I mean, the biggest jump. The biggest jump. I'll give you a bunch of names, but who made the biggest jump?

I think. I think it's either got to be a rookie because rookies are growing up right now, or Joe Randall.

Yeah, Randall was my first thought.

And that is the answer to the question. Joseph Randall moving from the 8th to the 5th. Do you guys have anything to say about him?

[Mike Wright]

It's going to keep going up.

Yeah. He's clearly going to be the guy. And I know you were saying I'm not.

No, not clearly, but he is to me.

Well, that's only because you still think someone else is coming.

He's always been that way for me.

No. When it happens, I will more than gladly say that Joseph Randall's the guy.

Yeah, not counting him out. Just Joseph Randall. His. I don't think he's the guy. And we talked about this. Despite Dallas kind of feeling like they have this aura of arrogance with their offensive line, thinking they can put anybody back there. I think they do understand that DeMarco Murray was a special talent and him plus that line, and they don't.

Nobody says Randall's going to be DeMarco Murray. I just think he's going to lead.

[Jason Moore]

Other than Joseph Randall.

[Andy Holloway]

Well, yeah, that's true, but I just think he'll lead the platoon and I think he's got more talent. He just has. He's younger and he's got more talent than dmc and he's going to stay healthier than dmc.

I agree. He's better than dmc.

Other guys moving up this week, as Jason said, were the rookies. TJ Eldon, Amir Abdullah, Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley.

I got to stop talking about Abdullah.

DMC actually did move up around somehow, I guess. People. People are just deciding at this point now on the Dallas running back situation and Legarette Blunt Moved up around, which he should. I don't really understand him being a sixth round pick. That doesn't make sense to me. What about falls? Who do you think had the biggest ADP fall this week?

[Mike Wright]

I have no idea.

[Jason Moore]

The only. Based on Legarett Blunt, I would think maybe Gronk because.

[Mike Wright]

Oh, because the Patriots guys are falling down.

[Jason Moore]

Yeah.

[Andy Holloway]

Yeah. So with the Brady action, Gronk fell a little bit. He fell to the top of the second round. So he's not an adp.

[Jason Moore]

That's good value.

His average jab position is not.

I might actually draft him.

Then CJ Anderson fell a little bit. Lamar Miller fell from the back of the third into the fourth round and Julius Thomas fell a little bit. I.

Yes. The. I think this is important because people are just completely on board, not looking back, not considering anything, that the guy missed a bunch of games last year because of hamstring. Hamstring injuries. At the end of the year, he came out and he said that he had pulled both his hamstrings. So there could be a running issue here with odb. And it's. It's something that you have to at least think about and not just, I've got the new best wide receiver with no concern.

That's the funny thing. When I read the place that I read the news blurb on his hamstring problem, the end of that blurb said, you know, but assuming he's healthy, he'll. He'll being the number one mix again. You know, like, that's the pub surrounding.

[Mike Wright]

We're just glossing over the hamstring issues.

Yeah. And this isn't something that should scare us away or be like, oh, this is big news. Drop him in your rankings. Drop him in your rankings if he's number one in your rankings. But not because of this news because, you know, like, in our rankings right now, I think we've got him collectively probably about fifth or sixth.

He's still probably a little farther.

And that's where. And I think that's where we ranked him based on the question marks we still don't know from last year. He missed those games because of soft tissue injuries, which are notoriously the ones that come back.

Yeah, I mean, there are a couple warning signs there when Eli loses his time in the pocket a little bit. Maybe with this tackle going down and the reminder of ODB being injured. Just be careful. Other guys don't necessarily have those risks. Other guys don't have his upside. So you have to weigh that. Right. The Redskins. Oh, we alluded to this, what, two weeks ago. It's incredible. Jordan Reed has now had knee surgery of some sort.

A procedure. One call it a school I read was surgery. They say he'll allegedly be ready for training camp because he also will allegedly be a really good tight end someday.

And I agree that you have to pay him the money. That's the worst part about having a QB like Cam Newton is I don't think he's good enough to get a team to the championship to win Super Bowls, but he's good enough to get to the playoffs. And you ha.

It is absolutely possible.

Could he be Russell Wilson Light.

I don't know about the Heat. I don't know if he ran enough for me to really think of him as Russell Wilson. He's a. He's a great quarterback. He's accurate as well. He's smart, especially under pressure.

He's smart like Wilson, and he makes the right play.

Yeah.

Does he put up enough numbers?

[Jason Moore]

Yeah, he didn't put up many numbers last year, but his efficiency was really good. When I ranked my quarterbacks and did all the stats, he was just outside of the top 12 for me. And so I could see him breaking into there, but I'm still going with him. Outside the top 12.

[Mike Wright]

Yeah, he's outside for me, but he's. He's one of those guys who got Mike Wallace now. Yeah, Mike Wallace, Charles Johnson.

[Jason Moore]

Adrian Peterson's gonna be huge for him. You know, you're going to have to load up against the run and, you know, he dumped the ball off a lot last year, and I would much rather, much rather drop the ball off into Adrian Peters hands as a quarterback.

[Mike Wright]

Versus Matt Aziata. Okay.

Oh, and a. Just a fun fact for us because we always crush him. Jay Cutler was fourth under pressure. Yeah. So I found that to be an interesting, interesting statistic.

So I especially like this one because Cole Beasley is a guy that we haven't talked about and he signed a pretty big contract for a guy of his caliber. He signed a four year, $13.6 million contract. Four million signing bonus, five million guarantees. It just. He had a. He had 6.7 yards after catch that was tied for eighth. He had four touchdowns. Only four hundred and forty three snaps.

So Beasley was extremely efficient and he was really.

Now they seem to be committing to him.

What Arian Foster does is Arian Foster breaks a tackle and he's gone. What Eddie Lacy does is he breaks attack. He's like Martyn lynch breaks a tackle, gets caught, breaks through that tackle, gets caught, breaks through that tackle. And so each time he's like breaking five tackles.

[Mike Wright]

And his spin move is amazing.

[Andy Holloway]

Yeah, it's worth saying, like, I mean, I was an owner of Eddie Lacy last year. A lot of people were. A lot of people started the year and was worried about him, but they started using him in the passing game a lot more in the second half of the season. And he broke a lot of big plays, including a few tackles on his way to a long 50, 60 yard touchdown towards the end of the season. So they have a lot of trust. He had a lower, I believe, a lower drop percentage than anybody on the team.

[Mike Wright]

He was the, I think the most efficient receiver on the team.

[Andy Holloway]

Yeah. Which is just incredible because I don't think people see it that way or they worry that Starks comes in in those third down situations.

[Mike Wright]

Well, you call him Fat Eddie. And a guy you call that you're. Oh, he can't catch. He's got meaty hands.

And then he breaks a nice tackle.

Soft hands to catch those balls cushioned well.

Yeah. I mean it. What's nice, I mean, you're not getting really any special value on any of these guys, but you're. You're at least locking up elite players that you know are there for you. You don't have to take any of the. Of the chance. Any of the lottery.

So in the third round, would you rather have Gio Payton or Lamar Miller?

Lamar or.

Or nobody.

Or nobody got an option or nobody? Because for me, I would go either nobody or Peyton. But I'm really souring on Peyton right now, so I feel like I'm leaning more towards nobody. The problem is, you know, in a keeper league, that pick that you can get, you get back, how good a value is it going to be? But I think I would just go with those two running backs and leave everybody else.

I would absolutely go. Lacey Hill, Lamar Miller.

Yeah, and I could go either way on those. I think you got to take Miller if he's available for the third round pick. So. So I'm okay with that. All right, let's go to the next question here.

What's up, guys? Kyle again from Atlanta had a question about Julio Jones. I know Kyle Shanahan's the new coordinator and in his offense, whoever the X receiver is usually gets, I mean, top five targets in the NFL. I know Santana Moss and Pierre Garcon, even guys like that were top five in targets. So I'm excited. I have Julio Jones as like my second receiver behind Antonio Brown. But my question is about Roddy White. What kind of value does he have related to this offense and is he just a wide receiver?

[Jason Moore]

And that's as much as I can expect from him. I just wanted you to speak into Roddy White and where you guys see him next year. Thanks, guys.

Yeah, happy to speak to Roddy White. I think we might have a few differing opinions on him, but for me, I have a lot of concerns with Roddy White. He hasn't played a full season in three years. His receptions have been down since a couple years ago and he hasn't had a thousand yard season in three years. So for me, he's also on the downside of his career age wise. So I don't see him having a year that surprises you. Last year he had 80 receptions and that's where I have his peak at 80 receptions. Could that make him a wide receiver? 2. Maybe if he gets in the end zone enough. But for me, he is a wide receiver three or beyond. And I don't have a lot of confidence in him. Mike, I don't know how much you'd really disagree with that assessment.

[Mike Wright]

No, the numbers, I have him at 80 and 1,000, but I have him scoring about seven touchdowns. So he's a. He's a two. For me. I think that Falcons offense is going to be spectacular. Julio Jones will be the featured guy, but the coverage is going to have to roll to him. Roddy White, he. I think Roddy White can still get it done for him. It's. It's all about health. If he can maintain that health for 16 games. Yeah. Then you're going to get a spectacular fantasy guy and probably at a decent value because the. Because people are souring on him, because he does keep getting hurt. But I'm still going to take the risk on Roddy.

[Jason Moore]

Yeah, you can get a value for where he's being drafted, but we have to realize his absolute upside is wide receiver 2. There's no world where we live in where he finishes the year as a wide receiver one. I don't even think if Julio went down for the year, I don't know, 2007 world.

[Mike Wright]

I think you could.

[Jason Moore]

Well, you do you think in 2015.

[Mike Wright]

Yes, I do.

[Andy Holloway]

Well, he said that. Because if Julio went down.

Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Well, Julio went down and Harry. Harry Douglas turned into a fantasy superstar. Over a dozen yards.

Yeah. My point is, is that you just have to look at what you're drafting him for on your roster. So, like, you don't want to take this guy thinking he's got the potential to be one of those, like, beast mode wide receivers. You have to draft him for the right spot. If for me, on my team, I wouldn't draft him to be anything more than the wide receiver three, because then I'm drafting wide receiver three who has wide receiver two upside, but probably is going to be in the three or less so position wise on my roster, that's what I would draft.

[Mike Wright]

Roddy White's a guy where if I'm loading up on running backs and I keep waiting on a two, I'm perfectly happy taking him as my two.

[Andy Holloway]

All right, hopefully that gives you some perspective on Roddy White. Let's go to an email now from David. This is a tough one. He's in an auction league 14 team, $200 budget, 1/2 point PPR. And so he has. He says of the following, which four players do you think give me the best value? Adrian Peterson for $53, Julio Jones for $34, Golden Tate for 23, Sammy Watkins for 23, Jimmy Graham for 20, Matt Ryan for 15, Travis Kelsey for eight, and Isaiah Crowell for eight. I think right out of the gate we'd all agree Kelsey for $8 is in that group.

[Mike Wright]

And if you're just talking straight value, Crowell should be. Yeah, it's Crowell because he Take a.

[Andy Holloway]

Chance on him with eight bucks even if we're wrong and he's not the lead back, Right?

[Mike Wright]

Yeah. If you want just value, then frees.

Up a lot of cash for the rest of the even.

Just because they're the cheapest. But they're cheap, and those are guys who we love. Kelsey and Crowell could produce behind that Cleveland line if he gets the volume and carries.

What about Julio for $30? He'd be in that group for me, too.

At that price, paying $10 more than a Watkins or a Tate here to get what we think could be a top three guy. I think Julio's the third guy for me. Do you guys think Ryan is the value at 15 bucks?

Ryan, I think, is a better value here, but I don't know if. I mean, I know that he said who's the best value, but that's obviously what we're. What he's probably asking us, who are the best people to.

Hey gents, we are going to answer your question because you're, you know, even though you're sad. Just started mock drafting for the upcoming season. He's in a 12 team PPR redraft.

He finds himself frequently leaning towards stud wide receivers Oda Beckham Jr. Megatron does Bryant or Gronkowski over an elite RB. So pretty much what we don't do as much. I'm considering targeting Jeremy Hill in the second round and then cuffing him with Gio Bernard later in the fifth. I love both of those running backs and I want a piece of that run game, but I've never drafted two timeshare running backs. What are your thoughts on Hill and Geo? Well, lots to say about that. Mike. Why don't you.

[Mike Wright]

That's a great plan it. I plan on doing it if I really.

Yeah, that's a good.

I'm with him. I'm with him all the way because Geo, where he's being drafted is a good value for himself, period. Like right now he keeps dropping more.

And more and I think you want to spend a two and a five on one spot or a one and a five on one spot.

I think you're going to get Geo be past five.

I think he's saying hopefully not earlier than round five.

Question is he is. If this is a ppr, this is a ppr. Gio absolutely has flex value by himself. When Jeremy Hill is in the lineup, he won't. He's not a one or two. He's a flex guy. And it still works out. And then you have and you're automatically backed up. If Jeremy Hill goes down, you have your guy. So the caveat to this is you're dancing dangerously if you go with the student and then Jeremy Hill isn't there for you to get an elite running back in the second.

Right. Yeah, it's really hard. I think the point you're making here is it's just bad to go into a draft with such a rigid plan because there's only one way that it works out the way that you're hoping and every other way will leave you lost.

[Andy Holloway]

So he's the 70th Geo's the 70th off the board right now. He's the 27th running back. So he's getting drafted just outside the top 24. I've never been. I'm just going to tell you my own opinion. I've never been a fan of that situation where I have to spend a potentially valuable fifth round pick in a redraft on a guy's handcuff that if I'm not going to want to put them both out there every week, I don't want to do that. I don't want to put them both out there every single week. I mean, I feel like this would have been, you know, Spiller, Fred Jackson. I mean, maybe you get away with it, but I just don't like it as a strategy. Personally, I'd rather draft Jerry Mihill and take a flyer on a guy in the 5th which isn't that far. That could be another one. Not a guy who's capped out.

Aaron K From Dallas says this. His question is basically all about Devin Funches, the wide receiver rookie out of Carolina. He decided to send me all of his measurables 642-345-14 said that he is a freak on paper. Great coming out of Michigan. Basically wants to know our opinion on funches because he might be too caught up in the idea of him being a freak and really good. And so what's our thought basically on funches? Shine some light onto Devin Funches. And so I looked up a couple things about Carolina in general to give you some perspective. They were 20th in offensive efficiency last year and they rushed the ball at the eighth most times in the league. And I don't see that changing. If anything, I think they could be in the top five rushing attempts this year.

And so for me, a rookie with limited opportunity in a clear wide receiver three role because I'm putting Olson ahead for sure. I'm putting basically Benjamin and Olson ahead of him in targets. He could make a splash in the red zone a little bit, but I'm not. That's basically where I have him.

Yeah, Calvin Benjamin made it seem like it can be done in Carolina with Cam Newton, but that was because he was the only wide receiver there. Now with funches coming in, don't forget garbage time. Yeah, with funches coming in, I don't think he's as good as Kelvin Benjamin was coming in. He's, he's still got, he's very, very raw despite his measurables. And I think that there's not going to be. You're already taking the ball and spreading it around a little bit more. Also, he said in his email that he's in a 10 team now. It's, it's a dynasty. So you know, maybe there's some long term value if he can refine those skills. But in a 10 team, you're pretty much only dealing with studs and I don't see Funtius really ever being a stud unless he's allowed to play in the tight end position, which they've already come out and said they're putting him.

[Andy Holloway]

Firmly in one side. Hopefully that helps a little bit. I don't see high upside for him. All right, let's, let's go a little rapid fire here. So we'll try to answer a few more questions before we have to finish the show here. This email comes in from Derek from Massachusetts. He says, hey bros, thanks for the great show. He has a keeper question for you. For us, he's in a one point PPR 12 team league they could start. One quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end and one flex. He can keep DeAndre Hopkins for a ninth or Travis Kelsey for an 11th. Hopkins seems like the choice to me, but he likes Kelsey's upside. What are your thoughts, Hopkins?

[Mike Wright]

You take Hopkins because you. And then you can go a little bit more aggressive on Kelsey if you want. You can take him in the fourth, but then you can still grab studs in the. In the first through third round.

[Andy Holloway]

I agree. Email coming in from Pablo. He's emailed us before, says hey, chetro Bradigan and RePet repite. Anybody know these guys? I think they're a band members. That's all I got for you. How to thought while listening to Thursday's podcast. Oh, I love this question. This is why I put it in here. Listening to Thursday's podcast wanted to throw it out there as a talking point. Why, why would you rank Jeremy Hill in front of Mark Ingram? Ingram had three more receptions than Hill in three less games and the Saints have a stronger line now this season. Yes, Ingram has Spiller, but Hill has Geo. What do you guys think? Is the gap very large?

[Jason Moore]

No, I think it's, it's a history. Right. So in Mark Ingram, you've got a guy who's been in the league for many, many years, has never really done what they said he was going to do until he gets on a contract year and has dealt with injuries year in, year out. And so there is some upside. Right. They improved the offensive line, but then like you said, C.J. spiller's coming in. But the difference here is the fact that Jeremy Hill, he came in as a rookie and didn't get used in the first part of the year that much. And when he took over, he took over. And so it's really about projection and where the needle is pointing. And so for Mark Ingram, I see the needle pointing flat, which is still good. He had a very good year last year, maybe up just a smidge, but with Jeremy Hill, you just see the opportunity, the potential being much, much higher. That's, that's how I see the difference.

[Mike Wright]

I agree, I like, I do like Ingram this year, but Jeremy Hill is just a top talent. He has a great opportunity. He has a quarterback who is Andy Dalton and not Drew Brees. Where if the Saints want to, even though they look like they're changing their philosophy and they're going to go run heavy, they still have Drew Brees, one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the Bengals do not. So the. And it looks like the Bengals, Hugh Jackson figured out the way that they're really going to win is they rely on that running game. And there's just. The Saints do tricky things with their running backs and the Bengals I think are going with.

[Jason Moore]

You could say it like this. I don't see. I don't see a potential where Mark Ingram finishes as a. As the number one running back or.

[Andy Holloway]

But you do see that with him.

[Jason Moore]

But I see that with Hill, the ability.

[Andy Holloway]

That's a really good way to put it. Email from Tyler. He's in a 12 team 1/2 point PPR. He's drafting at the 2 spot. He doesn't know what the first guy is going to do. So he wants us to rank these three running backs in half point PPR format, which is kind of our preferred format. Le'Veon Bell, Jamal Charles and Eddie Lacy. But now there's a catch. He wants us to put our heads together and give him a consensus. Is that possible?

I think it is pretty possible. But say this, my three are Lacey, Bell, Charles.

I never should have, never should have started this last one 10 team dynasty PPR. It's a brand new dynasty 25 round draft. He's drafting 10th and he wants to talk strategy in a position like this. You know Mike, the common strategy of a two quarterback 25 man dynasty league draft, 10th easy. How do you rookies, how do you view rookies and younger guys against the veterans? And then he thanks us for answering this question which is going to be difficult but let's see what we can do. What can we offer him by. By way of philosophy here?

[Mike Wright]

Well, when you're going dynasty the quarterback. Yeah. So the rule of thumb for dynasty is wide receivers kind of rule the world. If you're in a two quarterback dynasty, you, you really want to have Andrew Luck, you're not going to get him. I wouldn't think if he's 10th out of 10 team. But if you can get a good. You need to get a stud quarterback.

[Andy Holloway]

Foundational quarterback for that roster and 25.

[Mike Wright]

Rounds, I mean you gotta, you gotta.

[Jason Moore]

You have to search. Here's at the 10th spot. 10th or 11th, obviously on that turn you have to take a quarterback. Right.

[Andy Holloway]

I mean has to be one of your first two for sure.

[Jason Moore]

Yeah. You just can't go in a two quarterback league with, with missing out on that. But hopefully here's what I would do. I would talk up to all of your league mates all off season about the unimportance of quarterback so that, so that some of them drop down a little bit to you. That's just what I would employ. And to clarify what you're saying, young wide receivers are really what matters for the. Just because of the longevity of the career.

[Andy Holloway]

Yeah. You got to keep them forever.

[Mike Wright]

Yeah. There's still studs like Antonio Brown has still. He's got plenty of years on him. Julio Jones still has plenty of tread on the tire.

[Andy Holloway]

Yeah. If you're in a fresh dynasty, in terms of your question about rookies and younger guys compared to established veterans, I think you can do a healthy mix because that might mean the decision of being able to win right now versus just saying hey, I'm going to go build for four years now, mix them together and because you're going to have rookie drafts every year that you can make the right choices on because you'll be listening to the show and that's what I do. I mix them, I mix them Pretty good.

[Jason Moore]

The first thought that came to my mind was actually makes it real good. It was go for the win. Now I feel like when you're doing the startup draft, I mean. Yeah, you want to maybe use some of your later picks at be a little bit more clever and do more research into the real sleepers, the two year, three year guys that are out there. You know, look, look on high power offenses at rookies, you know, projected forward.

[Andy Holloway]

Dorset and those guys.

[Jason Moore]

Do those for later round picks. But in your first half of the draft, draft the best fantasy team for this year and go win that championship while everyone's freaking out about the rookies. That would be my strategy.

[Mike Wright]

Yeah.

Or join. Join a normal league. But no, I'm just joking.
