To the Fantasy footballers podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Jason Moore
Good morning, fantasy football players of the world. It is Thursday, December 31st, the final day of, of 2015.
Andy Holloway
I'm highly doubtful that we have a lot of listeners in Vietnam.
Mike Wright
Yeah, you think football's huge.
Andy Holloway
There might be, there might be a few.
Jason Moore
Shout out to the listeners in Vietnam.
Mike Wright
Yeah, shout out to Robin Williams.
Andy Holloway
RIP Robin Williams was a good late.
Mike Wright
The late.
Jason Moore
Great, interesting start to the show.
Andy Holloway
That's a downer of a beginning.
Jason Moore
Didn't expect any of that. We are back again. As I said, this is the final day of the year, is the final show of the week. We've got our fantasy forecast, the second half of the games. We've got our starts of the week on today's show. Got some mailbag, all the news and notes, injury reports getting you ready for Week 17 championship games and yeah, we're ready to go. We're back.
Mike Wright
Let's do this.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Like Andy said, this is the final show of the week. We are taking off of New Year's Day.
Jason Moore
Correct.
Andy Holloway
Because I mean, everyone knows that with, with all of our children, we, we will be out late till like 10:30pm yeah, yeah, yeah. 10:30pm and then we're gonna hit it 10:30, guys.
Jason Moore
Are you excited?
Mike Wright
I'm gonna watch that ball drop in like Russia.
Andy Holloway
I'm watch the Australian feed. Yeah, go to bed.
Jason Moore
That's more authentic. It's more legit. These people staying up till midnight.
Andy Holloway
It is the future. Remember Y2K and we were watching Australia.
Jason Moore
Like, oh, oh, how old were we when Y2K happened?
Andy Holloway
That's math I don't want to do.
Jason Moore
Okay, look, I was young. I was very young.
Andy Holloway
I remember how paranoid I'm 17.
Jason Moore
I remember how Paramount paranoid my mother was about Y2K.
Andy Holloway
The toasters are coming.
Jason Moore
Like we're all looking around microwaves, like lay on the ground, make sure nothing happens. All these drive bys happen on Y2K apparently.
Andy Holloway
Drive by cyber attacks.
Jason Moore
That's right. You never know what was going to happen. And now it's 2016.
Andy Holloway
We did it.
Jason Moore
How did that happen?
Andy Holloway
We did it, America. We made it.

Jason Moore
We've got a brand new.
Andy Holloway
A direct competitor.
Jason Moore
About time they had a competitor. Yeah, yeah, we got it out there.
Andy Holloway
We have five songs available.
Jason Moore
Yep.
Andy Holloway
Total. That's our. That's our entire music catalog.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we've signed a couple of Mike's old bands. We got them on board. All right, quick question. Fantasy football. What is your new Year's resolution? Your fantasy football New Year's resolution, How are you going to change? I mean, Jason, I know in our league of record you won, so, you know, your resolution might change nothing. There you go.
Andy Holloway
You change nothing and you die.
Mike Wright
No, I've got my change. I got.
Jason Moore
Who wants to go first?
Andy Holloway
I will go first. And I resolve to hold the higher upside running backs, the backup running backs. I'm going to hold them longer.
Jason Moore
Now. That was already something you tried to do. Yeah, but the Ryan Matthews of the world.
Andy Holloway
It's very difficult to hold these guys until fruition. I was able to do it two years ago with Jeremy Hill. I held him all year long and it paid off huge. And this year, I mean, I had David Johnson in a couple spots, I had him available in other spots, but I just didn't hold on to him and paid the price when it came to the waiver time. I think I only had him on my bench in one of the leagues and then it was, could I afford him. Similar thing with D'Angelo Williams. We saw the first two games. We literally saw it. There was no speculation of what D'Angelo Williams can do on that offense. We saw it for two games and yet I wasn't holding on to him in the leagues where I didn't have Le'Veon, which was just a mistake. We talked about it in our league of record. There was a guy in our league who every Sunday would add him to his bench, which. And somehow I didn't even notice it because it's, you know, he's not announcing. He's doing this. But it was just, it's so smart of him to do. If you have a wasted bench spot, throw a really high upside running back on there and you. Because you never know. I mean especially this year with all the injuries.
Jason Moore
So I'll piggyback on that. That's a good resolution. My resolution is this. And every time I had momentum this year, I kind of got punched in the face a little bit. And so my new year's resolution is to become better at depth on my team. I have always been a fantasy player that has prioritized elite starters over depth on my team. But whether it was Dion Lewis, Jon Stewart late in the year, my Rawls injury, Arian Foster, my team at times looked amazing.
Andy Holloway
You can more depth than that. I mean that's four RB1s.
Jason Moore
Well, no, those weren't. That wasn't depth. That was reaction right then I had to go get others. Then I had to go get others. What I'm saying is by the end of the year, despite having that levels of of depth, it's more proving the point. I still had to start some bad running backs in the playoffs. So piggybacking off of you with. You've always said this and I, I don't know if I bought into it in the beginning, but just at the end of the day, whether they're good or not, you always say, you know, have a couple running backs, extra running backs on your bench. I didn't do that enough this year. I've always been, like I said, elite at every starting position and roll the dice. I think in the modern NFL, rolling the dice anymore is, is probably foolish. It's probably really, really hoping to get lucky without the injuries. Whereas before I think the odds were a little bit better. But now, you know, too many guys went down.
Mike Wright
We talked about that heading into the playoffs this last year you had a better group of starters and I had.
Jason Moore
More depth and we thought that would go head to head.
Mike Wright
We both dealt with injuries. Mark Ingram went down for me, Stuart and Rawls, Stewart and Rawls for you. And I had the depth to kind of roll in there. When Alshon Jeffrey was out, you had.
Jason Moore
Another wide receiver that could have somebody to go in.
Mike Wright
For me, my, my new Year's resolution looking ahead to 2016 is to value the high end elite wide receivers higher than good running backs. For me, I have always been a super running back guy. I'm going to take, you know, a Lamar Miller this year over a good wide receiver because I can get wide receivers. I can get Them late in the draft. I can get them off of waivers. And I think that's right when you're talking about your average wide receivers. But when you're talking about the high end wide receivers, I think it's starting to really just be proven that they are safer than the running backs. You did some work, Mike, on like the safety of quarterbacks and different positions. The, the bust factor of how many of these top guys are busting this year, man alive. If you took a running back in.
Andy Holloway
That first round, chances are not named Adrian Peterson.
Mike Wright
Yeah, chances are you got, you got screwed over.
Jason Moore
We got a listener. Email me this morning. They survived spending half their auction money on two players, Eddie Lacy and C.J. anderson. Half their auction money. They won the title.
Mike Wright
Wow.
Jason Moore
But that serves your point. All this money thrown into those, those running backs that went down.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And if you look at the early wide receivers that went. I mean you have des that went down. That was a bust.
Jason Moore
Jordy and.
Mike Wright
Well, Jordy, if you drafted super early. But I would say, I would say of the top guys, the only two would be DEZ and then Demarys. Thomas was a little bit of a letdown, but he was still okay. A.J.
Andy Holloway
Green was probably. I didn't own him personally, so I didn't have that roller coaster. I was just watching from afar. But I would.
Mike Wright
I had A.J. green on that.
Andy Holloway
People were disappointed with Green.
Jason Moore
It will be something we talk about in depth this offseason. Because this is something that Mike, you brought up is one of the trends you're expecting to see because of the injuries this year, Right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the trend is I think people are going to go wide receiver heavy in the first round and I haven't. I mean, we still have plenty of time. For me, I want to start breaking down some, some data and all those things before I make a decision on am I going to join that or am I going to zag because everyone's zigging, you know, and grab the best running back.
Jason Moore
Better value at running backs, but that's it.
Andy Holloway
I agree with Jason that it's going to be very interesting for us to examine of. Do you just go wide receiver? Do you punt running back for a couple rounds and see what happens?
Jason Moore
Jason read me his MFL10 roster this morning. One of the leagues he won, which was impressive in and of itself, but it was dominated by high end wide receiver play and a bunch of injured running backs were on his team.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
And I'm starting to wonder, like people read me their running back lists on those teams or their fantasy rosters and they're like, man, I got a bunch of bad breaks. But everybody's saying that. It's not just like I'm starting to say, oh, okay, everybody dealt with running back injuries this year, so very interesting. We will, as Mike said, we will be looking at all the data and looking at the trends and seeing where we're headed in 2016 because things change. Some things stay the same. I think late round quarterbacks are going to stay the same.
Andy Holloway
And I have a big. I guess it's not big. That's. That's overstating it. Apparently There was a D'Angelo Williams stat correction and we are getting tweets that people have had their championship revoked because of a D'Angelo Williams stat correction. So a shout out to our fallen comrades who have lost their title to the stat correction. That is a bad beat.
Jason Moore
That's terrible.
Andy Holloway
We feel it. I've never had a title revoked that way. I have had my entrance into a title game revoked that way. It is brutal. I understand your pain.
Jason Moore
What it looks like is D'Angelo Williams had a fumble and a fumble lost point added. So if you're in a league that penalizes both of those, basically a fumble happened, a fumble loss was credited to D'Angelo Williams.
Andy Holloway
So if he.
Jason Moore
So that is brutal.
Andy Holloway
That is brutal.
Jason Moore
Yeah, we've. I've had a few stories. There was a Denard Robinson stat correction that Yahoo did not credit ahead of time and then put the responsibility on the owners.
Mike Wright
Theirs was even worse though, because this D'Angelo Williams was on this week, right? Yes. I mean, I mean, you expect stat corrections today. If I, if I'm up by one point and I get stack corrected, I'm waiting till today when that's normal. But the one with the Yahoo and the Denard Robinson was, was over a week old and they went back.
Jason Moore
Well, it wasn't really Yahoo, though. It was the NFL changed it.
Mike Wright
Right.
Jason Moore
And Yahoo Maybe didn't apply it as soon as they could have. I mean, they played it on Friday, I think before the weekend games, but Friday was Christmas. So that's what got in the way for a lot of league owners. And they didn't do it in a way that automatically applied it like ESPN did. They said, hey, we don't want to mess with your team. You go mess with it. It was 13 yards of rushing yards for Denard Robinson that got changed. So that stuff is no fun. I still say if he got 13 yards, he got 13 yards. I've been on the side where you change it because he did. I mean, it's the truth, so. But it doesn't make it feel any better. All right, let's go ahead and get into the news.
Mike Wright
News and notes from around the league.
Jason Moore
All right. Not a lot of news. We have a lot of injury updates for you. This is the big one, though. The Redskins head coach Jay Gruden hinted his starters could be active but play limited snaps in week 17. I don't know if what we're going to see. I would guess what we're going to see is kind of like a fourth preseason game situation where maybe they want to get some reps out on the field, but you're talking about a driver, too. We've warned you about the Redskins this week because he said he needed to be smart with those players, make sure they don't get hurt. To be honest, I don't know what to expect from them other than the fact that the only guy that I think about playing is Jordan Reed, because we saw what he could do in one quarter last week. And tight end is harder.
Mike Wright
Yeah. If Jordan Reed is playing an entire half, he's going to outperform your average waiver wire pickup replacement tight end. And so that is worth considering. The problem here is we don't know that it's going to be half or a drive.
Jason Moore
This is something where, if it was my team, I would be on Twitter every second. I would be. Yeah. The whole morning leading up to starting a guy, I'd have another option. And then I'd look for somebody, one of the big reporters, to say, okay, Gruden said, they're going to half, you know, and then I might roll them out there.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I don't think you can trust it. I mean, if you're a Jordan Reed owner. I'm not sure what Zachary's ownership percentage is at right now. It's got to be climbing. But that's a guy with huge upside that.
Jason Moore
That I would have that risk.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I would rather.
Mike Wright
Yeah. If you've got someone good like Zach Ertz.
Andy Holloway
But I'm saying if you. If you're just grabbing at the bottom of the barrel for tight end and you have Reed who might give you a half, I'd probably still go, would.
Mike Wright
You play Will tie or Ty?
Andy Holloway
Ty has more upside. So I would stay with Ty.
Jason Moore
I probably would as well.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
The C.J. spiller experiment ends on IR, I believe.
Mike Wright
Early in the year. Early. I said that there must be something extracurricular going on behind the scenes here.
Jason Moore
I think IR in this CASE stands for I regret. I regret signing CJ Spiller. The Saints. It didn't work out. That's all there is to it.
Andy Holloway
Jason made some very inflammatory comments, insinuations.
Jason Moore
We won't repeat them. And if you remember them, then good for you, being a loyalist.
Mike Wright
I'm just saying I think I might have been right here because he got. He got shipped out to the ir.
Jason Moore
Not good. And then the, you know, dynasty leagues, dirt cutter, offensive coordinator at Tampa, they want to keep Doug Martin around now. Keeping Doug Martin's a lot more expensive now than it was a year, I think.
Mike Wright
Whoops. This is actually good news for this week because I've had listeners write in and say they're really worried because of his fumbles. You know, he had another fumble this last week and they're like, can I trust him? Charles Sims had such a great game. Who do I play? And you see the confidence that they want Doug Martin out there. They want him for the future. So I think you can be confident in Doug Martin this week.
Jason Moore
All right, let's run down the injuries.
Mike Wright
What's it going to be, McFly? Are you in or out?
Jason Moore
In or out? Tyrod Taylor, I know he'll be out regardless of his start for my team.
Andy Holloway
Out of your fantasy line.
Jason Moore
What's his health like?
Andy Holloway
I believe he's going to be in. I haven't got. I guess.
Mike Wright
Yeah, his. His health, I don't think is a huge question mark. He should play this week, but like Andy said, out of the roster, he was just limited.
Jason Moore
Shoulder should be okay.
Andy Holloway
Brian, he was called out a little bit by the. The coaching staff who they. They had said they. They think that he needs to be the type of quarterback who can put the game on his back. Maybe a motivation type situation. So who knows for Taylor moving forward this week how he will respond to that criticism and who knows, a little.
Jason Moore
Bit long term with Tyra Taylor.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think that's more what it is.
Jason Moore
Enter out Brian Hoyer in.
Andy Holloway
He's been cleared. I think he's in and I think he's a good play this week.
Mike Wright
I was going to say the same thing. I would have no problem streaming Hoyer this week.
Jason Moore
In or out? A.J. mcCarron, what do you think is going to happen there with the ribs?
Andy Holloway
I'm pretty sure he's in. It's his non throwing arm. Am I correct in that?
Mike Wright
Correct. Yes, it's his.
Andy Holloway
I would expect him.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he'll be in.
Jason Moore
Enter out Johnny Menzel.
Andy Holloway
That concussion added late, added yesterday. I would not Expect him to play. Getting a concussion that late?
Jason Moore
I'm going to say in.
Mike Wright
You're going to say in. Man, this is one of those 50 50s. I'm going to watch the news and see now if he's out. Andy, do you change your almost upset of the week?
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Austin Davis, Come on, Austin Davis. Do it for me. All right, running backs, Matt Forte, in or out?
Andy Holloway
He's been limited. The Bears said they hope he can go. I think he'll be in. But honestly would not shock me at all if they just say, you go, go sit down. Forte, we're gonna let Langford go.
Jason Moore
Do you think they'll go Eric Weddle on him?
Mike Wright
No, not full. Not full, Eric. Well, I agree with your take yesterday, Mike, on the the Forte Langford future situation. What you're going to see this week. If I'm a Forte owner, there are plenty of guys that I'm willing to start over Forte, I mean, I don't have him super late where I'm starting, you know, the Cameron Artist pains. But I'm starting Langford over Forte this week.
Andy Holloway
Now, it's interesting in San Diego, the situation of, I mean, normally to be a good dad, a good father, you know, it costs. There's consequences and costs and it's usually time and missing things. The consequence for Eric Weddle to be a good dad was $10,000 charged by San Diego to stay out at halftime and watch his daughter perform in the halftime performance. Shame on you, San Diego.
Mike Wright
Well, plenty of free agents won't go.
Andy Holloway
There, so shame on you.
Jason Moore
And like I said, I don't know how I feel like this is the.
Mike Wright
I believe you mean Los Angeles.
Jason Moore
This is the end of a bad road for Weddell and the Chargers. So I don't know what's taken place before then. So I'm not going to completely vilify the Chargers off of one I will kind of pronounce public move.
Mike Wright
That's why there's three of us.
Jason Moore
It doesn't look good, though.
Mike Wright
We can balance out. Yeah. We can say, oh, we're not going to throw them under the bus. And yet throw them under the bus.
Jason Moore
He's just been a great player and there's a way that you can let a great player go with class. And I agree. Finding him for watching his daughter perform at halftime and then putting him on IR against his will and telling him there's no spot on a plane, it's probably not the best way to go about it.
Andy Holloway
What was hilarious? I don't remember who tweeted it, but they were saying the reason he was fined is because they want all players in the locker room so they can make halftime adjustments that could go to victory. And they said if your halftime adjustments were so good, you wouldn't have four wins.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
What are you adjusting?
Jason Moore
Well, clearly he's moved on, too, because he made the decision to do that, so. All right. Jonathan Stewart, in or out?
Mike Wright
Out.
Andy Holloway
Out.
Jason Moore
Big salad. Sean Drone, move to ir.
Mike Wright
He's gone.
Andy Holloway
He flopped lightly in the breeze.
Jason Moore
He brought salad. Only lasts so long. Lettuce. I mean, lettuce only lasts so long.
Andy Holloway
Very good point.
Jason Moore
Sure you can, you know.
Mike Wright
Should have seen it coming.
Jason Moore
We should have seen it coming. Can't leave that out. Matt Jones, I think.
Andy Holloway
I imagine he will be out.
Mike Wright
I don't think it matters because nobody's going to start him considering the status. The status? Well, I was going to say the state. The status of the Washington starters. You don't know who to start there.
Jason Moore
It doesn't even bother me how he said that because it's got all the letters in it and it was the right word. Thank you. All right. Marshawn Lynch.
Andy Holloway
He's already out.
Jason Moore
All right. Wide receiver, Wise. Ted Ginn.
Andy Holloway
He's not practicing. The team is hopeful that he will play. My feeling is he will play in around Jason.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I think he'll be in the game. I have much less confidence with him sitting out and being injured as a. As a start this week.
Jason Moore
Alan Hearns, in or out?
Mike Wright
Doesn't matter. If he practices, he plays.
Jason Moore
Is that an in?
Mike Wright
That's the one he's in.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Danny Amadola and Julian Edelman, they're limited in practice.
Andy Holloway
I would not expect them.
Jason Moore
So I'd say out for both.
Mike Wright
Set to miss.
Jason Moore
Stevie Johnson.
Andy Holloway
Oh, he's. He's tougher coming off that. Groin injuries, finally practicing.
Mike Wright
He got back at practice last week and still didn't play. So it seems like kind of that Austin's Ferrian Jenkins move. I'm going to say he doesn't play.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to say out as well. Marcus Colson, I think he'll play. We'll see.
Jason Moore
In.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to go with. In on him.
Jason Moore
Kendall, right. In or out?
Andy Holloway
Let's say out. Man. Poor Kendall. Right. Has had a rough year. Beat up year.
Jason Moore
No real reason to get him back out there. He's a pretty good player. Just keep him healthy.
Andy Holloway
Shard Matthews still has that rib injury, I imagine. I think he's going to sit.
Mike Wright
I think he's going to be in.
Jason Moore
You think I'm gonna say out. And Kenny Stills is limited as well. By the way. I'm gonna go week for Devonte Parker.
Andy Holloway
Go with out as they even if he's healthy and can play, this is a situation where I think the team will want to watch and get Parker.
Jason Moore
Some reps. All right. Zach Miller at the tight end position didn't practice.
Mike Wright
They're hoping that he's ready to go. I think he'll be in. Yeah, I agree.
Andy Holloway
I think he'll be in.
Jason Moore
Tyler Ifer, he's back. Yes. Been cleared in Tyler Iford.
Andy Holloway
People need him time for 40 yards in the touchdown.
Jason Moore
I agree. I think it's nice for owners. We saw McCarran target the other Tyler last week to limited success due to the.
Andy Holloway
Fake Tyler.
Jason Moore
Yeah, fake Tyler.
Mike Wright
So do our starts of the week.
Jason Moore
Oh, yes, yes. We are going to get into our starts a week. Before we do that, I want to remind everybody that you can go to the website, the fantasy footballers.com. you can click the little shirts button at the top and if you want to commemorate your championship, we have a new shirt up the Foot Clan title T shirt. So if you want that trophy T shirt, it is on the website to celebrate a very, very good year.
Mike Wright
Well, help remind all of your friends every time you wear it that you are the champion.
Jason Moore
Yes. Foot Clan title. So, all right, we are going to do the starts of the week and then we'll get into the remainder of the matchups for this week. So let's do it.
Mike Wright
Starts of the week.
Jason Moore
All right, let's do it. I'll go ahead and kick it off. Please, if you guys don't mind.
Andy Holloway
Please do. I mind, but I'm going to let you do it.
Jason Moore
Thank you. Thank you. Well, my start of the week at the quarterback position is none other than Eli Manning. Well, he couldn't have looked worse last week, but this week he gets Odell Beckham Jr back. He faces a Philadelphia defense that I would have started him against regardless of the coaching situation. Now you just throw in another variable. The team is kind of in shambles and the defense has not been good. So I like Eli Manning to bounce back in a big way against Philadelphia and come out and light it up.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I like Eli Manning a lot this week for every reason you just said, especially coming off of bad games. People don't want to start him. I'm going to go with a guy based on a game and that's Drew Brees. Drew Brees, Atlanta has statistically a good passing Defense, they've had some low scoring games, but Vegas has this game as a super high scoring game. It's the last game of the year. I think this is going to be a game where you just have offenses putting points on the board left and right. I want pieces of that. Drew Brees, Willie Snead seems healthy.
Jason Moore
Brandon Cooks is a breeze.
Mike Wright
Brandon Cooks has been on fire. You've got good tight ends there. So give me breeze this week and.
Andy Holloway
I will take the yin to your yang.
Mike Wright
I hear it.
Andy Holloway
And I will go with Matt Ryan. The over under, like Jason said, is just too delicious to sit Matt Ryan down. We've seen the Saints allow multiple touchdowns in games. I mean games of four touchdowns. We remember the Saints versus the Giants. It's just happening weekly. To the Saints defense.
Jason Moore
Two traditionally prolific fantasy quarterbacks facing off in a meaningless game.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
To finish the year, just let it rip. To finish the year on a high note.
Andy Holloway
Plus the small caveat of maybe the Falcons with nothing to play for, maybe they force feed Julio Jones for that catch record.
Jason Moore
It's very good for a quarterbacks production to force feed Julio Jones.
Andy Holloway
So they should have figured that out earlier.
Mike Wright
You know, Matt Ryan has, has fallen. We were looking today, the roster in the MFL 10, I won. I had two quarterbacks. They were Andy Dalton and Matt Ryan. And then the surprise of that was that I took Matt Ryan in the seventh and Andy Dalton in the 15th.
Andy Holloway
I was like Matt Ryan has been.
Mike Wright
Yeah. He was my biggest quarterback disappointment this year.
Andy Holloway
Sad times. My running back.
Jason Moore
I'll just do mine real quick because it ties into that game.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Jason Moore
So I'm going to go with Tim Hightower if there's any doubt that he's the guy.
Andy Holloway
C.J.
Jason Moore
Spiller is on IR and last week happened, okay, 27, 27 for 1, 22 and 2, 3 for 47 through the air. And no good reason not to give him a monster workload. So I love Tim Hightower starting with confidence. Start him over almost any running back that you have. I think the only people I would start ahead of them would be Devontae Freeman, Adrian Peterson and you know, right on the fence with probably Gurley and maybe one more. But Hightower is at the very, very.
Mike Wright
Top of my RB1 consensus on our rankings this week. He's number seven. So if you have three running backs of the top six, then go ahead and start those guys.
Jason Moore
Right, right.
Andy Holloway
Sure. My running back start of the week, Rashad Jennings.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Andy Holloway
Rashad Jennings has had over 100 total yards the last three weeks. Philadelphia is 29th against the run. They're allowing 130 yards a game on the ground. They, the Giants have finally, I mean, we're way to be a little bit too late here, New York, but they've finally, finally realized maybe we should let a good player get into the flow of the game and get him some, some real carries. Now. I mean, this one's a little riskier, clearly, but you're in a situation where there's just not a, there's not a lot of great matchups for the middle tier guys that I'm liking. And Rashad Jennings is one that jumps out. So I like him this week.
Mike Wright
Yeah, one guy that I'm going to start this week, I actually have him slated one spot ahead of Tim Hightower. Who I love is Darren McFadden. Walk DMC himself.
Jason Moore
Walk DMC.
Mike Wright
So Darren McFadden, casually stroll, casually stroll DMC. Darren McFadden. Last week I was, I was touting the fact that he had two back to back 100 yard games and Buffalo had given up four 100 yard games in a row. The trend was broken as he only got 99 yards.
Andy Holloway
What a disappointment.
Mike Wright
He did not get into that triple digits. But this week he's facing Washington. He basically has 300 yard games in a row. Washington is resting their starters on both side of the ball. You know, towards the end of this game, you're not going to, you're not going to have their best defensive players out there. Washington doesn't need a win. The Cowboys need some respect. And I think it's going to come through the legs of Darren McFadden.
Jason Moore
I think Dallas right through his legs.
Andy Holloway
Dallas is going to be interesting for the running back position this offseason. They were very interesting last year and nothing actually really happened. They added Darren McFadden, but will they, will they do it again? Will they punt, roll the dice and say, Darren McFadden, you're our guy, or.
Jason Moore
Will they shoplift a guy from another team or something? Yeah, Jordan Matthews is my wide receiver. Start of the week, I'm hopping into the flames.
Andy Holloway
You got to hit that button. Oh, the garbage land can.
Jason Moore
Got no problem with that. I think Eli Manning's gonna light it up. I'm sure there'll be plenty of time for Jordan Matthews to get involved late the game, after the game with Jordan Matthews, Listen, whether or not, I don't care where he gets them. 8 for 159 and 1, 6 for 104 and 1 the last two games. Now he faces the 25th best defense against wide receivers in New York.
Andy Holloway
He should be good to go 25th worst, right?
Mike Wright
Yes.
Jason Moore
Yes. I'm sorry. Well, no, I'm right.
Andy Holloway
25Th.
Jason Moore
You're messing it up.
Andy Holloway
Well, because it just sounds like 25th.
Jason Moore
Ranked defense against fantasy wide receivers in New York. If the Saints Falcons game is a fantasy bonanza, then the Eagles Giants game could be a fantasy bonanza as well.
Andy Holloway
I'll tell you what Jordan Matthews hates, and that's litter.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
He does not like garbage. So he picks it up and he carries it into the end zone with him and scores.
Jason Moore
Stores all his fantasy points in one of those like the squirrel pouches till.
Andy Holloway
The end of the game cheeks. Mm.
Jason Moore
And then at the very end of the game pouches.
Mike Wright
The cheeks. You could think of the cheeks. They were squirrel pouches. Like kangaroo.
Andy Holloway
You're touching your cheeks.
Mike Wright
Literally. These. These squirrel pouches here.
Andy Holloway
The squirrel is not a marsupial.
Mike Wright
All right, I'll go with my wide receiver start of the week. Pooped in his big boy pants.
Jason Moore
All right, all right. Moving on.
Andy Holloway
What's this thing on my face with this pouch?
Mike Wright
I'll tell you who doesn't mouth.
Jason Moore
It's a mouth pouch. You don't know what a mouth.
Andy Holloway
Jordan.
Mike Wright
Breaking news. Jordan Matthews has mouth patches.
Jason Moore
Patches.
Mike Wright
Dude, we are getting. All right, let's talk about.
Jason Moore
Let it go.
Mike Wright
My favorite guy. For any trivia, it's Eric Decker. This week's start of the week. I'm pretty confident he's going to get a touchdown this week because he does it every week. He's only had three games this year without a touchdown going up in a game that they must win to get into the playoffs. Against the Buffalo Bills, whose past defense has not been the best, I expect him to do what he does, which is going to get 75 yards and a touchdown, have a great game. He is. If you're talking about, you know, your third wide receiver, your flex option wide receiver too. He's worthy there. He's just so consistent. It's hard to do any kind of a flyer over a guy who has been that solid, start him get a championship.
Jason Moore
If you were in a half point or full point PPR league this year and you got to flex Eric Decker every week, you were living large.
Mike Wright
Eric Decker, right now in a half point PPR is the wide receiver 12.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
He is a number one wide receiver.
Jason Moore
And we read it yesterday, he also gives you a very consistent line every week. It's not an up and down desean Jackson type of line. It's just a Involved touchdown in a half point ppr.
Mike Wright
How many single digit, like nine or less.
Jason Moore
I'm going to get zero.
Mike Wright
You are correct.
Jason Moore
Yeah, zero. Single digit game.
Mike Wright
Not had a single digit game.
Jason Moore
All that's why I said flex wise. Oh my goodness. I mean wide receiver two, you're fine, but flex.
Mike Wright
Yeah. What do you want better than a guy guaranteeing you double digits?
Andy Holloway
My wide receiver start of the week. I'm also reaching a little bit lower for this guy with Nasty, Nasty Nate Washington. Cecil Schwartz has been ruled out for the Texans. The Texans are playing a game that it's, it's not a must win, but they are playing for the playoffs.
Jason Moore
It's a must win. Well, I'm saying as of right now it's a must win to make the playoffs.
Andy Holloway
Sure, if they lose and then 15 other things happen, then they're out of the playoffs. But so they're playing to win is what I mean.
Jason Moore
That is actually.
Andy Holloway
So they are playing to win. They're playing against Jacksonville. The Jacksonville defense, similar to the Saints defense, likes to allow a large amount of points on a frequent basis. And so I just, I like Nate Washington, especially as a guy that I can almost guarantee is on your waiver wire. If you are, you don't like your options. I think Nasty Nate could give you some nice upside.
Mike Wright
When Cecil Schwartz was out earlier this year, when he was out earlier this year, you saw nasty Nate Washington have some great games and I believe he had them with Brian Hoyer who's back. And I'm going to make this official. I'm changing my stream of the week from Sam Bradford to Brian Hoyer. He is my stream this week. I would stream him over Bradford, my.
Andy Holloway
Tight end start of the week, Zach Ertz. People listen, love it. Listen, Zach Ertz, this is what he has done the last three weeks. 98 yards, 78 yards, 122 yards. He's, he's broken out. I mean this is a, a pretty quiet breakout that I think that is not getting enough due even from myself. I will, I'll put some, I will shoulder some of this blame. Should have been pushing him harder. He's a guy that we have, we loved in the off season. He was a top tight end target for us before he got hurt. So he's really getting it going and I expect that to continue in a game that could have a lot of points scored. So Zach Ertz, my tight end start of the week.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he's a talented guy. Him and Andy, start of the week were the two tight ends preseason that we were talking about the most. So there's a segue.
Jason Moore
Okay. Yeah. My tight end start of the week is Travis Kelsey. He's taken on Oakland. He's only started right now in 58% of leagues, and last week he had. Last two weeks, he's had six catches each week. He actually got in the end zone last week. We know we had high hopes for Kelsey, but that doesn't mean you can't roll him up out there as a reliable target. Right Now, Oakland is 30th against the tight end, and this is an important.
Mike Wright
Game for Kansas City. They can take the division only if they win this game. So I like that start with Travis Kelsey.
Andy Holloway
What's hilarious for Travis Kelce, he was a guy that I loved. I tried to get him everywhere, and yet I felt disappointed. But the guy on the year 71, 865 and 5. I mean, that's. That's a good tight end stat line. But you're just disappointed.
Jason Moore
Well, you're disappointed simply because you thought top three maybe.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
But it is a great year. And I cannot unsee the windmill air guitar on the sideline from week one. That pretty. It should have been given bonus points.
Mike Wright
In fantasy leagues for sure. At least a plus two.
Jason Moore
If you haven't seen that, make sure you look it up.
Mike Wright
Travis Kelsey is the number six tight end right now. He's the top half.
Andy Holloway
That's where you're like. You're like, man, I think you're more.
Jason Moore
Disappointed than owners probably are because sure, unless they drafted him really high.
Mike Wright
All right. The guy that I'm going to start this week is really a boat of confidence because he.
Jason Moore
A boat of confidence.
Andy Holloway
That's what I heard.
Jason Moore
As opposed to a vote of confidence.
Andy Holloway
No, you're coming in on your boat.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You're dinghy.
Mike Wright
Ride it in. It's a canoe.
Jason Moore
So you're on a boat of. You're on a boat of confidence.
Andy Holloway
The canoe of confidence.
Mike Wright
The confidence canoe. The confidence canoe is coming in and guess who I got on it with me?
Jason Moore
Who?
Mike Wright
Benjamin Watson. Well, he's a better rower than I am.
Jason Moore
Better be a big canoe.
Mike Wright
Yes, it's a very big canoe.
Jason Moore
It's kind of need a bigger boat.
Mike Wright
It's not confident. All right, so here's the deal. Last week he came out one reception for five yards. If you're in a half point ppr, that's one total point.
Jason Moore
That is not a boat of confidence.
Mike Wright
That is not a boat of confidence.
Andy Holloway
You're out of the canoe, baby.
Mike Wright
The truth is he has been very consistent for a long time. He's involved in the passing game. There's going to be a lot of points coming up. And if you watched the game, this is one of those things you don't see on the stat line. He had several plays uncharacteristic of Benjamin Watson, where he dropped good passes and that he has very good outlier performance. Just an outlier performance. I mean, he was still involved in the game. He wasn't. It's not one of those things where it was like they were running the ball so much with Tim Hightower where Benjamin Watson couldn't be valuable. He was actually very used. He had himself a bad game. I'm fine playing him against Atlanta.
Andy Holloway
The canoe of confidence.
Mike Wright
I like confidence canoe, but either way.
Jason Moore
I like boat of confidence because it sounds ridiculous.
Andy Holloway
Some kind of a water vessel.
Mike Wright
Fantasy forecast.
Jason Moore
Mouth. Mouth pouches. Mouth pouches.
Mike Wright
Also, for. For reference, I was saying bode. A bode. Bode.
Jason Moore
B, O, D, E. That's not any better.
Andy Holloway
That's not the phrase.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that.
Jason Moore
No, it isn't.
Andy Holloway
Bode is.
Mike Wright
No, it's not the phrase. I'll give you that.
Jason Moore
Boat of confidence.
Mike Wright
No. But when you know what is, what does bode mean? Do you guys.
Jason Moore
I feel heavy seas.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Bode is negative.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Bode is to be an omen of heavy seas. Boated trouble for the small craft to.
Mike Wright
Be an omen of a particular outcome. That's what the definition is.
Andy Holloway
It's generally used in a negative context.
Jason Moore
I would say, grammatically, it was right on par with most of us.
Andy Holloway
It does. You can say something bodes well.
Jason Moore
Something bodes well.
Mike Wright
There you go.
Jason Moore
But you don't have a boat of.
Andy Holloway
And you definitely said boat.
Mike Wright
No. All right. Hey, we got the confidence canoe. We got the confidence canoe out of it. The confidence canoe is gonna be riding into town often.
Jason Moore
As long as it can distract from the mouth patch.
Andy Holloway
Me and Ben Watts.
Jason Moore
All right. Fantasy forecast. Down the stream, the lions take on the bears. All right, well, we've got Stafford. Like Stafford this week.
Mike Wright
Yes, I enjoy Stafford very much. Getting back to this, I want a Twitter poll up today of which is worse, the boat of confidence or the squirrel pouches. Mouth pouch. We'll go to Twitter today. We'll see bigger flub. Yeah. Sorry. Go on. What. What. What's this? Is this a fantasy football show?
Jason Moore
I thought the. The Twitter poll would be more ingenious. I thought that was the.
Mike Wright
All right.
Jason Moore
You couldn't script it.
Mike Wright
All right.
Jason Moore
The Stafford you were talking about. Matt. Matthew Stafford.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Stafford has been. He's been great since the offensive change. We've talked about it time and time again. Calvin Johnson finally showed up again. I just, I have, I have confidence starting Stafford this week. I know it's on the road and a division game, but I'm giving. I have a spot reserved in my canoe for Matt Stafford.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I like the Lions this week. You know, they're actually the underdog in this game. This would be my almost upset of the week. I'm not feeling the vibes of the Bears right now. Forte's up in the air. Alshon Jeffries out. Zach Miller is not at practice. And you got the Lions who have been playing much better football on both sides of the ball the second half of the year. So for me, I'm not huge. I'm not a huge fan of almost all of the Bear starters. The only guy that I like would be Langford. Forte is Cutler.
Jason Moore
You can't start this. Doesn't have weapons, right?
Mike Wright
Yeah, no, no, no options to throw to, obviously.
Jason Moore
Martellus Bennett, Zach Miller. Zach Miller is the one guy that I like.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
If he plays Bears, and I think he will, and he had. He led them in receiving last week. On the other side, like you said, Megatron, Golden Tate's been great. What about the running backs there? Mike and I have a water bet that we made at the beginning of the year and we said, what second half of the season. We bet Abdullah Joik Bell. Now, we thought both of them would be a lot better than they are, but that thing is really close.
Andy Holloway
This bet that it. Every day it reminds me a little bit more of our Dwayne Bowe, Brian Hart line bet of. It's just trash.
Jason Moore
Trash bet.
Andy Holloway
It's a trash bet.
Jason Moore
It is a trash bet. All right, Eagles.
Mike Wright
I would start the Lions defense, though, in this game. I'm not afraid of the Bears.
Jason Moore
There you go. The Eagles and the New York Giants. We've talked a little bit about this in all of our starts with, with Mr. Jordan Matthews in this game, Eli Manning in this game. Plenty of fantasy relevant players essentially in this game that we see, you know, the Eagles and the Giants are bottom, you know, third in run defense, you know, the bottom, almost the worst two teams in past defense. This is just set up to be a high scoring affair, is it not?
Andy Holloway
I would completely agree with that. In the. An interesting thing to watch will be the Philadelphia running backs. Chip Kelly is gone. Pat Shermer is in. He will. He'll be taking over as the head coach. Is he going to make any kind of rocking of the boat or is it going to be the status quo?
Mike Wright
I would guess you're going to see DeMarco Murray. That's what he's going to get. The. He's going to get the chance, the workload of the running back position. But given that they haven't had a lot of time to change schemes and do those things, I don't know how much success he's going to have. And I think this game goes to the air pretty, pretty, you know, early in the game and stays there. Sure.
Andy Holloway
But as far as pass catchers, you know, Beckham's clear. It's a start every week. I do like Reuben Randall, Zach Ertz. Like I said, I have a lot of confidence in him and I like Will Ty. He disappointed last week, but that's because the entire Giants offense was a disappointment. So I'm good rolling Ty back out this week.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I have a hunch about DeMarco Murray this week, that he's going to have a very big, big game.
Andy Holloway
Oh.
Jason Moore
So I'm going to need to reflect that in my rankings because I think Murray, you saw a little bit of it last week. More involvement, passing game involvement.
Mike Wright
I don't.
Jason Moore
Ertz can catch. No one else can.
Mike Wright
I believe demarco Murray will have the opportunity. So if he's running well, you know, if he's got a. Got a nice confidence boost based on the.
Jason Moore
The culture change. Yeah. Yeah, he could. All right. Tampa goes on. Goes to take on the Panthers. The Panthers are still fighting to hold on to home field throughout the playoffs there. They're one game ahead of the Cardinals with the Cardinals have the tiebreaker. So this is a very important game. This game's in Carolina and they're heavily favored.
Andy Holloway
Good thing they're favored so much. Ten and a half points.
Jason Moore
I think as Cardinals fans here, we'd be more excited if they weren't playing Tampa at home.
Mike Wright
Yes, correct. It would be great if they were in Tampa and go bucks or playing someone else.
Jason Moore
So that being said, we talked about it earlier in the week. Without Jonathan Stewart, the team looks different. In my opinion. Artist Payne is not a bad running back. He's just an inexperienced running back. They haven't run the same system and the same play action in the same zone read type of runs.
Mike Wright
So Fozzie Whitaker is still out, right?
Andy Holloway
He had a high ankle spray.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's actually. He's definitely going to be out, I think. So it'll be the artist pain show. So I think you can definitely stream artist pain this week. I got no problem with that. It's just a matter of the success of that offense. I think Cam Newton's a great start. I think we all have him at number one.
Andy Holloway
I do. I have Newton at number one right now. But I'm actually thinking about this. If Ted Ginn is not fully ready to go, can we really have Cam Newton as the number one quarterback? Because the, if you remember that the first half of the year Cam Newton was good, just good. He was solid. It was the second half of the year when Ted Ginn really started to come onto the scene. That's when Cam Newton started putting up the video game, Madden type scores. So if Ted Ginn's not ready to go, does that. Do you have to adjust Cam at all?
Mike Wright
It's a worthy thought, but I think you have other options that have risen up. Devin Funches can perform. Jericho Khatri has been okay. I mean, you've got other weapons there. If you were talking about one of the top guys.
Jason Moore
Breaking news, Johnny Manzo will not play. Yeah, I am formally retracting my almost upset of the week. I am keeping it on the Ravens and the Bengals. All right, sorry guys.
Andy Holloway
That's. That's good stuff.
Mike Wright
Yeah. So if you've got Cam Newton and another great option, then maybe you can look to that if Gin is out. But would you say so? Let me give you an example. So Cam Newton, let's say Gin is out. Would you start Eli Manning over him against Philadelphia?
Andy Holloway
Probably not from a confidence level, but I mean, that's a good comparison. How about Cam Newton or Carson Palmer?
Mike Wright
I would probably go. Cam Carson I still think is going to have a decent game, but he is playing against the Seattle secondary which he carved up last.
Andy Holloway
He destroyed on the road last time.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but I would, I would go.
Jason Moore
Out and Stewart's out. I would take Carson, but it's close and I have no problem with anybody starting Cam Newton, regardless of whether Gins in or out.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Jason Moore
Cam Newton could get you 90 on the ground in it in the blink of an eye and a rushing, touchdown, passing touchdown and be fine.
Andy Holloway
My point was not more so. I'm going to sit Cam Newton. If Ginn is out. It was just. We all have him at number one. Can you keep him at number one if Gin is even if Gin plays, I mean, he's banged up.
Mike Wright
You've got Mike Evans in this game on the other side of the ball going up against Josh Norman. We've seen him shut guys down who are Much more talented.
Jason Moore
It's interesting because I don't have the same perspective as you do on Mike Evans and the Josh Norman thing.
Mike Wright
Tell me yours.
Jason Moore
Mike Evans is humongous. That's my perspective. I think Evans is humongous and will be targeted a ton because they'll be down. So I don't really have any problem with Mike Evans against Norman. I mean, you saw last week, I mean Julio Jones. Mike Evans is not Julio Jones, but he's enormous like Julio Jones.
Andy Holloway
We all, we've seen Mike Evans play against Josh Norman though. Yeah, it did not go well.
Jason Moore
I agree. I know. I just. When I've seen Norman play, I've seen James Jones catch passes on Josh Norman because he's big and I think Evans is better than James Jones.
Andy Holloway
He's not in. No quarterback is invincible. But the last time they played.
Jason Moore
I have no problem with doubt. I'm not saying you shouldn't have doubt. I mean you have. If you have other options, go ahead. Stay away from Josh Norman. It's been a wise move. Fantasy owners, he was three.
Andy Holloway
Mike Evans, last time they played Carolina was three for 32 and that was with eight targets.
Jason Moore
Okay, so he'll be targeted again.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And I'm with you. I'm still playing him. But it's a similar thing of Julio Jones. I'm going to play Julio, but I, maybe I need to adjust somewhere else in my lineup because I'm expecting Evans to have a lower ceiling this week.
Jason Moore
That makes sense. Lower ceiling type of game. You know, the run defense for Carolina is fifth in the, in the league. So Jason, how do you feel about Dougie Martin?
Mike Wright
I'm okay with Doug Martin this week because I don't think you're going to have a better option. You know, if you were lucky enough to pick up guys like Tim Hightower, then it's, it's an easy call. Tim Hightower will be above Doug Martin, but I think for most players you're going to have to play Doug Martin if he's on your team and he should be okay. I don't expect him to have a big blow up game against the number five rushing defense. But I don't think the fumble is going to stop him from getting the rock. You know, they want that rushing title. He's close to the rushing title and so they should get him involved in this game.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the second half of the year he's been great, Doug Martin. I mean he's, he has been playing against lower level rushing defenses. So this will be a nice, nice test. For him. But I'm. I'm still comfortable starting him before I.
Jason Moore
Move on to the Rams 49ers game. If Ginn starts, do you play again?
Mike Wright
Ooh.
Jason Moore
Because people have to be a little sour after last week, but he was on quite the roll.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
And if they're going to hang on to this division lead, he's going to have to play a part.
Mike Wright
I'm guessing, in your championship game that you've got better options than a hurt Gin. That's my guess. And I would. I would probably rank Gin as, you know, a low end wide receiver, too. And in a championship game, you probably have two or maybe three guys that are above. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
For me last week where I was willing to play him as my wide receiver, too, as I shoot for the moon because I want to win. I'm not comfortable with him there. I would flex him, though.
Jason Moore
Okay. The Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers this week. This is the case. Keenum Gabbard Fest. Another.
Andy Holloway
Another game that just America start of the week.
Jason Moore
I mean, the over under this game has to be the lowest.
Andy Holloway
I've never seen that.
Jason Moore
That's the lowest in that I've seen this year at 37 and a half.
Andy Holloway
37 and a half.
Mike Wright
Wow.
Jason Moore
And I might take the under. So really, from a fantasy football perspective, there is nobody to start in this game outside of. Let me. Obviously Gurley. Gurley's in your lineup. And then I'll throw in and like A maybe Vance McDonald if you need a streaming tight end.
Andy Holloway
Sure. So. No. No Dwan Harris Love after he had him.
Jason Moore
No, he had a good week. No, he had a good week.
Mike Wright
So I still think he's a talented player.
Jason Moore
Rather than asking me, are you endorsing him?
Andy Holloway
No, I'm asking you.
Jason Moore
I do. I do not think I would play him. No.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. There's. There's other guys that are likely available, but let's say there is nothing and you're decimated.
Jason Moore
Yeah. At least you got a starter.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Jason Moore
Right. So, yeah, I agree.
Andy Holloway
He is a starting running back.
Jason Moore
Cameron Artist Payne or Duan Harris? Artist Payne, Christine Michael or dejuan Harris.
Andy Holloway
I might go Harris.
Mike Wright
I would go Harris there.
Andy Holloway
I think I'll go Harris.
Jason Moore
Andre Ellington or Duan Harris?
Mike Wright
Harris. Harris is going to get the ball more than Ellington. More opportunity.
Jason Moore
Charles Sims or Dwan Harris?
Andy Holloway
Sims.
Mike Wright
I would go.
Andy Holloway
I'll take Sims.
Mike Wright
Sims can get Sims does it? Well, I mean, he's done it all year and been valuable, but the problem is Carolina. Yeah. I would go Sims there You got to go a little bit more.
Jason Moore
All right. Oakland Raiders heading to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs. Chiefs are favored by about a touchdown in this game. Should be a cold game. Should be a game that I expect the Chiefs to take care of business trying to win this division title. But who knows, really? I mean, the game has Crabtree, Cooper, Carr. We got to talk about those three guys because if I could have a.
Mike Wright
Double set of the week at wide receiver, it would be Amari Cooper. Watching the game last week, Amari Cooper could barely move. He was limping his routes and he could only cut in one direction because of his foot. And now he's going up against the Kansas City secondary. We saw him do great against them early in the year when he was healthy. And I think he could do that again, but only if he's healthy. And maybe this week he gets rest and a miracle cure on that foot. But he has looked progressively worse just physically, just health wise on that foot these last few games. You know, they ended up taking him out for most of the fourth quarter last week because he just looked so unhealthy running around. I haven't seen the practice reports on Cooper specifically, but I do not have high hopes for Amari Cooper against the Kansas City.
Jason Moore
We've talked a lot about the Raiders run defense and its improvement in the second half of the season. What does that mean for Chuck Hendrick west in this game? Because west was okay last week.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he was disappointing considering the matchup, but west is still a guy that he's getting. He's the primary ball carrier and he's, he's very talented catching the ball. He's, he's a, he's a weekly start.
Jason Moore
Would you play Carlos Williams this week against the jets or Char Kendrick west in this game against the Raiders?
Mike Wright
West, I would play Williams.
Jason Moore
Okay. And then Carr was the set of the week for, I believe, Jason.
Andy Holloway
For me.
Jason Moore
For you. Okay.
Andy Holloway
The. The Chiefs defense is balling out me now with Smith.
Jason Moore
Your. Smith was a stream.
Andy Holloway
Not for me. Oh, was he?
Jason Moore
I think he was your stream.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yes. No, you're right because I, I would say that I like him. I don't know why he wouldn't have been my.
Jason Moore
So you're on the side where the Chiefs take care of business in this game? Absolutely. Macklin, you're starting. Kelsey, he's my start of the week. So the other, the last person that's worth talking about in this game, The Chiefs are 12th against the run Latavius Murray, who's coming off one of his better games, but he took advantage of a San Diego defense that has been known to give it up to the run. Murray, I think, has an okay baseline.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Murray's a guy that you. You have to start. You have to adjust your expectations this week. But he's a starting running back who's still alive in week 17 and gets. It can get a very high workload. So I'm still going to start him.
Jason Moore
All right. The Chargers head to Denver to take on the Broncos. Guys, give me some perspective on the fantasy implications of this game. You have Rivers, obviously, Woodhead, who he was okay last week. Really. No other pass catchers. Gates has fallen out of favor with fantasy owners. I know that. So from the San Diego side, start there.
Andy Holloway
So I'll start with Woodhead. And I think Woodhead was actually good last week. For some reason not known to us, the Chargers were forcing Donald Brown into the game similar to what they were doing with Melvin Gordon of. We got to get this guy going. We got to get Donald Brown going for some reason.
Jason Moore
Well, the reason is you're not going to give Danny Woodhead the ball between the tackles 15 times. That's just excited. It's not going to happen.
Andy Holloway
I completely agree with that.
Mike Wright
You should in week 17. I mean, they won't. But I'm just saying, if I was the coach, I would.
Andy Holloway
I got to look up this ball.
Mike Wright
He looked so great.
Jason Moore
Why would you do that?
Mike Wright
Because he is your best ball carrier through the tackles. He's better than Donald Brown and he's better on the field. He's better in pass protection. He confuses the defense. You don't know whether you're passing or running if you're using the same guy. If I'm the coach, I do it all that being said, they're not going to do it. But they, they, they did in the fourth quarter. You saw, I think you saw that over 90 yards in the fourth quarter, right through the area ground.
Andy Holloway
I don't recall. I know that Woodhead was barely into the game until the fourth quarter, and then they started having success. Here's Donald Brown's stat line carrying the ball last week. 14 carries. That's good. You know, at 14, he's got to be running well. 17 yards.
Mike Wright
He looked bad every time he touched the ball. I remember texting you guys, like, why is Donald Brown in the game? What are you doing?
Jason Moore
Every time I see Donald Brown stat lines, I think about how much he must appreciate Trent Richardson. Trent Richardson got him so much money because he compared held up against Trent Richardson, who was not an NFL running back, we just didn't know it yet. He looked great.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, because everyone's watching going, wow, he is so fast. Trent Richardson's good and this guy is even better.
Jason Moore
Yep. Donald Brown, other side of the ball. Brock Osweiler, you've got, you know, Anderson, who's running very well at this time of the year, but limited carries. Hillman got more work. Anderson was by far more efficient, including a big touchdown run last week. Demarys Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, those guys were on and off the field a little bit last week, banged up. You saw Norwood catch some passes. And then you've got the tight end situation there where, by the way, Vernon Davis saw like five snaps.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's. That's not been working out for them for, for Detroit. Sanders, Thomas, start him every week. Of the running backs, I prefer CJ Anderson this week, and I honestly think that Anderson can be an okay play this week. The Chargers are bad run defense. They have been bad all year long. Love it. So Anderson's. Anderson's fine play this week. The thing that I wanted to flip back to real quick on Antonio Gates is, is this Antonio Gates last game?
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
You think he comes back?
Mike Wright
I think he comes back.
Jason Moore
I do as well. But you've seen an offense that, since they lost Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson, his involvement, you know, they can take him out of the game. Basically, they can take Gates out of the game because he's not. He's not going to separate. And I've seen this before. You know, they'll throw a couple guys, jam him at the line. He's not a goal line threat, and then all of a sudden you've lost Antonio Gates. His value.
Mike Wright
I am, personally, I'm fine rolling Gates this week. He definitely pooped in his big boy pants last week, but that was coming off of three games in a row with six receptions.
Jason Moore
Are the Chiefs still number one against tight ends? The Chiefs, they were number one against tight ends for a very long period of time.
Mike Wright
For fantasy scoring, fantasy wise, yes, I believe that's correct. So, I mean, obviously not. Not a.
Jason Moore
No, they're not. They've given up a lot now. So.
Mike Wright
The Chiefs have lately.
Jason Moore
Well, hold on a second.
Mike Wright
The Chiefs are.
Jason Moore
I didn't mean the Chiefs.
Mike Wright
You did mean the Chiefs. Not the Broncos.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I meant the Chiefs when I said the number one. I don't know why I said the Chiefs, though. It's the Broncos that they're obviously playing, and the Broncos aren't that good against them. I had Chiefs still In my head.
Mike Wright
My apologies. No, yeah, that makes sense. The Chiefs are still very good, but I believe you were looking up probably the Broncos, how they defense is so good and the Broncos, they're playing in two games.
Jason Moore
Who was the guy that played in all the games last week? Remember in the beginning of the year, he played in every game. Was it Hearns?
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
Oh, who was that? Every team you give.
Jason Moore
Eddie Royal. I don't remember who it was, but my apologies.
Mike Wright
I got Devin funches.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I was Devin punches, and I got us off track there. I apologize. I was looking up the wrong team. So.
Mike Wright
Yeah, no worries.
Jason Moore
The Broncos are 19th against the tight end, so I'm fine with what you said.
Andy Holloway
So you go, so Gates, we like him this week.
Mike Wright
I like him. I would play him over Reed.
Andy Holloway
Yes, I would play him over Reed this week.
Jason Moore
All right, let's talk about the Seahawks and the Cardinals. Another important game. Cardinals, if they can get this win in the Panthers somehow lose to Tampa, they'll take home field advantage. Bruce Darians has already said they're coming out. They're playing other players. It's another game. Treating game 17 like game one, I think, is what he said.
Mike Wright
So now Michael Floyd has a knee problem. Sat out practice. We don't know much about it. He's still expected to play and start. That. That worries me just a little because, you know, I hadn't heard anything about that. And then we see that happening. It gives me a slight, you know, whenever I see an injury or a.
Jason Moore
Missed practice, I think he might sit because of that.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that would be great.
Jason Moore
But that's what I think will happen.
Mike Wright
And even if he doesn't, whenever I see an injury or a mispractice for any of the Cardinals receivers, what that does to me is it shifts my. Like, it gives me a bump up to the other guys. And I just think they'll be more involved because we've really seen that play out this year. Whoever the injured guy is or whoever's missed practice doesn't perform as well this week and they kind of gain more to other guys.
Jason Moore
I would bump Fitz and John Brown up in this game. I completely agree with you. They're not going to take chances with a guy as valuable as Floyd. That offense with Floyd working, playing at max capacity is important.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
So I would agree with you completely there.
Andy Holloway
What? So let's say Floyd does play, though. Then how would you. How are you ordering the receivers?
Jason Moore
I would play. I'd order them. John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd.
Mike Wright
That is my.
Andy Holloway
So you're you're taking this injury for me. I'm taking it as it's just like a day off.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
And it could. And it could be. But the truth is, is that with these three receivers, you could order them in any three. You could say Michael Floyd fits John Brown or any direction, and you have no idea what's right. That's where I try to let the news kind of dictate the order.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Because the best it can do.
Mike Wright
Kind of a hint.
Jason Moore
Yeah. The wind blows in one different direction a little bit. And that's the best guess that you have. So right now we don't really know enough about his status to really say one way or the other whether he'll go, but you need to pay attention to it.
Mike Wright
Yeah. We're not going to have. We're not going to be on the tomorrow with a new show as it's New Year's. But the practice reports are available. If he is, you know, if he misses practice again, then it's not a day off, it's not a day of rest. It's a serious problem.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And it is listed as an injury. So we'll see what happens.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's. Let's stare into the fire.
Jason Moore
I'm starting David Johnson.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm starting David Johnson too, but let's.
Jason Moore
He's too involved in the passing game to sit him down.
Andy Holloway
Stare into the fires. Doug Baldwin. What do you think about In Fuego himself, Doug Baldwin this week?
Mike Wright
I'd play him.
Jason Moore
Yep.
Mike Wright
I don't, I don't see how you sit a guy that has been as good as Doug Baldwin, even in a good matchup or a bad matchup.
Andy Holloway
Are you expecting, Are you expecting a big game?
Mike Wright
Absolutely not. But I expect him to get one touchdown. That's kind of how I feel.
Jason Moore
What I thought you were going to ask me is whether I thought Peterson would shadow him or something. And that's not going to happen with the way Baldwin plays.
Andy Holloway
Peterson will not shadow.
Jason Moore
I don't think Peterson will shadow him the whole game. No.
Andy Holloway
And what. Why?
Jason Moore
Because Baldwin moves around into the slot. I don't think Peterson's going to follow him everywhere. He's a smaller guy. He's not a normal, prolific, number one outside type receiver. I just think he'll be on him some and he will not be on him some. So could be wrong. So Russell Wilson, how much is he ticked down in this game with the Cardinals at home? Cardinals defense, you got to.
Andy Holloway
I took him down a good bit.
Jason Moore
Do you expect the pass rush to get to him like the Rams did last week.
Andy Holloway
It's. It sure seems so.
Mike Wright
We sacked Aaron Rodgers at home nine times last week and now you've got Russell Wilson.
Jason Moore
The Cardinals did.
Mike Wright
Yeah, the Cardinals did. Sorry, a little homer ism there. But that, that is part of why Russell Wilson was my sit of the week. Going to try to get a successful set of the week on Russell Wilson. You know, there's other options out there that I would stream over playing guy. I would.
Andy Holloway
Brian Hoyer or Russell Wilson.
Mike Wright
That's a really good question. If I were to have to make that decision between those two players alone, I would play Brian Hoyer. I really would. I know that. I know.
Andy Holloway
So then Eli Manning or Russell Wilson.
Mike Wright
Would be Eli Manning for sure.
Jason Moore
All right, so let me give you a couple other Russell Wilson's. Will you play Matt Stafford over him?
Mike Wright
No, I don't. The Chicago defense has a pretty good past defense on the year.
Jason Moore
Did you just say Sam Bradford?
Andy Holloway
No. No. You did.
Jason Moore
Would you play Bradford over him?
Mike Wright
I would not play Bradford over him. Because of the coaching change. We just don't know what is going to happen. Don't know if they're going to come out and try to be a running team. It's just a question.
Jason Moore
Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would play Fitzmagic over Russell Wilson. Oh, I mean I've got Russell Wilson.
Jason Moore
We got to figure that out.
Mike Wright
I've got him as a quarterback one, but he's, he's a lower end. And I just think there are other guys in your championship week that you probably have on your roster that are good. These examples here, you probably have a Fitzpatrick type of player or an Eli Manning on the team with Russell Wilson and I would shift over there.
Andy Holloway
The biggest question to me, if you're looking at do I start Russell Wilson? What do you believe their offensive line is? If, if Seattle's offensive line is back to being very porous and not a strength of their team combined with Arizona, the way that they looked last week, I mean, so that's. This is ultimate recency bias for me.
Jason Moore
They can't run the ball. You know, Seattle can't run the ball right now. They don't have options to run the ball. So it's one dimensional.
Andy Holloway
So if they, if, if that's what you're buying into, then Russell Wilson is in trouble this week.
Mike Wright
Okay, yeah, I see what you're saying. And the fact that they can't run the ball hurts their offensive lines.
Jason Moore
We know. Lynch them. Yep. All right. The Vikings take on the packers and the, this is the Sunday night game.
Andy Holloway
I believe the Sunday night game for the NFC north division.
Jason Moore
What do you do as a fantasy owner of Aaron Rodgers right now? Because the teams that won championships last week with Aaron Rodgers did it in spite, not because of him. Obviously Rogers has weapons that are not dependable. He's got a running game that's not dependable you've seen but he's still Aaron Rodgers. And every once in a while Aaron Rodgers can drop five touchdowns on a defense. I don't think it's going to be the Vikings.
Mike Wright
Yeah, the.
Andy Holloway
He dropped 212 yards and two touchdowns on them last time. But here starting in reverse order so from week 16, counting back, here's his touchdowns through the air. One one, two, two one, two, two. That's not that, that's not the fantasy output you want.
Jason Moore
Does he get Rogers?
Andy Holloway
Probably.
Jason Moore
Okay. He probably gets at home.
Mike Wright
They're at home. So example of how I feel about him. I have Russell Wilson one spot ahead of Aaron Rodgers.
Andy Holloway
So Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers?
Mike Wright
I would start Russell Wilson.
Andy Holloway
Okay. I'm just making sure you're confident in that.
Mike Wright
That's, that's how I see it.
Jason Moore
Well, Russell Wilson represents especially if they don't have a running game. Cardinals can't get to the edge very well. He can run the ball. He should give you a baseline that's.
Mike Wright
He could very easily, even in a, in a bad performance get 60 yards on the ground from scrambles and I.
Jason Moore
Would rather play him than Ryan.
Mike Wright
That's a touchdown, you know, just with his legs on the ground.
Jason Moore
And it's, it's coincidental these games are back to back here in our kind of analysis because same problem, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers offensive line can't protect them right now. And so at least in recency like you said, Seattle's been playing well but they had some opponents without pass rushes and now the packers take on a Vikings team that is. I think they're locked and loaded to, you know, the packers are favored.
Mike Wright
Now is this game for the.
Jason Moore
This game is for the division and I'm, I'm going to take the Vikings to win the game.
Mike Wright
Ooh, and this is at lambo, right? Yes.
Jason Moore
Three point favorites, 45 and a half over under. I'm going to take the Vikings on the back of Adrian Peterson to win the division.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I don't have any problem with that. I'm surprised that this isn't a pick them game anyways. I guess they're just giving the landlord.
Jason Moore
I'm not because they're the packers are leading the division and they're at home. Those are reasons to be favored.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but they also are coming off of a devastating loss. They have been not themselves recently. And the Vikings are coming off of a crushing victory, so.
Jason Moore
That's right. So any wide receiver you want to start in this game on either team.
Andy Holloway
That is crazy town.
Mike Wright
Crazy town. Because the answer is no crazy. I mean, who. Who would you rather start, Randall Cobb or Stefan Diggs?
Andy Holloway
Cobb in that situation, maybe.
Jason Moore
You know, I think the best. I think the best start of the game. The best start of the game is.
Mike Wright
James Jones at wide receiver.
Jason Moore
At wide receiver across both teams, James Jones is the guy highest touchdown chance and yeah. Longer plays, seemingly, you know, targeted regularly. You know, Stefan Diggs, he can do it. He showed he could come back and do it a couple weeks ago. He'd be the next on the list for me. And I would leave everybody else on the sideline.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
And I would. I would throw my head back in wonderment because it just didn't seem like that would be the case for these guys at the beginning of the year. Eddie Lacy. What is the tale of Eddie Lacy? What is he doing this game? Oh, fantasy owners need to know who to start Eddie Lacey over to win their week 17 weeks. We have him one spot behind Rashad Jennings in our consensus, two spots behind Jeremy Hill, three behind Bilal Powell, and just ahead of James White, Jeremy Langford, Javorius Allen.
Mike Wright
I think that's exactly where he should be. If you're in a ppr, though, I would put White ahead of White ahead of Lacey.
Andy Holloway
And I have. I have that. I want to have confidence in Eddie Lacey this Eddie Lacy this week. That just seems like it's going to be cold. It's outside.
Jason Moore
At home.
Andy Holloway
At home, Eddie Lacy has just dominated in these circumstances, yet I don't have full confidence in him, which is.
Mike Wright
It's really unfortunate since week one when Minnesota got gashed, remember by Carlos Hyde. Right. In that crazy game. Since then, Minnesota has given up three total touchdowns to the running back on the year.
Jason Moore
Let me put it this way, Mike. Would you start CJ Anderson and your hunch about him this week against San Diego? Would you rather start Eddie Lacy this week?
Andy Holloway
Oh, man, I think I'd. I think I'd go Anderson there.
Mike Wright
Anderson, to me, has a better touchdown opportunity.
Andy Holloway
I mean, it's a. It's similar situation where him and Hillman are splitting and Lacey and Starks are splitting. So I guess I would lean to the. To the matchup. Against the Chargers.
Jason Moore
All right, any final words on this matchup before we hit the mailbag?
Andy Holloway
No, just that it stay away from the receiver. What a world we are in where we say, hey, which guys. Which packers receivers are you starting?
Mike Wright
None of them.
Andy Holloway
None. Oh, that makes me sick.
Mike Wright
Mailbag round New Year's.
Jason Moore
It is a weird world. It is. It is a weird world where, you know, we're sitting here saying, okay, most weeks lately, do you start Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, but you don't start James Jones and Randall Cobb. What a weird, weird year. Maybe. Maybe that'll be part of our New Year's resolutions. Just, things change. Be ready for it. Jeremy in Eugene, Oregon. All right. You got me to the title game, he says, and I'm going for the win. For the most part.
Andy Holloway
That's good.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
You should always try.
Jason Moore
Go for the win once you're there. For the most part, I'm sticking with my studs, even though they've been up and down. C. Miller, Lamar need to know who to play at my flex spot. Golden Tate against the Bears, Carlos Williams against the jets, or Kamar, not Clay Aiken against the Bengals. This is a PPR league. Help help him out.
Mike Wright
Wow, that is tough.
Andy Holloway
Ooh.
Mike Wright
Golden Tate's been on fire. Carlos Williams has a tough matchup and is somewhat splitting. Not. Not too much. And Kamar has been consistent and solid.
Jason Moore
I am going to say Carlos Williams.
Andy Holloway
I would say Golden Tate.
Mike Wright
And for the tie break, it is close, but because it's a half point ppr, I'm going to go Golden Tate. He's getting enough receptions lately that I think his baseline is high enough, and he's been getting in the end zone, so it's probably.
Jason Moore
Probably Good advice. Good logic there. I think he's a little safer than Williams, too. Bort in Springfield.
Mike Wright
Bort in Springfield.
Jason Moore
Nonetheless, Bort, I've got a pool of running backs in my championship game that all seem to be the same level. Will you help me pick three of them? Buck Allen, Tim Hightower.
Mike Wright
Ding, ding, ding, ding. Yeah, he's not the same level.
Jason Moore
Frank Gore, Carlos Williams and Denard Robinson. Full point ppr.
Mike Wright
This is easy. For me, it's the first three. It's Buck Allen, Tim Hightower, and Frank Gore. That's. To me, it's easy. You can give me a question between Buck Allen and Carlos Williams, but I would. In a ppr. Go Buck Allen.
Andy Holloway
I completely agree with everything Jason said. And that also feels gross.
Jason Moore
