It was a 12 team PPR league and we'll talk about where the rookies went. Jeremiah Love went in the third round. The next rookie off the board. Take some guesses just in your head. Just guess who you think the next one off the board was. You're wrong. It was Carnell Tate. And then we had A surprise. Three in terms of rookies being drafted. Anyway. Good morning. He's Cummings.

Okay. Anyway, we'll get to the draft in a little bit. We have some. Some news and notes for you. Fifth year options. A little surprising or revealing fifth year option being picked up. Before we do that, though, we'll get to the all the results of the draft. But just a quick starter question. Did your draft approach change after the NFL draft in terms of the strategies you were implementing? Did anything change with this rookie crop? Dave?

Dave (4:09)

Yes, I. I'm gonna. You're gonna accuse me of going back to the old school way of drafting that I came to know and love, but I'm going to do it. I think running backs need to be taken a lot sooner than normal this year. I just don't think there's going to be a lot of good running back talent left by the time we get to not even the middle of the draft. Like, maybe, like, by the end of round six, you're going to look at the running backs left after that, and you might puke on your shoes, and that's not good. I think that getting running backs early just because of how the running backs went in the NFL draft are going to be something that you have to do if you want to feel good about that position. I think this is a bad year to go 0 RB.

Heath (4:51)

Okay. Jamie, did anything change for you?

Jamie (4:57)

No, I. I kind of felt this way. I think a Little bit prior to the NFL draft with some of the drafts we were doing and just sort of looking at how it was going to unfold with the draft class. So, you know, I was a little bit more hopeful, I think, going into the draft that we may get a Mike Washington in a good destination, a Jonah Coleman in a good destination or something like that. And they didn't really land in ideal spots. You know, we got two, I think, starters, one for sure, and Jeremiah Love, and one potential one. I would consider the Darian Price, the number two running back. But we didn't get the influx, at least on paper, that we thought last year, you know, last year, and it didn't work out this way. A couple of, you know, pockets here and there, you know, RJ Harvey at the end, Travion Henderson for a couple weeks, but it didn't. It didn't work out. But at least going into it, we thought, oh, wow, okay, maybe the Patriots have their, their new running back. Maybe the Broncos have their new running back. You know, Genti was obviously somebody we were drafting. Hampton got hurt. But this class, you know, just uninspiring by comparison and certainly uninspiring by destination. So I think Dave's right. I think if you can not necessarily like, over prioritize running back, but I think if you, if you come away with your first four rounds, getting two running backs in that range, I think you're probably in a good spot. You know, I, I'm. I'm a big proponent of hero rb. I think that's worked. It certainly worked well for me. I think it works well overall this year. I'm not opposed to going, you know, two running backs early or earlier. Okay, Heath?

Heath (6:26)

Yeah, I think I was kind of in the three running backs and three wide receivers in the first six rounds before the draft, and that's kind of how I feel now. Feels like wide receiver in round seven and eight might be a little better than what it looked like a month ago.

Jamie (6:44)

Just.

Heath (6:44)

I think those three top three rookie wide receivers are all going to go in that around seven or eight range now, maybe six in some drafts. And so that, that gives us a little bit more depth than then we had at the wide receiver position. But it's. It's still probably. I mean, I'm always going to just kind of, to a certain extent, take what the draft gives me. Yeah, but there's. There's running backs in round five and six that I'm perfectly fine with as starters. So if I end up with three wide receivers early and Then take three running backs. I'm fine with that.

Adam (7:14)

Running backs in rounds five and six that you're fine with as starters. The, the round five running backs were Travion Henderson, Cam Scatter, Boo Quinch on Judkins, Deandre, Swift, Basil Tutin. Round six was David Montgomery, Jadarian Price, Jalen Warren, Tony Pollard, Chuba Hubbard. So Dave, when you look at that group, Trayvon Scatter, Boo, Judkins, Swift, Tutin, Montgomery, Price, Warren Pollard, Chuba Hubbard. Are you comfortable with that group? You just don't want to go any deeper, you know, beyond that to start getting your running backs.

Dave (7:47)

Yeah, I, I agree with Heath. I think those are running backs that are fine as starters to begin the year. I think a couple of those guys might end up going a lot sooner than round five by the time we get to August and that's really about it. Did you name the round seven running backs?

Adam (8:03)

No, that was five and six. Round seven? Yeah. There's a drop off for sure. RJ Harvey, Ramandre Stevenson, then Rico Dowdle in round eight, Kenneth Gainwell. So that's a, that's six rounds basically of not every running back. Because I can't sit here and say that Travion Henderson is going to be a good starter for you.

Dave (8:20)

Nope.

Adam (8:21)

You know, I don't know the status of Scatterboo and Judkins right now, but, but rounds round five and six running backs are not bad. Round seven and beyond gets a little dicey. Obviously there could be some exceptions in there. That's the way this draft played out. This was a 12 team, 3 rece receiver, full PPR league with a flex as well. And I would just say the thing that changed, it didn't change for me in terms of my draft. It almost did. I almost drafted A.J. brown. But just looking at the landscape a little bit, once AJ Brown gets traded to the Patriots, I think it's better. I think we obviously have a better receiver for the Patriots. It's sure it's going to hurt Romeo Dobbs, but whatever. But it's going to help A.J. brown, it's going to help Devonte Smith and I think it's going to help Makai Lemon too, and maybe Dallas Goddard. I think an A.J. brown to the Patriot and it's going to help Drake Bay. I think an A.J. brown to the Patriots trade is, is pretty good for fantasy. Makes our draft board a little bit stronger.

Jamie (9:14)

I personally, I did a little friendship strategy with both those guys.

Adam (9:17)

I saw that. I saw that. How do you feel? Well, you know What? I was. I'll ask you that later. It's in my notes and see how you felt about. Wait, which guys did you do the friendship Strategy with?

Jamie (9:30)

With A.J. brown and Romeo Doves.

Adam (9:32)

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you meant you also did it with Colson Loveland and Luther Burden. Jamie's just, he's a friend to everyone these days.

Dave (9:40)

When you, when it comes to picking

Heath (9:42)

comments, I'm struggling with the. Because I, I, we're kind of just all working on the assumption that A.J. brown's going to be on the Patriots.

Adam (9:49)

Yeah.

Dave (9:50)

A little weird at this point if he wasn't.

Heath (9:53)

When, when you say it's better for him to go to New England, like how high are you thinking you're going to draft him? Because he's been a top 12 wide receiver per game. Pretty much every game every year in Philadelphia.

Adam (10:05)

Yeah, 211. I was on the clock and was, was strongly considering him. Jamie took him at 212, so I think right around there. And honestly wouldn't surprise me.

Heath (10:15)

Which is where, which is later than where he was being drafted last year, right?

Adam (10:19)

Yeah. But it's not later than where he was being drafted. In our mock drafts when we thought he was more likely to stay on Philadelphia, I think people were down on him. I think he has more upside on, on New England than he does on Philadelphia.

Jamie (10:31)

Yep.

Adam (10:31)

Heath (10:34)

I'm not entirely sure I understand the narrative of why that is. Like everybody's in the mode of questioning Jalen Hurts right now and everybody's excited about Drake May being one of the top two quarterbacks in the NFL. And so that makes sense. But I think it's still probably a low volume pass offense and it's still a team. I think most likely the Patriots are going to have less concentrated targets than the Eagles have when A.J. brown's been there.

Jamie (11:04)

I just kind of view him as the same as he would be with the Eagles this year, essentially. You know, so same draft range. I, I think the range of outcomes is different. You know, so I do think if they are going to be as aggressive as they have to be to get him with whatever draft capital they have to give up. Like this is Josh Allen getting Stefan Diggs. This is, you know, I'm trying to think of the other recent examples of, you know, young quarterback.

Dave (11:33)

Here's a recent one. Donovan McNabb getting Terrell Owens.

Jamie (11:37)

Exactly. You know, that type of situation. So any, any time that these teams are, are getting aggressive to go get a player like this, it obviously is to, you know, take a team that went to the super bowl and get them better. But I think it's also to make their young quarterback better. And so, you know, yes, Heath, it's probably more concentrated targets, but this could also be their version of Brown and Smith is Brown and, and Dobbs and hopefully that's, you know, going to make Drake May better and, and obviously keep AJ Brown playing at high level. I do agree with you though. Like, the narrative that he's going to struggle or would struggle in Philadelphia is, is a little overblown. Our buddy, you know, who comes on our show a lot, Jake Sealy, I happen to see on, on Twitter on X, he posted a whole slew of clips of Jalen hurts throwing to A.J. brown over the middle and how it's just a little bit of an overblown narrative that he can't do it, won't do it. So that's a good thing for Makai Lemon as well. But obviously I think you just look at A.J. brown and just say, okay, he's got top 10 upside. He's maybe slips into that 15 to 20 range if things go poorly. But you're drafting him as a borderline number one receiver, which is what I did anyway. I, I was perfectly fine.

Adam (12:47)

Okay. And that's just one more note on that because Jeff Stoutland, their former offensive line coach, went on the Kelsey brothers podcast and they asked him what went wrong with the Eagles and he said, I think anytime things don't go well, and I don't want to sound like I'm in an interview, but it's the truth. It's execution. It's calling the right play at the right time and not running bad plays into bad defenses. I mean, it ain't that hard. I'm not going to sit here and make up all these. That's pretty much it. So talk about the play calling.

Heath (13:18)

Petulo a little bit. All right, enough about the Eagles. Let's get to this mock draft in a bit. By the way, if you, you. I don't even know who won the draft contest. Thomas has been out, but as soon as he comes back, which I think might be tomorrow, we'll let you know who won the NFL draft contest and who's in the podcast league. So if you've been waiting for that, we'll let you know shortly. Hopefully tomorrow. News and notes. The jets are considering signing Russell Wilson to back up Geno Smith. The Lions picked up Jameer Gibbs's fifth year option. The chart. That's not a Surprise the Chargers. Dave though, they picked up Quentin Johnson's Johnston's fifth year option. That's going to pay him about $18 million next year. So that's a nice little vote of confidence for Quentin Johnson, isn't it?

Dave (14:02)

It is and I'm sure they love his speed and, and the other things that he can do. We all got a taste of what that upside is for. QJ in the first four games last year he still wasn't a total train wreck after those first four games. I think he averaged right around 11 PPR points per game. That's a good bench receiver, one of about 30 of them that you'll be able to draft this year.

Adam (14:23)

Okay. Carolina running back Jonathan Brooks says he feels 100. He's got, you know, two ACL tears in recent seasons. Dave starting it is exciting. Dave took Jonathan brooks in round 13. Yeah.

Dave (14:37)

So one of my not going round 13 again.

Adam (14:41)

All right, better value Jonathan Brooks around 13 or Chuba Hubbard with the last pick of round 12.

Dave (14:47)

Chuba Hubbard did not go with the last pick in round 12.

Heath (14:52)

I would say Jonathan Brooks.

Dave (14:55)

I would, I would lean Brooks but I think that's, I think Brooks will probably go closer to around 9:10 and Chupa is going to go in that spot.

Adam (15:04)

Okay, back to the news and notes. Bo Nicks had a second ankle surgery. So his process a little bit delayed here but he's still expected to be ready for training camp. The Steelers put an unrestricted free agent tender on Aaron Rodgers. This will help them get a compensatory pick. If he does not come back, we still expect him to come back to the Steelers. And the Rams apparently had a secret meeting with Ty Simpson. John Breach wrote a good article about this on our website cbs sports.com so we saw the post draft press conference where Sean McVeigh looked like very angry about the Simpson draft pick. But I don't. The reporting indicates that wasn't really the case. That maybe he was just trying to protect Matthew Stafford a little bit.

Dave (15:45)

Yeah.

Adam (15:46)

And they met with Simpson. They met with his family during the Rose bowl and gave them an indication that they were going to take Simpson in the first round because Simpson had a big nil offer from the Miami Hurricanes. Six and a half million dollars reportedly to stay another year. He wanted to make sure he was going to be a first round pick. So the Rams gave him that indication during the college football season that you know toward the end that he was going to be a first round pick. And then they had a secret meeting with the Rams. The rams don't. Sean McVay never goes to the combine, and the Rams don't do top 30 visits. They don't bring people in because you have to report that. But they had a meeting with Ty Simpson, and you don't have to report that if you go to a player, to a prospect, you know, and meet with him. So they kept it a secret. They kept it under wraps, and they drafted him 13th. And. And I think from a dynasty standpoint, if you believe that narrative that they actually really did want him and McVeigh wasn't that angry about it, I think it might give you a little more confidence in drafting Simpson as a stash.

Jamie (16:39)

Well, I think less need has a relationship with Simpson's dad, so that's part of it, too.

Adam (16:44)

Welcome back. So let's go through where the rookies went in this draft, but honestly, we've talked a lot about these rookies and their draft value for the last week. So I've got some other questions about NFL veterans that I don't feel like we've talked enough about.

Jamie (17:10)

All right. We're trying to change something in the draft room. Oh, there you go. There's the sound of the sleeper draft room. Trying to change something in the draft room. That's why I waited a little bit longer than I wanted to to get into this draft. But it has changed and we are good to go. Okay. 12 teams, one QB, two running backs, three receivers, one flex tight end, I believe six bench spots and full PPR. So here are where the rookies went. Jeremiah Love went with the fourth pick of round three. He was RB13 after Omarion Hampton, Saquon Barkley, and Ken Walker. Heath, how do you feel about that Jeremiah Love pick?

Heath (18:00)

That's almost exactly where I have them. Maybe. Maybe a spot or two higher, but just. Just about right for me and probably around lower than he's going to be drafted in August.

Adam (18:12)

Okay.

Heath (18:13)

So then everybody's gonna get really excited about him.

Adam (18:15)

The next running backs were Travis ETN or H.N. jacobs. Irving. And one of my questions, I would rather have Jacobs. Yeah, One of my questions is why did Josh Jacobs last so long? Should wonder if we should integrate These questions in with the rookies or just partially?

Heath (18:33)

He lasted so long because you took Ken Walker over him, which was a

Adam (18:37)

tough call for me, no doubt. And I took a Marian Hampton over him, too. Josh. Dave, where should Josh Jacobs go?

Dave (18:45)

Round two? You can't forget about how the first half of last year went and what that. And that should be close to the expectation for Jacobs when he's the lead workhorse. He's getting over 20 touches per game. He's averaging close to 20 PPR points per game. That's the ceiling. That's the upside. That's where you draft players. If you're expecting that, you draft them in round one, not round two. We're getting them in round two. And it's because of the possible limitations related to injury related to the packers offensive line, maybe the offense in general. But this is a Packers team that thinned out its receiving core and should keep Jacobs in a big, prominent role. He's 28 years old this year. That's not too old for a running back. I think round two is a very safe spot for Josh Jacobs to go and certainly the back half of round two.

Adam (19:32)

So Jamie and I took three running backs with Jacobs on the board. We took Hampton, Barkley, and Ken Walker. Did we mess up Heath?

Heath (19:41)

I think I. I know I'm gonna have Hampton. I have Hampton, head of Jacobs. Yeah, I know I have Jacobs ahead of Walker, and Barkley is just right there in the same. In the same vicinity. I wouldn't say that's. That's messing up. I think that's just a coin flip between those two. But I think the only one that I saw that and then I thought the other thing I saw was with Dave taking Chase Brown in the middle of round two. I'm not sure that I see a huge difference between Chase Brown and Josh Jacobs. There's a little difference, but they both have the upside to score 20 fantasy points per game if everything goes right. And so I wonder if. If Dave seeing Jacobs fall past his third round pick makes him think he could have taken someone different in round two.

Dave (20:29)

I didn't know who I should have taken instead of Chase Brown. It was down to Brown or Pickens for me. And if I'm playing the game of, well, there's only one wide receiver that I like, and there's like six running backs that I like. I should just take the one wide receiver. Supply and demand. But I didn't do that. There was one running back that I thought was head and shoulders above the rest. That was Chase Brown, his. I think his floor is higher than Jacobs and his ceiling is just as high as Jacobs. Still really love getting pieces of that Bengals offense and he showed us last year when he was playing with Burrow. He was getting a lot of touches and he's. He scored a ton of fantasy points. I don't think the Bengals did much of anything to change their running back room or philosophy on how they might use Chase Brown. I'm very excited about Chase Brown this year and I would take him ahead of Jacobs, I would take him ahead of. Of Hampton, I would take him ahead of Jeremiah Love. I think he's a borderline first round pick, but if you can get him in round two, I think you're winning big time.

Adam (21:27)

Adam (21:33)

I was gonna make a joke about that. They took HN sixth overall and Chase Brown in the middle of round two. Chase Brown in from weeks nine through 17 in 2024. That was when he became the starter. Zach Moss was moved out of the picture. He averaged 20.6 PPR fantasy points per game. And then weeks 13 through 18 last year, that's when Joe Burrow returned. Chase Brown averaged 22.3 PPR fantasy points per game. So that's probably about 12 games.

Dave (22:03)

Yeah, that's a, That's a hell of good ceiling. That's QB1 ceiling for a running back.

Adam (22:08)

Yeah. RB1.

Dave (22:09)

Yeah.

Adam (22:10)

Okay, so moving on back to the draft and the rookies. Carnell Tate, pick 5.3, round five, pick three. That's wide receiver 27. Just after Jamie took Luther Burden and I took DJ Moore. So then Luther, then is Luther Burton, DJ Moore, Carnell Tate, those were the three wide receivers basically at the beginning of round five. Then Xavier Worthy, Terry McLaurin, Romo Dunesay were the next three receivers off the board. Jamie, do you think that's a good spot for Carnell? Tate, third pick of round five, wide receiver, 27 overall.

Jamie (22:45)

Yeah, it's a little earlier than I would take him, but it's the range, you know, so you're talking about high end, you know, number three, wide receiver. You know, once you start to get past this group of guys, you know, I, I think he belongs after these guys for me at least. So, you know, you can, you can argue, you know, Tate versus McLaurin. I'd rather have McLaren, Tate versus Odunze. I'd rather have Odunze. I'd rather have him than Metcalf. I'd rather have Watson than Tate, you know, so it's just that range of, of wide receivers. But I think anytime you start to first off, it's first draft we've done, you know, post NFL draft. So it's, you know, kind of a feeling out process of when these guys are going to come off the board. So it's, you know, if, if, you know, gamer Eric, who's one of our, you know, most dedicated podcast listeners and, and you know, stream followers, always in the chat.

Dave (23:34)

There you go. Thank you. You know, if he does, if we do this draft again and he's like, oh, I could have maybe gotten McLaren here. I could have gotten, you know, somebody else there. Maybe he waits around and gets him, you know, similar to like what, what I would have done with Dave's draft. I would have flipped the two here in terms of Tate and Christian Watson.

Adam (23:53)

Okay, well, the thing is, you're talking about flipping HN and Chase Brown, Jamie. Yeah, but the thing you're not. No one's going to get Devon HN in the middle of round two.

Jamie (24:03)

Well, that's his adp.

Adam (24:04)

No way. Really? I haven't seen him go that late.

Dave (24:08)

His ADP or his consensus rank.

Jamie (24:11)

Oh, maybe it's just consensus.

Dave (24:13)

Either way, that's pretty surprising

Jamie (24:17)

for me. So.

Dave (24:18)

Yeah, I get it. Totally get it. I still think he's going to be. Who else is going to get the ball in Miami? And I, it's, it's almost the same theory that I have for Jeremiah. Love that I have for A Chan. Just talent will win out and will earn opportunities. But at least in Miami, there, there isn't much for Malik Willis to throw to there. And so I, I think A Chan's going to end up. He's not going to average five targets per game like he did last year. Even if that comes down to three, that's still going to be a pretty good fantasy running back. I think he can get around 18 PPR points per game. And with that type of profile, that's still a first round pick.

Jamie (24:55)

Yeah, I would take the under just given how crappy this offense might be. And I don't think Willis will throw to him to the same level that Tua did. We saw that when Tua left.

Dave (25:03)

I agree. That's why I'm thinking three targets per game instead of five.

Jamie (25:06)

Yeah, yeah. No, I think that's realistic.

Dave (25:10)

Adam (25:10)

Are you kidding?

Jamie's right on this.

No, you're both wrong. Three targets per game. That's nothing. That's nothing.

Heath (25:16)

I'm not sure that we can totally Know, with a new offensive system and a new quarterback. But what I can say is, if it's three targets per game, then I am not taking him in the middle of round one, and I might not take him in the middle of round two.

Adam (25:33)

Yeah, I'm sorry, Jamie. I totally stepped on your toes there, but I was just incensed by three targets per game. What were you saying?

Jamie (25:40)

No, I just think it's going to be a crappy situation. So this. This also feels like, you know, you never want to project this out, but like, he. He's a potential shutdown candidate toward the end of the season. Like, you know, they're. They're. They're clearly in tank mode. And so if they get to a point where, you know, he's still producing and they want to lose games, he gets his contract. By that point, he's sitting.

Adam (26:03)

This is Devon H. And we're talking about here, the Dolphins, by the way. Look, they are going to have a bad offense. We think they were 25th in scoring last year, I guess tied for 24th.

Dave (26:10)

Yeah. Right.

Adam (26:11)

So it's not like they were that good.

Dave (26:13)

Exactly.

Adam (26:14)

But. But they could be worse. It could be worse.

Jamie (26:18)

Right.

Dave (26:18)

So if you're interested in the track record, and this will make you squeamish on Achan. Malik Willis's target rate to running backs in his career is 13.1%, and it was 9.1% in college. So not great. Quarterbacks under Bobby Sloic in Houston. That's basically C.J. stroud for his first couple of years. 16 target rate to running backs. So you have to bake in a much lower receiving workload for Achan. And how many? How many? I might be talking myself out of a chan here. How many total touchdowns did he have last year?

Adam (26:51)

Hn had six rushing, six receiving. Okay.

Dave (26:55)

And so we're already discounting his receiving numbers. I. If he has eight total touchdowns and he's not going to have 488 receiving yards. Yeah, I. I'm. I think I realized right here.

Adam (27:08)

I'm sorry, I was looking at the wrong year. He had. Oh, he had 12. He had eight rushing and four receiving. So he had 12. But different. Different.

Dave (27:17)

But let's knock that down to eight total.

Adam (27:19)

No, Jamie, what are we doing? Killing him.

Dave (27:23)

Well, but this is realistic at this point, because I think the rushing scores will be there. It's the receiving workload. He had almost 500 receiving yards last year, and I think that number is

Adam (27:34)

going to come down.

Dave (27:35)

I think the rushing average will probably be a little bit Lower. And so if all these numbers are going to come down, why the hell am I taking him in the first round?

Heath (27:42)

I was going to say, like, the longer Dave talks, the more.

Dave (27:45)

Yeah, I'm talking myself out of this.

He's going to be in round three by the time Dave finishes.

With the Green Bay packers with Josh Jacobs as their pass catcher, basically, versus what he's going to be on the Dolphins with no wide receivers to speak of, essentially is to me completely irrelevant. He's not going to throw that much. I get that. But there, I mean, like three targets per game is. Is 51, right? What's that? Is that right? 51 targets for the year. Obviously he's going to have more targets than that. It's. It's got to be four or five targets per game for Devon Hn. And he's. He's probably gonna leave the team in receiving, so. Or it's very possible anyways. That might be a stretch, but he's gonna be up there. I don't know. I'm just gonna have what happened sit

down and figure this out. And you know what? He is in our backyard, so there's no excuses for us. We're gonna have to be at Dolphins camp and put our ear to the ground on this stuff.

Well, yeah, because it's a different offensive coordinator, similar type of like, system conceptually. Like, it's both west coast stuff. I don't think Willis is as good of a thrower as. As other quarterback. Like, that's Jordan Love as an example. He's certainly more of a runner. That's going to hurt Devon H. And I actually think I should take a step back on the rushing average going down because usually running backs with mobile quarterbacks see an efficiency spike.

I mean, he did it last year and Tyreek wasn't on the field last year. Losing McDaniel is a huge deal and slow extract records suggest that he's. He may not lean into a chan as a receiver as much as McDaniel did. And Willis doesn't necessarily. When he's panicked, like Tua was panicked, what did two would do when he panicked, he got the ball out as fast as he could to the closest teammate to him. Good chunk of the time that was Devon Hn. I don't know if Malik Willis is going to do that because Malik Willis might run instead. So I, I think there's reason to revisit Devon Achan as a top six pick. If I could do it again, I don't know if I would have picked.

No, he should get drafted, but that's too early. Jadarian Price was the next pick, though. He was 6.7. Jadarian Price, Seattle running back, last pick of round one in the NFL draft, seventh pick of round six in fantasy drafts, RB26 in between David Montgomery and Jalen Warren Heath. Quick thoughts on Jadarian Price.

That seems just about right to me. I, I think this range of the kind of the last starting running backs or the guys we hope are the last starting running backs is exactly how I feel about Jadarian Price. And I, I would prefer him to Tate. So, like, amongst the rookies, maybe he went a little later, but. And I, I also prefer him to Kenyon Sadiq, but I, I think that amongst the running backs, this is. This is just about right.

Okay, next two picks. We'll look at round seven. We have Makai Lemon at. At 7.2 and Jordan Tyson 7.9. Makai Lemon was wide receiver 34. He went just after Marvin Harrison Jr. And right before Brian Thomas Jr. So Makai Lemon, second pick of round seven at wide receiver, 34, and Jordan Tyson, three receivers. After that, it went Lemon, then Harold Fannon, RJ Harvey, Brian Thomas Jr. Alec Pierce, Dak Prescott, Ramandre Stevenson, Jordan Tyson. I took Lemon and at that point I had Jamar Chase, Mike Evans, And DJ Moore. I can't remember who I was deciding. I certainly wasn't going to take Brian Thomas Jr. Or Alec Pierce there. I don't think Pierce is a bad pick, just not for me. Oh. I was deciding between him and Fanon. I think because I didn't have a tight end. I went with Lemon just because I wanted, like, have Mike Evans, you know, DJ Moore. I wanted a young, exciting player. Basically that, yeah, look, this pick could be a total bust. That's okay, I think in round seven, but I think Lemon, assuming the AJ Brown trade happens. I love him. I just happen to really love him. Dave has him as his number one wide receiver. I agree. Well, you know, pre draft. Pre draft, I mean, I. I just love what he can do. I'm excited for him. So this. This was a pick that maybe I'll hit a home run with it. I went with Lemon there. Jamie, your thoughts on Lemon and Tyson around seven.

I think given your roster build, it's perfect because you have your alpha. Obviously, in Jamar Chase, you waited on quarterback and tight end, so these were kind of luxury picks for you. And then I think just doing the, you know, the. I don't want to say a smart thing, but to me, I think it was a great pick. And Tank, Chris Godwin. I was actually hoping God would fall one more spot. So, you know, you have now five really good receivers in my mind, you know, so Chase and then two, you know what I would say number two receivers and Evans and more. And now Lemons in the flex, you know, range for you. And now Godwin also, you know, sort of gives you that luxury as well. So I think you're running back and wide receiver group is really strong. Tyson is. Is also, you know, I, I think a good spot for him. You know, just looking at hopefully Tyler Schuck supporting two wide receivers. We didn't have. We didn't see him do that last year because they traded Rashid Shahid almost at the time that Shell took over the starting job, and the rest of the receiving core there was obviously pretty, you know, barren. But I think we saw with Juwan Johnson, if you want to sort of make that, that, you know, sort of correlation of can he support two targets. He did that at a. At a decent level. So I think this is the right range for both those guys.

I. I think it's the right range for Lemon. I. I did. And I, I don't. I think the one thing I disagree with what Jamie said is it was the right pick for your team because I Know that you're kind of like really emphasizing this greater late thing that you're trying to steal from Jamie. But I don't think I like taking Mike Evans over Colston Loveland, taking DJ Moore over Tyler Warren and then taking Makai Lemon over Harold Fannin LaPorta and Pitts. It feels like, like this draft tried to gift you one of the tier two tight ends like later than they normally get picked and you just kept refusing so that you could draft hopefully wide receiver twos, but probably wide receiver threes.

Yeah, well, I got a couple of exciting young tight ends late. I got George Kittle and Travis Kelsey see if they can break out this year.

Yeah, I, I think I would like your team a lot better if just one of those times when you took those wide receivers in rounds four through seven, you would have taken one of the tight ends that you could be excited about.

I'm drafting a bench player before I take Harold Fannin. So. Well, I guess Lemon could have been a flex but I'm drafting depth so. It's a good point. It's a good question. How do you want to do it? I will say in a two receiver league I would have taken one of those tight ends three receiver league. I wait a little bit longer and we're going to take a Break and go through the rest of the rookies after those picks, Tyson Lemon and Tyson around seven. So, yeah, Mike, I think I'm pretty much done with this conversation, but you can give a final thought. Mike Washington. Everything is round 10 or later. Mike Washington, Jonah Coleman. Washington's on the Raiders. Coleman, the new Broncos running back. He went in the 11th round. Where did Dobbins go? I know Harvey went in the sixth or seventh round for Harvey. Anyone see Dobbins? Yeah, There he is. Ninth round for J.K. dobbins, almost 10th. And then Jonah Coleman in the 11th round. Casey Concepcion, 11th round. Brendan Thompson, Omar Cooper Jr. Dave. Those three wide receivers all went in round 11. Antonio Williams, around 12. Denzel Boston, round 12. So any. Any good values here? Bad values?

Dave (39:40)

I think Concepcion is a good value. That's why I took him. I think he's especially in full ppr. I think he's got a shot to lead the Browns and targets, catches, yards, touchdowns. He's a really good route runner. He's got great speed. And this is a Brown scene that's probably going to be trailing or competitive in a lot of games. I know they added Denzel Boston. He'll get his targets and then Harold Fan will get his too. I will all three of them kind of cannibalize each other maybe to a degree. But I just think the way that conception can be used in this offense where he can catch screens, he can catch slants, all those short throws, and then also still work deep, just like Denzel Boston. To me, I think Fannin and Concepcion will compete to be the target leaders in Cleveland. And I know the quarterbacks aren't great, but if you're asking Shadur Sanders or DeSean Watson to complete a bunch of short throws. Yeah. Give it to the guys that can make plays after the catch. That's basically Fan and Concepcion getting them in round 11, that's real cheap with a lot of upside, just getting a lot of catches.

Jamie (40:40)

We also, I think the. The running backs that were taken later were interesting just because there's so much handcuff potential for these guys. There's no starting spots for these guys, but handcuff potentials, you know, so. And then, you know, could we see Jonah Coleman carve out a role in Denver? I think he referenced on Monday show the athletic report about maybe him taking some goal line work. And then we know Dobbins with his injury history, so that could be something to keep an eye on there. Catron Allen and in Washington, you know, in that sort of, you know, vague backfield that we're looking at now with, you know, Crosby Merit, who draft capital surprisingly favors Allen, as bad as that is. You know, Rashad White being more of a pass catching back. Jerome Ford, you know, Jeremy McNichols. Just a lot of, you know, potential for him to maybe come in if he has a good camp and steal the job. Not that that's going to lead to maybe a ton of touches, but at least an opportunity. So there are some. Some of these guys that were, you know, late round flyers think Emmett Johnson probably ends up as the handcuff for Ken Walker. I would. I would probably lean toward him over Rashad Smith at this point. And then, you know, Mike Washington, you're waiting on an injury, but if that injury occurs, you know, that could be a great situation for him in Las Vegas. Sure.

Dave Smith has a glowing track record of fantasy production when one of Brown or Goddard are off the field. If we're taking Brown off the field and replacing them primarily with Makai Lemon and maybe a little bit of Hollywood Brown and Don Tavian Wicks while Dallas Goddard's still there, I like his chances to average north of 15 PPR points per game with some smash weeks.

Heath (44:27)

Heath Cummings, I don't really have. I mean I think these guys are both being taken right about where they should be. So I, I said Smith because he went later.

Jamie (44:36)

I agree with that. I think this is the right spots for both of these guys. I just think Dave, the second part of what Dave said, Smith without AJ Brown and nothing else. If you said that they did not draft Makai Lemon a 20th overall, that they did not draft Eli Stowers, that they did not sign Marquis Brown, that they did not trade for Dantavian Wicks, there's a lot of mouths to feed here, you know. So yeah, they're not going to be fed the same way though, A.J. yeah, but there, there's just more opportunities for other guys to take the A.J. brown targets, not necessarily them going to Devonte Smith. Whereas when Brown was absent or Goddard was absent and there were, you know, nothing of significance behind those guys, it was all devonte Smith. So I think there's plenty of reason to be optim stick for Smith and I think he said it best. This is the range for him to go. But A.J. brown now stepping into what could be this amazing opportunity where it's Romeo Dobbs and Mac Hollins and you know, guys that have not been very productive where there hasn't been a Devonte Smith or you know, you can maybe make the, you can sort of equate, you know, Dallas Goddard and Hunter Henry. I think that's fair comp. But yes, and like this could be the, the situation we were seeing from A.J. brown when he first got to Philadelphia and just getting spoon fed targets.

Heath (45:48)

I, I will say that I said earlier I think A.J. brown's going to be in a less concentrated target tree than, than what he was in Philadelphia. I think Devonte Smith is also like, I think this off this offense will probably spread the ball around a little more than the Eagles have in the past. If they don't, and that was more of a Jalen hurts thing, then we're too low on devontae Smith.

the Kai Lemon maybe, but yeah, or Dallas Goddard. I don't know what Goddard brings to the table at this point. He had a good year last year with so much. It was touchdowns. But this is. I like to double check this because it was kind of. It was kind of difficult to go through all the game logs. But from what I've. From what I gathered, Devonte Smith in the last four years has played exactly 17 games without Dallas Goddard, maybe with God, and also including games of God, left really early with an injury, but with A.J. brown. So this is just removing Goddard. This is not even removing A.J. brown, who has had a huge target share. And in those 17 games, Devonte Smith has averaged 17.1 PPR fantasy points per game, which is awesome. That's. You know, last year that would have been wide receiver 6. The year before that it would have been wide receiver 12. But that's 17 games with Brown and without Goddard. Now three games with Goddard and without Brown. There's only been three of those. I believe he had 10, 10 and nine targets in those games. That's without A.J. brown. And he scored 20.6, 14.9 and 14.4 PPR fantasy points in those three games. It. Those numbers, if they're right and if they're wrong, they're probably just a little wrong. Then he's an amazing pick in round five. Or is it four? Was around four.

He's an amazing. He's an amazing pick around three.

Is doing a lot of 17 points per game in round three.

Yeah, but that's the ceiling. He could very easily have around 14, which is good for round three. Listen, I. I think he's a. I think he's safe. I think he's got a solid floor. I. It's weird to say could he break out in his age 27 season when we all know who he is? I think it's possible. He could have his best year ever.

And that's what makes him appealing as a late round three into round four type of selection.

Okay, next up, which position is stronger in round four of the draft that we just did, running back or wide receiver? There were only three running backs taken, but they were Kyron Williams, Breece hall and Javante Williams. Couple of Williams and Breeze Hall. Kyron Breeze Hall, Javante. Those are your running backs. Here are your wide receivers. Devonte Smith, Lad McConkey, Jameson Williams, Jalen Waddle, Garrett Wilson, Devonte Adams, Mike Evans and Luther burden. Devonte Smith, Lab McConkey, Jameson Williams, Jalen Waddle, Garrett Wilson, Devonte Adams, Mike Evans, and Luther Burden. Is that stronger than Kyron Williams, hall, and Javante Williams? Heath, what do you say?

Heath (48:53)

Well, there's more wide receivers, so I think that helps their case. No, I. I think it's such a mixed. Like, for me, at least, there's a pretty decent sized gap between Kyron Williams and Javonte Williams. There's a pretty big size gap between Devonte Smith and Devonte Adams. So I. I think it's like some of these guys just went in a. In a different order than I would like. But I think if I had to choose my favorite top two, it'd probably be the two running backs in Kyron Williams and Briesel.

Adam (49:24)

Okay, interesting. And, Jamie, your thoughts? Kyron Williams, Breece Hall, Javante Williams, or this big group of wide receivers, what do you think is stronger in round four?

Jamie (49:33)

Yeah, I definitely agree with Heath. I think it's the. The running backs. I think the only receivers who actually belong in round four would be Devonte Smith, Garrett Wilson, and Luther Burden. I think the other receivers are around five picks. I think you make a case. Kyren Williams around three pick. Breeze hall and Javante Williams are probably closer to round five, but I'm fine with them in round four. The rest of the receivers, I just didn't love the value for. For those guys across the board or collectively, I guess, in round four.

Heath (50:03)

That's some. Some real shade.

Adam, what do you mean?

Heath (50:06)

Oh, you took Mike Evans right before he took Luther. You know, I was like that. That moment in the draft, I was thinking about just. Absolutely. I mean, who knows if we're right or not, but crushing you about how excited Jamie was that you took Mike Evans and he got to take Luther Burton and Kristen Loveland.

Jamie (50:24)

Well, like, it. It put me in such a tough spot because, like, I. I mean, to me, Loveland was a steal there and Burton. I mean, both of them were steals. And, like, I. I really have to take both Bears here. Like, you know, I. I didn't want to do that, and I'm, like, trying to talk myself out. I'm like, you know, eff it. I'm just gonna take the two best players on the board and, you know, right number. Number three tight end and, you know, top 20 wide receiver that just kind of fell in my lap here. So, yeah, I was. I was thrilled with it, and I was a little surprised as well.

Adam (50:51)

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Mike Evans being the number one receiver for the 49ers is pretty appealing, but I. I guess I Disagree a little bit, Jamie, with what you said about these wide receivers don't belong in round four. So which ones were you referring to, Waddle?

Jamie (51:05)

It's not that they don't belong in round four. Obviously we have to fill spots.

Adam (51:08)

That's, that's what my point.

Right? Yeah.

Like, like to me, Jameson Williams is not around for pick. Jalen Waddle's not around for pick. Garrett Wilson is around four pick. Adams is a late round four pick. Evans is around five pick and Burden is around four pick. You know, so if you want to just, you know, move guys around. I don't think Colston Loveland's around five pick. I think he's around four pick. You know, the quarterbacks are obviously going to go in that range. I think Scatter Boo went way late. I think Judkins went later than he probably is going to end up going. I think Price should be around higher than he is also. You know, so you just want to keep going down the sliding scale. You know, it's. Again, my draft board is not going to reflect what, what everybody does. So I think they're, they're solid picks. You know, I mean, they're, they're all good players. You know, I mean, we've had the Dylan Waddle discussion when, when the move happened. Dave's higher on him than I am. Garrett Wilson's, you know, got a lot of competition for targets at this point. You know, so his value took a little bit of a hit in the draft, as he sort of alluded to with, with Adams and Evans. You know, these are older receivers that are, you know, coming off, I, I would say somewhat difficult seasons. You know, Adams was so touchdown dependent and Evans missed more time again, you know, and, and is a year older. So it's a matter of what you're looking for. You know, you just said the, the idea of getting the 49ers number one receiver is intriguing no matter how old he is. And what Evan's resume is, is clearly impressive. Burden has three games of, of quality production. You know, that's hard to sort of, you know, weigh those two against each other and say one is, is significantly better than the other without leaning Evan's direction. But I, I think, you know, again, our, our job and, and what we do is to sort of who is going to be better this year. For me, it's burden. For you, it's Evans. That's fine.

Adam (52:44)

Well, for now, you know, it's. Look, it wasn't an easy decision. Obviously there's a, there's appeal of getting a. There's the appeal of getting into that Bears passing game just Dan. When we had Dan on last time, he made a good point. He said Burden, Loveland, Odunze, they're going to go in the same range, you know, Dunes, they'll probably be the last one taken. And he was. And this is a team that really wants to run the ball or run heavy team. Should we be taking two or three Bears pass catchers in the fourth or fifth round? I think it's. It's an interesting question. All right, let's go to round five. The value ometer. New ometer for us today. The value ometer. This one's pretty self explanatory.
