So boring.

Mike Wright
Andy Holloway. I believe I said Andy, Mike and Jason.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
You were third person.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Alphabetized. Oh, the first name.
Jason Moore
Not alphabetized.
Andy Holloway
The Alphabet is not my strongest point.
Mike Wright
We have a great show today. Today we're going to answer a ton of mailbag questions. Off season questions. Got a good quick question on the show today and I'm excited to begin. So let's do that. Jason Moore
Everyone that we have ever spoken with who are, you know, purveyors of both avenues, they always prefer the video podcast.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
What is this verbiage you're using over there?
Mike Wright
I was well done.
Jason Moore
Way above your level.
Mike Wright
This is 2018 upgrade. He got one of those calendars with the word listen, the word a day calendars. And he's been reading Purveyor Today's word listen.
Jason Moore
Mike and I are ready to crush this episode. These questions, they're just Big poppy home runs nonstop. Because Mike and I, we just were off the heels of crushing you, Andy, at pickleball this morning. Oh, yeah. I mean, we were down seven, nothing. But we came back. We won.
Mike Wright
Not against me.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. That was against our good friend Jeremy.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So, hey, Jeremy, you said you were.
Mike Wright
Crushing me, and I wasn't even a part of that.
Jason Moore
We were down six to two against you.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
I won.
Mike Wright
I won three or four games this morning. Thank you.
Andy Holloway
I just want to. I just want everyone.
Jason Moore
We're all going to crush it.
Andy Holloway
Everyone needs to know this. Jeremy, you suck.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Oh, that's a good point.
Mike Wright
All right, quick question on today's show comes in off of Twitter from Tim Bradyff. What do you guys look for the most from the NFL combine? We are at. We are at the combine. What do you look for most, Jason?
Jason Moore
Yeah, so it depends on each position. The fun one is obviously the 40. I really like looking at the speed of wide receivers specifically, and running backs as well. But my personal favorite thing to watch for is the receiving drills for the running backs because it is one of the only places where you can ever get a true apples to apples comparison of these guys as pass catchers. And I know it's not, you know, you're taking the game out of it, so, you know, it's. It's not a perfect representation, but you can really watch and see the fluidity. How natural are these guys at running these routes, catching the balls? You could see the difference between Leonard Fournette and Alvin Camara in the passing game in those drills. And you, you know, you watch them one right after the other and get a really good comparison. So that's my favorite event to watch.
Mike Wright
I like that.
Andy Holloway
What I like about the combine is right now my. My model for taking a look at these guys, it's just, it's production and market share. And, you know, certain guys start popping out and you're like, oh, I'm going to. I got to watch this guy. But then we can finally get the athletic measurables in there. Get a bit of a more complete look at these backs because you see, you'll see some players.
Mike Wright
Why don't you explain your production, market share thing a little bit?
Andy Holloway
So it's the production market share, the production and the market share. I'm taking a look, you know, historically at guys who perform well for fantasy purposes. What did they do in college? Because I, I don't know if you guys realize this.
Mike Wright
So college production and college market share, that's what you're Talking about. Yes.
Andy Holloway
That the majority of the time, players who are bad in college, they're bad in the NFL. They don't just, generally speaking, don't just match.
Mike Wright
Yeah. There are exceptions to every. Of course, to every rule.
Andy Holloway
But so you have a baseline, these guys for fantasy, they're doing this. They did this in college. Okay. Now, this young group of college running backs, how do they compare to that? Just their overall production, which it can be skewed because some guys play, you know, two years, some guys play three, some four, and then their market share, their final year of. Of their college career. How do they compare to these vets? So some guys start popping off here, and then when you get a real good look at their actual athletic measurables, it just starts shaping the pie. I'm Patrick Swayze. Right now, I'm just molding the clay.
Jason Moore
Good old ghost reference.
Andy Holloway
Thank you, Jason.
Jason Moore
Oh, I was right behind you. I was right behind you. Helping out with my arms.
Andy Holloway
Appreciate you.
Mike Wright
I was just reflecting, remembering the great Arian Foster, my former. He's in my. You know, look, he's in the hall. No, I know. I know. He's in the hall of.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
My Mount Rushmore of fantasy players involved. It includes Arian Foster's beautiful bust up on there on the Rock. But I was just out of curiosity, I was just looking back, I was looking at that production he had, that monster junior year stunk as a senior. And then the combine.
Jason Moore
Combine was not kind.
Mike Wright
468 in the 40 just to Arian.
Jason Moore
Which is crazy because when you watched him play so fast.
Andy Holloway
He glides.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Well. And I don't say that to discount the combine. I guess when I'm looking at the combine from a fantasy perspective, I'm looking for players that surprise in either direction.
Andy Holloway
David Johnson style.
Mike Wright
Yeah. From what I've seen in college. And then, you know, I guess last year, an example that would have been Dalvin Cook. He surprised in a negative way.
Jason Moore
Correct.
Mike Wright
And that impacted his draft stock. But, yeah, you're trying to build out. I mean, Mike's been working hard at building out a model to predict there are outliers inside of those predictions. But, yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun to see who breaks out. Obviously, the story last year was Dalvin Cook's bad performances, but it was also John Ross and his speed.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Lack of wearing the right shoes.
Mike Wright
The big story was Chris Jones, so. Foot clangiveaway.com to be fair, that was the huge story. Oh, you're right. All right.
Jason Moore
That's Two years ago, right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it was.
Mike Wright
It feels like last year. Footclain giveaway.com A signed Todd Gurley left Bell jersey. You can enter to win over there. We're giving those away at the end of this month, March. Also, we're gonna do a show after the show.
Jason Moore
What?
Mike Wright
Because the demand is so high, I.
Andy Holloway
Don'T know if my voice is ready.
Jason Moore
Speaking of YouTube. Oh, that's right. You got the primal scream. Yeah.
Mike Wright
After today's episode, we're gonna bring you.
Jason Moore
A show after the show exclusively on our YouTube channel.
Mike Wright
YouTube.
Jason Moore
Is that their jingle?
Mike Wright
I don't know.
Jason Moore
Not as good as your bi minute.
Andy Holloway
It really sounded like Sega YouTube.
Mike Wright
All right, let's get into the news.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
We're gonna need a lawyer quick pronto.
Mike Wright
Brooks, you're a judge. You must know some lawyers. Nah. No. Okay, good.
Andy Holloway
He's very impartial. He's fair.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Never been in court. All right, news and notes. Some big news today. Jonathan Stewart has been released by the Carolina Panthers. Now, there are a couple of different ways to look at this from a fantasy perspective. I have been on point. I feel like with my trade offers in Dynasty league this offseason, I have pushed so hard for Christian McCaffrey for the last two months, I haven't been able to acquire him. Previously, I had pushed for Devonte Booker and then, you know, you have C.J. anderson and rumors abounding and Devontae Booker's opportunity there potential. But I missed out on my chance to get Christian McCaffrey. So the question to you guys is, do you take the perspective of, okay, this is good news for Christian McCaffrey because the former incumbent, the timeshare guy, Jon Stewart is now gone. And so the most familiarity in that offense, the most market share is going to go to Christian McCaffrey. Or do you look at it as a bad. As a bad sign because they're going to bring somebody in to compliment McCaffrey. You're not going to give him the between the tackles goal line necessarily. And whoever they bring in is probably better than Jonathan Stewart was.
Jason Moore
I think that whoever comes in, they might be more efficient than Jonathan Stewart was. Younger, fresher legs, but that's good for the offense. I don't think they're going to bring someone in who's going to get more volume. And that was the issue. So I do see more volume going to Christian McCaffrey. And you know, I'll just say this. I realize he's never done anything. I liked him Coming out of the draft long ago, and he's been in the shadows, but they, you know, if you're in a deeper, you know, dynamic.
Andy Holloway
You would have to resign him.
Jason Moore
Cameron Artist Payne?
Andy Holloway
Yes. His contract has expired. He is a free agent.
Jason Moore
Well, we'll see what they do. Peace.
Andy Holloway
Peace.
Jason Moore
Out.
Andy Holloway
I generally agree. I think Cameron Artist Payne's an interesting stash. Until I realized that he's 27.
Jason Moore
That's crazy.
Mike Wright
He's not 27. He's 25.
Andy Holloway
Cameron artist Payne?
Mike Wright
Yeah. He's 25.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that sounded crazy.
Mike Wright
He's 25 years old.
Jason Moore
Hold on. We got buddy.
Mike Wright
He was born June 23, 1992 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Cameron.
Andy Holloway
Hold on. Maybe I was looking at the wrong guy.
Jason Moore
And you were. He's 25 years old. Well, NFL.com does say 27.
Andy Holloway
Cameron on Spotrek has him at 27. I'm looking at it right now, but I see what you.
Mike Wright
I'm looking as well. I have him at 25. This is.
Andy Holloway
Where's. What's your. What's the source?
Mike Wright
My source?
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
Wikipedia.
Mike Wright
It is the profile in which Google presents.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Which is from.
Andy Holloway
This is a mystery.
Jason Moore
Look at it this way. It makes no sense for him.
Mike Wright
He's also 25 years old, according to pro football Reference.
Andy Holloway
Okay, wow. We got. There is a situation happening. How old is Cameron artist? Pain.
Jason Moore
He's 25. It makes no sense for him to be 25.
Andy Holloway
I was shocked. I shocked when I saw 27.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Because if you. If Wikipedia has him at 27, what is happening? They have him born June 23, 1990, whereas two different sources. How. Why? There's not a 26 in there. He's either 25 or he's 27.
Andy Holloway
We have a Kevin White situation going on here. I'm gonna need a birth certificate for when he was.
Mike Wright
I almost said for when he was born, for when he was drafted. 25 makes the most sense.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yes, it does.
Mike Wright
Brooks, can you call his mother? Call his mom, produce a birth certificate.
Andy Holloway
So let Cameron Artist paint regardless.
Mike Wright
Why are we even talking about it?
Jason Moore
If they re. Sign him, you know, they. They might have seen something that they like. They'll. It'll show you always follow what the team does. You know, he's 18.
Mike Wright
Carries is a. That's tough to see something you like.
Jason Moore
Well, but they see him on practice squad. They see him on the, you know, the team.
Mike Wright
Jonathan Stewart on the team? Yeah, on the team. Does Jonathan Stewart resurface what I'm looking for?
Andy Holloway
I doubt it. I doubt it.
Mike Wright
Okay, so you think Jonathan Stewart may be retired?
Andy Holloway
I do believe so.
Mike Wright
Just like Matt Forte announcing his retirement after 10 seasons in the NFL. Matt Forte tip of the cap.
Andy Holloway
Matt Forte career was an great fantasy player monster, great pass catcher.
Mike Wright
The.
Andy Holloway
The jets years. Like a lot of football players that, you know, you just. You remember he was positive, do you?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I'd say he positively surprised in. In New York. That's how I'd view it.
Jason Moore
When he first went to New York, expectations versus performance.
Andy Holloway
I think it's possible.
Jason Moore
I agree. When he first signed at New York, I think most people had already written his career off and he.
Andy Holloway
That's a fair point.
Jason Moore
You know, he still produced.
Andy Holloway
I just want people to remember Matt Forte on the Chicago Bears was an absolute stud.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we need like an applause track for retirement. Just for, you know, look, Matt Forte, you deserve applause. Nope, you did not deserve that.
Andy Holloway
Hold on. What are we.
Mike Wright
Why are we talking about Joy Bell or Jonathan Ste.
Andy Holloway
Come on.
Mike Wright
That's the retirement. That's the retirement Lumber. You lumber into retirement. That's what that sound is.
Andy Holloway
We all have to do it eventually.
Mike Wright
Yeah. All right. Caminardis Payne may have to do it sooner than we think. We don't know.
Jason Moore
No idea how old he is? One report says 35.
Andy Holloway
Turns out he's 26. He's just right in the middle.
Mike Wright
Michael Crabtree is coming back.
Andy Holloway
Fantastic.
Mike Wright
According to Victor, he's reporting that Michael Crabtree will be back. There were a lot of cut rumors. I think we had kind of thought he was coming back recently. Bears are going to release Mike Glennon. What a ride. What a ride it was for Mike Glennon. Ian Rapaport reports. Teddy Bridgewater is expected to be a free agent.
Andy Holloway
Mike Glennon and Brock Oswald.
Jason Moore
Have we.
Andy Holloway
Have we gone over this? The wallpaper, the official wallpaper the heck.
Mike Wright
Out of a room of a house.
Andy Holloway
I mean, I don't. I feel like we may have talked about this before, but it's still worth mentioning again that Glennon, Brock and Glennon, they're. They're a wallpaper company.
Mike Wright
It also shows.
Andy Holloway
No, no ceiling is too tall.
Mike Wright
It shows how far you can get on height alone. 6, 7 and 6. 6. Brock, Osweiler and Glennon. That's what they got. Osweiler wallpapering company. All right. Teddy Bridgewater expected to be a free agent according to Ian Rapaport. Well, okay. I'm very interested to see where he goes and what he can do.
Andy Holloway
This was just a confirmation of the contract situation and his injury. Did his years actually count towards free agency? So that's all that this was just cleaning up a little bit of a mess.
Mike Wright
Chris Ivory visiting the Bills and Browns on Monday and Tuesday. Both potential destinations for him compliment role in Buffalo, potentially as the banger back behind Lashawn McCoy.
Andy Holloway
I mean, I don't like it as Lashawn McCoy dynasty owner. I want them to be forced to give him goal line carries. But someone's coming in.
Mike Wright
We haven't seen anything from Chris Ivory in multiple years that makes you think he can be. He should be. He's been his premier back.
Jason Moore
But they were definitely.
Andy Holloway
They were going with Mike Tolbert last year up in Buffalo as this backup. Well, that's Ivory would be.
Jason Moore
It's a very serviceable.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I'll be sad when Talbert retires. He's only 21, though. Kevin Colbert or Colbert Colbert? Man, I don't know the Steelers GM's last name. How do you. What are you gonna go with you're on your own? No interest in trading Martevis Bryant. Brooks is gonna need to put pronunciation guides for when you're in a certain category, like a GM or a special teams coach. I need the pronunciation guy. Martavis Bryant. They say they're not going to trade him. I still say we'll see, we'll see. If someone comes, comes a knock in, I think they'd be willing to move him.
Andy Holloway
Possibly.
Mike Wright
Kelvin Benjamin underwent knee surgery after the season, expected to be ready for OTAs. And that is all I have for news, guys. You got anything else?
Andy Holloway
Not yet.
Mike Wright
You got them pipes ready, Mike?
Andy Holloway
Oh, I do.
Jason Moore
Mailbag. Mailbag.
Mike Wright
Wow.
Jason Moore
Told you.
Mike Wright
All right, well, if you have a question, there are a lot of ways you can get them over to us. You can visit the website, click the Submit a question button. Jason Moore
Where Tony Meatball go.
Mike Wright
Oh, Tony Meatball. He was great, man. I miss him. If you're out there, Tony, we hope you're well.
Andy Holloway
I hope he didn't eat himself.
Mike Wright
Yeah, well, I would if I were a meatball.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we have. It's very dangerous.
Mike Wright
We had some serious pasta.
Jason Moore
It's like Pizza the Hut.
Mike Wright
Yesterday, Jason and I went to town. We ate everything we could at that. Oh, you could.
Jason Moore
Speaking of Pizza the Hut, scenes from an Italian restaurant starring us also in.
Mike Wright
Speaking of Pizza the Hut.
Jason Moore
Well, you guys saw the news, right?
Mike Wright
No.
Jason Moore
Papa John's.
Mike Wright
Oh, I did see that. Is out.
Jason Moore
No longer the official pizza of the NFL. But pizza.
Mike Wright
They weren't booted out. It was a mutual decision for them not to be.
Jason Moore
But Pizza Hut is now the official. Oh, Pizza Hut is of the NFL.
Mike Wright
They're a pizza now.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Oh, oh, you guys love Pizza Hut, right? No, I'm not a Pizza Hut fan.
Jason Moore
No, I think a lot of people out Pizza the Hut.
Andy Holloway
I like Pizza Hut.
Mike Wright
You are. You are a fan. I still remember getting the deep dish ones for the reading program as a child. Do you remember that?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, My reading program right now.
Mike Wright
Oh, was it Book it? Book it program? Yeah.
Andy Holloway
He gets these personal pan pizzas for all these books he's reading.
Mike Wright
Those were great. Because personal pan pizza is so small, you just get all that crusty edge. Sounds like a show after the show discussion. All right, first question here in the mailbag comes in from Swagasaurus Rex. What a name. Dynasty show was awesome. I've heard that a lot. People really like that show.
Andy Holloway
Excellent.
Mike Wright
We're glad to hear that this listener is doing a startup dynasty draft, doing four year contracts. Thoughts and pros and cons or. I'm sorry, thoughts about doing contracts and what are the pros and cons?
Andy Holloway
I wouldn't say there's necessarily pros and cons. It's just that it's a completely different game than the dynasty league we have is.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would say that's right. It's completely different.
Andy Holloway
We keep forever. And now I assume as a dynasty, you're saying you're keeping your 30 player roster 25, whatever it is, and you are having four year contracts on it. It just changes things up with. With mostly with trades.
Mike Wright
I was gonna say there. There are a couple things there. One, I think it can be really, really fun if you have a great commissioner. So if you're doing a league with contracts, you need somebody that can keep granular track of everything. It makes it exciting for trades because if you have a guy that's got a year left on a deal on your roster and you're looking to pick up a guy that's got three years left on a deal, whatever that is, however you set it up, it just adds another GM dynamic and that's what you're doing in fantasy. You're pretending to be a real owner.
Andy Holloway
So I guess that would be.
Mike Wright
This is all pretend.
Andy Holloway
You'll file that under a pro. Is that if you like trading that? This will. This will incentivize it a little bit more.
Jason Moore
Yeah, there's a lot of fun to be had there. I would say under the cons list, possibly would just be the fact that, you know, if you're listening to shows like this and just about anywhere, that's not usually the, you know, the methodology that they're going to be talking about. And I know that to me is a con for like auction leagues. I like being able to talk to friends and say what I did and have it easily discernible that because they play, they experience that same thing.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. That goes for any kind of out of the box league. You don't get to share in the kind of group discussion about ADP or things like that. This one comes in off of Twitter from Lou's Sean, who was Jason's English teacher growing up. Any name counts?
Jason Moore
No, no one knows. Actually, I'm gonna go with Kim.
Andy Holloway
Kim. Last name Kim.
Jason Moore
Nope. First name Kim. I don't remember her last name. I was.
Mike Wright
Seems frightened that you know her first name.
Andy Holloway
Strange, Jason.
Mike Wright
It's worse that you know her first name.
Jason Moore
Yeah, correct. But I don't remember the last name. This would have been freshman year, maybe. No, sophomore year.
Andy Holloway
Okay, this is. This is bad territory. What's the earliest teacher you can remember? Like, how far back can you go?
Jason Moore
Oh, Miss Amato. That's first grade.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so you can remember your first.
Mike Wright
Yeah, first grade. Ms. Holmes.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Mrs. Faulkner, I guess.
Mike Wright
Ms. Holmes. Oh, I had Ms. Holmes. Oh, never knew you.
Andy Holloway
Never. She wasn't one of the.
Mike Wright
Well, it was, you know, the mysterious Miz.
Andy Holloway
Ah, gotcha. Gotcha.
Mike Wright
That was the polite way to say it. All right, before we move on, I do want to thank you for. Well, actually, I want to thank. We got a couple sponsors we want to thank today.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
Jason, you want to kick it off?
Jason Moore
Sure. You know, look, when it comes to your health, you know, brushing your teeth, it's one of the most important parts of every single day. You got a brush, obviously. And that is why quip a great sponsor. They have combined dentistry and design to make a new electric toothbrush at pax. Just the right amount of vibrations, it pulses, letting you know when to switch sides. Even comes with a mount that suctions right to your mirror.
Mike Wright
It's like the apple toothbrush.
Jason Moore
Yeah. It's basically like if apple made a toothbrush and, you know, their subscription plan refreshes your brush at, you know, the dentist recommended schedule every three months, just five bucks. It is backed by over 10,000 dental professionals. Wewe have them. This is what my kids use every single day. Starts at just 25 bucks. Go to getquip.comfootballers right now. You'll get your first refill pack free with a quip electric toothbrush. That is getquip G E T Q U I P.com footballers first refill pack free@getquip.com I love my quip.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I quip this morning.
Mike Wright
I brushed my teeth this morning.
Andy Holloway
Why you got to bust them on that one?
Mike Wright
We also want to remind you about Ultimate Draft Kit. The Ultimate Draft gets now available for pre order. So we want to remind you, you get the 100 plus player profile, videos, projections. You get all of the rankings, the top 200 list. We got things that help you for auction. We had somebody write in yesterday asking, hey, is this going to help me in a dynasty league? And I just let him know what was inside the Ultimate Draft kit and how this is going to inform you. This is going to educate you on individual players so you know who to target in trades and acquisitions for dynasty leagues. And so we're always trying to improve this, trying to make it better. Every year it's got Matt Harmon's reception.
Andy Holloway
I was gonna say someone, someone tweeted at us and Harmon and said, where's your. Where's your rookie and your reception perception?
Mike Wright
Oh, they're coming.
Andy Holloway
Will it be with the footballers again? And I said, yep.
Mike Wright
Oh, it's gonna be even better too. We've got upgraded graphs and charts and things that really make it easy to digest that information. And look, our job is just to equip you to make the best decisions in your 2018 draft and you can do that at Ultimate Draft Kit. All right, this question comes in. It's not about your English teacher, Jason. This one is from Kelly Clark. She says, I'm presuming it could be a he, sure. But will Jimmy Hanselm Garoppolo be able to continue his dominance into the 2018 season? This is going to be one of the biggest questions all off season. Do you believe in Jimmy G? Because the money, the check they wrote, they believe in Jimmy G. They certainly do.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I think he will continue doing what he did, but what he did was overstated. You know, people think that what he, you know, his fantasy performance, he was not a top five or even a top ten quarterback that, you know, he was great compared to what they had. He won games and it got a lot of buzz. But as far as fantasy production, I think most of the time those six Games he was in, he was much more around a, you know, quarterback, 15 to 18 range. So I think he'll continue that. I'm not, I'm not drafting Handsome Jimmy with an expectation of, you know, him breaking into the top six, even top eight quarterbacks. That's my take.
Andy Holloway
I'm actually completely with Jason.
Mike Wright
Yeah. I think it comes down to the hype may grow on him if they, if they equip him.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Mike Wright
He need. He played great.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
With very limited weaponry. And so if you equip that tool belt with another top flight wide receiver, the returning Pierre Garcon, the return, you know, you get, you have Kittle and you have some other pieces there, but you need a top flight addition to the wide receiving core in my opinion, for me to get on board and say. Because you don't genuinely see a top six, top eight fantasy quarterback that doesn't have, you know, a big time weapon. And I don't think Marquis great win is going to be enough to get him over that hump.
Andy Holloway
It's, it's Kyle Shanahan's system. We've seen it be extremely friendly for fantasy quarterbacks. What was weird about Jimmy is the yardage was there. I mean you're talking. He averaged over 300 yards a game.
Jason Moore
That's massive.
Andy Holloway
Especially what for the situation he was in. However, his pace for his starts was 19 touchdowns. You get that number has to go up. It. It probably will. But I'm with Jason that I think that the hype train for Jimmy Garoppolo is going to just continue to grow to.
Jason Moore
Where do you think he gets drafted.
Andy Holloway
Come draft season as a top 10 quarterback?
Jason Moore
Yeah. That's the question is where among quarterbacks do you see him getting?
Mike Wright
Well, we just talked a lot about James Winston on the last show. Do you think people are going to go and take the shot on Jimmy G over Winston?
Andy Holloway
I do.
Mike Wright
Okay, so that, I mean, is that the line that you see? Philip Rivers or Jimmy G. Rivers?
Andy Holloway
Okay, for sure.
Mike Wright
Well, that's who you believe in. But who do you think is going to be drafted?
Andy Holloway
I bet that's pretty close, league dependent. But you'll see Jimmy Garoppolo draft in front of Rivers.
Jason Moore
It really is one of those things where I believe in Jimmy G's talent. So if people didn't get on board and he was dropping to, you know, that quarterback 15 through 18, where you're drafting them like Jameis Winston will, that's where I'm going to be taking one of those guys.
Mike Wright
Would you rather have Jared Goff or Jimmy Garoppolo?
Jason Moore
Oh, great question.
Andy Holloway
That's an excellent question. And I Lean Jared Goff.
Jason Moore
Eileen Garoppolo there.
Andy Holloway
Eileen Goff. Second year growing with Sean McVeigh. I'm going with that one.
Jason Moore
We'll call it second year growing with Kyle Shanahan.
Andy Holloway
Like one and one and a half. One and a half. And on what were the Rams like, the number one offense?
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Nowhere to go but down. That's what I heard.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
That's kind of your offseason strategy, though, with Matt Ryan. It worked out all right. This one's off of Instagram. Would you. What would your highest and lowest ranking be for Saquon Barkley, depending on which team he's drafted to?
Andy Holloway
This is from Maceli914.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So, you know, I'll hop in. I think the worst place for him to go, which is a very realistic place for him to go, would be the Cleveland Browns. I realized that there, you know, was some talk last year of their offensive line being improved, but they're, you know, if you're a bad team, I. That's not a great place for a running back to be if you're down in the fourth quarter. Now, granted he's got pass catching ability, so that's helpful. But that, you know, I would just say that's the lowest for me. And if he were a Brown, he'd probably still be about RB12 to me. So, you know, if he, if he goes to the Colts and Andrew Luck is back healthy, something like that, I would see more touchdown opportunity, higher upside with just the, you know, better offense, winning ball game. So there I, you know, I might see him about RB7 or 8. It's not a wide range for me personally. Where do you guys stand?
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's not a wide range for me either. I think that his pass catching ability just hit his floor is going to be so high because the team that invests the draft pick necessary to get Saquon Barkley must use Saquon Barkley the same way we've seen high profile draft picks be used. To me, this is, this is Christian McCaffrey's pass catching skill set mixed with between the tackles ability that far exceeds Christian McCaffrey. So if he goes to Cleveland or New York or wherever he goes, I just think the floor is super high. It's top ten high to me.
Andy Holloway
Yep, I completely agree. I have nothing to add.
Mike Wright
Here's another question though, in the same vein off of Instagram. Apart from Barkley, what other rookies are you the most excited to watch next year? And this gives me the first opportunity to drop the name Ronald Jones. The second you're all about it, USC running back. I. There's. There's the eye test. Right. And he passes it for me. I'm very curious to see what his combine numbers look like. I know there are holes in his game, but what I like about Ronald Jones is the fact that I think he has game breaking ability, big playability, and so I really like him. He's my. He's who I'm most excited to watch. Outside of Barkley, for sure.
Jason Moore
For me, it's Rashad Penny. I've just seen some stuff that makes me go, yes. And so I want to see more of that.
Andy Holloway
So you've had some things that make you go, yes. All right.
Mike Wright
It was more of a horse sound that came out there.
Andy Holloway
I was trying to help him out with a.
Mike Wright
He's a wild mustang with a much better soup.
Andy Holloway
The guy that I'm very interested to watch, Saquon Barkley, of course. I love Sony Michelle from Georgia.
Mike Wright
And you like Chubb, too, don't you?
Jason Moore
Of course.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. They're both great. But the guy I've talked about the most in this office and Jason can attest this is Royce Freeman from Oregon. He absolutely blows up my production model. He's a little lower than I want in the actual market share of the model. That's. So I'm. He is my most.
Mike Wright
You're excited to see the guy I.
Andy Holloway
Want to see the most in what he puts up in these athletic measurables at the combine.
Mike Wright
All right, this one comes off of Instagram as well. Where does camara go in 10? I think he meant tin team. PPR redraft leaks.
Andy Holloway
You got to read these people's names. This is Rhymes Walker.
Mike Wright
Yes. Instagram off of Rhymes Walker. I. You know, I'm still gun shy after my, you know. Colbert. Colbert.
Andy Holloway
These are Instagram names. It doesn't matter, okay?
Jason Moore
You're going to get them wrong every time.
Mike Wright
All right, Dr. Rhymes, Walker wants to know, where does camara go in a.
Andy Holloway
10 league ppr redraft.
Mike Wright
10 team. 10 team.
Andy Holloway
What did I. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Jason Moore
I'm Run Burgundy.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So he will go in the top five.
Mike Wright
Look, if you've read. If you've read through my article at this point, you understand the reasons why I believe so much in Alvin Camara.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So nobody understands the reasons why yet. Andy's case for Camara is coming out to theater near you.
Andy Holloway
Andy's case for Camara is somewhere focus grouping it along with Cameron artist Payne's birth certificate. They are in the same exact location.
Mike Wright
In the same room. Yes, absolutely. As soon as we get one figured out, the others will. The other will follow.
Jason Moore
I could see Camara being the widest range first round draft pick if he goes number one to someone because they just think he was unbelievable and they read Andy's article. I'm not going to be shocked if he drops to, you know, eight or so. Because people, I would be shocked. I would not be in a pr.
Mike Wright
In a full ppr.
Jason Moore
Full ppr. I guess that that is a little bit harder. Maybe seven, six.
Andy Holloway
But I'll be shocked.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
Yeah, Yeah.
Mike Wright
I think he's going to wide range. He's going to go high. All right. On Instagram, this one comes in from R. Jordison. Yeah. Not so happy anymore, are you? What makes a good fantasy football team name? That's what he wants to know.
Andy Holloway
That's an excellent question.
Mike Wright
What makes a good name?
Jason Moore
Brooks and I are in the middle right now of rebranding our league of record team.
Mike Wright
That's taking a lot longer than my article, I'll tell you that.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we'll see which one happens first. But these are what matters to us. We've had these discussions. I want it to be a team name that can last. You want to put it on a trophy and have it be there for the foreseeable future now. So, you know, I don't want to change my team name every year and I want it to be something that matters to, in our case, to both of us. What things do we have in common? Pop culture reference. And then I want it to sound like a team name.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Like, what if you went with the seven and Sixers?
Jason Moore
Oh. Oh, mercy.
Andy Holloway
That's not bad.
Jason Moore
Them's fighting words.
Andy Holloway
That's not bad.
Mike Wright
I say that and I made the playoffs. He didn't make the playoffs. We were both seven and six. That'd be good for you.
Andy Holloway
I'm with Jason. I like longevity to my name. And if you're going to go with a player pun name, there's nothing wrong with that. Love me dad jokes. Love me some pun names. Yeah, but you gotta have come up with it. You can't. Don't just Google search player pun names. Right, because then you're. Everyone's gonna have. Everyone has someone over. Dwayne Bow. We got it. We understand.
Jason Moore
Little Red Fournette. Yeah, we done.
Andy Holloway
We got it.
Jason Moore
I've already drove it.
Andy Holloway
It's washed. You got to make it happen by yourself.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And if you want to protect yourself against feeling like you need to own that player, pick somebody remote, somebody that's not, you know, high profile. Oh, there's a lot of people kind of, oh, my name is this and I have to own that player then.
Jason Moore
Right.
Mike Wright
That's kind of the trap. All right. Caddy 14 says, I'm the commissioner and this will be my second year. It's a keeper league and we did it online. Does this year have to be a live draft or can it be online? So I think he's wanting to know, technology wise, because there are keepers, are you able to do an online draft? And the quick answer is yes, very easily. If you aren't doing massive pick trading, because a system like espn, you have a keeper league, you can put those keepers on those teams and then run an online draft. If you have massive pick trading, that's going to make it more complicated. That's when we. We choose to do all of ours offline, just for the flexibility and for the fun. Yeah. I mean, could you still do in person online?
Jason Moore
Right.
Andy Holloway
And you can do online offline, as in it's not live. It's not live through the ESPN system.
Jason Moore
Right.
Andy Holloway
But you're all just in a Google hangout or whatever and talking through things. So you don't have the rigidy. Rigidity.
Mike Wright
Yeah, there. You're there.
Andy Holloway
Gotcha. Of being confined through the system. So both are perfect.
Mike Wright
Yeah, the old offline online.
Andy Holloway
Yo, Mike Scott, off and on.
Mike Wright
Biffle89.
Jason Moore
Oh, I'm so happy you made him read these Instagram names.
Mike Wright
Dynasty trade. Biffle B. Bevel Dynasty trade offer. I was offered 101 and OJ Howard for Alvin Camara in 303.
Andy Holloway
This is very. So you were offered saquon Barkley and O.J. howard. So saquon Barkley and O. J. Howard for Camara and the 303.
Mike Wright
That's really interesting.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it's very interesting.
Mike Wright
You try not to overreact because the, you know, you got knowing where Barkley's team is and things like that. You. I tend to say, look, Camara, you saw what you got with Camara, man, that's tough. I would actually want to know if this was. Well, no, I. With Barkley, it doesn't matter. I was gonna say a full PPR league, man. I probably stick with Camara.
Andy Holloway
I. I think. I take it. And funny enough, O.J. howard helps me swing this over to the. To the Barkley side because I believe in O.J. howard long term. We know that Tight ends. But aside from Evan Ingram having a monster fantasy season, it takes tight ends a multiple years. And we saw it from O.J. howard. We saw the flashes. So you're getting a. So Jason tight end Barkley.
Jason Moore
The way that I see it is the 101 Saquon Barkley versus Alvin Camara. Let's just talk that straight up. I'm taking Camara. If this is, you know, if I'm drafting and Saquon's available, I would take Camara ahead of Saquon.
Andy Holloway
Just because, you know.
Jason Moore
Because I know. Yes, exactly. I've seen it in the NFL. I know. And both are good. I know I'm not going to be disappointed with Camara, barring injury or something like that. But O.J. howard, this is a team need to me, if you're solid at tight end, I'd rather have the known commodity and Alvin Camara keep the draft pick. But if O.J. howard will actually help your, you know, if you've got Greg Olson and nothing behind him, no youth whatsoever, you don't have an Injoku or an Ebron or, you know, Kittle, then yeah, I would. I would grab O.J. howard in the Dynasty League and let that swing it. So I guess I agree with you, Mike.
Andy Holloway
It's tough because the ceiling for the potential ceiling, the unknown ceiling of Saquon Barkley is much higher than Alvin Camara.
Mike Wright
I think you're right. I think you're right about that.
Jason Moore
Is both being the number one running back.
Mike Wright
Hmm.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
Interesting. All right, Mike Dorsett, off of Instagram. Are we banking on Watson and Hopkins making magic again next year? Great show, guys.
Jason Moore
Hopkins, yes. Watson. I am not. I know. I tried to throw cold water on the flames and couldn't I as well keep it going?
Andy Holloway
Those.
Jason Moore
Those.
Andy Holloway
That's the Olympic torch, my friend. That thing cannot go out.
Jason Moore
I was like, I just couldn't get him out.
Mike Wright
He was, what, five points a game better than any other fantasy quarterback during that stretch.
Jason Moore
Yes. But if you listen to last episode and the numbers that I gave on the unsustainability of Carson Wentz at 7 1/2% of his throws going for touchdowns, he was not number one last year. I think it was up in the nines. Was Watson. Was Watson. Yeah. You double check that. And that is just completely unsustainable. I don't care who you are, it's not sustainable for Aaron Rodgers. So I'm not going to bank on a mobile quarterback coming back off of an ACL tear with unsustainable numbers. I'm not saying he's going to be bad, but I'm not banking on him staying magma.
Mike Wright
All right, jsolgate junior. Thanks again. What?
Jason Moore
Sounds like he uses a quit.
Mike Wright
What day of the combine covers the snack counts? And what are your expectations for your snack count this year? Jason?
Jason Moore
Snack counts are 100% and Saturday is.
Mike Wright
Usually the best day for snack counts.
Jason Moore
Well, yes, for snack counts and combine.
Mike Wright
See, I find it easiest to eat throughout all football games. Yeah, my Sunday snack counts are the highest.
Jason Moore
See, I like before the games and after them, during the games. Those are my three favorite times when games are going on, when, if they aren't, then just all the time. All the time.
Mike Wright
Mike, what's your snack count like this year?
Andy Holloway
I'm not really a snacker.
Mike Wright
Why?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, because I'm a mealer. I like.
Jason Moore
You can be both. I am living proof you can be both of those things.
Andy Holloway
And we all aspire to the greatness of that is Jason Moore's snack count. I understand.
Jason Moore
There's my 40.
Mike Wright
All right.
Andy Holloway
You're faster than me. This is unbelievable.
Jason Moore
I'm deceptively athletic.
Mike Wright
Eric Winkle. Oh, do you guys have any players firmly on your. I will never draft that guy again.
Jason Moore
Listen, I don't think I've got anybody on the firmly, never draft again. Like, I drafted, I believed in him and then I'm off.
Mike Wright
That would have been like Doug Martin for Mike. Yeah, but even was he firmly on that list last year, we normally let value dictate.
Andy Holloway
And that's what I was going to say last year. Draft price dictated to me. Doug Martin will be on zero of my teams. Now let's say Martin goes, he gets a plush backup job and people have completely written him off and Doug Martin's in the double digit rounds.
Mike Wright
I don't know, is there anybody that you just will. People will be talking about the value of them, but you just don't believe in their talent whatsoever. So they're going to be on your do not draft list. Like maybe you don't believe that.
Jason Moore
That. That's usually what happens to me is it's not guys that I drafted and they spurned me. It's guys I just never really believed they were good. So I don't like their value.
Mike Wright
Is there somebody that comes to mind right now or not really. Like Tori Smith? Like, is he on your no matter what, never draft him list? Because he is.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's just a guy that. It's not that no matter what, don't draft it. It's just I never Will, do you have one?
Mike Wright
Brooks, do you have anybody that comes to mind? No, you're just open minded. You're willing to take anybody onto that raggedy old team of yours? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Andy Holloway
I mean the one name I'm looking at in the top 25 of wide receivers who I can likely guarantee won't be on my teams because of value is Devon S. Scrumptious.
Mike Wright
I don't think I'm going to have Martavis or anything.
Andy Holloway
Martavis is going to fall. Martavis will be in the close to double digit rounds.
Mike Wright
But I don't think I want to take you just.
Jason Moore
He'll be.
Mike Wright
He'll probably be off my list completely because anybody that's a wide receiver, three by my account, with a name that popular, I don't think there's any chance he ends up on any of my teams.
Jason Moore
So, yeah, I guess the real answer.
Mike Wright
Is obviously Kirk Cousins.
Jason Moore
I guess the real answer to this is stay water as we say, and don't write anybody off your list.
Mike Wright
Yeah, you're kind of for this question forced us to find somebody, but we don't generally think that way.
Jason Moore
Right.
Mike Wright
All right, let's. Do you have a likely quarterback?
Andy Holloway
Who's this question from?
Mike Wright
This question's from Tyler Masters. 22.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Most likely rookie quarterback to have a breakout first season. That's a really difficult question. I mean you can pick names right now. The big names right now are Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I was going to say Lamar Jackson just because when you talk about a rookie coming in the first year, when you've got a running, you know, a quarterback that can rush. Well, I mean that's.
Mike Wright
I left Sam Darnold off that list, by the way.
Andy Holloway
That's a big miss.
Jason Moore
Watson, you know, comes in and you know, it was his legs that really opened up the game for him. RG3 comes in rookie year and he's just electric because of his mobility, you know.
Mike Wright
But I don't know, I think those five guys all fall in the talent and opportunity category where I wouldn't pick one of them right now without knowing their team over another one unless I knew that they were handed that, you know, the keys to. Right.
Jason Moore
Like Lamar Jackson could go in the second round and be a backup.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Or some team could come and say, you know what? I believe I want to make him the Mike Vick type player of my team and I'm going to draft him at 14 after trading up and then.
Mike Wright
Yeah, like Buffalo, like if Buffalo signed Lamar Jackson, you know, draft him in the first or second round and he has a clear path to be the starter there. All of a sudden he looks like the best, maybe the best fantasy option.
Andy Holloway
The team to watch will be the Denver Broncos.
Mike Wright
Yeah, fair.
Andy Holloway
If Baker Mayfield ends up in Denver somehow I will be. My eyes will be open.
Mike Wright
Now this is fantasy football calculator. I don't know how many rookie drafts have taken place, but if you're curious about where these guys are going right now in rookie drafts, Josh Rosen's going, he's the highest drafted of them. And then Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen going latest. And Josh Allen has the widest range of opinions about him because he's this big Mike Glenn and Brock Osweiler sized man.
Andy Holloway
It works every time.
Mike Wright
50 something percent inaccurate.
Andy Holloway
But really tall.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
What could go wrong?
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Oh, yeah. No thank you. I'll take Baker Mayfield. All right, that is it for today's episode of the Fantasy Footballers podcast. The episode kicks off with the hosts promoting FootClanLeagues.com, a platform they created to help listeners find and organize fantasy football leagues. Andy Holloway enthusiastically invites listeners to explore various league options, including dynasty and redraft leagues, emphasizing the community aspect of FootClanLeagues.com (00:00).
Following the promotional segment, the hosts warmly welcome the audience back as football enters the offseason. They share a light-hearted moment about dominating in a morning pickleball game, establishing a friendly and competitive rapport (02:26).
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to analyzing the NFL Combine, with particular focus on how combine performances can influence fantasy football strategies.
Jason Moore's Perspective: Jason highlights the importance of position-specific metrics, particularly enjoying the 40-yard dash for assessing speed in wide receivers and running backs. He emphasizes the value of receiving drills for running backs, as they offer a rare opportunity for direct comparison of pass-catching abilities. "You can really watch and see the fluidity. How natural are these guys at running these routes, catching the balls?" (03:24).
Andy Holloway's Model: Andy introduces his analytical approach centered on "production and market share." He examines college performance to predict NFL success, suggesting that players who excel in college are more likely to perform well in the NFL. "Players who are bad in college, they're bad in the NFL. They don't just, generally speaking, don't just match." (04:54).
Discussing Arian Foster: The hosts reflect on Arian Foster's combine performance, noting his impressive but perhaps not fully representative metrics. Mike reminisces about Foster's impact, saying, "He was a great Fantasy player monster, great pass catcher" (06:22).
Dalvin Cook and John Ross: Mike references Dalvin Cook's surprising negative combine performance, which impacted his draft stock. They also touch on John Ross's exceptional speed, underscoring how combine performances can dramatically influence player valuations (07:26).
The hosts delve into recent NFL news and its implications for fantasy football:
Jonathan Stewart Released: Mike discusses Stewart's release from the Carolina Panthers, debating its impact on Christian McCaffrey's role. The conversation explores whether Stewart's departure benefits McCaffrey by increasing his market share or introduces uncertainty with a potential new back complementing him (08:35).
Cameron Artis-Payne's Age Confusion: A humorous segment arises when the hosts discover conflicting information about Cameron Artis-Payne's age, highlighting discrepancies between sources like NFL.com and Pro Football Reference (10:24).
Michael Crabtree and Teddy Bridgewater: Mike updates on Crabtree possibly rejoining the NFL and Teddy Bridgewater entering free agency, discussing their potential impacts on respective teams and fantasy prospects (13:37).
Chris Ivory’s Potential Moves: The discussion turns to Chris Ivory's visit to the Bills and Browns, contemplating his role and effectiveness as a complement to existing running backs like Lashawn McCoy (15:01).
