Andy Holloway
Oh, Jason's playing the guitar.
Mike Wright
Wow, you're a lefty. That's a lefty guitar you had there.
Jason Moore
Well, I sure am left handed. Most geniuses are probably why you die.
Andy Holloway
Earlier than everybody else.
Mike Wright
Yeah, you left.
Jason Moore
I think that's due to my fat in the heart region due to poor eating habits. Speaking of poor eating habits. Hi, everybody. Welcome to the show. I'm your host, Jason Moore. With me are Andy Holloway and Mike. Well, I wanted to. I just wanted to hop into a story and I realized I was cutting off you, the host.
Mike Wright
I thought if you're going to talk poor eating habits. I thought Lacey was coming up.
Jason Moore
No, I was actually bringing up the bet that I made last week that the Bears would be a terrible defense to play. And while I. While I believe I said that they would not be top eight or nine and they weren't listening. Look, they scored a touchdown. And they were good enough to play double digits. I'm a man of honor, of valor. This week I am at lunch. Mike is picking my meal every day.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
So maybe I will eat healthy for once or maybe even worse than normal. It's really not my control.
Mike Wright
Yesterday, Mike started off slow.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Went with hot wings because Jason doesn't normally get hot.
Mike Wright
But Jason likes the drumsticks.
Andy Holloway
Yes. So I gave him all wings.
Jason Moore
All wings.
Andy Holloway
So most people are like, well, that doesn't really matter. Oh, it matters.
Mike Wright
It mattered because Mike got all drumsticks right next to him.
Jason Moore
The funny thing was, is, like, I can't take too much heat. Okay. I'm a. You know, I'm not the strongest. Toughest in the room. And so he orders the hot. And it was delicious.
Mike Wright
Thank you, Mike.
Jason Moore
Thank you. It was really, really good.
Mike Wright
You got to Step it up today, Mike. Welcome to the fantasy footballers podcast. It's waiver day. Yeah, it's waiver day. We're going through the big names. Look, this is the time of the year in which the strategic decisions you make start to become week to week based. A lot of the times where you're looking at these matchups and you're able to make maybe the way that you define a great waiver wire pickup now comes down to schedule more than it does just who scored a lot of points last week. And so we're going to get into all the big names and tell you who we think you can buy into, who's worth spending your waiver wire spot on, your fab dollars on. We're going to get into all of that. We also have full stream ahead on the show today. And so we're going to give you our streaming quarterback picks of the week. Very excited about that. And I have a good quick question for you guys today. I'm curious how many clues it will take for you to ascertain the fantasy player involved, but we're going to get into that. Let's do that right now. So this is eight. This is a who, a who am I question. All right.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
Andrew Holloway.
Andy Holloway
Well, okay, we went. Nailed it. I love Michael.
Mike Wright
Yeah. So it's a who am I question. I'm gonna give you a clue at a time. All right? So clue number one. I'm the. I'm the RB12 in half point per reception scoring. All right.
Andy Holloway
RB12. Okay.
Mike Wright
All right, I'll give you. I'll give you two to start.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
And then number two, I have two less catches than Devonta Freeman and. And one more than Tevin Coleman.
Andy Holloway
Okay, I have a formulating a guess.
Jason Moore
When. When you said. When you said that you were the RB12. My first guess was Devonta Freeman, so you took that out of my brain when you said so.
Mike Wright
Shot in the dark after two. Just, just give me both of them.
Andy Holloway
Giovanni Bernard.
Mike Wright
Okay, you got Geoffrey. Do you have any guesses yet or you want me to proceed?
Jason Moore
C.J. anderson.
Mike Wright
You are both wrong. Okay, so so far we have. I'm RB12 in half point scoring. Two more catches. Devonta Freeman. One less than or, I'm sorry, one more than Tevin Coleman. Two lessons.
Andy Holloway
Freeman get the clue out first.
Mike Wright
Number three. My team is second in our division, which isn't saying much.
Jason Moore
Oh, yeah, I got it.
Mike Wright
Because we have a losing record and I'm going to give you the last one for fun. I'm often considered an Old man.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
But in fact, Jason and Mike are older than me.
Jason Moore
It is definitely Frank Gore. And the reason it is Frank Gore is because he is. This should have been my first guess. He is always forever running back. Running back 12. When you said, I'm running back 12, I should have gone, oh, it's Frank Gore. He's always. No matter what, no matter if he's playing well, he is the RB12.
Andy Holloway
He's always so good.
Mike Wright
You guys are both older than him. I guess I must be the same age.
Jason Moore
Shut. Shut your mouth. Shut up.
Mike Wright
All right. If you want to follow the show, you can do so on Twitter @ the FF Ballers. Also, you can check out our YouTube. Our YouTube channel. I reposted my farewell.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yes.
Mike Wright
To Arian Foster. We're gonna get into that in a minute. In the news, also, I found it somewhat ironic that this week Miami has a buy. And so when I pulled open espn, it just said Arian Foster buy right next to him.
Jason Moore
It said it twice. It said, Aaron Foster, bye, bye.
Mike Wright
Yeah, so obviously we're going to talk about that here in the news. If you want to join our fantasy community, you can do so@jointhefoot.com. check out everything we got going on over there, including extra episodes, things like that. And check out the website, the fancy footballers.com. my voice is on its last leg. Yeah, you sound like unlike Frank Gore. I caught whatever Jason had that caused him to miss a show.
Jason Moore
I'm a giving man.
Mike Wright
So let's get into the news.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
Oh, yes.
Mike Wright
Carrying Arian. I'm gonna miss you.
Jason Moore
Amen.
Mike Wright
You were my guy through the good times and the injured times.
Jason Moore
A lot of injured times.
Mike Wright
I will never forget what you did to my team when I drafted you in the seventh or eighth round of your first breakout season. I'll never remember how you retired after Ajay stole your job and Damian Williams ran in front of you.
Jason Moore
No, no, no. I'm injured.
Mike Wright
It's so hard to say goodbye.
Andy Holloway
His body has betrayed him.
Jason Moore
Not for me. Goodbye.
Andy Holloway
Oh, you gotta respect Arian Foster.
Jason Moore
No, I do. I love Arian. I guess for me, it was just one of those things where I have loved Aryan for a long time this season. I mean, we knew Andy and I were kind of head to head on this. I never believed that he would be able to stay healthy this season on a new team.
Mike Wright
It's too bad that never was answered. I mean, he just.
Jason Moore
He just left.
Mike Wright
He left before we could know the answer to that question. It's Too bad you got me on that one. So. Oh, the hits just moving on.
Andy Holloway
Hits just keep coming for Andy.
Mike Wright
Joy Bell's been released by Chicago.
Andy Holloway
All your favorite guys leaving the NFL.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's been a rough day.
Andy Holloway
If breaking news pops out that Gus.
Mike Wright
Bradley is fired and Jeremy Macklin is.
Andy Holloway
Then you send the ambulance to the studio because Andy's going down.
Mike Wright
Joy Bell's gone. Not a big story for fantasy owners. Dan Quinn said Monday the Falcons are bracing for Tevin Coleman's hamstring injury to cost him a decent amount of time. We know he will not play in week eight almost certainly. And so now you're talking about how long, how good does this make Devonta Freeman?
Jason Moore
Great.
Andy Holloway
Top 5D free. It's going to be be Nana's.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And just real quick, I wanted to throw out shout out to the Foot Clan. The Twitter was fantastic. As soon as the Arian Foster news broke, like my my Twitter feed was just full of people checking on Andy. They were very concerned about your well being.
Mike Wright
I reposted my this is the third time I was able to use that that video about Goodbye My Lover with Arian Foster.
Jason Moore
The Foot Clan's the best. You guys listening?
Mike Wright
It's ridiculous. Thank you, Bruce. Arians expects John Brown back for week number eight.
Andy Holloway
They need.
Mike Wright
This is good news. If you watched the six six tie, which we did, but maybe you didn't look. The Cardinals had no downfield presence. John Brown tore his acl. John Brown was missing in the game. Michael Floyd is hit and miss or hurt and miss.
Jason Moore
J.J. nelson is a thimble.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that's. I did describe him as a thimble. That's about his size. Ladarius Green's practicing. I don't know how interesting this really is. I think we all want it to be very interesting. I don't know if it is. I don't think Larry Screen comes in with Landry Jones and eventually Roethlisberger and Jesse James and sets the world.
Andy Holloway
Well, it could be. It could be right to Big Ben. The Browns are on or not the Browns. The Steelers are on by. I said the Browns because I the Antonio Browns are on by.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
But the Pittsburgh's on by. So maybe you get that ridiculous Big Ben guy back.
Mike Wright
Yeah, well, we'll see. I mean, I don't know if I would sign him if you couldn't throw him into an IR spot right now.
Andy Holloway
Well, you probably cannot.
Jason Moore
No, I can tell you I would not sign him. Not that there's not potential there, but I'm more concerned with winning this week. At this point in the year, I want to win this week. I would almost rather grab someone to keep away from an opponent than grab a stash. Wait and see. Ladarius Green, who I think his upside is about what I'm going to get most week streaming the position.
Mike Wright
All right, another tight end, Hunter Henry, in the concussion protocol, only had one catch last week.
Andy Holloway
Antonio Gates is back to being the guy.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that happened quickly, but it does. It's often does Delaney.
Andy Holloway
It's good news for the future. Just that Hunter Henry, I think he's a great player, should be fantastic.
Mike Wright
Delaney Walker suffered a bruised chest in Sunday's loss to the Colts, so pay attention to that in the practice reports. Rule 86 may be in full effect this week. Jordan Reed to resume practicing on Wednesday still needs clearance from an independent doctor. And this is the early game on Sunday. So even if you have a waiver.
Andy Holloway
Wire that processes early game.
Mike Wright
Yeah, even if you have a waiver wire that processes only once during the day, like we do at like nine in the morning, you will know about Reed before that process. And so you do have the ability to sign. If you didn't want to fill up a spot on your roster with a flyer tight end, you could always sign one in the morning.
Jason Moore
Well, depending on what time your waivers go through. For instance, on in our league, if you're a West coast person, this is really bad news that they're in the early London game because your waivers might not process until after that game is already starting Sunday morning. So you're going to need.
Mike Wright
That's good.
Jason Moore
How is that good?
Mike Wright
Because then you'll know about Jordan Reed when they're declared before the waivers process. That's good news.
Andy Holloway
I think you're being led astray by the Jordan Reed will be locked, you're saying?
Jason Moore
Yes, if Jordan Reed is locked.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Well, don't put him in your team.
Mike Wright
You're not going to drop Jordan Reed off your team. You can. All your other spots are open. And so as soon as the early game, they declare inactives. You can then sign a player is what I'm saying. And so that gives you the ability to not sign one before Sunday morning if you need to. So it's more flexible for you if you're a West coast person. Ian Rapaport said based on the initial mri, Geno Smith tore his acl. Welcome back. Ryan Fitzpatrick. Gonna talk about him later. Jay Cutler cleared for a return in week eight.
Andy Holloway
Oh, this is Alshon. Jeffrey Magic. The Siegfried and Roy stopped by Chicago. And just poof, all of a sudden, Jay Cutler's healthy and ready to play.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I mean, somebody brought. We didn't talk about the game last night. And, you know, I said a couple things on Twitter. One, I realized I really, really hate squirrely quarterbacks that always throw underneath. Also known as I hate Brock Osweiler. And secondly, he took some shots. And secondly, I said, look, it looks like DeAndre Hopkins may be entering the Larry Fitzgerald.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
And we're talking about years ago when Larry Fitzgerald was in his prime, like DeAndre Hopkins is. Fitzgerald was matched up with anonymous quarterback A, B and C. Whether it was Cobb or Skelton or all these different liner. All these different quarterbacks that could not bring. They were stat sucking quarterbacks for DeAndre, for Larry Fitzgerald. And now DeAndre Hopkins, they're not on the same page at all. And if you watch the game, you see Osweiler and Hopkins. This offense is all based on those, like, double choice routes. So the wide receiver runs a route, they read the defense, and then it's one thing or another thing. There were multiple plays that Hopkins broke in and the ball went out. Or the ball, you know, went in and Hopkins broke out. They're not reading things the same. They're not on the same page. And somebody tweeted me back and said, well, he was fine in the quarterback carousel last year. You know what? Brian Hoyer better than we thought he was.
Andy Holloway
Brian Hoyer just had four straight games of 300 yards.
Mike Wright
That's what I'm saying. He's better than we thought, and he's.
Andy Holloway
Better than the Texans thought.
Mike Wright
Yes. And he could process those things better than Osweather can. And so. And you've just committed $72 million. Now, they probably won't pay him all that.
Andy Holloway
No, no.
Mike Wright
But you've committed a huge amount of money to Osweiler.
Andy Holloway
The. What was strange for me was that they were talking about how the whole signing went on. And my takeaway was they signed him, they agreed to this contract, and they hadn't even really met him right yet. I mean, that's. That's bananas. But back to my favorite part of the game was the play calling. You had, okay, Brock Osweiler, he fakes it to Lamar Miller, he throws it downfield into triple coverage. You're like, yep, there we go.
Mike Wright
I mean, Hopkins has three touchdowns on the year, but he has a week of four catches, one catch, five catches.
Andy Holloway
What do you do? What do you do with.
Mike Wright
He's the 24th ranked fantasy wide receiver and he belongs there.
Jason Moore
People I Was going to say, people ask, is Hopkins a good by low candidate? Generally speaking, wide receivers coming off of Denver are a.
Mike Wright
Still might be a good by low candidate.
Jason Moore
And he is. I mean, what we saw yesterday is not going to be this coming week. They play Detroit. Yeah, he should have a real good matchup this week. However, if you're going to buy him low, you need to realize that his. His world is wide receiver. Two, he is not a wide receiver. One, you're not going out and getting A.J. green. He might have been drafted up there. Yeah, that's just not his first round consistency.
Andy Holloway
He does have a pretty good schedule the rest of the year.
Jason Moore
What's his playoffs?
Andy Holloway
So you. Well, you have Detroit the bye week. Jacksonville, Oakland Chargers, Green Bay, Colts, Jaguars, Bengals. So the playoffs are the Colts, the Jaguars and the Bengals.
Mike Wright
Couple days. A couple days ago, when I saw how depleted the Cardinals SEC wide receiver core was, I was thinking to myself, what wide receivers out there might fit in a trade. You know, you go for broke. And Tory Smith instantly popped into my mind. He barely gets. He barely has any targets in San Francisco. He's just been underutilized. And Then yesterday, the 49ers say they're now open to trading Torrey Smith. I've seen rumors that Philly is very interested in Tory Smith because they're not happy with their wide receiver core there and could be interesting.
Jason Moore
I believe today they said they are not trading Tory Smith, which means his trade is imminent.
Mike Wright
Seems to be that way.
Jason Moore
That's usually what happens. Oh, we're never.
Mike Wright
Josh McCown also might be back this week. Right now, Kevin Hogan's the number one quarterback on the depth chart.
Andy Holloway
Oh, brother.
Mike Wright
Cody Kessler. I really want Kevin Hogan to be big. Now that you said that, there's some guys, you just got to go with it. So that's it for the news. Unless you guys have anything you'd like to throw in there. Extra, extra, extra.
Andy Holloway
Nope.
Mike Wright
All right.
Jason Moore
The only other news is this is week one of two weeks of bipocalypse.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Jason Moore
A lot of teams missing.
Mike Wright
Did you have the list?
Jason Moore
Yeah, we've got Baltimore gone. Los Angeles Rams gone. That means no case Keenum on your roster. Miami, gone. New York Giants and Odell Beckham, gone. Pittsburgh Steelers gone.
Mike Wright
The Antonio Browns and Sam and Tory Smith's on by. Oh, no.
Jason Moore
Put me in, coach.
Mike Wright
All right. Put me in, coach. Going into week eight, big names, big decisions. I still am shocked that Jay. Jay is somehow owned in 76% of leagues only.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that's.
Mike Wright
Let's let's start with running backs.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Because I want to talk about J Ajayi. Jason, I know you had an Ajayi evening.
Jason Moore
I sure did.
Mike Wright
You had a night. A night with Jay.
Jason Moore
A night with Jay. Yeah. You know, look, my opinion of Jay Ajayi has been not as informed as I wanted it to be. And so I went back last night and I watched the last month every single snap that the Dolphins have had, watched every run, every. You know, it was. It was painful, but I did it. I got through the Dolphins games. And I have a lot of thoughts on Ajayi. If you're talking waivers, you need to go for broke.
Mike Wright
That's exactly what I was going to.
Jason Moore
Ask you on A Jai. You need to go for broke on him. He is the clear workhorse back for Miami. Since. Since we're on this little mini tangent here. If I can have. If I can have the stage.
Andy Holloway
Oh, okay.
Jason Moore
All right.
Andy Holloway
I'm sitting back.
Jason Moore
Let me tell you. Jay Ajayi. We forget sometimes that the fantasy draft knit community saw three guys in a tier above everyone. Sometimes Jay Ajayi went in the third, but it was Todd Gurley, it was Melvin Gordon, and it was Jay Ajayi before the draft. Now, once Jay Ajayi went in the fifth round of the Dolphins, he was an afterthought. But beforehand he had the pedigree go. Look what he did in college. He was amazing. Look what he's done. He's only the fourth player in the history of the NFL and two others are hall of Famers that has put up back to back 200 yard weeks. Arian Foster just went down. Okay. He just went down. Which means you're locked and loaded as the guaranteed running back workhorse of that team. These are the reasons that if I own J A Jai, I am apart absolutely trading him.
Andy Holloway
Wow.
Jason Moore
Because you have a built in value where when you trade him, you are trading him right now at the value that he returns on those things. Like if you could find the trade partner that is either a Dolphins fan or a college football fan that remembers Jay Ajayi, they are going to buy in as a top five back or at least a top 10 back rest of the season.
Mike Wright
What about just somebody that watched 200 yard games in back to back?
Jason Moore
Well, so I watched those. One of them, for instance, you know, his big 70 yard run that really put him over the top in that first week. Did you realize that came when. That was. That was after the garbage time. Right. Garbage time. Big Ben gets that touchdown in the Steelers game two weeks ago. Yeah, two weeks ago that you remember the garbage time. Big Ben.
Mike Wright
I am shocked. I am shocked that you're throwing shade on him. No, I am blown away.
Jason Moore
Here's the deal and I want to be clear. I am not saying that Jay Ajai is not going to be okay for the rest of the season. Jay Ajay is going to get the work and he's going to be an all right back, but he is not going to do what he's done these two weeks the rest of the season. Some of those plays were, I mean that, that 70 yards was, you know, we don't like to say, oh well, if you take out his 70 yard run, it was, you know, but that was. There was like seconds left in the game. The Steelers weren't even playing D. I don't even know why they didn't take a knee on that play. And all of a sudden he run, they run the ball and he goes for 70 yards and a touchdown. So.
Andy Holloway
All right, well let me ask you this then because you want to trade him.
Jason Moore
I do because of that.
Andy Holloway
But I'm talking about what can you.
Mike Wright
Actually get if I cannot get for Ajayi if I cannot work a trade and I would put a Jay and a decent wide receiver together and if I could get David Johnson, that's what it's Le'Veon Bell.
Andy Holloway
These are the guys that won't get. It won't get done though. David Johnson.
Mike Wright
No, you might be able to get it done. You absolutely my highly doubt it. If you could. Look, Lev's going into a buy. You have Roethlisberger, that's not back yet.
Andy Holloway
If you can ship Ajay, he's going into a buy.
Mike Wright
Okay, fair point. But. But you can cash in on 200 yard games.
Jason Moore
Here's who I would.
Mike Wright
But I'm just. I buy into Ajay. I said it yesterday. I think he's a top eight back rest of season there are easily.
Jason Moore
That's. That's kind of my point. Right. Is like if you trade him to someone that believes that you are getting the value that he does return on that. But so, so if he does, you're fine. You know, if you trade him for an Odell Beckham Jr. Because you got him off waivers, you've still got running back depth and somebody's real down on Odell Beckham. Great. That's a good move. Do it, man. Capitalize on this because you've already got the baked in value. If he sucks, you win. If he's good, you didn't lose because you got enough value.
Mike Wright
I agree. But there are certain players, I mean, if you made that contention this week about David Johnson, I would say you still can't trade that player because they offer something that's a separator for your team.
Jason Moore
Absolutely. So if I never once saw Jay Ajayi break a tackle in the backfield, not one time in the last month. Now he is really good at those seven, eight yard runs right up the middle when the line opens a big hole.
Mike Wright
All of these hits, long run in Buffalo, he broke about three of them.
Jason Moore
No, no, no. He's great at breaking open, like open field tackles. Yes. Once he's six, seven yards down, hard to tackle that dude. But in the backfield, very easy to tackle that guy. And so the thing is, is, is the Miami Dolphins offensive line to open those holes that they have had three consecutive games at home. What you want to put your trust in because they've been at home. Listen to the playoff schedule. First week is Arizona. Second week of the playoffs is the New York jets on the road. I mean, look, I'm saying if you can get value for him, dude convinced me he's okay. I don't think he's going to. I'm not saying sell him because he's going to suck. I'm saying sell him because his value is not going to be this high ever again.
Andy Holloway
Before we move on to the rest of the waiver wire, I want to thank today's sponsor. That is a vast look, Foot Clan. We are talking about the global leader, not just, not just a tiny little place, the global leader in digital security. They're protecting you online against cyber threats. If you weren't aware of the power of a digital deviant, you know, like what they can do. You saw it last week. You saw Twitter going down, you saw Tumblr going down, you saw all these websites going down. You got to get yourself protected, my friends. And more than 400 million people trust Avast to keep all their digital goodies, all the digital things safe. Look, we're going out on. We're getting the research, we're getting our data, we're getting our facts. And we know that our systems are protected and they're being protected by the best. And like Jason said at the beginning of the show, they're light. Wait, they keep you safe. They're not going to bog you down, though. They keep your system going full speed, which is also equally as important. You want your system running at lightning speed. Avast helps you stay there while being safe. And they're staying up on all the latest threats that might try and sneak into your phone, your laptop.
Jason Moore
Look.
Andy Holloway
That's right. Avast is keeping not only your PCs and your Macs safe, but your mobile phones. You think your phones are safe? They're digital. You got to keep everything protected. Get it tight, get it right with Avast. If you want more information, head over to Avast.com. that's Avast.com.
Jason Moore
It'S free.
Mike Wright
Yeah. We also want to thank another of today's sponsors today, Tommy John. Guys, we have all been there. You get up from the long drive or a meeting, and it hits you, the need to readjust. And I'm not talking about your lineup. Not your lineup. You know what I'm talking about.
Andy Holloway
Unmentionables.
Mike Wright
It's the worst. And thankfully, Tommy John has got the cure. They are the 21st century men's underwear brand that has redefined comfort for guys everywhere, including all three of us.
Jason Moore
Oh, yeah.
Mike Wright
And we can speak very, very highly of Tommy John. They combine feather light breathable fabrics with innovative design for a fit that is so perfect, it's almost like wearing nothing at all. And bonus, it's impossible to get a wedgie. It's true with Tommy John. I've tested and, hey, you went through extensive wedgie testing.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Their undershirts are just as incredible. They go on like a second skin. They don't ever come untucked. They rebuilt the undershirt from the ground up so that it doesn't bunch up, it doesn't pull up. This is a great brand. All of their underwear and all of their products are backed by their best pair you'll ever wear or it's free guarantee. So you got nothing to lose. Hurry over to tommyjohn.comballers to get 20% off your first order. That's tommyjohn.comballers for 20% off. Tommyjohn.comballers all right, so we've talked at length about Ji. I think you've made some. I think you've made some good points. I think I do buy into him as a top eight rest of the season. But if you can get that kind of value for a guy that does have a tough playoff schedule, I agree. The ones that you brought up or we brought up, you know, David Johnson, Lev Bell, Oda Beckham Jr. Julio Jones, A.J. green. If those guys can be part of a deal, I'm fine with it.
Andy Holloway
I'm shocked.
Jason Moore
You'll see it a lot.
Mike Wright
You always say that, but you come from a perspective of we're in leagues where everybody's listening to the show and they're in it. There's a lot of leagues out there where people are. They're going to 200 yards a week, back to back week.
Andy Holloway
Very fair.
Mike Wright
And O.J. simpson was one, Ricky Williams was one. And I'm trying to remember the other one.
Jason Moore
Was it Gail Sayers?
Mike Wright
No, it wasn't Sayers.
Jason Moore
It was another hall of Famer, Oilers.
Mike Wright
I don't know.
Jason Moore
But you mix that with the news of Arian Foster and ignorant owners are just gonna be like, oh, I. Jai is gonna be the guy forever.
Andy Holloway
A Jay the guy.
Mike Wright
So other. Excuse me, we're going into other running backs. Jacquiz Rogers.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
Is he 34% owned? Is that real?
Andy Holloway
That is correct.
Mike Wright
Okay, so Jacquiz Rogers needs to be owned. 26 for 154 this past week.
Jason Moore
He's probably the number one waiver claim.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Because Ajay is not available in most leagues, Right?
Jason Moore
Correct.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
He.
Andy Holloway
Look, as long as Doug Martin is out, Jacques Quiz is going to be a beast. I talked about him in the Rising Stars.
Mike Wright
Earl Campbell. Earl Campbell. There I was thinking of.
Jason Moore
Sorry.
Andy Holloway
There we go. We're good. And look, his schedule. This is Jock was upcoming schedule. Oakland, Atlanta, Chicago. Right. I mean, you have three great games. And that's assuming that he's the starter with Doug Martin out, which I think it's a pretty safe assumption that you can say at least the next two weeks that Jacques Rogers is going to be the starter. And if something is even further wrong with Doug Martin, which he's been known to have that happen with two of his four years, then you got an RB one that you just grabbed off the waiver wire.
Mike Wright
Give me some other running back names that you like this week.
Jason Moore
Matt Oziata, I think is a really good name. He's going up against Chicago. They have not been, you know, great against the run. They've had a really good passing defense. And you had McKinnon last week deal with two different injuries during the game. Kind of go in, kind of go out. So Asiata, I mean, when I'm looking at this week, right. And this is important to realize with all the bye weeks, I'm looking at who's going to be good this week, and not only for my team, but I'm going out and I'm looking at my opponent and I'm saying, oh, my goodness, they need a running back this week. They don't have one to start unless they start, you know, some schlub backup off their bench. So I'm going to grab a guy who might be able to put up, you know, 10 plus points and that. So he would be a good example. Asiata, who else would be a good spot start this week?
Andy Holloway
I'll give you devonte Booker. I know you two guys were riding high on him yesterday and even though I still felt like C.J. anderson was the guy Booker got the more snaps yesterday.
Mike Wright
I don't know if Booker is as fast as I think he is or if it's just in comparison compared to the tortoise.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I mean that C.J. anderson, he's not a speed demon.
Mike Wright
I mean he broke some tackles. He's amazing. Yeah, he's a great running.
Andy Holloway
But if they're going to work both in, I mean you're maybe you're looking at devonte Freeman and Tevin Coleman, the Broncos version of that, and they get to take on San Diego. I think that Booker, if you are in a bipocalypse situation, Booker is a fine.
Mike Wright
Would you ever play. Would you play both against San Diego? Because you're not sitting.
Andy Holloway
If you're telling me mind it, I.
Jason Moore
Would absolutely be fine playing both. I mean, hopefully you have 190 yards yesterday. Hopefully you have one stud. You know that you don't have to play both these guys. But very similar to good matchups with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, you can get away with that. How about Chris Thompson?
Andy Holloway
Love it.
Jason Moore
Chris Thompson has actually put up surprisingly good weeks recently.
Mike Wright
He had seven catches.
Jason Moore
Yes. Seven catches for 40 yards and 73 yards on the ground, which was surprising. You had Matt Jones fumble the ball twice. Twice. And the coach comes out and says, yeah, we might need to take some carries away because obviously, yeah.
Andy Holloway
And with watching that game, you think, okay, well here comes the Rob Kelly experience. But it turned into Chris Thompson's workload just going way up. So I think that he is a great grab. He takes on the Bengals. I don't know if I. If you're in a PPR league, I mean fire him up. If you're in a standard league. I don't know if I'm going to throw him in this week. I would just sit him on the bench as a nice stash.
Jason Moore
And look, if you play on espn, I mean that's where we play. I think that's where a lot of people do a lot, if not most.
Andy Holloway
There are people are everywhere.
Jason Moore
But we should throw out the name Ty freakin Montgomery.
Andy Holloway
We had got to the wide receivers.
Jason Moore
Well, I'm not Talking about a wide receiver. That's why I specified espn because he is now eligible for running back and this coming week. Look, last week I made Tevin Coleman my start of the week because the matchup dictated that the running backs who can catch the ball have destroyed them. How about a running back who's a wide receiver? I mean, I can tell you right now, time Montgomery is my start of the week.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Love it.
Jason Moore
Call it.
Andy Holloway
Couple other names just to throw out that you might want to pick up. James White, still available in 33% of leagues. And Mike Gillislee, you is only owned in 6% of leagues. You have the McCoy situation. Buffalo Bills have come out and said it will be a lot like last week, which means they'll probably. They will screw it up and they'll play McCoy and he'll get eight carries for 10 yards again. But maybe they do the right thing and Mike Gillislee becomes the guy. And also just a reminder to if you got the space and you want to stash a guy. Derek Henry, available in 50% of leagues, and Alfred Morris is widely, widely available. These are some handcuffs that if something happens to the starter, you have.
Mike Wright
They're big boy handcuffs. Yes, they're handcuffs.
Andy Holloway
Thank you. You have a. You have a great option moving forward.
Mike Wright
Look, Ty Montgomery, he can take both of these positions. So, you know, we brought him up. He's the perfect transition to wide receivers. And so Montgomery takes the cake at the wide receiver pickups as well. But let's talk about Cole Beasley. Only owned 52% of leagues, has a Sunday night game, Dak Prescott taken on the Eagles. Beasley seems to be that guy that's just reliable. They used him a lot in the red zone this past week with just some misdirection plays. Beasley, 50% of leagues might be available in your league now.
Andy Holloway
The number two wide receiver for Dallas might be back this week.
Mike Wright
Talking about does Bryant.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's talking about the number one who will be back.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Jason Moore
Cole Beasley has been the number one because Des Bryant has been gone.
Andy Holloway
Cole Beasley was the number one when Des Bryant was playing.
Jason Moore
I think week two and week three beg to differ on that.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to vet that.
Jason Moore
Okay. Vet that.
Mike Wright
All right. Jason started the week. Tyrell Williams is not owned in. Well, he's owned in 67% of leagues. I'm not picking up Tyrell Williams.
Jason Moore
No way. I'm trying to trade him right now. He's got Denver coming up at Denver.
Mike Wright
You're going to see him on your you know last week's score list and be tempted. So I wouldn't pick him up.
Jason Moore
Yes, exactly. I think he's a guy that you avoid if he's out there. I mean he's, he's okay if you don't need a start and you just want to stash. But he's not going to have a good week this week against Denver so his trade value is going to be low and wide receivers are dime a dozen.
Andy Holloway
So.
Jason Moore
I agree. Here's a guy I would pick up. He's available in over half of leagues and that's Dante Moncrief expected back to practice Wednesday. I don't know whether or not he will start this week, but if he's back to practice, he's going to get picked up in every league, half of the leagues he's available. Pick him up immediately. Look, we saw Doyle rule because there were no other targets. Dante Moncrief was gone. Philip Dorsett was gone. Quan Bray was gone. Who. And so you've got Dante Moncrief, one of our favorite guys coming into the year. Who's back? Pick him up. Pick him up.
Mike Wright
Here's a guy owned in 10% of leagues, currently the 23rd ranked wide receiver averaging almost 11 points a game in half point leagues. Brandon LaFell.
Jason Moore
Yeah, love him this week.
Mike Wright
He has scored in three straight games, four touchdowns in that span and now takes on Washington before his bye. He also has what I would consider to be a potentially good playoff matchup if you, you know Cleveland.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he just hitsburg good against Cleveland.
Mike Wright
It's just an interesting guy that has performed. He's never had over 100 yards this, this year but you know, eight catches three weeks ago for this past week. I think he's worth a. I wouldn't spend fab on him but I'd put a waiver claim in on him. That's how I feel. Unless you're desperate. You know, all these buys are here. You said you like him this week.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I do like him this week. I mean look, you've got Washington right now. We don't know if Norman is going to be.
Andy Holloway
He would be on AJ Green anyways.
Jason Moore
Right. And that's the point. We don't know if he's going to be there, but even if he's there, he's going to be guarding A.J. green and I don't think they've got, you know, the, the real team to, to lock down multiple guys if he's gone. Yeah, Brandon lefell should be a good play this week. He's playing in London. I'm okay starting him.
Mike Wright
My favorite pickup might be Michael Thomas.
Andy Holloway
He is emerged as I think the safest receiver on the Saints.
Jason Moore
Yeah, but he plays Seattle this week. I mean I'm. For me this, this is the time of the year this week and next.
Andy Holloway
Week I'm on the road or at home.
Mike Wright
No, it's at home. It's at home.
Jason Moore
I am really looking personally at weekly matchups. I'm not so much right now concerned with wait and see guys. So like one guy that I've been telling you for a while there would be a good. And he's still out there in Corey Coleman. Oh, Corey Coleman. You know, look, I think he's okay if you don't need to start or if your opponent isn't looking for a wide receiver to start because I expect he's got a good rest season. But I'm more interested right now in, you know, brand LaFell.
Mike Wright
Than Michael Thomas.
Jason Moore
No, than Corey Coleman.
Mike Wright
Oh, yeah. I mean Michael Thomas is somebody who I like a lot more than Corey Coleman.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Michael Thomas actually put up an 18 point week without scoring this past week 10 catches against Kansas City. And we talked about, you know, this is on the road and you have.
Andy Holloway
So you have Seattle this week. Maybe your team is solid this week but you know that next week, week nine, there is another monster bipocalypse. Lo and behold, Michael Thomas and the Saints will be taking on San Francisco.
Jason Moore
Yeah, that is.
Mike Wright
We also know they have Tampa Bay twice in their playoff matchups.
Andy Holloway
So yeah, I think he's a.
Mike Wright
Now we've kind of buried the lead here. We haven't talked about Devonte Adams.
Jason Moore
Oh, the sharp cheddar.
Mike Wright
Vonte Adams had 13 for 132 and 2. We waited a little while to get to him, but he's got a great matchup this week.
Jason Moore
Great matchup.
Mike Wright
He seemed to be the fit that Aaron Rodgers needed to move the offense. I mean, I would spend a decent amount of money on Devonte Adams. Really? On the chance. On the chance that you are buying yourself a, you know, this year's Randall Cobb.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I mean this week should be great. So whether this is to play keep away for an opponent or have him in Atlanta. The reason that I picked Tyrell Williams last week is because you have Trufont as a great defender. But I really, really, really seriously doubt the Trufont is going to be guarding Devonte Adams. You know, he's probably going on Jordy Nelson.
Andy Holloway
They usually just don't guard him right. Because they know the.
Mike Wright
Yeah, you've never needed to before, so he set a precedent.
Jason Moore
Yeah. The second and third wide receivers against Falcons have done very well. This is a perfect game for Devonte Adams.
Mike Wright
All right, any other names you want to throw out there real quick at the wide receiver position before we jump to tight ends and then our quarterback.
Jason Moore
Streams, you know, because of the matchup, I think if you need a weekly play, Muhammad Sanu might be worth throwing out there, you know. Well, I mean, I don't love him, but he's against Green Bay. If that ends up being a scoring game and you need a start, I think it's okay.
Andy Holloway
I would throw Jameson Crowder, especially if. If Jordan Reed is out. Crowder has been very involved.
Mike Wright
All right. I think the main tight end worth mentioning, Jack Doyle, 15% owned. Big week this past week. Could have another one. Tyler Ifert as well. You know, Marva Lewis expects his role to expand in week eight. He was just fresh back off of the long term injury there, so I think Ifert's going to see his involvement in that offense improve, especially, you know, when you're coming down into the red zone. I think he's worth a stash, but he's owned in a lot of leagues, so I think Jack Doyle is kind of the pickup there. Do you guys have any other names? I mean, I just.
Andy Holloway
If you want to pick up Ladarius Green of the Hope, I mean, he's on the bye week, so you might not have to do it. And another, if Jordan Reed is out, Vernon Davis, he's going to be a tight end one until Jordan Reed returns.
Mike Wright
Doyle or Kelsey?
Jason Moore
Doyle.
Andy Holloway
Doyle. Okay, give me a. Give me actual upside.
Mike Wright
Okay, all right, fair enough. He's really come on this year.
Andy Holloway
Defensively, you're looking at the jets versus the Browns. Do we agree that's the creme de la creme?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I don't agree completely.
Andy Holloway
Where do you go then? Where's your number one defensive pickup? Sounds like the Jets.
Mike Wright
No, it is the jets, but I'm just. It's the jets with a tinge of. If McCown's back and the Browns performed last week on the ground and they got enough done to where they put up some numbers. I'm just saying, if McCown's back and the jets secondary so bad, it's not a. It's not a shoe. Right. Still, the best pickup.
Andy Holloway
Say the jets did just shut down the Ravens running game, which was looking very strong for the last couple of weeks.
Mike Wright
Bears defense against the Vikings. Vikings looked pretty inept this past week. McKinnon might be out.
Jason Moore
I really like the Titans D this week. Blake Bortles has just. He has looked. Sorry, that was atrocious.
Mike Wright
He has looked so bad. He may be the worst quarterback in the league right now. I mean, statistically. He may be.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Ryan Weiss writes a really good defensive pickup article for us that posted today. So if you go to the fantasy footballers.com you can read some of those. Look at how he nailed last week's defense. And he likes the Titans this week. And as he says, Blake Bortles has never seen an interception. He doesn't like to throw.
Mike Wright
It's gross.
Andy Holloway
I mean, that's a good line.
Mike Wright
He has got to get it figured out. Somebody told me they thought. They thought ever since I deface Gus Bradley's picture here in the office that you're the.
Andy Holloway
The.
Mike Wright
That I messed up their offense.
Andy Holloway
You're the Cubs goat.
Mike Wright
I don't know. I guess I'm the Cubs goat. All right, let's move on to quarterbacks, which means we are talking streamers.
Jason Moore
Full stream ahead.
Mike Wright
All right, Mike, are you ready?
Andy Holloway
Oh, you know I'm ready. He was my streamer last week.
Mike Wright
What's his ownership percentage?
Andy Holloway
His ownership percentage is 53. Well, we have it. Is it 55 or 53?
Jason Moore
I don't care.
Andy Holloway
Science needs to know. Mid 50s. Mid to low 50s. Famous Jameis Winston. He's taken on Oakland, who by all accounts, if it's not a Blake Bortles offense, looks like they can beat them and put up some spectacular fantasy points. Look, I talked about it last week. I hope you picked up Jameis because this is the stretch where he is that was built for the Buccaneers. It's built for Jameis. Built for fantasy production. Like I said, owned in or available in almost half of leagues. And for the next couple weeks, to me, Jameis Winston will be a quarterback one. On top of that, you have the. You have that chocolate syrup. You have the cherry on the top of there that if you want to hold on to Jameis and you're looking good for the playoffs. He's got the Saints twice. So he is my pickup. Not only is my streamer pickup, but I think this is a rest of season pickup for Jameis Winston.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's good. But Mike.
Andy Holloway
Yes, voice of public opinion.
Jason Moore
But Mike James is own in most of the leagues I play. And do you have anybody deeper? I do. I got a guy who's available in your league. I guarantee it.
Andy Holloway
Did you just talk to yourself?
Jason Moore
No, I was talking to the Voice, public opinion. My guy is available and the reason he's available is because he wasn't even a starter.
Andy Holloway
Because look, you know the scene in Star wars where they fall into the trash compactor and they are just in sewer goop. There's a monster in there. The walls start closing in. This.
Jason Moore
That describes my quarterback.
Andy Holloway
That is the pick that you're going with. But I don't hate it.
Jason Moore
No, I love it. This should be everybody.
Mike Wright
Pick is the right word.
Jason Moore
Yes, pick is the right word. He was so good at throwing picks. He threw 10 picks in the first four weeks. But he is a brand new starter as of this week. It was not the starter last week and I am talking about picks. Patrick. Ryan Fitzpatrick, look, he is actually a decent quarterback from time to time. Streaming candidate. He has always been one of those guys that ends up having a couple top five weeks. Now I could talk about, you know, his wide receiver core. He's got Brandon Marshall, he's got this and that. He's back. He's got the trust. He has to have the trust because there's nobody behind him. But I'm going to say he plays Cleveland this week. I rest my case.
Andy Holloway
Cleveland has been Cleveland so bad against quarterback.
Jason Moore
I mean, look, what was the least.
Mike Wright
They'Ve given up points? So 22.
Andy Holloway
The least in our league is just under 23 fantasy points. You are talking.
Jason Moore
It's been a month since they haven't given up in the 30s. Okay. I mean, you're talking 38, 38, 30 points in a row. And the 30 points last week was to my man Andy Dalton, who did it all in the first half. I don't see how Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn't throw a couple touchdowns here. I don't worry about him throwing many interceptions against the Browns. I mean, really, he's only thrown one interception in the last three weeks. So Ryan Fitzpatrick, he's available. I would play him. And I expect, honestly, I really expect a top 12 week. I'm. I'm fully confident starting Ryan Fitzpatrick this week.
Mike Wright
I'm going with the, you know, my streamer guys. He's my streamer. Oh, he's just my guy.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Mike Wright
Stream him every week. Marcus Mariota, look, last week he put together a decent week even though he did not run a ton. This week he's got Jacksonville on Thursday Night football. It's only 32% owned and right now he's the number nine quarterback on the season. So I think being able to pick up the number nine quarterback on the season, you've got a baseline with some of those rushing yards and the opportunity to, you know, kind of, you know, with Kendall right back, that, that adds something else to the offense. Delaney Walker was very good last week. You had Jacksonville 21st against opposing quarterbacks. I think Mariota is a guy. It was hard for me to decide between him and Alex Smith. I think Alex Smith is an honorable mention this week that you can pay attention to. Mostly because I think Alex Smith is just safe.
Andy Holloway
He is. He is pretty much an honorable mention almost every single week.
Mike Wright
I mean, he's just kind of Safe. He had 25 fantasy points last week. If you would run the ball. He has Indianapolis this week, which makes him a decent pickup.
Jason Moore
He's at home, the second highest over, under.
Mike Wright
No, I'm sorry.
Jason Moore
He's on the road, which is great that he's on the road because Indianapolis is going to be able to score and that's just going to make, you know, Alex Smith have to continue to throw the ball and try to take a lead or keep a lead.
Mike Wright
So that does it for our streams of the week. You can find those on the website as well. But that's Jameis Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Marcus Mariota. This week we're going to answer a few mailbag questions.
Jason Moore
Mailbag.
Mike Wright
If you've got a question for the show, go to the website the fantasy footballers.com. click the submit a question button or you can dial our voicemail hotline. 302-464-TFFB. Going to answer a few from the listeners today. Tom in Milwaukee wants to know, does he trade away Jordy Nelson in return for Carlos Hyde?
Jason Moore
You know, we say this all the time. When it's a running back for a wide receiver, it is team dependent. You know, if you've got wide receiver depth, you don't have running back depth. Do it. If you're going to end up trading one problem for a different problem. I wouldn't. But in a vacuum, which guy would you rather have? I guess I would.
Mike Wright
In a vacuum, I'll take call aside, I think assuming Hyde is back this week. Right. That's the thing. If you, if it's extended absence, I don't do that. But in a vacuum, I take Hyde.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'll just throw out this. Just to piggyback on Jason's point, we hear a lot of people, oh, I'm stacked at running back because I have three startable options. That's not, that's not stacked. Like, look at your bye weeks. Look at next week. You might think, oh, yeah, I got three options. You look Next week. I have one option next week. So don't think that because you have three strong starting running backs that you can just throw away all your depth at this point, right?
Jason Moore
I completely agree.
Mike Wright
David writes in from Hollywood. Hollywood, he says, Eddie Lacy is available in my keeper league. Is he worth spending fab money on? Does Eddie Lacy have a future and will he be fantasy relevant next season?
Jason Moore
That is a great question. Look, Eddie Lacey is in a contract year. We don't know if he's going to be a packer, if he's going to be somewhere else. He's coming off of an injury.
Mike Wright
Eddie money, Eddie tummy, Eddie, Tommy.
Jason Moore
I like it. Look, I'm going to go ahead and say that probably not now. You probably are in a keeper league where you keep what, three guys.
Mike Wright
Just depends.
Jason Moore
I mean, it depends, but I mean most of the time you're at two or three guys in, in most keeper leagues, if it's four, maybe Eileen a little bit stronger there. But I have to believe you will have three better keeper options by the end of the year than a guy coming off of an injury not knowing what team he's going to be on, you know? Okay, do you guys disagree?
Andy Holloway
I think he's worth the pickup. But you, like you said, it depends on the amount of keepers and it depends. Are you in a five bench league and you're just going to burn a bench spot for the rest of the year hoping for Eddie Lacy for 2017?
Jason Moore
I would not do it.
Andy Holloway
I would not do that. But if there's a situation where he's not hurting your bench at all, then I, I would definitely pick him up.
Mike Wright
All right, Dustin in Kansas City says, should I consider trading Jamal Charles at this point in the season? If so, what kind of players should I consider getting for Jamal Charles? I mean, what is the situation here with Jamal? Do you think that there are people that are going to still buy into the name value and then you go cash in, Would you do that or would you just hold him?
Andy Holloway
Because shrug, if they are the people that you're packaging J and player X and you're stealing away like a David Johnson, which if that's possible, then somebody is still going to buy Jamal Charles. It's going to be a tough, tough sell. You're going to have to go owner by owner.
Jason Moore
You know who I would trade Jamal Charles for?
Andy Holloway
Anybody.
Jason Moore
Spencer Ware. If I don't, I would, I would just go and say, hey, I'll give you Jamal Charles.
Andy Holloway
I would do that too. But that would, that would be a crazy, crazy act to do.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate to see what's become of the season for Jamal Charles. Thanks again to Tommy John for sponsoring the episode today. Fantasy Footballers Podcast Summary
Episode: Fantasy Football Podcast 2016 - Week 8 Waivers, Streams of the Week, Goodbye Arian
Release Date: October 25, 2016
Arian Foster's Retirement The hosts bid a heartfelt farewell to Arian Foster, discussing his impact and the circumstances surrounding his retirement. Mike Wright shares, “[Arian] was my guy through the good times and the injured times” (06:50). Jason Moore reflects on Foster's reliability, adding, “I have loved Aryan for a long time this season” (07:33). The conversation highlights Foster's contributions to fantasy teams and the emotional toll of losing a key player.
Other NFL Updates The team covers additional NFL news, including Joy Bell being released by Chicago and Tevin Coleman’s hamstring injury, which is expected to sidelined him for at least Week 8 (07:59 - 08:34). They also touch on John Brown’s anticipated return and the ongoing quarterback carousel affecting team dynamics.
Running Backs to Target The hosts delve into strategic waiver wire decisions for running backs, emphasizing the importance of matchups over recent performance. Key recommendations include:
Jay Ajayi: Jason Moore advocates trading Ajayi, stating, “If you own J Ajayi, I am absolutely trading him” (17:34). He argues that Ajayi’s value is high due to his role as Miami’s workhorse back.
Jacquiz Rogers: With Doug Martin out, Jacquiz Rogers emerges as a valuable pickup. Mike Wright notes, “Jacquiz Rogers needs to be owned. He’s going to be a beast” (27:01).
Matt Asiata and Devonte Freeman: Jason suggests Asiata for favorable matchups, while Andy recommends Devonte Booker as a reliable option in bipocalypse scenarios (28:47 - 30:31).
Wide Receivers to Target Wide receiver pickups are crucial for maximizing weekly points. Recommendations include:
Brandon LaFell: Praised for his recent performance, Mike Wright highlights LaFell’s potential against Washington and his solid playoff matchup (33:50).
Dante Moncrief and Michael Thomas: Jason Moore urges listeners to pick up Dante Moncrief immediately due to his increased involvement, while Mike emphasizes Michael Thomas as a top pickup with consistent performance (33:59 - 35:55).
Tight Ends to Consider The hosts recommend targeting tight ends with favorable opportunities:
Jack Doyle: Recognized for his improved performance this year, Jack Doyle is suggested as a key pickup (37:26).
Vernon Davis: Andy Holloway mentions that Davis could step up if Jordan Reed remains out, providing a reliable option (38:33).
Quarterback Streaming Tips Streaming quarterbacks based on matchups can strategically enhance team performance. Top streaming picks include:
Jameis Winston: Andy emphasizes Winston’s strong upcoming schedule, calling him “a quarterback one” and a must-pick for the stretch run (40:35).
Ryan Fitzpatrick: Highlighted by Jason Moore as a dependable streamer against Cleveland, citing the Browns’ weak pass defense (43:55).
Marcus Mariota: Mike Wright recommends Mariota for his solid performance and favorable matchup against Jacksonville (44:42).
Defenses to Target Defensive units can provide significant weekly points. Key suggestions include:
New York Jets Defense: With a struggling offensive line, the Jets’ defense is deemed a top pick, especially if Jamal McCown returns as quarterback (38:43).
Tennessee Titans Defense: Praised for their ability to capitalize on turnovers, the Titans are recommended as a strong defensive option (39:01).
Trading Jordy Nelson for Carlos Hyde Tom in Milwaukee inquires about trading wide receiver Jordy Nelson for running back Carlos Hyde. Jason Moore advises, “[If] you have wide receiver depth, you don't have running back depth. Do it” (45:42). The consensus is to evaluate team needs, emphasizing the importance of depth and positional balance.
Eddie Lacy in Keeper Leagues David from Hollywood asks about the viability of Eddie Lacy in keeper leagues. Jason Moore recommends against spending significant resources on Lacy, citing his injury status and uncertain team placement (46:51). Andy Holloway suggests picking him up only if it doesn't compromise bench space, aligning with the need for strategic flexibility (47:33).
Trading Jamal Charles Dustin in Kansas City wonders whether to trade Jamal Charles and what trades to seek. Jason Moore humorously suggests trading him for Spencer Ware or outright, while Andy Holloway concurs that Jamal’s current performance makes him a challenging trade asset (47:53). The discussion underscores the difficulty in trading players with limited recent production.
The hosts tease upcoming segments, promising exciting additions to the show. They encourage listeners to stay engaged with the Fantasy Footballers community for the latest insights and strategies.
