Andy Holloway
Welcome in to Wednesday. It is Wednesday, December 28th. More like Wednesday as in you are gonna win.
Mike Wright
You either won or you're gonna win.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's the good motivating attitude.
Mike Wright
Positive, positive, positive.
Andy Holloway
Welcome to the show. New Year's approaches. I'm gonna tell you right now. I've been talking about the shows we're doing in the new year. Things like the Truth About Fantasy Running backs and tight ends and wide receivers and quarterbacks, Our footy awards. I'm throwing it out there now. We're doing some New Year's resolutions.
Mike Wright
Oh, I love it.
Andy Holloway
Some fantasy football resolutions. Some things that we learned over the last year that we want to commit to in 2017.
Jason Moore
I was actually talking to Mike, like last week about something that I had learned. I want to make sure I write down because for next year, I think it's an important lesson to be learned. So I'll save that for then. Also, Mike, I hope you remember because I don't.
Mike Wright
Yes, wrote that down. I do remember. Also, I brought it up to Jason. I don't recall. Andy, if you gave the affirmative full go on this, the three of us are going to do a playoff bracket challenge.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
We are going to fill out the bracket.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
Whoever has the most accurate bracket through the super bowl there will be the lunch bet. Except it is a two for one.
Andy Holloway
So if I win, I get to choose both of your lunches for a week.
Mike Wright
That is correct.
Andy Holloway
I am going. Oh, I got a win.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I mean, the glory.
Jason Moore
This is going to be good.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Now you have. I mean, you have spectacles now, so we can actually show.
Mike Wright
Yes, that is true.
Andy Holloway
Explain those.
Mike Wright
Well, I got to up the. I've been told I gotta up the Snapchat game.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the kids, the other kids out there, there's some.
Mike Wright
Some older folk like us that like the Snapchat as well. So we're working on it. We're working on it. I believe we're the FF ballers everywhere.
Andy Holloway
I was gonna say. I don't even know I mentioned it. So that People can go and follow the.
Mike Wright
Yeah, follow us.
Andy Holloway
Follow the snappy snaps.
Jason Moore
The.
Andy Holloway
All right, what do we have on the show today? We got the pump the brakes segment. We're talking week 17, pump the brakes with O'Reilly Auto Parts. We have some articles on the website, including the ever loved snap count observation article. Not to be confused with Snapchat. It's the snap. Snap count is different than snap count.
Mike Wright
We could snapchat about snap count. We can't.
Andy Holloway
And we will. We will do that in 2017. That's one of my resolutions. You can follow us on TwitterFFballers. If you want to follow the guys individually, you can do so. Jason is at Jason FFL. Mike is at FF Hitman. I'm at Andy Holloway. The website's the fantasy footballers.com and our fantasy community is jointhefoot.com. we are doing a. I guess Mike has a game prepared for the show today.
Mike Wright
A little quick one.
Andy Holloway
We have some news and notes and we have the mailbag getting you ready for Week 17 title games as well as some dynasty and keeper and long term context questions. So it'll be a fun show today. Definitely excited about that. It's, it's weird we don't have a Thursday night football game to preview.
Mike Wright
Yeah, everything is on Sunday this week.
Andy Holloway
Oh, all right.
Mike Wright
I thought there was a Thursday. I thought there was a Saturday, but no, it's all Sunday.
Andy Holloway
How are you doing, Jason?
Jason Moore
Doing pretty good. That's good. I'm tired this morning because it's winter here in Arizona and you never want to get out of bed.
Andy Holloway
No, it's dark. It's pitch dark. When, when we our children rise.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Like small vampires.
Mike Wright
It makes no sense.
Andy Holloway
All right, well, it's time, guys.
Jason Moore
Oh, oh, oh, oh. O'Reilly.
Andy Holloway
Oh, parts. Oh, it's pump the brakes with O'Reilly. We've got, you know, we got one each little different this week. Weird week to pump the brakes on players. You have different quarterbacks playing guys being sat down. Yesterday. Tyrod Taylor was your stream of the week. And then moments after the show completed, they said, hey, we're going to start EJ Manual. You still. Are you still going with Tyrod?
Mike Wright
In my heart, yes, sure. In my heart, yeah.
Andy Holloway
But you only, you only play fantasy in week 17 in your heart.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So that you're safe. All right, Jason, who you. Wait, what?
Jason Moore
You have officially changed your.
Mike Wright
That is correct.
Jason Moore
Start of the week. So let the people know.
Andy Holloway
You can start stream.
Jason Moore
Stream.
Mike Wright
You can check out the fantasy footballers dot com. We always put out the Article of the streams and I've moved over to the always in the running streaming candidate Mr. Joey Flacco taking on a pretty defeated Bengals defense. I think that he's a fine play. If you are scraping the bottom of the barrel this week.
Andy Holloway
I feel like Joe Flacco has long desired to be a fantasy football quarterback but he is now just excited when he's a stream.
Mike Wright
Well and we also have you have the narrative of the Steve Smith. Let's see what we can do with Smith. You know feed the beast.
Andy Holloway
I am very excited. Steve Smith must start of the week this week just see know spoiler that's tomorrow's show. People will forget by then. All right, my pump the brakes. This week I'm going with the Denver wide receivers. Not only did they disappoint you last week when you expected more out of DT and Emmanuel Sanders and you might be stuck playing them, but this week you have a quarterback situation. Trevor sent me in through a through for 39% completion. A 39% completion percentage last week. This week it might be that bad. It's going to be Paxton lynch most likely. So you've got a rookie. It's just too hard to depend upon them. Even though they're, you know they're facing Oakland. I don't like them so I'm pumping the brakes on them for this, for this final game and I will throw out a long term consideration that you know they, they will go as the quarterback position goes in Denver. Unfortunately that's how wide receivers that's how they work in dynasty league.
Mike Wright
Yeah, we've seen that happen a lot this season and I sat down to do my pump the brakes with the Tyrod Taylor news. I thought oh, I'm gonna this is gonna be easy now you got to pump the brakes on the pass catchers for Buffalo. And I said Charles Clay, he's been on fire. Right. I'm gonna pump the brakes. No, no, that was incorrect. Charles Clay. In fact the game splits with E.J. manuel. His receptions are about double. So I'm, I'm not first I'm not saying Charles Clay is an absolute must start but saying I'm not going to pump the brakes on him when it seemed to make sense. But Manuel apparently feeds the tight end instead. I'm going on the other side of Andy's game. We're going with the Oakland wide receivers. Derek Carr can't send in the car now you have there McGlory.
Andy Holloway
Send in the McGloin.
Mike Wright
You got McGloin coming in. You pile that on top of the Denver DBs are just elite. The elite of the elite. I'm finding a different option. You got Amari Cooper. I'm going to try and sit him down.
Andy Holloway
I've been told by Oakland fans that I should not underestimate Matt McGloin, although it sounded a lot like how I used to talk when I said, well, Drew Stanton's really got a shot. So it's not so much that the guy can't surprise. It's the fact you can't rely on it. That's what we talk about in fantasy.
Mike Wright
It's the fact of McGloin plus Denver.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I mean, nobody.
Mike Wright
Nobody's been. That's going to be a shot right in the McGloin.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. That's not.
Jason Moore
Nobody's been able to throw on Denver the whole year. It's not going to be Matt.
Andy Holloway
What about McGloin to get it done.
Jason Moore
For my pump the brakes, I'm looking a little bit more towards the future, and possibly this week, I'm pumping the brakes on Melvin Gordon a little bit. I figured this is our last pump the brakes of the season, and so I wanted to look a little bit more forward. If Melvin Gordon plays this week, which is really up in the air. He wasn't at practice. I don't think this week, I don't think he'll play. If he plays, he might just want to get those three yards, get out of the game.
Andy Holloway
We have one more pump the brakes. Just so you know.
Jason Moore
All right.
Andy Holloway
We've got a playoff. Pump the breaks next Wednesday.
Mike Wright
I would love so very much if they put Melvin Gordon in just to get his three yards.
Jason Moore
Oh, that would be awesome. Yes, I would appreciate. I would like the coach.
Andy Holloway
That's why I said he loses five on his first carry, and then he.
Jason Moore
Then you just pull him.
Mike Wright
No, you got to keep him in until he gets that thousand.
Jason Moore
But here's what I'm actually saying is that Melvin Gordon next year is going to be looked at as, you know, one of those top five, six, seven runs.
Andy Holloway
You asked the question yesterday is, is it Gurley or Gordon.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Who's actually better? And we have to remember what happened this year for Melvin Gordon to have that sweet, magical stretch of the season. It took losing every other running back on the roster to be the guy. And I think we're going to project him to be the guy. Like he's going to be in on first, second, third down. But that's not what the team wants to do. They want to have a Danny Woodhead or they want to have somebody else in there to, to give him rest and look what happened. They lost him this year, having to overwork him. So I'm saying next year, Melvin Gordon, he's going to be a good back, but he's not going to be one of those top five guys. This is the time of year it.
Mike Wright
Will be an interesting situation because Woodhead's a, a free agent this year.
Andy Holloway
I don't know if they're an injury prone.
Mike Wright
I don't know if they can resign him.
Andy Holloway
All right, that was pump the brakes with O'Reilly Auto Parts. Better parts, better prices every day with O'Reilly. Let's go ahead and let's jump in the news.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
All right, good news, everyone. Jordan Reed's gonna play well.
Mike Wright
Yeah, this is, I'm not playing him if it's my fantasy championship. But this is Washington. They have to win. This is a, you lose, you go home. No more playoffs for you. So you're one of your best pass catching weapons. If he can get out there and help in any capacity, you have to have him active.
Andy Holloway
The Bills have officially fired Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan. However, I know, Jason, you've brought up the fact that you believe you know, this is good for Sammy Watkins for the future. Are you as enthusiastic with the fact they're just going to take the existing offensive coordinator and likely make him the head coach? Because that is what is most likely going to happen. So you have the guy running the.
Mike Wright
Current offense and they're benching Tyrod Taylor.
Andy Holloway
In which it's an awkward benching, they say protecting him, but it's not. What are you protecting him from There?
Mike Wright
This is full on Robert Griffin. This is in.
Andy Holloway
Oh yeah, Cousins got that last start.
Mike Wright
No, in Taylor's contract he is, if he is hurt, his guarantee goes way up, which by the way, we've talked a little bit off the show about. There's some college players now making a business decision to sit out of a bowl game to get ready for the draft. And there's been some support, but there's been a lot of people poo pooing these athletes saying, well, you're get out there and play. This is what you're supposed to do. Even though they could, they're at risk of losing millions of dollars.
Andy Holloway
Well, you see, Mike, they don't, they won't get their game check from that bowl game though.
Mike Wright
But meanwhile, now you have the Buffalo head office saying, we're not going to play a guy because if he gets hurt we're going to have to pay him a lot of money. I don't hear anyone crushing them, saying that this is just super greedy, that you're not playing your best players. You said they're gonna put Mike.
Jason Moore
Oh, yes.
Mike Wright
Voice.
Jason Moore
But Mike, the college guys are kids and that's also known as slaves. They have to do what the grown ups say.
Mike Wright
It's, it's a terrible situation. But I just wanted to point out the, the, the irony here of that. The, the billionaires can make these decisions and the kids are trying to get their first paycheck. They're the ones who are in the wrong. Yeah.
Jason Moore
Regarding the fantasy situation in bu, I think it's too early to just say that the offensive coordinator is going to get that job. He's the interim head coach. But you don't name someone as the interim head coach.
Andy Holloway
No, they've already come out and said that he's the.
Jason Moore
Oh, for real? Yeah.
Andy Holloway
He's by far the front runner. To be the.
Jason Moore
Well, there's a difference between being a front runner and being the head coach, right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Because he's currently the interim. But the trend right now is that they're going to make him the head coach for next year.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
And that's why, if that happens, I'm.
Jason Moore
Pulling an O'Reilly pump the brakes on that news.
Andy Holloway
Okay, but I'm not. I'm saying if that happens, how does that affect your prognostication of Sammy Watkins becoming the great.
Jason Moore
I still believe, even with that, I still believe that it is very much a benefit for Sammy Watkins because you're having an offensive guy take over the head coaching system. It's not going to be about defense and running. He was being an offensive coordinator under a head coach that wanted to be a defense and running team. And he was, you know, following the orders top down. Now he's going to be giving them. And he's an offensive guy. I think in today's NFL, you've got to be able to pass the ball better and, you know, than what Buffalo's done. You just look at attempts, Right. Just look at passing attempts and you could see that there is a huge room for improvement in Buffalo's offense. If they hire a head coach that's an offensive guy, I expect it to happen, even just to get to the middle of the pack.
Mike Wright
But what if it's EJ Manuel as the quarterback? How does that do for your Sammy Watkins love?
Jason Moore
I jump off the burning ship.
Mike Wright
Okay, that's good.
Andy Holloway
All right. Cameron Brait's on IR. He's not playing week 17. Melvin Gordon's a game time decision in week 17. Ryan Fitzpatrick and E.J. manuel are starters for 17. Yeah, well, with Ryan Fitzpatrick's career, every game he plays is a revenge game. He's played for seven teams. Rex Ryan, we talked about him being fired. Mike Tomlinson says that Big Ben, Lev Bell, Antonio Brown might not play in week 17. That welcome to week 17, everybody.
Mike Wright
Big Ben has come out and said he does not want to play. He wants to rest up. Antonio Brown, on the other hand, is trying to get in the game. And I would not expect. I think Ben will sit. It's going to be Landry Jones to me. Antonio Brown may see the field, but he's not playing a full game. I don't know how you can trust him for fantasy football.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Mark Sanchez is going to be activated as Dak Prescott's backup for week 17. I mean, Jason already said that, you know, Dak's gonna play the whole game. Even though yesterday I told him, of course he's not going to.
Jason Moore
Well, I will early concede that it looks like that's not gonna happen. What my point was was that they cannot ever. No, this was the argument I made. They cannot ever put Tony Romo in that game.
Andy Holloway
Well, you also made the argument that Dak would play the whole game.
Jason Moore
Yes. Because his backup can't play.
Andy Holloway
I said on the show yesterday Mark Sanchez would be the backup and be the one playing in the game. And you were not Tony Romo.
Jason Moore
And you're going to be right, not me.
Andy Holloway
I love all these Dallas bets. They're, you know, 12 carries for Zeke. But that was not my point.
Mike Wright
Also, why are they not playing Romo.
Jason Moore
The ESPN Giants reporter, Jordan ran and believes that Ben McAdoo is going to play his starters in week 17. They don't have anything to play for other than crushing the hopes and dreams of Washington. It's tough.
Andy Holloway
I want to share this. It's a concise way to think about Week 17 and the teams that are not motivated and motivated to play. Mike, tell me where you got this.
Mike Wright
This is Matt Camp.
Andy Holloway
Matt Camp, Okay. He put out a chart that shows the motivation of the teams in the hunt out of the hunt. So you have Dallas, who has no motivation. Right. They cannot change or move. Neither can the Giants, who you just brought up. Although they seem to be willing to play. Their motivation could be argued.
Mike Wright
We'll see.
Andy Holloway
You could argue that their motivation would be to stop Washington from making the playoffs.
Mike Wright
Their motivation is going to be not get hurt.
Andy Holloway
Seattle And Atlanta are both motivated for the number two seed. Green Bay and Detroit could both miss the playoffs. Right. Because if Washington wins and Green Bay or Detroit loses, you have a situation now is Green Bay has not clinched. Right.
Mike Wright
Green Bay, I think Green Bay has clinched the playoffs.
Andy Holloway
Have they? Yeah, they have the tiebreaker over Washington.
Mike Wright
They're playing for the division. Right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, you're right. They have the tiebreaker over Washington. So. But what's, what's crazy if Washington loses earlier in the day, Detroit will not be motivated other than winning the division battle.
Mike Wright
Right, Correct. And I think there's. There's actually a situation where is this talk about Detroit can get the number two seed still.
Andy Holloway
It does not say that in this chart.
Mike Wright
Okay, I misread it.
Andy Holloway
So Detroit, Tampa still has a punchers chance. Not even that.
Mike Wright
Oh, no, they're out.
Andy Holloway
Washington's obviously motivated. On the other side, New England and Oakland can both still be the number one seed. So they're motivated for, you know, getting the number two seed. Oakland could lose the number two seed to Kansas City. So Kansas City's motivated for that two seed. Obviously the one and two get a buy. Miami, they clinch the playoffs, but the number five or number six seeds up for grabs for them. The only teams with no motivation on the afc, Pittsburgh and Houston. Okay, so that's why you have left Bell, Antonio Brown.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
That situation in Houston, I mean, who you're starting.
Jason Moore
Yeah, they're. They're resting all their guys all week.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's see what you got in store, Mike.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
I want to play the game.
Andy Holloway
This is David Johnson themed.
Mike Wright
I just. I just wanted to take a minute because there are some of us. Well, some of the foot clean. We're listening right now. We're celebrating a victory and you just want to celebrate the greatness that was David Johnson's season.
Andy Holloway
Who?
Jason Moore
David Johnson.
Andy Holloway
All right, go for it.
Mike Wright
And you take, take a look at what he has done with 77 receptions. David Johnson was giving you running back one numbers and wide receiver one. Two numbers in the.
Andy Holloway
All at the same time simultaneously.
Mike Wright
So I wanted to play a game of who has more receptions. David Johnson or wide receiver X.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
All right. So for context out there, David Johnson, 77 receptions. All right, so far we're through week 16. Emmanuel Sanders more or less than David Johnson.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to go more.
Jason Moore
I am as well.
Mike Wright
79. He has two more. Two more receptions.
Andy Holloway
Interesting.
Mike Wright
Than David Johnson.
Jason Moore
Pierre. That's surprising.
Andy Holloway
Pierre Garcon.
Mike Wright
Pierre Garcon.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to say Garcon's right around 75. So I'm going to say last.
Jason Moore
He started so slow. He's been hot lately. I'm going to go under as well.
Mike Wright
You. You hit it on the head, Andy.
Andy Holloway
75. All right.
Mike Wright
75. My man. My man. You know, I got the. You know, I got the infection.
Andy Holloway
Bezels.
Mike Wright
Cole Beasley. Over or under 77 receptions for Cole.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to say over. I think. I think Beasles is right at.
Jason Moore
I'm going to go under. I'm going to go under.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to say same. Same amount.
Mike Wright
72.
Andy Holloway
He's under. David.
Mike Wright
He's a little bit under. Brandon Cooks.
Andy Holloway
Oh, that's an under.
Mike Wright
That's an under weapon for the New Orleans Saints.
Andy Holloway
Weapon. He's an under.
Jason Moore
I'm going to go under as well.
Mike Wright
75. David Johnson. That is more receptive than Brandon Cooks. Just have a couple more in here.
Andy Holloway
Go for it.
Mike Wright
Devonte Adams, the Limburger. Sometimes the sharp cheddar.
Jason Moore
He's too efficient. I'm. I'm taking the under.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, me too.
Mike Wright
You are both correct. He has the lowest reception 69 of anyone we've talked about yet today. All right, what do we got, two more names here. Golden Tate. Golden Tate or.
Jason Moore
I'm going to take the over on Golden Tate because.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yeah, I'll take the under because of the start of his season.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it was a bad start. 84.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he's come on strong. Amari Cooper.
Jason Moore
Oh, I got to take the under there.
Mike Wright
I think Cooper's over 78. He has one more reception to David Johnson. And the final name on this list. DeAndre Hopkins.
Andy Holloway
That's a. Come on.
Jason Moore
That's a home run. That's got to be under. Just to close out a game with saying that David Johnson has more receptions than DeAndre Hopkins.
Mike Wright
I like the thought process, but am I wrong? Well, Andy hasn't given his answer.
Andy Holloway
I think Hopkins is under.
Mike Wright
He is under. He has 71 receptions.
Jason Moore
David Johnson.
Andy Holloway
Congratulations. David Johnson.
Jason Moore
I think you saw a stat yesterday that. I don't know if it was in ppr. Maybe it was in ppr, but that David Johnson.
Mike Wright
Yes. Yeah, I was looking up just how dominant was David Johnson.
Jason Moore
He has double the points of the running back. 12. That's a running back one. So in one of your spots, you had two running back ones playing every single.
Andy Holloway
All right, we're hopping into the mailbag. Before we do that, I want to thank today's sponsor, great friends of the show, pristineauction.com. look, we were there yesterday picking up three items for the new studio. Mike snagged a signed Lev Bell jersey.
Mike Wright
You're darn right.
Andy Holloway
For like 45 bucks.
Mike Wright
Hey, sometimes you can win, man. It's an auction system.
Andy Holloway
He got a throwback Mike Evans mini helmet signed and a Kevin White mini helmet signed. Snagged all three of them.
Mike Wright
Struck early on. Kevin White. People are sleeping. People are sleeping on camera. Look, there's, there's some memorabilia for these up and comers.
Andy Holloway
Oh, you got to go. Yeah, yeah. You got to take that fantasy approach to the. The long term. Dynasty.
Mike Wright
It's like dynasty. You pick up a player early, you pick up his gear early because he's going to blow up next year.
Andy Holloway
You want the classics. I looked this morning. Signed Jerry Rice full size. Helme on there with three time super bowl champ. Signed Troy Aikman jersey. Jason Moore
Huh?
Andy Holloway
What did I say?
Jason Moore
Said that you can leave us a voicemail hotline.
Andy Holloway
I did say that.
Jason Moore
You sure did.
Andy Holloway
Well, that's bad English.
Jason Moore
All right, I'm used to it.
Andy Holloway
I don't know how you recognize that. All right, question.
Mike Wright
Bad recruit. My joke failed when I'm trying to slam him.
Andy Holloway
Reset that correction question from armand in Glendale, California last night, I guess this was two nights ago. Lost 144.18 to 144.80 because of a Stafford fumble and 0.8 points from Jeremy Hill the day before. Is there any reason to hold out, hold out hope for a stat correction that may help me? Well, look, I. Look, you're going to hold out hope if you're under a point.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
At any time.
Jason Moore
That's the threshold you should absolutely be holding out. Hopefully Thursday is the day that the final stack corrections come through usually in most systems. And so that means.
Andy Holloway
And what you're really looking for. Sorry Jason, go ahead and finish.
Jason Moore
No, I was just going to say usually when guys are stat corrected it's worth a point.
Andy Holloway
And so I have been OCD on this before where I am in that situation that you're in and I'll tell you exactly what I look for. I take my defense, right. My defense and the opponent's defense because these are the most likely situations where you're going to get a stat correction and I go through and I look, I've done this before play by play in the box score and I've looked to see if there was a sack or a rush for zero yards because those a rush can be converted to a sack if they determine that the quarterback was behind the line of scrimmage and that is a one point adjustment or vice versa. If they determine it wasn't a sack because he was beyond the line of scrimmage, gone through and hoped and found one time, one where the next day that exact thing happened. So that is what you're hoping for.
Mike Wright
You also had the Spencer where last week where Spencer where he lost a yard. I Believe it was. And we got quite a few tweets for people saying, stack corrected to the championship. So it's. Hope floats, man.
Andy Holloway
I like that. I like that. All right, at JBush 21, 21 says he has one right receiver, two running backs, and one flex spot to fill for this week's game in a PPR league. You got Mike Wallace, you got Time Montgomery, you got Dixon, Stewart, and the Crow. Who do you have? Well, I'm locking. I'm going to go ahead and lock the Crow in there after last week's.
Mike Wright
Performance, I'm going to lock Dixon in. In a PPR situation at a running.
Andy Holloway
Back there and then basically.
Mike Wright
This was bench one guy, right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah, this was basically bench one guy. I'm gonna. I'm gonna bench. I'm gonna bench Wallace.
Mike Wright
Yeah, okay, That's.
Andy Holloway
I'm gonna play J stuff, man.
Mike Wright
In a ppr. Yeah, in a full ppr, I'm gonna bench Stuart.
Jason Moore
I. I'm. I'm gonna. I'm gonna stick with Andy's on this one. I think in a full ppr, I would still benchmark Mike Wallace over those other guys. I like Stewart. I like Crow. I like Dixon. I like Montgomery.
Andy Holloway
All right, interesting question from Nicodemus in Wisconsin. Nicodemus by night.
Mike Wright
Is this from the Secret of Nim?
Andy Holloway
No. No. All right.
Mike Wright
Have you seen the Secret of Nim?
Andy Holloway
No, I just. Mine's a biblical reference for Nicodemus.
Mike Wright
Okay, that's fine. But have you seen.
Andy Holloway
This is spelled differently, though.
Jason Moore
Have not.
Mike Wright
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Jason Moore
I have not.
Andy Holloway
No, me neither. This is the. That's the lead there.
Mike Wright
Yes. Is that. If you have seen the Secret of Nim. It is the lead, you guys.
Jason Moore
If you haven't seen it, it means nothing.
Mike Wright
Oh, my gosh. Foot clan. Foot clan assembled.
Andy Holloway
There'll be some.
Mike Wright
Let them know that the Secret of Nim. That was. Dude, the childhood cartoon. The secret.
Andy Holloway
I asked the question.
Mike Wright
No, we.
Jason Moore
What is the Secret of Dim?
Mike Wright
It's a. It's a cartoon.
Andy Holloway
Maybe I have seen it.
Mike Wright
It's a Don Bloom cartoon. The guy who made Dragons Lair, and it's about the. The mice that come to life.
Andy Holloway
I've probably seen it.
Mike Wright
It was terrifying.
Jason Moore
Not the one with the witches, right?
Mike Wright
I don't think there's witches involved in the security.
Jason Moore
That was called Witches.
Mike Wright
The Roald Dahl story.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's Nicodemus.
Mike Wright
The guy with the eyes.
Jason Moore
The guy with the eyes.
Mike Wright
The guy with the cr.
Jason Moore
There he is with the big old beard. Crazy eyes, and we're past Sorry.
Mike Wright
Go. Moving on.
Andy Holloway
In a money league, the person who won the championship started Marcus Mariota because he had Bell and David Johnson. We're in an auction draft league. How do I prevent this from happening next year? Well, you know, we can listen to the show to start and know which guys to bid on. I mean, letting him have Bell and David Johnson, this happened. This would not have happened in a normal next year if Bell isn't suspended. This doesn't happen. This happened because he got Lev Bell on the cheek.
Mike Wright
What are the chances Bell has the suspension next year?
Andy Holloway
50. 50. But. But look, this happened. We played in a sleeper wire league, and this is the approach I took. I drafted David Johnson with my first pick. I drafted Lashawn McCoy with, I think my third pick. And then my second pick I spent on love Bell.
Mike Wright
I don't know why you went 1, 3, 2.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Because I. At first I thought that I took McCoy in the second round, but it was. But the point is, is you got to stack those superstars because of the suspense.
Mike Wright
It also sounds to me like this league wins. They swung that pendulum and they said we're going wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Mike Wright
The running backs are letting us down. Their failures. We need all the wide receivers because they're so safe and that apparently you.
Andy Holloway
Can stream injured quarterbacks and win this league.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah, of course you can, but. And that kind of just leads me to the point of next year. Wait for the pendulum. It's going back.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Don't swing so far that you're gonna blow all your money on two stud running backs thinking that's the only way you win a championship.
Mike Wright
Be in the middle. We talk about being water zigging while people are zagging. So he probably got those guys cheaper than he should have. While people are throwing all their money to the wide receivers.
Andy Holloway
Cody in Indianapolis, do I trust Stafford, who had a monster game against Green Bay earlier this year? Obviously those two teams playing for something new. 31 in his league, you know, early in the year, and that was in Green Bay. Or do I start Kaepernick against Seattle? Who needs to win for the 2 seed? I start Matt Stafford.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's not. That's not close to me.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, not for me either.
Mike Wright
It's closer for me. Matt Stafford with the. With the bum finger is a. Is a bum fantasy quarterback.
Jason Moore
Seattle needs that win, and Seattle's really good. And Kaepernick is not good. Those things combine with those forces combined. I'm going to take Stafford against a bad secondary.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, no doubt about it.
Mike Wright
Yeah. I understand the logic. I'm just saying that Stafford has notoriously let people down in December. Now he has a finger that does not work, and that finger is on his throwing hand.
Jason Moore
That's true. And he hasn't been the same since that finger injury. But if you're. I can tell you right now, in my rankings when I. When I published them later today, there's no way Matt Stafford is behind Colin Kaepernick against Seattle.
Andy Holloway
Are they. Are they coming out on hardback?
Jason Moore
Yes. Yes. You can get them at a local Safeway.
Mike Wright
Matt Stafford, in our league the last two weeks, 12.8 and 15.2.
Jason Moore
Isn't that.
Andy Holloway
I'm starting Matthew Stafford.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
I'm starting Matthew Stafford. Are you starting Matthew Stafford?
Mike Wright
I.
Jason Moore
And he's got his finger over a water.
Mike Wright
I haven't completed my rankings. But if you want to make that bet, I mean, I. I would take. As of right now, I would take Kaepernick over Stafford to the.
Andy Holloway
I'm not going to bet you if you're not wanting to make the bet.
Mike Wright
Well, we got to make the bet.
Jason Moore
Water bet.
Andy Holloway
I wonder if it's been too long since we told people what a water bet was.
Jason Moore
Here, here, let me.
Mike Wright
Could be.
Jason Moore
Yeah, go ahead and say that, and then I'll. And then I'll chime in.
Andy Holloway
Well, we make water bets on the show, but that's all based around the water bet app that we have. It's just a free app. Makes it fun to bet one another on frivolous things. And you spin the wheel of water, and there are about 20 different ways to get doused with a cup of water, and they're fine. And you can. You can send them to us on Twitter. We'll retweet them. They're fun to watch.
Mike Wright
It's always fun in the middle of winter watching these people go out in.
Andy Holloway
The snow and water dumped on wheel of watercolor.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So I know you guys love when I take people's questions and answer them with something that isn't in their question.
Mike Wright
We do.
Jason Moore
No, I'm saying Secret of Nam. You don't start. Aaron Rodgers.
Mike Wright
Oh. Oh, yes. Okay.
Jason Moore
However would you guys. So the reason that I choose Stafford over Kaepernick isn't because of my love of Stafford. It's because I think Kaepernick is going to have a really bad game against Seattle. All right. All that said, would you rather have Matthew Stafford or a guy that is almost certainly available? Blake Bortles, Indianapolis.
Andy Holloway
I'll take Bortles.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I Think I'll take Bortles too.
Jason Moore
So just throwing that out. There is another option.
Andy Holloway
All right, Justin and Marquette, who do you think will be the first tight end off the board and where will they be taken in 2017?
Jason Moore
I can tell you right now, it's going to be Gronk.
Mike Wright
It depends on Gronkowski's health.
Jason Moore
It doesn't.
Andy Holloway
It's going to be Gronkowski.
Mike Wright
It depends on his health. If we have the year where you're going up into draft season and you don't even know if he's going to be on the PUP list or not, I will.
Andy Holloway
I would agree with you if Jordan Reed had had a great season or wasn't dealing with injuries or if Travis Kelsey. I don't know if it's Travis Kelsey.
Jason Moore
I think it'll be Gronk, but I think it's going to be pushed back this year. I mean, usually Gronk is more of a second round pick. This year he was the first round. Yeah, he's.
Mike Wright
People take him in the first and so I think.
Jason Moore
But I'm saying this coming year he'll be solid in the second round. Not a solid pick. I'm saying that's where his average draft position will be.
Andy Holloway
James in Pennsylvania wants to know. He says. Hey, ballers, what is your order for these running backs in Week 17 in a PPR league? Fitzgerald Toussaint, Tevin Coleman to quiz Rogers.
Mike Wright
Thanks.
Andy Holloway
Bunches from James.
Mike Wright
Ooh. So.
Andy Holloway
So PPR league.
Mike Wright
Coleman Rogers and Cheryl Toussaint.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I am going to take. I think I'm going to go Rogers, Coleman, Toussaint.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's. That's what came into my head as well.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that was my first instinct as well. Coleman, I believe, is at home.
Andy Holloway
It's like the volume of Jacquiz. That's the only reason I take over.
Mike Wright
Coleman and he's been great. Yeah, he's been very efficient as the starter for the team.
Jason Moore
There you go.
Andy Holloway
Here's a keeper league question from Mike in Philadelphia. Apparently everybody's in Pennsylvania today. In my keeper league, you can keep up to three players losing the pick in the round where they were drafted. Oh, man. Getting a question like this. Keepers, fun. You cannot keep a player for more than five years. I'm undoubtedly keep five years.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's a long time.
Andy Holloway
Undoubtedly. Keeping Le'Veon Bell again in the third round with the remaining two spots. With the remaining two spots, I am deciding between Andrew Luck in the seventh, Doug Martin in the ninth, Eddie Lacy in the 10th, and Kenneth Dixon in the 14th. Ding, ding, ding. We have to decide by the super bowl, making Lacy and Martin risky.
Mike Wright
What?
Andy Holloway
Which two players would you like? I like that.
Jason Moore
I do too.
Andy Holloway
I have no problem.
Jason Moore
I mean, so long as it's universal for everyone in the league.
Andy Holloway
If you're going to reward people indefinitely with the round they drafted those guys, then make them make the decision by Super Bowl. I love it.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's, that's.
Andy Holloway
But I'm keeping Kenneth Dixon for basically free here.
Mike Wright
I will as well.
Andy Holloway
And then the other decision's tough. I mean, I probably am going to keep.
Mike Wright
I'm going to keep Luck in the seventh.
Jason Moore
I agree. I don't usually like to keep a quarterback, but you know, Luck's going to be around.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm cool with that.
Jason Moore
7Th round value is absolutely fine. If he was available in the seventh in most years, I'm probably seventh.
Mike Wright
Is Doug Martin on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next year?
Andy Holloway
I've already said I don't think so on yesterday's show. I think I said it was about a 5% chance in my opinion.
Mike Wright
So that's in.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to up that to 10 though.
Mike Wright
The in the ninth, I believe is what was said. But you just, you have no idea where he's going to be.
Andy Holloway
It was the same with Eddie Lacy, both him and Lacey. If the gap was different, if those two guys were 16th round picks, I might take a shot with.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
Probably Dougie, you know, if you're alternating good year, bad year, like you said. All right, so let's move on to Stephen in Indiana. Who says who's a better keeper for next year? Todd Gurley, Keenan Allen or demarius Thomas is a PPR league.
Mike Wright
Man.
Andy Holloway
That's a tough question because you want like all things being equal, no injuries, no history, it's Keenan Allen in a PPR league.
Mike Wright
I'm going to stick.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to stick with Gurley in this. In Mike, I'm going to go with Gurley.
Mike Wright
I'm going to go with Keenan Allen.
Jason Moore
I think I'm going to go Keenan Allen here as well. Gurley is certainly tempting. Just you have. Honestly, part of it is might be the coach that comes in. If there's a coach I really believe in coming in to la, then I. Then I might lean to keep Todd Gurley. I usually prefer running back over a wide receiver as a tiebreaker. You know, if Kyle Shanahan comes in, Gruden, that's interesting.
Mike Wright
If Kyle Shanahan became the head coach of the Rams, that would be Very interesting for Gurley McDaniels. Yeah, I don't know. He.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I wouldn't. He wouldn't sway me as much.
Mike Wright
Shanahan's more. Shanahan's running system is more interesting to me.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Jason Moore
Yeah, there you go. But, yeah, otherwise it's Keenan angel in Phoenix.
Andy Holloway
I wonder if this is the oa. Oh, this is the oa, the original. What is the best way to select the draft order this off season? Should I do a lottery from 12 to 1, question mark?
Jason Moore
There's a lot of different ways to select draft order. Most leagues are going to do something.
Andy Holloway
Based on previous results of the last year.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So.
Mike Wright
But if it's a redraft, did they say if there's a keeper or a redraft? No, if it's redraft, I mean, it's no holds barred. It's. It's whatever. Right?
Jason Moore
Right.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
You can do anything. You can make it a go to a putt putt and do mini golf. And whoever wins gets to pick where they draft.
Mike Wright
March bracket.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I like things like that. If it is a true full redraft or I like saying, hey, the guy that won, you know, gets the first pick because not. Not pick number one. But they get to choose where they pick because here's the reality. In a Snake draft, full redraft, there is no guaranteed best spot to draft. You know, you could say, oh, I definitely want a top three pick. And you might say, oh, I don't want to be that far away from my number two. So. So there's no clear advantage. So have fun with it, is what we're saying.
Andy Holloway
All right. Dolphins, Dolphin, Elmhurst, Illinois says thank you for the great advice. This year I won a hashtag foot clan title with only two players that I originally drafted.
Jason Moore
Nice.
Andy Holloway
Looking for a keeper next year. You see, the players you drafted, though, clearly had enough value to net you a bunch of stuff. Looking for a keeper next year. Is it Prior Devonte Adams or Kenneth Dixon? What do you think?
Jason Moore
Ooh, I think of those three PPR league right off the top of the dome. I feel like keeping Kenneth Dixon. Dixon, yeah, probably.
Andy Holloway
I am facing the situation. It's funny. Dixon's been brought up twice. I'm. I have our league of record. I have Andrew Luck, who you brought up earlier as a keeper, and I have Kenneth Dixon, Mark Ingram, couple guys to decide from. I really want Dixon to be that guy. I can. I can jump behind and you know that they'll commit to the run there. He can catch the Ball kind of be what four set was two years ago.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
It's hard for me to say no to Prior here as well. I just don't know if he's where.
Jason Moore
He'S going to be.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. If he's back. So I don't think Adams is in consideration for me. I'll put it that way. So I'll. Right now, I'll go Dixon Pryor.
Mike Wright
I would go Dixon, Adams, prior. What is.
Andy Holloway
Oh, he put devonte Adams face down on the desk.
Jason Moore
I'm actually. I am with you, Mike. I think I go Dixon, Adams, Prior.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Jason Moore
Depending on when you have to select it. You can't select Prior right now because you don't know what team he's going to be on. You don't know what quarterback he's going to have. The only thing you're going off of is talent. And opportunity is king in fantasy football. Devonte Adams, you know, he's catching calls from Aaron Rodgers, which is.
Andy Holloway
You don't know if Dixon will have west or other.
Jason Moore
That's true.
Andy Holloway
Draft somebody.
Jason Moore
I mean, Adams seems to be the safest of the three picks.
Andy Holloway
You know, Adams reminds me of small departure here. I feel like him, he must be best friends with Jordan Matthews. I feel like they are best friends. They are both temperamental performers in fantasy football and on the actual football field. Sometimes great catch, sometimes horrible drop.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
Both of them have gone up and down in people's minds. I consider them to be very, very similar.
Mike Wright
Not too shabby. Not too shabby.
Andy Holloway
Not necessarily like play style. Just. Yeah. Temperamental performance. Sorry. Gabor in Budapest, Hungary.
Jason Moore
Oh, bonjour.
Andy Holloway
You guys know I'm Hungarian?
Jason Moore
I did not know.
Andy Holloway
Did you know?
Mike Wright
Did you know that I'm Hungary?
Andy Holloway
You're a country. Cool. Hey, guys. I got my hashtag Foot Clan title thanks to you. Before the championship game, I picked up Martavis Bryant from the waiver wire. So that means I could have him next year with a last round pick. Lev Bell's my other keeper and no good. No other good running backs that I want to keep. Is that a good stash or do I go with Malcolm Mitchell as a last round pick as well? Thank you for your help. It was my first season with you. Definitely going to stick with you. Well, that's a great question. In a standard league, would you rather have Martavis returning from suspension and all the risk that is associated with him or Malcolm Mitchell, is he going to come into his own? You've got a lot of mouths to feed in the set in the wide receiver core There in New England, I'm.
Jason Moore
This easy for me.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I know what you're going to say then when you say it's easy. You go with Malcolm Mitchell.
Jason Moore
You're darn right I do. Because if you think for one second that I trust that Martavis Bryant's going to stop doing what gets him suspended after every other opportunity, just like Johnny Manziel had opportunities and just like Justin Blackman had opportunities and Josh Gordon had.
Andy Holloway
Tyrone Matthew did Tyrone Matthew.
Jason Moore
No, no, no. Tyrone Matthew never got to the.
Mike Wright
He never.
Jason Moore
Not in the NFL of repeat offenses where it's like at that point when you keep doing it after, okay, you've been suspended once, you've been warned, then you've been suspended, then you've been suspended 10 games now you're out indefinitely. It's going to happen again is the way I see it.
Andy Holloway
If you told me that he's not going to get suspended again.
Jason Moore
Never again. Never again.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's easy. That's Martavis.
Jason Moore
But.
Andy Holloway
So you can wait. Wait as long as you can.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Well, the thing is right now you don't know if Martavis Bryant's playing next year. He's suspended indefinitely.
Andy Holloway
You're right. You're right.
Mike Wright
That doesn't. It's not a one year suspension, it's an indefinite suspension.
Andy Holloway
So that makes it.
Jason Moore
Malcolm, do you know how many leagues mfl 10 style leagues like where you where the best ball, you draft and you don't make roster moves. You know how many leagues that I had Josh Gordon in? Yeah, a lot of leagues because there was the temptation that he was going to come back. But when a guy has 10 strikes, why do you think he's not going to get an 11th?
Andy Holloway
The real story here, and this is how you make decisions in the future for a lot of things. If your option was Alan Hearns or Martavis Bryant, you might take the shot in the dark. But your option here is a pretty good option. Malcolm Mitchell's a good option to have.
Jason Moore
A rookie with Tom Brady who's coming on hot.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, coming on hot. Except for last week when you lost that bet. All right, sleeper bus question from Jake in Washington right now. Who's next season's fantasy. Oh, who in next season's fantasy draft will be an overrated player going in the first and second round?
Mike Wright
Melvin Gordon.
Andy Holloway
And what people will, what player will people overlook that will help us win games? So you want us to make a really early call on the underrated. Overrated. I think you said Melvin Gordon earlier. I'm going to Say Jai. I think he'll be overdrafted.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
In terms of underdrafted, I'm going to double down. Who are you going with?
Mike Wright
Alan Robinson.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Mike Wright
Alan is going to get buried.
Andy Holloway
That's great. I think Allen Robinson is a great pick. There are players that you have to look at that either disappointed towards the end of the year or consistently, you know, DeAndre Hopkins comes to mind. Obviously he could. He could drop down the list quite a bit. I'm trying to think of some other names.
Jason Moore
I'm very interested to see what the guy that's most interesting to see what happens because he could either be overrated or underrated next year. But my guess is that he might be underrated and that's Lashawn McCoy. Fair.
Mike Wright
People think. Well, he's.
Jason Moore
There are certain guys that get underrated every year, right. Frank Gore every year.
Mike Wright
Is he going to start getting the old running back treatment?
Jason Moore
Exactly.
Andy Holloway
I don't think he will.
Jason Moore
And if he doesn't, then great. But I'm just saying, if you think, oh, he's old, there's a change in the offense. He's not going to have the season he had last year. I'm going to be picking him up in that second round, happily in that third round if he drops there.
Andy Holloway
You guys all in on Stephen Jackson next year?
Jason Moore
Oh, of course, man. The predator.
Andy Holloway
Predator. I'm looking at some names. I'm looking at some names here. I wonder, you know, Devonta Freeman, probably. Probably not in that consideration. But you just wonder if Coleman didn't get hurt this year, whether the numbers would be there.
Mike Wright
Spencer Ware, where is interesting with.
Andy Holloway
He could get underdrafted if Charles leaves.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Not seeing a ton of. I'm sure Mike will take Ryan Matthews a little too high again.
Mike Wright
Well, Ryan Matthews with his herniated disc in his back, which I don't even know if we've really talked about that, but that's. It's a pretty serious injury where we have to see if he's even going to be ready to start the year.
Andy Holloway
Get ready for. I think Robert Kelly be overdrafted.
Mike Wright
Very possible.
Jason Moore
I think Latavius Murray will be underdrafted.
Mike Wright
Hmm.
Andy Holloway
Interesting. We have a few.
Jason Moore
Latavius Murray next year.
Andy Holloway
We have a few months to discuss it.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Is there any questions for this current week? I got one here from Xander Lexio. Need big Week 17 championship comebacks are looking for a Megalodon upside. All right, we got a few in here. Ertz or Olson.
Andy Holloway
Okay. The Megalodon upside falls on the Olsen side for Me.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
For me as well.
Jason Moore
I would agree.
Andy Holloway
And then he also threw in Montgomery or Crowell this week, and that.
Jason Moore
I think you got to go. Crowell. Montgomery. He has a great chance of getting.
Mike Wright
I'm going, Monty.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm going to go. I'm going to go. Monty, too. Other than last week, other than last week's performance by Crowell, I don't believe he had a game over 13 points for the entire week, the entire year, since week four. So you talk about upside. I think Monty has more of it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I'm switching.
Andy Holloway
You're switching? I am making a change.
Jason Moore
Well, I'll say the honest reason when you said Montgomery, and I was about to, I was already defending. My point of why I would choose Crowell is because I heard and interpreted in my brain, Moncrief. And I was going to say he's.
Mike Wright
He's probably not good.
Jason Moore
Oh, Moncrief. And I was going to say, you know, the upside isn't there for total yards for a guy and for a.
Mike Wright
Guy who may or may not play.
Jason Moore
Yeah. But no, Monty. Monty's better.
Mike Wright
A lot of downside.
Andy Holloway
Last question. J. Shipley, why, if we give ppr so point per reception, why don't we give points per carry?
Jason Moore
Some leagues do. In fact, our league of record, we give 0.1 points per carry. So it is something that.
Mike Wright
That certainly does happen.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I mean, it's just one of those things where you just have to balance it. I don't mind giving a point per carry. I mean, not a point. I mean, I don't mind giving some. Something attributed to carries. I wouldn't do a point, though.
Mike Wright
You know, we've had questions coming in before where people are saying, I play in a PPR and a point per carry. And you were like, holy crap. You have to have David Johnson or Le'Veon Bell on your team.
Jason Moore
Zeke, some guy that's just getting the work.
Andy Holloway
The whole point about zeke only gets 12 a game. 12 carries.
Jason Moore
How many? The only point of, like, should we reward carries or catches or any of this thing? Andy nailed it. It's just about balance. You want to try to balance these players in these positions among themselves to where there's a. There's a good amount where when you look at flex, you don't go, I have to draft all the blank position.
Andy Holloway
And when you say we give a point per reception, we don't. Our preferred scoring format is a half point per reception because of the balance argument that Jason just made.
