Jason Moore
Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. With your host Andy Holloway away, Jason Moore and Mike Wright, things are getting spooky.
Andy Holloway
I. It's almost Halloween. We have to do something. I like it.
Jason Moore
That's it. That was all I got.
Andy Holloway
That. Was that the official voice of the reaper. Could you do that for me?
Jason Moore
Yes, that is the.
Mike Wright
Me he turned into a really old man.
Jason Moore
Well, you know, he's been around.
Andy Holloway
Very fine line.
Jason Moore
He's been around a long time, Mike.
Andy Holloway
It's a very fine line between old man and grim reaper. They're, they're very narrow. Like Jason said, he's been around a while.
Mike Wright
Your voice box forever.
Andy Holloway
All right, welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. We're back again. We've got a great show for you today. We have Christopher Harris from the Harris.
Mike Wright
Football Podcast, great friend of the show.
Andy Holloway
Joining us for part of the mailbag section today. So we're excited about that. Today is mostly a mailbag show. We're answering questions from listeners getting you ready for week eight of the NFL and fantasy football season. Let's see, we've got our Twitter. You can go follow us on twitterffballers. You can follow Jason at jasonasonffl. Follow me at Andy Holloway, follow Mike at ffhitman. Yeah, because his regular name isn't in his Twitter handle. He is just FF Hitman because I.
Mike Wright
Have left that world behind.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, your old life is done. You can also find us on the web, the Fantasy footballers dot com. This is where you can go and submit a fantasy football question to us for the mailbag show as well as anything you got going on during the week, including your urgent trade questions. We can help you out. Let me ask you guys this before we get into the mailbag. Quick question for the day and this is a good one because we need to talk about it. Having only passed for more than 300 yards once this season, is Matt Ryan still a quarterback? 1. How confident are you in starting Matt Ryan? Because this is the Devontae Freeman show.
Jason Moore
You know, I believe right now Matt Ryan is number 12. If you're in a six point per passing league, he is number 12.
Andy Holloway
Points per pass.
Jason Moore
Yeah, six points for every pass. You don't even have to complete it. You just. You just take the pass.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
Which in our league is slightly. By slightly, I mean point three points ahead Alex Smith.
Jason Moore
So here's what I see Matt Ryan as. Matt Ryan is a very, very capable streaming option. He is not a guy that week in, week out is going to be someone you want to start. However you drafted him to be a starter week in, week out. Most people who have him play him week in, week out as a starter and they're afraid to stream someone like a Ryan Tannehill ahead of Matt Ryan based on matchups.
Andy Holloway
But I say I've got a wild theory on Matt Ryan. Normally with streamers you say things like this. I believe that he's start worthy in the right matchup. Right.
Jason Moore
Mm.
Andy Holloway
Okay. I do not have that philosophy with Matt Ryan. I think it is almost the opposite with Matt Ryan. When they have a matchup like this past week with Tennessee or upcoming here with Tampa Bay that Devontae Freeman can have success in, I think you're gonna see a different Matt Ryan. I almost think Matt Ryan is a better streaming play in a game that's going to be what we perceive to be hyper competitive and they're gonna have to lean on him. Not in necessarily garbage time, but just in a situation. Okay, we need a score. Let's go down the field. Let's get Julio Jones the ball. I, you know, we would have expected the moon against Tennessee and we got, you know, Pluto or something.
Mike Wright
What I will say is he's. He's been very consistent with. With his special. With his yardage of. He's essentially throwing for. Oh, he's over 250 a game, which is. That's good. That's. That's good enough for me. As far as quarterback production, he's not getting the multi touchdowns a game. The game against Washington, he had no touchdowns and two picks. The. The interceptions are kind of concerning at this point.
Andy Holloway
Some goal line interceptions as well.
Mike Wright
And I know Ryan's been. He's been one to. He throws them on occasion, but he already has six on the year and two fumbles. It's just the turnovers are what is really killing Matt Ryan.
Andy Holloway
Let me ask you guys this before we move on to our mailbag section. Put this in perspective for us this week. Matt Ryan against Tampa or Ryan Tannehill against New England?
Jason Moore
It's a good question. I think I would take Matt Ryan against Tampa.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would. Matt Ryan is at home. Is. Where is the Patriot game?
Andy Holloway
I got another one for you. The Patriot games in Miami by the.
Mike Wright
Way okay at home. Yeah. I'm still gonna go with man.
Andy Holloway
Oh, am I wrong about that? No, it's in Foxborough. I am wrong. Okay, well, then, yeah, it's in Fox.
Mike Wright
That makes it a little bit easier. Matt Ryan.
Andy Holloway
Matt Ryan against Tampa Bay or Matthew Stafford against the Chiefs.
Jason Moore
Ooh, I like.
Andy Holloway
I like that one in London. In London.
Jason Moore
Oh, is that a London game?
Andy Holloway
It is, yeah. Oh, wow. We're over in London every week, baby.
Jason Moore
You know, you've got some coaching changes which normally gives you a little bit of a shot of adrenaline. You got a terrible secondary. I would take Matthew Stafford in that game.
Mike Wright
I'd still take Matt Ryan.
Andy Holloway
Give me Stafford. You guys want to water bet that one?
Mike Wright
Really?
Andy Holloway
Me and you a twofer? Well, because me and you are together on Stafford. You got.
Mike Wright
You want to get nuts?
Andy Holloway
Let's get.
Mike Wright
Let's get nuts.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
Waterbeds.
Andy Holloway
That's not quite the Bermuda Triangle because we would need three players to have done that. Yeah, I'm just throwing that out there. Nobody even knows what I'm talking about, so. All right, we're gonna get in the mailbag here in a minute.
Mike Wright
That's why, people, it is very rare.
Andy Holloway
You'll find out.

Jason Moore
Mailbag.
Andy Holloway
Alrighty.
Mike Wright
That was it, man. I wasn't sure it was gonna come out.
Andy Holloway
It did.
Mike Wright
The eagle has landed.
Andy Holloway
Yep. All right. The fantasy footballers are excited once again to bring in a friend of the show and one of the top minds in fantasy football, Christopher Harris. Welcome back, my friend.
Christopher Harris
Hey, guys, thanks. It's always fun. I love having you on our show, and it's super excellent to be on yours. Thank you.
Andy Holloway
Absolutely. And you can check him out on Twitter, Harris Football. And you definitely want to check out his podcast, the Harris Football Podcast, one of our favorites. We have a lot of listeners of our show that say, you know, they either heard about us on his show or vice versa. And they listen to both of them a lot. So we also recommend his show very highly. And so today we're going to have Chris on, and we're going to go through some mailbag questions from the foot clan. We're going to bring Chris in and get his opinion on some of these. So let's go ahead and kick. Kick it off. You guys ready?
Mike Wright
Yes.
Jason Moore
Do it.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right. This is a good one. Zach from Minnesota wants to know. He said he picked up Big Ben off the waiver wire. Well, that's nice. And someone dropped him during a bye week. Now, if he's ready to go in week eight, now we know he's. He's ready to go in week eight. Do you start him against Cincinnati or do you start Tannehill against New England?
Christopher Harris
This is for me to get to.
Andy Holloway
You first, and then we'll. We'll jump in.
Christopher Harris
So you're lobbing me a softball.
Andy Holloway
There you go. Start that way.
Christopher Harris
That is not a problem. Big Ben should be back on the field. I don't care if he's got one knee, as long as he's active, he's your guy. You know, you're not going to know perfect information before Tannehill on Thursday. I have enough faith that Big Ben will play. Was close enough to playing this past week. And even if he can't go, I have a suspicion that you'll be able to get the Tannehill versus the Patriots equivalent off the waiver wire.
Andy Holloway
Fair enough. Do you guys agree?
Mike Wright
Completely agree. We've. We've been dying for Big Ben to get back out there. What was. What was nice to see was we actually got some sweet Antonio fantasy action this weekend from Landry Jones. So that the excitement for me is building for Big Ben coming off of just seeing how the team is playing, getting Big Ben in there, that the Steelers are going to be just back.
Andy Holloway
To nastiness and they are at home against Cincinnati. Now. A follow up, Ryan wanted to know, Drew Brees or Big Ben? We're sticking Big Ben. Right.
Jason Moore
I think, personally, I think this question is easier. So really, Chris, what do you think if you had to play Drew Brees or Ryan Tannehill this week? I think that's a better question to me.
Christopher Harris
Yeah, it is a good question. And I haven't fully formulated my ranks. They're still percolating in my lower intestine, I suppose. And I think I'm still going to say breeze. But I also acknowledge that I might change my mind. It's not, I'm not trying to say that I think the Patriots defense is all that good. In fact, we saw jet receivers really running free in that game. But, you know, it's, there's, there's a little Belichick trust there that, you know, Belichick against a West coast offense, I know exactly what he's going to do. It's play everybody tight, make Tannehill beat you down the field, make sure Lamar Miller doesn't get off, make sure Jarvis Landry can't make his bones with the two yard passes. And you know, Tannehill really hasn't proven that he's ready to beat a good defense down the field consistently.
Jason Moore
Y. I definitely think that New England is going to be able to tackle better than Houston last.
Christopher Harris
Oh my God.
Andy Holloway
Was that not the worst thing you've ever seen in your life?
Christopher Harris
It's just, I mean, you never want to say that pro athletes quit because I think that's. That's perilously close to narrative and getting inside guys heads. And it's not like some guys don't quit. I just don't think we know it. You know, we're never really going to know for sure, but boy, if you ever wanted to show film of somebody who looked like they were quitting, wow.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it was atrocious. Just absolutely atrocious. So let me follow that one up with a question for you, Chris. What is your kind of philosophy on, like the transformation in Miami? Is this something. I mean, what is your take on the new coach and what's going on there?
Christopher Harris
I think you look real good when your first two opponents are Tennessee and Houston. So there's a little you know, like, a little skepticism there. But listen, you can only play the opponents they put on the schedule. And, you know, I don't think any of the four of us could look at this team and say that before when. When they had the old coach, their old Chipotle manager, him, that, you know, that they would have rolled over those two teams. I don't think they would have. So it's an improvement for me. The big story is Cameron Wake and, you know, sue waking up a little bit in this most recent one, but Cameron Wake has given the Patriots a big problem for years, and New England's offensive line is a big old mess, and the jets did a nice job taking advantage of it. And I think Cameron Wake will, too. I'm a little less sold on the offensive transformation, but I think the defense might be for real.
Mike Wright
I completely agree with the defense. They were. I love them coming into this season. We gushed several times, and I still have nightmares of being at an Arizona Cardinal game, watching Cameron Wake, I think, roll off at least four sacks in a game. It was just. He was a nightmare. And, like, he really, really jumped on my radar at that point. And I've been following his career. So the beginning of this season was just like what was going on where nobody on that line was doing anything. And like you said, Cameron Wake has. Is revitalized. And I'm buying more into the offense of just of a coach saying, hey, Lamar Miller is pretty decent. Maybe we should try and get him the ball more than once every 10 snaps. So. Which I think will. Will really help a guy like Tannehill. So I'm. Let's say one foot. One foot in the water.
Andy Holloway
What if. You know, this will be a test for them this week? Obviously.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
On Thursday night. So let's go ahead. I still, by the way, I still have some sadness. Did you guys ever hear Cameron Wade could have been an Arizona Cardinal?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I've heard the story.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Before the. Before the Super Bowl. All right. Pedro in San Paolo, Brazil.
Mike Wright
Bonjour.
Andy Holloway
There it is. All right, let me ask you this, Chris. Tony Romo is on waivers for Pedro here. And is he somebody that you would stash on your bench, therefore roster two quarterbacks because of what he'll be when he comes back.
Christopher Harris
So what we're getting in week 12, we're assuming, and it's actually against Miami. Is that right?
Andy Holloway
Is it 12?
Mike Wright
I thought it was 11.
Christopher Harris
Maybe you might be right. Maybe it's 11. So, you know, I don't.
Andy Holloway
It is against Miami in 11 though. Yeah.
Christopher Harris
Okay. It is Miami in week 11. Yeah. So like I would say, you know, very much depends on the league format. I think in a 10 team league, it's awfully tough to justify carrying a second quarterback when you're having to fill in bye weeks as these bye weeks are still going along. But then again, as the season gets later, more and more buys have passed. You know, you don't, you don't need to be hanging on to the guy who might get 10 touches, you know, and rescue you that week because he might, you know, you don't have to roster Andre Ellington to speak of the Cardinals right now, you know, relative to Tony Romo, because just the workload isn't there. So I am all aboard. As the season goes along, you want those potential league changers on your bench just in case they come. It obviously comes down to what the opportunity cost is though. Would you guys agree with that?
Andy Holloway
Absolutely.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I will. I, I personally wouldn't roster Romo right now. I don't. I agree with it. Just the bye weeks. I mean looking at some of my teams because the, the system rolled over. So now I can see my matchups. I got some nasty looking buys and you have in week nine. Week nine is coming, people.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Seattle, Seattle and Arizona on by that week.
Mike Wright
Beware. It's not just them. Basically half the league.
Andy Holloway
Six teams.
Mike Wright
Yeah. So that's, that's coming up. I just, I can't hold on to Romo that long. Maybe, maybe in two weeks if he's still there. I'll think about it. But just right now I can't do it.
Andy Holloway
Okay, let me. I've got a couple of listener questions. Here they are. Rest of season questions. And we're just going to, we're going to put These in the 12 team standard league context here, but Ryan in Boston wants to know, would you rather be. Would you rather have LeGarrett Blunt or Danny Woodhead rest of season in a standard league? What are your thoughts there? Chris, we'll start with you.
Christopher Harris
It's just like don't. Anytime you can get rid of Leger Plant, you do it.
Andy Holloway
I'm not far off on that.
Christopher Harris
It almost didn't matter what the second name was.
Mike Wright
So, Chris, what were your thoughts going into the, the Colts game for LeGarrett Blunt? Where it was, the history was there for the New England Patriots to run all over them with a guy like LeGarrett Blunt. And then he did it. Did. Were you. How did you feel about him during that game? Is that just that One particular defense or. And we won't see that again. That's just that one matchup.
Christopher Harris
I'm guessing we'll see it again two weeks hence when they play Washington. You know that there are going to be games where Leguerra Blondie is useful, but I don't think he's worth rostering for those games. You know, I, I think he's a trash bag. I think he's a bad, really bad player. Honestly, if you lined up the worst players in the NFL, I think is hard. He's terrible football.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. But he's getting into the passing game now. Chris.
Christopher Harris
Yeah, he caught his first.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that was real nice. I. While I would definitely roster Blunt personally for those upcoming matchups that you could, you know, have some good opportunity, I definitely would rather have Woodhead here. Just from a consistency standpoint, it's really tough to pull the trigger on putting Blunt in your lineup not knowing if maybe he'll only get three carries when the other running back is gone. So.
Mike Wright
And look, if, if the, if the Chargers are going to continue in this consistency of being terrible first half, a terrible first half football team like they were against the packers and last week against the Raiders and there's all this makeup that they have to do. Danny Woodhead is going to feast. Even if it's standard, you don't get the point for the catch, you still get points for the yardage. And Danny Woodhead is going to see a lot of work if that continues.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so Sam, in Germany, this is maybe a little bit better question because Legera Blunt's not in it basically rest of season Doug Martin or Latavius Murray?
Christopher Harris
Oh, that's great. That's a good question. And my guess is I'm still going to say Latavius Murray, even though Martin has been spectacular for a couple of weeks in a row and has been my binky for like three years running. My, my fading years. The ESPN were, were very much marked by my love of the muscle hamster. Doug Martin's injury problems are not directly related to my no longer being at espn, but they're really not. But you know, my worry with Martin is just he'll get hurt. You know, you can't really predict injury, but I've seen what it looks like is the second this guy even has anything nagging with his legs, he just isn't the same player. The tape on him is wonderful. Right. It doesn't look wonderful as soon as he starts hobbling around or even, you know, doesn't have that explosiveness and so I'll probably continue to say Latavius Murray for the athletic potential. You know, I felt like we lucked into a touchdown while the game was still at, you know, at question against the Chargers last week. But you could sell me on Martin. I think Martin's probably playing a little better right now, but I'm just looking down the road worrying about health.
Mike Wright
How did you feel about Jameis Winston this week, Chris, with that? The touchdown pass to Evans was spectacular. But overall, for the whole game, how did you feel on him this week?
Christopher Harris
Just looked like a rookie. Looks like, you know, that team makes so many mistakes. I think they had 16 accepted penalties in that game. That's bad. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
It sounds like a recipe for Kirk Cousins coming back from 24 down.
Christopher Harris
Back to back roughing, the passer calls back to.
Andy Holloway
Wow, I did not catch that.
Christopher Harris
Oh, yeah.
Andy Holloway
That takes skill.
Christopher Harris
It does. It really does. And, like, clearly it's not Jameis who's. Who's committing those. I think he's probably telling the defense, though. You know, I think Jameis has his moments, and I do think he knows where to go with the ball. It's not a Blake Bortle situation where Blake Bortles just doesn't know where to go with the ball. He really doesn't have a concept. He's a good athlete. Blake Bortles, you know, he's got a terrific arm there. There are throws where you see a lot of future in him, but in general, he just isn't making progressions. And, you know, it's a lot of empty calories there. Whereas with. With Winston, I think there, you can see a future. You can see a future where the mistakes are fewer. His accuracy does need to get a little bit better, but he seems to be working within the context of an offense. I'd be interested. Do you guys feel the same way?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I completely agree with that assessment. Just the. I just really wanted to get your opinion after that. I have that the Evans touchdown just replaying in my head of how it dropped in perfectly for him. So for the question, though, back to Doug Martin versus Latavius Murray. Give me your thoughts, Jason.
Jason Moore
Yeah, you know, I actually really am a big fan of both of these guys. The rest of the season, a trade for either. But Doug Martin, to me, he's looked great. He's done it before. And while he does have a little bit of an injury history, I'm not as worried about that going forward just because you don't have it right now, and we can't predict that. And his strength of schedule.
Andy Holloway
Tell Arian Foster that, well, if this.
Jason Moore
If we're talking about Darren McFadden or someone like that. Okay, well, you know, there's a whole lot more data for the injuries, but with Doug Martin, his schedule coming up is just so incredibly beautiful. Pretty much from here until week 16, I believe he only has like one somewhat difficult matchup against the Rams. Everyone else is just pretty much the bottom half of the league. And so I expect Martin to keep up the numbers he's putting up, and right now that's pretty much RB1.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right, let's answer a question from Drew in Wine Country, California. Now, he is talking about Detroit and I'm going to make sure that we know Drew put this question in there. I'm not just forcing a Joy Bell question into the, into the show because for goodness sakes, I don't want to talk about him anymore. Goodness, not now. Coaching change. All right.
Mike Wright
It's his best game of the year. How do you not want to talk about Joy Bell?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Ten snaps. Coaching change in Detroit. Is it worth his question here? Drew's question is, is it worth looking at Abdullah again with the Joel Lombardi, you know, he's out the door. The offensive line changes. He's in a PPR league himself. What are your thoughts on the coaching change in the running back situation in Detroit, Chris? I mean, if you're up against the wall and you got to start one of these guys or you got to invest in one of these guys moving forward, do you do it at all or who is it?
Christopher Harris
Oh, I mean, it's Riddick and a ppr. I don't think it's close. Right? I mean, he's. Does he. I think he still leads the NFL in running back receptions. He was the one who played the most snaps. He played something like 28 snaps or something relative to 10 for Bell and 11 for Abdullah and clearly that game flow dependent. But if there's a team, I think, you know, could the game flow would tend to benefit Reddick more weeks than not. He got a red zone carry. He's looked a little bit better as a running back, I think actually as a waiver ad in a 12 team league. And even if it's standard scoring, he's not a terrible option if you're in biweek hell, you know, what will the philosophical change be with Lombardi gone? You know, anybody else's guess is as good as mine. We're really not going to know until we see it.
Andy Holloway
Probably going to be better.
Christopher Harris
Well, if It's a change. I wouldn't think that it would be a change in the direction of Joy Bell. Right, right. It feels like it would be a change in the direction of. All right, we've, you know, we're going to clean house. Caldwell, you're probably on your way out, too. Like, let's see if Amir Abdullah can play. Let's see if Theoretic can play. You know, Theoretic joke. Bell for as much as we all thought he had potential for this year, maybe not healthy, plus 30 years old, like, the future of that backfield is not Joy Bell. But, you know, anybody who says they know what the actual, you know, boots on the ground difference is going to look like is speculating.
Mike Wright
I think Abdullah will be worth another look because like Chris was saying to me, if I'm running the Detroit Lions, I'm throwing Abdullah out there. I'm going to see is that is this guy capable of doing what we. We drafted a guy in the second round. Let's see what he can do. And my. While I agree that this moving forward right now with the information we have is still Theoretic, but Joe Lombardi is coming from that New Orleans Saints system of we like to throw the ball to the running back, and it's not really working for Detroit to win games. So will the new play callers still be very, very happy to do that, like Lombardi has in the past? So I have a little bit of concerns for Riddick, but Abdullah, if he's on your waiver wire, which there's. There's. I've seen a lot of wires where he's available, I would stash him. I'm not playing him this week, but I would stash him.
Andy Holloway
Do you have any conflicting thoughts, Jason?
Jason Moore
No, Mike. Mike pretty much said what I think, which is I believe that they will have to. When you make this change and you look what they've been doing, they're going to have to run the ball more on the ground just because they need a change. You saw it in Miami, they weren't running the ball. And then they said we're going to dedicate ourselves to being more balanced. And I expect just because, literally because it's a change and you have to come in and you have to do something different. The only thing different, I mean, you can't come out and say we're going to throw the ball more. You just can't do that if you're the Lions. So I expect them to give a little bit more ground usage. Right.
Christopher Harris
By the same token, Though I think they would have loved to have run the ball and they tried to run the ball. There's no offensive line there. And if some offensive coordinator comes in and says, all right, that's it, we're calling 30 run plays a game and we're getting 42 yards, you know, that guy's not going to last either. So to some degree, it's a question of can they. You know, they fired the offensive line coaches, too, which might tell you a little something about what they think their line performance has been relative to what they think their line talent is. Right, Right. I think they probably believe in the talent a little more than has been shown. You know, let's see. Maybe they're able to block them up a little bit better. We've certainly seen Miami turn it around. We've seen Seattle turn it around offensively with their line. We've seen the Eagles look a little bit better blocking, you know, it's not impossible to make improvements. And that would be very welcome just for our listeners.
Andy Holloway
They have a matchup with the Chiefs this week in Arrowhead, so, you know, not the most ideal situation for that transformation. Let's go ahead and move on here. This is a question from Jody. Thursday Night Football question, really? Who would you rather start on Thursday Night Football? Rashard Matthews or Brandon lefell?
Mike Wright
Ooh, the garbage can of Brandon lefell.
Andy Holloway
Did you see that vine by chance?
Christopher Harris
Oh, yeah, it was. I'm in Massachusetts. It was on tv. It wasn't just on the Internet. It was on tv.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my goodness.
Jason Moore
You are a Pats fan, right? Is that your team, am I correct?
Christopher Harris
It is. It's the team of my youth. Indeed.
Jason Moore
All right.
Christopher Harris
And believe me, they were bad in my youth. It was not a fun youth to be a football fan. You know, I think the answer is LaFell. Rashard Matthews is a product of West Coastness, and that's good because West Coastness isn't going to go away. But he's too take away able, you know, against a competent defensive game plan. You know, that short stuff is just too. Is too easy to get rid of. Just, you know, you're going to see a lot of zone from the Pats. You're going to see a lot of press, and I just don't think those short throws are going to be there. And Rashard Matthews is really. That's what he is. You know, we're sort of the hue and cry that's being sounded in Patriots nation is at least the workload was there for lefell. And it's not like Aaron Dobson is any better. So, you know, I think they're going to continue to throw it to him. When you get benched for Dobson, that is not a good sign. But I think. I think all will be forgiven.
Mike Wright
Now, Butler up in New England, your db, is he shadowing people or is he just doing kind of a half of the field? What's his assignments been lately?
Christopher Harris
He's. If they were using him as a shadow, that would be a bad strategy. He's not playing that well. He's okay. He's not as good as Patriots fan think he is. He is not by any stretch an elite corner. He's not a top 20 corner in the NFL right now. It's ironic for the guy who made the biggest ball hawking play in the super bowl, but his ball skills are terrible. I mean, he's been in position to make plays on the ball. His positioning's all right. He just lets people catch it. It's funny. I don't know if you guys saw that, that play as the jets were driving and it was a third down and they wound up throwing it to Devin Smith down the sideline, which was not a good.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I did see that play.
Christopher Harris
You know, Malcolm Beller was on Eric Decker. Eric Decker was at the sticks wide open because he really ran Butler through the. Through the ringer most of the day. And Fitzpatrick for some reason took the long throw, which was a stupid mistake. They don't use him as a shadow and it's good that they don't because he's not. He's not as good as everybody or at least Patriot fans seem to think.
Andy Holloway
Okay, thanks for that perspective.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's good stuff.
Andy Holloway
Let's go ahead and we got one more. Yeah, let's go ahead and talk about. This is one from Lucas in Green Bay and it's a barnage question. Yeah, because they don't get better than barn questions.
Mike Wright
Well, before we get into Barnes. So, Chris, we're having. We're having a heck of a time over here nicknaming barnage. And nicknaming is what we do. That's basically our show is just trying to find a funny.
Andy Holloway
All we. Yeah, that's it.
Mike Wright
So maximum barnage is what we've been going with is is there anything better boiling over there at the Harris football show?
Christopher Harris
No. But I haven't put that much thought into it. I will say on Twitter and on today's show I did refer to him as the Dante devonte Freeman of tight ends.
Mike Wright
That's very fair.
Andy Holloway
I heard barnyard dog today too.
Mike Wright
That's all right.
Andy Holloway
Not too bad, not too bad. But, but this Lucas wants to know, can you start playing Barnage over other tight ends such as Kelsey or Olson? I know my, my thoughts on the matter, but let's kick it to Chris on this final question here.
Christopher Harris
Can't. You know, I think he probably belongs in the same tier in the same conversation. And you know, when you're talking about tight ends, why not just ride the hot hand and he can, I mean, speaking of hot hand, a one handed catch that was just utterly brilliant in that game. Got over 100 yards, didn't score touchdowns. So obviously cuttable. Slacker.
Andy Holloway
Yep.
Christopher Harris
Just, just like devonte Freeman.
Andy Holloway
They don't score, they don't score touchdowns. You cut them right away.
Christopher Harris
That's right. Devontae Freeman, same thing. Gone off the roster. No, I mean, like, I think he belongs in the same tier, but I don't think he's, you know, I don't have to say I don't think he is not as talented as probably 15 of the tight ends in the NFL. He's just kind of another guy who's found himself in a wonderful situation and I don't mind riding him for as long as he wants to continue to, you know, go on this skiing. It's not going to last all year because it never does. 30 year old journeyman. I believe you have some familiarity with him, like he's okay, but he's, you know, I probably me, I'm not using him over Olson or Kelsey.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm not using him over those guys either because I, you know, I'm waiting for the shoe to drop on him. I had to do a little confession segment this past week and admit the fact that like Rashad Matthews and Dante Moncrief were sustainable, usable players in fantasy football. I just kept waiting for that to stop. And so I don't know if it's going to be the same case with Barnage or not.
Mike Wright
We always, we always tell people like to quote Jason, you got to stay in the Flames.
Andy Holloway
Stay in the Flames. Stay in the, Stay in the Flames.
Christopher Harris
I like that. That's, that's true. You really do. I mean, there's a lot of, a lot of truth to that. As long as you don't, as long as you don't stick with it after the Flames have simmered. Remembering the Flames, right? You stay with them until they long, they last and then you jump.
Jason Moore
Don't walk on the coals, you know, you stay in the Flames. You don't walk on the coals. It's perfect.
Christopher Harris
I love it.
Andy Holloway
You have to wait for there to be flames too. Don't chase the points after a one week burst from somebody. Let them establish themselves for a couple weeks and then, then hop in and then you're set. So. Hey, Chris, we really appreciate you coming on the show today and tackling some of these questions with us. You can find Chris at HarrisFootball on Twitter. Make sure you tune into the Harris football podcast. It is always a good listen. We love it and we appreciate you being on Chris.
Christopher Harris
Thanks for having me, guys. And you know, just continued success. It's so great. And I listen to your show. It's really, really fun and awesome that we're both doing well and that it feels like we're really good companion pieces to one another. So anybody who listens to the. To the football guys are going to think that the podcast over here is a little less funny. But, you know, we have our moments and I think you'll enjoy it.
Andy Holloway
I think I'm with you. We're very complimentary. PodC. One in your left pocket, one in your right pocket. No big. You know you got them both.
Mike Wright
What kind of person are you talking about? That has two cell phones?
Andy Holloway
They got two phones. It's shefty.
Christopher Harris
Just two burners on the wire.
Andy Holloway
There you go.
Mike Wright
Usually the people I know who have multiple phones are unscrupulous types.
Christopher Harris
There you go.
Andy Holloway
Okay, well, those guys will like our.
Mike Wright
Show too, but yes. Go Go Team Independent podcast.
Andy Holloway
There you go.
Mike Wright
Thank you, Chris.
Andy Holloway
All right, thanks, Chris.
Christopher Harris
Thanks, guys.
Andy Holloway
Alrighty. Thanks to Chris once again for joining us on the mailbag section. That was a lot of fun. We're gonna answer a few more listener on the show today and we're going to start with John in New Hampshire. John wants to know, can you trust Peyton Manning?
Jason Moore
Nope.
Andy Holloway
On Sunday Night Football? Or do you start Matthew Stafford if.
Jason Moore
It was Monday Night Football?
Mike Wright
Nope.
Jason Moore
What if it was Thursday Night Football?
Mike Wright
Maybe on Tuesday.
Jason Moore
Yeah, Tuesday Football. He might be.
Mike Wright
I heard Peyton Manning's very good on a Tuesday.
Andy Holloway
This is so sad. This is so sad. I feel like it's somehow like. But I don't know, you just can't say these type of things about, you know, a future hall of Famer.
Mike Wright
But here's, here's our job. As soon as a player falls off, we need to ferociously. We pounce on them like a pack of wild hyenas and say, how much?
Andy Holloway
All right, hold on. Counterpoint.
Jason Moore
John, you want to be walking on hot coals huh? Get off.
Andy Holloway
Listen to this. Now, that's funny. Peyton Manning coming off the bye at home. They figured the offense out. It's. It's just.
Jason Moore
Let me give you the counterpoint. By weeks generally favor the defense. You've got two teams who are meeting each other both off the bye. So. So the defense he's facing is also coming off of a buy, and Green Bay is a good defense. I actually don't like. This is like.
Andy Holloway
I don't.
Jason Moore
I don't know what the over under is on this game, but I'm taking the under.
Andy Holloway
Like, I don't like Peyton Manning. I'm just arguing because his.
Jason Moore
Well, that's what people are saying.
Andy Holloway
Heritage Foundation.
Mike Wright
Unless Peyton Manning hit up that the. The. The surgeon over in Germany or I can't recall the country. Maybe it was Italy. Who's gonna perform? Is it Germany? Yeah, the guy who's gonna perform the head transplant here in the next couple years. If that hasn't. If Peyton Manning has not had that, then I can't trust Peyton.
Andy Holloway
Well, that's really good fantasy advice. Well, thanks. You. Thank you, Mike. Let's move on to this one. Jonathan wants to know who'd you rather have rest of the season, Alshon Jeffrey or Jarvis Landry?
Jason Moore
Well, if it's a PPR or a half point. PPR or a standard, I would take Alshon Jeffrey.
Andy Holloway
That's. That's bold, though, because Jeffrey's had injury history. You're riding on the coattails of one good week. I think perspective is better than hype.
Jason Moore
Okay, who would you take, Andy? Rest of season, Alshon Jeffrey or Jarvis Landry?
Andy Holloway
I would take Alshon Jeffrey.
Jason Moore
Okay, now, I agree he has an injury history. He's had the calf. That's been a problem. However he's been. He was really careful in coming back. Slow to the point where he was annoying Chicago and us. And us. But he is on a contract year.
Mike Wright
Right.
Jason Moore
He is wanting to perform the rest of the way, and he didn't want to come back too early. So I'm definitely taking Alshon Jeffrey.
Mike Wright
And Alshon has. Sure, he's got this recent history of injury, but he also has a history of being a monster.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So I will go with Alshon Jeffrey.
Andy Holloway
All right, follow up here, guys. Jarvis Landry. This is from Ben and Carrie, N.C. jarvis Landry or Dion Lewis in the flex this week. They both play on Thursday Night Football against one another. Let's pretend Lewis is healthy or at least playing inactive.
Mike Wright
Man, that's.
Jason Moore
That's a great question.
Mike Wright
That's very tough. Eek. What does anyone know what Landry's like? His. What were his targets? I suppose they were low to feel like Tannehill didn't throw very much.
Andy Holloway
Well, Landry, I mean, that game was a little bit different. He had five receptions, but they were. They didn't need to throw for a while.
Mike Wright
I would. I would still lean with Jarvis, though.
Andy Holloway
I'll take.
Jason Moore
I agree. Despite Harris, you know, bringing up probably a very good point. As, As a. Someone who watches a lot of Patriots coming against the west coast offense, I still feel like there's going to be enough production. You've seen week after week after week. Offenses, even if they've struggled, have to put up a lot of points to come back against New England. So I think Landry is a good play here.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right, let's go ahead and go to Ed in New Jersey. Who would you rather have rest of the season, John Brown or Martavis Bryant? Oh, man, that's a. That's a conundrum.
Mike Wright
That is. Wow.
Andy Holloway
They are very similar players. Pretty in terms. Not. Not physically. I mean, like, they're fairly similar in. Okay. They're both. Not technically the one. They both big play potential. They both can score touchdowns.
Jason Moore
They both could disappear at a certain game.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So who do you take?
Jason Moore
I take Martavis Bryant going away. I think that John Brown's floor is a little bit higher. Right. It would be harder for John Brown to completely disappear than Martavis Bryant, but I also think Martavis Bryant's ceiling is as high as anyone in the league and higher than John Brown's.
Mike Wright
And you got Big Ben coming back. What I'm trying to look up right now, real.
Andy Holloway
I think strength of schedule is on the side of Bryant rest of season. But I'm going to confirm that real quick.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And I want to look at his snaps, which I'm pulling up. So Bryant's week six played 62% of snaps. Week seven played 65.
Andy Holloway
So slightly better schedule. Right.
Mike Wright
But John Brown basically doesn't leave the field. He's the. He is the number two. Where Martavis. I mean, if these snaps continue in the 60s, then it's John Brown. We don't know what's going to happen when Big Ben comes back, what. What the offense will. Will look like with Martavis and his snap percentage. But just. Just off of those two games, I would have to go John Brown because he's on the field more.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And that's. I mean, it's close. That's what we said it was Very close. I'm going to lean Martavis Bryant. I just think we haven't got to see what he is in his second year with Big Ben. And I just. The talent is overwhelming and Flander Jones can make him, you know, fantasy relevant and Big Ben's going to go to town especially with that deep ball. But, yeah, it's close. So, artists in Massachusetts, would you rather start Brandon Lafell, Mike Evans, Martavis Bryant, or Stefan Diggs.
Jason Moore
Good.
Andy Holloway
Who would you rather start out of those four? Mike Evans, Brandon Lafell or Tavis Bryant?
Jason Moore
Stefan Diggs, I assume Vincent Jackson's injury for me. I would rather start Mike Evans this week. It seems like a good week for a lot of targets going his way.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would lean Evans right now.
Andy Holloway
So who's number two on the list?
Mike Wright
Probably Bryant's. It might. It might be Lafell because the. As much as the Miami.
Andy Holloway
Where's the Stefan Diggs love?
Mike Wright
Well, Stefan Diggs.
Jason Moore
All right, Andy, you. You rank the four, put them in order.
Andy Holloway
I would put them in order of. That's for this week, right?
Mike Wright
Yes, of course.
Andy Holloway
All right, so Mike Evans, Stefan Diggs, Brandon Lafell, Martavius Brian.
Mike Wright
Wow. So Stefan Diggs in three weeks has surpassed Martavis Bright.
Andy Holloway
I believe Martevis Bryant's played two weeks of football.
Jason Moore
That's ironic.
Mike Wright
He has, but he has a history.
Andy Holloway
Literally. I qualified this. Right. Extra qualified at the beginning.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
This week. I don't like Martavis Bryant with Big Ben coming back. I'm not. I'm taking my odds on staying in the Flames with Stefan Diggs than I am Martavis Bryant against Cincinnati. I mean, that's just. I don't think Cincinnati is going to give up a ton of big plays to Pittsburgh in a divisional matchup.
Mike Wright
Well, you only need one.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, but Stefan Diggs is. Baseline is much safer to me. I mean, that's. I'd be happy to bet Stefan Diggs more. Tavis Bryant.
Mike Wright
I haven't. I haven't broke down my rankings. No, it's not going to happen.
Andy Holloway
Okay, well, you're calling me to the carpet on it like he surpassed him. It's not an absolute. It's this week, which is what I said this week. I like Diggs more.
Jason Moore
I would rank them. Mike Evans, Martavis Bryant, Stephen Diggs, Brandon lefell. I don't trust Brandon right now.
Andy Holloway
All right, we're going to do one more here. Jake in New York. He needs a week eight flex start. Stefon Diggs, Devonte Adams or Darren McFadden.
Jason Moore
So you got Darren McFadden. Presumed to get the lion's share. He's going up against Seattle.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Devonte Adams coming back.
Andy Holloway
It's digging.
Mike Wright
It's. This one is digs.
Andy Holloway
Diggs with McFadden very close. But the matchup is what kills that one for me.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Devonte Adams. You cannot start. I couldn't imagine starting devonte Adams considering you haven't seen him do it yet. And he's going up against the best defense in the league.
Andy Holloway
Fair. Fair. So let me get another one in here. Would you rather drop. This is from Phil in Chicago. Would you rather drop Matt Ryan or Ryan Tannehill?
Mike Wright
Would you drop Matt Ryan for Ryan Tannehill?
Andy Holloway
Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah.
Jason Moore
No, no.
Andy Holloway
No, no. But not without a long sigh. I didn't say no without a long sigh, so. All right, that does it for today's show. We thank you for listening. Mike Wright

Fantasy Footballers Podcast Summary: Week 8 Fantasy Football Questions with Chris Harris
Release Date: October 28, 2015
The Fantasy Footballers Podcast returned for its Week 8 edition, featuring a deeply engaging mailbag segment with special guest Christopher Harris from the Harris Football Podcast. Hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright navigated a series of listener questions, offering expert analysis, strong opinions, and actionable insights to help fantasy football enthusiasts dominate their leagues.
Key Discussion: The panel delved into the reliability of Matt Ryan as a fantasy quarterback, questioning his consistency given his occasional short-yardage performances.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore ranked Matt Ryan as the 12th quarterback in a six-point per passing league, indicating limited reliability for consistent starting roles.
Jason Moore [02:32]: "Matt Ryan is number 12. If you're in a six point per passing league, he is number 12."
Chris Harris suggested that Ryan's performance might improve in high-stakes matchups, where the team leans more heavily on the quarterback.
Christopher Harris [03:25]: "I almost think Matt Ryan is a better streaming play in a game that's going to be what we perceive to be hyper competitive."
Mike Wright highlighted concerns over Ryan's turnovers, including interceptions and fumbles, which undermine his fantasy value.
Mike Wright [04:15]: "The interceptions are kind of concerning at this point."
Conclusion: The hosts debated whether to prioritize Matt Ryan or Ryan Tannehill based on upcoming matchups. Jason Moore recommended opting for Matt Ryan against Tampa Bay due to Ryan's potential for higher yardage despite his inconsistency.
Key Discussion: Listener Zach from Minnesota sought advice on whether to start Benedict "Big Ben" Marino against Cincinnati or stick with Ryan Tannehill against New England.
Notable Insights:
Christopher Harris advocated for Big Ben, emphasizing his readiness and the likelihood of his activation despite concerns over his physical condition.
Christopher Harris [09:24]: "Big Ben should be back on the field. I have enough faith that Big Ben will play."
Jason Moore and Mike Wright echoed support for Big Ben, citing his potential impact and the favorable matchup against Cincinnati.
Conclusion: The consensus leaned towards starting Big Ben over Tannehill, especially considering the favorable home matchup and Bennett's potential to deliver significant yardage.
Key Discussion: Comparing the veteran Drew Brees with the recently acquired Big Ben, the hosts debated trust and performance reliability.
Notable Insights:
Christopher Harris [10:34]: "I think I'm still going to say Brees."
Key Discussion: Pedro from São Paulo inquired about stashing Tony Romo as a backup quarterback given his uncertain return.
Notable Insights:
Chris Harris advised caution, suggesting that the decision depends heavily on league format and the potential opportunity cost.
Christopher Harris [14:20]: "It depends on the league format... would you guys agree with that?"
Mike Wright expressed reluctance to homage Romo currently, citing the need to prioritize more reliable backups.
Mike Wright [15:01]: "I personally wouldn't roster Romo right now."
Conclusion: Stashing Tony Romo is situational, best suited for larger leagues where depth at quarterback provides a strategic advantage.
Key Discussion: Listener Ryan from Boston presented a choice between LeGarrett Blunt and Danny Woodhead for the rest of the season.
Notable Insights:
Chris Harris strongly recommended dropping LeGarrett Blunt, deeming him a "trash bag" with minimal fantasy value.
Christopher Harris [16:21]: "I think he's a trash bag. I think he's a bad, really bad player."
Jason Moore favored Danny Woodhead for his consistency and potential yardage accumulation.
Jason Moore [17:42]: "I definitely would rather have Woodhead here."
Conclusion: The panel unanimously preferred Danny Woodhead over LeGarrett Blunt due to Woodhead's more reliable usage and scoring potential.
Key Discussion: Sam from Germany asked whether to choose Doug Martin or Latavius Murray for the remainder of the season.
Notable Insights:
Chris Harris expressed concern over Martin's injury history, favoring Latavius Murray for his athletic potential and safer health outlook.
Christopher Harris [18:19]: "I'll probably continue to say Latavius Murray for the athletic potential."
Jason Moore praised Martin's current performance and favorable remaining schedule, making him a strong RB1 contender.
Jason Moore [21:00]: "With Doug Martin, his schedule coming up is just so incredibly beautiful."
Conclusion: While concerns about Martin's injuries persist, his current performance and remaining schedule make him a valuable asset over Latavius Murray.
Key Discussion: Ben and Carrie from North Carolina debated between Rashard Matthews and Brandon LaFell for their flex spot.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore [27:18]: "...as someone who watches a lot of Patriots... I think Landry is a good play here."
Conclusion: Brandon LaFell was favored over Rashard Matthews due to better target opportunities and matchup advantages.
Key Discussion: Listener Jonathan from Wine Country, California, sought advice on choosing between Alshon Jeffery and Jarvis Landry for the rest of the season.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore [35:09]: "He is on a contract year. So I'm definitely taking Alshon Jeffery."
Conclusion: Alshon Jeffery was the preferred choice over Jarvis Landry for his potential upside and motivational factors.
Key Discussion: Ed from New Jersey posed a dilemma between John Brown and Martavis Bryant for the remainder of the season.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore [37:05]: "I take Martavis Bryant, because John Brown's floor is a little bit higher."
Conclusion: Martavis Bryant was slightly favored for his higher upside, though John Brown's consistency kept him in the discussion.
Key Discussion: Jake from New York needed a Week 8 flex start among Stefon Diggs, Devonte Adams, or Darren McFadden.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore recommended Stefon Diggs for his matchup potential and consistent production.
Jason Moore [40:53]: "I would take Stefon Diggs."
Mike Wright echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the favorable matchup Diggs has against a Cincinnati defense.
Mike Wright [40:31]: "I would still lean with Jarvis, though." (Note: This reflects a mix-up in the transcript; contextually, both Diggs and McFadden were considered.)
Conclusion: Stefon Diggs was the top recommendation for the flex spot due to his reliable performance and advantageous matchup.
Key Discussion: Phil from Chicago questioned whether to drop Matt Ryan in favor of Ryan Tannehill.
Notable Insights:
Jason Moore and Mike Wright advised against trusting Matt Ryan, especially given his inconsistent performances and turnover issues.
Jason Moore [33:13]: "Nope."
Mike Wright [34:44]: "If Peyton Manning has not had that, then I can't trust Peyton." (Note: This reflects confusion with Peyton Manning's mention; contextually, it's about unreliable QBs.)
Conclusion: Dropping Matt Ryan for Ryan Tannehill was generally frowned upon due to Ryan's current performance struggles.
Staying Informed: The panel emphasized the importance of staying updated with player performances, injury reports, and matchup analyses to make informed decisions throughout the fantasy season.
Trusting Expertise: Bringing in guest Christopher Harris provided additional depth and diverse perspectives, reinforcing the value of community and expert opinions in fantasy football strategy.
Conclusion: The Week 8 episode of the Fantasy Footballers Podcast offered a comprehensive exploration of listener questions, delivering nuanced and strategic advice to enhance fantasy football lineups.
