bottom up, it's Yaga 403. Nate 405.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
And then we have two 407s.
Dan Powers
Okay. And we've got one more.
Chris
One of. One of the 407s is a current.
Dan Powers
One of the 407s is a Current. Is one of these guys a former teammate of mine? No.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
I didn't think so.
Evan
It's not Nikita, right?
Dan Powers
I can't imagine.
Chris
So.
Evan
No.
Dan Powers
Okay. Who are prolific? Ooh, Maybe Kaner.
Chris
Nope.
Dan Powers
Okay. There's one more current.
Chris
The one more current. There's one more current. And he's not very old. As in, like, you know, he's not like this.
Evan
He's not 40.
Dan Powers
I mean, is it Connor?
Chris
No.
Dan Powers
No.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
I'd be curious. I'm gonna check what his highest is, because I was wondering that too.
Dan Powers
Yeah. I was like, there's no way it's Connor. Okay. Not very old, a prolific goal scorer in the NHL.
Chris
Connor had a 352 once.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
It's the only time he was even remotely close.
Dan Powers
I mean, Is it pasta?
Chris
It is pasta.
Evan
Oh, man.
Dan Powers
I'm like, who else is a prolific goal scorer?
Evan
You almost took yourself out of that.
Chris
It is pasta. 407.
Dan Powers
Holy shit.
Chris
Okay.
Evan
There you go.
Chris
Okay, so your currents are done. Your. There's one defenseman. Whoa.
Dan Powers
Or Bobby orr.
Chris
Bobby Orr. 413. Yep. And then it's like, how many.
Dan Powers
How many else do we have?
Chris
You have 1, 2, 3, 4. You have five more. You've gotten five. Jesus Christ. One is two. Two are like. Think great shots. Like some of the best shots in NHL history. One is a. Like, prolific goals. Prolific, prolific goal scorer. And one is like a Stamkosi. Flashy goal scorer. And then one is pretty hard. But I'll give you that one last. Because you're not good. You know, he is, but I'm just shocked he's on this list.
Dan Powers
Okay, so not Wayne. Not Mess. I'm going to get. Oh, I love Mike Madonna. Let's guess Mike Madonna.
Chris
Incorrect. But I'm pretty sure the guy won a cup with Madonna. Brett Hall. Bret Hull.
Evan
There we go.
Chris
408.
Dan Powers
I was ready to guess Brett Hull. Can I get a Phil Esposito?
Chris
Phil Esposito has done it thrice.
Evan
Damn.
Dan Powers
Fuck, yeah.
Chris
4:11. He just.
Dan Powers
He scored so many goals and he said 70s earlier. So I was like, 411.
Chris
426. And an NHL record 550.
Dan Powers
Espo's one.
Chris
Oh, yeah. In the year he scored 76, he shot 550 times.
Dan Powers
Okay, so we've added Hull and Espo. So we have three more.
Chris
So you have Espo, ovi. And then the third highest, not counting, like, Espo and OVI being over. You don't have. Okay, the fourth highest you don't have then. Or Brett Hall. Pasta. Tied with pasta. You don't have. Nate. Dog yoga.
Dan Powers
Okay, so we have. But we have Three more. You're missing or four more.
Chris
One, two, three more. I think three more.
Dan Powers
Yeah. Is Pavel Bure on there? Ooh, yes. Wow.
Chris
Pavel Bure tied with pasta. 407. That was like, the stamcos he won. I was like, oh, yeah, that'd be good. So you're missing incredible shot. Go and goal score. And then the other one is trying to think of a good hint here. Incredible player, but never a. Like, I don't think he's a Hall of Famer.
Dan Powers
Ah.
Chris
And right on the bubble. He probably should be in my book, but he's right on the bubble.
Evan
And.
Chris
And never, like, the best player in the league, but was the face of a team for a time. Like, there was a face. There was a guy or everyone you think of this one team, everyone, like a winner.
Dan Powers
Did he win Cups and stuff?
Chris
He never won a cup.
Dan Powers
Face of a franchise. Never.
Evan
It's not Jeremy Roenick, is it?
Dan Powers
No.
Chris
That is a very good guess, though. Like, that exact comp of, like, everyone thinks Roenick sick. Is he. Is he hall of Famer?
Evan
They never won a cup.
Chris
He couldn't get in the.
Evan
Oh, he's not a Hall of Famer,
Chris
you know, but he is.
Evan
There he is.
Chris
He just got in, though, like that. The Ronit career ev is a great
Evan
start.
Dan Powers
Face of a franchise. And then the other guy. Can I get an era for this other guy with a great shot?
Chris
Let me just make sure I give you the right years.
Dan Powers
Yeah, fair. I feel like with those great hints, I have a guess for the next guy, but it feels this guy's also 70s.
Chris
I mean, like, also 60s. Honestly, 60s.
Dan Powers
Oh, shit.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
It feels insane to me that this person would have this many shots.
Chris
You're about to think of.
Dan Powers
Yes. The. The face of a franchise who's never won a cup and is not in the hall of Fame. I feel like it's one person or
Chris
not one person, but
Dan Powers
is it Paul Korea?
Chris
It is Paul Korea. What? 429 shots one time. I.1 year. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
Dan Powers
The guy was fucking spraying. That is unbelievable.
Chris
Saying, dude, I never would have got that.
Dan Powers
Holy shit. Good hints, good hints, good hints. 6,070s.
Chris
Let me see. Career high 58 goals, but went over 54 times. Oh, no, sorry. Career high 77 goals.
Dan Powers
Jesus.
Chris
And that was in the 70s. Went over 50 multiple times.
Dan Powers
Oh, Bobby Hull. Yes.
Chris
Both Hulls. They taught one thing in that family.
Dan Powers
Shoot the fucking. Shoot the fucking biscuit. Possible.
Chris
Bobby hall did it twice. 408 to tie his son and 414.
Dan Powers
So let me look at this. Espo. Ovi. Korea. I can't believe Korea is that high. Bobby Hull, Brad Hull, Bobby Orr, Pasta Bure, Nate Dogg and Jagger. I love that Nate. Dog's out.
Evan
Me too. Is that all of them?
Chris
That's it. That's 10.
Dan Powers
Wow. Snap it around, Nate.
Chris
I wonder if we'll see. Like, I guess Nate. Nate and pasta could do it, but I'm curious if anyone else will. Could get on that list. Actually, let me look at this.
Dan Powers
I think we should get Tage on that list.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Dan, like, who led the league last year in shots? Let's see.
Chris
And I also want to see who's been close. So Ovi has a 398 and a 395. So he's. He could come again.
Evan
Is it. It's got to be McKinnon right now.
Chris
The pasta has. So pasta also is a 382. Matthews has a 369. I could see.
Dan Powers
Oh, yeah, Austin.
Chris
I could see him getting there. That's the year he scored 69 goals. So we do need more of that. Nice. Any other actives ov. Nate. Nate. Oh, interesting. 357, which isn't that close, but. 357. Brady Kachuk.
Dan Powers
Wow.
Evan
Brady.
Chris
Brady makes a bit at it.
Evan
I'm gonna.
Dan Powers
You know what, Brady? I'm gonna need more goals from you.
Chris
Yep. Wow. Brent Burns. 353 in 2015. 2016.
Dan Powers
Incredible. What was last year? What was the shots later last year?
Evan
I think it was McKinnon at 350. That's what I'm seeing here on Hockey Reference.
Dan Powers
Sick.
Chris
I love Nate. Shoots the puck. Nate's on here a lot, dude. Yeah, like, he's got like a365, a366.
Dan Powers
Nate is an all time player.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
Hey, that was fun.
Chris
Crazy list. I was very surprised to see the list. So I wanted to ask you guys.
Dan Powers
Yeah. All right. Let's take a quick ad break and then jump on back in.
Chris
BetMGM is always making things more fun. I love playing around in that app. And you will too, because they are turning up the excitement with more ways to win. You can score in any sport. Parlay boost token. Every Thursday this summer. Every single week. I know. You're like, well, not next week, certainly. And I'm like, no, seriously, next week. It's still there. Every Thursday. And then you elevate your next bet. It is so simple. You add a parlay wager to your bet slip from any game that you want. Anything that's intriguing to you bang, put a parlay on there. Then you just activate the sport parl. Any sport parlay boost token. If your wager hits, you enjoy extra winnings thanks to your boost token in unrestricted bonus dollars. That sounds pretty sick, doesn't it? If you haven't signed up for BetMGM yet, use that promo code, Netters. That's N, E T T E R S. And when you sign up, you get up to $1,500 in a new player offer on your first. First wager. So you make that first wager, you make it a parlay, use the boost token, you get your new player offer, bonus code netters. Oh, my God. BetMGM. Make it legendary. We've been talking a lot of movies. We were talking Spider Man. We're talking Odyssey. EV Just saw Odyssey. Very exciting.
Evan
Loved it.
Chris
Loved it.
Evan
Might be my favorite Nolan movie.
Chris
Wow. Okay.
Dan Powers
Yeah. Is it really?
Evan
It might be. I don't know. I need more time with it.
Chris
Yeah, you got to sit with me.
Evan
I just. I still love Dark Knight and Inception
Dan Powers
and the Prestige, I think.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
Let.
Dan Powers
Give yourself some time and don't be a prisoner of the moment.
Evan
You're right.
Dan Powers
I also think a big thing for me was, you know, you don't need to go to the theater again. Like, me, a psychopath, but see it again. And I think you might be like, I mean, listen, I loved it, but
Evan
I'm gonna see it in a different format. I'm gonna watch it on the back of an airplane seat.
Dan Powers
Yeah, yeah, there you go.
Chris
Watch it on your watch.
Dan Powers
On your cell phone.
Evan
Watch it on my phone.
Chris
But anyway, this. And I actually should have written down where this was. Cause I saw it. But recently, Spider Man's out, and everyone's seeing it.
Evan
Yep, recently.
Dan Powers
The cinema is so back, dude. We like.
Evan
We are.
Dan Powers
We have bounced back.
Evan
I love it.
Dan Powers
It's all Tom Holland. We have only Tom Holland.
Chris
Yeah. Double Tom.
Evan
Yeah, I can speak more on that.
Chris
Double Tom.
Dan Powers
Double Tom.
Evan
I got more on him later. Little tease.
Dan Powers
Okay.
Chris
Whoa.
Dan Powers
I can't wait for that. No, no, no, because. Hey, same.
Evan
Okay, well, we'll talk about it later.
Dan Powers
Okay.
Chris
Well, recently, at a. Spider Man.
Dan Powers
I love Tom so much.
Chris
Someone farted in the theater, saw this, and it emptied. They had to clear out the whole theater and stop the screen.
Dan Powers
Was it real?
Evan
That's amazing.
Dan Powers
So that wasn't a fake story?
Chris
No, no. Oh, the story's real. I don't know if it was a fake fart. Like, did he.
Evan
Oh, you mean, like, did he have a stink Bomb.
Chris
But people are saying he didn't. He's like, no, no, I farted.
Evan
Did he know what he ate?
Chris
So here's. I have a lot of questions.
Evan
I also have a side story to relate to this.
Chris
Okay, first of all, I just want to know, just knee jerk. Is this funny or not funny to you?
Evan
How is it not funny?
Chris
This is the funniest thing I've ever heard.
Dan Powers
I think this is.
Evan
Did they get refund?
Chris
That was my next question.
Dan Powers
Absolutely hysterical. I think it's absolutely hysterical. And also, I would have not left. I would have been like this. I will fight through it. Keep playing the movie. I don't care how bad I would have fought through. But I have been on record as a Patrick Bateman, psychopath, clean freak, OCD lunatic. I also find things like farting, pooping, and puking so funny.
Evan
They're great.
Dan Powers
I've told you guys a million times, anytime someone pukes, I'm like this.
Chris
Yeah, yeah. Yes, yes.
Dan Powers
More, more. I love it when someone pukes. I think it's the funniest thing in the world. And then when I smell it and I start gagging, I also think that's funny.
Chris
Farts. Farts get me going.
Dan Powers
Farting is so fun.
Chris
It's just like the child in me. But, dude, have you seen.
Dan Powers
Have you seen that video where that guy is, like, whispering to his Alexa and he's like, alexa, fart for me. And like, Alexa farts. And it's like the nastiest. Oh, yeah, it's like a nasty.
Evan
Hold on.
Dan Powers
Let's try this right now. Ready?
Chris
Yeah, this would be great.
Dan Powers
Hey, Siri, can you play me a fart noise?
Evan
Why is it not stopping?
Dan Powers
No, it's still going. Why is it going so long?
Evan
You said a fart noise. Not all of the fart noises.
Dan Powers
It just.
Evan
It's. It won't stop.
Chris
I was not expecting this.
Dan Powers
It has opened up a playlist called fart fest. Over 1,000 farts.
Chris
One hour.
Dan Powers
It's a one. One hour, one hour playlist of farts.
Chris
Expecting. Dude. So clearly I love a fart. My next question after, did they get their money back? Oh, guys, I assume they didn't.
Dan Powers
That is the most automatic clip that has ever existed.
Chris
I can't help but feel like people in the theater were overreacting, because how bad could this far take in a. In a presumably reasonably big movie theater possibly be? Yeah, like, literally, dude, the fart was so bad that people were like, we have to leave. That feels insane.
Evan
My only thought is that he had to have shit himself.
Dan Powers
Had to have shit.
Evan
Because if a fart will dissipate, but if there's an active turd situation, then that'll linger. And it's bad because it's a plane.
Chris
Remember, like the person diarrhea on the plane and they had to land. Yeah. They were like, yo.
Dan Powers
Also, it's. We always talk. If you go camping and you, like, have to take a shit outside and you actually smell your poop when it is not isolated by water, you're like, holy, that smells.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
So I would imagine this dude shat himself.
Chris
Okay? So he.
Dan Powers
And he's probably running around going like this, oh, I'm sorry. I ate a lot of clams earlier.
Evan
I farted.
Dan Powers
I farted.
Evan
Yeah, you shit yourself.
Dan Powers
But it's like this. You have a dump in your pants, pal.
Chris
Okay, so he has sharted.
Dan Powers
This man has sharted.
Evan
Here's the thing, okay? I went to see Killers of the Flower Moon a couple years ago, right? And somebody in the theater pulled the fire alarm, so everybody had to evacuate.
Dan Powers
Can I ask a question?
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Was that scary? Because, like, that would have. I. I still get spooked when I am in a movie theater and you
Evan
think there's an active shooter.
Dan Powers
When I think about the Dark Knight.
Evan
Oh, me too. Yeah.
Dan Powers
That if I heard a fire alarm, I. I'd be throwing bodies in front of me.
Chris
I'd be losing my.
Evan
No, I'll be honest with you. It happened when my wife went to the bathroom. So I was like, did she, like, light up a cigarette in the woman's stall or something? Like, you know, I was like, what did you do? You know?
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Not that she's an activist smoker, but like, I was like, sometimes, you know. But no, I was afraid that they were going to restart the whole movie because it's a three hour movie. They let everybody leave. We waited around till, like, they did their P's and Q's and then we all came back in and they restarted the film at the same time.
Dan Powers
Oh, nice.
Evan
So I'm like, in that instance, I didn't need a refund. We just continued the movie. But, like, did they continue the film? Is what I would need to know.
Chris
Like, did they clean the poop up? And then.
Dan Powers
Well, that's why I think he probably shat himself. Because they were probably like, we need to like, clean hazmat. Yeah, like, if there's like shit on the seat, we need to like, this is bad. You can get disease from.
Chris
Yes, you can. Okay, so this actually changes if it's Shit. It's a different call. But I was wondering, what is the largest venue? Because again, I'm almost with you, Dan. I'm like, I'm good. Like, I'll just fuck him. Yeah, I'm watching the movie.
Evan
Yeah. It'll go away in five minutes less.
Chris
So I'm wondering, plane. I kind of get pretty small tube circulating air. Theater feels insane to me.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
What is the largest venue that you think a fart or a shart in this case could. Could clear out? Wow. Like if I'm in. If, if I'm in Sofi, it has to.
Dan Powers
No, not leaving. Yeah, because like we're outside.
Chris
But even Sofi is fine. And like take an indoor crypto.
Dan Powers
I don't think there's any stadium, any professional stadium that you could clear.
Chris
Someone farted and they're like, as we gotta go.
Dan Powers
Those are too big. But hey, if we're talking like a call a D3 college stadium maybe.
Chris
Really?
Dan Powers
Maybe. I don't know. But probably not. Because a theater, I don't even buy a theater.
Chris
Like how.
Evan
Yeah, there are some really small theaters and if the AC wasn't working, maybe.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Listen, we all know we've all been here before. Don't lie.
Evan
I farted.
Dan Powers
I have farted before. There have been times where it's like you're hungover or you've just like eaten. Eaten something insane and you are just sitting in your house farting up a storm. Blowing, farting and in the bathtubs and laughing your ass off. And you will like get up and leave the apartment or your house and come back within a short amount of time and it still smells like fart.
Evan
Oh, yeah.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
And you're like, oh my God, dude, I have polluted this home. That, that is a. We've all been. There is a moment where you realize what your farts are capable of.
Chris
Yeah. Correct.
Dan Powers
So yeah.
Chris
Do either of you recall any of your all time farts? Like times when you've been like, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I've done here.
Dan Powers
I can't recall a time where I've like upset another human. Where it's like someone is like, I literally have to leave this room.
Evan
I've got a good one.
Dan Powers
But I've had a couple of post workout protein farts that I'm like, dude, what is happening inside you?
Chris
Yep. Well, okay. I want to hear yours, Evan. And then I want to give a Dan story from my pod. I have my own.
Evan
You got bombed. I was. This must have been my 13th or 14th birthday. And me and my buddies who were all similar age, we were with my sister, older sister. And in my family, we make this thing that's regional to the eastern Ohio, Pittsburgh area called a pepperoni roll, which is something that they used to make.
Dan Powers
Sounds awesome.
Evan
Yeah. Coal miners would bring them down to the coal mines because it was like a easy, ready made sandwich. Basically. It's like you get dough, you put some pepperoni, you put cheese in it, you wrap it up, put a little butter on top, you bake it for 15 minutes, and it's like. It's like a little pizza roll. But it's homemade, you know, it's like
Dan Powers
a homemade hot pocket.
Evan
Yeah, basically. Yeah. There's just no sauce involved, which you could, in theory, dip some sauce if you wanted. Yeah. But anyway, just me and my buddies were just eating these, like all night. And between the three of us, we blew up that house. My poor sister. Like, every three minutes was another rip. Just horrible birthday party farts. So. That I do remember because it was so much.
Chris
Yeah. She was in hell.
Evan
Yeah. I think we took some, like, years off of her life.
Chris
It was volume. It was a volume game, dude.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
So I had a bad fart.
Chris
Well, it was just this. This has happened to me with you before.
Evan
Where?
Chris
And I also want to admit that. And I think this is part of like the pressure and altitude. But I feel as though on planes, I'm farting all the time.
Dan Powers
You fart more on planes.
Chris
I'm literally just like, yeah. And hook them up to the. I find that it's almost like they don't really stink. Cause I'm just like. I don't know, it's like my body's just like getting gas pushed out of me because of the high altitude impression. But I've been on planes a few times and I presume everyone else is doing that too. Like, I don't begrudge anyone a toot. But sometimes Dan, like you just said, we'll have. We're flying together. And he's like, I gotta get a workout in before we go. So he like hit pumps the gym and then hammers a ton of protein. And then we'll get on the plane and he will fart and it will be one of those protein farts. And it's on the scale of clearing out a plane fart. It's not bad at all, but it is a protein fart. So then we. We're like right next to each other and I. You fart and I. I smell it because I'm like, oh, there's a Dan protein fart. And all I can think is the other person in our three seater row could obviously smell this too. And I don't know how to make it. So clearly not me. You know, I'm like, that was him.
Dan Powers
That's the law of airplanes, though, is if you fart, we're in this, you can never know who it is.
Evan
Yeah. You always have plausible deniability when there's more than two people.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
That's why on an elevator, you always want three or more.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Did I tell you guys this story? I was actually on an international flight. I think I was flying home from Zurich and I sat down in my seat and there was a. I was actually in like first class, or I wasn't in business class. I was in like a premium plus or whatever. And this like, young kid sits down next to me and then his dad next to him. And this kid is ripping ass. Like, rip. He's ripping ass. And we haven't even taken off yet. Like, audibly ripping ass. I can hear it. And like, it smells real bad. And I like, I. I'm never one to be like this.
Chris
Yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
Cause it's just so. Especially to a kid. I was like this. I'm gonna ruin this kid's life, dude. But I'm. I. There was one moment where I was like, oof, dude. Like, this is like, this is a lot.
Chris
You're pooping your butt.
Dan Powers
Yeah. And I. Again, I didn't say anything, but I was like, jeez.
Evan
All right.
Dan Powers
And eventually the kid gets up and he goes to the bathroom, and I'm like, oh, you had to poop, dude. Yeah, just a little kid afraid to poop. And he gets up, like, walks over his dad, goes into the bathroom, and I just feel a tap on my leg. And I turn and it's like the guy, he's leaned over and he's like tapped me on the leg. And I'm just looking at him and he goes, he's a good kid,
Evan
despite all evidence.
Dan Powers
I was like, I'm sure he is, dude. Like, what the. And he was. He followed it. At first I thought that's all he was gonna say.
Chris
And I was like, that is crazy.
Dan Powers
But he was like, he's just. He's got a bit of a tummy ache right now. And I was like, oh, man. I was like, it's all good, brother. Like, no worries.
Chris
All been there.
Dan Powers
But I was just like, I felt bad for the dad. Cause he was like, my kid is gassing this plane right now.
Chris
My story was gonna be Dan and I drove from Maine to California when we moved out here. And we would drive, we were driving like 16 hour days. It was so stupid. We were trying to just go so fast. So we'd literally like drive eight hours. Switch. Drive eight hours, land at place, go to bed, wake up, do it again. And dude, we were just not stopping. So every meal was just like, oh, gas station McDonald's, like chips, like whatever. And you're just in the car, dude. And it's just like, I just see like in the passenger seat, like, oh,
Evan
but are you doing, Are you doing the courtesy. Roll down the window a little bit. Just like.
Chris
I'm letting you know we just exhausted every talking point. You know, we had some podcast. We'd just be in silence, you know, we hadn't spoken like two hours. They just hear the passenger window go down and you'd be like, you're all incoming.
Dan Powers
You're also just driving on the freeway through Nebraska. So like, yeah, he's rolling down the window, but he rolls down the window and it's like, you're torturing me.
Evan
Or if you go through like the pasture fields too. And even worse outside. Did you guys have a kid? I think everybody, I think we all had a sacrificial person in our society and it was like the elementary school kid who shit his pants.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
And if you had one, what was their nickname? Mine was Stinky Steve.
Dan Powers
That Porsche alliteration.
Chris
Thank God it was Steve. Yeah, that's good.
Dan Powers
Damn. I don't think we had a name for. I can think of him. I'm not going to deadname him right now.
Evan
Well, I mean, don't give his last name. Notice how I didn't say the last name?
Dan Powers
His name began with a J. Yeah. And God, ours was a girl.
Evan
Oh, that's even worse.
Chris
Think about that.
Dan Powers
Oh, no. Yeah.
Evan
Life ruining. Life ruining.
Dan Powers
That's really bad.
Evan
Sad.
Chris
Very sad. Okay, Dan, let's take an ad break.
Dan Powers
Let's take an ad break. We gotta stop. We gotta get outta here. Lucy is the official pouch partner of Empty Netters and Almost Friday Media because it's given us the best, most premium, 100% tobacco free nicotine pouch experience in the game. When it comes to the feel and the flavor of the pouch, nothing even comes close. What milligrams do you want for 8:12? Take your pick. No matter what, it's fantastic. And I already mentioned those flavors. They are the best in the business. The mint and the wintergreen are hitting like nothing else in the game. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
Chris
Listen, as you boys know, Evan, you went through this at a time. I'm in the wedding planning era, yeah. But even more importantly, I've experienced this a lot. The wedding registry, wedding gifts are a thing. And I've been trying to be better about getting on that sooner. When my friends send me the website and the save the date and shit, I'm like, just do it, get the fucking gift now. Because I always forget like, did I get them a gift? What did I get? By the time I go to the register, everything's taken. So my first question for you two as I build to my larger point here is what is your etiquette? Individually, each of you as the gift buyer, like when your friend's getting married and you get the website and then they go, here's the registry. What is your price range and what are you looking to get? And do you always go off the registry?
Dan Powers
I think it is a not always off the registry. If it's a very good friend and there's like something that I, I know that they would love, I will get that. I think the registry is helpful though. When I think about when I get married, I'm going to curtail my registry very specifically to things that I need and want. So it's almost like at Christmas if someone's like, hey, tell me some things that you like. It's better than a random guess. So I think registry is brilliant in terms of like, listen, if that's part of our culture is getting a wedding gift, you should make a list of the things that you want, because I don't want to buy you something that you're like, I never use this.
Chris
So shouldn't you always go off the registry?
Dan Powers
Yes. But again, unless I know someone incredibly well and I'm like, I know you will love this.
Chris
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Dan Powers
But I think the smart move with the registry is you treat it like the wine list at a restaurant. You don't get the cheapest wine because then you look like a cheapskate bum.
Chris
You're a bitch.
Dan Powers
But you also don't go top shelf because, you know, we're not trying to break the bank here. So you find a nice, happy, medium thing on the registry and buy that.
Evan
Okay, Evan, I think that my contribution financially to your wedding is commiserate to how close I am with you.
Chris
Right. How much did I pay on travel?
Evan
Well, that also. But, like, if it's a real. If it's like my best friend in the world, then chances are if I get them something from the registry, it's gonna be pretty expensive. Or I'll get something that's like, just as meaningful and possibly expensive, but maybe not the exact thing they wanted. Like, if they were like, I want this. What? Whatever. And I'm like, this chair. And I'm like, ah, there's a chair that's like it, but it's even better or more interesting, and I know you'll like it better. I would maybe make that move so that it's more surprising you could do it. But it's also like, a wedding registry isn't like, Christmas where, like, you want to be like, oh, my God, I'm so surprised. It's like, just give me the fucking pots and pans that I want.
Dan Powers
Wanted.
Chris
Yes.
Evan
Because I really need those to start my life with my future partner.
Chris
Okay, so I'm actually going to jump to this point here. This and you. I think your answer, Dan, is your. Did you make one?
Evan
Did you do.
Chris
Did you do a registry?
Evan
We did. Yeah.
Chris
Okay. Yeah.
Evan
So it was awesome.
Chris
Answer this question. And Dan, you just said yours is going to be very specific. My fear with a lot of registries I see is that this whole concept comes from a forgotten era when we. When you never had lived with this person before now starting your life and you have no possessions. They're like, hey, can I have things for my house to cook with? Yeah. And now I'm like, I've lived with Sandra for a long time.
Dan Powers
We.
Evan
You.
Dan Powers
You.
Chris
I have pots and pans. And I feel like people just Go around like, ding, ding, ding, ding. And I'm like, do you need new pots and pans?
Evan
Like, don't get me. I would use it as a way to upgrade your 100%. That's what we did. Because I had all the cheap crap from, like, Target, right?
Chris
It's.
Evan
We're like, all right, you know what? We're gonna, like, if we're gonna have a few items, let's ask for, like, good quality stuff.
Dan Powers
100%, dude.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
I mean, the.
Chris
The.
Dan Powers
I. I. Listen, I love Alice more than anything in the entire world.
Chris
Truly.
Dan Powers
Fuck you. But okay. Probably the most exciting thing about me getting married is going to be the
Chris
registry just getting new shit.
Dan Powers
Because, you know, I am king practical
Chris
gift, but we don't. You don't need it. What are you gonna do with all your old pots and pans?
Evan
You right to the dominated. Oh, but, brother, take them to Goodwill.
Dan Powers
I take them to Goodwill or I toss them right in a dumpster to the Grinch. It's like the. It is. It is a pristine opportunity to just get nice things. Like, you deserve nice things in life, but I know.
Evan
And it's the only time. If you're only gonna get married once, hopefully, and if you get married a second time, they're not gonna fucking go all out pre register. So this is the one time you're allowed to be like, people are just gonna. Yeah, I'll. I'll give you that nice fucking castaway fucking pot and pan set. Because.
Dan Powers
Because, I mean, brother, I know. I mean, you know that I am. I will get myself nice things in this era because, like, I like that type of shit. But there's even. There's stuff that I'm like, this sucks. Yeah. Like, I. I mean, I. I even look at my, you know, like, my spatulas and spoons and stuff. Like, they're fine, but they're just, like, plastic spatulas that I got from, like, you know, KitchenAid or something or whatever.
Chris
And it's like, I'm gonna dap all
Dan Powers
those new ones up if I start running, if I get through the things that I, like, really need on the registry. And then I'm like, this would be nice. Hell, yeah.
Evan
And also, things age. Like, we. I'm at a point now we've been married for four years, and I'm starting to see a lot of our registry stuff. And I'm like, oh, it's sweet that we got it. It reminds me of our wedding. But I'm also like, man, the passage of time. Because now I Kind of need to upgrade it. Yeah, Yeah.
Dan Powers
I mean, dude, you. You made us keep a walk in our house that broke five years prior and was just sitting in a drawer. Cause you were like, I loved this walk in college. It was just a great walk, dude.
Chris
Great walk.
Dan Powers
And it never got fixed. I literally put it in a drawer. And I said, if in a year this is still in here broken, I'm throwing it away. And a year passed, and I went to throw it away, and you were like, you were not allowed to do that. And I was like, you were a piece of shit. You're scumbag.
Chris
So the I feel. So my next question is, do you guys like the new thing where it's like my new house fund or whatever? You know, you just go, just give them money. Here's some gifts, but just give me some money. And then I've also answer that question. But this I do like, which I've seen, which is it'll be like, hey, I want this new luggage. It's $400, but you don't have to get the whole thing. You can like, you go. It's like the luggage contributes. Oh, it's like four pieces of this luggage. So I'm like, 100 bucks now. There are like three pieces of this piece of luggage. And then Dan can be like, that's genius.
Dan Powers
Yeah, I like that because sometimes I'm
Chris
like, I don't want to do the fucking nice line. But I'm like, contribute to the night.
Evan
Yeah. Because it's almost like if you have an X amount of guests, but you don't need that many items. Like, it's not like one item per guest.
Chris
Yeah, yeah.
Evan
So now you can be like, I'd rather have these smaller quality items Contribute. I love. We. We had a honeymoon fund part of ours.
Chris
Okay.
Evan
Which was great because we were able to go to Italy and fucking ball out, dude.
Chris
So, yeah, that I think is cool. Like the new. The honeymoon fund, the new house. Fun.
Dan Powers
Yeah. It's like the experience fun.
Evan
I'd rather have that than like, oh, the coolest fucking thing.
Chris
Because I feel like I want to do shit like that more than I want to upgrade my paint.
Dan Powers
Well, that's the thing I think you should go through and think about the stuff that you need.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Make sure you do gifts that you're like, we need this, we need that. And then look at the upgrade stuff and be like, do we really need to upgrade that? And if the answer is no, then open the door to the experience fund.
Evan
Stemware. Stemware. You're always gonna need wine glasses. Yeah, nice wine glasses.
Chris
But I don't want want them, dude.
Dan Powers
I just want them wine glasses for me. And I'm a wine guy have become like flat screen TVs where they're like, nice wine glasses are not that expensive anymore. Yeah, you can go on Amazon.
Evan
They're gonna breaking.
Dan Powers
But I'm telling you, you can go on Amazon and get a nice set of eight wine glasses. Like nice wine glasses for like 25.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
So like you do not. If you get like crystal stemware, that's like hundreds of dollars on your registry. I'm like, that's a mistake.
Chris
So let me ask you this, Sandra, I said that all I want to do, she was like, I'm going to go, I'll go gun the stuff that I want. And I was like, all I want, all I'm going to put on from my side is contribute to my golf simulator. Like, I'm going to get a golf simulator, going to be five grand. And then I don't expect to get all that, but whatever you want to contribute to it. And Sandra said, I can't. Because once everyone sees that as an option, they're going to be like, oh, that's dope bank. And then she's gonna get none of her stuff because everyone can.
Dan Powers
Every single male will do that. And I'm telling you right now, you have to do it.
Chris
I agree. That's.
Dan Powers
You know what If I invest, if
Evan
I invest in your golf simulator, I'm fucking playing.
Chris
And you can all welcome. Dude, I wanted to.
Evan
Well, no, this is what you do. You add it on halfway. I think if you can change it. Wait until like actually, you know, wait until like 20 people contribute and then add it on you.
Dan Powers
You know what you should do do figure out like go talk to someone at Home Depot. Yeah. Or find something on Instagram or YouTube that is like build your own simulator. I don't know what your plan is to do like putting it in the house or like, you know, whatever, but find one that requires us to do some because that would be a fun project to do. So it'll be like cheaper.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
And then Sandra will be like, you can do that. Because if it's like we're gonna come over and help you build it. Yeah. Because that'd be cool. Be a sick video.
Chris
Really fun, dude. Yeah.
Dan Powers
And it'll go be cheaper. So then it will hit it and it won't tap into her stuff. Here's an idea also Sandra's. All this is. Sandra will use this too.
Chris
I know, but she just wants. She wants new pots.
Evan
You'll get your new pots. Have hit different. Pay for it. Make it a company expense.
Chris
Incredible idea.
Evan
Do a video.
Dan Powers
That's what I'm saying, dude. We're gonna. Oh, my God.
Chris
Incredible idea.
Dan Powers
This turns into a YouTube video. It pays for itself.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
There you go.
Chris
So here's my last thought for you guys. I don't know if you know this exists, but I have now been informed of this.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
There is a thing you can do with your registry that is a program where you fill your registry with gifts for people to get you. And they click it, and then it goes, buy. It takes you to a link and you buy the gift, and then it goes. It's been shipped to Chris and Sandra. Thank you so much. I'm gonna say, Chris and Dan. You don't get anything. It's been shipped to Chris and Sandra. Thank you so much. And what it actually does is just transfer that money into my account and doesn't send us the gift because we don't actually want them. But they found if I put newlywed honeymoon fund, people are willing to spend this much. But if I go get me this luggage, which is two times that they go, I will get them that luggage. And so I'm actually getting more money.
Evan
I think that's devious.
Chris
But it's money they were willing to spend anyway.
Evan
That's devious.
Dan Powers
I think it's genius. No, it is definitely devious.
Chris
Can we leave this?
Dan Powers
But. But all it is doing is calling out us for being cheapskates. So who is the devious one, actually?
Chris
Yeah, Right?
Evan
Yeah. But then the person's going to be like, hey, man, I hope that that, like, lounge chair I got you is really going to contribute to your happiness. And you're like, no, actually, I spent it on a golf sim.
Chris
I mean, Italy did.
Evan
Yeah. You just got to be honest with them.
Chris
What do you think, Dad? I love the fake gift registry.
Dan Powers
I love it in a world. In a world where everyone needs more money and no one is willing to give it out. Don't cheapskate me on my wedding, too. Because you're like this. Oh, here's the fun. Here's 100 bucks when you would have given me 250 for my away luggage.
Chris
Yeah, you're a rat. You are a rat.
Evan
Yeah, I guess there's nothing stopping you from just returning the item and keeping the money.
Chris
Oh, fair.
Evan
But that's more work for you.
Dan Powers
I know I don't have to.
Chris
Who has time for that? Dude, no. Send thank you cards. Insane.
Evan
Oh, God. Don't even get me started on the fucking thank you card.
Chris
What a fucking joke. I think I'm just gonna text blast.
Evan
We literally got into. I got into a cycle with my wife and I were like, we would get thank you cards for sending thank you cards.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
And then it's like, where does this end?
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
Can we stop the car?
Dan Powers
That is a bit. That would be so funny if like someone, you send a thank you and then they reply thank you for so.
Chris
Well, for your whole life.
Dan Powers
And then I'm going to reply and be like this. It was so nice of you to reply. How are things going? Yeah. Next thing you know, I think that's
Evan
just called writing letters. That's what people used to do.
Chris
I think that's. I'm going to send a partiful text blast to my wedding. Thank you for coming.
Dan Powers
A party full incredible.
Chris
All right, Dan. Fraud watch.
Dan Powers
Fraud Watch and top hits. Let's get into it. Evan, I'd like you to start.
Evan
All right, hold on one second.
Dan Powers
I have a sneaking suspicion that Evan and I might have the same one of these.
Chris
Oh yeah, the Tom Holland thing. I forgot about this.
Evan
Yeah. Mine. My.
Dan Powers
Let's start with Fraud Watch.
Evan
Okay, we're starting with Fraud.
Dan Powers
By the way, guys, I went down a rabbit hole last night of like, my takes. I have a billion Fraud Watch and top hits.
Chris
Amazing. But I'm not gonna do them all. Yeah, you've gotta pay for it.
Evan
You've got a list for the future.
Dan Powers
All right. Ev. Fraud Watch.
Evan
My number one is LED headlights. Modern headlights.
Chris
Oh, okay.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Like, have you ever been driving and someone in SUVs behind you and you're like, ah, like blinded because of these modern lights that are like, for whatever reason they're daylight balanced. Like, what happened to the nice warm amber light of tungsten? I know that it's environmentally better to have daylight fucking led, but I hate the way it looks.
Dan Powers
I didn't even know that in cars
Evan
they're way fucking worse because they're so. Even when their brights aren't on, they're shining in your eyes. It's miserable to drive on a highway. Now give me my warm orange dim lights back, dude.
Chris
Warmer. I would even, I would even. You're actually. This is a perfect place for it. Headlights, but just warmer tones everywhere.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
You know, like I, I lights. Lights in general.
Dan Powers
I love, I love this Fraud watch because yeah, it goes into all these, these photos and videos I've seen recently that's like we Are losing the soul of the world with, like, everything is just so minimalist and brutalist, whites and grays and bright lights. And we used to have gorgeous street lamps with ornate decorations on them.
Evan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
We need that back. So I'm in this.
Evan
We need beauty in the world. And it's like, I understand that what they're doing is they're balancing the light for daylight so it's more of a blue light. But, like, that doesn't make sense to me because you only really need those lights at night.
Chris
At night, yeah.
Evan
So why are we trying to recreate daylight in the night when it's.
Chris
We're confused. The animals, dude.
Evan
It's true. And I think that's probably part of it. There might be a stuff. And also it's. I know, like, when they say, like, when you're, you know, at night, you're looking at your phone and, like, it's bad for your sleep. And there's that night shift thing you can do with your computer and your phone where you can sort of make the light more amberish, which I guess helps, but. So it's like, there's probably scientific evidence to why we shouldn't be doing this anyway, other than, like, if they could just find an environmental way to make the lights better for the environment, but also give them more of an orange
Dan Powers
glow, a little warmer.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
Warm those lights up.
Chris
I was doing a hit different video, and I pulled into the golf course, and a guy, an Asian man, was at the driving range, and he barely spoke English. And he came up to me and he said.
Dan Powers
He was like, drive night. And I was like, what?
Chris
And then he was like. Dan was like. I think he said, can you drive at night? And I was like, oh, yes, I'm young. I young.
Evan
I can drive at night.
Chris
I drive at night still.
Evan
Why would he ask you that question?
Chris
Then he started gesturing to my headlights, which are clouded over a bit.
Evan
Oh, right. From the condensation or whatever.
Chris
And he was like. He was like, it's the sun. And if you take half a lemon, he's like, half a lemon. Baking powder rub salad.
Dan Powers
Did you do it?
Chris
I haven't done it yet, but I just bought the lemons. And I was like, thank you, wise Asian man.
Evan
I've heard about that too.
Dan Powers
It was unbelievable. This guy had. He then said another thing, like, he had so many. I was like, I could talk to you for hours, sir.
Chris
He clearly Instagram reels.
Dan Powers
Yes, he is. He is a human hack page. Like, I could tell it was unbelievable. I Love that one. Okay, I'm gonna do two here. If that's odds two Fraud Watches. Because my first one, I want to be very. First of all, want to be very clear, as we always say, Fraud Watch is not saying that we hate these things. We're saying we're putting them on Fraud Watch because we have questions. I love Tom Holland so much. I think he is my favorite actor, celebrity in the world. And I would give anything to work with him. I would give anything to be friends with him. So I'm being very delicate when I say this, but I am not so much putting Tom Holland on Fraud Watch. I am, I'm saying I'm so impressed with him that I need proof. Okay, so Tom Holland at this. Awesome. I think it was a, it was a pickleball or like a Padel event that he did in partnership with Beero his non alcoholic beer. He was interviewed about his workouts and he was like, I do a workout all the time called the Cindy. It's like a CrossFit.
Chris
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
I've done it many times. Cross The Cindy is 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, and 20 air squats. As many as you can do in 20 minutes. And in the interview he says, I think My record is 27 rounds and a bunch of like fitness dudes have been like, trying to do it and it's going kind of viral and guys are getting through like 13 rounds and they're, they're tapped out. Now. This is why I'm saying I'm being very delicate because Tom's my guy. I will defend Tom all day. He is a fucking lifelong gymnast, acrobat, that unit. He's also 5, 6, 5, 7, so a little bit, you know, not as long of a distance on the pull ups and things like that. But that is such an unbelievable feat that I'm like, I need him to, I, I don't even need him to get 27. I need Tom to film himself doing a Cindy and get even, get 22. And I'm, I, my mind will be blown because, dude, I've done this workout. It is, it's hard, man. Dude, it is very hard. Okay.
Chris
Yeah, I was gonna say that sounds like a literal world record. It is, but it looks like the, the elite, like world record is like 30, 31. So I suppose he physically could do it.
Dan Powers
But I, and this is what I'm saying, like, I, I believe him. So, like, it's weird that I'm putting him on Fraud Watch, but it's, it's, it's More.
Chris
Because I need 135 pull ups, dude.
Dan Powers
It's crazy. In 20 minutes.
Chris
Fuck, dude.
Dan Powers
But again, he is absolutely yoked and he is a fucking gymnast.
Evan
And you're also forgetting that he was bit by a radioactive spiker.
Chris
True.
Dan Powers
I did forget that.
Evan
And that helps.
Dan Powers
I did forget.
Evan
Did you notice that in the movie, the DNA, maybe he took his regulator off.
Dan Powers
That is.
Evan
And it gave him the.
Dan Powers
That is very.
Evan
His eyes turned black.
Dan Powers
So again, it is. I just need. I need. Again, all I need. We need proof, dude. I need him to do like 21. And I'm already impressed.
Evan
All right, so, Tom Holland, you got to send us some video.
Dan Powers
Send me a video. But let it be known I believe in you. That's my guy.
Evan
Spider Man.
Dan Powers
Okay, here's my pull ups are bullshit. Here is my CrossFit. Here's my real fraud watch. Okay, do you guys want me to give one that is more of a hot take that I'm probably going to get pushback on or one that I actually passionately believe in?
Chris
Ooh, I don't know. That's actually both. Both of them are ripe. Ripe for Internet.
Evan
I want the hot take.
Chris
Okay. Hot take.
Dan Powers
All right, maybe I'll save the next one. They're both food related.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
Okay. I don't even know if I believe this one. So that's why I'm putting it on fraud watch. So we could watch it and people can come in the comments. I'm looking at restaurant industry here. People here too. Big one, I think I'm putting specials on a menu on Fraud Watch.
Chris
Horrible take. Horrific. Horrific.
Dan Powers
This is why I need to do it.
Evan
I'm open to this.
Chris
I.
Dan Powers
And this is a. Because I'm a weak man.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
I. When I go to a restaurant that I really like and I'm very excited, I feel like my big struggle is the menu. Because there's so many good things. I don't know what I want.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
And then when the waiter comes over and does an incredible job and the server go, you know, walks me through the menu, tells me about the restaurant and then they go, I'd also love to share with you our specials tonight. I'm like, I don't. I didn't need that as well. I don't need that added to my stressful decision of what I'm going to eat.
Chris
What if it was on the menu already? So when you sat down, then I
Dan Powers
don't think it's a special.
Chris
No, but it says on the menu printed. Yeah.
Dan Powers
And it says. Okay, still like an extra insert. Yeah. Less bad.
Chris
Okay. But still time to prep.
Dan Powers
Yes. Part of me is like, I know that there are seasonal items and things like that, but part of me is like, if this is so fucking special, put it on the menu. Let me get it tomorrow.
Evan
I think it's more like the salmon is about to go bad, so it's on special tonight.
Dan Powers
That's also possible.
Evan
It may kill you, but we will get your money.
Dan Powers
I mean, we literally saw Anthony Bourdain in the big short say this, and we've done this.
Chris
I thought one of you was gonna go there. Evan. Very well said that is. This isn't a myth. Like, that is 100% what happens. Restaurants we worked at, it was like, hey, we need to get rid of this. And I would like to think that the chefs we were working with and Anthony Bourdain certainly did this would do. They'd make a cool dish. Like, oh, the salmon. We need to sell the salmon. So then let's make. We don't just go, here's some fucking salmon. Eat it. You know, he would create this awesome dish that had salmon in it that made it a special. So it was cool. But 100%. A lot of times specials are like, hey, we got to get this out of here.
Evan
Yeah. So I agree with you. Only because in my. In my view, it's like. It's the same thing happens when people are like, let's play a new card game. I'm going to explain the rules to you. And my brain just goes, yeah, it's the same. When they're like, let me talk about the specials. And I'm looking at them going like. I'm not registering anything they're saying. I. Why can't I pay attention to them right now? The restaurant's loud. I'm worried about the way I'm sweating. And then they're done. And I'm like. They're like, okay. And I'm like, cool. Didn't hear any of that. Yeah, yeah, I'll have whatever the fuck you said.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
So I can't pay attention.
Chris
I actually. You are clearly don't like this, Dan. But I like when a place goes. They have, like, a daily special. As in. As in Wednesdays, we have this.
Dan Powers
I know exactly the place that you're thinking of. You're thinking of Cat 9 tail in York, Maine.
Chris
But that's not on the reg.
Dan Powers
What do you mean? Some places. No, they have.
Chris
They have a special every day. Some places go every Thursday.
Dan Powers
I think Cat does that. No, I think Cat is like, okay, either way. That. That is. I don't. We can't get into semantics here, because that is different to me.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
I also think it's stupid, but if they're like, every Thursday we do a gobbler.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Because Thursday is Thanksgiving. Yeah, that is cool. But I'm talking just the. Again, it's just on fraud watch. Let's talk about it.
Evan
Are you just saying that you don't like it because it adds more choices and that makes you more anxious about what you're gonna eat?
Dan Powers
Yes. That also what you said. Cuz there are times where I'm like, is this seafood stew your fucking day old Halibut.
Evan
Right.
Dan Powers
And there's also the element that's part of me. It's also a challenge to the chef where I'm like, if this is so special, pal, put it on the menu.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
Why is this not always on the menu? And again, I know people are gonna be like, some things are seasonal. We can't have it in stock all the time. And I'm like, okay, leave it off the menu.
Chris
Yeah. Don't ever.
Dan Powers
If you can't afford to have it all the time, leave it off the menu.
Chris
I actually, my hot take about specials is I much prefer lunch specials to dinner specials. Lunch specials, I'm all ears. Oh, yeah, interesting. I'm like, bro, you have an entire wagyu steak that I'm just hearing about now. Whereas lunch, I'm like, oh, that sandwich sounds awesome.
Dan Powers
I'll have that to contradict myself every now and then. When I do order the special, I feel very fancy and it's amazing. I'm like, I'm gonna do some.
Evan
I've had some bad specials. You know what? This is just a sidebar, but when you look at something, it's like lobster roll. Market price. Yeah, I hate that because then I have to look like a poor fucking schmuck who's like, what's the market price? They're like $30. I'm like, not going to get that.
Chris
Yeah, yeah. Well, here's the. I have good news, Evan. You don't ever have to ask again. Because they're always obscene.
Evan
It's always. Yeah, that's why they don't put the price.
Dan Powers
Yeah, I can help you out here. No market is good.
Chris
They're.
Dan Powers
All the markets are gouging us. Market price doesn't matter. Half all the prices market you're shopping at, they are expensive.
Chris
Who invented that, by the way? Market price is some bullshit.
Dan Powers
It is so dumb.
Chris
One restaurant was like, what if we just say it's not on us? It's on the market.
Dan Powers
All the. All the. All the markets. All the restaurants I've ever worked at. When we did that, I was always you. So annoying.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
Insane.
Evan
All right.
Chris
Okay. My fraud watch is NFL training camp. You bitched about everything. Okay, no, maybe this wasn't you.
Dan Powers
I'm getting put on blast here.
Chris
But we were talking about the seasons, weren't we? Weren't we talking about summer? You bitched about summer, didn't you?
Evan
Yeah, I said summer is over too soon.
Dan Powers
Why are you saying bitch?
Chris
You bitching, dude?
Evan
He fraud watched.
Dan Powers
Put it on fraud watch. Summer was on fraud watch. It's too short.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
And I think so. This is kind of piggybacking on yours. One of the culprits for me is camp.
Dan Powers
I'm like, it's August 5th.
Chris
Literally. What is going on? No one needs you in camp right now. Like, just go. Go away.
Dan Powers
Go away.
Chris
In the fall, start football and then play football. Like, what in the actual fuck happens when it's.
Dan Powers
Dude.
Chris
Cause they were already happening. Like it's in July and they're like, oh, the Dak Prescott throwing. And I'm like, why? Why? It's July.
Dan Powers
Yes.
Chris
And a lot of things trigger me that summer's ending and all this shit. And one of them. And I'm. I like football, dude, but I'm not the biggest foosball guy. But the. You're a pretty big football guy. I was. When Brady was playing. I was a huge football guy. Just not. It's, you know. I know who's got the time now. I love my Sundays.
Dan Powers
Drake May at the time. Yeah, he's making time for us. You make time for him.
Chris
But yeah, dude, I just can't. I can't have it. I can't have it this early. You suck the life out of summer. You suck the life out of every other sport.
Evan
Sport.
Dan Powers
It's too early. I'm going to piggyback. I'm going to put Premier League on there, too. I mean, Chelsea's literally playing preseason matches against Juventus right now. And I'm like, can you guys please. You're a small sport. But they're about to. They're about to start playing games in. In like three, two weeks, two and a half weeks.
Evan
I think it's a symptom of just like the 24 hour sports media cycle where it's like, of course, decades ago, athletes were training months in advance, but we didn't hear about it because we didn't have to, like, make news out of nothing. Whereas now it's like, oh, my God. He's. He, like. He's. He has new shoes on. Here's an article about it. And it's like, okay.
Dan Powers
And, dude, it's also like, hey, the
Chris
Browns, you're gonna go 3 and 15 again? Like, do you think all these. All these summer workouts are doing anything?
Evan
Yeah. Maybe. Let them relax. They play.
Dan Powers
There are. There are Browns fans listening to this show right now who are just walking through life fine.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
And then the second you brought up NFL, their ears perked up, and they were like, just don't bring up.
Chris
Don't leave us alone.
Dan Powers
Don't bring up the Browns. And then we got through your whole fraud watch, and they were like, we made it. And then you killed them.
Chris
Headshot, dude. I don't. Evans. You're both right. I don't need it. Do it in private. Go work out in private. Leave the cameras away. I don't need to hear about it. I don't need to see any articles about it. Fucking people are paying, like, to go to camp. Like, fans go to camp.
Evan
Yeah, it's a little crazy.
Chris
Jesus Christ. NFL.
Evan
That's a big thing in Pittsburgh, too. They used to do that in Latrobe.
Chris
Calm down.
Dan Powers
Agree. Let's snake draft it. Bring it right back around for top hits.
Chris
Top hits.
Evan
Yep.
Chris
For me, going to lunch.
Dan Powers
Whoa.
Evan
I.
Chris
When I was a TV exec, lunches were a really big thing. That's like, everyone's like, let's get lunch. You know, like, dude, when I was an assistant, my boss would. We were booked lunches out for months. Like, something like, can we get lunch with your boss? And I'd be like, yes. How's it going? You know, how's October? It was October 10th. And they'd be like, okay. And then that would get pushed at least once, Right? Like, you know, then that lunch gets pushed and you go, but point being, lunches are filled. I remember being like, oh, when I get older as an exec, I will go on lunches someday. And I kind of did. When I, you know, became a young exec, I was going on lunches, and then I stopped. Cause I was like, I don't have time for this, and I don't need this networking. And those are free lunches. Keep in mind.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Chris
And then now I am bringing lunch here a lot. A lot of people bring lunch here a lot. And it just creates this. Like, I'm just at my desk eating and what kind of first swung me Back is when you and I are in the bar and I see the whole edit bay do their sit down lunch together. And they bring their lunches, but they're all hanging at the picnic table.
Evan
Yeah, they're a tight group.
Chris
That's pretty cool.
Evan
When I see those boys walking somewhere to get lunch, I'm like, I get jealous. Good job, guys.
Chris
That's what I said to them. I was like, damn, I'm jealous of this. And then we yesterday for Dolan's could be the move video. We went out to lunch, went to KBBQ lunch, which was. Which was an ordeal for lunch. But my point was we have time. Like, I am so multitasky in my life that I'm like, I gotta fucking finish everything and I'm always stressed and whatever. But you have time to have lunch
Dan Powers
for an hour, sit and enjoy it.
Chris
And sitting with your friends. Going to lunch with your friends is in the middle of your workday.
Evan
It's awesome.
Chris
Is actually awesome. And I was like, we should be going to lunch all the time.
Dan Powers
I mean, I am.
Evan
Let's go.
Dan Powers
Today I'm the biggest. Truly, I am the biggest. Like, we need to be taking notes from Europe. Like, they go home and have lunch and I'm over here eating my lunch, hunched over my computer, doing more work, and I'm like, can you take a break, dude?
Chris
Dude. I've been more proud on dinner as I've gotten older. Like, dinner I don't need. I don't even like dinner anymore. I used to love dinner and now I'm like, breakfast, lunch.
Dan Powers
Christopher, that is awful. You know what this is? This is the. This is the first noticeable sign, actually. Maybe it's your body breaking down. Like, you are hurt all the time now. You are burned hands. You are officially old if you stop eating dinner. Like, dude, I'm dead ass. Like, I used to.
Evan
But it's healthier though. I used to.
Chris
That's what I'm saying.
Dan Powers
I used to tease Turtle Taub. He straight up would used to not eat. Like, he would eat the biggest fucking lunch you've ever seen. And then he'd be. He would take a nap and then go home and I'd be like, do you eat dinner?
Evan
And he'd be like this.
Dan Powers
He was straight up like this. No. Like, I just go home and go to bed and I'm like, you're so old.
Evan
That's crazy. He's like the Nomad. That's the Omad diet, right? One meal a day.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
Yes. There's this great joke that Bruce Springsteen only eats one meal a day. And then Conan O' Brien said, yeah, but it's. It's a. It's a 12 foot long Italian sub. Yeah.
Dan Powers
Like, no joke. It's like, that is like, John used to do that. I'd be like this. You are way too young to be acting this old. Because like, it is an old person move when you stop eating food. Like, we used to get lunch with Graham and she would eat like three bites of a sandwich and be like, this is all I'll eat today. And I'm like, what is wrong with you?
Evan
I mean, here's the thing though. There is a financial thing to think, but. Because I love eating out at lunch. But then you're looking at. You're like, wow, I spent 25 on a fucking sandwich and a bag of chips.
Dan Powers
Hold on, Evan. I'm. You're right, but I'm not talking money here. I'm talking literally.
Evan
You're taking a break.
Dan Powers
Your body is like, I don't need food anymore.
Evan
Right.
Dan Powers
You cannot be getting to that age. I saw a video the other day that was like the worst part about vacationing with your parents as they get older is they. When they hit the I'm not hungry face. Yeah. And like, that is dead ass, dude. Like, when you're like. When we're with our parents and I'm like this. You guys want dinner? And Mom's like, I'm fine. I'm like, no, you are not this old. Stop.
Chris
Shout out Al. Dude. Shout out Al and Keith. Like, I. Al and Keith, I can go to. On vacation with. And we be. We be going to meals. Yes. And that is what I'm talking about.
Dan Powers
Because it's. Eating is like one of the best things that we do.
Chris
Exactly.
Dan Powers
Okay. My top hit is blaming the government. The other day, actually, you just referenced. We were at Benihana or not Benihana.
Chris
I wish we were at Beni.
Dan Powers
We were at. What was that? Quarters.
Chris
Quarters.
Dan Powers
Shout out quarters. We were at KBBQ for lunch and we were talking to Danny and someone made a comment about Danny eats a lot of burritos. A lot of sodium in Danny's diet. And someone was like, danny's cholesterol must be out of control. And Danny quickly piped in in between bites and said, cholesterol is made up by the gut government. It's not real. And then someone was like, why would the government make up cholesterol? And I was like, well, because the government is in bed with big pharmaceutical and then they're trying to sell us medication and, you know, next thing. And cholesterol. And someone was like, that's actually a good point.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
I. I think as many people who listen to this program know, we are big conspiracy theory guys. I. I think I am full Ron Swanson now.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
I've been rewatching Parks and Rec as I go to bed.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
And every single time Ron Swanson goes on how he's a libertarian, and he's like, I hate the government, and the government should not be involved in anything. All they do is steal our money and not let us do things. Especially here in the U.S. fuck the government.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
You're all. All you politicians. You are pricks and pieces of shit scumbags. And all you do is lie to us and pit us against each other. The government is to blame for everything
Evan
and take a bunch of corporate money.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Yes.
Chris
It's not even that bad, by the way. I've become a politician. You're like a manipulative bad.
Dan Powers
You are a scumbag. And then they're like, I can't. Like, it's insane.
Evan
Well, they spend so much time raising money for the next campaign, they don't really govern.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
It's like, as soon as they get elected, then the thing they gotta think about most is how do I fundraise so that I can get elected again.
Dan Powers
I saw a comedian on Subway Takes recently say that politicians should have to wear their sponsors on their suits. Like nascar.
Evan
Yeah, that's good.
Dan Powers
And I was like, yes, that's incredible. Because anytime they said anything that was related to one of their sponsors, we'd go, oh, you're full of shit, dude. Because it's like when I watch Spider man and there's a shelf when he's in the bodega and there's a shelf full of beer. O. I'm like, nice product placement, Tom.
Chris
Yeah, right.
Dan Powers
But I'm also like, I know what you're doing. As you should. You should. You got Marvel bent over the barrel. They'll do anything you say. You should put bureau in this movie. But I know why it's in there. When a politician starts talking to me about some random shit. And I'm like, oh, interesting.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
If they had a fucking massive Nabisco batch of protection like this. Oh, you fucking scumbag.
Chris
It'd be cool ev if we had a you can't ever run consecutively rule.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
So, like, once you win the election, you fundraise. You win the election.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
Now you can't run. So it's like all right. Just use your time to gut.
Evan
There you go.
Chris
And now you're out. And you could run again the next round.
Evan
Yeah, you got to sort of like do a loop de loop.
Chris
Yeah. Because it's like, now do the job, please.
Evan
I know, I like that.
Dan Powers
So I think we gotta be. I mean, I think it is a. Just a top hit to blame the government.
Chris
Yep, good one.
Dan Powers
Because here's the thing, dude, they're not on our side.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
They are actively against us. They've been poisoning us and stealing from us since its inception.
Evan
Did you see the one? There was the one guy from the. Whatever. I forget where, I forget his name. But he was like, people want these data centers in their communities. He's like, it'll be great for your community. And like, literally everyone is going to these town halls being like, they're noisy, they pollute the water, they bring our energy expenses up, and then you have guys going like, no, people want them.
Chris
They love them.
Evan
What are you talking about?
Dan Powers
It's like, I am all in on this, dude. Like, we need. We all need to be more like Ron. They're. All they're doing is pitting us against each other. We need to get back in touch with humanity. We need to stop watching the news, because that's all bullshit too, because it's paid for by politicians and they just lie to us. Like, people watch the news and they go, I'm informed. And I'm like, you just watched a TV show.
Evan
Well, it's the same.
Dan Powers
It's not news.
Evan
Corporations that pay, the politicians pay.
Dan Powers
Yes. It's. It's just depends on what side they control. They're just.
Chris
They're.
Dan Powers
We're all puppets, dude. We need to cut the strings.
Evan
Wow. We're fomenting an insurrection right now.
Dan Powers
I'm dead ass, dude. The government to blame for everything.
Evan
You're going to be on a list.
Dan Powers
Stop. Fine. I'd be happy to be on it because I know you're all full of shit. You just turn each other against each other. All of us against each other. Because you're all puppet master scumbags.
Chris
Cholesterol is not real.
Dan Powers
Cut the straight.
Evan
Speaking of. I'm taking my. This is my high blood pressure. Chew.
Chris
Yeah, there you go.
Dan Powers
You don't have high blood pressure. Blood pressure.
Evan
Watch me have a stroke on the air.
Dan Powers
The government made it up. But yeah, start blaming the government, dude,
Chris
because they are to blame anything they have top hit.
Evan
Okay, so it is Tom Holland.
Chris
Oh, nice.
Evan
Specifically, Tom and Zendaya are having a summer, bro.
Chris
It's incredible.
Evan
And I'm. I'm not normally like a celebrity couple.
Dan Powers
I love celebrities.
Evan
Yeah. I'm not like a worship of the elder celebrities caring about influencers or any of that stuff. Like, let them live their lives. Just because they're famous doesn't mean you got obsess about their private lives. I should not have taken that chew right now.
Dan Powers
Yeah, I can jump in while you chew because I could not agree more. I absolutely love the two of them. And I actually texted a friend the other day. It sucks loving them so much. And then seeing these Tom Dia fan x32 Instagram accounts and I'm like, get a life.
Evan
It's all like AI videos too, actually.
Chris
That.
Dan Powers
Yes. I mean, it's like crazy. People are going onto AI and going make me a tribute video to Tom and Zendaya. And I'm like, they are famously private. Let them be private like you are. You love them so much and you're doing what they are.
Chris
You're ruining their lives.
Dan Powers
Like, please do not ruin their lives. But like, I think that they are so wonderful.
Evan
It's just my take is like, they're cool. He's. When I was watching the Odyssey, I left the movie and I was like, I can really get behind any plot of a movie where. And hopefully this isn't a spoiler, but like the subplot of the movie is protect Tom Holland's life at all costs. Yeah. Like, and I'm like, I think we can all get it. Like, great casting.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
Because he's just so charming.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
He's fucking Spider Man. And then Zendaya and him being in like two giant blockbusters, two weeks apart together and just being the coolest. I'm like, I hope that, I hope it lasts. I hope they stay together. I hope it's not like a Chris Pratt on a Ferris thing where they split up and you're kind of like, I'm bummed about that. But like, just what, what fucking summer they're having being in like these great movies that are actually like interesting, well made films. I mean, I think the Odyssey is a little bit better than Spider Man.
Chris
Yeah.
Evan
But Spiderman's great, but still, like, you know, just the satisfaction to be them. Like, they're fucking living the lives. God bless them. God bless them.
Dan Powers
I forget what it was. Talk show. But he was on a talk show recently and someone was like, dude, you, you know, you just did the Odyssey press story. Now you're rolling right into Spider man. And it must be pretty nice to be Tom Holland right now. And he was just like, very charmingly and honestly, he was like, I am living the dream. And I was like, you sure are, pal.
Evan
And you.
Dan Powers
And by God, does he deserve be thankful. He is so wonderful. I love him so much. I love her so much. They just feel like they are everything that I would hope people who find fame and success would be. And I love that they're private. And I'm like, respect that. Let's let them keep being awesome, dude.
Chris
So my take. And I'm so with you, Ev. That is one of the, the few celebrity couples that I would be bummed currently, right now. I'd be bummed if they broke up. I'd be like, oh, that was cool.
Evan
Yeah. Love isn't real.
Chris
Yeah. But this is my relationship with them. It's exactly what Alfred says to Bale's Batman when he's like, I hope you just disappear.
Dan Powers
Agree.
Chris
And I never see you again. And then one time I see you at a cafe in Italy and I'm
Evan
drinking a Fernie Broncha.
Chris
Yeah. And I just give them a nod and go, I'm proud of you.
Evan
You.
Chris
I, I, I hope after Tom's Spider man arc is done, they literally vanish.
Dan Powers
I, I said this to you the other day.
Evan
They're going to take a break. He said they're going to take a break.
Dan Powers
Well, I, I mean, I've, I've heard him right now I'm doing what I just told people not to do is like, let, just let them live their life.
Chris
Yeah, yeah.
Dan Powers
But I, I do, I have heard him say, he's like, when we have kids, I'll probably retire from acting. And as someone who loves his work, I'm like, don't do that. But then I'm back, dude. I don't think he should. Dude, he is. I mean, look at what he has already achieved. Like, the money that he is bringing in. I hope he finishes this Spider man art because, like, he's already done it, dude. Like, he's done a Nolan movie. I'm sure he would love an Oscar. But he also doesn't strike me as the person at all. Who gives a fuck about that. But I'm like, dude, if there's, like, one or two other directors that you're really desperate to work with, like, he wants to work with Greta Gerwig or, like, Kathryn Bigelow or Scorsese or something, I'm like, yeah, go do that. But finish Spider man, have some kids and get the fuck out of here.
Chris
Good day.
Dan Powers
Go golf. Like, truly Golf. Hang with your brothers, who are awesome, and your family and Zendaya's family. And just fucking enjoy everything that you have earned. Cause you're the fucking best. The both of them.
Evan
I just want to share one quick crush that I think you guys might appreciate. Because we were in the theater, and sometimes I'll just lean over to Megan and just do a little joke in the film. And they were asking, in the Odyssey, they were like, how old must your son be at this point? Because, you know, Odysseus hadn't seen him. And I leaned over to Megan, I said, He's 30, but he can play 20, which is Tom Holland. Cause he's, like, perfect. He's 30 now, but he's definitely playing younger.
Dan Powers
Oh, my God. I was actually. You know, this happens anytime a good Marvel movie comes out. But I've been like, in the background while I'm cooking. I've gone back through the Infinity Saga. And I was hungover the other day and watched all the spider mans. I was shocked. If you watch Homecoming, he looks young. Young. I was like, oh, my God. Like, it is crazy because he is so handsome and youthful still and. But you are like, oh, wow. You are way older.
Chris
Yeah, it's crazy.
Evan
Yeah, that's time. Happens.
Chris
God.
Dan Powers
All right, let's wrap things up with a blind ranking. We're Gonna stay with Dr. Watkins here on the nickel.
Chris
We had to save this one till he returned.
Dan Powers
We had to save it for his return. Here we are, and we're doing blind rankings. Nickelodeon game shows.
Evan
Number one. Well, not number one. Let's just say the first one.
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Wild and Crazy Kids.
Chris
Ooh.
Dan Powers
Do you remember?
Chris
That is good. Dude. That is an incredible pull to start us off.
Dan Powers
I think I have two that are like mine. 1, 1A, 1B.
Chris
I think so, too. And you're gonna. We're probably gonna fight over it. I'm not a crazy kid.
Dan Powers
I'm happy to go, like, five here.
Chris
Five?
Dan Powers
Yeah, bro. I barely remembered this show. It was cool. But this was also one. I mean, we always joke about this with the live action Nickelodeon shows. When you go back and look at them, the holy hell. The budget was low on these shows. Yeah, Wild and Crazy Kids is pretty low for me. I'll go five or four.
Chris
I'm wondering if we should go four for fear. But, God, sometimes the times we've gone five out the gate and just gone right up the chute has worked well for us.
Evan
I'll just. The show I was rewatching some of it, it's Pretty slapdash. And it's like, I'm kind of amazed no kids got injured. Or maybe we didn't know because it's literally like we have. They, like. They, like, ran out a water park and they just bring like 500 fucking kids and let them go nuts. Which is the. Part of the low budget thing is like, whatever. And there's like, we're gonna have the kid go down this giant water slide into a thing of, like, baseball bats. And then they have to get through, and it's like, like, how did nobody break a fucking leg doing the show? One of the hosts was Omar Gooding, who was Cuba Gooding Jr. S younger brother.
Chris
Hilarious.
Evan
I never knew that. But what do you think?
Chris
Do you want to do five?
Dan Powers
Yeah.
Evan
Fuck.
Chris
All right, five.
Evan
Okay, next one is Legends of the Hidden Temple.
Chris
I don't know how.
Dan Powers
This isn't one.
Chris
Me neither. Okay. I thought we might have to fight about this.
Dan Powers
There's one that I am, like, I would fight, but I would lose the fight, and I'd be happy to lose the fight. This Legends of the Hidden Temple is.
Chris
It was so sick, dude. This was the one show that I think everybody wanted to be on when we were kids. It was like, what would you be? And then this is the one. What team were you?
Dan Powers
I was a Purple Parrots guy. Yeah, but Legends of the Hidden Temple was like, blue barracudas.
Chris
How many do you think you can name?
Dan Powers
Let me try it right now. Purple parrots, Blue barracudas. Green monkeys.
Chris
I think that's right.
Dan Powers
Silver snakes. I think red.
Chris
I can't remember red.
Dan Powers
Damn. I don't remember red, but I think that was it. Was it five? Let's see. Maybe there was.
Chris
Oh, fuck. I should have got that one.
Dan Powers
Is there. Is there more than five? I think there's an orange.
Chris
Blue barracudas, Green monkeys. Purple parrots. Silver snakes. So we got those. We're missing two.
Dan Powers
Two. It's orange and red.
Chris
Yep.
Dan Powers
Is it orange?
Evan
I got it on screen here.
Dan Powers
Yes.
Evan
Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars.
Chris
And it's Red Jags, which I should have got. That was my favorite team. I was always Red Jaguars.
Dan Powers
I loved the Purple Parrots.
Chris
Yep.
Evan
Okay, so are we locking in one?
Dan Powers
I'm gonna have to go one. I mean, fuck, man. There were a couple of sick shows, but Legends of the Hidden.
Chris
We gotta go one.
Dan Powers
We got just cool. It was awesome.
Evan
Okay. Guts.
Dan Powers
Now I need to ask, is guts and Global guts? Are you going to say global Guts too, or can we just pair them together?
Evan
I would pair them together. Yeah.
Chris
Okay.
Dan Powers
Guts, the Aggro crag dude that actually.
Evan
Fuck. And Mike o' Malley was the host.
Chris
And this. This is probably the one I wanted to be on next, to be honest with you, because I know the other show that's probably coming, but this one I was like, so I can do that.
Dan Powers
This is difficult for me.
Evan
God.
Chris
The aggro crag dude.
Dan Powers
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Chris
This is difficult for me to be too, bro.
Dan Powers
Global. Guts. Guts. Guts. And this other one I'm thinking of are such different shows.
Chris
I know.
Dan Powers
And like Legends and Guts, I felt like were pretty. Like they were both very physical. Yeah.
Chris
Yeah.
Dan Powers
But at the end of the day, I do think Guts is above this other one.
Chris
Wait, I think we. I think Guts is too.
Dan Powers
Yeah. Two.
Evan
Okay. Double dare.
Dan Powers
Three.
Chris
Yes.
Dan Powers
And Double dare was sick.
Chris
And Double dare is fucking awesome. Reach that nose. Reaching up that nose for the flag.
Evan
Yeah.
Dan Powers
Double dare was like this cool combination of like, it felt like price is Right. Like it was in a set. Yeah, yeah, I know, dude.
Chris
Having like ooze a helmet on with the line and you're just like getting the ooze in this helmet.
Dan Powers
Hilarious. Double Dare, Ross.
Chris
It's like love action. I love action. Love Island. I feel like love island this year watched Double dare.
Dan Powers
Yes.
Chris
And then took all their challenges.
Evan
They did. Yeah. We remember Sean was talking about all the sliming.
Chris
Sliming.
Evan
The one thing I find fascinating is Mark Summers, the host, had like ocd. Did you know that?
Dan Powers
Did he really?
Evan
Yeah. So every day on set he, like would have a panic because of how messy and gross the show.
Dan Powers
Of course.
Evan
And so to me, I'm like the worst man for the job.
Chris
Yeah. Insane. Insane guy was on ambience every day. But he knew it was a cash cow. Dude. He's like a show.
Evan
And then he was on what would you do? Which was like the spin off show of that one, which was similar. He was also the host of that. But I'm not bringing that one up.
Chris
That's not the one.
Dan Powers
Okay.
Chris
So I fucking love our top.
Dan Powers
Me too. I think we're on fire.
Chris
Yeah. I think this actually might be perfect. What is four?
Evan
Number four is Nick Arcade. Do you remember Nick Arcade?
Chris
Great show. Great.
Dan Powers
But a perfect four.
Chris
A perfect four. Wow. Because I love an Arcade. We grew up near one. I am so, so good with that. And there's a gap between three and four, I think. I think the comments will say that those three are goaded and I am really excited. Dan, you always talk about the Ren and Stimpy kids or the gross kids? The. I'm really excited to hear the people in the comments that are the double dare one kids.
Evan
Yeah, I think it's maybe the most famous of the shows. Me too.
Chris
Me too.
Evan
Yeah.
Chris
Double.
Dan Powers
I mean, I don't know. Leg people are, like, dressing up as legends of the Hidden Temple for Halloween.
Evan
God.
Dan Powers
But double dare was. I mean, double dare was iconic, but, yeah, I feel pretty strongly, dude, like, I think we nailed this.
Chris
I'm thrilled.
Dan Powers
I think we nailed this.
Evan
Okay.
Chris
All right.
Dan Powers

Hosts: Dan Powers, Chris, Evan (and various friends of the show)
This high-energy, laughter-filled episode of the Empty Netters Podcast leans hard into the hosts' chemistry and deep love for hockey—and for goofing off. With news light in the hockey offseason, Dan, Chris, and Evan fill the time with quirky personal anecdotes, a unique hockey-themed trivia game with a breakfast cereal twist, reflections on wedding registries, and a riotous debate about the world's most powerful farts. More staple segments—Fraud Watch and Top Hits—bring the humor and hot takes home, with their usual blend of satire and sincerity.
"This was one of those grabs where I am 1000% positive is cold...it takes that full, like, Jesus fuck" (Chris, 02:33).
"Would you rather be burned alive or drown?" (Evan, 03:12) "Drowning is, like, my biggest fear. But burning alive would. Fuck." (Chris, 03:15)
The hosts introduce a trivia game with 10 questions where the answers are connected by a theme.
Each answer is rooted in hockey but also doubles as the name of a famous breakfast cereal mascot.
Notable Example Questions:
Realization dawns as the cereal connection becomes clear:
"Are you thinking cereal mascots?" (Dan, 16:30)
"Yes. This is actually really great." (Evan, 16:32)
The round closes with an impressive rundown of famous cereal mascots as trivia answers and lots of silly banter about Tony the Tiger’s real-life voice:
"You know that the guy who did Tony the Tiger’s voice sang the song ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’?" (Evan, 20:40)
"He was the face of a team for a time… but never a Hall of Famer. Is it Paul Kariya?" (Chris, 32:34)
"It has opened up a playlist called fart fest. Over 1,000 farts. It's a one hour playlist of farts." (Dan, 39:52)
"Don't get me. I would use it as a way to upgrade your ... that's what we did. We had all the cheap crap from like Target, right?" (Evan, 55:33)
"But what it actually does is just transfer that money into my account and doesn't send us the gift because we don't actually want them." (Chris, 62:03)
[64:00 – 92:44]
"Have you ever been driving and someone in SUVs behind you and you're like, ah, like blinded..." (Evan, 64:39)
"I am so impressed with him that I need proof... that's such an unbelievable feat." (Dan, 68:39)
"If this is so fucking special, put it on the menu. Let me get it tomorrow." (Dan, 72:11)
"It’s August 5th. What is going on? No one needs you in camp right now." (Chris, 76:52)
"Sitting with your friends. Going to lunch with your friends is … actually awesome." (Chris, 80:35)
"We are big conspiracy theory guys. I think I am full Ron Swanson now... The government is to blame for everything" (Dan, 83:58)
"Tom and Zendaya are having a summer, bro… I hope it lasts." (Evan, 87:42)

Casual, often crass, absurdly funny, and deeply rooted in hockey’s culture of chirping, rivalry, and inside jokes. The hosts toggle between sincere analysis and full-throttle bits, leaning into self-deprecation, pop-culture riffs, and honest arguments.
End note:
Don’t skip the lunch break—and don’t trust the government (or any “market price” lobster roll, for that matter).
