Jason Moore
Hey, welcome.
Andy Holloway
What world is this?
Jason Moore
Live from Minneapolis, Minnesota, it's the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. We have a great show for you today. This is a live event. This is being recorded on Thursday, June 21, the Tuesday show.
Mike Wright
There was hesitation.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it's one of those you recorded before. You don't remember when it comes out. But we're excited. We've got a live mailbag on the show today. We have fantasy legend Paul Charchian on the show today. From Minneapolis, Mailbag. We have Packer fans and Minnesota fans sitting in harmony.
Mike Wright
Maybe not, maybe not fighting.
Jason Moore
We have a. We have a food related quick course question. Which are the most delicious?
Andy Holloway
It's my wheelhouse.
Jason Moore
You know your stuff. And we've. We've got a lot more. So super excited to be here. I do want to remind you, those that are listening, that want to be a part of this, that are consuming this on the live stream, that are seeing all these beautiful faces, you can be one of them.
Mike Wright
Very beautiful. Very beautiful.
Jason Moore
You can be one of them. We're going to be in Dallas with special guest Brad Evans kicking off the ninth.
Andy Holloway
Whoa, that's Brad.
Mike Wright
You realize that you just fueled Brad.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah.
Mike Wright
He loves.
Jason Moore
Don't feed the noise. All right. But we're going to be with Brad kicking off the NFFC in Dallas. You can go to ballerslive.com check that out.
Andy Holloway
That is three weeks away. I mean, that is coming up soon. So Dallas, we're coming. Get ready.
Jason Moore
And we'll be in Philadelphia. We'll be in New York at the end of the month and then we will be. I know, I know.
Mike Wright
We're here right now. Is that not good enough?
Jason Moore
No, I think what happened?
Andy Holloway
Philadelphia thing too soon.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we're on to next year. And nice pandering, too.
Mike Wright
Well, these are.
Andy Holloway
This is my switch back. That's your birthright.
Jason Moore
You enacted your birthright.
Mike Wright
I'm a man of the north, south, whatever.
Jason Moore
You can follow us on Twitterffballers, which I know everybody out there does. That way you can see your beautiful faces. Because we're going to take a picture after this show of this incredible crowd and we'll tweet it out and you can be a part of it. Quick question time. This is an important one. Compare a player, a fantasy player, to a food item. And the good and the bad make the comparison. Jason, sell it. All right, this is important.
Andy Holloway
Kick us off here because food is great. And also very evil, which is. Look, I'm going to kick it off with a food that is a specialty of the north.
Jason Moore
Of the north.
Andy Holloway
Poutine. Yeah, we got. Yeah. If you don't know what poutine is, if you're listening and you're like, did he just curse? No. Poutine is delicious. It is French fries and cheese curds, and you cover that in gravy. I mean, it's. This is a Jason Moore special.
Jason Moore
You've had that dream before.
Andy Holloway
Yes, I have had. I have had that. And so I'm going to compare poutine to Amari Cooper. Okay. Because you.
Mike Wright
You're emphasizing the poo part.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. The Amari Cooper. Here's the deal. Amari Cooper should have a lot of volume. And I've never ordered poutine that came as like a little tiny side. You know, Poutine comes in its own bowl and covered with gravy. He's going to get carries out of the backfield. He's going to get, you know, slot work. He's going to get outside work. Everything will be there for Cooper. They will use him in a number of different ways this season. So you like it at the end of eating poutine, sometimes you regret it. Sometimes you go, man, that was so much. But I shouldn't have ordered the poutine. And that's how I feel about Amari Cooper. It's like the volume's there and it could be delicious, but I think you might end up with a few regrets.
Mike Wright
Okay, so right now you're on this.
Andy Holloway
I'm on the delicious. It looks great flipped over. Yeah.
Mike Wright
So wait, is this. Are you on both sides right now?
Andy Holloway
I'm living on both sides with Cooper, but right now he looks delicious with.
Jason Moore
Food and with food.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah, Right now looks delicious.
Mike Wright
All right.
Jason Moore
Can you top poutine?
Mike Wright
Well, probably not in taste, but the player I want to talk about, he's good. He's not. This is not a meal. This is a snack. It's late. I need something. I want to talk about Danny Amendola, and I want to compare him to a bag of potato chips. Because, look, they're good. But when you open that bag, is it half empty?
Jason Moore
All air.
Mike Wright
When you open that bag, are they all smashed to pieces?
Jason Moore
Does the bottom open on accident and they fall out?
Mike Wright
But every once in a while, the.
Jason Moore
The fresh one.
Mike Wright
Aquarius, man. The planets align. There's only two smash chips in your bag. They are salted to perfection. They are potatoey goodness.
Jason Moore
Percy Harvest A Percy Harvin Shout out.
Andy Holloway
Wow.
Jason Moore
I remember that. Four games. That was.
Mike Wright
I do.
Jason Moore
He was so great. I made a great pick, but then I was hungry again. All right, I'm going to a local favorite as well that we were introduced to up here.
Mike Wright
And I'm the panderer.
Andy Holloway
You're wearing a Kirk Cousins jersey.
Mike Wright
No, we are together and I don't.
Jason Moore
Know if it'll be a popular opinion. Baseless claps. Do not cheer that, man. The Zumba, man. That was pretty cool, though.
Mike Wright
I hate Zumba.
Jason Moore
I know.
Mike Wright
That was winded, man.
Jason Moore
That was a workout. We know. I'm gonna go with the Juicy Lucy. Okay, So I am. I am patently pandering. But you won't like the name I bring up about it. See? And I want to talk about Alex Smith. Right?
Mike Wright
You gotta sell me.
Jason Moore
I know it's a tough sell because look just like a normal burger. You've had them, they can be good, they can be bad, they can be fine. Right? Alex Smith is fine. And then last year, there was something on the inside. There was something special.
Mike Wright
It was heart.
Jason Moore
And all of a sudden, he wasn't picking my kids up after school. He wasn't getting the vanilla ice cream at the 31 flavors. He had something special. He was throwing the ball downfield. And from a fantasy perspective, he was beating guys like Cam Newton in points per game and he was winning people championships. And then he gets sent out to Washington in this unknown circumstance. But I think that there's something inside of Alex Smith and I'm not putting him in the top five or eight or something like that. But QB1 should not be ignored for Alex Smith because he did a whole lot last year. 4,000 plus yards. It wasn't just Tyreek Hill. He did not make his career. And people don't know what Paul Richardson is going to do and what weapons he has there, but he has enough. Jay Gruden has confidence in him and so I think could end up with a Juicy Lucy.
Andy Holloway
I think if it's a history lesson of how it went through last year, I completely agree. But this season, I think there's no cheese inside that burger.
Jason Moore
Wow. That would be.
Andy Holloway
It might be char, bro. Like, it's charred.
Jason Moore
So you're on board.
Mike Wright
It's cold.
Paul Charchian
All right.
Jason Moore
Without further ado, our main event. Let's do it.
Andy Holloway
Tips and tricks.
Jason Moore
Now, we've. We've done these types of shows before. We're bringing you 10 fresh tips and tricks for the 2018 season.
Mike Wright
So you've already heard them all.
Jason Moore
No no. You've heard maybe one or two that we can't help but bring up year after year after year. We know that fantasy look, it's about accurate projections and we want to be right and you want to win your league with the statistics and analyzing those things. It's all important. But we are a holistic podcast. We understand that it's just as important for you to know your league mates and how to beat them and to know your league format and how to take advantage of it and the other aspects. It's not just reading a sheet, right? I mean, you're having fun. You need to learn your league mates. You need to take advantage of them. So we're going to start there. So, Mike, I think you're up first.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
Number ten.
Mike Wright
That sounds intense.
Jason Moore
So it.
Andy Holloway
The.
Jason Moore
The feedback is.
Andy Holloway
He.
Mike Wright
He shook my bottom.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
My goodness. Number. Number 10. I. I can't even get close.
Andy Holloway
Number 10. Oh, oh, oh.
Mike Wright
Number 10. I'm calling this poutine moving. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I'm calling these the coupon clip players. We all know the draft. It's about value. That adp, the average draft position, working it, getting the value, taking the guy where he should be drafted, not reaching. But you know, there's fantasy points to be had, but everyone else is reaching. I guess I'm completely out on that team. And you go, maybe I don't have to be because take a look. The Browns Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon are both being drafted as top 60 players. That seems. That's a little crazy to me.
Jason Moore
You can hear the truthers out there. Somebody has him in a dynasty league.
Mike Wright
But been holding on for five years. Now's the time. But here's the thing. Someone has to throw Josh Gordon the ball. Tyrod Taylor's not even being drafted in one quarterback leagues. Like, cut the coupon out. Take that. There's no shame in coupons. What is double coupon?
Jason Moore
It takes a little time.
Mike Wright
You got. Do you think desean Watson is the truth? People are paying up for him. Why, why not just wait till your sixth, seventh round? You grab Will Fuller, get a piece of that offense. Look at the Giants. My goodness. Odo, Beckham, Saquon, Evan Angrem, they're all being drafted as ones of their position. And then there's Eli Manning, the guy who has to get them the ball. No one wants him on their fantasy.
Jason Moore
Clip it out.
Mike Wright
Clip it out. That one's already been done. Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, they're both top 60 picks. But Matt Stafford sitting there as A value. Our Minnesota Vikings, Dalvin Cook, Stefan Diggs, Adam Thielen, they're all. First three rounds. I'm not gonna argue with that. But they're all going in the first three rounds. Grab Cousins, grab you. Get him in. Get him in the eighth round, get a piece of the offense. Clip. Yeah, you got to clip the coupons, take those savings, get in on that offense. But while everyone else.
Jason Moore
Because you can't believe one thing about all these other players, right? And then not imbue that value to the other player, it's you.
Mike Wright
You snuck into the steak party. You got the tuxedo shirt on. You didn't. You didn't pay for a rental. You got a T shirt.
Jason Moore
And if you did this two nights.
Mike Wright
Ago, you spilled some. I. I may or may not have. You can't prove. Look, moving on. That's a long story, all right? But if you get salsa on it, you're fine. No big deal. Because you paid half price because you clipped that coupon.
Jason Moore
All right? So.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. You like that, number nine?
Jason Moore
That feel good? All right, number nine. And I'm gonna bring it back to the Jarvis Landry truther and the Josh Gordon truther out there. Number nine.
Andy Holloway
Is this.
Jason Moore
Love hurts.
Andy Holloway
Love hurts.
Jason Moore
Love scars.
Andy Holloway
Love scars.
Jason Moore
So did that.
Mike Wright
What's the next words?
Andy Holloway
No one knows.
Jason Moore
Here's what happens as fantasy owners, especially in dynasty and keeper leagues. You fall in love, you build your idyllic, beautiful starting roster, and then you write about it in your diary, and you hang it on your mirror, and you look at it and you marvel at it, and you love it. And love hurts. In fantasy football, especially in dynasty and keeper leagues, when you've held on to those guys with a hope and a prayer, and you know that this is gonna be the year, right? So you build that idyllic roster, and then this happens. A little reminder. Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Odell Beckham, Jr. Julian Edelman, David Johnson, Dalvin Cook, Greg Olson, Tyler Eifert, Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz. Those were just the headliners. Injuries happen. They hit, and then all of a sudden, love really hurts because you haven't built your team the right way. And I used to play this way. I used to build the powerhouse starting eight. And then one thing happens, and you know, now more than ever in the NFL, the injuries, they hit hard. So there are a couple of ways to combat that, right? You want to avoid love, hurting depth. Mike, you've been Mr. Running Back Depth for years. Have players waiting in the wing, invest in depth, and don't look at it like, okay, I'm going to two for one every trade to build my starting eight and leave junk on my bench. That's step one to avoid that problem and then just be willing to accept reality with those players if they don't pan out. The expectations do not always come to fruition.
Andy Holloway
Gotta be cold blooded, you do.
Jason Moore
You have to be willing to let somebody go. Especially when you do those, like, last three or four picks in the draft and you're like, I'm grabbing. That's happening, that steal, right? This is the week. No, you got to be able to cut bait. You got to be cold. You got to let go. You gotta find another love somewhere else on the waiver wire. All right? Love hurts.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Tip, number eight.
Andy Holloway
Love does hurt. Number nine. Number eight. So on this one, you know, I was coming up with my tips for this season and, you know, there was one tip that I just kept thinking, I've said it so many times, I want to be fresh. And the other two are. But I went back and forth. I was like, but we have so many new listeners and this is so important because at the end of the day, the most important thing for the three of us is that you guys win Hashtag Foot Clan titles. Like, that's what we are really doing. We want to win titles. So I was like, man, should I do it? Should I not do it?
Jason Moore
That's why we don't invite them to the Listener League, because that would not be possible.
Andy Holloway
Right? So I decided, oh, no, the glasses. Yeah. Oh, we got some hate blockers out there. I decided to throw on my hate blockers and say, I don't care. Okay? The tip is important. We want you to win. And you can say it with me. You don't win your championships at the draft unless it's best ball, in which case you totally do. Please play. Play. Draft. No. So here's the reality for.
Mike Wright
Wait, are they. Are they staying on?
Andy Holloway
Oh, they're staying. This. This tip is full. Full hate, hate blockers the whole time. I might get.
Jason Moore
You see anything?
Andy Holloway
I can see nobody or nothing. They're actually blacked out on the inside. Here's the deal. I have, you know, every year we say this. You don't win. But the Johnny Cash up here, the reason that it's so important is because there is a large faction of fantasy fans. This used to be me a long time ago that they. They. I mean, the draft is my favorite part of the season. It's probably everyone in this room's favorite part of the season? Yeah. Draft day is my Christmas. And so, you know, you have so much fun. You do all this research which builds a foundation for a championship. But then as soon as the season kicks off and you get a week or two in, you kind of, you stop paying attention. You're, you're not, you know, doing the same research. You're not having fun, you're not as involved because life moves on. And I'm telling you, if you do that, if that's like the route you want to take, I guarantee that you will not win the championship. It is impossible to win the championship that way. Last season, depending, actually the last two years, depending on. If you look at NFL or espn, different leagues have different guys. But over the last two years, four of the top five positional players that were in common on championship teams, they are lower tier players. You also have, listen to this. The number one and number two wide receivers, okay, the wide receivers that were most common in fantasy drafts. Would you believe that it was Josh Gordon?
Mike Wright
Title games.
Andy Holloway
Yes. In title games, Josh Gordon and Devin S. Scrumptious. Those guys were not, you know, draft day winners. Where you, you know, those were, those were waiver wire pickups. Alex Smith, you brought them up.
Jason Moore
Very entertaining.
Andy Holloway
Quarterback 4, undrafted. DeSean Watson, undrafted second half of the year. Alex Collins, Kenyon Drake, they were the running back six. And running back star is born. So here's what I wanted to do. I wanted to share with you great news. Great, great news. The listener league this season, we're going to be having submission soon. And once again I made sure that another spot was open for you guys by winning the championship. But I want to read you my draft.
Mike Wright
People are very impressed.
Andy Holloway
Well, look, if you play me again this year, I'm going to win. But this is my draft. I want you to either cheer if it was a good pick or boo if the pick didn't work out. Probably this last season. Okay. Antonio Brown. Yeah. How about Dalvin Cook? Did that one work out for me? No, it didn't. It could have. Injury. Yeah. Marshawn lynch, how was that pick? Yeah, I agree. It wasn't. Not worth a third. How about Allen Robinson? How was his season? Well. Well, I brought it.
Mike Wright
Why are we booing?
Jason Moore
I like it. It's interaction.
Andy Holloway
It's interaction. How about Danny Woodhead? Great pick, right? Oh, Randall Cobb was so good with Aaron Rodgers last year. Oh, extra boo.
Mike Wright
Hold on. This one is very interesting to see.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I want to see what they do. Rashard Matthews. We don't know. It was honestly Based on those other picks. It was fantastic.
Jason Moore
Right.
Andy Holloway
Okay. How about Andrew Luck? He was really good. Darren McFadden? Eric Ebron, Derek Carr.
Mike Wright
We found the Ebron person. Soulmates.
Andy Holloway
Jonathan Williams. I mean, my draft.
Jason Moore
Anybody?
Andy Holloway
It was Antonio Brown and then the Eagles with my last pick. That's the only two serviceable picks. And.
Jason Moore
And you won.
Andy Holloway
And I won the championship, which means.
Jason Moore
We picked the right people to play in that league.
Andy Holloway
Ah, yeah. So my point is, stick with it. Do waivers pay attention. Keep up to date with the news.
Jason Moore
Because you won with that roster.
Andy Holloway
Make trades. Well, not that roster. I won with a completely different roster. But, yeah, you didn't necessarily win at the draft. All right, number seven.
Mike Wright
I want to talk about the house of horrors, because there are.
Jason Moore
Thank you. Thank you.
Mike Wright
Yes, thank you. There are situations all over the NFL for fantasy that fantasy players seem to want no part of. It's the scariest thing they've seen. You can't decipher it. I want nothing to do with that. But I want to remind you that these type of situations, that's where you. That's where you can find that piece of coal. You get enough pressure, boom.
Andy Holloway
Diamond. Right.
Mike Wright
There's a little geography, geology.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yes. It wasn't me.
Mike Wright
Deal with that. That's a little geology lesson I'm learning. Jason's prescription is very strong.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm bl.
Mike Wright
So these are gross situations that people want no part of. And here's what happened last year. The Green Bay running backs last year. Ty Montgomery, three top 10 weeks. Jamal We. Jamal Williams, six weeks straight as a top 24. Aaron Jones had two top five weeks. Players don't want to draft these running backs because they don't know what to do. You have to take a shot. There we go. Me and this guy. Jacksonville wide receivers. Marquis Lee, five weeks as a top 24 quarterback. Keelan Cole had four straight weeks as a top 20 wide receiver. Dede three times in the top 30. These are very usable guys. The Washington wide receivers. This one blew me away. Do you realize that Jameson Crowder actually had five top 24 weeks?
Jason Moore
I've been telling.
Andy Holloway
He finally got it together.
Mike Wright
Dachshund was a wide receiver three. Six times into a wide receiver three. You need a wide receiver three people. You can't. You can't have Odell and Antonio Brown as your only wide. Receivers. The Miami wide receivers. This one's a little gross. I get it. Devonte Parker was a wide receiver three, eight times. Kenny Stills, the man. Top 24, five times. There is a Jarvis Landry sized target hole. If you get your hands dirty, you can wash them. It's okay. You got to go in on these situations. You got to take your shot because these are where league winning types of players show up because they were. Alvin Camara. No one wanted anything to do with Super Comario because he was buried. Now you do. We've seen all the letters. I dropped Camario right before the breakout. Yeah, because you. Because he was buried. You weren't sure what was going to happen. But there's magic to be had in these houses in the house of horrors.
Jason Moore
All right. I like it.
Andy Holloway
Number six.
Jason Moore
This one is inspired. Well, first I said love hurts. Right? And now we're moving on to fear hurts. Okay, Fear hurts. You cannot play scared Mike. You quote him all the time.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
What does Ice Cube say?
Mike Wright
If you're scared, go to church.
Jason Moore
Go to church. Look, scared players make the worst fantasy football decisions possible. Scared players, they look and they will not draft players with matching bye weeks.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Jason Moore
We cannot have that happen. Even though we're going to enter into this league and we're going to make a thousand waiver pickups because we drafted like Jason did last year and we make 1,000 trades and your whole roster is going to turn over before the bye weeks even hit. So scared players pay too much attention to the bye weeks. Scared players always draft handcuffs. Don't draft your handcuff. We've been saying that on the show forever. Unless you're talking about the not really handcuffed handcuffs like Tevin Coleman. Right. Or maybe handcuff, who is much more.
Andy Holloway
Of a handcuff handcuff.
Jason Moore
And I really should have invited everyone to participate there. But no, don't use a roster spot on that guy, hoping that the wheels fall off and somebody gets hurt in the first couple weeks because you're going to. What's going to happen is you're going to draft him and then you're going to drop him in week two anyway. Don't waste a roster spot. That's a scared mentality. When you draft in fantasy football, scared fantasy football players, they focus on filling your starting roster. And they do that because when you go on any platform, if you're on ESPN or Yahoo, that's the way it shows up on the screen. You kind of. It's scary, right? You scary and you. Oh, if I draft another running back, he's going to the bench and then I don't have a tight end yet and I don't have a quarterback yet. And so scared players fill that roster and then move on to the bench. And it costs you. You don't have depth, you don't have opportunities there. So you cannot play scared. Don't play scared. Fear hurts. No, I know. I'm very depressing.
Andy Holloway
Number five, I'm pretty sure you said I'm very depressing. And I agree. Look, this tip is not just an important tip. This is also Michael Gallup's favorite tip. It's saddle a stud. Okay. You need a stud, J. Yeah.
Mike Wright
I'm going to let you keep going.
Andy Holloway
Thank you.
Mike Wright
But you need to reign it in.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So here's the deal. I feel like this room full of people, the people watching on the stream, listening on podcasts.
Mike Wright
Andy is holding back so many horse puns right now to the point of physical pain.
Andy Holloway
You guys are never gonna let me go. I know it. You need a stud. I think you deserve a stud. I think you want a student. And here's the truth that I don't think everybody necessarily agrees with, but it is the truth. A stud is a running back. Sorry. It's not always the top flight wide receivers. I want to give you some data here so you can understand. And this isn't to say that you can't win other ways. 0 RB is a great strategy and the antifragile theory is real. If you play in. You know, if I were to be in a full point PPR 3 wide receiver 2 flex league, I would probably adopt that. But I think that the majority of leagues that we are playing in are in our home leagues. Match kind of what the ballers do. And according to that, the consistency is what you need to win games. Okay. You can have. Look at Julio Jones, right? Julio Jones. A lot of people feel like this last year, Julio. A lot of people feel like Julio was a bust. Some people think he did great. He was the number four wide receiver.
Jason Moore
That's pretty good.
Andy Holloway
How can that possibly be a bust? He's the number four. He was drafted as the number three. So I mean, he. He finished right about where he was.
Jason Moore
The Brooks of the wide receiver corps.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it was pretty good. I don't know what that means. Wow.
Mike Wright
Can we get a ruling on that, judge?
Jason Moore
No gavel.
Andy Holloway
No gavel.
Jason Moore
I can't even see him.
Andy Holloway
They charge a lot extra on bag flights these days. We had to leave the gavel at home. But the thing is, is, is Julio had a great season as the wide receiver four. Except that it wasn't at all a great season. Only five of his 16 games did he finish in the top 24 at the position. Yes, he had a couple of huge blow up games, but he had 25% of his games where he wasn't even in the top 36 in the position. And that consistency is what you need.
Jason Moore
He couldn't pony up.
Andy Holloway
Yes, he could not pony up enough. Weeks there were six and I went back the last. Thank you. Well deserved. The last two years there have been six. Six running backs. Six of them who finished with more than half of their games as a running back. One that wins you weeks. There has been one wide receiver that's done that over the last two years. Antonio Brown. If you go, okay, well that's great to be a running back one, but how about a running back one or a wide receiver or a running back two or a wide receiver two? Just in the top 24. Just. He's not killing your week. He's having a good time. There have been 11 running backs that have done that.
Jason Moore
Great time.
Andy Holloway
There have been 11 running backs who have finished, I'm sorry, not with more than 50% but more than 70% of their games in the top 24. There's only one wide receiver that has done that, Antonio Brown. So it's like I love the value of Julio and Odell Beckham as they continue to drop in these drafts. But when I look at the data, I see that my probabilities of having a consistent week in and week out winner at the top of the draft have to be these running backs just because we're playing probabilities, you know, could Odell Beckham have, I mean, and all this data, by the way, it's two years and it only factors in the games played. So like Odell Beckham you would expect would also qualify. He doesn't qualify in there. Eleven running backs do. He didn't make that cut in the wide receiver group. So I am saying you need a stud. You want a stud. Saddle a student. And the studs are running backs and Antonio Brown. All right, number four.
Mike Wright
So get off your high horse and get a running back stud.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, there you go.
Mike Wright
Oh, what?
Andy Holloway
That was great.
Jason Moore
It was all right.
Mike Wright
Okay, you need to move on. I'll take. All right, we're going to talk quarterbacks because this is what I do. We're going to talk quarterback.
Andy Holloway
Wow.
Jason Moore
We're going to talk very lively.
Mike Wright
But I wanted to, I wanted to spin it in a little bit of a different direction because you know, we, we talk about wait on your quarterback. Get that late round value.
Andy Holloway
It's there.
Mike Wright
And I wanted to address some concerns for the early quarterback people. And I call this.
Jason Moore
And they're out there.
Mike Wright
They're out there. And I call this. I call this.
Jason Moore
They're called Aaron Rodger fans.
Mike Wright
Call it.
Andy Holloway
Oh.
Mike Wright
I call this tip, hold on to your butt. Yes. Shout out to JJ. JJ pretty much made this popular and we're talking about it because it's great. I call this tip, hold on to your butts.
Andy Holloway
When we play that number drop. You gotta hold on. Hold on to your Jake butts. But, but Mike.
Mike Wright
Yes, yes. Voice of public opinion butt.
Andy Holloway
But Mike, all the quarterbacks at the end of the draft, they suck.
Mike Wright
Sure, sure, maybe they do for real life NFL. But how about this perfect storm of home games and juicy matchups. This guy was the number two overall fantasy quarterback from weeks 12 through 16, averaging nearly 22 points a game. Blake the Snake Porto.
Paul Charchian
I got a snake, man.
Mike Wright
That one's not gross enough. From weeks 13 through 17, this quarterback averaged five points better a game than Matt Ryan and Tom Brady. Joe Flacco.
Andy Holloway
What?
Mike Wright
Oh, but, but yes, yes, Mike.
Andy Holloway
What about when that quarterback is playing poorly like Blake Bortles did early?
Mike Wright
It doesn't matter. They can turn it around. You can project matchups.
Jason Moore
You put the hay blockers on an atrocious.
Mike Wright
An atrocious fantasy quarterback. At the beginning of the season, through week nine, Big Ben was the quarterback 24, averaging under 13 points a game. From week 10 on, over 22 points again a game, the most for any quarterback in the second half of the league. But.
Andy Holloway
But Mike. Yes, the early quarterbacks. Yes, they're safe. Oh.
Mike Wright
Oh, are they safe?
Andy Holloway
They're. They're safest. They're the safest.
Mike Wright
This is what we know in fantasy football. Everyone busts and be in the. And this guy is Talking about early QBs are safe. Only. Only four quarterbacks of the top 12 drafted met or exceeded their draft position at the end of the year, the average return on draft value for final position of the top four quarterbacks was negative 11 and a half, meaning they finished 11 spots behind where you drafted them. The average return of draft value on quarterbacks this past year, quarterback nine through 17, positive five. Did you hear me? A negative 11.
Andy Holloway
But yes, but only the elite quarterbacks put up the huge games.
Mike Wright
Oh, is that. Is that true?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I declare it.
Jason Moore
I don't recommend looking at him. It's not going to help.
Mike Wright
Well, how about this? Last year, 43 players posted a top 12 quarterback week. You want to hear some names? Some names that you may not even remember? C.J. beathard.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah. He's so good.
Mike Wright
Kevin Hogan, Brock Osweiler, TJ Yates, David Fails. Anyone, anyone in this room, tell us who it is. But what team? What team did he play for? They all yelled colleges.
Jason Moore
They just yelled college.
Andy Holloway
They're yelling this college team. They don't know his NFL team, Dolphins.
Mike Wright
Week 17, which don't play championships in Week 17.
Andy Holloway
We'll get to that.
Jason Moore
We'll get to that.
Mike Wright
He put up a top 12 week because. Was that a DA.
Jason Moore
Bears just move on because that was John Fox.
Mike Wright
He doesn't have a lot of things to do these days.
Jason Moore
No, he tried to get on the list. I didn't like it.
Mike Wright
Quarterback late. If he doesn't work out, stream the position. You can project a big performance from a quarterback because you know he's going to touch the ball 30 plus times every week. That's how football works.
Jason Moore
And over the course of the season, you see the defenses that are susceptible to those type of environment. Are you satisfied now?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think it's pretty solid. Pretty solid analysis number three.
Jason Moore
All right, I'm gonna finish my theme out. Love hurts. Fear hurts. Names hurt, stupid.
Andy Holloway
Who hurt you?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I've got some repressed issues, most of them caused by jc. We've known each other a long time. I still don't understand. They paid to see you. I tried to get away from you. And I would pay to get away from you. Look, big names, historically productive names, they have two things. They've got history behind them and they have hope. Okay, you have history and hope. You have players that last year. I want to highlight this point because names and buying into the name value of a player, it can be very, very damaging. Here are first round bursts. Give me some feedback here. First round draft picks over the last several years. How you feel about him now? 2015, Jeremy Hill. You remember Eddie Lacy?
Andy Holloway
Oh, Eddie Lacey burned.
Jason Moore
You remember Eddie. They didn't like him even more. How do you feel about C.J. anderson now? First round pick? It's all right. 2016, Adrian Peterson.
Mike Wright
Hey, you watch your tone. That man's a legend.
Jason Moore
Allen Robinson, after his 1400 yard season went in the first round the next season, how'd that season go? Not first round, right? Lamar Miller, he's the regular. He's the like fast food hamburger. If the. If the juicy Lucy's Alex Smith, Nobody wants to touch Lamar Miller. And then last year, here were first round picks last year. How'd they do, JJ? Great.
Mike Wright
What are you watching?
Andy Holloway
Jiji is now 52 years old.
Jason Moore
We have some sad news. Jordy Nelson DeMarco Murray, Tess Bryant, they're all big names. Here's the problem with all those busts last year. Adrian Peterson and Brandon Marshall were fifth round picks ahead of Jarvis Landry. Why? Because they've. They got a name people remember. You've got the history. You have the hope. You cannot always buy in the name. This year. Overdrafted players that I'm warning people about. Jordy Nelson. Yeah, he changed teams and up the name is there. Eric Decker was another one. You followed the name around and it didn't pay off last year. Is it going to be Martavis in Oakland? Is it going to be Crabtree in Baltimore? Because he had great seasons. Even guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees, they kind of just carry along their bags filled with fantasy points and that moves them up.
Mike Wright
Those points are no good anymore.
Jason Moore
They have a lot.
Mike Wright
So your carries declined.
Jason Moore
Jeremy Macklin. This happened to him last year, too. The name of Jeremy Macklin carried on to Baltimore. How? He's not even on a team. So what I'm saying is be careful of those names. There are a lot of names you don't know. I wouldn't go with David Fales, but Royce Freeman, Christian Kirk, Alex Collins, Will Fuller. These are names that are not as prominent. These are names that you brought up on your coupon clip section. So just remember that the name can hurt. Make sure you look into what's happening this year.
Andy Holloway
Names hurt.
Jason Moore
Thank you.
Andy Holloway
You're welcome. Number two. All right, listen. If you want to. If you want to have a good draft where when you leave, you go, man, I really like my team. Regardless of whether it's good or not.
Jason Moore
I don't want to say it like that.
Andy Holloway
You do you. You're going to want to know the end from the beginning. What I mean is Mike's face says he is confused. It's super deep. Know the end from the beginning.
Jason Moore
I think the Smashing Pumpkins thing, we've all.
Andy Holloway
We've all. If we've played in a lot of drafts before, we've all had this happen to us, right? There's these certain running backs or certain wide receivers I really love at the end of the draft, I want to make sure I get one, you know, and then I draft a certain way early and I get towards the end of the draft and oh, man, that wide receiver I really loved is sitting there. But I've got. I've got too many wide receivers right now and I desperately need a running back. So I end up having to take a running back that I hate or Vice versa, whatever position it is. And so my tip to you guys to avoid this and to end up with a better team is to know the end from the beginning. By doing this, you can. This is a practical tip.
Jason Moore
Please say Magic eight ball.
Andy Holloway
The Magic eight ball knows all. And what I would do is I would, you know, you print out an ADP list, an average draft position list. We've got a printable version in the ultimate draft Kit. You can find them online.
Jason Moore
Our website is what our ultimate draft.
Andy Holloway
Kit.Com you can get it. Or the fantasy footballers dot com. And then forget the first eight, you know, first seven rounds or so. Look at the end of the draft.
Mike Wright
Just skip them.
Andy Holloway
Just. Just skip. Just look at the end of the draft and circle the guys that you actually like within each round. Go to the seventh round, go to the eighth round, go to the ninth, 10th, 11th, and just circle the two or three guys you like the best in those rounds. What's going to happen at the end is basically one of three things. Maybe you find out that this season you're kind of into the reliable veteran wide receivers. You like the value of Emmanuel Sanders in the eighth, Jameson Crowder in the eighth, Alan Hearns. Is that a Vance dance?
Mike Wright
Meet me after the show.
Andy Holloway
You like Alan Hearns in the ninth, it's going to get Ray Rashard Matthews in the 12th, Paul Richardson in the 14th. Those are all players that I personally think are really good values. So if that's, you know, and no. Okay, I like those players. Or maybe that's not you. Maybe you're more of a swing for the fences. I want a home run late pick. You want Jamal.
Jason Moore
Baseball reference.
Andy Holloway
You want swing for the fences is kind of commonly known now, but I guess it is baseball.
Mike Wright
Baseball's not commonly known.
Andy Holloway
But let me ask you this.
Jason Moore
Not to.
Andy Holloway
Jason, Let me ask this. No, he said it is commonly known. Does cricket have fences?
Mike Wright
Nobody knows. Yeah, we don't.
Jason Moore
This guy plays a lot. And he said yes.
Andy Holloway
Oh, then that was a cricket reference, actually, Andy.
Jason Moore
Oh, thank you.
Andy Holloway
That was not a baseball reference.
Mike Wright
Reference is the goal to hit it.
Jason Moore
Over the fence into the fence.
Mike Wright
Thumbs up. All right.
Andy Holloway
All right, we're good. It's a cricket reference.
Jason Moore
Let me pause for just a second.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
Do you know what it looks like when people play cricket? Do you have.
Andy Holloway
Intimately. I played for. What do they hold a paddle?
Jason Moore
All right. I just had to check.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Jason Moore
I never know how far away from. From knowledge you really are.
Andy Holloway
So the. Anyways, you want to swing for those cricket home runs.
Mike Wright
Are they home runs?
Andy Holloway
Are they home runs? We got.
Mike Wright
Oh, they're not home runs.
Andy Holloway
All right. I've been exposed. All right, Jamal Williams in the 10th round. Deonta Foreman in the 10th round. Naim Hines, 12th round. You could be the starter. PPR monster there. Kenneth Dixon in the 14th round. Maybe he becomes.
Mike Wright
That one's nice.
Andy Holloway
You know, maybe that's more your style. But the. The point is this. You don't want to not go into your draft knowing who you're targeting late because it will inform how you draft in those middle rounds, especially when you're drafting in the fourth, the third, the fifth, you know, where making the decisions there's not. You're not going to be able to have infinite running backs you like and infinite wide receivers you like. You have to choose one type. And I always prefer the drafts when I leave, knowing the end and I go, I want this guy, this guy, or this guy within this position. So therefore I like this wide receiver and running back. I'm going the other way early. Know the end from the beginning. That's my tip to you.
Jason Moore
Impressive.
Mike Wright
It worked out in the end.
Andy Holloway
What do we got, a clap?
Jason Moore
Do we like it?
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah.
Jason Moore
So let me try this out. In Dynasty League this year, me versus you know, the end from the beginning. Withdraw now.
Andy Holloway
Them fighting words.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And that trophy should be on this side.
Mike Wright
My two silver trophies look almost as good as your one gold.
Jason Moore
Thank you. All right, let's move on. Are you ready to lay this one out there? This was from.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Jason Moore
This is a big one.
Andy Holloway
Number one.
Jason Moore
It's so big that it. It's very loud.
Mike Wright
So we got two tips here.
Jason Moore
This is a two step, very easy. Number one, to implement.
Mike Wright
Identify the problem. Number two, fix it. It's easy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
All right.
Andy Holloway
This is about. Yeah.
Mike Wright
Your job is done.
Andy Holloway
This is the time of year that this advice needs to be given. We talk about this at the end of the year, but right now, you're about to head into your leagues. You're going to take this into America, into nay, the world. And you're going.
Jason Moore
You're already in America.
Andy Holloway
What? Well, yeah, but they're gonna. Not the people listening at home, huh? Maybe we're an international fan.
Jason Moore
They're in America, too. Mostly there are the Bonjours.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, bonjour. Thank you, people. But you need to go to your league now and fix the problems that are broken. Fix the stupid rules in your league.
Jason Moore
Cause we're tired of the emails. You play in some dumb leagues. Identify the problem, Fix it.
Mike Wright
We're talking about your waiver system. Get fab in. Get it in.
Andy Holloway
And.
Mike Wright
And I know I. I know it sounds like the majority of you are. Are with us, but there are. I. I would dare say the majority of players still use the old waiver system because they're worried about fab. It's. I get it. It's intimidating. It took me some time to convince our entire league to get with it, but it's fair.
Jason Moore
Well, and some people think there are multiple options, but we have microphones, so we're telling you the right ones.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, and when you do that, turn on $0 bidding. You know, you close waivers the one day on the Tuesday so that people can have. And then every day have it run. It's a great system.
Jason Moore
Raise your hand if you play in a league that plays in week 17.
Mike Wright
It's okay. It's all right. It's. No, no. Do not shame this man.
Andy Holloway
Wait, wait.
Jason Moore
Will you escort him out, please?
Andy Holloway
We identified there. We identified the problems. Now we're fixing it. Get out of here.
Jason Moore
I guess now, he could do that, though. He could do the fix now. Yeah, if he wants to stay there.
Andy Holloway
Look, there are at least. There are at least arguments to be made for a waiver system that you could try to say is better, but there is not an argument for week 17 championships.
Mike Wright
Oh, no.
Andy Holloway
He's getting.
Jason Moore
I don't normally try those things, but is it more? Isn't more football better?
Andy Holloway
Oh, the more football better. No, come on. You want. You want to have the players that have gotten you to your championship. You put it this way. You spend the entire year to get to the championship. You draft guys, you trade for guys, you sign guys. Don't you want them playing in the Super Bowl? Yeah, fix it. We identified the problem. You fixed it.
Mike Wright
Transaction restrictions.
Jason Moore
Oh, you hate those.
Mike Wright
It limits the fun.
Jason Moore
Gross.
Mike Wright
And this is another.
Jason Moore
I want my league only to be so fun.
Mike Wright
Another reminder, medium fun. We're asked, we're asked frequently, how do I make my league more fun? And the. The truth is, the more active your league is, the more fun it is going to become. And putting a restriction on how many moves I can make in a week or a season. You're cutting down on fun. You want the league to be better. There's no reason to have to restrict how many times a player can make a free agent move.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, this is really. It's.
Jason Moore
There are a lot of leagues that have gone for a long time that just need to, like, modernize some of those things. Decimal scoring and eliminating, like, Older or uncommon or retired rules and you can play however you want.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
I mean, that's our advice. Help you very much.
Andy Holloway
Different, unique leagues are awesome. Shout out to Scott Fish in the house. The Scotty Fishbowl. He makes different rules every year and makes it interesting. I love different leagues. You can definitely play in different leagues. But what we're really talking about with this tip, this fix it tip, is that your goal. Your goal should be the most fun league. That should be the goal.
Jason Moore
When you structure rules as a commissioner, that's your job.
Andy Holloway
Yes. It's not to stay how it's been.
Jason Moore
And part of that might be you're in a 12 team league with 10 good owners and two dead owners.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
And you have to write an uncomfortable email and that's it. So any others you want to add to? I want to get into our triple M. Oh, Minneapolis, warm up your. I want to get into the mailbag, people.
Mike Wright
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Because we're bringing. We're bringing the Godfather up. Paul Charchian is joining us. He is blessing us with his presence. He's going to answer the questions with us.
Jason Moore
We're waiting for the official charts.
Mike Wright
Wherever you're at, get on up. Come on up, because we are not doing the mailbag drop.
Jason Moore
Jay Gris has your mic.
Mike Wright
Church is going to be blasted in the face with the awesomeness of the mailbag.
Jason Moore
I want to feel wind. I want to feel wind. And if you were one of the ones selected to ask a question, you can line up now in the middle and we'll answer your question. Get up here, Charge. Round of applause for Paul Charchian.
Paul Charchian
I could not have been farther apart.
Jason Moore
I think.
Paul Charchian
I think we are on. Yes.
Jason Moore
You got it.
Andy Holloway
Absolutely. Yes.
Mike Wright
All right, is everyone ready?
Jason Moore
Very important. You get one shot. If you've listened to Jason, you know, you only get one shot. You guys are doing it. Get up.
Mike Wright
Are you kidding me?
Andy Holloway
Are we ready? Mailbag. Well done.
Jason Moore
That was spectacular. The Foot Clan, even the guy in the week 17 league sounded good. It was incredible. Well, welcome up here, Paul. It's.
Paul Charchian
It's fantastic to be here. I love this.
Jason Moore
Let's bestow some knowledge.
Paul Charchian
Does Minnesota love you guys or what?
Andy Holloway
I think so, yeah.
Jason Moore
It's been. We've been here all week. We were at the fsda, obviously, the conference. This place is great. You have green grass, people outside, trees.
Andy Holloway
And things, Things that grow in nature.
Jason Moore
The weather was great. The stadium's incredible.
Mike Wright
The plants aren't trying to kill you.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
All right. Please state Your name and your question name's Andrew from. Oh, you got to talk in the microphone then, man.
Jason Moore
Take control. Take control of that microphone.
Mike Wright
Tech team is coming.
Jason Moore
Eat the mic.
Mike Wright
We've identified the problem.
Andy Holloway
Fix it. Fix that. Name is Andrew from Minnesota. Hey, so many fantasy leagues have punishments for whoever gets last in our league. What's the most embarrassing punishment you would condone for somebody that's lost points?
Jason Moore
Kadone is different than I've got a good one. Oh, let's hear it.
Paul Charchian
If embarrassment is what you're looking for. Do people know Reddit? Do you know about this horrific Reddit subreddit called Roast Me? So the premise of Roast Me is you hold up a picture of yourself and Reddit destroys you.
Andy Holloway
Oh, man.
Paul Charchian
And it is savage and humiliating and making must do it.
Andy Holloway
Oh, that is. That is. Wow.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I love it. That is spectacular.
Mike Wright
I'm not going to answer because my answer will be bad.
Jason Moore
That is awesome. All right, let's grab another.
Andy Holloway
Definitely download Wheel of Water.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we normally make the. The dead last loser. They get like 12 cups of water from the wheel of water thrown on them and then they draft soaking wet. It's pathetic. I've never experienced it, obviously.
Andy Holloway
That is so good.
Jason Moore
That is incredible.
Andy Holloway
Get roasted. Oh, man.
Paul Charchian
For public embarrassment. It doesn't get any better than Roast Me.
Jason Moore
Yes, Jason, Next question.
Andy Holloway
No, thank you. Next question.
Jason Moore
Thank you. My name is Norris from Minneapolis and.
Andy Holloway
This first round looks very promising. But like you guys said, everybody busts. So who's one player going in the first round that you guys are kind of worried about or has a big bus but potential?
Jason Moore
I brought up Kareem Hunt's name.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Jason Moore
Just because I don't trust Andy Reid very much. And I. He was forced into such a workload. I don't think that was the plan. Obviously, with what happened to Spencer we and the inefficiency behind him, I've brought up his name as a possibility. You never. That's the hard thing about the first round. You always. There's always two or three.
Andy Holloway
We.
Jason Moore
I named four earlier.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, there.
Jason Moore
There's always very difficult to identify one, but he's one that comes to mind. Do you have.
Andy Holloway
There's always a few. And obviously the guys that are going in the first round are guys that most of us like right now. But if I had to predict one, Leonard Fournette comes to mind for two reasons. Look, I like him.
Jason Moore
90 Steele owners. Be quiet.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I drafted him today in a draft league. I'm not anti Leonard Fournette, but The reality is he gets injured a lot. He did in college, he did last year in the NFL. And some of the injury experts that I trust, they worry about the specific types of injuries he's had. So injury is probably the most common reason for first round running back busts. That would be where I would lean then.
Jason Moore
You got a name? Paul.
Paul Charchian
Well, you took really my first two options, but just to be different maybe. And Kareem Hunt's my top guy for that. And I loved Kareem Hunt last preseason. Talked about great play preseason. Spencer Ware coming back is a factor for him. And Ware was a proven goal line guy. People don't like this. And you guys love Saquon Barkley and I do too. Crazy talent, but there are so many moving parts on this young team, right? New coach, new offensive coordinator, a still probably borderline terrible offensive line. Maybe it doesn't all come together in New York for Saquon Barkley to be worth that first round pick.
Andy Holloway
He was almost the one I went with because of everyone out there, he's the only one we haven't seen yet in the NFL.
Jason Moore
If Eli falters early, that could be trouble for him because the offense could just be so inefficient that it doesn't matter at Eli's age.
Paul Charchian
We say this about a lot of old quarterbacks. When the end comes, it comes quickly and it comes with injury guys in Phoenix, you might be familiar with that, with older quarterbacks. Right. And oh, man, when that happens, you know, the whole offense goes under.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's not good. Mike, do you have one name?
Mike Wright
The one who stands out the most? I'm with Jason. That Leonard Fournette is just. He's got some very red flags.
Andy Holloway
They're super red. It's just a couple, but they're so red.
Mike Wright
Very, very rich, vibrant.
Jason Moore
Right, Jason?
Andy Holloway
Next question.
Paul Charchian
Whoa, that was cool.
Mike Wright
Oh, my man.
Jason Moore
Shout out. So I'm bringing it. I'm Brett from Bismarck, North Dakota. What's up, Brett?
Andy Holloway
I feel like we're in the peak.
Mike Wright
Of best ball season.
Andy Holloway
Frequenting them on the draft app, of course.
Jason Moore
I want to know what your biggest.
Mike Wright
Changes in draft strategy are from best.
Jason Moore
Ball to season long leagues.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so best strategy changes. Now when you say best ball, we've got to first at least clarify that there's a lot of different. Some have defenses, some have kickers, some have neither. And you can draft with three guys, four guys in a league. I mean, if you go on draft, that's a really common format. So I'll give one Tip for that that I think is I feel like it's a cheat code and I know I do it when I'm in a three man league and this stinks because now it's going to happen again more. I'm playing against you guys in draft all the time. But if I'm in a three man league, I love to capture Gronk, Ertz and Kelsey, all three if I can after I get my running backs and I know a lot of you might go but when you three person team. Yeah in a three man league because it leaves the other people trash. And the truth is everyone's team looks great at the end. Your running backs are still going to be great, especially if you go running back. Running back to start. The wide receivers are still great because there's only three people in the league. But after that there's a teardrop off to death. It's not that way in quarterback. Right. If you took Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson, there's 20 guys. I still like that we did it that way.
Jason Moore
At tight five person basketball, Kirk Cousins went in the 17th of the 18 rounds.
Andy Holloway
Right. So if you're in one of those small ones, that's a tip. Go ahead, Charles.
Paul Charchian
Okay, I'll go. And by the way, I think the tight end drafting that's going to be my overriding premise. I think all preseason for all draft advice is get one of the four or five good guys because the drop off is just precipitous and there's no finding help in most cases. For best ball my risk tolerance goes way up on the guys that have high variance in their output because I'm going to have in a typical like my fantasy league 10s, MFL 10s, I'm going to have six wide receivers. You know, a couple of them are going to have really good games. So I'll take guys that have the high up and downs and I less need those steady.
Jason Moore
Suddenly Will Fuller and Will Fuller, Sean. Yeah, they start to look a lot better.
Andy Holloway
I actually like Jimmy Graham in those leagues.
Jason Moore
Good example.
Paul Charchian
Touchdown or nothing, right? Yeah, perfect example.
Mike Wright
My general strategy is once I hit about round seven and these are full, these are 1012 team. Once I hit about round seven, round eight, that's when I start hitting the nitro button like Paul was talking about. I hit those high variance, really high ceiling guys, I'm taking them early. I don't care because I feel like my first seven picks they're going to give me what I need weekly and then the second half of my team. That's where. That's where I want my full turbo jets to hit.
Andy Holloway
It's not like season long where you need to make the playoffs first and you need the consistency. You have to win if you want the money. You have to finish first or maybe second, depending on the. On the league. So. Yeah. All right, next question.
Jason Moore
I like it and I hate it. A little scary. Jeff from Eagan.
Andy Holloway
Oh, Eagan. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Jeff, first off, I just want to say, Mr. Church in you told last year to hold on to Evan Ingram and Alvin Kamara. And I did.
Paul Charchian
Thank you very much.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Usually hoping it was going that direction.
Andy Holloway
I really was.
Paul Charchian
I was, too. I was nervous.
Jason Moore
I don't remember this guy.
Paul Charchian
Y.
Andy Holloway
But you're.
Jason Moore
You also said to hang on to Matt Breida, and I did, and that didn't pan out. Right.
Mike Wright
Nothing lost.
Jason Moore
There we go.
Paul Charchian
Anyway, Camara made up for that, I think.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Yeah. Jason, you said I could bring you a gift as long as it wasn't dangerous.
Andy Holloway
Oh, what is this?
Jason Moore
So I made you a Cohen T shirt. T shirt.
Mike Wright
Cohen the dinosaur hunter. Hold that up. Camera. Make sure you get a shot on this.
Jason Moore
Yeah, show the camera so that the people at home listening can see that. That's a nice shirt. That is some good work. That was my first time ever using Photoshop. Unbelievable.
Mike Wright
Nicely done.
Paul Charchian
He made it himself.
Andy Holloway
Oh, Turok. Dinosaur hunts are going. What's your question, best friend? Jeff?
Jason Moore
I wrote a poem. Oh, a poem.
Andy Holloway
Question.
Jason Moore
Just kidding. Just kidding.
Paul Charchian
All right, so we light some candles.
Jason Moore
I'm in a new dynasty league. I've never done dynasty before, and actually a lot of people in the league are new to it. It's all Foot Clan members. One person suggested we were talking about.
Andy Holloway
Mitigating damage on people abandoning and bailing out on the league.
Jason Moore
Somebody suggested that we have people pay for the next year if they want to trade, like, future picks so that.
Andy Holloway
Way they're not screwing over the person.
Jason Moore
That would take over.
Andy Holloway
So then I was kind of wondering.
Jason Moore
Like, is there a way to incentivize maybe a new owner or anything like that?
Paul Charchian
Empire League. Somebody said, thanks, guys. Can we talk about it?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, tell us. Please do tell the people.
Paul Charchian
So this is a Dynasty League variant I devised about five or six years ago, and it solves this very problem. Here's how it works. Standard Dynasty League.
Jason Moore
Say the name of it again.
Paul Charchian
An Empire League.
Jason Moore
Got it.
Paul Charchian
And Standard Dynasty League, but with two critical changes. Number one, at the end of the year, your winners only get half the pot. The rest of it is rolling from year to year, waiting for somebody to win twice. When somebody goes back to back, they pay out that year. They pay out the rolling pot.
Jason Moore
Oh, the jackpot.
Paul Charchian
The jackpot. And then. And this is the part I really love, the league is over. Leagues never end in fantasy football. The league is over, and you want to start from scratch. Go for it. And the beauty of the dynasty league is because your team was good last year, it's probably going to be good this year. You really do have a chance of going back to back. And now, because everybody's paid in and there's this big rolling pot, people don't leave the league.
Andy Holloway
Oh, that is pretty interesting. And if you don't have back to back for 10, 11 years, that's it. You don't want to leave, and you get paid.
Paul Charchian
Yeah. And by the way, when you win and the whole league is gunning for you and everybody wants you to lose, that is the best.
Jason Moore
I love it. Awesome. I love it. Thanks, guys.
Mike Wright
Thank you, Jason.
Andy Holloway
Next question.
Mike Wright
It's getting worse.
Jason Moore
It's getting scarier.
Andy Holloway
For those listening at home, they might not realize how much it's echoing in.
Mike Wright
Here every time they're hearing it.
Andy Holloway
Oh, fantastic.
Jason Moore
It's intimidating.
Andy Holloway
I walk up, and you guys are.
Mike Wright
Just like, we're very high up. You're very low.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. All right.
Mike Wright
Blow up.
Andy Holloway
Yes. Down there. My name is Sawyer. I'm from up near Duluth, Minnesota. Awesome Sawyer.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I got a shout out to my.
Andy Holloway
League of record because my commissioner was like, yeah, we're gonna boot you if you don't shout us out.
Jason Moore
So that's fair.
Andy Holloway
Guess where I met him.
Mike Wright
Oh, where did you meet him?
Jason Moore
Booklandleagues.com. yeah, buddy. Best league ever.
Andy Holloway
All right. But my question is, Jason, I know.
Paul Charchian
You like the shirt.
Andy Holloway
That's awesome.
Jason Moore
You love that guy.
Andy Holloway
You're not gonna like me. Oh, bring it, because I want to know what happened. What did Larry Fitzgerald do to hurt you? Oh, my goodness. Larry Fitzgerald. I. I can't. Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry. Legend. Larry. Pro Bowl.
Jason Moore
They like him up here, too. So what.
Andy Holloway
What did he do to you? I've got. I have something to say. We like him up here, too. Oh, now, you might. I. I got some grief early, early, early about the Larry Fitzgerald rankings because, you know, I didn't have him in a certain spot. But here's the problem. I'm just verifying. Yeah. I wanted to make sure on our.
Mike Wright
Oh, I know what's coming.
Andy Holloway
I want to make sure that I was right. I am actually not the Lowest question. I am not the lowest on Larry Fitzgerald. It's Andy Holloway. Bo. Andy.
Jason Moore
Does he be number one?
Andy Holloway
Andy, why do you hate Larry Fitzgerald?
Jason Moore
To fabricate moments like this on a live show.
Andy Holloway
Thank you.
Mike Wright
Thanks, man.
Jason Moore
Jason moved up after all the hate, so if you email him, he'll change his rankings. That's what I want you to understand.
Mike Wright
I know this face.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah?
Jason Moore
What's up?
Andy Holloway
Next question.
Mike Wright
Face only a mother could love. Oh, I got in there.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
That didn't echo very well.
Jason Moore
That was.
Mike Wright
I was insulting you and whatever.
Andy Holloway
John Paul Hurley. Minneapolis.
Mike Wright
What's up, Hurley?
Andy Holloway
What's up? Not a lot. Not a lot. I don't have any gifts, so I apologize.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it's all right.
Andy Holloway
Next question.
Jason Moore
Here's my cell phone.
Andy Holloway
Cell phone. You can have this.
Jason Moore
He's giving you his cell phone.
Andy Holloway
You may talk.
Jason Moore
That's all I got. All right.
Paul Charchian
Which New York Football Giants player will.
Andy Holloway
Finish the best at their position in.
Jason Moore
2018 for fantasy points? I like the way that question's worded, though, because you're thinking of it in terms of every position.
Andy Holloway
My answer would 100% be Odell Beckham Jr. I mean, I think he is. Is locked in there. I think Evan Ingram could. Could possibly regress from where he's at. Saquon. We haven't seen Eli. New Jean. Sorry. I really like him as a late pick, but I. I think it has to be odell.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
Almost 1400 yards and 12 touchdowns per season. I mean, when he's healthy, it's Odell Beckham.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Charge.
Paul Charchian
I'll take Evan Ingram. Just because the lack of competition, right?
Jason Moore
Well, yeah.
Paul Charchian
Fall into.
Jason Moore
The odds of being top five are very high.
Paul Charchian
Yeah, exactly.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Fair enough.
Paul Charchian
There's a second part to that.
Andy Holloway
Whoa, whoa. Trick question. Which one of those guys will outperform their adp? Oh, oh. Eli Manning.
Mike Wright
But I'll go. Eli.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Out of those two guys.
Jason Moore
Saquon, Angam, and.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Then I'd have to go. Ooh.
Jason Moore
Jason's thinking they're just yelling nicknames now.
Andy Holloway
I need to see real quick.
Paul Charchian
Okay, I'll. I'll jump in for just a second. While Jason tries to collect his thoughts. You know, rookie tight ends never do anything. What Evan Ingram just did is a once, like a decade performance. There is a chance next year. He is the number one ranked tight end. I think he has got more. He's.
Andy Holloway
He don't care.
Jason Moore
Put on the hay blockers.
Paul Charchian
Yeah, put on the hay blockers. I would accept. I would put them on. Except for the head Lice issue, which, you know, I want to keep.
Andy Holloway
I'm working on that.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Paul Charchian
Thank you. Thank you.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. No, I, I would agree. I think it is Evan Ingram. I, I wanted to see where Odell was technically adp. He's three. Could he finish two or one? Absolutely.
Jason Moore
But the odds aren't.
Andy Holloway
I think Evan Ingram has a higher chance to outperform his adp. Thank you.
Jason Moore
Appreciate it.
Andy Holloway
Next question. Hey, baller. Hey, ballers. My name is Chris Workman. What's up at worky 27 Hudson, Wisconsin. That's.
Jason Moore
It's to be expected.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
You know, stand tall.
Andy Holloway
All right. My question is on the diggity scale. And if you're not aware of how the scale works, it is from no diggity to no doubt, all of the diggity, where no diggity is synonymous with no doubt. And all of the diggity would be all of the doubt.
Mike Wright
Of course.
Jason Moore
And in between, we have your specialty, Mike.
Mike Wright
We're completely tracking.
Andy Holloway
In between, we have some diggity, a fair amount of diggity, a decent amount of diggity, etc. How confident are you with the recent news on Jameis Winston, on whether or not Mike Evans will return value as a wide receiver? One this season?
Mike Wright
That's a great question.
Jason Moore
We had so much to talk about today. We thought we were going to get into the Jameis Winston stuff on Thursday, but we should, we should talk now.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Breaking news, Breaking news. Jameis Winston has been suspended for three games for some bad, bad behavior. He was a naughty boy and he got suspended three games. Now, I'm sure he will, he will appeal. It could.
Jason Moore
It won't change, probably. Maybe it goes down to two. I mean, but let's talk principally, do you believe that that damages the skill position players around him enough with Ryan Fitzpatrick managing to find himself in a starting role again?
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. It's Ryan Fitzmagic time. And while he's a gunslinger, he recently was not very efficient targeting Mike.
Jason Moore
It was pretty ugly.
Mike Wright
You actually, you saw a bump for DeSean Jackson. It's so it's three games, I bet. I'm going to project that Mike Evans will actually take a slight dip and he's already kind of on that cusp of a 1, 2. So I think by the time redraft season is really going, he's going to be a wide receiver too. And then I'll still be confident that he's going to return value.
Andy Holloway
What about Rojo Ronald Jones? He wants to know about.
Mike Wright
He wants to know about the Bust.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Ronald Jones is a bust.
Mike Wright
Oh.
Jason Moore
I think you're doing what they wanted you to do.
Mike Wright
Charge. How do you feel about Evans?
Paul Charchian
I think he will slide. I think he's going to slide a lot. Even more than. Than you were suggesting. I could see him sliding half around maybe. Maybe even more than that. On this news, there were already a lot of trepidation.
Jason Moore
Right.
Paul Charchian
So already half of your league was like, no chance. I'm taking him where he's going to go now. He had two or three more people into that mix. Now he's going to fall a lot. And I. I might actually think about. I might actually be thinking about him becoming a value guy. If he's going to fall to the top of the third round, sure, it's going to be pretty compelling, and I think that's going to happen a lot of leagues.
Andy Holloway
I do know that the opening schedule is a little bit difficult for Tampa Bay, so Fitz Fitzpatrick does not have the best track record in his splits against top nd's versus Bottom D. So it could be a rough start. But I do agree if. If Evans falls, which that'll be really interesting to see because it's not Evans that's being suspended. You don't lose those games. It'll be interesting. I tend to think he will not fall far enough to become a really good value given. Given the first three games. He might be a perfect trade candidate, though, after the poor schedule with Fitzmagic. Next question.
Mike Wright
He's very serious.
Andy Holloway
This mic was. I did not anticipate how tall this mic. You must be this tall to answer a question. First of all, what's your name? Noel from Minneapolis. Noel, so nice to meet you. Thank you. Actually, it's actually great to meet you guys because you three are the exact reason why as soon as I told my league mates about you three, these two troublemakers right here are the reason why I lost the last two years. Jose Cabrera. And they won the championship the last two years.
Mike Wright
Congratulations, fellas.
Andy Holloway
Because they said, I want to do a fab league and I apparently don't know how to do fab. No, my question for you guys is for our league. We took actually inspiration from you three where we actually do a podcast for our own league.
Mike Wright
Love it.
Jason Moore
Awesome.
Andy Holloway
And one of the things I wanted to ask was, was when you guys talk about or when you do the. When you did the show for your own league, what were the things that you talked about? What did you keep interesting to keep your league engaged?
Jason Moore
Look, we're playing a game about A game. And so we were, I think, aiming to make it sound way more important than it really is. So it was reviewing trades as though they were the most important thing that you could possibly do. It was insulting players for their moves and presuming that you know everything about it.
Andy Holloway
And the Reviewasaurus Rex that we have on this show that you are all probably familiar with, that was actually started on, on their show. It was the Tradeasaurus Rex. And every week they talk about the best trade. And I am not joking because I wasn't on that version of the podcast. I would make trades.
Mike Wright
You were trying to make the show.
Andy Holloway
To make the show. You darn right I did. And I was so pissed when I was at the Tradeosaurus Rex.
Mike Wright
I was like, oh, you're so worthy. And we would, we would check out who. What start sit decisions did people make. Did you botch something?
Jason Moore
Oh, we had power rankings.
Mike Wright
Someone who's on power rankings, so.
Paul Charchian
But I love it.
Jason Moore
I love that you're doing that. That's amazing.
Mike Wright
And just lots of garbage. Just talking. So it was. It doesn't matter if you're losing because they don't have a microphone.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
The very, the very first question these two asked me this year is, hey, Noel, you still want to do Fab this year? I'm like, okay, fine. All right, I get it. I haven't made the playoffs.
Jason Moore
Time to step up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, you can listen to the show, too. Next question.
Jason Moore
Right on. Now you can raise it back up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Hi, I. Hi. I am E. I M E live from Chisago, and I am in a 10 person auction keeper league. And I am keeping. I. I get to keep three. Three people. I am keeping Odell for eight, Kamara for two. And. And then for my third spot, I sort of need some help.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
I have Gough for one. I have. I have Allen Robertson for one. And I have Hunt.
Mike Wright
Okay. And a single quarterback. Single.
Jason Moore
So two. Wonderful. Amazing.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
So cheap keepers.
Mike Wright
Jared Goff is. Is gone because.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
I would only pay a dollar for him in the upcoming auction. It's between hunts. And who was the middle?
Jason Moore
Robinson for a dollar or hunt for 12? Where do you lean?
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Charge.
Paul Charchian
It's not close. Hunt's gonna go for 30 or something at your auction. And you know, you're saving so much money.
Jason Moore
It's a value difference.
Paul Charchian
To me.
Jason Moore
It's.
Paul Charchian
It's. Yeah, it's all about the value difference. And to me, it's not close.
Andy Holloway
I completely agree. The fact that we earlier brought up the fact that Hunt could Be a bust. But the value is it's still, it's. It's so much Hunt here that even with that factored in, the answer is Kareem Hunt.
Mike Wright
Kareem Hunt.
Jason Moore
That is a really nice three pack to walk into the season with.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Congrats.
Jason Moore
Thanks for the question.
Andy Holloway
Awesome. Next question, final with the.
Jason Moore
I love.
Mike Wright
Thank you.
Jason Moore
The I love Michael Keaton shirt. I love Michael Keaton.
Mike Wright
I love Michael Keaton.
Jason Moore
I found a pair of overalls in the dumpster last year that said Mike Evans and Char, I think they were yours.
Mike Wright
So bodied, local angle.
Jason Moore
My question is actually a question of the heart and the head. So I have players that with my heart I want to take and with my head, I know it's not a good idea.
Mike Wright
Jerick McKinnon.
Jason Moore
My heart says yes, my head says no. And then there's a guy in Buffalo named Calvin Benjamin or my head says yes, but my heart says no. So my question is, who are your heart and head players, fantasy footballers going.
Mike Wright
To say my bowels say yes to Kelvin Benjamin.
Jason Moore
I did the van stance earlier, so.
Paul Charchian
Give me to me straight.
Mike Wright
Sure. So heart and head players. You guys have someone on the top.
Paul Charchian
I'll take somebody off the top of my mind. Sony, Michel is an awesome player and I think he can be a phenomenal back. But he's a patriots runner.
Jason Moore
You want to ignore that part?
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Paul Charchian
My heart is like, I'm all in on this guy. And you watch all this college film and he's devastating opponents, but he's going to be a Patriots running back. And we all know how hard it is to figure out which guy, which game. And so my head says no. My heart says, sony, Michelle, I want to spoon you.
Mike Wright
Oh, oh my, oh, oh my. A player I'm going to throw out who was one of my favorite running backs through the draft process. And then a team made it a little bit more difficult because they traded up to get him in the second round. I apologize for doing this to you, Jason, but Kerryon Johnson is. Is my heart and head player because my heart tells me that I. What I saw from Kerryon Johnson was a really freaking good running back. And that offensive line is far more improved than people truly realize. But he legarrett Blunt is still there. He was still a factor this past season. They already have a dedicated pass catching running back. Can Kerryon Johnson really take over a workhorse or just even a majority role on that team? So my. My head is. My head's telling me I'm out.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it's Josh Gordon. For me, it's Josh Gordon because you see, not only does he, I mean, have all the tools, but he's also produced before. And then I have to realize where he's at. I have to realize that Tyrod Taylor and the yardage, it doesn't stack up to what I hope for. I probably still draft him.
Andy Holloway
To me, it's a guy I loved coming out of college. I loved having him last year. My heart is Kobe Fleen on Kenyon Drake. I just love his talent. My head says he's not going to get the ball enough for where he's being drafted. So he is a true heart versus head guy that I have a. I want to draft him and I'm not going to. I think that answers another question which I tend to at the end, lean to my head over my heart. Which one of you. Which one of your body parts liked Kelvin Benjamin?
Jason Moore
Not. Not my torso.
Andy Holloway
Not my torso. Just follow everything else but the body part. Oh, man.
Mike Wright
That could have gone bad.
Andy Holloway
All right, next question. Hey, I'm Dan from Big Lake. I lost.
Jason Moore
What's up, Dan?
Andy Holloway
I lost Hunter Henry for the year. I was wondering if you guys had somebody outside the top 15 to maybe target.
Jason Moore
I'm gonna bring a name up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Outside the top 15. Dynasty, Austin Safari and Jenkins.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
That's where I was going in Jacksonville. Yeah, I think last year we wanted to see a little bit more. He ended up being a guy that didn't stretch the field, but he's a really good player. He's still super young. A lot of good reports on ASJ in Jacksonville and the way that the depth chart at the wide receiver position shaking out, we don't really know. I mean, Marquis Lee was really bad from a metric perspective last year. He's not necessarily a one. I think ASJ could have a very important role and we, you know, Mercedes Lewis was not a ASJ type of talent and still ended up in the end zone from time to time. So I think that ASJ is a target way outside the bounds of the top 15.
Mike Wright
But Trey Boo Boo's a. He's.
Jason Moore
He's like an 8th round pick right now.
Mike Wright
He's going early. My. My favorite tight end sleeper.
Jason Moore
Yeah, you don't.
Andy Holloway
He.
Mike Wright
He made you remove your pants and you did the Vance dance last year in the playoffs. I love him.
Jason Moore
Not during the season.
Mike Wright
His name is Vance McDonald.
Jason Moore
There you go.
Andy Holloway
You're welcome.
Mike Wright
There's. There's already very positive reports coming from Beatright beat reporters for the Steelers. They are. They're talking him up already that they're gonna have. They're going to feature him in the offense. So I'm very excited.
Jason Moore
Their coaches are here. They're screaming that they're gonna do it. So.
Paul Charchian
Let me ask you guys, anything to Ricky Seals Jones in year two.
Mike Wright
I almost went. Ricky Seals, sure.
Jason Moore
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Paul Charchian
There we go.
Andy Holloway
Oh, no.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
It has happened.
Jason Moore
I knew that one day I would grow up and work really hard and sit on a stage and have Seal noises made in me. And I did it.
Paul Charchian
You know, there were flashes of. There were flashes of real. Of signs of development for him. And then he disappeared for a game. Get like, you know, no catches.
Jason Moore
I mean, he's a pass catcher. That's what he is. He can catch the ball. So I think, you know, they talk about featuring him, they talk about using him. He's a good outside the top 15 monitor.
Mike Wright
Jermaine Gresham. That's what it's about. Is Gresham going to be ready for the beginning of the season?
Andy Holloway
I don't think he will.
Mike Wright
He probably won't.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I don't think he's going to be ready for the beginning of the season. And the, The. The combination between Christian Kirk and Ricky Seals Jones college teammates, you know, they, they're. They're working out together. They're involved in this offense, every staff. Yeah. I really like it.
Jason Moore
All right, we have one final question coming in. Thank you. Thank you very much.
Andy Holloway
You.
Jason Moore
Samuel. Samuel Bennett has the last question. And Samuel is actually. Not only is it his birthday.
Andy Holloway
What?
Jason Moore
Which we found out after he won this.
Andy Holloway
Oh. Happy birthday.
Jason Moore
He was the official winner of the autographed Adam Thielen. I'm gonna give it to you right now. Stefan Diggs helmet. Look at that.
Andy Holloway
Oh, he takes his hat off.
Jason Moore
He's gonna try to put it on the replica helmet. Good luck. I wouldn't.
Andy Holloway
What is this?
Mike Wright
He's got gifts for us.
Jason Moore
These are spectacular. Minnesota, nice.
Andy Holloway
Minnesota, nice.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Mike Wright
Yes. You.
Jason Moore
Well, you can't play in it. You don't get to become them. But you have our final question and congratulations. We're giving away an autographed piece of memorabilia at each of our shows, courtesy of pristine auction. So congratulations and happy birthday and thank you.
Andy Holloway
I just had a little small business. That's my shameless shop. Into the mic.
Jason Moore
Turn the mic up.
Andy Holloway
Taller than other people.
Jason Moore
Gave Josh some love. That's nice.
Andy Holloway
Wow. He was one who answered the email.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So asking for a friend.
Mike Wright
Of course.
Jason Moore
Of course.
Mike Wright
Of course.
Jason Moore
And you can't say it's gonna be good.
Andy Holloway
You can't say Jimmy gq. Who's the sexiest NFL player?
Mike Wright
Oh, you've come to the right place. Tyler Ifer, he's. He just, he's not sustaining.
Jason Moore
You can't say Jimmy GQ. EIford EIfords let you down in a, in the performance department, but does this. I didn't know. I didn't know. I went with it. It's all the eyes. Eric Decker's a free agent.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's where I was going to go. Does the player have to be on an NFL team?
Andy Holloway
Well, and Julian Edelman got suspended. Are there any. Are there. Who's. Who's still playing football? This. If you're really good looking, you just go, I'm done with this.
Jason Moore
The sexiest players are the ones that score the most points.
Mike Wright
So clearly this question has to be fielded by our esteemed guest, Paul Sartion.
Paul Charchian
No chance.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I, I don't know. I guess those are the, those are the most common characters.
Mike Wright
The beard. Julie Edelman's beard is just.
Jason Moore
You are an admirer.
Mike Wright
It takes him over the top.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Nick Mangold. Oh, former NFL center.
Jason Moore
Give yourself a round of applause. Thank you so much for the questions. Thank you so much for being here. Thank you to the Cedar for, for hosting this fine event. Thank you to Paul Charjian for being our esteemed guest. Thank you to Draft for sponsoring these live events. Thanks to Damon Brooks in the back. A shout out the judge and be sure to check out draft.com Ballers play some best ball. And thank you so much.
Mike Wright
We will see you on Thursday.
Jason Moore
We'll see you on Thursday if we.
Mike Wright
Can survive this madness. Thank you so much. We love you all.
Andy Holloway

Podcast Title: Fantasy Footballers - Fantasy Football Podcast
Episode: 10 Tips & Tricks to Win Your League - LIVE in Minneapolis
Release Date: June 26, 2018
The Fantasy Footballers host trio—Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright—kick off the live episode from Draft.com Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The hosts are excited to engage with the live audience, announce upcoming live events in Dallas, Philadelphia, and New York, and introduce a special guest, Paul Charchian, a fantasy legend from Minneapolis.
To warm up, the hosts participate in a fun, interactive segment where they compare fantasy football players to food items, highlighting both positive and negative traits.
Andy Holloway opens with poutine, comparing it to Amari Cooper:
“Amari Cooper should have a lot of volume. It’s like enjoying poutine—you relish it, but sometimes you regret how much you’ve ordered.” ([03:47])
Mike Wright likens Danny Amendola to a bag of potato chips:
“They’re good, but when you open the bag, sometimes it's half empty or smashed. That’s how I feel about Amendola’s consistency.” ([05:13])
Jason Moore discusses Alex Smith as a Juicy Lucy burger, emphasizing his potential despite uncertainties:
“Alex Smith should not be ignored as a QB1 because he delivered over 4,000 passing yards last season.” ([07:08])
The hosts introduce the main segment, outlining that they will present 10 fresh tips and tricks to enhance fantasy football strategies for the 2018 season. Emphasizing a holistic approach, they stress the importance of understanding league dynamics, knowing opponents, and leveraging league formats beyond just statistical analysis.
Mike Wright introduces the concept of "coupon clipping," urging fantasy managers to draft players who are being overvalued by others. By identifying undervalued players like Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon, managers can capitalize on draft value without overreaching.
Notable Quote: “Clipping the coupons means taking players where they should be drafted, not reaching and overpaying.” ([10:05])
Jason Moore and Mike Wright discuss the pitfalls of falling in love with certain players, leading to overcommitting and lack of depth. They advise maintaining a balanced roster and being willing to make tough decisions when players underperform.
Notable Quote: “Love hurts because you might build an idyllic roster, but injuries or underperformance can derail your championship hopes.” ([13:11])
The hosts caution against playing it safe, such as focusing excessively on bye weeks or drafting handcuffs unnecessarily. Instead, they advocate for strategic risks, prioritizing depth, and being proactive in managing the roster.
Notable Quote: “Scared players draft handcuffs without real value and overlook deeper opportunities, costing them in the long run.” ([24:10])
Mike Wright introduces the "House of Horrors," referring to NFL teams or situations that fantasy managers typically avoid. These scenarios often contain hidden gems who can provide significant value if taken a chance.
Notable Quote: “These are the coal mines where league-winning players are found when you brave the unknown.” ([21:03])
Jason Moore emphasizes that fear can lead to poor fantasy decisions, such as overemphasis on bye weeks or unnecessary trades. Managers should trust their research and instincts rather than succumbing to anxiety.
Notable Quote: “Fear hurts because scared players make the worst fantasy football decisions.” ([24:10])
Andy Holloway underscores the importance of securing at least one stud running back who consistently delivers high fantasy points. Data shows running backs are more likely to provide weekly certainty compared to wide receivers.
