To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
Hey, everybody. It is Tuesday, February 9th.
Mike Wright
Start the off season.
Andy Holloway
Officially. We are not dabbing.
Jason Moore
Broncos dabbing.
Andy Holloway
We are doing the twist.
Jason Moore
Hit him with the twist.
Mike Wright
I saw Von Miller doing some dabbing.
Andy Holloway
Well, he, he had every right to do some dabbing. I guess this is our first opportunity to reflect on Super Bowl Sunday. This show is going to be. We'll talk a little bit about the super bowl, but it'll be mostly a free agent preview. We'll let you know, fantasy wise, which guys are out there, kind of are what information we have and where we think they might be headed or more so just kind of whether we think they're gonna stay around or they're gonna go find a new home. And we've got some mailbag on this show and so it's gonna be a good one.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You can follow us on Twitter heffballers. You can follow us on YouTube. We've got the show after the show made its debut last week.
Mike Wright
Yeah, great, great success.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, it's doing well on there.
Mike Wright
There's some nice fanfare. We appreciate that.
Andy Holloway
So basically, if you don't know what the show after the show is, it is the show after the show, we leave the camera running for another 10 minutes, talk about whatever. Sometimes it's football, sometimes it's something else. And we throw that on YouTube. So you can go over to our YouTube channel and subscribe and you will get the show after the show, some nice exclusive content.
Jason Moore
We had some comments on that, that we should rename the show the After Show Show. For acronym's sake.
Andy Holloway
For acronym sake.
Jason Moore
Since it comes at the. At the. You could say at the tail end.
Andy Holloway
The tail end.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You can find us. It's a butt joke. You can find us on the Fantasy Sports Network and obviously on itunes and on Android devices. You can follow the website. We're making lots of changes. I want everyone in the world to know. Everyone in the whole world. Tell your friends, tell your plans for that. Our website's gonna get better and better. And what I mean by that is the rankings and the tools that we have available to you, we're improving all of those throughout the off season. They will contain all of our draft rankings and we'll be updating those. Lots of mock drafts this offseason and everything that's going on, we'll keep it updated on the website. The Fantasy footballers dot com.
Jason Moore
We're doing work this offseason.
Andy Holloway
We are, we are. We're Doing work. So I guess the kind of quick question starter for us today, really not super fantasy orientated or oriented, depending on your choice of words. What are your favorite moments or stats from the Super Bowl? What. What kind of stood out to you? I. I tweeted yesterday after the super bowl that all of you QB shamers out there that want to tear down old man Manning, Peyton Manning, don't do it is what I say. And then Jason found a very interesting stat.
Jason Moore
And yeah, saw this on Twitter, that John Elway, when he won the Super bowl in 1998, he was 12 of 22 for 123. Zero touchdowns and one interception, which is almost identical to Peyton Manning's winning the Super bowl yesterday. 13 of 23, 141, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception. And, you know, I believe that was the same way Big Ben won one.
Mike Wright
Big Ben might have been worse.
Jason Moore
Yeah, defense was.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. In the Super Bowl, Von Miller was amazing.
Jason Moore
That whole defense was amazing. I would say that that would be, you know, my. My most surprising thing, like, looking back now that it's over, the thing that stuck out to me was that pass rush. The Broncos pass rush was legendary. I tweeted out that I thought it was one of the best pass rushes of all time. And I think some very upset Carolina Panther fan said, no, we don't have any receivers. Hashtag unfollowed and unfollowed me on Twitter. And then I was like, wow.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's a strong reaction. That was like Cam walking out of the media day.
Jason Moore
So you don't. You don't have any wide receivers. What was, what was the excuse for. For Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers putting up 16 points or Tom Brady and the healthy pats putting up 18 points and Cam Newton putting up 10 points? This defense is one of the best of all time.
Mike Wright
They were devastating.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I would say that it's very safe. I know it can be hyperbolic right after the super bowl to try to. Of course we have to, because we're the ESPN generation. We have to put everything in historical context immediately and make a list. But I think it's very safe to say that they're in the top 10, 15 fairly. You know what I mean? You can debate where they belong, but the pass rush and, and then when you mix that in with having Harris and Talib on the back end and the fact that, yes, Carolina, I would say this is the first time. I mean, when you go 15 and 1, you haven't really been found out. Right. This is the first time that their wide receivers kind of showed what we thought would be the reality for them in the sense that they, they're not the big names. They were guys that had been around and now had the opportunity and couldn't get separation on the. On.
Mike Wright
Yeah, nobody was open.
Andy Holloway
No, that was the problem. And obviously their strategy was, was great where you have Olson and you cover him up well and you put Cam in a position where he, you know, I've never seen the him run the way he had to run last night, which was like, like two step drop and I got to take off. It wasn't improv, it wasn't end of play improv running. It was like, I got to get out of this pocket that's breaking down. And he unfortunately, it looked like he never smiled the whole game. He never had a moment where he didn't seem flustered because Von Miller came around the edge and stole the ball out of his arms. And from that point on it was, it was backtracking. I mean at one point in the game we saw it was 1610 and I'm like, man, this is a close game, but it kind of didn't feel that way.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's how I felt like the whole game where I actually felt like Carolina was closer. And I know you're probably saying from the perspective he felt like Denver was dominating the game. To me, it felt like just a couple things didn't go Carolina's way. I was talking to Jason before the show about the reviewed catch. What did you, what were your thoughts on that?
Andy Holloway
When I saw the replay, I instantly guaranteed that it would be upheld as a catch and overturned or upheld as a drop. No, overturned and made a catch. But then the reality was when I saw it on replay and part of the tip of the ball hit the ground even though he had possession when he crotchy rolled over, you could see that if it had been ruled to catch on the field, it would not have been overturned. And if it had been ruled not a catch, it was going to stay that way. So I thought, I thought it was a catch.
Mike Wright
I thought it was undoubtedly a catch. I thought there was as did no fault.
Andy Holloway
And of course, yeah, Mike Carey, who can't get it right even in the.
Mike Wright
Super bowl, as soon as Mike Carey.
Andy Holloway
Said it was a catch, you knew it was over.
Mike Wright
That's what, oh, trouble. They're going to over call this. And then of course player two later was the Von Miller strip sack into a touchdown. So that was a, a very pivotal moment. I still feel like Carolina likely loses the game, if that series of events changes. But that was definitely a big, big part of the turning the game.
Jason Moore
You know, no, nobody's going to say in Carolina that this is a good thing, but long term, this could be good for Cam. Good for. I mean, it's a young team that's got pieces in place to be back.
Andy Holloway
So they should be better. Yeah, they're the one. One of the teams that should be better next year. I saw some early Vegas lines on super bowl favorites, and Seattle was the number one at eight to one to get to the Super Bowl. Yeah, that's Caroline, I believe, was tied with them. But, yeah, it was an interesting game. I don't disagree with you, Mike. I don't. I. It wasn't me saying it's a blowout. It was more me saying the feeling. After a certain point, you just felt like it was the same recipe that won Denver. Every game that they won this year, which was they kind of get themselves in a position where Peyton has to maybe put one drive together the whole game, and that's it.
Mike Wright
He did it. At the very opening of the game, you saw the jitters of the Carolina Panthers where Manning is just floating up these slow motion, like, underhand, soft pitch passes, but the guys are open and they move the ball and then I'm.
Andy Holloway
Not convinced that I couldn't throw the ball harder than Peyton Manning at this point.
Mike Wright
That's. It's very possible, and I will give the Broncos a huge benefit. Finally, finally, CJ Anderson was back in the starting role. He looked great for the majority of the majority of the game.
Jason Moore
There was 30 yard beast mode.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that was great. And CJ Anderson always runs hard. He's a good team player. He's a good running back when he's healthy.
Mike Wright
And unquestionably better than Ronnie Hillman.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
And unquestionably important that they had him in the game on the first drive because there were a couple plays that he had to make to keep that drive going that Hillman had no chance. Just from a physical standpoint. It had nothing to do with skill. It just had to do with physicality. So we have some other news. We want to get into fantasy, relevant information, so let's go ahead and move. Well, there was one big, big piece of news that dropped right in the middle of the game.
Jason Moore
Weekly rewind.
Andy Holloway
Hanging from a wire were two neon cleats.
Mike Wright
Classic Marshawn Lynch.
Andy Holloway
It was spectacular. I just happened like we were all on Twitter on and off, but I just happened to be on the moment. He Tweeted that and was able to give my final remark, which was, sadly, you know, we're a fantasy football show. So my final remark was, farewell, Marshawn, and hello Thomas.
Jason Moore
Right?
Mike Wright
Yeah. And it was just great of. I'm sure there's going to be plenty of people who think, why you got to do that in the middle of the Super Bowl? You know what I say to that Kapuy to you, because that was awesome. That's just Marshawn lynch being beast mode, saying, yeah, super bowl is going on, but you know what? I'm retiring.
Andy Holloway
I feel like Marshawn lynch welcomed everybody to his. His career when he was driving that cart for California on the field. Just kind of, you know, sitting back, people freaking out. He's driving it around, and then he says farewell in the middle of the Super Bowl.
Mike Wright
He will be missed.
Andy Holloway
And he goes out on his own timing.
Jason Moore
Not. Not according to Vegas. Vegas.
Mike Wright
The team will move on.
Jason Moore
They're gonna be fine, Lynch.
Andy Holloway
That's true.
Mike Wright
I can't think of a running back right now that I enjoyed watching as much as I loved watching lynch when he would go full beast mode.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he was a special player. Right. A special kind of combination of balance and power that you haven't seen before.
Mike Wright
The balance is, I know, crucial.
Andy Holloway
Some of that stuff is incredible.
Jason Moore
You know who else has really good balance? And I mean this only on the football field, not necessarily in their personal life. LeSean McCoy.
Mike Wright
Oh, no.
Jason Moore
Le Sean McCoy. Also in a little bit of breaking news.
Mike Wright
Oh, breaking is correct.
Jason Moore
Breaking skulls. This is.
Andy Holloway
We don't know that much. So let's let the people know what we do know and nothing more because I'm sure by the time they hear this, there will be more news.
Jason Moore
Yes, this is. This is super early on. LeSean McCoy is under investigation right now for an assault on police officers inside a nightclub. Inside a nightclub at. Of course, at 2:45 in the morning.
Andy Holloway
When only good things happen.
Jason Moore
Only good things happen for NFL players. So there was a scuffle and the report is that two police officers. Undercover police officers were, I know, off duty, not undercover. Oh, that's right. Yes.
Mike Wright
Off duty.
Jason Moore
I just made it like way heightened there. Yeah. Two off duty police officers were sent to the hospital. Skull fracture and stitches and broken ribs.
Mike Wright
Multiple NFL players are said to be involved. I am not a professional lawyer.
Andy Holloway
Really.
Jason Moore
He's a. He's a semi pro lawyer.
Mike Wright
I'm pretty good with bird law. Aaa but. So this is a question for the Foot Clan. Perhaps someone knows and maybe it's state by state. But I would believe that an assault on an off duty cop is equally bad to an assault on a an active police officer. I don't know if they're going to have a line differential for that. So if LeSean McCoy in fact assaulted a was part of the assault, Sean McCoy is in big trouble. Big trouble.
Andy Holloway
I personally don't want to go that far because we don't know the instigation, we don't know whether it was though, you know, when you, when you have a fight it could be somebody else's insta, you know that instigated it was something that was illegal. We don't know what took place but we know that this is not a good thing for his career. It's not a good thing for his keeper value. It's not a good thing for any of those, however long this investigation goes. So I'm with you on that. It is a breaking news story that came out very recently and so we have to wait and see. It's not what you want to hear but this happens every off season. There are two or three guys. Something happens and the trickle down effect, you know, if, if Mike's right and something's long term, you've got the car. We just talked about Carlos Williams on the rookie show. Yeah, he's somebody who can carry the load.
Jason Moore
If you, if you're in a keeper league and you have Lashawn McCoy, I hope you have Carlos Williams.
Mike Wright
You know what I was doing, I used to do at 2:45 in the morning I'll be playing like Taco Bell. I'm either at Taco Bell or I'm playing Xbox or something. I mean you ever thought about just.
Jason Moore
Being, just sleep, sleep at that point.
Mike Wright
Of, of my days, back in the day when I was actually awake at 2:45 in the morning, I can't really make it that late anymore. Just, just pointing out that like man, I didn't, I don't even know what that life is like. Well, I don't, I just don't know.
Andy Holloway
You can call shady and ask what else is going on.
Jason Moore
The Philadelphia, Speaking of Philadelphia, where this event happened, the Daily News reports that the Eagles are not interested in reacquiring Rams quarterback Nick Foles because apparently they came to their senses. You know, there was, I think it was Adam Schefter who said that new new head coach kind of had some interest in Nick Foles. Why?
Andy Holloway
No.
Jason Moore
And the Eagles said wait, we saw, we had him. No.
Mike Wright
You know, you know where that news came out of that was Nick Foles camp leaking rumors.
Jason Moore
I miss you, Philly somebody.
Andy Holloway
Remember that 1 year, 19 and 2.
Mike Wright
Or whatever it was.
Andy Holloway
Touchdown, interception ratio. Look, it was a matter of a rumor that came out of the fact that Sam Bradford may or may not be franchise tagged. He may or may not have a deal there. And so they need somebody. If he doesn't. I would take anybody, maybe over Nick Foles, but yes, debunked, not interested in reacquiring him. And then we also have news out of Atlanta. The idea that the Falcons are unlikely to cut Roddy White. He'll probably, probably be back for another year. I would expect some changes in terms of, you know, we saw Hankerson's involvement periodically. In the beginning, they were obviously looking at another option. You have Hardy there. And then whatever they do in the draft and free agency and so today's a free agent show and we'll be talking about all the wide receivers available.
Jason Moore
Speaking of wide receiver free agents available, one more just got added to our list. Really?
Andy Holloway
Breaking news.
Mike Wright
Hold up. Do we have actual breaking news? Yeah, hit the button.
Andy Holloway
I wish I could.
Jason Moore
The break news is that speaking of the Eagles, they have cut Riley Cooper. Riley Cooper. He is now available for any team that wants him.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Riley Cooper will soon be joining Peyton Manning in retirement.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the demand's not going to be high there. It'll be just below Brian Hartline demand.
Mike Wright
I'd take Brian Hartline.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, me too. So, all right, Any other news you guys want to talk about? I did want to mention the upcoming schedule for the NFL. We talk about how many things happen in the offseason and we're not lying to you. The combine is this month, two weeks away.
Jason Moore
That's nuts.
Andy Holloway
We are officially in 2016 mode. Yes, that's allowed. The first show after the super bowl because the NFL is an ongoing event, as are many of your leagues. We've also got free agent negotiations open up in March, very early part of March. The free agency opens on the 9th officially. And then you have the NFL draft that comes in April. And by the time that's going on, we're going to have a lot of keeper deadlines for leagues. People will be in the swing of things. We'll have mock drafts, going crazy. It's going to be a lot of fun. And we, we're going to see all of these free agents we're about to preview and how they shake out and how that affects a lot of the existing rosters today. And then guys in the draft and where they go forward so you guys ready to start talking free agents?
Jason Moore
Yes, sir.
Andy Holloway
Wait, wait, you're not ready? Oh, you always take a couple seconds.
Mike Wright
I got to prepare my mind.
Jason Moore
Quarterbacks.
Mike Wright
I got to be ready for this. Quarterbacks for this potential Osweiler case Keenum fallout.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we'll get to it.
Mike Wright
I'm getting ahead of myself.
Andy Holloway
Let's start with Sam Bradford, 28 years old, free agent. We just alluded to the situation there in Philadelphia. What do you guys actually believe about Sam Bradford? Because this was a guy who was esteemed for his accuracy and was disparaged for his injury prone nature.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Now, you had a little bit of an issue or a change on both sides of those things, but is he a. Is he the guy to own in the free agent class? Would you. I think we'd all say probably Cousins is the guy to own over Bradford in the free agent market.
Jason Moore
I don't know that I would rather have Cousins over Bradford. I would think Bradford is the guy to own. He was coming still off of a knee injury. And while, you know, you saw Carson Palmer come back and play well right away, that's not always the case. So for me, Sam Bradford is the cream of the crop when it comes to free agent quarterbacks. He's also got the pedigree in the background that will make, you know, you can have a little bit more trust in Bradford than Cousins just from looking backwards. Either way, whoever you like, he's going to get paid. No, I'm. No. Is that confusing to you?
Mike Wright
No, I mean, it's not confusing to the point that five years. Sam Bradford was the number one overall pick, but five years ago was a very, very long time. And Kirk Cousins was the most accurate quarterback in the NFL this year.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So Kirk Cousins.
Andy Holloway
Give me. Kirk, give me upside. Give me not five years of what I've seen before. Bradford is well worth a paycheck.
Mike Wright
Someplace with ACLs that have not been torn, at least to my knowledge.
Jason Moore
I don't think any of us. I don't think any of us disagree on what we think of Sam Bradford. Where we disagree is just where we think of Kirk Cousins. I know we'll get into many Kirk Cousins battles as the next year goes on.
Andy Holloway
So staying or going, Kirk. Sorry. Sam Bradford had over 3,700 yards, 19 touchdowns. He hasn't had an NFL season.
Mike Wright
30 yards.
Andy Holloway
No, I said 3,700 yards.
Mike Wright
Oh, sorry.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, but he's never had an NFL season of more than 21 touchdowns. You know, he was in the Chip Kelly experiment that went foul and Sad for many of the fantasy options in Philadelphia and so he could land someplace. He could land in Philly and be better. A lot better because of the change over in offense. But give me your gut thoughts on staying or going Sam Bradford because I think it's really up in the air right now.
Mike Wright
I think he will end up staying. I think that Philadelphia. No, it's. I don't. Mark Sanchez. You're like, are we going to go ahead with Mark Sanchez? Are we going to try Sam Bradford out? His contract I would imagine will be in the. It'll be like a Kaepernick style. I don't know if he'll get his.
Andy Holloway
Well, they could just franchise him too.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
For one year. Another year trial for him would be.
Mike Wright
A lot of money for Sam Bradford.
Jason Moore
Yeah. You're talking top five of quarterbacks. That would be a lot of money. But it wouldn't. It wouldn't hurt you long term which could be the better play. I think he's back for the Eagles as well. You don't usually see even just top half quarterbacks ever hit free agency.
Andy Holloway
That would be a lot of money and go anywhere.
Jason Moore
So I think Sam Bradford will be back. They don't have any other good option there.
Andy Holloway
All right. Another guy that should be back is Kirk Cousins.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I don't see any reason to project him elsewhere. They're going to keep him in Washington. He's been the guy that's. Gruden's been championing Kirk Cousins since the beginning and just enduring the RG3 stuff that was taking place there. They're already opening contract talks with Kirk Cousins. He was. He had over 4,100 yards. He had 29 touchdowns last year and he was very impressive. To me he's still somebody who doesn't put it together week after week after week. From a. Just seems like the mind body production standpoint, but sometimes he just gets a.
Mike Wright
Little confused and sometimes he'll take a knee when he should be spiking a ball. I mean those kinds of things.
Andy Holloway
But he's 27 and he showed a lot of what he can do. He ran the ball well. He has some. There's some upside there in Washington now. I think we all expect Dallas to bounce back in that division, but there's no reason Washington can't compete as long as they put the right pieces around Cousins. And as long as what I think Mike and I project and maybe Jason doesn't that he maintains a good level of production.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I agree. I and I agree that I do not Agree that Kirk Cousins is going to be a very good option.
Andy Holloway
He's a big Bradford guy. He is Sammy Biscuits.
Jason Moore
Look, best friend, you give me.
Andy Holloway
You give 21 touchdowns at three ACL.
Jason Moore
Surgeries, you give me Kirk Cousins against an inferior opponent at home, and I want him every single time. I'm going to take him over anyone. But other than that situation, that's a strong statement. If he's, if he is, if he's on the road or if he's facing a really, you know, great defense at home, I'm. I'm just not buying it yet. I think that he had the perfect schedule this last year and you, you saw the difference between home and road. And next year I don't think the picture is going to be as bright, but we'll get into that more as the offseason comes and we do more research. This is just talking free agents of where they're going to go. I think Kirk Cousins is clearly going to stay.
Andy Holloway
Ryan Fitzpatrick is 33. He's a guy who almost sniffed the postseason but never has made it.
Mike Wright
Oh, he did? No, he definitely got a sniff.
Andy Holloway
I'm sorry. He almost made the postseason. He got a waft of it. They collapsed in that last game. It was really disappointing for jets fans and us as well because we were really hoping the jets made it. We liked their opportunity in the playoffs. They were a well rounded team, but didn't get it done. Bowles is saying all the right things about bringing Fitzpatrick back. I actually believe, based on what I'm reading, that it is up in the air. I think it's not a guarantee that he comes back. He. The. The right offensive pieces are there where we saw how he could execute an offense with Decker and with Marshall. From a fantasy perspective, which is the whole point of this, you want him back, don't you?
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You.
Jason Moore
You definitely want him back. There are pieces that became very reliable for the New York jets and whenever you have change that's going to disrupt that reliability. Everyone next year wants to be able to rely on Brandon Marshall, rely on Eric Decker, and if Geno Smith is back there, you're not going to be able to do that. So from a fantasy perspective, you want him back. I also believe. But bowl says that he wants him back and it's a higher priority. He also has said if he comes back, he is coming back to be the starter.
Andy Holloway
As a starter, of course you're not going to pay him money to sit.
Jason Moore
On the flip side, you have Fitzpatrick saying that he hopes he comes back. That that's where he wants to be. So everything lines up. The real issue here is money. The jets have one of the most difficult cap situations because they made huge splashes and free agency on the defensive side of the ball this last year. So we just got to see if the money works out again. For the third time in a row. And this is common for quarterbacks. I think he's going to be back. You don't see top half quarterbacks hit the free agent market and sign with other teams on a regular basis.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
Not when they're so close. You're right about that. Brock Osweiler is also a free agent. Denver is in. We're going to talk about them a lot because you've got Peyton Manning situation. Will he retire? Will he not? C.J. anderson, Ronnie Hillman, some other pieces on that. On that team. So what do we think about Brock Oslo? I mean, if Peyton retired and he was the quarterback of Denver, he has relevance as a streaming quarterback next year.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
Otherwise, I don't. I don't see him landing someplace and getting handed the keys to a. To an offense. He doesn't. He hasn't done enough in the NFL to warrant that. I would think there are the Chase Daniels of the world that would be just as viable given a competition type of opportunity on another team.
Mike Wright
Yeah. But he at least has some resume. Osweiler beat the Patriots. He played adequately. I mean, he was. He definitely. Things went stagnant there towards the end, which is why they made the switch back to Manning. But I think Osweiler, of anybody we've talked about is. Is by far the most interesting situation. If Manning is going to retire, as we all think he will, Osweiler has some leverage on Denver because it would be. What are they gonna do if you don't bring Osweiler back? You're desperately hoping that. That someone gets cut like a Robert Griffin gets cut and you bring him in.
Jason Moore
Hey, they just showed you two days ago that they do not need a quarterback to win a championship. Okay.
Andy Holloway
I was gonna say the same thing. He. His best career path is to stay and enjoy Von Miller.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Savor him.
Mike Wright
He just. I think he has some leverage as far as the structure of his contract goes. It would be surprising to me if they let him walk. And you have a team coming off of a Super bowl victory going into next year with. Which often happens to super bowl teams as you lose a lot of pieces, but you don't generally lose your top two quarterbacks from your depth chart.
Andy Holloway
No, you're right about that. And he'll be interesting if he does stick around. There are other situations in the NFL that have quarterback issues that will need to be solved. Obviously, you can't help but believe with Johnny Manziel being cut and Josh McCown being Josh McCown that they're going to do something through the draft or through free agency in Cleveland. St. Louis is a place that I would bet just about anything that Case Keenum is not the starter for. You've got Houston. That is an interesting situation with Brian Hoyer and Blank. You know, the weed and TJ8 are not the solution long term. It's interesting how many of these situations are actually kind of the, you know, could Brock OSWEILER Go to St. Louis and enjoy that defense? Could he go to Houston and enjoy that defense? I mean, he seemed to be able to execute the Kubiak style offense where you're handing the ball off and you're making throws when you need to. But it'll be interesting to see which guys come out of the draft and land in those places. And so we just want to mention his name as well. So let's move on to running backs.
Jason Moore
Running backs.
Andy Holloway
All right. Matt Forte.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's the biggest name in the whole free agent kit and caboodle.
Andy Holloway
We've said this many times. Oh, go ahead.
Jason Moore
Wait, where is he going to go? He. Does he have a chance to return to the Bears? Because right now the. I don't know if it's just media hype or other media outlets hope or what it is, but everything kind of seems like, where's he gonna go? Not is he going to go.
Andy Holloway
I believe he could come back. I do. Because I believe that based on Matt Forte, the person Matt for. The person for the last year has, has been saying all the things that you don't associate with. I need to be the lead dog someplace. I think he's being realistic with his career and where he's at. I think he's still a good player. He's not the Matt Forte of old. But all of those things, whether they're true or not, they don't really help the fantasy owner with Matt Forte. Because what we've said before on this show and the reality is it's more often than not when these guys leave in these situations at this age, it's not like you see an uptick. It's like we'd love to see him land in New England and then, and then start going, oh, what can he do with Tom Brady? Well, they still got Dion Lewis. They still got there. He'd Be in a platoon. He'd be used in a platoon there.
Jason Moore
I thought about this in a serious fashion just a couple days ago and I'm going to put. I'm going to put it out there. If Matt Forte goes to the Patriots, he is an absolute top 10 back.
Andy Holloway
No way.
Jason Moore
100%. And I will water bet that.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my God.
Mike Wright
You're saying no because of.
Andy Holloway
I'm saying because Mav for no. Because Mav Forte is older and one. I just don't see that if he. If he went to New England on a monster contract that makes no sense. It would all agree with you.
Jason Moore
It wouldn't be. It would be on a cheap. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And so he can't. And so he's a piece. New England uses pieces to win in the backfield. He would be a piece.
Jason Moore
Dion Lewis, when he was just a piece and cheap, was really productive for fantasy because he was a piece of a great offense.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Jason Moore
And.
Andy Holloway
But he didn't have other pieces around him to compete with that.
Jason Moore
Right. And Matt Forte won't really be competing with Dion Lewis.
Andy Holloway
Yes, he will.
Jason Moore
And we'll see. This is obviously beyond speculation.
Andy Holloway
So a guy 200 carries that's breaking down. Do you think he can get. I mean, what's the carry load? I'm not saying he won't be fantasy relevant, but top 10 back is a bold, bold statement. I think I feel pretty safe on the other side of that one.
Jason Moore
Well, then you will take that water bet with me. I think he'll get 250 touches between the air and the ground and he's got a nose for the end zone. He's going to be fine if he goes now, the reason we're saying that.
Andy Holloway
You'Re just Switzerland over here, Mike. You're just sitting here twirling your beard.
Mike Wright
I got. I got my popcorn out. I'm just enjoying the show.
Jason Moore
Mike Reese of ESPN Boston, he believes the Patriots are going to explore that possibility.
Andy Holloway
I like that you're exploring a possibility. That's like two. That's the best reporting in the world.
Jason Moore
They're going to almost explore the possibility.
Mike Wright
Maybe there was some. I saw a blurb earlier that where it was Matt Forte talking about actually wanting to go back to the Bears with Cutler. So there is that. As far as. What do I think?
Andy Holloway
I think he could be back.
Mike Wright
I think he could be.
Andy Holloway
The demand for running backs on the free agent market is. We saw last year. It can be troublesome for them to make a lot of money.
Mike Wright
We got to look out for Jeremy Langford. Starting some kind of a smear campaign, though it's true.
Andy Holloway
I apologize for that sound effect coming out of my. Didn't realize it was going to happen.
Mike Wright
Next on the list, Douglas Martin, who is 27 years old. We know that he was back after his rookie year sensation and then a couple years of just bathroom material. He came back, ended with a monster year, over 1400 yards on the ground, including that sensational game against the Eagles where he gouged him for about 300 yards or so. All signs right now say Doug Martin. He's talking. He wants to resign with the Bucks. The Bucks have said Doug Martin is a top priority for the offseason. However, will they pony up the money that Doug Martin is probably going to want? He's a running back. This is his. His first real big payday opportunity. And for running backs, this is it. You get most. Most running backs, I would say they get one shot. Besides your rookie contract, you get one shot at a big free agent contract. Will he. Will Tampa offer him enough or will he go somewhere else?
Jason Moore
It's. That's a great question. He's saying the right things. The Bucks are saying the right things. But money is going to be the only thing that talks here for a running back. The problem is I'm not sure what teams have a ton of money available who really need that running back position to be filled and go and make a splash. Because you do have, you know, the top three guys here on free agency, Matt Forte, Doug Martin and Lamar Miller, for different reasons, all could be the best back to acquire in this year's draft. The question that I have from a fantasy perspective with Doug Martin, which I think is a question a GM would have with Doug Martin if you're not from the Bucks, is great. He was on a contract year and all of a sudden he was back. You see that from time to time. Like, oh, he stunk. And then a contract year and he's plays great. Do you pay the guy and then have him get fat again?
Mike Wright
I just want to take this moment to remind people that Eddie Lacy will be on a contract here coming up. Yes.
Jason Moore
He's coming in £30.
Andy Holloway
Prepare for that. Let me say this. And this is kind of rolls into the Matt Forte discussion, too. Let me just. I'm glad that we have a disagreement about him.
Jason Moore
About Forte.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm super glad because it really. It illustrates. And by the way, we're never mad at each other in reality. No. If you ever hear us arguing about.
Mike Wright
It, you don't put words in my Mouth.
Andy Holloway
Okay, I'm not mad and Jason's not mad. But what it does is it illustrates.
Mike Wright
They're shaking.
Andy Holloway
You got to go to left handed handshake right there.
Mike Wright
That was very strong.
Andy Holloway
It's very strong and yet elegant.
Mike Wright
It was like the USA and the USSR have solved all their differences.
Andy Holloway
I call you the usa.
Jason Moore
Oh, you got me first. Dang it. I'm Russia.
Andy Holloway
But it highlights the beauty of fantasy football opinions because there are. We don't know. We do not know what Forte would be in that circumstance, but it's so much fun to. To think about. Like, I want all the free agents to land in opportunities mentally like the ones that we can come up with for them where they're excited. You know, Brock OSWALD Going to St. Louis, not as exciting as if he stayed in Denver. So I like the excitement. And Matt Forte would be at 30, really good player. It would be very interesting and obviously missed some time, so it'd be fun to see. As far as Doug Martin goes, I'm of the camp that doesn't believe that this was a. I'm here, then I'm gone, then I'm here. In terms of talent wise, I just think it was a tough place. I know he, he let people down. I believe this is Doug Martin. So if he's back, I think this will be Doug Martin.
Jason Moore
He was drafted to be this and he looked it. And so I lean more towards this being him as well. I hope he's back. Lamar Miller, guys.
Andy Holloway
The guy we agree with the most of anybody, right?
Mike Wright
It's Lamar Miller.
Andy Holloway
No, not at all.
Jason Moore
Miller, you know, I think he is going to be the, the premier free agent running back this offseason. He's 24 years old. This is not. This is not. I mean, Doug Martin is only 27, which is kind of young up there, but that's still up there. 24 is. You're getting a guy going into his prime. Not even there yet necessarily. You know, Forte obviously is the best player of the bunch, but he's old, so. And it seems to me like Lamar Miller, unlike Doug Martin and Matt Forte, will probably be gone. The cap. The cap.
Andy Holloway
Well, they just said that. Jay Ajayi. They came out publicly and said that they believed or that they believed he was a starting caliber runner.
Mike Wright
They're positioning themselves. I don't think there's a chance that Miller is going to want out. I mean, if you're that guy where you feel like you've been disrespected and misused for multiple years, even with A new coaching staff coming in. You're just going to say, I'm, I'm getting out of here. Even with your sweet tax benefits for my contract, I still think he'll. He'll want to take off. And I agree with Jason. 24 years old, that's the, that's the.
Andy Holloway
Highlight number there, 24.
Mike Wright
And on top of that limited use, we felt like he's getting misused in Miami because they're not giving him 20 carries a game.
Andy Holloway
And that's what he came out and said. He said the number one thing he's looking for in free agency is the fit. He says he needs somebody that is going to use me and my skill set.
Mike Wright
Hello, Cleveland Browns?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I mean, I guess we'll see. I mean, there's the talk of Dallas, there's the talk of some other destinations for him, but you're right, the age and the fact that we haven't got to see him with a load could mean great things for Fantasy.
Jason Moore
He is, he is very talented, in my opinion. I think he is worthy of a larger contract from a team, and I think he'll pay off for that team. I'm really excited to see where he lands, and I'm excited for him to leave for Jay Ajayi as well.
Andy Holloway
Sure. Yeah. Kind of clearing the murkiness, potentially for both guys, depending on where Lamar Miller lands. Now I'm going to name some other free agent running backs. Part of the purpose of this show. This is an overview. We didn't want to break this down into like five episodes, so I'm not going to linger on all of the running backs to discuss each one. We'll do that plenty in the offseason. But other guys, Chris Ivory and Blau Powell from New York, and then you have situations with James Starks in Green Bay, Chris Johnson, Alfred Morris in Washington, LeGarrett blunt in New England, and. And then Ronnie Hillman, Tim Hightower and Ahmad Bradshaw. Those are the kind of the other big running back names on the list right now. Other guys could come into the. Into play, like Arian Foster if he's cut, but let's pick a guy out. Give me a couple thoughts on it. Maybe the New York situation.
Jason Moore
Well, I've got a. Yeah. The situation that I want to talk about that I think is really interesting from just a parallel perspective, which is teams that have a lot of money invested in their defense, that have their quarterback running back and backup running back, which is both the Broncos and the Jets. Both of those with Chris Ivory and Blel Powell, very interesting free agents and Ronnie Hillman and C.J. anderson. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens here, and I don't see where you can bring back. You can't put a lot of that money into the running back position. You just can't. Both of these teams are a little cash strapped right now, so for me, I'm interested to see what happens in those two situations. I expect Chris Ivory to be out below Powell to be in as a piece though, right? Yes.
Andy Holloway
Not as a.
Mike Wright
Somebody else has to come in there and be the primary ball carrier, which the New York situation is very interesting to me because I agree, I think Ivory, I believe he'll be going, he'll be moving on, and that's kind of what the, the ESPN rumors and everything have been relaying. But Powell was so good down the stretching and is a very versatile back. I don't see how you can't bring him back and you won't have to pay him a bunch of money either.
Andy Holloway
All right, before we talk about some wide receivers, the big names and some other guys on the list, I'm going to give you guys quick hitting questions real fast on some of these running backs in the fantasy context here. So Chris Johnson, if he's back with Arizona, what's his fantasy relevance? Is it there?
Jason Moore
He's a backup.
Andy Holloway
Backup Alfred Morris is only 27. He's had a lot of tread on the tires. If he lands someplace else, could he surprise us with his fantasy relevance?
Mike Wright
He's a guy that going to the Jets. You combine Alfred Morris and Bilal Powell and you have a similar situation. He would have value to me anywhere else.
Jason Moore
I was going to say mostly no.
Andy Holloway
All right. LeGarrett Blunt's 29, but if he's in the right situation, which is on the goal line in New England. Is LeGarrett blunt the same as he was this past year in your mind?
Jason Moore
Same or worse, which isn't that great?
Andy Holloway
Same or worse? Same or worse. All right. Ronnie Hilman's 24 years old, Mike, and you despise him. However, 4.2 a carry on the year. Young has a skill set, right? He's not the between the tackle guy. He's not C.J. anderson. He doesn't have the balance or the size or the strength or the skill.
Mike Wright
But he's lacking really all the aspects that I look for in an NFL running back.
Andy Holloway
If I what's funny is I can step back and go, you know what? Ronnie Hillman was the starting running back for the majority of the year on the world champion Denver Broncos.
Jason Moore
There you go.
Andy Holloway
And so.
Jason Moore
And not in the Super Bowl, Ronnie.
Andy Holloway
Hillman, does he come back to Denver, and if he does, do you still despise him?
Mike Wright
Yep.
Jason Moore
And yep.
Andy Holloway
Okay. Tim Hightower, does he have a role next year with Ingram back?
Jason Moore
Oh, I hope so. I don't. I don't think he'll have a major role, but I hope he takes over that Kyrie Robinson role, which was used enough to be fantasy relevant when Kyrie was there. So I'm really hoping they bring Tim Hyde.
Mike Wright
They're interesting because Kyrie is a restricted free agent. Trevor's cadet is gone.
Jason Moore
He's.
Mike Wright
Is he.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's a free agent. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
Well, I'm saying he was on the team. And these are guys that could come back. They really need to clarify that situation before we have any idea what's going on. But it could be the Ingram and Hightower show.
Andy Holloway
They've always wanted a guy like Ingram or Robinson Ivory in the past that can come in and just take over if they need to. So I agree with you guys.
Jason Moore
Wide receivers.
Andy Holloway
All right, this is called Three Names and Some More Guys. That's what I'm calling the wide receivers. All right, Because I want to spend most of our time talking about three guys.
Mike Wright
There's a fourth name on here that I'm pretty sure you're leaving out of your big three.
Andy Holloway
Okay. James Jones.
Mike Wright
Nope.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I'm at a loss, too. I'm like, I see who the three are.
Mike Wright
All right, well, we'll get to him. We'll get to them.
Andy Holloway
If it's Rubes, I'm going to laugh at you.
Mike Wright
It's definitely Reuben Randall.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
There's three guys that are. Okay, okay. No, that's fair. That's fine, because you're right. He's 24 years old.
Mike Wright
He's going to get paid.
Andy Holloway
Alshon Jeffrey, Travis Benjamin, Marvin Jones and Reuben Randall.
Mike Wright
Ruben Randall.
Andy Holloway
I like Richard Matthews more than Ruben Randall.
Mike Wright
Ruben Randall.
Andy Holloway
Sean Jeffrey. Staying or going? What do we know, people? There's a lot of owners of dynasty teams, keeper leagues. Oh, what's going to happen to my Alshon?
Jason Moore
Staying. I hope he's staying. I think he's going to stay. All the reports are that it's probable he's going to stay. He's likely to return to Chicago where he needs to be. He's the number one guy. They don't know what they have in Kevin White yet. So, yeah, Alshon Jeffrey is back and you want him Paired up with Jay Cuddy.
Andy Holloway
From what I understand, he has said that of all the places he wants to be injured for the majority of the season, Chicago is really where he enjoys it the most. The hospitals, the rehab center.
Jason Moore
Alshon was just trying to prove how good he was that he's like, dude, I don't even need to do good on my contract year. Just watch, I'm going to be injured half the year.
Mike Wright
I'm still going to get strategy.
Andy Holloway
But nine games, 54 for 807 and four proving when he plays, he's a monster.
Mike Wright
Good grief.
Andy Holloway
That's a monster line. Yeah, monster line. Especially if he was handicapped in some of those games, which he probably was.
Jason Moore
He was very hobbled after some of those weeks. When he came back, he was barely in that game.
Andy Holloway
When he runs off the sideline, Fox goes, how many of your various muscles are hurting? You know, it's a, it's a quiz. Is it 2, 3, 4. He's always got a soft tissue issue. It seems like a soft tissue issue.
Mike Wright
He's got a tissue issue.
Andy Holloway
He's got a tissue issue. All right. But Alison Jeffries, a hyper, talented player, a really good player and he has a built in rapport with the quarterback. If he lands somewhere else, we don't know what that is. Sure it'd be great to land with Tom Brady, but.
Jason Moore
And he's 25. He's still, I mean, you know, he's not Jordy Nelson. Age. He is doing good.
Andy Holloway
Poor Jordy Nelson on the age front. It's just funny to have his name, his name associated with the age. Old Jordan Nelson. Aged players.
Jason Moore
That's Bryant. You consider still like, you know, young. Yeah, young. And he's 27. He's got two extra years. So.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, another young guy. So Al Sham. We won't talk a lot about him because we think he'll stay there.
Mike Wright
You have to franchise.
Andy Holloway
And if he's franchise or stays there, we project him forward as a top 12 guy.
Mike Wright
Absolutely.
Andy Holloway
So. So Travis. Oh, it's. No, that's fair.
Jason Moore
Burn it down.
Mike Wright
I think that's fair.
Jason Moore
He plays six.
Andy Holloway
Okay. There are some big names out there.
Jason Moore
Well, yeah, we'll see.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I was about to ask you who you're putting him in front of, but.
Mike Wright
Man, Jason is scorching today.
Andy Holloway
The takes like.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he said the super bowl is over and that only brings fuel to my takes.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Sam Bradford.
Jason Moore
I have no take on Sam Bradford other than he's going back to the Eagles.
Mike Wright
Is the red log from Back to the Future.
Andy Holloway
His Ideal team is Matt Forte and Sam Bradford. Just put them together and. All right. Travis Benjamin is a guy that I've really come around on as an actual, viable, real potential 1B type of guy.
Jason Moore
That is quite a roller coaster of.
Andy Holloway
He's Golden Tate. He's Golden Tate to me, where I don't believe Golden Tate can. Can run. And I know we disagree a little bit. I don't think Golden Tate's a one. There's. There's something about the size of the guy and the performance on the field. I think they're great one Bs, though. I can give him the one B title. Travis Benjamin, almost 1,000 yards with a hodgepodge of quarterbacks in Cleveland. Five touchdowns, really good drop rate. As in not a high one.
Mike Wright
Catch rate.
Andy Holloway
Catch rate. Really good catch rate. And I believe he's back with Cleveland. So that begs the question, is that good? Is that a good thing?
Mike Wright
Oh, okay, here's. Here's the deal.
Andy Holloway
I want to know what the deal is.
Mike Wright
I still like Josh McCown, and people think that's kind of weird. Look what Josh McCown has actually done the last couple years for fantasy, for not necessarily playing him, but for wide receivers. You had Benjamin this year, and I'm going to include Barnage in that as well.
Jason Moore
Sure.
Mike Wright
The previous year you had Mike Evans. The year before that you had Alshon.
Andy Holloway
Oh, Shawn exploded.
Mike Wright
So McCown can get it done for Fantasy for wide receivers. Top of that, I am in the camp that Flash Gordon. Josh Gordon is going to be back this year.
Andy Holloway
Me too.
Mike Wright
You put Josh Gordon and Travis Benjamin, who has emerged, and if he can truly be a 1B, that is an insane vertical attack with those two guys. You get a strong slot presence in there. And Gary Barnage, I mean, that's. That's very interesting for fantasy purposes.
Andy Holloway
And a pass catcher out of the backfield with.
Mike Wright
With Duke Johnson. Yeah.
Jason Moore
It'll be difficult to screw that up.
Mike Wright
Wait, who's the guy? Who did I have going there?
Jason Moore
I had a take.
Mike Wright
Who. What running back did I send up there?
Jason Moore
Oh, was it Lamar Miller?
Andy Holloway
No, you did send Lamar Miller up there.
Mike Wright
Did I?
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Okay, well, yeah, put Lamar Miller.
Andy Holloway
I don't think that's the guy they're looking for. They're looking for more of an alf, believe it or not. But Travis Benjamin, somebody. Okay, let's say he hits the market, though. He'll be in demand because there aren't a lot of really big names. The only guy, like, you know, assuming Jeffrey's back, I'm not even Putting him out on the open market. I think there's only one other name I like more than Travis Benjamin.
Mike Wright
You like him more?
Andy Holloway
I do. I like Marvin Jones more than Travis.
Jason Moore
I like Marvin Jones more than Travis Benjamin as well. I might even like Rubes a little bit better just because he's two years younger. If I'm a GM and going out and making a splash, I would. I would probably lean that way.
Andy Holloway
So Travis Benjamin destinations. It's going to always be thrown out there. The New England type of thing. Can you get another guy? Brandon lefell's days are numbered in drops. Like five drops today, five drops tomorrow. No. But somebody a reliable weapon. They've been trying to find that match for Brady. I don't know if we're wrong in the fantasy world to want it anymore. I think we might be. That game is not a vertical game anymore. It's a Julian Edelman underneath Amendola. Gronkowski. He's not taking. I mean, he. He did throw a lot up to lefell.
Jason Moore
I was gonna say lefell was. Was. Could have been a great fantasy option if he just caught the ball.
Andy Holloway
And the separation wasn't there either. On those deep.
Jason Moore
It was separated enough. He hit him in the hands.
Andy Holloway
Just catch it. So let's move on to Marvin Jones here. We've heard destinations for him like Detroit. Marvin Jones is really coming out of the right time. He's already said no hometown discount for Cincinnati.
Mike Wright
Good for you.
Andy Holloway
He's excited to hit the market. And why not? He. It's one of those things where not. Benjamin Jones can go out and make a lot of money and be a contributing player someplace else. We saw Golden Tate do this. Golden Tate left Seattle because it was just. He was just going to get paid. He'd be paid better and he could contribute and have a bigger opportunity someplace. I like Marvin Jones. Over 800 yards, four touchdowns. So what do you think about him? Is he somebody that we could see splash in the right destination?
Jason Moore
Yeah. Marvin Lewis, the head coach of the Bengals. He said before the year when he was asked who on your team hasn't scratched the surface? You know, hasn't really. Yeah. His potential. And he said without a doubt, it was super quick. Marvin Jones says he hasn't even come close to scratching the tip of the potential. The guy is incredibly talented and his ceiling is super high. I believe that as a player he will go somewhere else almost for sure.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
I think that's a given.
Andy Holloway
He's one of the guys I think has almost no chance to return.
Jason Moore
And his his entire output. I mean, this is, this is. We've. We've talked about it in prior weeks. Targets equals production for the receiver position. So it's going to be opportunity. Is he going to a place where he's. The two. Is he going to go to a place where he is the, you know, the, the one de facto if they, if they are, you know, really in need. If Travis Benjamin leaves the Browns and Marvin Jones goes to the Browns type of situation, the.
Mike Wright
The Giants might be in need of a pass catcher. If Reuben Randall moves on, which I expect him to do, and, and put Marvin Jones in there with, with Odell Beckham. It's a very interesting combination.
Andy Holloway
No, I agree with you on that one. That's an interesting place for him to land. But we'll monitor Marvin Jones for sure. He'll be one of the bigger names. Some other guys, we're going to go through them real quick again. I'm going to let people know who's out there, how it affects the depth charts. Anquan Bolden, he's going to be 35, but he still contributed in a big way last year, and they need somebody to catch the ball there. That makes San Francisco a destination for any of these guys, potentially, if he leaves Rashard Matthews, very productive in his time, but going to be forced out the door with Devonte Parker. So Rashard Matthews is a free agent. Ruben Randle, we just talked about him and Mike, you can give us your Ruben Randle and then you got James Jones, Brian Quick, Mohammed Sanu, Percy Harvin, Andre Holmes, couple of the Seattle guys, and Jermaine Curse and Ricardo Lockett, and then Nate Washington. So what do we think about what are the bigger names on there that you're actually excited for from a fantasy perspective, or are there no guys like that?
Mike Wright
There's not. I mean, besides Reuben Randle for me, which, yes, Reuben Randall can be extremely frustrating and at times, but maybe, maybe this change of scenery getting him out of the New York market is what he needs to really succeed and to thrive. But other than that, I mean, Andre Holmes is somewhat interesting to me. He's flashed a couple times in the past, but his.
Jason Moore
I think one of the biggest names from a fantasy perspective is Rashad Matthews, and not because of where he lands, but for him getting out of the way of Devonte Park. You. You know, I want Devonte Parker to take that step forward and be what he really can be, which is. Which is an excellent wide receiver, one in the NFL. But if Rashad Matthews comes back, that Water is just too muddy. The targets aren't there. I, I want to see Rashad Matthews leave just so that there is more targets to go around. Devontae Parker's way.
Mike Wright
If we're talking guys leaving, then to me it's curse Jermaine, curse up in Seattle and get, get out of the way for, for the Tyler Lockett experience. Because it's going to be great.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, and there are some interesting teams that kind of have wide receiver needs out there. I mean, I think San Diego is a place that they need to bring another wide receiver in there. They have some free agents in the pass catching area and you know, I think they're a place that a Marvin Jones could land and do really well in or some of these other names.
Mike Wright
That's a great.
Andy Holloway
Baltimore could sign a wide receiver.
Jason Moore
Baltimore really needs a wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
San Francisco, we said it. There's some other teams that are interesting. You mentioned the Giants. They're going to lose. Reuben Randall, most likely. Or they could bring him back and then he'd be out. They'd be out of the category there. But it'll be interesting to see where some of these guys land and we'll talk about them more as the offseason progresses. Anybody else you want to mention before we kind of wrap this up at the tight end position?
Mike Wright
No, I think that's the big ones.
Jason Moore
No, I think that Dwayne Bowe might become available. He might get cut.
Andy Holloway
Well, you know who will champion him? Mike.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it didn't work out very well.
Andy Holloway
No, it did not.
Jason Moore
Tight ends. All right. Very aggressive tight end call there.
Andy Holloway
Well, you know, if NFL.com is up, a video is going to be playing on your screen. There's just no way about it. Few tabs deep, but we've got tight.
Mike Wright
Ends buried in my tabs.
Andy Holloway
Buried in my tabs.
Jason Moore
Speaking of San Diego, I think that's where some of the biggest tight end question marks are and they need pass catchers. You've got Antonio Gates, old man Gates coming into his 64th year of life. He's 35 years old going.
Andy Holloway
He's actually been on the Chargers for 60 of those 65 years.
Jason Moore
It's really impressive.
Andy Holloway
Ladari's Green will be out the door.
Jason Moore
You think?
Mike Wright
Yes, I think not.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so that's the situation. 35 year old Antonio Gates, 26 year old Ladarius Green, both free agents. Indications look like Gates will be back for another season. And Ladarius Green has a humongous body and is athletic and can play the position.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that Sounds pretty good.
Andy Holloway
You're not ready. You're not ready for another one of those tight end contracts to drop the Charles Clay type of deals.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's.
Andy Holloway
I guess that's my concern.
Mike Wright
Ledarius Green is my most interesting tight end free agent. Where if you're San Diego, though, I mean, Antonio Gates does not have a future. He does not have infinite time left. I mean, he's got maybe a couple.
Andy Holloway
You could draft a guy, let Ladarius go, don't overpay for him. Use Gates this year and draft a couple.
Mike Wright
It would depend on how much. But Ladarius Green, I think is the, he is the, the best available tight end here. And there's a couple teams that have a situation where like the Colts, both Dwayne Allen and Kobe Fleener are on this list. Ladarius Green, that'd be a great up in that blue.
Jason Moore
Great signing there. Ladarius Green can, can block as well, I think. Andy, you were saying the packers have been linked a little bit to Ladarius Green. We. We forget that Aaron Rodgers used to use the tight end quite a bit back when he had a good pass. Jermichel Finley was a great fantasy option and Jermichael Finley. Ladarius Green reminds me a little bit of Jamaica Finley.
Andy Holloway
Jermichael Finley was annoying. You're not wrong. He was good sometimes, but he was annoying because he wanted him to be great.
Mike Wright
He was always on the precipice of a breakout.
Andy Holloway
So they got, they got like $27 million in cap space in San Diego. The logical smart thing for a 4 and 12 team to do would be to sign Green and let Gates go and rebuild.
Mike Wright
Yeah, you really should.
Andy Holloway
So we'll have to see if he can become. If he stays there, he could be a big weapon. I don't think there's a better situation than him staying there and being their tight end because then you've got the rapport with, with Rivers.
Mike Wright
Do you think that Gates would even play if, if San Diego says, hey, we're going to move on Antonio, you think Gates retires?
Andy Holloway
No. Yes. Yes. Absolutely. Yeah. He's done. He would, he would retire. I mean, he's, he's certainly not the same player, but he's still valuable. He still showed that he could do things on the field, but from a fantasy perspective, he's outside of our upper echelon by far.
Mike Wright
Right. So the, the Colts guys I was talking about, Dwayne Allen, Kobe, Fleener. The rumors are the Kobe Fleener will be back, but there's I can't imagine a situation where they're going to pay both of these guys and they got a pick. And it would seem right now that you're. They're going to pick Colby Fleener. There will be a market for Dwayne Allen, but Kobe Fleener, if he comes back and he's kind of the only tight end of note, he becomes a very interesting tight end. One prospect moving on till next year.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I like him more if Dwayne Allen's gone for sure. Other than that, I don't think that there's any, any other. I mean, you, you got Vernon Davis. He's too old to really make a splash or run. You've got Ben Watson, who, although is older, had a great year. I hope he resigns with the Saints just because of the rapport that he has there. But he's 35, not getting any younger, not going to command any contract from anyone. Mercedes Lewis I'm just not excited about any of these tight ends. I don't think any of them are going to be fantasy relevant next year. I don't think them leaving makes anyone else fantasy relevant. The only possibility is maybe if Ben Watson leaves, I think that hurts Drew Brees a little bit. If they don't replace him, I don't, I don't think Josh Hill can replace Ben Watson.
Andy Holloway
No. You. They're a good destination for one of these other free agent tight ends.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I guess if Ben Watson were to leave and they were to bring someone else in. The problem is the Saints are very, they're one of those top five worst cap situation teams. So they're not going to go make a splash and get green.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, they could be in the situation of trafficking. And then we're wondering the new Zach.
Mike Wright
Miller up in Chicago who kind of exploded onto the scene, had a couple good games there. The word is he wants 5 mil, 5 large.
Andy Holloway
Got to do it now. There's no better time than now.
Mike Wright
So he may be pricing himself out of the NFL and he might settle. In that case, it'll be interesting in Chicago. Does the black unicorn, Martellus Bennett, does he come back then? If Zach Miller prices himself out, I.
Andy Holloway
Feel like the ship has sailed on him. But what Jason.
Mike Wright
We had a very strong physical reaction from Jason.
Jason Moore
I just, I'm realizing a free agent who's not a free agent yet, that I think is going to be one of the bigger, splashier guys. I have no doubt we will disagree on this guy as well, but that's RG3 is worth a Mention, I think.
Mike Wright
Absolutely worth a mention.
Jason Moore
I believe that if he goes to a different destination, he can be a valuable fantasy quarterback for a couple of weeks. I think he can be a valuable fantasy quarterback for a couple of years.
Andy Holloway
Week one and two, man, in Cleveland. Week one and two.
Jason Moore
What I saw from the Washington Redskins with my own eyeballs. I don't know how to describe it. I don't know how to get a.
Andy Holloway
Playoff team when they started a different quarterback, how to justify it.
Jason Moore
But when you watch in that preseason, the offensive line, when RG3 was behind them, they just let. They were complete matadors. I've never seen anything like it in my life. Watching the preseason, he gets the ball and three guys are tackling him in a second. I can see why you like his potential. No, I'm telling you, Kirk Cousins comes in and all of a sudden they protect him. I'm not talking about. He's making better reads. I'm literally saying time from ball snap to defenders in the face. It was like nothing I'd ever seen.
Mike Wright
You are clearly suggesting that the fix is in from Jake Rudin, that the. The stockings of the offensive lineman have been padded a little bit extra with some quiche.
Jason Moore
Look, it wasn't anything RG3 did, all right?
Andy Holloway
We won't get into it. RG3 holds the ball too long by far. Do you disagree, Mike?
Mike Wright
I do not disagree.
Andy Holloway
All right?
Mike Wright
But I think that Griffin will be. We're talking about Griffin, who had a chance, who likely to be cut. I think he deserves another chance. I think he will get another chance. But will. Can he succeed with that? That. That is remains to be seen.
Andy Holloway
I like RG3. I do.
Jason Moore
I want him to go to Dallas.
Andy Holloway
I'd love to see him succeed someplace.
Mike Wright
I don't. I've heard a lot of people.
Andy Holloway
Why would you want him to go to Dallas?
Jason Moore
People want him to go to Dallas.
Andy Holloway
You like backups?
Jason Moore
Is one, I want him to go and be a backup. Right. And not be thrust into a position too quickly. Two, I want him behind a really good offensive line. And three, Tony Romo is. You know, they've got to have somebody.
Mike Wright
Tony Romo is going to be 36 here in a couple months. Tony Romo still has four years left.
Andy Holloway
Yep. Well, and that's the mentality of Jerry Jones, too.
Jason Moore
He's also been made of peanut brittle this year, so hopefully mantium works.
Andy Holloway
Collarbone sounds delicious.
Mike Wright
They're.
Andy Holloway
They're.
Mike Wright
They're surgically get him.
Andy Holloway
What did. Seriously. Peanut brittle in there?
Mike Wright
Yeah. The guy from The Panthers, like, his name is escaping me right now. Who had his arm?
Andy Holloway
Thomas Davis.
Mike Wright
Yeah, they're gonna give him that Thomas Davis surgery and he's gonna be good to go.
Jason Moore
Mailbag back to a baby.
Andy Holloway
How'd you three.
Mike Wright
If you haven't seen the picture of Davis's arm, tweet that it's not.
Andy Holloway
But look at it up after lunch.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
It's not for the faint of heart, but that guy, he went all in.
Andy Holloway
Did you see him crying in the locker room? And like Ron Rivera was just holding him and he was just bawling his eyes out.
Mike Wright
Probably cuz his arm hurts like crap.
Jason Moore
Hurts so bad, Ron. Oh, man, I've never seen stitches that large. It looked like they.
Mike Wright
That's a Frankenstein stitch.
Jason Moore
Yeah, they cut.
Andy Holloway
It's temporary is what it looks like.
Jason Moore
They didn't cut his arm with like a scalpel that does a nice thin incision. It was like a serrated bread knife. Yes. They just were going to work with a spoon.
Mike Wright
Just carving out prison shank.
Andy Holloway
Somebody fixed it at dinner that night.
Jason Moore
But man, that is a player. I shouldn't even mock that. He was crying because of the pain because that dude went out and played.
Andy Holloway
Hard in the Super Bowl.
Jason Moore
That is incredible.
Andy Holloway
And that team was amazing this year front to back. I mean, I. I wanted to see a close game.
Jason Moore
You saw it.
Andy Holloway
And we saw a pretty good game. We just saw the equation that didn't work for the Cardinals, didn't work for Carolina, which was turning the ball over. You can't do that and win. Well, they have four of them. Right.
Mike Wright
So in my prediction, I did not foresee that many turnovers happening that might. Tolbert fumble. What are you doing?
Andy Holloway
Second fumble, by the way, we didn't.
Jason Moore
Even mention the fact that they had Cameron Artist pain inactive like idiots.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I thought it was a bad move too. And it just almost looked catastrophic when J. Stu limped off the field.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Yeah. All right. So. All right. If you have a question for the show, it is easy to send it to us. You can also call our voicemail hotline 302-464-TFFB anytime and leave your voicemail. Question. Jimmy in Boston has a question. Guys.
Mike Wright
Hey, Jimmy.
Jason Moore
Hey, Jim.
Andy Holloway
Hey, guys. I have a fun keeper league where I have the option of keeping a player two positions ahead of where they were drafted. So two rounds ahead Trying to find out who I should keep for the best value next week, next year and then the year after that. Four set for a 12th round because he kept him for 14th.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
David Johnson for a 13th or Rawls for the 14th. Those guys were both undrafted, therefore they. Apparently they were both undrafted. Why are they in different rounds?
Jason Moore
Yeah, that is a little strange.
Andy Holloway
I am also interested in your thoughts about trading these players or picks for picks next year, knowing that you can keep them at their draft positions.
Mike Wright
Is he saying he can keep two? So that would mean that David Johnson gets bumped up to a 13th or somebody does.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah, there you go. That is why he can keep two. So you wouldn't keep them both at the 14th because you don't have two 14th rounders.
Jason Moore
Well, this got real easy.
Andy Holloway
So David Johnson and Thomas Rawls are your keepers.
Jason Moore
I thought we were deciding between David Johnson and Thomas Rawls and I had my arguments already in my head and then. Yeah, that's clearly the. Clearly the right move. You want to keep those two young studs who look like they are going to be dominant as far as trading.
Andy Holloway
Them, somebody might come with a really strong offer.
Mike Wright
Have to be strong.
Jason Moore
Especially if like what could be stronger? What could be much more strong than years and years of potential value.
Andy Holloway
There's your word though. That's why you just said potential. The value that you could get. If somebody came to you and they wanted to offer you the sun, moon and stars for the potential of Thomas.
Jason Moore
Rolls me an example then.
Andy Holloway
Adrian Peterson and a pick.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I probably wouldn't do it.
Andy Holloway
Okay. But that's okay. I might. Adrian Peterson's done it.
Mike Wright
Someone could come with a strong offer and between the two of them, I would keep David Johnson.
Andy Holloway
Okay. I mean neither. The whole point is that Rawls and David Johnson, as much as we want to put their posters on our wall, they haven't been printed yet.
Mike Wright
Well, you, you can speak to your own walls. Well, because I have a mural, obviously.
Andy Holloway
You paint on your own walls. You got a giant David Johnson face that you sleep. It's right on the ceiling.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And so when you close your eyes at night, you see David Johnson up there. All right, Tyler in Memphis, he needs help keeping 2 and a 12 team, half point PPR. AP for a first effort for a 14th, Watkins for a 15th. He also has a seventh pick. And if he doesn't keep AP, he'll be looking at Dez or McCoy in the first round. Maybe not McCoy. We'll wait and see. Let' all right, so what would you do in that situation. You got AP for a first. You got values with Ifrt and Watkins.
Jason Moore
Watkins is automatic. I think I'm with you, Andy. I'm going to take AP over Eifert and roll with it from there. I'm going AP and Sammy Wonka.
Mike Wright
I'm going with Watkins and Iford. I'm going to leave my first round open. If I fall back and it's dez. Great.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right.
Mike Wright
Great.
Andy Holloway
No running backs. You have no running backs to the second round.
Mike Wright
And I completely understand that if you're. I don't mind keeping Peterson in the first. It's just. I want that open and Peterson, maybe he'll be there for you to redraft him. Who knows?
Jason Moore
Doubt it.
Andy Holloway
But yeah, maybe because he said he's looking at Desmond McCoy.
Mike Wright
Well, he's.
Jason Moore
That.
Mike Wright
That's right now. I mean, think lots of things can change.
Andy Holloway
Essentially what you're saying is you'd rather have Des and Ifert than AP because that's what that trade would be. Right? You'd be trading or McCoy for Des and.
Mike Wright
Or McCoy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's fine.
Mike Wright
McCoy gets cleared, everything's a. Okay.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Long way to go before we find. We better check TMZ right now, Patrick, because that's. That's where we go for all our news. Patrick, it's funny because that story breaks and I'm like, I bet they got some news on that. Yeah, they've got all the nightclubs covered front to back. Patrick in Atlanta, where's that? Is that under the sea?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I think it is. He's found it.
Andy Holloway
Wow. All right, we get to keep four players with no round penalty. All right, we start three wide receivers and quarterbacks get. I think he means. And quarterbacks get six points per passing td. They don't start three quarterbacks. With Megatron retiring, I need help deciding on my fourth keeper. I'm keeping Rogers, Julio and Alan Robinson. All right, should I keep Josh Gordon, Latavius Murray or Carlos Hyde with my third. Third, Fourth keeper?
Jason Moore
It's a little early.
Andy Holloway
You have to decide.
Jason Moore
Yeah, Josh Gordon is a great option as a keeper here if he is back. Obviously you don't know that. Now you've already got two wide receivers so that would give you. That would just give you a beast wide receiver core. But it would leave you empty on running backs in a four keeper league. Meaning you are going to have slim pickings at running back. So I would probably lean Latavius Murray.
Mike Wright
I lean Josh Gordon, do I? I'm pulling up Josh Gordon. Highlights right now just so I can start getting hyped.
Andy Holloway
Boy, he was good. I can hear him. I can hear him coming through.
Mike Wright
My bad.
Andy Holloway
He was very good, so. All right, that does it for today's show. Make sure you stay tuned for the show after the show, which is on YouTube exclusively. So check that out, and thank you for listening. We'll be here all off season. We got more great stuff coming up soon. You guys have any parting words before we. We move on here?
Mike Wright
Yeah. Go watch some Josh Gordon highlights. He's really good. He is. He is a ridiculous human being.
Andy Holloway
He's a very, very, very good wide receiver, and I hope that he gets it all together and we don't have any more drama, because everybody knows that Cleveland fans need a little bit of good news.
Mike Wright
Call Mary J. Blige. No drama. Goodbye.
Andy Holloway
Goodbye, everybody.

Andy Holloway (03:11): "I tweeted yesterday after the super bowl that all of you QB shamers out there that want to tear down old man Manning, Peyton Manning, don't do it is what I say."
Jason Moore adds a historical perspective by comparing Manning’s performance to John Elway's in the 1998 Super Bowl:
Jason Moore (03:37): "John Elway, when he won the Super bowl in 1998, he was 12 of 22 for 123, 0 touchdowns, and one interception, which is almost identical to Peyton Manning's winning the super bowl yesterday."
Broncos’ Defensive Dominance:
Von Miller and the Broncos' defense receive high praise for their exceptional performance:
Andy Holloway (04:12): "That was a very strong reaction. That was like Cam walking out of the media day."
Jason Moore (04:33): "The Broncos pass rush was legendary. I thought it was one of the best pass rushes of all time."
The defense's ability to limit opposing quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, and Cam Newton is highlighted as a key factor in their Super Bowl victory.
Controversial Moments:
A pivotal moment discussed is the controversial catch by Cam Newton:
Andy Holloway (06:30): "When I saw the replay and part of the tip of the ball hit the ground even though he had possession when he rolled over, I thought it was a catch."
Mike Wright (07:06): "I thought it was undoubtedly a catch."
This turnover, where Von Miller stripped the ball from Newton leading to a Broncos touchdown, is seen as a game-changing play.
Marshawn Lynch’s Retirement:
Marshawn Lynch’s unexpected retirement announcement during the Super Bowl garners significant attention:
Andy Holloway (09:36): "We just talk about all the things that you don't associate with. I need to be the lead dog someplace."
Mike Wright (10:26): "If you're that guy where you feel like you've been disrespected and misused for multiple years, you're just going to say, I'm getting out of here."
Lynch's departure is described as another chapter in his unique career, leaving fans contemplating his legacy and impact.
The primary focus of the episode is a comprehensive preview of the free agent market, analyzing key quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.
Sam Bradford (Philadelphia Eagles):
Sam Bradford’s status as a free agent is a major discussion point. The hosts evaluate his accuracy and injury history:
Jason Moore (19:01): "Sam Bradford is the cream of the crop when it comes to free agent quarterbacks."
Andy Holloway (19:18): "Give me Kirk, give me upside. Give me not five years of what I've seen before. Bradford is well worth a paycheck."
The consensus leans towards Bradford re-signing with the Eagles, given his talent and the team's need for a reliable QB.
Kirk Cousins (Washington Redskins):
Kirk Cousins is another quarterback under scrutiny. While Jason Moore acknowledges Cousins' accuracy, he expresses reservations about his consistency:
Jason Moore (22:19): "I do not Agree that Kirk Cousins is going to be a very good option outside of Washington."
Andy Holloway remains optimistic about Cousins staying in Washington, highlighting his potential if surrounded by the right offensive pieces.
Brock Osweiler (Denver Broncos):
The uncertainty surrounding Brock Osweiler’s future, especially with Peyton Manning nearing retirement, is discussed:
Jason Moore (25:28): "Osweiler, of anybody we've talked about, is by far the most interesting situation."
Andy Holloway (25:45): "I think his best career path is to stay and enjoy Von Miller."
The hosts speculate that Osweiler might remain with the Broncos to continue supporting their dominant defense.
Matt Forte (Chicago Bears):
Matt Forte's free agency status is debated, with Jason Moore expressing surprise over Forte's potential move:
Jason Moore (28:19): "He's the biggest name in the whole free agent kit and caboodle."
Andy Holloway (29:32): "It’s more often than not when these guys leave in these situations at this age, it’s not like you see an uptick."
Andy cautions against expecting Forte to significantly boost his fantasy value if he moves, while Jason remains hopeful about Forte's potential impact, even considering a stint with the Patriots.
Doug Martin (Buffalo Bills):
Doug Martin’s potential re-signing with the Bills is analyzed, focusing on his performance and the team's willingness to invest:
Jason Moore (33:45): "He was drafted to be this and he looked it. And so I lean more towards this being him as well."
Andy Holloway (35:28): "We’re just a couple features Costco want to resume. But I like it."
The uncertainty revolves around whether the Bills will offer Martin a lucrative contract or seek alternatives.
Lamar Miller (Miami Dolphins):
Lamar Miller is identified as the premier free agent running back, with Jason Moore highlighting his talent and age as key factors:
Jason Moore (35:36): "I think he is going to be the, the premier free agent running back this offseason."
Andy Holloway (37:07): "He said the number one thing he's looking for in free agency is the fit."
Miller’s desire for a fitting offensive scheme makes his destination intriguing for fantasy managers.
Other Running Backs:
The episode also touches on other RBs like Chris Ivory, Bled Powell, Ronnie Hillman, and others, discussing their potential impact and fit with prospective teams.
Alshon Jeffery (Chicago Bears):
Alshon Jeffery is expected to re-sign with the Bears, maintaining his status as a top receiver:
Jason Moore (43:30): "He’s staying. I think he’s going to stay."
The hosts discuss Jeffery’s health and chemistry with the quarterback as critical for his continued production.
Marvin Jones (Cincinnati Bengals):
Marvin Jones is highlighted as a highly talented receiver seeking a new team to fulfill his potential:
Jason Moore (49:17): "He is incredibly talented and his ceiling is super high."
Andy Holloway (49:46): "Marvin Jones says he hasn't even come close to scratching the tip of his potential."
The likelihood of Jones moving to a team like the Giants is considered, especially if the Raiders release Reuben Randall.
Travis Benjamin (Cleveland Browns):
Travis Benjamin’s emergence as a potential 1B (top-tier) receiver in Cleveland is discussed, emphasizing his yards and touchdowns:
Andy Holloway (46:26): "Ronnie Hillman… he was a dominant player for the Broncos."
Jason Moore (45:10): "Burn it down."
Reuben Randall (New York Giants):
Reuben Randall’s possible move to another team is considered, with Mike Wright expressing frustration but acknowledging it might be beneficial for Randall's performance.
Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers):
Antonio Gates is expected to re-sign with the Chargers despite his age, while Ladarius Green is seen as a promising young tight end:
Jason Moore (54:10): "Ladarius Green can block as well, I think."
Andy Holloway (56:32): "Gregg's gate… let's monitor Marvin Jones."
Andy and Jason debate the future of Gates, emphasizing his value versus Green’s potential.
Ladarius Green (San Diego Chargers):
Ladarius Green is viewed as an athletic tight end who could be a significant addition for teams like the Colts or Packers, depending on his fit.
Jason Moore (55:48): "Ladarius Green can block as well, I think."
Andy Holloway (56:45): "Do you think Gates would even play if San Diego says, 'We're going to move on Antonio'?"
Listener Questions:
The episode concludes with a mailbag segment where listeners’ questions are addressed. One notable question from Jimmy in Boston involves decisions in a keeper league with unique rules allowing players to be kept two positions ahead of their draft rounds.
Keeper League Strategies:
Andy Holloway (64:28): "Would you keep David Johnson for a 13th or Rawls for the 14th."
Jason Moore (65:03): "I would keeping David Johnson and Thomas Rawls are your keepers."
The hosts provide strategic advice, emphasizing the importance of retaining young, high-potential players like David Johnson and Thomas Rawls over more established but potentially less impactful options.
The hosts wrap up the episode by encouraging listeners to engage with their content on various platforms, highlighting the continuation of in-depth analysis throughout the off-season.
