Welcome back to another video and podcast from Fantasy Football Scout. In today's video, I'll be talking you through my latest draft and my bench boost strategy. With the FPL deadline less than two weeks away. Yes, guys, hope you're doing well. Welcome back to the Fantasy Football Scout Channel. And yeah, fpl, the deadline is getting closer and closer, so I thought this Saturday would be a great time to hop on here, talk through my latest draft and talk through my bench boost strategy. In this video, I'll be going through three different drafts, the first of which is what I would do if I was playing no chips, the second of which is a bench boost one team and the third is a bench boost two team. I think it's good to kind of start with a team that is kind of what I would do without a bench boost. To give you a flavor of what I think is the ideal 11. And then you kind of work backwards from there and flesh out your bench a little bit by moving some funds around and then covering off the differences between a gameweek one bench boost and a game week two bench boost should hopefully give you some players to consider if you're on either strategy and maybe will make you rethink your current plan. But yeah, before we get going, I will just shout out the Fantasy Football Scout membership which you can scan with the QR code that's just to the left of me on screen or right as you look. It's also in the podcast show notes. If you're listening over there, check that out from the description. If you're on YouTube, scan the QR code and sign up for a Fantasy Football Scout membership. But without further ado, let's get in to the first team. So the first team on screen I'll read it out quickly for the podcast is one that I would is the team I'll go with if I if I wasn't planning to play a bench booster early doors. So this was kind of my initial draft. It hasn't changed too much. A few minor alterations that we'll speak to in a minute. But for those in the podcast it has Kinski and goal Van Dyke, Mosquera, Harry Maguire, Yosco Gavardiol, Enzo Le Fay, Soberslai, Brian and Bumo, Bruno Fernandez, Erling Haaland, Xiao Pedro and then a very, very budget bench that certainly isn't boostable of Dubravka, Bobby Thomas, Slater from hull and Fulham' 4.5 million striker, which I'm not going to attempt to pronounce on video. So yeah, this is a team that obviously has all the funds funneled into the starting eleven. I think Kinski is the best four and a half goalkeeper, closely followed by Verbruggen with maybe Petrovic as well, who deserves a shout out. But yeah, Kinski for Spurs is I think they've got okay fixtures to start. There's no standout ones but there's no super duper hard ones either. In defense, I think it will pay off to go big at the back like last season. I think targeting players that have, you know, that balance out defcon with goal threat and of course strong clean sheet potential is the way to go and that is predominantly why I've considered center backs. Van Dijk I think is being extremely overlooked thus far. Liverpool sit top of the fixture ticker for the first five weeks. We know how good he is. I think he scored four goals in his last sort of 15 games to end the season. He's a massive goal threat and Liverpool, as I say, have some good fixtures. You can balance that out by saying they have a new manager, which of course you know. So there is some unpredictability there. But Van Dijk for now, I think is is a safe pick. We'll have to see who lines up beside him at center back. If Jack A is fit and starts the last preseason friendly at 5 million then he could very much come into consideration. I think it makes sense to cover off Arsenal defense so Mascara does make the cut. In my other drafts I've gone for Califiori. I think this is a top a toss up at the moment. Califuri has started left back in the last few friendlies and looks like he has that position locked down. Mosquera more defcon potential less attacking threat. However they do keep being linked with a center back namely ESRI Konsa so we will have to wait and see there. That's probably going to be a community shield and transfer window based decision. Gavardiol at Man City has played a variety of roles in pre season. He's played left back, he's played left sided center back. All the kind of tacticos on social seem to think that he is nailed in that Maresca system. He has benefited from more or less a full pre season as well having played a few minutes at the World cup but not loads. So yeah I think he is good to start the season for sure. O'Reilly is not yet with the team so there's less competition at left back. 8 Nori was played on the left wing for Man City's first team, first most recent friendly. Sorry. So unlike Enzo Maresca and Ben Chilwell at Chelsea, I think that kind of stereotypical attacking fullback is less his cup of tea when it comes to fullbacks. So Gvardiol looks like a great bet especially with those five home fixtures in Man City's first nine weeks which all bring good clean sheet potential. Finishing the defense is Harry Maguire. I think lots of people going for Luke Shaw and he's a perfectly good pick in isolation. But Harry Maguire for me is worth the extra 0.5 for a bit more DEFCON, a bit more goal threat. He got 90 points in half the starts that Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw got 113points in 38 starts last year. Harry Maguire was just 23 points behind on 90 despite starting half the matches. So I think that says it all. Moving into midfield. Enzo Le Fay is a good cheap enabler with good fixtures. They kick off with Ipswich, Fulham and Brentford. He's got penalty share which we he kind of rotates them with Diara but I think we think that he is first choice. He's on set pieces he can get. Defcon looks like a solid selection as does Sobusly, although I do have My doubts about Silver Sly in terms of what exactly his ceiling is but he is none nevertheless a good minutes pick for Liverpool's fixtures. Bruno Fernandes is of course there like Erling Haaland they're non negotiables for me. You can rotate the captaincy and of picking the two most expensive players in the game mean that you can come down as and when you need to A change from the last video Is Mbumo in for Cunha? Put simply in Bumo I think he's got better goal threat numbers and he has been playing in pre season. Kunya hasn't played any minutes yet. That will change soon but I think in Bumo is in the best position to maximize the start of the season especially when you factor in that Benjamin Sesko is still absent as he recovers from injuries so there could be some upfront minutes there for Mbumo at just 8 million playing against Hull and M switch in the first two weeks the final player in this team is Xiao Pedro. A few people sacrificing him for the bench boost. I've opted not to as we'll come on to later. I think he is just a brilliant pick I think he's underpriced. I think Chelsea have got good fixtures to kick off with Fulham and Brighton and Hull in the first four and he is of course locked in to start as Chelsea's nine for the new season. So that is the no chip draft. I think it's really well balanced. I think that would it gets you through probably past a wild card four with double Liverpool gets you through to wild card six potentially with the only sort of plan transfers perhaps being Lafay out and then Bumo out in game week four. You could make a couple of moves there to look at the likes of Chelsea or Brighton or Leeds they have good fixtures after that or maybe even Crystal palace in the form of Ishmael Assad. You could perhaps look at Rogers and Sar in for Mbumo and Lefe but on the whole I like that team. It's balanced. You could bring in Bobby Thomas for game week two if, if if you wish but on the whole I like that team. However it is unlikely to be the team that I start with as we will see later on in the video

before we move on to Bench Boost 1, a quick shout out for the Fantasy football scout team rater. I put this team in by uploading a screenshot from my phone and it gave it an 88 rating which I was pretty happy with. That's, you know, pretty high as it goes. You can press the link in the description to get your team rated. It's especially helpful if you're deciding between drafts. If your camera roll is full of FPL teams like mine is, it makes sense to get them rated and filter out the wheat from the chaff there. So yeah, click the link in the description to rate your team for free. Just upload a screenshot and it will give you a free rating. Cool. So the next part of the video we are going to look into bench boost gameweek1 so this is a team I've put together. This is actually my current draft and my current strategy and I'll try to attempt to explain why in this video. The first thing to say is why are people bench boosting in game we want? Well, game week one of course is essentially like a wild card. We have complete freedom to spend our money where we want it. That's one reason. A second reason is we do not have a playing 4 million goalkeeper in the game. Obviously Dubravka is widely selected, but he is of course spurs number two. And pending an injury aside, we will not have a 4.0 keeper starting in game we want. Unlike last year when we had Martin Dubravka at Burnley. This means that to bench boost probably effectively and optimally, to use that word, you will need to spend more than the minimum on a goalkeeper. Lots of people like to have a dead spot on the bench, as you saw in the last draft. I just went with Dubravka and Kinski. But in this draft we have had to spend on two goalkeepers. So it makes sense to do so either in game week one or after a wildcard. The benefit of doing it in GW1 is you can of course wild card out of this expensive bench. Whereas if you say played a wild card in gaming six, you filled up your bench, especially with a second playing goalkeeper, you are stuck with that until you decide to transfer him out or wild card again in GameWeek 30 or so. So it does make sense to play the chip before your wild card if you're looking at it from a bench point of view. Another reason is it's fairly straightforward to pick a playing bench. It's easy to get to a playing 15. This draft has Haaland and Bruno in it and a playing bench. There are budget picks the likes of o', Shea, Ipswich. You've got four and a half million defenders. You've got some fairly cheap midfielders that we'll talk about in a minute. So it's very achievable to get a gimmick one bench boost and it does just get it out the way. Is that a good reason to play the chip? I'm not sure. I think people have much higher expectations than they should for their bench boost. I'm looking at this and I'm seeing saying if I can get one clean sheet, I'll probably get 12 points and I would take that run with it and forget about the bench boost until the second half of the season. So that's my approach to the bench boost in GameWeek 1. For those in the podcast, I'll read out this draft and then talk through it in Golkinski defense of Maguire, Califuri and Gvardiol. In midfield, Bruno Fernandes, Brian Abumo, Enzo Le Fay and Iliman Ndi. Up front I've got for Haaland, Calvert, Lewin and Joao Pedro with a bench of Verbruggen, Gross, Ajer and o'. Shea. So this gaming one bench boost is. It's maybe slightly different to other drafts that you've seen. Primarily because I want to keep Mbumo and Joao Pedro in my team so those are two players that I think Mbumo is is fairly differential in the community. Lots of people I think he's maybe 20 owned in the game at the minute. Excuse me if that's wrong but he's a player I really want. I really want a second Manchester United attacker for those fixtures with Hull and Ipswich. Other people prefer Liverpool midfielders and that's fine but I really want to target those two promoted teams for Man United to kick off and Joe Pedro again lots of people if they're considering a free hit game week four or a wild card game week six or a wild card game week four sorry they they're happy to go without Xiao Pedro for Fulham Brighton Arsenal I completely understand the Arsenal fixture and ideally I would perhaps bench him for that game if I can find a squad that makes that happen but for the first two fixtures I'm keen to own gel Pedro especially as he is over 50 owned so that kind of sets up the team. As a result Sobaslai is the full guy. There is no Liverpool in this team which is probably the biggest sort of I guess negative. As I said before they're top of the fixture ticker I could do in Bumo to vert that is something that potentially extends this team longer towards a wild card 6 because Liverpool have good fixtures in gaming 3, 4 and 5 where whereas Manchester United do slightly turn with Everton and man City Gaming 3 and 4 however the flip side that is I can transfer out in Bumo to Vert to Rodgers. I can wait in that position around GIMBI 4 if required so in defense as I said before love Harry Maguire, love Gavardiol although community Shield probably dependent on that pick Califiori is in for now I think he's got that left back spot nailed down at least before the Champions League kicks off so I'm happy to take the gamble on some attacking threat there Other changes from the previous draft to kind of afford this team is Calvert Lewin is in as a kind of cheaper forward. I think he's the best of the 6 million bunch. Igor Jesus is okay as well although his fixtures don't last as long. Leeds have five good fixtures to start the season. Calvert Lewin absolutely nailed and on penalties is great for me. Eliman NDI is of course transfer window dependent. There are a lot of rumors but they do seem to have quietened down of late and he is he has rejoined preseason training so the Everton's penalty taker home game against palace to start I really I do like that as long as he is an Everton player come deadline so let's focus on the bench. So the bench boost for this team would be Verbruggen at home to Aston Villa, Pascal Gross at home to Aston Villa, AJ at home to Tottenham and o' Shea at home to Sunderland. So Pascal Gross I think five and a half million he is the best bet for game week one in that position. Other options that people like are Sangare Brentford's new signing, although that is a slight risk as we have no Premier League to go on despite the fact he is super impressive for Defcons as previous club. Who else is 5 million? The likes of Caicedo and Purdue are all other strong defcon bets with Gross. You get penalties, you get set pieces and you do get good fixtures in game weeks three and four against Leeds and Coventry. That is quite appealing for me as someone that is potentially looking to extend this beyond the game week four wildcard into a GW6 wildcard and it is one of the main differences with bench boost one and bench boost two that Brighton have a tougher fixture away to Chelsea in gameweek two. That may make you look elsewhere but then come game week three and four you do want Pascal Gross. So that's one reason why I'm on the bench boost one the 4.5 million defender that I've chosen in the form of a J There are Twitter rumors going around that Vandenberg is out. Annoyingly Brentford have played the majority of their pre season friendlies behind closed doors so we don't have much lineup info on Brentford. However with that should come before deadline. If Vandenberg is indeed out then the share looks great. He averaged over 8 defcons per start last year and at home to spurs could well hit them and that's all I need really. Four points there from him would be perfect. And if you're bench boosting A game week one, the best 4 million defender to go with is in my opinion an Ipswich one and it's either o' Shea or Diop. Diop has the ownership at the minute, but o' Shea was a decent goal threat the last time he was in the prem and averaged some solid defcon numbers a couple of years ago so he gets the nod. All in all like I said, this team for me looks like a good game with one bench boost I take 12 points, that's one clean sheet or attack in return. Hopefully I've backed some defcon guys as well, although of course it's subject to change. There are other 4.5 million defenders you could consider but the rest of it, I think is fairly locked in. So before we go on to bench booth two, we're going to have a quick sponsored message from the video sponsors British Army Recruitment this episode is brought to you by British Army Recruitment. You may know how exciting and challenging an army career could be, but you may also be wondering what's in it for you. You may not know this, but sport is built into your everyday army life. You don't have to squeeze football into your evenings because bases reserve Wednesdays just for sport. You can play rugby, football, cricket or basically any other sport you can think of. You guys are all football fans listening to this. And the army is part FA affiliated with its own teams competing across the country. They'll even fund your qualifications and courses to the highest level. If you want to become a professional coach or referee, I can vouch when I'm out refereeing on the circuit. The best and most efficient referees are usually army affiliated. So on the whole you're not just playing but you're developing. Plus while you're doing all that, you're being paid to train in new skills, gaining civilian qualifications up to degree level away from the sports pitch. The armies is the UK's biggest apprenticeship provider and the number one apprenticeship employer as listed by the Sunday Times. So if that sounds like your kind of team, search army jobs to find out more. That's army jobs. Right then, turning our attentions back to FPL. So I've now brought up a gameweek 2 bench boost on the screen. Game week 2 bench boost is was kind of the initial strategy that was in my head because largely because of Coventry's fixture. So compared to game week one that is an absolutely plum fixture for cheap players in game week two. So Coventry face Hull at home. Both games last season their championship were nil. Nil. We know that Hull's expected data last year was really poor. According to Opta, they should have actually finished near the relegation places in the championship. If you look at their expected goals and expected goals conceded. The caveat to that is of course they are signing lots of players, their owners teasing signings on socials all the time. Their team could look very different come game week one. That's one reason why I'm slightly less certain on this strategy is that we don't really know the the the Hull side the Coventry will be coming up against Other other reasons to maybe look at this strategy largely revolve around Brighton's Conference League affair between so Brighton play in the Conference League, qualify before game week one and after Game week one so they play Thursday, Sunday, Thursday then game week two they're playing against a Scandinavian team so they have to travel to the Arctic Circle on the Thursday before game week one. Does that put you off the likes of gross? For me it might weaken Brighton as a team but looking how thin their squad is, especially with the news that Carlos Believer is injured for the start of the season, I would still be confident on gross minutes. So for those in the podcast the team is the same starting 11 as the Gameweek one team with a bench this time of Rushworth, Ampadu, Hume of Sunderland and Bobby Thomas. So Bobby Thomas is of course a nail pick in this draft. He comes up against Hull at home as discussed in Championship. He scored a few goals, he gets defcons and I think he is better than Vanuk who is the fullback there. Rushworth has got his move back to commentary now so looks like the best four and a half goalkeeper if you were considering a gameweek two bench boost. He also does rotate well with Kinski as you go forward. Trey Hume is in as the 4 1/2 million defender. In truth this position would likely be Joe Rodon if when as and when we get confirmation that he's going to start with be all not playing a pre season and we'll keep watching if Daniel Fark is playing that back three or not. So that that four and a half million defender could really be anyone. Rodon's also good because 4 and 5 are good which so it could help get you to a GameWeek 6 wild card as opposed to a game week four. The 5.5 million option on this bench boost I've gone with Ethan Ampadu. He faces Brentford at home like Calvert Lewin and Rode on Wood in game week two so he's a pretty good bet. He has a good defcon rate. He gets the odd assist, he's nailed for 90 minutes. He's leads his main midfielder so he would be in here. The likes of Brentford you could look at for game week two in the Sangare. Of course we know the hype that's come with him. Caicedo with Brighton at home could be another good bet for the bench boost or you could drop down to a 5 million defender midfielder. Sorry and this applies to game we won as well. Christian Norgaard he has just signed for Everton, had a great DEFCON record when he was at Brentford and also can chip in with an attack in return. That would of course give you 0.5 million to upgrade the starting 11 so you could look at Dewsbury hall instead of Endai. If you prefer that you could go and Boomer to Semenya if that's something you want to do. Or you could upgrade Maguire to a double Arsenal defense or you could upgrade your four and a half million to A to the new Leeds defender that begins with M. That again, I'm sorry I'm not going to try and pronounce on this video. So there's options there if you wish to take Ampadu down. I think I'm more inclined to bring Ampadu down to a Norgaard in bench boost 2 draft as opposed to bench boost 1 because I think Pascal Gross is worth the 0.5 more due to being on penalties. So yeah, I am currently on Bench Boost one. This is a Bench Boost two draft. Of course if Coventry win to nil this bench boost could well outscore them. However it is slightly harder to set up a gameweek two bench boost to move forward with Coventry facing some tricky fixtures. You don't have Brighton Brighton are a team that you want to have for game weeks. Like I said, gaming three and four obviously Game week four is the week that the Manchester Derby happens that Chelsea play Hull. It's going to be popular for wild card, it's going to be popular for a free hit. So having some players that you can bring in and perhaps get through that week without a chip, the likes of Leeds, the likes of Brighton Face have good fixtures in game week four would be really, really good if possible. So yeah, I'll bring up quickly the team. This is my current draft then game week one bench boost as it stands for broken grosses. Yeah O', Shea, it would be great to get 12 points off that bench boost. I think it's possible with Defcon and Gross's attacking threat, but lots to learn in the next couple of weeks.
