Norlander
Hey Parrish, Summer's here. You know what that means, I assume?
Gary Parish
It means you made another college basketball list, didn't ask for my opinion about anything, and want to record a whole bunch of episodes about it.
Norlander
No, but now that you mention it. Anyway, it is summer and that means it's almost time for our Summer Shoot around series. You are of course knee deep in research on all of the teams by this point, I take it.
Gary Parish
Oh boy. I'm researched up and ready to turn an episode about Kelvin Sampson's Houston Cougars into a conference conversation about the pros and cons of cremation. So if that's what you meant. Yes, I'm researched up, ready to go.
Norlander
That's exactly what I meant. I think we need to update the audience about what they should expect with the shootaround shows this year because we are making some tweaks.
Gary Parish
Oh no more tweet. You tweaking again the last time you tweaked something, it led to us having this clunky musical intro and now we're just randomly tweaking things again. For real. What are you tweaking this time?
Norlander
Don't besmirch Guster. Not here, not on this psa. Yes, that's why this three minute audio blurb is in the feed to begin with. We're doing a couple of tweaks. Okay, let's let the people know what they need to know about the shoot around series.
Gary Parish
GP okay, so here's the deal. Our shoot around series, it's going to feature 16 teams this offseason. But unlike past years when there was only one team up for auction for a bonus episode, we're going to have three fan bases be able to win a bonus episode this off season if their bids are highest, with all of the money going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. And we're planning on putting those auction episodes up for grabs on ebay again. And you still got time to get involved. The auctions, they won't even go live until August. But be sure to stay up to date with the podcast to get the information and links you need to know so you can bid if your school isn't already on the roster for the summer shoot around. On that note, Norlander, why don't you go ahead, tell listeners what teams we do have lined up.
Norlander
Yes. Okay, sounds good. We have a baker's dozen of predetermined teams and here is the list of those teams in alphabetical order. Now, will this be the actual order of the episode that published? That would spoil the anticipation, so you'll have to wait for them to hit the feed to find out. Our 2025 shoot around schools are Arkansas, BYU, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Houston, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Purdue, St. John's and Texas Tech.
Gary Parish
And then we're going to have three more auction winning episodes with three other schools after that, right?
Norlander
Correct. So if your school was not just named by me, hit that back button. 15, 30 seconds. If I didn't list your school, go ahead, get ready to bid. Get your Rally them up. Those shows are going to dominate our feed over the next six weeks here. And while we've done every shoot around with you and me in the past, we've got some summer vacation plans. They're bumping up on your end. On my end, and they are conflicting with some of the schedules. So we're going to do some of the episodes with you and I, but other episodes will either have you or me joined by a special guest from across college basketball. It's another tweak. It could be some really fun folks that are joining and they also happen to know what they're talking about.
Gary Parish
Okay, mixing it up a bit. I dig it should be a good time.
Norlander
Yeah, we almost never do guests on the podcast, but we've turned and in fact, frankly we've turned down titans in the industry on this podcast. Titans, I tell you. But it's the middle of summer. We both promised to spend more time with our families and we were asked just to give it a try just for this series, for a small sampling of episodes. So what's the harm, right?
Gary Parish
Oh, it feels very w pipish. Like I hope you know what you're doing, but if I look up in February, we done lost this show to Jay Wright and Gene Sterrator. We are going to both of us look at. We're going to look back on this with some real regret.
Norlander
Hey, I said no spoilers on the guest. Tell the people what they need to know about where to follow, where to track and how to prep for these shooter run apps that are going to hit the feed in just a couple of days.
Gary Parish
All right, here's the important stuff. Go follow CBS Sports CBB on X and Instagram and I on CBB Podcast on X to get updates on our summer shoot around publishing schedule and links to all the auction pages. And don't worry, we're still going to have normal episodes on news developments as they pop up. There is more of us than there are of them and there's a lot more. I own college basketball content coming to this podcast feed in the days ahead, so make sure you subscribe. Just like Hawk. Just like Larnell.
