Jason Moore
Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast coming to you from the fantasyjocks.com studios with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
Get that unverified swine away from the studio.
Jason Moore
Oh, man. This show is 100% verified.
Andy Holloway
It's a two man show today. It's a two man show this week as Mike is away from the office. We just couldn't take it anymore. No, honestly, at some point, it's a trust issue.
Jason Moore
We said, look, I want you to enjoy your family and have a vacation and you feel free to come back here as soon, as soon as you're very.
Andy Holloway
As soon as you're verified. So Andy and. Andy and Jason, two thirds of the fantasy footballers are here. Welcome to the show. Monday, November 14th.
Jason Moore
What a weekend of football. There were some. Some really cool things and some really gross things that happened.
Andy Holloway
Upside down world. There were some upside down things. Jokes that we made about Doug Peterson came true.
Jason Moore
Seriously, what is going on with Doug Peterson? You know, it's not, it's not. It's not misinformation or a lack of information now.
Andy Holloway
It's just wrong information.
Jason Moore
It's just, you know exactly what he's. What the truth is. If you just take oppositesies, you just say, whatever he said, I believe the exact opposite. And you could take that to the bank.
Andy Holloway
So painful for fantasy owners when stuff like that happens because there's nothing that can be done to avoid it.
Jason Moore
Ryan Matthews was the top. I think he was the third best running back this week. Congratulations to everyone who had a monster point total on your bench.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. If. Or on the waiver wire.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. That was one of many upside down things to happen. The Bears fans were quick to let me know that that's why they don't like Jay Cutler. Oh, so there was that.
Jason Moore
Yeah, not. Not the. Not the best week. There were also, though, some. Some really exciting things. Some guys that panned out the way that we thought or hoped as well.
Andy Holloway
My almost upset of the week.
Jason Moore
Hey, There you go.
Andy Holloway
Denver 1 In the most improbable of fashions. I can't even believe.
Jason Moore
I can't imagine what it would feel like to lose A game that way you go down and you, you actually win the game. Right? I mean that's how you feel with, with just about no time left, you score the touchdown and just need the extra point to win.
Andy Holloway
I went away from the game. I. The touchdown happened. I moved away and literally you should have seen my face when. So you've got certain games up on the TV on your phone. I, I pull the game up on my phone, I see it's 25, 23 Denver and my face goes. It like contorted into this. What? Like.
Jason Moore
Because you think at that point, how did that possible. You didn't see it and you think, okay, well they came to.
Andy Holloway
I don't even.
Jason Moore
They, they didn't get the extra point somehow and then what? They lost.
Andy Holloway
It was just bewildering safety.
Jason Moore
Yeah. That was crazy. And if you don't know what we're talking about, basically what happened in that game was Drew Brees came down to take the. The tying touchdown where an extra point would win the game. Game is basically over.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. A minute left.
Jason Moore
Yeah. They go to kick the extra point. It is blocked and returned all the way. So not only did did they not miss the extra point and then, okay, well now we got to go into overtime, but they actually lost the game on that play where you assume you won the game.
Andy Holloway
Also couldn't believe Carolina collapsed. 17 point lead fumble by Kelvin Benjamin and a last second field goal there. So lots happened. Like we said, it'll be a good show. We're going through the stud muffins, the pooped in the big boy pants Monday.
Jason Moore
Night preview or Raising Cane's rising stars of the week.
Andy Holloway
That's right. We've got the rewind, so it is jam packed now. From time to time, we like to read reviews that our listeners leave on itunes. Other places. It's one of the ways you guys can support the show is leave a review on itunes. This one came through and I just felt like there was no choice but to read it. So as only Jason can, we're gonna jump into the review of Source.
Jason Moore
Reviewasaurus Rags. This one comes in from the Dynasty Butcher. Yeah, he sounds really scary. He says, look, I love many fantasy football podcasts. Many days though I don't have time to listen to more than one. On those days, I choose the footballers and it's not a hard choice at all. These dudes are hilarious and their advice is astute. When they get off topic, I don't find myself rolling my eyes like I do with other podcasts because they Bring it back quick. And it's always entertaining. My only beef with this podcast almost costing them that fifth star in my rating. Uh oh, is that one of the guys? Mike Wright is not verified on Twitter. I like the guy. I just don't know if I can trust custom or if I might be getting catfished like Manteo. Also, he kind of looks like a homeless man sometimes. Sometimes all the time. Just makes me a little uncomfortable. Anyways, thanks for the daily entertainment, Ballers. Well, thank you, Dynasty.
Andy Holloway
Sometimes reviews just hit the nail right on the head. You know, things that we know.
Jason Moore
Let's be honest, to be true, we deserve four stars. Because of Twitter's. Because of Mike Homeless. We got rid of them, so it's okay.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's gone. No, he's. He's enjoying a well deserved vacation with the family. He's in Disneyland.
Jason Moore
The happiest place on earth.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Unless you have your three kids with you, in which case it's the happiest and the most tiring place on the.
Jason Moore
Happiest place on earth for your three kids.
Andy Holloway
Yes. Yes. All right, if you want to follow us, do so on twitter@the ff ballers. Head to the website, the fantasy footballers.com. lots of articles, lots of good information on the site. And Obviously check out JoinTheFoot.com, our year round fantasy football community. Let's get into the rewind.
Jason Moore
Weekly Rewind.
Andy Holloway
Did you know we have a special guest on the show tomorrow?
Jason Moore
I did know that and I'm pretty sure he's done a thing or two in his career.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Are we revealing it?
Jason Moore
We might as well. After Ezekiel Elliott did what he did.
Andy Holloway
Yes, we will have Eric Dickerson himself, Hall of fame running back Eric Dickerson on the show tomorrow, sharing some of his insights on a number of running backs, running back situations, and whether Ezekiel Elliott has a chance to break that coveted rookie record of 1808. I believe 1808, it stood for a.
Jason Moore
Long time since Eric Dickerson took that. That home. Will it be broken?
Andy Holloway
Will it be broken? So we'll have him on the show tomorrow. Looking forward to that. All right, Weekly rewind. Larry Fitzgerald will undergo an MRI on his knee on Monday. Was taken to the locker room after landing backwards on his neck, came back in. Seemed like every catch he made in this game, he ended up partially injured in some fashion. You just need to monitor that. We don't know anything else. I think he'll be okay based on the fact he came back in and continued to dominate.
Jason Moore
Yeah. The way he finished the game Seemed like he was okay. I assume he will play. He'll probably be given some days off, but worth monitoring.
Andy Holloway
All right, Doug Peterson's mentor, John Fox says Jonathan Sorry, says Jordan Howard has sustained a possible ankle injury, maybe an Achilles injury. Jordan Howard is denying that he suffered any injury, but again, you're going to need to pay attention to that if Howard was to miss time. Who are the beneficiaries?
Jason Moore
Kadeem Carey, Kareem Carey, Jeremy Langford.
Andy Holloway
Langford might be back into the discussion.
Jason Moore
I would assume that if Jordan Howard was gone, I think Jeremy Langford would take back over that starting role. I do not think Jordan Howard will miss time, but we'll know much more as the week goes on.
Andy Holloway
Lamar Miller briefly missed the game, left the game due to an ankle injury. He came back in. I believe he only played 26 snaps in this game.
Jason Moore
Yeah, when you say he came back in, it seemed like he was basically gone from the game. He started the game on fire, had a 45 yard run, looked great, then left the game and wasn't really the same with that ankle injury once he was back out there. So hopefully he gets rest and is still practicing, though, late this week.
Andy Holloway
All right. And the Cowboys, they're calling this the big dilemma. Jerry Jones confirmed Dak Prescott will remain the starter. Tony Romo suffered a setback during rehab. I wonder. Setback?
Jason Moore
No, I know what the setback was. It was that Dak is really good.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I mean, somebody came in and twisted his ankle.
Jason Moore
I. Hold on, let me take a look at. They're just massaging his foot and then. Yeah, here's the deal. If Dak Prescott were to get injured this week and blow his knee out in practice, Tony Roma would be completely healed.
Andy Holloway
I'm just saying that's a terrible.
Jason Moore
No, I don't. In fact, let me just throw this out there because he's not. Dak Prescott was almost. He is my backup for raising Cain's rising star of the week. He has proven to me that I am completely confident in him, fantasy wise. He has three weeks in a row of basically 30 fantasy points, and he has thrown or ran for multiple touchdowns, going all the way back to, I think like week three. I mean, that's what you need in fantasy football. So Dak is certainly a rising star for fantasy. Certainly a rising star in the NFL. And Tony Romo's not coming back for the Dallas Cowboys while he's out there.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And I believe it came out that Romo was willing to be a backup, understanding the situation. So credit to him for the willingness to do that. And you can't be in a better. You know, so many quarterbacks, you've seen the Cardinals in years past, other teams with injuries, going to the playoffs with nothing. That would be great. They're okay, they're safe.
Jason Moore
The Cowboys would be smart to accept that and allow him to be there for those game. I mean, if, if he went down in a game, it would be really nice to say, oh, I can bring in Tony Roman.
Andy Holloway
Sure, sure.
Jason Moore
This week's fantasy stud muffins.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's run through the big performances of the weekend. Obviously we have the Monday night game this evening, so there'll be a few more. But Marcus Mariota, what more can you say about this guy right now? 19 for 26, 295 and now four touchdowns. He didn't even need to do it on the ground.
Jason Moore
He's been on fire.
Andy Holloway
You talk about an honorary rising star. The only reason I didn't pick Mariota is due to the playoff schedule being a little more difficult. He starts week 14, I believe. Well, he's off in week 13, has Denver in week 14. So I didn't like him as a long term or as a playoff quarterback for fantasy owners. That being said, absolutely been astounding, Been great. He's had three plus touchdowns in four of the last six games. He's put together an incredible run. He's done it with only 14, 11, 14 and 8 rushing yards the last four weeks. So these top, you know, 30 plus performances without the rushing yards that he's capable of really impressing me. The team is impressing me overall. And so really great performance by Mariota. Certainly you can still play him. Just keep in mind that playoff schedule is tough. Big Ben, 37 for 46. This is home. Big Ben.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I was going to say he was, he was at home and he was amazing because he's amazing at home. The real test comes this week for Big Ben because he was. I mean, he's always a fantasy superstar at home and he is so disappointing on the road this week. He's going on the road, but to Cleveland.
Andy Holloway
So he'll be all right. He'll be all right. Cleveland is home for everybody. Just so you're, you're aware Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers had big fantasy days. Russell Wilson, 348 and three. All three of them to Doug Baldwin. You know, he did. He's doing it again.
Jason Moore
He did exactly what I said. If they have a need to score, he's going to do it because that's what the stupid Seahawks do.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so you kind of took the words out of my mouth. I was going to disclaim the fact that, okay, people know we're Cardinal fans, and so they might think there's an embitteredness to the Seahawks, which they'd be right about now. Right. That aside, the calls and the plays that go the Seahawks way this year and historically, they just mesmerize me, I think. I don't know if that was a penalty, though.
Jason Moore
I don't if, honestly, if there was a penalty there, I think it was more on Gronk.
Andy Holloway
They both were fighting, and that was the right call.
Jason Moore
It was a great game. There were several great games in the NFL. But Russell Wilson, you did see that he was able to move around in the pocket a little bit. He looked good. I think if he's. If he's going to be in matchups where, you know, the other team is good, I am much more willing to play him as a viable fantasy star.
Andy Holloway
Pop quiz. Do the Green Bay packers make the playoffs?
Jason Moore
No. No, the Green Bay packers do not make the playoffs. Their team is legitimately bad. Their offense is great, and whenever you have a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, who is it?
Andy Holloway
Is it great?
Jason Moore
I think their offense would. Would be able to score enough to beat any team out there.
Andy Holloway
I guess they have more. I guess they have more points scored than any of the NFC west teams. Yeah, their offense is. They have more than anybody in their own division.
Jason Moore
Their offense could win games if their defense could stop people. But the problem was they've lost too many pieces on defense. As soon as Sam Shields left, the dominoes started to fall apart, which means this is really good news for fantasy, for the Green Bay offensive players. You know, you worry sometimes about matchups, but it's kind of like what you see with the New Orleans Saints. The matchups don't really matter because the other team is always going to be able to score and the quarterback is good enough to hang in there with the best of them. So I think it's good news for fantasy, bad news for the Packers.
Andy Holloway
Drew Brees put to rest any concerns about Denver. I mean, he had a good game. 20 of them for 29, 303 and 3 should have won the game. I, you know, I think I said last week I thought the Saints were going to make the playoffs. This doesn't help.
Jason Moore
Breeze was honestly in consideration to me as a rising star. I didn't do that because it would be ridiculous.
Andy Holloway
Sure. Because.
Jason Moore
I just.
Andy Holloway
But you wanted to give him some Sort of trophy for beating Denver the way he did.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I mean it's. It's truly unbelievable when you look at the fact that no team. Let me count the amount of teams that have scored over or scored have passed for more than 200 yards, more than 203 on the year. And that includes, that includes Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan. Those are two of the three. And Andy Dalton. And then Drew Brees comes out and throws for 303 against that defense. Drew Brees is unbelievable in his old age.
Andy Holloway
And Cam Newton had a good game. Yes, an incredible touchdown run. 12 for 54 on the ground. That really carried him. And then 28, 23 for 38 with 261 and 1 through the air.
Jason Moore
They got off to a quick start, but they did.
Andy Holloway
They did. And they lost again. So do they make the playoffs?
Jason Moore
No, they're. I think their record says that they are now out of it.
Andy Holloway
Okay, let's move on to the running backs. What more can you say about this young crop of guys like David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott? I mean, Elliott just went ham and eggs this week, three touchdowns. I mean, I told this. People want, people want to acclaim the line and they should. It's a great offensive line. But there is no chance that this team is eight and one without Ezekiel Elliott.
Jason Moore
I can. I completely agree. You put Alfred Morris there and Alfred Morris would do a good job. He would be a fantasy stud that he's not going to do what Ezekiel Elliott does. He's not going to break. That game is on the line. Let me just go ahead and run 25 yards for the touchdown or break away that. Whatever it was, that 80 yard screen pass, screen pass for a touchdown. He has looked electric. And also his.
Andy Holloway
He's over a thousand yards now.
Jason Moore
His pass blocking is great. He takes guys out of the play. Other guys come in and they get in the way and slow a guy down. Ezekiel Elliott, when he's blocking a dude, he just takes him out of the play.
Andy Holloway
So I'm going to put you on the spot here. All right.
Jason Moore
I know it's coming.
Andy Holloway
Two difficult questions with Zeke, with Lev Bell and with David Johnson. It's kind of moot in a fantasy show to say those guys are good. Yeah, they played well. Okay, we knew that. But let's ask two important questions. Question one, who would you rather have in a dynasty league? Ezekiel Elliott, Le'Veon Bell or David Johnson?
Jason Moore
It would be Ezekiel Elliott.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
Ezekiel Elliott was drafted to be what we have seen him to be. His quarterback is young. I trust the longevity of the offense over the Cardinals.
Andy Holloway
So the variables in Arizona over the years could affect David Johnson more. See them affecting Zeke.
Jason Moore
Exactly.
Andy Holloway
And then this season, rest of season, Zeke Bell or David Johnson.
Jason Moore
I think I would take David Johnson this year as the number one. Certainly not because I'm a Cardinals fan. Just because he is so much more involved in the passing game. Both of those guys are excellent. If you want to take one over the other, there's no problem with that. Either one could finish higher. I just prefer the guy that is going to get four or five receptions a game.
Andy Holloway
I'm already looking forward to the redraft rankings for next season with some of these big time young running backs. It's going to be a hard decision. I don't even know how you make Melvin Gordon. Yeah, yeah, you can throw them in that group too. And we're going to talk about those guys with Eric Dickerson tomorrow. All right. LeGarrett Blunt. Three touchdowns in LeGarrett Blunt style, but that's what you need. So, I mean, he had a big game and he's scoring. I think he has 12 touchdowns on the season. That's incredible. Will he keep it going or do you.
Jason Moore
I mean, there's no way he doesn't keep it going. He has not had a game yet where Tom Brady has played where he has not scored a touchdown. Now, I'm not saying he continues scoring a guaranteed touchdown every game. But that pace with Tom Brady and the current offense, they give him the carries, they use him on the goal line and he's performed. Why would they stop? You've got an offense that moves the ball and gets down on the goal line and they're going to have the opportunity to give it to LeGarrett Blunt. He had 21 carries yesterday. LeGarrett Blunt is locked and loaded rest of season.
Andy Holloway
Ryan Matthews, we talked about it. What do you do now as a fantasy owner?
Jason Moore
Honestly, what do you do?
Andy Holloway
I mean, this was 19 for 109 and two touchdowns. Two for 30 in the air at a two point conversion.
Jason Moore
It's straight up Russian roulette. It's take a revolver, put one bullet in it, spin it and put it to your head because.
Andy Holloway
And do you wait, you hope, do you hope that the bullets in the chamber or not?
Jason Moore
Definitely hope the bullet is not in the chamber.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Jason Moore
My point is when you start him, he just, he can end up not getting a touch. He can end up barely playing the game.
Andy Holloway
It does. It's a hot hand type of situation. It's A even Wendell Smallwood had plenty of carries yesterday. It is a mess.
Jason Moore
You know who didn't have a lot of carries?
Andy Holloway
Darren Sprouls.
Jason Moore
Darren Sprouls. They're locked and loaded. Two weeks starter who's. I will say this for Ryan Matthews because people do need to know, what do I do? The one thing that is a saving grace with Ryan Matthews is that when he was not very involved, he was still a goal line back and he still got touchdowns. So you have that hope where okay, if he's not the guy that game, maybe he'll just get that touchdown and score seven points.
Andy Holloway
And then DeMarco Murray had a monster game again. I mean just I think some reports on Rotor World or something came out right before the game started. That said, you know, he was still struggling with some discomfort in the toe. And then the first play from scrimmage, 75 yard touchdown. He is just, he's a human checkbox. You just running back one, you just put a check mark next to it is a done deal with DeMarco Murray, but we give him, we'll give him a stud muffin mention right there. Now before I get into the wide receiver and tight end stud muffins, I want to thank today's sponsor of the show. Look, seatgeek. You've heard us talk about seatgeek. I received an email this weekend, alright, unprovoked email this weekend. And it started out saying the SeatGeek app is awesome. One of our listeners looked to take his son to a UCLA football game. He needed a good vantage point to the game and he went onto their website for UCLA and tried to find tickets. They were very pricey. Decided to fire up the SeatGeek app. Found two seats that were $30 below face value each. In his excitement, he forgot to put in the promo code, which is footballers, by the way, footballers. Andy Holloway
All right, let's talk about the wide receiver stud muffins for the week. It's almost like an instant replay of last year with Russell Wilson's production now in the second half and what that has to come with Doug Baldwin, right? Doug Baldwin, three touchdowns, reminding people of how he finished the year last year. Six for 59. But three touchdowns. Do you buy into Doug Baldwin as that? I mean, what does this week mean?
Jason Moore
This was the exact week that Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin kicked it off last year.
Andy Holloway
Did they have like a little party beforehand? I mean, this is incredible.
Jason Moore
You know, you're not going to see three touchdown games, obviously, from, from Doug Baldwin week in, week out. But what it does say is that he is, he was last year. And I, you know, last year when the Doug Baldwin thing was happening, I went and I watched a lot of film on them to see why is Doug Baldwin scoring so many touchdowns. Is it just kind of gameplay dependent? Was it luck? Was it they. They're running plays for him and in the red zone Doug Baldwin is the man that they look for. They run plays for they target. They are specifically setting him up. Very similar to, you know, what you see with Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona. If they get down near the goal line and this offense is going to start going, you see CJ Pros ice looks like a legitimate running back to get things moving. You're going to have Thomas Rawls coming, you're going to have Russell Wilson getting healthy and Seattle is, you know, usually a better second half team than a first half team. So I think Doug Baldwin is going to keep it hot and be good for fantasy the rest of the way. Not three touchdowns a week. Good. But I certainly buy in.
Andy Holloway
It seems like Seattle and Dallas are the teams to beat in the nfc. Probably Seattle at the top of that list. Just because you're going into the playoffs with experience versus inexperience. So Baldwin, great week. Rawls set to come back next week. Let's talk about a couple of different names here that I think are important now. Antonio Brown had a big game. He kind of padded in that last drive.
Jason Moore
Yeah, he's always going to have a big game. Next.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, you're starting him. Jordy Nelson, another big game. You're starting him.
Jason Moore
You can't ignore that either. Jordy Nelson is the clear one. People started getting down on him when he had a two game bad stretch. Jordy's fine.
Andy Holloway
Although I was wrong about that.
Jason Moore
Playoff worries. I still, I still do worry about their playoff schedule.
Andy Holloway
Bounce back for Alan Robinson. His highest yardage game of the year, nine for 107 and one with a two point conversion. Your owners are happy to see that. You probably couldn't have traded him previously for the value you needed. So you probably got stuck with him and he's paying off right now. We're going to talk about Stefan Diggs shortly so I will leave it at that. 13 for 164 though. Tyrell Williams and Des Bryant, let's talk about those two guys. Tyrell Williams looks, I mean without Benjamin, Williams is looking like a low end. One option every single week.
Jason Moore
When Benjamin is gone, Tyrell Williams is, is the clear one for, for the Philip Rivers. Yeah, and so I mean you want that, you want the one on, on every single team. And Tyrell Williams is affordable. You know you can if, if trade deadlines are still out there, you can probably grab him. I do think however it is Dependent on Kelvin Benjamin or Kelvin Benjamin, Travis Benjamin's health. Because if he's back out there, you get back into the San Diego Chargers. Wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
Well, and you saw Hunter Henry scored again. He's involved. There are a lot of names, but Williams put up a good week. Des Bryant. Listen to this. When targeting Dez Bryant, Dak Prescott recorded a 146.8 pass rating, the league's highest mark when targeting a single receiver in a week. I think des is back six for 116, a touchdown. But Andy. Yes, but I got the Bezels. Oh, yeah, the Bezels.
Jason Moore
Bezels. Number one wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
Oh, I'm sorry. Your unverified supporter is out of right now.
Jason Moore
Yes, the number one wide receiver in Dallas is Des Bryant.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Enough said.
Jason Moore
And I'm so glad that Mike's not here to speak up and say dumb things to contradict that.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's gone. All right. Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, big weeks. Willie Snead scored a couple of touchdowns to me. Willie Snead, don't go overreact to that. This is just what's going to happen. I mean, week to week, you're going to have different guys score. It wasn't Michael Thomas this week. Everybody got on board with Michael Thomas.
Jason Moore
Michael Thomas had a bad week with two lost fumbles, one of which was critical. That was not good. But I agree with you. You don't buy in here on saying, okay, well, now Willie Snead is the guy. When you play the Denver Broncos, you take whichever guy they are giving you on that play because your options, you're darn right. Are not plentiful. You're not targeting who you want to target. You're targeting who you can target. And that was Snead in this game.
Andy Holloway
Really impressed with Delaney Walker's performance this week. He was always open 9 for 124 and a touchdown. That touchdown came from DeMarco Murray on the pass from DeMarco.
Jason Moore
I don't even think we mentioned DeMarco Murray's passing touchdown.
Andy Holloway
I think it's his first pass he's ever thrown in his career and it.
Jason Moore
It's going to be a good. Everything.
Andy Holloway
Everything worked against Green Bay. Cameron Brake, Kyle Rudolph, Antonio Gates. These are four tight ends have scored this week. Look, Brait shows that he can do it. So you could do a lot worse than Cameron Brait down the stretch. Kyle Rudolph, great performance again. What do you do with Gates with Hunter Henry back? I mean, is he a. I'm really outside the barfies.
Jason Moore
I am really? No, I think he's firmly in the bar fees. I'm thrilled that he got the touchdown this week because a lot of people were relying on him and starting him. But what you saw with Hunter Henry and really when you, when you analyze the entire year when Hunter Henry is played, I think Henry is the better tight end right now and Gates will always be a red zone threat and so he is just as good as any of the other barfies. But he is not out of that barfy tight end. Where you go, look, Gates is locked and loaded as a tight end one despite the fact that he had a touchdown this week. That's how I view Gates currently going forward because of Hunter Henry.
Andy Holloway
All right, it's time for we're going to focus on a couple of players that we like down the stretch.
Jason Moore
Raising Canes Rising Stars of the Week.
Andy Holloway
All right. Every week we do this on Monday, the Raising Canes Rising Stars of the Week. Some players that we think could be critical to your fantasy team down the stretch. Remember last year it wasn't the Levy on Bells that won the championships. It was the Kirk Cousins, Jordan Reed, Tim Hightowers. Those are the guys that got you through some critical playoff weeks and won you a title.
Jason Moore
Are you trying to set up the terrible name you're about to say?
Andy Holloway
I am.
Jason Moore
Good. Well, that was pretty good setup. Let's hear it.
Andy Holloway
Colin Kaepernick.
Jason Moore
Oh, don't do it.
Andy Holloway
Let me say that again, Colin.
Jason Moore
Don't say it again.
Andy Holloway
Kaepernick is my Raising Canes Rising star of the Week. To me, he is a playoff streaming quarterback. We've talked for weeks about Jameis Winston and the potential for Jameis Winston. I don't think anybody thinks Winston's a top 10 quarterback in the NFL. I don't think anybody thinks Kaepernick's the top 20. But here's the plain and simple facts. In Week 14 and 15, which for many playoff teams is their first and second playoff matchups, you have the New York jets at home and then you have the Atlanta Falcons secondary. That to me is all you need to hear. Now if you want to hear something else, you have four weeks of him starting. He's put up 23, 17, 33 and 28 in our scoring format, in our half point league, in his four starts, six point per passing touchdown league. Those are good games. He's put rushing yards. Here's his rushing yards in those four games. 66, 84, 23 and then 85. He went to Arizona and put up a proficient worthwhile fantasy week for owners. That's all you need to know. This is a team that gets their defense is bad. And much like Blake Bortles, he has the ability to in garbage time make enough plays to get enough fantasy points to look, you could do worse. You could do a lot worse in the playoffs. And I know it sounds crazy, but he's been that for every week he's played this year and he's got two juicy matchups in the playoffs. I would have loved to come here and say it's Marcos Mariota for the playoffs, but like I said, he's missing week 13. He's got Denver week 14. I like Kaepernick.
Jason Moore
No, I don't blame you on that. And specifically because of what you mentioned, let me go throw up with the rushing yards. Because when three out of your four weeks are 66, 84 and 85 rushing yards, those are numbers that just say just get a, just get a touchdown, a touchdown and you're fine. And he is getting.
Andy Holloway
And he takes deep shots. He's connected on a lot of deep shots. He can get outside the pocket. It's not pretty, but he gets the job done.
Jason Moore
I agree. I'm going to go with someone that's a little bit more pretty. He might not have the best matchup coming this week, but I am buying in to Stefan Diggs as a rising star.
Andy Holloway
You saw the awakening. Is this the new awakening?
Jason Moore
I don't think this is the new awakening. This is the changing of the guard here. Because when Norv Turner was the offensive coordinator. Yeah. The offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings when he unexpectedly retired or resigned at the very least a few weeks ago, you saw the new offensive coordinator come in and Pat Shermer, Pat Sherman and install a West coast quick pass type of offense. Because the Minnesota Vikings offense has struggled supremely to score and to move the ball. So they move into this fast because their offensive line so bad, people are getting straight through to Sam Bradford. He's got to get the ball out of his hands. And what you have seen in those three weeks are three successive career highs for Stefan Diggs in targets.
Andy Holloway
Yikes.
Jason Moore
The first week was 13 targets. Last week was 14 targets. This week was 15 targets. And those have turned into. Because they're short passes, they have turned into a high catch rate. So you've got a total receptions if you're in a PPR league, eight receptions, 13 receptions and 13 receptions. That's 11.3 receptions per game. He's not going to keep that pace up this coming week. He plays Arizona, but his schedule after Arizona is pretty good. He's got a pretty good playoff schedule for wide receivers. And when you talk about a guy that you know is talented himself, like when I. We've both talked about this, when we watch Stefan Diggs, he makes plays, makes catches that impress us. When you're giving that guy teens of targets a week, he has the opportunity to break some off this week. 13 receptions for 164 yards. He didn't get a touchdown and he still was fantastic.
Andy Holloway
Teams out of the playoffs right now. Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers. Right now, the Detroit Lions are the division leader. Four straight losses for Minnesota, just like.
Jason Moore
Everyone said it would.
Andy Holloway
Well, their defense has shown some vulnerability, but let's, let's refocus here like you said. I mean, those are stunning numbers having him break his career highs and targets. And it's not just one game. Right? This is official. The original Stay in the Flames player was on the show with Stefan Diggs. It's only fair that after three performances like that, you hop back in.
Jason Moore
So here's the tough question. Let me just say this. He is our rising star. Rest of season, I like him. But this week, do you stay in the Flames against Arizona against Patrick Peterson?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think so. They're going to move him around enough.
Jason Moore
I agree. Because his short passes is really what's getting it done.
Andy Holloway
And I think his ceiling's a little bit capped. But it's not like, I mean, Arizona barely won the game yesterday.
Jason Moore
Yeah. This is not against the 49ers, so that's hard.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So. All right. Those were the raising canes. Rising stars of the week. Do not forget, game day tastes better. It tastes great. Better with raising canes. Tailgates full of fresh 24 hour marinated hand battered chicken fingers.
Jason Moore
They're so good.
Andy Holloway
They are so good. Do you want to eat there today?
Jason Moore
I would love to join you for some raising canes today.
Andy Holloway
All right. Fresh brewed sweet tea. Don't forget about that. Visit raisingcanes.com for your nearest location. It's so good. It's so good. All right, let's move on.
Jason Moore
Pooped in his big boy pants.
Andy Holloway
Look, nobody wants to talk about these guys.
Jason Moore
That's. That's wrong. I have been waiting to talk about these guys. There are so many guys that I am angry at. I am.
Andy Holloway
So is this your chance to get.
Jason Moore
So pissed at some of these guys, man?
Andy Holloway
Wow. You really are.
Jason Moore
And let me just skip to the guy I'm most pissed. Go for It Brandon frickin Marshall. Brandon Marshall. He is.
Andy Holloway
Can you really be mad at Brandon Marshall?
Jason Moore
I am mad at Brandon Marshall. I realize that is not his fault in the sense that.
Andy Holloway
Can't you be bad at like everything else around him?
Jason Moore
Sure. The whole I am mad at the jets seems a little petty. That's good. I like that. I'm mad at Petty. I'm getting a little petty here. I'm mad at Fitzpatrick. I'm mad at Eric Decker.
Andy Holloway
I'm afraid of getting hurt for getting hurt Brandon Marshall.
Jason Moore
I traded.
Andy Holloway
You must be beside yourself. You traded Larry Fitz and Larry Fitzgerald's been amazing.
Jason Moore
If every week since I've traded him, Larry has outscored Brandon Marshall and I gave up Larry plus a draft pick for Brandon Marshall. So this is a little personal, but I will say this. There are plenty of owners out there with Brandon Marshall and at what point do you say I'm benching him and I'm going to start other guys? Because I have yet so far. It might come this week, but in my team I have not been able to say, well, yeah, I've got to bench Brandon Marshall, but after this week, Brandon Marshall goes out there. Four total catches. Okay, that's bad for 15 yards. That's nothing. That's. I didn't play a play.
Andy Holloway
Look, the questions being asked, not about Marshall only, but we went through this with Alan Robinson for a few weeks thinking about benching him. Now you have to bring up DeAndre Hopkins in the conversation I actually wrote between Marshall and Hopkins.
Jason Moore
I mean I wrote on fantasy pros. They asked for an article this week for me to pick an outside guy that I thought could break into the top guys this week. Someone outside of the 105s and someone in the top 30 that I think was going to be a bust. And I wrote that DeAndre Hopkins, we have to stop looking at him as, as a. As a top wide receiver. He's not. He hasn't done it this whole year. If you look before this week where he completely crapped in his pants before this week he was wide receiver 36 and that's starting the year with two touchdowns in the first two weeks. Since then he's just been nothing.
Andy Holloway
We've talked so much about Allen Robinson's failures for owners and now he's bouncing back Hopkins owners have to be even more furious. He was drafted ahead of Robinson in most leagues.
Jason Moore
Yeah, if not right there.
Andy Holloway
I mean just a really. I mean you can't trust. I think brock Oswaldter had 99 yards.
Jason Moore
You are correct I mean, he did not get to 100.
Andy Holloway
I'm not joking when I say this. If I was Houston, I don't care what money you spent, I would cut. I would cut Brock Osweiler after the season. I don't know what the financial implications are of that. If there is no benefit to you whatsoever, obviously you don't do that. If you can save a dollar on Brock Osweiler, I would cut him after the season. And I know that is bold and maybe ridiculous in a world with no quarterbacks, but you are never going to do anything with Brock Oswell.
Jason Moore
No. And the reality is, and I'm sorry.
Andy Holloway
If you're a Houston owner, that's just my thoughts watching it.
Jason Moore
If you're a Houston owner.
Andy Holloway
I mean, I'm not an owner. Well, if you're an owner, too, but.
Jason Moore
If you're a Houston fan, you've watched the games, you've seen what we've seen. All right, so let's.
Andy Holloway
All right. Yeah. Back into the. Let's go through the rest of the wide receivers that poop their pants. You know, I expected a big week from Randall Cobb. I projected it that way. He didn't get it done. 4 for 31, unlimited snaps. Alshon Jeffrey, that guy. I don't blame Jeffrey, man. Some of these throws from Jay Cutler had him in the back of the corner of the end zone. Right. Altron's a tall guy.
Jason Moore
Yeah, yeah.
Andy Holloway
Threw it at his knees. Threw it at his knees. He's wide open. Just had to put it up and outside. Touchdown. Doesn't happen.
Jason Moore
Jay Cutler doesn't get big boy pants very often. But this last week, a lot of the fantasy community, not just our show, but so many shows, they looked at the matchup, they looked at the opportunity, and they said, hey, Jay Cutler is going to have a good week. And he was given honorary big boy pants for this week. And he. He used all of the room in those pants to fill them up because Alsha Jeffrey, I mean, he should have had such a monstrous.
Andy Holloway
He was on that rookie db, right?
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Hargraves. Pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic.
Jason Moore
Here's a guy you don't need to worry about who did not have a good game. Mike Evans. I would worry a little bit about Alshon Jeffrey going.
Andy Holloway
See how Mike Evans bad game is 4 for 66, not 4 for 15 like Brandon Marshall.
Jason Moore
Shut your mouth. All right, so let's talk about a guy who kind of pooped the bed a little bit. And you have questions going forward because of quarterback situation, because of other players getting healthy around him. Terrell Pryor is what the rest of the season because he, he only had 5 for 48 this week, which is about what he had last week, except he had a touchdown.
Andy Holloway
He's a 2, 3. He's a. He's on the 23 bubble with one upside because of.
Jason Moore
Of who he is, because of touchdown opportunities where he could just go over the top of someone and.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I mean, he's probably what you should say about Hopkins. You know, maybe Hopkins is below Prior, but you know what they can do on a good day, right. Something bounces their way. I mean, Prior, it would be nice if they used him and not Chris Hogan in the Wildcat, but now it's the Hogan show. So for Prior, you move him down. You know, this week I started Prior over Devonte Adams and I, you know, I regretted it. So, you know, it's the offense. It's an offense problem. So we'll see who's starting this week. Kessler, McCown, because that'll help. I mean, if McKeown, if McCown is starting, it'll help.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I hope. I mean, McCown was. Terrell Pryor looked like he was on the way last week. He was on the way to a stud muffins game in the first half where he basically had this entire line.
Andy Holloway
It's been that way for two weeks.
Jason Moore
And then first down comes in. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So Michael Thomas had a bad week, four for 40. As soon as he got some big boy pants last week, he.
Jason Moore
And two fumbles, which should put him, you know, if you're not enough, you're at exactly zero points. Alan Hearn.
Andy Holloway
Turn the page on Alan Hearns, John Brown, J.J. nelson. Neither did anything. And I, you know, we're really optimistic about J.J. nelson in this game for sure.
Jason Moore
I'm glad. These are the last two wide receivers we're going to talk about because they're a great segue into Carson Palmer, who I also think definitely pooped his big boy pants. He had gigantic pants this week because of the matchup. He did throw for a lot of yards, I think 376.
Andy Holloway
Third straight week with over 300 yards.
Jason Moore
But the fact when you turn the ball over three times, that hurts. Most fantasy leagues, you get penalized, you know, minus two for interception, minus two for a fumble lost. And you, you have a lot of ground to make up with those turnovers, and he did not make them up. Only one touchdown to David Johnson. Really disappointing week for the Cardinals despite the victory. And you did see Michael Floyd at least emerge. Larry Fitzgerald was good, but the two little guys did not get it done this week.
Andy Holloway
Yep. No doubt about it. Tom Brady didn't get it done. No touchdown passes last night. Probably killed a lot of teams this week, Jake. You know, facing Seattle though, I mean.
Jason Moore
Well, it was just a, you know, it was the flow of the game allowed. LeGarrett blunt in for each of those. The offense was fine. Tom Brady was fine. Tom Brady looked great. But they got down around the goal line and when they ran the ball they didn't get.
Andy Holloway
They scored. Yeah. Carson Wentz. Bad week for Wentz. No touchdown passes. It was kind of one of those weeks that you thought Wentz could do something based on the fact that he had been getting the yardage. Numbers didn't happen. And running backs to let you down. There were quite a few. You know, Carlos Hyde started, Dejuan Harris played behind him and they combined for 28 rushing yards.
Jason Moore
That's not good.
Andy Holloway
That's not good. Hyde's the guy to own here on out. But the matchup wasn't good in Arizona and he didn't do anything. He danced too much too.
Jason Moore
By the way, Ty Montgomery I think was probably. I mean, if you put him in the running back situation, he had a huge, disappointing game. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Put him in both. He pooped both. His running back and his wide receiver pants.
Jason Moore
One leg of each.
Andy Holloway
He was my pump the brakes last week because the clock was running out on time. Montgomery, he's not a good enough wide receiver to take away from Adams, who's playing well, Nelson and Cobb. And he's not enough of a running back to win. Starks is active to steal carries.
Jason Moore
I agree. We thought that you would see one more big week out of him, but Starks was in that right role. Starks got a touchdown and it seemed like he was taking some of those time Montgomery situations away.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I thought we'd have at least one more week, but it's over.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So Kristen Michael has gone fully to sleep. He's about to enter hibernation mode. It was. It was fun while it lasted. But Jay pro size is the guy there right now that they like way more than Chris and Michael. He was. C.J. prosise was not a third down running back. He's not a guy they brought in in a two minute drill. C.J. prosise was a three down running back. He was in on firsts, on seconds, on third. And Kristen Michael, he got a little bit of usage. He got five carries in the game. Now Thomas Rawls is. The rumors are back in week 11. This week. So now you've got a three headed monster. I'm not sure I really want any of them, including pro size. But you certainly don't want Kristen Michael. He is, he is on Ambien.
Andy Holloway
I think the pathway for a two down Thomas Rawls and third down CJ Pro size is right in front of our faces. I think that's the way assuming Rawls is back now, fibula injury, once you recover from that, you know it's not a lasting fracture. You know what I mean? It's something that your leg heals, it gets better and you should be back out there and be able to, to be active and contribute. So I think it's going to be. I told some people, I said I'm not guaranteeing it, but Rawls is going to win some people fantasy leagues. That's my belief.
Jason Moore
Oh wow.
Andy Holloway
I do. I believe it.
Jason Moore
Another, another situation. I want to ask if he's a.
Andy Holloway
Better runner than pro size.
Jason Moore
Yes, Thomas Rawls is an excellent runner. Another guy, that is a question mark for me of whether or not he should be included in the pooped in his big boy pants. Nobody was starting him. Nobody would have done that on his first week back. But what do you feel about the fact that Dion Lewis was a healthy scratch? He was back to practice, he was activated. Do you think that it's indicative that. That James White is the guy until James White says that he's not in that role? Or do you think it was just he wasn't ready yet?
Andy Holloway
It's a combination. It's exactly what the fear is for a Dion Lewis owner. And that we, what we talked about at times about not only do you have to get back from an injury, but you do have to supplant somebody that is part of a winning offense. And we all agree that a healthy Deion Lewis is a better overall football player than James White. But that doesn't necessarily translate to the bulk of those opportunities. Twelve touchdowns for the Garrett Blunt. He's not coming off the field in short yardage. He's not coming off the field for the majority of his snaps. James White has been somebody that, you know, four catches yesterday. Bill Belichick's come out and endorsed his play.
Jason Moore
Oh yeah.
Andy Holloway
And now Deion Lewis, healthy scratch. I'm not reading too much into the healthy scratch because I mean this guy's been paid. When he's actually healthy, he'll be active, but will he be effective for fantasy owners? I don't know. I think it might be too little too late. I Was on record saying, I think Lewis might affect the NFL playoffs more than he does the fantasy playoffs.
Jason Moore
Sure. We've still got several weeks to go and I. And I. You know, I wonder if it's almost a benefit to Deion Lewis owners that the Patriots lost the questions of, you know, they were down near the goal line. Dion Lewis was so effective and they last year and they didn't have that weapon they could have used.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'd rather have somebody else locked into my lineup than I would dealing with the James White, Dion Lewis situation, that's for sure. Those guys can't be relied upon right now. Gurley, he's just done what Gurley does this year. He's another guy. We're going to talk to Eric Dickerson about the effect of that offensive line on Todd Gurley. What Dickerson sees in Gurley versus these other young backs like Elliott, like David Johnson. The Ingram Hightower combination fell flat this week against that Denver defense. It might be worth noting that, you know, Ingram was far more effective 11 for 50 where Hightower was 8 for 21. I still would rather have Ingram moving forward and then some wide receivers will let you down. Some other honorary guys, you know, Emmanuel Sanders, we thought he might have a good week. I think that kind of covers it. Jordan Reed, tight end wise, Jordan Reed, Greg Olson, Gronk, Kelsey Gronk. I mean, it was not a strong tight end week overall. So you probably, even if your guy pooped their pants, your opponent's guy might have pooped their pants. Unless you had Delaney Walker, in which case, hopefully you had him and didn't play against him. So let's preview the Monday Night Football game. The Bengals traveled to New York to take on the Giants this evening. You've got Dalton, who I think a lot of bye week fantasy owners are starting this week. I know I'm one of them. Eli Manning on the other side, who we said is the nitroglycerin of the fantasy quarterback position, where you just don't know if he's going to blow up or if he's going to, you know, and if that's good or bad. Right. He can blow up. But is it good or bad? So what are the storylines of this game for you? You're obviously rolling out Green, you're rolling out Beckham. Those guys don't need to be discussed. But how do you feel about Shepard and ifrt? Let's put those two guys out on the table.
Jason Moore
I think Shepard, if Victor Cruz. Victor Cruz, I believe, is A game time decision. So if Cruz is not in there, Shepard I think is a good play. The problem is we're on Monday night. Your rosters are pretty much set and I doubt you have Cruz and Shepard. So I hope for those that are relying on Shepard that Cruz is out tonight, in which case he should be a strong play. On the other side. Eifer is a guy that you're going to start. You know, I think weekend, weekend seems.
Andy Holloway
Like a lot of fantasy owners own two tight ends. They own IFRT and because they had to hide IFRT on their bench for a long time and they've had to make decisions on starting those guys.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And so you've got two different. Everyone who has Eifert usually has a second tight end because they had them already. And maybe they found a successful tight end, a tight end that was, you know, getting the job done and they didn't want to necessarily drop him. But most people in that situation are still probably playing Ifert. I think he's the right play. I think he's fine today. I mean, you saw so many of the top tight ends poop their pants. Well, we still have one more option left for a top tight end to get the job done. I think Ifert does. The guy that I said on fantasy pros was an outside the top hundred and five who might have a good game was actually Brandon lefell. We forget because his last game, I think he had one for four and then he goes to a bye week. So we forget that, you know, because it was three weeks ago and on when he was doing well. But he had, you know, three touchdowns in three games and, you know, lots of targets, lots of yards. So he could be an okay play. The question for me is the running.
Andy Holloway
Well, I was gonna say make a, make a determination here or maybe I'll. I'll go first. The Hill, Bernard and then Jennings and Perkins. If I had to choose out of both of those circumstances, I would be taking Bernard Perkins tonight.
Jason Moore
I would be taking Bernard and Jennings tonight.
Andy Holloway
And that's very fair. You know, we know the storyline behind Cincinnati's defense has not been good. They're in the 20s for passing and rushing defense. On the other side, though, the Giants front line has been able to stop those inside runners more effectively. That's why I think I like Bernard more than Hill tonight.
Jason Moore
This.
Andy Holloway
Tell me why the Jennings Perkins? Is it just opportunity? You just think the opportunity is going to be there for Jennings more tonight?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I mean, what Perkins had, I.
Andy Holloway
Think 11 carries last week.
Jason Moore
Last week, both Jennings and Perkins had 11 carries, right? Completely even split. And I think Perkins is actually the better player. He's younger, he looks good on film. So I have no problem with selecting Perkins in that. But the Cincinnati rushing defense has not really been very good this year and I still think Jennings gets first opportunity. So if he gets first crack and their defensive line isn't looking that good and he's rolling, I don't think they're going to, you know, force the hand over to Jennings. Either one could be better. The reason I like Bernard more than Hill, you can never count Hill out, right, because he's always the guy that goes up against the hard matchup and just gets two touchdowns because that's the way the game went. But this is a game that I'm, I'm expecting and hoping is high scoring. It's kind of back and forth. One team takes a lead, the other team comes back, takes the lead, the other team comes back, takes the lead. And in those games, you end up getting a little bit more pass happy, especially with these two teams. And if you're pass happy, that feeds more into the Gio Bernard pass catching running back role rather than the Geo, rather, rather than the Jeremy Hill. Slow it down, grind it out. I don't expect them to be up two touchdowns and trying to run the clock out.
