Daniel Dopp
What's good, friends? Welcome into Fantasy Focus Football presented by Wingstop alongside Stefania Bell and Phil Gates. My name is Daniel Dopp. Here to recap everything what that was the Monday night football week 13 game. Week 13 officially in the books. We will dive into that in a little bit. We're going to talk about some waiver wire conversations, a little bit of injury stuff, get to a few things later on in the show, but first and foremost, how you guys doing today after that Monday Night Football game?
Phil Gates
Doing great. Maybe not as good as the Patriots, but doing really well. We are on to week, to quote the long time and to me, the greatest coach in Patriots history, NFL history from my word, Bill Belichick. We are on to week 14. Love that.
Daniel Dopp
Unless your name. I just want to say this really quickly. I need to give a quick shout out. The three of us are in a dynasty league, including a bunch of other ESPN and non ESPN people. And our friend not cool Keith. That's right, played with against one of our former ESPN ers in that league. We have Matthew Barry, Ed Eck, DJ Gallo, who's over at Omaha, Damian Dabrowski who we talk about, and our friend Jeremy Lundblad. Jeremy had a hundred percent chance to win because he had Drake May last night. Jeremy lost by point one Fantasy points because of two Drake May kneel downs at the very end of the game.
Stefania Bell
Oh, the worst.
Daniel Dopp
The one that you see where you're like, wow, that is a, that is a loss I will never forget. He's a huge Patriots fan too. So Drake May definitely made it worse. Yeah.
Stefania Bell
Yes.
Phil Gates
Yeah. Jeremy or Drake May has can basically do no wrong right now. I believe he's now the favorite over the various books, including DraftKings to be the NFL MVP this year. That does tend to switch week by week, but he's had a remarkable season no matter how you cut it.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah.
Phil Gates
He needs to learn from Aaron Rodgers. One thing though, Rodgers has mastered at the end of the game when he's in victory formation, when he takes a knee, he receives the ball and basically kneels back underneath the center. He will not lose a yard. So Drake May, I'm sure we'll learn that at some point here, but it's a Patriots all things coming up their way right now. We'll talk about that game in a moment. But it's a special week here at espn.
Daniel Dopp
It very, very much it is V Week here at espn, which is something that we are always into here on Fantasy Focus. Today specifically is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving. And it's also the start of ESPN's V Week, where we continue Jim Vivano's fight against cancer. You can make a difference today by supporting cancer research, which is needed now more than ever.
Phil Gates
And Daniel, why do it today? Because the V Foundation principal and the Principal foundation are launching a $1 million match challenge to inspire greater giving in the fight against cancer.
Stefania Bell
That's right. Every donation made during V Week will be matched dollar for dollar up to $1 million, doubling the impact of your donation and making victory over cancer closer than ever.
Daniel Dopp
So if you're able to donate now, head on over to v.org to donate. 100% of your donation goes to cancer research that is v.org to donate and join the fight against cancer. This is obviously something that is very important to all of us. We've all had somebody in some way that has been impacted by cancer in our lives. So finding a way to be able to contribute and help, be able to hopefully just bring cancer to an end is a thing that we're all I know on board with.
Phil Gates
And this message certainly underscored this. But it's important to remind people it's not how much, it's just, you know, the act of giving that can go a long way. So I understand that everybody has different means in which they're able to contribute to a cause that might be important to them. Maybe the V Foundation is important to you out there. It doesn't need to be some gigantic donation. Every little bit counts.
Stefania Bell
But now more than ever, these private donations really matter. And I love the fact that every dollar goes to fund the research 100%. And that is why Field, to your point, every single dollar matters. And as we mentioned, we've all known no or will know someone who has been impacted by cancer. And this is one of the best things we do, one of the best things we do, if not the best thing, for sure.
Phil Gates
And the Jimmy V. Speech, I mean, if you don't listen to that once a year, I think you should at least consider it going forward. It's inspiring. It's certainly tear jerking. I've got my.
Daniel Dopp
That's right. Yeah, you do.
Phil Gates
Don't ever give up shirt from homage today. So shout out to them for these great shirts they have put together. And that also, by the way, benefits the V Foundation. So love that speech. It always gives me chills. College basketball season. I know it's football season, but college basketball season.
Stefania Bell
College basketball.
Phil Gates
If you want to pull some inspiration, we're going into week 14. It's the final week of the regular season. And Jimmy V, of course the head coach of North Carolina State during what is regarded still to this day as the most improbable national champion in the history of the NCAA tournament, the eighth seeded North Carolina State Wolf Pack defeating a great, and I mean great Houston team. So there's an opportunity. If you're sitting there and you're just going to sneak into your playoffs, who knows, you could be the final seed in or one of the final seeds in. And just like Jimmy V and his North Carolina State did back in a team did back in 83, you could make a run to the championship.
Daniel Dopp
Love that. Love that also fields your brain is just unmatched. I just want to say that your, your memory is fantastic. I do. Of course I've seen the shot. I don't remember the shot. I wasn't.
Phil Gates
The three point line wasn't installed yet, but there was a shot from what would have been a three that came up short but basically like an alley oop, an unintentional alley oops that helped catalyze that amazing, amazing championship.
Daniel Dopp
Well, I am going to and I, I don't want to pivot from this. However, go to v.org donate I want to throw a quick alley oop to our buddy Eric Moody who is in our YouTube chat today. Follow him on social media. Rick N. Moody and head into our chat. We want your week 14 questions. We want your playoff questions. Obviously with week 13 now in the books, we're going to talk about Monday Night Football here in just a minute. But we want to know some questions you guys have moving forward either for the final end of the regular season or what you need to figure out for your playoffs. Some things that you need to do with your squad. So please send us some questions and ask Eric Moody in there as well.
Stefania Bell
Because right now we are asking those same questions of ourselves.
Daniel Dopp
It's true.
Stefania Bell
Me, we all are on the bubble somewhere. So these decisions become more important than ever. This is your season right now.
Phil Gates
The way I still want. This is actually what I want and I think this is for someday this week. So I apologize for being heavy handed here. Oh, wow.
Daniel Dopp
What's up?
Stefania Bell
Just, you know.
Daniel Dopp
Oh, my shirt that go for what? It's just a shirt of the Traylon Brooks shirt that says, I can find you 20 catches better than this.
Phil Gates
I probably could feel Yates.
Daniel Dopp
Probably.
Stefania Bell
Wow.
Phil Gates
Wow. Do you just have like an on demand shirt maker?
Stefania Bell
Yeah. Look at what that is outstanding. I just want to take a moment for this shirt. That is fantastic.
Daniel Dopp
Thank you very much.
Phil Gates
I actually have a black T shirt and Daniel is a big advocate of wearing a T shirt with some sort of overshirt. Yeah, I wear some overshirt oftentimes button down, but sometimes buttoned up, as was the case today with the big reveal.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah. We legitimately have a shirt maker at home that we like do. And by we, I very much mean my wife. Very. Yes. Very, very good at crafty things. My wife Rosie is so good at stuff like that. I was like, this is so much fun. Field really didn't like that catch. Let's have some fun with it.
Phil Gates
I thought it was solid. I just thought the hyperbole got out of control yesterday.
Daniel Dopp
I understand you could probably find like 20 better catches than that as I think about it.
Phil Gates
I mean, obviously the OBJ catch, definitely better than it. I still think the Justin Jefferson catch better than that. We can.
Stefania Bell
You'll now get a name.
Daniel Dopp
All 20 catches.
Phil Gates
I'm going to go through the annals of great catches over the years. Yeah. Anyways, it was a cool catch, I'll give you that. It's a great T shirt.
Daniel Dopp
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Stefania Bell
I completely disarmed him. I'm sorry, but that was fantastic.
Daniel Dopp
Thank you.
Phil Gates
The only thought I wanted to finish, which is important for the next couple of days, is you asked for questions. I want people to submit as many questions and hopefully we can curate these. Use the hashtag fantasy. Focus on Twitter if you still use that ridiculous app. But it is a very useful place for us to gather questions.
Daniel Dopp
Yes.
Phil Gates
Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson questions. Hey, I am debating between this player and that player. And spare me, like, the Lamar Jackson versus, like, Dylan Gabriel questions. Right. Like, I want a thoughtful one when you're trying to decide, like Lamar Jackson versus another solid quarterback, Will Jackson, Joe Burrow.
Stefania Bell
Think about it.
Phil Gates
Yeah, I think that one's Joe Burrow just based off what we saw last week. But we can talk through those asking for over the next couple of days here.
Daniel Dopp
Anyways, let's dive in.
Phil Gates
Last night. Yes.
Daniel Dopp
Little bit of Monday Night Football. We saw the Patriots absolutely crush it. Drake May. Drake May is good at the football, guys. Like, there is no ifs, ands or buts about it. There's a couple of things that we were looking at coming into this game. The two things were, and I'm going to start on the New York Giants side of the football. What does Jackson Dart look like? How much does he run? He got freaking lit up on the sideline. Yeah.
Phil Gates
Let's talk about this for a second.
Daniel Dopp
Holy smokes.
Phil Gates
Yeah. So Jackson Dart breaks the pocket under pressure and runs up the right sideline and gets hammered. It was a great. By the way, it's a 10 yard run.
Daniel Dopp
Yep.
Phil Gates
A completely legal hit.
Stefania Bell
Yes.
Phil Gates
There's nothing wrong with that. It's textbook. It's inbounds. And yet, Stefania, it gets to the heart of what needs to change for Jackson Dart.
Stefania Bell
I like if it could be dangerous, I could go on a rant right now.
Daniel Dopp
Let's do it.
Phil Gates
This microphone is.
Daniel Dopp
We haven't had a good Stefano rant in a minute.
Stefania Bell
Jackson Dart, I know you're watching. You need to do better for your team and for you and for everyone who is watching the game of football. Because, yes, football has tried to make the game safer, but it is on you to also participate in that. And I'm disappointed. Jackson Dart, because you did make it sound like you were going to make an effort to change because you understood your value to your team. Let's be clear. Not because anyone thinks that you might be soft if you don't run the same way or that you're not as intense of a football player if you don't get every single yard, but because you need to be there for your team. The Giants have made a choice that you are their quarterback. You then need to be healthy, available for them. Something you were not after suffering a concussion. Now, concussions happen. You can't control all of them, but you can make smarter decisions. And it wasn't just that he didn't step out one yard earlier on what was like second and 13. I mean, so it could have been third in a couple. You could have tiptoed out of the sideline. You know, you saw somebody coming for you.
Daniel Dopp
Right.
Stefania Bell
You could have tiptoed out there. But it was after the game at the podium when you basically said, that's football. I'm not going to change the way I play. I play aggressive. That was the disappointing part to me because that tells me that you didn't take all that in. And no one's taking anything away from his game. By the way, we've watched quarterbacks learn how to slide. Do you remember who was it? Was it Andrew Luck that he. He Worked on slide. He got a sliding coach so that Drake May has clearly done so much better job of avoiding the big hits now. And look what he's doing. He's staying healthy for his. But I remember when Andrew Luck worked with a sliding coach because he wasn't a natural like Russell Wilson, played baseball and can slide beautifully. But he did it because he knew he had to try and protect himself better. He was learning how to take steps out one or two steps earlier. You're not going to stop all injuries. I would never. You know, I get it as much as we don't like see injuries, they're part of football. But you can make better, smarter decisions. And to me that was. I was so bothered last night I was like throwing stuff at the television. Like, come on, you're young, you have a future here. The Giants have chosen you. So let's do our part and be there for our team.
Phil Gates
Yeah, that play was kind of the perfect encapsulation of sort of the heart of the issue. And remember a couple of Sundays ago, might have been three Sundays ago now. Apologies for not remembering specifically. Adam Schefter had a report Giants. I'm getting old. The Giants have been trying to basically encourage Jackson Dart to be smarter as a runner, right? Apparently the message wasn't taken on that specific play. Josh Allen, another example of a guy who's become a much smarter runner as he has gotten older. But here's what I will say about Jackson Dart and the fantasy value because obviously people are still wondering what does this mean for this player that for a while was like a top five quarterback and he was on an absolute heater. One thing was very clear last night. There are some things the Giants can do to protect Jackson Dart from himself. That is call zero designed quarterback runs. Last night, remember it was the kitchen sink offense with Brian Dabal and Jackson Dard as day ball. I think was trying to keep his job. Right. The more games you win, the likelier you are to keep your job. Last night with an interim head coach, Mike Kafka, not only did they not run the football very much or sorry at all with Jackson Dart by design, this was like let's just get out of this game healthy right? Offense like they're down 30 to 50, 15 in the fourth quarter with like maybe nine minutes to go, enough time that you could conceivably mount a comeback even though that felt improbable with how well the Patriots were playing. And there is hand in the football off first and second down hand the football off like and if I'm the Giants by the way now 2 and 11 going into their buy, you should be thinking about the bigger picture for our purposes in fantasy when he comes back from his buy in week 15. I have zero reason to believe that Jackson Dart is going to start running on designed runs in week 15. And beyond that he now goes from a guy that you don't think about it, you start him to a player that we have to have a conversation about. Because this passing offense is just simply not talented enough to have 300 plus passing yards in a given week and get just 20 rushing yards. Which I believe you know like that's like Drake May can do that. Right. Because he is now throwing. He has the most passing yards in the entire NFL. They have not had their buy yet of note but still he has been on fire this year has Drake May as a pastor that even with just okay running Drake can be a weekly top end scorer. A quarterback. I'm not sure that's available for Jackson Dart if they're going to play offense like they did last night.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, it doesn't, it doesn't feel like it. I actually was as a passer. I wish that he just tried to push the ball downfield a little bit more against this Patriots defense. I think it was tough. So he took what they gave him, didn't have a ton of incompletions and he was like 17 for 22. It was just for 130 yards.
Phil Gates
Yeah. 136 passing yards.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah.
Phil Gates
Like Jackson Dart.
Daniel Dopp
Yep, it was.
Phil Gates
But he, he rushing yards, he did.
Daniel Dopp
Play like okay to me. But if he' not utilizing his legs the way that we are trying to get him to not do for us. Like you just talked about Stefania, which I think everything you just said is as succinct and perfect. Like we all want the best for Jackson Dart long term. We want you to want it for yourself. So like you got to take advantage of that.
Stefania Bell
Also if you want to say I don't care for myself, it's for your team. Right. Because they're only. They. They only benefit if of from your presence if you are actually available to do so. And even you saw the scuffle that happened last night after the hit because they took a exception to the way he was hit even though on review it was clearly legal and before he stepped out of bounds. And that's the thing. Patrick Mahomes gets away with it because he's really nimble and he, he runs that sideline. He tiptoes it and then he Gets out just at the right time, takes the occasional hit. But you gotta, you gotta be really good at doing that or you are gonna take the hits and your team then gets involved in the scuffle to protect you when that all didn't need to happen. So I think just I like to see people learn from things and maybe take actions that would demonstrate that they have taken a lesson away from it.
Daniel Dopp
That's all I would like to. I got one last thing on the Giants. You guys have anything else before we move on the Giants Patriots? Okay. So I for the Giants, I just want to say that we do think about the people here on the show. Yesterday we had someone ask a question. I need seven points. Do I start Tyrone Tracy or Theo Johnson? We said Tyrone Tracy. The answer is neither one of them got to seven fantasy points.
Phil Gates
5.9 and Tracy got banned.
Stefania Bell
He was carted to the locker room. Hip injury. We'll learn more later.
Daniel Dopp
I just want you to know I was thinking about you. I wish I remember who the question came from but in a game in which they were down basically the entire game, you would have thought the game script would have just allowed somebody to be able to do something.
Phil Gates
He did have 10 carries prior to that plus a catch. So you know, maybe if he could have been getting there finishes the game, maybe he gets you to seven.
Daniel Dopp
But Singletary had a couple of catches like down the end and garbage time like if that was Tyrone Tracy long.
Phil Gates
Rushing touchdown as well last night did Singletary. So I think. Let's talk about the running rates. Close to the highest scoring running back against the patriots all season, 19.2. But on the Patriots side it is important to note that when they took the field in the opening drive of the game, Ramondra Stevenson was available and on the field for the offense. He played 58% of the snaps last night. Travion Henderson played 49% of the snaps. There were a handful of snaps where both of them were on the field by the end of the night last night. Henderson ends up outscoring Stevenson 11.6 to 11.0. But Ramon Dre did have a 35 yard catch. He had I believe close to, if not right over a hundred total yards. Henderson had, you know, definitely the more explosive runs as is often the case here with Trayvon Henderson. He has 11 carries for 67 yards. He adds three catches. Henderson nearly scored a touchdown. It was a pass out to the flat that if Drake may puts it on the button, it's probably a touchdown. That being said, the idea that this Patriots backfield was going to be like it was when we saw them last week. Appears to not be the case. It looks like this Patriots backfield is going to be about an even split with maybe a slight edge to Stevenson going forward.
Stefania Bell
It was really strange to me because of how it was divided though, because it was all Ramon Dre in the beginning of the game first, like, and that was where he really showed up. And then Travion Henderson got six of the final eight running back touches. But you already knew what the outcome of the game was. So I didn't know if that spoke to an element of that as well. Just was interesting to me, the utilization, because it wasn't like we're alternating drives, really. It was. There was a lot of reminder up front, a lot of Trayvon later, and you just. That makes you feel like you can't count on how that distribution is going.
Daniel Dopp
To look, especially because the Patriots are winning football games playing the way that they want to play. So why are they going to change stuff for us in fantasy?
Phil Gates
You know what I mean? I think the Patriots probably. I think that the value for these two guys, I still think. I think Henderson clearly has a higher ceiling still.
Daniel Dopp
Right.
Phil Gates
Because if One of these two is going to turn one rush or one reception into 50 yards and a touchdown, we still believe that's Trayvon. The floor is a tricky conversation. Trayvon's playing less, but he's probably a better bet to get three to four catches in a game than Ramondre is, even though Ramon Dre got three last night. I don't think this is quite a stay away backfield because they're so good on offense that they could score four or five offensive touchdowns in a game. But the Patriots are an offensive wagon right now, and they threw the ball to everybody.
Stefania Bell
Everybody. That's the other. That was the other thing before. Just one more thing on the backfield, which is Ramon Dre had that toe injury, right. So we didn't see him for a bit. Comes back. This was really only his second game back from that toe injury, so we expected him to do a little bit more. Just not really clear how the division goes. If you're the Patriots, you're sitting atop the division and you're looking at your season doesn't end when our fantasy season ends. You're hoping that your season ends in February if you're the Patriots. So that means to me that you want to keep your bags healthy and you're not going to overload one of them, especially one who's just come off injury. So I, I, I agree with you Field. I think it's going to be a split the rest of the way unless there is something that happens in the middle of a game to change.
Phil Gates
It might not feel good right now for those that have them in redraft leagues, but for our dynasty listeners or viewers, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were saying nice things about Travion Henderson and Joe relayed that they were Speaking to Josh McDaniels and I think the term they used was this is just the tip of the iceberg for what we can do with Trayvon. So perhaps a very bright future for Trayvon in years two and beyond and a pretty darn good present as well. This team is 11 and 2 in part because of his contributions. Daniel Dopp
Did you know that Kayshawn Booty has more receiving touchdowns than Jamar Chase this year?
Stefania Bell
Doesn't really surprise me, actually.
Phil Gates
Unless she was wide receiver. You?
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Phil Gates
Honestly, what a great story of improvement for fantasy purposes. Seriously not sure Any Patriot is a lineup lock amongst the wide receivers.
Daniel Dopp
Agreed.
Phil Gates
But an amazing story of improvement for K Shawn Booty who almost acted his way out of the NFL. Some off the field situations. He was a six round pick who thought he would go a lot higher in the draft, but he has come a long way in a short period of time.
Daniel Dopp
Also, that catch by Kyle Williams in the corner of the end zone over his shoulder looking. That was a.
Stefania Bell
Between the ball placement and the catch.
Daniel Dopp
That was an incredible throw by Drake.
Phil Gates
May is to. Yes.
Daniel Dopp
It's so good.
Stefania Bell
They. They have his like seven Patriots saw three to six targets. So over the last month. Let me just share with you Stefan Diggs. So last four games, Stefan Diggs 26 targets. Hunter Henry 26 targets. Matt Collins 25 targets and then Henderson and Stevenson 19 targets. That's perfect distribution.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Stefania Bell
Doesn't tell me who I want to play in fantasy.
Daniel Dopp
Not fantasy football. Nope. Like I said, the offense is moving the way they want to move the offense.
Phil Gates
Not only that, like this franchise legendarily had one of the greatest, if not the greatest runs in NFL history over a 20 year span where there were a lot of years where it was like everybody eats. Yeah, everybody. And we just win a lot of football games. So the Patriots appear to be back.
Daniel Dopp
All right, let's dive into really quickly. Are we all. Are you guys good with Monday Night Football recaps? All right, we're going to dive into our focus league recap as we have a couple of things to quickly share with you guys before we dive into some of the waiver wires. But week 13, it was a tough one. Field got beat by our producer Tyler Stefania. You lost.
Stefania Bell
My. My team checked out early. My team is the New York Giants. My team is. Who are they? The Tennessee Titans.
Daniel Dopp
Your focus league team. New Orleans Saints beat Joe Fort. Boss FF now team. That's the question.
Stefania Bell
You know what? I think anyone could beat Fort and boss FF now team.
Daniel Dopp
I lost to our producer David Presley this week. Trophy smack with a nail biter in first place but wins by two points. Jamar Magedon beat which is our producer. Tyler beat Miller Light Mike on that play.
Stefania Bell
No, no. He's kissed the baby.
Phil Gates
That's Jamarmageddon is Zach Armageddon hung 152. The high score of the week was Tyler against me. I still got a victory win.
Daniel Dopp
Victory points.
Stefania Bell
Victory points.
Phil Gates
Yep. So if you take a look at the standings, we have something very interesting brewing is five of the six playoff spots have now been secur trophy smack gets one. Zach the producer gets one. Dave the producer gets one. Eric Moody in the building, plus Tyler, the producer gets one as well. Four teams have been eliminated. Three teams are still in play to make the playoffs. Those three teams are Miller Light, Mike, me, and Debo. Samuel L. Jackson, which is Daniel. Here is how the final playoff spot will be determined. Mike and I play each other this weekend. If I both beat Mike and finish in the top six, okay. And Mike finishes in the bottom six of scoring, okay. I make the playoffs, okay. If Mike either beats me head to head or finishes in the top six and loses, he's in. You need to both win and a victory point, but you also need to outscore me by like 17.
Daniel Dopp
And then you and Mike need to split and go one and one, right? Or does Mike need to go one, two?
Phil Gates
Mike's 14 and 12. He needs to go 02.
Daniel Dopp
So you need to go 02, I.
Phil Gates
Need to go two and oh, you need to also go two and O, but need to outscore me by 78 points.
Daniel Dopp
Oh. So there's no way we both make it. I was hoping we could both do this.
Stefania Bell
No, no. One. One spot left. One spot left for the three of us. One of you make it. You know what? I. My takeaway from this is, is that everyone behind the glass better than everyone in the glass. Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
I don't appreciate that.
Phil Gates
What happens is we sit there during the show and give advice and discuss advice, and they're sitting there going, let me get that roster.
Daniel Dopp
Let me add up that for a second.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
Also, there's a reason why we have Eric Moody in the chat answering questions for you guys because he's so good at fantasy football. Quick look at our playoff bracket here, brought to you by Wingstop.
Stefania Bell
This is Trophy Smack.
Daniel Dopp
Trophy Smack. Zach, our producer, going to be able to get a bye week right now. As it stands as well, those buys.
Phil Gates
Are not locked in. There's a world a shot at a bye week. So those guys are all locked into top three seeds, meaning Trophy, Smack and Zach. But there is still a lot to play for here in this pivotal final. Week 14.
Daniel Dopp
Yep. So we have week 14, last week of the regular season. Our playoffs are weeks 15, 16 and 17, as they should be for all leagues. Please do don't play into week 18 if you can help it. We don't want you to do that. And that is going to now bring us into our time for playoffs. Stash presented by Wingstop Stefania. We're talking about a player to be able to stash heading into the playoffs. You can maybe utilize down the stretch. Give us a player for this week.
Stefania Bell
Yeah. If you want to be sneaky, go ahead and pick up Jaden Reed, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers.
Daniel Dopp
I heard about him in a minute.
Stefania Bell
You haven't. You know why? How many games did he play this season?
Phil Gates
Two. Two.
Stefania Bell
Well, one and a half. One and five snaps.
Daniel Dopp
Okay.
Stefania Bell
How's that? You guys were definitely there, but that's why you haven't heard from him. But he had a nice first outing. What happened was he broke his collarbone five snaps into that second week and so obviously had to go out for surgery. Also, you may recall during training camp, he had a Jones fracture in his foot. He was playing through that foot injury and there was some question about how well he could play. Looked really good in week one. He had decided not to have it operated on. Was going to go ahead and play through the season. The collarbone injury happened, so he got two for the price of one. Got his foot fixed and his collarbone. And now it says he feels great. He looks great. His practice window was opened 11 days ago.
Daniel Dopp
Okay.
Stefania Bell
And the question is, is he going to be here this week? Matt LaFleur said it's really going to come down to the end of the week so they can see how he looks by then. I think he. He'll still come in questionable against the Bears, but if it's not this week, it'll be next week. So he's somebody you might want to hang out to now. Matthew golden, who missed a couple of games because of the wrist injury, is expected to potentially be available at the end of this week. The packers do the same thing where you don't necessarily know who. Who it's going to be. But if you're looking for a potential explosive play guy, Jaden Reed could be it.
Daniel Dopp
Love that. Stefania. I want to ask you guys just about packers wide receivers in general. We've got a handful of them.
Phil Gates
I'm good. You're good.
Daniel Dopp
That's sort of, I think the question, like, with this, like, you've got a handful of guys here. Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs, Jaden Reed. It's Watson, rightavian Wicks. Watson is the guy right in this.
Stefania Bell
Momentavian Wicks teased you this week, but don't let that fool you.
Phil Gates
Watson was really good as well. He had 10 targets. He had the long touchdown. Like Watson has incredibly big, incredible big play upside. He seems to have the most rapport with Jordan Love, at least during this time in which Jaden Reed is not around. It's a good matchup. Against the Bears on Sunday. These guys play twice in the next three weeks, by the way. So if you like this matchup in week 14, you like it again in week 16. So if I had to choose one, it would be Christian Watson. But generally my rule of thumb is if I can, I don't want to have to choose between packers wide receivers.
Daniel Dopp
That makes a lot of sense. It makes a lot of sense. However, down the stretch we've seen Jaden Reed. I used him last year and the start of the season. He got in the end zone week one, scored over 13 fantasy points back.
Phil Gates
In week one of last year.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, in Brazil.
Stefania Bell
And it seems like every week a Packers pass catcher gets injured. It has put more on the wide receivers with the loss of Tucker Craft as well.
Daniel Dopp
I actually just can't believe their wide receiving core and the idea that they still spent a first round pick on Matthew Golden. And I hope that that turns into something because I feel bad that it's hasn't really come to fruition yet for packers fans.
Phil Gates

Daniel Dopp
The Week 14 waiver wire. The worst waiver wire of the season. One thing. There's only one thing to me when I was looking at this that truly matters in week 14 when it comes to bye weeks.
Phil Gates
There's only one. I'm guessing one of two things.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, one of it's there's two players. There's two players that matter.
Stefania Bell
Oh, off the. Who are on by this week.
Daniel Dopp
Yes.
Stefania Bell
Oh, Christian McCaffrey.
Daniel Dopp
That's what I meant. There are two people that like, we have to figure out how we replace.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
Shane McCaffrey and George Kittle. There are four teams on a buy but like those are the two guys.
Phil Gates
That were really Drake May.
Daniel Dopp
Oh, you're right. I forgot about the Patriots.
Phil Gates
You're right.
Daniel Dopp
No. Rico Dowdle does not get into that category for me. I feel differently about Rico Daddle than you.
Phil Gates
Close though, right?
Daniel Dopp
Like he's close. Yeah, he's been start. He's. If you didn't have any other better options. He's been starting. Okay.
Stefania Bell
Yeah. No Giants. No Giants.
Daniel Dopp
No Giants.
Stefania Bell
Oh, okay.
Daniel Dopp
Nope. No checking. So right now my priority pickup. Stefania, I'm gonna need your help with this one. First off, I want to say this. Kyle Menungai is rostered in 56% of leagues. If he is out there, that's close enough to the threshold. We try to stay under 50%. Go out and look to add him because he's been getting enough run in this Bears offense and they are making a push. I think he's someone that you should add at the running back spot. If you can't get him right now, the best option if you did not make future plans to be able to replace CMC this week, it seems like it's going to be bam night and we still have a lot of question marks there. We didn't have Amari Di Mercado last week. I'm curious what he's going to look like this week. We need a full week of practice. Stefania.
Stefania Bell
Yeah, I was just going to say he hasn't practiced at all. High ankle sprain, week 11, missed week 12 and 13. Doesn't sound like a ton of confidence that it'll be this week, but we shall see what he's able to do.
Daniel Dopp
And we've also got Trey Benson who also may be coming back that we're not sure.
Stefania Bell
Benson. So this was interesting, right, because he went from a limited practice in the midweek to not practicing the next two days. Jonathan Gannon had said all along this was going to be a day to day evaluation from him. So we haven't gotten a big hint that there was a setback. You just don't know. If they didn't love how he felt Thursday and they were like we're not going to have him practice Friday because we know we're not going to play him in this game. It's hard to know till we get into this week, but remember the these 21 day practice windows matter so it's gotta be pretty soon or else he's done for the year.
Phil Gates
Okay, three and nine Cardinals, so we'll see if that factors into the equation at all.
Stefania Bell
That's the hard have already announced that Jacoby Brissette is going to be quarterback and Kyler Murray's practice window not opening.
Daniel Dopp
Bam Knight rostered in 36 1/2% of leagues right now. The only caveat here is we don't totally know if one of those two running backs is going to come back and try to take some of that time. So while I'm saying Bam Knight is the guy that I would do, he's the guy if I didn't make a CMC plan, Bam Knight is the guy you can add off of waivers this week I think as the best option. I do not like the matchup because they are playing the Rams.
Phil Gates
Rams. You hate it.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, it's not great. He has three straight games of 13 or more fantasy points but at the best option right now. Like I said here in week 14 as far as the running back spot, if you need a deeper league guy.
Stefania Bell
Angry Rams.
Daniel Dopp
Yes, they will be very angry coming off of that Panthers game.
Stefania Bell
I do not want to lose a divisional matchup.
Daniel Dopp
Speaking of on the other side of that, my deeper league AD Blake Corum is just another one of these insurance league running backs and we saw Kyron Williams get banged up. He actually found the end zone while Kyron Williams was off the field. If he was not there, obviously Blake Corum would be a potential RB2 for our squad. Anything to be nervous about or know about that Kyron Williams injury.
Stefania Bell
Sean McVeigh said that he felt pretty good actually coming out of the game. So it sounds like Kyron Williams is going to play, but again, it's one of those things. They have been utilizing Blake Corum a little bit more in the last couple of weeks and if there's any hesitation I think they will rotate him in another team who is expecting to play beyond your fantasy season. So I do think they want to make sure they Preserve their running back health.
Phil Gates
Sean also noted yesterday that Devonte Adams had a slightly tight hamstring on Sunday. But I think he's used the words high probability to describe the likelihood of both Devonta and Kyron playing on Saturday.
Stefania Bell
Now, you protect a hamstring, you rest, don't practice. If you're Devontae Adams, you just keep lining up right at the 510 yard line and you get a touchdown or two and you never have to stretch. That's exactly how you do it.
Daniel Dopp
I can imagine Adams getting into practice and be like, why 40 yard wind sprints. Give me five yard wind sprints.
Stefania Bell
How did he get a hamstring injury?
Phil Gates
I know he hasn't been running.
Stefania Bell
Stafford's putting the ball exactly where he needs it. He doesn't have to jump up in the air. Slightly tight, probably from running to celebrate after.
Daniel Dopp
You know, that's probably what it is. Yeah. Love Blake Corum though, in case you needed somebody as far as an insurance back. If you had to pick an insurance back right now between Blake Corum and Tyler, I think they're the two best options on the waiver right now. Which one would you rather have on the end of your roster going into the playoffs?
Phil Gates
I'd rather have Blake Corp. I think he's a slightly more talented player and he's a better offense.
Stefania Bell
Better offense, yeah.
Daniel Dopp
I agree with that. So those are the guys I would look at as far as the running back position at wide receiver. Jaden Higgins continues to do a couple of things within this offense. Still continuing to grow. Eleven and a half fantasy points in three of his last four games. He's the clear wide receiver too in this offense.
Phil Gates
Not major upside, but a solid flex option.
Daniel Dopp
Correct. Solid flex option. If you need someone and this is one of the things that we look at every year we talk about rookies in the tail end of their final or their first season being able to help grow a little bit. We saw Jaden Reed do that his final year of his rookie or the tail end of his rookie season. We saw Amon Ross St. Brown do that at the tail end of his rookie season. So we're kind of looking for some of those guys. Speaking of Amon Ross St. Brown, if you need a dart throw this week, there might not be a Khalif Raymond. We may not have Amon Ross St. Brown. There is no Sam Lapora.
Phil Gates
Is it time?
Daniel Dopp
It's time for Isaac to SLA my friends. I am pumped about this. Yeah. Amon Ross St. Brown I'm assuming is going to be questionable. We'll see. He has not officially been ruled out, but there are some questions as to whether or not he's going to play in this Thursday night game against the Cowboys. If he doesn't go. Like I said, no Sam laporta Khalif Raymond has been out dealing. He didn't practice on Monday with an ankle injury. Isaac Tesla might be the wide receiver two of an offense that's going to have to keep up with this Cowboys team because they have to win. They have no choices. So he is a touchdown machine. We haven't really seen a lot of production from him other than in the end zone the couple times that he's found it. But Tesla is a dart throw as a deeper league guy if you need it it and then I go ahead.
Stefania Bell
I was just going to say while we're here on the wide receivers, just a couple guys to keep an eye on for somebody you might need to replace. So Marvin Harrison Jr. Comes back after an appendectomy but ends up with a heel injury in that game. Was expected to go see the physician about that heel issue. So no lock for Marvin Harrison Jr. To be there this week. For those of us who have Michael Wilson, maybe that would.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, we'll find out.
Stefania Bell
And then Drake London, who's missed the past couple games with a PCL injury they are now calling day to day. Raheem Morris says he has a chance to play next Sunday versus The Seahawks. I'll still believe it when I see it. That's a tough injury to be back at three weeks, but keep that in mind. You may need to still be replacing him.
Daniel Dopp
I think we've tried to make Darnell Mooney a thing this year. Without Drake London, it's just not happening. I'm out. Maybe Kyle Pitts is the only other option I would consider as a pass catcher.
Phil Gates
I'm even a little nervous. Not about starting Drake London, but about the idea of Drake London being a top five receiver going forward. Cousins, I'm with you. Chris just looks.
Daniel Dopp
Yep. At the tight end spot you've got to potentially replace George Kittle. That's like one of the other big things. No CMC this week at the running back spot and Kittle at the tight end spot. If I had a preferred guy, it would be Dalton Schultz, rostered in 5111 half percent of leagues technically over the threshold. But 11 and 11 fantasy points in six of his last eight games, which is fantastic. I mean that's really good floor.
Stefania Bell
I brought him up yesterday.
Daniel Dopp
Tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this week as it always is going to be. They got a good defense, but I like him. If you need a streaming option, he's my preferred streamer. The other guy I would look at if you can't grab Dalton Schultz would be the other guy I think we talked about yesterday, I believe, which is Juwan Johnson rostered in 50% of leagues. 10 or more fantasy points in five of his last six games. So again, a really safe floor as the number two pass catcher. I know Devon Vale caught that really sick touchdown. I would still like to think over the last two games with Devon Vale. Yeah, I still think it's Chris Olave, then Juwan Johnson, then the rest of the pass catchers. It feels like in that offense. So nine targets in week 13, which was great to be able to see. So if you need a tight end, those are the two guys that I would target in order to be able to fill in for your George Kittle. And that is going to do it for our Week 14 waiver wire.
Phil Gates
Number one is laugh.
Stefania Bell
You should laugh every day.
Phil Gates
Number two is think you should spend some time in thought. And number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears. Could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that's a full day.
Daniel Dopp
That's a heck of a day. Great speech. I mean, go, go listen to the whole thing today.
Stefania Bell
Words to live by, right?
Daniel Dopp
It is so good. We decided to lean into that a little bit and have some fun with this and do a little bit of a fantasy spin on it. Fantasy storylines that made us laugh, that made us think and that made us cry. To be able to honor Jimmy V and the things that, that he has helped be able to build here at ESPN with the V Foundation. So let's dive into that in honor of Jimmy V. Today we're going to do stories that made us laugh, that made us think and that made us cry about fantasy football. It can be this week, it can be season long, it can be whatever you want. But I'm going to start, if you guys don't mind, go for it.
Stefania Bell
Yeah, absolutely.
Daniel Dopp
Fantasy storyline that made me laugh because it's just so fun. It's laugh in a fun way. For me it is Jacoby Brissette's unexpected dominance. Yeah, 18 and a half fantasy points in seven straight weeks. We had a lot of fun around Mike having the thing that he had the stat of. Like, did you know that Jacoby Brissette's the only top 12 quarterback over the last four weeks? Then it was five weeks, then it was six weeks, then it was seven weeks. So we had a lot of fun with that. Seven straight weeks. Jacoby Brissette, it's been unbelievable.
Stefania Bell
It's been a run, hasn't it?
Daniel Dopp
It really has. And that's even with Marvin Harrison Jr. Having some ups and downs in there and not being available for all the games. So I think that was one of the ones that not only was it fun from, like, a bit, because we got to make fun of Mike a little bit. Just in fantasy football, we kept going back to the. Well, guys, add Jacoby Brissette this week.
Phil Gates
By the way, like, you think about how bad Jacoby Brissette was last year, maybe it's because he replaced by Drake May. And Drake is just so good. Questionably awesome.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah.
Phil Gates
But The Cardinals are 3 and 9. The Patriots were 4 and 13 last year. It's not like he's playing on a remarkably different team. Like, they're definitely better than the Patriots were last year, but this Cardinals team is not exactly like a wagon themselves.
Daniel Dopp
They have. And you said this yesterday, and I think it is very. It is spot on. He's bortled his way to some fantasy relevance in the second halfs. But you know what? We love all. We love all time. Garbage time.
Phil Gates
That's how it's. How many. As far as fantasy points are concerned? Stefania, what's made you laugh this year?
Stefania Bell
So when you say laugh, like, in a fun way, like, not laugh at, laugh with. It's got to be Jameis Winston stepping in as quarterback once again for yet another team doing it for the New York Giants. And recall. I'm sorry, I was laughing. Gets your Detroit Lions 32.24 fantasy points.
Phil Gates
Tell me about it.
Stefania Bell
James Winston is the fantasy goodness that delivers. And he has a smile and he has laughs while he's doing it. And I just, I'm smiling as I think about it, because the energy, like, he's so committed. If you just the way he rallies his team. He gets the locker room fired up. He gets people fired up on the sideline. You want to watch the game because he makes it more fun. That's. That many has made me laugh in the last few weeks.
Daniel Dopp
How many backup quarterbacks have the judge when they get the call that Jamie. Because it's not like, oh, man, we got to go to this guy. It's like, no, you get Jamie, Jameson and James. Excuse me, I did it again. Jameson.
Phil Gates
I mean, no one's close to James, that's for sure. I'M trying to think who would be second.
Daniel Dopp
Who's like, who's the next one that has, like, some swagger when you come in.
Phil Gates
So, like, not for Joe Flacco would be up there. Probably not for, like, his football play, but, like, it's always fun. People love looking at Jimmy Garoppolo. There's like.
Daniel Dopp
That's true. You know, we'll be sort of feel.
Stefania Bell
Like, yeah, he kind of has that same, like, vibe, energy. Like, I'm just kind of going to bring it no matter what.
Phil Gates
Joe Milton has a chance to get into that category because he has an absolute rocket. That guy throws the ball a million miles an hour and can throw it 25 miles on one foot. He's ridiculous. I don't know if anybody else even comes close.
Stefania Bell
No, it really, it's. There's something about it.
Phil Gates
James is the best. The best.
Daniel Dopp
Even if your team is down, you're like, it's all right. We got Jameis. We know he's going to sling it. I don't have to worry about that.
Stefania Bell
You just don't know if you're getting a pick, if you're getting a touchdown. You know, it's been so fun to watch also.
Daniel Dopp
Or a receiving touchdown. He caught a touchdown pass in that Lions game. Like, he.
Stefania Bell
He did it all.
Daniel Dopp
He put his shoulder down to Derrick Barnes, a linebacker, and found the end zone.
Stefania Bell
Made football fun.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah.
Phil Gates
The fantasy storyline that has made me laugh is over the past seven weeks, and this coincides with Jacoby Brissette's tenure. Tenure. The comically ridiculous Trey McBride run that he.
Daniel Dopp
Oh, my gosh, yes.
Phil Gates
Listen to Trey McBride's last, last seven games. All right, eight catches, 72 yards and a touchdown. 10 catches, 74 yards and two touchdowns. Five catches, 55 yards and a touchdown. That was his bad week high for 55 and a touchdown. Catches, 127 yards and a touchdown. 10 catches, 115 yards and a touchdown. 9 catches, 79 yards, no touchdown there.
Stefania Bell
Wow.
Phil Gates
8 catches, 82 yards and a touchdown. No player has finished as a top two player at his position more often this year in a given week than Trey McBride. He's been a top two tight end six times. I was thinking about this, and I think it's a touch of a hot take, but not this crazy hot take. I think Trey McBride is probably on the periphery of the fantasy MVP conversation.
Stefania Bell
Oh, I don't think.
Daniel Dopp
I agree. You said it yesterday and I started thinking about it and I agree.
Phil Gates
Obviously, it's cmc. Inner circle is cmc. Jonathan Taylor jsn Probably not Puka.
Daniel Dopp
I don't think Puka is there anymore.
Phil Gates
A couple of not as dominant games.
Stefania Bell
I don't think it's a particularly hot.
Phil Gates
Braid's like brides on the podium maybe or at least in the top five.
Stefania Bell
Yeah. Because we talk about this all the time at the position.
Phil Gates
Biggest difference maker in all of.
Stefania Bell
Right. Remember when we talked. Remember when Travis Kelce once held that title where he was the biggest difference? It was a few seasons ago. He had that season where he was so far above everyone else at the tight end position. It was a gap of double digit points but like 20 or 30 points points. I feel like Trey McBride, now that he scores touchdowns this year has now.
Daniel Dopp
Has now become that Trey McBride is averaging 18.7 points per game. Brock Bowers 15.4. So a full three points less the number three tight end that's still playing. I'm taking out Tucker Kraft because he only played half the season. Yeah, number three tight end that's still playing is Travis Kelsey at 13.6. So from 13.6 for tight end three to 18.7 for Trey McBride, you're talking about over a five point difference.
Stefania Bell
And even the fantasy points per game is always a little misleading to me.
Daniel Dopp
Right.
Stefania Bell
Because Travis Kelsey's had some duds and Trey McBride has been consistent, consistent, consistent delivering for you. And to me that's the value because it's like any week I know, I know he's not losing my my week and chances are he's winning me my week.
Phil Gates
He's a great, great player. No two ways about it.
Daniel Dopp
So good. My I'm gonna, I'm gonna go into the next one. Then my fantasy storyline that made me think kind of, kind of dovetails with yours feel GH. Oh, who will tight end one Trey McBride be catching passes from in 2026 and is it going to make a difference? I say that because we thought it wouldn't matter after Brock Bauer's rookie season and then we got Geno'd this year and that hasn't been great. So it just makes me wonder because I love Trey McBride. I have him on a number of squads. I don't think Jacoby Brissette, I don't think any of us do is the future of this franchise. I'm assuming that maybe even if he does start next year because they bring in someone else, I can't imagine the situation. There's a lot to figure out the quarterback spot here. But it just makes me wonder what's it going to look like and are we going to feel differently because of a different quarterback under center for Trey McBride? We didn't for Brock Bowers this year and that has unfortunately hurt us a little bit.
Phil Gates
I don't think it's going to be Kyler Murray. That's not much of a reach.
Daniel Dopp
No.
Phil Gates
Jacoby Brissette's definitely a potential in the mix. He could be resigned in free agency, I don't know. But right now I'm not allowing the idea of quarterback change decreasing his value to enter my brain.
Daniel Dopp
Well, also I thought who was the quarterback of the Raiders last year? Aiden o' Connell was ain't o' Connell.
Stefania Bell
And he was hurt.
Daniel Dopp
And then we went to Geno Smith. So we were like, oh, we're even getting a bump at quarterback for Brock Bowers. And so it's like just anytime you have a quarterback change, it just makes me want. It's really tough to repeat at the top. Mike has told us that a number of times repeating but it just, it's a thing. I Wonder because Trey McBride has been so unbelievably good.
Stefania Bell
It's interesting to me that as we're talking about things that make us think that there's two of us having a. That there, there was a mention of the Raiders in there. So I'm going to move right on over to the Raiders and it's Ashton Genty. And what has happened this year really made me think about re emphasizing coming into next year, the context of player draft and where they land and what faces them. Because Ashton Genti coming out of college was a can't miss, right? I mean all the things he did in college, he could catch passes, you could run the ball, he can score both ways. He's going to be so versatile and useful. He enjoys the physical contact. He won't be afraid. Well, he landed at the Raiders and there were a lot of things that you could argue contributed to why he has underperformed expectations. Whether it's the play calling, whether it's the offensive line, whether it's the quarterback, whether it's Ashton Genti himself within that environment. But it reminds me, and we're going to trust Field a lot for this because of all his awesome draft coverage and he's watching all these college kids. But when you, you're. When you see them come out and they are touted as these outstanding can't miss NFL players, I still firmly believe, and we see it most dramatically the quarterback position but it really applies to any position. You can't fit square pegs in round holes. If they don't fit the system, if they're not in a good coaching environment, if they're not given the proper opportunity, that player is not going to be able to produce. Which means they're not going to produce for us. In fantasy.
Phil Gates
Yeah, it's a tough one here because I actually think Jason Genti's done about as well as you could do in this offense. He's still the 11th best running back. On a fantasy points per game basis, it's averaging nearly 15 fantasy points a game. It has not been what we hoped for. Remember one of the debates coming into the season was who should the fourth running back taken be? Christian McCaffrey or Ashton Genty? Pretty clear answer now 13 weeks into the season. But yeah, I think maybe the lesson learned for teams because we have a fantastic, and I mean fantastic running back prospect that will be in this next draft class. Jeremiah Love from Notre Dame who's been just amazing. Who I'm working on my first mock draft. I'm working on my top 25 rankings. He's one of the five or six best players in the class. And yet if you're a team in the top 10, is that the right business move to make? Grab a We've talked about this with Ashton Genty. You know, obviously Pete Carroll, I think you really wanted the player. I think that the Raiders understand now that no matter how special the player is, the system is going to have to be different and you have to of course have better offensive line play. Yeah.
Stefania Bell
And I think that's the thing is it wasn't so much a knock on Ashton Genty as it was the where we drafted him fantasy wise. And that's the make, make me think part is that for this redraft league, you know, if, if dynasty, sure of course you're holding onto him cause you expect him to continue to blossom. But would where would we if we were drafting now, where would he be drafted? I'm going to guess it's not at the tail end of the first round.
Daniel Dopp
What's tough is every running back outside like the top seven is just like they're all kind of the seven to 20. They're all kind of the same. It feels like I did ask Mike for what it's worth, he had a stat coming into the season. I believe it was the last 10 running back. Eight of the last of the last eight running backs that were drafted inside the top 10. All eight of them finished as like a top 10 fantasy running back. Yeah, just. It's something like that. It's I mean, I'm gonna.
Stefania Bell
But it's close.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
And he is right there. Like, even though it doesn't feel great with Ashton Genti, like you said, feel like he is still delivering. It's just that when we come in with these unrealistic high expectations for a kid that was so good in college, he's going to be the next whatever we build this thing up to make him be something that we haven't even seen yet. So I don't even think he's. He's necessarily played poorly. I think given what he's done with this offense, he's played about as good as he probably can.
Phil Gates
Here's a fantasy storyline that has made me think, and I believe now and going forward, I'm just not going to think about it because when I do think, it doesn't seem to work. And sorry to steal Daniel's jib here, but when do you play Jameson Williams? Like, every time I think I have it sized up, he goes for zero.
Stefania Bell
That's so good.
Phil Gates
And then when I fade him, I'm like, he had 26.5. He's on my bench.
Daniel Dopp
Why did that happen? Why would I do that?
Phil Gates
Why am I the biggest idiot in the entire universe? So JMO is an interesting one to say the least. This week we feel better. Not that we want this to be the case, but we do not expect Almond Ross St. Brown to play on Thursday night. So Jameson will be inside my top 15 for wide receivers. Agreed. That being said, for a player that is so dynamic when the football is thrown his way, he has had way too many duds for my liking.
Daniel Dopp
Is he. Is. Is the comp for jmo, like in a fun way? Is he like a slightly more efficient version of Gabe Davis? Like, does he have slightly more consistency than Gabe Davis? Are they not the same?
Phil Gates
Definitely not this version of Gabe Davis.
Daniel Dopp
Well, correct. I mean, like, I mean like, yeah, the good Gabe Davis that we talked about.
Phil Gates
Remember back to like the peak Mike William days.
Daniel Dopp
There we go. Mike Williams.
Phil Gates
Mike Williams who, you know, you could get 25 in a given week and maybe sometimes pretty awesome. Yes, yes. So I think that's more along the lines. But yeah, I.
Daniel Dopp
That's a good point.
Phil Gates
Thinking a lot about Jameson Williams. I'm not going to think for the. The rest of rest of the season.
Daniel Dopp
He will be very utilized this week. Fantasy storylines that made us cry. For me while I was watching that game last night, it came to me and it's the idea that Malik Neighbors missed out on basically all of The Jackson Dart fun that we got to have this year. I love Malik Neighbors. Like the dude is just so good at football. And for Giants fans, it's not just him. I mean, it's him and Cam Scatter Boo. And now obviously you got to worry about your rookie quarterback. It feels like you've got something here to be excited about as a Giants fan. And in fantasy football, if you drafted Malik Neighborhood, you were like, all right, in spite of the quarterback. I'm going to believe this. And now it kind of feels like we got a quarterback for the Giants. So I'm just bummed that we didn't get to see these two kids play together because it seems like the future could be really bright for the Giants if they build things the right way.
Phil Gates
That's the sell right now in New York is that we're 2 and 11. We have been absolutely wretched this season, but a year from now we're going to have an offense built around Jackson Dart Malik Neighbors, Cam Scatter Boo. Not a bad starting point and a.
Daniel Dopp
Pretty great defensive line. Assuming that everybody can show up to meeting sometime. Sorry field. Sorry field.
Phil Gates
Abdul Carter missing the first quarter last night for the Giants coach's decision according to Mike Kafka.
Daniel Dopp
That's not great.
Phil Gates
What made you cry this year?
Stefania Bell
Stefania Daniel actually gave a portion of it. But you guys, this is going to come as no surprise, but every major injury that wrecked a fantasy season and wrecked the season for the player is are the things that make me cry. So I just was listing them all. You already touched on the Giants with Malik Neighbors and Cam Scadbo season ending really difficult injuries. Chris Godwin was back and then out like just a a tough season when you're rooting so hard for a guy to come back. Mike Evans loses chance to break the the receiving record. Consecutive season receiving record when he fractures his collarbone. Tucker Craft so good start of the season tears his acl Joe Burrow injury in the Bengals fallout. Huge fantasy ramifications across the board because another significant injury and missed time and then everything Vikings. That also made me cry.
Phil Gates
Yes, that was my fantasy storyline. Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
Is it really?
Phil Gates
It's Justin Jefferson's last four games.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah, it's brutal.
Phil Gates
The high water mark over those last four games is 11.1 fantasy points, 0 touchdowns during that stretch. Justin Jefferson is. We talked about this yesterday, so no need to belabor it, but just the idea that we're now having the conversation about whether Justin Jefferson might not be a Viking going into next season. And to be clear, there has Been zero suggestion from Jefferson himself or the Vikings that that would ever become a reality, but it's now. This is what happens in our world. This is natural to think or see a slumping superstar and say, would a change of scenery be best for all parties? But, yeah, it's been really tough. I have landed on Jefferson as my biggest bust in fantasy football. Unfortunately, it is not his fault. But when you're taking in the first five picks and the other five guys. I went in those first five picks, let's just remember who those were. Bijan, Jamar, Chase, Jameer Gibbs.
Daniel Dopp
He's good.
Phil Gates
Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson. So those two guys obviously fighting for it right there. Jefferson, though, man, really.
Stefania Bell
But at least Saquon's gotten the taste, right? He got. He got his super bowl ring, like, you know, and Justin Jefferson just. It's like you. You have to start looking in at the. Your career as a whole because you realize the clock is ticking and the skill set that you have as wide receiver is so depend dependent on things that are better in your youth. You know, your experience factors in that comes with age and. And time on the field, but, you know, the ability to stay healthy, the hamstring injuries. He's already dealt with a couple little hamstring issues. You know, he's. It's got to be going through his mind, at least. We saw Adam Thielen get, you know, waved from the Vikings favor because he knows it's his last year and he wants to go somewhere with the championship.
Phil Gates
Really?
Stefania Bell
The Vikings? Yeah, the Vikings make me cry, too. All the injuries and the Vikings.
Phil Gates
I don't think Justin Jefferson is motivated in this regard, but I can imagine if it were me in his shoes, which would never happen, but it'd be cool to think about. Justin has also maintained pretty much like, every early career record, like through X number of games or seasons. He's either at or near the top of every statistical barrier. It's got to be a little bit disappointing when it's like, all right, I'm number one through three, four and five years, and because of this season, I might slip to, like, fourth through six years. Yeah, like, I think that's human nature. I think I would want to stay atop those marks because you're the best receiver or on the short list for best receivers in the NFL.
Daniel Dopp
He has fewer touchdown catches over the last month than Traylon Burks, who obviously we know is a great wide receiver.
Phil Gates
Jefferson had a better catch than Treylon three years ago.
Daniel Dopp
I don't know. We'll see about that.
Phil Gates
That we should just every day going forward bring a different catch. Just do a poll.
Stefania Bell
Yeah, we, we got, we got 20 do left for shirt.
Daniel Dopp
Can I tell you really quickly? We had two mockups for this. The other mockup of this shirt was this catch with a with the greater than symbol and then the obj catch on the other side so that you had like both of them to like look at.
Phil Gates
Really well done.
Stefania Bell
So good.
Phil Gates
Can you also make this the background photo of your printer of your computer?
Daniel Dopp
I did in fact. Yes. I had to double down on it.
Phil Gates
You are very confident in that.
Stefania Bell
I love it. Did we highlight the fact that he's wearing a splint on that middle finger? Yes.
Daniel Dopp
And so you can see it. Right.
Stefania Bell
So injured Traylon Burks.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah.
Stefania Bell
Excited.
Phil Gates
Still getting the job.
Daniel Dopp
I love it. All right.
Phil Gates
Should we go to the mailbag especially for our audience? Do we have any mailbag questions?
Daniel Dopp
We got a couple of mailbag questions. Let's dive into it, my friends, for.
Phil Gates
Our viewers and listeners. Back to.
Daniel Dopp
We asked for a couple of questions off the top. This one comes from Burt Macklin wants to know Ashton Genti Aroma dunze in a PPR flex situation. I have to make the playoffs and I'm scared.
Phil Gates
Yeah, Bird, I think the answer is pretty clear here. It's Ashton Genti. Agreed. Because he's been more consistent. Even if the upside for each of these players is not a certainty each week Genti is going to play 90% of the snap. Get a ton of touches.
Daniel Dopp
I'm in on Ashton Genti and Stefania said it yesterday. Rome Odudze's nickname was not built in a day. It took a couple of weeks for him to be able to earn that one.
Stefania Bell
Poor Rome.
Daniel Dopp
All right, let's dive into another question here from our chat. This one comes From Tony Batchelor Jr. Wants to know Lamar. Justin Herbert or Jared Goff?
Stefania Bell
Actually, Justin Herbert.
Daniel Dopp
Let's talk about Justin Herbert.
Stefania Bell
Talk about Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert had surgery yesterday to address the broken bone in his hand.
Daniel Dopp
Not throwing hand, right?
Stefania Bell
Non throwing hand. Yes. To be clear, left hand broken bone in hand. Surgery to stabilize the fracture can wear protective shield with it. It would require the Chargers to operate mostly out of the shotgun. That would be what the game plan would have to be. Yes. And by assuming that he is healing well, there's no complications post injury that he can do. What he needs to do with bas basically back of the hand protection. That's why the hardware is in there is to prevent the bone from re breaking so from that standpoint, you know, a little side story that when they. The reason they found out you could go back to play so quickly is because, true story, Julio Jones, when he was at Alabama, broke one of these same bones in his hand. And basically after he was told it was going to be multiple weeks, they went in and had put hardware in. He was out catching passes and he was demanding they throw the ball harder to him. And he was like, yeah, I'm good. I could play. They were like, okay, you can play. And that became the case study for going forward, that you could play sooner after these kind of fractures with surgery. So fun fact, you could drop that at a cocktail party. Julio Jones, thank you very much. But as a result, Justin Herbert could play Monday night. It depends really how he's feeling and if the Chargers want to put him out there or not.
Phil Gates
Question. When you go to cocktail parties, medical people, do you guys talk about like Julio and hand recoveries and stuff like that? What it is probably, right?
Stefania Bell
No, it's weird. Is it? But probably at a conference because it's natural that those kind of things would come up when people who are the best of the best are all sort of around and what. I mean, it's not all they talk about. We're a little bit more interesting than that.
Daniel Dopp
Okay, sure.
Stefania Bell
But there, I can guarantee you, at a non medical cocktail party, there's somebody who's going to come up and say, oh, you're physical therapy. I have this pain in my back.
Phil Gates
Yes, I do.
Daniel Dopp
That. That's.
Stefania Bell
Actually, do you know what? I should. And I'm like, I'm off the, off the clock.
Daniel Dopp
That's so good.
Stefania Bell
So to answer the question, Jared Goff, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, who are you taking?
Phil Gates
I'm taking Jared Goff.
Daniel Dopp
He's been the best. How crazy is that?
Phil Gates
It's an unbelievable matchup. It is.
Daniel Dopp
And they need to. Even without. Even if they don't have Amon wrestling Brown or Sam LaPorta, they're going to have to, I think, keep up with this. And I don't think it's just going to be able to be the running game. I would, I would, I would. As a Lions fan, I actually feel probably more nervous about it than you guys do, but I would go with Jared Goff as well.
Stefania Bell
Because you're just nervous because you're feeling.
Daniel Dopp
I feel it.
Stefania Bell
I feel the somebody who rosters Lamar Jackson. I am feeling Jared Goff this week.
Daniel Dopp
There you go. There you go. I like that. All right, one more question here from our YouTube chat. This one comes from Greg. Oh, my egg wants to know. Jacoby Myers or my ego.
Stefania Bell
Like Lego.
Daniel Dopp
My Lego. Thank you, guys. Greg reference. I know you guys weren't getting watched the show sometimes yesterday, but there you go.
Stefania Bell
You know the doors for anyone who was paying attention yesterday. Eric Moody said he's working on your playlist. But the Lego mango, that was a big thing in it. Was it 70s, 80s commercials when the. It would pop up out of the toaster and you would grab.
Daniel Dopp
I just think of Stranger Things. Right. That's the whole thing of stranger things is 11:1. No, sorry. We're not in. We're not.
Stefania Bell
Stranger Things is. That's why.
Daniel Dopp
Oh, pop culture. That's why people like to. Okay. Because it's okay. Well, the question was Jacoby Myers or another wide receiver. Do you remember who the other wide receiver was? Just Jefferson.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Phil Gates
That's a remarkably close one.
Daniel Dopp
That was.
Phil Gates
That's. This is.
Daniel Dopp
This is the question that we asked for. We said give us these and this.
Stefania Bell
Is the dilemma early.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
I think that I would go with Kobe Myers. Kobe Myers.
Phil Gates
I know Mike would say Justin Jefferson.
Daniel Dopp
They're taking Indy. They get Indy this week. And also no. In Indianapolis lost. Is he lost. Gardner not lost for the season. Not on the ir. But no Sauce Gardner because of getting hurt.
Stefania Bell
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp
Yeah. So I think I'd go to Kobe Myers. Stefania.
Stefania Bell
Yeah. It's hard not to. I mean, we're week 14.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Stefania Bell
And if we're still wondering about Justin Jefferson, I think that is the answer to the question because it really hasn't shown itself.
Phil Gates
Yeah.
Stefania Bell
To be true. And we. We don't know about JJ McCarthy status yet.
Daniel Dopp
The real answer is just figure out how to be okay with the decision that you make and be all right with whatever happens from that decision.
Phil Gates
You know what they say, right. Every little thing is going to be all right. What song?
Daniel Dopp
Oh, three little birds.
Stefania Bell
Baby birds. I've seen. Love it. That's. That's called closing the loops.
Daniel Dopp
That's right.
Stefania Bell
So good.
Daniel Dopp
That's going to do it for today's show, presented by Wingstop. Thank you guys so much for hanging out with us. If you have the chance, please head on over to V.org donate today to give whatever you can to help fight the battle against cancer.
