Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
Hello, everybody. Welcome to the show. It is Monday. It is September 28th. We just enjoyed some week three NFL action. Got a Monday night game tonight and we are the fantasy footballers. We're back again. Hey boys.
Mike Wright
Hey boy.
Jason Moore
Lot of fun football yesterday.
Andy Holloway
If you're a Cardinal fan, you had a, you had a good afternoon. If you're a Colin Kaepernick fan, you didn't. There's a reason he was my start of the week last week and not this past week. If you started Kaepernick, you enjoyed two pick sixes within the first five plays or something like that. Yep, that was good.
Jason Moore
That was really good.
Andy Holloway
If you're a Barn Ridge fan.
Jason Moore
All those Barn Ridge fans out there, hey.
Andy Holloway
There was a DFS barn shout out to Chris Meaney. He said it on the show here on Friday. Start him in DFS and start all.
Mike Wright
Tight ends against the Oakland Raiders. I do not, I don't care if your grandmother was recently signed to an NFL team and she's going to play tight end. If they're playing against the Raiders. You play.
Andy Holloway
That's what you do. Who do the Raiders play? Look up who the Raiders play next week while I let people know how to find us. You can go on the web thefantasyfootballers.com click the submit a question button to submit a question for the show. Jason Moore
This week the Oakland Raiders play the Chicago Martellus Benitz's.
Andy Holloway
Hey, good start next week just ride that train, right? Yeah, ride that Jimmy Clausen train.
Mike Wright
That's the only. The ultimate test is if Jimmy Clausen and Martellus Bennett can. Can put up tight end points then anybody.
Andy Holloway
What tirade were you going on about? Fox right before John Fox. Yeah, right before the show.
Mike Wright
Oh, the puntasaurus. Good grief. It was, it was the second half they were down I think two scores and they had done nothing all day on offense. They finally got into plus territory was 4th and 1 and they punt gross cowards.
Andy Holloway
I said the game was probably going to be a shutout. I didn't, I didn't know Fox was working on it too.
Mike Wright
These in Kubiak last night with his I'm going to kick a 60 yard field goal. No, I'm going to take a delay game and punt even though I'm in plus territory and it's fourth and short.
Andy Holloway
You're not happy with these old school coaches.
Mike Wright
I just, I do not get it that you have, you have that little faith of your team that oh, we can't get a yard.
Andy Holloway
I want to say hi to everybody who is watching the show on YouTube. Click that subscribe button. Leave us some comments. We're also on the Fantasy Sports Network so hello to everybody watching on the Fantasy Sports Network. So quick question of the day. What do you do with Steve Smith, the ageless wonder? Because man, did he have another game. He just, he basically repeated last week but he threw in two touchdowns and.
Jason Moore
He didn't do it in a way that is lucky or you know, scheme dependent. You know, he caught a screen and, and threw off two guys and then beast moded his way as an old man. Strength. That's what it was.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he basically like bolden in a lot of ways where he just kind of out muscles you at all times and then yells at you after the catch.
Jason Moore
So as far as what you do, you know we had said this before the season and history doesn't always repeat itself but I am still of the mindset personally that he's going to continue strong for another couple of weeks and then he's going to tire out.
Andy Holloway
I think he's going to keep going.
Jason Moore
We saw it last year.
Andy Holloway
Rashad Perryman re injured himself in warmups.
Jason Moore
Did he really?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So he's going to probably miss more time. If not, I mean, who knows when he's back. There is a necessity for flacco and the Ravens. That wasn't even there last year with Torrey Smith. And that's the difference to me. And because history hasn't done it many, many, many years with Steve Smith. I just think, you know him tiring out last year, he still had productive games at times.
Jason Moore
So what you do with Steve Smith is cartwheels.
Andy Holloway
Exactly.
Jason Moore
All right.
Andy Holloway
That's a great. Yeah.
Mike Wright
And it was. Speaking of old man strength, did you guys know that the second he put senior into his name, he added £50 to his bench?
Jason Moore
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Andy Holloway
Well, it worked out for him. So let's go ahead and let's get into the rewind.
Jason Moore
Weekly rewind.
Andy Holloway
All right. It was a. It was kind of a weird week. We had a lot of huge, humongous games from wide receivers that went out and just exploded. AJ Green, Julio Jones, Steve Smith, like we talked about. Keenan Allen had a monster game. We also had some injuries. We had some injuries we need to talk about. So the big one, the big scare and still a significant problem for fantasy owners is big Ben Roethlisberger went down. Now, there wasn't a flag on the play. That is coming under a lot of scrutiny because it, it should have been called. But regardless, you're hurt. You're hurt. So he goes off the field with. With what a lot of people thought was probably a season ending injury, gets carted off. What is the latest on Big Ben's knee?
Mike Wright
Sprained mcl. The ACL is intact. There is no timetable, though, for his return. From what I'm reading from my doctor friends, they're talking about six weeks is the. Is the probable return.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I saw that the bone bruise was actually the bigger concern than the sprain because of how significant that is.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And that's. Man, what do you do now with your Steelers skill players? I mean, I got Martavis Bryant questions instantly.
Andy Holloway
I mean, I think LaShawn McCoy or not. Not LaShawn McCoy. Le'Veon Bell goes up.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Or the same.
Jason Moore
Le'Veon Bell is the guy I'm the least worried about. The guy I'm the most worried about is Antonio Brown. I'm not worried about him in any kind of. He's still going to be great. He's going to be the number one target and get his. But I think he's going to take a dip from these otherworldly numbers he's been putting up. I mean, I think in like the first half, you know, before Big Ben went down, he almost had 100 yards. It was like he was on fire.
Andy Holloway
With them, there's just a rapport you can't repeat.
Jason Moore
Exactly. So I think all of those guys, all the wide receivers take, take a little bit of dip and you get a little fantasy lull here. Other than Le'Veon Bell, who I think is going to be.
Andy Holloway
I don't. I don't think you can be as excited about Martavis coming back into the fold with. With Vic. So.
Jason Moore
So is this a guy that you trade for or trade who? Martavis Bryant. Do you try to get value for him right now and trade him?
Andy Holloway
I think everybody knows what's going on, so I don't think you're going to get the value that you need. So it's probably a hold situation because if you go try to trade Martavis right now.
Jason Moore
Well, do you trade for him is what I'm saying then. Oh, if people are down on his.
Andy Holloway
Value, I probably don't. Because by the time he's relevant again, six weeks, a Big Ben from now you're talking, I don't know, maybe he.
Mike Wright
Could still be relevant. We don't know.
Andy Holloway
But it's not Antonio Brown coming back either. You know, he has to come back and have big games and I just don't know. Couple of really annoying guys. Chris Ivory, man, you screwed me, bro.
Mike Wright
He screwed a lot of people.
Jason Moore
He screwed me as well.
Andy Holloway
Or do I blame Todd Bowles for not saying, Chris Ivory is just going to be our emergency back today? Because that's what happened. He was off on the sideline with his helmet off as an emergency back, and I guess they just didn't need to lace up anybody else and they.
Jason Moore
Seem like they could have used him a lot.
Andy Holloway
It's.
Jason Moore
Well, when that game got close, unless.
Andy Holloway
He was that hurt, you survived, though. You're happy because now Ivory can come back and hopefully be healthy the rest of the year, or at least healthier because he's played well when he's healthy. So a big bummer there. I started Ifert and Ivory in my, like, flex and tight end spot, and I faced Jason in one of our leagues and he had, like, Greg Olson and Dion Lewis, so he outscored me like 45 to nothing in those spots, and I lost. So Vernon Davis out with a knee injury. I don't know how many people were starting him. Shady has a hammy. We know this. Or half a hammy. I don't know what's going on. He was basically on the sideline, on the bike and saved kind of his fantasy day with one reception for a touchdown. What are we Doing with Carlos Williams? Because I have a feeling Carlos could get a ton of work next year.
Mike Wright
You're putting Carlos Williams on your bench immediately. He's. He's going to be.
Andy Holloway
But are you starting him if. If Shady's out, you're starting out 100%.
Jason Moore
You start him with all confidence.
Andy Holloway
10 start 110 and two touchdown or one touchdown.
Jason Moore
If Shady's out, you start him over every questionable good guy, in my opinion. You know, you, you talk about like the, the four sets. What do I do with four sets and Lamar Millers? If Shady's out, you put a guy like Carlos Williams in ahead of those guys.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to mention two other guys, then I'm going to put Mike on the spot for a second. Marshawn lynch went out with a ha. Almost pulled a Chris Ivory and then Jonathan Stewart went out for a second. So with those guys, I would expect to see a big cue next to their name for the entirety of the week because they're both going to miss practice time. I believe Carol said Lynch's injury did not seem severe. Nothing to be long term worried about. But you don't like to see it. And the depth chart assassin strikes again.
Mike Wright
Well, but I mean, Thomas Rawls, man, he looked okay.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he looked okay. He's definitely the long term plan there.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I was going, that's exactly what I was thinking when I was watching the game. It's like, well, they might have found MARSHAWN LYNCH PART 2 and they'll let him go.
Andy Holloway
So do you sign Rawls?
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Especially if you're the lynch owner.
Andy Holloway
If lynch is out, who would you rather start, Rawls or Rawls?
Mike Wright
Rawls is the guy.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I agree. Even though I signed Fred Jackson, I'm sad to say it. And we're going to have Fred Jacks on the show.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we haven't announced it yet. Fred Jackson coming in.
Mike Wright
Way to go.
Andy Holloway
Jason on the 13th.
Mike Wright
Probably Jason's just. He's a breaking news kind of guy. He's like, oh, I got news. I'm going to tell everybody about the news.
Jason Moore
Hey, everybody, Fred Jackson's coming on.
Andy Holloway
How about we talk about tomorrow? Who's coming on the show tomorrow?
Jason Moore
I think he's a hall of famer.
Andy Holloway
Famer.
Jason Moore
Running back.
Andy Holloway
Marshall Falk.
Mike Wright
I've seen better.
Andy Holloway
Oh, good. I'll tell him that when I talk.
Jason Moore
About I won some leagues back in the day with Marshall Falk.
Andy Holloway
There were a few players more versatile than Marshall Falk. Marshall Falk was 100 reception guy. Amazing. So we'll have him on the show tomorrow. We'll be talking kind of get his ideas on some teams and players that are standing out to him and talk about some fantasy as well. Mike, before we move on here to the stud muffins of the week, I want to talk to you about two guys that are hurting you right now and on the show live. Last week you traded for C.J. anderson and you have a tattoo on your chest or it's been rumored, of Jeremy Hill. So I do. What are your concerns? I mean, what are your thoughts right now? Are you reeling?
Mike Wright
It is. It's pretty brutal right now. There's. There's no denying that fact. So I'll go one at a time with Anderson. The. The. Why Anderson was so attractive to start was because he was on an offense with Peyton Manning. And Peyton Manning has had elite offenses in the past. The Denver Broncos offense right now, wow. Is. They're fine. They're not anything remotely close to an elite option right now. And because defenses aren't worried about that, then C.J. anderson is just. He. He can't be that guy. And on top of that, and now he put the concussion, well, the almost concussion, he got crushed.
Andy Holloway
I wonder if that was just a stinger though, or something.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it had to have been because he came back in, he got cleared by doctors of some kind. And with Jeremy Hill. Oh, man, Less. Less concerned just because when you break down their percentages, Cincinnati is still a running team. Geo's out snapping the crap out of Jeremy Hill right now.
Andy Holloway
Here's the thing, they're winning. That's the problem, right?
Mike Wright
They're winning, but the market always corrects itself. And Andy Dalton accounted for four touchdowns yesterday. And they're still a running team. Almost all of their touchdowns have been through the air. And I think the rushing touchdowns are still to come. I'm not selling Jeremy Hill yet because what can you even get for him? But I still have faith that he can get it going well for.
Andy Holloway
Can I say something real quick?
Jason Moore
Absolutely.
Andy Holloway
I agree with you. But I also want this to be a reminder to people when we're in the off season next year and we're talking about guys that had a good year. This is why we said it's. Everyone expects the repeat, you know, five point something, a carry from Jeremy Hill and a monster season. And it's kind of hard to do that over and over again. And there's a reason why in our projections, even this group here who likes Jeremy Hill, we didn't put him at those same Numbers because it's just like you said, market correction goes to running backs. Not doing the same thing every year too.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but man, they've. Running backs have just been brutal.
Andy Holloway
They've been very. If you don't have AP right now.
Mike Wright
Yeah, well, and Charles has been.
Andy Holloway
And obviously Joseph Randall. This.
Jason Moore
There have been a lot. Lamar Miller, a lot of guys. A lot of guys that have burned you. You know what else burns you?
Mike Wright
What's that?
Jason Moore
Razor burn. Razor burn is pretty much the worst thing on the planet. I hate it. It's the reason why I grow a beard half of my life. But shaving can be a huge pain. You want to know what corrects that painful experience? Harry's Harrys.com is the way to fix the painful, outrageously expensive practice of shaving. They're about half the price of other big branded blades they ship for free right to your front doorstep. And those blades are better than any other blades I have put on my face. I have personally used it. I use it on my neck because my neck is very sensitive and Harry's takes care of it. So why pay 32 bucks for an eight pack of blades? The starter set. Mike Wright
And listen. Foot Clan. You've heard, you've heard us talk about FanDuel. We were through three weeks. If you haven't got on week four, this is the time to get on. Listen. Fanduel is the leader in one week fantasy football with more winners and more payouts than any other site. They are paying out over $70,005 million a week this football season. It's a salary cap format. You can pick any players you want for just one week entry fee. Start at just a buck. Anybody can play. So if you. We want to know how are you guys doing on Fanduel? Jason Moore
And also, let's be honest about something you see all the time. You see commercials everywhere for FanDuel. And you know that there are a bunch of fools out there right now who don't know their football that are signing up like crazy. And you are listening to this show and have inside information. You have a better odds because you have more information. So enjoy it this year.
Andy Holloway
All right, we're going to talk about kind of the highlights of the week, the lowlights of the week. Go through these players, give you the fantasy perspective you need. Which guys to sign, which guys to keep starting, which guys to say thank you very much, but move on. So let's do that right now.
Jason Moore
This week's fantasy stud muffins.
Andy Holloway
All righty. You guys ready for this?
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
All right. Andy Dalton. Andy Dalton.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Big week for Andy Dalton. Big week for A.J. green, though, to combine for. Well, Dalton had 383 yards, but I think Green had about 217 of them.
Jason Moore
I believe Andy Dalton was your start of the week.
Andy Holloway
Was he? I couldn't remember if it was him or Cam Newton, but both had monsters either way. Yeah, I know. We talked a lot about Dalton. I told about 500 people to start him when they gave me those, like Dalton or Matthew Stafford. No go Dalton, you know, so big weeks from Dalton. Big week from Cam Newton. Tyrod Taylor.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Monster week.
Jason Moore
I believe Tyrod Taylor was your mike start of the week.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Derek Carr had another good week through the air in terms of yardage. In fact, the Raiders Browns game produced a lot of yardage because McCown had two touchdowns and 341 yards. So if you rolled him out in FanDuel, if you rolled him out in fantasy for some reason, you got a good game.
Mike Wright
So where are you guys at with Derek Carr?
Andy Holloway
He's a streaming option in a good matchup.
Mike Wright
Okay, well, I didn't think it was a great matchup, personally going on the rail.
Andy Holloway
I thought it was an okay matchup. Yeah, I mean, in a game that they're going to be competitive to win in is what I'm defining that as. Not necessarily like the best or worst defenses in the league, but where they're going to compete to win. I like Carr.
Jason Moore
I like Carr a lot. The reason I didn't think this was a good matchup was because I expected it to be total low scoring game. I didn't expect to be a lot of yards being put up between these two types of teams. But in most other matchups he should be airing it out. So I actually like Carr quite a bit. As a streaming option, what do we.
Andy Holloway
Think about Tyrant Taylor? Is he a quarterback one rest of season?
Jason Moore
Absolutely.
Mike Wright
At this point moving forward you have to play him.
Jason Moore
It's just the same reason why Mike called, you know, his baseline of 40.
Mike Wright
Yards and he didn't even run yesterday.
Jason Moore
Right, right. He did that. He didn't use that. But you, if he is having a hard time, you have that baseline he's going to fall back on. If he's not falling back on that baseline, it's probably for a really good reason because he's having a great game. So either way, I think Tyrod Taylor is a startable piece and should be owned in every league.
Andy Holloway
Okay, let's talk about wide receivers. We talked at length about Steve Smith. We got the rebound, the rubber band.
Mike Wright
Keenan Allen game, he's going to be brutal this year.
Andy Holloway
You think this will be the pattern or do you just think he had a bad week too?
Mike Wright
I think it's lean towards that thought. I think it's going to be hard to predict Keenan Allen and his, his second touchdown was the ultimate garbage. It was the backup quarterback. The game was over and they just got him an extra touchdown. So his game was, was went from good to having an elite time. But I just, I have a difficult time thinking that Alan's going to do this every single week.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I'll bet you it's more often than not that he has a good game.
Mike Wright
He seems to me, I'm fine with that but I just, I don't think it's going to be week to week.
Andy Holloway
Let me ask you about a couple more guys that people want to know. They'll see the big stat lines on the waiver wire and they want to know if they should go sign these guys and whether it's worth signing. So Rashad Matthews and Ruben Randall.
Jason Moore
I actually like Rashad Matthews.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I talked about. I'm just laughing at how he scored his. One of his touchdowns.
Jason Moore
Oh, that was his role. His like rolling down the hill.
Mike Wright
So the play was. We're already into. The Dolphins are getting blown out and Ryan Tannehill hucks a ball up in the air about five yards too short. Everyone has to stop. Everybody falls over, including Rashard Matthews and the defenders. Matthews happens to catch the ball with a. With a great catch and then proceeds to roll into the end zone. He doesn't get up and running. He just. He casually rolls.
Andy Holloway
That's how Jason play wider.
Mike Wright
Yes. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Double stuff. Let me, Let me ask you a question on Rashad Matthews, because another guy we need to talk about a little is Travis Benjamin. We have not been believers. He had another serviceable week. Didn't do a whole lot, but did get in the end zone. Right again. And I said last week I'd much rather have a Rashad. Matt. Rashad Matthews on the waiver than Travis Benjamin. Both did. All right, but where are you on Travis Benjamin going forward?
Andy Holloway
Probably the best option to start in Cleveland. If you need to start a Cleveland option. I mean.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's.
Andy Holloway
That's not saying much. Yeah, I think he's. He should be on rosters. I do believe that I said that last week.
Jason Moore
Would you. Would you start him?
Andy Holloway
Give me some names.
Jason Moore
I mean, would you start him or. Stevie Johnson.
Andy Holloway
That's a. Geez, perfect name. I'd probably go with Stevie Johnson.
Mike Wright
Yeah. I'm still going with Stevie. Philip Rivers had a horrible day, and I don't expect that to continue forever.
Jason Moore
Would you start him or Sammy Watkins or Percy Harvin right now while Sammy's injured?
Andy Holloway
I'd probably go with. I'd probably go with Benjamin, I guess.
Mike Wright
I think I'm going with Percy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
I mean, it's any, Any Minnesota wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'd start Benjamin, I think. Yeah, Benjamin's. You know, he's performing. You can't ignore that. You also can't expect him to have a final season total of 18 touchdowns. You know, that's not going to happen either. So there will be weeks that he will balance out.
Mike Wright
And you know who's going to have 18 touchdowns? Larry Fitzgerald.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my goodness. We should have mentioned him. Why is he not in this section right now?
Mike Wright
Because we try and put guys who aren't just straight up wide receiver ones.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. But he's worth talking about because people want to know, is this going to keep going? And let me tell you, we're Cardinal fans, so we watch these games. We've seen Larry for years. We know how good of a receiver he is. We know the change that that offense has undergone, and we saw how bad he was with terrible quarterback play. They are making a concerted effort to make him a focal point of the offense. This is not an incidental thing. This is read Number one is Larry Fitzgerald. Read number two is Larry Fitzgerald and then the rest of the guys and they're getting him the ball in the red zone on purpose. Even in games where they're blowing people out, this is almost, you know, the Cardinals are still six points ahead of the Patriots on points scored for the season, which tells you that Arians is taking a very Belichickian view to finishing these games in.
Jason Moore
I loved when they went for it on 4th and 1.
Andy Holloway
We're up like it was the right 40 to 7. It was the right move to do unlike Gary Kubiak.
Mike Wright
Yeah, the coobs, coops, man. I think John Brown, while he's not putting up fantasy numbers. So fantasy players aren't may not like this part of Larry Fitzgerald success is John Brown is the threat of John Brown for other teams they have. There's another wide receiver you actually have to account for who could. If you take one playoff and you go single coverage against John Brown, Carson Palmer is going to throw the ball up in the 50 yards in the air. And we saw the fantasy mystic over here. His dreams almost came true, but they bounced ever so gently off the bounce.
Jason Moore
My dreams went into John Brown's arms and then bounced out in the end zone.
Andy Holloway
This was a good game from Palmer. It was a tough luck game for Palmer because he had multiple like there were drives where he led them down the field with 90 yards of passing to the one where Chris Johnson ran the ball in that Johnson just happens. So. All right, let's talk about some running backs. We had just like no running back performances from guys you expect and then ba boom from Devonte Freeman and Joey Randall and some late like Eric Blunt, Chris Johnson, I mean, what are we reading here?
Mike Wright
Devonte Freeman has now perplexed me because he looked good through the first two weeks. He looked like the Devontae Freeman that we saw last week. Just look, he looked bad with an eye test, with numbers, everything, he looked bad. But yesterday it wasn't just successful. It wasn't Julio Jones going down on the one and he happens to score a touchdown. He looked good. And now I'm very confused on what to do with Freeman.
Andy Holloway
30 for 141 yards, three touchdowns. The Falcons are three and oh, they went into Dallas. They came from behind because obviously you saw Joey Randall had 14 for 87 and three touchdowns.
Jason Moore
The funniest three, the funniest stat on that, if you haven't heard of it yet, was that Joey Randall ran for, I think in his first three carries was 85 yards, is that right?
Mike Wright
That is correct. And he finished 14 for 87.
Jason Moore
So in his next 11 carries, he.
Mike Wright
Got two yards and this. So we're on a Christian Michael Watch 2000.
Jason Moore
I'm just going to say the same thing.
Andy Holloway
Me and Jason are not.
Jason Moore
You're on a Chris and Michael.
Mike Wright
No, I'm saying people probably want an update from me. All right.
Andy Holloway
No, people. Go ahead.
Jason Moore
People want it.
Mike Wright
I was watching the start of the game like, okay, we can move on from Michael. Randall's taking the job. He looks good on his first three carries. And then. So what was the really stat line of this? So his next 11 carries, he got two yards and you're like, there was.
Andy Holloway
An adjustment by the defense. They were going to make Wheaton win. I mean, Randall.
Mike Wright
But even if you put nine guys in the box, a capable running back on 11 carries should be able to get more than two yards with the best offensive line in football.
Andy Holloway
I don't overthink that part at all. But he had a great game. You have to count all of his runs.
Mike Wright
I. And I am, so I am. You can drop him.
Andy Holloway
Oh, it's finally happened. I wish I had some button for that. Legarette blunt. Garbage time. You're going to see this in garbage time. 18 for 78, three touchdowns. Chris Johnson, 22 for 110 and two touchdowns, 150 total yards. Had another pass catch for 40 yards. He kind of looked okay.
Jason Moore
He looked pretty darn good. And so did the O line, opening up holes. And he used it and he ran. But it wasn't just the O line. Like when he caught that 40 yard pass. He had a nice cut near the. Near the out of bounds line, picking up another 20.
Andy Holloway
Fantasy owners need to understand Andre Ellington is going to play next week. Chris Johnson's still going to be involved. David Johnson's still going to be involved.
Jason Moore
I don't think David Johnson is going to be involved hardly at all. That's. That's what I gained from this little Chris Johnson experiment, is that when Andre probably comes back, Andre is going to be the man and then David Johnson is going to be really a special teamer or need to get. I mean, he's not going to be.
Andy Holloway
Startup here and there, passing downs here and there. He still looked. David Johnson still looked all right to me.
Jason Moore
Oh, yeah. When he got the ball, he was good.
Andy Holloway
Frank Gore had a good game. 14 for 86, two touchdowns, one late in a comeback win for the Colts. Thank goodness, because that game looked like it was over. Thank goodness for Colts fans. Yeah. Because Owen 3 with that team and what they were expecting would have been pretty devastating. But they came back to win. Mariota led a game tying potential. Tying drive. I don't know. Did you guys see the two point conversion?
Mike Wright
Yeah. Classic. Ken Wizen Hunt handed it off to.
Andy Holloway
A guy whose name I honestly had never heard before, who proceeded to on the two point conversion run, run 16 yards backwards and tear his ACL.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And did he actually.
Andy Holloway
No. I don't know if he tore it, but he was down on the field for a long time.
Jason Moore
Had to have torn it. Did you see the way that his writhing, the way that his foot stayed in the ground and his body moved and his leg twisted and then a man hit it.
Mike Wright
Ken Wizen Hunt.
Jason Moore
Terrible.
Andy Holloway
Well, we're a little bitter. Don't. Don't make all the Tennessee fans sad. All right. Latavius Murray had a monster day. 26 for 139 and touchdown. This is called. You get all the carries and you get all the.
Mike Wright
Well, and actually Latavius through the. About the first half of the game was awful.
Andy Holloway
Awful.
Mike Wright
I think he had about 17 yards, so he exploded. You have to buy into Latavius Murray.
Jason Moore
I love Latavius Murray. I've been telling a lot of friends.
Andy Holloway
Of mine, how many bets do I have with Tavius Murray on the winning side right now?
Mike Wright
Oh, yeah, you're crushing it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. He's my favorite RB2 to have on any team because I think he's still. He's limited from his upside because of the team as far as how many points they're going to be putting up every game. But even if they're in a bad matchup or if they're down, he's still the guy being used. He's a true bell cow and he's talented. So I love him as an RV2. There was.
Mike Wright
There was a Roy Hulu sighting. He got a catch.
Andy Holloway
Did he really?
Mike Wright
He did. Oh, Roy, Hello.
Andy Holloway
I know the potential with your name. Just get in there and perform so we can say it some more. We got to move on to some other name next draft season. My goodness. All right, Tight ends had big games. Greg Olson, we told you back. We told you, don't bail out on Greg Olson. The target numbers were huge last week. Everybody's afraid of Greg Olson. Well, two touchdowns later and 100,000 yards, three touchdowns.
Mike Wright
If you count the one taken away by penalty.
Andy Holloway
I don't count that one because he scored on the.
Mike Wright
About the next play.
Andy Holloway
Gary, he scored on the same drive and you wanted that one thrown in?
Mike Wright
No, I'm just letting people know.
Andy Holloway
Well, Charles Clay had a good game on seven targets. Clay harbor had an okay game. Gary Barnage, we talked about it. Gary Barnage, 10 targets. Start your tight ends against the Raiders.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's go ahead and talk about some not so greats.
Jason Moore
Pooped in his big boy pants.
Andy Holloway
Well, we talked about the big boy, Jeremy Hill and second straight week of poop in his pants. 12 for 21. Mike has Jeremy Hill and Justin for set as his running backs in our dynasty league. So Justin for set was 10 for 13.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Am I reading that right?
Mike Wright
That is correct.
Andy Holloway
That's like Joy Bellian.
Jason Moore
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Joy Bell has run after his 7 yard run in game.
Mike Wright
In his first game in the first game.
Jason Moore
He has run 4 negative yards since then.
Andy Holloway
Infinitely more touchdowns for Drake Bell than Justin Forset. Infinite infinity.
Mike Wright
That is an accurate statement.
Jason Moore
So how much. How much of Justin Forset? Because he was on the field, he was the guy being victorious. How much of it?
Mike Wright
It's not just. It's Lorenzo.
Jason Moore
The Bengals.
Mike Wright
A lot of it was the Bengals.
Jason Moore
You have.
Mike Wright
You have to be very encouraged by the usage. And I'd still trade for him.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I would too.
Mike Wright
I'm not bailing out on Justin for set. Like we reminded people a couple shows ago, Eddie Lacy, one of last year's top performers, started with three horrific games.
Jason Moore
So, yeah, last week there was still.
Mike Wright
Plenty of season for Justin Forsett to turn it around and he's on the field.
Andy Holloway
But let's set some expectations because you, you can say that right about Eddie Lacy, but they're completely different types of players, especially around the goal line. And now you have Taliaferro and you have Buck Allen involved. He's not alone. Like set a fair touchdown expectation for Justin Forset. Five would you over under on five touchdowns rest of the season?
Mike Wright
I'll give him. Because if you go, that's a good number.
Andy Holloway
I'll still take the over.
Mike Wright
Here's the thing though. He has four catches in every single game. So he's being used in the passing game. I think he can improve.
Andy Holloway
But he. But he was drafted as a one.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he was drafted as a two.
Jason Moore
In some leagues he was drafted as a one. More often he was drafted as a two. And I think that if you can steal him right now for something cheap and not have him be your one, if you can make him be your flex, he'll be great going forward for that.
Andy Holloway
I think a two is fine. He's fine with Me as a two, but not a one. Jason's right. And a lot of leagues, I mean, he climbed really high in drafts.
Mike Wright
So let's we. I didn't put him in because he was the Sunday night game. But let's not skip over my third running back, C.J.
Andy Holloway
And yeah, you had the trifecta of failure. Put that one in.
Mike Wright
Hey, I am going down with the ship. So just understand that you traded Jordan.
Andy Holloway
Reed and Danny Woodhead to get CJ Anderson to take the shot. And the Broncos offense is still finding itself, if you noticed.
Mike Wright
And there was, I think Collinsworth had a nice rundown of the offensive line. It's a completely new unit. There's one guy, and we've talked about several times, that an offensive line takes time for it to really get it going. So if you want to bail out on Anderson, go ahead. I'm not dropping him. I'm not trading him right now because that's an important thing. Do never, ever drop these guys. If you want to get rid of them, go ahead and trade them for garbage, but you never, ever drop these guys.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it's very wise to throw them in with somebody else in a two for one trade because the names still have value. In fact, on this show, I was going to ask you guys philosophically, like, the way that people go around, you know, this is the time of year you have to make decisions on names and no names. A lot of the times you have to go out and say, hey, I'm going to start Matt Jones over Justin for set. Right, Right. Or I'm going to go start Carlos Williams over Lamar Miller because of the matchups. And do you guys ever kind of wince when you have to make those decisions? Or is it.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I mean, yes, because it's hard to look at your lineup and say, boy, I'm really proud of this. But you're putting the better lineup out, right?
Jason Moore
Yep. Yep, that's exactly right. And sometimes it's gross and it feels wrong to do, but whoever's putting up more points is more valuable on your team. And you just. Here's the one thing that we always want to caution you is you can't chase what happened last week. So if a guy is low, that doesn't mean he's going to be low again next week. You've always got to question that. Is he a buy low or is he.
Mike Wright
Yeah. A.J. green.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Yeah. That's one of the biggest problems that people have that are new to fantasy. And I get those messages all the time, too. Like a good Instance is Andrew Luck. You know, it's like somebody, you'll have a good week last week, do you start him over Andrew Luck this week? And I'm like, I'm still starting Andrew Luck. I'm not benching Andrew Luck. He's gonna come around to those type of games. Jason last pooped in his big boy pants. I want to talk to you about is Tyler Ifert. He had a gooser. He had one touchdown that was almost a touchdown, but it doesn't count because it wasn't a touchdown. So are you worried about ifert?
Jason Moore
I am 100% not worried about Eifert in the least, and here's why. The Ravens were the perfect anti Ifert matchup. I said that last week. A lot of people that wrote in, they were trading and they were getting him. I said, just expect a terrible week from Ifert, but don't be worried because he's great. The Ravens the best tight end defending team because they can defend the tight end and they can't defend the wide receivers. It makes it really, really easy to throw to wide receivers. Why would you throw to your tight end when they're not guarding your wide receivers?
Andy Holloway
AJ Green agrees with you.
Jason Moore
So Tyler Ifert, do not worry. Do not sell. Please go buy Tyler Ifert.
Mike Wright
My. I agree. I'm not worried about Ifert. My one hesitation, though, is Marvin Jones is starting to really show why he was a kind of a popular sleeper in this offseason. He has looked great. He's getting involved in the offense, and.
Andy Holloway
He has looked very good.
Mike Wright
So that's just the Eifert was. Is why I liked him so much was because he was the second option.
Andy Holloway
Marvin Jones or Travis Benjamin.
Jason Moore
Travis Benjamin, because Travis Benjamin is the number one on his team. Marvin Jones is not. And I think that Marvin Jones had an especially great week because of the Ravens bad DBs right now.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's tough because that's like, do you want to be in the driver's seat of a truck that's kind of broken down, or do you want to be in the passenger seat of a nice offense?
Jason Moore
Yeah, yeah, I want to drive the ship.
Andy Holloway
In this case, it's Travis Benjamin, a driver.
Jason Moore
Well, you gave me.
Andy Holloway
He needs those blocks on his feet to reach the pedals.
Jason Moore
Yeah, you're. I mean.
Mike Wright
Oh, you're.
Jason Moore
You're not. You're not telling me here. Emmanuel Sanders as a number two. I'm not. You know, it's not a Ferrari there in Cincinnati.
Andy Holloway
Hey, I just like what I've seen from Jones.
Mike Wright
The Cincinnati offense, man, they are destroyed.
Andy Holloway
So Chiefs and Packers Monday Night Football game tonight. So we have Lacey and Adams. We expect them both to play.
Mike Wright
Yes, I think they're both going to play trepidatiously.
Andy Holloway
Start Lacey.
Mike Wright
Yes, we are. Yeah, I've gotten lots of Lacey or Stark.
Andy Holloway
That's what I was about to ask you.
Mike Wright
Lacey got. He got bumped up to probable in the this ridiculous rating system that the NFL has of questionable and probable. So you have to go with Lacy.
Andy Holloway
I'm curious. I want to take a poll of our listeners on who they would start from that group based on the news tonight so you can tweet at us and do hashtag Sarks, hashtag Lacey. And I'm just curious how many of you are starting Starks over Lacey or whether it's. Everybody's just going to jump in with.
Mike Wright
The name and what you need to do if you have those that situation. You need to follow news up to game time. Do not set your lineup in the morning and then forget about it. You need to monitor if you are down.
Andy Holloway
Here's an example. If you are down by five points in your matchup, would you start Starks over Lacey? No, you would not.
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
Now Starks has more guarantee to have value to me because Lacy could go out on the first play. Lacy could not pull an Ivory.
Jason Moore
If Lacey plays and is the starter, Starks still has value.
Andy Holloway
Exactly.
Jason Moore
He's not a guy that when Lacey plays, you don't see Starks on the field. He gets his drives every now and then. And I would expect there to be more Starks than there usually is if Lacy's playing. And then of course, you've got the upside of Lacey goes down, Lacey gets injured. Lacey pulls a freaking Chris Ivory that. I'm sorry. I'm really upset. You don't.
Andy Holloway
You're upset. But I played nobody Ivory against you.
Jason Moore
Well, I played Ivory in another league.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah. Well, any other thoughts on tonight's game? Alex Smith is Jason's stream of the week. So if you follow Jason's advice, you don't have another option now because Aaron Rodgers is not on your waiver.
Jason Moore
He's in two of my leagues and I will be honest, I'm worried about it. It is a risky.
Andy Holloway
Oh, now you're worried.
Jason Moore
No, I was worried beforehand. I just. When I look back at the stats and how he's performed in Green Bay, how he's got the weapons that match up well against Green Bay, how Vegas has the highest point spread in that game, there's just a lot of Arrows saying that he could have over 200 yards and two touchdowns. That's what I'm hoping for.
Mike Wright
I selfishly need Travis, Zeus Kelsey to catch four touchdowns tonight. Let's just make that happen.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
Let's Charles do nothing.
Andy Holloway
Let's answer some listener questions.
Jason Moore
Mailbag.
Andy Holloway
All right, it's mailbag time. If you have your own question for us, go to the website thefantasyfootballers.com Click on the submit a question button. It is easy. It's so easy. Seriously.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
All right. You can also call us on our voicemail line. 302-464-TFFB. Let's go ahead and do a voicemail question right now.
Jason Moore
What's up here?
Andy Holloway
And I just want to take a.
Jason Moore
Moment of silence for Jeremy Hill.
Andy Holloway
What's up with this guy?
Mike Wright
What do we do?
Jason Moore
Should we be worried about Jeremy Hill.
Andy Holloway
Or should we just hold on to him and hope he has to come back? Or maybe it's time to drop him for Giovanni Bernard. Let me know, you guys.
Mike Wright
Thanks.
Jason Moore
Do not drop that.
Mike Wright
I don't think that's what he was actually saying. Well, that was so apologize. That was very difficult to hear, but he was. He's asking what to do with Jeremy Hill and I assume he means if you have Jeremy and Geo, who are you starting?
Jason Moore
Dude, I think at this point you have to start Geo and this coming week. This coming week they play Kansas City, which I think is a better GEO matchup.
Andy Holloway
Sorry, bro.
Jason Moore
And then they play the Seahawks after that.
Andy Holloway
Tom in bro, don't worry about it. Actually, that just says that Jeremy Hill might not. Jeremy Hill might be a buy low in week six.
Jason Moore
Yes, he might be a sell right now and a buy low in a couple of weeks.
Andy Holloway
Tom in Bronx, New York. Since Big Ben is down, he needs a quarterback. Vic Fitzpatrick, Bridgewater, Carr, Foles, Cousins, Mariota. And it's not Mariota to me.
Mike Wright
This is matchups. I don't know. I haven't broken down the matchups for week four yet. But just face value of this list. It's either Derek Carr or Mariota to me.
Jason Moore
Yeah, those were the two guys that I was looking at as well. Derek Carr, we know, plays the Bears next week and Mariota is going to be. Wow.
Andy Holloway
Wow.
Mike Wright
Are they the Titans already on by?
Jason Moore
I don't know. I'm looking.
Andy Holloway
Wow. Thanks. You are well commentary.
Mike Wright
So Derek Carr is the answer.
Andy Holloway
Joey. Yeah, this question. I've had Martavis Bryant stashed on my bench since the draft. Assuming Big Ben is out at least four weeks Is he worth holding on to? He's not worth dropping.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
But it hurts. I mean, for an expectation for Martavius this season to be what it was before the suspension, to be where it is now, where you kind of come back to Michael Vick. Yeah. I mean, I would try to trade him if you could get good value from him. Otherwise I'm just holding him and just waiting for fantasy playoffs and for him to be kind of a surprise. Good play for me.
Mike Wright
I'm trying to remember the. Who's the older guy, the backup quarterback who's played for Big Ben in the past.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, his name's.
Mike Wright
It's escaping my brain at the moment.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, me too.
Mike Wright
Well, but my point is that we don't know. We don't know what. What Michael Dick is going to do.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Mike Wright
I mean he could come in and he could actually be okay.
Jason Moore
He really could be okay.
Andy Holloway
I'm expecting him to be okay. I'm not expecting him to be Big Ben.
Jason Moore
You have to imagine that he did not get. I mean he's never going to get a first team rep in practice with Big Ben there. So he came in very unprepared to be playing is my. Is my thinking. So a week of practice is going to help him and he'll be decent. Also to verify the Titans are on bye week. So please do not do Mariota next week because you'll get zero points.
Andy Holloway
So it's early. Early bye weeks early by and same.
Jason Moore
So next week, little early New England and Tennessee Titans.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
No Patriots.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. We'll have to talk about Antonio Andrews too because he's going to be a hot name on waivers but he's on by so curious how that.
Mike Wright
There goes my strategy with my sweet running backs.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I know Drew in Allen, Texas said he owns Keenan Allen and Allen Robinson and every single week he plays the wrong one.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Which is the right player to start going forward. I wish I could tell you it's not going to be one guy probably going forward. I'd probably start Keenan if I had to just straight up choose rest of season. But they're going to alternate good weeks. Probably you have to play the matchups and get lucky a little bit.
Jason Moore
Yep. It's going to be matchup dependent and that's another one of those deals where if you've got those guys where you're getting it wrong, try to try to take one of them and someone else and package and go get somebody that you know you can start week in, week out.
Mike Wright
I feel like Keenan Allen and Alan Robinson are both in this tier of you just. You have to put them in your starting lineup and you have to live with it. You know you're going to get some bad weeks. Oh, but you're going to get some great weeks as well with both of them. But if you try and pick and choose and then things generally go horribly wrong.
Andy Holloway
That reminds me, not so close on the upset this week. I think I went a little too bold for my britches.
Jason Moore
Little too almost. Very far from almost.
Andy Holloway
I loved the tweets though because it was like 27 to 3, like real quick or something and they were all like still hope here comes the Bortles. I like that Bortles panned out as an okay streamer though with two touchdowns and 242 despite the fact that they got massacred. Very disappointing week from the Jaguars. I expect you to easily be able to go into Foxborough and win that game.
Jason Moore
You know the Jaguars, they were Jaguars, Jaguars. Jaguars were down several defensive players and through that game I believe they lost three more to injury and three others.
Andy Holloway
Just left because they were sick of it.
Jason Moore
They were just disappointed. But the point is, is that their, their defense is completely demolished right now. They weren't the greatest to start but injuries have destroyed them. So that might be something to look for for streaming defense the following week or you know, wide receivers going up against.
Andy Holloway
Good call. All right. On tomorrow's show we will have our Monday night Football review. We will focus on the waiver wire and we'll also have a special guest, Marshall Falk.
