To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Mike Wright
You're gonna start the show.
Andy Holloway
No, I. I was. It's a delay. I was pausing a little longer and you couldn't handle it, Mike.
Mike Wright
No, it got really awkward.
Andy Holloway
An extra two seconds. You got that exact moment when you think, I'm gonna come in.
Mike Wright
I'm hyped.
Andy Holloway
Hold on. Welcome to the show. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. See, the delay was worth it. We got a celebratory cheer from Jason Moore.
Jason Moore
Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder. I was very fond.
Andy Holloway
That's absence.
Jason Moore
Really? Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's absence. Yep. Mike, how you doing?
Mike Wright
I'm doing well.
Andy Holloway
It's Tuesday, June 23rd. We are the Fantasy Footballers and this is the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. Welcome to the show. We've got a good one for you today. We are. We're almost to July.
Jason Moore
Oh.
Mike Wright
You know what that means there will.
Andy Holloway
Actually be football on the. In this season, right?
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Okay, good.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I'm having a hard time waiting.
Mike Wright
I feel like I read 12 Sundays somewhere.
Andy Holloway
12 Sundays?
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's it. That's what I had read.
Andy Holloway
That's not bad.
Jason Moore
No, I feel like.
Andy Holloway
Because you're going to. Until the regular season or the preseason.
Mike Wright
Probably regular season.
Andy Holloway
So really that just means eight Sundays until we're. Or seven, if you count the hall of Fame game.
Mike Wright
We could do the math.
Andy Holloway
Seven Sundays until. Yeah, I guess it's very easy.
Mike Wright
That means drafts are coming.
Andy Holloway
It's exciting. Quick question for the day. Fantasy teams are going to miss the playoffs this year because of.
Mike Wright
Okay, who do you have.
Jason Moore
You're saying a player or are you saying, like a stupid strategy?
Mike Wright
No, I think you.
Andy Holloway
You could. You can go any direction you want. It's the quick question of the day. You can do whatever you want to do with it. I left it bl. My answer to this question was a player.
Jason Moore
Then I'll go player.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
I'm gonna go Tom Brady.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I like that one.
Jason Moore
Yeah. It's a little late in the draft and normally those don't completely throw off, you know, your draft, but you gotta take two picks. So now I just feel like you're throwing away. And to be quite frank, I think he's a middle of the pack quarterback that you're reaching for in the seventh and then having to draft another guy. I just don't think it's going to help anybody's team.
Andy Holloway
I had a guy on Twitter send me a question yesterday that said, when do you draft Tom Brady and when do you draft his. Another quarterback after him? And I said, well, I don't draft Tom Brady. He's off my board.
Mike Wright
I completely agree.
Andy Holloway
Because he's waste. It's a waste.
Jason Moore
Yeah. We talk so much about the value of your picks and about making sure that in those middle rounds you grab somebody valuable versus, you know, filling, you know, that, that tight end spot you might need. But then people throw that out the window and throw a pick out the window by drafting Tom Brady because he's so dreamy and so handsome and he's a Hall of Famer. But that doesn't help your fantasy team this year.
Andy Holloway
No, that's a good one. That's a good one. Fantasy teams are going to miss the playoffs this year because of Jimmy Graham. I thought about him actually, when I was thinking about names. He's not mine.
Mike Wright
But just because of where you have to take him and where people are going to want to take him at the end of the second, beginning of the third. I just.
Andy Holloway
Now we're not saying Jimmy Graham's going to be bad.
Mike Wright
No, not at all.
Andy Holloway
But we're saying you're over. You might have to overpay.
Mike Wright
You're going to overpay. I don't think he's going to cost you. He won't return the value of that draft position. I just don't think the volume is there. The touchdowns will be there. But then you're just like almost the rest of the pack of tight ends who are going to get a handful of touchdowns.
Andy Holloway
That's a good one. I have Carlos Hyde. I think fantasy teams are going to miss the playoffs here because of Carlos Hyde. Has a lot to do with what you just said about Jimmy Graham. The value, where's he going of where he is. Yeah, you've got the ADP up of where you have to take him with the production. I actually think he'll give you beginning.
Jason Moore
Of the fourth round.
Andy Holloway
That's not too bad. That's not too bad. But still, I think that if you're expecting RB1 numbers from Hyde, you might be disappointed. Reggie Bush is there, Kendall Hunter is back. The offense is changing, the defense is changing. He's a strict two down back pretty much. And he only ran for under four a carry last year. So I have some concerns with him. And so I see the hype train. Certain, certain circles have Carlos Hyde being dominant and I am not in that circle.
Mike Wright
Who do you think is going to get drafted first one once draft season goes? Because I'm sure the ADP doesn't Reflect this right now, but Joseph Randle or Carlos Hyde, it's crazy.
Andy Holloway
That's the name. That's the name I was thinking of. Is. Is Randall. Right now, he's in the fifth somewhere. And I even heard on a show today, someone go, oh, that's too early for Joseph Randall. I said, what are you thinking?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I don't know.
Andy Holloway
You see Ryan Williams. Ryan Williams might be outsy.
Mike Wright
Yep, I did see that.
Andy Holloway
Still got Darren McFadden to worry about there. And obviously we don't think Randall's getting DeMarco carries, but, yeah, I would. You were saying who will be drafted first by the time drafts come around? I think it's Hyde. I think Hyde will be drafted first because Randall's gonna come up in the ADP list. But he's not gonna. I don't think he's gonna pass a guy like that who everyone thinks is.
Jason Moore
Gonna be a bell cow.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And, you know, I'm not saying I can't be wrong about Hyde, but that's the name I picked out. It's possible. So today we got a good show. We've got the AFC north in our divisional breakdown. We've. We covered.
Mike Wright
We covered the west, the AFC and.
Andy Holloway
NFC west on last week's show. So if you didn't listen to those, you can do so on itunes. You can also go to the website, the fantasy footballers.com and listen to them there. If you are listening to us on itunes, we always appreciate a review. If you like the show, if you like what we're doing each and every week, you can go on there, subscribe, give us a review, and we, we like to read a review on every show. So let's go and do that.
Jason Moore
Review a source, Rex. All right, this one in from Bentonville Rock. He says, best fantasy football podcast out there. When everyone else is taking a break from doing podcasts, you guys are still throwing it out at least two times a week. The fantasy information and advice you provide is second to none. Keep up the good work and double stuff. Oreos have nothing on s'mores. Oreos, sir, you are wrong.
Mike Wright
I had a. I had an idea.
Andy Holloway
Thanks for the review, though.
Jason Moore
Yeah, thanks for the 5 star review. I review your review with incorrect Oreo knowledge.
Andy Holloway
What do you rate his review?
Jason Moore
I rank his review a four and a half star.
Andy Holloway
Okay. Because all reviews are at least a four star.
Jason Moore
Well, he had great content.
Mike Wright
Other than that, in an upcoming show, I want to run this experiment. I'm gonna get the three plain Oreos. I'm get the Regular, the double and the mega. And we are going to have a blind.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Oregon Blind taste test.
Andy Holloway
It's gonna be obvious.
Mike Wright
And we are. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
But that's all I have to be blind. Just be okay.
Jason Moore
Take a long. I'm just gonna constantly be like, I need another. I'm not sure.
Mike Wright
So we can settle this on air because the people want to know.
Jason Moore
I think that one will. Will ring the unanimous bell just from predicting it.
Andy Holloway
If each of us. I'm the normal Oreo, you're the mega.
Mike Wright
No, I'm the double.
Andy Holloway
No, he's the double.
Jason Moore
Well, I'm.
Mike Wright
He is dumb stuff, but I announced that the mega stuff was too much for me. And Jason wanted.
Andy Holloway
Said, hey, I want to test Confusing world. The problem, I mean, s'mores Oreos. The problem with these variants is that they're really good for like a week or two. When you eat them and you just.
Jason Moore
Get tired of them, there's a reason. There's a classic.
Andy Holloway
Mm.
Jason Moore
Although people would say, well, the double stuff's not classic, but I'd say, you're an idiot. So I. You know, I'm sorry, listeners, there's a lot of people that like regular Oreos. I love regular Oreos.
Andy Holloway
You want to share your opinions with Jason directly on all things Oreo or food related, you can do so AstonFFL. You can also follow the showballers if you want to talk football and stuff like that. You can follow me at Andy Holloway. Mike Ffhipman. You can find us on Facebook. Facebook.com TheFantasyFootballers and if you have a question for us, we are getting inundated with questions. And I almost said that word correctly.
Mike Wright
Almost.
Andy Holloway
I tried really hard. We have a lot of questions. I feel bad that we can't fit them all onto every show.
Jason Moore
We're gonna have to start throwing out more Saturday mailbag shows. I'm just throwing that out there because pressures on people liked it. We had that special Saturday show.
Mike Wright
I think you just volunteered for a solo.
Andy Holloway
Isn't that your. Isn't that your massage day, Mike?
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't skip massage day.
Jason Moore
I'm sorry, man.
Andy Holloway
You got the man bun going on today.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's full up, fully proper.
Andy Holloway
Not bad.
Mike Wright
We're also gonna get our.
Jason Moore
We're gonna get our YouTube videos coming back soon, right, guys?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I'm throwing all sorts of things talked about is getting brought up. This is good public.
Jason Moore
It's happening.
Mike Wright
Let's talk about football.
Andy Holloway
Let's do it. Let's get some news and notes from around the league.
Jason Moore
Dang it.
Andy Holloway
I just said the segment. Name.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league.
Mike Wright
Mid season form.
Andy Holloway
That sucked. All right, speaking of sucking, Sean Green has been cut by the Titans. Everyone's fantasy darling. Oh, no, wait. Everyone's stuck in the mud. Running back Sean Green is no longer a Tennessee Titan, which means he can no longer bring very, very, very minimal fantasy value to your team. What does this mean for David Cobb, Bishop Sankey?
Jason Moore
It means more. More touchdown opportunities for someone, more carries to go around, more value to those other guys. And the more that I have thought about this since the Sean Green cutting, the more that I'm actually confident that I will not in any draft take either of these running backs. I really started thinking about it with Ken Wisenhunt with how he has used early running backs in their careers before. I just, I think that both of those guys are going to really frustrate teams and, and have a good game here, a bad game there and not be worth having on a roster.
Mike Wright
What about Antonio Andrews?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I saw that.
Andy Holloway
Just another name to make you very do what Jason's doing with the offense. Yeah. Antonio Andrews is a second year guy, right?
Mike Wright
Yeah. He was a practice squad guy. Is that correct?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. But he's fighting for that big back role, the Sean Green role or is.
Jason Moore
He down to like 10% muscle?
Mike Wright
To me, it's a situation that we do need to monitor because I think that David Cobb or I'm not going to buy into this Andrews nonsense.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Sankey's going to have a role of some sort.
Mike Wright
He will. But I might fly on David Cobb late.
Andy Holloway
I was going to say that if there was anything I do, I'd fly on David Cobb late because he was a high enough draft pick to, you know, take a shot. That's a shot you want. Eagles expected to keep Jordan Matthews in the slot. We talked a lot about Jordan Matthews this offseason. We talked a lot about the possibility of him moving outside and being used a little bit more in the Jeremy Macklin role. And it looks like that's not going to happen. Either of you guys throwing a little shade on him?
Mike Wright
Not at all.
Jason Moore
Yeah, really? Not at all.
Andy Holloway
When we the only one of this group that is not all about Jordan Matthews.
Jason Moore
No. When we talked about him a long time ago, I mean, early off season when it was, you know, when we were months away from the draft, he was my number one breakout guy. And at that point in time I fully expected him to stay in the slot. They loved him in the slot. They see him as a mismatch in the slot. So the numbers that I ranked him on were him being in the slot. His catch percentage, his yards after catch are just incredible. He is a beast. And he got better and better as the season went along. So I see a trend where he's going to come in this year and you look at his work ethic in the off season, I think he's going to be a huge star.
Mike Wright
I think he's going to move in and out. I think that he's not just going to be relegated to the slot and he's the big guy, he's the tall receiver. It's. It's going to be him and Ertz scoring the bulk of the touchdowns through the air. Aguilar's not, he's not 65 like Matthews is. If I'm remember now, I'm remembering now. I'm double guessing myself.
Jason Moore
Matthews is six three.
Mike Wright
Six three. Okay, six three. But he's, he's big and I just don't, I don't see them keeping him, a player like that, just in the slot. They're going to move guys all over the place is if he's in the slot, then who's outside? They're gonna put a rookie and Josh Huff, Miles Austin. You think Miles Austin is gonna play over Huff?
Andy Holloway
No.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Maybe. I don't know.
Jason Moore
I do. I.
Andy Holloway
It's possible the names that are all getting thrown out are the reason why I'm a little bit not willing to jump onto the Matthews bandwagon. It's not a dislike of Matthews the player. It's just the realization that I think, you know, Ryan Matthews, Darren Sprouls, Miles Austin, Josh Huffman, Nelson Aguilar, Jordan Matthews. These are all names that are just game to game. I mean, we saw games last year where Shady didn't have, you know, they'd score 40 points. Shady wouldn't put up any numbers.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but Macklin was a monster almost every single game. He had very few duds and.
Andy Holloway
But he's not stepping into the Macklin role.
Mike Wright
Right. But somebody in Philadelphia is going to be a wide receiver. One. Yeah, I can.
Andy Holloway
Confident I can agree with that. And he and Matthews might be. So the Bears have signed another stick in the mud, Daniel Thomas.
Mike Wright
He'll be cut fumbling Dan.
Andy Holloway
You think so?
Mike Wright
Yeah, he'll be cut eventually.
Andy Holloway
I don't think so. Because they think they want a running backs.
Mike Wright
Are they going to keep.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I guess it's him or Kadeem Carey. Right. So he'll probably get cut. He's probably not worth talking about.
Mike Wright
You got Forte Quiz Langford.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
He just getting cut?
Jason Moore
Yeah. No, Daniel Thomas. Yeah, yeah, he might get cut. But the interesting thing from my perspective is a little bit more shade on Forte. I just think it really shows the coaching staff and what they think they have. They've come in and inherited a team with a great running back, but an old running back. And as a coach coming into a brand new role, you are looking towards the future. You're building your team and bringing in your guys and all of that. And so they drafted a running back despite the fact that they had a rookie and they had Forte and then they go and they signed.
Andy Holloway
You know, it sounds like a camp back situation, though.
Jason Moore
Yes, maybe. And it very well might be a camp back. I just, I think that it, I actually think he makes the team. And so we'll, we'll see on that. But I think it shows that.
Andy Holloway
So, yes, the Giants have announced Victor Cruz is not expected to start the year on the pup. So if we assume he is not starting the year on the PUP list, is Victor Cruz draftable and if so, where?
Jason Moore
I think he's draftable, but you got to get him really late and I think people will start reaching for him. I don't like him. I think we just were talking about Ryan Williams a second ago, who's what, like two years now removed from essentially the same injury and he just has never been able to get back, never been able to be the same. It's a totally different injury than most of the injuries that these guys come back from. So I don't believe he's going to be able to return to top form. And so I don't think I'll have him on my roster. But he's worth a late flyer because if I'm wrong about that, if he is healthy and comes back and especially by the second half of the season and he's Victor Cruz and you can get him, you know, in the ninth or tenth round, you know, what other upside are you really going for in the 9th and 10th round?
Mike Wright
Yeah, just. I don't see it at all. I'm not drafting him. I don't. A guy who Victor Cruz is, his whole game is built on quickness, lateral speed, being shifty, and he had one of the worst possible injuries that you can have to your knee. I just don't see him coming back anywhere close to full strength. I don't see him recovering anywhere close to full strength through this entire year, maybe next year, but I'm Hands off on Cruz.
Andy Holloway
Do you want to hear an interesting stat about the Giants? They averaged more points before Odell Beckham than after.
Mike Wright
Points per game.
Andy Holloway
Points per game.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And I attribute that to Rashad Jennings being healthy in the beginning of the year versus what they got. They didn't get much out of Andre Williams, but it was an interesting stat because everybody thinks, you know, that their offense was through the roof with Odell or that it was.
Mike Wright
Well, it was just odell was getting 10,000 targets a game, and I don't think you can sustain that.
Andy Holloway
One guy that is starting the year on the PUP list is jets running back Steven Ridley. It looks like he will. It's not official, but it looks like Ridley will be starting on the pup. They knew what they were getting into when they signed him because he's coming off an ACL injury. Does he have any late year value if that running game can't get going with Ivory?
Jason Moore
No, no. I mean, if he does, it's going to be obviously waiver wire. There's nobody that's going to be drafting him and stashing him. He's not. His potential upside, I don't think, is.
Mike Wright
That great unless you have an IR spot.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, one. One guy we have to talk about is Josh Hill because a lot of. Obviously Jimmy Graham has left. What, New Orleans? Yeah. He's not there anymore and that leaves a giant hole and everybody wants to assume that a guy can come and step in. And I'm hands off on Hill after seeing a report that Mike Triplett said he doesn't see a major breakthrough coming through. And that's not so much the report that I care about. What I care about is that in OTAs and in camp, Benjamin Watson seems to be getting more of the passes and he's a super capable tight end in terms of that. There's also only sub packages that Josh Hill is being utilized in. So we haven't really talked about Josh Hill very much.
Jason Moore
I don't.
Andy Holloway
He was in any of our, you know, he wasn't in any of our top 10 lists, but he's on a lot of sleeper and breakout lists for players that they're seeing that they're going to be reading about. Any thoughts on Hill? Dude, is he worth a flyer because of the goal line?
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's a good red zone target. I think I could see him being the type of tight end that ends up the year with 10 touchdowns, but like, you know, 600 yards and. And not many catches because I think that they'll bring him in for.
Andy Holloway
Sounds like a nice year to me.
Jason Moore
No. Yeah. And so, yeah, I mean, that would be really nice when you've got him in those, in those games where he gets in the red zone. So I think he's a matchup, streamable option. Personally, I don't think you need to draft him because I think when you do draft him, he's going to be on the waiver wire in short order. You know, I don't think someone's going to draft him as a high upside guy. And then through the first four weeks, be like, man, I got him. I think it's going to be like, nailed it. Yeah, I think.
Andy Holloway
What about Watson? Would you rather have Watson?
Jason Moore
Not. Not on my fantasy team, but I love Benjamin Watson in real life.
Mike Wright
I think Jason hit it with the streaming. If I find a week where whoever the Cardinals are of this year, and maybe it's still the Cardinals and they just can't stop a tight end, I'm going to fire up. I'm going to fire Josh Hill and try and get that touchdown.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's get into the divisional breakdown of the AFC North. Before we do that, I want to remind you about fantasydraftwizard.com you can go to fancy draft wizard.com for free and you can basically mock in a couple of minutes. You just jump in, choose your draft spot, hit a button, go through the draft, test out your strategies, send us how you do.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we get so many of those. Hey, you know, what do you think of this team? Yeah. What do you like about it? What don't you like? And if you tweet us those pictures, we respond to all of them. We'll tell you what we think. Whether you nailed it, whether we've got a, you know, a piece of news that can maybe help you and your future drafts better.
Mike Wright
We do. We do our best to get to them all. And when I reply, I don't like to say, yeah, cool. I. I give you why I like it. I give you why I don't like it. So that if I don't get to you I'm working on it, it means.
Andy Holloway
You didn't see it. Probably.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
All right, AFC North. Let's start with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were the second best offense last year.
Mike Wright
That's crazy.
Andy Holloway
They were cruising in terms of additions. They drafted Sammy Coates, they signed D'Angelo Williams. Not any big losses on the offensive side other than those by suspension. Le'Veon Bell will be out the first three games of the season, barring a change to that suspension. Lance Moore is gone. Thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers, their offense, their fantasy implications?
Mike Wright
Well, I'm devastated of the loss of, of indoor Lance More that's bringing me down.
Andy Holloway
He's old, he's old school.
Mike Wright
But I had looking up at Big Ben because he's, he seems to be a consensus top six guy. Top five, top six around the, around fantasy circles and what I found interesting about Big Ben is he had eight games of one or less touchdowns. He had five games with less than 250 yards and but he had four games of three plus touchdowns, including two games of, of six touchdowns. So there was some high volume scoring in a short amount of time for.
Andy Holloway
Ben that'll hurt you on a fantasy.
Jason Moore
Well, he had those two ridiculous games.
Mike Wright
With the six touchdown games back to back. Yeah, and, and it's difficult for me to want to ride that kind of a quarterback. I mean the Steelers offense has just been sensational since really since Todd Haley came and took over. But when a guy has eight games with one or less touchdowns, I mean that's, that's a kind of a crippling thing where, and the cost for Big Ben, you're kind of locking in a guy that you're going to want to keep in the, in your roster.
Andy Holloway
And historically he hasn't been right. A guy that's finished in that top eight.
Jason Moore
I think he finished in the top five once. He had a great phenomenal year. And other than that, yeah, he's normally outside the top eight. The real question this year for me when I look at the Steelers is Martavis Bryant, Marty McBride, because if he does like Mike, you're super high on him. Very high. I'm pretty high myself. I think that he fits the offense what they're needing and they've always shown over the last, you know, several years that they can really support that second wide receiver and they were kind of missing it a little bit last year. So I think he could really plug into that role. So the question is, if Martavis Bryant is going to do what we want and expect him to do, doesn't that kind of fill those holes that Big Ben has been missing and take away those games or not?
Mike Wright
It could. And since you brought up Martavis, Brian.
Jason Moore
Marty McBean, Marty McBride.
Mike Wright
I'm glad you did. So here's the scoop on Brian. He didn't play games one through six. And so the rest of the season on 48 targets, 26 catches. Only 26 catches. So a guy that we're getting super excited about at 26 minutes but he had 549 yards and eight touchdowns. He's 6, 4 just blazing speed, 21 yards of catch which is going to come down if he plays any kind of consistent like we think he's going to do this year. Here is why I am excited about Martavis Bryant. During the regular season he averaged 44% of the snaps. His high was 59%. That was week 10. Come to the playoffs now. We're talking one, one game. But we're talking about a game with huge implications. This is your season is on the line. You want your best players out there. 83% of snaps. He got nine targets, nine targets in one game where he'd only had 49 targets in 10 games. So in those nine targets, five catches, 61 yards and a touchdown. I think that Bryant easily takes over the wide receiver. Two positions and I think their offense can sustain that. The Bryant with the vertical threat and Antonio Brown still getting his.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. The question for me is just distribution of those targets. We talked about the fact Marcus Wheaton is going to be moving inside of this slot. That's the reports from camp which means Bryant will get the majority of snaps on the outside. That's what we want to see with an up and coming guy. You've seen a lot of wide receivers in fantasy actually ascend in the second year. Not right instead of the third. It's kind of that third year trend is what people talked about. But you've seen that with some second year jumps. I'm excited about Bryant. I don't know if the offense will be statistically much different in terms of total yards per game and total, you know, those type of things. You know, a lot of distribution goes through Le'Veon Bell. Wheaton will be on the field in the slot taking over some of those other roles. So I'm curious where the distribution will be. But being on the field is not going to hurt Wheaton and I think right now where he's going, he's a huge value in the draft.
Mike Wright
Wheaton or Bryant?
Andy Holloway
Wheaton. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Bryant. Yeah, yeah, Bryant. Wheaton is. He's had his time on the outside and now he's coming inside. I don't see a lot of fantasy value with him. But Bryant for sure and Bryant.
Mike Wright
The first three games, if the left Bell suspension holds up, Bryant could be an absolute monster the first three weeks because they're not going to give D'Angelo Williams the. The workload that Le'Veon Bell has. The. There was A who? The reporter, Jeremy Fowler. He's ESPN Steelers reporter. He's anticipating 10 to 12 carries a game for D'Angelo Williams for those first three games.
Andy Holloway
That's what I've been telling everybody who tweets me about. Oh, where do you draft Dwell? How do you draft? You know, they have Josh Harris, they have other options there, and DeAndre Williams is not going to come in and produce like him. I always am curious, though, about that situation. Let me ask you that, because you said, okay, Bryant might be big. I tend to go the other direction when major players out of the offense. Okay, if. If the Cowboys are missing DeMarco Murray last year, does that mean that Dez Bryant is going to be more productive? Because sometimes it means the offense isn't moving how it's used to be moving. You know, Bryant is a red zone guy who scores touchdowns if they're not in the red zone. I just am curious how that.
Mike Wright
Well, the process field is the red zone for Martavis Bryant. It doesn't matter if he's on the one yard line. I mean, 99 yards, that's fine. He's gonna, he's. He can score from there. And when I say he could be bigger, I just mean that the target, the workload will be there. The opportunities are going to be higher because they're going to throw. I would not be surprised if Big Ben's throwing 50 times a game through the first three weeks.
Andy Holloway
Let's move on to the Baltimore Ravens. For me, there are few teams in all of fantasy football that I have more questions about than Baltimore's offense. We've debated Justin for set for a large amount of this offseason because we differ on kind of how we see him. Obviously, lots of changes to the offense. They lost Torrey Smith. They don't have Jacoby Jones, they don't have Owen Daniels. They lose their offensive coordinator. And now you come into a situation where Mark Tressman's coming in, you pick up Rashad Perryman in the first round, you sign or you draft Max Williams at the tight end position and you bring in a basically what three of their first four picks were offensive picks. And so this offense, I don't know what it's going to look like with this many changes. Is Tressman able to whisper his way into a top 10 offense? Because they were about 12th last year under Kubiak, but they ran the ball well. So, Jason, what are your thoughts on Baltimore? Is there anybody that you want to pick out or what are your thoughts in general?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I, I Love Mark Trussman. I love what he does for fantasy. I love what he's going to do for Justin Forsett. I've talked about that. But looking at the roster, even with the entire offensive line coming back intact, I don't see how they're better this year than they were last year. There are. There's a lot of talent at the wide receiver position. There is like in real life, but they're all going to be vying for a few number of targets. And so when it comes to fantasy, I don't see a lot of real fantasy relevance. I think with Tressman, the two guys that I like the most, I'm kind of backing off on Paramount a little bit. You know, you've still got Marlon Brown and Aiken there, so I'm a little bit backing off of him. But the two guys that excite me, obviously, Justin Forset, I think he's going to get 75 catches, which will be huge for him. And he's still going to be, you know, running over five yards of carry. But I'm gonna throw this out there and sayor, Senor Smith, I think is actually perfect for a Tressman fast pass, you know, system. And he's getting no love because he's 72 years old, but that guy keeps on a kicking and where you can get him late. I mean, if I, if I'm plugging him in as a wide receiver three, which you can grab easy. I feel like he's going to be putting up at least for the first half of the season, wide receiver, two numbers. I think it's going to mirror what happened last season. He's a super talented, you know, hall of Fame worthy type of wide receiver, but he's very old and so he's going to come on hot and strong in the new system and I would trade him.
Mike Wright
So I actually think there'll be more opportunity for the wide receivers where the Bears last year were seventh attempts and the Ravens were 17th. So the passing volume I think is going to increase with so more targets, more opportunity. But I am with Jason where last year, if you listen to the show at all, I was a Steve Smith hater and I constantly dogged on him. But I think that there's going to be a giant burden on Steve Smith shoulders this year where if he has a rookie, a where Paramount's gonna have some rawness to work out in the, in the NFL level, where Steve Smith is gonna have to carry that team along with Justin Forsett. But you're talking about. Steve Smith had 133 targets last year. He was incredible.
Andy Holloway
You know who reminds me of 133 targets? Pretty sure that's about the exact same number that Anquan Bolden had with San Francisco.
Mike Wright
And that's. That's what we like to tell do not forget the vets. We all like the new toy. We all like the exciting rookie who we. What could they possibly be? There's veterans who have shown us exactly what they will be for years and that is a consistent fantasy player who you can set as your wide receiver too and be completely happy.
Andy Holloway
Rashad Perryman or Steve Smith?
Jason Moore
Where I'm going to draft him. I'm going to draft Perryman ahead. Well, if I.
Andy Holloway
Who's going to be the better fantasy player? That's the question.
Jason Moore
Oh, okay. That's the question. Who's going to be the better fantasy.
Andy Holloway
Who's the better fantasy player this year? Because for me, I think it's Steve Smith.
Jason Moore
Me too. Which is crazy because I was going to say I would draft Pearman higher. I mean Pearman's upside is clearly higher if he comes in and takes the league by storm. I don't see Steve Smith being capable of just keeping a super high pace for 16 games. So he's kind of camped out to me. But at the end of the year, I do think Steve Smith has the better year and he's going obviously later. I don't know where but I.
Andy Holloway
You mentioned some of the.
Mike Wright
He's going in the eighth round of PPR drafts.
Andy Holloway
You mentioned some of the names that Perryman's going to have to compete with for those early targets. Aiken, Marlon Brown, Justin for set. Buck Allen is a natural pass catcher as well. And so. Yeah, and Max Williams. And so Perryman. I do not think. I think we are appropriately starting to back off of the hype based on what we've seen in camp from him. He has had struggles with drops and it is a limited passing offense. From the evidence of last year. If Tressman changes it, maybe everything changes. Maybe he finds a way to make Perryman a wide receiver too and finish above Smith. But let's move on now to the Cincinnati Bengals, the perennial seemingly playoff bound one and done. Yeah, it's tough, man, when you've got Andy Dalton.
Mike Wright
Cincinnati it is.
Andy Holloway
They were the middle of the pack offense last year. They finished 15th in the league. They took a step back. They're the 21st passing offense and the 6th best rushing offense.
Mike Wright
That's weird.
Andy Holloway
It's weird.
Mike Wright
That's weird that they're so good at rushing because there's not really anybody good on that team.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I agree. I think he's leading into some sort of like ripping his shirt off at Jeremy Hill scream a thon. But I want to talk about Tyler Ifert first.
Mike Wright
Oh, come on.
Andy Holloway
Yep, yep. I'm gonna, I'm gonna put the pause button on Jeremy Hill. We've talked about Jeremy Hill and we will talk about him right now. But Tyler Ifert is stepping into a role as the full time tight end. Jermaine Gresham is gone and camp reports is that Ifert is catching everything thrown his way. People have forgot, maybe they've slept on him, but he's the type of tight end sleeper that I like because he's going to have more volume and more snaps than some of these other guys. We can talk about Josh Hill, right? Maybe he's great, but the evidence, the role for him as an every down tight end isn't there.
Jason Moore
It is with if basically if Benjamin Watson left and you knew that Josh Hill was going to be on the field every play. Oh, I would, I would be all about Josh Hill.
Andy Holloway
You'd be really excited about it.
Jason Moore
And Jermaine Gresham left and that was Benjamin Watson.
Andy Holloway
And so when I first had potential too, he's highly talented.
Jason Moore
Like the first round, 21, 22, something like that.
Andy Holloway
So they also added their wide receivers right now are AJ Green.
Mike Wright
I didn't get a chance to talk about Ifert.
Andy Holloway
Oh, okay. Go for it. I'm sorry.
Mike Wright
I love Eifert this year. I think I have him at seventh right now in my rankings. Gresham and Ifert in 2013 because Ifert missed the entire year last year with his gruesome elbow injury which you can check out on vine if you've got an ironclad stomach.
Andy Holloway
Ew.
Mike Wright
But gresham and iford 120 targets. Now I know the offense is different, but Andy Dalton doesn't mind throwing to his tight end because Andy Dalton has some limitations and a big body tight end is, is perfect for him. Ifert that year had a 70% catch rate. He is an excellent pass catcher. He's going to be the move tight end. They drafted a tight end to block it so Ifra can do his thing. I just, I think the. It's his third year. Not full third year playing, but third year being in the NFL, learning, studying. Maybe he got a really good chance to hit the film and hit the books.
Andy Holloway
I got a question for you.
Jason Moore
All right.
Andy Holloway
Two guys that came out came into the league Together. Tyler Eifert or Zach Ertz? Who do you like more?
Jason Moore
Zach Ertz, 100,000%.
Mike Wright
He is. My side is much higher.
Andy Holloway
How can it be much higher than 7? You just put IFRT at 7. Where do you have his upside? You think it's higher?
Mike Wright
Zach Ertz? Yes, because Zach Ertz could be the.
Andy Holloway
Best receiver because of the offense.
Mike Wright
Yeah. I'm gonna let Jason go.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Well, just speaking on Zach Ertz, I've got Zach Ertz as my number one target in tight end right now. That's who I'm targeting in fantasy because you can get him very, very late, and I think he's got the potential to come up to like, that number. I think he could overtake just about everybody if he's on the field. You know, we talked, you know, a while back about the reason he wasn't on the field was his. Was his pass blocking. In that offense and in that offense, you know, you don't have the breaks where you bring in the guys to take out the guy. They just keep rolling, and you need to be on the field for that. But the rapport has been there with Macklin leaving. I think that he's somebody that actually steps in. We talk about there's got to be a number one guy there. I think he's going to put up huge numbers, and he has been there and been on the field and in training camp and playing. Whereas Eifert, you know, he might, you know, be the same age or the same amount of years, but he hasn't been there practicing because he's been injured. I think that's a big difference.
Andy Holloway
Let's rotate. Okay. Yeah. I was going to say let's talk Eifert.
Jason Moore
Well.
Mike Wright
Oh, sorry, real quick on Ertz, my last comparison, Ertz is very similar to Kelsey, where he had massive production in playing only about half the snaps. Where Kelsey is different is because he's going to be on the field and because he's great at everything else, and we know he's going to be there. The question for Ertz is can he do it?
Andy Holloway
Fair enough. A.J. green still there? Still in Cincinnati. Still a number one wide receiver.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Don't forget about A.J. green.
Jason Moore
The whole. I'm actually impressed with the. The more that I looked at the entire wide receiver clan there.
Mike Wright
Of the Bengals.
Jason Moore
Yeah, of the Bengals, including Iford as a. As kind of a pass catcher, Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu, AJ Green. So very few teams I would rather have the core of.
Andy Holloway
Well, they spent, you know, that's 21st passing offense last year AJ Green was hurt for a lot of it. And even when he was, I mean when he was playing, he was hurt. Mohamed Sanu had to lead that offense. Marvin Jones was.
Jason Moore
Marvin Jones was hurt. Marvin Jones was out. Tyler ifert was out. A.J. green was hurt.
Andy Holloway
So I mean by necessity and by preference to. They had to turn the ball over to Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard. Obviously we're very high on Jeremy Hill, but in a PPR league is. Is his role secure enough in that in the total carry amount that you're not worried about him? Would you draft him in the same spot or do you bump him back quite a bit?
Mike Wright
I bump him back maybe two slots. I think the playing time will completely be there. He has. People think, oh, Jeremy Hill's two down back. The guy can actually catch. He had, he had 27 catches for 215 yards last year and he grades out as a, as an excellent pass blocker. So there he can play that position where yeah, we think Gio Bernard is going to take that be the gadget third down guy. But it will not surprise me at all to see Hill on the field for more third downs. Kind of like similar to lynch last year is how I see Jeremy Hill happening this year where he. Lynch did he played a good amount of third downs, not all of them. There was a good amount where Robert Turbin came in and spelled him on third down. But he's just so good that it's hard to take him off the field and I think he proved that last year.
Andy Holloway
Do you have four set and Charles ahead or behind of Jeremy Hill in a PPR league?
Mike Wright
I think for set is higher. I'm not positive. Let me, let me look at that. Let me pull that up.
Andy Holloway
Did you have any thoughts on those running backs? What is Gio Bernard this year, Jason?
Jason Moore
I think Gio Bernard is a good player to have for the value he's going in a PPR league because he will score and he's kind of getting pooped all over because of Jeremy Hill's excellence. And if Jeremy Hill were to go out, you know that he has the capability of taking on that role, especially if it's only for, you know, the second half of the season or something like that. So I actually like Gio for where he's being drafted. I'm not looking at him as saying bump him up. I'm saying keep him where he's at.
Andy Holloway
Did you figure out the answer to the question I had?
Mike Wright
I was right. Justin Forsett at 5, Hill at 6 and Charles is Charles is locked in at 8 across everything. But I think Charles is going to get a slight bump for me coming up pretty soon.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. All right, let's transition over to the Browns. We got to go to the final team here. Jason, did you have something you're going to add?
Jason Moore
You know, I know he's not the sexiest person to bring up, but to pass over.
Mike Wright
Don't do it.
Jason Moore
To pass over Andy Dalton and to not say anything about him, we forget that a couple years ago he was the number three total quarterback in standard scoring. Numero choice.
Andy Holloway
And they call that the red year. That was the red year.
Jason Moore
Yeah. But we just named all the weapons he didn't have last year who are coming back and he is capable, at least in the regular season of putting up big numbers and he's being drafted very late. And so I just think this is a guy we should be actually giving a little bit of fantasy respect to because he presents a value to me for where he's going, especially as someone that drafts late on quarterbacks or preferred that strategy. Andy Dalton is a guy I'd be happy to. Happy to have super late.
Mike Wright
Andy Dalton had the year, the red.
Andy Holloway
Year, the red year, the red year.
Mike Wright
But the rest of his career reminds me of the Red wedding.
Andy Holloway
Not good. Not pretty. Not pretty. Tough to watch.
Mike Wright
I'm not on the fray side, if you catch my drift.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
Tough House starts for life.
Andy Holloway
Not many left. All right, let's talk Browns before we get to the end of the show. You guys want to talk Browns? Right?
Mike Wright
From red to brown. Let's go.
Andy Holloway
Red to brown. They were disastrous on the offensive side of the ball last year. 23rd best offense. They were the 27th best scoring offense. Now they bring in Josh McCown who's at the helm. Johnny Menzel in the wings. They have no Josh Gordon. They are rolling out Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline, both new additions. Andrew Hawkins is back, Taylor Gabriel is back. And then the running back core is a three headed menage monster.
Jason Moore
I like it.
Andy Holloway
Isaiah Cruell, Terrence west and Duke Johnson. And they also brought in Rob Howsler. So there's not much from honestly from last year that resembles this year. We know they have the ability to be a very capable offensive line and so we expect them to lean on the run game.
Jason Moore
Yeah, They've got Josh McCown. We expect them to lean on the run game.
Andy Holloway
Well said, well said. But McCown can sling it a little bit. Alshon. Jeffrey still has pictures of McCown up on his wall.
Jason Moore
I Know he's still getting paid. Matt Flynn made a lot of money for something he did in the past too. So I get Josh McCown came in. I had Josh McCown during those times with the Bears. I loved it.
Andy Holloway
McCown's the Benjamin Button of the NFL.
Jason Moore
Not according to last year. But my question here, genuine question. Because obviously both these guys are about to start for different new teams. But who is actually a better quarterback? Brian Hoyer or Josh McCown?
Andy Holloway
Josh McCown, without question. Really?
Jason Moore
Without question.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
It's not close.
Mike Wright
I think I would go with McCown as well.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Just so you see this as an upgrade to their offensive.
Andy Holloway
Yes. Yep.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And no, it's like an upgrade from the like 29th best quarterback to the 27th best quarterback. That's right.
Mike Wright
You're going from the 110 degree Porta John to the 87 degree Porta John.
Jason Moore
All right. Yeah, I'd much rather be in the 87 degree.
Andy Holloway
Porter.
Jason Moore
Is it humid? What's. What kind of humidity are we looking at?
Andy Holloway
Well, ultimately you'd, you'd like to not be an either, but you're stuck as the Cleveland Browns and all of our Cleveland Brown listeners out there, we're sorry.
Mike Wright
We like Josh McCown or I kind of like Josh McCall.
Andy Holloway
He's an ex Cardinal. Really like the Cardinals back when he was.
Mike Wright
And yeah, I think you're forgetting there was. There was a period a couple game stretch last year when he was. Because he came back from his injury where he was the hotness. Him and Mike Evans were tearing it up.
Andy Holloway
If you were streaming them. Yeah, there was a couple good games.
Mike Wright
There was I think a three game stretch where you, you kept rolling the dice on Josh McCown. He paid off eventually. He kind of pooped the bed.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to ask you guys put their wide receivers in order in terms of fantasy production this year.
Jason Moore
Dwayne Bowe first.
Mike Wright
We talking ppr.
Andy Holloway
Whatever you want. That's a different one. Pick one. Pick one. I mean, I mean, you know. All right. We're talking standard league. Standard league. Put them in order.
Mike Wright
Standard league.
Andy Holloway
Dwayne Boz, you wanted to say Andrew Hawkins name?
Mike Wright
Well, I've just. It changes. Dwayne Bowe, Taylor, Gabriel, Andrew Hawkins are my standard.
Andy Holloway
So heart lines at the bottom.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Hardline is he's the de facto starter right now and he's just that guy. He had back to back 1000 yard seasons and he just vanished.
Andy Holloway
Who was that?
Mike Wright
Vanished? He was Houdini.
Andy Holloway
Who is the receiver for Houston that played opposite of Andre Johnson, all those years. Kevin Walter. Oh, yeah, that's who Brian Hartline reminds me of. Not just because they're both white, but because they're both like. They go out there and they. They give you like three or four catches, and it's never, you know, three catches for 48 yards and no touchdowns or four for 62. Heartline does. I mean, they say it looks good in camp, but I just don't think there's much production there.
Jason Moore
How big a league do you need to be in to start really considering, you know, Hawkins or Brian Hartline to roster?
Andy Holloway
If I'm in ppr, I roster Hawkins.
Mike Wright
Did you know that Hawkins, through the first eight games, he averaged 10 targets a game. Then somehow everything just fell apart. In the last six, he averaged five targets. But Hawkins was a PPR beast for a while.
Jason Moore
But now with Dwayne Bowe coming in and primarily being the number one receiver, you really think there's going to be enough? Because I think the Browns just, I mean, the same coaching staff, and I think they brought in McCown because it's a different O coordinator, game manager. And I think that they are going to run the ball. Run the ball, run the ball. And so I think the number one receiver is clearly going to be Dwayne Bowe, who I'm actually liking the value of. Yes, welcome. It's close.
Andy Holloway
You guys can stay in that. It's gross to me by yourselves together. But my point is, I'm not jumping on that ever again.
Jason Moore
I don't think there's going to be enough PPR scraps behind it. That's just my take. I think, honestly, the PPR scraps behind it might be Duke Johnson. That's what I think.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I still like Hawkins. Let's put those guys in order then. Standard league. Is it cruel? Johnson, West. Corral West. Johnson.
Jason Moore
I see Crowell. Johnson, West. Because I think west comes in.
Andy Holloway
Your point about Duke Johnson is not wrong. Because he might line up in the slot, so he might take away from Hawkins. So ring the bell. You're not wrong.
Jason Moore
Is that. I thought this was a unanimous bell. Is this. Is this just a Jason's right bell?
Mike Wright
No, that's the shame bell, actually. You just shamed yourself.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
In standard. I think for me it's Crowell, West, Johnson.
Andy Holloway
All right, before we get over to the mailbag, I do want to talk about one more Cleveland Brown that I am higher on than both of you guys. And that's Rob Hausler. He comes in. Hey.
Mike Wright
Hey.
Jason Moore
What he was about him too. I was just the only one.
Andy Holloway
What do you mean you're about him too?
Jason Moore
Yeah. Well.
Mike Wright
Okay. We need to play back the tape when we both talk.
Andy Holloway
We are going to have to.
Jason Moore
Yeah. You two were both.
Andy Holloway
Hi Mike liked Houseler.
Mike Wright
Yeah. You're just remembering how horrible and the.
Andy Holloway
Sour grapes were here. I was sour enough about to seem like two people.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I took.
Andy Holloway
I took you double stuffed Robert Hauser. Hatred.
Jason Moore
It's. You know it's not a difficult task to take Rob Hauser to the.
Andy Holloway
So Jordan Cameron's gone. He produced last year when he was healthy and unconcussed that game. Unconcussed is the official term. Rob Hausler is a pass catcher. He ain't going to be in there blocking.
Mike Wright
No, that's. That is. That is the truth.
Andy Holloway
So is he their best receiver?
Mike Wright
No, no. Dwayne Bowler. The struggle was when I was trying to write up some notes on these guys. What I got for Rob Hausler was how well he did hit the combine.
Andy Holloway
That's his career highlight so far.
Mike Wright
That was the highlight for Rob Howler.
Jason Moore
Pete a little too early got him drafted.
Andy Holloway
Hey keep your eye on him though. Keep your eye on him.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he could be absolutely a streamer.
Andy Holloway
But we don't have any stats for you because he hasn't produced in the nf.
Mike Wright
Yeah and we kind of glossed over the running backs but I think Duke Johnson is completely worth a late round flyer of. He has the three down ability.
Andy Holloway
The Browns they're not over committed to either of those other guys. Yeah, that's the thing.
Mike Wright
Sometimes they bench guys, they make them inactive. They do all kinds of weird things and who knows by the by week.
Andy Holloway
But when Alex Matt gets hurt. Release them all. Just release them all into the abyss immediately. Alright, I'm joking about that but it's nice that he's back. So let's answer some questions.
Jason Moore
Mailbag.
Andy Holloway
It was harder today to kind of stuff all the information about those teams into one show. I felt like there was still more we could have talked about and I guess we will.
Mike Wright
Well I didn't even get to talk about Dwayne Bowe that much.
Andy Holloway
Well yeah we're thankful for Me and.
Mike Wright
Jason are on the Dwayne Bow rainbow.
Jason Moore
I don't want to get too crazy on Dwayne Bow here.
Mike Wright
Join me.
Andy Holloway
If you have a question you can call us. 30246 I'm saying the number here. Now you say the number 602. No that's not the number.
Jason Moore
I'll say the number. It's 302464, TFFB 302464 8332.
Andy Holloway
You can call us. Leave your question on our voice mailbox. I was thinking of Dwayne Bowe or just dial 602. Just dial.
Mike Wright
I have Dwayne Bow on speed dial and I was thinking of his phone number.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's answer some questions.
D
Hey guys, this is Stephen. I'm the one who called in or actually emailed in with the 25 round QQB PPR startup dynasty graph. Got Eli Manning and Teddy Bridgewater as my starting two and looking down at the list, I kind of missed on a third quarterback. So if you guys could talk to which backups have the most potential to start and soon, that would be great.
Andy Holloway
Thanks a lot.
D
Love the show.
Andy Holloway
That's a good question. One bit of news that came out today is actually the fact that Matt Castle is looking pretty terrible.
Mike Wright
That is, that is actually shocking to me.
Andy Holloway
It is because they, I mean, this report was, I think, a little bit hyperbolic. I don't think he's leaving that team, but they would save money if they cut him. But it was basically saying Manual has outperformed him significantly in camp. And the fact that, you know, this doesn't necessarily help Stephen very much, but if E.J. manuel's right behind Matt Castle, he won't be drafted. What are some other guys? What are some other names that come to mind for you?
Jason Moore
Ryan Fitzpatrick. Ryan Fitzpatrick to me is a guy that will be starting in week four or five once he's healthy and will perform.
Mike Wright
If we're just talking about maybe some later, I guess for this is for right now categories, right?
Andy Holloway
There's the category of a backlog might play because someone gets hurt and then there's the category of a backup might play because they supersede and take over for the incumbent monitor Colt McCoy and.
Mike Wright
Captain Kirk in Washington. They've shown that they will sit RG3 down and with his contract the way it is structured where he is, he's guaranteed his money becomes guaranteed if he gets hurt for next year. So if Washington doesn't like what they're seeing, they're going to sit his butt down and they're not going to take the risk of him getting injured and collecting a paycheck for next year so he could take over.
Andy Holloway
Pains me to say it, but if McCown doesn't overly impress compared to Manziel, Manzil at least has the legs to where if he does start, I'm looking for Guys, there's not a lot of incumbents that can be taken over for.
Mike Wright
Manziel is the 125 degree Porta John.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah, I tried my best.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Brandon, so long play. Maybe Brandon Whedon in Dallas.
Andy Holloway
Injury wise.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Where Romo is, he's been. He's done. All right, but hit. I mean, that back of his is pretty screwed up.
Andy Holloway
It's tough to take a flyer in any of these guys in terms of drafting.
Jason Moore
Yeah, well, he already did the draft, so now it's just picking up. I mean, he's.
Andy Holloway
He's wanting to pick up a free agent. I can't think of any other big names.
Jason Moore
Ryan Mallet.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
If Brian Hoyer's got the role, I think Ryan Mallet's the better play there. I'm just thinking teams that have decent.
Mike Wright
Ryan Mallet is a good one.
Andy Holloway
That's a good one. Or vice versa. Derek Anderson, if Mallet wins the starting role.
Mike Wright
Hey, all right.
Jason Moore
I mean, I almost mentioned Derek Anderson. It's a. I mean, Cam does run and if he gets injured, Derek will.
Andy Holloway
Do fine on that run. First team. Yeah. All right, let's go to another question here.
D
Hey, guys, love the show. I had a question about a 12 team PPR league. Standard positions. You're looking at quarterback, running one, quarterback, two running backs, three. Wide receiver, no flex. I am stacked at wide receiver. And I'm wondering right now if I should trade Alshon Jeffrey for Jeremy Hill. The other wide receivers I have are AJ Green, Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins, Cordrell Patterson and a few other prospects. So would you do that? Would you trade Jeremy Hill for Alshon Jeffrey? Thanks.
Jason Moore
Trade Jeremy Hill, wasn't it?
Mike Wright
No, he was. Trade Hill.
Andy Holloway
Right now he has A.J. green, he has Sammy Watkins, he has DeAndre Hopkins. That's not overly strong.
Mike Wright
You're not as stacked as you think you are. And that was actually going to be my first point is generally when a player. I'm stacked at this position and then they explain who the roster is, you. Well, you just cool it. I mean, you're talking one injury or losing one player and all of a sudden you go from stacked to I'm okay at that position, which. That's what you're talking about. If you're trading Jeffrey for Hill, I think the deal is completely fair.
Jason Moore
Don't.
Andy Holloway
It is a PPR.
Mike Wright
He said PPR.
Andy Holloway
It's a 12 team hand. 12 team PPR. I don't do that trade.
Jason Moore
Try to package DeAndre Hopkins with something else for Jeremy Hill.
Andy Holloway
There you go.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's perfect.
Andy Holloway
There you go. That's. That's a better decision, I guess, than extrapolating what you said. We like Jeffrey. We like Jeffrey a lot more.
Mike Wright
Hopkins and Patterson. Sell him. Patterson's going to start.
Jason Moore
No, he's running with the twos, which is true. You guys see that? He's been running with twos the entire.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Oh, Patterson.
Andy Holloway
We should make a, like, a 15 minute fake podcast that we link somewhere else and all of our listeners, like, send that one podcast their friends and then we don't.
Mike Wright
Yeah, there's no way that would backfire.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that would be terrible. That'd be terrible branding. We wouldn't call it the same show, obviously. Call it ESPN or something. All right, let's go over to.
D
Hey, this is Tony Meatball. Question. I got a second overall pick. My brother has the first overall pick. And I was just. I was stuck between Lasyan Bell, Adrian Peterson, and Jamal Chauffe. So I was wondering what you guys think. Your input and. Thank you. You guys are as consistent as spaghetti.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
We love Tony Meatballs. Tony with a name like Tony Meatball. And he brings it. He is. Tony Meatball fully owns it.
Andy Holloway
Well, he's got three meatballs to choose from here. Le'Veon Bell, Adrian Peterson, and J. Mall Charles.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I would take Adrian Peterson right now.
Mike Wright
I would take Adrian Peterson.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I take AP as well. Hey, there it is. All right, we got another voicemail question coming up.
D
Hey, fellas, jump right into it. A couple questions for you guys. 12 man and a half, PPR keeper league. I'm keeping Gronk in the seventh and ODB in the eighth, and I draft 12th overall. The way our keepers are set up, I'm projecting to have at least four of these next few guys I mentioned on the board for my first two picks. Foster, Anderson, demarius, Julio and Nelson. I love Foster this year, so I'm undoubtedly taking him with one of those picks if he falls to me. But with the keepers I have, and hypothetically, if all the guys above were all on the board, which two would you take? If Anderson and Foster were gone, would you take two more solid receivers or try to reach for first set for another running back?
Andy Holloway
All right, let's answer that. We've got. He said he wants Foster out of those. He has Gronk and ODB on his team and he gave us Foster, C.J. demarius, Julio and Nelson. Foster I definitely take. He's my number one ranked running back for sure. So between C.J. anderson, Demarius, Julio and Nelson, I believe based on team formation, would you guys consider CJ Anderson here because he has Odell Beckham?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I would consider him, but I would still rank the other three or, you know, at least two of the three ahead of C.J. anderson. So I would go wide receiver.
Mike Wright
With that second spot would go Foster and Julio Jones. Of those guys because Julio Jones is elite.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'd go Foster and Julio as well.
Jason Moore
That is unanimous.
Andy Holloway
That is true. This email comes in from Ken. He says Hogan, Nash and Hall.
Mike Wright
I'm Hall. I'm Scott Hall.
Jason Moore
I'm Steve Nash.
Andy Holloway
I'm Hulk Hogan.
Jason Moore
We could not have got that right.
Mike Wright
Raise a Ramon.
Andy Holloway
Not even close. All right. When dealing with yo keeper league, when dealing with the keeper league, how many teams have to change hands to reboot the league without keepers? Also, how do you handle expansion with keepers? I can speak to the second point.
Jason Moore
I can speak to the first.
Mike Wright
All right, well, I can do both.
Andy Holloway
Whoa. What?
Jason Moore
You're amazing. The hitman.
Andy Holloway
No, here's what I'm wearing a man bun.
Jason Moore
I don't think it's a. I don't think it's a number of teams required to start over and to reboot. I think what it is is whichever teams aren't leaving have to desire that. So you've got to have the buy in of whatever teams are sticking around because I think you could have 12 returning and just say, hey guys, let's reboot. Everybody wants to start fresh other than the one guy who's dominating or something. You know, I screw that guy. I think you just really need, you know, the unanimous or not unanimous, but the, you know, good majority of the people who were there last year. So if you got two new teams coming in and there's 10 left, you know, those have to be a majority they want to or four or whatever. I don't think it matters the number.
Andy Holloway
And to your second point about how do you handle expansion with keepers? The most important thing to do in that situation is that you need to let. You need to decide as a league way ahead of time that you're going to expand with keepers because that's going to require you to make considerations for the new teams in the form of keepers. They need keepers to be in a keeper league. And so if you want to do this expansion, you need to let people know a year before, okay, that's one thing we did in our league. And then what we did, I guess that's the best way to say it is we held a expansion Draft for the two new teams, all of the players that were back in the pool after keepers were selected. Those two teams alternated picks until they had three keepers. Our league was a three keeper league. And then that those first six picks were off the board and then they just joined in at the back of the round for the remaining draft.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Say that's how we did it. In my other important league, you come in and you don't get. You don't have keepers. That's actually how we do it where the cost and penalty to keep a keeper is fair. So for the teams that come in, you just start with a fresh team.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that makes sense. A little brutal, especially for those that do have the compensation that you're giving something up depending on most leagues do have the round trade off. So that makes sense. All right, from the website, Marcos asks, he said he's been doing some research on wide receiver handcuffs. What exactly is your thoughts on this draft strategy?
Jason Moore
Very few.
Andy Holloway
Very few thoughts.
Jason Moore
No. Very few wide receiver handcuffs that I think are worth. I'm a simple man. The only one that comes to mind right off the bat is Devontae Parker or Devonte Adams. Devonte Adams, Yeah. Because I think that if you are the owner of either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb, then drafting Adams is a good thing because you're you. Even if the other guy goes down, I think you can play both. But if your guy goes down, then you're protected. That's. I mean, what, what other situations are there? Because I don't think it's normal.
Andy Holloway
It's not as cut and dry normally like that. Like, I mean, you have guys like Terence Newman who, you know could step into a bigger role of. Des went down, but he, he's also playing. Devonte Adams doesn't play as much, but he probably will this year. So.
Mike Wright
Yeah, maybe, maybe Moncrief in Indy.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I don't, I don't think so because.
Andy Holloway
I don't know, I think our thoughts are that you just don't really pay too much attention.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
Because you'd rather spend what you would think would be this handcuffed wide receiver situation on another flyer. I'd rather have Rashad Perryman on my roster to see what he becomes. I'd rather have Philip Dorset over Moncrief to see what he becomes.
Jason Moore
Don't, don't worry about this. Don't worry about going and getting a handcuff for your team. The only thing that you do want to do is that when you have a guy on your. When it comes time around the rounds where you're considering some of these high potential Cody Latimer or Devonte Adams.
Andy Holloway
Latimer is a good name.
Jason Moore
If you have, you know, that's where when it's time and it's appropriate to grab those guys and you would grab them whether or not you have, you know, Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson or the Mary's, Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. If you've got one of those guys, it's not a bad idea. Don't shy away from taking them because that puts two of them on your team.
Andy Holloway
What about like situation like having Julio Jones and grabbing Roddy White and if you can get him in the sixth.
Mike Wright
Or seventh round, the doubling up just on the one in the two.
Andy Holloway
Well, because you might not play white every week, but you know, if Julio went down, Roddy becomes.
Jason Moore
See, I think where you're drafting White. Yeah. That's you're drafting him to play and I don't want to play both. They're not Jordy and Cobb or your grip.
Mike Wright
The Handcuff is a 3. Who becomes the clear 2 or 1 if there's an injury?
Andy Holloway
Jeff from the capital of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario.
Jason Moore
I was hoping you made it into a, you know, question, a trivia question and I would have failed. Go on.
Andy Holloway
Oh, this one comes in from Jeff from the capital of Canada. What is it?
Jason Moore
Ottawa.
Andy Holloway
Hey, there you go.
Mike Wright
Gotta burn the burn the French Canadians, huh?
Andy Holloway
I'm surprised I didn't get a bonjour from you. Como estas? After drafting on Fantasy Pro's draft wizard, I always get my team rated and most of the time it's not that great. Should I be concerned?
Mike Wright
No.
Jason Moore
No.
Andy Holloway
Tell them why. Tell him why. Our friend to the north, the reason.
Jason Moore
That you don't get too concerned is because what they're ranking it on is opinion. Just like the opinion of whether or not you like the guys that were drafted. Now you're going against experts, right? So you would think, you would hope that their opinions are valuable, but if you look at all of the experts, all of them, they all disagree on certain players and who's ahead of who. So you're talking about one specific final algorithm that says this is the value of a guy. I mean you, if you wanted to.
Andy Holloway
Do that right now, right in the end of June when a lot of those lists aren't finalized necessarily by those.
Jason Moore
Experts, essentially, if you want in that game, if you want your rating to be the best, just grab the guy that they always recommend the most. But you're not going to like your team.
Andy Holloway
Yep. That's why you listen to this show and get different information so that you can make the best possible decision with your team every single time. And obviously there are tendencies. You know, as great as fantasydraftwizard.com is, you can't have your other league mates draft the players before and after you.
Jason Moore
Yeah. If you want to know how you did, just tweet us the picture and then you'll get human beings to help you.
Andy Holloway
He also has a comment. He just said that our last podcast, when he wrote this in, it was the mock draft episode from June 11. He said it was one of our best because he got to hear the advice we gave and put it into practice or hear us put it into practice during the draft. So he's asking, are we willing to do some more of those shows with different configurations?
Jason Moore
I think we need to. I think we need to do a PPR draft. Yeah.
Mike Wright
We did standard, correct.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And we've talked about this. We definitely will. We got a lot of really good feedback from that show where we did a full live draft. Well, basically through, what, the seventh or eighth round?
Mike Wright
No, we went all the way to kickers, defense. We just didn't grab those.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So we did a full live draft on the show using fantasy draft wizard and we. We chose one team and one draft spot and we did a standard league. And so we're going to come back, we're going to do a show for PPR league for PPR players. We'll do a live mock draft and we'll probably do another standard mock closer to the season as we see more things in camp play out. So stay tuned for those. For sure.
Jason Moore
Yeah. If we move to more shows a week, we might just throw in maybe a special kind of like we did with the Saturday mailbag. Just throw in a couple special mock drafts or something where. Here's us drafting early. Here's us drafting late.
Andy Holloway
Yep.
Jason Moore
The middle.
Andy Holloway
I also want to make a quick comment. We have our rankings on the website or some of our rankings on the website. We're still getting them all up. Mike has.
Mike Wright
It's the tortoise. The tortoise wins the race.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So Mike's got his. His full rankings up there.
Mike Wright
Jason's the tortoise.
Andy Holloway
Thank you.
Jason Moore
You understand the effort goes in.
Andy Holloway
Well, that's because he double stuffs his ranking, so it takes longer. I have. I went through and I updated my quarterbacks and running backs today. I just want to speak to the. I've got a little bit of Feedback over putting Colin Kaepernick fourth on my standard rankings. We talked about him on the last show. I just want you guys to know he's no longer fourth. He is six, you coward. He's six, you coward. I only say that because I realize you would call me a coward.
Mike Wright
Shame.
Andy Holloway
No, stop. Take the bell away. The reason he dropped from four to six. I want you to understand how close these are. I took one passing touchdown away from Colin Kaepernick from 25 to 24, and that dropped him four points.
Jason Moore
Two spots.
Andy Holloway
It dropped him back two spots. So it just tells you how close. In a standard league, I had him. And so if you want to hear more about my rationale about Colin Kaepernick before you light me up on Twitter, you can go ahead and listen to the last show when we talked to the NFC west and the San Francisco 49ers and some of the outlook for him and decide if I'm crazy and then let me know or if the.
Jason Moore
Double stuff's got that perfect spot on number nine.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And also, thank you for all the amazing entries into the listener league.
Jason Moore
Amazing.
Andy Holloway
We haven't written all of you back, obviously, and obviously we only have 11 spots to give out. And so there will be a lot of people that. We love your entry and we love your contribution to the show and your loyalty to the show, but obviously there's only so many spots. So we are going to try to get back to everybody who did send an entry in, but just bear in mind that there's only so many spots.
Mike Wright
And I will say this, since we have, since the dawn of time, when we announced this, the equality and the level of thought and time and effort these people are. The game is increasing.
Andy Holloway
That's right. The standards have been raised. The bar has been raised.
Mike Wright
Every single time we let somebody in, the standards go up. Not just because of us, but because of what people are doing.
Jason Moore
Yeah. The creativity people are putting in the time and the effort. It's great. And if you want to be in, all you have to do is supersede that by just giving us $10,000 cash.
Andy Holloway
Right. That is.
Jason Moore
No creativity required.
Mike Wright
Yeah, we could be.
Andy Holloway
We can be bribed. That's very creative, if you ask me. The most creative. But if you do have an entry or an idea, you can email us mail atthe fantasy footballers.com oftentimes we get people asking, like, what's the best way to ask questions about your team or about any of those things anyway is fine. Facebook, Twitter are fine. But mail the fancyfootballers.com is probably the easiest for most people. And obviously you can call the show 302-464-TFF. B. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter heffballers and visit us on the web. You can check out those rankings. You can check out our water bets. We have an NFC east set of articles that are coming out this week from some of our guest contributors. They should be very good. Any other parting thoughts, gentlemen, before I bid?
Mike Wright
Jason is about to eat.
Andy Holloway
That is a plastic.
Mike Wright
Oh, it was plastic toast.
Andy Holloway
That's a plastic piece of toast. That one of my kids.
Mike Wright
I thought you had a Newton. Oh, man, I thought you had.
Jason Moore
Wait, I don't cheat on an Oreo.
Mike Wright
I thought you had a cookie.
Andy Holloway
No, no, that's toast.
Mike Wright
Oh, you got me. It's not a cookie, it's a Fig Newton.
Andy Holloway
Come on, that's toast.
Jason Moore
I stick to my Oreos, man. They're magically delicious.
Andy Holloway
See you Thursday.
Jason Moore

Fantasy Footballers Podcast - Episode: AFC North Breakdown, News, Mailbag
Release Date: June 23, 2015
Hosts: Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright
In this episode, the Fantasy Footballers dive deep into the intricacies of the AFC North, analyzing team dynamics, player performances, and their implications for fantasy football. The hosts also tackle listener questions, providing expert advice to help fans navigate their fantasy leagues effectively.
"Fantasy teams are going to miss the playoffs this year because of..."
Jason Moore (02:01):
"I'm gonna go Tom Brady. ... He's a middle of the pack quarterback that you're reaching for in the seventh and then having to draft another guy. I just don't think it's gonna help anybody's team."
Andy Holloway (02:38):
"I don't draft Tom Brady. He's off my board. He's a waste."
Jason Moore (03:05):
"We talk so much about the value of your picks... but then people throw that out the window and throw a pick out the window by drafting Tom Brady... But that doesn't help your fantasy team this year."
Summary:
The hosts argue against drafting high-profile quarterbacks like Tom Brady in the middle rounds, suggesting that it can dilute a fantasy team's overall value. They emphasize the importance of maximizing draft picks by selecting players who offer consistent fantasy points rather than relying on famed but potentially average performers.
Ben Roethlisberger's Performance:
"He had eight games with one or less touchdowns... and the cost for Big Ben, you're kind of locking in a guy that you're going to want to keep in the roster."
(Mike Wright, 20:07)
Martavis Bryant's Potential:
"If Martavis Bryant is going to do what we want and expect him to do, doesn't that kind of fill those holes that Big Ben has been missing and take away those games or not?"
(Jason Moore, 22:50)
Summary:
The Steelers' offense presents a mixed bag. While Ben Roethlisberger has shown moments of brilliance, his inconsistency poses a risk for fantasy owners. Martavis Bryant emerges as a promising asset, capable of stepping up and providing reliable fantasy points, especially if he integrates well into the offense.
Offensive Changes:
"Mark Tressman's coming in, you pick up Rashad Perryman in the first round, you sign or you draft Max Williams at the tight end position..."
(Andy Holloway, 27:50)
Justin Forsett's Role:
"Justin Forsett, I think he's going to get 75 catches, which will be huge for him."
(Jason Moore, 27:50)
Summary:
With significant changes to the Ravens' offensive lineup, there's uncertainty surrounding their fantasy prospects. Justin Forsett is highlighted as a key player who could dominate the receiving yards, while Steve Smith's veteran presence is balanced against emerging talents like Rashad Perryman.
Jeremy Hill's Value:
"Jeremy Hill is a monster almost every single game."
(Jason Moore, 32:20)
Tyler Eifert's Potential:
"Tyler Eifert is stepping into a role as the full-time tight end... he's going to be the moving tight end."
(Mike Wright, 33:51)
Summary:
Jeremy Hill continues to be a reliable PPR (Points Per Reception) asset for the Bengals, with his dual-threat capability as both a runner and receiver. Tyler Eifert is positioned as a sleeper pick, potentially offering significant fantasy value if he solidifies his role in the offense.
Quarterback Situation:
"Josh McCown, without question."
(Jason Moore, 42:26)
Wide Receiver Outlook:
"Steve Smith has the better year and he's going obviously later."
(Jason Moore, 31:03)
Summary:
The Browns present a challenging scenario with inconsistent quarterback performances. Josh McCown is viewed as an upgrade over Brian Hoyer, offering better stability. On the wide receiver front, Steve Smith remains a dependable choice, while Rashad Perryman's role is debated, making him a potential late-round flyer.
Listener Question:
"I'm projecting to have at least four of these next few guys... which two would you take? If Anderson and Foster were gone, would you take two more solid receivers or try to reach for first set for another running back?"
Jason Moore:
"Ryan Fitzpatrick is a guy that will be starting in week four or five once he's healthy and will perform."
(50:30)
Andy Holloway:
"Miguel Jones is a good one."
(52:09)
Advice:
Ryan Fitzpatrick emerges as a viable backup quarterback option, while alternatives like Ryan Mallet are suggested for their potential to start mid-season.
Listener Question:
"Should I trade Alshon Jeffery for Jeremy Hill given my current roster?"
Mike Wright:
"You're not as stacked as you think you are."
Jason Moore:
"Don't team it."
Andy Holloway:
"Don't do that trade."
Advice:
The consensus is to avoid trading Alshon Jeffery for Jeremy Hill outright. Instead, consider packaging additional assets (e.g., DeAndre Hopkins) to secure Jeremy Hill, ensuring a fair exchange without depleting the wide receiver depth.
Listener Question:
"What are your thoughts on drafting wide receiver handcuffs?"
Jason Moore:
"Very few wide receiver handcuffs are worth it. The only ones that come to mind are Devonte Adams if you own Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb."
(60:25)
Andy Holloway:
"I'd rather spend what you would think would be on the handcuffed wide receiver situation on another flyer."
Advice:
Avoid investing heavily in wide receiver handcuffs unless you have specific scenarios where their primary receivers star players are highly valuable and have clear backups.
Draft Strategy:
Team-Specific Evaluations:
Mailbag Takeaways:
Jason Moore (02:01):
"I'm gonna go Tom Brady... I don't think it's going to help anybody's team."
Andy Holloway (02:38):
"I don't draft Tom Brady. He's off my board. He's a waste."
Mike Wright (20:07):
"He had eight games with one or less touchdowns. That was a kind of crippling thing."
Jason Moore (22:50):
"If Martavis Bryant is going to do what we want and expect him to do, doesn't that kind of fill those holes that Big Ben has been missing?"
Jason Moore (31:03):
"I think Steve Smith has the better year and he's going obviously later."
Jason Moore (40:34):
"I think Josh McCown is an upgrade from the 29th best quarterback to the 27th best quarterback."
