Hello everyone. Welcome back to another stream on Fantasy Football Scout. Today I'm joined by a special guest. But not only is he a special guest, he is here to join me for a remainder of the season. As you know, on here every single Sunday we talk about my own team. This time around, I'm Josh joined by Josh Cuthbert. He is a former singer and still does a bit of singing. He's a model. You might have seen him before on Fancy football on Fantasy Football for Sky Sports but he is a very experienced manager with 16 years underneath his belt. Josh, how we keeping?
Josh
I'm good, thank you. I'm good. I'm excited to be here. It's going to be. It's going to be a good season, man. Listen, it's just for me this is all about just chatting all of the stuff we love going through the players of the week, looking at Teams to target. It's nice. Really exciting. Two weeks till the deadline now pretty much. Right, so we're getting to the final stretch. So yeah, this is all about just like trying to work out what to do because there's so many decisions in my head right now. So it'd be good just to chat through it all for sure.
Choi
So Josh, this is your first time joining me on a FPL stream and I'm really looking forward to it. Like I said, you're going to be joining me every single week. Right. Let me quickly give a little background about myself for anyone whose first time this is joining us. My name is choi. I have two top 5,000 finishes. I was world number two with no Haaland two or three seasons ago when he was absolutely nuclear. I want to say my playstyle is a bit erratic. I think that's the best way to put it. I'm not afraid to go with a differential or play how I want to play at times. I do understand that is not optimal, but I'm completely fine by it. I love FPL and I'm here for the long run. Josh, a bit about yourself. How do you find as a manager that you play again? Like I said, you've 16 years of experience. What type of way do you play?
Josh
Do you know what, it's funny. So my style of play changes has changed certainly in the last like couple of years. So before, before I started to kind of do this sort of stuff with you and you know, go on the sky sports news that I do sort of every other week or so. Like my whole goal was to win my friends mini league. So for me it was like I didn't really care about my overall rank. Obviously if you've got a good overall rank you, the chances of you winning your mini league are like, obviously they go up but for me it wasn't about my overall rank. My, my whole thing was winning my mates mini league. There's 22 of us. We've been doing it since college, like 15, you know, early college. So like 14, 15 years. So for me it's like quite often my, my goal would be get to the top and then just stay there. Whatever it takes to stay there. Whether that be copy the person in seconds team do some pretty brutal tactics like that. I just, I just don't care. Whatever it takes for me to win that mini league was what I wanted to do. So now I'm kind of playing it a little bit differently. I would like to think my mini league is quite wrapped up. I don't don't mean that in a confident way. I just more mean, like, because I do this now a lot and it consumes my brain more than ever. I feel like I'm in a position where the mini league hopefully will just win itself and then I can really concentrate on my overall sort of rank. But I like to take a few risks. I also like to play quite safe at times. My strategy changes throughout the season for sure.
Choi
Yeah. And that is going to make this really interesting because quite often we have someone on here who likes to go a bit different and I think it bounces off me really well. Now I'm hoping with you, Josh, you're going to hold me accountable this season also. And like you said about, you know, winning your, your mates mini leagues, I think it's going to be hard for you this season. And the reason for it is because they're going to be covering content, they're going to click on these streams, they're telling you, they're going to look at your team, they're going to take your thoughts and use it against you. So it is a blessing and a curse. So we might have to start making scripts here to throw them off, but no, it's gonna be fun nonetheless and we're gonna enjoy it 100%. So I'm gonna bring us to my updated draft. I've spoke last week and through videos on my own channel, Josh, on my own team, and it has changed drastically as the weeks have gone on. I mean, I'm sure I'm not the only one, especially creators that have hundreds and hundreds of screenshots of drafts in your camera roll and I'm no different. I'm gonna move us on to my own team now. Before I do that, let me quickly talk about fancy football scout and let me know in chat how the audio is and we'll be sure to answer as many of your questions in chat as possible. Good morning to you, Craig. Hello, Omar. We have Chris in chat and we also have sharp good morning essential as well. In front of you I have a QR code to rate your team from fantasy football scout. Be sure to scan the code on screen or go to the description and get your team rated. But Josh, let's move on to my team. For anyone who is listening, let me quickly read it out and you'll have it in front of you. For anyone who is watching Ungol Kinski remains, I have a tree at the back with Paro Mascara Maguire, foreign midfield Matthias Kuna, Florian Wirtz, Phil Foden and Brian Mbuemo three up top. Erling Haaland currently has the armband. Alexander Isaac, Joe Pedro. And on the bench I've got very tin. Fraser Forster, Issa Diop, Bobby Thomas and Will Hughes. Josh, when you first see this team, what are your first impressions? Is it in your type of ballpark of teams that you like or is it. Do you think it's quite against the grain?
Josh
I do like it. I mean you mentioned Foden, right? That's, you know, for me he, he's someone that I just think. I don't. I would love to have the guts to start him in my team. He is just like an absolute weapon of a player when he's on form. I mean, two years ago he was just, he was like an absolute must have in everyone's team. Right. So I like your team. It's something a bit different and I think that we can often get kind of like dragged into the kind of 10 plate team and I think sometimes that's quite dangerous because it just means that we're picking players that naturally wouldn't go to. But no, I like it. I think you've got some really good like, you know, quality and the depth and stuff like that and yeah, man, I mean, what, what, what are you thinking? Do you. I know I'm probably jumping the gun here, but have you got like a plan in mind with like chips or are you just kind of starting this going, this is the team I love at the moment and then our kind of chips will just fall into place naturally.
Choi
Yeah. I'm taking a very Irish approach with the chips right now. We have, I think we said, 12 days until the game week one deadline. Right. I'm seeing all this carnage unfold ahead of me and I'm trying to not jump the gun as things stand, I'm seeing lots of talk about bench boost 1, bench boost 2, wildcat 4, wildcat 6, triple captain 4 or 3, sorry, etc, Etc. And I think they're all great in their own right. I don't think there is necessarily a right way to do it. Here is where I currently stand on the chip strat though. I'm happy to let things roll out. I think for me, the later you wildcard the better. Now I can understand with the gameweek two fixtures, you know, with Coventry playing Hull, of course at home, I mean that' phenomenal fixture and you can go very cheap on the bench and there are options coming up who you know are going to allow you and enable you to have a very strong bench early on. And get it out of the way and then therefore you don't have to carry those funds in future teams. And that's completely fine by me. At the same time though, I think there are going to be. There are going to be areas in the season where options are, things are going to arise. Maybe we get a 4 million keeper who is going to start every single week. Maybe there's a 4 million defender due to injuries. So I don't think there is necessarily a right answer with my current team. I think it's set up to do a free hit in gameweek in gameweek 4 when Chelsea have maybe a poor fixture. But again even when I look at that the fixtures are actually quite good. You know, with Triple United we have double up on Liverpool and double up on City. So I actually don't think for this particular team there's a right answer. So to answer the question, I'm currently thinking World Card 6. I think it's a good window. We're going to have a two week or more international break. I'm not sure exactly how long it's going to be but it will be a good way to kind of see what happens in the international break. We'll have enough information to kind of gather some thoughts and change my team accordingly. And then maybe a bench boost seven or eight following that.
Josh
Yeah, because I mean I'm looking, you know, just looking at your team, you've obviously got. It's quite heavy. Liverpool, right. Isaac converted to really you. I think they're quite different and they're both quite different picks. Like I would imagine they're both under 10 selected. Right. But and also like in terms of the generic sort of template team I'm not seeing a lot of them in it. So I quite like that. I mean you're. If, if Liverpool go off to a flyer then actually you're in a lot. You're in a great position. And the thing is, the thing is with it right is I look at their fixtures, it's like Newcastle away last year would have been horrendous. But actually I could easily see that fixture just being like an absolute battery. They've got a. You know, so many teams at the moment are in transition and I think that's why it's making this early decision on how we start our teams really difficult because there's just so many new managers, there's so many new players. We've had a World Cup. There's so many unique kind of scenarios that are happening at the moment that don't normally happen. At the start of the season. So if Liverpool do well. I also really like the Pedro Parishai as well. I had him in my, I had him in my World cup fancy team and he was absolutely unbelievable for Spain and I just feel like he's such a confidence player if he has a manager that believes in him. And I think that, you know, I think Deserbi will absolutely love him. So mate, I'm looking at your team again now. I think it's, I think it's got enough differential picks in there, but it also has the big hitters in case the differentials don't pay off and I quite like that tactic.
Choi
Yeah, I think that's a great place to start Josh. So for more context, Josh is unfortunately a Chelsea fan and as you know, I'm a Spurs fan and I think that is a good place to start with this draft. Again we'll ramble about some differential picks and some of the strategy and players who are starting to arise. But let's start with Kinski and Paro. I've spoken this season quite a bit about Tottenham and my own thoughts being a fan. My biggest worry before I put Paro into this draft was of course he's won the World cup and we expect him to be late back in the pre season and I was there thinking, who is going to start for spurs come gameweek one? If it's not going to be Poirot, I don't think it's going to be Jed Spence who's also been with England and played a third place game. So I'm very confident in Paro starting this, this game week one and I don't think the Brentford fixture is excellent by any means, but I'm seeing Kinski in practically seven drafts out of ten. I want to say online, not that that has, you know, anything to go towards my team, I just mean people are backing spurs for the fixtures. First five fixtures, let's say maybe not necessarily as much Brentford way. Paro also provides the same clean sheet probability of course being from Tottenham, but also under the Zerby, we've seen an uptick from him as a fan I've seen this. I've been very critical of Poirot's tenure at spurs at points I've been critical of his one on one defending being a liability at the back post. Under the Zerby he's been one of the most improved players that I've seen and like you said, after the World cup he was phenomenal. He was very, very good getting crucial goals as well. So since the Zerbi we've seen him get defcon, he's provided good attack and threat. He's going to be on set pieces. And one thing in the back of my mind that I can't get out since yesterday was Dominic Solanke picking up an ankle injury and not being included. It makes me think if there's an off very small chance that Paro is going to take the PA the ball and take a penalty. Now Matus tell is going to take penalties for spurs if he's on the pitch. He very rarely makes a past 70 minutes. As you know Josh, our money is made in the last 20 and Poro, who is our second captain, I want to say with Romero gone, is there a chance.
Josh
You know what? It's not a terrible shout because Techn, you know, technically Po is one of your best players. You know, the way he strikes the ball, the way he delivers a ball, I can see it happening. The thing that I. The only thing that worries me a little bit about you've got a double spurs defense, right? And they've got I. I can see them. I know that they look so much more solid under the Zerby and I know he only had a small, you know, sort of six or seven or eight games at the end of the season, whatever it was to judge this son. And the Zerby teams are going to be stronger than Ange teams defensively for sure. But Brentford away Newcastle at home, Nottingham Forest away Everton at home. It doesn't scream clean sheets to me and that's why I've edged myself away from the Kinski shout. Now Poro, you don't have in your team just for clean sheets, right? You have him in potentially. Like you said, he could be on penalties. It really depends what you're going to do in the transfer window over the next couple of weeks. And I think that's also why it's difficult to really make, you know, a complete decision. But we have to unfortunately. But I, I just think a double defense. I get why people are going Kingski, it's 4.5. I mean we'll get on to my draft in a bit but I'm now edging towards more of a premium goalkeeper, a set and forget just leaving there for the whole season. I mean it's probably quite obvious which one I'm talking about right now. But I won't give him no spoilers. But I think the idea of double defense, you know, spurs defense, is that your kind of spurs hat on going you're hoping for a really solid team under the Zerby or are you just kind of. Or do you genuinely believe that even if you weren't a Spurs fan you'd be really strongly considering a double defense?
Choi
Yeah, and that's a very good point Josh. And you know quite sometimes I've had some spurs boys kicking kick in and I try not let it dictate and Back to back 17 places I'm the most pessimistic spurs fan. You know I'm very honest with. I like to think anyway and and at times I will, you know if they're more differential and I think they're equally an option as someone at the same price I'll go with them because you know, of course it's nice to have some of your own players at times except when it's spurs options. For me I'm seeing a lot of people with Nico Williams. I look at Nico Williams fixtures, you're back in attacking threat under Oli Glassner who people are saying is similar to Daniel Munoz. I don't personally see that they've got Leeds at home which I would deem a very difficult game. Forest who were particularly poor last season and ran through a few managers and also have the likes of Villa and Chelsea in there I believe it is to kick start the season in the first three or four games. I don't like that equally and look, I know it's not a fair comparison for us to spurs and I'm hoping spurs are going to be a bit better and I think most of us are expecting that. But also the fact that a lot of the other teams even let's just say in Arsenal who have Coventry at home they've also got a Villa and a Chelsea in there which aren't particularly great fixtures. Now even with difficult fixtures their clean sheet probability will be probably still in the 40s, you know, being a home game versus Chelsea and away at Villa and then you have the United assets who are the most favorable in terms of fixtures. I think outside of those options any team including Liverpool, you're probably looking at those fixtures and going I can concede, I'm conceding. So we're really for me I'm really trying to go, okay, I've gone with Kinski therefore and many other people have are back in spurs maybe to keep two clean sheets out of five which I think people would be happy with with a 4.5 goalkeeper anymore. You're laughing. And Poiro, if he's going to get any attacking threat or defcon in those fixtures, I just Think it's a nice way to differentiate yourself.
Josh
You know, actually I was literally just thinking, you know, maybe you're not looking. I mean, same with me. Maybe we're. I think the FPL community as a whole aren't looking at defcon as much as maybe we should do. But Poro actually got. I mean, I don't have the stats up in the top of my head, but I remember last season, surprisingly we'd get quite a lot of defcon, right? He's a bit of one of the, you know, those closing down at right back. He's very tenacious, he's very front footed. He's quite aggressive in the tackle too. So for me he's. He's actually, you know, he's not the first person I think of in that spurs defense for defcon. But it wouldn't, I wouldn't rule him out getting the old DEFCON here and there. And I think with the set piece threat that he's got, the attacking threat that he's got, I think he could be an explosive pick for sure. I mean, you're right, like the Nico Williams thing. I took him out last night at 1am When I was on the toilet. Sorry, bit too much info. That's where I do most. That's where I do most of my. That's where I'm most productive in fantasy. That's one of the pros. One of the pros of having ibs, right, is that my fantasy team gets a lot of attention because of that. So I took out Nico Williams last night exactly for the reason you said, like his run doesn't screen clean sheets. But then I look at it and go, Glasner under Crystal palace last season. None of their fixtures really scream clean sheets, but they did because of the back five they played, you know, Glasner system. That's why Nico Williams, I think is selected by a lot of people. The other player that isn't getting a lot of love at Nottingham Forest that I'm surprised about is Oleina or Aina. I think that's how you, I think that's how you say it because a couple of seasons ago he was an absolute beast. Like he was getting forward so much and I just think if he gets that license to kind of attack on that right wing backside, he could be a lethal pick at 4.5. So I do know what you mean. I think it's easy for us to look at the kind of the players that we've got. If you're a Chelsea fan, if you're a Spurs fan. I don't like to jinx having too many Chelsea players in my team, but I think the value for money with Kinski is a really good shout but we'll chat about why I'm not going there shortly.
Choi
Yeah, exactly that. And I think there are many different ways you can play it. Originally I had Roberto de Zerbi, er, Roberto Zerbi Van Heck instead of Poirot at the back and Jack makes a good point in chat. He says Poirot and Trafurt are excellent. Trefur is someone I look at someone who was similar to Olayina a few years ago before his injury and I think Trefur at 4.5 I believe it is maybe I could be wrong on that. It could be five is a decent option and is also gonna be decent for defcon. He actually hit Defcon yesterday I believe. And thank you to Aneesh who sent us our first super chat. Josh, he says loved Yusak pick up front and what a better way Anish to lead us into Liverpool. Josh who I know you are not so bullish on, tell me your thoughts on Liverpool. I know you touched on it briefly. Very similar in Szabaslay right? People are back in Szabaslay. I know he's gonna be on his set pieces and playing a bit further back. And then Wirtz recently in the last week or so I think has become popular. I've had Wirts in my first draft. People are back in verts well therefore same thing with Alexander Isak, the man who's potentially on penalties. Where do you stand with the Liverpool

I just. I. I'm not sure you can tell in the tone in my voice. I'm just like, I mean I currently have Shabazzli in my in mind but that almost just feels like I'm just covering it because so many people have got it. I don't necessarily have confidence. I want to see a bit more from Liverpool. I don't. They were, they were quite disappointing last season. I mean Shabazzli was, was one of the few that wasn't. But, but Wirtz just for me, whenever I saw him just really didn't impress me. He feels like the kind of guy before the assist a lot of the time and he feels like he just, I don't know. I want to see a bit more from him before. I love the idea that you've gone for with Wirtz and Isaac and I think Isaac, you know, before his I know he's so injury prone but before that big injury at Newcastle he was lethal but I just think Newcastle it's really hard, isn't it? Like I look at these fixtures and it is decent, it is really decent. But he's so expensive as well. Isaac, he's quite a lot of money to go. You know he's. He's quite a lot more than a Joao Pedro and obviously a Calvert Lewin. So I want to see a little bit more from Liverpool. I think if Liverpool come out the blocks against Newcastle then Everyone will be scrambling to get Isaac Vertz. A lot of people have double United attack understandably because of their fantastic run but kind of understand why people are doing the double Liverpool and double United attack if they want to do like an early wild card potentially to get them out. But yeah, Liverpool for me I just want to see a bit more. I want to see how they set up. Isaac is just, it's just a sprint away from a six week injury. So I'm. I just, you know, I mean I just, I'm just like oh come on bro, you're such a good player. But I want a bit of consistency. But it's a good, it's. It's food for thought for sure. I mean the idea of going verts Shabazz lights averts really appeals to me because he's a bit of a differential pick. But Sir Bozlai could also start the bloody season at right back as well. Man that would be an absolute nightmare for us managers. So because apparently frimponged out again and Bradley's obviously just never fit. So yeah I'm binding my time on Liverpool. I just want to cover one of them and I don't know which one that's going to be.
Choi
Yeah and just where I stand and sort of talk process. You know I have a lot of people telling me Liverpool were underwhelming last year as they were because we've set the bar so high after winning the league. You know we've set our own standard and I looked at kind of their season last season and kind of broke it down for what it was. From my point of view I think they scored something like 63 goals last year which was four or fifth highest in league. They had Ekitike to start the season who got injured of course midpoint through the season. Absolutely terrible injury. Isaac who's been stopped start all season. Salah who has been you know rumored to go for a while signed on for another year and he now he's gone to Turkey. They had to play a 17 year old winger in Rio, Ngamora who is a quality player. But you know for Liverpool standards and a player with potential you probably want a bit more injuries at the back. Whether it's Konate in and out of the team. Of course they had the early injury to Leone. Conor Bradley injured, Fring Pong injured, Arnie Slot unsure if he's staying which you know there was a lot of noise. Liverpool when they have a fully fit team. Not to say that they do of course Isak is made of Weetabix. So I wouldn't be surprised to see an injury. I'm hoping and I look at these fixtures. Josh with Newcastle away, his former team, who are a bit of a shambles right now, even though they've recruited a good manager. I just think there's so much potential. That's what I'm paying for here, the potential of points here. I could see Liverpool like they'd on last season, start the season well and I'm hoping this time it can come through the likes of an Isaac Kawaii. I'm tipping to be on penalties.
Josh
Yeah, I don't mind it. No, listen, I don't mind. I'm looking at the chat here as well. Like FPL Tough saying I've got Kuna and Wemo. You know, she was lying. I love that. I. I absolutely love that. And I think the great thing with having double chips, I'm not a big fan of it in fantasy, I prefer, you know, a couple years ago when we just had one load of chips. But we have that option that if the cuny and Buemo, you know, isn't paying off because obviously I'd imagine that FPL Tough won't have Bruno Fernandez. You can, you can get him back in. You can get a really wild card if, if, you know, if hits the fan, excuse my swearing, then you can do that. So I don't. Listen, I'm not. I think Isaac is a superb player if he can get a run in the team. And now, especially with Ekatika being injured, right, he's got to start. The only thing is I worry a little bit with him is the early sub. He's not. Doesn't look to me like he's going to be playing 90 minutes each week. I can see him playing 65, 70, so that's the only thing that concerns me a little bit. But if he's a short three, four week pun, I don't think there's many better than him. I see a lot of people with Calvert, Lewin. Yeah, fine. Like I'm. I'm a bit bored of, you know, it's a bit of a boring pick, but at 6 million it feels quite safe. And also I want to mention something that someone's put in the chat, actually. Ben Allen, who said why everybody is not picking Semeno. So true, by the way. Yeah, so true.
Choi
And I couldn't agree with it more. Sorry. Just on. On Isak again. I agree actually that he's going to see 75 minutes. I do expect early subs because Unless we see more silence from Liverpool and Ekitike making a quicker recovery. I just want to point to for Sweden, he played four back to back 90s at the World cup, which I think is going a bit underneath the radar. I mean we point at Isak because he's seen massive injuries and of course little niggles here and there and people are saying he's lost a bit of pace. It's pre season people, we expect him to start the season. That's the main thing. And again, like I said, an early wildcard is always an option. This will be our route to your team, Josh, because this is enough about my team and we can talk about City assets, Semenyo and the United assets and lots of coverage. Chewie is saying as a Chelsea fan, Josh, about Pelistra and we'll get your take on him in just a second. Let's move on to your team just quickly. So for anyone who's listening, I'm gonna read out Josh's team and then Josh is gonna run us through. Ungoal. He's gone. Born like you said, a set and forget in Rhea, A three to back in Dan Ballard, Califioria Maguire four in the field in Fernandez, Sabosloy, Le Fillian and Buemo. Three up top with Haaland, Calvert, Leon and Joe Pedro on the bench. He's gone with Dubravka, Diop, Hughes and Vanuk. You would think with Josh's team that he's gone and chose the community team here. Josh. Runners through.

No, listen, I've not seen any community having double. I know you're joking, man. I'm not gonna nibble. I'm not, I'm not having that. No, I, I, I do, I think, listen, this is the thing. My team has changed. It changed by like four players last night. So maybe by the end of this stream it will change by another two players. I don't know. But I, I think sometimes I like you can just look at fancy and you looking at last season and the obvious things. It's so funny how we have a six week, seven week break and we just forget. A lot of us just forget the obvious things that you know, I always try and take myself Back to like GameWeek 37 Game Week 38 last year where I'm like oh if only I did this or if only I did this. Like I want to try and take myself back into that headspace because that headspace was like should have kept Tarkowski the whole season because he's a DEFCON beast and he will always get three or four or five goals from a set piece Arsenal. I have to always have double defense because they're so solid. So I'm just trying to take myself back to that kind of. That headspace of like Calvin Lewin punished me a lot last year as well and I didn't have him at all, not, not for one single week. So. And I know that Bueno likes to start quite fast in the Premier League, so I'm kind of hoping that happens again. But I mean we'll go through it. Like I've got the double Arsenal defense at the moment and I didn't actually have a single Arsenal defender in my team like three or four days ago. I had mascara for a bit. But he doesn't excite me. He's not going to get defcon. Feels like his ceiling is six points which is obviously lovely if you get six points every week. Happy days. But you know, a defender that gets defcon, you're only a couple less. So I. That was what was worrying me a little about him. I like the Califuri shout. I think he will start left back for Arsenal. I've got quite, you know, another bit of advice I would always give people listening is like if you've got mates that are big fans of other teams, pick their brains like ask him, you know, like my best mate is a massive Arsenal fan, obsessed with them and he's a sure. He's assured me that Califuria will start left back back. And I just think that him parading up and down that kind of left side, he gets in some really dangerous positions and I really like him. Rare, like I said, is just a set and forget. But then again, the Arsenal, you know, the Arsenal fixtures don't scream particularly easy, but Coventry at home you'd like to think is a clean sheet. Aston Villa away in game week two sounds difficult and it's got that big red four in difficulty fixture next to it. But last season, do you remember Aston Villa were so bad at the start of the season the either and also they've lost like Rogers, they've lost Telemans. So I just look at this and also I'm a Chelsea fan, you know, Arsenal then got Chelsea at home in game week three. We've notoriously struggled against Arsenal in the last however many years. So I just see clean sheets there and I think maybe we can overthink it and just think double up on the Arsenal defense. He almost feels like you're guaranteeing that sort of six points each week for a while and I like that, that. That's something that kind of is like a bit of a set and forget for me. And then going through. You know, I've got Maguire, he's. Do you know what's really funny right? Him. He's been the only defender that has just stayed in my team the whole time. I think he's going a bit under the radar. I think a lot of people are opting for Luke Shaw at 4.5 to save that 0.5 million. But for me, Harry Maguire should get more Def Con even though in pre season he's not been getting Def Con which is, which is a bit concerning. But then it's pre season, right? You can't look at it too much. But his threat from set pieces and playing Har Ipswich and Everton in the first three is superb. So yeah, and then, you know, going on to midfield. I've got that double up in Manchester United at the moment I'm arming in R. In between, whether it's in Buemo or Cunha I'm going for at the moment he just excites me a bit more. Especially if Sesco isn't fit and then we most starts in that number nine row. I think he could be fantastic value. Like I said earlier, Shabazzlai is my Liverpool midfielder, but I would quite like to go up to Verts. I do like Verts. That shout is a bit of a differential pick. The feet Lefe feels like really, really, really good value for money and I know a lot of people have got him in their draft, but I'm hoping he's one of those picks that people have at the moment and then closer to the deadline go, oh, I can't have Le Fay in my team. Do you know what I mean? I'm kind of hoping people do that. So then he's. He's only selected by 12% of people, so it's not a huge amount of ownership. But obviously in the FPL community it feels like it is. And then the kind of front three is a bit boring, is a bit 10 play. I do like the idea of going without Joao Pedro and then maybe bringing a Joao Pedro and a Cole Palmer in, you know, for that gameweek four fixture against Hull. But I think why not just start with him? The guy's a bit of a monster and at 7.5 million it feels like great value. So yeah, there's my team. I mean, apart from the kind of classic banter you've given me already about the tear game, what would you think about it?
Choi
No, I think it's a very solid team and people in chat will point to how good it is overall. I mean, it's very hard to pick apart a team like this. You've gone very, very solid structurally. Your target and fixture is Sunderland who started the season amazingly last year. You know, when I see Joe Pedro and Calvert Leon and Haaland, that's when I start pointing the gun. And Bruno Fernandez and Brian Bowman stopped. So I think it's popular for a reason, Josh, and I can completely understand that. I actually want to touch off Calvert Lewin because it's kind of just came into my brain as I was kind of looking at your team and I was thinking, I mean I can understand why people are going. Calvert Lewin, out of the 6 millions, I think he is probably the best and Leeds are for me a great team. I think they've been very impressive. I look at their team for each position by position and they're very, very strong. And of course he's on penalties when he's on the pitch. I just think it's funny because, you know we talk about Isak as a player who has seen big injuries. Calvert Lewin is a player that historically has had injury after injury stop start. So I think it's convenient. Obviously he's on fire, but also historically one of the worst finishers on paper in the league. I mean his XG stats in comparison to conversion rate and of course he was much better last season. And when your stops start it is of course confidence plays a factor in it. But I just think it's interesting, you know, we really go off kind of what we seen last season and forget about other players who I think have the capabilities to be some of the best players in the league. But that's just my piece on Cavalier. I think overall he's a great option. I mean good fixtures and a phenomenal team for, for Leeds, of course, just on Sunderland, right. There's been a very popular pick who has has come up in the last day or so. Troy Hume. He's playing right wing for Sunderland and I believe he's cheap as chips. I'm not sure on his exact price, you let me know in chat but he's getting a lot of attention and potentially one to enable us. How confident are you going into the season with potentially double Sunderland?
Josh
I mean I've got, you know, I've got double sunder and I've got, you know, I've got Ballard. I, I really want Michieli. I genuinely, I'm gonna make a Big statement here. I think he will be, I just think for value, you know, I just think he'll be up there in the top four defenders point scorers by the end of the season. I really do. I think. I think Michieli is just such a good pick and I'm trying to. I'm really deciding between dropping Maguire to a Luke Shaw and then upgrading Ballard to look Yelli. I just. I think he scored again in pre season last weekend. I think, I think Sunderland, if they lost Jacques, I wouldn't even be going near Sunderland. I really wouldn't. I wouldn't be going near Le Fay, I wouldn't be going near Ballard. I think Xhaka is that glue in that team and he keeps them just so solid. So the fact that they've kept him. I really like the idea of Sunderland. Ballard is in there for me for goal threat man. People just sit there and go, Ballard, defcon Ballard, defcon. Ballard's goal threat is insane. I read like a stat the other week, it was like the second or third highest, you know, in terms of like expected chances or expected goals from set pieces for a defender. And I think how maybe let's have a little look. He didn't start. How many did he. Yes, he got a bit injured last season. He started 24 games. So if he played 30, 35 games, that stat would have even been even higher. So I don't mind the Sunderland pick. I mean, I've currently got it. There are. So the problem is Chai is there's so many options, right. Like, you know, I've got another kind of a couple of little tweaks I've got screenshotted here that I could make would be. I love Gibbs White, massive Chelsea fan. Like I said, if. If we lose Enzo Fernandez, which I think will be the case, I don't know how, whether that's alone with obligation going somewhere, God knows how. But I think Enzo Fernandez will leave. There are rumors that Chelsea want to replace him with Gibbs White and I just think Morgan gives. White is just such a baller man. I don't know about you, but I just think he's so good. He excited me so much. I didn't have him in a single week in my fantasy team last season. So I would love to get him in and make a few little tweaks here and there. Potentially moving Jao Pedro out, bringing him in and having a really solid five, you know, maybe upgrading Will Hughes to Gibbs White and then taking Joe Pedro out for a 4.5 striker. That's kind of something I've considered to make a bit of a differential play. But yeah man, like the options. There's so many options right now. But I'm quite confident with the Ballard and Lefebic for sure.
Choi
Yeah I think that is. That is brilliant and I would agree, you know just on Mukiele he did get a knock 2 games ago I believe in a friendly and then he picked up. Sorry he was not included in the last squad. So something to keep an eye on. Ballard is definitely a great show and I did see an Opta trade I believe it was and it was an unbelievable read. Do check it out. But they basically went through all the corners that were taken because the percentage of corners scored was astronomically high. I think it was a record. Something like 14, 15% of goals came from him or something like that. Don't quote me on that. And they had stats of individual players and you know I agree with you. Ballard is a phenomenal goal trip. One of those that I think is going to show up this season is going to be Luka Vuzkovic. I think he's going to be phenomenal. Where was I? I had a very good point that I wanted to make. I wanted to go back to Police

These 4.5 and 5 million options, there is a heap of them and I think it's very hard to know which one to go for. And like you said how I was speaking about Porro and Palistra has won from Chelsea and he's found himself so far up the pitch. Vuzkovic, who I named at Brighton options in the last day or two because some friendly fixtures are very much popular in terms of the community and they're starting to go into many teams, whether it's Gomez in midfield for five, I believe it is, or 5.5. And also Vuskovic, who I just touched on. Talk to me about police for first off.
Josh
PoliceTRA 5.5 million. He we all, well, I'd imagine we all remember Marcus Alonso, right for Chelsea and that left wing back role and the Conte in particular. He was sensational. I mean he's a real goal threat. Alonso was and Palestra reminds me of him. I also love how positive Alonso's being about him in the press. He is bigging him up, up like no tomorrow. And I, you know, Chelsea's transfer strategy over the last few years in my opinion has just been an absolute shambles. Like yes, we sell very well and all of that nonsense, but we've made so many just unnecessary signings and we've not backed particular managers. But one thing that Chelsea are doing this season and in this window is we're back in Alonso and what he wants to do. And you know, there's no way we'd have signed Palestra this season unless Alonso wanted him. And he really excites me and the thing that really excites me about him is he's just so athletic, man. He just gets up and down that wing like as soon as, you know, I've watched us quite a lot in pre season. As soon as an attack happens, he's there. And I love that in a defender, right, like. And also another great thing about him is he's not just the right wing back. He can play on the left wing back, he can play right back, he can play left back. And I actually wouldn't even surprise me if at points he comes into midfield in that kind of Nico O'Reilly role that the Pep used to do last season for him. He just feels like a really all round solid player and I think he's perfectly suited for the prem, you know, physicality wise and. And all of that stuff. So I also think he's going to start the season. I don't think Rhys James is. I think I can see a world where sort of in possession we. We almost play this sort of back three with Rhys James sort of more right center back, Lacquaar in the middle and then Colwill on the left side. So. And Palestra will be that one bombing on and bombing on. So he could be a fantastic pick. I mean if you've got the guts to go for him from the start, fair play to you. But I wouldn't, you know, I think you can buy your time on him a little bit just to see how we do set up on the. On those first few games, you know, fill them away Notoriously has been not that high scoring game for Chelsea. Brighton feel like a bit of our bogey team in recent years. And then obviously Arsenal away those first three fixtures don't scream clean sheets for Chelsea. But then again, like I've just said like you're not really putting in Palestra for the clean sheets necessarily. You're putting him in for the attacking threat. So I think he'll be hugely popular come game week four. But if you want to start with him, he could be a brilliant differential pick. Yeah, I think he'll be the signing of the summer for Chelsea for sure.
Choi
Yeah. I was talking to Chewy FPL in chat and he is a massive Chelsea fan. Also he does some analysis on games and he's been tipping Palistra for the start of the season. Interesting that you pointed towards athleticism from Palistra. He's actually clocked the fastest speed in the Serie A last season I believe it was, which Chewie told me. So that just goes to show. And he's finding himself so advanced. I think you're right though. And I would look at it exactly how you just did those fixtures. You know, Fulham at the cottage, Brighton, who for me are a team who definitely can score goals and have shown us that. And then of course Arsenal, which is just Arsenal. Unfortunately that was my point that I wanted to make. Sorry, I know I'm getting sidetracked and we have hit the 40 minute Josh. But I'm happy to go over it for a little bit more as our first stream.
Josh
Yay.
Choi
And very much enjoying it. Hit the like button and subscribe to fancy football Scout, if you aren't already, Gibbs White is the player I wanted to talk on. He got to. Here we go to Tottenham and It didn't happen unfortunately. And at the time, I'll be honest, I was unsure how to feel about it in a sense where Eze or Gibbs White or both and how he would fit into a Thomas Frank team after that season he had last year. He is a phenomenal bowler and I completely agree. And if you're Chelsea, I can completely understand why you'd want to player like that. For me though, 8 million for a Nottingham Forest player. I think it really comes down to how you gauge not in the forest this season. Where do you see them finishing? How do you think they'll start the season? New manager, Mr. Varinkus who always has a bust up with the manager looks like are they going to hold on to a player like gives way? You know that has a massive impact. You know, maybe some of the defenders you even go for or your thoughts on Forest as a. As a whole. But yeah, I really like a Gibbs White of course and I do think there will be a point in the season and it'll really come down to fixtures for me. I don't favor him currently. Like I've not once put him in a draft and gone. I'm confident with that at 8 million. And maybe do you have a different opinion on that Josh, where you'd actually be quite comfortable going with a giveaway?
Josh
I would, I really would. Yeah. I just think everything runs through him and he's. I think I, I like. Do you know what? I like the players that got snubbed for the World Cup. I like. I, I just feel like the Cole Palmers, you know, the Morgan Gibbs Whites, the Joao Pedros. I just think they're gonna have. They're really gonna be up for it, man. They're really gonna be in this point where they're gonna be like, you know, I'm gonna show the international coach. You should have picked me for sure. So I like that Gibbs White has that. I mean 15 goals and four assists last season. He. He was just an absolute beast. And I know 8 million feels like quite a lot, but it's not that much when you think about it when you break it down. And actually if you sat there and said to me now like my decision would basically be Morgan Gibbs White or Calvert Lewin essentially because I can do a little bit of tweaking. So I could have a five in midfield with Morgan Gibbs White or I could have a four in midfield with a Hughes on the bench and then a Calvert Lewin is part of my three. And I would rather Morgan gives White and Calvin learn Every single day. I know they're 2 million more and I understand that you have to do quite a lot of tweaking to help sort of get that happening. But we're in a good position where quite a lot of starting defenders that we've got have alternative options. 0.5 or 1 million cheaper. You know, I say Senesi, I think is 1 million. You know, Van Heck is 1 million cheaper than Senesi. You've then got things like Luke Shaw is 0.5 million less than Maguire. It's all about finding those little bits of cash, but not kind of making too much of an impact to your team. And I think that's what all of this tinkering is all about. So I do really like Nottingham. I think Nottingham Forest will be really solid. But, you know, Glasner's done a really good job at Palace. I think his attacking options at palace were a lot more limited than what he's got. A Forest. I think Forest have got a bit apart from Absar. I think Forest just got a bit more about them from an attacking sense. So, yeah, I do like them. But then I look at the fixtures. Leeds home. Apart from that, they then got Liverpool away, Spurs at home and Villa away. So maybe he's not someone you start with, maybe someone you bring in from game week five when they play Coventry. But I don't know. I feel like he could do still really well.
Choi
It's hard. It's hard. And that's what we're doing, Josh. We're tinkering left, right and center. Everyone has so many questions about everyone. Good to see FPL Cayman in chat. Fancy seeing you in here, says Chewy. He's mentioning Hume, who is just so good at 4.5. Again, an abundance of 4.5 options. Lastly, Josh, we couldn't go and end this stream without talking about your chip strategy. Then you've asked me what I think I'm gonna do. I still don't think there's a right answer. I think if you want to bench boost early, by all means get it out of the way. But for me, I'm happy to wait. How do you feel?
Josh
I'm the same, man. I'm the same. I really, and I'm being honest, I really don't have a clue. I really, really don't have a clue. I try and, you know, I was trying to sort of see if I could create a team that had a decent bench boost one, but I just didn't like it. I didn't like it and I just don't want to start the season with a team. I really don't like having so many good options on the bench because it's just the most painful thing when your bench scores points. Last season it happened to me. I swear, it happened every week, bro. Like, I mean, what's his name? Van de Ven. Your. Your Van der Ven killed me. Every week would get so many points on the bench. So for me, I'm like, I've always historically had a bit of a crap bench and I don't mind that maybe, you know, maybe with a cheap player that can come on in an emergency. So I don't really like the idea of an early bench boost. I do understand why people are doing it, but I think there'll be other opportunities. We've got, you know, 18, 19 weeks before the chips refresh. That's a lot of time. It's a lot of opportunity to play it. And I just feel like maybe after you kind of wild card, whenever that is, a bench boost could be a shout because by then we'll also know the cheap players, the enable, the, you know, the real cheap enablers who are doing all right. So in answer to your question, I don't really know at the moment if I was to go with, say, no Chelsea then from the start, then maybe like you said, a free hit from sort of, you know, in game week four could be a real possibility. But I need to give it a bit more thought. I just think there's so many options at the moment that I'm just trying to sort my 11 out, let alone trying to work out my chip strategy. So, yeah, I would just. If you're listening, I wouldn't stress too much about it. I think there'll be plenty of opportunities to play all of the chips for the next 19 weeks.
Choi
Yeah, and I would absolutely agree with that. It makes it much harder seeing a lot of people, especially in the community, who seem to be quite set or quite favoring one option other than the other. I don't think you have to go there. I actually think in terms of the seasons that I look at, you know, if you start the season strong, I think it's actually crucial for me in terms of, you know, having an unfamiliar rank. I think it's very important you get to start the season right because then you can start building team value. You have a lot of players that people want. If you start a season well and you mightn't be forced or necessarily have to set up a wildcard that you could actually leave later. Down the line closer to the second half of the season. But Josh, we could go on here for hours. I'm sure it's been an absolute pleasure to have you on. I actually think these Sunday streams are going to be so exciting for everyone who has tuned in in chat. Hope you've enjoyed. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
