Jason Moore
I'm just gonna keep saying it throughout the whole show.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
If we keep doing these Saturday shows all the time.
Mike Wright
No, no, that's why I'm trying to emphasize.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
This is.
Mike Wright
They need to be bon. It's a bonus episode that happens to have happened in back to back weeks.
Andy Holloway
Yep, there you go.
Mike Wright
Not a pattern at all.
Andy Holloway
Next week, Saturday, people are gonna wake up and go, where am I?
Mike Wright
Oh, wait, that's what I.
Andy Holloway
Is there a show?
Mike Wright
Hey.
Jason Moore
So sweaty.
Andy Holloway
What's your quick question?
Mike Wright
Quick question for the day. How do you guys approach drafting a defense?
Jason Moore
Yeah, so, yeah, no, that's good thing to talk about. There's actually been a lot of questions that I'm having to filter people asking about drafting a defense. I don't really care that much when I'm drafting my defense because I stream them throughout the entire year. What I will look for is what I see as the best Week 1 matchup.
Mike Wright
That's how I draft them.
Andy Holloway
Me too. We got already.
Jason Moore
And in whatever best matchup is left, that's what I'll go with.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
Because it's draft season, then if the question is being asked right now, the question isn't, you know, who do we get? Week. Whatever. We know the week one schedule. Who are you looking to draft?
Jason Moore
I don't know. The week.
Andy Holloway
Right. And maybe that's a little too hard to put us.
Mike Wright
Way to set us up there, Jason.
Andy Holloway
Well, then I've got the answer while you two do research. So these two guys, the problem is they're both good Ds and so they're going to be drafted a little bit earlier. But I think they're worth. And by a little bit earlier, I mean the second to last round, when people start doing it, these will be near the top. But the jets and the Panthers are two teams that I really like this year. You know, when we try to stream quarterbacks we try to get one that we could play the whole year. So grabbing a good D is not a bad thing. And those two Ds play great week one matchups. I forget who it is. I think it's the Browns jets.
Jason Moore
And the Browns jets are at home.
Mike Wright
And I think.
Jason Moore
Who is your other team? The Panthers.
Andy Holloway
Panthers. That's my favorite. I think it's the Panthers.
Mike Wright
Panthers, we know are a good defense, I'll tell you.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Jason Moore
They're going to go early, but the, the third team I'll edit that is the Bengals because they play the Raiders.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, those three. Yeah.
Mike Wright
The only thing I'll add to the equation is kind of a general understanding of how the defenses work year to year. Defense is one of the least consistent positions to predict because everybody looks at this strength of schedule before the season begins and they, ah, this guy plays that team. This day. That changes so much. I mean, it's very, very rare when a defense repeats.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I don't even know if it's happened in the last 10 years and if it has, it's been, you know, Seattle's in the top five for like two years in a row. But otherwise these defenses, they fluctuate all over the place. You got teams that get more interceptions and turnovers like the Bears, who aren't that great of a defense, but they have a great year. I mean, I'm just telling you from a streaming strategy perspective, it. You look for the good Week 1 matchup, but honestly, you're going to learn that about the work the first four or five weeks of the year and you. And then snatch them off the waiver wire.
Jason Moore
You saw it with Seattle where everyone took him very early for defenses. Last year, Bobby Wagner went out. They were not very good.
Mike Wright
No.
Jason Moore
For. Especially for Fantasy. He came back. They were great again. But that's what I mean, where one player on a defense can change the entire thing.
Mike Wright
Yeah, absolutely. If you want to get a hold of us on the website and send your own question into the show. Today is a mailbag show. So we're answering boom, boom questions from the Foot Clan from the listeners of this show. That's all we're doing.
Andy Holloway
Not all of the questions. Or we would have a 28 hour.
Mike Wright
Answering all of the questions.
Andy Holloway
No, you said we're answering all questions. That is all we're doing. But we're not answering all of the questions.
Mike Wright
This show is not going to be over until the next show on Tuesday.
Andy Holloway
Oh, man, that would take.
Mike Wright
Thank you for saving us, Jason. I would like to do something Today that isn't just recording the show. That being said, we are answering a bunch of questions on today's show. So if you have your own, we answer them on YouTube, we answer them on Twitter @TheFF Ballers. We answer them via email. Sometimes I answer them in my own head.
Jason Moore
Oh, I thought you were gonna say in blood.
Mike Wright
Sometimes in the morning when I take a shower and it's all misty on the.
Jason Moore
Don't talk about the shower again.
Mike Wright
I write the questions.
Jason Moore
Answer.
Mike Wright
I write the answers on the mirror. No one gets them, though.
Andy Holloway
I do. I had to because you set us up for failure.
Jason Moore
I tried to help you, Mike.
Andy Holloway
Thank you.
Mike Wright
Let's read a review.
Andy Holloway
Reviewasaurus Rex. This one comes in from Sharktopus King.
Jason Moore
Wait, I love the name.
Andy Holloway
That might be my favorite name of all time. On a review, Sharktopus King, they said there's a reason these guys are the number one fantasy football podcast. First off, they know their facts and stick to it. I'm a firm believer in making a case for a player and sticking to your guns. Like the Abdullah Express. Yes, believe it. Sorry, J. Bell. Second, these guys are clean and their jokes are funny. Not the ridiculous crude humor on some other podcasts. If you want to dominate your league and listen to this podcast, keep it up, guys.
Jason Moore
Right after coming off on a shower joke.
Andy Holloway
Right? I know the shower joke. We contradict our reviews immediately.
Jason Moore
We do try to.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that is actually very important to us, truly. Despite that joke, you two can leave.
Mike Wright
Us an itunes review if you happen to find this entertaining and. Or informative and. Or you enjoy the show.
Jason Moore
Sharktopus.
Mike Wright
Sharktopus.
Jason Moore
It's not just a shark to pussy.
Andy Holloway
Well, it's a ranks review. That is a shark to pussy. Books. King Rex.
Mike Wright
Okay, he's been drinking. Yeah. I mean, the thing is, you can be just like a Sharktopus and you can leave us a review. Go onto itunes. Search for us on itunes. Fantasy football. Click on us. Click the subscribe button. Leave us a review. We appreciate you following the show.
Jason Moore
It really helped the show. We really do appreciate that.
Andy Holloway
And on all the Android devices as well.
Mike Wright
Yep. Stitch, tune in, whatever you're listening to, podcast addict. Shout out to all the Android listeners. We know that there is a large, large amount of people listening on Android devices.
Andy Holloway
True.
Mike Wright
And we do love all of our listeners. That's why we do a show like this today. Coming out, answering Foot Clan questions. So that's what we're doing on the show today. You guys, anything? Got anything else going on?
Jason Moore
Just questions. I need to answer.
Mike Wright
Yeah. What about fanduel? Do you ever go on to fanduel?
Jason Moore
I do, actually. I went on to fanduel the other day because I was. I gotta get ready. I need to be ready for the NFL season.
Mike Wright
This is almost, you know, what's upon us.
Jason Moore
Do you know what is a week and a half away?
Andy Holloway
No, I don't.
Jason Moore
Training camp.
Andy Holloway
Oh, that's so good.
Jason Moore
It is coming. A week and a half, my friends. It is coming. Training camp leads to preseason leads to NFL leads to daily fantasy sports action on fanduel. If you're going to sign up, please use the code ballers. They match. You match your account up to $200 on your first deposit.

Mike Wright
Jason. Jason, why don't you tell everybody how they can send us a question?
Andy Holloway
Well, the best way and the only way.
Mike Wright
Not quite.
Andy Holloway
There's medium other ways. But seriously, go to the website thefantasyfootballers.com if you haven't been there recently. There's so much more content on there. You can see our YouTube videos and everything. You just click submit a question. There's a button right in the top. Click submit a question and it comes through.
Mike Wright
It sounds really easy.
Andy Holloway
It's so easy. It's even got like little fields you just fill in and it's super easy.
Mike Wright
That's cool.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's cool.
Mike Wright
You can also call us 302-464-TFFB if you want to leave us a voicemail question. We'll play some of those on the show. So let's get to one of those right now.
Ben
Hey, guys. Love the show. This is Ben calling from Packer country. I just found out from the guy who runs my league that my half point PPR 14 team league is going to be having three flex positions. So we're going to have a quarterback, running back, tight end, wide receiver, and then three flexes that can be either a wide receiver, a running back or a tight end. I'm just wondering how I should be approaching this. Should I be trying to get all wide receivers or all one position in those flex spots or should I just kind of move forward as if it were two wide receivers, two running backs? And a tight end.
Bo
Thanks.
Ben
Love the show.
Mike Wright
Thanks for the question. That's an interesting league format.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it is. It's kind of a man league in the sense that you got to 14 team adding positions. You got a lot of depth there. One of the things that is going to change here is normally we talk about this position scarcity and you know, how much the difference in a running back between the first guy that's starting and the last guy that's starting is a huge gap. So running backs are more important in this league. You've essentially only got 14 that have to start in both positions. So what you're going to look to after you've locked up your first guy, lock up a stud running back is you're going to look at total numbers, total value. It's not going to be a matter of should I get a running back or a wide receiver. You're always going to be picking whoever the best, most highest producing player is. I mean, it's that simple.
Mike Wright
It's already thinner as a 14 team league. And then you're basically tacking on two flex spots. Is that right?
Jason Moore
No, it's the same amount of players. Right. Because it's three flex. You only have to play one running back, one wide receiver.
Mike Wright
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Jason Moore
And it's like, it's just. It's the same as 2 Flex.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. I didn't. You get to pick limited roster.
Jason Moore
So I agree with Jason.
Mike Wright
It doesn't change much though.
Jason Moore
Well, it doesn't change much, but running backs aren't as hard to find. You don't have to rely on. You have to play too. So I'm going to grab a stud and then I'll still try and get another stud running back. But it doesn't, it's not as important.
Connor
Hey guys, this is Bo from Austin, Texas here. I have a question about draft strategy. I'm in a 12 team standard scoring redraft league and I have the 10th pick. I always like to take a running back in the first round, especially this year. It seems pretty thin at that position. But the rest of my league seems to have similar rationale. They always draft running backs early. So with the 10th pick, if people like Foster and Murray are gone at the running back position and I'm looking at Jeremy hill, Alfred Morris, C.J. anderson, people like that, should I take one of those running backs and then a wide receiver early in the second round or should I double down on quality wide receivers getting someone like, you know, Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson or a combination similar to that. So yeah, that's it guys. Thanks for the help.
Mike Wright
What do you say?
Jason Moore
If Jeremy Hill is there, then I don't mind that at all. I'd prefer not to take him in the first just because of ADP thinking he's going to come back. But knowing your league is a very important thing. Knowing your owners, if you feel like he won't make it back because the league is so running back heavy, then I will take him. And then I'll probably take a stud wide receiver. If they are all gone to Hill, it would like that tier of running back.
Mike Wright
You'd toss Hill in with the other guys you mentioned then Foster.
Jason Moore
Yeah, because I have Hill extremely high.
Mike Wright
So I figured.
Jason Moore
But if they're all gone, I don't mind you taking the two best possible wide receivers there and then then loading up on running backs at the in three, four, like three through six. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You have to know your breaking point and who those guys are. For me, I also add C.J. anderson in there. I would take C.J. anderson if he's there.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I would add him to the other guy you mentioned. Like Alfred Morris. No way. You don't want Alfred Morris over the number one or number two wide receiver. Yeah.
Mike Wright
It's tough because it's a 12 team league. So you know that wide, the running back position is going to thin out even quicker than a 10 team league. So I agree with these guys. I think I'd probably like to. I'd like to take a running back but if it is that breaking point, I'm not drafting Alfred Morris. I'll take. I'll take a top tier wide receiver. So thanks for the question. This one comes in from Josh C. From okc. How is the Lev Bell suspension not a bigger issue? Do you still take him ahead of Marshawn Lynch? Three games was much larger than the difference between in and out of the playoffs for a lot of fantasy teams last year. We don't disagree. I don't think.
Andy Holloway
I think that the majority quarter of your season. I think that the majority of podcast analysts do disagree. And I also actually think that even the way that we talk about Love Bell, they would disagree with what he's saying. Like why we might bump him down a spot or two, but we're still picking him. You know what? Third, fourth. Yeah.
Mike Wright
My point was I'm agreeing with his. His factor about the three games is a big difference.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I'm not necessarily agreeing about. I don't think I take him. I take him over Marshawn Lynch.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Me Too. Well, Marshawn lynch, you got to think a lot of these guys. Marshawn lynch could miss three games. He's older. There's. There's reason for that. But then you don't know when it is. You can't prepare for.
Mike Wright
Bell could get hurt too.
Andy Holloway
Well, yeah. I mean, I'm just saying the nice thing about the suspension is you can plan for that later in your draft and, and go after guys like Trey Mason or, you know, guys that you know are going to have a good start to the year that you.
Mike Wright
Chris Ivory.
Andy Holloway
Right. And plan for that. And then the other reason is because the point differential is good. Yeah. He was so good.
Jason Moore
He's a monster.
Andy Holloway
But is anybody worried about the injury? I don't hear that being talked.
Jason Moore
I was just going to bring up that we haven't even talked about Le'Veon Bell's knee. Yeah, I feel like he didn't play in the playoffs.
Andy Holloway
The suspension has actually become the only reason, the only question mark on him. It's the only thing being talked about. And I don't think it should be. And if. If his knee is still lingering and having a problem, I don't know that. That, that's just something that I feel like what we're acting like is if he wasn't suspended, he's just a clear cut. There's no question marks on him. But yeah, he missed the playoffs and he's still got a knee problem.
Jason Moore
There was a report on May 26 that his right knee was close to 100%, which led us to believe that two months ago that the injury was worse. But he should be full go. You would. You would think. And you know what? If he gets three games, he gets three more weeks to heal up his knee and then be a monster again.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I think it's just the talent. The reason he's staying at the top of boards is because he's just that good. He catches passes, especially until time. Yeah, exactly. But I. None of us have met number one, that's for sure. Mrs. Fantasy Football Guru from Minnesota has this question for us.
Jason Moore
School.
Mike Wright
Who should I keep for my fantasy football league? Here are her options. Jordy Nelson for a second, Julian Edelman for a third, Jimmy Graham for a fourth, Kelvin Benjamin for a fourth and Mike Wallace for a ninth. 12 team. PPR League 1 keeper.
Jason Moore
Do we know?
Mike Wright
She said who should she keep? So one keeper. Okay, this is interesting and I'm actually going to go a little outside the box for you guys. Maybe I'm taking Julian edelman in the third round. And that is my pick here in a 12 team PP. I'm not going to lose my second round pick and I'm going to go Julian Edelman.
Jason Moore
Not shown on the audio version of the podcast. My eyebrows.
Mike Wright
I know.
Jason Moore
Almost shot through my hairline.
Mike Wright
I know.
Jason Moore
Because I'm so baffled at taking Edelman in the third round.
Mike Wright
They almost got all the way up to your man bun.
Jason Moore
Almost. They would have been a lot sexier.
Mike Wright
So you're Jordy Nelson.
Jason Moore
I.
Andy Holloway
Yes, I definitely like.
Jason Moore
I'm gonna take Jordy.
Andy Holloway
I definitely like Jordy more in the second, but will you read me those again?
Jason Moore
Jordy Nelson in the second, Julian Edelman in the third, Jimmy Graham in the fourth, Kelvin Benjamin in the fourth, Mike Wallace in the ninth. So there's really only one value pick and that's. That's Mike Wallace.
Andy Holloway
No, that's not true. I think Jimmy Graham in the fourth is a value.
Jason Moore
Yeah, the gross value.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I know I'm higher on Jimmy than you two.
Mike Wright
You have him higher than the fourth.
Andy Holloway
Then the fourth round.
Mike Wright
I've never heard you say that, have you?
Jason Moore
Always say you're a third, so you're a third round.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I've got Jimmy ranked as my number two. I've got him ahead of Kelsey. So when you guys are willing to draft, you know, Kelsey's fourth for us. Yes, right.
Mike Wright
That's why it's not a value to me.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just saying he's worth discussing. You took Adam on the third, so I think Jimmy Graham is definitely worth discussing.
Jason Moore
Yes, I would agree with you, but.
Andy Holloway
But all that said, my pick would be Jordy as well.
Mike Wright
All right, there you go. Let's go ahead and grab another voicemail question here.
Bo
Hey, guys. Brandon from Virginia. So I got a question for you. I'm in a very baby league. It's an eight team, but we're all dedicated, so I think it makes it pretty competitive. Half point ppr. So my question is, when you're doing a draft with so little teams, it pretty much means that there are a lot more people getting studs. Pretty much every team has a good list of all stars. So I guess my question is, I know you guys don't like to take quarterbacks early, but when you're in an eight team and there's so much value, even after the draft, there's still a lot of good players left the waiver wire. Would you suggest maybe reaching in the second or third round for an Andrew Luck or an Aaron Rodgers, knowing you only have so many spots to fill and those guys do have a pretty good point differential compared to guys like Cam Newton and, and Ben Roethlisberger that are going later on. Just kind of curious. I will say this. In the final past two years of our playoffs, the top guy who had won the championship every year had the one of the top quarterbacks. So food for thought. Just let me know. Thank you.
Mike Wright
I've got the answer. It's a very simple answer. You just switch to a 10 or 12 team lead. Hey, hey, hey. I'm just kidding. I'm just joking.
Andy Holloway
He is 100% right. Quarterbacks, tight ends. Here it's not, I shouldn't say that. It's not quarterbacks and tight ends become more important. It's the few people at each position that become. You have to have the differentiators at the top and those are the guys that win eight team leagues. So Gronk is huge here. Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers are huge here because it's always about point differential. But there isn't as big a gap. Everyone's got good players on their team. So what you really need is you need that gap in points between who are good and who is the best. There is a big spread between those top guys. So don't. I wouldn't get carried away with, you know, thinking oh, I need to get Peyton Manning because he's going to be, you know, in my view, middle of the pack. I would, I would definitely, if I've got the guys on the board that I think are a step above the elite, then you grab those guys. And in running backs, who is it? We don't really know. You know, we can't target them as well as we can target, you know, Rogers, Luck and Gronk. Those three guys to me stick out as guys I want in an 18 league.
Jason Moore
I agree completely on Gronk. I don't agree on the quarterbacks because I, I think Peyton Manning still has a great year. I really like Matt Ryan, but in an eight team league I feel even more confident in my ability to stream the best possible matchup in, in the NFL with, with that little teams. As long as people aren't hoarding quarterbacks. My, your pool is even larger of guys that you can grab for to play for a matchup.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's a tough question. I mean it's tough to take an 18 league and then go to 10 in our, in the way we discuss these strategies and just go the other. I'm probably somewhere in the middle is what I'm saying. I'M probably somewhere in the middle of that. I really do agree with difference makers mattering, but I think they matter in 10 team leagues. They matter in 12 team leagues.
Jason Moore
I had one thing. I've completely blanked to bring this up in the last show because I'm starting a movement. I'm starting a movement. I don't know how many of our listeners are familiar. I would think it's a lot with the show, the league on fxx.
Mike Wright
Right. Hey, you want to push it?
Jason Moore
This is a. It's a really funny show and it's a show about people who played NFC football. It's. You can relate to it very much. They're in their final season. So this is our one chance to get the Foot Clan to rally the Foot Clan, to get the fantasy footballers on the league their final season. We have one shot. So I'm going to start bringing this up. I want people to get on their Twitter hex, demand that the fantasy footballers get a guest appearance on the final season. I.
Mike Wright
We're slower. We're sending him, not deploy.
Jason Moore
Implore.
Mike Wright
Master Shredder, Master Shredder and the Foot Clan get over there.
Jason Moore
Because it would just be awesome. It would be awesome for all of us. It'll be awesome for the Foot Clan.
Mike Wright
At a minimum, we can really annoy whoever does their Twitter account.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And the cool thing is when, when you see it, you would know that you were part of it.
Mike Wright
So what's the handle at the league fxx. All right, get on there.
Jason Moore
Demand the fantasy footballers. Yeah.
Mike Wright
You completely cut off my question.
Jason Moore
The movement. The movement.
Mike Wright
No, no, no. It's good. Let's do another one.
Foot Clan Spy
Hello, this is Foot Clan spy number 409 calling you. Somewhere south. That's a good of Maine.
Mike Wright
He could help.
Foot Clan Spy
I'm getting in a new dynasty league. No drafts. It's gonna be an auction. It's a standard 12 team, no point per run or anything like that. But I don't mind really sucking the first year and taking some of my dollars and spending it on super young players where in a year or two I will have. It's a four person keeper every year. What are some I can bid on? That will be good a year or two down the line. And like I said, I don't mind them riding the bench and just kind of sucking for a year or two. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
Mike Wright
Bye. Good question.
Jason Moore
So he said four keeper.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Which.
Jason Moore
Yeah, to me I don't have to suck. Right. I can be great this year and I can still load up on young talent that I think is going to be very cheap for me to keep the following year.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's not like a full roster dynasty type of league in which you have to throw in, you know, throw a league away or a year away if you want all the young talent.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I was tracking with him all the way up until he said it's a four person keeper. As soon as I knew you only keep four, you're not really going to be keeping guys that you know are a year or two away. You're just not. You're going to be keeping your better guys anyways, so.
Mike Wright
Well, if you want a few names in a category, let's give them height. There are several that happen to be rookies in that category. Matt Jones out of Washington is somebody to pay attention to this year because Alfred Morris is in the final year of his contract and there's a lot of excitement about Mount Jones, third round draft pick, Washington. Amir Abdullah is absolutely in that category.
Jason Moore
He might cost a little bit more though.
Mike Wright
He might. He might cost a little more. He could contribute to you both directions, by the way.
Jason Moore
Yes, he could.
Mike Wright
He could contribute this year and hugely next year.
Jason Moore
Yes. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Philip Dorset, I think is a great one. You're on, you know, the wide receiver.
Mike Wright
For the Indianapolis Colts.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. When you got Andrew Lucky throwing you the ball and you're a phenomenal talent, but there's just people ahead of you down the line. He'll be, he'll be great. And I also think Javorius, Buck Allen.
Jason Moore
That might be a couple years though.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, maybe, but. But four sets, you know, a little older.
Jason Moore
And the one name I'll give out is Jerick McKinnon because I believe that unless the Vikings are a step, let's say they get to the conference or divisional round in the playoffs and they, they want to make the push for next year, it will not surprise me at all to have the Adrian Peterson drama again and them just cut him. And then Jerick McKinnon I think will.
Mike Wright
Be, well, Jericho, I'll tell you, he'll be cheap. He'll be cheap and he will not have any extra tread on his tires because I don't think you see in the field a lot this year.
Jason Moore
Exactly.
Mike Wright
Connor from Atlanta, Georgia wants to know he's trying to decide between keeping three of the following players and he loses the corresponding draft pick. So pick three out of this group for him. It's a half point PPR 10 team lead. LaShawn McCoy for a first, Julio Jones for a second. DeAndre Hopkins for an eighth, Mike Evans. These other guys are basically free. They were off of waivers. Mike Evans, Martavius Bryant and Latavius Murray. So pick three out of that group. Well, I, I am not taking Leshawn McCoy with the depth in that group, giving up my first round pick, I am probably going to give up my second round pick for Julio Jones myself. And so I probably go with personal preference. Here I go. Julio Hopkins, Murray.
Jason Moore
Okay, I lock in Evans and Bryant for free. And my last pick, I am debating between Latavius Murray and Hopkins. And I, I'm going to go with Hopkins. I'm going to take the. The triple threat wide receivers get locked up.
Andy Holloway
That was exactly what I was thinking of me. Me and you are on the same page. Evans.
Mike Wright
So your three are which guys?
Jason Moore
Hopkins, Evans, Marty McBride.
Andy Holloway
Yep.
Mike Wright
All right. Two thirds of a consensus.
Jason Moore
The best kind.
Mike Wright
Rob from London England wants to know, is it worth burning a late round pick on picking up someone else's handcuff and if so, which handcuff is most likely to get the full time job in the event of an injury? Well, I mean, by definition that should be all of them, but so what? What is the answer to this question?
Andy Holloway
No is the general answer to the question. I think that.
Mike Wright
What about like last year, Nile Davis was everybody's favorite guy to grab. That's somebody else's handcuff.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I think that there are certain players valuable to draft regardless of whether or not they are your handcuff. And if. And those guys. Yeah. Draft them, but don't draft them because it's somebody else's handcuff. I know, I've seen so many drafts, or some guy drafts him just to stop someone else from getting them. So, like for instance, Alfred Blue. Right. Alfred Blue is a guy that, you know, if you've got Arian Foster, maybe you want, but I don't think he's a guy that, you know, needs to be even drafted in every league where you just have to have him. And if you're targeting him, you must have something against the, you know, Aaron Foster owner. And never, ever, ever draft the, the guy thinking, I'm gonna get something good from him because. No, you're not.
Mike Wright
It's funny because you're actually, a lot of times you just shoot yourself in the foot because what you're doing is you're drafting the guy, you're laughing about it, and then two weeks into the season, you hold him, you need a draft, you need a roster spot for the waivers, and you're like, Dang it. I have to drop him now.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And then the Aaron Foster owner just.
Jason Moore
It's a long, long gamble. The only guy maybe I would do be. And this just depends on the size of your bench. But James Starks. Yeah, I like him a lot. If Eddie Lacy, who's already had a couple concussions, goes down, Starks, I think, becomes a workhorse.
Andy Holloway
I am so happy to hear you say that because I know you and.
Mike Wright
You and Starks are close friends. You guys are froyo, buddy.
Andy Holloway
I'm telling you, man, James Starks is a. You'd have a really good NFL running back. He is.
Mike Wright
He's all right.
Andy Holloway
He's. Let me tell you something, buddy.
Mike Wright
Less really good NFL running backs don't play backup their whole career.
Jason Moore
You do when Eddie Lacey's.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, exactly, I guess.
Mike Wright
All right, podcast question here from danger 73.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think this is. We just read a review.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Danger, yes.
Mike Wright
From Houston, from day. What's up? Dane is aligning a team with players that have the same buy a good or bad strategy. Obviously you are sacrificing one loss. I don't pay attention to it.
Jason Moore
When you're drafting.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. I mean, I get like, okay, if you're gonna draft like two tight ends or something, probably don't draft them on the same bye week or something. If you're doing something like that, like I might. Like I might have done in my MFL10 league, that would be a bad strategy.
Jason Moore
But you can't change your roster.
Mike Wright
You know, it's great.
Jason Moore
Don't do it.
Mike Wright
I give the advice. I give the advice. Don't make that mistake.
Jason Moore
You know why not to do it, though? Because you lived it.
Mike Wright
But. But my advice is not don't make that mistake. My advice is completely ignore it. And then I completely ignored it in my MFL10 draft.
Jason Moore
It's a best ball where you can't make.
Mike Wright
By the way, let me take a time out here. Some people have written in Zach Morris, timeout.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Don't move. If you're watching this on YouTube, don't move. A lot of people have asked when I say MFL Tinley, what I'm talking about. Some people don't know what that means. They hear other hosts talking about it and you're both completely frozen in front of me and making this impossible to do. No, you can't blink if you're gonna pull this up.
Jason Moore
My face hurts.
Mike Wright
MFL 10 leagues are my FantasyLeague.com leagues. They're best ball leagues. You draft them and then you Never update your roster for the remainder of the season. And so you're drafting like 20 players. I'm trying my best to get through this. You draft like 20 players.
Jason Moore
All right.
Mike Wright
Time in. Oh, you draft like 20. You draft like 20 players and you don't change your roster. Certain amount of guys start, certain amounts of guys sit. So if in my instance, one of my leagues, I happen to draft two tight ends that have the same bye week, I'm getting no points for tight end that week.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, if you're in a league that you don't change roster and just goes from draft, then bye weeks are actually really, really important. You've got to line them up. You should look at them throughout your roster and have that be more than a tiebreaker. But I completely agree with you. In a normal draft, don't use it as anything but a tiebreaker. And don't go in with the strategy of thinking I'm going to get all the guys who got the week 7 bye and I'll just sacrifice that week. I've thought that, like, I remember a decade ago I tried that when I was a fool. And then I. You know what I realized? Not all my guys are on week seven. I still have bye weeks all the time. And. And, And I lost some of those weeks and I just got crushed. And we. Whatever. Don't do it.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Fair advice. Adam from Milwaukee wants to know. He says he loves this show. He's been putting in hours of mock drafts. Hopefully you've been doing that on fantasy.
Andy Holloway
Draft wizard dot com.
Jason Moore
You'd be doing minutes or. He's done 15,000 mock drafts.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah.
Mike Wright
He said hours of mock drafts. And he's hoping of earn. He's hoping he's going to earn his first fantasy title.
Andy Holloway
Oh.
Mike Wright
Which.
Andy Holloway
Keep listening.
Mike Wright
Just fantastic in season.
Andy Holloway
And you will.
Mike Wright
Because if you're like Mike and you win a fantasy title, it lasts all year long to be detriment to your league mates.
Jason Moore
You can never, ever take away a championship. I could come in last place till the end of time, but I still got titles.
Mike Wright
He's got a really good question. Who's your comeback player of the year? And he says that in case you're considering it, please spare everyone by leaving Doug Martin out of the conversation.
Jason Moore
Don't even worry about it.
Mike Wright
I got mine. Andre Johnson. Love Andre Johnson. Bouncing back in Indianapolis this year with the guiding hand of Andrew Luck.
Andy Holloway
Mine is Vincent Jackson.
Mike Wright
I love it.
Andy Holloway
I think that he actually had a decent year last year, but plenty of targets. Yeah, he had plenty of Targets. He just didn't catch touchdowns and he normally does.
Mike Wright
He batted them down. He hit him down on the ground.
Andy Holloway
And he's got a guy coming in that's going to be targeting the veteran.
Mike Wright
Mike says Amir Abdullah. So let's go.
Jason Moore
No, no, no.
Mike Wright
My guy.
Jason Moore
And when I say come back, I'm not saying he's going to be turn into an elite player again.
Mike Wright
Sure. Just bounce back.
Jason Moore
Dwayne Bowe on the Browns.
Mike Wright
Interesting.
Andy Holloway
I like it.
Jason Moore
He's got a guy who can finally air it out. Unlike the Alex check down.
Mike Wright
He heard it here. For somebody who believes he's not washed up other than the Cleveland Browns, me.
Jason Moore
And the Browns were.
Mike Wright
That's a good company.
Jason Moore
Nick.
Mike Wright
Nick from California. Hey, guys. The show's awesome. I'm in a 10 team regular scoring league. We get to keep one player as our first pick. I'm torn between Demaryus Thomas or Antonio Brown as my keeper. A little more information is that in round two, he'll be pick number seven on a snake draft. Give me some advice. Thanks in advance.
Jason Moore
Oh, me.
Andy Holloway
It's.
Jason Moore
And this actually doesn't really matter too much if it's PPR because D. Thomas is a. Is a PPR machine as well. Oh, man. I'm going. I got to go with Brown because he's higher in my rankings.
Mike Wright
Then that's literally all you can do. I'm gonna pull out a quarter and I'm gonna flip it up in the air and if it lands on D. Thomas, that's all I'm taking.
Jason Moore
And the floor with Antonio Brown in ppr. Did we say PPR or not?
Mike Wright
No, we don't know. He didn't say.
Andy Holloway
He's regular scoring.
Mike Wright
Keep Antonio Brown. Keep Antonio Brown because you know his quarterback situation next year and if it's a keeper league and you end up wanting to keep that guy, go ahead and keep Antonio Brown. Agree with that.
Andy Holloway
I'll use that as a tiebreaker. But I would go D. Thomas if you're only taking them this year.
Mike Wright
Okay, fair enough. This question comes in from Frank from Worcester the Tank. I don't know if it's the Tank.
Jason Moore
Here's the deal. If you're from a place called Worcester, you better. You better be bringing French.
Mike Wright
I was just thinking about this. The sauce.
Andy Holloway
Worcestershire sauce.
Mike Wright
I was gonna put it.
Andy Holloway
I can never say that. Worcestershire.
Jason Moore
Please. If you.
Mike Wright
If you sell that sauce, don't hire us. Yes, I mean, but seriously, hire us to be here.
Andy Holloway
How do you say it?
Mike Wright
Worcester.
Jason Moore
Worcester.
Mike Wright
No, it's not. It's Not Worcester, where he lives.
Andy Holloway
How do you say Worcestershire?
Mike Wright
Worcestershire. Oh, man.
Andy Holloway
Worcester. All right, moving along.
Mike Wright
Yes. Love the podcast. He has the ninth pick and he's looking to go wide receiver. Wide receiver with his first two picks. However, there are no real standouts at picks 29 and 32. Should I look to trade those two or are there any other guys that you really like at those picks? He's high on four set, but he don't think he will be there. He don't think. That's really good English by me. He doesn't think he'll. He'll be there high on four set. No, I don't think he'll be there either. So 10 team half point PPR league.
Jason Moore
No. Okay, hold on. 10 team at pick 29. Yeah, he'll be there.
Andy Holloway
Yep, he'll be there.
Mike Wright
So you agree with the strategy? Go watch the wide receiver.
Jason Moore
I'm fine with it. If. If you think you can get Justin for set that spectacular and.
Andy Holloway
And Frank Gore as well as a guy, I'd be targeting there.
Mike Wright
All right, let's.
Jason Moore
Good. Gore. I like him too.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he'll be there too. Brent from Mobile, Alabama, he says, hey, guys, love the podcast. He especially likes it when he has to do paperwork. There's an amazing amount of people.
Jason Moore
We make people do paperwork.
Mike Wright
No, we don't make them. We make their paperwork better. Oh, yeah. And in general, a lot of commutes have been improved from my understanding. His question is a simple one. He says he has the 14th overall pick in a full point PPR 14 team league. So his questions about draft strategy. Would you go running back, wide receiver with the first two picks or go a different route? Go running back. Running back. He says he knows he has to nail the first four picks, so any insight would help. I agree with you. When you draft later in the draft, you really have to nail those picks because you're. You don't have the luxury of an AP or Lacey or Foster sitting at the top of the draft. So got to make the right pick. He does say it's a league that gives six points per touchdown for quarterbacks. So what do you do?
Jason Moore
14 team.
Mike Wright
It is a 14 team league. I split them myself.
Jason Moore
I strongly consider going RBRB with.
Mike Wright
Wow.
Andy Holloway
Really?
Jason Moore
Yeah, in 14 at the 14th spot. Yeah, I would consider it.
Andy Holloway
I would strongly not consider it personally.
Mike Wright
I just feel like split it then.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I mean, for. For me at the 14 spot in the 14 team, I definitely am going to at least take one wide receiver because I believe there you'll still have one of those wide receiver, one who could finish at number one. I would consider taking two of those. I would consider splitting it. I would also consider in a 14.
Mike Wright
Team, you'd consider waiting on running backs and not draft one running back.
Jason Moore
Okay, let's say you're a pick 14. C.J. anderson and Jeremy Hill are on the board.
Andy Holloway
Oh, I would take both those guys.
Jason Moore
That's those, those are the kinds of guys I'm talking about. I'm not saying, oh, I'm going to grab Alfred Morris and Jonathan Stewart right there.
Andy Holloway
Those two guys are there. Then I take them. I just, I don't see those two guys being there in a 14 team. 14 team leagues, generally speaking are more serious as well. And so you got a lot of guys. I think that running backs go more premium in those. So I don't know.
Jason Moore
I would, I would, I bet, I bet at least one of those guys will be there. And I would think that another elite option or very good RB1 will be there.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's a good point. I want to remind Everybody about our YouTube channel. If you haven't been on to YouTube, check out the Fantasy Footballers YouTube channel. Subscribe to it on there. Jason Moore
X x@league fxx. Yeah, because there's it's not on fx anymore. It's on fxx.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so because at league, the league, the league. At the league fx. Got it.
Jason Moore
I assume the extra X is because it's extra extreme.
Andy Holloway
Whoa.
Jason Moore
But tag, I'm a desperate man here, people.

Fantasy Footballers Podcast 2015 - SATURDAY Special: Mailbag and Listener Questions Release Date: July 18, 2015
In this special Saturday edition of the Fantasy Footballers Podcast, hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright dive into a mailbag format, addressing a variety of listener questions and providing expert insights on numerous fantasy football topics.
Timestamp: 01:22 - 04:07
The discussion begins with listener inquiries about drafting defenses in fantasy football. Jason Moore emphasizes the importance of focusing on Week 1 matchups over worrying about year-long consistency:
Jason Moore [01:27]: "What I will look for is what I see as the best Week 1 matchup."
Mike Wright concurs, highlighting the unpredictable nature of defensive performance across the season:
Mike Wright [03:03]: "Defense is one of the least consistent positions to predict... you’re going to learn that about the first four or five weeks and then snatch them off the waiver wire."
Andy Holloway adds that selecting defenses like the Jets and Panthers, who have favorable Week 1 matchups, can be a strategic advantage.
Timestamp: 07:04 - 37:35
Timestamp: 08:44 - 12:51
Question from Ben: In a half-point PPR 14-team league with three flex positions, should one prioritize wide receivers, running backs, or a balanced approach?
Advice: Andy recommends prioritizing the highest-producing players regardless of position, as depth allows flexibility:
Andy Holloway [10:22]: "It's going to be a matter of should I get a running back or a wide receiver. You’re always going to be picking whoever the best, most highest producing player is."
Jason and Mike agree, suggesting that while running backs retain value, focusing on overall performance is key.
Timestamp: 11:51 - 14:32
Question from Connor (Bo): In a 12-team standard scoring redraft league with the 10th pick, should one double down on running backs or shift focus to wide receivers?
Advice: The hosts suggest balancing based on league depth and availability, advising against overcommitting to a single position too early.
Jason Moore [12:25]: "I would take him over Marshawn Lynch."
Andy emphasizes knowing your league's dynamics and selecting players who offer the best value potential.
Timestamp: 15:38 - 28:38
Question from Mrs. Fantasy Football Guru (Minnesota): Choose one keeper among Jordy Nelson, Julian Edelman, Jimmy Graham, Kelvin Benjamin, and Mike Wallace.
Advice:
Another Question from Brandon (Virginia): In an 8-team auction dynasty league with four keeper slots, should one prioritize elite quarterbacks like Andrew Luck or Aaron Rodgers?
Advice: Andy advises focusing on players who provide significant point differentials rather than position scarcity, highlighting the importance of standout performers like Gronkowski, Luck, and Rodgers in smaller leagues.
Andy Holloway [17:16]: "You need that gap in points between who are good and who is the best. There is a big spread between those top guys."
Jason supports this by emphasizing the ability to stream quarterbacks effectively even in smaller leagues.
Timestamp: 22:19 - 24:16
Question from Foot Clan Spy: In a standard 12-team auction league with no points per reception, seeking young players with potential for future growth.
Advice: Hosts recommend targeting young, high-upside players who can contribute both immediately and in subsequent seasons. Suggestions include:
Timestamp: 12:20 - 32:04
Timestamp: 12:51 - 15:07
A debate arises over whether to prioritize drafting Le'Veon Bell, considering his suspension and injury risks, versus Marshawn Lynch's age and potential for missing games.
Andy Holloway [14:32]: "If his knee is still lingering and having a problem, I don't know that."
Jason and Mike weigh in, ultimately leaning towards selecting Bell due to his high talent and upside, despite the uncertainty surrounding his availability.
Timestamp: 15:55 - 17:30
In deciding between keeping Jordy Nelson, Julian Edelman, Jimmy Graham, Kelvin Benjamin, and Mike Wallace, the hosts evaluate based on current performance and future potential. Jordy Nelson and Jimmy Graham stand out as top choices due to their consistent contributions and roles within their teams.
Timestamp: 26:28 - 28:38
Question from Rob (London, England): Is it worth drafting a handcuff in late rounds, and which ones are most promising?
Advice: Andy advises against drafting handcuffs solely to block opponents, as this often leads to inefficiencies in roster management. Instead, focus on drafting players who have independent value.
Andy Holloway [26:49 - 28:09]: "Don’t draft them because it's somebody else's handcuff. You’re not."
Jason suggests that only if a handcuff has standalone potential (like James Starks) should it be considered.
Timestamp: 31:50 - 32:42
Question from Frank (Worcester): Who is the likely comeback player of the year?
Advice:
Timestamp: 28:38 - 31:27
Question from Danger73 (Houston): Strategies for team alignment regarding bye weeks in best ball leagues.
Advice: Andy and Mike emphasize the importance of strategically managing bye weeks to avoid having multiple players off simultaneously, which can cripple team performance in those weeks.
Andy Holloway [31:03]: "Don't do it."
They recommend prioritizing roster balance over rigid drafting strategies that might lead to bye week conflicts.
Timestamp: 05:17 - 39:42
Andy reads a positive review from "Sharktopus King," praising the podcast for its factual accuracy, consistency, and humor.
Andy Holloway [05:25]: "They know their facts and stick to it."
Encouraging listeners to leave reviews on iTunes to support the show is a recurring theme.
The hosts promote their YouTube channel as an additional resource for listeners to engage with and access more content.
Mike Wright [35:06]: "Check out the Fantasy Footballers YouTube channel."
Jason highlights a promotional code for FanDuel, encouraging listeners to sign up with the code 'ballers' for account matching bonuses.
Jason Moore [37:30]: "Go to FanDuel.com put in the code ballers when you sign up."
A humorous segment where Jason initiates a "movement" to get the Fantasy Footballers featured on the final season of "League of Fate" (likely referencing TMNT), engaging listeners to rally on social media.
Jason Moore [21:08]: "I'm starting a movement. I want people to get on their Twitter hex, demand that the Fantasy Footballers get a guest appearance on the final season."
In wrapping up, the hosts tease upcoming content, including a live draft show and an interview with Joe Juan from NumberFire, while reiterating gratitude to their listeners.
Jason Moore [39:19]: "We got really good shows coming up for you this week."
They remind listeners to visit their website and follow them on social media for more insights and updates.
Andy Holloway [39:36]: "Don't forget to visit us on the web at www.thefantasyfootballers.com and follow us on Twitter @TheFFballers."
