News and Notes let's just start with some news and notes, some depth chart stuff. Travis Hunter was listed as a starting wide receiver and a backup cornerback in the initial depth chart, whereas Travis etn, Tank Bigsby, they were listed as co starters. They're playing Carolina this week. J.K. dobbins listed as a starter. Naji Harris practiced in full, so it looks like he's gonna play Chicory Crosky. Merritt listed fourth on the depth chart. Jamie, did I say anything that you think is particularly fantasy relevant right now?

Probably the last thing. You know, just to see how this Washington backfield is going to shake out. I wouldn't read too much into where they're, where they're starting on the depth chart. You know, we'll see how they're used in games, but I don't think you should be playing Jacori Crosby merit this week. I think you wanted to see how it all sort of shakes up the.

[Heath]

The only way I would really overreact to this is it are the commanders going to have four active running backs on game day? Because I think Jeremy McNichols is going to play special teams and Austin Eckler is going to be the starter. So both Chris Rodriguez and JCM going to be active on Sunday.

[Dave]

It's entirely possible if McNichols especially is going to play teams and pitch in a little bit on the running game. It's not crazy for a team to use four running backs on game day.

[Jamie]

The Jaguars are expected to use all four of their running backs on game.

[Dave]

Day, which, which is a change from where Liam Cohen was thinking two weeks ago.

[Jamie]

The Texans are expected to use four running backs on game day unless Woody Marks is inactive as well.

Like there's going to be these veteran guys that just do something of whatever that's going to either freak people out and make them pick them up off waivers. I mean, Ogumawale in the three games that Joe Mixon missed last year was a pretty decent PPR option in two of them because of what he did in the passing game. So there's going to be like these. Like it wouldn't, it wouldn't shock me if Kenneth Gainwell has the best day of The Steelers running back, you know, just because he's going to play a lot. So there's going to be situations like this where some of these veteran guys just are problematic and in some cases force people to spend fab that they shouldn't.

[Adam]

Are you guys trying to take a wait and see approach with Travis Hunter.

[Jamie]

As a starter?

[Adam]

Yeah, as a starter this week, Yeah.

[Jamie]

I think in three receiver leagues you probably throw them in a lineup or two. Especially if you play flex. If you're in a two receiver league, I would absolutely sit him on the bench.

[Adam]

Yeah, that's going to be one of the more, you know, analyzed things of week one. It's going to be a big one. Speaking of the Steelers running backs, Jalen Warren. So this is what Mike Tomlin said about Jalen Warren. Certainly he'll be our feature running back. We're not opposed obviously to utilizing Kenny G and Caleb and I'm sure you'll see them at what time and to what degree will be determined how the game unfolds. Dave, your thoughts on that comment from Mike Tomlin about Jalen Warren at the jets this week?

[Dave]

He saw what we saw in the preseason and he's seen a lot more because Caleb Johnson has been practicing this whole time. I'm sure he's been himself in practice as well. And Warren is just their most consistent lead back and until that changes, he should be expected to be the feature back for him. Hate the matchup against the Jets. Don't really want to start any of these guys against the jets, but it makes it so much easier now for fantasy managers to not even think about Caleb Johnson. If you drafted him, just keep him on the bench until he starts to play a lot more.

[Heath]

I, I tweeted out this morning some rushing lines for RB2s in terms of where their rushing yardage line is and a couple of these guys we'll talk about during the game previews. But Jalen Warren has a higher rushing line than DeAndre Swift. Alvin, he's at 54 and a half yards.

[Jamie]

Is his over under.

[Dave]

My goodness.

[Heath]

Higher than DeAndre Swift, Alvin Kamara, Aaron Jones, Omarion Hampton, Breeze hall and Isaiah Pacheco. And that's just rushing yards.

[Jamie]

I think it's actually going to be decent this year, this week.

[Dave]

I'm sorry, how come?

[Jamie]

Because I think they'll be playing with the lead. I think he's their lead guy and you know, just based on the contract situation, the game game script. So if they're in a competitive game early, he's going to get his opportunities to catch the ball. It's not just going to be Ken's game on every passing down situation. So I think that line is, is. I don't know. He should be ahead of all those guys, but it's not surprising he's in the mix. I don't think the desert on defense is anything to be like running away from.

[Adam]

And Quinn Williams is healthy or hurt?

[Adam]

I think he's healthy. I didn't know that he was hurt. Someone take a look. So he was banged up.

[Dave]

Cameron Hayward, by the way, for the, for the Steelers in that game is expected to play. He's been kind of a holdout. Hold in situation. Carolina listed Hunter Renfro as a starter. Buffalo site. Oh, the Magic 8 Ball is back, baby. Buffalo signed Gabe Davis. You know, we haven't talked about this at all. I kept putting it in the notes and I never got to it because we kept running long. The new kickoff rule. And I'm not going to second guess, I'm going to first guess and I'm going to say I hate the new kickoff rule. The 35 yard line for a touchback is ridiculous. Why don't we just start them at infield goal range when we just start them at the opponent's 35 yard line. I mean, this is just. It's just too drastic. It's too much.

Why do you think they changed it?

They want more returns.

Okay, let's see. What am I going to go with? I do think Carolina, Jacksonville. When you just think about everything that's in play for Jacksonville, Travis Hunter and the running back situation. Can Trevor Lawrence take this, the next step? Can Bryce Young take the next step? I do think that's, that's a very fun fantasy game. So Carolina Jackson will be my answer. Heath, what's the FFT Dynasty schedule looking like in season?

Nobody dominated Rasheed Rice. Rasheed Rice is a free agent in my 12 team league. It is the weirdest thing. There were two teams that had $1 bids at the end of the draft and they didn't even notice Rasheed Rice was available. And they're nominating like, Woody Marks and whatever. And I'm just sitting there. I'm like, why isn't anybody taking she Rice? But.

So you were out of money?

[Adam]

I was out of money, yeah.

Why. Why weren't you the guy who nominated Rasheed Rice?

[Adam]

I was out of money. I got better. Honestly, I got, like, better players with my last several picks.

This is like Dan, in the last, like, four or five mocks where we've done where like, round seven, eight, nine, ten, he's like, oh, my God, I can't believe he took my guy when he had 17 opportunities.

I also love when people who are four picks away, like, someone gets taken and they're like, oh, you took my guy. It's like, dude, it's like, you can't. You're too far away to make that claim. You had to be next. All right, let's fill in the blank. Heath had an interesting FFT draft yesterday. So this fill in the blank is from Heath drafting Brock Bowers at 22 overall and Trey McBride at 27 overall in the same draft. Was blank.

I. You know, it made me remember. There's been so many times that you've insulted me on this show. Like, just. I know we tease you a lot, but when you insult me, it's like you're an idiot or that's the stupidest thing every. Anyone's ever done. And I think the earliest time you ever did that was when I drafted Kelsey and Kittle in the same league. Not quite as high, I don't believe. And you told me that was the stupidest thing you'd ever said. And I'm pretty sure I won that league. But no, I. You know, I was kind of planning on taking McBride at 22. Bowers fell there, and for me, that's a great value. When you look at my week one projections, even amongst the wide receivers and running backs, they were worth those picks in terms of what I project them to score. So hopefully I win tight end and flex every week and can find. I mean, Travis Hunter might be the key to that team.

[Adam]

Just so everyone knows who he passed on when he took McBride, McConkey, any of the quarterbacks, JSN, James, Cook, Amari and Hampton. So it's not like Bucky or not any other Kyron. Was that.

[Jamie]

Not any of the quarterbacks. Joe Burrow was.

[Adam]

Oh, Joe Burrow as QB1 first QB off the board. Yeah, took him. Thomas was picking at the turns and just say just got his guys. But yeah, he. So he. None of the top 12 running backs were available. None of the top eight wide receivers. None of the top 10 wide receivers. So he took Trey McBride as his flex. All right.

Would you recommend that to others, Heath, like people who are drafting today.

[Heath]

Can I let you know in about two months?

Oh, I mean, I. I get that.

I don't think I have any Ashton Genti. Maybe one team with Amar and Hampton. Probably no teams with Travion Henderson and almost no teams with RJ Harvey. So I do have a little bit of FOMO of not having any of the rookie running backs. I got a lot of rookie running backs in the back half of the draft, but not early on.

I have zero jameer Gibbs. That makes me sick. I almost took him. I wanted to take him 101 yesterday just because I didn't have any. But I was sharing a team, so couldn't. All right, Vinnie the vet Travion Henderson becomes RB1 for the Patriots in week blank one.

So this could be the best Eagles defense he has faced.

Are drafted after I, I agree with all those. He's not in my top 12. I love Dak Prescott this year. I don't love him this week. I would guess their implied total of I think it was 20 last time I looked will be one of their lowest this season. I think it's a bad start for the Cowboys.

Okay, so just to throw this out there, I mean, Dave, I'll throw it to you because you've done a lot of the defense analysis and you've published it, but the Eagles had an amazing defense last year. They were second in scoring. They were tough against the run. They were so tough against the pass. They did not give up big plays. But they have lost some significant pieces, including Milton Williams at defensive tackle was on the Patriots. CJ Gardner Johnson at safety, he's on the Texans. Darius Slay with the Steelers now. So they're, they're moving some pieces around in their secondary. They also have, I think when Nicole Dean is out for a while at linebacker. So, you know, are we missing, are we kind of overlooking some vulnerabilities, you think, with the Eagles defense?

[Dave]

Yeah, they're not the same defense. You forgot maybe two of the most important losses. They had Josh Sweat, who's now, I believe in Arizona, and Bryce Huff, who is another pass rusher that they have now. If you're, if you're a believer in the Eagles, you think that they'll just reload with Nolan Smith and, and jlix Hunt. And Hunt was good in the Super Bowl. Moro Jomo is another guy on that D line. I think he's replacing Milton Williams. But they're, they're getting the opportunity. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to be great if, if you buy into starting a matchup because of the players on the field. I think this makes you feel better about Dak Prescott because the pass rush won't be quite as Suffocating and you know, kind of what the deal is with big fan Joe defenses anyway. They play a lot of zone. They only rush four guys. They don't blitz very much and I don't think they're going to be inclined to blitz very much because of the Cowboys offensive line in the state that it's in. They might begin the game thinking they can get to Dak with only four guys. I think the reason why you consider Dak is because a we we. There's no reason to believe in the run game for Dallas. We just got done talking about the offensive line, the interior, the up the middle of that defense for. For Philadelphia is still really good. I mean Carter and Davis there are D tackle. I mean that's really where a lot of their pass rush will get generated from anyway. But against the run that's really good. And so I think Dax gonna have to throw a lot and yeah, Quinion Mitchell at one corner is huge there. There are other cornerbacks. I'm definitely not sold on Kelly Ringo and I. I don't know if I'm ready to give all the credit in the world to Cooper De Jean if he's going to play nickel. So I, I just think that there's going to be opportunities on top of opportunities for Dak to throw a lot and fall into good production. Can you get to 25 fantasy points? That worries me but getting 20 or more, I think it can happen.

[Adam]

Okay, would you guys start Javante Williams or like a Jordan, Mason, Zach, Charbonnet, Braylon, Allen guy?

[Jamie]

I would start Devonte over those guys for this week.

[Heath]

Okay, but. And Jerome Ford ahead of Javante by a mile.

Yeah, I'd start both Dylan Sampson and Jerome Ford over to.

I think if there's any silver line at Javante, it's going to be in full PPR because he can still catch the ball out of the backfield.

The paid The Eagles played 21 games last year, including the playoffs, obviously. And only four times did multiple wide receivers score 14 or more PPR fantasy points in the same game. 14 or more. They're usually about 25 to 30 wide receivers who average 14 PPR fantasy points per game. So it's a solid game. It only happened four times. One of those was week 18 when they were sitting there starters against the Giants. So when they were playing their guys happened only three times in 20 games. So no one's sitting CD Lamb but starters sit George Pickens.

[Jamie]

How many of those games did they play two receivers at this caliber?

[Adam]

That's a good question.

Two against Washington? No. One against the Giants?

No, the Rams did it once, so that was one. I think Cooper cup had a very late touchdown to save his bacon. Played the packers, they played the Saints, they played the Bucks. And Chris Godwin fell just short of that. He had 12. A 12.9 PPR fantasy points. Evan had his. Evans had a big game. T. Higgins might have missed that game actually. So. Yeah, probably not. Not much. Rarely, to answer your question. So starters. Starters at Pickens. I'm sorry, Starters at Pickens.

I, as a rule, prefer the Thursday, Sunday, Monday schedule. There's a. One of the high school football games of the year. It's happening about four miles from my house on Friday night. Not gonna go watch that. I'm gonna watch the Chiefs instead. But yeah, I mean, I. I like the high school football on Friday, college on Saturday, NFL on Thursday. Sunday, Monday.

[Adam]

I don't really, you know, with our job, we don't really get to sit down and watch the game with friends very often. Right. Especially can't do it on Sunday. So. Fry. The Friday game is the best opportunity for that. Not to say that I'm going to do that. I don't really have that lined up, but I might try.

Yeah. I generally structure my week when I think everybody knows from how many times they see our face and hear our voices throughout other days of the week to where that Friday night, Saturday morning stretch is kind of the time that you say, hey, I've got a family.

Yes, exactly. This is the only chance I was gonna get this game. Actually, I mentioned this last Yesterday. When these two teams played last year, neither quarterback scored 17 fantasy points in either game. Neither team scored 20 points. This was fantasy poison. The over unders 45 and a half. So hopefully a little bit more than, you know, 36, 37 points like we got last year. But, Dave, like, who do you like in this Game.

[Dave]

The only must start is. Well, I mean, Mahomes is a must start. Everybody who drafted him is going to use him. But lad McConkey is a must start. And you're still gonna go with Xavier Worthy. Travis Kelsey, Kelsey's okay. Even. Especially because Rashid Rice isn't in. I, I like Hampton as a low end number two running back. I think he's like 20th for me. Just expecting Naji to get eased in a little bit just because he didn't have a regular training camp. And Hampton has and he should be in position to get a lot of work and he could certainly score. Pacheco's in the flex range, especially in half and non ppr. And then everybody that's kind of on that periphery is going to be a sit. And I don't. What do you do if you drafted the Chiefs dst? Do you cut them immediately and find another dst? Maybe, but you could start them if you're. If you don't feel like doing that.

[Heath]

I, I'm a. And I've been a little low on Hampton throughout the whole process, I think. So it's probably not surprising. I'm a little low on Hampton in week one. I'm not going to do this for every game, but I do think the, the lines are pretty interesting on this one. Isaiah and Pacheco. Isaiah Pacheco and Omarion Hampton have the same over under on rush attempts.

[Adam]

Eleven.

[Heath]

Eleven and a half.

[Adam]

Okay.

[Heath]

Yeah. Pacheco is at 47 and a half rushing yards. Hampton's at 46 and a half rushing yards and they're both at one and a half receptions.

[Jamie]

Wow.

[Dave]

I like these numbers for Hampton.

[Adam]

I like it for Pacheco. But. Okay, so let's talk about the Chiefs matchup here. The, the, the matchup for Hampton and Najee Harris. For the first more than half the season, the Chiefs had the best run defense in football. And like, it just fell apart. I mean, they were so good. They were a sit, you know, basically for, for most running backs and then it fell apart a little bit. In their last nine games, running backs averaged 4.4 yards per carry in. In the eight games leading up to the super bowl, running backs averaged 4.7. So that's awful. And then they somehow did just an amazing job against Saquon Barkley and only Saquon Barkley in that game. But this, you know, I don't know what to make of it. This should, I think, should be a very good run defense and a tough matchup. On the other hand, I don't think the Chargers are a very tough matchup on paper. Dave, you can tell me if I'm wrong. They lost.

[Dave]

No, I agree with you. They get by with scheme.

[Adam]

Yeah.

[Dave]

And they're usually his own scheme.

[Adam]

Yeah, I'm sorry. They had this, this defense that looked really good last year, but everybody pointed out they played such an easy schedule. Then they started playing tough teams in the second half of the year and they got very exposed. Except not by the Chiefs though, because the Chiefs weren't that good of an offense. So. Yeah, I don't know. With all the things I said, you know, like how, how are we approaching the Chiefs? Are they going to put up. Are they going to put up a good number here? Are we excited about them? Dave kind of gave his take. Heath, how about you?

[Heath]

You start Mahomes, you start Worthy, you start Kelsey, and everything else is a total crapshoot. I think Pacheco is probably going to be a starter for most people. I. He's a flex for me. I would not be surprised if another Chief's pass catcher catches a touchdown. I would not venture a guess as to which pass catcher that's going to be. This will be. Like I. I said, I thought this was one of the more interesting ones in terms of finding things out. Just because it sounds like Naji is a full go now. He's not been through as much practice, so he's not going necessary. But seeing the split between Hampton and Naji or if a third back works in is going to be really interesting Week one. And does Hampton just make it clear that he's so much better than those guys that it shouldn't happen anymore? Seeing how many targets Keenan Allen siphons off in that offense, I'm expecting it to be around seven a game. Matters for understanding this offense.

[Adam]

Wait a second. You think Keenan Allen's getting seven targets a game?

[Heath]

Yes.

[Adam]

Wow. Okay.

[Dave]

But I don't think that'll happen in games that they're playing with a lead. But in general, if it's a high scoring game or if the Chargers are trailing. Yeah, I don't think that that's out of pocket. I want to take something back. I said, Adam, you should drop the Chiefs DST if you drafted them because they've got the Chargers this week. It's an okay matchup. It's not great after that, it's Philadelphia, then the Giants in week three, Baltimore in week four. So maybe you start them once over the first four weeks. You could probably find better.

[Adam]

I mean, I think you could start them twice. In the first three weeks. You can start them in this matchup and you can start them certainly against the Giants. Right. I mean, like, they're not.

[Dave]

You could. I feel like there's better options.

[Heath]

Their, their pass rush could give the Chargers a lot of trouble.

[Adam]

So it's tough because I think, I think Pacheco's got a good match up here. I don't know that for sure though. You know, I wish I had a little bit more conviction.

I think the wild card is that each team has to fly 12 hours to Brazil and then play in Brazil and it's the first game of the year and I just, I don't think we should have the same type of expectations for them as we would for any team playing in week four or five and certainly any other team that's playing without the crazy travel in week one.

[Heath]

I. I will say, like just in Pollards to help you make that decision. Adam, like, he averaged 24 touches a game without Ty J. Spears last year. And his. If you care at all about where the lines are, he's. The betting lines are much, much higher. Like 30% higher for Tony Pollard than Isaiah Pacheco in terms of yardage and touches.

[Adam]

I'm just so worried about Cam Ward in his first start of his career going against the arguably the best defense in football on the road. It could be a bloodbath. And that was going to take a lot of touches away from. From Pollard. But we'll talk about that tomorrow. Here's some questions for this game. Let's see, moving down here. Chiefs DST or Cardinals? So Brown is, is an interesting sleeper. I just don't know how big of a role he'll have. Like he's one of those ancillary pieces who could end up. He could end up scoring like a 30 yard touchdown and doing nothing else. I think Rashard Smith is interesting too. Just as a pass catcher out of the backfield. He can make some sneaky plays for the Chiefs. I'm rostering him in a couple of leagues and if he does absolutely nothing, he's an easy cut before week two. If he does something, then maybe he turns into a decent player down the line.

[Heath]

Keenan Allen is my third favorite wide receiver in the game by a pretty good margin and my third, my favorite flex that we didn't talk about by a pretty good margin.

[Dave]

Agreed. Listen, if you think the other guys are mildly intriguing.

Seven targets a game, which he said, that's huge. He's 59 rostered. He should be 100 roster or close to it if he's going to get seven targets a game. Yeah, but it was your fourth running back. And I was on the phone with Dustin who purchased a spot in the league to co manage with me for St. Jude. Thank you, Dustin. And. And we're like, oh man, we're going to get Pacheco in round six. This is working out so well. Jamie's definitely not going to take him. He already has three running backs and Jamie took him as his fourth running back in six rounds. Can't even start him. And it was really pretty messed up. Made a trade off with the draft was over.

I mean, I don't particularly mind my receiving core, so it's not what I would hope for, but I don't mind it. I mean, I have two of my top 24 guys in Drake, London and Garrett Wilson. And I have, you know, the ability to find a third guy. I think Pittman was a little underrated once Daniel Jones named starter, he was getting overdrafted in cbs, but I think it's underrated based on our rankings. I like Demaro Douglas. I think he'll work in ppr. I think we'll get some good moments, obviously of Keon Coleman, you know, so that's a third receiver that has plenty of upside. So I don't mind it at all.

[Adam]
