Field Yates
You've seen the headlines, heard the debates.
Stefania Bell
The three point ball has created a monotonous rhythm to the game.
Field Yates
Has the three pointer ruined basketball? And how did we get here? The rise of the three point shot can be partially traced to an eccentric Kansas genius named Martin Manley, whose story didn't turn out quite the way he imagined. I decided I wanted to have one of the most organized goodbyes in history. 30 for 30 podcast presents Chasing Basketball Heaven. Available now wherever you get your podcasts. Coming to the stage, let's introduce the cast. You know, you know him, you love him.
Chris Mortensen
He's my favorite person named after a patch of grass. Give it up for Fields Yates. Let's keep it going for America's sweetheart.
Field Yates
I want you to make a nice round welcome to Stephanya Bell.
Chris Mortensen
And let's get it. Let's give it up for everybody's favorite secret squirrel in his crappy band T shirts. Make it loud right now for Daniel Dub. And we do have a second America sweetheart right now.
Field Yates
I want you to start making it loud right now for Liz Loza.
Chris Mortensen
And last but not least, come on, give it up for the best ESPN's best best comedian.
Field Yates
Come on right now.
Chris Mortensen
Give it up for Mike Clay. I've been Chris Milhouse guy. Thank you very much.
Field Yates
Enjoy the show.
Chris Mortensen
How about that? Give us another big shout out for Chris. Thank you so much for those intros, buddy. Welcome into Fantasy Focus Football, my friends. How exciting. How many of you have been to a live show before? Have any of you been to a live Fantasy Focus taping before? Look at only a few of you. Oh, my gosh. These welcome back experiences. This is going to be so much fun. All right, we have so much planned for you guys today. We're going to dive into a bunch of different topics, but first and foremost, if you'll just allow me this, I just want to say hello to my friends here. Yeah, like field, of course. You look beautiful as you all you probably. It looks like you use a little field and shoulders today. Is that true?
Field Yates
I did use some field and shoulders. Today is a wash day. I've learned once you grow your hair out long, you can't wash it.
Chris Mortensen
You don't wash it every day.
Field Yates
I've got great tips from Stefania and Liz. They say twice a week, maximum. Today was a wash day. Little head and shoulders. Everybody's feeling fine and dandy.
Chris Mortensen
I love it. I love it.
Field Yates
By the way, I don't like to correct people with how they do their job. Chris, if you're out there, if you're still listening right there. We actually put Mike last because he is least. That was.
Mike Clay
First of all, rude. But second of all, I'm not even joking. I came prepared. I went down to my basement last night, dug out, went through my jerseys, brought a nice, beautiful autographed Chad Pennington jersey and Jetra, not joking. It's sitting behind the stage because I forgot it. I walked out here, completely forgot it. He's going to lock the door when I go out.
Chris Mortensen
Yes, that is accurate. That is accurate.
Mike Clay
I'll bring it out for the. I'll bring it out later. Yeah, we'll go find it. We are so. I can't believe it.
Chris Mortensen
I cannot believe that you guys are here. Thank you so much for coming to hang out with us especially. Just honestly, sometimes you forget how many people you get to hang out with on a daily basis because we don't get to see you every day, but you guys get to see us. So being able to see your faces and see you here is just one of the most amazing things for us whenever we come on the road. So thank you seriously, for being here today. We're going to have a ton of fun, though. If you guys are right with it, we got a bunch of fun segments that we're going to give to you guys. Please feel free to be able to have a little bit of fun. Don't feel like you need to be quiet, like you can be rowdy. It's okay. We're all right with it. We worked with Matthew Berry for a long time. I promise we can deal with rowdiness. All right. All right, let's start with a fantasy focused road trip. This is a new segment that we are going to do that I think is going to be a lot of fun because this is the first part of our road trip. We are doing New York City and then we're going to the freakin Bahamas again. Field Yates.
Field Yates
That's right. Mike's going to Miami in between. Yeah. There will be another trip down there to the south.
Mike Clay
Still in Miami, mentally. Okay.
Chris Mortensen
We can tell.
Mike Clay
Yeah.
Field Yates
If we have the greatest crowd in the history of fantasy Focus Live shows. Mike has offered to pay for three people to join us in the Bahamas. So no pressure, America, no pressure.
Mike Clay
We're just kidding. I'll gladly do that just because that trip is so great. I just. It's such a fun time. So, yeah, more the merrier. Bring it.
Stefania Bell
No injuries this year.
Chris Mortensen
That's right.
Mike Clay
Was there an injury last year?
Field Yates
Let me tell you guys, Let me tell you a little something. About the islands down there of Nassau Bahama, they got the best laughing gas known to man. I'm telling you, in outer space. There's some video that I don't know what the stakes are going to be, but at some point I have offered up to potentially release some of the files. This is like. Like, this is high level stuff here, you know, I don't know. I don't know what the stakes are yet. But we're gonna develop it over time and figure it out. Because some people were laughing in eternity despite the fact that I was sitting there with one arm hanging outside the body.
Stefania Bell
Listen, I have before the laughing gas and after the laughing gas. They're amazing video of Field Yates, so we might have to break that up.
Mike Clay
There was nothing funny about the before. True story. We were at the beach and I was sitting behind Field. Cause Stefania was on it, right? She's excellent. She was there, she was caring for Field and she was like, mike, I need your help behind Field. And I thought she was going to pop his arm back in. And I almost passed out. I mean, I was like, please don't do it, don't do it. Like, I was there to, like, hold him up, essentially. And I was like, I'm not going to make it through this, Mike. It was not good.
Stefania Bell
Had no help. So Liz is coming for.
Chris Mortensen
I was just going to say you're.
Mike Clay
In charge of Field this year.
Stefania Bell
Yes.
Chris Mortensen
We needed a chaperone, so obviously Liz is going to be there also. Liz, thanks for being here and doing a live show with us. Every time we get to do a show with you, it's amazing.
Liz Loza
It is awesome to thank you for welcoming me in. I love this city. The vibes are going to be amazing. And I promise to only make a couple of jokes about your pizza.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, okay. All right. All right, listen, Liz is going to be spicy.
Stefania Bell
They turn fast.
Liz Loza
They turn fast.
Chris Mortensen
It happens. All right, let's start out this fantasy focused road trip, if you guys don't mind. We're starting in New York City, then we're hitting up the Bahamas. We figured along the way, why not have a little bit of fun with this? So Field, I'm going to give every single one of us, like a little situation right field. You got someone potentially riding shotgun with you. Who are you going to bring with you riding shotgun, which is your fantasy favorite here?
Field Yates
If you think that I'm above pandering, you are incredibly incorrect because of course I'm thinking about the New York crowd that we are with tonight. I'm Riding shotgun with Malik Neighbors, who, by the way, yeah, baby. Yeah. Give it up for Malik Neighbors, who. His current ADP on ESPN is 11th overall, which let me tell you what that feels like. It could be a major bargain. We don't talk about players going 11th overall as a potential bargain very often, but Neighbors, as you all know, last season had 175 targets that was the second most in the NFL, only behind Jamar Chase. And I. You know, the transfer portal exists in college football now, and, like, every time I look, it's like, you know, so and so is transferred from Ohio State to Alabama, but, like, small schools, too. You know, it's like. Like Cortland State, which is up in upstate New York, transfer to, like, you know, whatever. Eastern Missouri State. No Giants quarterback the start of the game last year was accepted in the transfer portal. They were all that bad. So Malik Neighbors gets this gigantic quarterback upgrade. I mean, massive. Like, even if you don't think Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston or potentially even Jackson Dart is like, a guarantee to be great, like, it's definitely better than where we were last year. Right? Like, we're in a much better spot here for Malik Neighbors. And we also know, like, Jameis Winston makes your fantasy dreams come true. Like, if you don't agree with that, Amen. It probably means you don't love life if you don't enjoy watching what he does. For fantasy football wide receivers, the Giants did not add anybody really of note this off season amongst the pass catchers as well. So I think Malik Neighbors could easily challenge for the NFL's lead in targets, catches, maybe even receiving yards. We'll see on the touchdowns. I don't think this offense is going to be elite, but good enough in those departments to be better than, like, wide receiver six, which is where he's going in some drafts right now.
Chris Mortensen
Gosh, honestly, that is a little bit of pandering to the crowd. But you know what? There's nothing wrong with that field, Jace.
Field Yates
Okay, so it's not pandering when you say I acknowledge that I'm not.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, you're right.
Field Yates
Okay.
Chris Mortensen
When you say I'm not pandering, it's not pandering. You're right.
Field Yates
Say no offense. Right.
Chris Mortensen
All right, Stefania, offensive. Let's say that you have a navigator you're going along this a guy that's never going to get your fantasy team lost. Mr. Reliable, who you bringing along on this fantasy road trip?
Stefania Bell
First of all, I love that you all assigned me Mr. Reliable because that assumes that I know what what it takes to be reliable and consistent.
Chris Mortensen
You are the reliable.
Stefania Bell
Somebody who's been around this podcast for quite some time. We won't name the amount of years, but I am now pandering to the over 30 crowd. Right. That's in my wheelhouse. Right? Come on. Yes. So than you. So we all know that as you get more mature, you're a little more reliable. You're a little more consistent. So that's why I am pointing out that wide receiver Mike Evans is going to be of value in your draft because every year people say the wheels are about to fall off. I know Mike Clay, that he is 31 going on 32. Mike is ageist. We know this. But Mike Evans has 11,000 yard receiving seasons in a row and he is set to try and break Jerry Rice's record. Now, you all know I'm a 49ers fan. You know how I love Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice said he hopes that Mike Evans breaks the record. We know that Baker Mayfield made a point to get Mike Evans that record last year despite him missing a few games because of a hamstring injury. And if you want to point out that he's had a hamstring injury, he also came back in actually really good time from an injury that I thought was maybe going to cost him longer. If you look across his season, he's barely missed any time. He hasn't had any significant injuries. He's had a hamstring here and there, which is typical for a wide receiver. But I think Mike Evans is going to be a value pick that will be consistent and reliable in that offense. I have some concerns about Chris Godwin and when he's going to make it back. Mike Evans, trust me, reliable, consistent, he's my navigator.
Chris Mortensen
Whenever Stefania says trust me, I feel like I have to pay extra attention there. All right, Bringing Mike Evans along. Liz, I'm going to turn to you as the vibe master of the trip, the dj, let's say, who's bringing the vibes for us on this fantasy road trip.
Liz Loza
Well, how can I not talk about Ben Johnson, formally your offensive coordinator, who is full of the aura he. He is bringing a second year breakout to one Romo Dunze in the second city. I know my various friends are on pride. We gotta get the bad part out of the way, right? It was not a great rookie campaign. He averaged eight and a half fantasy points per game. But I do think that Johnson can unlock his undeniable alpha status. This is a player that was drafted ninth overall. He excels in contested situations, which I think will quickly make him Caleb Williams favorite target. I'm not worried about the other mouths to feed and I think DJ Moore might be on notice.
Field Yates
Ooh, I get Liz has put him on notice.
Chris Mortensen
I love it from our residents.
Liz Loza
DJ Moore, please don't see this and tell anyone I love you.
Field Yates
Fun fact two seasons ago Roma Dunes Last year at Washington he had 44 contested catches, tied for the most in all of the FBs. I like to make a point that makes Liz's already brilliant point look my.
Liz Loza
Favorite on the panel.
Chris Mortensen
This is why it's great. Of course, obviously Mike your least favorite on the panel, but we'll go to him next. That's our right.
Liz Loza
I hate when they talk to you.
Chris Mortensen

Chris Mortensen
It's thousands of stories in the making.
Field Yates
Like that one league that hasn't missed a draft since the 20th century. Or the one that decides their draft order by competing in a legit athletic combine.
Chris Mortensen
Or the league where if you come.
Field Yates
In last, you have to sit in a closet and assemble a 300 piece.

A rest stop pickup. Let's say we're picking up a hitchhiker from a rest stop. Obviously you would be the one to do that out of the group, which is why we gave you this question. But a waiver wire steal maybe. Who's someone that you would bring along off the waiver wire on our fantasy road trip?
Mike Clay
Well, I'm, I'm feeling blue now. I don't want to.
Chris Mortensen
Wow.
Mike Clay
See what I did there? I do see what I did there. Jade and blue sleeper we're looking at. So I can do those transitions too.
Chris Mortensen
That was good. That was pretty good.
Mike Clay
I can do it. Look, I'm, I'm looking. Of course we're in New York City. I could pander too much like field. It's. We're looking for that next Tyrone Tracy, right? That guy that's like day three draft pick. The guy we could pick late in our draft. It turns out to be a weekly starter for us down the stretch like Tracy was last season. Well, Tracy was a 5th round pick this year. Jaden Blue is a 5th round pick and he goes to Dallas. And look, I don't know if any of you had Javante Williams on your teams last year.
Chris Mortensen
Maybe.
Mike Clay
Didn'T go great. Not very efficient the last couple of years in Denver. Miles Sanders, maybe it took a shot on him when he went to Carolina a couple years ago. That hasn't gone too well. And I just cannot see either of them emerging into a consistent fantasy option all year long. So look, Jaden Blue, a little undersized, a little under £200. So you wonder if he's ever going to be a 20 touch guy. But we've seen a little bit of a change in the league the last couple years where these guys in that sort of range, like a Bucky Irving last year, have been very good in fantasy. In fact, you look at notable running backs picked after round Four or who were undrafted over the last decade. James Robinson, Jordan Howard, Philip Lindsay, Tyrone Tracy, Elijah Mitchell, Tyler Algier, Isaiah Pacheco. They were fantasy relevant, like we were using those guys as rookies in fantasy. And they were starters throughout the season. So, you know, Blues, a fast running back, didn't have a lot of volume in college, but can catch the ball, can run the ball again. I can get past the size up because of the opportunity in the Dallas offense.
Field Yates
Good call by Mike. Can I ask a question to not just the panel, but the crowd? Yes. Okay. I don't know what said yes, but I'll just imagine you guys said yes. Remember that time a few years ago when the Falcons drafted Bajan Robinson 8th overall? And then Arthur Smith was like, yo, Tyler Algier. Yes. 150 carries this year and all the good ones by the goal line. You get the. Those two. Now, you're not going to score touchdowns, but you're going to piss off all of America when you do. So here's the football. We're running halfback, dive left. I don't know, I just, I felt like open up.
Mike Clay
Was that a. Yeah. Is there a point there?
Chris Mortensen
I was just like, hey, we all dislike Arthur Smith too, I guess.
Field Yates
No, the point was every time you say Tyler Algier, just.
Mike Clay
Oh, you just remind me.
Field Yates
You got to give me a warning.
Mike Clay
Okay, all right, I got you. All right.
Chris Mortensen
Warning.
Mike Clay
He's just trying to trigger everyone.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah, that's okay. Okay, same page.
Mike Clay
All right, fair.
Chris Mortensen
All right, then I'm going to do the last one, if you guys don't mind, because I get the last seat on our fantasy road trip who gets to ride in the middle. And I'm going to pick a rookie, for what it's worth, because if anyone's going to sit in the middle, it's not a veteran. It's got to be a rookie, right? That's the one who gets the middle seat. And it's got to be Ashton Genty, because the dude's 5 foot 8. I picked the smallest guy to get in that middle seat.
Stefania Bell
But listen, I always end up in.
Chris Mortensen
The middle seat, right? Because you're little. And that's how it works. It's like, all right, you got to get there. Ashton Genty, 5 foot 8. But I'll tell you what, he's going to play a lot bigger than that this year. If you want to get Ashton Genty in your fantasy draft, you're going to have to take him in the first round. He's not going to make it out of the first round for you guys. He is going to absolutely anchor your running back room for your fantasy squad. Pete Carroll is going to give the ball to him nonstop in that Raiders offense. It's going to look a lot better, too. With Geno Smith adding at the quarterback spot. The offense is just going to be a lot better in general. So, Ashton Genti, it's not like I'm telling you guys something you don't know, but if I'm bringing someone along, he's the guy that I'm putting in the middle seat.
Field Yates
Should we test the fans here a little bit? I can't. I admittedly can't see the people like past like 12 rows. Maybe we'll do it by. By, like by. By an audible notification as opposed to just your thumbs up, thumbs down here. But I think one of the more interesting debates going into drafts is who's the fourth running back off the board. Most likely it's going to be Bijan, Jameer Gibbs and Bijan. Excuse me. And saquon Barkley. Christian McCaffrey versus Ashton Jensen.
Chris Mortensen
Ooh. Hey, you guys got. I'll tell you what. All right, so let's pull these out. Let's pull these out. You've got a thumbs up and a thumbs down. I'm gonna ask all the thumbs up for Christian McCaffrey. Let me see the CMCS. That's a good number right there. All right, now let's put them down real quick now if you're an Ashton Genti over cmc, Let me see those hands. All right. Not quite as. Yeah, there are a lot of. Definitely a good group, but not as many genties as there is cmc.
Mike Clay
Wait, can I tee up Stefania then on this? Should we be worried off the injury last season and his old, old age of 29 years old?
Stefania Bell
Okay, we know how Mike feels about Christian McCaffrey.
Mike Clay
I voted for him for the record.
Stefania Bell
29. Listen, there is a risk, a risk involved in anybody who has missed a good chunk of the prior season. We always know that. Christian McCaffrey, though, is a unicorn. I've said this before and what he has done in the past is he has come back from seasons where he's had injury and produced the highest numbers of his career thus far. That's what he's done when he's had injuries in the past and if you recall, when he was injured in Carolina and then when he. The following season he transferred over to San Francisco. So he played more games than usual because they went deep into the postseason. Christian McCaffrey, I'm here to tell you, and especially if you play in PPR league, which is our default standard league, he's projected for the most receptions of any running back. Correct. And guess what? They're hurting for pass catchers. San Francisco is just out there at training camp. Christian McCaffrey is a regular target for Brock Purdy to move the chains down the field. Christian McCaffrey will be heavily involved. Of course, there's always going to be risk. There's risk at the running back position for everyone. And we know that he had this history, but he came back to OTAs 100%. He did not want any restrictions starting in the spring, so he came back ready to go. He's got an incredible work ethic. By the way, end of practice, who do I see go by me on a scooter? Because we do not put one extra step into our effort during the preseason so that we're sure that we're ready.
Chris Mortensen
That's why I ride scooters everywhere.
Mike Clay
Yes.
Stefania Bell
So I. By the way, Christian McCaffrey has moved up my draft boards. I know that you guys might think I'm biased, but I. At the beginning, when we started doing mock drafts, I was thinking, take him at the turn if he was still around, you know, end of the first round, beginning of the second. Now I was in the Scott Fishbowl. I took him as my running back, as my starting player.
Mike Clay
You're sure he's not riding that scooter because of his old age, though, right?
Stefania Bell
Is that he rode by me with his shirt off. And if you rode by. I am. I am a fit. I am a physical therapist.
Chris Mortensen
It is my job, okay.
Stefania Bell
To evaluate.
Mike Clay
All right.
Chris Mortensen
Dr. Physiques.
Field Yates
Yes.
Stefania Bell
It's my job.
Field Yates
Yes.
Stefania Bell
But I'm just saying, my clay.
Mike Clay
What is that? I don't. I don't rank guys based on if they have big muscles. Okay. That's not how we do this.
Chris Mortensen
I feel like I need to ask one last question that the audience probably needs to know. You didn't shake anyone's hand or touch them while you were at training camp. Because versus Stefania Bell is real and we're worried about it.
Stefania Bell
Okay? So I do have one little admission to make, which is.
Mike Clay
All right, who am I crossing off this list?
Stefania Bell
At the end of the first day, I got one on one time with Isaac Grando.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, no.
Stefania Bell
The next day, he left practice with a shoulder injury.
Chris Mortensen
Stefania.
Stefania Bell
And he's not going to do anything more in the preseason. Now, from what I understand, does not appear Serious. They're obviously going to, you know, be cautious with him because he is so, so important to them should anything happen to Christian McAv.
Mike Clay
Okay, so we need a field scatter report on Jordan James.
Field Yates
Jordan James, who also broke his finger today. Yeah. So I'm not kidding. What I was going to say is for those of you that aren't physical therapies, but would like to see Mike with his shirt off, head on over Google, the ESPN Baja Mar excursion. That's right. You can join us there. No, this is a good thing. I'm saying this.
Liz Loza
Well, what about. What about McCaffrey with that, with his shirt off?
Field Yates
You could probably go to Instagram.
Chris Mortensen
Pretty sure the Google can find that for you.
Mike Clay
Yeah, that's much better.
Field Yates
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
All right. Hey, that was a good road trip, all right. Getting us started. Getting us ready for the Bahamas. Appreciate it. You guys. Let's do a little Facts versus Feelings, if you don't mind. Liz Loza, obviously. I believe you just had a podcast come out as well with a friend of ours, did you not?
Liz Loza
I've had three.
Chris Mortensen
I think Thirsty Kyle Sophie was just recently this.
Liz Loza
Today, today, Facts versus Feelings with Kyle Soppi as my guest, a Focus regular.
Chris Mortensen
That's for all those old fans that have been with us. Kyle a bunch.
Field Yates
So old. If you listen to Kyle, he was here like two years ago.
Chris Mortensen
I know. And also, it sucks. You know, you're not allowed to use the word old and Thirsty Kyle in the same sentence because he still looks like he's 16 years old. It's ridiculous.
Field Yates
Like, they don't ID Kyle at the bar. They ID Kyle walking into. Into the middle school his wife works at. Yeah, like, what grade are you going to, son?
Chris Mortensen
Yes.
Field Yates
Wow.
Mike Clay
Kyle did not think he'd be catching strays.
Chris Mortensen
No, not today.
Field Yates
Wait, since when is being considered youthful a bad thing? I love. We all love Kyle.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah, we don't say that about you.
Mike Clay
You know What? Look, I'm 40 now, okay?
Chris Mortensen
I know. I'm a man.
Field Yates
You're 40.
Chris Mortensen
You're a man. Yes. All right, all right. So let's get this back on track. Bring a little facts versus Feelings to this. Why not lean into it, Liz? We should maybe give out little fact, a fact or a feeling that we have on a player, each one of us. But I want to start with you because this is your thing. It is Facts versus Feelings with Liz Loza. If you've got a fact or a feeling on a player this year, please tell our audience.
Mike Clay
Aren't we. Aren't we utilizing the things for this.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, my gosh, you're right. Thank you, Mike.
Mike Clay
At least I'm here to like, do the like show you guys.
Field Yates
Without you.
Chris Mortensen
That is my fault. We're going to pull these out and when we give the factor feeling, we want you guys to say whether you agree with it, which means you throw this up or if you disagree with it, you throw the red one up. So we're going to let everyone go first and we're going to find out what you guys think after.
Liz Loza
So I say the thing. First they vote and then I tell them why they're right or wrong.
Chris Mortensen
Yes.
Liz Loza
Or we all do that. But that's what we're doing.
Chris Mortensen
Okay.
Liz Loza
So I have a feeling, a very strong one, that Jordan Mason will end the 2025 regular season as fantasies are with.
Field Yates
Hold up.
Liz Loza
See, that's called a tease, guys.
Mike Clay
I'll show a bad start.
Liz Loza
Jordan Mason will end 2025 as a top 20 fantasy running back.
Mike Clay
All right.
Stefania Bell
Okay. Top.
Liz Loza
I think a lot a top 20 fantasy running back. So I have Daniel saying yes, feeling no. Mike Clay saying no. Mike Clay, who's the supposed ageist. Let's get into this.
Chris Mortensen
It's split in the audience right now.
Liz Loza
Jordan Mason.
Stefania Bell
I feel. I feel guilty.
Liz Loza
You feel guilty. But did you vote yes or no?
Stefania Bell
I kind of half voted.
Mike Clay
Oh, half voted. Oh, okay.
Chris Mortensen
All right.
Stefania Bell
Because we know. We know where Jordan Mason came from.
Chris Mortensen
He's going to finish as a top 20 running back.
Liz Loza
So I understand the hesitancy. Right. Because this is a person who has been overshadowed for his entire career. Happened at Georgia Tech, happened in San Francisco, but. And now he is slated to be a backup. But when given the opportunity to shine, he has done so. He was the RB5 in YPC last year. Averaged 5.2 yards per carry. He also managed three top five fantasy RB finishes when he got his start over the first four games as the 49ers starter. More importantly, do we not think that a 30 year old Aaron Jones, who is coming off of a 30306 total touch season, might need to be gassed most touches of his career, particularly in the red area of the field, which is exactly where a grinder like Mason can thrive? I think that Mason will end up the short yardage slash goal line option in a great offense, working behind an awesome offensive line, offering fantasy managers weekly upside beyond a backup level. And he's available in the 14th rounds. Girl, this one's easy.
Chris Mortensen
I'm in on this. Yes, I agree with you, Liz, but I know the rest of Our friends do not. So I'm gonna open up the floor. Why do you guys not agree with this tape?
Field Yates
Not gonna lie. Liz is pretty persuasive. The only hesitation I have, Liz, is that the vikings are gonna lose 68. 0 against the Bears in Week 18 to clinch the division for the Bears.
Liz Loza
Happy to be wrong.
Field Yates
Happy to be wrong. I could see like a six carry, negative three yard performance.
Chris Mortensen
I still think with three touchdowns, Jerome Bettis.
Field Yates
I think there's enough gas left in the tank for Aaron Jones to hold him off. And Jordan Mason was wonderful last season. He's not enough of a pass catcher for me to feel like even if he does become way ahead of Aaron Jones, he also is going to be way ahead in the catch.
Mike Clay
Yeah, that's where I was going to go. I mean, he has been super efficient as a rusher in the league. Believe it or not, since he's been in league, he ranks fifth in yards per carry and first in yards after contact. So he's been a very effective rusher. However, he has 14 career receptions. I think Christian McCaffrey might add 14 in a game at some point like that.
Field Yates
That's.
Mike Clay
That's tough for me. They really. San Francisco did not trust him in the passing game at all. Hopefully that'll change in Minnesota, but as I'm going to get to here shortly, a little foreshadowing. Minnesota scores a lot of their touchdowns through the air. And if you had Aaron Jones on your team last year, you know he didn't find the end zone very often. So that's my concern with the ceiling for Jordan Mason.
Chris Mortensen
Interesting. Liz already said all the things that I agree with. I'm with you. Aaron Jones had the most touches of his career last year, the most goal to go rushes of his career. Obviously Jordan Mason is going to come in and be more of that guy. At a minimum. I think it's going to be more of a committee than what we saw last year, which is easy to say because Aaron Jones was the lead back without anyone behind him. But I do believe that Jordan Mason will have value, at least for bye weeks for people. But I believe that. But I. I believe that there is still more in his game than what the rest of these hooligans.
Mike Clay
Daniel's just moving the goalpost so he could argue with me.
Chris Mortensen
That's.
Field Yates
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
Isn't that what we do?
Liz Loza
Or maybe because ACT is. I'm right.
Chris Mortensen
Yes.
Field Yates
What else is new? All right, who's next?
Chris Mortensen
I guess Mike, Why don't we go with you?
Field Yates
Yeah.
Mike Clay
Okay. We'll go right to. Yeah. Because mine is the Minnesota Vikings as well, so we're going really same team. But I'm going to go with the quarterback position with the de facto rookie, J.J. mcCarthy. I say that I have a feeling. I'm actually going to go. Feeling?
Liz Loza
Whoa.
Field Yates
Not feeling. I do.
Chris Mortensen
Legitimately just grab the couch that she's sitting on. It's okay.
Liz Loza
Should I do it some more?
Chris Mortensen
Oh, wow. We heard it.
Liz Loza
Heard it.
Chris Mortensen
All right.
Mike Clay
All right. So anyway, I got a feeling for.
Chris Mortensen
This seat after the show.
Mike Clay
My feeling is that J.J. mcCarthy will finish as the top 12 scoring fantasy quarterback.
Stefania Bell
Wow.
Mike Clay
Well, bring it. Let's go.
Stefania Bell
12.
Mike Clay
Bring the hate. Bring it.
Chris Mortensen
All right. For those listening at home, this will.
Mike Clay
Make the victory so much sweeter.
Chris Mortensen
I think we got more no's than we get. Yeses in the crowd.
Field Yates
I'll tell you what.
Chris Mortensen
What?
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
Change their mind.
Stefania Bell
Make your case.
Chris Mortensen
All right, I will.
Mike Clay
Change your mind.
Chris Mortensen
Guys, check this out.
Mike Clay
I like J.J. all right, so think about this.
Stefania Bell
12.
Mike Clay
Kevin O' Connell calling the plays up there in Minnesota. He's been there for three seasons. Year one, Kirk Cousins, top 12 scoring fantasy quarterback, without running very much. Year two, Kirk Cousins, top 12 scoring Fantasy quarterback, didn't run very much last year. Sam Darnold. Okay, jets fans, wow. You know, you know what he looked like in New York? Kevin o' Connell takes him and what does he do? Makes him a top 12 scoring fantasy quarterback. All three of those offense score scored at least 80% of their touchdowns through the air. All three were pass heavy. He has Justin Jefferson. He's going to have, we'll say, 14 games of Jordan Addison, TJ Hawkinson, Aaron Jones out of the backfield. Sufficient offensive line. Everything sets up well for McCarthy to put up some big numbers. He's even have to play great football. He is in such a good situation to put up big numbers. So he's one of my favorite late sleepers at quarterback.
Chris Mortensen
Can I just say, like, I don't disagree with a lot of what Mike's saying because I'm in on like the upside of J.J. mcCarthy and this Kevin O' Connell offense. It's just that there's enough quarterbacks that I feel like in that top 12 is the only reason why I said no on this, But I agree with a lot of.
Mike Clay
Well, I have a feeling that you're wrong. So. Okay, that's the fun about feelings. You know, we can just.
Chris Mortensen
All right.
Stefania Bell
I mean, yeah, Mike has a feeling.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah.
Field Yates
Which. Which wires loosen the computer.
Mike Clay
Right now, I'm just Trying to prove I'm not AI. Okay.
Field Yates
Control F7.
Mike Clay
Don't even start field. I leave right now.
Chris Mortensen
All right, I'm gonna go next if you guys don't mind.
Stefania Bell
What if we did?
Chris Mortensen
You do mind. If you don't mind, then you can.
Stefania Bell
Just say what if we did? But no, go ahead.
Chris Mortensen
I'm gonna go next. My feeling is nobody's doing any facts. That after showcasing what he could do once given the reins after week nine, that Chase Brown will clearly outperform his mid third round ADP and finish as a top ten running back.
Mike Clay
All right.
Chris Mortensen
In fantasy football. Let me see those.
Field Yates
All right. Whoa.
Liz Loza
It's almost unanimous.
Chris Mortensen
Look at that.
Mike Clay
I'll give that. I have to. I wanted to disagree.
Chris Mortensen
I feel like three.
Field Yates
I see.
Stefania Bell
You might. You might. You might win the night.
Field Yates
You just reread the second part. I said after giving the ring.
Chris Mortensen
Chase Brown will finish. He will outperform his mid third round ADP and finish as a top 10 running back.
Field Yates
Did you just like when given the reigns after week nine?
Chris Mortensen
This. After seeing him get the. The reigns after week nine?
Stefania Bell
Yeah, I thought I was like same. I thought you were saying like after week nine.
Chris Mortensen
No, no. Once we got to see him as a starting running back, he showed us now what he's going to be able to do in 2025.
Field Yates
If he doesn't get it, then I don't feel so bad about it.
Chris Mortensen
For what it's worth, that's my bad.
Field Yates
Don't, Liz. I just broke my chair too.
Chris Mortensen
See.
Field Yates
Thank you. Telling you.
Chris Mortensen
Wow.
Liz Loza
This is not.
Chris Mortensen
You guys been working out really? I'll tell you what, because I had confirmed. No, I came down here a little bit earlier today and so I didn't get a chance to work out. If any of you want to do a beer mile afterwards so I could get some steps in. Maybe. Maybe after the show we'll get something like that. And here's what I had to say on Chase Brown after Week 9 once he became the starter. Sorry for making that confusing. Chase Brown was running back two in targets, running back two in catches, running back three in goal to go rushes and running back four in fantasy points per game, averaging 20.9 points. They did not add anyone else to that backfield. That defense sucks. That offense is going to have to carry that team. And with Joe burrow putting up 30 points a game for the Bengals, Chase Brown is just going to repeat, baby. I'm all in on him this year. And I appreciate if you listen to the podcast yesterday, which was Thursday for Those listening at home. I heard Mike, you were in our Q and A segment saying Daniel's probably furious because he was like, I was all in on Chase Brown before everyone else. I was in on Chase Brown before the rest of you hooligans, for what it's worth. So that's where I'm at. All right, Stefania, you want to go.
Mike Clay
Next by the way?
Stefania Bell
Why not? Okay. Yeah, I guess it's a feeling because the season hasn't played out yet. So I guess these are all going to be feelings. And my feeling, obviously close to my heart, going to stick with the 49ers in the bay area.
Chris Mortensen
My yes, baby. Who said it?
Stefania Bell
You're feeling me. You are feeling me. Ricky Pierce Hall.
Chris Mortensen
I'm already going to say. I don't need to hear the rest of the sentence.
Stefania Bell
Do we even need to say anymore before the Green Arrows go up? Ricky. Ricky. All right, come on, help me, Daniel. My feeling is I think Mike has him projected his wide receiver 45 right now. I believe he will finish in the top 25 wide receivers. Yep.
Chris Mortensen
That's bold. That's bold. I love it, Stefania.
Mike Clay
I hope I'm wrong, but come on, I gotta play the odds.
Stefania Bell
Okay. I better not see you draft. None of you better draft him and benefit from him.
Chris Mortensen
That's right.
Mike Clay
I like him as a target, but I can't go that far right now.
Field Yates
At the Home Depot you'll find storage solutions made to fit your needs. Grab an HDX Tuff Toe to protect your tools or keep your sports equipment contained with reinforced snap fit lids. Or stack up and make better use of your space with bins and totes built to last. Whatever your story, we've got the gear.
Mike Clay
To keep it organized and protected at the Home Depot.
Field Yates
How doers get more done.
Chris Mortensen
Give me some stats, Stefania.
Stefania Bell
It's a feeling. I don't need it.
Chris Mortensen
All right, you're right. I'm sorry.
Stefania Bell
Okay, here's the thing. Let me remind you of the 49ers pass catchers.
Chris Mortensen
Okay.
Stefania Bell
Debo Samuel. Oh, wait, he's gone.
Chris Mortensen
Yep.
Stefania Bell
Juwan Jennings. Oh, wait, he's hurt.
Chris Mortensen
Yep.
Stefania Bell
Brandon Aiyuk. Nope, nope. Not expected to start the season on time. Ricky Pierce all.
Liz Loza
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
So your pass catchers, your top pass catchers, demarcus Robinson.
Stefania Bell
And.
Chris Mortensen
Well, there's.
Stefania Bell
There's a slew, but there's a. Like.
Chris Mortensen
Of course we're seeing wide receivers. Of course George Kittle is there, right?
Stefania Bell
Of course, George Kittle. And obviously the offense has opened up for him. So you're your top pass catchers that you could name right now for your fantasy team, I guarantee you are Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Ricky Pearsall. When I was Ricky Pearsall's running with the ones he went to Arizona in the off season with Brock. He went to Jacksonville in the off season with Brock. Brock Purdy talked about how he and Ricky Pearsall started to work on Pearsall's route running and timing. Because if you remember Ricky Pearsall got shot in the chest last year. Okay, like show me somebody who's tougher than that. He comes back. Didn't play until week seven at the end of the season last year, the final two weeks, eight catches for 141 yards in a touchdown and six for 69 in a touchdown. He only played half a season after getting shot. So he is going to be better.
Chris Mortensen
What I will say, I don't want to say that like when you say who's tougher than that like field didn't get shot. He did dislocate his shoulder and didn't miss a single show of fantasy focus.
Field Yates
For what it's worth, you said it, not me.
Stefania Bell
The thing I was going to say about Ricky Piersall, so I watched Ricky Piersol is Clearly, the number one wide receiver right now. I think it's going to stay that way for a while. And by the way, like the way he's running his routes is so much better. Brock talked about him saying to him a couple times, hey dude, I was open. Like why weren't you throwing it to me? And he's like, it doesn't matter that you were open. I need to know that you're at the right spot when I am throwing the ball because it's a timing offense. Well, so sure as you can imagine on Saturday that I'm there and we're watching, there's a point where Ricky Pirsho's running around. He's not even out of his break. Brock throws the ball and the timing was perfect. And I was able to talk to Brock after that and he's like, that's exactly what we're working on. He ran up to me, he's like, this is it. This is what I'm talking about. And you know when a quarterback starts to gain trust in a receiver and you got a young guy who is an up and comer who pass volume is going to be a thing for him and they're looking for him in the end zone. You wait. Okay. You wait.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah.
Stefania Bell
Top 25.
Chris Mortensen
True or false. Mike Clay. True or false.
Stefania Bell
Oh, and by the way, the 49ers have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL. So there's going to be a lot of points.
Chris Mortensen
You've got. You've got Brock Purdy, I think right now projected for like 4,500 passing yards. He's one of like the top passing quarterbacks in the league. He's got to find someone to throw the football.
Mike Clay
That I can add on there. I mean, I don't know what Kyle Shanahan has in his brain, but the fact that he gets so much out of that pass offense every year is unreal. I mean, Brock Purdy is going to average like 9 yards per pass attempt because so did C.J. beathard and Jimmy Garoppolo and everyone else that's been through there. It's unbelievable that he can do that. So you're going to definitely get some good efficiency numbers out of Frankie Pearsall.
Chris Mortensen
Love it. Love that feeling. All right. Feel. Bring us home, baby. Give us your facts versus feelings.
Field Yates
I forgot mine. Let me get my notes.
Chris Mortensen
Oh yeah, no big deal. No big deal. We're gonna just kind of.
Mike Clay
It's gonna be a rookie like Travis Hunter probably.
Chris Mortensen
It probably is gonna be.
Mike Clay
He's been all about Travis Hunter.
Field Yates
Anthony Richardson will be a top three quarterback. God damn it. Last year's notes. My bad.
Chris Mortensen
Last year's notes.
Mike Clay
You got me. I thought you were serious. I thought you really forgot. I. I'm over here trying to be a good TV friend and help you.
Field Yates
Out and I've got a feeling that Travis Hunter, a unicorn, a once in a lifetime type of prospect, a guy who is so good that his offensive minded head coach cannot resist temptation and is like, I know you can help us that a little bit on defense, but I'm trying to hang 30 on your. You know what, every single week. So you and Brian Thomas shooter are going to be playing a whole lot together and Travis Hunter be a top 24 wide receiver this season.
Chris Mortensen
24.
Field Yates
Wow. Wow. That's like are. That's the up. Oh my gosh. Wow, what a let down crowd.
Chris Mortensen
Wow. Top 24 is spicy field.
Mike Clay
Yeah, that's spicy.
Stefania Bell
Where's Brian Thomas? Where's.
Mike Clay
I gotta go down.
Chris Mortensen
All right. It looks like the crowd is. I mean it's mostly split 50, 50. Maybe a little more negative feel but you know, give us some love. Give Travis Hunter some love.
Field Yates
Well, you know the thing is that like there's not a lot of. I mean there's no professional statistical evidence to back this Up. I really do think, like, for all that the Jaguars are saying right now about playing on both sides of the ball, he will play on both sides of the ball. I also just have a very, very hard time thinking about a head coach who's an offensive guy only. And throughout free agency, it was like, I need this guy in office. I need this guy in office. I need this guy in offense. Like, he is going to have the most difficult time finding a way keeping this player off the field. On top of that, Brian Thomas Jr. Is amazing. There's a chance, people, that Travis Hunter is a better wide receiver than Brian Thomas Jr. Sooner. There's not a chance. You know what? Okay, who said no? Which one of you never watched college football in your entire life though? Never watched college football back there. All right, so college football is played on Saturdays. Thank you. We played. They play sometimes on Friday nights. But watch college football next year, you'll understand what I'm talking about. This guy's once in a lifetime. And Liam Cohen needs to get his quarterback right. And the best way to get his quarterback right is to give him as much support around him. If Travis Hunter is devastating fools like I know he can at the NFL level as a wide receiver. Liam Cohen, whose eyes get a little bit wider when he's talking about Travis as a wide receiver as opposed to like, yeah, Travis, good corner, like, helpful. You can't, you know, got to be. You got to be. Gotta be solid on third down right. Travis was a wide receiver like Travis. Man, this guy is unbelievable. I'm telling you, this route he ran last way. He stuck it at the top of the route and that corner got left in the dust. Like, Liam Cohen is going to have a hard time keeping that player up.
Chris Mortensen
Aren't you a little bit worried, though, about Brenton Strange, Liz's favorite tight end, stealing a few targets from Travis Hunter?
Liz Loza
You did not say chico conquo.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, you're right, you're right. I did not say chico conquo. You're right.
Field Yates
I like Strange as well. Wait, would you guys want to come in and say, hey, Lamar Jackson is going to be a number top five quarterback?
Mike Clay
I don't know if there's something I know about watching this Jacksonville offense. It's just like, yeah, this just screams two top 25 fantasy receivers, the top 12 top 12 tight end. I mean, yeah, that's what I did.
Chris Mortensen
You just do an impersonation of field a little bit with the way you threw your voice there. That was ghost.
Stefania Bell
That was pretty good.
Field Yates
Wash day, baby. All right, Mike, be a hater. It's okay.
Chris Mortensen
I love it. I love it.
Stefania Bell
I just love that it's the guys on the set who are talking about hair and the women are talking about the football.
Field Yates
I know why it's. You know what? You know why this is happening? Because Liz feels bad because she's been shaming me throughout the day. Let me take a little temperature of the room.
Chris Mortensen
Liz has been shaming you.
Field Yates
Listen, for those of us that you know.
Mike Clay
I know I heard something.
Field Yates
Some of us were working this morning and we had a job to do. We had a show to do. It aired at 10am Eastern time. And then what did I do after that? I got in the car with Mike Clay. We had a wonderful ride down here to New York City. It's a great town. Went to my favorite New York joints to borrow for some pizza. Once I got here, it was amazing. Right? Been a busy day.
Chris Mortensen
Never gets old.
Field Yates
We're on the show, like, I don't know. Right before, there was a meet and greet prior to this with some incredible guests. And Liz is like, are you wearing that shirt again? I was like, it's still Thursday. She was like, you wore that shirt on the show today. I was like, I'm aware there's not a laundry machine.
Liz Loza
Everybody else changed their clothes. Field even.
Field Yates
Am I some sort of moron? Not changing my shirt from.
Liz Loza
You're repeating outfits.
Stefania Bell
Okay.
Liz Loza
You're gonna ask.
Chris Mortensen
We got a thumbs down. We got a thumbs down in the front.
Stefania Bell
Down.
Chris Mortensen
I don't think you're a for not changing your shirt. Field. The fact that your pants don't even make it to your ankles is a different conversation. But I. I don't think it's the shirt.
Stefania Bell
Wow.
Field Yates
It's called fashion, bro.
Chris Mortensen
Let's keep this show moving then.
Field Yates
Wow.
Chris Mortensen
Let's do a little start. Bench cut. New York City City Edition.
Field Yates
Cut. Daniel up.
Chris Mortensen
All right. We're going to bring three New York football teams into this. We got the Giants, we got the jets, and we got the Buffalo Bills. Let me see. How many Giants fans do we have in the crowd tonight? All right, Good number. Good number. How many jets fans we got in the crowd tonight? Okay. Okay.
Liz Loza
You are a resilient bitch.
Chris Mortensen
And how many Bills fans do we have in the crowd?
Field Yates
All right.
Chris Mortensen
Considerably less. Okay. But there are a few of you we appreciate you for representing. I love it. All right, let's start at the quarterback spot. And I'm just going to throw this around to all of us. Anyone, feel free to jump in when you Want. We got three New York quarterbacks. We got Russell Wilson, Justin Field, and Josh Allen. Start, bench, cut.
Field Yates
It's a tough one when you think about the shot. Field, stop it.
Mike Clay
This one's a layup.
Field Yates
Does Andrew. Is Andrew Thomas healthy in this scenario or not? Okay, let's. Let's get this out of the way here. Josh, thank you. You're starting. Congratulations.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Field Yates
The summer of Josh Allen continues. Yes. We're talking fantasy, obviously, right? So we're.
Chris Mortensen
No, you got a bench. Justin Fields. Right.
Liz Loza
You gotta bench Justin Fields. And you're cutting Russell Wilson.
Field Yates
Cut Russ.
Mike Clay
Yeah, we're cut.
Chris Mortensen
Russell. Fantasy football, guys, right? Justin Fields. Wheels is what's going to propel him like those rushing quarterbacks. Yeah.
Mike Clay
One of the best rushing quarterbacks in football. No doubt. Justin Fields will be fantasy relevant as long as he's starting much like he was last year. He was what, QB8 on a points per game basis.
Liz Loza
QB. He was a top 10 QB producer in Chicago as a starter in 2022 and 2023. So you have to bench him in case. As insurance. And you're cutting Russ because.
Mike Clay
Well, we're not even.
Chris Mortensen
Sorry, guys.
Stefania Bell
I mean, sorry.
Chris Mortensen
This isn't anti Russ. This isn't because we don't like Russ.
Mike Clay
I'm not cutting Russ because I'm not drafting him. So I can't. You can't cut a guy.
Chris Mortensen
Okay. All right. So that's the quarterback spot. That one kind of makes sense. Let's look at the running backs. Liz, I'm going to start with you here.
Stefania Bell
Sure.
Chris Mortensen
We got Tyrone Tracy, we got Breeze hall, and we got James Cook.
Stefania Bell
This one's tough.
Chris Mortensen
Who are you going to start?
Liz Loza
Well, I do think, if we're being serious, just let me just say this. James Cook is a regression candidate this year. He's not scoring 18 touchdowns again in 2025. That said. Oh, I'm gonna get roasted. He is attached to the best offense, so I'm starting him.
Chris Mortensen
James Cook is a start read.
Liz Loza
Breece is a wonderful rusher who is also gonna be in a bit of a committee because Braylon Allen is part of the this equation now. And you also have Justin Fields vulturing TDs. So, Bree, I am going to bench Cam. Cam. Scaboo fans are not going to like this, but Tyrone Tracy is the Giants RB1. He is going to start the season. That being said, I'm cutting him.
Chris Mortensen
You have to. You have to.
Mike Clay
I would agree with that. And I. Tracy's one of my most drafted players this offseason, too. I Like him a lot.
Chris Mortensen
Really great ADP right now.
Mike Clay
Yeah, yeah, he's in a good spot. Even with Scatterbo healthy, I think he's going to be there 1A at the very minimum, and that's going to be enough to pay off where he's going to draft. So he's a. He's a good target.
Chris Mortensen
All right, Stefani, I'm going to start with you on this one then. We're talking wide receivers here. Listen, we got some premier wide receivers in New York. You got Malik Neighbors, you've got Garrett Wilson, and I guess Keon Coleman maybe is the number one in the Bills offense. Wow. Let's start with the cut. Which one are you going to cut?
Stefania Bell
No, I'm going to cut Keon.
Chris Mortensen
Keon Coleman gets cut, unfortunately.
Stefania Bell
I mean, I like him. He's entertaining is all. Get out.
Chris Mortensen
I mean, doesn't it feel like this is a year? Like if he took a year two step in this offense, like he's one of the guys that I would look at as a sleeper right now in fantasy drafts.
Field Yates
One ball to go around, though, up in Buffalo with a lot of pass catches.
Stefania Bell
Yep.
Chris Mortensen
All right, who you start with? Malik and Garrett.
Stefania Bell
Not personal. And I. I'm starting Malik Neighbors.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah, that's the right call. That's the right call.
Stefania Bell
Listen, because I like to go with a player with a lot of upside, you know, listen, I love Garrett Wilson as a talent. I saw Malik Neighbors make plays and make be the entire offense for the New York Giants. Didn't matter what the quarterback situation was and that he already proved that he's quarterback proof. Is that what we call it?
Chris Mortensen
Quarterback agnostic.
Stefania Bell
Quarterback agnostic. There we go. And so that gives me the confidence. And then you couple that with the talent and the incredible perimeter threat that is Malik Neighbors. I feel like for my fantasy purposes. Yeah, fantasy purposes. I'm going to start Malik Neighbors, but I want Garrett Wilson right there on the bench.
Chris Mortensen
Yes, I'm with you. I could throw the ball to Malik neighbors 15 times and he'd still be a top 10 fantasy wide receiver.
Mike Clay
Well, yeah, I mean, you basically were. You basically were throwing to him last year. That was like the level quarterback play they had.
Stefania Bell
Didn't you throw a ball to Russell?
Chris Mortensen
Russell Wilson threw me a touchdown.
Field Yates
Not a big deal.
Chris Mortensen
We don't brag about it. I'm hearing him four yards in a touchdown.
Field Yates
I think about this segment, by the way. Like, start, bench, cut. You know, it's the best part about being a fantasy football analyst is like, you're Describing a player, you're like, Tyrone who? You cut Tyrone Tracy. And you're like, you know, think about Tyrone Tracy. Is this the most well mannered young man? He donated his entire paycheck to goodwill last season. He's an incredible son, father and husband. He helped my kid out when he needed something. He rescued a puppy from the beach recently. Oh, I'm cutting him. And that's the only part that people hear right? So there's really no good way to do it. Sometimes you just gotta be ruthless. That's how champions come about in fantasy.
Chris Mortensen
This is great field because I'm going to give you the best position then because this is the one where I think you finally have to make some decisions. And that's the tight end spot. We picked you for the tight end because you we're just going to let.
Field Yates
That Mark Bavaro, Kyle Brady and who's my favorite Bills tight end of all time?
Chris Mortensen
That's a great.
Field Yates
Who would be the best Bills tight end of all time? Am I forgetting somebody obvious?
Chris Mortensen
Stop. Dawson Knox is not the greatest Bills tight end of all time.
Liz Loza
Scott Chandler.
Chris Mortensen
Someone had a few too many drinks so far field.
Liz Loza
Scott Chandler.
Field Yates
Scott Love Scott Chandler. You know who was not a great fantasy tight end, but a beloved and my Bills fan right here. Lee Smith. Everybody loves Lee Smith.
Mike Clay
Up in Bill's mafia good blocker.
Chris Mortensen
We got. We got three tight ends to be able to give out here. We got Dalton Kincade, start cut. Mason Taylor cut bench. And Cole Fotheringham. Yeah, that's not true. It's Theo Johnson.
Mike Clay
Wait, hold on. Are we allowed to cut all three?
Chris Mortensen
Stop. I Clay mean my Clay.
Mike Clay
You did it again. I mean does anyone. Come on, you're. You're not starting any of these guys.
Chris Mortensen
It's a weak position feel. Jates, what are you doing here?
Field Yates
Yeah, really weak position. I am starting Dalton Kincaid. I'm going to bench Mason Taylor, who I thought was a the excellent prospect coming out of the draft this past year from lsu. The passing off, it's going to be very suspect for the Jets. And then Theo Johnson. That one's a close call. Like Theo showed some promise. Very athletic tight end.
Mike Clay
This is our din.
Field Yates
Great, great man. Like donated this whole paycheck. But I'm cutting you. I'm thinking about. I just cracked the other armrest, by the way. I'm thinking about just getting ahead of this the rest of the of the show.
Chris Mortensen
Just go there it is like it feel.
Field Yates
I heard there's a strict you break it, you pay for it. Policy here at the Grandmaster. You break it, you buy it.
Liz Loza
No one else has broken their chair. Just me.
Mike Clay
No.
Chris Mortensen
After you guys got all rowdy in your chairs, I've been trying to have.
Stefania Bell
An opportunity to flip his hair when he got back in the hair flop.
Chris Mortensen
Oh, wait, you broke it.
Field Yates
Stefan did it. Yeah, but Stefan is jacked, so it's.
Liz Loza
Possible cracked like it's wild.
Chris Mortensen
All right, that's our start. Bench cut, New York edition. Let's do another quick segment here. I want to build our perfect.
Mike Clay
I can't break my chair. Like I'm not strong enough.
Chris Mortensen
You are strong enough.
Mike Clay
I feel left out now. I can't do it.
Chris Mortensen
Draft day's coming up for everybody. Hopefully you're not doing the only drafts you should be doing now. Very likely are best ball drafts. You shouldn't really be doing your season long drafts if you can help it. Maybe if you got Dynasty. I understand you got to start early or do some slow drafts.
Liz Loza
You should be mock drafting.
Chris Mortensen
You should be doing a bunch of mock drafts. Jumping Liz.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Field Yates
Good job.
Mike Clay
Support the brand.
Stefania Bell
Good time.
Chris Mortensen
I want to be able to ask you guys here on stage, stage. And then I do want to hear from you guys. I want to hear you shout out. After we talk about it here with the group, where do you think is your favorite spot to pick in fantasy drafts? Do you have one?
Field Yates
Yes.
Stefania Bell
Yes.
Chris Mortensen
All right, then let's just go around and when we'll just say it and we'll, we'll talk about it.
Field Yates
Right in the middle. I like to be right in the middle of the order. I just, I don't like waiting. I'm impatient. Right in the middle.
Stefania Bell
I, I the exact opposite. I hate being in the middle. I want to be at the turn. And I don't mind whether I'm at the beginning or I'm at 10 or 12, but I want to be at the turn.
Chris Mortensen
Okay. I want to be at either 2 and 3 or at 8 and 9 in a 10 team league.
Liz Loza
I would like to be at the 9th spot so I can grab Ashton Genty and then Nico Collins and have a shot at Jalen Hurts in the.
Mike Clay
Third O. I like being at the beginning.
Stefania Bell
You won't get Ashton Genti in my league at nine.
Chris Mortensen
Wow.
Stefania Bell
I think I have, though.
Field Yates
Break it up. Keep a little distance. Give us some covered protocols between you two right now, huh?
Chris Mortensen
I just broke my chair. Mike, I'm ready.
Field Yates
Sorry. You're the last one.
Mike Clay
You broke your microphone.
Chris Mortensen
I did. Well, I did break the microphone. So I just want to say this. And I'm curious what you guys think. One of the reasons why I like Drafting at the 2, 3, or 8, 9 spot is because half the picks.
Mike Clay
That's so Understand.
Chris Mortensen
But let me just hear me out.
Field Yates
Like, 2, 3, and 4 are fine.
Chris Mortensen
I don't care which one it is. That's why 10 are good. Good, too, because I love being able to get to the turn. But then I feel like I get to try to read the managers around me, and it's like, you know what? They need a tight end, and that guy also needs a tight end. So if I need one, I gotta take it here. But they don't need. And I feel like I get to read the board better from that spot. When I'm at the turn, I'm not like, reading any of the other things.
Stefania Bell
Airing the board.
Chris Mortensen
I don't need to declare the board. I like when the board falls to me or I dictate you. Okay. And I'm not gonna argue with that. I'm gonna let that one go. What about you guys? Just shout out. Do you have a spot that you like to be Three.
Liz Loza
Lots of threes.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah, we got a lot of threes. We got a lot of turns.
Stefania Bell
An eight.
Liz Loza
An eight over here. I like that.
Mike Clay
I feel like three.
Chris Mortensen
Okay. I hear a guy yelling 15. He likes being 15th.
Stefania Bell
15Th.
Mike Clay
Okay. You know what? There's a lot of threes I saw, which is interesting, because I feel like.
Stefania Bell
That'S a tough fives.
Mike Clay
Right? Three feels like a tough spot, too, usually. And then that gets interesting because you're like, Barkley? Is it Jefferson? Is it Gibbs? Like, that's where you got to make some decisions.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah, I like that spot. All right. All right. That's not too bad. How about. And I'll start on this side. Do you guys have, like, a favorite draft strategy that you like to employ? Zero. RB hero, rb. Waiting on quarterback.
Mike Clay
Well, yeah, we talked about this on. On Tuesday when we went through the playbook. And. And my kind of strategy unique to this season is. And again, I think a lot of people don't want to do this. So it's kind of an area where maybe you can get an edge or be different than other people this year, which is to try to get a top tight end and a top quarterback this season. Get one of the big four quarterbacks. There's running quarterbacks. I want one of them. I feel like you get a sizable edge over everyone else at that position, and he can do that in, like, the third round sometimes. Jalen hurts early fourth Round. And then I also want one of the elite tight ends because what do we sit. We. What do we do every year? Every. Everybody does good depth. Hey, tight end depth. This is the year everybody's good. There's good 10, 12 starters. This is the year the depth is finally here. And every year those guys let us down and we got to stop doing it. So Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, George KD. I want one of them as well. Oh, this is a year I will do it.
Chris Mortensen
I got a trigger warning on whoever's yelling Kyle Pitts out there. I don't need that. We don't need it.
Stefania Bell
Stop, Stop.
Chris Mortensen
Don't need it. Although he's running with the wide receivers in practice, I'm told he always does that. This is.
Mike Clay
This is a year when no one drafts somebody else's problem.
Field Yates
Right?
Mike Clay
Yeah.
Chris Mortensen
If he wanted to, he would show us first.
Mike Clay
Now, Kyle. Then we'll.
Chris Mortensen
Then we'll move on.
Mike Clay
Maybe field.
Chris Mortensen
Do you have a favorite draft day location? Like, is there a place that you like to draft from?
Field Yates
Well, my favorite strategy is several beers before the draft. Usually just for the. You guys. You guys are picking up what I'm putting down. No, I like to be out with. With the gang. I like to. Wherever I like to do it in person.
Chris Mortensen
Doing a live draft.
Field Yates
Doing it live. Actually, you know, my really favorite location is the venue room at the Baja Mars down in the Bahamas on Saturday afternoon. You can be there with any number of friends you want to bring or by yourself if you would just want to come and hang out.
Mike Clay
Feel the eights. Company man selling tickets.
Stefania Bell
I know.
Chris Mortensen
Love it, love it, love to see.
Stefania Bell
The thing about draft proud of you at Bahamar is you can have the pregame beverages and be in your favorite location.
Field Yates
Yeah. Again, they have a great hospital as well, so I can assure you on that. No, seriously, I just think the in person experience, like, even if you're all. Even if you're all on the tablet or your phone or computer, like, it's just way different. Like, the camaraderie is so much better.
Stefania Bell
The trash talking is so much better in person. Like, I just, you know, I know you can do it in the chat.
Chris Mortensen
But that doesn't land.
Stefania Bell
I also like the intimidation, the reading, the room, the. Oh, come on. Like, it's real. That happens when you're together.
Field Yates
I also play in a league back home near where all of us live. There's 11 other guys. They're my only 11 friends that I actually have, but I've convinced them all to play and we always go to the same spot, the same restaurant.
Chris Mortensen
He wasn't including us. We counted as his friends.
Stefania Bell
I know.
Field Yates
I'm like, you guys like me. I thought you guys just tolerate me. Anyways, we always look like the biggest bunch of dorks when we go to the same restaurant. But it's like, what are these losers on their computers, like, pounding spreadsheets doing? We're like, hey, we're. We've been just following Mike Clay's lead. Excel is, like, a good way of life, Right.
Mike Clay
That's how you do.
Field Yates
Whenever I have, like, I can. The most obscure thing in life can come up, and I'll ask Mike about it because he's got a lot of knowledge that is, like, way more practical than useful.
Chris Mortensen
True.
Mike Clay
I have been teaching you Excel the last couple years. That's very good story behind the scenes.
Field Yates
Very good at it.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah.
Field Yates
If you, like, want to know where a person went to college, I'm okay at that. Otherwise, ask Mike week.
Chris Mortensen
All right.
Mike Clay
You got the colleges down here.
Chris Mortensen
I got one more here, and that's a leak punishment. Liz Loza.
Field Yates
Oh, you gotta go.
Chris Mortensen
Do you have a favorite league punishment? I do. If you don't.
Liz Loza
I. I do think it's nice to rescue kittens. I think that that's sweet. Not so much of a punishment.
Mike Clay
What?
Chris Mortensen
Wait, okay, so you're saying the league punishment is you adopt kittens?
Liz Loza
A kitten. Like, you have to go to the shelter and adopt a kitten as your punishment?
Chris Mortensen
I mean, I'm a dog person. That's really awesome.
Mike Clay
That could be a reward, though.
Chris Mortensen
That's a big investment for someone. What if you can't. Let's just say for some reason, you can't adopt.
Liz Loza
Make me look like a monster now.
Chris Mortensen
Yeah.
Mike Clay
Yeah. Peter's going to show up here, eat.
Liz Loza
A bunch of carbs.
Chris Mortensen
Like, we had that. I talked to a league earlier downstairs that someone just did that leak punishment at. At a waffle spot. That's right.
Field Yates
I. It was a. It's a diner here. Not far, far away. Yeah, I heard it was good vibes in that diner.
Chris Mortensen
My favorite league punishment. Can I tell you, and then I'll let you go field y. I think my favorite leak punishment. I had to do it. But, like, I. I'm big on being able to get a tattoo. League punishment, guys. So, like, making somebody go out and get some ink, like, I think that's where it's at. I'd love to see Mike Clay get field jates tattooed right on his butt. I like, that would be a sick league. Punishment.
Mike Clay
No one wants that.
Field Yates
We've got Mike naked by the end of the show, taking off his shirt for physical therapy.
Stefania Bell
It's everyone now.
Chris Mortensen
Everybody, everyone bought Mike.
Mike Clay
But I can't. I'm not strong enough.
Field Yates
This is actually a good one that I like this punishment in a league that I do because I think it's very repeatable. So 12 people. Person who finishes dead last has to start in a specific location of where most of this group calls home. And it's about an 8 1/2 mile jog to a bar that the rest of us are at. That person takes off, they're wearing an apple airtag to make sure there's no like Uber driver, some biker, you name it, wearing an 8.
Chris Mortensen
Not so they don't get kidnapped or anything like that. It's so that you make sure they're not cheating.
Field Yates
I'm concerned about the important stuff, making sure they're not cheating. And the rest of us are at the bar and we drink as much as we. As we can or like until that person shows up and they pay the tap.
Liz Loza
That is a good one.
Mike Clay
That is a really good one. I think mine for this year is what. What we should do is regardless of where he finishes and our league field has to drink a bunch of hot sauce. Like a J Punishment.
Field Yates
Yes.
Chris Mortensen
Another hot sauce challenge.
Liz Loza
I want in on that hot sauce challenge this year.
Field Yates
Liz, you can take my place.
Liz Loza
I want to.
Field Yates
You guys familiar with Amodium or Pepto Bismol? Cuz if you cut me open on like whatever that day was, August 12th last year, I would have just bled Pepto Bismol and Amodia.
Mike Clay
I wish people could have lived that whole pod. That whole day was amazing.
Chris Mortensen
We should have had it behind the camera.
Mike Clay
Yes, it was. You were giving me how on that pod the entire time that I wasn't going to be able to. To hold, you know, to hang with you guys. And I was fine. And Field two hours later is like, I'm still on the toilet. I mean, he didn't even leave campus. He was still there.
Stefania Bell
I was family show.
Chris Mortensen
It was a tough day though. I just do. I do want to say I felt a little bit of sympathy for Field because it was a. It was tough if you've never done that hot sauce. But hey, you know what's not tough? Being able to be here with you beautiful people.
