Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Jason is dancing. We're back. It is Wednesday, September 2nd. This is the Fantasy Footballers podcast. I'm Andy Holloway joined by Jason Moore.
Jason Moore
Howdy, everybody.
Andy Holloway
And Mike the fantasy Hitman.
Mike Wright
Book it.
Andy Holloway
Oh, is that a shout out? A little bit Little league shout out. Welcome to the show. We've got a good one for you today. We're going to be spending a lot of time answering listener questions. We know you have them, so we are here to answer them.
Jason Moore
We got the best listeners. Might as well ask their questions.
Andy Holloway
Their clan is pretty good. We've also got a friend of the show on today, Christopher Harris from the Harris Football Podcast. And we. We're gonna just have a conversation.
Mike Wright
Christopher Harris is our. Pff.
Andy Holloway
We're gonna try to verify podcast friends forever. I'm gonna. You know what I'm gonna ask.
Mike Wright
You're not glossing over me?
Andy Holloway
No, I am glossing over you. It is one of my joys in life. I'm gonna ask him about Fred Jackson, see if he really is the depth chart assassin.
Mike Wright
Spoiler alert. Yes.
Andy Holloway
Well, we'll see. So you guys ready to go? You want to answer some listener questions? I got a quick question for you today.
Jason Moore
All right, shoot.
Andy Holloway
Who would you start of these three guys? Devonte Adams, Stevie Johnson or Ty Hilton? Week one, Devonte Adams or Ty Hilton?
Mike Wright
And I heard of Stevie Johnson in there. He get cut out of the equation?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he did. This is a question that I just got, so I'm going to make it our quick question of the day. Ty Hilton or Devonte Adams? It's a really legitimate question because Hilton is, I think, too esteemed in the fantasy community.
Jason Moore
I'm going to go Hilton. So.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
Yeah, no, I like Hilton. I think that he's matchup proof for now. And we don't know yet what we've gotten. Devonte Adams. So I go Ty Hilton.
Andy Holloway
I think that's fine. I probably would go Hilton too. I just think he is. What? He's had some big games. He's got a desean Jackson aspect to him, but people think of him as a guaranteed bona fide tier one, do they not?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I think that's the common thread. I think his floor is a lot higher than desean Jackson. And I am going to go with the unknown Devonte Adams, who was playing the Chicago Bears, whose defense was highly suspect, highly suspectable for.
Andy Holloway
Wow, you are jacked up. You're very excited. What did you call Chris Harris?
Mike Wright
Pff. Podcast.
Andy Holloway
Podcast. Friends forever. All right, so we're gonna. We're gonna skip the news section today and just go into listener questions. We want to get through as many as we can today. And so we'll catch you up on all the news little bit tomorrow. So first question for you guys. This one comes in from Gary.
Jason Moore
Whoa.
Andy Holloway
What?
Mike Wright
Where's the drop? I was warming up.
Andy Holloway
Oh, you're right, dude. I'm not used to it at the beginning.
Jason Moore
Mailbag. Mailbag.
Andy Holloway
Extra. I was rushing. I was rushing and you had to slow me down.
Mike Wright
You gotta relax.
Andy Holloway
I was rushing like Joy Bell will rush Week one.
Mike Wright
Very slow.
Jason Moore
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Mike Wright
Hey, I hear Joy coming.
Andy Holloway
These guys were tormenting me all pre show, which is just crazy.
Jason Moore
I can't wait to watch Joy Bell Week one. I am salivating to see because one of us.
Andy Holloway
That's great.
Jason Moore
Punch the other one metaphorically in the mouth.
Andy Holloway
It's great because you just already kind of punched yourself in the mouth because you just openly admitted something you had argued against for a while that he would play week one.
Jason Moore
I'm. I have never once argued that he's going to play week one. I've argued that he's going to play well week one. He is not.
Andy Holloway
You know what I haven't heard in a while? You know what sound I haven't heard in a while? I haven't heard any Abdullah Express coming into the station in a while. Where's the Abdullah Express been?
Jason Moore
It's here.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's already arrived. We don't need to hear it. Pull up into the station.
Jason Moore
ADP is already too late.
Andy Holloway
We don't need to start the show. So contentious. Let's go and talk to Garrett here. Garrett in Temecula, California. Two questions. Should he drop Delaney Walker for Zach Ertz? Well, answer that one real quick.
Jason Moore
It.
Andy Holloway
Nope.
Jason Moore
Well, you know.
Andy Holloway
Sorry. I answered it for me.
Jason Moore
It depends.
Andy Holloway
And he's out.
Jason Moore
Well, right, but it depends on your bench. If you've got another. Another tight end and he's your second guy on your bench, then, yeah, I would rather have Ertz.
Andy Holloway
If he's your second guy, you should drop Delaney Walker and not sign Ertz.
Jason Moore
That's an option.
Mike Wright
I. Yeah, I'm not going to carry two tight ends. And until I know first for sure that Zach Ertz is going to suit up, you just, you can't hold on to him.
Andy Holloway
All right, so then who does he start at wide receiver? Mike Evans, DeAndre Hopkins or Brandon Marshall?
Mike Wright
Evans. Hopkins. Marshall.
Andy Holloway
Yep.
Mike Wright
Let's. The Evans is still dealing with the injury that we haven't really heard an update on that we don't know 100% of his health. So I would start it with Hopkins.
Jason Moore
I would as well.
Andy Holloway
Alright, let's talk to. Let's answer this one here. Josh. In San Francisco, I can keep two of the following players at these prices. Okay. Jeremy Hill for seven bucks.
Jason Moore
It's good.
Andy Holloway
Jordan Matthews for four, Dez Bryant for 47, Ty Hilton for 17 and Travis Kelsey for $1. It is a PPR league, so Kelsey.
Mike Wright
Is the wild card here because it was. It was already. It was Jeremy Hill and Jordan Matthews.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that was easy for me because.
Mike Wright
The upside is is there for them to finish as ones in their respective.
Andy Holloway
How are you feeling about Jeremy Hill right now?
Mike Wright
Feel great.
Andy Holloway
Still feel just fine with it.
Mike Wright
Feel great. Man. Those third downs really boosted my. My hope for him. I would have liked to see the. The booth reviewer people be accurate.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
In the Cincinnati game and give him that touchdown. But I still feel the work share splitting up there in Cincinnati seems to be going heavily. Jeremy Hill, which, which was the. That's the question, right? No one's questioning Jeremy Hill's talent. It's will he be on the field? I think the answer is yes. So let's, let's work through these guys. Are you going? I'm keeping Hill for $7. Then it's Jordan Matthews versus Kelsey.
Andy Holloway
I keep Matthews for four.
Jason Moore
I do.
Andy Holloway
Absolutely.
Jason Moore
I do too. And here's why. In an auction draft, the market changes as you draft and I've seen a couple auction mocks recently where you can get either Olson or kelsey for like 10 bucks and most of the time they're going for like 20. So it really does depend on how the market fleshes out. But you're never going to get Jordan Matthews for that.
Mike Wright
I agree. I'm going Matthews and the reason is Olson where I still want Kelsey, I still want Zeus as my tight end. But Olson has. Has taken a bump up as we saw with the 5,000 targets in limited time on that Panthers game.
Andy Holloway
Let's go ahead and Answer this one here. It comes in from James in Houston. And this question fits what's going on in the ADP boards right now, because we've been talking about this. This is. Who do you start, Doug Martin or Jonathan Stewart? Okay, but let me give you some context here. This is.
Mike Wright
We're talking Week one or just.
Andy Holloway
We are talking Week one. So I'll give you their matchups. But right now, we said Doug Martin has passed Jonathan Stewart in adp.
Mike Wright
Correct.
Andy Holloway
Which cray cray for all of us, we think is kind of crazy. Right?
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
But here's why. Okay. Here's why he's thinking. He said he's a leaning Martin because of how well he's done in this preseason, even though he's burned in before.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
He said Stewart seems a little safer. So this is what's going through people's minds right now. So the Buccaneers.
Jason Moore
I'm glad this question is being asked because we need to speak to this.
Andy Holloway
So the buccaneers in Week 1 are playing the Titans. Okay. And Carolina.
Jason Moore
Yeah, but you got the Jaguars for Carolina. It's not.
Andy Holloway
That's what I was going to say. Carolina's playing the Jaguars. So who do you start in that situation? I know we're a little ways out, but this is about when you're thinking.
Mike Wright
I think the defensive matchups for both of those guys. It leans to the Titans for me, but because they're so close together, I'm going to take the guy who I think is the better running back, and that's Jonathan Stewart.
Jason Moore
You spoke the words out of my head.
Mike Wright
Thank you.
Jason Moore
So Jonathan Stewart is definitely. I think Jonathan Stewart is being a little undervalued recently. Recently, I've seen him dropping to where you can get him. And what is the potential upside of Jonathan Stewart?
Mike Wright
The upside of Jonathan Stewart to Me, is an RB1 Health. Upside.
Andy Holloway
Health is an upside. Right. That would be the upside of healthy.
Mike Wright
And the questions I've, when I get them, of why are you so high on Jonathan Stewart? And I'm like, look at the last four games. And then they say, well, that's a small sample size. Yeah, but that's when D'Angelo Williams was gone. Yeah, that's when Jonathan Stewart became the main running back. Kind of like this year where he's the main running back, he's all of.
Jason Moore
A sudden becoming one of the better values in the draft. So if you haven't drafted yet, keep your eye on him.
Andy Holloway
Okay. So speaking of D'Angelo Williams, this question ties into it. There are a lot of people out there right now who are going to be without Le'Veon Bell in weeks one and two. And if you are without him, you're lucky because then you have Le'Veon Bell. So Tim N. Austin wants to know he's in a 10 team standard. He has D'Angelo Williams, so he has the handcuff for Bell. His other running backs are also Frank Gore, Andre Ellington and Justin Forsett. So week one, who does he roll out there? I think that one kind of jumps off the page to me. It's not D'Angelo Williams.
Mike Wright
So, okay, so he. He's saying pick two guys.
Andy Holloway
He also has DeSean Jackson in his flex right now.
Jason Moore
Take the Sean Jackson out of your flex.
Andy Holloway
Well, you can consider. Basically he has Gore Ellington. Four set. Are those his three players?
Jason Moore
So the question is really what it comes down to because I think we're in complete agreement that four set and Gore are in your lineup. So it's a question of Ellington or.
Andy Holloway
D. Jackson flex position.
Jason Moore
Ellington vs. D. Jackson. The flex I prefer. I think both of these guys are, boom. Both of these guys are bust. I prefer a guy that I know is going to get the ball in the running back position. So I would go Ellington.
Mike Wright
I completely agree. And you want to talk about a guy who like, was saying, oh, Doug Martin looks very good in preseason. Ellington has looked great in preseason.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So.
Andy Holloway
And he catches passes, so he gives you a PPR value.
Mike Wright
We don't know what the workload split is going to be still to this point. David Johnson didn't. Didn't close the gap.
Jason Moore
Who?
D
David Johnson.
Mike Wright
I apologize. Thank you. He didn't close the gap against the Raiders, although he had a spectacular performance through the air. So. And the reports are now that Chris Johnson is going to play this week. So if Chris Johnson's playing Week 4, Chris Johnson's playing for his job.
Jason Moore
And he's going to be because he's playing against a bunch of people that are about to get cut because it's week four. And he better.
Mike Wright
My point in saying that is, is Chris Johnson could easily get cut and that'll clear up this system. We know that it's Ellington and David Johnson, but at least to start the year, Ellington is going to get his probably close to 20 touches a game.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's go ahead. And this is a question I wanted to ask. I will ask Chris Harris later. Another one of those difficult to figure out situations, but this one comes in from Michael in Calgary.
Mike Wright
Bonjour.
Andy Holloway
There you go. I'm hearing Joseph Randall isn't looking too hot behind McFadden right now. So week one, flex spot decision. Joseph Randall, Andre Johnson, Amir Abdullah.
Jason Moore
Week one, Abdullah, Andre Johnson, Joseph Randall.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. The Lions play the Chargers if that makes a difference. And the Colts play the Bills for Andre and then Joseph Randle and the Cowboys play the Giants.
Jason Moore
I think I would go Joseph Randall because I don't think the Giants defense is looking good. He's going to get the first touches before McFadden is still my belief, which means he's going to have the opportunity to run in a. In a good position. You're going to have a strong offensive line against a weak defensive line, which should open up some good running lanes. And I think that that's where. That's the matchup. I would. I would go with.
Mike Wright
You're going to want to monitor Joy Bell's health because, yes, he's.
Andy Holloway
He's off the pup, Jic.
Mike Wright
He's off the PUP right now, but it's not a guarantee that he's ready for week one if he's not ready. It's Amir Abdullah if he is ready. I'm going to play somebody against the Giants defense that gave up a lot of fantasy points to running back.
Andy Holloway
So that'll be Randall.
Mike Wright
That is correct.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's take a second here and talk about daily Fantasy Football at FanDuel. Okay. You guys have heard us talk about it before. FanDuel's week one games. They're almost here. Yeah, they are almost here. And it is super exciting because we all know. Well, not Jason, but most of us know the excitement of playing on a championship weekend in fantasy football.
Mike Wright
All or nothing.
Andy Holloway
But that's what you get every single week when you play on FanDuel. And that's why we love FanDuel. They are the leader in one day fantasy sports. They got more winners and more payouts than anybody else in the entire industry. I think $75 million gets paid out a week, which means people are having fun.
Jason Moore
Yeah. If you're a winner, you're playing on FanDuel.
Andy Holloway
And if you haven't heard of it, we talk daily fantasy. We're gonna have a segment every single week with Chris Meaney from the Fantasy sports network talking FanDuel strategies. Guys, to start, you can go on to FanDuel.com entry fees start at just a buck.
Mike Wright
And that's a great point, is it's a buck. There's very low risk. Say you're a little hesitant to get in these huge cash tournaments which are there. If you want to get in if you want to start small, go ahead. You can start for a buck.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I would say that it's one of the more fun changes in fantasy recently is it's a new type of game where it is you can choose any guy that you want and build your roster. And yeah, it's a ton of fun. If you like it as much as we do, send us some messages on Twitter. Show us who your first week one lineup is. And the cool thing is heffballers. Yesffballers. You can actually go to fanduel.com and click on the microphone in the upper right hand corner and use our code ballers. Ballers. And sign up now. And for new users, for every dollar that you deposit, FanDuel will actually match it up to $200.
Andy Holloway
Did you say $100? Two.
Jason Moore
I doubled it. $200. That gets earned as you play. That's a bonus of up to $200 for the promo code ballers. Ballers. So don't forget to use the code ballers. Go to FanDuel.com where every day is a new season. That's F A N d u e l.com and sign up today.
Andy Holloway
All right. You know what's been really cool in draft season is speaking of Twitter is there have been a number of tweets, including pictures of people at the draft with their double stuffed Oreos. You're doing it right, and it is awesome. Like, I'm so excited when I see that because I know these people are listening. I know they're killing their drafts and some of them are holding up Roy, hello. Placards for us, which I know when he was drafted in our league, it was loud.
Mike Wright
It was triumphant.
Andy Holloway
It was triumphant. So if you have drafted and you've brought some double stuffed or you've had a good time at your job, tweet those pictures to us. We love to see them. It's very rewarding for us. You know, we're here every week because we love interacting with you guys. I mean, that's basically. We don't do this to talk into a wall.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And. And we really do.
Andy Holloway
We maybe Mike does.
Jason Moore
We talk outside of this show how we can better our listeners to championships. Because I think that that's really. We try to entertain. We try to be high quality. Bringing out the toot toot horn here. But what our real focus is.
Andy Holloway
It's been a while.
Jason Moore
Yeah. But what our real focus is is we want our listeners to. To win. We want you guys to be winners. So. So that's that's why we do this. That's why we do mailbag shows and answer questions. So.
Andy Holloway
All right, so this question is a week one start question and it is a good one, a very good one. Brandon Cooks at Arizona or Devonte Adams at Chicago in week one? Now, here's the caveat. His opponent has Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. So talk a little bit about if that impacts your decision at all in a good or positive, a good way or bad.
Jason Moore
Was it Cooks and Adams?
Andy Holloway
It is. Brandon Cooks at Arizona or Devonte Adams at Chicago?
Jason Moore
Oh, I definitely take Devonte Adams at Chicago. I like playing a wide receiver against a quarterback that the other guy has because every single time that that play gets made, I get more points than the quarterback.
Andy Holloway
In many leagues.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I guess in standard scoring and in most variations of that scoring, when those things happen, I get more points for my wide receiver. Plus, I. I think the matchup is way better. I mean, give me devonte Adams against Chicago all day.
Mike Wright
Yeah. The concern for Brandon Cooks, who looks like a rising talent in the NFL, is he going to get Patrick Peterson the Patrick Peterson treatment? They haven't shadowed him every single game, but they did start doing it some more. I guess another question is, which Patrick Peterson is going to show up? Diabetes, the guy who got burned last year, or the $70 million cornerback?
Andy Holloway
I saw video of Amari Cooper torching Patrick Peterson. He did in this last preseason game. And it was amazing the amount of Twitter responses. That said we don't understand how Patrick Peterson has entered into the discussion as an elite. Like he's a four time Pro Bowler, but I just don't think he's elite. We're out. We're out here in Phoenix. He doesn't seem elite, but he did struggle with some health issues last year that we didn't know about until the end of the year. So we're curious about that. I'm with you. I probably go Adams in that situation.
Mike Wright
I go Adams.
Andy Holloway
It's a tough call. It's a tough call. All right, so this is a question about reaching on injured players. Okay. Andrew in Montreal.
Mike Wright
Bond. Wait. Hello.
Andy Holloway
There you go. I like that you thought through that one. Hey, guys.
Jason Moore
So rare, Mike.
Andy Holloway
Great podcast. I listen to you guys every day. Quick question. In an eight team league, would you reach for an injured player like Foster or Gurley because the league isn't very deep?
Jason Moore
I would say that the players you reach for in an eight team league are only the players who are gigantic difference makers. So your average injured player out there is not. He's not a guy. There's not many guys injured right now that are going to come back and make a huge difference. Arian Foster is one such guy. So I would gladly reach for a guy that can come back and be a top five type running back when he gets back. Todd Gurley, I mean, yeah, I don't know what a reach would be. I would like to have him in an eight team league because it's possible. He's really good. We saw some good things from the, you know, the Rams as far as their formation and looking like they were really all about the run this year. Not. I'm not so high on Gurley, but I would reach for Arian in an eight team lead.
Mike Wright
So where, where are we talking about reaching for? Airing in eight team. So because in a normal draft, 12 team, I'm willing to, I'm willing to go five, six at this point now with all the positive news, I'm going to take the gamble even if it burns me for. And he stays out the entire year. But in an eight, man, I mean your, your talent is still much deeper in the fifth round.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I would, I would probably go sixth round because, you know, that's like.
Mike Wright
I can get with that.
Andy Holloway
So if you've been on our website, you know, we have an ultimate draft report available to listeners of the show where we go through and we look at your draft draft and we tell you your strengths, your weaknesses and overall thoughts on the team and kind of an in season plan things. We think you can improve on things, some strategies that you can do. And it's been cool to see people actually put those into play. Like somebody texted me or tweeted me. So they pulled off one of the deals that we had recommended and it worked out for them and they ended up getting a better player. But when you look at those, I'm almost always happy with these teams that are ending up with Arian Foster in these drafts. Is what my point was, is because he's coming at a value and he represents top five talent. If you've heard me talk before the injury for like six months, Arian Foster was my guy.
Jason Moore
The cause of the injury really was you talking him up.
Andy Holloway
He was the cause of the fantasy. Yeah, he was the beginning. The beginning of the ridiculous lore.
Jason Moore
Well, think about it this way, right? Le'Veon Bell. Le'Veon Bell was originally suspended four games and people were still talking about him.
Andy Holloway
Three games.
Jason Moore
Three games. And it was, you know, he was still a top three pick in a lot of leagues because he's that good? Well, Aaron was your number one guy and now there's rumors that Arian's gonna miss like four games. So you're talking, you know, second round, third round.
Mike Wright
That's a good point. There's the variable of still the unknown. We don't know for sure that it's four weeks. So you're taking the, the risk that it could be longer or he could reheart his precious groin.
Andy Holloway
I, I traded for him. I'm taking the chance.
Jason Moore
Well, you traded nothing for him and that upsets me.
Andy Holloway
We won't, we won't talk about that. All right, this is a keeper question from John in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Jason Moore
Hi, John.
Andy Holloway
This is a great one. Lamar Miller with an 8th rounder or Mark Ingram with a 13th rounder.
Jason Moore
Oh, man, you really, I wanted to.
Andy Holloway
Have you fill in the blank.
Mike Wright
I was, I was going to go.
Andy Holloway
11 and that would have put it even for you. So is Ingram the guy now for you, Mike?
Mike Wright
Yeah. Yep. Man. Because I like Lamar, I like Lamar Miller so much and especially with the preseason, what they're doing with his snaps. If you, if you looked at the snap count of the last Dolphins preseason game, I think it was like 22 of 24.
Jason Moore
It was sexy.
Mike Wright
First team reps were Lamar Miller and.
Jason Moore
Not only was he on the field, but they were using him in every important way he was going out for. If he wasn't getting the ball, he was running to catch the ball. So I'm going to go Lamar Miller, I think he's going to be a.
Andy Holloway
Oftentimes in those situations where they're both very late round picks, I'm not as concerned. I mean, the value difference between a 2 and a 5 is so much different than between 8 and 13. And so I will generally go with the better player if you get past the seventh or eighth round. And so for me, it's Lamar Miller as well.
Mike Wright
Lamar.
Andy Holloway
All right, this is a late round flyer question from Wookie of the year in Kentucky. If you're taking a late round flyer today, would you prefer to take Coleman out of New Orleans or Hankerson in Atlanta?
Mike Wright
Coleman. Sorry, that was, Sorry if that was too easy. But Coleman, because it's not based on injury, he's. He's already getting the first team reps. Colston's coming into the slot for when they go 3 wide. Leonard Hankerson in Atlanta could be spectacular. Spectacular. But right now Roddy White will be back from his elbow surgery. Roddy's. The news is that he's going to have to have his knee drained frequently throughout the year. So Hankerson is not a bad guy to. He's not a bad guy, fellas.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
He's also Fred Jackson.
Jason Moore
He helps ladies across the street.
Mike Wright
He's also not a bad player to have on your roster for just in case. But that's what he. That's all he is right now is. He is a just in case.
Andy Holloway
A jic.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Where I think Coleman. We haven't seen it yet, but the opportunity is already in front of him. The pastures are wide open and green.
Andy Holloway
And that's why Eileen Coleman as well. Mike has explained that with much enthusiasm.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Well done.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I agree completely. The only question is whether or not it is a foregone conclusion that Roddy White is going to be back and is ready because, you know, we just haven't seen it so. Because otherwise, Leonard Hankerson is also right there.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And he could really put up a good season and not. And is not being drafted.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Neither of them. Coleman's being drafted at the end of a lot of drafts. I have people asking me that. But Jacob, in another Canada question. It's just Canada, so you have to choose your language.
Mike Wright
Konnichiwa.
Andy Holloway
That's nailed it. Nailed it. Book it. Book it. Hello, gents. Here's a trade question, guys. So get ready to write this one down.
Jason Moore
Oh, goodness.
Andy Holloway
I have been offered Alshon Jeffrey Carson Palmer and Jonathan Stewart 4 Antonio Brown and Golden Tate. Should I accept this offer?
Mike Wright
Oh, my goodness. So Alshon Palmer, J. Stu for Antonio Brown and Golden Tate, you pretty much.
Jason Moore
Take Palmer a little bit out of the equation.
Mike Wright
Yes, I agree.
Jason Moore
Look, wide receiver and running back versus two wide receivers who. I like the all Sean Palmer and Stewart side of it.
Mike Wright
I personally do to the. The. This is a trade, so I imagine it needs to be answered relatively quickly because this. This calf injury.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's what I was wondering.
Mike Wright
The calf injuries concerns are starting to grow. The. And these are just subjective reports, so understand these are subjective. But people. The news reporters are saying that Fox looked a little uncomfortable when he was talking about the injury, which is not something you want to hear.
Andy Holloway
He had some bad bacon.
Mike Wright
It's possible. That's. That's very possible. No, that's.
Andy Holloway
This.
Mike Wright
Is there bad bacon?
Andy Holloway
No, that was a trick question. It's only fine.
Jason Moore
The only bad bacon is uncooked bacon. And I can speak to that from a camping trip.
Andy Holloway
Really?
Mike Wright
Hold on, hold on. You ate raw bacon?
Jason Moore
I did not, but my friend did and I woke up. You know, those little. So at the bottom of A tent. There's those little tiny windows that are like on the bottom for like a heater. I woke up with my friend laying on his stomach on the floor with his head right out of the. Literally popping out of that little hole on the side, throwing up into the ground. That is an inch from his face. Like he's just throwing up straight onto the ground. And that was from Rob Bacon. So there's that. Bacon is the answer to that pro.
Mike Wright
Tip from the fantasy footballers. Cook your meat.
Andy Holloway
Cook your meat. All right, Nick in New York City.
Jason Moore
New York City. There it is.
Andy Holloway
I'm on the.
Mike Wright
I'm going to take the Alshawn side.
Andy Holloway
Alright, I'm gonna introduce this guy one more time.
Jason Moore
Wait, you know one, one thing to say because we are gonna roll it out. We've, we've been, you know, when it comes to trade questions and in, in season questions, a lot of times it's hard to get your questions answered. We're gonna try to roll out something where you can get your question answered in like two hours for those emergencies. Emergency questions.
Mike Wright
Like an emergency. You just ate raw bacon.
Jason Moore
That would be a huge.
Andy Holloway
If you just ate raw bacon. You can now contact us within two hours and we'll answer it directly.
Mike Wright
From the fantasy footballers, I would recommend 911 but if you want to ask.
Jason Moore
Us, go to the fantasy football.
Mike Wright
Some experience with Rob Bacon. Apparently true. We've got everything.
Andy Holloway
We've got everything you could want in a show. Nick in New York City.
Jason Moore
New York City.
Andy Holloway
Hey, guys. In reaper. My. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder who that.
Jason Moore
Not even a guy.
Mike Wright
No idea.
Andy Holloway
I'm just a reaper. That's such a weird word. My draft is this weekend and the rules have been changed in my league, which makes absolutely no sense. But he can't do anything about it.
Mike Wright
That sucks.
Andy Holloway
Quarterbacks now receive full yardage points. So 100 yards passing is 10 points.
Mike Wright
So from 25 down.
Andy Holloway
So that is 1 per 10 instead of 1 per 25. Mike is grimacing that. Send that grimace to Your commissioner quarterback TDs are also six points. So how does he approach this draft now? He wanted to stream quarterbacks this year and now he doesn't know if it's a viable option. And I'm with you, buddy. I don't know if that's viable anymore.
Jason Moore
Well, what you need to look up and what I'm looking up now because I don't know off the top of my head is the, the disparity between say large, the 1st and the 12th guy in passing yards. So Ryan Tannehill and I'm sorry, Joe Flacco last year was number 12 at 3,900 yards and number one was 4,900 yards, which would be a thousand points difference.
Mike Wright
100.
Jason Moore
Oh, yes, you're right. It's not a point per 100 points difference, which makes a little bit of a difference.
Mike Wright
But it's still matchups to me and honestly I wouldn't be overly concerned with it. I think maybe Rogers and Luck, they get a bit of a bump up.
Andy Holloway
But I'm still position scarcity argument exists. The exact same. That doesn't change.
Mike Wright
I can still take a late round guy like Tannehill. Bradford, man, get Bradford.
Andy Holloway
Here's where it does change. Guys that don't throw for yards, guys that you used to look for that were because not only do you have six points for passing touchdown, but now if you don't throw for yards, if you're a Russell Wilson, you have to take a bump down. Russell Wilson.
Jason Moore
Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers. Right. He's our number one. But he was seventh last year in yards. He's efficient. He's not like the Drew Brees that's going to be throwing for 5,000. He threw for 4,300. So it actually makes that position scarcity even closer together because some of the higher passing guys aren't the high touchdown guys. So I agree. I think you can stream this and.
Mike Wright
Something that we actually didn't talk about in our. When we were reviewing the Philly game, Philadelphia went for two on their first two touchdowns. Now it was Tim Tebow in there who went for it and he failed miserably both times.
Andy Holloway
The first time was not miserably. First time I thought he almost got in. He ran straight into the back of his pile and he was, he was about a foot away. So his second time he almost threw a pick two.
Mike Wright
So he failed and then failed miserably. And then after the third touchdown, they shanked the extra point.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So what it says to me, at least at the beginning, is that which we've talked about this before, Kelly's going to be willing to go for two.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And if you get, if you get the two points like you should, Sam Bradford could put up a nice little cushion. Yeah. Of maybe gets two to four extra points a week, which is fantastic.
Andy Holloway
So there are a number of kind of difficult to figure out fantasy situations still kind of being figured out right now. We don't know the answer to all those. So let's go ahead and talk to one of our friends here, Chris Harris.
Jason Moore
You Talking to me.
Andy Holloway
The fantasy footballers are excited to welcome in a friend of the show yet again. From harrisfootball.com and the Harris Football Podcast, it's Christopher Harris. How you doing, Chris?
D
Doing so well and so happy to be back. You guys are a total blast. And you're going to be on my show, I think right before, right after week one, I can't remember, but sometime early September.
Andy Holloway
Super excited. Yeah. Thanks for coming on. We love talking to you. And first, I just want to bring this kind of rumor.
Mike Wright
This is, this is something that comes up kind of frequently on our show. Now we, I think we've gotten to some, some dirt and a mystery that we think needs examination.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we have dubbed Fred Jackson the depth chart assassin and we're trying to put the pieces together here because it seems like where he goes, he plays okay. So Jason was super disappointed with the cut. It was super surprising to us. But it seems like he finds his way to the top here. So now rumors about him going to Seattle and is Marshawn lynch, should he be afraid?
D
Well, I'm going to say no, but I hope not. I think it's funny that you say Fred Jackson, wherever he goes, he's only been on one team. Unless you're talking about like NFL Europa total.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I guess. I mean, whoever comes in, they just can't pass him. I mean, and that's why they cut him. They just wanted to give another guy a chance.
D
Right. LaShawn McCoy, you need to, you need some. That money wasn't enough.
Andy Holloway
You need some.
D
Sure, sure that you.
Mike Wright
Well, it's not enough when Fred Jackson's doing his sneaky stuff.
Andy Holloway
You know, we remembered Marshawn was back in Buffalo. Obviously that's kind of probably how these two got connected and him heading back to Seattle. But you know, lynch, lynch was banged up back at Buffalo.
D
Right. And like, so no, I mean, I would think this is much more of an insurance policy than anything else. Obviously, anything can happen. But no, I'm not lowering lynch in my ranks. You know, I looked at Robert Turbin plus Kristen Michael and I assigned that workload to Fred Jackson. And of course Fred Jackson's, even at 34, is probably a better player than either one of those guys. But I think the Seahawks are smart enough to know that they can't be given 34 year old Fred Jackson a huge workload relative to Marshawn lynch, who last time we saw an NFL game that mattered was the best running back on the planet. But are you guys lowering lynch at all in your ranks?
Andy Holloway
No, no, we're just having fun with it. I'm not. At least I think it's better for Seattle, the actual team that Fred Jackson's there. I think that's, you know, the veteran presence and he has a better player, just like you said. But I'm not lowering Lynch. Yeah, but I was having fun with it. So let's go ahead and talk about. I'm going to give you three wide receiver situations. Three or four. And I want to know who you kind of see at the top of some of these battles. Okay, so the first one I want to ask you is which, which Rams wide receiver are you drafting highest right now?
D
Brian Quick. And really he's the only one who I'm considering drafting. Kenny Britt for me is just not, you know, all the physical ability is there. He's a former first round NFL pick and I just don't think he's got the head for it. I think he's a total knucklehead and Brian Quick will come at a decent value. I mean, it's funny, I was like totally throwing cold water all over the fantasy stock of Brian Quick when he had his couple of good games in a row last year because it was Austin Davis and there was just no chance it was going to continue. It didn't. Of course then he got hurt and there is questions about that shoulder. He could get re injured. But for where you have to take him, I am interested in actually in owning Brian Quick. And you know, Kenny Britt can go punt as far as I'm concerned.
Mike Wright
So for breaking down the film of the Rams, what do you, what do you think of Nick Foles right now?
D
Oh, so bad. So freaking bad. Which is why, of course, hopefully you're not going to have to use either one of those guys. No, he's, he's terrible. And you know, I sort of made my bones on Philly radio a couple years ago when Foles was having his big year saying, guys, this is a mirage. It is not going to last. I'm watching these. I mean, obviously everyone in Philly was watching too, but they were watching with green tinted glasses. He was a disaster. Even when he had two interceptions and 27 touchdowns. There's a reason why the Eagles got rid of him, you know, that he was bad and he's been just so bad in the preseason.
Jason Moore
Speaking Mike's language over here, he's saying that for, for a while as well. So I want to know about the Browns because there's, there's a bet that Andy and Mike have in their wide receiver course. So who do you like there at the Browns? Are you a believer?
Andy Holloway
We use the word like very liberally in these situations. But if you have gun to your head, you know, I mean we haven't.
D
Seen him play, but it would still be Dwayne Bowe. Yeah, you know, I don't have him too far ahead of Brian Hartline though. You know, I actually that was the bet.
Andy Holloway
That was the bet we made was Heartline Bow.
D
Yeah. I mean Heartline's a fine player. Bo is a different sort of athlete. I mean, if he's anything like what he was in Kansas City, what he does best that Brian Hartline is never going to do is jump. No, he's just overrated. He's an insane leaper. And so, you know, there's just a lot of red zone value to that. You wouldn't have known it from the Chiefs from with Alex Smith, but you know, there are touchdowns probably there for Dwayne Bowe. I wouldn't be shocked honestly, if it's like touchdowns go to Bow and yardage goes to Heartline and neither one is any good at all.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah. Feeling we have to sustain with the.
Mike Wright
Wide receivers moving to the Arizona Cardinals. We know Michael Floyd is still sidelined, but there's there the latest thing I was reading was there's hope he'll be back week one. But with Fitzgerald, Smokey, John Brown, Floyd. Are you taking anybody from that roster?
D
Yeah, John Brown, he's the one I want. He was my number one flag player for this year, I believe, you know, especially, you know, flag players for me are about guys I'm planting my flag on in terms of value, you know, where you can get them. And all three of those car. Well, really Floyd's draft stock has fallen off. But all three of them are in the neighborhood, you know, same neighborhood. And in that neighborhood I've much, much rather have Brown. You know, you're not getting a consistent producer. He's probably more of a desean Jackson, Ty Hilton. That's his upside to be a, you know, boomer bust kind of guy. But you don't have to start him for where you're going to take him. You don't have to start him. I'm a believer. I think the Ty Hilton analog is facile, but in this case totally, totally accurate. You know, super deep burner guys who don't have any size and it kind of doesn't seem to matter because corners are scared to death of them.
Mike Wright
And it just a quick follow up because We're Arizona fans, as you know. What have you thought of Nelson? Just have. Do you see any potential there for Nelson to break out?
D
I have to be honest that the most I've seen of him was this past game and I don't think that's the fit the tape that he would want me to see.
Andy Holloway
We agree with that one. Yeah, he's got a couple deep passes. He reminds me a little bit about, you know, what John Brown looked like at the beginning of the preseason last year where they took some shots with him. So one, one situation that, you know, people have been dealing with is the Jordy Nelson out. Randall Cobb fears obviously. Now Cobb reports this morning say very likely to be back week one. But you know, we know Devonte Adams is worth owning and could have a really good year. But from the Janus Montgomery side of things, where are you leaning from what you see? Because we like Montgomery over here.
D
Yeah, I have them ranked side by side still because I'm still waiting for some sort of clarity. I don't ever want to believe the reports coming out of camp because it's just people talking and it doesn't mean anything. And you know, the Cobb injury was bad primarily because it was Cobb and we were super freaked out that, you know, he third play of the game or whatever, he hurt his shoulder, you know, secondarily it was bad because I wanted to see who was going to shine between Janice and Montgomery. Montgomery played those first few snaps and Janice didn't. But I don't know if that was like an indication of the depth chart. And once Cobb was out, they both were in there. Plus they weren't even catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. You know, in terms of skills, the guy who I wish would win it would be Janice because I find him to be a little bit more like Jordy. He's got the outside size, he has better deep speed. He's not Jordy, he's not experience. He's not going to win at all three levels the way Jordy does. But you know, and plus the fact that he hasn't taken this job just by the neck and kept it means he's maybe just not ready. Montgomery from the very beginning was, was termed as kind of a rocked up Randall Cobb. You know, very good athlete, smart kid, was instantly going to be able to be plugged in as an offensive weapon the way he was at Stanford, but maybe not super imposing. And so if he winds up being the guy, you know, I'm going to have, I'm going to roster him, you know, I probably both can be rostered in all leagues right now. I think he has a lower ceiling than Janice would if Janice had a clue. But it sounds like you guys think, you know, a little bit more of Montgomery than I do.
Andy Holloway
We were kind of marveling at, you know, the way things work out for certain players in the draft. You know, so much of a career is not just, you know, where you go on the draft, but where you go as a team. And just it's an amazing thing that Montgomery can get drafted in the third round, be looking at Aaron Rodgers as a, as a quarterback and then have the jordy injury and have the opportunity that he has. I mean, and so we'll see if he runs away with it. Where, where do you have Adams though? What, what's his upside to you?
D
I mean he's, he has so much upside. Did. I think we may have talked about Adams at some point. Maybe on my show we talked about him, but I have him 17among wide receivers. I have him really high. But obviously I admit the, the chasm of his downside is, you know, he could just disappear. We don't know. I thought he was okay last year. There's some things he did. I thought he was always where he was supposed to be route running wise. He's not a super athlete. He's not going to have super size, but he was good enough. He had hands problems for sure. And you know, who knows why Aaron Rodgers keeps talking him up so much, but he does. I guess I've taken the bait. Is 17 way too high for you guys?
Mike Wright
No, we've not at all.
Jason Moore
Our consensus ranking has him at 19, so we're.
Andy Holloway
I took him on Sunday night in one of our big leagues and I took him right after Jeremy Macklin. It's a, you know, a three keeper league, but I took him in the second round and I'm excited about the upside. I mean there's, there's such an unknown there, but that, you know, with when Aaron Rodgers is mixed in, that is exciting.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it is.
D
And plus, I mean, it's not even that, you know, Randall Cobb I think might be the safest player in fantasy this year as long as he stays healthy. So all props to Randall Cobb, but he's going to play out of the slot and out of the backfield. I mean, the out. The number one outside threat almost has to be Devontae Adams. That's a huge role.
Mike Wright
So we're going to move to running backs and we'll speed these up a little bit for you. The Cowboys situation. Randall got the start, but there's. And we know you like to ignore camp news, but there's. There's a building buzz. Somehow, some way, Darren McFadden has managed to build a buzz. What are your thoughts right now of the Cowboy situation?
D
It's. Come on. Really? Fadden?
Mike Wright
Yeah, really.
D
Joseph Randle's being overdrafted by a million. Don't get me wrong. I mean, taking him in the second or third round is criminal insane. But if I'm betting between those guys, I'll bet on Randall because the other one's Darren McFadden. But, I mean, I think there's a chance the leading rusher of the Cowboys still isn't on that roster. You know, I. It's not going to be McFadden. I just. Maybe it will be. I'll eat these words, but, boy, it.
Andy Holloway
Sure doesn't seem like it should be, but. Yeah, but they just are not bringing anybody else in yet, and we've been kind of speculating on that for a while. So what about the Patriots running back situation with Blunt missing the first game not looking superb? You know, we know that it's a murky third down situation. I mean, is there just anybody you can grab onto there or are you just as dumbfounded as we are?
D
Trash bag central for Legare Blunt, he is just. He's garbage. Not a good football player. He's got size and, you know, he's a total front runner when they're up 30, he's a. He's a dominant player. I mean, he will rack up 180 yards when they're up 30, but they, you know, get to a third and two. I just happen to be a Patriots fan. You may notice they get to third and two like every. Blunt's getting stuffed. I don't have the number in front of me, but there's some crazy number of times he's gotten a handoff from the three yard line and he scored like six times. He's just.
Andy Holloway
I remember watching him and people talk about him as a goal lineback and just saying, what is your definition of a goal lineback? Don't they have to cross the goal.
Mike Wright
Line at the goal line?
Andy Holloway
Just being big gets you a reputation as a goal lineback for years.
Jason Moore
Well, in his defense, I think he's averaged one touchdown per game over the last two seasons with the Patriots.
Mike Wright
So that's.
Jason Moore
I would say that's a, you know, a goal line type of guy.
Andy Holloway
But I just saw the same thing Chris saw.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I see it on film. I Want to know who, if you have to pick one, only one for the whole year, it's best ball. The pass catching back for the Patriots.
D
Is who you know, Brandon Bolden.
Jason Moore
All right.
Mike Wright
That, yeah, yeah. That's kind of where we've been leaning because.
D
Because that's the person who's been there for the longest and he's the one who's actually played. So there's trust there that he's not going to completely screwed up, get Brady killed, you know, drop a million balls. James White doesn't seem to be able to put it together. He looks great when he's not in pads. You know, he's a really good athlete. And you know what, Dion Lewis, I'm not. Yeah, sorry.
Mike Wright
And so we're a year past the snooze gate up there for Jonas Gray and we think he's going to start in week one. Any chance that he wrestles that starting big down back roll away from legarrett?
D
Yeah, definitely there's a chance. And that's what, you know, it's New England.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. This is going to be a chance.
D
Right. We have to go back to the pre Ben Jarvis Green Ellis days for people to remember what it was like to play fantasy with the Kevin Fox of the world and the Lawrence Moronis of the world. You know, six or seven years ago. Every single week it would be different and I think we have to be prepared for that possibility. Even if Jonas Gray sets another record, there's a chance he gets benched the next week because, you know, he might be a little bit of a knucklehead. I, I don't want to use that backfield. I know people get tempted by blunt. I'm not using them.
Andy Holloway
I was kind of. You bring up Kevin Falk. When I, when I thought about Fred Jackson and the possibility of him signing over in New England and being used kind of all over the place, I, I kind of hoped to see what they would do with Fred Jackson, but it doesn't look like that's going to materialize, so. Alright, that's about all the time we have here. Thanks so much, Chris for coming on the show yet again. We'll keep doing this.
