To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.
Mike Wright
Welcome into the show. Tuesday, June 28th. It's a good one. That was Jason.
Andy Holloway
Did you guys do anything this weekend?
Mike Wright
No. Nope.
Andy Holloway
No.
Mike Wright
Nothing.
Jason Moore
I did something.
Mike Wright
Oh, wait, there was one thing.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I went to a big party. Yeah, it was at your house, Andy.
Mike Wright
It was. There were so many children there.
Jason Moore
We have a lot of kids.
Mike Wright
We have way too many children. We did it.
Andy Holloway
Oh, man. So how do we want to do this? Do we want to. For those who. For those who watched and watched the podcast wars. That's what we're talking about here. We're talking about podcast awards. Those who watched the. The show, you made it through. You were with us. You experienced it in the moment. Thank you so much. As well as a monster. Thank you for all the votes. We don't win. We don't win unless the Foot Clan gets out there and supports the show. So this is a victory for all of us. And that sounds maybe cliche or whatever, but I really, really mean that. That this was a victory for all of us. And I. It was just an unbelievable moment for all of us and that we got to share with the families as well.
Mike Wright
Just so that I can. I'll dial it back a little bit in case you don't know exactly what we're talking about.
Jason Moore
Maybe this is the first time you're listening to our show here.
Mike Wright
We were nominated because of the. Of our listeners. We were nominated for the sports and recreation category@podcastawards.com going up against nine other great shows, including our good friends, some of the best people in the industry, Adam Azer and Jamie Eisenberg and Dave Richard at CBS Sports, people that we truly respect. And so it was an honor just to be nominated in that category. And we were also nominated in the People's Choice category, which is kind of the best overall podcast. And so you guys, you took to the streets. You voted for us. We didn't know the results until last night, and I think we have a reen.
Andy Holloway
I'd love to do a reenactment.
Mike Wright
Okay, Mike. Yeah. After the reenactment, I want to tell a little story, too. Okay.
Andy Holloway
Welcome, everyone, to the 2016 Podcast Awards dot com. We want to congratulate all the nominees. But let's get right down to the brass tacks, everybody. The best sports in the People's Champions, the fantasy footballers. Oh, man. It was. It was unbelievable. It was, as Jason would say, be nanas.
Mike Wright
It's interesting because you listen to this show all the time, right? And you can tell that Jason, Mike, and myself are very different personalities. We're all unique and different. We are not the same. And that. That totally shows itself in the anticipation for the podcast awards. Me, I'm the planner, right? I'm the. I'm the organized planner. I wanted to get upstairs, make sure Skype was set up in case we won. Gotta be ready. I don't want to be downstairs. The kids are too loud. Let's get it all in order.
Jason Moore
Mike was ghost face white about the.
Andy Holloway
Past Big Foot Clan. I don't do well with the nerves. I could not be an NFL kicker.
Mike Wright
Or a pilot.
Andy Holloway
Or a pilot. Look, I just. My body does not function with the anxiety and excitement of that magnitude.
Mike Wright
So I was just kind of like a blob. I couldn't eat.
Andy Holloway
Jason's wife made this incredible meal for everybody. I couldn't even touch it because the nerves were controlling my appetite.
Mike Wright
Well, and then there's Jason. And Jason is just chilling out in the background with a giant celebratory belt over his shoulder.
Jason Moore
Well, you know, champs, gonna champ.
Mike Wright
Oh, my gosh. So truly an incredible thing. And what was really neat is we were. We were in the studio, and our kids were celebrating, and it was a lot of fun. So we cannot thank you enough. I think, you know, you've seen us on Twitter. We're very appreciative of everybody who supports the show. And I. I will say this, too. There are a number of podcast hosts from other big shows that have reached out and said congratulations to us. And they've been. They were so impressed that somehow a football podcast could pull off a victory in people's choice in the month of June, before the season's even here.
Jason Moore
And on that note, I just want to say, you know, our Foot Clan, our listeners, you guys, right now, you listening. We have said, you've heard me say plenty of times before, that we have the best listeners. Well, that was always just an opinion. That was mine. It is no longer an opinion. It is a proven fact that you listening are the most beautiful, the smartest, and the best listener of all podcasts. We've done it. You have done it.
Mike Wright
And I'll close.
Jason Moore
I'll close the.
Andy Holloway
The chatter. The celebration chatter with this, I frequently say, you know, just ingestive, we did it, America. And I don't want to leave our international nouns out of this. So you know what? We did it.
Jason Moore
Planet Earth.
Mike Wright
Yes, we did it, Planet Earth.
Andy Holloway
So thank you so much.
Mike Wright
Pretty cool.
Andy Holloway
We can actually talk about Fantasy football.
Mike Wright
Well, look here, today on this show, we. We wanted to do something to celebrate the foot clan. That made a lot of sense to us. And so we put it out on Twitter that we're gonna do a little bit of a celebration show and we're gonna answer questions from Twitter. So we have a bunch of those in there now.
Andy Holloway
We do.
Mike Wright
Okay, so we have a bunch of those. We'll get into the news and notes, talk fantasy football. If you want to connect with us, it's easy. Go to the website thefantasyfootballers.com youm can submit questions on there. You can check us out on YouTube. The subscribers on YouTube are going up. So a lot of you are checking out the studio on YouTube, including. You'll notice a few changes in the studio today. David Johnson's jersey has taken just a break because we got to rotate through some of our favorites here. We've got a new autographed Jordan Reed jersey up on the wall. Rule 86 himself from pristine auction. We've got. We've got some different things going on. So what else do we got? TwitterFFballers. If you want to connect with us and join the Foot.com if you want to be involved in the foot clan, let's go ahead. And what do you want to do? You want to get in the news?
Andy Holloway
Let's do it.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
Didn'T even give me a chance to concur with you.
Mike Wright
I told you there'd be some so rude drama. The drop application here is giving me trouble today. All right, let's go through some of this coach speak esque discussion here. Discussion points.
Andy Holloway
That's where we are in the offseason.
Mike Wright
Is this name correct? Tim Twentyman.
Andy Holloway
You know it?
Mike Wright
That's his name.
Andy Holloway
That's a copy paste.
Mike Wright
All right, Tim 20, directly from the source of the Lions website, expects Amir Abdullah to get, quote, every opportunity to carry, quote, most of the load, unquote, in the Detroit backfield.
Andy Holloway
That's interesting news. I think it's interesting.
Mike Wright
Okay, if you think it's interesting, tell me the hypothetical opposite of this.
Andy Holloway
The opposite is they.
Mike Wright
That he would not get every opportunity.
Andy Holloway
Is that they come out and they say that they're going to completely spread it around. They're going to. That Theo Riddick is going to be highly involved in passing, which we know he will be. But for them to come out and say that, to focus on Abdullah, when they have Zenner, they sign Steven Ridley to single him out and say, we're going to Give him the chance to be the guy. That's news to me, but this is.
Mike Wright
An expectation from a beat writer. So I would just pull it back with, let's wait and see. I think we all are curious what Abdullah would do with that load, are we not?
Andy Holloway
Extremely.
Jason Moore
I am.
Andy Holloway
He was, he was great down the stretch. I mean, he was over four yards of carry. It was a smaller sample size, of course, but when I think when given the chance.
Mike Wright
Abdullah himself is a smaller sample size. He is a smaller, smaller running back.
Andy Holloway
He is a little bit smaller, but I think that he has the talent to get it done.
Jason Moore
Yeah, Just, just today we put out an article on the website about running backs that could make a tear jump up. And one of those running backs was Amir Abdullah. It's because of things like this. The reality that there, there is a world where he gets the entire workload without Joy Bell there and now has dealt with his fumbleitis or the problems that he had.
Mike Wright
Well, you're hoping he will, you're saying, right?
Jason Moore
I'm saying there's, there's the world where.
Mike Wright
He said he had. Oh, okay. Okay.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I thought you said he had already done it.
Andy Holloway
I was like, no, Abdullah doesn't fumble anymore. It's great.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. He repeat. I remember how on Clyde Cloud nine, you were week one with that cut.
Andy Holloway
Oh, that was the preseason. Oh, my good. That preseason cut sent his ADP up at least three rounds.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
One cut to the cut heard around the world. All right, let's talk about what I find to be slightly more newsworthy here. Sammy Watkins was non committal about his status. Status for training camp.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, look, Sammy Watkins had, was adamant, I will be ready for training camp with the foot problem. And now he's like, well, you know, maybe I'll be ready to start week one. That's not good. That is not good. That is concerning for a player who is an elite level wide receiver. But if you're going to spend a second or third round pick on a guy, you want to know that he's going to play week one.
Jason Moore
I actually like this news for Sammy. Yeah. Let me give you a different take. No, it's the fact that with a foot injury like this that we've seen from other wide receivers, the problem is always on that first time when they come back too early. And if he, when he was saying, like, I promise I'm going to be there week one, I was worried because that was right in the time frame of where, like, if you say when can you come back? That was like the soonest you could come back from that surgery depending on when the date it was done, if we were right on our believe date of the operation. So I would like to see him take a couple more weeks and make sure he's fully healthy because Sammy Watkins, if he plays a full 16, is going to be great. The question is really his health.
Mike Wright
To me, this will lower his draft value.
Jason Moore
Great, give him to me.
Mike Wright
So you're not worried about setbacks even if he takes his time?
Jason Moore
I think we're going to see the setbacks before I draft. You know what I mean? Like training camp might be over, but if I'm drafting in August, I'm going to have an idea of he's back, he's running, he's healthy, you know, on the field today in practice. And so then at that point I won't have any problem drafting.
Mike Wright
All right. NJ.com expects giant second round receiver Sterling Shepard to be quote, an instant impact player. Where do you guys have Shepard projected? Do you buy into the hype around him and what does that even mean if he's second fiddle to Odell Beckham Jr.
Andy Holloway
I buy in that he can have an instant impact. As far as he will be an instantaneous starter week one, he will be the slot guy for the Giants. I don't have a huge projection for him. Like he's a guy that I'm willing to take a shot on towards the back of the draft. But I'm not expecting wide receiver 2 or probably even wide receiver 3 steady numbers from him.
Jason Moore
I love Sterling Shepard. He was my favorite wide receiver coming into the draft before they went to the teams that they went on. But that was just from like a film watching. When it comes to fantasy football, his ability, I have him right now down for 70 catches, 750 yards and five touchdowns. Those are pretty darn good numbers for rookie.
Mike Wright
But that somehow drops him. That's like your 53rd.
Jason Moore
That's exactly what I was going to say is that, that those type of numbers, they sound good for an incoming rookie who's going to be, you know.
Mike Wright
Sound great, possibly touch.
Jason Moore
Exactly. But it's not really the fantasy gold that you think you're getting from those numbers. It's. It's kind of, I don't know, a possible flex on certain matchups.
Mike Wright
Let's play the game right here. Sterling shepherd or Rashad Matthews?
Andy Holloway
Matthews.
Jason Moore
I would take Sterling Shepard.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
Just because.
Mike Wright
Sterling Shepard or Tavon Austin.
Andy Holloway
Tavon Austin.
Mike Wright
Sterling Shepard or Sammy Coates Coats?
Jason Moore
Sterling.
Mike Wright
All right, one more. Sterling shepherd or Tyler Boyd.
Jason Moore
Oh, that's a good one.
Andy Holloway
I'll take shepherd.
Jason Moore
Man, I'm going to say that you got to go. Shepard. I've been all about the Tyler Boyd love and I do think he's good. I do think his opportunity is there. But if you look at the difference in those two players opportunity, you have one coach who just threw Odell Beckham out there a couple years ago and said go with it. And on the other hand, you have a coach that never, ever, ever plays rookies other than the A.J. green Dalton year. Marvin Lewis does not play his rookies, especially on offense.
Mike Wright
One final one just for Mike.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
Sterling Shepherd, Chris Hogan.
Andy Holloway
Oh, come on now. You know I'm going with my man, Chris Hogan.
Mike Wright
Your rankings say you are. You got him 20 apart. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Well, good.
Mike Wright
There you go.
Andy Holloway
Hollywood Hogan up there in New England. Monster opportunities.
Jason Moore
He's got Sterling shepherd ranked number 21.
Andy Holloway
No, these. There's a gap.
Jason Moore
No, I know.
Mike Wright
He had just assumed.
Jason Moore
Hogan's your number one.
Mike Wright
Oh, all right. Lev Bell with the MCL PCL injury came out. Said he wants to quote, be able to cut and run freely before camp.
Jason Moore
It's always a good idea.
Mike Wright
I mean what, what, what is the. Did you hear more about this?
Andy Holloway
No, it was more just an injury update. So clearly he is not cutting and running freely at this time.
Mike Wright
All right, so monitor that. Hayes Carian of the Florida Times Union expects Julius Thomas to score double digit touchdowns this season.
Andy Holloway
That is interesting.
Mike Wright
It would not surprise me.
Andy Holloway
And if he, if he scores double digit touchdowns. Look, you gotta. You got a strong tight end one.
Mike Wright
Yeah. You're Tyler Iferting your way through the season.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. It doesn't matter if he gets 50 or 60 catches. If he gets 10 touchdowns, he's a great tight end option.
Mike Wright
I don't know if I'm buying into right now. I have him at 11, so I have him as a one.
Jason Moore
So you, you believe that he. Oh, you have him at not 11.
Mike Wright
Touchdowns at rank 11 at rank 11, Jason at 15, Mike at 17 as of today on our rankings on the website. So I do buy into the tight end one potential for him.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it's, it's there. But I'll take another look at Julius Thomas and my projections, but I just, I'm not sure I can get in there much higher.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I'm putting the over under it like six and a half touchdowns. So I do not buy into the double digit touchdowns here personally. Too many, too many weapons there. Plus you look at how many total touchdowns Blake Borrells through last year knowing that none went, you know, to the running back on the ground. That's going to change this year. So not, not double digits for Julius Thomas.
Mike Wright
All right, well, we are going to pay tribute to the Foot Clan in our own special way. Answering Twitter mailbag questions on the show today. Before we do that, I want to take a minute and thank our sponsor, good friends of the show, pristineauction.com that's exactly where we got this beautiful. You got to go on YouTube and check it out. This Jordan Reed autographed authentic jersey. Because everything you get from pristine auction is 100% authentic. They've been in the business for a long time. Andy Holloway
And they are fantastic. I can't wait to get these things up on the office while at home.
Mike Wright
So make sure you go to pristineauction.com that's P R I S T I N E auction.com and when you sign up there, because it's completely free to sign up, make sure you put in that you found Pristine Auction from the fantasy footballers.
Andy Holloway
We also want to thank today's sponsor, Barkbox. Look, we've got all kinds of things that we give ourselves on a month to month subscription and now we finally have one for our animals, for our dogs. Jason Moore
Mailbag.
Andy Holloway
Mailbag.
Mike Wright
If I had known about. If I had known about the smooches, you wouldn't have been. Wouldn't have let you come into the studio today.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we need to get a towel in here.
Mike Wright
Look, you're the. You're the dog owner, right?
Andy Holloway
Love my dog. Twitter loves my dog too.
Mike Wright
Darla the bulldog.
Andy Holloway
That's right.
Mike Wright
All right, let's get into the mailbag, answer some fantasy questions. This first one comes in from CMB323. Which QB has the most starter upside late in the draft? Mariota or Stafford?
Andy Holloway
This is a Andy special.
Mike Wright
This is a battle because I like them both.
Andy Holloway
Because you are in love with both of these guys. So I'm going to let Andy kick it off.
Mike Wright
Sure. I love both these guys, but the most upside late in the draft belongs to Matthew Stafford.
Jason Moore
Yes, it does.
Mike Wright
Matthew Stafford. I'm glad. Thank you. That's your official. You are correct.
Jason Moore
You are correct.
Andy Holloway
You're Ed McMahon.
Mike Wright
Look, Matthew Stafford has the track record of elite fantasy football seasons. He had the efficiency towards the back half of the year, basically where he played the second half. Had he kept that pace, much like Russell Wilson had a big second half, Stafford second half would have been in the 40 touchdown range. I mean, he was hyper efficient. Only four picks, I think in the second half of the season.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Mike Wright
The upside is his offense as well because Matt, I'm sorry. For Marcus Mariota. You have seen a limited offense. You don't know how much they're going to stretch the army. I like his upside as being one of those guys that gains some on the ground, gives you a nice baseline. He has weapons around him, but Stafford's the answer to this question.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I go with Stafford for all of those reasons and just the weapons. I know that Calvin Johnson is gone, but that doesn't concern me for Stafford's long term potential this year.
Mike Wright
All right, let's go ahead and go over to noblerabbit.
Andy Holloway
I'm a noble rabbit.
Mike Wright
Are you getting a plaque or legit trophy for the Podcast awards? If not, are you planning on ordering a custom trophy? We are receiving two trophies for the Two awards.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. That's really nice.
Jason Moore
Really nice. Really large. Really custom done for us through podcastawards.com.
Andy Holloway
We'Ve had to customize our roof. We had to raise it up because the trophies will be so big.
Mike Wright
Not quite, but we will see those.
Jason Moore
Like karate trophi. When you win first place, that's. I assume that's what it's going to be.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Jason Moore
It's got to be taller than me.
Mike Wright
Right. We'll have to adjust camera sight, sight lines and things like that. All right. @ Seth 280. Let's go with that one. I'll circle back there. How. How do you tell a league mate that it is time to move on when he keeps making excuses not to show up for the draft, but he doesn't want to ruin the friendship?
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
This is life advice here for Seth.
Andy Holloway
This is an extremely sticky situation. We've had to deal with it once or twice in our. In our league and oh, man, it is. It's extremely tough. I will say.
Mike Wright
Oh, there's one easy way out.
Andy Holloway
Oh, okay.
Mike Wright
Do you want to know it?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I do.
Mike Wright
Numbers. You don't hurt somebody's feelings as much if it's kind of a group decision. I mean, you still might make them mad, but at least it's not the one to one guilt that you would have it. And don't be. The commission just goes and kicks them out. Just say, hey, look, we took a league vote. Unfortunately, the league wants to be more committed this year. We want everybody at the draft. You haven't been at the draft. You're not going to be able to make the draft. This was the league decision. I'm really sorry. Let's play in another, you know, league together.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And revisit the problems over there. No, the.
Andy Holloway
I'll be there.
Jason Moore
The reality here is that if. If you're kicking him out for that reason, if the reason is the fact that you don't have have him showing up to the draft, then you have to just make the rule official before the draft. And then it's not you kicking him out, it's him kicking himself out because he's not adhering to the rule. If before the draft you say you have to be at the draft from here on out or you can't be in the league. Sorry. You know, that's the way to do it. Not. Not afterwards, you weren't at the draft because then you don't even solve the problem. You didn't have a guy at the draft and you kick him out. Just establish the rule up front and you should be okay.
Mike Wright
Yeah, Hopefully. Hopefully you are all right. Al Sarap he meo wow.
Jason Moore
What.
Mike Wright
I probably got some of that right. What rookie running backs and wide receivers do you believe will have the most value and usage based off their teams and their offense? Great question. We went we covered one guy today already. Sterling shepherd has the potential to have a great value and a great usage in the New York Giants offense.
Andy Holloway
I would say my two favorite running backs as far as value would be CJ Pro size and Kenneth Dixon. I think that pro size is going to have an immediate impact. Maybe it's not the kind of high level running back numbers that you are going to that you want but he's, he should be the passing downs guy at least that's, that's all the chat, the immediate chatter out of Seahawk camp and I think they're going to pass a bit more than they have in the past. And for Kenneth Dixon this has nothing to do with I love Justin for set. I think that four set can be the guy. But towards the end of the season it it's feasible I'll leave the door open that Kenneth Dixon can become the starter. And if you're the starter on a Mark Tressman offense and starting running back then you need to be on my team.
Jason Moore
Yeah, no, I think those are good. Obviously we're going to bypass Ezekiel Elliott here. He is a, he's like an auto. Yes. He's going to have good opportunity and talent. You know, I still like Kenyon Drake. I think that his opportunity in a gaze system where they've, they've always used the running back that catches the ball. Well, Jay Ajayi can catch the ball but the reports so far out of camp have been so weird. I know. Well, they're, they're new routes and a new system so he's been struggling a little. Reportedly. I don't expect Kenyon Drake to be the guy but I think he'll be, he'll have an opportunity there because there's really just no other option. And they also drafted him as the third running back off the board in the entire NFL draft. So there is, I think there's an opportunity, a pathway forward for Kenyan Drake. And while I don't think he's great between the tackles, man, I watched all the film on him and when he gets out in open space, if they're going to use him as a pass catching, you know, third down type of back, I'm telling you he's going to break some plays for some big Gains that finish in the end zone.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. On the wide receiver side of things, you know, the. One of the names, naturally that comes to mind for usage is Corey Coleman. He's going to have usage in Cleveland. It's just a matter of what that equates to. I would like to get maybe both of your opinions on Will Fuller in Houston, because right now I have him ranked at the 56, just ahead of or actually just two spots below Josh Dockson in Washington. So maybe speak about both those guys. Your expectations for them, are they values? Is the usage going to be there?
Andy Holloway
I think that I'll start with Josh Dachshund. I think the value can absolutely be there because he's not currently a starter. That situation could rectify itself, so to speak, in training camp or before the season. If they move on from Garcon or weirdly move on from desean Jackson. If they make a move and Dachshund's a starter, his ADP will rise. But I expect him to be a starter before the year is over. And the Washington offense is sneaky, high powered. I think that they're going to have to throw a lot. I'm still not a huge Matt Jones believer. And Kirk Cousins was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league last year. You give him Josh Dachshund that you can grab in the later values to watch and see if he earns that race. So that's the. That's the value rookie that I'm going to go after.
Jason Moore
Yeah. As far as Will Fuller goes, he's one of those that really people are split on because there's a couple guys that really believe in the talent. There's a reason he went so high. He's going to a team with Brock Lesnar. Who? Brock Lesnar. I was thinking about a strong arm, like a big cannon arm. And then UFC 2 hundreds coming.
Andy Holloway
Brock Lesnar can throw a football 500 yards.
Mike Wright
Oh, my God.
Jason Moore
But with Brock Osweiler, who can get.
Mike Wright
New nickname for Brock Osweiler, I guess.
Jason Moore
Yeah. But I don't like Fuller for this season. And the reason he's playing a very niche role, you know, that. That kind of.
Mike Wright
That's my question though. Is he going to play that role or could he surprise people? Because everyone wants to dismiss Will Fuller in the fact that he's going to have low volume, a few deep shots and that's it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And that is how I see him. I think there's other weapons there that are already ahead of him. Jalen Strong has looked good in camp you know, I think he's going to. I think they got the speedy guy to play the speedy guy role and so I think they're going to put him there for a rookie year and say go run some nine routes and every now and then he might catch a bomb for a touchdown. Look great but he's not going to be started on your roster that week anyways. So for me, if this isn't dynasty, if this is just redraft, people forget.
Mike Wright
And I don't disagree with you. I can't make the argument for Will Fuller's full usage in that offense, but people do forget. You remember when DeAndre Hopkins came into the league? That was, that was DeAndre Hopkins. Right. He's going to run down the sideline. You know, he's going to compliment Andre Johnson and in the first couple years, I guess that's what you saw. So those guys can become, I guess, well rounded wide receivers in time. All right, let's go to at Railik Dylak D In your opinion, what's the best 12 team dynasty and or keeper league format that you've ever seen? Looking to change from a readraft league?
Andy Holloway
The best.
Mike Wright
Well, I'll say this, I think it's great that you're changing from a redraft league. Just from the perspective of it just is a more year round engaging experience. We do this show year round because we participate in leagues like this that are you have whether it's a bunch of players in a dynasty, you got your whole roster or just a few. The ownership of the team is what makes fantasy football so entertaining.
Jason Moore
Yeah, all redraft leagues are better as keeper leagues. I'm going to go on record and say that small, you know, you do it.
Mike Wright
Redraft leagues are great but they're just better as a keeper.
Jason Moore
Exactly. And you keep two or three guys. So if you're going to say what is the best format. For me my preference is three guys. I like keeping three. I like the rule where you can't keep more than one at each position just because it kind of ends up with the draft pool being a little bit more even diverse and you know, stops any kind of weird powerhouse going on that trades a season for three absolute beast wide receivers and then you know, young guys. So I would say that that goes between whether or not you decide that those three keepers are essentially your first three picks or whether where you keep them based on the value of where you drafted them last year. I think that's just a to each their own. Both are Fun ways. Our league of record is basically we keep three guys and that's it. We start to draft at what would be, you know, you could argue is round four.
Mike Wright
All right, this next one comes in from at FFM Anderson, but I'm going to read it as FF Manderson.
Andy Holloway
Thank you. Because that's how I'm reading it.
Mike Wright
Because it's more entertaining that way.
Jason Moore
Manderson, Andy. It is Manderson.
Mike Wright
It's Manderson. A wise. A wise man. For each of you, who is you in your elite top tier, he's trying to choose his draft spot.
Jason Moore
So basically, who are. How many guys are in our elite across all positions? Yeah.
Mike Wright
So four.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I've got my big four. I've got Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Oda Beckham and Le'Veon Bell. David Johnson for me. And Todd Gurley is no Todd Gurley's. I'm no that I only have the four.
Mike Wright
Oh, I know. I'm just saying in the next tier.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah. I was saying for me, David Johnson is close, but he just is not in that elite tier.
Mike Wright
And for me, Gurley is close.
Jason Moore
Yeah, Gurley is close for me. I've got two kind of. My top four are the three Beast wide receivers in Le'Veon Bell, which of course is Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham. And then I still really. I'm really high on. On Gurley and on AJ Green. So I go kind of six.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Green is very. He's close for me as well.
Mike Wright
All right, we're up to at STLP333 with the question who is the one running back, quarterback and wide receiver that you think will one most regret having taken so bus to be pleasantly surprised with. So a breakout and a bust basically.
Jason Moore
Right from each major position that's off.
Andy Holloway
The top of your head.
Jason Moore
This is hardcore time now. And we're giving back to the foot clan.
Mike Wright
We're going to do it. I will say that a player that you may potentially regret drafting is Sammy Watkins. Sure. So he is my potential bus. Not that I'm predicting that, but you're asking me to pick somebody you could be disappointed in.
Andy Holloway
Running back. I will go Matt Forte, who is going too high in my opinion for what I expect to happen out of the New York State.
Mike Wright
Jason can give us a quarterback bus.
Jason Moore
My quarterback bus is going to be Ben Roethlisberger and I know people aren't going to like that, but he's going ahead of guys that are definitely going to outscore him in fantasy this year. Like Drew Brees.
Andy Holloway
I was just going to say, is Brees behind him?
Jason Moore
Yeah, Brees is behind him. Even guys like Carson Palmer. Ben Roethlisberger has one year in his career. I think it's growing over 32.
Andy Holloway
I think he has two.
Jason Moore
Okay, maybe. Maybe it is too vet that, but.
Mike Wright
He has a career high of how many?
Andy Holloway
30. I know the career high is 32.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I received quite a bit of Twitter hate for having Ben Roethlisberger at 10 on my rankings still a QB one. And it was like, that's very hatery, I think was what they said. And I disagree. I think you just look at losing Martavis. Martavis meant seven more points to the Pittsburgh offense last year. Antonio Brown is great and will give Ben Roethlisberger a baseline.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
But what I don't like about Roethlisberger is that there are games where he throws 101 touchdown every once in a while.
Andy Holloway
You are.
Jason Moore
You are correct, Mike. He has had two. One was a decade ago with 32. One was two years ago with 32.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And the thing is, Ben Roethlisberger, he carves up the yards. I'm not denying the fact that he's. He will be along among the league.
Mike Wright
Leaders in yardage, but he can throw the 401.
Andy Holloway
And they have Le'Veon Bell, who's just an amazing running back, so they don't have to go Jacksonville temper.
Mike Wright
Just temper your expectations with Roethlisberger. As far as a breakout candidate, I'm going to go Tyler Lockett, a wide receiver based on his draft value. Draft value? You've heard us talk about him on the show. Somebody have a breakout running back or a quarterback, they want to say quarterback.
Andy Holloway
I'm going with Jameis Winston. I've. I've loved him all offseason and I've had no reason to change that. Him. Him getting into shape. His second half was a strong improvement over the first half as far as yardage. And you take an elite stud like Mike Evans, who scored three touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns, and that has to go up. There's just no possible way that that Evans has held the three or lower again. So I love Winston moving forward.
Jason Moore
For breakout running backs, there seems to be the same group of like four guys that you don't really like who.
Andy Holloway
All have the fourth round guys.
Jason Moore
Yeah, you've got the Jeremy Langfords, the Matt Jones, you know those guys. Carlos Hyde. If I had to pick one of those that I actually think will do it, I would pick Jeremy Langford. I Believe that he is the guy that we saw last year when Forte went out. Look, he didn't put up great, you know, efficiency, running back numbers, and yet he still put up a ton of fantasy numbers. They go out and they draft Jordan Howard, and everyone's scared. But John Fox does not play rookie running backs that much, you know, barring necessity and an injury in front of him. So I believe in Langford, but I'm not happy to believe in Langford.
Andy Holloway
I would say if the Langford owner has to be scared of anybody, it's Kadeem Carey, as weird as that sounds. So maybe you hear that, you go, well, then I'm not scared at all. But if anyone's gonna steal work and steal touchdowns, it's gonna end up being Kadeem Kerry.
Mike Wright
All right, I just found another question here from Andy Holloway. Andy Holloway is a question for Jason. Now that July is nearly upon us, when do you begin to put in your Oreo orders for all the drafts that are coming up? Are you. Are you double stuffing it again?
Jason Moore
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, for sure. I'm gonna bring a double stuff package.
Mike Wright
Do you bring a duff? Is that more of a duffel?
Jason Moore
Well, the duffel bag is duffel stuff. Duffel stuff. I like it. No, I will bring a double stuff Oreos to each and every draft. I gotta find, like, a portable refrigerator I can bring some milk with and just really dunk it on you guys.
Mike Wright
Like, every time I make a pick, a small diversion. What is the best way to, like, transport milk? I mean, do people. Is a thermos a place that you could bring milk in?
Jason Moore
Seems gross to me, right?
Mike Wright
Because it seems like it should be for soup.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I don't know.
Mike Wright
That's warm. But I mean, how do you bring milk? Like, you want to pack milk away because you want to. You want some Oreos?
Jason Moore
Put it in, like, ice?
Mike Wright
Like dried ice? No, like your duffel bag, complete with dry cooler.
Jason Moore
You get a cooler. Like going to Halloween. You're going camping. You fill the cooler up with ice.
Andy Holloway
You put a jug of milk in there.
Mike Wright
That reminds me of the time that I thought that I was filling my coffee with some creamer on a camping trip, and I had poured in a raw egg from a milk.
Andy Holloway
What?
Mike Wright
Someone.
Andy Holloway
Someone what?
Mike Wright
They brought a milk container and they put raw eggs in it so that they could just pour them on the griddle and cook eggs. I saw it on the side. I'm like, oh, I'm gonna go get my. It was cold. It was cold.
Andy Holloway
How long did they have the eggs in there?
Mike Wright
I don't know. It was in their free. It was in the thing, like Jason said, it was in a freezer. I go over, I'm like, I'm.
Andy Holloway
Doesn't sound sanitary.
Mike Wright
I'm like, I'm gonna put some creamer. I felt the container of milk. I'm like, this is ice cold. This is healthy. Good milk. I poured in an egg.
Jason Moore
So how is the coffee?
Mike Wright
Well, not as good. Not as good. All right, let's move on. I just want the double stuffed Oreos to continue this year because I want those people that are Foot Clan followers show up in their draft and there'll be two people with the Oreos, so. All right, this one comes in from Steve O. Middleton.
Andy Holloway
Steve O. Middleton or Steve of Middleton.
Mike Wright
Steve O. Middleton. Hard to say. Gonna be setting up a fabric system for the first time. What's the best budget amount to use in the waiver schedule?
Jason Moore
Without a doubt, do $100. $100 is without a doubt.
Mike Wright
That's a really strong opinion.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Hot take, Hot take.
Jason Moore
The reason why is because when you listen to the fantasy footballers through the year to win your hashtag footclan title, every time we are throwing out an amount, it will be in the $100 range. Every time that you go look on a website and find what they would recommend, it's going to be in the $100 range. Anytime you want to do math and say, what percentage of my budget, it's just so easy because it's whatever number it is that's the percent. I don't see any reason at all to ever set up a free agent acquisition.
Mike Wright
$1 million.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I mean, like, you could do that, right? You could say, I'm going to do $500, but it doesn't make a difference. Everybody has the same amount. So go in the math.
Mike Wright
That's a pretty compelling argument from duffel stuff. As far as the best waiver schedule, there are a couple different ways that people do it. Sometimes after the fab goes through on Tuesday morning, generally you can have open waivers.
Andy Holloway
I think we do Wednesday.
Mike Wright
I'm sorry, Wednesday.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Right.
Jason Moore
You got to turn because you have off.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. Because basically what happens is the Monday night games finish. You've got one day for people to set their bids on Tuesday, and then Wednesday morning they go through. What we do in our league is we have it run every morning. Then we have. So we have it run every single morning. It's exciting because every day you don't know who's grabbing who. Other leagues opened up after the fab period to just open waivers for the rest of the week at Jason Adams.
Jason Moore
One other supremely important thing. You must have $0 bids.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Jason Moore
On a fab system. Otherwise at the end of the year, you're going to hate the fab system.
Mike Wright
All right, there you go. @ JasonAdams 15. If you had to take somebody in the first round who is currently being drafted in the second or third round, who would it be? I really like that question.
Jason Moore
What a great question.
Mike Wright
See, that's very creative.
Jason Moore
Who are you going to reach for in the first? Because you believe in them.
Mike Wright
Right. Well, who. Who would you consider. Yeah. Making. Who's worthy of that pick? I guess.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So I'm looking through the wide receivers here and the aforementioned jersey that I just got from the pristine auction. I just. The more I look into Mike Evans, the numbers, the, the projections, watching him play football, I. Look, I know the drops happen. That's fine. I don't. I really don't care about the drops because he's going to get targeted so heavily. I love Mike Evans this year.
Jason Moore
I got a lot of guys.
Mike Wright
I think I have two names myself.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I've probably got.
Andy Holloway
You can only pick one.
Mike Wright
All right, I'll say Brandon Marshall. He's going in the third round.
Jason Moore
And that wasn't even one of my names. But you've got Mark Ingram going in the third round.
Mike Wright
Doug Martin.
Jason Moore
Alshon Jeffrey, to me, I think is. Is, you know, when you get past A.J. green to me, I think Alshon Jeffrey is going to be as good as anybody else.
Mike Wright
Brandon Marshall. Ashon Jeffrey. Go.
Jason Moore
Oh, I love it.
Mike Wright
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Jason Moore
I think I'm going to take Alshon Jeffrey this year. I wouldn't water bet that because they're both phenomenal. But if I. I'm going to have to go look at my numbers. Oh, actually, no, I know my numbers. Do say Alshon Jeffrey is ahead of Brandon Marshall.
Andy Holloway
If I know for sure that it's Fitz Magic throwing the ball, I'll take Marshall.
Mike Wright
When exactly do we get to find out that that's for sure?
Andy Holloway
Who knows?
Mike Wright
Would you give him a call?
Jason Moore
September.
Mike Wright
I've been. I've been promising Fitzpatrick coming back for a long time and now it's.
Andy Holloway
Should I pick up the. The beard hotline? My beard phone, huh?
Mike Wright
Yeah. Who's on the other end of that? Bunyan?
Andy Holloway
No, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
We're connected by the beard.
Mike Wright
I get it now. Yeah, I didn't. Didn't understand that. Let's go to at nice, PPR league. Four point touchdown, quarterback scoring but 10 points scored at 300 plus passing yards. 10. Wow. How would this change options of drafting? Congrats, guys. It does change. Ben Roethlisberger. Aforementioned. Ryan Tannehill.
Jason Moore
Drew Brees.
Mike Wright
Drew Brees. Big yard guys.
Jason Moore
Matt Ryan.
Mike Wright
Matt Ryan's a big yard guy and.
Andy Holloway
It actually, it hurts guys.
Mike Wright
Like, hurts Rogers. Russell Wilson.
Andy Holloway
Rogers is so efficient that he doesn't always break 300 yards. He'll throw for 250 and three touchdowns. So, yes, you need to pay attention. Normally people say, oh, I get a two point bonus for 300 yards.
Jason Moore
I don't.
Andy Holloway
Whatever. That doesn't change 10 points. But 10 points I will, I will change my draft strategy.
Mike Wright
All right. This one's at Bear Maulings.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Mike Wright
So be careful of this Twitter.
Andy Holloway
These names are great.
Mike Wright
What are your thoughts on trading Monday Night Football players for players that have already played for the week? That's ridiculous. Yeah, that shouldn't be allowed. All players should be locked out for that week. You shouldn't be able to trade a Monday Night Football player for somebody. That trade shouldn't be open. Then it shouldn't process. You can make the trade, but nothing should process until after the Monday night game. Yeah.
Jason Moore
If one of the guys in your trade has already played. Trades locked.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's. And now I see why you had a scuffle in the league because that's ridiculous.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's. That's not. I don't like the cut of that jib.
Mike Wright
All right. At the Cheesehead ff Keep trade cut.
Jason Moore
Oh, we got another one.
Mike Wright
Oh, I like those coming in here every once in a while. Sean Drone.
Andy Holloway
Oh, big salad.
Mike Wright
Buck Allen.
Andy Holloway
Buck Nasty.
Mike Wright
Legarette. Blunt.
Jason Moore
Legarrett.
Andy Holloway
Blunt.
Mike Wright
Can I have cut, cut, cut? No, not really. I will go ahead. And I'm going to keep Sean Drone.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
And I'm going to trade Legerrette Blunt and I'm going to cut Buck Allen.
Andy Holloway
I echo everything you just said. I. Buck Allen is really interesting. What, what, what role does he have if people love Kenneth Dixon so much? And I'm just for sets. For set. Is still the starter right now, but.
Mike Wright
Jolly Farrow is still in the backfield. I think he's Trent Richardson once he's standing outside the fence with his fingers in the fence looking through.
Andy Holloway
He's like the lady on the Mervyn's commercials. Open, open, open, open.
Mike Wright
It never opens for me.
Jason Moore
I will, I will like the holes.
Mike Wright
For his offensive line.
Jason Moore
I will cut Sean Drone.
Andy Holloway
What?
Jason Moore
Because I think that he doesn't provide any value from day one, although I do like his value. This is just Hyde goes I'm going to keep Legerit Blunt because he is a touchdown scoring running back for one of the highest powered offenses in the league and while I don't want to play the roulette of starting him and not starting him, I know that he's going to finish above these other two at the end of the year.
Mike Wright
Not PPR leagues.
Jason Moore
And I'm going to trade Buck Allen. You're probably right. In a PPR league I'm going to trade Buck Allen because there are still reasons to believe in him that I think people might trade for. He has a year on Kenneth Dixon in the trespassman offense. The pass catching back in the Trustman offense is good. I'm really curious to see what happens with Kenneth Dixon.
Mike Wright
This transitions into the next and final question.
Andy Holloway
Well, I was going to say real quick is leave it to old duffel stuff to cut the big salad.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I'm not eating none of that.
Andy Holloway
Give me the meat.
Jason Moore
Give me the meat and the cream. That's it.
Mike Wright
Hey, be warned, it might be a raw egg inside.
Jason Moore
Better than a salad.
Andy Holloway
I've seen Rocky do it.
Mike Wright
The question by Joe Lindenmeyer was that is there anybody you can trust in the Ravens backfield Because we, you and I have already waterbedded Jason. Yeah, I better that Kenneth Dixon. I don't think that's how you say it.
Andy Holloway
Falling apart.
Mike Wright
I placed a bet with Jason that Kenneth Dixon would outscore Justin for set.
Jason Moore
Which I proceeded to call bananas. And I believe our bet is banana on banana crime. Whoever loses will have an old banana thrown in their face.
Andy Holloway
I think there's a banana.
Mike Wright
Did we really make that?
Andy Holloway
Oh, it's notated. We made that as the deal. Yeah.
Mike Wright
How do I not recollect?
Andy Holloway
No, that that was definitely in the notes.
Mike Wright
Somebody's getting a banana thrown right at them.
Andy Holloway
You have to spin the wheel of water instead of water. It's going to be a banana shake.
Jason Moore
I don't know about a banana shake, but we'll figure that out.
Mike Wright
But my point is throwing an older.
Jason Moore
Banana would be I still believe in Justin Forset. Justin Forsett has played excellent football the last two years. Two decades when he's been on the field. Well, that's a nice thing is old man strength. He's a little bit older, but he didn't have a lot of wear and tear on his legs. He's in the system. He's clearly going to be like how.
Mike Wright
The legs, the legs came in there.
Jason Moore
He's going to be the first.
Mike Wright
I want to talk about the arm.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Well, can arm those things heal, do you think?
Mike Wright
Would you define a broken. Let me ask you this. Would you define a broken arm as wear and tear? Is that wear or tear?
Jason Moore
I would say.
Mike Wright
I would say tear. It's a broken arm.
Andy Holloway
I would go with neither because the calcium deposits, in fact, make that spot stronger.
Mike Wright
Sure, go with that one.
Andy Holloway
His arm is Popeye strength.
Mike Wright
Tell Rob Gronkowski's arm that because he's.
Andy Holloway
Made a peanut brittle.
Mike Wright
Oh, this has gotten out of hand. All right, that is it. Hey, we've got a good show for you on Thursday. This is the last week that we have of only two shows a week. We are on to bigger and better things. Three shows a week starting in July. Oh, my goodness. And then we're up to five a week from August through December. So we mean business around here. Mike Wright
She's everywhere. Great insight. We're playing a fantasy game with her on Thursday's show. And be sure to check out the website, the fancy footballers.com. there are a number of new articles that are going up on the website.
Jason Moore
I just dawned on me.
Mike Wright
What?
Andy Holloway
Oh, just dawned on me.
Jason Moore
The show after the show is about to happen in like 30 seconds.
Mike Wright
Oh.
Jason Moore
With Game of Thrones on the Game of Thrones finale. So hop on over to you.
Mike Wright
I guess we better close the show out.
Jason Moore
Yeah, get on over to YouTube, subscribe to us on YouTube and let's talk some Thrones.
Andy Holloway
Gotta follow the White Wolf.
Mike Wright
I like. You gotta check out Mike's shirt today. It's hot. It's nice. See ya. Bye.
