This is Fantasy Football TODAY from CBS Sports.
A
What A play. Can you believe this? No, I can't.
C
It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
A
Off to the races and he stays at his feet. This is gonna go the distance.
C
Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
A
It is Monday, March 23rd. Welcome, everybody, to Fantasy Football Today. Adam, Dave, Jamie, Heath going through the draft that we talked about on Wednesday, but this is part two, because Wednesday we only got through the first five rounds. If you want to hear that show, that was Ken Walker going with the third pick of round two, Ashton Genty. Later in the round, we talked about everybody who was affected in some way, shape or form by free agency or trades. We talked about Garrett Wilson. Talked a lot about him in round six or, sorry, a sixth pick of round three ahead of AJ Brown and T. Higgins. And then we got to Jalen Waddle, who had just been traded to the Denver Broncos. Good morning, Jamie.
D
Good morning.
A
Good morning, Dave.
E
What's up?
A
Good morning, Heath.
F
Hey, Adam.
A
You're. This is Fantasy Football Today history. The first time that all four of us have had our favorite team eliminated on the same day. Eliminated from the postseason on the same day. Heath.
F
It was.
A
Yeah, it was fun, but, yeah. Kind of. Kind of crazy, I guess. It's not really possible because, like, I don't know if any of us root for a team in.
F
In.
A
I don't know if there's a sport where we all have a team.
F
Well, but in this one, two of us have the same team. So it was really just three teams losing, right?
A
Yeah.
D
Right.
A
Yeah. But even still, like, we all.
D
Dan was wearing his Wisconsin jersey on his teacher on our last show.
A
At least we made it to the second round.
D
Yeah.
A
We don't have a football. Not everybody here has a football team or. Not everybody here is Heat. Do you consider yourself a Heat fan, Jamie?
D
I guess so.
A
Okay, so we all have an NBA team today.
E
Who's my NBA team?
A
The Bulls.
D
Really?
A
Yeah. Heath is Kansas. Somebody asked us. Heath, Missouri. No, Heath is Kansas. We got Miami. We got Florida, and we all. We all got. Got to throw out our bracket. Oh, no. Our brackets might be okay. Anyway, hope everybody's. Yeah. Not Jamie's. Hope everybody's been enjoying the tournament so far and, you know, hopefully you're competing. We had about a thousand entries. Let's get to the show. And Dave took Jalen Waddle with the ninth pick of round three. And that was the first time we did a draft. It was the. I think the day after the trade. It was the first time we got to See, it was the day of the trade.
E
It was literally like 60 minutes after the trade.
D
Remember we did our emergency podcast right before the the draft started.
A
Right. We did the pot. We did the podcast talking about it the day after the trade. But Dave, we thought a little too early. 3.9 for, for Jaylen Waddle. What do you think?
E
Well, I, I think if I could do it again, there might have been one receiver that I would have taken ahead of Waddle when I ended up taking Waddle. But I, I love this fit. Waddle in Denver, he gives them something that they miss sorely over the last couple of seasons. I think about Bo Nix and what is he best at? It's getting the ball out quickly. It's his mobility, short area, accuracy. We've seen Waddle dominate there before. They can use him that way, but they can also use him on intermediate in breaking routes. He can be used on downfield throws. I went back and watched this film from 2025. He can still run, he can still cut. He's still a very, very good wide receiver. I fully expect him to be Denver's number one wide receiver. I don't love Denver's run game and I, I, I, I think about the defenses now in the AFC West. Who's the best cornerback in the AFC
A
west right now that's not on his team?
E
Well, go ahead, give me, you can say Pat Sartan because that's on his team. Who's second best? Chiefs just unloaded their guys.
A
Raiders don't have someone on the Chargers.
E
Yeah, I mean I, I think there's going to be ample opportunity for Waddle to bounce back in the eyes of fantasy managers. We're looking for catches, we're looking for yards, we're looking for touchdowns. I'm a little leery about how many touchdowns he'll get, but I, I think he's got upside to get 85 plus catches, well over a thousand yards. Call it seven touchdowns. If the season goes as well as again. And he's got the same type of flaws that we would say about Mike Evans where we, we don't know if he's going to play 17 games. We know that he's got an injury history, so would I take him in the exact same spot? I, I can't say that I would if we did it again, but it's close and I think he's definitely in the range of at minimum around 4 pick if it's full PPR.
F
So I wasn't in this draft but like end of round four, how many what, what wide receiver is that?
A
Well, wait, end of round three, where
E
he went in round three.
F
Yeah. How, how many wide receivers have been taken at that point?
E
This was also part of the reason why I took Waddles, because a lot of the guys that I had queued up that I would have taken over, Waddle got picked. I would have taken Garrett, Wilson, Rice winning early round threes. A. Flowers went in early middle round three. A.J. brown, T. Higgins. I was on the fence about.
A
He was, he was, he was wide
F
receiver 18, wide receiver 18. Some frame of reference in terms of where I got him in the early projections and maybe a couple of spots like I probably got them closer to 22. But the interesting thing will be we've seen Sean Payton kind of function in a couple different ways and now he's not really technically calling the offense. So is this going a. Maybe he is. Is this going to be a typical spread the ball around to 93 different guys or is it going to be one guy gets 130 targets? I think with Sutton still there, it's probably more of a spread the ball around. So I'm about 10 catches lower than what Dave said and one touchdown lower. 75 for 10, 50, 1100 yards, six touchdowns.
A
Yeah. Dave, my last follow up here and then we can move on. Is you don't seem concerned about Cortland Sutton. You want to. Is that accurate?
E
I don't think the Broncos gave up what they gave up to have somebody as a 1B to Cortland Sutton as the 1A.
F
No.
E
And I'm certainly, and I'm certainly not concerned about Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant, all those other guys. I think Waddle's going to be the target leader in Denver.
A
Yeah, no, I, I, I think we think that, but it'd be more like is Sutton going to be the 1B to waddles? 1A, you know, is he going to prevent Waddle from getting even 120 targets or certainly 130 targets?
F
No, no, no.
A
Okay.
E
I think, I think the biggest area where Sutton can affect Waddle is touchdowns.
A
Yeah.
D
I think you nailed it, Adam. That's the biggest problem. I have a Waddle.
F
Me too.
A
Okay. Okay. Well, that we, we've talked a lot about Waddle last week, so we'll talk about some other guys today, including the Buccaneers situation with Chris Godwin going with the 11th pick of round six. The packers wide receivers, they lost Romeo Dobbs. Christian Watson went just ahead of Romeo Dobbs, but Jamie, I guess didn't like my Matthew golden pick in round eight. Wandell Robinson was in round five. Before we get to that, just remember, beyond the Box Score has. Dan's not here, so I have to plug something in honor of Dan. Beyond the Box Score has its own YouTube channel now, so just go to YouTube and type in beyond the Box Score. They also obviously have their own podcast feed, which they have had. It's a fantastic show with great information. Beyond the Box Score. And Heath, what's coming up on fft? Dynasty, hopefully Dan.
F
You know, I've been asking him for like a month now to come on FFG Dynasty. Gibbs came on a couple weeks ago. We had a good conversation. We're getting really. I'm scheduling all of the rookie position previews, which will start very, very shortly. Probably as soon as next week. And it's about time to do a Dynasty mock draft as well.
A
Okay, guys, so if we look at. By the way, just tell Dan that if he comes on, he can promote beyond the Box Score. He'll come on.
F
I'll just. Yeah, tell him we can talk Wisconsin and Kansas and Miami and Florida. Be fun.
A
You have to say, like, what was the high point of the game for you? You know, because they lost.
E
That would be.
F
That would be. I. That will be on the list. Except I'll say this was. Adam gave me this question.
A
No, don't. Because I'm not that guy. Like, I wouldn't do that to his face.
F
How about just what has been the high point of the tournament for you?
A
Okay, okay.
E
On a scale of 5 to 12, what would you say was the high point?
A
All right, players affected by free agency or trades. Remember David Montgomery six months ago? It seems like he went to the Houston Texans. He went with the fifth pick of round five. Oh, we did this one. Did we do round five?
D
I think you jumped around a little bit. And then you said we probably should do another show on this draft.
A
I don't remember where we left off. Round five or round six? Damn it.
D
I don't remember either.
A
I will just do round five real quick. Montgomery was in between Trayvon Henderson and Javante Williams. I think we decided we like Javante better than Montgomery, right?
D
Yes, for sure.
A
Okay, but do we like Travion or Montgomery?
F
Was this full pbr?
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
F
I would.
D
I would take the upside of Henderson. I think it depends on your build, though. You know, like, if you need a little bit more of a. A solid floor, I think Montgomery's floor is probably going to be a little bit safer, clearly. But the upside for Henderson Is obvious if he can get the chance to, you know, keep Randre on the sideline and. And show what he did in the few games that Ramandre was injured. But obviously, as we saw down the stretch and in the playoffs, it was the Ramandre show. And that's the fear going into 2025, 2026. Excuse me.
A
Okay. I did not like the Wandale pick at 5 11, of course, but was I. I mean, even that when I asked you guys where you're drafting him, nobody said round five. Now, granted is almost round six.
D
We did say round five.
A
No way.
D
Yeah.
A
Really?
F
Yeah.
A
That was more like full ppr, right?
D
Yeah.
E
Yeah, yeah. This is the range.
F
What. What wide receiver was he?
A
19.
F
That's not true.
A
There was no one pick between Waddle and Wondale.
E
That's.
A
I don't know. I can count for you. Probably around.
F
Pick was a good pick by Dave. Then at the end of a tier,
A
I don't know, late 20s. Okay, fine. You like it? Heath, you like Wandale? 11th pick of round five.
D
He's a wide receiver, 30.
F
Wide receiver, 30. So that. That seems just about right in full PPR, maybe just a tad high.
A
What about Tyler Warren with the next pick? Another guy affected by free agency. Last pick of round five, he went a. He went around and a half after Loveland. Two picks after laporta, three picks before, four picks before Harold Fannon. Dave, Tyler, Warren.
E
It's hard to get. It's hard to discount Warren compared to the. At least compared to Fan. And now with Pittman leaving Indianapolis, I don't know if he's going to be replaced. I'm guessing he's not. And that means Warren is in line to see north of six targets per game. That's the number that I always look for from tight ends. I moved him ahead of Fannin, but it's close between the two of them, both of them behind Loveland. Those guys round out my top five tight ends. I don't have a problem with either Warren or Fannin in late round five.
D
This one we did discuss because Dan took laporta and that felt just a little too soon. I don't. I don't mind if you like LaPorta better than Warren or Fan. And as we discussed, you could probably have waited around to get LaPorta knowing that Warren and Fanon were still on the board. Right.
A
All right, so let's get to round six. And Chuba Hubbard was the fifth pick of round six. I don't think we talked about him much, and obviously Rico Dowdle is off the team. Going to Pittsburgh, we have Chuba Hubbard and Basil Tutin and Jakory, Crosby, Merritt going back to back to back and RJ Harvey, who's also affected by the Broncos bringing back JK Dobbins. So it's a, it's a running back run in Round six, and again it's it's Chuba Hubbard, Basil Tutin, Jacori, Crosby, Merritt and RJ Harvey. Tucker Kraft was in the middle of that as well, but just four picks out of five were these running backs Hubbard, Tutin, Crosby, Merritt, RJ Harvey. Gonna get your opinion on this when we come back. We're gonna take our first break and come back with the running backs in Round six after this. On Fantasy Football today, what if sports

Hubbard, fifth pick of round six. Then Basil Tutin, then Tucker Craft, then Jakory, Crosby, Merritt, then and then RJ Harvey. All four of these running backs had their values change last week or shortly before that. But what do you think about this group here, Chuba Tutin jcm RJ Harvey.
D
I took Albert. I was very excited to get him there. You know, at least as of now. We'll see what happens after the draft. But you know, again, losing Rico Dowdle not really adding anything at this point. You know, maybe, maybe they're hoping Jonathan Brooks comes back and is is that guy and that could clearly be a significant factor for Hubbard. But that seems like a big ask at this point. So look, 2024, he was awesome. 2025, he was a disaster because of Rico Dowdle. And I think, you know, the offensive line upgrades that they made are going to be significant. This offense was certainly trending in the right direction last year because of Bryce Young. So I don't think he's going to end up being around 6 pick. To be honest with you. If he's the starter for the Panthers going into the season, he'll probably move up around. But this is the range for these type of guys. I mean, you're talking about low end RB2s. Swift was probably a steal at this point. You know where you got him. But Tutin could clearly improve his draft stock if he opens the season ahead of Chris Rodriguez. We spent some time talking about that last show just in terms of who will end up being the best running back for Jacksonville. Crosby. Merrick's got a lot of competition. You know, you look at the addition of Rashad White, you look at the bringing back of Jeremy McNichols, like these are guys I think that are going to really impact what he does. But if you're going to swing for the fence, I think he's a, he's one of those guys. I don't know if I would do it here, but he's one of those guys. And then look, R.J. harvey was miserable when, when J.K. dobbins was healthy through the first 10 games of the season. He had a couple of games where he scored touchdowns and that saved him much better as a fantasy running back in the latter half of the season. But I don't think he ran the ball very well. I think that was pretty obvious. So as long as Dobbins is healthy, you're going to have a problem with RJ Harvey. But when Dobbins potentially misses time, Harvey will still be the, the guy that they lean on unless of course they go out and add somebody else. So for now, this is okay spot for Harvey for me. But to me, Hubbard was the after Swift was, was the guy I was targeting end up drafting him and was was very happy to get him.
A
Anybody think that in that group, someone should go ahead of Chuba Hubbard, whether it be Tooton, Corey crosky, merit or R.J. harvey.
E
It's in pencil for me. But Tutin is a spot ahead of Hubbard. Just thinking about would I rather have the lead running back in Jacksonville or the lead running back in Carolina. And it's, it's just, it's. I'm making it simple and we'll see if it stays that simple after the draft. But it's very clear that like if Chuba Hubbard is the main back, he's always been good when given the touches and that goes back to 2024. You can even find examples of it in 2023 when he gets opportunities, he can put up fantasy points. And Jamie's right. If, if we get to the start of training camp and Carolina really hasn't done anything with their backfield, super easy to click on Chuba Hubbard and then even get Jonathan Brooks with a late pick if you want.
A
Heath, any thoughts?
F
No, I think what, what Jamie said about, about Brooks, like there have been some reports that they are pretty excited about him. I'm not sure that I agree that Chuba's always been when it good when he got touches. He was, he was pretty mediocre at times last year and there's a reason like Rico Dowdle was incredible. But Also Chuba averaged 3.8 yards per carry on the same team and the, the games before he got hurt, it was much worse than that. So I, I think we have kind of a small sample size of him being like a awesome lead back. And if Brooks is okay, I think it's probably a committee.
D
I, I would say and maybe this is where Dave was going. I don't think Chuba's a good running back. I think Chuba is a good fantasy running back when he gets touches.
A
One of the things about Dowdle looking at the last two. Two years, my interpretation of his game log. Dowdle beats up on. Has beaten up on really bad run defenses two straight years and the two games that Chuba Hubbard missed were Miami and Dallas. And Dallas at that point had a horrible run defense and Dowdle just, just dominated them. Right. And I just wonder what, what his yards per carry was if you remove those gain. I, I don't know. I'll try to figure it out. But yeah, I mean he averaged.
E
We can figure it out. And it's going to be bad.
A
No, I don't know if it's going to be bad. But he averaged. Gosh, he averaged 9 yards per carry against Miami and 6.1 against Dallas. So it would be funny to see just what the gap is if you remove those two games that Chuba Hubbard didn't have the opportunity because he faced Jacksonville and New England among, you know, in the first four games of the year, the two very good run defense, plus Arizona and Atlanta. I'm rambling. Okay, so that's those four running.
E
Can I give one last stat on Chuba?
A
Yeah, yeah.
E
Last two years, he's had 20 games where he's had at least 14 touches and he's been over 15 PPR points in 12, 20. And you think 12 of 20. That sucks. Well, 50 is usually pretty good. In fantasy, this is 60. And you're drafting them in round, late round five or round six. Where the hell are we? We didn't know when we started the show. We don't know now what round we're in. So wherever we're drafting Cuba Hubbard, if it's a. If it's a middle round pick, which is what we're sort of thinking, I think that's a really good value if he's going to give us 60% return when he gets 15 plus touches a game.
A
I think Rico Dowdle, based on the math I just did while Dave was talking, averaged 3.8 yards per carry without those two games that Chuba Hubbard missed. And Chuba Hubbard averaged 3.8 yards per carry last year. All right, moving on. We are still in round six. We have Chris Godwin with the 11th pick of round six. Good value, bad value, average porridge. Just right. What do we think?
D
Just right.
A
What do you guys like better? A Mecca. Buka. Where did he go?
D
Round four.
A
Round four. Oh, right. That was. We really liked that pick. I think we would be comfortable taking him around.
D
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
So let's say late round three.
D
That was actually the one. I was surprised Dave did not take where he took that.
E
And that's the guy that I wish I could. If I could go back in time, number one, I wouldn't have Florida in my final four. Number two, Auka would have been my pick over waddle.
A
All right, so what's a better pick, A Booka at the three, four turn or Godwin at the six, seven turn?
E
Ameca.
A
Okay, Rashad.
F
Jacoby Myers, who at one pick after Godwin.
A
Jacoby Myers.
D
Yeah.
A
Wait, what was your question said I
F
think I'd rather have Jacoby Myers who went one pick after Godwin.
A
You'd rather have him than Godwin?
F
Correct.
A
Dave. Jamie Godwin or Jacoby Myers?
E
A Godwin for me, I'm starting to get the feeling that Tampa is going to be like the Bengals and the Cowboys from last year where their defense just isn't going to be very good and their offense is going to be forced into a lot of pass heavy game scripts. And so I'm going to prioritize getting some bucks. Bass catchers.
A
Does it matter to you at all that in the last four games of the season when everyone was healthy, that's Godwin Evans, blah blah blah, that got actually out targeted Abuka, that matter. Okay, no.
D
You're saying matter for Godwin or matter for Abuka?
A
For both of them.
D
I mean I, I just think everything is, is completely different now with Evans gone. So yes, like I love the value for both, to be honest with you. Like I love the value for Abuka in round four. I shouldn't say I love that. I think that's just right for Godwin. The thing about the Jacksonville situation just makes me a little nervous with Myers. He could be the best of their four guys or he'd just be one of their four guys and I don't know like how early I want to buy into any of them to be honest with you, you know. So you see Thomas in round six, you see Myers in round six where Parker Washington go was probably a little later I would assume and, and Travis Hunter was just a late round flyer which he should be at this point. But if they are going to use him and Brenton Strange then it just becomes like so many mouths to feed in this offense that you'll get some good performances. But I think at best you're talking about if everybody stays healthy and on the team, assuming Thomas isn't traded, that they're at best number three receivers whereas Godwin could to me jump back into that wide receiver two tier.
F
And I think that like the experience we've had with Godwin, where he had the year where he was playing coming off the injury and was really not very good and then we saw that again last year and the hope is that he bounces back. The only question I have is now he's 30 and it's another injury on top of it. Does he, does he bounce back?
A
Okay, all right, so let's go to round seven now. We just did rounds five and six. Round seven has a lot of guys who were affected in some way by free agency or trades. Rashad White was the first pick of round seven.
D
This we talked about when you asked us our favorite and least favorite picks.
A
We didn't like it. Corland Sutton, the third pick of round seven. Well, we could just look at the wide receivers here because we have five wide receivers in this round that are part of this discussion. Sutton, then Alec Pierce, Christian Watson, Ricky Piersall, and Romeo Dobbs. Sutton, Pierce, Watson, Piersoll and Romeo Dobbs. Dave, who's the. Who are the top two in that group for you? Sutton, Pierce, Watson, Pierce, all Dobbs, Watson and Pierce.
F
Are you skipping a couple of them on purpose?
A
Who am I skipping?
F
I show. Michael Wilson went right after Sutton.
A
Oh, yeah. I was only looking at guys affected by free agency or trades. I didn't. Oh, are we talking like, what's.
F
No, no, I was. I mean, Michael Wilson might be, but in what sense?
A
That they got rid of Kyler, who
F
is a score wreck.
A
Well, it's Brissette, isn't it?
F
I mean, honestly, that seems very non committal at this point.
A
Okay, it's fine. I. Honestly, I just. I felt like this was kind of difficult because that you could make the case for, so I had to eliminate some players from.
F
Okay. Okay.
A
So.
F
Okay.
A
Yeah, I know.
F
I was. I thought you listing all the wide receivers taken in that round. I wasn't trying to be.
A
No, no, I understand. I was just listing the wide receivers that were more affected by the news of recent weeks.
G
Yeah.
A
So it's. So, Dave, you said what? I'm sorry, what the hell did you say?
E
Well, hold on. First of all, Kendrick Bourne went to Arizona, so maybe that qualifies Michael Wilson to be in this conversation.
F
Somebody go to Pittsburgh with DK Metcalf?
A
Was Metcalf in this? Oh, my notes. I didn't. I stopped it. I'm sorry. I stopped at Dobbs. I didn't read Metcalfe. He's in my notes. No, thank you. He's in my notes. I'm sorry I missed him. All right, so it's six guys. It's. It's. Let's. Let's go three by three. Okay. Sutton, Pierce, Watson. Do we like Sutton, Alec Pierce and Christian Watson in this range?
E
Yeah, not all three of them, but at least one of them.
F
I have them almost back to. Back to back in the 30s, so I think they're. I think they're probably better values at this point than Wanda. Listen.
A
Well, everyone is, but, Dave, what were your thoughts on. On Sutton, Pierce, Watson?
E
Watson's my favorite of the three. I know that there's some serious downside because of injuries with him, but he showed last season that he can be a number one wide receiver addition by subtraction in Green Bay with Dobbs leaving for New England. There's hope now that Watson can finally be a solid volume earner and we know what he can do as a downfield receiver. This is easily a great time in fantasy drafts to take chances with players that have huge upside. And I think Watson probably has the most of it. Of all the receivers that we're talking about in this range, Pierce comes just behind him. That's based more on. We've seen a lot of him making those big splash plays. Plus the Colts are keeping them. Plus the Colts are keeping Daniel Jones. He did some good work with Daniel Jones and with Pittman gone, maybe the targets go up. I, I feel a little bit better about Watson than I do Pierce, but I wouldn't be sad if somebody else took Watson first and I got Alec Pierce as the second receiver in this group in round seven. I think this is a good time to target high upside wide receivers. This is the round for it. And these are the first two receivers that you should go after.
A
Yeah, I think one of the things that I, I felt I wish I had taken Christian Watson. If you remember the story, I was getting my kids off the bus and I called Jamie and told them to pick between two receivers and one of them was not Christian Watson. But if I had really thought about that, that is the guy I would have taken there. And I think, Jamie, did you end up.
D
Yeah.
A
You did take Watson?
D
I did, yes. So I didn't offer that suggestion when you called me.
A
By the way, you take Watson in every draft?
D
Yeah, I have so far. Almost all of our off season ones for Dave and Heath that weren't on the show. Anybody listening for the first time? Adam called me. The bus.
A
Can.
D
Can you draft any of Sutton or Rick? Ricky. Yeah, Rick. Ricky Piercel. You gotta go by. And then Andrew goes, daddy, did you pee yourself?
A
Oh, yeah, right, exactly. You know, I'm in tennis shape, Jamie. I did a little better than that. I think, you know, you gotta. To me, I was like, man, the guys I pick here, I could see some of them. I could see cutting in three weeks. I don't know how you guys feel, but.
D
Yeah, well, the guy Dan took.
F
Yeah, I think three weeks would be too early. They're not gonna play any games.
D
Who Dan take Xavier Worthy.
A
Xavier Worthy, right. I mean, there's just, there's a lot of downside. Once we've been talking about how bad wide receiver feels. Well, now we're in the 30s, so. All right. The next group was, was after Sutton, Pierce, Watson. It's Pierce all Dobbs, Metcalf, Pearsall, Dobbs and Metcalf and Michael Pittman went in the eighth round. So a pretty big downgrade for, for those guys going at the very end of round seven into the eighth round. But Heath, Piersaw, Dobbs, Metcalf, do they belong in this range?
F
I think they probably do. I'm the most excited about DK Metcalf and the least about Pittman.
A
Oh, I wasn't including him, but I
D
don't think Dobbs stays in this round. If we get to August and they don't make another move at receiver.
A
That's my question. It's like, do you think that Dobbs is capable of being more than what he's been? And this is, this is much more. I mean, drafting him in the top 36, basically. He's never been a guy that you can rely on for more than, I don't know, a four to five week stretch and then he's never been in
D
this situation though before.
A
Right, but is he, but can he, can he elevate to being, you know, must roster, not even a must start. We're not drafting must starts, we're drafting must roster guys here hopefully.
F
Is the Patriots distribution of targets that much different than what the packers has been?
A
I mean, I don't know.
F
It really wasn't. They just spread them all over the
A
place and they're pretty run heavy too.
F
Right.
D
Well, you've illustrated this a lot, Adam, that we saw a lot of wacky game scripts for the Patriots last year. I think based on their schedule and so more competitive games, more throwing from Drake May. This is the guy that they went out and got so far. Maybe the only guy that they're going to get in terms of, you know, on the high end side. So unless we're expecting more from Keisha Booty and Kyle Williams and you know, maybe Hunter Henry, like this is the guy I think that's stepping into Stefan Diggs role and hopefully elevating to a higher level.
F
Holy jsn.
A
What?
D
They got a big deal.
A
Oh, he did.
E
I did.
F
Oh, the biggest deal.
A
I don't know if this matters. So. So first six games of the year, Romeo Dobbs did not have Christian Watson and I don't think he had Jaden Reed. Right. Jaden Reed got hurt really early.
D
I think it was week two. Yeah.
A
So his. He was only on pace for 102 targets in those games. Romeo Dobbs, which is exactly what Stefan Diggs had in 17 games last year. But he was on pace for 11 touchdowns, 68 catches, 867 yards, 11 touchdowns on 102 targets. I mean my, my point is on the packers with a, with a very good quarterback, not Drake May didn't have Christian Watson, didn't have Jaden Reed. Matthew Golden's doing nothing. Tucker Crafts was doing a lot, I guess, but still not getting a ton of target. And he still was only getting about six targets a game. Oh, I don't know. But again, that's not so bad at this point in the draft at wide receiver. All right, so it's Piersol, Dogs and Metcalf go to the eighth round. Jalen, Warren, Jordan Addison, Michael Pitman, Matthew golden and Josh Downs. Jalen, Warren, Jordan, Addison, Michael Pittman, Matthew Golden, Josh Downs, Dave Some very like. It's hard to compare Warren with the wide receivers. But what do you think about Warren, Addison, Pittman, Golden, Josh Downs?
E
If you're shopping for potential starters, I think Warren still fits that bill. I know that Rico Dowell going to Pittsburgh and joining up with Mike McCarthy, man, that's a good thing for Dowdle. And he could end up displacing Jalen Warren and making Warren a part time back, but there's still a chance for him to be the 1A in Pittsburgh. He's been there a while. He knows that offensive line and what their tendencies are. He's proven that he can work three downs. And you mentioned it, Dowdle had a great, had some great games last year. Came against crappy opponents. I don't know how many crappy opponents the Steelers are going to face this year. I, I still feel like Warren is an okay running back. Whether he's your RB3 or someone you just want to carry on your bench. When it's round eight and you're looking for running backs like that, it feels like gold. And so I don't, I don't mind Warren being in this group at all.
A
How about the wide receivers? Jamie Addison, Pittman, golden and Downs?
D
I mean Addison again, very similar to Justin Jefferson. When Carson Wentz was starting last year, in three of the four starts they were together, he was over 15 PPR points. His career suggests that he's been good when he's had good quarterback play. So you're hoping Kyler Murray is going to be a good quarterback for this team and that Jordan Addison can also be elevated similar to the way Justin Jefferson is going to get elevated. So I think it's a good spot to take a chance on him. Obviously there's a lot of debate of Pittman going to Pittsburgh and what role he'll play for Aaron Rodgers and he might be better than DK Metcalf just because of how Rogers operates from a target standpoint, it's not a bad spot to take a chance on him. You know, I don't like the golden pick at all and why. Yeah, I just think you could have got him a little bit later. So if you're going to take a chance on him still, like we, we've talked, I don't know enough, but we certainly talked a lot about it when the, the move happened. Like Josh Downs has a chance to, you know, ascend with the Pitman absence. I think Parker Washington showed that he could be the go to guy for Jacksonville. I understand what you're saying, why you're taking him here. You know, if we're piggybacking off the previous round with some of the wide receivers we talked about and I don't mind taking a chance on going. I just, I think he could have waited a little bit. So. Okay, it just in, in this range of guys, I, I, there's just a few other receivers that I prefer, even some guys that went, you know, after him. So. But I, I guess again, if you're shooting just for upside, you want to make sure you get your guy. Get your guy. But in terms of the other receivers in this round, I like the value for Washington, I like the value for Downs just a little bit better.
A
Fair enough. And that would be round eight. Round eight. Round seven. No, Round eight. Yes. I was right the first time. And we're gonna take a break and come back with what's after round eight? I don't know. We'll figure it out during the break. We'll be right back. We'll talk about J.K. dobbins and Zach Charbonnet, Enrico Dowdle and James Conner and Tyler Algier. They all went in round nine. We'll be right back on fantasy football today.

A
We are back. Round 9 J.K. dobbins, Zach Charbonnet, Rico Dowdle, James Conner and Tyler Algier. Five running backs affected by free agency or trades. Dobbins, Charbonnet Dowdle, Connor Algier. Then we have Darnell Mooney, the wide receiver that fits this mold in this round. Heath man, J.K. dobbins. You know, he was such a good pick, basically two years in a row with the Chargers, with the Broncos. Now we're getting. I mean, a guy who's going to step into the lead role in the. In the ninth round, in theory, I guess. What do you think about this? Is this a great pick?
F
I think it's a. An appropriate pick. Maybe he could go a round earlier. I think there's a. There's good reason to think that in Harvey's second year that he'll have a larger split of the work than he did when Dobbins was healthy. And Dobbins is another year older and another injury piled on top, so the risk is just a little bit greater. So I. I don't think I'd call it a great pick, but I've got him right around RB30, which seems like this is probably about what that is.
A
Dave, is there a great pick in this group of Dobbins, Charbonnet, Rico Dowdle, James Connor, Tyler Algier.
E
I imagine that multiple running backs in this range will go at least around higher by the time we get to August. And if I had to throw darts at those running backs, I would guess that Dobbins will be one of them and Tyler Algier will be another. And it's just the fact that Dobbins played well last year when given the opportunity. Yeah, there. There's concerns about him staying healthy, but he's 27 years old and he'll be potentially the 1A in that Denver backfield. We'll see how he is by the time training camp starts. Algier could be the 1A in Arizona's backfield. It's not a great place to be. Arizona's offense kind of shaky right now and their offensive line isn't great, but this team added him. Connor's back, but we know that he's on the wrong side of 30, 31 years old coming into the year. If you just draft Algier and you wait for Connor to miss some time. I know Trey Benson's still there. I don't know if he's going to stay there. I think Algier can end up being a big time steal as a mid round pick.
D
To me, it's Charbonnet. If he's healthy, you get any positive reports, he's going to jump like three rounds for sure.
E
Yeah, we won't see him there. If he's ready to go for the start of the season and the Seahawks are done addressing their running back room, of course he's going to go higher.
A
I just wanted and worth the pick, by the way. I just wanted Jamie to like one of my picks finally.
D
Oh, I, I thought that was great selection, you know, especially given the way that you built your team. I'm, I'm actually proud of you. You didn't, you didn't get excited about taking a quarterback too soon, so you waited on that position. You waited on tight end. You did a good job.
A
I did.
D
Wait outside.
A
Ed.
F
Yeah.
E
I want to just ask this question. If we get to August and Charbonnet is still on the PUP list, it Is this where you take them? Is this the right spot to take a guy that we stash on IR for the first four weeks of the season and then see what happens?
F
Who else is on the team? Are we stashing him on IR because we think when he comes back he's definitely going to be the starting running back or are we stashing him on IR because we think he's coming back to the same role he had last year?
E
I'm assuming that he'll be a part time back in the role that he had last year with a rookie or Emmanuel Wilson as the other back that he shares with?
A
Well, I, I think for me drafting Charbonnet here, it's like, is there a player on the board that I feel like I can't miss, that I feel like I have to have. And I didn't really feel that way, you know, and, and I felt like Charbonnet, sure, I'll put him in I.R. maybe he'll miss, maybe he'll miss half the season. But I felt like he could definitely be. I don't know about a league winner. Look, I don't know what to expect. You know, he's not, it's not like he's just going to come back and be Zach Sharpening. I'm very fearful of guys coming off major injuries, but could, could really be a big time contributor to my fantasy team and I, I don't know that I felt that way about anyone else. Obviously there are, there are guys that could get there with an injury like a Blake Corum or what you just said about Tyler Algier or Kyle Menangai or whatever. But, but Charbonnet seemed like an easy pick because I just didn't love the board.
D
I think to your point there though, and whatever running back you put there, we talked about this with your build on the last show, you went three running backs with your first four picks. Then you went very heavy wide receiver. So so far your team is all running backs and wide receivers. You're taking a shot on a league winner right now. If you're going with the idea of I'm waiting on tight end and quarterback. So what was the smart pick for you? And I think taking that fourth running back there after you already have five wide receivers, I'm assuming in your mind you feel pretty good about now your receiving core after building it out a little bit. So now, okay, who's the player that could be a difference maker for me and so whether it's Manangai because of a swift injury or Corum or you know, whatever, you know, Cardinals running back you like the best. Charbonnet to me is right in that conversation because if he's right again, we're doing this draft in March. If he's right, you know, you may have stole the draft, you know, so like that's the type of player you want to take whoever you, you associate to being that player, you know, that's the type of swing you take.
F
I, I probably would have hated because I think when you didn't have a tight end, it's unlikely we're still there. But then you got likely around later so it didn't end up mattering.
A
Oh yeah. And I was doing the draft going, please give me like, give me like, give me like, give me like a, you know, look, you look at the draft board and you see that just about everyone has, has a tight end. What would you say? Oh, okay. You see the draft board, just about everyone has a tight end and you just have to hope that no one takes a second tight end. And then the kiddo manager Thomas took pits, which makes sense. So if you're doing this, you got to remember the Kittle manager is going to need a second tight end anyway. Whatever. We'll talk about likely in a minute. Let's keep going. Darnell Mooney talked about that with Dan. I didn't like to pick. He. Dan made a good case for Darnell Mooney to have a bounce back season. He went with the 10th pick of round nine. We go to round 10. We got Kenneth Gainwell here. Kenneth Gainwell, Chris Rodriguez.
F
I like that pick from Dan Rodriguez.
A
What about the Gainwell pick? Do you like that?
F
Not as I do.
A
All right, he went with the first pick of round 10. Then. Then Rodriguez went with the third pick of round 10. Then we have Jalen Naylor now of the Raiders in the eighth pick of round 10. Then Aaron Jones. And then Jordan Mason went three picks after Aaron Jones. Who you guys take first?
F
Probably Jones.
E
Jones.
A
And then we had Isaiah Likely. And I just say I took Likely and I took Kelsey with my next pick.
F
Perfect.
A
Yeah. Oh, no. I took Kelsey two picks later.
F
Perfect.
E
Even better.
F
You've got the floor covered. You've got the ceiling covered. Outstanding.
A
Oh, thank you.
F
Well done.
A
But a tight end who went in between those two was Mark Andrews. Do you guys think Mark Andrews gets a boost with Likely gone?
E
Sure, maybe.
F
But it needs to be a really, really big boost.
A
Yeah. Kelsey, you know, Kelsey was, I think the number three tight end last year, but that's overall per game, he was number nine.
F
And this is part of the reason that I'm having a harder time with these round four, five second tier tight ends. And even round six is if we're gonna have pits available in round nine and likely available in round 10 and Kelsey available in round 12, those guys are gonna have to be really, really good to be worth six rounds over the guys you can get later.
A
Additionally, Heath, if we keep saying wide receivers weak and maybe it won't be right. But if, and this is a three receiver league, I just, I need to get some good wide receivers. Now.
F
People are going to think we're insane saying that tight end is deeper than wide receiver, but that is the way looking at this draft board. Like I for a while was thinking, man, do I just want to take wide receivers the first three rounds and then take running backs for three rounds and then start figuring things out? Because the wide receivers really after around 5 or 6 are pretty gross.
A
And this you're talking to someone who took a wide receiver, Jamar Chase in round one and then Chase Brown, Josh Jacobs, Bucky Irving. But I didn't want to do that. I just felt like I couldn't pass up those values. But no, I, I mean, right, like I have that issue with tight End. It's like I have. I can't be so weak at wide receiver to take a tight end when there's such a history of us reaching for tight ends who give us a glimmer of hope the year before and then we take them too high. It just seems to happen so much. All right, sorry. Back to Jalen. Jalen Naylor, 10th round, good or bad?
E
It's fine.
F
I don't have much hope for Jalen Naylor. Sorry, Eric.
A
Okay, we've got to the 11th round. Emmanuel Wilson now of the Seahawks. Mark Andrews, Jalen McMillan, Jaden Reed. So these are more guys who are. This is like Godwin and Golden, but a few rounds later, McMillan and Jaden Reed. Isaiah Pacheco, Khalil Shakir obviously downgraded Calvin Ridley. This is round 11, David. Oh, sorry, What'd you say?
F
Heathcote could be a great pick.
E
Ridley could be, sure. Why I took him.
A
Why do you say that?
F
Because, like, we. The guy that you hate with all of your guts, Wondale Robinson, we're kind of just assuming he's going to be the number one wide receiver on the Giants, and he was. He's got his head coach and he's earned a lot of targets in the past, but the, the history of Wandale Robinson and Calvin Ridley, and who has more upside is it's been a couple years since we saw it from Ridley, but if Ridley's healthy, he could be the best wide receiver on the Titans.
E
Not that that's going to mean, you know, a league winner, but it could be somebody that you could use as a bye week replacement at wide receiver. And when he's in those matchups against other teams that don't have great defenses, I don't know how many of those that are left in AFC south, that defensive, the defenses in that division are getting pretty good. I, I think that really can be useful as a number three guy. I don't think we're drafting anybody in round 11 to be a starter for our team. Unless it's a quarterback, maybe if it's a tight end that slips. But there's, there's nominal upside. When we were drafting Calvin Ridley before, it was like four rounds higher, even higher than that. And now the value is just it's kind of too good to pass up. And then it's the same argument with every player that you draft around 11. What happens if they stink? Oh, well, you cut them and you find somebody else who cares. It's around 11 pick.
A
All right, we're going to finish up here. I'M just going to throw out a name in the round and you tell me if it's good value or bad value here. Starting in round 12 with Trey Benson. So with the other guys on Arizona, Connor and Alger going late round nine, Benson two and a half rounds later. Is that good value?
E
No.
F
I see other running backs I would rather take.
E
Yes.
A
Alvin Camara was the next pick.
F
He's not one of them.
A
Jonathan Brooks.
E
Camaro would be one of them if we knew he was gonna actually play. Just. You have to downgrade expectations considerably. Brooks is worth the gamble in round
A
12. Who would you have rather taken? Dave Heath. Who were the guys you were thinking of?
F
Brooks was one of the guys for sure. Okay, agreed. I think I'd still say well around later. Woody Marks.
D
Okay.
A
We have Christian Kirk going with the 6 pick of, of round 12. I don't think we're too.
E
He's don't hate it.
A
He's with the 49ers.
E
As bench depth goes. He's, he's okay.
A
Commanders running back or tight end Chigo conquo in round 12.
E
Taking the shot streaming title pick a lot more. Yeah.
A
Which pick?
F
The Kelsey pick. One pick earlier.
A
Okay. Then Hunter Henry went in round 13. Henry was tight end 14 per game last year. Diggs is gone. I think it's probably fine. Woody Marks. He'd mentioned he liked that. That's round 13. K Sean Booty. Round 13 Adonai Mitchell. Round 13 Kyler Murray and Malik Willis. Round 13.
E
Good.
F
I like it.
E
I'm, I'm loving the late round quarterbacks this year. Like the value that's there. And we could start calling the mid to late round quarterback values are going to be so good. There's so many quarterbacks that have upside for fantasy and drafting two of them just makes so much sense and you don't have to spend, you know there's going to be, you know, Knicks that take a quarterback in round one and we've already passed those guys for years anyway. But even if you're taking Josh Allen in round three or Lamar Burrow around four or five, like obviously those are great players and they could be league winners. But I, I took Dak in round eight. We're talking about high upside potential fantasy studs in Kyler Murray and Malik Willis. Yeah, they have their warts but you, you can kind of make a case for them now and you're getting them so late in the draft that like again if they don't hit. So what?
F
I'll find another quarterback with the talk of Murray and Willis. Somebody in the chat was very surprised that Bo Nix was not drafted.
A
Yeah, I think it's a great question to end on here. I don't see Bo Nicks drafted with the Waddle. Where do you rank Bo Nix this year? And Bo Nix was. Was. I think he was QB10 per game last year.
F
I think he led the NFL in pass attempts despite having one of the best defenses in the league, which doesn't really make sense, but yeah, yeah does
E
when you think about that run game for Denver, almost 21 fantasy points per game and six point he was in that group now.
A
He was 12th per game. I'm sorry I said 10. I got him at third. Oh, I think that was maybe in four point. He was 13th per game. But look, he's right there and that was having a bad year. So yeah, he probably should have. I think I would. I definitely take him over Malik Willis now with, with Waddle gone. I know he doesn't have the same rushing upside, but it's not like he doesn't run. But the Dolphins are just the, you know, they're going to be horrible. I. I don't know. I'm taking Knicks over Willis.
E
You know what? You can just wait and take them both.
A
I wouldn't do that. That means I'd have three.
D
Three quarterbacks.
E
No, you don't necessarily have to. If you go just waiting on QB and loading up at every other position. Start the year with Nixon Willis and figure it out from there. I don't think your team's going to totally suck.
F
I. I do think your Purdy pick in round 13 was fantastic also. Yeah, that's.
E
I'd rather have Purdy.
F
You had a fantastic second half.
A
I like the first half too.
F
It was like right after you got told how terrible the Matthew golden pick was.
A
Hey, look, I have Devontae Smith as my number two watch receiver. So when A.J. brown gets traded, I'm going to ask him to play this league out. Thanks to Heath and Jamie and Dave and Thomas, we'll talk to you all on Wednesday on Fantasy Football Today. See you later.
