And my question is how much would the pot have to be at for you to consider splitting it?

So there's different kinds of chops too. So there's the full chop that we were discussing, which is when someone proposes, okay, first and second, take the difference. You each get equal amount. Or there's sometimes where people propose like a partial chop. Like, well, well, let's say it's like one K in the pot. We'll do 600 to the winner, 400 a second instead of 8 and 2 or 7 and 3. So you, so you're still playing for something. I, Jamie and I are of the, of the belief that you just shouldn't be chopping at all. But as Jamie said, Like we don't know like if you need the money or if you're, if somebody wants the money more than the other person, sometimes it doesn't really matter in the end. It is also always about the title. Like you want to be able to say you won that league and you want to have that year when you won that league.

[Adam]

So let's say, like, let's say. And I don't. The most money I play in any league is a hundred dollars. I'm not a high stake and that was too much. I didn't want to play for that much but got bullied into it. Let's say the pot was like $10,000.

[Dan]

Sure.

[Adam]

And winner gets eight, loser gets two and the other person comes up to you, he's like, let's just split it five each. Would you do that?

[Dan]

I would personally never. Because you want to have something to play.

[Adam]

I would do that in a second.

[Jamie]

I think, I think the, the 6040 is, is a fair way to do it. So the, the winner still gets some sort of reward. The second place doesn't get, gets a little bit more obviously if they, if they win. But if you're, if you're gonna do it, I think you do it that way because you still want to be. I want, I want to be. If I win, I want to be rewarded a little bit more than right, right than the second place team. So I don't have a problem so much as, as if it's 60, 40, 50. 50 though bothers me.

[Adam]

Okay, so you only have two options. You're a 50% favorite. It's a total toss up. The week has not begun yet. It's a $10,000 pot. It's either you're going to do the 8 and 2 or you can split it 50, 50. What are you going to do?

[Dan]

8 and 2.

[Jamie]

I'll take the 5K. I'll take the 5K right now.

I had, I had a buddy text me and they, they decided to chop it before the, the game started on Wednesday and they were favored and they just, you know, he said, my friend, he shares a team with somebody else, so I don't know how much that factor into it. But he said he was worried about their face of my homes and they had Lamar and they made a bad choice to start Pickens over. They started Pickens prior to JSN and McLaurin playing and they have Jamar Chase. So I guess it probably didn't work out as badly as they. Well, I guess it might because they they chose Pickens and JSN set McLaren. But in any event, they were. They were nervous, and so that's why they went that route.

[Adam]

They'd be a lot more nervous now if they didn't go that route after starting.

[Dan]

I think it would, like, if I knew the person and it was a friend and he really wanted to chop it, I think I'd be more willing to do it, you know, just because, like, I don't care that much ultimately about it.

[Adam]

You would take the $5,000. So who are you?

[Dan]

No, I would not. No, I would not. You're the guy at the poker tournamen starts asking for the chop when it's down to like 13 people. You guys want a 13 weight chop this thing like, you know, in a big poker tournament? No, you got to play it out like, it's the fun of it. It's having some. Like, in the end, it doesn't really matter because for most leagues that I'm in, I'm looking to win the title. So I can say I won in 2024. Like, I remember when I won and you never won. Like, that's still what I'm playing for. But you also want to have something on the line in the matchup. Otherwise, if it kind of becomes a little bit different.

I like the Dobbins matchup a lot, but I don't trust the role right away. And Ford can explode on any play. Had a pretty good role A lot of targets last week in catches. I started with a new company this past year and they had a long running 12 team fantasy league that needed a spot filled due to someone leaving. They asked if I was interested and I said sure. And I played coy about my fantasy experience, not letting them know I've been playing for close to 20 years now. After a few weeks into the season, my fantasy past came out and it seemed everyone was out to take me down. Haters. There were four different trades that were just absolutely horrible made by teams playing against me for that week. I called out these bad trades when they each went down and they said fantasy karma. And I said fantasy karma will come back to get them. Needless to say, I made it to the playoffs in the first round. I took down one of the teams that made a trade. In the semis. I took down another. And now in the championship, I'm take I'm facing another team that made one of those trades. If I prevail this weekend, maybe fantasy karma is a thing. Good luck. We'll find out hopefully. I mean, we got to see what happens right before kickoff because it could go any direction depending on, you know, the weather. It's like, Daniels doesn't scare me because he's gonna run, you know, So I, that's, that's a easy one. I'm still starting him and the receivers. I mean, look, if you have, don't have a lot of faith in the quarterback, then I think you probably have to downgrade the receivers a little bit. So if you're worried about Rogers, who's clearly played in a lot of bad weather in his career in Green Bay, but is older and, you know, not as effective as he has been, then, you know, you downgrade Adams for somebody else if you have somebody else, you know, so it all comes down to what your team looks like, who you have. I don't know. I mean, I. We've seen some, some historic games in bad weather. We've seen some awful games this year in bad weather. You know, the 49ers.

My brother, however, has never played fantasy football prior to this season and when mentioning it to him in the past, he has always blown it off and acted like it was stupid. My brother named his team Bird teams and it only took two rounds through the draft for me to realize what he was doing. He was only drafting teams, only drafting players from Bird teams. I and everyone else in the league assumed this team would finish last and maybe win a few games. Instead he went 7 7, made the playoffs and now he's in the fantasy championship. He's been riding Ken Walker and usually Tyler Algier as his running backs. His receivers are A.J. brown, JSN, D.K. metcalf, Zay Flowers, Darnell Mooney. He has Lamar and Hertz. He's been streaming tight ends. My question is, should I be happy for my brother and his success this year or upset for him basically making a mockery of fantasy football by taking Bird teams all the way to the championship.

But I, I, I. Part of the reason why I do the father son leagues is because I want to get more people playing fantasy football. Like you want to get people hooked on it any, any way possible.

I think it's also a good, like a good, good note for fantasy football because I actually believe it's like, think about it like this. Like dfs. Fantasy dfs. An issue with fantasy DFS is that there's a really massive barrier for entry. In my opinion, at least the really good DFS players seem to win a lot, and it's really hard for people who don't have the time and the resources to win in that. But fantasy football is its own breed. Like the what the season long that we, that we play and that we preach. Its own breed. Like, it's a good sign. This is a good example of you can come in without experience and try an interesting strategy, I guess you can call it that, and win. And it's less of a barrier for entry, which I think is more fun because then it's more inclusive and it should, like, like you said, Jamie, be able to spread more freely if it's not the same winner every year.

So he released the text change with that manager where the manager stated that he was trading Lamar to a team that he, quote, needed to win that week so that he could get into the playoffs. The manager who sent the screenshots knew about this the entire time and was okay with it until Lamar Jackson puts up 33 points against him in the finals. Now he is demanding the entire season not count and he wants his money back. Two questions. Is it okay to make trades that benefit other teams to help you out?
