You all know I've been running an Airbnb for a while now, and it's been a great way to make use of my extra space, especially when I'm traveling. And I've got some great trips coming up. First, I'm heading to Pinehurst, North Carolina for an annual golf trip with the crew. Always a blast. Then I'm swinging down to my old stomping grounds in Gainesville, Florida to catch a Gators game and slide into my favorite Mexican spot, La Tienda, for some steak tacos. What I love is that with the Airbnb co host network, I don't have to think twice about what's happening back home. I found a local pro who handles everything, creating the listing, managing bookings, messaging guests, even being there in person. If anything comes up, I get to enjoy the trip, be in the moment and know everything's running smoothly. So whether you already host like I do or you've got a space just sitting empty while you're away, this is a total game changer. Find a co host@airbnb.com host as a.

This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports.
Dan
What a play. Can you believe this?
Dave
No, I can't.
Heath
It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
Dan
Off to the races.
Dave
And he stays on his feet.
Jamie
This is going to go the distance.
Dave
Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie and Heath. Welcome everybody to Fantasy Football today presented by BetMGM, the sportsbook. Born in Vegas, it's mailbag time. And it's August. It's football season, friends. Pretty frenzied trade deadline if you're a baseball fan. Welcome everybody. We got. We got four of us on the show today. I'm Adam. Hey, Dan.
Dan
What's going on, guys? I'm joined today by Jamie Eisenberg out of the Witness Protection program over there.
Jamie
I don't know if you could see.
Dan
Him, but my man is doing. You know, I came into today's episode wondering if there was anything I could possibly do to upstage Heath yesterday and his epic. Know what you want to call what he did yesterday? And I'm just like, no matter what I do, I probably can't make it worse than that, so.
Heath
Oh, don't be so sure.
Dan
Just going in with that mindset.
Dave
Yeah. For those of you who don't know, Heath accidentally ended our live stream yesterday. In fact, I can play the audio if you'd like. So this is, this is Heath talking about. This is us getting into tight ends and Heath hitting the wrong button and ending the video stream. The audio kept going, but this is what it sounded like.
Heath
He's a red zone weapon two years ago.
Dave
What happened? Oh, no.
Jamie
Oh, no.
Heath
What happened?
Dave
I'm so sorry.
Jamie
Take away my privileges.
Dave
Oh, no. And now let's compare that to this. Jamie.
Jamie
Oh, no. Who did it better?
Dan
Great, great power comes great responsibility. And he's.
Dave
Yeah, he screwed that up. Hey, listen, quick. And we're going to get into the show. We're going to get into your questions. It's a mailbag. Today we got the Terry McLaurin news. We got other news and notes. We'll get some quick hall of Fame game thoughts. But we. If you go to our website, our Draftathon website, tinyurl.com 2025fft you're going to see $84763.55 already raised for St. Jude on August 1st. But guess what? There's a $20,000 donation that hasn't been accounted for yet. We have hit the century mark. We are already over $100,000. This is incredible, incredible stuff. And we want to thank who if you go to Thomas, can you scroll down to the leaderboard, the top donors, because we got a $12,000 donation for from Todd Rhones and he is coming on the show later today to talk about his foundation and talk a little fantasy football. He shares a team with Jamie in the podcast league every day. So if you want to be part every year. So if you want to be part of our our drive to raise more money for St. Jude, go to tinyurl.com 2025fft Join the FFT Open. Submit a question for a mailbag, join a mock draft. And starting next week, there's going to be a lot more stuff to bid on. The the tennis match stuff, the podcast leagues spots in a different FFT league. We'll tell you all about that next week. All right, onto the show. Terry McLaren has requested a trade. Dave, all right, what do you think about this for him and for Jaden Daniels?
Heath
I think if he leaves Washington, it's going to be bad news for both of them. Certainly Daniels, because he won't have his number one weapon from last year, McLaurin, it's obviously going to be contingent on where he goes. But to me, the only team that would really work for McLaurin would be a team whose quarterback is on a rookie deal, a team that desperately needs a field stretcher as the number one guy. A team that's contending for the playoffs now, a team that's got salary cap space next year. You know, it sounds a lot like the Commanders are the best possible team for McLaurin to be on and they should. I don't know why they're dragging their feet on this. Maybe because they don't have to pay him and they're, they're going to play chicken with them, but I wouldn't do this. My biggest fear is that McLaurin does extend this holdout as close to the regular season as possible and he falls victim to a sluggish start, maybe an injury. All these other things that we've seen from other players who hold out in the past and it's just, it's going to make him more of a second half player than a full season player. I think you've got to start to think about downgrading Terry McLaurin if you haven't already.
Dave
Is anybody going to downgrade Jaden Daniels?
Jamie
If he loses McLaurin, he'll fall behind Burrow and hurts for me, you know, so I think those five guys are so close to begin with, you know, in, in a sliding scale. But in terms of like where their draft capital is, what their upside is, I mean, we've seen it for all five of the, the top five quarterbacks. Like they could each be QB1 depending on how things break one way or another. And so If Daniels loses McLaren, who was his touchdown leader last year, then that's just a slight ding for him. Who he. Listen, he was already behind Burrow last year in terms of points per game. I know he finished whatever stretch. You want to look at it, you know, maybe at a little bit better clip than, than Burrow. And this is obviously 6 points, 4 points for passing touchdowns is different. Daniels is not moving in that regard because of his rushing total. So it's gonna, you know, again, it's It's a slight nitpick and, and we've seen, you know, these guys like Keith.
Dave
Has Daniels number one.
Jamie
So it's just a matter, I think.
Dave
You cut out a little bit. Jamie's on location right now. He's doing this in a hotel room, which we appreciate. What'd you say? Heath has him number one. You can't imagine, I can't imagine he.
Jamie
Would keep number one if he loses McLaren, you know, so when you look at Jackson, you look at Allen and the upside at least of those two guys, I think in the case of, of McLaurin. Look, I've already moved down. I, I told you this when I did this, when I wrote the story about this, the, the recent history and forget about previous history because it's much different when these guys were missing games. But the hold ins, the holdouts of the last couple of years, all but one of them have been better than. Or I'm sorry have been good, worse coming off the previous year. The other ones have all had some slight decline in production and from a Corinne he could, he, he's all. I don't want to say he's terrifying but his numbers last year, catches, yards, targets almost exactly the same as the previous four years.
Dan
Right.
Jamie
Spiking touchdowns like he screams regression.
Dan
Yeah.
Jamie
Forget about. Even if he was, you know, everything perfectly fine, contract, whatever, like. So now it's a question of how far does he fall. I don't know if he's gonna fall out of the top 30 for me, but he's going to fall out of the top 24 after I adjust my rank.
Dan
He said my one take on this is if he does get traded, keep an eye on Luke McCaffrey because Luke McCaffrey last year, people don't know it, it went under the radar. He had the fourth best separation score of all wide receivers in the NFL. That list of that 10, the 10 people he's among is all elite receivers. The Justin Jefferson's, the players that we're drafting in rounds one and two also in addition to that, he was really good on tape in college and he's a player I think could be really good if he gets that opportunity.
Jamie
So you.
Dan
He's just somebody who will be an immediate last round target for me if they trade McLaren.
Heath
How much have you watched of McCaffrey, Dan?
Dan
I watched a little bit last year but I mean I watched a ton of his tape at college but I watched a little bit.
Heath
So I guess my question is how much of a field stretcher is he? Because I know that he wasn't quite used that way very much as a rookie. He wasn't used a lot as a rookie. But that's. See that's the element of the passing game that I'd be worried about. The most in Washington, right, is who's running the routes, 15 plus yards downfield.
Dan
I don't think that will be McCaffrey. That's the question then, because who on that roster will be that guy with Diami Brown also gone?
Dave
All right. Yeah. So who you. So does Debo move up? Does Zach Ertz move up? You know, what's the fantasy implications here? I guess in the mid rounds, Jamie.
Jamie
They will obviously move up if there's a trade. You know, I think the one thing to keep in mind is these guys don't typically get traded, you know, so usually this gets worked out in some capacity. Whether it's they're giving him some monetary, you know, incentive to just play out the season and finish out his deal or they come to some resolution. Look, he's asking for DK Metcalf money. You know, he's asking for Garrett Wilson money. You know, two guys that signed Reese extensions. Will the Patriots, for example, probably the one team that makes the most sense to go get Terry McLaren offer a huge, you know, trade compensation to go make this happen. And the Commanders say yes, they need. Look, this is a team that has super bowl aspirations. After the year that they had last year, they don't make it there. And if McLaren is not part of this unless they go get another receiver, you know, so you could say maybe the Dolphins and, and do they work out some sort of Tyreek Hill, Terry McLaren Trade. We don't see those type of deals. You know, Washington may have been the last one that did it with Champ Bailey and Clinton Portis. You know, like that's how far back you go where you see superstar for superstar type of player. So I'd be shocked if, if he's not on the team. So I'm not going to expect a difference for the guys that are there. It's a matter of how long does this play out, you know, does he now go back from hold in to hold out? Probably not because of the fine. So this could be a Brandon IUK situation, you know, an 11th hour contract extension to some capacity. I'd be very shocked if he's not playing for the Commanders this year. So in terms of Debo and Ertz, I'm not adjusting anything right now.
Dave
Okay. Jalen Lane is of course the rookie to keep an eye on there for Washington as well, and we'll see how this plays out. Hopefully it gets resolved sooner rather than later. Juwan Jennings had a setback with his calf injury. So is anybody willing to spend a pick in the first nine rounds on Juwan Jennings at this point?
Jamie
No.
Heath
Nine rounds? I might say yes, because that's a dip. Like, if you're getting them in round nine, it's a discount.
Dan
But I.
Heath
Obviously, I've got heebie jeebies because the last time we heard about a 49ers player with a calf injury, it was a total nightmare. But we were taking that guy in round one, and we were taking Juwan Jennings in, like, that 7, 8 range. So if we're talking 9, maybe 9, 10, I. I might be interested in. In putting him on my bench, because when he does play, he's got a shot to give you 13 PPR points per game. He had 14 PPR points per game last year. Just came inconsistently.
Dave
All right, if you're drafting right now, would you rather have Ricky Pearsall or Romo Dunze?
Jamie
Dunes.
Heath
I've got Pierce. All two spots ahead overall.
Dan
Dunes.
Dave
Okay. Baker Mayfield has a contusion on his throwing hand. He's day to day. Just. I need a quick hot take from. From Dan Schneier here. Dave said buy the dip. What's your favorite dip?
Dan
I can tell you what my least favorite dip is.
Dave
That's fine. That works.
Dan
That's where the hotter take comes from. One of the most overrated things in life is buffalo chicken dip, and that comes from somebody who loves the buffalo flavor. But what I don't love about the buffalo flavor is infusing it with a gallon of cream cheese disgusting mix. That was never necessary. If you want to make a chick buff chicken dip, leave the cream cheese out. Find an alternative. Don't dump in that gook. And then we got.
Jamie
Then we're talking.
Dan
So abbreviate everything.
Dave
A buff chicken dip.
Dan
Everybody calls it buff chicken dip.
Dave
Oh, yeah, of course.
Dan
No one. No one spells that buffalo chicken dip. Everybody knows it's buff chicken dip. But the best dip. The best dip. Just a straight up guac. Like a good homemade guac.
Dave
Okay. All right. I like it. Listen, if you haven't signed up for BetMGM yet, use the bonus code fantasy you're gonna get up to. This is a great offer. A fifteen hundred dollar. Up to a fifteen hundred dollar first bet offer on your first wager with BetMGM. So here's how it works. Just download the BetMGM app and sign up using the bonus code Fantasy. Deposit at least $10 and place your first wager on any game and you'll receive up to fifteen hundred dollars in bonus bets. If your bet loses, just make sure that you use the bonus Code Fantasy when you sign up. All right, let's, let's run through some more news items here. You know about Isaiah likely he might be able to come back for week one. We talked about that yesterday. Jamie mentioned Dalton Kincaid's knee issues. Well, he is back practicing in full, thankfully. There was a report from Colton Pouncey of the Athletic that said Jameer Gibbs is usually the first running back on the field with this. I think I already said this, but I'll say it again. Jameer Gibbs is usually the first running back on the field with the starters, whereas that used to be David Montgomery. Malik Neighbors is back. Justin Jefferson should be ready for week one. He's got the hamstring issue. And then, you know Jamie, this is something that you brought up, I think on the Tuesday night stream. Kevin Seifert of espn, we didn't get into this on the podcast. He expects a mo much closer running back split in Minnesota than what we usually see. He didn't necessarily, necessarily say it'd be 5050 but Stefanski or sorry O' Connell not a not really a big split guy but we might have that this year.
Jamie
Jamie in Minnesota and Aaron Jones was was asked about this in the story and he said, you know, at this point I'm about wins and chasing rings. I'm not going to be selfish in terms of stats. I'm paraphrasing but that's basically he definitely the last part. I'm not going to be selfish in terms of stats. So and he and, and the story is great. He talks about how when he was in a committee how it makes the other guy better because you're rooting for each other and you know, pumping each other up, all those things. So it's obviously something that's being discussed pretty heavily in Minnesota that they're writing about it and and the guys are talking about it. I think the thing about I've I've kind of been in this camp for a while. Once I heard what Kevin o' Connell said, free agency before they brought back Aaron Jones. Like he wants him to be in a committee because he felt like they overused him last year. So Jones is more of a flex for me and Mason's not that far behind because Jones gonna be 31 at the end of this year. He's 30 going into the season. Played through three pretty tough injuries last year. Got lucky in terms of when the buy weeks were and the. The Europe break that they had. So for me, it's. If I get Jones at the right price, which is after round six, I'll buy into it. But I'm looking for Mason as early as round eight. Like, he's one of my favorite, like number two on his own team, running backs, aside from, let's say, the lion situation. But I. I'm very much in on Jordan Mason. One of my favorite guys. Draft.
Heath
We're getting closer to the premonition I had, which is what, Round seven for Jordan Mason.
Dan
Oh, yeah.
Heath
If things broke right.
Dan
Round seven for podcast has been high on Mason for, I feel like months now. Over a year ahead of the curve on it. Hopefully. At least we'll see if it plays out that way. I've been reading great things just about Mason as well from camp, just let alone, let alone the role. Just about how he's looked.
Dave
Okay.
Dan
Younger player, good red zone option.
Dave
Michael Pittman has a groin issue. Hollywood Brown appears to be fine.
Dan
Let's see Pitman.
Dave
Yeah, I do mean that. Yes. Mac Hollins is off the PUP list for New England. We'll see if he starts running with the ones he did immediately. Yeah, that's what I thought. For K. Shawn Booty, right. Calvin Ridley hurt his leg. Xavier Worthy's in the concussion protocol.
Jamie
Hunter really was just a cramp, according to reports.
Dave
Okay, good. Hunter Renfro is clearly outplayed. Jalen Coker, according to the Charlotte observers. Mike K. No.
Jamie
Also got hurt, though.
Dave
Oh, great. Yes. Well, we don't want that. Still no timetable for Najee Harris at the last we heard, anyway. Unless there's something else there.
Heath
Dallas spotted at practice wearing a hoodie and sunglasses.
Dave
Okay.
Heath
So he does not want anybody to see this eye. And he wasn't obviously practicing. He was just standing there.
Jamie
I think. I think part of that, though, Dave, from what I saw from the. The Twitter ex doctors, was a lot of the reason why he may not be practicing in the sunglasses is because the light is bad for what he's dealing with.
Heath
Yeah.
Dave
Okay. All right, well, we won't speculate. We won't speculate. But yeah, we have to keep an eye on the Cowboys offensive line because now Tyler Smith, another guy on the left side of that line, he has knee soreness. So this is three injuries on the line, two to starters. And by the way, this offensive line did not grade out all that well last year, is not ranked high in the preseason list of people who are prognosticating offensive lines. And Dallas last year, just in the Dak Prescott games, they had one of their lowest scoring, you know, averages or in terms of where they ranked in the Dak Prescott era. So they actually were not that great of an offense last year, which is why I wanted them to hire someone outside of house, you know, instead of just promoting from within. They didn't, but they didn't have a great offense last year. Their offensive line is no longer elite. It's something where I have to think about and we're going to have to talk about going forward now. They have three injuries they're dealing with on the offensive line. Thankfully, it's August 1st and there's time for these guys to heal. And I'm not going to remember what.
Heath
The splits were like for Dak Prescott when he didn't have Tyron Smith.
Dave
Yes, but he bucked that trend in I think the last, the most.
Jamie
2023. Yeah.
Dave
Okay. 2023, because I don't think Tyron was there or he got hurt for most of that year. I don't remember.
Jamie
Okay.
Dave
All right. I think we got to keep an eye on Quinshon Judkins because I think I've said this the other day, but I keep forgetting if I just ran through it or not during the quarterback preview. But Cleveland's owner Jimmy Haslam is cautiously optimistic about rookie running back Quinshon Judkins playing this season. Who's the first Cleveland running back you're drafting, Dave?
Heath
I believe I still have Judkins ranked over Ford, but all of them are after 100th overall.
Dave
Okay.
Dan
These are all bad breaks for me. Players just was never targeting those guys and I wasn't going to roster any of them and now they just fall on ADP.
Heath
They're all after 120th for me.
Dan
Yeah. Now it's like not even worth. You don't get anything for skipping them.
Dave
All right, we're going to take a break. Come back with your emails and your draft a thon questions and we're going to hear from Todd Rhodes very soon. We'll be right back on Fantasy football today.
Dan

Dave
Hey, just without any analysis, I guess so we can get to the emails. Are there any players that you wanted to just mention as having good camps? The three that I've been seeing a lot about, I guess. Anthony Richardson seems to be having a good camp. Trevor Lawrence having a good camp. And Jecore Krosky Merritt. This is one that we definitely have to take seriously. Rookie running back for the commanders. Dan, Anything that you want to just mention guys that are having good camps?
Dan
Yeah, I think from everything I've seen George Pickens having a really good start to his to his career with the Cowboys. I'm so excited about that. Just watching a lot of Pickens tape last year, he's much better receiver than people realize. I'll be drafting a lot of him based on where his ADP is. I really high expectations for him. Neighbors and other players spent phenomenal all of camp. No surprise there. But he's drawing like 50% of the targets from Russell. I mean, we have to really consider what this could look like with neighbors. It could be 170, 175 target season. So just a couple more, more, more.
Dave
Maybe if they're losing, they will be spoiler alert. They will be. Okay. I don't know if there's any other names you guys want to throw out there.
Jamie
One and then one injury. Baker Mayfield apparently has a hand contusion.
Dave
I think I. I said that.
Jamie
Oh, I'm sorry. Wow.
Dan
Adam, what was that?
Dave
Get back into witness protection.
Dan
Today. I think he's thinking too much ahead to the tennis match.
Jamie
Tank Bigsby's having a good camp.
Dave
Okay.
Heath
Yep. Yeah, I know. The highlights Show Marvin Harrison Jr. Is looking good. I don't know if I'm ready to buy into that. I saw Waddle practice in person. I thought he looked really good. Every time I read a report on the Bucks, a Mecca Buka's name is in there as a guy who looks beyond a rookie and super polished. Always where he needs to be, feels like he's going to be a factor. So three receivers that have had a.
Jamie
Good camp right there and then throw up when you hear this one. But Kyle Pitts is having a good camp.
Dan
Oh my God, is he? I haven't even seen that.
Dave
And you know, there was that report that he was working out with the wide receivers. But actually one of the, maybe one of the problems for Pitts in his career is that he's been lined up at wide receiver too much and not taking advantage of, you know, facing linebackers. So they actually, last year they did a couple of things that should have helped him. They reduced his A dot. They lined him out wide less. So they lined him more, you know, in line or, you know, in the slot more, get more. You know, that should have made things easier for him. And the truth is with Pitts, he was a very efficient player. His yak was really good. His target per out run rate plummeted, though. But I do think that there's some encouraging stuff in his profile. Believe it or not, he could still be a dynamic player, especially for a tight end. But he just, his, his target per hour run rate was so low. So if he can get 20% of the targets, then we could be talking about a player here. All right, Jamie, I'm going to let you introduce our next guest as we bring Todd onto the show. Jamie, take it away.
Jamie
Yeah. Todd has been one of the, one of our more most loyal listeners to our show and one of the more dedicated people to our draft on with everything that he's done to help the kids at St. Jude. What we've done here, what we've tried to accomplish. One of the most generous people I think we ever come across. Certainly. I think it's been what now, Todd, five years you've been helping us out with this and just, you know, can't say enough about your generosity and, and wanting to support us and support what we're doing with St. Jude. So it's an honor to always have you in our podcast league and you know, you know, been a, a great thing for me to call you a friend at this point and just really appreciate everything that you do.
Todd
Thank you so much. My friends aren't going to recognize me based on that intro.
Dan
I thought they're gonna not gonna recognize.
Jamie
I really appreciate it.
Dan
Camera shot.
Todd
What's that?
Dan
I said I was joking. I said I thought they might not recognize you based on this. Camera shot. You and Jamie right now. Double witness protection program.
Todd
I, I wanted to be like Jamie. I put the hat on.
Dan
I understand the feeling of wanting to be like Jamie.
Dave
Yeah. How about.
Heath
And criticize people's background.
Dave
Yeah. All right.
Todd
Because I'm so competitive. I heard somebody else donated $20,000, so I'm gonna add another 10,000.
Dave
Oh, my gosh.
Todd
I can still be Todd.
Dan
Thank you.
Todd
The biggest donor, Todd.
Heath
Awesome.
Dan
Love it.
Dave
That's great. Oh, that's interesting, because Dave is actually donating $50,000 later today. That's. That's really amazing, Todd. All right, so listen, tell us a couple things. Tell us why supporting St. Jude is important to you, and tell us about your foundation and how we can help out, and then let's talk a little fantasy football, because I know that's. That's the other reason you're here.
Todd
Well, thank you so much again. I really appreciate it. St. Jude is all about helping kids. And when it comes to passion and giving to others who are having a tough time, kids top the list, and especially kids who are sick. So there is nothing you could ever do that's enough. But at least giving money hopefully makes situations a little better, research a little stronger. And everything is geared towards making this world a better place. And in regards to that, that is why I started my own charity three years ago. And you guys are so kind to allow me to come on and talk about it for a moment. It's called International Therapist Fund. You can look at it on the Internet at international therapist fund.org last year, I was on with Scott Fish, and they were incredible to make such a nice donation. And what we do is we raise money for people who have gone through trauma, whether it be sexual abuse, domestic violence, or human trafficking. And we raise money for therapeutic grants. And it's all about making helping people one person at a time. Just like you guys who help people get better at fantasy football, I'm trying to help people get better in life for a moment. And if I could help strangers, that's what life is all about.
Dave
Wow, that's amazing. International therapist, fun.org please go there right now and check it out. And I'm sorry that we normally do help people get better at fantasy football, but with you, we stick you with Jamie every year in the podcast league. So I know that's kind of an issue, but. All right, so who are some. You've been listening to our show, obviously. Who are some of your guys you think that you would want on your fantasy teams?
Todd
You know, it's all about HN at the top. I like drafting later on. You know, the. The fantasy Place that I draft has the third round reversal. So I really believe in drafting more towards the eight spot. So that way in the third round you can get that high quality player. And for some reason I haven't been drafting a ton yet, but for some reason I keep drafting Lamar and I'm not usually a quarterback early guy at all. And I love Justin Fields late because there's nobody else there. But at the end of the day you have that one good running back and then you just load up on wide receivers and you know, hope that you don't have Jamie and I's luck when you pick the great guys and they get injured in week seven.
Jamie
So we had Chris Godwin. We were, we were moving along pretty well there with, with Godwin and then we got hurt with that. Todd, you're, you're a Michigan guy. So a lot of talk obviously about Jameson Williams and his, you know, potential for this season, Jameer Gibbs and, and maybe taking a step forward ahead of David Montgomery. In terms of the Lions just being, you know, somebody that, that's, that's around that area. What are you hearing just from, you know, potential of what, you know, two guys. Amara St. Brown also, but just an offense that's, that's going through some changes with Ben Johnson gone and the potential of the Lions this year.
Todd
While I'd like to say I'm an expert, the only thing I know is six years ago my 30 yard line tickets were $100 a ticket and now they're 375.
Dan
So wow.
Todd
The, the Lions offense, I mean they're so good and how important is an offensive coordinator? You know, you guys discuss that a lot. There are articles written about, about it. You know, I, you know, here in Detroit as well as the Tigers are doing, the moment the Lions get their first win, nobody's even going to think about the Tigers anymore. It is a football town and I think, I think actually more people are excited about J.J. mcCarthy. There's a lot of, a lot of blue fans out here and in Michigan, so. But I think it's going to be great. I mean there's so much talent and last year I loved me some St. Brown and I do think that he might not get the volume he got last year.
Dave
Yeah, I think people are definitely concerned about that. I'm asking one more question here. So the league you share with Jamie is a 14 team league and you and Jamie can both talk about this, but how do things change for you in a 14 team league? Do you prioritize certain positions more than Others now it's a 14 team league, but I only, I'm the commissioner. I only make it a two receiver league with a flex. So I try to make it not super deep or anything. But Todd and then Jamie, what do you guys. What advice would you give for playing in 14 team leagues?
Todd
First, I just want to say thank you again for inviting me on. Dave, you're talking too much. At the end of the day, Jamie and I always talk about how by the fifth round it, it seems like it's already just absolute junk out there. And that's the biggest difference. I apologize. The biggest difference between a 12 and a 14 team league. It's amazing how quickly the quality players go. So you really got to look for the guys that, that really appeal to you, you know, and which, which scarcity, you know, positions. Jamie and I always talk about when you only need one, you don't need to draft them as quickly. But you know, when you go for, like you said, two wide receivers, two running backs, make sure you get at least one or two that are just at the top of your list.
Jamie
I would say the biggest thing is, especially this is. I don't know how many people share fantasy teams. Make sure you talk through your picks before you hit the button. Todd and I had, I think it was what, two years ago where I think I mentioned the name. You're like, okay, cool. And you clicked it. I was like, oh, too soon. It's like two rounds, two rounds too early for somebody. I remember who it was. It actually might have been Raheem Moster who actually ended up. I think it was 20, 23. But in any event, it. Look, 14 team leagues are tough, you know, especially with our audience because that's who we're competing against. We're competing against, you know, you guys as well. And it's, it's harder when you get into these, you know, shallow, you know, pools of players and, and deeper when it comes to, you know, getting these opportunities, deeper leagues that when you know who you're drafting. You hear me say this a lot. Know who you're drafting with. When we know you're drafting with, you're like, okay, yeah, I'm gonna get this guy. Nope, he's gone. Because everybody kind of has similar mindset on certain players and we like who we like and we, you know, try to avoid what we don't and waiting on quarterbacks and titans, all those things. So, you know, strategy kind of gets thrown out the window a little bit because you kind of know what's happening. You know, as each round unfolds, I think the one thing like Todd said is when you have inclination on a player, you probably got to pull the trigger a little bit sooner than you would in a 12 team lead because you're going to get less opportunity to get those guys come back to you. So if we're in the beginning part of the. The first round, I think everybody that we're drafting with is going to be in on Devon Hn, for example. We probably have to pick him at like fourth or fifth as opposed to, you know, waiting till like seventh or eighth where his ADP may start to go.
Dave
All right, so just one last thing, Todd. Just going to read a comment here. I'm not sure if you were able to see the show before you came on, but someone said I was watching for a while. Okay, good. Someone said terrible buff chick dip take from Dan. Cause he said buffalo chicken dip is the worst dip. I feel I don't know anyone's going to agree with that. How do you. How do you feel about buffalo chicken for a reason? Yeah, well, it's a bad take. Your thoughts on buffalo chicken dip.
Todd
I don't know if you guys know this. I don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but in real life, I studied at the hotelier in the Swan, Switzerland, and I'm a chef by trade.
Dave
Oh.
Todd
And I am not a buffalo chicken dip guy, but I also make my own honey mustard sauce.
Dan
Let's go, Todd.
Todd
I am preferential to something that's sweeter.
Dave
Okay.
Dan
I really appreciate you noticing, Todd. This is from a chef. Let me, let me repeat. It's renowned chef, studied in some of the greatest places you could study. And as he, as he mentioned, if you just chuck a tub of cream cheese. He didn't mention that doesn't make it better.
Dave
He did not mention that you're putting words in his mouth. But Todd, thank you very much for coming on today. Thank you so much for your generosity and I thank you, Todd. You know, it would be nice of me to let you guys win in the podcast league, but I just can't do that. But I do appreciate having you.
Dan
Naturally. It'll come naturally.
Jamie
Thank you.
Todd
Thank you all so much.
Dave
All right.
Todd
So appreciate it. Thank you, my friend.
Dan
Thank you, Todd.
Dave
All right, that is Todd Rhones. Our email address is fantasyfootballbsi.com by the way, his foundation, internationaltherapistfund.org international therapistfund.org so great stuff from him. And an unbelievably generous man. Every single year Helping us out.
Jamie
Amazing.
Dave
All right, email us fantasy footballbsi.com, we'll run through some of these. We'll read your draftathon questions, we'll read your Apple podcast questions, and get some YouTube as well. First email comes before, just before.
Jamie
Real quick how this all came about. By the way, was Todd donated to St. Jude to do one of our calls, which is still coming up, I believe. Yeah. And that's how, you know, and then he obviously expressed his generosity in wanting to do more. And again, I think it's going on at least five years now. I remember how this. This happened, you know, so he said, you know, I make a pretty generous Don donation if you guys can get me in one of your leagues. And I said, okay, yeah, you know, you get these. The offers from time to time. I said, yeah, you know, that'd be great. Let me. Let me think about it and talk to the guys. We did a show. I don't know if you guys remember this. We did a show and I said, hey, this, you know, just did a call and, you know, obviously, very generous offer. Let's call him back and. And see if he's really going to do it. And we called him back and he was like, oh, yeah, here's the check. And, and. And then this has been going on for five years. Like, I said, you know, I call him a friend at this point. We talk a lot throughout the course of the season about our team, you know, and football takes and all those things, and, you know, can't say enough for just what he's done for us in St. Jude. Forget about us. What he's done for St. Jude, it's just goes above and beyond. You know, we have a lot of generous people that give, and by no means do we expect everybody to do what he does, because it's unrealistic. A dollar goes a long way. $10 goes a long way. Even if you don't take part in anything that we're doing. And you just want to say, hey, thank you guys for entertaining me for. For five minutes a day, 10 minutes a day, you know, saying, pass. Starting to show off me and my idiotic stuff. We, We. We. We appreciate it, you know, so it's not just about Todd giving what he does, which, again, incredible. It's. Whatever you guys can give would be fantastic. So, yep, we appreciate it.
Dave
Well said, Jamie. All right, this one's from Terry McLovin. Remember I used to call him that? I thought it was a great name.
Dan
That was your nickname.
Dave
Yeah.
Dan
So you Want credit for coining? You are the guy who made Terry McLovin.
Dave
Yeah, everyone was calling him F1 and I was like, let's call him McLovin. That's so much funnier.
Jamie
Okay. Yeah, he's about, he's about to get the F out of here.
Dave
How do we pronounce this one, Dave? Wallet. J, O, L, I, E, T. Joliet. No, I thought it was like had like a funky pronunciation. It's not one of those.
Todd
If it were, I lost a lot.
Heath
Of money in Joliet Eleanor.
Dave
If it were in Massachusetts, it would be pronounced something completely different.
Heath
Dave, I lost a lot of money in Joliet Eleanor.
Dan
Casino.
Jamie
Around.
Dan
There.
Heath
There is.
Dan
Okay.
Dave
All right. Dear Tommy, Chucky, Angelica and Phil.
Dan
Obviously the Rugrats.
Dave
They are obviously the Rugrats. Which rookie wide receiver is your favorite value that can pay large dividends in 2025? I'm loving a Booka. Who. Any other, Any other thoughts, Dan?
Dan
My favorite that I've discussed a lot on beyond the Box Store. The cat's out of the bag. I just have to give it out. Wanted to keep it in, but Trey Harris. Trey Harris, my God, the tape at Ole Miss was phenomenal. And then just looking at some of the stuff I've seen from camp, winning as a one on one winner in those X situations. He's just everything they drafted Quinton Johnson to be. He's there already. I said my comp for him coming to the NFL is Terry McLaurin because just like McLaurin, he ran a high 40 time. He doesn't flash in these athletic ways. But when you actually watch the tape, watch him get in and out of his breaks, he does what NFL coaches want receivers do and what quarterbacks want receivers to do. It's why Lad Monkey was so good last year. Because Justin Herbert is an on time quarterback who gets the ball with anticipation. Relies on receivers who create separation. Harris is another one of those guys.
Dave
Dan was going to wait till October and Landry Smith, but thank you for that.
Dan
I wanted to keep that one in so bad. Adam.
Jamie
There'S a clip. Landry Smith last night looked good too.
Dan
Yeah, he's an interesting Lambert guy. Excuse me, Lambert Smith.
Jamie
I, I will say like, you know, this is a, a receiving core that's shaping up to be pretty good for the future. You know, especially if Johnson can, can build off what he did last year and you know, just be a, a deep ball, you know, every, every now and then make a few big plays for them. We know what McConkey is I agree with you on Harris. Like, there's a lot to like about the way this, this passing game is going.
Dan
I remember Will Harbaugh let him throw enough. That's the problem.
Dave
Remember this, this stat here? Over the past five seasons, there have been 33 wide receivers who were drafted in round nine or later.
Jamie
Okay.
Dave
In 12 team leagues and they either finished top 24 overall or top 24 per game. So, yeah, 33 wide receivers, that's, that's a lot in five years that have been finished top 24 overall for or per game. At least. At least two rookies every season.
Jamie
Yep.
Dave
So I, I think, I think it might be the under this year because this is not a good rookie class, but it does.
Jamie
Well, you could, you could see two. You could see two. I don't know if Harris gets there based on his team because of the volume, but Abuka and Luther Burden based on where they're going to get drafted. If Burden is the slot guy for Ben Johnson.
Dan
Oh, yeah.
Jamie
My goodness. His value is incredible right now. Great. And Abuka is just an injury. If, if there's one of those two guys are missing right now, obviously God was dealing with the injury. Dave said it the way that they're talking about him. The. When you, when. The thing that I always look for with rookies is when you hear players, teammates and coaches talk about how quickly they're picking things up. Forget about anything you see in camp. Baker Mayfield from day one has said his mental aspect, his mental approach to the game is so good. And you know, I wrote about this that he, when Pete Prisco talked him, he said the minute he makes a mistake, he fixes it right away.
Dan
Yep.
Jamie
I love that. Absolutely love that. That when these guys understand it right away and they're in their playbooks and, and doing everything that they're supposed to do and not just going out there and relying on their athleticism and what they've done in college. Like, he's gotta, he's gotta stand out in some way, shape or form, these guys. And the thing that concerns me about Burden, injury. And then Ben Johnson obviously flipped out on him the other day because he didn't do something right. And I, I don't necessarily view that as so much of a bad thing because clearly there's a lot of expectations for Burden and if he's going to be in that role because now DJ Moore in the backfield and, and talking about Rome was dunes.
Dan
Yeah.
Jamie
Prototypical X. Exactly. Dan. Like this could be huge for Burden. Absolutely huge for him.
Dave
Okay.
Dan
I agree.
Dave
Yeah, it was. It was round nine or later. Dan.
Heath
Okay, so we have to mention Matthew golden as a rookie who could take that step too. And he's another receiver that's made a nice jump so far. And camp. I don't know if jump's the right word, but, like a nice start to being acclimated into the packers offense. Definitely a clear path for him to be the number one wide receiver in Green Bay. And you can get him. His ADP is round 10.
Dave
Okay, let's take a break here. We got another question. Oh, this is one Dan's gonna love. I got an email yesterday from a dedicated listener. He said, you're not talking enough about auctions. Should ask the guys on yesterday's show, how much are they gonna spend for the elite?
Jamie
Was that from Dan Schaefer?
Dave
That was not. There was a guy who emailed us. Dan Schaefer. That's. That's a dedicated.
Dan
Understand that. Dan Schaefer email. So, like, the exact spelling of Thomas's last name. That's the surprising part. And then my first name is just.
Dave
And spelled the same way as you.
Dan
Almost as if. Almost as if one of us set up a fake email to troll Adam.
Jamie
Dan. Well, I didn't read Thomas. Do you have any relatives named Dan?
Dave
No, I don't. It's pretty. It's a pretty good name. All right, we're going to take a break, guys. Let's come back, talk auctions. We'll be right back.
Dan
Thanks for selling your car to Carvana. Here's your check.
Jamie
Whoa.
Heath
When did I get here?
Dan
What do you mean?
Heath
I swear it was just moments ago that I accepted a great offer from Carvana online. I must have time traveled to the future. It was just moments ago.
Dan
We do Same day pickup. Here's your check for that great offer.
Dave
It is the future.
Heath
It's.
Dan
It's the present and just the convenience of Carvana. Sorry to blow your mind.
Todd
It's all good.
Heath
Happens all the time.
Dave
Sell your car the convenient way to Carvana.
Dan
Pickup times may vary and fees may apply.
Heath
Now streaming on Paramount. The suspect is trying to evade us.
Dave
You're walking into the unknown. We had somebody out there starving, starting fires for the heck of it. It's dark. There's no road signs. We need the help of Air1.
Jamie
When there's chaos below, he's bailing on foot.
Heath
This individual did not want to be caught.
Jamie
They go high.
Dave
The helicopter sees you.
Heath
He never realized we were above watching him the whole time. An all new season of Chopper Cops. Now streaming on Paramount Plus.
Dave
So the question was how much would you spend? I don't know if you want to do $100 or $200 budget, you can decide. Dave, on the top tiers at. Okay, Dan says 200 top tiers at quarterback and tight end. Well, I mean those are the two positions we previewed, but why don't we just start with quarterback? Dave, how much are you spending on those elite five?
Heath
Let's put it on a percentage and the percentage would be around 15% for the top tier at both quarterback and tight end. I might go over that. If it's full PPR at tight end, not at quarterback. But 15 is about the range that you should go.
Dan
Okay. I would say. And that's for one quarterback league. Dave's talking.
Heath
Oh yeah, two quarterback league. It's like more than double that.
Dan
Yeah. When you get to the two quarterback super flex, you can pay up to I would say 25 of your budget for one of these elite quarterbacks. They're worth as much as the top running backs in one quarterback league. Let's just go with that for now. Because of what Dave said, most of your league that most of these auctions you play in, they probably won't be spending much on quarter. Those top tier quarterbacks in the one quarterback leagues. I don't know how much value there is to me in waiting. I think there's value in taking those guys because of that. But I end up waiting anyway. I think this year, this year is going to be one of the best late round quarterback years we've had in a really long time. When I look at the, our guys's consensus quarterback rankings and I see like QB 16, 17, 18, I'm like love them, love them, love them at cost. And I'm, I just look through that group and I'm like, I'll just get two of those guys. Why would I ever pay up? Because when you're in auctions, those guys end up going for two or three bucks.
Jamie
I was gonna say that one of my favorite strategies, you know, I don't mention this enough. I always put the quarterbacks up early because they get, yeah, the, the money for them. The initial ones go so high and then it's, it's like the sliding scale. Like you get to the, the quarterbacks five through 10 and it's like, oh, I can get those guys for. So if you're going 15% then it's down to 10% and then it's down to like 5% or in some cases you're getting such steals. There's always going to be one quarterback where you go, I can't believe he got that guy for that price. Every auction, every salary cap ever done.
Dan
And there's a reason behind that because it's just a science. When everybody has their starters filled, they're not willing to pay extra money for the backup at that point.
Heath
Supply and demand.
Jamie
And and another thing to Dan's point, like if there's a number two quarterback that I love, I'll always try to get that guy early for a dollar because you, you almost certainly will get. So if you're like that earlier, Jordan Love for example.
Dan
Yep.
Jamie
Or Herbert or McCartney, whatever the case may be any of those guys, like you said, Dan, those quarterbacks and you really want them, do it early for a dollar and you'll almost guarantee to get them.
Dave
Yeah.
Jamie
Great point.
Dave
This is, hold on. This is one QB advice, right?
Jamie
One qb. Yeah.
Dave
You're never gonna get that I right. And I, I, I am much more likely to to spend little on quarterback in auction leagues because this is where you can spend big and get, you know, three studs right at different positions.
Dan
You want to play that strategy? Yeah.
Dave
Because the only way, because the, the players that think about the running backs and wide receivers you can get for A dollar or $2, they don't even compare to the quarterbacks you can get for a dollar and two dollars. So it just to me makes a lot of sense to play take advantage of the depth at that position to Dan, let me, let me transition to tight end. How do you, yeah, how do you handle?
Dan
That's where I was going to go because tight end's an interesting one in auctions. And I'm going to have this debate with myself. The big debate for me is Brock Bowers this year. Do I want to spend that money or I guess your auction budget on that player? Because I think what Dave's saying by a percentage doesn't apply to me. For me it's where do I see Bowers fitting on my overall big board and I am willing to pay the am I willing to pay the price of the where I see him. So if I see him as the 13th or 14th best overall player and I do have him ranked very high in my rankings, I, I know that he's gonna end up going cheaper than the receiver and running backs that go in that range in snake drafts. That's just the nature of the auction in my mind at least. These tight ends, these top guys don't go for that same price as the guys where they're being as at least where they're being drafted equivalent to snake draft. So it depends if you want to take that plunge. Because if you take that plunge and you do put the $22 of your budget or whatever it may be into Bowers or McBride, it just re alters what you can do at running back and receiver in a. In a big way. So like I don't ultimately end up doing it a lot. I did it during the Kelsey years a few times.
Dave
I'm sorry for last.
Dan
What'd you say?
Heath
How did it work out for you?
Dan
It worked out great because for a while Kelsey was a big cheat code in fantasy. But then that faded and it's been a bad couple years for Kelsey. For Kelsey Byers.
Dave
I'm sorry for laughing. There are a lot of very funny comments about the mic arm that dad.
Dan
What'S going on with that? It's bad.
Dave
I mean we all have the same. I don't use it, but I have the same one.
Dan
All right, so what's the issue?
Jamie
It's the same one I have.
Dave
That thing can hold up to 150 pounds.
Dan
That's weighs more than that. That can build up an atom mazer. Then you should have just written Dan.
Dave
Brought a small crane to hold his mic went from no bike.
Dan
I don't even have last show. This is as good as it gets for me.
Dave
That Mike arm has Derek Henry is the 101 heavy duty. All right. All right, let's go to our next question here from the emails. It is from Jacob.
Jamie
I think by the way, the early start threw off Johnny Airport. He probably have some good. He.
Dave
He's the one. He came in. He said, I just came in to see Dan's industrial strength. Whatever. What is this? Okay, anyway, question from Jacob. I've been listening to your podcast for the last two years. I've really enjoyed it. All of you have your own opinions on each player and I was wondering who do you. Who do you. Don't answer this. Guys. Who do you think has been collectively the most right about every subject you guys have discussed over the years? Sleepers or bus breakouts Rankings. I find it hard sometimes. This is the crux of the question that I'm going to answer anyway. I find it hard sometimes to know who to listen to as one player might be a breakout player for one person and would be a bust for another. So yeah, I think that could be tricky for people listening. I have no idea who's been right the most. I think that everyone Comes at it from different. We share similarities. Everyone shares similarities in the way they evaluate players, but also differences. And I think those differences are highlighted. So I would say try to line up with a philosophy that you like, but honestly, you could listen to Dave about one player and Heath about another player and Jamie, Dan and so on. Just. I always think our job is to give you the most information as possible to help you make a decision. You don't necessarily have to listen to our opinions, but listen to the facts and the theories and the reasons behind our opinions and see what resonates most with you.
Dan
And always, and I mean always take an easier stat with a grain of salt.
Jamie
I will say, like, you know, to something like Todd said, like, he said he's all in on a 10, right? So if you have that about a player and there's one of us that's supporting something that you happen to believe, you don't necessarily have to follow that person's advice. But if you start to just see somebody that aligns with your thinking and it could change year to year, it could change week to week. You know, oh, Jamie said start, start of the week, and I was wrong, which happens a lot. Obviously, I'm not gonna listen to Jamie for a few weeks and then, okay, oh, man, he's got this player on my team. He got him right? Okay, got this player. Then. Then you're back on, you know, wherever I'm, I'm going or Dave's steered you in the right direction for years and you're gonna stick with him no matter what. We get that all the time. You know, he's been my guy. I'm sticking with him no matter what he says. Like, that's what you should do. What. It's whatever you think is going to work out best for you. And I say this all the time. Like if you have a conviction on something and it could be a fantasy, else doesn't have to be us, you know, it could be. You listen to us for the fun of it. You listen to other people because you think they're better than us for whatever reason. I don't think that's the case. But whatever. Go with whatever your gut is telling you. You know, it, it. And Adam, Adam said it best. You know, like, we try to give you just a collection of everything, and hopefully that's our. Our. Our goal every time we, We. We talk or write about something.
Heath
The best part is don't be a lemming and have conviction. Here are our opinions and. And whatever sounds right to you. You could Follow. And that's. That's the whole point. I love it that we come at the fantasy game from different angles.
Jamie
Yeah.
Heath
Like, Jamie's background is different from my background, which is different from Heath's background, which is different from Jacob Gibbs background, which is different from Dan's background. And every so often, even Adam makes points where I go, well, damn, I know a Colette is right about something. I kind of believe in what he said.
Dave
Adam, you were right.
Heath
So, yeah, there it is. So I. I think that's the best way to go about it. You listen, you, and you get yourself invested in. In a show. Hopefully, like Jamie says, it's our show. But you don't just blindly follow anybody. You hear everybody's opinions. You take it to heart and you say, okay, this time, I think this is right because of X, Y and Z.
Jamie
And.
Heath
And this is why I'm going to draft Achan. And I, you know, I agree with that. I think A Chan's gonna be awesome this year.
Jamie
And Dan's background changes all the time.
Dave
I was gonna make the same joke. Dan is a new background every show. I gotta tell. Maybe this is. Maybe this is a segment. Yeah, good mic, Stan. This is a segment. Maybe for another show. But what's making me nervous is that I am finding myself to be very different on a number of players than everyone else on the show and in the industry. And I don't think that's a great idea.
Jamie
But to your point, though, the two guys that I think you were different on are rising.
Dave
Yeah, McCaffrey, Hill. But the other one is like, to me, I want to make Nico Collins my wide receiver too, but I. Nobody has.
Jamie
I mean, he's fourth for me. You're not far off.
Dave
I know, but it's like he has not proven he's not done it. CD Lamb has done it. Justin Jefferson has done it. So it's. It's a gutsy thing to do. I don't know if I can do it. Why. I can't figure out why you guys aren't higher on Pacheco. We will say this for another show. We have running back preview next week, but go ahead.
Jamie
The best thing about your Collins take, and it's same thing with Heath's take on. On each end. Like you can. You can wait and still get the player that you want.
Dave
Well, not really. Because if I have the second pick.
Jamie
Well, if. If you're picking seventh or eighth, where there's, you know, the questions start to come.
Dave
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Jamie
Okay. I'm. I'm taking McCaffrey there no matter what. Like you've done that. Yeah. And you stood by that for weeks. And Nico's going to be the same thing. Like you get to that Puka neighbors, St. Brown, you know, group, and you're like, I'm taking Nico. I don't care. Like, you're control. You're not waiting till round two, which is where his ADP is.
Dave
Put it this way, if I get nico with the 10th or 11th pick, which is very realistic, I am just doing cartwheels. Absolutely loving it.
Dan
I would love to see you do a cartwheel.
Dave
You know what? I tried about 15 years ago and it was one of the funniest and most horrifying and most dangerous things that I've ever done. I, I almost, I hit a table. I got, I got, I got upside down. You know, I got halfway through the cartwheel and then I said to myself, I can't finish this. Like, I'm done right now. What gravity is going to win. And I just, I just like collapsed into a table, basically. It would have been. There have been cameras. This would have been extremely viral.
Dan
God, I wish somebody got this on video.
Dave
Yeah, sorry. All right, let's go to our draft.
Jamie
A thon questions if we had cameras in the early part of our show.
Dave
Stealing my wallet and stuff like that.
Dan
I wish. I miss all the azer pranks.
Jamie
I can't believe Adam's. Adam's meltdowns were so epic.
Dan
Yeah, but how did he get rid of them? I don't want them anymore.
Jamie
I got kids because we were in person.
Heath
Yeah, I got kids.
Dave
I mean, you have to become a more calm person when you have kids or they're just going to beat you, you know. All right, this is from Jason. How's everyone feeling about JJ McCarthy this year? What are his realistic range of outcomes in a Super flex league? Can McCarthy be your QB1 and load up on other positions? Thank you for the question, Jason. I did mention on our quarterbacks preview that the last three quarterbacks under Kevin O' Connell have finished top. I think I said eight per game or 10 per game in six point. Top 12 per game in four point. So, Dave, I'm going to throw this to you. You had called him a sleeper earlier in the process. How are you feeling about McCarthy?
Heath
I love getting him late and I don't know if I would make him my QB1 in a super flex league, but my QB2 in a super flex league. I would definitely be all about that. I guess I wouldn't hate it if you're going to wait on quarterback and you get three quarterbacks and McCarthy might be the first one you draft, and then you get a couple of other quarterbacks of that same ilk. So, like, you know, high upside types of quarterbacks. But it also might define your season because if you whiff on two of the three or all three of the quarterbacks, you're probably not going to be very competitive in the league, assuming it's six point for passing and all that stuff. But I love the situation he's in. I love the. The success of other quarterbacks in Kevin o' Connell's offense. I worry a little bit about what we've learned from training camp in Minnesota. So far he's been up and down, and maybe that's par for the course for a guy who's never really played NFL football. But I do hope that at some point in the second half of the season, we see J.J. mcCarthy take that big step forward. It will help if Justin Jefferson is healthy and ready to go, and it'll help in. Jordan Addison's back on the field. We're expecting a suspension for Jordan Addison.
Dave
All right.
Dan
Sorry, Dave. I didn't mean to laugh in the middle of that take.
Jamie
I just.
Heath
What did I say?
Dan
Nothing. You said. Jamie directed me to some. Something a commenter said.
Jamie
Rickless Cage's comment.
Dan
Dan to Chick.
Dave
Did you read the rest of what I said? We're not reading that. We're not reading that.
Dan
Oh, we can't read that one.
Dave
No, I would not read that. This is from Kevin.
Dan
That was so funny.
Jamie
I'm glad I didn't read that. I probably shouldn't.
Dave
Kevin says not nice.
Dan
Brick accent means by tip. Tim. What does that even mean?
Dave
I have no idea. Oh, oh, the brick accent.
Heath
He's talking about what's behind.
Dave
Yeah, your wall. You sound like JT the brick is what he bet. All right. Anyway, Kevin says what show like stucco. What show moment has made Jamie laugh more. Dan's pass in Family Feud or the sun constantly blinding Dave through the window last season.
Jamie
I still can't get past the best part about that was he was talking about CD Lamb. Yeah, that was. That was the best.
Dave
Like, it was like.
Jamie
It was like. It was a bit like you set it up and like somebody is doing something with your windows.
Heath
That's just proof that Mother Nature.
Dave
It was.
Dan
No, his biggest laugh. Thomas nailed it. His biggest laugh actually was when I wore the Met shirt field, where I would say he was covered by the microphone.
Jamie
The last. The last two years The. The. The most that I've laughed. Dan shirt. Adam's Star Trek shirt.
Dan
Oh yeah, I forgot about that shirt. And he thought it was good.
Jamie
He bought that?
Dave
Oh, yeah.
Dan
It wasn't a gift.
Jamie
How is that not a gift? Dave's. Dave's something was hysterical. And then the two. The two feud moments when Dan said his name and when he said pass.
Dave
When I tell people about Dan, I tell him he's. He's the kind of guy who would wear a shirt that says where and have the microphone covering up the E.
Dan
I didn't have the microphone coming up the E. It's just. That's how it happened.
Dave
Yeah, like that's, that's. That's that. The second part of this question is my lead got rid of kickers and swapped in another flex spot. Swapped another flex spot. Six point per passing touchdown. Now it's half ppr, but with three flexes. Two receivers, two running backs, three flexes. How does this change your draft strategy?
Jamie
I mean, it just gives you an opportunity is PPR or half, Half, half. So even in that scenario, you could still load up on receivers. Like you could start five receivers. And it's better in ppr, clearly. But like the fact that you can sort of dominate a position. Like you have this in the Bake Burger, for example, if not mistaken. Right. It's two receivers and three receivers and two flexes.
Dave
Or Bake Burger is two receivers, two running backs and. Yeah, three flex. And of course, flex. Yeah.
Jamie
Yeah. So like for me, the whole. The whole approach was always, can I start five receivers? And I love that. I love my receiving core. It's the only thing that's kind of kept me afloat and trying to build out running backs around it. So like for me, it's. It's the ability to dominate a position like that.
Dan
Yeah.
Dave
Pushes down tight end. For me.
Dan
I always say when you have playing in these big flex leagues, you need to. In my mind at least, you need to re. Shift your focus of how to build a roster out via the draft. I think the granular, the accepted ideas. I get my two starting running backs, I get my starting receivers, my tight end, my quarterback. No, you. Your flex positions are worth as much on a weekly basis as all of your starting positions. So you can fire at receiver or whatever it may be in PPR leagues. So it's just some different way to think of it. Like, don't be afraid to fill your flexes before your RB2 or whatever it may be.
Heath
And it allows you to chase value a little Bit more because those flex spots are just as valuable. So getting your third running back before your third wide receiver, especially if that third running back is somebody like Jalen Warren, who's going to catch a bunch of passes. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Dan
Yep.
Dave
Okay, next question is from Steve. Just wanted to donate and make a comment. Heath's Swift love gives vibes of his 2022 DJ More Love. Elaborate. And Jamie leftover league me, please.
Jamie
Okay.
Dave
I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. It can't be that easy, right?
Heath
I think Heath has to be here to answer this.
Dave
I just want to bring up something about D.J. moore's 2022 season. Do you remember he had three quarterbacks? One of them was P.J. walker. Do you remember who the other two were in Caroline?
Jamie
No, no, that wasn't the year came back.
Heath
Or Mayfield, one of them. And he was just absolutely.
Dan
2023 was Baker for sure.
Dave
2022. Baker and Darnold. How funny is that? Baker.
Dan
It is crazy that they're.
Jamie
Baker. They had Baker. They had on the scout team because he was. He was so bad. He was. He was running defensive line, I believe, on the scout team.
Dan
Crazy how fast things can change.
Dave
Yeah, I don't know like that. Look, Heath was. That was like a second round pick for Heath. Swift is not. Yeah, he, he.
Jamie
And he's not that.
Dave
Yeah, he's.
Jamie
He's ahead of consensus, but he's not that far ahead of consensus.
Dave
I think a lot of people had the same realization like nothing happened in that backfield. We have to. We have to give DeAndre Swift the benefit of the doubt.
Heath
Yeah, that's what happened to me.
Dave
And now listen, this is another worth. It's like you're high on this guy. You're higher on him than everyone else. You end up taking him in every single draft. You better be right, because you better say this, though. What do they see that I don't? Go ahead.
Jamie
I don't know all. I don't know all the drafts that Heath has done. He's not really reaching for him.
Dan
Right.
Jamie
He's taking him ahead of like he's taking him in. In a head of A tier. But he's not like, he's not taking him where he has him ranked because where he hasn't ranked is like by Camara and Breece hall and those guys. He's not taking him round three. He's getting him early in round five, which is just again, slightly ahead of it. So like, I don't. I. I've never seen A draft. I'm like, oh, my God, I can't believe he took Swift there.
Dave
Yeah, it's true. All right, next up, we have Dave Crawford. Thank you for your unwavering support of St. Jude every year. My donation is dedicated to Charlotte in Falls Church, Virginia. Charlotte is just one of the many kids fighting cancer that benefits either directly or indirectly from. From the work at St. Jude and the generous donations of your listeners and viewers. I know Charlotte's family would appreciate the support of the amazing fantasy football today community. So please keep Charlotte in all your thoughts and prayers. And we will, for sure. My question is what to do with Travis Hunter in leagues that start IDPs? I'm in a super flex auction league where each team starts two IDPs at any position. Usually a good IDP will average around 10 points, often middle linebackers getting a bunch of tackles. Should we allow Hunter to start as an IDP and potentially score double or triple the normal IDP score? Or limit him to only wide receiver or flex? Or maybe just give him points for whichever side we start him on? I appreciate your thoughts. I'm going to handle this one here and I'm going to tell you that everyone could have their own opinion on this. My opinion is you should not allow Travis Hunter to start at IDP and accumulate both of his offensive and defensive points. I think that puts too much weight and makes him too valuable. I think you should. You can draft him. What I would do is you can draft him, you can start him at either spot each week, but you only get the points for either offense or defense. That's what I would do because that is what we did with Shohei Ohtani. You either started him at pitcher or you started him as a hitter. And you only got his hitter or his pitcher points. And I think that was the better way to do it. But again, I'm not saying I'm right. You can make your own decision. All right, let's see. Our next one is from Mules.
Jamie
This is what being in a league with Adam is like, by the way. Here's what's happening.
Dan
No, it's even worse than that. I'll just drop something on the message board. Nobody chat and nobody's seen it. And he's like, no, this is what it is now.
Dave
It's actually the exact opposite. It's everyone come. You know, people complain or request something and then I accommodate too much and then I end up making a bad decision because old Adam did that. New Adam.
Dan
New Adam. Yeah, we forgot about new Adam.
Dave
This one from Mule Dog. 12 team. Half PPR, Super Flex, half a point, tight end premium. So I guess it's full PPR for tight ends. Three receivers, two flex and it's dynasty. Okay, it's a lot there. Super flex, tight end premium. Three receivers, two flex, dynasty. I employed productive struggle for two years. I have Chase, Bijon, Robinson, jsn. But now I have Love, Nick's Darnold.
Dan
Wow. You're actually calling him by the name he wants to be called.
Dave
Yeah. Love, Nick's Darnold, Bijan, Genti, Hampton, Harvey, Kayla. He's wow. Chase, St. Brown, Nico, jsn, Bowers, Warren. He's got insane players. I'm ready to compete. I have picks 101 and two late firsts and three seconds in 2026. And I have two firsts and one second. 2027. Would you be looking to flip some of the 2026 picks to level up anywhere? And let's start with that. He's got Nixon, Darnold.
Heath
Definitely not now. And where do you need to level up? I guess quarterback, because Bo Nix is going to be your starter and you could try and get a top five quarterback instead. That would mean trading Nixon a first at minimum.
Jamie
What, what I would do is play out the season a little bit as we get closer to the trade deadline or see which teams are out of it, whatever, you know, talent that they want to flip for picks because you may be able to, let's say like Stafford or Gino Smith or some of these older quarterbacks get off to a great start and, and continue it like, you know, you don't have to trade a first for that. You might be able to trade a second or whatever, you know, the rest of your draft capital is for an older quarterback to somebody that would love to have that draft pick for next year or maybe two of those picks, you know, just because it's super flex. But whatever the case may be, like, you don't have to overpay for, let's say one of the top tier quarterbacks to get you something that's going to help you win a championship but still keep a lot of your draft capital for next season. So I would let it play out, see how the season unfolds, see what the rest of your league looks like. There could be a team that's just out of it, that has a good quarterback that's like, okay, give me a younger player and a pick and you might be able to, you know, to get a good quarterback that way. So I wouldn't, I Wouldn't panic right now because you got so much opportunity to win the league with the quarterbacks. Yeah.
Dave
All right, I got a question from James. 12 team, half PPR. League start three receivers. Who would you keep at pick two? No, pick one. Bowers in round nine or Bucky in round 11? Half PPR.
Dan
Bowers.
Heath
It's Bowers.
Jamie
Half PPR.
Dave
Yeah.
Dan
Be so fun to start Bowers. Round nine, have tight end locked up and have elite tight end.
Dave
All right, this is from Maggie.
Heath
He's safer long term than Bucky.
Dave
Yeah, that's the difference for me too.
Heath
That's. Yeah.
Todd
Like if this was a.
Heath
Honestly, if this was like a one year thing and you couldn't keep either guy after this year, I would go Bucky over Bowers.
Dan
Wow.
Heath
But if it's long term and you can keep these guys for a long time, I think Bowers has much more staying power.
Dave
All right, this is from Maggie. Half PPR, Super Flex, four point per passing touchdown. League keepers. Last two years, we had four quarterbacks taken in the first round and 12 off the board by the end of the fourth quarter. Fourth round. So that's not a lot in a super flex league. Okay. Keep two. Jaden Daniels in round two. Mike Evans in round three. Trevor Lawrence in round four. James Connor, Round five. T. Higgins. Round seven. Puka Naku, around eight. Sam Laporter, round nine.
Dan
Higgins. Puka for me.
Jamie
Keep how many?
Dave
No, no, no, no. James. Not. Not Dan. Sorry. You said Higgins in round seven. It's got to be Puka in round eight. Oh, it's one Puka and Daniels. Wait, what did you say?
Heath
You said Dan is saying to throw back Dan.
Dave
Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Dan
What was the Daniels number?
Heath
Second round, round two.
Dan
Oh, no. Yeah, yeah. Definitely super flex. And Tea against for me. No, Daniel. Yeah, Daniel. Oh, it's super flex. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. That was a brain fart. Super flex. It has to be Daniels and then Puka. Of course.
Jamie
Okay. Yep.
Dave
This one's from Alex. Keep four players with no loss of draft pick. Can keep one player their entire career if you'd like. So this is a two flex league. Three receivers, four point per passing, touchdown, half ppr. I'm keeping Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson and Jameer Gibbs. Should I keep Tyreek Hill or Chase Brown, Sam Laporta or Drake May?
Heath
And is it super flat?
Dave
It is a two QB league. Ten teams.
Jamie
Drake, me.
Dan
You can keep Drake May for life.
Heath
Yeah, I would roll the dice on Drake May compared to Laporta. Just thinking long term.
Dave
Okay, I think I only have one.
Heath
Left, but that's a super flex thing. That's definitely not a one QB thing.
Dave
If I missed anyone, please, please email me fantasy football cbsi.com and let me know. I'm really sorry if I missed you, but here's I think the last one. It's from Kenny G. Saxophonist. Yeah, same guy. Hey, Eddie. Chris Lane and Kurt. This is the Mount Run Mount Rushmore of grunge band. Lead singers, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Nirvana.
Dan
I'm not going to get into my. My Pearl Jam.
Heath
Scott Weiland, huh?
Dave
You think he's grunge?
Heath
What would you call Stone Temple Pilots?
Dave
I don't know. I don't really know where grunge and alternative.
Dan
That was a good suggestion.
Dave
I don't think. I don't think. I just think they're like. I just think they're like hard rocks stp. I don't think they're.
Dan
I would agree with that. Listen, Adam, that's a good suggestion by you. I've been listening to them on my shuffle after you told me about them. I would agree. Not grunge.
Dave
I don't know what they. Oh, they are. According to AI overview, they generally are considered a grunge band.
Dan
AI is not always right.
Dave
Yeah, I think they're not over these next 10 years. Okay, here we go. I have a high dollar home league that's been going on since the late 90s. So Dan was likely still in diapers and Dave was in college. The league is 12 teams. PPR. 12 teams PPR, six point passing, touchdown, one quarterback, three running backs, three wide receivers, no tight end. You can start a tight end as a wide receiver though. Who would a defense.
Dan
Well, you have to love Bowers and. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Jamie
I gotta make that choice tomorrow.
Dave
All right, so he wants us to make the argument to his league to. Instead of making this a three running back, no tight end league, make it a two running back, one tight end league.
Dan
So just go to standard.
Dave
Yeah.
Dan
Okay.
Dave
You should all make it a flex.
Jamie
Just make the play spot a flex.
Dave
Instead of a third wide receiver.
Heath
Trying to get a tight end added to.
Dan
We running back starting every week is wild. They must be just. That's an interesting league.
Jamie
I think if. If you really want tight ends in your league, it's. It's PPR or half ppr.
Dave
It's. I don't even know if that matters.
Jamie
So what you could do is make. Make the third running back, turn it into flex and make A tight end premium where it's a. Another half point for a tight end. So you're encouraging people that would get it.
Dave
Yeah, okay. And then they're probably not going to make the change, he says, because they're kind of stubborn, stuck in their ways. Where would you rank the top five tight ends within the wide receivers?
Jamie
I think, you know, we talk about their points per game a lot. You know, can they get to north of 17? And I think if you believe that Bowers and McBride can or whatever the sliding scale is like, then they're going to be in the 9, 10, 11, 12 receiver range. You know, like A.J. brownish for me, in, in that spot. Because I think 17, 18 is kind of where he's going to live. So I think for the top two guys, it's like top 12 receivers at the back end of that. And then Kittle would be somewhere around like wide receiver 16, 17, and then just continue to, you know, work your way down from there.
Dave
Would you take Marvin Harrison Jr. Or George Kittle analysis, specifically in a league that you do not have to start a tight end, would you say with.
Dan
The, with the point for extra point for tight end?
Dave
No, no, it's not Marvin.
Dan
Marvin.
Heath
I agree. You got to start three wide receivers. I know tight ends counters.
Dan
Probably not even taking a tight end in the league like that.
Dave
I mean, I think you got to move them down a little bit from where their ADP is. Right. So I don't think you should take Kittle ahead of Marvin Harrison when, I mean, maybe you could if you just don't like Harrison.
Dan
I don't hate the take, like.
Dave
Right. But he's going basically the same spot as him in drafts and that's where. With the factor of him being a tight end.
Jamie
But for me, for me it's, it would be the projections, you know, so where am I projecting these guys in terms of how they finish, how they're going to finish from a point per game standpoint. And right now in terms of Kittle's situation, Jennings may not play to start the season. Who knows when IUK is going to be ready. Like he's, he's. He could be dominant. So I'm not, I'm not. It. It ends really for me with the top three guys because I'm not going to try and sit here and say that Sam Laporta and Najoku and all these other, you know, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 tight ends continue to go down. Like we're talking at best 12 points per game, 11 points per game. You know, and then we start to get in those. Those guys that are 10 points per game. Like, I'm not going to guess which those guys are gonna. How those guys are going to finish compared to some of those receivers that have a chance to pop and be in the 15 point per game range.
Dave
All right, Kittle.
Jamie
Yeah, Bowers. Bowers, McBride and Kittle. I can kind of give a pretty. I can get a pretty good understanding of. I have a good expectation of what those guys are going to perform like. Sure. And if the. If the question is Marvin Harrison versus Kittle, I'm taking Kittle.
Dave
Okay. All right, let's go to our YouTube questions here. Thank you all very much for hanging around for this entire show. Elhan says I have the first.
Jamie
This is halfway through for Dan and his normal show.
Dave
I know beyond the box score is a six hour show. Is it worth it to take Bijan, Bijan over Jamar Chase? If I think running backs are being pushed up the board.
Dan
We really have to. This Bijan thing.
Dave
It's his name.
Jamie
What do you mean? That's.
Heath
That's what he wants to be called.
Jamie
Sorry, Dan.
Heath
If you wanted to be called Daniel, we would call you Daniel.
Dan
But here's this. Okay, let me really not that big of a quick story. My whole life was my best.
Jamie
There's no such thing. Very.
Dave
This is gonna be about you being a bouncer.
Dan
Quick as a dance story can be all life. Growing up, West Orange, New Jersey, one of my best friends is Joe named Joe Mata throughout his entire life. Joe, we call him Joe. Comes back from college after college, says.
Jamie
You know what, guys?
Dan
I really never like the name Joe. Can you call me Joseph or Joey? Of course, the answer is no.
Jamie
No one's called him. He's Joe.
Dan
You cannot come in late and ask to have your name change.
Dave
That's great.
Jamie
It's a crazy request.
Dan
So it was not granted.
Dave
You are Larry David. You could take Bijan over Chase.
Dan
I would be John Robinson.
Heath
But yeah, I would too.
Dave
Look, here's the thing. There's no way running backs are going to be pushed up so much that you're not going to like any of the running backs available at the 2, 3, turn. It just. And even if you like wide receivers so much, if the running backs are being pushed up, that means Bowers or McBride plus a great wide receiver could be available at the 2, 3, turn. I don't know. Just take who you like better.
Jamie
But that, but that's, that's, that's. I think the point is that if he knows that and he wants to guarantee himself to get maybe McConkey or maybe Drake, London, maybe T. Higgins. You know, these guys that fall that are borderline top 10 receivers like to get. I don't know if you want to go Robinson, London, but whatever the case may be like, you know, you know you're guaranteeing those receivers because you not going to have Chase Brown and Bucky Irving, Kyron Williams and. And Jacobs and Taylor there. Like you should know your league. So if you know the way your league is going to draft, if you have Chase and Robinson close, then you take Robinson and get two stud wide receivers coming back or the tight end like you said. Right.
Dave
Dave, this question's for you from Show. You're right. Thoughts on Breeze hall in a non PPR league. I just traded for him.
Heath
I think he's a number two running back at best. I'm very nervous about just how much work he'll get. Not only will he share with another runner, probably Braylon Allen, but we know that Justin Fields is going to bogart some opportunities near the goal line. Bree sounded a little down about knowing that he's not their guy, referring to his coaches on his own team and the front office on his own team. Maybe that means that he's going to have something to prove this year and I would like that. But we know that his track record is that. That A he gets injured a little bit and B his only great games are when he gets a lot of volume. And I mean a lot of volume. And I don't know how many games there will be this year where the jets can afford to give him a lot of volume. So I'm trying to get him much closer to his floor. I'm thinking round four and I'm thinking he's around RB17, somewhere in that range.
Dave
Next question. Daniel, who is your 101?
Dan
It's a tough question.
Heath
Didn't you just answer this?
Dan
No, I. I was more on the Bija. It's probably not Bijan for me. Bijan, I mean.
Jamie
Sorry, I thought. You're barking what I thought you're a Barkley guy.
Dan
Just say I've come off Barkley a lot due to you.
Jamie
You.
Dan
You've made good cases, as have others. I. I think there's too much risk. I. I think I'll take the coward's way out and take Chase.
Dave
There you go, Henry or hn.
Jamie
It's the cows way out.
Dan
But I mean look, it's a good way to. I'm debating Lamb though. Let me keep that in mind Henry or H.N.
Dave
We like H.N. better. Nico or Brian Thomas Jr. In a keeper league.
Heath
Nico.
Dan
Nico.
Jamie
I like both of them.
Dave
Danny boy, Just put that one up.
Dan
Calling Jamie and Dave. By the way, I'm going to need you both to give. Not today, so think about this but a spread on the Adam Dan tennis match. I'll give you all the context you need. Adam's playing four times a week. I've played.
Dave
No, I haven't. No. All right, we'll give you the actual context, not the exaggerated last question from Aaron.
Dan
Nailed it last year, by the way.
Dave
Scared to draft Ricky Pierasol with his soft, soft tissue issues.
Dan
A lot of injuries on his profile. But I'm not scared yet to draft him. Can't predict injuries.
Jamie
You shouldn't be scared to draft him. I mean, he's going in a spot where he's not going to be a starter for you. So that's the best thing about him. And even to go back to Juwan Dennings, like if you don't have to start these guys, you know, look, if there was, there was some scenarios at least in our drafts, I'm sure anybody doing best ball for sure. Like you were drafting Jennings mostly, but Jennings and Pearsall as a starter in three weeks, like at this point, like I think they're both going to fall to where there may be flex options for you, but more like high end reserve. Certainly in two receiver leagues they're going to be reserves. Like there's so much upside for both these guys if they're healthy. Hopefully that's the case. Pierce also go ahead of Jennings at this point. So don't know. Don't be scared. All right.
Heath
It's very rare for a 49ers receiver under Kyle Shanahan to average seven targets per game and average 15 PPR points per game. I agree with Jamie sentiment that the the ADP is right on Piersall, but I wouldn't have big breakout expectations for him.
Dave
Okay. And I would also just point out that lad McConkey had a pretty serious injury history going into his rookie year and maybe Pierce Halls is worse, but you just, you never, especially if you're just using a later latest pick, you never want to eliminate a guy because of injuries. All right, thank you so much, everybody. For Dave and Jamie and Danny, I'm Adam. We'll talk to you on Monday with another episode of fantasy football. I didn't even hear it. Did not even hear it. Another episode of Fantasy football today. Have a great weekend and thanks so much for contributing to the draft a thon. See you later.
