Every week, Beth, Ruchira and Oenone will delve into the biggest and splashiest pop culture stories, before weighing in on the conversations that they have ignited online. Why are we so interested in these stories? And what does this say about us as we try to navigate life in the "real" world?

EIChow Chows, we have a lovely throwback episode for you. Real EIC stans will remember we did our first-ever double episode on beauty two years ago! From Andy’s bangs in The Devil Wears Prada to Trinny and Susannah, glow ups were the most exciting film trope millennials like us grew up on. But how does it feel when we're all now looking at our reflections like a before image thanks to social media, the rise of cosmetic work and celeb transformations off the screen? We'd love to hear your thoughts on the ep. We're all naughty and check DM's and Spotify comments, even when we're OOO. Love O,R,B xxxxxDAZED: Snog Marry Avoid? Hello EIContent-obsessives – would you pay £3.19 a month to see how many times your crush viewed your story? Well, now you can! Introducing Instagram Plus!Instagram Plus is the new optional monthly subscription that unlocks exclusive customisation and insights on the platform, including 48-hour story extensions, anonymous story viewing, and rewatch counts. Instagram claims this is to give us users "more of what we love".But in a piece for The Atlantic, Annie Joy Williams writes: "If what you love is the ability to more conveniently keep tabs on crushes or enemies, by which I mean torture yourself, then Instagram nailed it. Instagram Plus is social media’s newest low—a company preying on our most pathetic impulses, for the price of a small iced coffee."This week's extra episode dives into what users really want from the app, tech bros' fixation with offering a poor product and the future of living life online. Beth-stans – we're sorry, our beloved was on hol this week, so Oenone and Ruchira took this one on. Also, the group are taking a well-deserved two-week break to rest and come back stronger. In the meantime, we'll be sharing some old fave episodes to sink your teeth into. Hello EIC, this week we're taking a look at the return of two cancelled women from pop culture. Also we are very sorry for any audio issues. We were blessed to be recording IRL at the Homewood Hotel and Spa (tysm to them!).Influencer, author and infamous 'scammer' Caroline Calloway made a public return to discourse last week with a new piece detailing her experience on Ozempic. Known for flower crowns, long IG captions in the 2010s and a viral creativity workshop where she charged hundreds of dollars for sharing her own posts, Calloway's essay sparked a big discussion around GLP-1s and the usefulness of weight loss transparency in 2026.Next up, Olivia Wilde is back on a press run, and this one looks very different to her last. The director and actor has risen from the discourse ashes after Don't Worry Darling to critical fanfare and high praise for her latest film, The Invite. We take a look at her recent interviews, the film and the wildly (sorry) different response to her and her talent this time round.Thank you so much for listening to us this week! Hello EIClique! This week we're asking, is the secret to good health, being a bitch, actually? In a piece titled ‘“Be a bitch or develop an autoimmune disease”, Sheya Kurian writes, ‘The internet’s latest health theory isn’t backed by science, but its popularity reveals how many women are exhausted by their own pleasantness’. The theory is everywhere on TikTok and Instagram, posts and testimonials racking up hundreds of thousands of views argue that years of people-pleasing, conflict-avoidance, and suppressed anger eventually show up in the body as eczema, hives, flare-ups, you name it. As Kurian writes in the piece, no doctor is prescribing "stand up to your annoying coworker" as treatment, however, there's obviously a reason that so many women resonate with it as an idea: research does link chronic stress to inflammation and immune dysregulation, and women are disproportionately affected by autoimmune disease. What do we make of this latest internet craze? Listen and find out!We hope you enjoy, as always please rate, review, follow & share the show :) love ya, O,R,B. xxoxoxoxo“Be a bitch or develop an autoimmune disease” has a CTA for women Hosted on Acast. Hello beloved EIChilden! This week we're your committed content matriarchs, bringing you a special episode all about mothers, mothering and motherhood. We start the episode discussing a recent essay in The Cut by actor, model and author Emily Ratajkowski where she explores her post-baby/post-divorce sex life. Is her tale of degradation, millennial men and going from dimly lit bar to baby bedtime aspirational or just plain un-relatable?Then we move on to the pressure to subscribe to a particular mum-aesthetic- butter moms, analogue moms, tuscan moms, gentle moms... the list goes on and only gets more exhausting. Is this slop or a way for women to retain identity after giving birth? And finally- could ChatGPT actually be an effective coparent? Female business-owners and AI companies are banking on it, investing big in AI technology that helps mums keep on top of the mental load of parenting. We take a closer and more critical look.Thank you so much for listening! We'll see you as always next Wednesday!O, R, B xOenone's favourite depiction of motherhood is in The Gilmore Girls, Ruchira's a sucker for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) and Never Have I Ever and Beth thinks motherhood is best depicted in Lady Bird (2017) and The Babadook (2014).LinksThe Cut - Mother F*cker by Emily Ratajkowski The New York Times - What's Your 'Mom Aesthetic' Wired - Momfluencers Are Pitching AI as a Better ‘Coparent’ Than MenDeadline - Emily Ratajkowski, Stephanie Danler & Lena Dunham’s Female-Driven A24 Series In Works At AppleTV+ Vogue - Some Sympathy For So-Called “Almond Moms”, Please by Emma SpecterThe Cut - “The Girlbossification of AI”SheKnows - Women Push Back Against Mel Robbins’ Advice to Use AI to Help Manage Finances Tracy Beaker Fandom - Cam LawsonPeople - Yolanda Hadid Jokingly Dubs Herself 'Worst Mom Ever' in Response to Critical TikTok Hosted on Acast. Hey EIChampions 🏆 ! Come and take an EIC-style spin 🚗 around the football ⚽️ block: it's the World Cup's world 🌍 & we're all just living in it, baby 💋. (It's coming home FYI.)This week on the podcast we are without Ruchira, who is currently on honeymoon. She’ll be back in a couple of weeks and we’ll do a big wedding debrief then- but for this episode, as you will hear, we are joined by Jack Rivlin from The Upshot podcast! The show where he, alongside Zach Sweeney Lynch, covers brilliantly funny sports stories - everything from drunken dressing-room escapades to deep dives into famous sports personalities and their scandalous lives. Their current world cup coverage is also absolutely unmissable. First up, we give our predictions for Saturday's game, recommend our favourite animals to get betting advice from, and discuss the hottest football managers (spoiler: it's all of them). Then we talk about something messy- no, not Lionel - but ongoing allegations towards FIFA of corruption, US favouritism and collusion with Donald Trump. Perhaps the biggest recent example of this was the decision to rescind a red card suspension of US player Folarin Balogun and allow him to play in a last-16 match earlier this week against Belgium. As Jack calls it, it's a 'love-in' between Trump & Infantino.Next up, we're sure everyone knows what a WAG is- but in case you’re waking up from a 30-year coma- it’s a term meaning 'Wives And Girlfriends', usually attributed to the partners of professional footballers. The origin of the term is somewhat disputed- some say it was christened in 2002 with coverage of teenage Colleen after Wayne Rooney’s first Premier League goal, others say it goes back even further to the infamous purple-outfitted Posh & Beck’s wedding of 1999. We reminisce on the best to ever do it!And lastly, some salacious stories from some of the most famous men in sport! Plus lots of meandering, philandering, Haaland-pandering, tangents in the middle! We hope you enjoy ☺️ , as always please do rate, review, and follow the show! And share with your friends! And leave a Spotify comment!Love you, byeeeeeeeeeee. The Upshot2026 World Cup: The murky ties between FIFA and the US2015 FIFA corruption scandalTrump Asked FIFA to Review U.S. Player’s Suspension. Hello EICustard Creams! For this week's bonus we're discussing the ethics of wearing or owning smart glasses. It's a tech that has existed in various forms for over a decade, first with Google Glass, then Apple’s Vision Pro, which caused concern on release for featuring twelve cameras, six microphones and two depth sensors. And now Meta, along with other big tech giants, are expanding their own smart glass collections, ponying up for huge celebrity endorsements and seeking to normalise the tech for everyday wear. With your help- we discuss. Thanks so much for your takes on this topic. We love love love being In Conversation with you all!B, R, O xLinksThe Washington Post - Smart glasses record people in public. Hello ‘ello EICrashouts!Happy Friday but even more importantly- happy wedding day to our beloved Ruchira! If you’ve not sorted your wedding gift yet don’t fret. The bride and groom have requested 5 star ratings and gorgeous reviews for the pod. Onto the episode…First up we’re discussing a truly bonkers run of celebrity endorsements. Timothée Chalamet for controversial prediction market Kalshi, his partner Kylie Jenner shilling Meta’s new Starfire AI glasses and Gwyneth Paltrow advertising luxury real estate in Israel… are some celebrities too famous for consequences? And how fat were those paycheques? Next up a new philosophy on the block- Bimbo Stoicism. Described as “a viral internet subculture that blends ancient Stoic emotional detachment with hyper-feminine, reclaimed "bimbo" aesthetics” with “a core philosophy encouraging women to reject rigid patriarchal beauty hierarchies and embrace self-acceptance by identifying with a "twin animal" that matches their natural features and demeanour.” Word salad or a chance to escape a lifetime of female-coded suffering? And finally: a steamy streamer to heatedly rival Heated Rivalry: Off Campus on Amazon Prime. Adapted from a book series of the same name by Elle Kennedy, the series is set at the fictional Briar University and follows music student Hannah Wells as she makes a deal with star hockey player and team captain Garrett Graham to start a fake relationship in exchange for her tutoring him. Perfect horny show or just a load of old fluff? One of us hated it, the other two have taste. No spoilers! Thanks so much for listening! Hello EICherries 🍒 This week is a very special author episode with the incredibly talented and successful Candice Carty-Williams. It was an honour to speak to her about her highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Queenie – her debut novel exploring the highs and lows of a 20-something young Black woman. She was very open about the struggles of adapting the story for TV; why she decided to bring the character back now; chosen families, and her experience of productivity pressure and desperately needing to switch off.We loved speaking with her. Please do give us a rating or a Spotify comment on any topics we discussed, as we'd love to hear from you <3Love O,R,B xxxx-------Queenie Is Working On It is OUT NOW.
